Finally peeled and preserved the rest of the garlic cloves from the summer harvest. They’ve been in a bag separated but unpeeled and I’ve been slowly using them until now.
They’re not canned but instead hot vinegar is poured on the peeled cloves and they stay good all year in the fridge. The vinegar makes it to where no bad bacteria can grow on them and the enzymes from the garlic prevent the garlic from absorbing and tasting like vinegar. Just fish out however many cloves you need and use like normal!!
Hardneck cloves are in the jar on the left! They’re so much bigger and I like them so much more. Easier to peel, bigger cloves, and you get garlic scapes (delicious) before harvesting the bulbs. Last year I ordered mostly softneck and a little hardneck and this year I flipped it so that next year I’ll have primarily hardneck :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, a lot of the newly planted garlics have popped! It’s not preferable for them to pop before spring but my weather is unpredictable and it happens every year. The cold will kill them but they’ll come right back in the spring 🌱

Best and Worst of Both worlds (part 23)
Tw: Montgomery's really touchy n doesn know what is no
part 24
You were sent home. Because all you wanted to do was collapse on your bed and sleep the night away. The rain makes it extra cozy for you to cuddle under the blankets. Once your head hit the pillow, you were out like a light.
You woke up to your phone buzzing. But it isn't Yves this time. It's Evangeline.
You picked it up and brought it to your ear, giving her a groggy 'hello'?
"Wake up, damn it! You're going to miss class again, daddy's already waiting outside for you!" You let out a yelp as you heard loud honking from outside.
You whined as you got out of bed, throwing a mini tantrum by stomping out of your room. You wish that Yves was here, he would have woken you up on the right side of bed every day. Yves would have been gentle and stress-free, he would have stroked your hair and given you soft kisses as an alarm. There wouldn't be any loud noises or sudden surprises.
You grumbled as you got yourself ready for the day.
__
This time, you remembered to bring the premade meals Yves prepared in the fridge. Sharing yesterday's lunch with Evangeline while you ate the fresher one today. Mr. Jones fussed with you about wearing sunscreen, so now you're protected from the sun.
Yves only sent you a singular text this morning at 8:30am.
"Good morning, my dear. May you have a lovely day, (name)."
No reminders, no updates about what he did or saw, no requests to contact him. You brushed it off as him being busy, deciding to favour Evangeline's attention over his. You didn't even reply to his only message, thinking that Yves would mind too much about it.
"Mmm! This is delicious, Sir Yves is a really great cook!" Complimented Evangeline as she took another bite of the cold wrap. You're eating your own meal that has specific instructions to microwave it, luckily there are some that you could use in the student's lounge.
"Aww, he's such a sweet partner too. Look!" She showed you a message left by Yves, that was attached to the wrapper of yesterday's meal.
"Lunch for (full name)- Monday.
Meal: Turkey and Apricot Wrap. Do not heat. Eat as it is.
Ingredients: lactose-free cream cheese, apricot reserves, wheat tortillas, shredded turkey, spices, arugula. Contains gluten.
Remember to put on sunscreen. There is no need to be nervous as I know you will do well on your first day. I will be thinking of you always. Call me if you want to talk about your day, I will listen.
Love,
Yves"
You never realized that there was a whole paragraph plastered on its wrapping. So you decided to check your container for any similar texts. Sure enough, you found one.
"Lunch for (name)- Tuesday
Meal: Coq au vin. Microwave with lid partially open, 3-4 minutes. Be careful as the contents will be hot.
Ingredients: Chicken, pearl onions, garlic, spices, pinot noir red wine, button mushrooms, bacon, butter, tomato paste, flour, homemade beef stock, tagliatelle. Contains gluten and lactose.
Well done, my dear (name). You have reached your second day. I hope you find my cooking so far to be appetizing, your thoughts would be very much appreciated. As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you need me. I will always be there for you. Be careful not to burn your tongue.
Love,
Yves"
She gushed over today's note. "That's so cute! I can see why you're into older men now."
You lightly punched her on the shoulder and laughed along.
You and her were eating peacefully, now that you have exhausted all the conversation topics. Both of you ate in silence, enjoying the food from Yves.
But then, all of the sudden, a pair of hands clamped down onto your shoulders. Causing you to shriek and jump in your seat.
"Scared ya, didn't I?" You felt his stubble scraped against your skin that has been softened by the skincare routine Yves set for you.
Colour drain from Evangeline's and your faces.
You tried swatting him away, but he took a deep sniff of your hair, inhaling all your scent. You protested as he buries his nose into your head, Montgomery is really loud in his sniffing. "You smell so good..." He mumbled lazily as he held you from behind.
Evangeline stood up and pried him away from you, but only successfully to a certain extent.
"Fine, fine. I'll save the lovey-dovey stuff for later when you're easier to win over." He massaged your shoulders with his thumb. You frown because he doesn't seem to understand that his strength is too much, you think you will bruise.
"You are hurting (name)." Evangeline firmly told him off. To your shock though, he immediately lets go and stroke your hair in an unnaturally, tender way.
"Oh! I'm so sorry darlin'... You're so soft and sweet, I sure forgot I can be a damn brute sometimes." You looked up at him and there was a considerable amount of guilt being expressed on his face.
He ignored Evangeline and invited himself to your table, sitting on the chair adjacent to yours.
"Here, I got us lunch."
Montgomery sets down a paper bag that has an imposing fast food logo printed on it. The smell of piping hot french fries and meat patties wafted throughout the air. He began unpacking it, placing a thin, cardboard box containing a large burger in front of you. Even though you're clearly eating the well crafted meal Yves made.
"And I didn't forget about yer rich friend." He took out a much smaller sandwich, wrapped in wax paper. Albeit begrudgingly.
"It ain't like she's gonna appreciate it anyways..." He muttered under his breath.
"Thank you very much, Sir Montgomery." Although she was kind and friendly in her response, you sensed a bit of animosity radiating from her. Montgomery seems to pick it up faster than you and tenfold the intensity.
He shot her a dirty look before going back to showcasing what he bought.
"I got ya' your favourite soda in a jumbo cup." He carefully pulled out a huge plastic vessel containing an ice-cooled liquid, you can hear it noisily sloshing and fizzing. It looks intimidating to say the least; you definitely can't finish it even with the help of Evangeline.
"You gotta fuel your brain somehow through those soul killin' classes." He stuck his hand back into the bag.
"I got ya' a cookie, a cupcake, some fries aaand..." He rummaged through the bag and pulled out something so small, that it's entirely engulfed by his hand. "A nice, little gift for ya."
He smiled and presented to you in a closed fist. You shakily uncurled his rough fingers off his palm to reveal... a nice little keychain?
"They said it's a limited edition! So I got ya one, I saw a bunch of youngins' goin' crazy over it. Must be the newest, hottest thing among the kids these days."
You sucked your lips in and stared at it, wide eye. You're not admitting it to anyone, but you secretly longed for it ever since you saw a promotional advertisement on your social media feed. You knew back then you could never afford it because it's $30 for this piece of metal alloy and you had to buy a meal to be eligible to get it.
However, you're not fooling anyone. Montgomery and Evangeline can see how obvious you desperately wanted it upon presentation. Evangeline shook her head, now knowing that her friend is susceptible to predatory marketing tactics. Montgomery grinned from ear to ear, knowing that he could take advantage of this situation.
Before your twitchy fingers could grab it, Montgomery pulled it away and dangled it over your head.
"Where's my thanks?" He teasingly brought his face closer to yours.
You quickly mumbled some words of gratitude before trying to reach for that desired toy. He laughed at your pathetic attempt to grab it, he's too tall for you and you're too unathletic to hop far.
Evangeline almost shot up when she saw his other hand hovering around your waist. Montgomery noticed this reaction of hers and decided to place it on the table, where you and her could see.
"I only accept gratitude in kisses or phone numbers." He pressed his forehead against yours while smirking cockily.
You sat back down. Despair surfaced in your eyes as you went back to eating the coq au Vin.
"Huh? You don't wanna take it?" You shook your head and did not say a word more. The conversation is over and it's not worth it for a piece of overpriced trash.
Montgomery's smile dropped and he turned his focus to Evangeline, who simply gave him a polite, but smug smile.
"You know, it isn't a gift if you expect something in return." Evangeline innocently commented, unwrapping her burger. "It's a transaction now."
Montgomery looked away and paid no mind to her words.
She continued to jab at him verbally.
"So... is your relationship with (name)... transactional? Are you their sugar daddy?"
Anger flashed on his face as he whipped his head to Evangeline. She grinned toothily as she felt a sense of accomplishment by striking a nerve in Montgomery.
"Hey, you watch your mouth, spoiled brat." He hissed through a clenched jaw while pointing menacingly at her.
"I'm just asking a question, sir. It really does seem like you're doing all these seemingly nice gestures, just to get something back." She batted her eyelashes and pouted.
"Shut your trap, you ain't know nothin' about our relationship." Montgomery's veins are starting to show, you cower in the corner, staring at Evangeline and silently pleading her not to go on. But all she did was give you a reassuring look, mixed with a devilish one.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend sir. You're right, I don't know anything about your relationship with (name). That's why, I'm asking! I want to educate myself, so I can do better!" She spoke in the most fake performative tone ever, you could tell she was doing this on purpose to rile Montgomery up.
"You ask too many questions, Goldilocks. Ya' need to mind ya' own business." Montgomery started gritting his teeth and balling his fists.
"I'm not judging! I promise. There isn't anything wrong with having a transactional relationship, I think it's a good thing we can choose how to define our-"
"I was just kiddin', Baby." Montgomery cooed at you. Simultaneously cutting Evangeline off.
He fixed the keychain onto the zipper of your bag. "You ain't need to give anything back. I'm doin' all these because that's what a good man would do for their partners." He ruffled your hair.
Montgomery glared at Evangeline who is now having a self-congratulatory grin on her blemish-free face.
"God, y'all rich people sound the same." He grumbled, taking out his own burger and began eating.
"Thank you! We take our speech classes very seriously." That earned a scoff from Montgomery.
She hummed and tapped her chin. Brewing up more ways to mess with Montgomery.
While she took her sweet time, you finished your meal from Yves. You're not hungry anymore, so you didn't touch the food Montgomery brought.
Of course, he noticed it. "Yer food is gonna get cold, soggy fries are the worst." He tipped the bag so you would have easier access to its contents. "Dig in, sweetheart. Ain't nothin' to be shy about. They're all for ya'."
You declined, saying that you're full.
"Aw, come on. You gotta eat, you're growin'! You need your nutrients and-"
"Aren't you a bit too old to be sitting with us?" Evangeline crossed her legs and watched him intently, her pupils dilated out of mischief and curiosity. He groaned and rolled his eyes at her.
"I'm not playin' with you. Shut up." He snarled while he opened your burger box for you to eat out of.
"But sir! You're--"
Montgomery slammed his fist on the table.
"I'm grown, they're grown, you're grown. Age ain't nothin' but a number at this point. We're all adults here, you better start actin' like one, ya' little shit." He rose from his chair and made himself look bigger to intimidate Evangeline into stopping. But she persisted with that irritatingly confident smirk of hers.
"Hmm. I wouldn't conflate legality with morality. (Name) and I are still very young, after all. I'm sure you're wise and mature, it comes with age. We can learn a lot from you, sir!" Her tone became increasingly condescending and mocking, her baby blues bore holes into Montgomery's dark eyes.
You could see his lower eyelid twitching out of fury. Your friend is definitely going to get pummeled into a pulp if she doesn't back down. But she either refused to heed your quiet warnings or is oblivious to it.
"Listen here, you piece of--"
He was interrupted by an alarm blaring from his back pocket. Montgomery fished it out and took a look at his phone screen.
He frowned, grumbling incoherently under his breath as he began packing up.
"You were saying? And, where are you going--"
"To work! God damn! You're fuckin' annoying!" He exclaimed at her. All Evangeline did was maintain her straight posture and sweet smile.
"Aw. I'm sorry to hear that. Could you please tell me what I did wrong? I only wanted to learn..." He ignored her completely and whipped out his wallet. Montgomery pulled out two $20 notes and stuffed it into your bag. The man made sure to zip it up, so it wouldn't slip out.
"Treat yourself to somethin' nice after class. I'll be late, so don't wait up- go home with goldie, it ain't that safe to use the bus at night. Unless you wanna give me your number..." The man looked at you with hopeful eyes. You shook your head and he rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"That's so sweet of you! Giving (name) some money to spend, just like a sugar daddy would!" She clapped her hands in excitement.
"Shut. Up." He pointed his index finger at her. Evangeline gave him Jazz hands and an open-mouth smile. Then, Montgomery turned to you.
"You gotta pick better friends, baby." He kissed you on the forehead before you could react. Cringing at how his stubble would scratch you and his hair leaving a mild greasy residue on your skin. His lips were dry and leathery, the experience was disgusting to you.
You let out a shout and tried your best to shove him away. But all you did was make him sway a little.
"Bye honey, I'll see you around." He gave you a brief, affectionate pinch on the cheek before taking off.
You and Evangeline looked at the vast number of food items he left for you. Neither of you took a bite out of anything.
You asked her if she wanted to bring it back home. She shook her head.
You decided to pack them up for your housemates instead, hopefully gaining some of their favour while Yves is away.
Evangeline wrapped her own untouched burger back up and dumped it into the paper bag.
You felt a buzz in your pocket. So you fished it out to see what was causing it.
A text from Yves was displayed on your notifications.
"I miss you."
You deem it as something unimportant, just a random thought that your boyfriend opt to share just for the sake of sharing. Totally not hinting you to call him back. So you turned your phone off and returned your device back to your pocket.
Your class is in 10 minutes anyways, you and Evangeline better hurry and wrap up soon.

Part. 7
Tumblr media
pairing: iwaizumi x black!fem reader
synopsis: on pointe! (updated weekly) previous parts in masterlist
word count: 3.1k
type: fanfiction
a/n: once again my drafts don't save :(
"Where are your friends?" Carter didn't mean to come off as rude. His friends convinced him to go eat lunch with his new girlfriend. Currently they were outside sharing garlic bread and bbq pineapple chicken kabobs. "Serenity is off doing god knows what. Frankie eats with the seniors. And the others are practicing off campus. What about you?" "They're sitting at the same table I always do inside. Can I come with to the competition?" "You'll be very disappointed in me if you came. I'm like the underdog. Plus, I don't know if Mrs. Aveline would let you." "Sure she will. You've never asked for anything before have you?" Elissa shook her head. "Then it should be all good. Now let me see your dance before lunch is over."
Elissa's grey skirt fluttered in the wind. Carter had to admit the uniform colors were cute. A pink sweater was over her white button down shirt and she wore grey legwarmers with white sneakers. Carter felt a bit plain wearing just the basic grey jacket and pants with a white button down. She threw her trash away and smiled at him. "You coming?" He nodded and threw his away as well. She led him to a clearing where no one was there to watch.
She set her backpack down and took off her shoes. Her pointe shoes were already ready and waiting in her backpack. "I wish I hadn't picked ballet. Lia's totally going to outperform me." Elissa began stretching. "Celia? Why would she?" "Have you seen her dance? I mean she sucks at everything else, but ballet she's fucking amazing." "Never even spoken to the girl." "The girls were talking in the dressing room about how they were jealous of her because she was dating Oikawa. If they knew Oikawa personally I would not want to date him," she emphasized the not.
Carter had always considered Elissa and her friends popular. Especially Oikawa. "What's wrong with em? He seemed fine last night." "He's just a little weird. And he has a really long skin care routine. He's a bit whiny. Don't get me wrong he has a lot of good qualities." Carter chuckled to himself. "Wonder why Oikawa gets all the ladies. If I was a girl I would choose Iwaizumi." "Omg Carter are you coming out as bisexual? Iwaizumi has fans too just not as much as Oikawa. I heard Y/n has her sights on him though." "Elissa I've been bisexual. This isn't anything new. Iwaizumi and Y/n would be cute." "I know right? I'm glad no one took you before I did."
Did Elissa think Carter had girls at his feet? Did dudes have crushes on him? "Do people really like me like that?" She looked at him as if he had just asked the dumbest question ever. "They say your fighting with Iwaizumi for the second hottest in the school." "I'm not even popular like that." Y/n stood up and handed Carter her phone. "Play the music when your ready." He waited for her to get in position and pressed play. Carter thought she looked regal and elegant while dancing. He imagined them dancing ballet together on Broadway.
When she finished he imagined the crowd clapping and demanding an encore. "How was it?" She sat next to him. "It was great. Just minor things like straightening your leg and stuff." She smoothed out her skirt. "I think I'm just too nervous about it all." "There's a reason Mrs. Aveline chose you for the team. You know she only likes perfection." Elissa gazed into his eyes. Carter felt his heart rate go up drastically. Elissa crashed her lips onto his and swirled her tongue around his. He cupped her cheeks and kissed just as passionately back.
This continued until they heard footsteps approaching. They both quickly turned around and saw a small rabbit picking at the grass. Carter sighed with relief and Elissa giggled. She snuggled into Carter's embrace until the bell rang. "Why can we hear the bell all the way out here," Elissa complained. "I'll carry your backpack for you," Carter picked it up before she could object. "Your lucky we have the same class next." She put her regular shoes back on and put the pointe ones in her backpack. The two headed off to their next class of the day.
The final bell rang and Elissa was dragging her feet along to Mrs. Aveline's office. She was even more reluctant when she saw Mrs. Aveline in her office. She knocked softly a couple times. "Come in." This was her first time in the office and it was exactly as Oikawa had described. She took a seat and Mrs. Aveline was steady typing on her computer. She glanced up. "Elissa, how may I help?" This was the nicest Mrs. Aveline had ever been towards her.
"I was wondering if Carter could come with us to the competition this week?" "Carter?" "Carter Haynes." Mrs. Aveline mumbled under her breath. "Why does he want to come along?" "He wants to see my solo." "Young love is difficult to understand. I'll allow it. It better not distract you." "Thank you Mrs. Aveline. I'll never ask for anything again."' She left the office and was surprised to see Carter waiting in the hallway. "So what'd she say?" "She said yes. Better go to sleep because I'm getting you at 1." "In the morning?" Carter's eyes bugged out of his head.
She nodded. "I'm going to get some sleep," she started back down stairs. "I'll walk you," he quickly caught up. "It's not that far you know?" "I know. I just like spending time with you."
Oikawa waved at Elissa as she walked by. He turned back towards Lia. "I'm trying to take you out on a date. What's so bad about that?" "The day before a competition. I can't screw up like last time." "You will screw up if you don't give yourself a break. Now come to the aquarium with me." She didn't respond for a few seconds. "Let me change first." Oikawa sighed in relief and agreed to meet up in ten minutes. Iwaizumi was in their shared dorm on the phone with Y/n.
He tried pestering him about their relationship, but it didn't work. He changed out of the uniform and went downstairs to find Lia outside the male dormitory. Her thick brown curls were held back by a claw clip. She wore a pink halter and low-rise brown jeans. Her white forces matched her felt tote bag. She sat on the front porch. She hopped up when she saw Oikawa.
She greeted him with a kiss on the cheek. He took her hand and guided her all the way to the train station. Since their school was relatively close to downtown it was unnecessary to take the train, but Oikawa thought it would be much quicker. The aquarium was one Y/n had showed him when they first became friends. It was on the smaller side and if you didn't know about it you would never find it. A Korean family owned it and also had a restaurant across the street.
Today it was filled with small children and Lia was confused as to why they were in such an unknown part of Sydney. "Kawa where are we?" "The Mangjol family aquarium of course. Their daughter is the only family member working though. The other employees are probably our age." Lia nodded. Oikawa must be rambling again.
They first looked at all the tropical fish. Lia pressed her face up against the glass. "Kawa look at how colorful they are." He smiled. "Let's go see the penguins." She followed after him. The attendant there let them sit in the penguin inclosure. First they had to put on a similar suit and then the employees told them not to touch or feed the penguins. Oikawa complained about not being able to pet them, but other than that Lia enjoyed the penguins.
"Let's go eat across the street. I can totally get us a discount." Oikawa and Lia took off the suits and thanked the employees. Lia skipped along across the street with Oikawa following behind. It was a brick building with Korean letters on a black sign above the door. Under it in English read "Korean Bbq House." Lia opened the door and an older woman, introducing herself as Chi-Yong Manjol, led them to a booth close to the kitchen. She had smile lines and wrinkles under her eyes.
Her hair was tied back and she wore an apron over her dress. She pulled out a pen and notebook from the apron. "I'll be your server for today. Another server will be over to cook your meal." "Can I just get rib eye steak with water?" She quickly jotted it down. "And for your side?" "Just some rice." "I'll have the spicy pork and squid with bean paste stew, whatever veggies you have, and a water." When the server walked away Lia kicked him under the table.
"Why'd you order so much?" "I come here all the time and order the same thing. No big deal." A younger boy with bubblegum pink hair on the left and jet black on the right came up with their order. He set everything down and got to work. Lia was amazed how he could cook the food for multiple tables at once. Once the meat was done Oikawa said they could finally eat. Lia munched and watched as he wrapped the pork inside the lettuce.
She did the same with her steak and began trying it with other vegetables. "You should really try this squid," he held it up to her mouth. "I don't know I mean doesn't it have suction cups and stuff?" "It tastes really good," he pushed the squid up to her lips. She reluctantly took a bite and chewed slowly. "It's okay. I don't like the texture." "That's fine. Just glad you had fun."
Oikawa paid for the meal and they walked back to the school hand in hand. "I'm still worried you know." "I know." "You made me forget for a little while." "That's the plan. Now go get some sleep." He kissed her hand and headed for the male dormitory. Iwaizumi was already fast asleep when he arrived. He slipped off his shirt and shoes and went to sleep.
It was the first time Iwaizumi woke up Oikawa for a competition. Oikawa sat up in bed as he watched Iwaizumi put on a t-shirt and sweats. "You should get to packing," Iwaizumi commented before going into the bathroom. Oikawa forced himself to get up and took his costume inside the garment bag from the hook on the door and folded it carefully in his backpack.
Oikawa barged in and joined his friend in brushing his teeth. "I really wish you wouldn't do that." Iwaizumi spit into the bowl. "It's fine. We're saving time this way. Now I need to do my hair." Iwaizumi and Oikawa continued to share the mirror. Oikawa brushed his hair while Iwaizumi spiked his up. The clock read 12:45 when they left.
Oikawa and Iwaizumi were sure they would be the first to get there. Elissa and Carter had completely beat them. "Hey Lissa. I didn't know Carter was coming," Oikawa sat next to her. "Told you to stop calling me that. I'm surprised the queen let him. Carter and I made breakfast for everyone. We tried something completely new." Elissa reached in her bag and brought out three plastic containers.
"Are these tacos for breakfast?" Oikawa seemed amazed. "Pancake tacos. Filled with cream cheese, strawberries, blueberries, and powedered sugar. My mom used to make em all the time," Carter proudly announced. Oikawa and Iwaizumi took one. "These are sooo good. Carter how come you haven't made them sooner?" Iwaizumi nodded in agreement with Oikawa. It was too early, in his opinion, to talk.
Y/n arrived next and happily took one. Frankie took one next and him and Y/n were doing handsprings on the sidewalk. Mrs. Aveline was last bringing Serenity, Kourtney, and Lia with her. "Mr. Haynes if you become the reason Elissa doesn't do well you won't have a chance at performing." Carter nodded and that seemed to satisfy her. Serenity had her dirty blonde hair in a messy bun and wore a simple white tank and shorts. She had her arm around Kourtney while playing with her ear length jet black hair. They seemed to be matching with white tanks, but Kourtney wore sweats. They sat at the back of the bus and Iwaizumi thought what could Serenity possibly be up to.
Frankie's blonde roots were starting to show through his mint green hair. He wore his usual black hoodie and jeans with Doc Martins. He sat in front of them. He'd been protective of Kourtney ever since she was a freshmen. Y/n sat next to Iwaizumi and fell asleep leaning on his shoulder. Elissa and Carter seemed to be the most energetic and kept yapping about new recipes to try. Lia was by the window fast asleep while Oikawa talked with them.
It was a long eight hours and Y/n woke up to Iwaizumi tapping her shoulder. She grabbed her bag and headed off of the bus with the rest of the team. Since everyone was in the solo category they were all rushing at once to get ready. Mrs. Aveline was nowhere to be found and Y/n was beyond frustrated because of it. She sat in front of her mirror and tried to focus on her makeup.
The threat of probation and possible suspension was looming over everyone's heads. Y/n didn't even hear Lia when she asked if she wanted to get some fresh air with her. "Huh?" "I asked if you wanted to take a quick breather." Y/n nodded slowly and followed the girl down the stairs and to the parking lot. As soon as they were away from everyone Lia broke down in tears.
She sat on the concrete as warm tears rolled down her face. Y/n quickly tried to dry them up so her makeup wouldn't be ruined. "Everybody there hates me," Lia said in between hiccups. "No they don't. They just see you as competition." "Aren't we teammates?" "Not this week." "Y/n Oikawa's gonna break up with me. I haven't made a single friend yet," she broke back down into tears.
"You're just going to have to prove everyone wrong then, huh?" Y/n gave her an optimistic smile. Lia sniffled and slowly stood up. They walked back to the dressing room and Lia reapplied her makeup. Y/n didn't know why she just comforted her competition. She had no time to dwell on this as their division was starting and she needed to run through her routine.
She saw Elissa and Carter in the halls practicing. Elissa was really talented, but Y/n knew she didn't stand a chance against Lia. The first one to dance was Oikawa. Everyone was too busy doing their routine backstage to watch his performance. Serenity was next and from the look of her face Y/n could tell something has gone terribly wrong. Frankie was next and it being his last year he clearly wanted to go out with a bang.
Kourtney was up, then Elissa, then Lia then Iwaizumi. He reassured her they were saving the best for last. She began her solo and felt as if she were flying. The motions were so fluid she felt like the stage was a huge pond and every step she took was on a water lily. The routine ended and the team went backstage to change and get lunch. Carter was from Melbourne so he showed them a restaurant called Chin Chin.
Despite it being lunch time, everyone ordered desserts. Frankie used his older brother's id to order a cocktail instead. "The queen is going to be so upset we aren't eating with her," Kourtney was stuck in Serenity's embrace. "Who cares? She should've been there to help us prepare," Serenity exclaimed loudly. They all paid for their own meals and left the restaurant.
To pass the time, they played tag in the halls and did cartwheels on the sidewalk outside. Mrs. Aveline got out of a taxi and caught them on the sidewalk. She gave them a stern look and went inside. "Are we supposed to follow her or?" Y/n peeked into the door. "She should've said so then," Oikawa was firm about it. They walked across the street and bought an ungodly amount of lemonade whenever it got too hot.
Lia said they must've paid the rent for the store for the next few months. They went inside when the sun began to set. Mrs. Aveline was on the phone when they got to the dressing room. She waved them away whenever they tried speaking to her. They eventually gave up and just headed for backstage.
The announcer named all the teams competing for their age division and then allowed the dancers on stage. Serenity was eighth and she grumbled that it was because she slipped on one of her stunts. Kourtney was seventh and Y/n had forgotten what kind of dance she'd done. Elissa was sixth and Y/n was fifth. She stood proudly next to Elissa holding her medal. "Bet you Lia gets first," Elissa whispered to her.
Iwaizumi was fourth, Lia surprisingly third, Oikawa second, and Frankie first. He beamed even though this had to be the 100th time he'd won first place. Mrs. Aveline was as quiet as a mouse as they packed up. "Who lost?" she asked. "I didn't lose. I fell," Serenity muttered. Mrs. Aveline simply nodded. "And who was right before you?" "Kourtney," she mumbled. "Both of you are on probation until you prove you can be a part of this team. I don't want to hear any complaining. Let's go home." Y/n wasn't surprised she didn't ask about who won.
She never wanted to give credit when it was due. She sat next to Elissa on the ride back and listened to her talk about how she hated how good Lia was at ballet. Y/n felt everyone probably hated Lia. They got back the same time they left yesterday. Serenity seemed angrier than usual about being on probation. Y/n guessed this had to be her fifth time on probation.
She sluggishly dragged her feet through the gate and to the right in the direction of the dormitories. She assumed Iwaizumi whispered good night, but her sugar rush had slowed down hours before. Lia was in their bathroom putting her hair in a bun and all Y/n could manage was putting on her bonnet and crashing on her bed.

Strengthening Your Immune System: Infection Resistance, Pathogen Defense, and Healthier Living
Tumblr media
With the ongoing global health concerns, boosting our immune system has never been more crucial. Our immune system acts as a defense mechanism, protecting us against harmful pathogens and promoting overall well-being. In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of infection resistance, pathogen defense, and how to lead a healthier lifestyle to strengthen your immune system. Section 1: Understanding Infection Resistance Infection resistance is the ability of our body to counteract infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. While some individuals seem to have a natural knack for fending off infections, most of us can take proactive measures to improve our infection resistance. 1. Maintain a Balanced Diet: A healthy and balanced diet is the foundation of a strong immune system. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your meals. Incorporate immune-boosting foods such as citrus fruits, broccoli, garlic, ginger, and turmeric. These foods are rich in antioxidants and essential nutrients that support infection resistance. 2. Hydrate Yourself: Staying adequately hydrated is crucial for proper immune function. Water helps flush out toxins, supports the production of immune cells, and ensures optimal body temperature regulation. Aim for at least 8-10 glasses of water each day. 3. Prioritize Sleep: Adequate sleep is often overlooked but plays a significant role in supporting infection resistance. Lack of sleep can impair immune function, so strive for 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night. Create a soothing sleep environment, establish a consistent bedtime routine, and limit exposure to electronic devices before bed. Section 2: Strengthening Pathogen Defense Mechanisms Pathogen defense refers to the body's ability to recognize, neutralize, and eliminate harmful pathogens. By understanding and supporting our natural defense mechanisms, we can significantly enhance our overall immunity. 1. Optimize Vitamin D Levels: Vitamin D is vital for a well-functioning immune system. Spend some time in the sun every day to ensure your body produces enough vitamin D. If sunlight exposure is limited, consider incorporating vitamin D-rich foods or supplements into your routine. 2. Regular Exercise: Engaging in regular physical activity can enhance immune function and improve overall health. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week. Choose activities you enjoy, such as walking, swimming, cycling, or yoga, and make them a part of your routine. 3. Manage Stress: Chronic stress can weaken the immune system, making us more susceptible to infections. Practice stress management techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, journaling, or engaging in hobbies to keep stress levels in check. Surround yourself with a support network and seek professional help if needed. Section 3: Embracing Healthier Living Habits Leading a healthier lifestyle is essential to fortify your immune system and promote optimal well-being. Small changes in your daily routine can have a significant impact on your overall health. 1. Maintain Good Hygiene: Practicing good hygiene habits can prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before meals and after using the restroom. Avoid touching your face, especially your mouth, nose, and eyes, as these are potential entry points for pathogens. 2. Avoid Smoking and Limit Alcohol Consumption: Smoking weakens the immune system, increasing the risk of respiratory infections and impairing the body's ability to fight off diseases. Moreover, excessive alcohol intake can also compromise immune function. Quitting smoking and moderation in alcohol consumption significantly contribute to a healthier immune system. 3. Stay Updated with Vaccinations: Vaccinations are one of the most effective measures to protect yourself against various infectious diseases. Stay up to date with recommended vaccinations to strengthen your immune system's ability to combat specific pathogens. Conclusion: By prioritizing infection resistance, strengthening pathogen defense mechanisms, and adopting healthier living habits, you can significantly boost your immune system's ability to protect your overall health. Best Skin Specialist in Nashik – Dr. Snehal Daga
Tumblr media
Are you truly aware of your skin type? It could be dry, delicate, or hagiographic skin. Knowing your real skin type can help you the next time you go to the cosmetics counter. Acne and other skin issues can worsen if you use the incorrect skincare products or unproven Internet remedies.
Adopting a daily skin care routine, regardless of your skin type, can undoubtedly help you reduce certain skin issues such as acne, scars, and dark spots. You can perform a daily skincare regimen that consists of four abecedarian steps twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
Here's how to start your day with a nutritious glow.
1.1 Skincare Routine in the Morning
1. Cleanser-
Use warm water and a gentle cleanser to wash your skin. Before applying moisturizer or makeup, make sure your skin is completely dry.
2. Moisturizer-
Apply a moisturizer or mask to your cheeks and neck. If you want to use a mask, choose one without fragrance or colorants that could irritate delicate skin.
3. Serum-
You can also use a vitamin C serum every morning—just avoid ones that contain retinol or other ingredients that are too powerful for your skin type!
4. Sunscreen-
For all skin type
If you're heading out in the sun later in the day (but only if!), finish your morning skin routine with an SPF 30 sunscreen.
The best beauty products are those that are gentle on all skin kinds. Strong substances should be avoided on your face because they can irritate and dry out your skin. Some of the finest cosmetics for all skin types contain antioxidants, which help protect your skin from free radicals and other environmental pollutants that can harm your cells.
Natural skin-beneficial ingredients will also be found in the finest cosmetics for all skin types. Minerals such as zinc and selenium, as well as vitamins such as vitamin E and vitamin A, are examples of these. These organic components mitigate the damage caused by free radicals and help to avoid them from forming in the first place.
Knowing how to use a cosmetic product correctly is another important aspect of choosing a quality product for all skin kinds. For example, if you use a cleanser or exfoliant that includes sugar, make sure to remove all of the sugar before applying moisturizer or makeup! Sugar residue on your face can create breakouts or clogged pores, both of which can cause flakiness due to dryness.
Avoid this DYI hacks:
1. Despite the fact that it includes citric acid, it is far too acidic and can cause black spots to form when exposed to sunlight. Lemon irritates and dries out the epidermis.
2. Baking water with a pH of 8 will stress your skin, reducing the quantity of water in your skin and causing dry skin.
3. Onion Raw garlic can cause eczema, skin inflammation, and watery pimples if eaten in large quantities.
4. Mouthwash Toothpaste ingredients may harm roots and absorbs canvas, in addition to drying out or irritating your skin.
5. Despite being an exfoliator, sugar's granular structure makes it too harsh for the skin on your face.
6. E vitamin, topically applied vitamin E has not been shown to enhance scar appearance and can irritate your skin.
7. Trying the aforementioned suggestions is beneficial, natural, and inexpensive.
Your outward appearance is determined by your exterior appearance, which clearly suggests that your face and skin are also affected. As a result, exercise caution when selecting any skin creams or methods that guarantee instant results. To keep your skin healthy and radiant, give it some TLC and adhere to a good skincare routine. Skin requires time to recover. Stay tuned for more skin-related articles and updates.

Daily Skincare Routine for Healthy Skin
Tumblr media
Are you genuinely familiar with your skin type? It could be sensitive, hagiographic, or dry skin. Knowing your true skin type can be useful when you visit the cosmetics counter the next time. Acne and other skin problems might really get worse if you use the wrong skincare products or unproven Internet practices.
No matter what type of skin you have, adopting a daily skincare regimen can unquestionably help you reduce certain skin issues like acne, scars, and dark spots. You can execute a daily skincare routine twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, that consists of four abecedarian steps.
Here's how to start your day with a healthy glow.
1.1 Morning Skin Routine
1. Cleanser-

2. Moisturizer-
Apply a moisturizer or mask to your face and neck. If you want to use a mask, choose one that doesn't have fragrance or colorants that could be irritating to sensitive skin.
3. Serum-
You can also apply a vitamin C serum every morning—just be sure not to use one that contains retinol or anything else that's too strong for your skin type!
4. Sunscreen-
For all skin type
Finish off your morning skin routine with an SPF 30 sunscreen if you're going out in the sun later in the day (but only if you are!).
The greatest beauty products are those that are mild on all different types of skin. Avoid using strong chemicals on your face because they might irritate and dry up your skin. Antioxidants, which help shield your skin from free radicals and other environmental pollutants that might harm your cells, are also found in some of the best cosmetics for all skin types.
The best cosmetics for all skin types will also include skin-beneficial natural components. These include minerals like zinc and selenium as well as antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin A. These organic components lessen the damage caused by free radicals and aid in their prevention from generating in the first place.
Knowing how to utilize a cosmetic product properly is another critical component of selecting a quality product for all skin types. For instance, if you use a cleanser or exfoliate that contains sugar, be careful to wipe off all of the sugar before following up with a moisturizer or makeup! Sugar residue can cause breakouts or clogged pores on your face, both of which can cause flakiness because of dryness.
Avoid this DYI hacks:
1. Although it contains citric acid, it is far too acidic and can cause black spots to develop after exposure to sunlight. Lemon irritates you and dries up your skin.
2. Baking water with a pH ranking of 8 will stress your skin, dramatically reduce the amount of water in your skin, and cause dry skin.
3. Onion when consumed in excess, raw garlic can cause eczema, skin inflammation, and watery pimples.
3. Mouthwash In addition to drying out or irritating your skin, toothpaste ingredients may damage roots and absorb canvas.
5. Sugar's granular structure makes it too abrasive for the skin on your face, even though sugar is an exfoliator.
6. E vitamin, Vitamin E applied topically has been shown not to improve scar appearance and can irritate your skin.
7. Trying the aforementioned tips is advantageous, natural, and affordable.
Your outward appearance, which clearly implies that your face and skin as well, depends on your exterior appearance. Therefore, use caution while choosing any skin creams or methods that promise immediate results. Give your skin some TLC and follow a good skincare regimen to keep it healthy and radiant. Skin needs time to recuperate. Keep checking back for additional posts and updates on skin.

may your days be meowy and bright
a @geraskierholidayexchange fic for @cosmokitt !! I hope you like it :D
Geralt glares at Jaskier from across the counter. He’s sitting at one of the tables, his head leaned in towards Eskel as they look at something on his phone. Geralt’s sure it can’t be anything good.
He clears his throat obnoxiously, and Jaskier jerks back and smiles at Geralt. Geralt’s not certain of the intent, but it comes off as guilty more than anything else.
Geralt finishes plating the jelly donuts to put in his pastry display, setting them down beside the Christmas cookies, before he wipes his hands off on his apron and ambles over to them. Jaskier slams his phone face down on the table and looks up, folding his hands.
Eskel shoots him a bright grin.
Geralt scowls. “What trouble are you two causing now?”
“Trouble? Us? I can’t even begin to tell you how offended I am,” Jaskier says, a hand dramatically clapped to his chest.
Eskel suppresses a snort. “Did you bring us donuts?”
“You’re going to eat me right out of business,” he says, but he plunks a plate down, anyway.
-
“Right, right. And you’re okay with that? Amazing, I’ll keep you updated. Thank you!” Jaskier trills into his phone as Geralt closes the door to their apartment behind him, catching the tail end of the conversation.
“Who was that?”
Jaskier stirs a pot on the stove and beams at Geralt. “That’s for me to know and you to find out.”
“You know I hate it when you say that.”
Jaskier ignores the comment. “Tell me what this needs,” he says instead, holding out a spoon.
Geralt comes closer, inhaling the scent of garlic bread from the stove. He takes the spoon and tastes the sauce, humming thoughtfully. “I think it’s fine.”
Jaskier rolls his eyes. “I don’t know why I even bother. You’d eat anything I slopped onto your plate.”
“Yes, and you’re welcome.”
Jaskier winds his arms around Geralt and catches his lips in a kiss. Geralt’s still not sure how he managed to get this lucky, but he’s not complaining. They’ve been living together for about a year now, ever since Jaskier had essentially announced he was moving in.
Well, he didn’t put it like that, exactly. He’d said, “My lease is up in a month, and I really don’t want to look for another place. If only there was a solution,” before draping himself over Geralt’s lap on the couch dramatically.
Who was Geralt to tell him no? He’s had a poor track record, historically.
Maybe that’s why, later, with his head on Jaskier’s chest as he absentmindedly curls his fingers around Jaskier’s chest hair, he only looks a little disgruntled when Jaskier asks him if they can get a cat.
“Come on, darling, it’s the holiday season.” Jaskier bats his eyes at Geralt.
Geralt grunts and shuts his eyes, wrapping an arm around Jaskier and pulling him closer.
Well, Jaskier thinks, it’s as good as a yes.
Jaskier gets off the elevator and looks around furtively before he waves Eskel off. There’s an indignant mewl as the carrier pitches to one side, and Jaskier hisses at Eskel to be more careful. Jaskier hefts his tote bag up higher on his shoulder and looks at his watch.
“Geralt is going to be home in an hour, so we don’t have much time,” he says, swinging open the door.
He was honestly only a little taken aback to see Geralt sitting in their recliner, because nothing can ever go right.
“What are you doing home?”
“Jaskier,” Geralt growls, and Jaskier gives a nervous laugh.
“This is Duchess,” he says with a flourish. “Just look at her, and I promise you won’t be able to stay mad.”
Geralt turns a betrayed look to Eskel. “You knew?”
“Geralt, it was on the shelter’s Facebook page that she needed a quiet and calm home. You’re the quietest and calmest person I know!”
“Serendipity? It sure seems like it,” Jaskier chimes in.
Geralt rolls his eyes and slowly stands up, walking towards them and peering into the cat carrier. “She seems a little standoffish, so I think you’ll really just be two peas in a pod,” Eskel says, and Geralt glares at him.
Eskel goes to open the carrier, but Jaskier stops him. “Wait! I read that we should introduce her to new spaces slowly so she doesn’t get overwhelmed!”
Geralt and Eskel stare at him for a beat. “God, you’re such a nerd,” Eskel says.
Jaskier opens his mouth to protest, but he did devote about four hours to research last night, so he’s not sure he has much of a leg to stand on.
“You’re going to love her,” he says to Geralt, instead.
Geralt huffs. Jaskier’s sure he’ll come around.
-
In the end, it turns out that it takes longer for Duchess to warm up to Geralt than the other way around, not that Geralt would ever admit it. When Jaskier comes home three days later, it’s to see Geralt’s legs sticking out from under their bed, trying to coax Duchess into coming out.
“Geralt?”
Geralt jerks up, hitting his head and cursing, sending Duchess in a black streak across the floor. Jaskier holds back a snicker. “Did you have a good day?”
“It was fine.”
“Uh huh. Not spoiled by a certain kitten who won’t let you pet her?”
Geralt slowly slides out from under the bed before sitting up and crossing his arms. Jaskier tries to contain his smirk at Geralt’s pout.
“No.”
“Right. How was work?”
Geralt brightens at the prospect of talking about the cafe. “I made a new blend today."
"Oh?"
"Even Lambert admitted it was good."
"You know it was amazing then," Jaskier says in a sing song voice. "Did you bring me any?"
Geralt quirks a smile at him. "You want old coffee?"
Jaskier shrugs.
Geralt sighs. "It's in the fridge, you animal."
"Thank you, love." Jaskier grins and bounces off to retrieve it. He finds it in the door of their refrigerator, with a heart on it. Jaskier’s sure Eskel teased Geralt about it relentlessly.
He dumps it into a pot on the stovetop to heat it up, because Geralt will have a coronary if he just nukes it. When it's just the right side of warm, he dumps it back into the cup.
He makes sure to drink it with the heart facing out and pretends he doesn't notice Geralt's tiny smile.
"How did the donut making go today?"
"Good. Sure as fuck beats making cut outs."
Jaskier tosses him a hopeful glance.
"They're in the microwave."
Jaskier dashes back out to the kitchen, Duchess darting out from under the bed to trail him. Geralt frowns at them both.
-
By the end of week two, it's as if Duchess has always been with them. Geralt went through the first week terrified he was somehow going to fuck her up, but it has mostly worn off. He's resigned to the fact that she's never going to leave him alone now, as evidenced by the insistent kneading on Geralt’s chest that wakes him up. He groans and turns over, dislodging Duchess from his torso. She gives him an indignant mrp, and he pulls a pillow over his head. “Jaskier, go feed your damn cat.”
Duchess moves on from Geralt to walk over Jaskier’s face, and Jaskier makes a disgruntled noise before he clambors out of bed.
Geralt tries to go back to sleep to no avail. He grumbles to himself. He wakes up early enough as it is to get food in the ovens and the coffee brewing before his shop opens; he certainly doesn’t need to be getting up any earlier than that.
There’s the clinking of cat food pouring into a bowl and then Jaskier is stumbling back into bed. He tugs Geralt close, leaning in to give him a kiss, but Geralt puts a hand on his chest. “You just had cat feet all over your face. I know exactly where those paws have been.”
As if on cue, Duchess scratches around in her litter box, and Jaskier sighs.
Jaskier burrows back into the blankets, putting his cold feet on Geralt. Geralt’s alarm goes off a few minutes later, and Geralt heaves himself about of bed, much to Jaskier’s mumbled protest. Geralt is sure he’s just upset because his feet are still cold. Geralt tugs the pillow out from under Jaskier on his way out, giving him a soft whack. “Love you,” Geralt grunts.
Jaskier takes the pillow and hugs it to his chest, giving Geralt a sour look. “I love you, too, you menace.”
Geralt gives Jaskier a private grin and goes about his morning routine, practically feeling Jaskier’s eyes burning into his back.
“See something you like?”
“You know I do.”
“Hmm.”
“Come on, Geralt. You don't even work today."
And that... is compelling. Geralt had completely forgotten Eskel was going to run things today, giving him the day off for once for the last day of Hannakuh. Jaskier tugs him back onto the bed and pulls him into a sound kiss.
They're interrupted by an indignant yowling, and Geralt pulls away to stare at Duchess with dismay. "Is she going to do this every time?"
Jaskier shudders. "God, I hope not. This is why we don't have kids, Geralt! I'm not prepared to give up my sex life!"
Geralt blinks; it's way too early for Jaskier to be discussing having children with him.
"Hmm. Is that the only reason?"
Jaskier pauses, his hands tangling in the tassels on their blanket. "I don't know, is it?"
Geralt shrugs. "I'm—amiable."
"Amiable? What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Do you want kids?"
Geralt feels like he's stripping himself bare, but it's not as uncomfortable as he would have imagined when Jaskier is the one he's doing it for.
"I can...imagine it."
"Yeah?" Jaskier asks softly, tilting his head up to look at Geralt.
"Yeah."
Duchess chooses that moment to jump up on the bed between them, making Jaskier laugh and stroke his hand through her fur, a fond look on his face that makes Geralt melt just a little.
Duchess moves on from Jaskier to climb into Geralt's lap, and after she gives him a little headbutt and hops off of his lap as well, Jaskier pulls him up.
"Come on, let's play dreidel. I'm going to beat you this time."
Geralt rolls his eyes. "Not a chance."
Geralt lets Jaskier pull him into their living room, and Geralt drapes a blanket around his shoulders as Jaskier putters around making them coffee. Geralt is sure it will be way too weak; but he'll drink it anyway. He's content to just have someone besides him make it for once.
Jaskier comes back with two mugs and hands one to Geralt.
"Thank you," Geralt says, taking a sip.
"Okay?" Jaskier asks, like he does every time.
"Perfect," Geralt replies, like he does every time.
Jaskier beams and retrieves the top from their side table. "I'm serious, I'm going to win."
Geralt hums, unimpressed. He gets up to go find their chocolate coins they use for the betting pool. Geralt finds them in the cupboard, rolling his eyes fondly as he notices there are definitely less of them remaining than there were the last time they played.
Geralt returns, and they start playing, the game going on for a while before Jaskier gets frustrated.
The dreidel finally stops spinning, falling on its side with a gentle clunk, and Geralt slowly looks up from it to grin at Jaskier.
Jaskier crosses his arms across his chest and pouts. “This is entirely unfair that you’re so good at this. This is a game of luck!”
Geralt hums as he finishes pulling in all of the gelt on the table closer to him. “It’s not. Heart of the dreidel.”
“I never should have made you watch Yugi-Oh with me,” Jaskier huffs. “Well, in that case, it’s even worse. You’re going to share with me, right?” He scoots his chair closer to Geralt until he’s practically in his lap.
Geralt picks up one of the chocolates and tilts it in his fingers, admiring the way the wrapper catches the light. “Hmm. I’m not sure about that.”
He peels the gold foil off, popping the gelt into his mouth. Jaskier makes an injured sound, and Geralt tugs him completely into his lap. “I might be persuaded,” he murmurs and presses his lips to Jaskier’s.

I Think You Are Beautiful
Word Count:~2100, one shot
Pairing: Jack Kline x Reader
Warnings: fluff, one mention of self injury, that’s about it?? swearing?
Summary: Meeting Jack Kline was not like anything you expected. After getting the call from Dean that they were heading back to the bunker, you expected some scary-ass monster. Instead, you saw the kindest eyes.
Tumblr media
Jack was only four days old when he met you.
After Sam and Dean found Jack, they planned to take him back to the bunker. This made Dean uneasy, seeing as his younger sister lived with them. You were young, 22 to be exact, and didn’t have much experience in defending yourself. Going to college online, you majored in Library Science and planned to become a librarian. Whenever Sam and Dean needed some research done you were more than happy to pitch in, but that’s as close to hunting as you got.
As Sam and Jack made their way over to the Impala, Dean pulled out his phone. You were number 2 on his speed dial, after Sam and before Castiel.
“Hey, you guys alright? It has been days since you left to go meet up with Kelly and Cas.” you practically yell after picking up the phone within seconds of it ringing. You knew that they were going to try and get the Nephilim before Lucifer and the lack of an update so far has made you panicky.
“Y/N, I am so sorry we haven’t called. We will explain everything once we get back but I just wanted to let you know we are heading to the bunker now. We’ll be there by later tonight. That’s not why I called. I wanted to warn you that we have Jack and he is now a fully grown adult,” Dean said. Your eyebrows raised when you heard the last sentence.
“Wait what? When did Kelly give birth?” you ask. It felt like a stupid question but you had no clue what to ask.
“Four days ago. He was a full-size man in the blink of an eye and then just stopped growing. It is weird as hell but I guess we gotta roll with it. Honestly, Y/N, I don’t trust him. Sam seems to think that Jack is good or whatever but I don’t think so. He is Lucifer’s kid and crazy powerful. When we get back I want you to try and avoid him. Got it?” Dean instructed.
“Yeah, Dean. I got it.”
---------------------------------
You were in the kitchen, cooking dinner for you and the boys. Cooking was something you enjoyed and it was somewhat meditative. Your focus, however, was quickly brought to the sound of the bunker door opening. If you were being honest with yourself, you were nervous to meet the Nephilim. You had no idea what he was like but you had to keep reminding yourself that Sam and Dean would never put you in harm’s way. Or at least, not purposefully.
Three pairs of footsteps filled the silence as the men made their way to the kitchen. You were almost finished with the meal when they entered. Standing in between your older brothers was a man who looked to be around your age. He was shorter than Sam and Dean, which honestly most people were. His face was one of innocence as he looked around the kitchen. Something told you that he wasn’t the monster you had expected.
“Jack, this is Y/N, our little sister. Y/N, this is Jack,” Sam introduced. It was clear he was more comfortable around Jack than Dean was. You could see the tension in Dean’s body, not letting himself relax like he usually did around the bunker.
“Hi, Jack,” you smile, “I hope you like pasta.”
“Hello,” Jack gave you a small smile and wave back, “I have never had pasta.”
“Oh,” you answer. It was tough to remind yourself that he was only a few days old and yet to experience most things. “Well, I guess we will see then. Sam, Dean, I’m almost done here. If you guys want you can wait in the library and I’ll bring everything out?” The boys nodded and ushered Jack to the library. This was your regular routine for when the brothers were present in the bunker. You liked to make this place feel like a home, a place where they could feel like a normal family. When the boys were off on a hunt you usually got take-out and sat in your bed to watch Netflix. It had been a routine that you enjoyed.
You filled up a bread bowl with pieces of garlic bread and put all of the pasta into a dish. You had also prepped a salad, which you knew Dean would avoid like the plague. Regardless, you liked to have a balanced meal. You brought the dishes out to the library, placing them into the center of the table. “Drinks?”
Sam and Dean both requested a beer, Jack following in their lead. It was obvious he looked to them both, especially Dean, to know how to act. It brought a small smile to your face. You nodded, grabbing the drinks as well as plates and utensils before settling down at the table. Dean sat next to you while Jack and Sam were seated across the table. The four of you served yourselves, piling food onto the plates.
“Wow! Pasta is good!” Jack exclaimed after the first bite and you couldn’t help but smile widely.
“I’m glad you like it, Jack,” you tell him. He looked at you and for a second just stared. It wasn’t uncomfortable or creepy, more like he was just taking in the sight. It almost made you blush but he turned back to his food before that happened. The four of you made small talk, well mostly just you and the brothers. Jack was, for the most part, observing the mannerisms of the Winchesters.
While the three of you shared similarities, Jack noticed the differences between each of you. Dean was tough and always slightly on edge. Jack guessed that hunting had made him hard, ready for whatever obstacle was thrown his way. Some might see Dean as mean, but Jack saw someone who was strong. It was obvious that his siblings meant the world to him.
Sam was softer than Dean but still a warrior. He had a kindness to him that made Jack feel comfortable in his presence. Sam let Jack be who he was, not trying to make him grow up or act a certain way. It was a nice contrast from the eldest brother who every so often looked at Jack like a monster. No, Sam was nice. There were many things that Jack didn’t understand yet and Sam was always patient with him, explaining the complexities of life.
Then there was Y/N. Jack had only known her for a few hours but was fascinated by her. Other than his mother, she was the first woman that he had more than a minute’s interaction with. Jack didn’t understand why, but all he knew was that he wanted to be near her. She had the warmest smile that was contagious. Y/N had barely spoken to him but Jack was already addicted to the sound of her voice. He wanted to hear you explain the world to him.
The conversation had slightly died down as everyone continued to eat when Jack broke the silence.
“Y/N?” Jack asked, looking across the table at you. You gave him another one of your warm smiles.
“Yes, Jack?” you reply.
“I think you are beautiful,” he said simply. Your smile widened even further, a blush quickly appearing on your cheeks. Sam’s eyes widened slightly in amusement while Dean choked on the beer he was drinking. None of you had expected that.
“Why thank you, Jack,” you told him. It was a heartfelt compliment, as Jack didn’t yet know that people lied about these things. He was still like a child, speaking honestly without fear of embarrassment. You were flattered, while Dean on the other hand was not happy.
“Nope. I don’t like this, I don’t trust you! And I sure as hell don’t want you flirting with my baby sister,” Dean snapped. Jack looked at him in confusion.
“Flirting?” Jack asked. It was obvious that he wasn’t aware of the concept. Before Dean had a chance to continue chewing him out, you interrupted.
“Flirting is when you talk in a way that shows you are attracted to someone. That you want to be more than a friend with that person,” you explained. Jack looked over to Dean, sinking into his seat once he saw the glare that the man was giving him. You gave Dean a quick glare of your own before looking back to Jack. “Don’t worry Jack. You didn’t do anything wrong. Dean is just protective of me but I am an adult. If I was uncomfortable I would tell you.”
“Okay,” Jack nodded at your words. He was glad that he didn’t upset you. Jack wasn’t aware that his words could make you uncomfortable. He also couldn’t help but reprimand himself for making Dean mad yet again. All he wanted was for Dean to like him and know that he wasn’t bad. Well, Jack hoped that he wasn’t bad.
--------------------
Once dinner was over, Sam and Dean took Jack to show him his room while you went to take a shower. You were happy with how the night had gone. It didn’t take long for Dean to calm down after Jack’s compliment and the tension eased.
You took your shower, wrapping a towel around yourself before going to walk back to your room. The bunker was silent as you exited the bathroom, the brothers having gone to their rooms after showing Jack his. You padded your way back to your room, bare feet on the cool concrete. Just as you were about to open your bedroom door, you heard a strange noise coming from down the hall. You quickly and quietly got into your room, throwing on sweats and a tank top before grabbing your gun off of the nightstand. It was moments like this that you were thankful for the many, many gun lessons that Dean had forced you to attend.
Tiptoeing down the fall, still barefoot, you saw the door to Jack’s new room slightly open. You put your hand flat on it, pushing it open slowly. What you saw made your eyes widen in shock. There was Jack, his back to you, stabbing himself over and over again with a kitchen knife.
“Jack?” you said softly as not to startle the boy. You put your hand on his shoulder and he turned to face you, his face clearly upset. “What are you doing?” Jack pulled the knife from his chest, looking down at the blood-covered weapon.
“What am I?” Jack asked. You walked to stand in front of him and saw that his shirt was ripped and covered in blood, but his skin had completely healed. Jack’s eyes were filled with unshed tears as he looked at you.
“You are special, Jack, and that isn’t a bad thing. Why would you do this to yourself?” you were worried about him.
“I… I can’t die. I won’t die. What if Dean’s right? What if I am just like my father?” Jack’s voice wavered as he asked you the heartbreaking questions. You put your hand on top of his, slowly taking the knife from his grasp. You placed it down on the table behind you before turning back to the Nephilim. You put your hands on his face, forcing him to look right into your eyes.
“You are nothing like your father Jack. Dean is wrong and I know he is. You are not evil or bad or wrong. You don’t have to follow in anyone’s footsteps. Not Lucifer’s, not Dean’s, and not Sam’s. You get to choose your path, whatever it may be,” your voice was strong, wanting to get the information to sink in. Jack looked at you, the sadness in his eyes slowly dissipating.
“You truly think that?” Jack whispered.
“Yes, Jack. Let me ask you this, what kind of person do you want to be?”
“I want to be good. I want to help people. I… I want to be someone that you and Sam and Dean could be proud of,” Jack nodded to himself.
“Well, Jack,” you give him a soft smile, “I think that is quite doable. Now, no more hurting yourself, alright? The first person you can help is yourself. Okay?” Jack nodded, this time to you.
“Okay.”
“Jack, I am here for you. Anything you need.”
“Um… can I have a hug?” Jack asked. He had never had a real hug before but somehow knew that it would comfort him. You took your hands off of his cheeks, wrapping your wrists behind his neck and pulling him into you. Jack let his head rest on your shoulder, his arms raising to go around your waist. The two of you stood like that for a long time, just holding one another.
Jack was new to life and didn’t know many things, but he knew one thing. That he had never felt better than when he was in your arms.

TAYLOR SWIFT: 30 THINGS I LEARNED BEFORE TURNING 30
According to my birth certificate, I turn 30 this year. It's weird because part of me still feels 18 and part of me feels 283, but the actual age I currently am is 29. I've heard people say that your thirties are "the most fun!" So I'll definitely keep you posted on my findings on that when I know. But until then, I thought I'd share some lessons I've learned before reaching 30, because it's 2019 and sharing is caring.
ONE: I learned to block some of the noise. Social media can be great, but it can also inundate your brain with images of what you aren’t, how you’re failing, or who is in a cooler locale than you at any given moment. One thing I do to lessen this weird insecurity laser beam is to turn off comments. Yes, I keep comments off on my posts. That way, I’m showing my friends and fans updates on my life, but I’m training my brain to not need the validation of someone telling me I look . I’m also blocking out anyone who might feel the need to tell me to “go die in a hole ho” while I’m having my coffee at nine in the morning. I think it’s healthy for your self-esteem to need less internet praise to appease it, especially when three comments down you could unwittingly see someone telling you that you look like a weasel that got hit by a truck and stitched back together by a drunk taxidermist. An actual comment I received once.
TWO: Being sweet to everyone all the time can get you into a lot of trouble. While it may be born from having been raised to be a polite young lady, this can contribute to some of your life’s worst regrets if someone takes advantage of this trait in you. Grow a backbone, trust your gut, and know when to strike back. Be like a snake—only bite if someone steps on you.
THREE: Trying and failing and trying again and failing again is normal. It may not feel normal to me because all of my trials and failures are blown out of proportion and turned into a spectator sport by tabloid takedown culture (you had to give me one moment of bitterness, come on). BUT THAT SAID, it’s good to mess up and learn from it and take risks. It’s especially good to do this in your twenties because we are searching. That’s GOOD. We’ll always be searching but never as intensely as when our brains are still developing at such a rapid pace. No, this is not an excuse to text your ex right now. That’s not what I said. Or do it, whatever, maybe you’ll learn from it. Then you’ll probably forget what you learned and do it again.... But it’s fine; do you, you’re searching.
FOUR: I learned to stop hating every ounce of fat on my body. I worked hard to retrain my brain that a little extra weight means curves, shinier hair, and more energy. I think a lot of us push the boundaries of dieting, but taking it too far can be really dangerous. There is no quick fix. I work on accepting my body every day.
FIVE: Banish the drama. You only have so much room in your life and so much energy to give to those in it. Be discerning. If someone in your life is hurting you, draining you, or causing you pain in a way that feels unresolvable, blocking their number isn’t cruel. It’s just a simple setting on your phone that will eliminate drama if you so choose to use it.
SIX: I’ve learned that society is constantly sending very loud messages to women that exhibiting the physical signs of aging is the worst thing that can happen to us. These messages tell women that we aren’t allowed to age. It’s an impossible standard to meet, and I’ve been loving how outspoken Jameela Jamil has been on this subject. Reading her words feels like hearing a voice of reason amongst all these loud messages out there telling women we’re supposed to defy gravity, time, and everything natural in order to achieve this bizarre goal of everlasting youth that isn’t even remotely required of men.
SEVEN: My biggest fear. After the Manchester Arena bombing and the Vegas concert shooting, I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months. There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe. My fear of violence has continued into my personal life. I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds. Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things. Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and the faith I have in humanity. We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears.
EIGHT: I learned not to let outside opinions establish the value I place on my own life choices. For too long, the projected opinions of strangers affected how I viewed my relationships. Whether it was the general internet consensus of who would be right for me, or what they thought was “couples goals” based on a picture I posted on Instagram. That stuff isn’t real. For an approval seeker like me, it was an important lesson for me to learn to have my OWN value system of what I actually want.
NINE: I learned how to make some easy cocktails like Pimm’s cups, Aperol spritzes, Old-Fashioneds, and Mojitos because…2016.
TEN: I’ve always cooked a LOT, but I found three recipes I know I’ll be making at dinner parties for life: Ina Garten’s Real Meatballs and Spaghetti (I just use packaged bread crumbs and only ground beef for meat), Nigella Lawson’s Mughlai Chicken, and Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Fajitas with Molé Sauce. Getting a garlic crusher is a whole game changer. I also learned how to immediately calculate Celsius to Fahrenheit in my head. (Which is what I’m pretty sure the internet would call a “weird flex.”)
ELEVEN: Recently I discovered Command tape, and I definitely would have fewer holes in my walls if I’d hung things that way all along. This is not an ad. I just really love Command tape.
TWELVE: Apologizing when you have hurt someone who really matters to you takes nothing away from you. Even if it was unintentional, it’s so easy to just apologize and move on. Try not to say “I’m sorry, but...” and make excuses for yourself. Learn how to make a sincere apology, and you can avoid breaking down the trust in your friendships and relationships.
THIRTEEN: It’s my opinion that in cases of sexual assault, I believe the victim. Coming forward is an agonizing thing to go through. I know because my sexual assault trial was a demoralizing, awful experience. I believe victims because I know firsthand about the shame and stigma that comes with raising your hand and saying “This happened to me.” It’s something no one would choose for themselves. We speak up because we have to, and out of fear that it could happen to someone else if we don’t.
FOURTEEN: When tragedy strikes someone you know in a way you’ve never dealt with before, it’s okay to say that you don’t know what to say. Sometimes just saying you’re so sorry is all someone wants to hear. It’s okay to not have any helpful advice to give them; you don’t have all the answers. However, it’s not okay to disappear from their life in their darkest hour. Your support is all someone needs when they’re at their lowest point. Even if you can’t really help the situation, it’s nice for them to know that you would if you could.
FIFTEEN: Vitamins make me feel so much better! I take L-theanine, which is a natural supplement to help with stress and anxiety. I also take magnesium for muscle health and energy.
SIXTEEN: Before you jump in headfirst, maybe, I don’t know...get to know someone! All that glitters isn’t gold, and first impressions actually aren’t everything. It’s impressive when someone can charm people instantly and own the room, but what I know now to be more valuable about a person is not their charming routine upon meeting them (I call it a “solid first 15”), but the layers of a person you discover in time. Are they honest, self-aware, and slyly funny at the moments you least expect it? Do they show up for you when you need them? Do they still love you after they’ve seen you broken? Or after they’ve walked in on you having a full conversation with your cats as if they’re people? These are things a first impression could never convey.
SEVENTEEN: After my teen years and early twenties of sleeping in my makeup and occasionally using a Sharpie as eyeliner (DO NOT DO IT), I felt like I needed to start being nicer to my skin. I now moisturize my face every night and put on body lotion after I shower, not just in the winter, but all year round, because, why can’t I be soft during all the seasons?!
EIGHTEEN: Realizing childhood scars and working on rectifying them. For example, never being popular as a kid was always an insecurity for me. Even as an adult, I still have recurring flashbacks of sitting at lunch tables alone or hiding in a bathroom stall, or trying to make a new friend and being laughed at. In my twenties I found myself surrounded by girls who wanted to be my friend. So I shouted it from the rooftops, posted pictures, and celebrated my newfound acceptance into a sisterhood, without realizing that other people might still feel the way I did when I felt so alone. It’s important to address our long-standing issues before we turn into the living embodiment of them.
NINETEEN: Playing mind games is for the chase. In a real relationship or friendship, you’re shooting yourself in the foot if you don’t tell the other person how you feel, and what could be done to fix it. No one is a mind reader. If someone really loves you, they want you to verbalize how you feel. This is real life, not chess.
TWENTY: Learning the difference between lifelong friendships and situationships. Something about “we’re in our young twenties!” hurls people together into groups that can feel like your chosen family. And maybe they will be for the rest of your life. Or maybe they’ll just be your comrades for an important phase, but not forever. It’s sad but sometimes when you grow, you outgrow relationships. You may leave behind friendships along the way, but you’ll always keep the memories.
TWENTY-ONE: Fashion is all about playful experimentation. If you don’t look back at pictures of some of your old looks and cringe, you’re doing it wrong. See: Bleachella.
TWENTY-TWO: How to fight fair with the ones you love. Chances are you’re not trying to hurt the person you love and they aren’t trying to hurt you. If you can wind the tension of an argument down to a conversation about where the other person is coming from, there’s a greater chance you can remove the shame of losing a fight for one of you and the ego boost of the one who “won” the fight. I know a couple who, in the thick of a fight, say “Hey, same team.” Find a way to defuse the anger that can spiral out of control and make you lose sight of the good things you two have built. They don’t give out awards for winning the most fights in your relationship. They just give out divorce papers.
TWENTY-THREE: I learned that I have friends and fans in my life who don’t care if I’m #canceled. They were there in the worst times and they’re here now. The fans and their care for me, my well-being, and my music were the ones who pulled me through. The most emotional part of the Reputation Stadium Tour for me was knowing I was looking out at the faces of the people who helped me get back up. I’ll never forget the ones who stuck around.
TWENTY-FOUR: I’ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family. Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again. It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else. My mom’s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.
TWENTY-FIVE: I remember people asking me, “What are you gonna write about if you ever get happy?” There’s a common misconception that artists have to be miserable in order to make good art, that art and suffering go hand in hand. I’m really grateful to have learned this isn’t true. Finding happiness and inspiration at the same time has been really cool.
TWENTY-SIX: I make countdowns for things I’m excited about. When I’ve gone through dark, low times, I’ve always found a tiny bit of relief and hope in getting a countdown app (they’re free) and adding things I’m looking forward to. Even if they’re not big holidays or anything, it’s good to look toward the future. Sometimes we can get overwhelmed in the now, and it’s good to get some perspective that life will always go on, to better things.
TWENTY-SEVEN: I learned that disarming someone’s petty bullying can be as simple as learning to laugh. In my experience, I’ve come to see that bullies want to be feared and taken seriously. A few years ago, someone started an online hate campaign by calling me a snake on the internet. The fact that so many people jumped on board with it led me to feeling lower than I’ve ever felt in my life, but I can’t tell you how hard I had to keep from laughing every time my 63-foot inflatable cobra named Karyn appeared onstage in front of 60,000 screaming fans. It’s the Stadium Tour equivalent of responding to a troll’s hateful Instagram comment with “lol.” It would be nice if we could get an apology from people who bully us, but maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it.
TWENTY-EIGHT: I’m finding my voice in terms of politics. I took a lot of time educating myself on the political system and the branches of government that are signing off on bills that affect our day-to-day life. I saw so many issues that put our most vulnerable citizens at risk, and felt like I had to speak up to try and help make a change. Only as someone approaching 30 did I feel informed enough to speak about it to my 114 million followers. Invoking racism and provoking fear through thinly veiled messaging is not what I want from our leaders, and I realized that it actually is my responsibility to use my influence against that disgusting rhetoric. I’m going to do more to help. We have a big race coming up next year.
TWENTY-NINE: I learned that your hair can completely change texture. From birth, I had the curliest hair and now it is STRAIGHT. It’s the straight hair I wished for every day in junior high. But just as I was coming to terms with loving my curls, they’ve left me. Please pray for their safe return.
THIRTY: My mom always tells me that when I was a little kid, she never had to punish me for misbehaving because I would punish myself even worse. I’d lock myself in my room and couldn’t forgive myself, as a five-year-old. I realized that I do the same thing now when I feel I’ve made a mistake, whether it’s self-imposed exile or silencing myself and isolating. I’ve come to a realization that I need to be able to forgive myself for making the wrong choice, trusting the wrong person, or figuratively falling on my face in front of everyone. Step into the daylight and let it go.

Chapter 4: A Feeling That I Belonged
        “Are you nervous?”
Logan squeezed the hand laced in his. “Nope.” He looked straight ahead, unsuccessfully concealing a waver in his voice.
Patton smiled and squeezed back. “You’ve got nothing to worry about, you know.”
        “I know.”
Logan watched Patton take a breath next to him. The sun had gone down, the night wind blew straight through his jacket. The light above them bathed the porch in soft gold, illuminating the faded bricks of the house.
        Patton inhaled. “You ready?”
Logan’s stomach twisted. “Yeah.” He turned to Patton. “Are you?”
Patton smiled softly. He rubbed his thumb over Logan’s forefinger. “No, I don’t think so. Not yet.”
The corners of Logan’s mouth turned up. He took a deep breath, hearing Virgil’s voice in his head. In for four, hold for seven, out for eight. Four, seven, eight. Four, seven, eight.
Logan turned back to Patton and nodded. Patton reached out and opened the front door, leading Logan in behind him.
As they walked through the foyer straight into the kitchen, Logan breathed in the smell of garlic and frying plantains. Patton never let go of his hand, and Logan already felt more at ease.
A tall man stood at the kitchen sink washing dishes while a woman cooked at the stove. Logan was astonished at how much she looked like Patton. She turned and broke into a smile.
“Hey, Mami.” Patton grinned and stepped towards her, enveloping her in a hug.
“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Rojas,” Logan said, smiling politely.
“Oh please, no need for formalities.” She reached out and hugged him as well, to Logan’s surprise. “It’s Mia and Diego.”
Diego shook his hand, beaming. “Logan, right?”
Logan nodded. “Pleased to meet you.”
The conversation continued with polite small talk, and Logan started to relax. He knew he was good with people, he knew it was illogical to be nervous about meeting Patton’s parents. And when he found himself starting to panic, Patton always seemed to notice and calmed him down by grabbing his hand or laying a palm on his arm.
They sat down to eat, and Logan could feel all three sets of eyes inconspicuously on him. He knew they were attempting to secretly gauge his reaction to the food. Luckily, he didn’t have to pretend to enjoy it. Logan expressed his admiration and gratitude and the Rojases glanced at each other, concealing a smile.
Somehow, as it always seemed to do, Logan found the conversation shifting to the topic that never ceased to come up.
Patton mentioned, in passing, being thankful for the support his parents had given him, and Logan by proxy. And suddenly, Logan was once again talking about his past.
“What about your parents, Logan?” asked Mia. “I hope you were given the support you needed.”
Logan nodded. “My mother was always very supportive.”
Diego raised his eyebrow. “Not your father?”
Patton jumped in. “Papi, I don’t think -”
Logan slid his hand into Patton’s under the table and squeezed. It’s okay. It would have come out naturally at some point anyway.
“I came out to my parents when I was twelve,” Logan said. “My mom was the religious one, so I assumed my father would have a better reaction. He didn’t. He probably would have kicked me out, but my mom wouldn’t let him. So he left.”
The Rojases nodded. Patton rubbed his thumb over Logan’s finger and glanced over, eyes full of concern and support.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that,” said Mia. Logan appreciated the lack of pity they gave him. The aw, you poor baby routine was grating. Logan always felt invalidated, as if since it was fresh information for everyone else, he was supposed to let everyone else get comfortable before he was allowed to be over it. Yes, something unpleasant had happened to Logan. But he lived, and he had grown up. And that was what he found valuable.
“I hope you know that you’ll always have a place here, Logan.” Diego offered a warm smile, and Mia nodded. Logan couldn’t help the corners of his mouth going up as well, and Patton squeezed his hand.
“They liked you,” Patton said that night, smiling and climbing into bed beside Logan.
Logan sighed, and set down the book he had been trying to focus on for a few minutes. “Are you sure?”
“Of course!” Patton laughed. “My parents don’t have high standards for me. You clearly liked my mother’s mofongo, which is pretty much where the bar is for being welcomed into the family.” He leaned on his elbow and looked at Logan earnestly.
Logan rolled to face him. “I just don’t know what I’d do if they didn’t like me.”
Patton shook his head in amusement. “You’re adorable.” He took off his glasses and set them on the bedside table. Logan turned off the lamp on his side and lifted his arms so Patton could cuddle against his chest like he liked to. They stayed like that, quiet, intimate, and Logan focused on Patton’s breathing until it evened out.
“How can you be sure they liked me?” Logan whispered, thinking Patton had drifted off.
To Logan’s surprise, Patton pulled him closer. “I promise, I just can.”
Logan looked down and met Patton’s eyes. “But how?”
Patton sighed sadly. “Because you’re you. They know you love me. They know I love you. They trust me to pick someone who’ll be good for me. And besides, you were the perfect boyfriend tonight. Every parent’s dream suitor.”
Logan smiled. Patton reached up and laid his hand on Logan’s cheek. “But it wouldn’t matter if they didn’t like you. It wouldn’t influence me. I love you. Nothing’s gonna change that.”
Logan’s chest squeezed. “I love you, too.”
“I know.” Patton smiled. Logan pulled him back into his arms and Patton nuzzled his head under Logan’s chin. Logan pressed a kiss to the top of Patton’s head and let himself sleep peacefully.
 ~
Patton was getting married at the end of June.
The month before was hectic. It seemed like every day was slipping away uncontrollably, but Logan also couldn’t get past it fast enough.
He tried to make time for his friends, but they were always busy with preparations. Besides, Logan knew he owed it to Virgil to maintain a friendship, but he had only met Roman through Patton, and he couldn’t imagine many people stayed close with their ex’s friends post-breakup. Though he assumed most people didn’t go to their ex’s weddings either. Not that he would know any of it for sure.
And he didn’t want to dig anything up with Patton. Nothing good could come from spending prolonged periods of time with him.
Patton had clearly shown the extent of his feelings towards Logan after leaving him a drunken voicemail the night of his bachelor party, thanking Logan for being such a wonderful and understanding friend. Logan pretended he never heard the message when Patton texted him the next morning, mortified and apologetic.
But when Virgil actively sought him out for lunch, Logan ensured he was available. It couldn’t hurt to spend time with his friend. Except Virgil’s phone wouldn’t stop buzzing.
After the first few messages, Virgil sighed and picked it up. “I’m sorry, Logan. I’m emceeing the reception, and now that some people have found that out, they keep sending me song requests.”
Logan pressed his lips together. Everyone was constantly talking about the wedding. He couldn’t go a day without being reminded. And every day he grew more frustrated.
Virgil rapidly typed something out, pressed send, then turned his phone upside down on the table. “There, it’s on silent now. It won’t happen again.”
But it did. Virgil mentioned the wedding seven more times throughout the day. The rest of his friends talked about it non-stop. As the date crawled closer and closer, Logan felt it suffocating him more and more, and it became completely unavoidable. He almost believed everyone was trying to rub his face in the event.
A few days before the wedding, it finally hit Logan. He wanted this wedding. He never thought he would want an extravagant celebration, he didn’t think he wanted the stress of so many people and so many things to plan. But Logan desperately wanted everything he had watched Virgil and Roman and Patton run around trying to plan over the last month. After realizing that, everything else came in rapid succession.
Patton was moving upstate. He wouldn’t be going far, but it was still away from the family and city he loved so dearly.
Logan had a stable job that he loved, that he wanted to keep working. He didn’t want to travel around so much and lose it.
Patton didn’t think he could adopt a pet. He didn’t have the time or the space for an animal he really wanted, and especially not if he would have to commute to work more often.
Logan worked steady hours every day and had weekends off, a schedule he never imagined having, let alone enjoying.
Each acknowledgement washed over him, one after the other. All at once, the air was forced out of his lungs as he finally realized.
        They would have been fine.
The reason Logan had left, the justification he had to remind himself of for years was crumbling. There was no need. They would have worked it out and Logan wouldn’t have had to watch Patton spend his life with someone else.
They were happy. Logan was happy. He had told himself for years that leaving was for the best. They would both be able to live the lives they wanted. They would be happier.
        Patton would be happier.
That’s all Logan really cared about, he decided. He was terrified he wasn’t enough for Patton. He knew that if Patton gave up his future to be with Logan, he would always feel responsible for ruining his life. He knew Patton would resent him.
But Patton had plead with him, tears streaming down his face, arms wrapped around himself to try to physically hold back his heartbreak. “Logan, you make me happy! Why won’t you believe I would give all that up to be with you?” And Logan found himself asking the same thing. Why couldn’t he believe Patton? Why couldn’t he believe he was enough?
Patton was happy now. That was what was important. He had fallen in love again. He found someone who wanted the same things as him. Patton was going to get married and have his happily ever after and get everything he deserved.
This is your fault, Logan told himself, gritting his teeth. This is what you deserve. You fucked up, these are the consequences. This is what you wanted, isn’t it?
And yet, as much as he tried, Logan couldn’t stop thinking about Patton. Everything reminded him of when they were together. Every time he saw Patton, he ached to be the one on the other side of his hand. He kept dreaming of finally, once again, being Patton’s, only to wake up every morning with a gaping hole in his chest and the feel of his fingers running through Patton’s hair. He thought he would go insane.
        Logan wanted to tell him.
He knew he would regret it. He knew it would almost certainly make the situation way more painful and complicated than it needed to be. He knew he would accomplish nothing but widen the rift between himself and Patton.
But Logan also knew that if reconciliation was anywhere near a possibility, it would be his only chance to achieve that.
Logan deliberated over it for days until he couldn’t take it anymore. Two nights before the wedding, he took a deep breath and made his decision. It’s now or never.
Logan took a walk downtown. He knew exactly where Patton would be. He took the longest route he could think of.
Patton sat at a bench on the patio section of a restaurant that had closed for the night. Approaching from the side, Logan watched him watch the sleepy life of this secluded section of the city. A few stores were open, a few people wandered past here and there, but Patton had complete privacy from where he sat, content and full of love for everything and everyone around him. Logan took a deep breath and walked into his field of vision.
Patton turned to him and smiled. “Hey, what are you doing out here?”
“Just talking a walk. I wanted the fresh air.” Logan walked over and stood next to the bench. “Anything interesting happen yet?”
Patton nodded, grinning. “Two doves flew up into that tree, and the owner of the restaurant across the street looked really happy when he closed. The night’s not over yet, though.”
Logan nodded back, a lump in his throat. He swallowed, and looked back down at Patton, who met his gaze, eyes full of wonder. Logan took another deep breath. Before he could change his mind, Logan jumped.
        “Can we talk?”

Conclusion: By prioritizing infection resistance, strengthening pathogen defense mechanisms, and adopting healthier living habits, you can significantly boost your immune system's ability to protect your overall health. hi new. i know you have experience dealing with chronic illness and pain and felt like you might be able to offer me some useful advice about an issue i've been dealing with lately. since thanksgiving '19, i've had sharp pains deep behind my left eye, every single day, several times a day, sometimes leaving my vision blurry, and in once instance making me lose control of my legs. i've gotten a brain MRI that was completely normal according to my ophthalmologist and my otolaryngologist (1/4)
pain medicine (except for hydrocodone, which isn’t good to take long term) has 0 effect on my pain. i’ve started taking daily multivitamins along with magnesium supplements and just started taking taurine supplements in a desperate attempt to do something about my pain. i even tried reducing my dosage of my antidepressants, but that just completely ruined my mood and did nothing to help my pain. i’m still waiting on the results of a few more rule-out tests, and i have an appointment with a neurologist lined up at the end of this month (which i’ve been waiting on since last month– they almost made me wait until may to see a neurologist). but i’m worried that nothing useful is going to come of all these tests and specialist visits and that i’m just going to be stuck with this chronic pain behind my eye for a very long time. so i’m wondering if you, being someone who’s been down the chronic pain/illness road yourself had any advice to offer about managing this pain? any supplements or lifestyle changes or anything that might help me alleviate the pain and deal with the frustration of specialist visit after specialist visit yielding no conclusion on why i’ve been in pain every single day for close to 3 months now? i’m sorry that this is such a long train of asks but you’re the only person i can think of who’s deal with this sort of thing who might be able to suggest something that’d help
(aw shit I might’ve accidentally lost a part of your ask but I’ll try to answer still. if there are any parts of this that you’d like me to explain in more detail, I would be happy to, just let me know)
Sorry to hear you’re dealing with this, these are actually some of the same symptoms I’ve been having too. I’ve been trying to get an MRI since November, so I know how frustrating it is to go through all of these doctor appointments and tests.
My first question might be obvious but was the MRI done with contrast? I know that can make some things visible that would otherwise be missed.
As for supplements, I can tell you what I take, but everyone has a different experience with them and it’s always wise to do research to see if they have any reactions with anything you’re already taking. None of these are cures but for those of us that struggle with health, it’s important to be proactive. At the moment I take: fermented skate fish liver oil (brain/gut/joint/oral health), 50 billion probiotics a day (gut/brain, +additional stuff like kimchi, miso, black garlic, umeboshi is also important to support these little guys), turmeric ginger tea (inflammation control and to keep my core warm/control nausea), ashwagandha (a million uses, can’t live without this stuff, really helps me with recover), California poppy in my tea (great for nerve pain), and iron for my anemia.
Other things that are important parts of my daily routine are: a bit of yoga in the morning (sometimes at night too) with lots of deep breathing and trigger point rolling if needed (nothing fancy, mostly slow stretching to help make space and reduce my nerve pain), hot towel treatment on my neck to loosen it up (usually followed by spraying magnesium oil and rubbing it in), a hot bath with epsom salt to relax my muscles, a nice slow rubdown with Tiger Balm and a pain relief massage oil on my bad areas but generally all over if I need it, also LOTS of rest (and icepacks all over my head and neck if needed). Obviously I can only really do this whole routine on my days off, but it makes a big big big difference. Even if I don’t get much relief out of it and am still in pain, it’s important to keep taking care of my body and giving it what it needs so that more damage doesn’t happen in my inactivity, which is what happened in my mid-20′s and only made things worse.
As for coping with all of the appointments... It’s incredibly difficult and exhausting to stay committed to advocating for our own wellbeing when we feel like our health is in the hands of doctors who just kind of shrug things off. I’ve had about 15 doctor appointments in the past few months and it’s taking so much hard work to keep my mental state stable, and sometimes I just have to hunker down in bed and cry it out. Again, I can only share what works for me, so you may have to do some trials to find what works for you. It’s important for me to have a daily practice that allows me to be aware of my thoughts and feelings, acknowledge them, feel them rather than try bypassing them, and then challenge any badbrain with things like affirmations, journaling, even just putting on music that inspires me and dancing around my room if I have the spoons.
Most of the time I want to rip my hair out and call every doctor and scream at them to get me in the fucking MRI machine already, but I have to reel it in. It’s not easy at all. I don’t have the capacity for a lot of this stuff and I’ve been wearing myself out driving to all of these appointments.
There’s nothing wrong with feeling any way about any of this, but it is still important to take good care of yourself during this vulnerable time. The patience that is expected from us more than I can really give, so I feel drained, and I’m sure you do too.
So take it one day at a time, one moment at a time, one breath at a time. Sometimes that’s all you can do, and that’s okay too. Keep me updated, okay?

Trans Lance Part 16
Lance’s excitement is beginning to turn to nerves as he sits on a hovering hospital bed dressed in a fancy alien hospital gown that is fully equipped to monitor his vitals. He reaches out a slightly clammy hand to hold Keith’s while one of the alien nurses explains the aftercare process to Lance, Keith, and Coran to make sure that Lance’s chest will heal without any complications.
Keith smiles soothingly at Lance in one of the rare instances where he actually shows emotions in front of people he has just met. Lance takes a deep breath then returns the smile.
He isn’t sure why he is so nervous. This is something he’s looked forward to for most of his life. This should be the biggest relief he’s ever felt but instead his mind is full of anxiety and his stomach swirls with uneasiness. This will be a huge change in his life and changes are scary even when it’s a good change. Lance’s tirade of anxious thoughts is interrupted when Lurox asks him a question.
“Sorry, could you please repeat that.” Lance says with a sheepish smile. He puts his nerves aside when he hears Keith snicker quietly beside him. Lurox smiles down at the blue paladin with the grace of a man who puts up with nervous patients daily. Coran cuts Lurox off before he can repeat the question for Lance.
“My boy, he is asking if you are ready for your surgery.” Coran says while beaming at his favorite of the paladins. Lance feels his heart slip a beat and for a moment he fears that this isn’t real and he’ll wake up in a moment and be back on the castle ship in his bed, only to find this had all been a dream. He takes a deep breath and pushes the doubtful thoughts away then nods his head. “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.” He says and beams brightly up at Coran.
“Excellent! Lurox, the boy is ready!” Coran chirps in an over exuberant voice which turns some of Lance’s nervous energy back into excitement. Lurox nods and leaves the room with a quick goodbye before going to wash up and change into a sterile gown and pair of gloves so he can perform Lance’s surgery.
The same nurse who had explained the aftercare process steps up to administer the anesthesia to Lance. She expertly inserts an iv into Lance’s arm in much the same way a nurse would on earth. Lance finds he can’t feel the tube or needle at all which is an improvement from the discomfort that earth medical equipment is usually accompanied by.
Lance finds himself seeking out Keith’s face as a sort of comfort as his mind begins to grow foggy and his senses dull. He clumsily reaches out a hand toward the red paladin who quickly takes Lance’s hand into his own slightly clammy one. Keith rubs his thumb soothingly over Lance’s knuckles and then bends down to kiss his boyfriend on the forehead. He straightens up from the kiss but stays within earshot of Lance. He looks down at his boyfriend’s tired blue eyes and he can tell that Lance is trying to fight off the sleep that the anesthesia is trying to lull him into.
“Let yourself fall asleep babe, everything will be fine when you wake up. I’ll be here waiting for you and you’ll finally have the chest that you have always wanted.” Keith assures Lance. He didn’t dare admit to Lance that he is also nervous about the procedure but he knows that Lance is in safe hands. The alien doctor in front of him is the best trained in all of the surrounding universes and is probable better trained than any doctor on earth. This knowledge doesn’t prevent the nagging voice in the back of Keith’s head that something bad could happen to Lance.
A comforting hand on Keith’s shoulder prevents him from following his nervous train of thought and he glances over at the Altean next to him. “Keith’s right my boy, we’ll both be here when you wake up and when you wake up everything will be right as the water that falls from the sky on your planet.” Coran assures Lance.
Lance nods sleepily and lets himself fall asleep to the comforting words that his boyfriend and space uncle are whispering to him in soft voices.
-
The next time Lance is awake, he is only briefly aware of a numb feeling his chest which feels lighter than it ever has. A different kind of pressure surrounds his chest but this pressure feels comforting and protective. He slips back into dreamland as he feels the bed he is on being pushed forward.
-
Lance’s next memory of being conscious is the sinking feeling in his stomach which accompanies falling out of a healing pod. He lets out a disgruntled whine but he recognizes the feeling of the arms that caught him around his waist. He slowly opens his eyes and finds himself looking up at Keith’s concerned but smiling face.
“I need you to move around a bit for me, Lance. You have to stretch out your muscles so that you can heal properly. We want you to have a full range of motion when you are fully healed.” Keith explains and helps Lance steady himself and then guides him through the stretches that Lurox recommends his recovering patients.
Lance follows Keith’s instructions and stretches out his stiff body and is surprised to find that he is only the littlest bit sore. His chest is still mostly numb but he did enough research back on Earth to know that numbness is common after surgery and most if not all of his feeling will come back as he continues to heal.
After finishing a session of thorough stretching, Keith and a nurse guide Lance back into a healing pod. The healing pods on this planet are far more advanced than the pods on the castle ship and Lance is pleasantly surprised to find that these pods are not bone chillingly freezing like the ones he has become accustomed to. Lance drifts back off into unconsciousness as the healing pod works its magic and heals the body he’d always dreamed of having.
-
Being woken up to stretch and perform light exercises becomes an almost daily routine and it is only two movements later that Lance finds himself released from Lurox’s care. He is asked to come back of any problems should arise but video chat check ups will suffice as he continues to heal. Lance thanks Lurox and the team of nurse profusely and heads back to the Castle Ship with Keith and Coran.
“Now my boy, the healing pods sped your healing along considerably but you still need to take it easy. No intense exercising but you can still participate in easier drills with the rest of the team. Every couple days we can pop you into a healing pod aboard the castle for a few Vargas to continue speeding up your healing process.” Coran rambles as he happily twirls his mustache around his finger.
Lance smiles up at his space uncle and nods, “I know, Coran. We just went through all of this with the nurses and Lurox. Right now I just want to get back to my own bed aboard the castle and maybe cuddle with my amazing boyfriend.” He turns to look at Keith who is blushing slightly because of Lance’s words.
Lance laughs happily and tugs Keith close to his side, still being mindful of his sore chest and the hospital issued binder that he needs to continue to wear for the next one to two movements. His smile only grows when Keith loops an arm around his waist.
“Sorry to burst your bubble but I think we’ll have to postpone or cuddle session.” Keith says and looks up at his boyfriend. Lance pouts down at his Korean boyfriend who simply laughs. “Well we can skip the feast Hunk has made to celebrate your surgery and you being released from the hospital but I think it’d really hurt his feelings. Plus, space garlic knots are always better fresh.” Keith says with a shrug.
“Garlic knots?” Lance gasps and quickens his pace toward the Castle Ship. “Sorry Keith, cuddles can wait until after I stuff myself full of garlic knots and then brush my teeth because garlic breath is grody!” Lance rambles and tugs Keith behind him and Coran follows the couple, laughing the whole way.
Happy Pride Month everybody! I know it’s been forever since I updated and I’m sorry senior year of high school turned out to be busier then I expected. I am now out of school and will have a lot more time to write so expect faster updates! Also, I know I promised a homeless Lance update first but it’s pride month so I decided to upload this one first! Trans Lance Masterlist

Ways to take Care of your Eyes
Your eyes are the most attractive features of your face. They are more than just a visual organ that helps you see the world. They smile, laugh, cry, when words fail, our eyes express our feelings and thoughts beautifully. You eyes are the most important part of your body, if your eyes are separated from you even for a moment, and then there will be darkness in your life. Therefore, protecting your vision is one of the most important things in maintaining the quality of your life. However, unfortunately, most people do not think about their eyes as much as they pay attention to their faces. Our eyes start getting weaker due to the constant presence of mobiles, TVs and laptops. In addition, our stubborn lifestyle, toxic environment and improper diet make things worse because of all these things, increases the risk of vision loss. In addition, wrinkles, dark circles, facial swelling etc. have become common problems nowadays. Taking care of your eyes, like your skin and face, will ensure that you stay protected against age-related diseases such as cataract, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration etc.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.2 billion people worldwide suffer from eye disorders. Of these, there are one billion cases, which could have been prevented, but they are left untreated. The WHO report has given a warning that, as people age, the number of people suffering from blindness will increase.
However, if proper eye care is taken from time to time, then the problems arising from it can be stopped to a large extent. In addition, to protect the eyes from diseases, it is important to clean the eyes and perform eyes exercise. Vitamin-A rich food should also be taken for eye care, which improvise the eyesight and protects the person from eye problems.
To protect your eyesight and keep your eyes healthy, follow these tips given below:
1.     DO REGULAR EYE CLEANING:
Due to carelessness of the eyes, problems such as watery eyes, burning, itching, redness of eyes, yellowing, swollen eye, blurred appearance can occur. Regular eye cleaning should be done to protect the eyes from these problems. For this, wash eyes thoroughly with cold clean water 3-4 times a day.
2.     REMOVE YOUR EYE MAKEUP AT THE END OF THE DAY:
Always take time to remove eye makeup before bedtime. Never sleep with makeup. If you sleep with eyeliner or foundation, it can cause pain in your eyes. Sleeping with make-up at night stops the pores around the eyes, which can cause cavities and may need to be removed by a doctor. Keep makeup remover pads near your bed when you are too tired for your nighttime cleansing routine.
3.     PROTECTION FROM UV LIGHT:
Exposure to UV rays of sun can cause damage to the eyes. Damage cause by UV radiation to the eyes is cumulative, this means it builds up over our lifetime and can have a permanent effect on our eyes and eyesight. The UV rays may cause macular degeneration, a leading cause of vision loss among aged persons. It may also may also cause some kinds of cataracts. Sunglasses prevent retinal damage. They also protect the delicate skin of the eyelid to prevent wrinkles and skin cancer. They can help reduce the risk of eye-related problems such as cataracts, pinguecula and rashes. Wear good quality sunglasses that block UV rays up to 99–100%.
4.     USE OF GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS
Shades or goggles should be used on the eyes while going out to protect the eyes from dust and dirt and sunlight. Also, use only good quality products for eye make-up. Makeup should be done on the eyes according to the need, ie, to avoid applying cheap products like eyeliner contaminated with antimony.
5.     QUIT SMOKING:
Tobacco smoking is directly associated with several adverse health effects including eye problems. Tobacco smoking is linked with heart disease and lung cancer for a long time, but most of you may be unaware that smoking can lead to loss of vision.  Studies show that smoking tobacco increases the risk of age-related macular degeneration in eyes, Dry Eye Syndrome, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Smokers are also at high risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration. This can cause optic nerve damage, which can also lead to blindness.
6.     GIVE YOUR EYES PROPER REST:
Your eyes also need rest like you. Avoid or minimize strenuous activities such as staring at a computer or phone screen for too long. This can cause tension in your eyes and can cause problems like blurred vision, dry eyes, headaches etc. In addition, you can use home remedies, such as placing cucumber slices on the eyes, to enhance the relaxation process.
7.     ENOUGH SLEEP:
Take enough sleep everyday because lack of sleep is not only detrimental to your health, it can eventually lead to more serious eye problems such as glaucoma. In due course, glaucoma can lead to loss of vision. Shortage of sleep can cause dry eye, a condition when there is no adequate tears to lubricate your eyes. Dry eye can may lead to eye pain, light sensitivity, itching, redness, or even blurred vision. An eight hours sleep each night gives your eyes the opportunity to rest, relax, heal, and replenish so that they can stay healthy.
8.     EYE EXERCISES:
Look at the eyes once towards the ceiling. Look at the floor once. Once on the right side and once on the left. Rotate the eyes in rounding eyes first in one direction and then in the other direction. This will exercise your eyes. Also, to strengthen the skin around the eyes, one should lightly massage under the eyes with almond oil. It also removes dark circles under the eyes. Also, anti wrinkle cream should be applied under the eyes. The ingredients in anti wrinkle cream are vitamin C and green tea, which is beneficial in preventing dark eye circles.   9.     PROPER DISTANCE FROM COMPUTER:
For the health of the eyes, it is important to work in the right light, whether you are working on a computer or studying. One can complain of eye pain due to constantly looking at something very closely or sitting in front of the computer for too long. Therefore, do not force your eyes continuously. Take frequent breaks.
10.     SUITABLE DIET:
A good eye care starts with the right diet. A diet rich in vitamin A, vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants is very beneficial for your eyes and can help avoid age-related eye problems. Include foods such as carrots, beets, oranges and green leafy vegetables in your regular diet. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and tuna are very effective in reducing dangerous macular degeneration. Antioxidants may reduce the risk of cataract.
Lists of different foods are given below that you should never miss to protect yourself from eye diseases:
a)    Green Leafy Vegetables And Fruits: Vitamin A is the most important vitamin for the eyes, lack of it can cause night blindness. Fat-soluble vitamin A is most needed by the retina. Vitamin A is found most commonly in green and leafy vegetables. The carotene element present in green vegetables is converted into vitamin A. Therefore, eat spinach, mint, fenugreek, beans, etc. The intake of vitamin C helps to repair eye damage. Guava, oranges, pineapples, watermelons and grapes contain sufficient amounts of vitamins A and C.
b)    Dry Fruit: It is also beneficial to take dry fruits to improve the eyesight. Dry fruits like raisins are rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene, and carotenoids, which are very important for eye health. The anti-oxidant present in it helps the eyes to fight free radicals. Eating raisins daily does not cause weakness of eyes, muscle damage, cataract etc. Dry apricots have an abundance of vitamins A, B complex and C that are beneficial for the eyes.
c)     Zinc Food: Zinc is very good for your eye health. Zinc helps the retina like that of vitamin A. Without zinc, the eyes do not utilize enough vitamins as needed, so your eyesight starts to weaken as a result. Zinc is found in plenty in peanuts, yogurt, dark chocolate, sesame and cocoa powder etc. The ability to see remained the same throughout the age. For this, onion and garlic should be included in your meal.
d)   Selenium: If a person has a cataract problem, then he should take plenty of selenium. Selenium is an anti-oxidant and helps in absorption of vitamin E, which reduces the age-related eye health issue. Fish, grains, eggs, chicken, tuna, liver and garlic are good sources of selenium.
e)    Egg and Fish: Egg is very beneficial for the eyes. Elements called lutein and xanthine, which make carotenoids, are found in abundance in eggs more than any other substance. Eating one egg daily can prevent erosion in the eye cells due to the lack of carotenoids. Eggs are very beneficial for eyes. Eating one egg daily can prevent erosion in eye cells due to the lack of carotenoids. Omega 3 is found in plenty in fish, which is beneficial for eyesight.
f)      Almond Milk: Drink almond milk 3 times a week. It contains Vitamin E, which is beneficial in relieving eye disorders. Antioxidants like Vitamin E protect the eye lens from damage from free radicals. Vitamin E is found in all types of edible oils, and seeds.  Get into the habit of consuming them and include them in your daily diet.
11.     GET REGULAR EYE CHECKUPS:
Get your eyes checked regularly to maintain good eye health. Learn more about your eyes and when you go to your doctor, get information about the eyes from them. Knowing more about the eyes and learning how to prevent eye diseases will help you to control diseases. In addition to making sure that your applying right medication, updated your glasses or contact lenses, regular eye checkups are also necessary to maintain eye health. Most of the serious eye conditions such as cataract and Age-related Muscular Degeneration (AMD) can be treated easily and successfully, if diagnosed and treated quickly. If left untreated, these diseases can cause severe vision loss and blindness. In addition, a comprehensive eye examination, including dilating the pupil of the eye, can help detect eye diseases that often provide no warning, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. There is no problem in the eyes, or not, but periodic eye checkups should be done. Diabetic patients, in particular, should undergo eye checkups from time to time, as diabetes has negative effects on the eyes and blindness can occur if diabetes is prolonged.
If you do not have any problem related to eyesight, then you have to visit the eye doctor:
·        Every 5-10 years between the ages of 20 and 30
·        Every 2–4 years between 40–65 years of age
·        After the age of 65, see the eye doctor every 1-2 years.
You can take care of your eyes by following some tips given below:
OTHER MEASURES
·        If you feel fatigue in the eyes, soaking cotton wool in rose water and keeping, it on the eyes gives relief to the eyes.
·        Rubbing both palms and places the warm palms on the eyes for some time.
·        While working at the computer, position your chair according to the height of the computer. Which does not put too much emphasis on the eyes and never watch TV in the dark, it causes a lot of stress on the eyes.
·        Remove eye make-up carefully before sleeping at night.

Leon&Kamui + Words of Love
So here we are again. Sorry it took a bit longer than planned. Despite my internship ending almost two weeks ago, I’ve had a rather busy time of it still. First there is getting back into studying Latin, which is quite a challenge. Then I had to prep for my first ever museum tour (as tour guide). Thirdly, and most importantly imo, I am still looking for another part time job. I hope this changes soon, since the search adds incredible amounts of anxiety to my daily existence.
Also this “chapter” was very hard to translate. The recipe part I mean. I have never translated Japanese recipes before, so all the terms were entirely new for me. But anyway let’s get this show on the road:
Before we continue, here is the same note as usual: As I am still without a real income, I would very much appreciate it if you could throw me a couple bucks via my ko-fi account. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just what you think my translations are worth really. My financial situation is currently stressing me out a great deal and it has affected work on this project for which I am sorry, but I sadly can’t do much more than I already am..

I am using the Japanese names

Team Leon presents 1) Leon's daily routine
The two people who spent the most time at Leon's side present his daily routine. We get a peek at his daily life accompanied by the opinions and biases his retainers' point of view brings with it.
Tumblr media
A close-up of the elegant lifestyle (?) worthy of the younger prince of Nohr!!
Tumblr media
Mornings
Waking up
Odin: “Past dawn, while being showered in the light of the high-standing sun, Lord Leon makes his sparkling appearance. He looks as if he has descended from the heavens! Except... his collar is inside-out.”
But there is no sun in Nohr, Odin. What are we even supposed to believe?!
Breakfast
Zero: “The sight of him putting a small tomato between his full lips is so suggestive. So tantalizing...”
Tumblr media
Noon
Reading in his room
Odin: “It must be said that my amazing Lord is a wise sage of darkness, or rather „A Dark Wiseman“!“
Lunch
Zero: “His glossy lips after drinking soup are so captivitating. So tantalizing...“
Sending his retainers on patrol
Odin: “Me and Zero leave for patrol at this time. It is a great honour. However, I yearn for missions that make my blood boil and my heart jump...“
Tumblr media
Evening
Dinner
Zero: “The sight of the meat juice dripping from his pink lips is so sensual. So tantalizing...”
Magic Training
Odin: “In order to release the full extent of his power, he trains shrouded in the deepest darkness of night. As is expected of the intelligent and self-possessed person I call my prince!“
Going to Bed
Zero: “He spends his time passionately reading in bed until very late. Tomorrow as well, I will devote my life to him.”

Team Leon cooking showdown
Which of the dishes his retainers came up with will Leon prefer..? Using his favourite ingredients, the two gave it some serious thought.
Recipe + Cooking Process: Yuri Sato
Disclaimer: I am not 100% sure about the accuracy of all the terms I translated here. So if you plan on cooking any of these dishes, please be careful! And if you burn your house down or get food poising, please don’t sue me. You won’t get any money out of me anyways... (I take no responsibily...)
Zero's Cooking (Assistant: Felicia)
Sauteed salmon with spicy tomato sauce
Zero: To make something worthy of a retainer to Lord Leon, I simply have to use at least one or two of his favourite ingredients. I shall tighlty seize his belly..
Ingredients:
2 slices of Salmon filet 180g of canned tomatoes (pre-cut) One half each of a red and a yellow paprika 2 garlic cloves Pure Olive Oil 30cc 1 teaspoon of chili flakes A proper amount of salt and pepper A proper amount of dill
1. Cut the paprika mouth-wide (?)
2. Spread oil in a frying pan. Keep it on a medium flame until it’s time to add the garlic
3. Then add the chili flakes and paprika before lightly frying them, adjust the taste to your liking with salt and pepper.
4. Add the canned tomatoes and let everything simmer for a while.
5. Season the salmon with salt and pepper
6. Spread oil in another frying pan and fry the salmon on both sides.
7. Set the salmon on a plate, add the sauce and place a dill leave as decoration in order to complete the dish
*Take care not to add too many chili flakes. Also, having the salmon heated for too long will make it grow bitter, so caution is advised.
Tumblr media
Ugh.. I have no idea why the image shows up so small
Odin's Cooking (Assistant: Joker)
Tomato Stew
Odin: “Please feast on my masterwork as soon as you can! The sacred blood which burns crimson hot like lava, „Tomato Stew“!”
Ingredients:
1 garlic clove 1 table spoon of pure olive oil ¼ of an onion About 1 potato 1 piece of chicken leg 300 ml water 250g of canned tomatoes 1 ½  table spoons of consommé granule A proper amount of salt and pepper Powdered cheese Parsley
1. Cut the onion into pieces about 5mm wide, then spread about one table spoon each across the potato and chicken leg (?)
2. Heat the olive oil in a pot, then add the thinly sliced garlic and let it simmer on medium heat until it releases it's aroma.
3. Add the chicken and potato. Once the chicken has been added, season it and the potatoes to your liking before frying them.
4. Once finished, add the water and consommé granule, then make it boil.
5. Add the tomatoes before letting everything cook on low heat for about 10-15 min. (the potatoes should be done once you can puncture them easily)
6. Adjust the flavour through seasoning
7. Serve in a bowl and add the cheese and parsley as a finishing touch.
*If you like, you can also add about 100ml of fresh cream when seasoning to give it a creamier texture.
Tumblr media
Leon: “Since both recipes include tomatos, the dishes couldn't be anything but delicious. It is... difficult to determine the winner. I wonder if I can just call it a draw?”
----
Leon should check his priorities..
I have no idea when the next update will be. I’ll try putting in some work whenever I have a little time to spend. It should be a bit faster, since I don’t have to deal with all that unfamiliar cooking terminology, but I can’t make any promises.
Until next time.~
