Chart Ruler in the Houses:

Your chart ruler is the planet associated with your rising sign. e.g. Libra rising means your chart ruler is Venus, Sagittarius Rising means your chart ruler is Jupiter. The chart ruler can be similar to the rising in that it represents an aspect of your self-expression. It can also act like a guide or marker to areas of life that greatly impact you and motivate you. See below the chart ruler in each house:

~1st House~

Individuality is not only important to you and your life, but questions surrounding individuality, developing it - these are a big part of your life lessons, struggles, wins, and fulfillments. How you develop as a person, your self-expression, independence, and how you stand out acts as motivation. Early life may have been unique, intense, or hazy depending on the planet, but frequently revisiting it or taking inspiration from it is common for this placement. Having your chart ruler in the 1st House may indicate someone who has high expectations for themselves and their life or even "destiny". It is common for these individuals to be on either side of the scale with pessimism vs. optimism in their approach and view of their own life. A fear of being rejected, ignored, and possibly used or controlled may exist here. When the chart ruler is in the 1st House these people will always ask themselves who they are and/or may have a huge drive to always prove themselves or define themselves. ~2nd House~

The 2nd House is a house of the physical world but also our relationship to the physical world which many times can be highly intangible. The most straightforward way to understand this is through ideas around value and resource. The 2nd House is what we value from our favorite piece of clothing to our loved ones to our own self-worth. This is also the house of security, quality, spending, resources, energy that is taken or received, it is physical manifestations or materialism which can extend to ideas of the spirit having a body (6th House may be body and health, but the 2nd also has connections to the body and physiology, especially the throat, neck, voice). When the chart ruler is in this house challenges, lessons, and guidance may seem very practical with lessons about work, money, and possessions. Other times it can be hard to recognize or follow with lessons about restraint, boundaries, or defense. The chart ruler pulls on individuals to practice self-care and stability. People here may feel like their stability, safety, and maybe sanity are frequently questioned or being threatened. They learn early on how important options, skills, tools, money, space, being resourceful is. These people for many reasons may also constantly seek comfort and contentment. They want the peace that comes with more passive attitudes towards living like attraction, patience, routine, and indulgence or relaxation. The 2nd House is also about potential and when the chart ruler sits here motivation can come from self-belief. Endurance and determination are their crown.

~3rd House~

Self-expression, learning, communicating, connecting - all of these things are brought front and center with the chart ruler in the 3rd house. Motivation can be from a curious mind or possibly a bored mind, being highly involved or removed from a community, or social status or pressures. Learning from others is very important for this placement, even those who are shyer may crave this. Many of their internal conflicts or conflicts throughout life may involve some sort of lone wolf. vs social butterfly themes. Their main motivation may come from, their self-expression and personality shaped by, or possibly one of their guiding lights in life may be their siblings, extended family, students, or possibly a teacher in some form. These individuals are likely observant, mentally quick, possibly talkative or social, and likely adaptable. Even if someone with this placement has a lot of fixed sign influences, life will pull them through many situations that will demand flexibility or an open mind. There is a focus on how these people are in their attitude towards others in their most immediate environment and inner circle outside of highly intimate or hierarchical roles like a spouse or parent. Think friends, coworkers, siblings, their network, their community. The planet will have a lot to say about this, Venus for example indicates a very easygoing, nice, possibly loving attitude. Mars may mean competitive, aggressive, or passionate interactions and relationships. The Sun or Pluto can indicate power struggles. Saturn indicates a lot of responsibility, reputation, maybe burdens form being part of a community. This attitude or approach to their community will be extremely important to them. ~4th House~

This individual's motivation and personality may be heavily based around family somehow. They are prone to holding onto old feelings and grudges and this may be a major drive for them. The 4th House can represent our homelife, our private life, private selves, ancestry, cycles or patterns, intuition, and nurturing. Having a happy, safe, or stable home is a need for everyone but here their home life may impact their most basic self-expression constantly. A hurt or disturbed home life may be worn on their sleeve somehow. The 4th House can represent our parents both in a literal or metaphorical sense. I wouldn't be surprised if those with their chart ruler in this house find that they seek a parent type of relationship with others frequently OR has to parent themselves or others somehow. There may be a great drive to carry on a family's legacy or to start a new found family with this placement. Questions and insecurities may frequently revolve around one's place in their family, starting a family, or leaving one. This person may be good at hiding intentions, may be highly private or guarded, receptive, perceptive, and sensitive. Where they feel most at home can be determined by planet and sign but the chart ruler in the 4th indicates that there is a huge need to always "return" home or feel at home in the self, with others, and in a place. Getting in touch with one's past or heritage may be important to them throughout life. An understanding of the pasts' impact on the present and future is a major theme and lesson. Understanding and caring are strengths of theirs to cultivate. But...Loyalty, love, and trust of family is their crown.

~5th House~

A general love for life may be a major motivation for this placement. The 5th House is the house of recreation, love affairs, romance, drama, creativity, creation, pleasure, celebration, hobbies, self-expression, vibrancy. Expressing the self through what one creates whether that is art, a reputation, food, crafts, ideas, debatably children are all important to this house. The chart ruler in the 5th House may have a huge desire to leave a legacy or impression through what they make and share. There might also be a drive to indulge, experience, and love. This house has a positive reputation but the chart ruler here depending on sign, planet, aspect may indicate a struggle to enjoy life or express one's creativity. There may be a need to shine, fight, rebel, create a new path. A desire for adventure, admiration, romance, and leisure can exist in a way that is desperate or hard to satisfy. The 5th House has been interpreted as a place of self-discovery, carefreeness, play, or self-creation and in this sense, there is a huge push to be confident in oneself and to let your energy or vitality burn. The 5th House has also been interpreted as a place to look at how you learn and celebrate others and through them also learn about and celebrate the self. This can take a lot of giving and risk. ~6th House~

This is the house of the everyday - habits, work, physical health, cleanliness, collaboration or teamwork, routine, service, help, support, practicality, skills, work ethic, pets, efficiency, uses. On paper this house can sound dull but similarly to the 2nd House the relationship of the tangible to the intangible can make interpretations or manifestations of this house sometimes hard to recognize. Work and health are two very common motivators for this placement. Other common motivators may be a desire to be useful, to heal others, to fix something, or possibly to be part of a team or cause. Depending on the influences involved a chart ruler in this house may spell out a person who craves recognition or reward for their status, good deeds, or accomplishments. There is nothing inherently wrong with this but it may cause a lack of fulfillment for the individuals. The chart ruler in the 6th House may work themselves to death or be distracted from people or things that truly feed their soul and help their mental health because they can get distracted with "the right way" to do things, with daily tasks they need to check off, or a sense of heavy duty. In this way modesty may be needed not to humble but to cut through the b.s. of more shallow pursuits and relationships. Some with this placement may need to be brought down to earth sometimes, just not in the way they or most may expect. Some may fear leaving their routine and habits, easily getting stuck in ruts. This will take courage to break routines or unhealthy habits, but it will also take self-discipline and even gratitude. Questions about relationships and who they are to others may always be part of their life. The 7th House is about projection and how you present yourself to others and how others reinforce your self. ~9th House~

Responsibility and reputation are hot topics for those with their chart ruler here. These may be two things that haunt or bring joy to them throughout life. A fear of failure, embarrassment, or a lack of control can be a huge challenge for this placement. Seeking approval from or rebelling from an authority figure may be a huge drive for some. Their self-expression is focused and monitored, criticized and restrained so it fits within their society or family. Matters of support and providing are important for those with this placement. Both receiving it and giving it may be challenging or rewarding. Those with this placement may be passionate about campaigning for or providing for those who lack help much like they may have lacked when younger. The 11th House is also about friendship, acceptance, alienation, awareness, trends, the higher mind, intellect and intuition, wishes/aspirations. This tends to be a hopeful and extroverted house in terms of its general influence. Having your chart ruler here means you may find meaning and direction by being part of organizations or groups. There may also be a struggle to find people you belong with. Motivation tends to come from social expectations/pressures, societal norms, rebellion, isolation, idealism, or fear of missing out. Friends and peers may be very important to those who's ruler sits in this house. From an early age this individual learned the importance and need for acceptance by one's peers or may have found refuge, learning, and understanding in them. Expanding their mind and knowledge through others may be a drive for them. Having a charismatic and confident self-expression may be important for some, or finding those who celebrate or are attracted to their unique sense of self-expression. This is also the house of isolation, loss of power, loss of ego or identity, and loss in general. This person may confront many uncomfortable questions, truths, or experiences surrounding loss. This house shares similar themes with the 4th and 8th Houses - family karma and secrets, depth, psychology or psyche, spirituality, magic, intuition. In south of the Siji Empire, there is a kingdom the sun favors, staying warm and bright through the year. Clothed in luxuriant ruby red silks, the gold of the sunrays, and adorned in feathers, its people are said to house the spirit of fire within themselves. They live their lives loving, desiring, and hating with incandescent fervor. Fueled by the flames of their namesake and the blessing of the sun, the air is ripe to burst into a unstoppable wildfire. Welcome to the Vermillion Court.

The Vermillion Court is a current WIP and new interactive CYOA novel. The focus is heavily on romance, drama, and the characters. It is inspired by fantasy period-piece C-Dramas (Chinese Dramas) and historical romance manhua/manhwa. It will combine pieces from multiple fantasy period-pieces, both Western and Eastern. It's being written in Twine.

This game is my palate cleanser for my main game, Under the Eyes of Themis. Updates may be slow since that game will receive most of my attention, but I will try to update at least once a month! Please feel free to send asks or anything, since this has quickly become a bit of a passion project!

Note: Because this is still a WIP, some names of characters or places may change. All names are presented as "Last Name" "First Name" and I will provide pronunciation guides in the game as well as on the info pages on the blog!

In The Vermillion Court, you are taken to the fantasy period-piece inspired world and continent of Nian. You play as the Fourth Prince or Princess of the Xiatian Kingdom, the child of the King of the Xiatian Kingdom and one of his consorts. As Fourth Prince/Princess, you have a pretty open schedule and a nice cushy life. Being among the first five princes and princesses makes you a prominent enough figure and with six siblings ahead of you in line, no one's really paying attention to what you want to do with your life.

The year is 730 and spring has just given way to the summer season. Various festivals and events are held across the Siji Empire to celebrate the season. At 21-years-old, you're all but happy to attend the social events of the season. Before you leave for the main city, your grandmother informs you that you should look for a partner while there. Apparently your father has been convinced by his favorite wife, Consort Xing, to start marrying you and your siblings off to the other kingdoms. You suspect it has to do with trying to make her son the Crown Prince and are dreading seeing your whole family together again.

Your personal guard and maid accompany you to the capital of Xiatian, where you start a season of festivities, social events, and romance, while also maneuvering the politics of your court and the drama that comes with it.

Customize the way you look. Decide what to wear to events to make an impression on the guests

Attend various festivals, parties, and social events to boost your reputation and make allies to help defend you against courtly drama

Choose to romance 1 of 6 characters: your Personal Guard, your Maid, a Lord from the Chuntian Kingdom, a Lady from the Dongtian Kingdom, a Merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom, or a Courtesan

Each route follows the same set of 6 events, but each varies greatly from the others

The Fourth Prince/Princess of the Xiatian Kingdom - You (he/him) or (she/her)

You play as the 21-year-old Fourth Prince/Princess of the Xiatian Kingdom. Your father is King Nan Shaimian of the Xiatian Kingdom and your mother is his consort, Consort Huo Qinwen. You are 1 of their 4 children, having 1 older brother and a younger brother and sister, but that fails in comparison to your 18 half-siblings.

You are one of Dowager Queen Nan Niexing's favorite grandchildren, which she proudly states much to the chagrin of your father's 4 other wives.

Appearance: player determined.

Your Personal Guard - Si Huaiqiao (he/him)

Huaiqiao is your personal bodyguard. He is 25-years-old and has been guarding you since you were children. He is very serious and a tad grumpy, always wearing a frown. He doesn't take his job lightly, coming across overprotective, even for a personal guard. He tends to be clueless when it comes to romance, often missing the many women and men flirting with him. You appreciate his work, but maybe you've come to see him more than just your guard?

Appearance: Huaiqiao is a very tall man, standing at around 6'4. He is muscular and fit and is considered to be very attractive. He has straight black hair pulled out of his face that falls to about mid-back when loose. He has clear fair skin and deep black eyes.

Your Maid - Xu Chanyu (she/her)

Chanyu is your personal maid. She is 20-years-old and has been helping you since you were 15. She is a clumsy maid, fumbling over her words and feet quite often but she tries her best and you've come to find her incompetence rather endearing. Besides, it's not like you keep her in your company because she's a good maid, but rather because she's the only assassin who's came close to killing you. Maybe you've come to see her in a different light?

Appearance: Chanyu is a small and lithe woman. She's about 5'0 and is deceptively strong, regularly holding her own against Huaiqiao. Her hair is a dark reddish-brown and her eyes are a dark brown. Her skin is tanned with some freckles.

The Lord from the Chuntian Kingdom - You Kounao (he/him)

Kounao is a noble from the Chuntian Kingdom who's arrived at the Xiatian Kingdom as a diplomatic envoy. He is 21-years-old and is suave and charming. It's easy to see why the Chuntian Kingdom sent him as one of their envoys. Despite holding a position of importance, he tends to be a bit immature and childish, enjoying playing pranks on the other envoys who accompanied him. You find his company refreshing. Maybe you could pursue him as a potential husband?

Appearance: Kounao is man of average height and build, standing at about 5'9. He is fit, but not muscular. He is of partial foreign descent with clear brown skin and short straight black hair. His eyes are dark brown, nearly black.

The Lady from the Dongtian Kingdom - Shen Sandong (she/her)

Sandong is a noble from the Dongtian Kingdom who's arrived at the Xiatian Kingdom as a diplomatic envoy. She is 22-years-old and is very quiet. Her facial expression doesn't change much and she prefers to keep to herself. She doesn't have much to say, but enjoys letting you talk. She's a welcome change of pace to the typically hectic palace. Her icy demeanor intimidates some people, but maybe you find it charming?

Appearnace: Sandong is a woman of average height at about 5'5. She is beautiful with long straight black hair and icy blue eyes. Her skin is pale and clear. She is thicker with a fuller figure than her counterparts from other kingdoms.

The Merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom - Wei Duqiong (he/him)

Duqiong is a merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom who's come to the Xiatian Kingdom to boost his sales during the festival. He is 23-years-old and comes off as a bit shady. He's an effective business man able to charm even the hardest of buyers, but he's very private about his life, not enjoying small talk. You find him to be mysterious and intriguing, not really having met someone like him before. Maybe you'd like to take the time to get to know him better?

Appearance: Duqiong is a tall man standing at around 6'0. He is thin and lean. He appears to be from partial foreign descent. He has medium-length straight blonde hair pulled into a low ponytail and warm brown eyes. He has smooth light brown skin.

The Courtesan - Wu Nahou (she/her)

Nahou is a courtesan from one of the more popular courtesan houses in the city. Unlike her some of sisters, Nahou doesn't provide any physical services and just entertains at parties by playing music, dancing, and reciting poetry. She is 24-years-old and is pleasant and demure while working. Off the clock, she is more rowdy with strong opinions and a confident, self-assured attitude. Maybe you'd like to spend more time with her?

Appearance: Nahou is a shorter woman at about 5'3. She is of partial foreign descent with wavy red hair and hazel eyes. Her skin is pale with freckles and she's considered to be very beautiful. Her frame is more slight and willowy than simply thin.

The Yuan-ti as a broad concept is full of interesting potential. However, Wizards of the Coast’s approach to the concept is heavily steeped in racism against Indigenous peoples of what is today considered Latin America—especially in particular, the Maya. The goal of this rewrite is to retain the Mayan coding while being more respectful of the real life people inspiration is drawn from.

An important note: While I am an Indigenous person myself, I am not specifically Mayan; I’m Mi’kmaw. As such, if there is any Mayan person reading this who has critique of my work, please feel free to express it, as I would greatly appreciate this.

My source of canon lore is the 5E books, Volo’s Guide to Monsters and Monsters of the Multiverse. I also took a little bit from the fanmade Forgotten Realms wiki, which as far as I’m able to judge, mostly consists of 3E lore.

FIREWORKS (matt sturniolo)

summary: fireworks aren’t your best friend but Matt’s knowledge of this helps you greatly when they unexpectedly happen.

genre: fluff, a bit of angst

cw!: fireworks if that wasn’t evident, kissing, crowds, use of “y/n” female pronouns.

a/n: kind of long but I hope you like it! (a bit inspired by my conversation with @eyelessdemon last night)

“love, the party is at 8, it’s currently 7:30, are you ready yet?” Matt’s eyes searched my face for any sort of answer as I rapidly put makeup products on my face. I was already rushing so it wasn’t necessarily the best time to remind me of the few minutes I had to get ready.

“Matt, I love you, so for your sake I won’t answer till im ready and don’t have increasing anxiety!” I cautioned, advising him so I wouldn’t end up shouting at him or saying some pressured snarky response, in order for both of our sanity’s to remain intact.

The party, as Matt reminded me, was at 8, and we were already quite late. Turns out we overslept and there was some kind of surprise so it was important to be punctual.

Some minutes, which felt like seconds, passed. Me and Matt were finally able to get in the car, fasten our seatbelts, and head to the party.

I checked myself in the car mirror, reapplying some lipgloss and pushing my lashes up. I huffed, still frazzled by the prior event that felt like being in hell’s kitchen.

“you look beautiful, really, it’s a talent to be able to get ready in so little time” Matt laid his hand on mine, grabbing it reassuringly, trying to ease the anxiety he was aware I got, in any way he knew how to.

“thank you” I smiled at him and planted a kiss on his palm, earning a slight flush in his cheeks from him.

We approached the party with intertwined hands. I took in the view of what seemed to be, more than 100 people, quite anxiously. Everyone seemed to be influencers or content creators. I tugged on Matts arm gently and nodded towards the backyard, where it seemed to be less crowded.

“y/n! you both made it finally” Nicks familiar voice put me slightly at ease, relieved to have at least some tranquility in knowing other people.

“yeah it took sometime but we’re here!” The nerves were evident in my voice, thankfully, the music was loud enough for it to be quickly overlooked.

As the party went on, it got easier, Matt’s figure always looming over me gave me a sense of security, latching onto him when I felt uneasy.

“are you ok?” He whispered, planting a soft kiss on the top of my head, and rubbing patterns on the small of my back.

“yes, surprisingly, this is fun” I smiled up at him. Trying not to think much about the blasting music, distracting lights, and 50 conversations going on at the same time around me.

Our conversation was interrupted by a group of friends telling us we had to go outside. There was a pretty big crowd outside, but if something fun was happening, why would we want to miss out.

Matt’s arm was wrapped around my waist, guiding me through the crowd.

The commotion began to calm down, lights of blue, yellow, purple, and pink illuminated the sky, but the bangs also started.

As soon as the first firework was launched, Matt looked down at me with worrying eyes. He knew I hated them, he had recollection of me having negative reactions towards them. So he almost instantly took action.

His hand found mine and grabbed it tightly. One of my hands covering my ear. He led us through the crowd once again, to the inside of the house. I had my eyes squinted, and my brows furrowed as the fireworks continued to go off, on top of the screeches of everyone watching.

Once we got inside of a room in the house, Matt let go, only to engulf me in a hug immediately after.

“im so sorry, if I knew there were going to be fireworks, I never would’ve brought you out” He stumbled over his words, trying to justify the things he had no control over.

“it’s okay, im okay, I promise” I said, slightly shaken up, but in a much more calmer state after Matt’s reaction, too distracted by my thoughts of wanting to marry him instantly, to process how stressful the prior situation was.

He paused, removing himself from the hug, taken back by my casual reaction, unsure of my words.

“are you sure? like, for real?” He said, cautiously.

I laughed at his untrusting expression, and nodded with a smile. Cupping his jaw and leaning into him, placing a soft kiss on his lips, and grabbing his hand.

“yes, very sure. Only because of you, so, thank you” He smiled at me in adoration and returned the kiss.

We both stayed there a while, watching the fireworks from the window, minus the noise. My head on Matt’s shoulder as he ran his fingers through my hair, and held me just a little tighter every now and then when a louder firework sounded.

Quietly waiting. I yawned as the time went by, resting my eyes “for a few moments” Who cares about fireworks when you have Matt Sturniolo?

A/n: Since everyone really liked the one I did about Kid, I just had to make one about the Surgeon of Death! (P.S. My requests are open!)

Law’s protective instincts would be heightened as a girl dad. He would go to great lengths to ensure his daughter’s safety, always keeping a watchful eye over her.

~ How I create my creatures and how difficult it is (looong post!)

I decided to make another post about "how I create my creatures" and "how difficult it is", so that I can link it if anyone else asks ~

How did you come up with these creatures? And how long have they been around?

How and how long ago did you come up with these creatures? Was it difficult to reproduce them in a 3D model or in a drawing?

My old and new 3D models

. First of all, I don't think I ever had the idea to create creatures, it rather happened naturally on its own and my imagination creates them unconsciously. For me it usually feels like they are alive and live independently of me, and just visit my mind sometimes, giving me the opportunity to see them, feel them, or learn a little about their story. Often they come to me in a dream or in a vision, like an insight or intuitive feeling. I just see them in my head - these can be clear images, or rather vague ones, more following a feeling than a visual image.

. All these "how to create a world" and "how to create a character" tutorials don't make sense to me. I don't know how to follow them and they don't work for me. I either get it on my own or I don’t.

. My creatures can have different versions, lives and interpretations, which also comes from the intuitiveness of my approach. I just see them that way. Because of this, I can't join Koties, Vaerafes and Varlafs into one species. They are connected and kindred, but they are not interchangeable, no matter how much I want them to be, although I sometimes worry that their similarity may confuse people who are not familiar with my lore.

. I don't create, I rather learn and express my knowledge and impression of my characters. Creating characters and stories for me is literally just me drawing fanart of these cool movies that my imagination shows me, leaving me deeply impressed. And I never know everything about them.

. Some of my characters are my imaginary friends, and some can be very personally related to me. They are my family, my guides, or are like my angels and demons. I don't believe in other worlds like I did when I was younger, and I'm not spiritual, but my characters are living persons for me.

. They just live with me and grow with me. My characters stay with me even when I don't want to see them anymore, and come back years later even if I wanted to forget them. At the same time, they may leave and connection may disappear, and I don’t know how it works. For me, it's just a natural part of my mind.

. I create for myself. My art is not a project, not content for the masses, and it was not intended to be fully revealed and explained to the public. I also never share my stories in detail, as I'm very sensitive about them. And despite the fact that my 3D models brought me and my creatures a lot of attention, I still greatly want (and need) to keep them personal and connected with me and my journey. I don't want to feel pressured to tell and explain everything.

. Drawing them, living with with them, loving them was and remains not always easy. There were moments when I was terribly despaired, when I hated them, when I associated them with fear and frustration only. I have a lot of pain, depression, anxiety and despair behind them. I sometimes feel like all that I invested in them may not be worth it, but I gave all my love, energy and life to them, despite everything, and there were moments when only they motivated me to live. I love them and I just can't give up on them <3

. Learning to draw them and create models wasn't easy either. Sometimes I felt that I would never learn. These are years of learning and growing, hundreds of drawings, sleepless nights, searches, visions and inspirations along with despair and analyzing all my drawings over and over again. New ideas and characters, and returns to old ideas and characters. Sudden realizations that I need to change something. Inspiration, obsession, anxiety... all of it.

. Many thousands of saved pictures and photos for reference, and a long search for a balance between heavily relying on photo references and anatomical models, and fantasizing about alternative anatomy which suits them better. I made really a lot of comparisons to real animals and a ton of analysis just for myself and my personal learning and use.

. I wonder about their anatomy and how it works, but if I have to choose between what feels right and what biologically makes sense, I will choose what feels right. What is more important to me is what I saw in my fantasy, what it means to me personally and how it resonates with me. Otherwise, I don’t see the point of fantasy to exist in the first place.

. Learning and searching a lot for years. Despite the fact that I am an intuitive-feeler, I sudy, think, search and analyze a lot. I usually just don't feel safe to share what happens behind the scenes, meaning all the sketches and concepts, but I made a lot of them.

These are some sketches. First image is concepts and models of Vaerafes and Koties from 2012-2013 to this day. Second image is the evolution of Moonhorses, which is smaller but is a good example.

. There will be mistakes, as well as wrong ways and ideas that will die or change. I'm an experimenter so I had really a lot of these. There is no perfect finish here, it is endless evolution and change. I know I will change Vaerafes in the future, and vice versa - I also know that some of my earlier ideas and characters can come back.

. I experiment and try different styles. It's very exciting for me to give different interpretations and visions of my characters. I believe art is a language and it's okay to know and use different ones. I may draw my creatures in different ways and in different styles, but their essence, idea and soul do not change. I rarely post them, but these experiments help me understand them better.

Another example of a stylization use - my Setow creature as a realistic model and in a stylized illustration. By the way, stylization is more canonical for Setow.

. It's sometimes very difficult to maintain a balance between my inner harmony, my inner knowlege, feeling, intuition and journey, and anxiety about other people's reactions, judgment, interest, interpretation and sometimes negativity, humiliation, misunderstanding and blame. I'm still looking for balance.

And in the end - all the attention I get sometimes overwhelms me and makes me feel lost, but I'm also really glad that my art and creatures create interest and there are so many people who like them! I'm grateful to you all and I hope that my journey can be inspiring for others too, for people who also like drawing and imagining their characters. I value genuine love for imagined and created worlds, and this love can come in many forms.

(It took me really a lot of courage to share this post and some of my sketches and concepts, but I hope you enjoy it! ^^' )

PRESENTING THE REDESIGN OF THE GIRLBOSS QUEEN AMAYA 📢🗣🗣(I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE FINISHED THE DRAWINGS)

It should be noted that this is a redesign for the Wish Au character written by @ animación , who helped me with the ideas and references for Amaya's design,@ animación it is very fun to collaborate with you :D

Now I will start to explain how we came to make this design:

-At first I didn't have many ideas for their design (the truth is before I was concentrating more on Aster and Asha) so I decided to watch the Whis movie to get a better idea of the aesthetic I wanted to look for them………yes, the movie is not that good, later I will talk about my opinion of the movie but in terms of design I was disappointed that out of so many possibilities for the design and costumes of royalty, Disney chose a neutral color palette with small details of blue color, I don't know, I feel like there were so many striking possibilities wasted for they desings.

-Well, continuing with the topic, the author of this Au Wish sent me references about what her vision was about the design of Amaya, which were mostly about the storyboards of the movie, I really liked the idea, since it gave me vibes of a threatening but elegant queen,she also sent me some concept art of Mother Gothel that I used as a reference for the structure of Amaya's face

This gave me the idea of also using Sephora that belongs to the movie "The Prince of Egypt" as a reference for the aesthetic that I more or less wanted for the character.

so first I decided to practice the structure of the face to familiarize myself with the design :D (I clarify that I traced the structure of the drawings here because it was just a practice, I used none of these sketches in the final result)

After a while I started making my own sketches when I finally understood how to draw the face

(For the hairstyle, I was guided by the photos that the author sent me, I almost forgot to put that😅)

-I also decided that instead of putting a crown on Amaya, I put a kind of headband with a jewel, because in addition to being comfortable, practical and cute (something that greatly characterizes Amaya's style)

It is also a parallel to my Asha design which has a diamond-shaped tattoo on her forehead.

-Now talking about Amaya's dress, yes or yes I wanted to design a cape with a hood, although at first I thought about adding a neckline to the top part of the dress, an idea came to me which was to be inspired by the Greek mythology character Circe, since curiously she is also a sorceress, I mentioned this to the author and she mentioned that at first when trying to draw her she was inspired by the conceptual art of Megara, who is also Greek, so in the end she decided that maybe the queen comes from from a town in Greece (Also this could have something to do with her backstory 👀)

-At some point in the story we discover that Amaya keeps different potions inside her dress (I guess for emergencies, I don't know), that's why I decided that the dress has a small opening, because in addition to making it easier for you to walk, it would also help you. get your potions out in an easier way (her potions are attached to a belt that would be on her leg or waist I suppose).

-In the end I designed these 3 prototypes and sent them to the author to help me decide which one to choose or which to combine because the truth is I couldn't choose alone (I'm too indecisive).As I said, I was inspired by the character of Circe, so I looked for references of how the Greek goddesses dressed in ancient paintings, and if you look a little closer you can notice that I added the Leo symbol, since it represents the lion. , an animal that was associated with the Greek mythology character I mentioned

Another important detail is the moons on her dress, since it represents motherhood, an aspect that Amaya uses as a facade with her people, and speaking of space, the writer gave me the idea that Magnifico represents the sun since in her own words:

"I know the association with the sun and the moon fits their personalities really well. As the sun can be seen as bright, fun and warm like Magnifico presents himself, but it can also be a force of destruction that burns and is unpredictable. And the moon can be associated with Amaya for being a protective glow in the darkness like how she presents herself as a caring guide, but the moon also has a mysterious dark side we can never see.And the moon only shines to us because the sun is shining on it, so like… Amaya only shines because she’s next to Magnifico"

(Honestly, I'm always surprised by how much symbolism the writer can find for the characters, I only put it in because of what I mentioned before and because I thought it looked cute lol).

(I came up with the belt and most of the costume thanks to this circe painting)

-Don't think that I decided on the colors yellow and dark blue just because they go together well, nonono, this one also has a meaning :D , you see, while I was looking at some of Wish's concept art there were these discarded designs of Magnifico:

And doing a little google search I found this:

-That's why I chose these colors, blue is a color that represents the truth, something that Amaya and Magnifico want to pretend, but the color yellow represents what they truly are, liars.

-And finally (because this writing is taking me more than 2 hours) the roses that are in her dress and hair are natural, and without giving you too many spoilers about the rewrite, Amaya suddenly ages a little, and when this happens the roses also have a change as they wither

"You're here earlier than usual." One of them comments as you pass by.

"Yeah, the last lecture was cancelled and I had no other plans", you respond with a smile.

"You know it's getting serious when your free time is turned into training time. That's how it was for me!" the man lets out a hearty laugh.

"No way, I'm not made for this." You wave your hand in dismissal. "I'm just going with the flow and seeing where that takes me."

You go on your way, ruminating over the brief exchange. It's been a few months since you began taking karate lessons at the Dojo. You still remember Katsumi's perplexed expression as you stood before him, handing over the sign up papers.

"A-are you sure? The sparring can get quite rough and you're... well... uh..."

"You advertise it as perfect for self defense. Who needs it more, the buff pal over there or this short college student that can't even sketch in the park without being harassed by perverts?"

You slap the papers on the table with a loud thud. The man blushes slightly, realizing the irony.

"I apologize. You're entirely right." He scans over the form. "Evening classes. That's when I teach, actually! Looking forward to seeing you, then."

After the first few weeks of mostly standard workout in order to build stamina, you started learning the basics. Katsumi was greatly surprised and equally impressed by your unexpected skill. Turns out you weren't half bad at this! And so he suggested you show up more often, because he wanted to see how your newly discovered talent would develop in time.

As thankful as you are for his support, you find the whole ordeal rather funny. You don't have any intention of becoming some professional fighter. You're an artist and plan to remain one for the indefinite future. The little karate hobby serves as your dose of healthy activity and as the occasional inspiration, since you particularly enjoy recreating the human body and its intricacies on paper or in clay.

"Oh, (Y/N)!" Katsumi spots you and gestures for you to come over. Your nostalgic daydreaming has been interrupted. "Remember when I said that it helps to expand your knowledge? I have just the person for that." He places a hand on your back and guides you further into one of the main rooms.

"Here she is, Retsu-san. You might not believe it at first, neither did I, but I guarantee you she has a lot of potential."

You bow slightly to the stranger in front of you and he silently returns the gesture. He seems mildly awkward about the encounter.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I follow. What is this about?" you ask, somewhat confused. The deep stare of the long haired man intimidates you, so you avoid it by throwing quick glances at Katsumi instead.

"Would you be interested in learning Chinese Kenpo? This is Kaiou Retsu. He'll be joining us at the Dojo for a while. I thought you could use some variety."

"Shouldn't you be asking him if he's willing to teach rookies like me?" you wonder if this poor man had his services offered against his will.

"It is my great pleasure to spread the knowledge of this ancient art. I only ask that you treat it with respect and don't take it lightly." Retsu straightens his back and looks ahead, in no particular direction.

Ah, how embarrassing. He can't even look at her properly. He wishes he could drag Katsumi out in the hallway and whack some common sense into him. The least he could've done was to let him know who to expect.

Obviously he's seen women before. He's been out of the temple for a long time now. So why is he acting so strange all of a sudden? Katsumi was very secretive about his new favorite student and refused to give him any details besides "you won't regret it". He anticipated anything but this. He's especially baffled at his own reaction meeting (Y/N).

All he can do now is to pray that he isn't so obvious in just how flustered this woman has gotten him. He wonders if Katsumi went through the same nervousness when he first met you. He secretly peeks at the young man and notices how relaxed he seems to be next to you. Yeah, perhaps he just needs a little time. Then he can treat you with the same confidence, too.

"What matters the most here is actually the placement of the foot. If it's slightly tilted the wrong way, you lose all support and everything else falls apart. A good kick needs an equally good grounding."

Retsu is in his comfort zone. For a mere moment, he can forget his audience and focus on his technique. This is what he does best. Still concentrated, he unbuttons his shirt and throws it aside, as this is how he usually fights.

"Find the weak point depending on your opponent's stance, and quickly make your move before they've got it figured out."

He demonstrates the attack, followed by a few skillful jumps as he returns to his initial spot. He checks to see if you've been following his instructions, a prideful smile plastered on his face. Your eyes are wide, mouth slightly open in shameless marvel. His smile immediately vanishes and is replaced by an embarrassed frown. Why are you looking at him like that? It's one of the most basic moves he can think of.

You suddenly clap your hands together and lower your head in a begging posture. The way his body bends and folds in such a fluid, continuous way, the way his muscles contract rhythmically in a calculated vigor... This man is not only a master of martial arts, but your newly found muse.

"Please excuse my rudeness, but I really can't think of a better way to put it. Might I be allowed to sketch you during your training? I really wish I could capture your artistry."

You shyly glance up, worried you may have angered the Chinese man. He's covering his face with one hand and you tense up, unsure of how to proceed. Should you apologize? Then you manage to discern the deep blush that's taken over his face.

He must calm down at once. He's inhaling deeply, attempting to regulate his breathing. He can feel the vibration of his heart slamming into his chest at great speed. Truly, how happy your words made him. And this brings him to the abrupt realization that he will never be like Katsumi around you.

It's been a little under a month since he's met you, and the slightest interaction coming from you makes his whole composure collapse into shambles. All the feelings and thoughts are now avalanching over, burying him and making him unable to let a single word out. It could very well be that he's in love with you, but it's a frightful, rabid adoration that trickles out of his grasp, as if it could escape from his control at any moment. It's a terrifying discovery for someone that so values their discipline.

"If it's too troublesome, you can forget about it. I got too excited. To be honest, I've been using you as a reference for some time now, but it felt wrong not to tell you about it."

You crouch down to your backpack and hesitantly pull out a notebook with pages sticking out. You peel open the covers and spread some of the papers onto the ground, for a better view.

Retsu squats down with you and gazes over the detailed pencil works, partly distracted. He'd appreciate your anatomical accuracy if it wasn't for his presently feverish state. He places your hands between his and analyzes them. What a difference. Dainty, fragile and yet powerful enough to win Katsumi's respect. Nonetheless of insignificant size compared to his large, calloused and weathered palms. To think that you've been watching him the same way he's been watching you all this time. Perhaps for somewhat different reasons. How would you react if you knew? What would you think of someone like him?

"Umm..." you swallow dryly as you attempt to break the silence. You can almost hear a faint ringing in your ears.

What if you were to reject his confession? It wouldn't be the first time he's faced defeat. Retsu is however unsure if he'd be willing to accept it this time. He looks at you with newly found resolve. No matter what, he'll do what it takes to become a man worthy of your love. If only he could remain your inspiration forever.

Sandong is a noble from the Dongtian Kingdom who's arrived at the Xiatian Kingdom as a diplomatic envoy. She is 21-years-old and is very quiet. Her facial expression doesn't change much and she prefers to keep to herself. She doesn't have much to say, but enjoys letting you talk. She's a welcome change of pace to the typically hectic palace. Her icy demeanor intimidates some people, but maybe you find it charming?

Summary: Aziraphale and Crowley get the ending they deserve, hidden away from doing the biddings of Heaven and Hell when Aziraphale makes his final choice.

A/N: Hello, hello! I offer up another treat. After listening and heavily inspired by Tracey Champan's Fast Car, I had to write something for the ineffable husbands. I know there's no reader featured, but I really wanted to focus on this alternative ending for them. I hope you enjoy. This is dedicated to @novaracer. Comments and reblogs are greatly appreciated!

Agony.

That’s the feeling creeping along the recesses of Crowley’s mind. He leaned against the Bentley, his beloved car, heart thrumming in anticipation.

He knew surely how lovestruck and forlorn -albeit lost- he looked but he didn’t care. Since when did Heaven and Hell have to continue calling the shots in their life on this earth? It was worth protecting.

Aziraphale was worth protecting.

He swallowed again, foot tapping on the sidewalk now as time slowed, people in lower Soho toddling by through their mid-afternoon excursions. It was an odd ambiance, one Crowley wasn't particularly fond of, but Aziraphale thrived in the heart and hubbub of a city.

Aziraphale.

The name made his chest falter, and his breath caught as he gazed back to the bookshop doors across the street as they finally, finally crept open. All the hoping, watching, waiting, and joy flowing through his veins skyrocketed tenfold as he caught a glimpse of Aziraphale and his luggage.

Muriel followed behind, dutifully toting a vintage trunk, encouraged by Aziraphale’s ramblings from the look of it while he hauled a briefcase and smaller trunk up to the Bentley.

“Angel,” Crowley warned, holding out his hand to balance Aziraphale who stumbled on the sidewalk, “you need to watch your step.”

“I can assure you, I am capable of handling myself, Crowley,” he muttered, a hint of a blush flushing his cheeks.

“Mr. Fell, is this where you want the trunk?” Muriel smiled, struggling to open the back door of the Bentley which stubbornly refused to oblige their wish.

“That’s fine, Muriel, thank you!” Aziraphale shifted as Crowley relieved him of the smaller trunk, throwing open the back door, leaving Muriel shocked as he stacked the trunks carefully. He usually wouldn’t care in the slightest but Aziraphale had made a choice and chosen him, chosen their side.

Us.

The word so small and insignificant sent the kindling flame within his chest burning and he closed the door, smiling at Muriel.

“Aziraphale’s leaving the shop in your capable hands, I see.”

“Oh yes, Mr. Crowley! I’ve got everything planned and in tip-top order!” Muriel gave a thumbs up and turned away to the coffee shop, where Nina stood poised at the door to welcome them in. She waved at Aziraphale and Crowley which they returned, a small smile on her face as she guided Muriel in to treat them to a fancy frozen drink.

“Ready to go, then?” Crowley drew closer, brushing a finger along the lapels of Airaphale’s cream-colored jacket. Aziraphale swallowed, casting a quick look back at the bookshop that stood quietly, somehow bidding him a bittersweet farewell as his hand shifted to reach for the Bentley’s passenger door.

Crowley’s hand fell gently on top of his.

“No, Angel, let me.”

Aziraphale didn’t question it, not when Crowley opened the door for him, waiting until he got comfortable in his seat before shutting the door and joining him in his respective driver’s seat. They sat there a moment basking in the quiet, Crowley’s sunglasses still perched dutifully on the bridge of his nose.

Aziraphale somehow craved to see the demon’s eyes in the full sunlight, their brilliant shade of yellow. So many things were left unsaid, but it felt right, even after the argument.

“Oh for heaven’s sake drive, Crowley!”

And so they did, down across the expanse of the city, into the wide spaces of the country. Anything and everything was before them. It was only them.

Us.

Such a simple word, but it was all Crowley could want and more. Aziraphale’s choice was one he wouldn’t forget. He didn’t pull away when Aziraphale rested his hand on his thigh, squeezing in encouragement.

The Bentley slowed, Crowley’s grip slipping on the wheel a fraction of a moment- a thousand fractions of moments. The touch was burning, searing full of so many unspoken words that he dared not speak.

The want was too much.

So it went on, and on, the Bentley switching from Queen to slow romantic ballroom dancing right as it stopped in front of a countryside manor in the sprawling hills. Hidden in a glen amid a grove of trees, it provided the privacy, yet all the comforts of home one could need. Crowley had ensured it, knew it would fit their life here on Earth, even though he’d prefer to be in the heavens amongst his nebulas.

“Oh Crowley, it’s quite lovely!” Aziraphale chuckled when the Bentley stopped in the cobbled driveway, chirping happily.

Crowley smiled his gaze lingering on Azriaphale allowing the silence to wash over them. Peace, happiness, togetherness. It was worth it in the end and as Crowley guided Azirphale to the door of their new abode, he stopped, looking out over the countryside, and the trees, inhaling deeply.

“This is something akin to paradise, Crowley.”

“Well Angel, I reckon it is.”

Crowley says nothing more, practically stumbling as Aziraphale closes the space between them, and reaches for the lapels of his jacket, their lips connecting, hungering for more.

Yes, all was quite well in the world, a little slice of happiness. A nightingale sang a happy tune in the distance as the door latched behind the angel and demon, sheltering them from the world that had taken and given them so much for eternity.

A writer’s guide to forests: the timber harvest

Looking for something that can serve to set the atmosphere, be a background detail, or even be a plot point? One idea would be the logging industry. No matter your characters or their society, as long as they live on land, they will need wood. The scale of harvesting can greatly impact the forest, and your characters.

The three methods of harvesting both wild and managed woodland are:

Clear cutting- In the short term, this method allows for the greatest yield. An area of forest, sometimes many acres in area, is selected, and all trees within are felled. What happens next can vary. Land slated for settlement or farming will be left cleared, while areas that are part of a managed woodland or plantation will be left to regenerate. Periodically, trees that are diseased or crowded will be removed, but otherwise the forest will be left alone until the time of harvesting. Clear cutting is controversial as the wide scale destruction leaves the topsoil exposed and vulnerable to being carried away by the wind or water runoff. The large scale clearing also destroys large swaths of habitat for wildlife, which can spell trouble for endangered species.

Seed tree harvesting-This is a variation on clear cutting. At the time of harvest, several trees are spared from cutting. These then disperse seeds which become the basis for new growth. As the new trees grow, they are periodically thinned, and the parent trees are harvested. Once the trees reach maturity, a small number are marked to be left standing, and the cycle begins again. As the forest floor is (almost) fully exposed, this method of harvesting suffers from the same problems as regular clear cutting.

Select harvesting- The least destructive method of logging. Only a small number of trees are harvested, with the rest of the forest left alone. As more of the canopy is left intact, the forest floor will naturally be shaded, and the growth of new trees will be slower than if the area was cleared and exposed to the sun. Critics argue that this makes selective cutting not viable from a monetary standpoint, especially when there is a high demand for wood and wood derivatives. Supporters say it is more sustainable and preserves the most forest area for wildlife.

No matter how the forest is harvested in your story, there will be a few things that will more or less be constant. Your characters will need some sort of camp where they live, and where they bring logs. There may be a sawmill on site, as well as a way to transport characters, wood, and supplies. Roads or railways can be used to move on level ground. If there are hills or deep ravines, it would make sense for some sort of chute, funicular, tramway, or switchback railway to be used. And don’t forget about water. Rivers, lakes, and canals can be traversed by boat, with large inlets or natural harbors being the ideal anchorage for timber ships. What is the daily life of people here?

Now, the disruptions caused by logging can be a driving factor or your plot. This could trigger conflict between lumbermen and activists, or people who already live in the forest. What will the felling of trees mean for the wildlife? And is this just a timer harvest, or the prelude to settlement? How these conflicts play out will affect your characters and their society. Look to history for inspiration, but don’t be afraid to take things is a different direction.

Do not hide them from the world for you would not have them if they were not meant to be of a special use. This world is in need of your help but it is up to you whether you are willing to take the leap...

Why have you let the voices win or at least act like they are winning? Why have you given up on seeing wonder and beauty? You had so much fire & creativity running through those veins but now they look empty. We hold onto hope still that one day you will burst forth like a phoenix and show the world how wonderful the true soul that exists within you is! This battle is yours to face though, we cannot fight the demons for you, that is how one learns and grows you see but know we will watch and guide always and hope you will see past the cloud of negativity that fogs around you.

Fae Advice: If you are struggling with limiting beliefs, self-doubt and negative thinking I can offer some advice. If you feel comfortable write down the thoughts that plague your mind and knock your confidence, it is my experience those thoughts linger unless you look at them realistically writing them down helps you see that they are silly and hold no power. look at what you have written does it hold any truth, is there any facts to back it up? Probably not! Then you can add beside the negative thought the true good thought, make sure to draw a line through the negative thought afterward to let the universe know this is not your belief. An example on my end could be: My opinion doesn't matter. Who put this thought in me? Why do I choose to believe it without thinking critically about it? what I should believe is: My opinions and views do matter as I have insight and thoughts no one else may have and those opinions may be the very thing a person or the world needs to hear in that moment. Hope this helps you all!
