Manifesting with abandonment issues

(I realized that I had to tackle my triggers that stem from abandonment issues in order to feel at ease with myself in relationships and feeling ok receiving love/things that I didn't work for)

So I made up this lil practice:

First of all, I realized that most of my wounds stem from childhood, so I started seeing myself as little me, a child. Every time I felt triggered, I remembered that the one who's actually feeling triggered is little me. That made it easier for me to have compassion for myself instead of getting mad over my emotions.

I realized that I was seeking unconditional love, safety, consistency, appreciation, tenderness, understanding, etc... outside of myself. I know you've heard this at least once, but you gotta give yourself that which you seek from others. So that's what I started doing. How??? You may ask...

- Imma give you a real example from things that trigger me: Let's say I made some plans with a guy to meet up on the weekend. The day comes and BOOM, he texts me that he won't be able to make it and gives me a lame excuse or whatever. This is what I would do.

1) Acknowledge my emotions and FEEL them. Don't feel stupid for getting sad or angry, it's ok. 2) I talk to myself with love and compassion. I realized that sometimes I want other people to talk to me tenderly and support me unconditionally but I don't even do that for myself. So I started doing it. (During this practice I try my best to feel what im saying, not just do it like some type of homework)

EVERY TIME I felt abandoned: I would tell myself "Hey, Im here for you always, I will never abandon you. I lit can't even do that if I tried. You are me and I am you. We're bound together"

EVERY TIME I felt unappreciated: I would tell myself "Well you know what? I wouldn't pay attention to them because I think you're pretty cool for doing that or saying that" or "Who even are they? They do not matter cause they lame af and stupid. You, on the other hand... you're awesome and talented and kind and sweet, like pls"

EVERY TIME I felt like nobody cared for me: I would tell myself "Um hello? I'm still here. I exist and I'm somebody. So it would be a lie to think that nobody cares for you."

EVERY TIME I was obsessing over romantic love: I would tell myself "Ugh I know you want that so bad but I want you to turn your focus back on yourself. It is ok to want to feel love romantically but we should start looking at love in a healthy way and not as a fix to the craving you feel right now ok? Remember that I love you" (I would repeat I love you as many times as I needed until I felt fulfilled)

I hope you get what I'm saying, I actually tried to speak to myself as I would to my friends. Im usually kind, supportive and loving to others so I decided to give that to myself.

Do it consistently, build that relationship with yourself. It will make that emptiness go away, you will value yourself more which will result in seeing yourself in higher regard.

This is not for everyone, and it is NOT A TECHNIQUE FOR MANIFESTING. I just wanted to share what has been working for me and hope it helps anyone out there.

i think i read your "into the void" fic on ao3 before i found you on tumblr... that's happened to me a lot in this fandom. but i am suuuch a sucker for the religious allegories. "your serpent will always think it was right to bite" just hits absolutely diff.

geto is basically moral imperatives: the character. he goes full genocide and he sounds so calm and rational and legitimately?? healed??? by the decision?? he can believably be so many things because he's figured out the magnet hack with the moral compass baby.

it's really fun hearing about the backstory for the reader in that fic, too! the sheer utility value of having cursed energy gps, especially for geto who eats curses... and god. teen geto was a very sensitive and perceptive person who read others super well. he really was!

every idea i have lately has turned into this multichapter saga shdflkshdg it KILLS me but it's so fun thinking of backstories and abilities and how they could tie into their relationships with the characters!

i hope both of us can finish some wip someday,,, jhfgksdhg the struggle is SO REAL. but one day!

Now, I get it, I'm sorry for rambling about my Yuta fic lmao.

I love Cielo's works and the way she writes Geto. If I want a bit of inspiration or when I'm struggling with my own fics, I always visit her blog and read her stuff. I think we both like to characterize him as a kind of twisted caretaker but her Geto is a bit more playful than mine, and more upfront about his awful antics against the reader. And I absolutely love it! 💕

Yeah, I like religious symbolism a lot too, I can get my own religious trauma out of my system so I guess it's both beneficial to me and my audience too lol. But that part you're quoting from my fic is actually a little symbolistic tale about victims of abuse and their relationship to their abuser. The story is about that sometimes it's futile to make your abuser admit to the damage they caused and instead, you should focus on yourself and your healing. But it sounded kinda cool so I took it and reworked it a bit to fit into the narrative.

I like writing backstories for the readers even if I don't include it in the fic. But it actually helps a lot to have an idea about them, what kind of environment they come from, what they bring into the dynamic and why etc. It's easier to handle the dynamic if I have a general idea about how they got together with the character, what makes them attached to each other and stuff. Maybe I do this because I've been writing a lot of OC x canon stuff where you must establish the background of your character, make them fit into the canon and well... make it make sense why the character is into your OC.

I'm trying my best to restrain myself and not to start yapping about the dynamic of jjk OC and Geto because... oh boy... I do love to talk about my imaginary babies.

I really like that idea! It makes so much sense for Geto bringing reader to track down curses so he can add them to his collection. Cute date idea! But honestly, I came up with reader's technique when I was half-way done with the first part, completely out of the blue. But I do remember there was a headcannon post about how different cursed techniques reveal something crucial/sensitive about the character or how they can be interpreted as a coping/defense mechanism and that post probably influenced me a little bit.

And like... I don't want to spoil my own fics, but in the dilf!Geto fic, reader's curse technique kinda similar to his technique but it's not like curse manipulation 2.0. Similarities are important in this dynamic I can tell this much.

I was also a member of the multichapter madness gang but I got frustrated that I can't complete any one of them. I still have a Jerome Valeska fic, I love it with all my heart, it's packed with so much dark content but it still needs 8 chapters to be wrapped up (the whole fic is 26 chapters long with the unwritten ones). Aaaand I published the first chapter in 2021 so it deserves a rewrite too. I would rather write a really long one shot with lot of exposition and buildup to have higher chance of finishing it in the future. I mostly just keep the details, the fun facts and the backstories to myself, hoping for somebody like you to share them 💕

Tysm for noticing!!! My super wise digital teacher last year taught me that good character designs have good silhouettes.

I feel identifying good silhouettes are key to character design. Example: I’m sure you could name all these characters without thinking twice.

Why can you recognize these so quickly? Because they’re unique. I can even put tails and sonic next to each other and you could still tell the difference.

Usually when I’m making a character I do 5+ silhouettes to see what I like. My digital teacher always said to do 10-30 but I start repeating ideas after doing 8 or 9.

silhouettes are important because a unique shadow results in a good character. Im trying to work on creating more diverse silhouettes because a lot of my early characters had very similar silhouettes.

Two-Face

-Obviously, Two-Face likes the more uh, risqué clothes you wear.

-Harvey actually...kinda likes the music. The more synth sounds, anyways. Two-Face digs it, too, but neither of them really care for anything leaning towards metal, gives them a headache. Likes artists like Blutengel, Gary Numan, some Bahaus

-If anyone tries to say anything about your style, both are ready to throw hands, no questions. He is your ride or die.

-the type of goth that I think would pair well with him is either (I may be projecting here, I apologize) a soft romantic goth or a chaotic pastel goth. The reason being the contrasting styles and personalities, ya know, because duality and all.

Black Mask

-Definitely is into corporate goths (the tight skirts or pinstripe pants and classy jackets, etc.) If you have an inverted goth aesthetic (white instead of black) and you wear the more romantic/vampire style, oh he's definitely approaching you first.

-He digs the corsets. A lot. (Guy, gal, or gender neutral, doesn't matter, he loves that shit.)

-He loves the macabre side of your style: the skulls, specimens, and all the spooky things. He'll even let you put some of that stuff up in his place.

-Someone says something about your style, it's on sight.

-Some artists he digs are Priest, ††† (Crosses), and he doesn't mind if you throw on some Type O Negative.

Firefly

-I can see him be really into someone with a cybergoth style.

-He digs the heavier music for SURE. Likes stuff like Combichrist, Ludovico Technique, and Slipknot

-Super supportive of your style and loves helping style you; he'll bring you any spare tech bits and baubles for you to use for your looks.

-loves to go out dancing and to concerts with you!

-If you wear the big skirts/dresses/frills/ruffles/lace, he's just super careful that you don't catch on fire

-he's got major golden retriever energy for you!

Riddler

-I see him being more intrigued by someone with a nu goth style. It matches his more polished looks.

-he's going to try and seem like a know it all, but this is clearly something he knows little about and you can either choose to playfully school him and affectionately put him in his place or be casually aloof about it like "oh, yeah, guess that's cool" which will bother him and make him chase you to impress you with his knowledge

-he doesn't mind that you dress different, he's got way too much confidence and audacity in himself and he's going to give some to you (if you need it). Head up, shoulders back, and show these people who's the superior one.

-I see him liking stuff like She Wants Revenge or Depeche Mode

It's not always easy for me to read due to my pain giving me brain fog and this book in particular requires your full attention, so I've technically been reading it for the last few months sjfbdk. Last Movie: Inside the Mind of a Cat on Netflix! It was super cute. It's a documentary about the behavior of cats and going into the relationship they have with us. There was a lot I already knew, as I've always been a nature documentary kid (autism babeyyyy) but I got to learn a few new stuff! It was cool to see the studies the scientists in the film did to prove what cat owners already know or feel. They even talked about how cats from other countries behave differently because of the society they're raised in. If you're looking for a cute and fascinating documentary or just wanna learn about cats, I'd check it out!

Currently Working On: Commissions and personal art! I've got a pair of shorts I'm almost done with and then three jackets. It's a lot but I'm very proud of how the work is turning out. I really hope my clients like them. As for personal art, I've been drawing on my tablet to keep my art flowing. It's nice to unwind cause I feel like painting takes different techniques than doodling on my tablet. I've been drawing my Owl House oc as well as Alador and Darius. One of the ones I'm doin right now is drawing the three of them in all of these:

Aaaaand then it got pretty sexy so sjfbd I'll post once I'm done. Plus, I can't paint in bed but I can draw on the tablet laying down. I'm able to give my back a rest without losing my mojo yknow? I'm also gonna be adding work for a new music video for Sea Power that I've been invited to participate in. So pretty much all my awake time is being creative haha. It rocks! Younger me would be proud of how far I've come.

I DO love making gifs (even when the colouring in tv/film makes me want to murder sometimes) so I'm glad other people also like looking at them? It's really nice to hear tbh. I'm still just learning!

I wanted to learn to make gifs for two reasons - one was Andor, because I assumed the fandom that exists for Andor wouldn't be into the same things as me (you know: dark undertones, dead dove, general bad things, etc - which was correct!) and then also because there was A SCENE in No Exit with Danny Ramirez that was BRUTAL and I needed it (thankfully @the-ravening learned how to gif as well and took care of that for the both of us!)

ANYWAY, @5ummit is great at gifmaking AND great at teaching and she basically ran a little seminar for Shan (Rav) and I to learn how to do it. And then she also provided us with some basic (and some fancy!) PSD files so that we could basically run on our own after that.

I know that's probably less helpful than expected, but that's the way I learned...

I do feel a little like I'm cheating at making gifs because I was handed everything I needed and now I'm just tweaking little things here and there and occasionally wandering off to watch YouTube videos about different techniques and whatnot while hunting for cool looking PSDs to grab.

I very much recommend asking Wendy (5ummit) who is much better with words because I don't think this was actually super helpful and I'm sorry about that 😅

ANYWAYS !! OC Talk under the cut !! 💕 ( CW ; Brief Mentions Of Child Ab*se And Gr**ming, Spoilers For Rain Code, Anxiety Mentions, Large But Legal Age Gaps !! )

So this is my babygirl, Yui Velveteen ( 21, she / her, cisfemale, panromantic, pansexual ). She’s a Master Detective with the Forte of Empathetic Touch ; the way her forte works is that she can feel exactly how a person feels simply by touching them, though this doesn’t mean that she can read minds, just experience the emotion, and her limit is that she can only feel so many emotions or so much of one emotion before she feels overstimulated and verging meltdown / burnout.

If any of you guys are neurospicy or familiar with neurodivergent terms, you’ll notice I said “overstimulated” and “meltdown”, and that is because Yui is autistic, as well as having a rather traumatic childhood ( emotionally absent father, abusive in all sorts of ways mother, groomed by a superior when she was a detective in training ), paired with severe anxiety ( specifically GAD, Social Anxiety, and Panic Disorder ).

She’s from a small farm town, called Ninjin Meadows, where she lives in a small cottage with a lot of pet rabbits, and is very close with her cousin who acts as an older sister to her, Gina Neuroprism, another Master Detective, who helped Yui get in with the WDO. Kanai Ward is Yui’s first big case, outside of finding lost pets or stolen pies, so she was quite excited to be dispatched to Kanai Ward, even though she knew it could be pretty dangerous.

Danger snuck up on her fast, however, since she was the only survivor on her train to Kanai Ward. She managed to escape by a hair, hiding behind the train while the peacekeepers swarmed. Poor girl has the Freeze Response to trauma and stressful events, but luckily, Yakou came just in time to whisk her out of there before she was caught by the peacekeepers.

Yakou was quite possibly the first person she wasn’t related to that showed her honest kindness and human decency, and being rather . . . naive to the world in the romance aspect, she does fall rather quickly, though he doesn’t really return her feelings ( those who have played Chapter Four absolutely understand why ) at least to an extreme extent, but given that Yui is rarely off on her own cases, since her forte is much better at the interrogation aspect of a case rather than the cool fieldwork. They spend a lot of time together and it’s shown that they really care about eachother. He understands her limitations and wanted to have her around due to the fact she’s good at the interrogation aspect of cases, though, given that Yuma and Shinigami reap the souls of the culprits, it’s hard for her to use her forte, leading to her and a few other detectives believing she’s useless to the Kanai Ward case.

She really proves useful in Chapter Two, where she helps Yuma and Desuhiko infiltrate Kurumi’s academy, Yui chatting backstage with Yoshiko, Waruna, and Kurane about Aiko, trying to experience the emotions and hypothesize about potential reasons they may feel the way they do during the case, and enters the Mystery Labyrinth with Yuma and Desuhiko. Shinigami’s abrasiveness is enough to make her cry though, and Desuhiko’s remarks do stress her out quite a bit, so she’s shown to know quite a few grounding techniques to try and keep her calm, and Yuma is pretty understanding of her as well, despite her being his superior.

Halara is the detective that Yui butts heads with the most, because of their opposing work views, though it is mainly work technique they disagree on, and not a deep rooted hatred of eachother. Y’know, like they’re work rivals ?

She’s the agency’s mom friend, because she truly enjoys caring for others, she’s constantly bringing by baked goods she makes from scratch and making sure they eat something that isn’t a meat bun every once in awhile ( on top of that, she’s a vegetarian, because she could not imagine harming animals, since she grew up in a farm town and knows what goes into butchering and meat consumption ).

She and Yakou are similar in quite a few ways, homebodies that are conflict avoidant, but most of their romance struggles come from his past trauma and their age gap, for awhile, he doesn’t view Yui as someone he’d even consider a romantic partner, and it comes up that their age gap is definitely noticeable, in some of their conversations, that he still views her as very kind hearted and loving, but like still a girl. Though given the amount of time they spend together and how warm and caring Yui is, it’s inevitable that he develops ✨ feelings ✨, and he knows he does too, however, he never gives himself the opportunity to act upon them, given that he’s her superior, and the age gap is there. He knows that him changing his mind about her could mess with her head, and he cares about her, so being in a romantic relationship within the canon timeline, it’s not in the cards, no matter how badly she wants it to be. They’re a “ What Could Have Been “ type of a relationship, a poorly timed relationship.

hmmmm kind of... well i only started doing gifs and gfx after i got into skz and it honestly takes a lot of my time and creative energy so i don't think i'd be able to create for other groups unless it's a very occasional thing. also i tend to only ult one group at a time and so my focus is mostly on just them. all the other groups / artists i like is more casual.

6. Is there anything you think you're known for as a creator? i.e. a group everyone associates you with, a certain coloring or sharpening technique, a particular gfx element, an art style, etc.

Bakugou is the kind of person who says that he hates you and that you are weak but in fact he is your number 1 fan and does not accept that anyone says anything bad about you.

‘’If you say a single word about Y / n, I will kill you.’’

When you became friends, he tried to hide it from everyone.

He always made it clear that he never liked you but here he was almost drooling while watching you on TV

Your friendship started with something small and simple, but now everyone who saw you together said that you were a perfect couple.

Bakugou would shout and say that he would never date you.

But here he is dating you and madly in love with everything about you.

He wouldn't be able to hide it for long because he saw how the other heroes looked at you, and the least I can say is that Bakugou had already planned how to kill them all.

Hi Meg! Hope you're doing well (and happy New Year!) I was wondering if you could give any tips on layers when it comes to digital art? I'm slowly learning digital and slowly getting the hang of it, as I'm more of a traditional artist rather than digital, but it's the layers that gets me and that confuses me the most and I was wondering if I could get some tips or advice from the master?😅 I've been in love with your style for a long time and was I've always wanted to know how you do it

Hey there!

First of all thank you so much! 💕

My coloring and shading style especially have gone through quite some changes since I first started digital art - shading with black and the airbrush tool, which doesn't equal art being bad, but most of the time soft shading (like with the airbrush) in black looks dull and takes the colorful out of your drawings. If it is part of your style or intention, obviously you can share with black too. If done right, like in many superhero comics for example, it looks incredibly impressive. (The shading in those are sharp though most of the time, not soft)

I got carried away, sorry. Just wanted to say that my technique/style changed and so will yours with time!

Second, I am by far no master. I've been drawing digitally for almost 6 years now but I'm still learning a lot.

However, I always try to help people and when directly asked to, how could I refuse.

I'm going to show how I draw simpler pieces like the current Madrigal family portraits with the help of Luisa, our beloved, and will mainly talk about the way I use layers.

Disclaimer: my way is not the only way and if you use layers differently that's fine, there are multiple ways to use layers and the tools connected to them. I'm NOT trying to tell you how to use those but am simply, by request, trying to explain how I use them

Program used: Medibang Paint Pro

Media: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (this is not sponsored by Samsung lmao I wish)

I start out with a blank canvas and sketch my intended motif

Now I do the lineart. It's not gonna be ideal in this case because that's the style I'm going for in this series but that's secondary.

I add a layer. Most of the time it should be a button with a plus.

The plus let's me add layers, the bin delete layers, the arrow up is to move a layer up and the arrow down is to move a layer down (though I do that more by just directly holding down my S pen on the layer and move it as far up or far down as I want), ignore the lock, the 3 dots are other features like duplication of a layer, gaussian blur etc.

After the lineart comes coloring. I start with skin (eyes etc. included sometimeson separate layers sometimeson the same lol), then hair, then upper clothing, bottom clothing, and lastly accessories - though I also tend to just put them on the same layer as one of the clothing layers.

The thing with layers is that when you fill an area with color, add a layer underneath it and draw over - or rather under - the previously colored area it will be on the layer but it will be covered up by the layer above it.

I'm bad at explaining but basically we artists are inpatient a lot especially in coloring and in traditional art drawing out of the line or accidentally drawing over already colored skin or anything else so with traditional art you have to take care of that.

Layers make your life so much easier. Just draw the area out. If it's underneath another layer f.e. skin, it is covered by that layer.

You can see this here with the red in the bows (layer 164). They obviously are drawn over their actual lines but because they are layered underneath the layer for the blouse and hair, that doesn't fill the area of the bows (because if it would there'd be no red there as it's covered up), the red does not actually draw over the intended line. I hope that makes sense- 😭😭

Another cool feature digital art gives you is ✨clipping✨ that also saves you sanity you'd spend on not drawing over.

I use it for shading a lot.

I add another layer, tick the box saying "Clipping" and everything I draw on that layer will only be on the layer I clipped it to. For example, if I clip a layer to shade skin, I can only draw on the skin. Not the hair, the blouse or anything else. It's literally clipped to the skin layer.

The great thing: You can clip as many layers on top as you want. Clipped layers can't be clipped to another clipped layer. It'll always be the skin layer.

(Used the clipping tool on the lineart, specifically the lips as you maybe noticed. This means you can change the color of the lineart or any desired colored area with the clipping tool)

("Protect Alpha" works similar but I haven't exactly used it a lot lol)

(A not clipped layer is selected in this screenshot thus Clipping is not shown as activated)

And that's basically it.

It's worth mentioning the "Blending" application. Experiment with it. Try out different blendings like "Add" (makes color on the layer lighter/ almost glow) or "Multiply" (makes color on the layer darker) and many others. Go wild.

i just read a bunch of your stuff back to back and you use stream of consciousness so well can you give any tips on it

aghh this is so sweet thank you 💕💕💕 but unfortunately the SOC thing isn't intentional, i didn't even know what it was until someone else said one of my fics had it.. well i know what stream of consciousness is but not in a literary sense - i did look into it after that feedback but not very much

the only thing i can say about the way i write is that if i think something is unnecessary i take it out (9 times out of 10)

like for example if 2 characters were talking on a couch in someone's living room and then move their conversation outside, i'm not going to write about the journey from the couch to the garden unless something happens during it that's important to the story.. if i wrote something like .. (under the cut bc i waffle sm)

Jay's been inching closer and closer, though she only notices when his knee knocks softly into hers. And maybe it's the way he lets his arm rest on her shoulders, or the fact he's close enough that she can smell the vodka on his breath when he speaks, but YN needs air.

And she needs it now.

The September chill is unkind on her face when it hits her, though - ever cool - Jay is unfazed, taking to the fresh air with a grin on his face, sitting on the half wall in Sunghoon's garden.

(im sorry if this is bad i just kind of wrote what came to mind) so even though i didn't explicitly state that they went outside, i made it clear that YN wants to be outside and opened the next paragraph in such a way that shows you that they're now outside without having to talk about how they got there, if something had happened on the way there then i for sure would have mentioned it but this indicates that nothing of note took place between them leaving the couch and stepping outside..

i hope this makes sense, because im reading over this like ??? what r u talking about but yeah idk.. if anything i'd say i take inspiration more from film than literary technique or anything of the sort.. there's this one director edgar wright (scott pilgrim vs the world, shaun of the dead..) and his stuff is all really choppy and jumps around and i love that style so much that it's seeped into my writing.. gahh i really hope this makes sense

2/2 I also wanted to ask something regarding the process of developing your own techniques whilst drawing; i've personally been really struggling with choosing my art style. Sometimes i like to go smooth and clean and sometimes i make sure the brush strokes are pretty visible on the drawing. I feel like slowly i'm starting to lean towards the second one which makes my digital art look slightly more like it was done on actual canvas but i don't know. Any advice? 💕🌸

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words, it’s so flattering and I really appreciate it! (◕ᴗ◕✿) To be honest, I used to stress out so much about developing my own style back in the day. I think the issue was that I tried to create it artificially, instead of letting it develop on its own. It had to be Cool, Unique and Recognizable ™ On top of it, I really enjoy such a wide variety of styles, and I still occasionally go ‘oh my god, this style with thick lineart is sooo good I wanna draw like that, oh this lineless simplified style is soooo good I wanna draw like that, oh that one semi-realistic style with visible brushstrokes is one love, I wanna draw l-” and this doesn’t help too. In the end I settled for “whatever works” with a bit of experimenting and taking notes of other artists’ art styles and coloring techniques because observing and incorporating elements adjusting them to your preferences is good too. I’d say that if you currently feel like you want to make art pieces that look like they were drawn on canvas - totally go for it. Maybe it will become your preferred art style but it’s not like you can’t switch to a completely opposite one later! I promise you that your art style will naturally change over time anyway!
