One thing that kind of really bothers me about watching Sailor Moon in the 2020s (and outside of Japan), is how much context is missing. Sailor Moon was designed as a multi-media franchise and the information is distributed through multiple mediums that run along side each other. A lot of this media is no longer accessible. What's bothering me about this specifically is Tuxedo Mask's title is never established in the anime, but it was in the hero shows (live performances put on in public areas like malls).
Tuxedo Mask's title is a "tuxedo-wearing pretty guardian of love and beautiful people", but this is never really established in the anime. It just kind of expects you to know this already from the hero shows. This becomes an issue when people watch Sailor Moon today, in English, and Tuxedo Mask makes his speech about something like "protecting beauties". Viewers misinterpret it as him being a ladies' man when I'm pretty sure it's gender neutral most (if not all) of the time and literally his job as a guardian.
It also probably has a lot to do with why he waxes eloquent about the beauty of the objects, places, or people that are currently under attack. They have to be within his area of protection. (It's also why he has a tendency to bring up how the thing he's protecting "helps people be beautiful". Viewers who hear this without context oftentimes assume he's being shallow or sexist.)
He seems to be a guardian of beauty in the sense of the artistry of beauty, with the technique and discipline that go into it. Meanwhile, the beauty Sailor Venus protects refers more to attractiveness and natural good looks. This makes sense for a guardian based off, well, Venus.
(Edit: this is a big part of the reason he's so perpetually graceful and elegant once transformed too :>)

RexWalker Week 2023 - Day 7: Rain / A Crying Kiss Illustrated for the fic "Nightmare for Others, Dream for the Self" by @battlekilt
Was unfortunately extremely busy the last few weeks and didn't think I would be able to manage anything for RexWalker Week; but I just had to illustrate something for my friend's fic because their writing for the week is bloody brilliant, and the Batakin AU is so very special.
So here it is, kind of encompassing a few prompts, but dominantly the Rain and Kiss, because these two deserve it and the writing is worth the world.
Enjoy!

There is a universe in which i was caught up properly on CR whenever what the fuck went down and Imogen verbally and definitively declared that- after everything leading up to this and the back and forth and indecision- that she'd be willing to take down her mom if need be. and i would have been deeply insufferable and writing 20+ separate meta posts and liveblog yelling posts and shitposts. This is not that universe so instead we will put this post here where i can have wildly uninformed (aka 20 eps behind) Emotions about it until someday i actually catch up.
(I know. i accidentally wrote potentially wildly off base/deeply out of date meta again. what can i say. i like shaking the concept of An Imogen (even if it is Outdated Imogen) in a jar. sorry.)
Because i was watching long enough, I think, to see Imogen in the throes of the hope for something better, to understand that Imogen was viewing her mom was a figure and an idea and an answer, that would make things easier. Her mom was- gone, so early. And so her mom, in her mind, was not a person she was an idea, and there was so much hinged on that! Dogged determination and anger at her father and a deep seated dislike of the powers in her hands and head even as they gave her a guilty rush. There were promises there that maybe no one else had made, but Imogen believed. Things built up. Expectations made. Lore crafted, even unconsciously, around someone who was, yes, important to Imogen, but more importantly: Missing. Gone. A blank slate to be filled in. A promise of an answer guide to open questions.
And then she meets her mom, and Liliana Temult goes from a figure to a person- with all the bells and whistles and rough edges. She meets her mom and her mom turns her away. Tells her to run. Tells her she should go. Tells her to leave.
And Imogen doesn't. In the same way she kept visiting libraries, keps asking, kept pushing for answers when it was just about her magic and her headaches and the voices. Imogen always, always wants to know. She keeps digging, she keeps trying, she reaches out, over and over and keeps trying to touch this figure in mist until she's real under her hands, and. Evidence piles up- of deeds gone wrong, blood on her hands, a figure standing next to Otohan (her friends bodies scattered, lifeless, around Otohan). She keeps reaching out, keeps trying, and is rebuffed, over and over. Things get worse and the skies get redder and magic goes dead and she's still- unsure, because what if there's a better reason, what if there's a better way, there has to be a reason, why. There has to be, right- maybe if- maybe. Maybe-
Its just like- a person as an idea. As a symbol. As a promise. One you build yourself up around and towards. One you talk about, not talk to.
And then the fog clears, and they are a human.
(And she's your mom, and she's not what you imagined. She's done you wrong. She's done your loved ones wrong. She's hurt you. She's hurt others. She's going to keep hurting you. She is going to keep hurting everyone. She is too far gone to reason with. She is not listening to you. She is flawed. She is. dangerous. She looks so much like you. You look just like her. You are so similar. You have always known you were similar. You always hoped. You.
Are not her. You are not hers. She is not yours. She is not who you thought she was. She was always someone else. So are you.)
Imogen walks through the bases pretending to be her mother. Liliana is a known face- a powerful one, a figure people fear. A well known silhouette. Imogen slips into the shadows of it, sometimes, when it serves her, but we know- she knows- its all an act. All a lie.
Liliana, after all, is alive, and well, making choices that she believes in and fighting for things with a dogged determination maybe only matched by her daughter.
Imogen knows this. I think. There's a part of her that maybe wishes that wasn't the case.
"There is no loyalty with this blood." And after all- only living people bleed.

I've been seeing a lot of people drawing Sunny Starscout interacting with a corrupted Twilight Sparkle recently and the common theme is that Twilight stole the magic and it wasn't Sunnies to give back in her mind. A lot of people show Sunny as intimidated, but I honestly think she would be a lot like Twilight interacting with Nightmare Moon for the first time, perhaps intimidated internally but not showing it outwardly and putting on the brave face. (Twilight charged at Nightmare Moon, I wouldn't be surprised if Sunny would do similar)
Twilight yelling: It wasn't your magic to give back!
Sunny yelling louder: and it wasn't your magic to take!
I mean if you got magic back for everyone, meet your role model only to find out they stole the magic to begin with and now they are accusing you of misdeeds and yelling at you. I think she deserves to scream back is all I'm thinking. In this theoretical scenario. I also think in the scenario of Twilight stealing the magic like that, she would need a real hard and loud wake-up call. And what if she relives the first time her and her friends met, but now she's in Nightmare Moons position. That would be a slap to the face, and they probably wouldn't even need the rainbow friendship beam. Make her look in a mirror and see just who she has become
And if you wanna do the reincarnation thing, Sunny and her friends could be reincarnations of Twilight's old friends. Because I like angst

Avatar fandom on TikTok is scaring me so I am going to teach you all media literacy if it kills me.
I steadfastly believe that the Neytiri/Quaritch/Spider trio is the most interesting and layered character development JC has going for him rn. Ya’ll not having the basic human empathy to understand Spider or Neytiri’s povs is freaking me out.
First, Neytiri. Neytiri is someone who has lost half her family, half her clan, and the only home she’s ever known to an oppressive colonizing force. Quaritch is the physical representation of all that pain and loss. He had not only killed countless Na’vi, killed Grace, tried to destroy their connection to all of their ancestors, and is the person who destroyed her home and killed her father, he is also the person who almost killed Jake. He also in a way, represents Jake’s betrayal. We forget, but Jake did betray Neytiri. He stayed with the Omaticaya knowing what Quaritch and Parker Selfridge had planned for them, feeding them information about their home and their strengths, and she forgave him, but Na’vi mate for life and he didn’t disclose that vital information beforehand. Jake was working and spying directly for Quaritch. He represents that hurt. For her, Spider is like a ticking time bomb. He is around her kids and she can’t ever feel safe with this child, this human child of her worst enemy who has caused all of the worst things in her life, in her life and with her family. She tolerates him for her kids but that’s it. I think her mindset totally makes sense, and I really hope she’s able to see past his parentage and accept him!
Spider is a child. He is not responsible for the actions of his parents, obviously. He has spent his entire life being raised by people that really don’t want anything to do with him. He has been basically a burden his entire life. The scientists were forced to keep him because he was too young to send to Earth, and the Sully’s were not equipped (and did not really try) to take on a human child. They are basically his family, but they don’t treat him as such. Everything that happens with Quaritch is Stockholm syndrome times 10000. And the opposite for Quaritch, which is Lima syndrome. This kid has never had an adult show him care or affection, and now he’s getting it from a weird reanimated clone of his father in a kidapping/hostage situation. Quaritch’s first move is to take Spider from torture. He says you can come with me or you can be tortured. He conditions him from the get go, that’s bad stuff here is good stuff. Even more importantly, in Spider’s eyes he saves his life from Neytiri. I would LOVE to know later if she intended to kill him (pls check out my post on my opinion on the significance of the cut on his chest) but regardless, Spider thinks she did and that Quaritch saved him. Regardless of his motives and how bad of a person he is (irredeemably sorry Quaritch girlies), Spider can’t leave him to die. It’s such a hard decision for him, but he’s a kid and a good person. One who values life like all Na’vi are taught to. And he still leaves him to go back to the Sully’s, who have not bothered to even try to be concerned about him outside of the kids.
I’m not even gonna get too far into Quaritch, because I know there’s a lot of Quaritch stans out there now which does boggle my mind. But, as awful of a person as he is, he is a super super interesting character in this movie. In the first movie, he is a blatant representation of racism and colonialism in the worst sense, in a way that makes him a great villain but not a very layered character. He is a foil for Jake, showing us the worst of Jake in an outside antagonist. It’s easy to forget by AWOW that Jake used to have a similar mindset to Quaritch. Placing Quaritch in the body of those he fears and hates the most I think is a very fun twist. But what I really loved was his fear of Neytiri and how much that is highlighted in the film. The way he looks at her arrows is just spine chilling, and I can’t wait to see her kill him again because I can’t see it culminating any other way.
The other thing relating to this is Spider’s fear of Neytiri. Her mistrust and fear of him had been a block in his life basically since birth. Her kids love and accept him as a brother easily, and Jake keeps him at arms length for Neytiri (which is a whole Jake issue but we can get into Jake another time). Neytiri stands between Spider and the family he’s always wanted, and him seeing her fight and just backing up in fear before she grabs him is so good, just a great culmination of all events. What I’d love to see from it is Neytiri and Spider having to come to terms with their fear of the other in order to move on and create a family unit. A son for a son, right, Quaritch gets Neteyam killed so Neytiri, Quaritch’s biggest fear, gets what he wants right now, which is Spider.

okay wait… how big are the angels then?? i always imagined them human size but are they ? not? are the archangels bigger than the other angels? are they beefier or just taller? what’s their bone density like (because they’re able to fly—or does their power of flight come from their divinity)? are they more fragile because of their bone density or are they stronger because they’re angels? i have never been so curious about angel proportions in my life
this is stated pretty directly in A&M but all the angels tall! Not excessively though
I imagine them to be about 6.5 feet (....?) so they're not huge but they tower a lot next to ancient humans in particular. Archangels are the same size as other angels, though Uriel is especially tall, I think, at maybe.... 7.4 feet? Michael is probably nearly 7 feet; Michael, though, is Very beefy so he's quite wide. (And in my last post, it's a combination of being wide and wearing bulky armor that gets him stuck)
I imagine it's mostly divinity that makes them fly, but I do think their bones and organs are sort of weird in general. In a way, less complicated; they're missing some organs that humans have. I don't think they have kidneys, for example, and I think they have a tiny liver. I think their stomachs are larger (and tougher; they can digest absolutely anything). I think their big/small intestines work differently and are also smaller. I imagine their bones are much, much, thinner but stronger because.... well, divinity.
thank you for the ask :>

Ok. Real question. How many people Actually have believed in Santa? Bc I never did, mostly bc my dad never bothered with the entire pretense, so the whole concept is just. Really fucking strange to me
Putting an actual poll bc I feel like I'm losing my mind a bit thinking about how apparently widespread it is. Like. It's just so... weird? Why is this the thing people have popularized? It makes no sense.
#speculation nation#polls#like ok my dad's an atheist raised by jewish parents so xmas has never really been a religious sort of holiday to me#we celebrate it bc it's fun to give gifts and spend time with family#but that's... it.#all the lore and mythos of xmas is just so weird to me#like baby jesus etc etc but now here comes saint nicholas with the steel chair! (breaking into your house to eat your cookies#and leave presents Only for the rich kids! why only the rich ones? uhmmm Dont worry about it!)#genuinely speaking my dad's worked at ups my whole life so growing up he'd say he (and the rest of his coworkers) were the real santas#said as a joke mostly bc theyre the ones Actually delivering the packages#but i took it to heart. told people at school that my dad was the Real santa.#no one believed me lol which i found quite frustrating.#but yeah i have never once in my entire life believed in Santa#and im content with that. it seems like such a stupid thing i will be honest.#'what about the magic of christmas' what about the poor kids who dont get gifts & feel abandoned by this all-powerful man?#in fact why do we Want kids to not think it's their parents giving gifts? they cant thank the right people if we trick them.#it's a convoluted setup that makes absolutely 0 sense to me#trust me christmas had more than enough 'magic' for me as a kid just bc of all the cool lights and all the free gifts#dont need some mythological man who can travel the globe in one night and is a professional in B&E#makes no sense for Real.#there was a time with my ex step siblings where me n my sister were told not to spoil the fun for them#so i had to pretend like santa existed as they opened presents marked from him#and even back then i was just thinking 'this is So Dumb'#this is an anti santa zone i guess. me and myself hate the popularized version of this strange strange belief system.

Because I have to make everyone else cry when I do:
what if we find out Ed kept everything in the auxiliary wardrobe when he finds out Stede is "dead" and the last shot of the episode is light illuminating from the door as it cracks open and maybe Ed's shadow (but only his shadow) as he walks in and the credits song is "After Hours" by the Velvet Underground

wait another thing. i know objectively that stranding the crew was fucked up and something that ed will at least have to apologize for.
but tonally, the marooning is... comedic?? the scenes we get of the crew on the island are all Jokes. olu waving a stick around and saying it's a snake. buttons and roach trying to eat the swede. wee john staring at them with disinterest. the swede standing off against buttons and roach by climbing on top of a rock and doing a very authentic caveman impression. olu making no move to intervene. it's all JOKES it's all FUNNY GAGS AND GOOFS
so like. WHY does everyone seem to expect an incredibly dramatic arc of ed having to win the crew over and make it up to them??? it does not make sense 2 me. honestly im expecting one episode of the crew being mad at ed at MOST bc like the crew are the comedic side characters whose lighthearted scenes offset the drama of the main conflict. like. the crew are timon and pumba. the crew are rosencrantz and guildenstern. unrelated but i JUST realized while i was writing those sentences that timon and pumba are supposed to be rosencrantz and guildenstern

So I heard some stuff for the next Ovenbreak update, I’ll put it under the cut for people who don’t want to be spoiled
Okay so apparently both Pitaya and Ananas are getting Magic Candies, as well as Legendary Pets
It was not a good time to upgrade Xylitol Nova’s Magic Candy it seems. Granted I should have realized that
And also in addition that means I have to level them more, as well as the Pets, so I’m gonna have to be very frugal with my Gem spending this update
Also we apparently aren’t getting new Cookies with this update, I guess because with a Magic Candy comes new Trials for the two of them. Ah well
But I suppose with no new Cookies, the story will be mainly focused on old Cookies? Maybe even Dark Choco and Chess Choco, since they’re looking for the dragons?
But yeah I’m not sure what the plot will be with the two of them. As I recall, Pitaya fled somewhere after the Longan fight, and Ananas is reluctantly siding with Longan so that their islands don’t get destroyed. So it’s either two separate plots for each half, or they’re somehow one connected story
Honestly I just hope that we don’t have the same format as we’ve had the past several updates. On one hand it’s boring, but I mean more because that means far less main story cutscenes. Lotus’s format allowed for a lot of cutscenes, so hopefully with this they’ll go back to that format at least

your initial spec about a car accident, did that come from something in particular or just an idea you had?
Honestly, I don't know. Looking into the show for possible things involving Buck, Eddie, and cars now makes me see a pattern that could be used, that I might've noticed before but didn't fully clock, but I was not fully aware of it at first, it was just a general "Buck has almost died in a city vehicle multiple times, Shannon died in a car crash, the jeep is important to Buck, Eddie was trapped in a van, I want buddie trapped underwater" so crashing their car would be the easiest way to get there? Because the crash was the first form of my Buck drowning speculation, I was actually thinking about Ravi and the guy he saved after driving off the road, and a bit the lone star too, with the accident with Judd and Grace in season 2, and being like "huh, what if buddie witnessed something like that, but before they could help someone drove them off the road? or what if they were the people who were driven off the road first?" because they would want to help, but the situation would be even more unpredictable if they are not on a call, so making them the emergency like that felt like an easy way to make it more intense, and considering the urgency of a car falling of a bridge or a cliff, they wouldn't be able to wait for help, so they would have to save each other and that was the main point there, I just wanted a layer of unpredictability for the call itself, so making them the emergency made more sense to me, I guess. So it is half logic, half the voices in my head, like most of the things I say about this show lol.

it’s always when I have things to be doing that this happens but it’s like. I don’t know I’ve gone so far into weird love territory and I’ve been here so long that when I go back and really look at canon it’s like it’s new to me. because like do you ever think about how hanzawa masato just sort of DECIDED that tashiro would be the next captain of the ping pong club. like it wasn’t a recommendation or anything that decision was made. and absolutely if tashiro genuinely GENUINELY didn’t want to do it nothing bad would have really happened, someone else could have done it, sure. you know? but at the end of the day tashiro, in the midst of his running away, had that thought, like. not in a thought bubble but in a b Hold on
Tumblr media
in the narration box. like it’s not a fleeting in-the-moment thought like the whole poor shmuck thing. I’m not explaining this well. it’s just you get the impression that tashiro thinks about things a lot and also tangentially kind of thinks about his hanzawa senpai a lot and that realization of burden is so significant to tashiro that he takes on the position of captain
Tumblr media
and he doesn’t look him in the face when he does it, and I love it. I love when things are indirect and subtle and sort of reluctant because it’s human and speaks to sincerity and tashiro’s grounded…ness that he isn’t unflinchingly happy to do it. he still doesn’t really want to do it. but he will. and he’ll do it WELL. because and this so matters hanzawa masato just sort of DECIDED that tashiro would be the next captain of the ping pong club because he knows tashiro and has been watching tashiro as a fun kouhai who he likes a lot and who makes him laugh like literally no one else in the world, and he knows that he would be a good president because he is, amongst other relevant things, a good person. the right kind of good person! he wouldn’t have forced tashiro to do it because frankly he couldn’t REALLY force tashiro to do it, tashiro has a way of getting around things (pudding head….) but he decided tashiro would be captain, because he knows tashiro, and tashiro decided to take that on, because he sees hanzawa. he decided that tashiro would be captain, and tashiro decided to accept that decision because hanzawa decided correctly.
and tashiro cares, and encourages his senpai to rest, and we get the FUCKING.
Tumblr media
that just speaks VOLUMES. hanzawa masato who notoriously stays busy for at least one of two known reasons that sound a little contradictory but aren’t actually is resting right now. hanzawa masato who is so weird and so unknowable to his juniors is wearing a small smile that, unlike so many of his other ones (ominous as they are, usually), shows for only contentment. he’s resting right now. like the tashiro gonzaburou hanzawa masato dynamic IS so weird I’m not delusional for that. but my favorite thing that I think I do a really bad job of showing is that their exchanges go back and forth and are so much fun for the both of them, and it’s exactly like PING PONG. well matched and silly and hanzawa masato knows tashiro gonzaburou and if tashiro gonzaburou doesn’t know hanzawa masato he sure as hell sees him, and wants to know him, just a little at least, and it’s all so much. I’m resting right now. fuck. anyway
#bangs fist on the floor. is on the floor.#hanzawa to tashiro#hanzashiro#and really the fact that tashiro is hiding around the corner to hear the milk tea exchange with miyano. and then brings him some#ASSUMING HE DIDN’T ALREADY KNOW. it’s just like. i wish i was more comfortable writing tashiro he’s so much to me#silly little guy for sure. but intentionally taking on a burden for someone else when it’s explicitly something he doesn’t want to do#(or maybe just something he felt he wasn’t qualified to do. depends. probably both)#and doing well at it. the person hanzawa masato is trusting in the most.#just. someone who doesn’t want to be responsible but will be and someone who old people LOVE and someone who accepts things without judgment#and someone who will hide in a box on the floor to hide from his senpai and just as well walk right up to him and hide his face#and accept the trust masato was putting in him.#like this of all things isn’t really a burden to masato because he’s. he’s RESTING right now. of all the pies he has fingers in#this might actually be his favorite. for a number of reasons that are mostly speculative#but it’s SYMBOLIC of a burden. am i making any sense at all. i might not be#masato is giving this one away because it’s not really a burden to him exactly. but tashiro is taking it because he feels it’s a burden but.#how do i say this. it’s not a burden to masato but it IS a weight on his shoulders whether he realizes it or not#and tashiro takes it from him—not unreluctantly—because he cares. because he wants masato to rest.#i think talking this long is manifesting a tin cap on my head. i should go#dirtbrain digression#tldr it IS weird love. but just not AS weird or the KIND of weird that i’d have it be. haaaah i’m sick

So, a little side note to my headcanon on speculative stuff on the Witness's people with some backup help from my OCs:
A lot of my characters actually have female/feminine voices even if they identify as male. This is largely because the species themselves are intersex and do not rely on the concept of gender to determine who they truly are. They distinguish and choose their pronouns when they are old enough to decide what they feel fits themselves best.
For example, both Turey and Hutia identify as male but have female/feminine voices. Rahe and Zinato also have female/feminine voices but identify solely as non-binary to name a few.
In much earlier times before the species evolved to be more humanoid, the species had a large female to male ratio. A cis male would number 1 to every 50 cis females. Because of this, the species eventually began to evolve with more intersex individuals being born to help reduce the chances of inbreeding between the populous. It wouldn't be long before the intersex gene became the dominant gene to take over in full. However, pieces of prior evolution still linger when vocal cords and language began to develop alongside this gene as well. This is why if one is to find themselves among the species, they would often hear female/feminine voices.
Very seldom do any of them actually have male voices and if they do, they are usually very soft spoken and quiet.
For example, again, both Baracutey and Homayoun have masculine voices. The same goes for Bijirita. Mabuya also has a masculine voice yet identifies as non-binary. And I'naru', who has a masculine/male voice, identifies as female.
Voices are not usually loud or deep within this species as this is a species that heavily relies on body language to communicate with each other more effectively.
Again, in earlier times before the Traveler, the species often found it easier for them to speak more softly to evade any sort of danger while also being able to signal and commune with one another should said dangers be around. Softer tones and effective body language also aided them in hunts as they further evolved to become the apex predators of their world, keeping them out of sight and sound of potential prey. Body language also helps in detecting how one feels without saying it or understanding the state of their overall health.
I'll further explain this with more speculative doodles later down the line, but I felt the need to add this in there for the sake of understanding/knowing what will be when said doodles and posts do come about! Hope this makes sense to some degree.
Again, these are just personal headcanons for my lore/story building.

Do you think, that in a world where pk did get rid of the radience in the beginning, he would've had a "normal child with his wife? And would his kingdom have an eventually downfall?
Lmao, no way. Two immortals have no need for an heir, and siring a likewise immortal child would have just been a means of creating his own downfall. We also know from his actions that when choosing between Hallownest and family, the Pale King would always choose Hallownest (and keeping control over it), so the risk just wouldn't be worth it. Even Hornet was sired for the benefit of Hallownest rather than a desire for a child, and the White Lady mentioning her fondness for her does not necessarily mean that she wanted children of her own. Fun as it is to speculate, we know nothing about the Pale King's thoughts on her creation, and him locking the Abyss/killing the weaker and impure vessels seems to imply that they were some sort of liability to him. If I had to guess, him imprinting on the Hollow Knight was something that hit him completely out of left field, and that he had no desire for an actual living child until the results of his experiments involving his genetics was staring him right in the face. And even then, he treats the information as something terrible that must be sealed away with the greatest security and punished for remembering, which gives me very strong vibes of a guy who had very little qualms about starting the vessel project bc the idea of having kids meant nothing to him up until reality came and smacked him right in the face. Like, he probably had some regret for it- WL's whole horny jail thing is also a form of punishment for what she did to her children, and she's just as cold as he was, if not moreso- but I don't think the full extent of the horrors hit him until then. And someone who wanted kids wouldn't have gone through with growing brainless bodies with their genes to begin with.
Or, well, maybe I shouldn't say 'no way'. We know from his dialogue at the Abyss lore marker that he deeply regretted what he did, we know from his workshop notes that he believed void to be a thing utterly and inherently without mind and emotion (thus making the vessel experiments ethical in theory), and that he grew to love the Hollow Knight despite genuinely believing that they were empty. And the White Lady starts off talking to Ghost with a very matter-of-fact tone about how she believes that the Hollow Knight failed because they were 'tarnished by an idea instilled', which means that she herself thought that they, as a void being, were incapable of emotion or thought, and that an outside influence must have tampered with them. It's not until Ghost- a vessel who very clearly does not give a shit about appearing empty- visits her more and does things like creating the Voidheart that she starts to soften up, and to reconsider their nature. So it may be possible that both of the gods had some vague streak of parental instincts and longings within them, but that their logical minds completely overwhelmed those desires. It would make sense, seeing as both of the Pale Gods were written to counter the Radiance, who is mostly ruled by emotion with very little logic. So while they had the ability to love their children, and they canonically have the ability to grieve/feel guilt for what they did, they still wouldn't have actually gone out and had a kid out of their own desires to begin with. That would be too much of a risk to them and Hallownest.
But yeah, Hallownest would have fallen anyways. There probably wouldn't be a dead baby pit driven by the necessity for a void-infused host body that could trap a malevolent dream deity for eternity, but it still would have had some form of a downfall eventually, be it a gory mess like in canon, or a slow fade like Unn's. Nothing ever lasts forever, not even in the realm of gods.

There's a specificity to Laudna liking fixing things, something about exercising agency, turning bad and broken things into good things. Taking dead bits, broken bits, turning them into something charming, something funny, something pretty, something useful. Restoring things to their former glory. Turning them into something better.
Fixing things, putting things back together with your own two hands.
So of course, then, the specific cruelty of having that ripped away- your own hands, betraying you. Your own hands, so good at fixing, your hands. Breaking, instead. Your hands. Breaking apart a sole source of comfort to a friend, breaking apart a promise, breaking apart an unspoken trust in a relationship, breaking apart your own sense of agency and safety, all in a matter of seconds.
