Day 114
[Transcription Begins]
1: “Where’s 3? We’ve started the meeting recording already.”
22: “With 18, 3’s been there since he’s came home. Hasn’t been out in a day.”
>> Something distressing must’ve occurred.
1: “What?”
22: “18’s a pastor— I forgot you haven’t met him yet—and 14’s current guardian. Give them a few minutes. 3’s usually not late.”
>> We can reschedule, if need be.
1: “It’d be better to get it out of the way, though.”
>> Perhaps.
3: “Hey—sorry, thanks for waiting.”
>> Welcome
22: “Glad you made it back safe, 3.”
1: “Yeah man, congrats, how do you feel?.”
3: “It was… a lot. It wasn’t, like, dangerous, but… anyways how do want to do this anyways? Did y’all read my report?”
>> I have.
22: “No, I didn’t get the chance. But 3 do you want to talk about it?”
3: “Nope!”
>> 3’s thoughts were clear in the report.
22: “Alright…”
1: “I skimmed the document. We can just start from the top.”
3: “Sure, okay. I left, of course. The bots were all outpacing me, for the most part, except my extension that was there to help me traverse some of the rubble and communicate with the others. They went ahead to each of the points, did their scans, and then waited for me to catch up, read prelim results, and comment on it. Most of the time they were able to pick up everything I detected. Everything that was either a delicate part or delicately positioned I had to try for, with some mixed results. I’m getting the feeling there’s usually an augment that does the scanning for them?”
>> You would be correct.
3: “Yeah, that was tricky. You might’ve noticed the reduced numbers on the report, and that it took longer for NOM-7 to fix all the stuff I did.”
1: “I’m sure you did great, man. What did y’all find?”
3: “Different stuff, some of it salvageable, some of it already salvaged. A lot, and I mean a lot, of rubble. Um… some worse than rubble. A lot of the dead, under that rubble.”
22: “Oh.”
1: “... I see.”
3: “I—I know we know people died, especially those of us who weren’t in the pods, but it was a lot. And it smelled really bad. It was disgusting. And—some of them were burned, some of the grid has burn damage—looks like battery explosions, something like that. The transmission lines were fucked up.”
>> The extensions marked down all the transmission lines that were and were not operational within the area, but it’s good to know the seeming cause.
3: “Yeah. The damage gets worse the farther you get from the district center in the grid—the solar flare was early, right? Those were the areas not properly shut off.”
1: “That would make sense.”
3: “There’s a lot out there. Not everything’s salvageable—most of it can really just be stripped for parts. But, if most of the damage is confined to the transition lines, theoretically, the farther reaches of the districts are undamaged and can be scavenged for even more stuff: solar panels, maybe even more batteries. We could have a lot to work with.”
1: “Really?”
22: “That sounds really good.”
>> Excellent, really. With enough parts we may be even able to refit or make new bots as needed. Perhaps even have substantial solar batteries for a longer term energy solution.
1: “Or restart the grid, cutting out the middleman and really fixing our problem.”
22: “Restart the grid?”
1: “Yeah, the power district isn’t generating anything. We’re losing days because we consume more energy than we make. We can restart the plant and the parts of the city that aren’t down for the count, and then no longer have to worry about energy loss.”
22: “That would be so good! With the power district on we could have the light rail on and get stuff from our houses or get things from the farther corners of the city - maybe even get the interstate rail going enough to see if other parts of the country have anything going themselves.”
>> But, that could be dangerous. Who knows if we need as much energy as would be generated? What if we generate more than we can use? We don’t know the full extent of damage and may further damage what we have.
3: “Well what about the batteries? What if we turn on the plant for a small bit of time, direct the energy to the batteries, and then shut off so we can measure the output?”
>> You continue to propose a risky proposition. The generator creates a lot of power and requires multiple transistors in order to output a voltage that doesn’t damage the batteries. We do not know which transistors are functional.
1: “That can be done though. We can do that, we can do that conversion if we have enough transistors and do our groundwork.”
3: “It would be a lot. We’d need a lot of extensions to help the process, especially to map out the grid in a more detailed way.”
>> Perhaps we should prioritize stopgap measures rather than rush to the largest solution. Perhaps send larger expeditions to the father parts of the city, and improve our current status so that we can restart the power plant when we are more informed and better prepared.
1: “Can we afford to be that cautious? We only have, what, 100 days left?
>> 113.9492034 days.
3: “Basically 100.”
1: “But like - what if we run out of time while scavenging? That’s the absolute worst case scenario. What kind of other objective out do we have?”
>> We can rebuild one district at a time—perhaps we restart a mini generator and hook up more panels to the grid, and expand, in order to match our current production.
1: “Estimate how long that’d take, 23.”
>>... 120 days, perhaps, depending on the locations of the solar panels.
3: “That’s more than what we have.”
22: “And we wouldn’t be fully back, would we? Still limited access to our comforts and electronics?”
3: “I don’t think we should wait. Do you think we have enough to start something, 1?”
1: “I think we do. We’ve picked up a good chunk of info these past two squad runs and we can predict the rest, and it’s probably the safest bet we have. Because if slowly building it up fails, we don’t have another option - if the power plant fails, we can rebuild slowly.
>> The worst case scenario of the power plant is destruction of what we already have.
1: “If we shut things down and be careful, it’s not going to happen.”
>> What about the unknown factors? What about the sheep?
3: “Sheep?”
1: “Dude, they probably just ran away.”
>> Highly unlikely. There were also extensions damaged by this attack.
22: “I don’t think there’s anyone who’d be out there that long and not either attack us or try to get sanctuary with us. That would just be weird, people aren’t like that.”
3: “Sorry, is anyone going to explain the sheep thing to me?”
1: “Later, 3. We can’t just wait around for a low electricity scenario, we’ve got to try to get back our city somehow, and I think we’re ready to try. Even if we fail, we just get more information to try again later.”
>> We ought to prepare for a low electricity scenario. It is the most likely end result. Like it or not, it is unlikely we will ever have the old Solaris again.
22: “Christ, don’t say that to me. How do we even make that work? It’d be terrible.”
3: “Days like these I wish I was a boy scout. Then I’d know something about survival skills.”
>> I do not think it’s fair that you all regularly override my thought processes founded in logic simply because the way that the world unfolds is discomforting to you. I speak with a genuine concern for the quality of our electric grid and capacity to handle surge inputs, and all you care about is your comfort.
22: “23, look - you don’t know what it’s like to be a person in times like these, 23. You’re, you know, missing data. I wasn’t born for this.”
1: “I sure as hell wasn’t, either.”
>> Perhaps you underestimate the risks. Maybe a lower quality of life is simply the consequence of the natural disaster in the first place. Maybe we simply have to adjust to that quality of life, and that is what life requires of you.
3: “That sounds like quitter’s talk to me.”
1: “Oh yeah, buddy. I’m not doing that.”
22: “I’ve got to agree with the group here. What would I even tell the others? We’re maybe going to be patient and wait it out? The others can see the archive, and read this as soon as we’re done here.”
3: “Hi guys!”
>> Heed me, please: a low probability of great damage is worse than the risk of mild but guaranteed inconvenience. If we have another surge, it will destroy everything. You would have to reboot me, reboot the others. You do not know what data we would lose. I would not be the same. You’d be alone.
1: “But aren’t the districts separate enough that we can isolate the generator?”
>> Not enough. Not entirely.
3: “We can finish the rest off, keep this area separated from the grid.”
>> That would mean going without the other bots for the duration of the mission, perhaps longer! If a decline in quality of life is unacceptable, how would the others agree?
22: “Can we rig the essential things to a solar panel?”
3: “Some of it. Not everything has the capacity.”
1: “But enough of it. I think it’s worth the risk. We were worried about 3, weren’t we? And 3’s back and safe.”
22: “Even mostly sane.”
3: “Mostly.”
1: “I think our next priority should be to restart the power plant. I’m going to work with NOM-7 to start sending out smaller units to get key parts from what we left behind during the last expedition.”
>> If you are determined on this path, let me not be the one that stops you.
3: “Man, you’re such a downer, you know that?”
>> Simply realistic. If your minds are made up, I am done here, I have work to do. Thank you for meeting with me everyone.
22: “I’ll work with the others, to win them over and get them to agree.”
3: “I’ll start separating our section from the rest.”
>> Please send progress reports at the 50% and 90% mark of the project.
1: “Roger that.”
3: “Sure.”
22: “Of course.”

au in which robert, the starks and the lannisters play monopoly instead of going hunting and pushing each other‘s kids from towers.
tyrion implements a tax system to make things more interesting and fights cersei over the cat for a solid ten minutes.
around thirty minutes into the game, catelyn realizes that she has free will and stops paying taxes.
arya and sansa haggle over new york avenue, which ends up being bought by theon. this causes the two to completely cast aside their differences, ally and subsequently start doing everything in their power to make theon‘s life hell.
theon himself is quite severely stoned the entire time throughout.
ned enters horrendous debt pretty much immediately and, after two hours of being financially sucked dry by both cersei and his tax evader of a wife, decides to just place his figurine in jail and never leave.
jon, playing the dog, controls the railroads and makes jaime, playing the ship, go completely broke within minutes. being beaten by a bastard and officially the first to lose the game makes jaime so mad he spends the rest of the evening perched on the family‘s ancestral armchair eating flaming hot cheetos and stifling sobs.
cersei is holding onto her last two dollars and her one house in atlantic avenue like a maniac and evades taxes like it‘s an olympic sport. she claims ownership of kentucky avenue on the grounds that red is her house‘s color at least twice. after three hours, she‘s consumed enough vintage red to kill a large mammal and keeps quoting the art of war. fascinatingly enough, she never goes completely broke.
robert, just as broke and drunk as his wife but not nearly as ferocious, proposes marriage for tax advantages to bran, who is in possession of the boardwalk and lets him dangle on his proposition for two rounds before accepting and feeling like a benevolent god.
sansa sees this and immediately proposes to arya, who accepts, only for them to be sued by their mother for public indecency („you‘re siblings, jesus christ!“). arya argues that this is just a game and that one could argue that robert‘s and bran‘s marital alliance is just as if not even more inappropriate, considering that bran is seven and robert thirtyseven. sansa countersues her mother for tax evasion, who promises she‘ll drop her lawsuit if her daughters let her keep hoarding perverse amounts of wealth. „love wins!“ arya says, which causes jaime, still perched on the armchair but now eating old nan‘s home made whiskey truffles, to hysterically sob. cersei stares him down.
robb, in a rare moment of almost prophetic foresight, excuses himself one hour in and goes on a very, VERY long walk with grey wind.
tyrion, whose tax system has spectacularly backfired in his face, proposes marriage to catelyn, jon and cersei in rapid succession, who all turn him down. „i wish i was the monster you think i am. i wish i had enough poison for the whole pack of you. i would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it.“ he screams before he leaves the table.
at that, joffrey, who has refused to participate and instead sits on the couch playing doom on his nintendo ds, starts hysterically laughing. tyrion turns on his heel and awards his nephew with the bitchslap of the century. this causes cersei to completely abandon the game and chase after him with a broom. catelyn makes sure that everyone is distracted by the lannister antics and then reaches across the table and bags cersei‘s money and properties.
with a heavy heart, myrcella trades arya and sansa one of her limited edition bayala schleich unicorns for park place.
at this point, the game is between the tycoons that are catelyn and jon, the bran-robert alliance, the arya-sansa-alliance, and ned, who is still in jail and watching ice hockey on his phone under the table. that is when catelyn hears rickon gagging and discovers that he, in the absence of tyrion, the self declared bank manager, has managed to eat all bank notes from the box.
rickon gets his stomach pumped, cersei and tyrion have both been arrested, theon is still stoned, arya, sansa and myrcella have wandered off to go play schleich horses, and jon remains at the table, alone, content, and quietly considering himself the winner.

So I recently play Reverse: 1999.
It brings a refreshing game and nice breeze of EN VA. I didn't use JP VA like usual because it already sounds very good.
Yesterday, the UTTU event has ended. It's my first UTTU in this game.
At first glance I thought this is like Contigency Contract in Arknights or Project Babel in Punishing: Gray Raven. But it's not quite the same because some earlier stage you can borrow some assist crew.
BUT MAN, STAGE 19 IS LIKE HELL! 🔨🔨
Stage 19 enemy: Shamane, ToothFairy, and Six.
My level isn't at the recommendation, so it probably why I struggle so much. I repeat so many times that I disgusted at seeing Six and ToothFairy ultimate.
I pray everytime that TF didn't heal lol. She truly a marvelous healer (Ω Д Ω）. I try my best to keep her teeth below five stack.
After plenty of struggle, at last I win on 15/15 turn. I almost fail because it near the turn limit, but thank goodness! Lucky! At last I freed from those horrible pair.
Since I lack of healer, I put the Moissan card on my best doggo in the game.
I primary use GoodStudent (Healing), New Friend (Pollution), and Trendy Tea (Incantation Might).
That's why you can see Pickles heals a lot XD.
In Arknights, I call this stalling strategy. Ahem!
On stage 20— my finish line (because it has a nice profile picture), we fought ThirtySeven and Six. It's actually a very decent fight. I win in single run, perhaps thanks to Sonetto disarm skill and no healer on enemy side XDD.
Yeah, that's that!
I enjoy the game. I really hope my team will be more prepared on the next UTTU (≡^∇^≡).
Now now, who play Reverse:1999 too?
It is an interesting game. I'm planning to play for quite long time... unless my storage unable to handle it. Now that's another story.
