i feel like the only reason that leo and annabeth aren't Best Friends is because jason and percy are doing everything within their powers to make sure that doesn't happen, for everyone else's safety and sanity. piper on the other hand... piper dares them to make stupid and dangerous inventions and watches the chaos unfold

hello, you could do something with Sirius by going to meet the reader's parents (Sirius was insecure about this), but he is welcomed and the reader's whole family seems to love him
thanks for requesting, sweetheart!! 847 words f!reader
this is short and thrown together worse than Sirius' cookies. sorry.
Sirius is crowded around your niece, boxing her in against the counter as she stands on her cooking stool. He'd been the only one left with enough energy to make cookies with her after dinner. It's sweet, the gentle tone he uses with her, the patience he has that allows her to do everything by herself. He doesn't balk when she spills all of the measured flour straight onto the counter, just hands her the bag with extra caution and tells her he'll tidy it up later, that mistakes happen.
They're in their own little world, unaware, or simply uncaring, of the eyes on them. You know a little about Sirius' past; his horrible family, his traumatic upbringing, how he never truly felt loved by anyone except his younger brother until he ran away and the Potters took him in. It would've been enough for you to assume the idea of doing such an activity, that requires such patience and acceptance of mess, would send Sirius spiralling. Except, he's embraced it openly, he was more than willing, and he seems to be truly enjoying himself.
In all the time you've known Sirius, you've known him to love loud and abrasive. He's jagged around the edges, a bright, shattered light of chaos and pure energy. He's over the top, loves too hard, is quick to anger. But with your niece, it's the first time you've ever seen Sirius quiet, soft. He's all gentle movements and murmured encouragements, and you like this version of him, but you find yourself waiting for your Sirius to return. The Sirius who can command a room with a single smile, whose laugh sounds more like a barking doberman, whose presence takes up every last drop of attention.
He'd been so nervous about meeting your family. Understandable, given his own upbringing. But, he never had any reason to worry. Not with the way your sister and mother watch him, black top and jeans covered in flower, dried egg white smeared across his cheek, and still, a wide smile across his lips every time your niece turns around, as if checking he's still there. Still encouraging her. He always is.
"You think you'll have one soon?" Your sister asks. There's a sly smirk on her face, as though the sight before you was purposefully designed to make you broody.
You answer with a shrug. You're not broody, but theres a glow to your heart with the idea of this being healing for Sirius. "Not sure. We've never spoken about it."
Your family don't know about Sirius' past, at his request. He'd wanted to earn their respect, not receive it through pity. You can't wait to tell him they respect him beyond what he could've ever imagined. He'll be so happy. He'd spent the whole way over fretting about whether he'd picked the right outfit, the right aftershave, what he should and shouldn't say. You didn't have the heart to tell him that your family, whether or not they'd met him before, already loved him, simply because of how happy he made you.
"You'd make cute babies." Your sister tilts her head to the side, very obviously ogling your boyfriend and you scoff.
"Subtle."
She shrugs, unfazed.
"I'm just saying. No man I've ever met has the patience for toddlers the way he does." She picks up her wine glass, takes a pointed sip, eyebrows raised.
"We'll see." You reply.
"He makes you happy. It's hard to watch your daughters grow up, navigate life and love," Your mother chips in, hands splayed out across the dining table, "It's hard to watch them fall, pick themselves back up, and fall again. Hard to watch them trust the wrong people. But I have no doubt that man would ever hurt you. He, perhaps, loves you more than anyone in this world."
It's a nice thought. The idea of Sirius loving you most. Your eyes find his, conversation coming to a halt as he lifts your niece out of her cooking stool and she toddles over to your sister.
The cookies are in the oven, and Sirius has gotten straight to the task of cleaning up. You join him, piling bowls and utensils into the dish washer whilst he wipes the copious amounts of spilled flour off of the counter.
"You think tonight went okay?" He asks, nervous eyes flicking to where your mother and Sister are fussing over your niece.
You lean across, lips pressed to the cracked egg white smudged across his cheek, "More than. They love you."
Your boyfriend breathes out in relief, "Thank god, because I have no idea how to make cookies and I need them to already like me when they taste them, in case they fail."
A startled laugh tumbles out of your lips and Sirius follows. Your Sirius, loudest laugh in the room, the man with the biggest heart you've ever known - even if it's bruised and battered.
"I'm sure it'll be fine, babe."
Sirius tsks, "You say that now, let's just wait and see if I give anyone salmonella."

Silly light headcanons because I really need them
I've been going through a very tough time and today I really need some fluff to distract myself. I hope you enjoy.
BEN teaches the older creeps that are bad with electronics how to play video games. They have creep family game nights, and the older creeps usually don't participate because they aren't as good, so BEN has been taking them aside and teaching them how to play so they can feel more confident in participating too. He never laughs or judges them for their skills, and he reminds them that the others would be happy if they participated too.
There's a game of tag that has been going on in the mansion for several years. They keep switching who the one person that's It is, but to the point that people will forget who is It. Jeff was once It for seven months, to the point nobody could remember, and he tagged Toby in the middle of dinner which caused absolute chaos. They can choose to tag someone immediately, or hold onto it and wait for a moment of surprise, but you can't tag someone who was just It on the same day, and you can't tag people when they're asleep or working. Everyone in the mansion has been It at least probably 10 times, but they keep it going because it's so amusing. Tim is currently It, and he's been It for three months. He wants to get Slender, but Slender knows this and has been careful to avoid physical contact with Tim. Tim is a patient man. He will win this.
When someone can't fall asleep due to nightmares or bad memories haunting them, they're allowed to go to Slender, and he'll play piano for them. He'll sit with them, and play whatever song they'd like so long as he knows it or can see the sheet music for it. Sometimes they'll sit there for hours, the creep leaning sleepily against Slender as he plays for them. He'll even make a delicious warm drink for them first if they request it or he feels they could benefit from it. Slender doesn't mind missing out on his own sleep, as he likes to put the residents first and foremost. When they're calmed down and drowsy enough he'll walk them back to their room, give them a hug and a pat on the head, and send them off to bed. He'll always stay awake a little while longer in case they come back to him.
Sally has started sneaking people candy. Lately, she's been using her allowance money on others, as she feels it's one of the few ways she can help out. If someone has been very down lately, she'll ask someone to run her into town, and she'll go to her favorite candy store and pick out the creep's favorite candy if she knows it, and a few things she thinks they'd like. Once home, she'll grab some stickers from her collection, and put the stickers and the candy in the creeps room for them to find later. She does this purely to try and give them a little something to brighten their days and doesn't need anything in return, although the creeps that receive these little gifts always return the favor and get something for Sally to repay her. Her gifts have often made a few of them quite emotional, and it makes them all feel quite special.
There is a shared mansion Minecraft world. They have a rule that you can't destroy things someone else builds which everyone respects, and it's become common for people to play together. Sometimes it's the whole mansion, sometimes it's just a group of them, but they all have a lot of fun exploring the world together. BEN has built the most and often volunteers to build cool houses for everyone. Jeff helps people with mining the most and if someone asks him to get a certain amount of things for them he's happy to do it. Toby and Sally are making a zoo together, collecting a bunch of animals, and making beautiful and nice places for the animals to live in. Some of the creeps play more than others, but they try at least once a month for everyone to play together, in the same room or on a call, and it always devolves into happy chaos as everyone plays in their own special ways.

The 2nd Great Devildom Cuddle War
Summary: In which all your questions about Lucifer are answered, and the brothers realize that If he's going to play dirty, they have to play dirtier.
A/N: I planned to release this when I reached 200 followers, and got all my points written down, but hadn't finished it. I got home from work yesterday to 198 followers. So just imagine in the last couple paragraphs me panicking as I translate my brain goop.
The first war
Lucifer didn't need cuddles. He was independent. A lone wolf. Above needing the warmth of another. Quite frankly, he was embarrassed that his brothers had caused an all out war over something so foolish!
That being said….
                                      …
You had returned to the Devildom, much to everyone's surprise. You'd literally fallen from the sky into Satan's lap. Not that any of the brothers were complaining. They'd all felt very lonely without you.
After all the chaos of your first dinner back at the House of Lamentation (had to be there), you were ready to go to bed. Luckily you wouldn't have to worry about anything! The cuddle squad was sitting together, looking pretty, waiting for the long awaited return of your cuddles.
You just had to talk to Lucifer first. He had asked you up to his room. When you arrived there, though, he looked up in confusion. Then a look of shock arose on his face.
"Oh, Y/N! Forgive me, I have some paperwork to finish before I can talk to you. Feel free to take a seat on my bed."
You tried to sit patiently, but he was taking so long, and the fire place bathed the room in such a calming light, that you found yourself drifting off. Pretty soon, you were sleeping like the dead.
Lucifer waited a couple moments, then moved over to his bed. He placed the blanket over you, then got in next to you. He didn't need cuddles. He just didn't want to move you since it was his fault you fell asleep here in the first place.
Meanwhile, the og cuddle crew was starting to get tired of sitting pretty and awaiting your return.  They all had their suspicions of what had happened, but were scared of the implications if they were right. Therefore, it was easier to just push it down and wait for you to come.
Finally, Satan stood up angrily, and stormed off. The other brothers looked at each other anxiously, then nodded at each other and followed him.
Satan didn't even touch Lucifer's door. It disintegrated from the aura of pure rage that had taken over him. Him and the other brothers stormed into the room, just as Lucifer opened an eye.
He pressed a finger to his lips with a smile, and pointed at you, who was dead asleep. Normally, they would have respected your need to sleep.
"YOU SAID YOU THOUGHT CUDDLES WERE A WASTE OF TIME!"
"I'M LOSING OUT ON BEAUTY SLEEP RIGHT NOW! I'M GETTING WRINKLES!
"IF ANYONE GETS SOLO CUDDLETIME IT SHOULD BE THEIR FIRST!"
"IT'S NOT FAIR! YOU WEREN'T EVEN GOING TO GET US A SECOND BED!"
"Why? I don't understand?"
"IF I WASN'T SO SLEEPY I'D PUNCH YOU!"
Aaaaaand you were up.
"What's going on?" You croaked. Mammon made an attempt to scoop you up, but Lucifer pulled you impossibly closer.
"You know I don't care about your cuddle sessions with my brothers, but I feel that for tonight, you should stay here, lest they keep you up all night with their racket."
You gave a giggle, and patted Lucifer's arm. "You know, if you want to join the cuddle group, you just have to ask."
"Absolutely not. This is about your well being, not "cuddles""
                                     ….
Lucifer never asked for cuddles. He just took them. You had been in the Devildom for two whole weeks now, and still the only person who had been cuddled was Lucifer. He was a wily opponent.
The brothers knew that they could never win against him on their own. So they had a battle strategy meeting. By the end of the meeting, they realized that if they were to gain cuddles, they would have to give up some cuddles.
                                     ….
"I'm so excited! I've never gotten to participate in a cuddle pile before!"
"Now, young Master, remember you have to share with the others. You can't take all of Y/N's cuddles"
Four beds. That's what you were up to now. Out of nowhere, Diavolo, Barbatos, Simeon, Solomon, and Luke had all joined the cuddle crew. They didn't even live there. How did they find out? And when did they have time to get two more beds for the cuddle parties?
"Y/N, I made us some cookies we can snack on if we wake up in the middle of the night!"
"No sugar at nighttime, you know it keeps you up."
What you didn't realize was, behind your back, the brothers had been working overtime. Asmo had been dropping hints to Solomon about getting to cuddle his two favorite masters. Beel had asked Luke to join, and bring snacks, and of course that meant Simeon had to join. For Luke, of course. Not for him. Meanwhile, Mammon and Levi "accidentally" mentioned the cuddle pile in front of Diavolo, which led to him begging Barbatos to be able to participate, which meant Barbatos also had to come.
"Now, about that TSL spinoff series…"
"Go to sleep, Solomon."
Yes, the brothers had to share you with even more people now. But the look on Lucifer's face when he surrendered and wordlessly joined the cuddle pile was priceless.
And once again, peace descended upon the Devildom!

𝙻𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚜 (𝙱𝚊𝚍𝚊 𝙻𝚎𝚎 𝚡 𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛) 𝙿𝚊𝚛𝚝 3
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Seeing the consistent efforts done by Bada, you finally decided to give her another chance.
Warnings: Just some mild language but this is fluff
(A/N: Since lots of people had requested that I should make a part 3 for this 🥺🥺 Here ya go love ya 🫶🫶)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸💮🌸
It has been months since you and Bada tried to rebuild your relationship. It wasn't perfect but seeing how consistent she was with her efforts, you finally decided to give you and her another chance at love. So you visited Team Bebe once more, they're promoting their choreography for Hwasa's new song, Chili. You actually got there while they were in the middle of recording so you got dragged along to dance with them.
"Y/N-unnie! Come dance with us!" you heard Tatter excitedly calling you to dance with them and you laughed, setting the bags of food you were carrying while Bada held your hand and dragged you to the front with her. They'd sometimes practice in your house so you pretty much know the step for the choreography. Bada had you replace her for her part that had you blushing though you didn't mind since you often subbed for her during practices. It just shows your dynamic with Bada and team Bebe is living for that. They're even surprised that you're not pursuing dancing since youre equally as good as Bada but you just shrugged it off. You're just dancing because it's fun. Competition is just a headache and you would often joke that no one will be cooking for them if you decide to join.
Sowoen signalled everyone to stand in their places before she ran to hers as the camera began recording. You danced with team Bebe, laughing and just having fun with all of them. You did miss goofing around with the girls. After recording, you handed them the meals you cooked for them and their favorite drinks to which they accepted with huge smiles on their faces. Lusher suggested doing a quick instagram live since the video with you in it is blowing up, so many people questioning who you are and why you are so close to team Bebe, especially Bada. Minah sets up the phone for instagram live and they all wave at the camera, greeting the fans and apologizing if the fans found it weird that they're holding a live show while they're eating their lunch.
"Who's Y/N and why is she close to team Bebe?" Kyma reads a comment before looking at you. You shrugged before looking at team Bebe then Bada, who's waiting for you to answer the question.
"So I'm team Bebe's cook. As you saw from the video, I was just bringing food for them and they dragged me to dance for them." you answered playfully that earned a laugh from the girls. It was one of your unofficial titles though. You always provide them meals especially when they're busy rehearsing dances.
"That's one of her unofficial titles!" Cheche chimes in and you shake your head in pure amusement. It's always pure chaos when you're around them but you love it. You're having fun and you're one of their favorite stress relievers, as said by them.
"Kidding aside, I'm actually Bada's girlfriend and kind of helped form team Bebe. By help, I lured them in with food." you answered though adding a little joke at the end since you really couldn't take things seriously as you saw their reactions from your peripheral vision. They all had those shocked faces, especially Bada who nearly choked on her food when you openly told the public that you're her girlfriend. She's not against it, she was just very surprised since she thought that you weren't ready to give you and her another chance but here you are, telling the whole world you're in a relationship.
"Yes! Our mom and dad are finally back together!" team Bebe cheered happily, hugging you and Bada that made you laugh. You looked at Bada and smiled to which she returned with a kiss on your lips. Everyone was cheering, the whole instagram live going into chaos as Bada kissed you without hesitation.
Sowoen quickly ended the live so you two can have a moment without the whole world knowing. It's just you, Bada and team Bebe now. Bada held you in her arms, tears falling freely as she was way too happy. She finally got you back after everything.
"Thank you.. Thank you for giving us a chance again.. You don't know how happy I am right now." Bada sobbed and you rubbed her back to calm her down. Your own heart could burst from happiness right now.
"I'll admit that I'm still scared but I wouldn't deny myself happiness that I only feel with you. I love you so much, Bada.." you said truthfully and Bada nodded her head, acknowledging your fears. She knew it wasn't easy for you to do this so she's gonna make sure she's not gonna fuck up this second chance that you gave her.
"I won't be able to promise that everything will be without a problem because that's just impossible. What I can promise is to do my very best to make you happy and to be the best partner I could ever be for you." Bada's words made butterflies in your stomach flutter. By looking in her eyes, you know that she'll be sure to keep her words this time.
You and Bada decided to set your relationship in public. She didn't want to keep you a secret, she's very proud of you and could care less if she loses projects or sponsorships. You're far more valuable than that. She's still consistent with her efforts even after you get back together, always making sure that she's also got time for you, unwilling to make the same mistakes she did that pushed you away.
"Bada, you can go get some rest. It's okay." you told her once when she got a day off. Instead of resting, she was helping you around the house and even planned on taking you out on a date later that afternoon. Bada pouted and just placed kisses all over your face that got you giggling.
"Rest day means I'm taking you out on dates, making sure I get to spend a lot of time with you because my baby deserves that and more." she reasons out and you just playfully rolled your eyes at her. Bada is really committed to the promise she gave you and you're happy about that. She's completely changed as a person and as a partner. She may not be able to take back all the things said and done before but she's doing everything she can to make it up to you and slowly take away the fear that she knows that still lingers at the back of your mind.
"You're so adorable, you know that? But how about this.. We cuddle all morning then we order lunch, maybe watch a movie before we get ready for the date you planned? So you can rest as well. Lee Bada, you're sweet but I don't want you to get sick for not resting well." you suggested and Bada couldn't help but grin and nod like a kid who's being offered a trip to an amusement park.
"Sounds like a really good plan to me. Cuddles with you are always the best rest I get." she says before picking you up like a sack before carrying you to the bedroom so she can get all the cuddles she wants.

Can I just say I love the shipping scene in HLVRAI? Like, I've never been in a fandom where it's been this CHILL before. Each ship has appeal and could actually work (unless you're intentionally being weird about it, but I haven't really encountered those people, this is personal experience here), and it's just so-!
Frenrey is wonderful because they're both silly, if those two met under different circumstances you KNOW they'd be friends, and it can be about forgiveness and healing. I love that.
Freelatta is great because Tommy and Gordon always have each others' backs, and those two will see each other through thick and thin.
Sodashipping is delightful because Darnold and Tommy just click SO WELL, they have a lot of common interests outside of soda, and you guys who give Darnold a dog as well as so correct about that omg.
Darzen is really fun because these two have never once interacted in canon but so easily could have. Like Forzen probably had to go through that area to progress as well, what hijinx would they get into?
I don't see Gordon and Forzen being shipped just the two of them often (shoutout to hlvrv, that was unexpected but really fun), but that's another instance I could also see. They're polycule a lot of the time, which hell yeah.
Tomrey is awesome because of the pre-established friendship between Benrey and Tommy, how even down to the final wire Benrey didn't really want to hurt Tommy. Outside of shipping their relationship is just wonderful.
Darnrey is also fun in that regard. Gamer partners.
Benzon as well. This one really depends on your interpretation of canon but it's always fun when it pops up again. The history between those two has so much potential. I don't personally ship this one but it's always fun to explore.
Another I don't have the name for but Darnold and Gordon. Orang. And just the unconditional support from Darnold- wonderful.
Frenreylatta is just delightful. Like you take all the best parts of frenrey, tomrey, and freelatta and put them in a blender and you get pure wholesomeness. I fucking love this one. Absolute winner. And I also really love how usually depictions of this one don't hide the part parts, either, but it's still a generally more supportive relationship overall. Five stars.
Frenreylattarnold is also just *chef's kiss*. Darnold just brings a vibe to the group they don't otherwise have. It simultaneously makes it more chill and more chaotic.
Again I don't know the name, but add Forzen into the mix and you have a really fun, complex dynamic of people who just love each other. I'm so fucking here for it.
I know I'm missing some but AOUGH
I can't not talk about my favorite ship here, though. Boomer sweep. Boomer wins. Every time boomer pops up on my feed I get so fucking happy. Chaos grandpas who fucking love and support each other SO unconditionally. They work through their trauma together while committing crimes. The stark contrasts between them also aid wonderfully to their dynamic, like how Coomer doesn't like video games while Bubby is a speedrunner. They each have their own lives but they want to spend them together. NO I'M NORMAL DID YOU KNOW THAT I SWEAR I'M NORMAL-
Gubby's a fun one, too, and from my understanding that one's a rarepair. But yeah, putting Bubby's firey personality next to Gman's calm and collected one creates a lot of fun opportunities, and helps explore the differences between Half Life and HLVRAI Gman in more in-depth ways. It's always fun when it pops up again, I love it. (Shoutout to catloki for this one.)
I don't member the ship name but adding Coomer in there is also really fun. Chaos grandpas take over the world together <3
I haven't seen Coomer and Gman being shipped individually before but I could also see that one. Coomer would be able to simultaneously meet Gman where he's at while also encouraging him to step outside his comfort zone, and also probably being a terrible influence on him gGFDHSJAKGF.
All this to say I'm not really a shipper. These guys could be just friends and I'd be okay with that, which I guess lends itself to the RTVS crew and how well they all stepped into character. Everyone just has dynamics with each other, that come out naturally, and makes it easy for us to really see where each relationship could go.
I just fucking love this fandom.

Bus stop part 7
Adam Faulkner-Stanheight x F!reader
Check masterlist for m!reader version! (If it's not up, send me an ask to remind me!! I always forget to post them lmao)
Warnings: none, just pure fluff
Summary: just a little glimpse into life living with Adam
Tumblr media
Y/n and Adam had been living together for about a month now, and despite the stress of the move, life couldn't be better. The pair now resided in a cosy apartment in a clean, safe, and friendly part of the city. The rent was a little higher than their old places, but with rent being split between the two of them, it was manageable. The walls were covered in an array of posters, artwork (some thrifted, some painted by Adam), and of course, plenty of framed photographs that Adam had taken. While putting up these pictures Adam had remarked over and over again that this made it feel like a "real home." In his childhood home, family portraits were pretty much unheard of, so it was a non negotiable that a picture of Adam, y/n and their new family member- a black cat named Frank- took pride of place on the small mantle in the living room.
Days in this new home would often start with the smell of coffee and toast, but on weekends y/n would sometimes spoil Adam with pancakes and crispy bacon drenched in syrup. This was the case on a particular lazy Saturday morning.
"Adammmmm" y/n whispered from the doorway to the bedroom.
The sleeping Adam responded with a grunt, and a mumbled "five more minutes," before pulling the covers over his head"
"Fine, I guess I'll just have to give all your pancakes to Frank"
That got his attention.
As if he were a sleeper cell, only activated by the word "pancakes" Adam shot out of bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
He looked ever so cute in black boxers and a baggy band tshirt, his hair elegantly tousled and his sharp nose twitching at the smell of breakfast.
"Come on, sweetpea," y/n smiled lovingly, holding out a hand for him to take.
Adam took more than a hand, opting instead to hug y/n's waist and lean his tired head on her shoulder.
"You are literally my dream woman" he mumbled, and y/n could hear the smile in his voice.
"If I'd known pancakes were gonna illicit a response like that, I would have made them the first day I met you" y/n chuckled, hugging Adam back and kissing his cheek.
The pair made their way to the beat up sofa in the front room. It was the same one from Adam's old apartment, the same one they'd shared their first kiss on. It was falling apart and needed patching up on a regular basis, but it was too special to throw out. Curled up on the sofa, drinking hot coffee and inhaling their pancakes at lightning speed, Adam and y/n (and Frank the cat) channel surfed all morning. It was a perfectly uneventful day, and after all the chaos that Adam had been through, it was moments like this, the beauty and joy in pure monotony, that just solidified to him how perfect life could really be.
A/n sorry this took so long! I sorta lost my creative spark over the last few weeks due to some mental health issues, but I'm starting to feel like myself again, so hopefully more fics will be out soon! I've got a bunch in the drafts that I've been working on :^)) I know this was short but I hope you enjoyed!

Random thoughts on the D&D movie in no particular order:
I loved the jokes. All of them. All the stupid jokes. I was their target audience and they succeeded at making me cackle at dumb shit while my partner's soul left his body
The landscape shots were breathtaking and honestly made me tear up at the beauty in places. In the theater, I remember thinking, "Yeah, FUCK yeah, these guys understood the assignment!" Nine out of ten times, I think fantasy should be animated, because if you don't pour millions into the budget, the action looks like crummy LARPers wearing silly costumes in the woods. This movie understood that if you're doing live action fantasy, you owe your audience some damn beautiful landscape shots and damn did they deliver on some beautiful landscape shots.
(cut for spoilers)
I sincerely appreciated Holga and her husband being divorced but still amicable. I'm so tired of the trope of exes being evil or awful. They just seemed like two adults who wanted to love each other but the circumstances of being together doomed them from the start. It was played for laughs but it was just a moment I genuinely enjoyed as divorcee. I also loved her ex's new wife looking exactly like her, both for the gag, and for what it said about both of them being each other's type even if it didn't work out.
I also cackled like a hyena at Holga's halfling fetish while also finding it rather sweet and enjoyed imagining all the reasons why she might have that preference lol
As a basic Drizzt Do'Urden loving bitch, I squeed when I saw Icewind Dale on the map. Then I had a moment between that and the Underdark of wondering, "Am I gonna see him? Even in the distance? Am I going to see my first love, Drizzt Do'Urden??"
And then I realized: the Paladin. The Paladin is Drizzt. Only good person who came out of a nation destroyed by evil. Too good for this world, too pure, to the point of being sanctimonious but is also a hottie. Xenk is Drizzt.
Oh, I also squeed when I saw the Underdark.
I appreciated how knowledge of D&D improved certain story beats (like the gelatinous cube or the displacer beast) but wasn't required to enjoy the plot. That's how references should be done.
The most agonizingly cringe moment for me was when Holga was dying. Just. I appreciated the beat. It couldn't go any other way. They delivered on their set up with the tablet, the only question was ever, "Who besides his wife is going to get saved with it?" And it made perfect sense who it was. I'm glad they didn't try to pull a fast one. But the scene was like... 10 seconds too long of her dying for me to not roll my eyes. We know you're going to use the tablet on her, dipshit, please keep this moving.
BUT I think the reason they did it was to land a sincere moment with the daughter, and I appreciated that. I think the scene could have been improved by Holga being like, "Don't you fucking dare use that tablet on me!" and then smacking him when he did it anyway and then he'd have to explain that he set out to save his daughter's mother, not his wife, who has passed on, etc etc. but I'm not sure that would have been much better so maybe the drawn-out opera death scene and the sincerity was better in the end idk.
I KINDA wanted to see the actors as the players playing D&D BUT I know why they didn't and it was a wise choice, it undermines the drama too much to say it doesn't matter because it's a game. Maybe if instead they'd should the characters playing D&D in universe as normal humans? Idk
I thought there'd be more Xenk? I thought he'd be in the arena with them? A little bummed but I also loved his GM NPC energy.
The combat and camera work was great! Genuinely enjoyable and well made, I appreciated the artistry that went into it.
Loved the bardic distraction scene for truly capturing the chaos of a D&D party's attempt at breaking and entering
Loved the portals bit for truly capturing the strategy and planning that can go into a functioning D&D campaign's clever heist, even if I'm sure it would have taken 5 sessions to plot out IRL
Honestly, it was just a fun, solid film! It's been a while since I've seen such a fun, solid film! I would buy it and put it on in the background to just enjoy and not angst over it! It was worth the price of admission, it was faithful to the spirit of D&D instead of sneering at it the way the early 2000s one did, and I had a good time! It wasn't the highest of art but it would have been weird if it had been! I liked it a lot!

My take on Amaya and Magnifico as a Villain Couple:
Because why did they not get to be the villain power couple in this??????
I can totally see Amaya as a power hungry and ambitious woman that wants status and prestige more than anything else, and uses manipulation as her main tactic.
Or for Magnifico, he could either always have been self-centered, or every wish he denies gets absorbed by him, thus making all those wishes made with bad faith or malevolent emotions part of him, and over time turning him into a narcissist. That would work as both a metaphor for how power changes a persona and an interesting element to how the frick his powers work, because what was that???
And personally, I think he should have had the power to see people's intentions, a bit like colors or a feeling or whatever, with which he could know if someone wished for a knife to cook in the kitchen or if they were planning murder. Because that's a massive flaw I think. Though the canon orbs could work too, but I just think that it would be cooler.
And Magnifico would be clear that wishes can be dangerous and as such has iron rules when it comes to wish granting. Like that he will never do anything involving life and death for example. You wish for a kitty? Go to the local animal shelter. You want to resurrect your dead wife? Forget about that. You want a fire breathing dragon? That's a safety hazard, go home and become a firefighter. It would make so much sense.
And Asha could be wrong. You know, a protagonist who believes that they are right but actually aren't? I know, revolutionary. In her quest to make sure everyone gets their wish granted, she would accidentally cause both wonders and chaos, putting the people into a frenzy. Like in the film, they would start questioning Magnifico, who would then try to bring back stability to his kingdom. And then 'this is the thanks I get' would get to be an actual villain song!!!! He sacrifices so much time for his people, he brings balance and peace, makes sure that everyone is provided for and yet the moment something isn't perfect, they question him. Which would be where either his ego, or the negative emotions he's absorbed from the wishes come into play. He needs to get rid of this disturbance, so that things get back to normal. But it fails and people get agitated and he slowly loses his cool, becoming more and more aggressive with his approach, until it can't be justified anymore and is now purely about revenge. He's now a full villain. His background isn't, but his actions are. Now, Amaya sees a threat and she tries to get rid of Asha through manipulation. They are a duo, one working as her enemy, the other pretending to be her ally. And it would be glorious!!!! Because they'd be a freaking VILLAIN COUPLE!!!! Do you know how awesome that concept is!!!!!!!!! And I've been deprived of it!!!!!
How Magnifico and Amaya got together is a mystery in the film (except if I just never heard of it) and I think that would be fascinating if they were villains.
For their Villain Backstory, this is what my brain came up with:
When they were young adults, and Magnifico came into power, he spent hours every day harnessing wishes, deciding what to grant and what not to, and defending his decisions to the people who were still coming to terms with this new change. Wish granting was something new and coveted, but also something looked at with sceptism. One day, after the "wishing hours", a young woman come to him. Magnifico told her that the time for wishes was over and to come back the next day, but she wasn't deterred.
She told him that she was here for a wish not meant to be heard by others. He answered that he wasn't interested in such a thing, and that people should witness whatever he decides to grant to others, so that they too could judge his decisions. Seeing that he would not yield, she introduced herself as Amaya and that her wish was to marry him. Surprised, he looked at her, but shook his head and told her that he refuses. She told him that it could be true love, he told her that there was no love.
Amaya demanded to know what it was if not love, to which he answered; Greed. Ambition and desire for power was what pushed her to him like that. Unhappy, she agreed, but pushed on. As the king of Rosas, a country so new and so unstable, he did not have the strength and endurance to leader them in the long-run. One day he would collapse under the weight of the wishes and this country would fall with him. Magnifico tries to disagree, but she interrupts that if there was someone else, a partner who would talk to the people and stand by his side when he made the necessary decisions, then he would have the support needed to move on.
Conflicted and weary, he states that she wants the power of his eyes. Amaya confirms. She wants the power to see into people's heart and feel their intentions, which in turn is a burden to him, who has to feel them and yet make rational decisions over whether to grant their wish or not. More than that, she adds, is that whenever he has to reject a wish, he absorbs it and is saddled with the weight of its emotions. It's true, every wish he reveals and cannot grant becomes part of him, and a weight he has to carry. But the young woman is also a risk; she has very high ambitions. If Magnifico were to make her queen, Rosas would find itself with a leader who looks out for herself first. Seeing his indecision, Amaya says that in exchange for the title of queen, she will grant him a wish too. That surprises Magnifico, people don't grant him wishes. She tells him that she would learn to love him.
While he is flabbergasted, she explains that she will always see for herself first, that is why he is so uneasy around her, but when she loves him, she will look out for him as a priority too. And when he is a priority, so will all of Rosas be, because without Magnifico, there will be no Rosas. With this deal in front of him, where he gives Amaya the power to leader a country and gets what is needed to keep it together, Magnifico accepts. And with their wedding, Amaya is granted the title of queen and the sight to see people's intentions.
Is this flawless? Absolutely not, but I'd honestly give anything for them to have been a villain couple, where Amaya resorts to emotional manipulation as easily as breathing and Magnifico actually has good points.

That bunny pic and the lipstick one... Please Shels, work your magic
Yes yes of course I can. Since the one is literally a bunny pick, I have to discuss this in poly!piarles, I have no other choice I simply MUST.
My immediate thought with the combination of those two pictures is.... what if you guys went public with your relationship? I think that when Charles and Pierre know it's their last season in F1 (and they'd have the same last season, they'd never ever race without the other), they would want to reveal the relationship.
Just for the last 4 or 5 races. They want to experience being an out couple, the three of you allowed to be who you are. And it wouldn't mean anything for their careers because after that their careers are over anyway, they can just enjoy it.
So that's what brings about both these pictures.
Of course everyone freaks out when the news breaks, and then Pierre decides to kiss Charles right in front of all the cameras as they arrive at the circuit which makes the internet explode. And then the next day you three arrive together, all holding hands with Charles in the middle and you make a show of kissing them both before going with Charles to Ferrari and watching quali from that garage.
It's pure chaos those last four races and all three of you are so so happy. Pierre is shamelessly possessive, keeping an arm around Charles and you at all times, kissing you both in front of cameras, slapping charles's ass in the middle of the media pen.
Charles is just as happy, though a little less dirty about it. He holds your hand or pierre's hand whenever he can, asks you to sit in his garage because he's always wanted to know what it would feel like to have his mommy in his garage.
You leave that lipstick mark on Charles the second weekend, and he refuses to wipe it off until he has to put the balaclava on.
Charles posts that picture of him in the bunny on instagram with the caption "I'm a special bunny" and you and Pierre both rely with red hearts.

I have this fic idea in the works - where basically when Sas defects Konoha, Sakura & Naruto come with him, essentially they have a fight which ends in Sas breaking down that he doesn't wanna lose more people, and Sakura & Naruto convincing him that they should all stick together, they're each others family
Finally they convince him, part of their argument though is not to go to Orochi, and instead go elsewhere - Sakura suggests Tsunade, cuz obvs she's gnna know about the legend of the Sannin
An that leads to Tsuna meeting these three kids who run away and join her on her travels, totally becomes that meme of "I've only had Team 7 for a day, but if anything happened to them, I'd kill everyone & then myself" so she's know like a mum of 3 babies, and one teen (Shizune, who's now Team sevens big sib)
Shizune trains Sasuke in poisons & the lil bit of Genjutsu she knows (Making that up but don’t care) Tsuna teaching Sakura & Naruto healing & all three of them Taijutsu
They may run off to Uzu, cuz of Naruto & Tsuna having heritage there - may even make Sakura part Uzumaki or decended from a merchant clan there cuz I can!
Kashi tracks them down once, realises that the kids are right & defects with them – gets a smack up the head by Tsuna for bein a lil sexist & then realises his errors n gets better
Shizune & Kashi are gnna fight like sibs and be besties - I’m not elaborating
May incorporate angst or may just make it happy lil family times idk yet
This is inspired by a fic that's kinda similar, but it's Rin & Kashi that run off to find Tsuna and ask for help, so my idea is a tad different - but your Sannin swaps are just very very inspiring to me also, so wanted to let you know of my idea, and kinda get your opinion if you'd like to offer one of course!
I've already started writing it, but it's the motivation which has left me for right now ahah
Apologies for such a long ask!
Do it!!! I can almost picture them discussing their options in that very team 7 manner, pure chaos, lot's of yelling and 'shut up Naruto!'s, except is something as serious as defecting from Kohona and finding a new legendary master.
Would love to know how they'd find their way back to Uzushio! And Kakashi going after his kids! And him and Shizune bonding! AND big sis Shizune 😖✨️
Also to see what other versions of single sannin trained team 7 would end up like 👀

Hello. It's been awhile since you heard from me but I enjoyed reading your works. I was wondering if you ever read Sakamoto Days. This ask is related to one of the chapters. Can you write about the father trio and Snuffy going to the mall to buy their adoptive reader a gift that they want for so long and it came out but limited. The four of them need to think of a plan to get that gift for the reader and will have to fight off against parents and grandparents who are also getting that gift. It will be like going to war on a Black Friday. Sorry if this might be complicated. Feel free to ignore this request.
Omg haven't heard from you in so long 😭 Hello!! I haven't read Sakamoto Days but this scenario sounds very fun!! I'm putting this into the NEL assistant series because in the father figure series they'd be separately and you requested them together soooo <3 (I'm still tagging people from the father figure taglist tho)
Requests open! - NEL assistant masterlist
Tags: gn!reader, reader's presents are limited edition Sanrio plushies because I love Sanrio, thanks to @mikeophone16 for giving me one of the ideas for Lavinho!!, does this count as a crackfic?
-your birthday is coming up, and the four of them have decided separately that they want to get you one of the new limited edition Sanrio plushies. Coincidentally, they met in front of the store before it opened
-realizing they all had the same idea, they come up with a new plan together. They decide they're not only going to get you a plushie of your favourite character, but instead, they want to get all of the plushies released in this series
-they already know it's gonna be hell to actually get all of the plushies because people are already waiting to get into the store although it's an hour before opening time
-their new plan is that each of them will get two plushies. Noa will get Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll, Chris will get MyMelody and Kuromi, Lavinho will get Pompompurin and Pochacco and Snuffy will get Batz-Maru and Keroppi (A/N: If your favourite character isn't in this, replace any character with your fav!)
-there are so many other people trying to get into the store right as it opens, there's no way the coaches can get in first so each of them is trying to come up with a strategy on how they can get to the plushies quickly
-sure, all four of them can run much faster than the average person, but if there's a crowd even that won't help them much
-as soon as the store opens, it's just pure chaos and they forget about their plans. They try to get to the plushie section as quickly as possible
-Chris gets stopped midway by fans and starts taking photos with them. Then more and more fans approach him and ask for photos, and he totally forgets about the plushies
-after like 10 minutes he suddenly remembers he's actually on a mission so in the middle of a photo he runs away and tries to get to the plushie section as quick as possible
-Lavinho thinks he figured out a way to get to the plushie section quicker, but then he ends up at the opposite side of the store and has to walk all the way back
-then he sees one of those security worker uniforms somewhere and he gets a silly idea and puts it on to pretend he works there so he can get to the plushies quicker
-Snuffy sees a child who lost their parents so he helps the kid get back to them before he continues his task to get the plushies
-but then Snuffy gets stuck in a conversation with the child's parents because they're super chatty and don't stop thanking him for getting their child back. Then they continue talking and talking and Snuffy can't get away because he doesn't want to seem impolite
-Noa was literally the only one who didn't get stopped in any way so when the others arrive at the plushie section he already got all of them. Not only the ones he was supposed to get, but he also got all eight plushies

sometimes when you're brainrotting two things, the only way to cope is to smush those things together. therefore: how i think bells hells would do at Blood On The Clocktower! (or social deduction games in general.) some of this is mechanical some of it is textual some of it is Just Vibes
Orym: Not the best at lying, but very good at figuring out when someone else is. Tends to hold of on claiming for a while unless he's like a top 4. Probably follows Fearne and/or Ashton around too much, regardless of their characters/alignments. If he's ever evil with one of them he gets very excited to the point that it's almost a tell. Orym is the guy who knows exactly who everyone has been talking to, he is watching EVERYONE in his peripheral vision.
Imogen: Deception queen, nobody clocks when she's lying, but she's not the best at coming up with strategic bluffs. Initially found playing evil Very Stressful, but i think she'd come around to it. DEFINITELY talks with Laudna first every single game.
Chetney: on the fucking case. this man is a genius at this game; if he's evil, nobody can tell bc he always acts this weird, it's no different, and if he's good, he solves the game when evil least expects it. not good at lying but gets by via the power of Lying Always For Shits And Giggles (And Also Tactics)
Ashton: mister -2 to charisma cannot lie for shit. they love the game anyways, but if he's the imp he's star passing pretty much immediately (orym is going to catch him if he doesn't lmao). enjoys interrogating ppl and trying to figure out their characters. probably downplays their own usefulness to the good team but often provides big pieces of the puzzle.
Laudna: absolutely loving it. the storyteller perchance? (altho i could see orym or ash getting in on it too? I May Be Projecting.) i think laudna gets very excited to be on the evil team (maybe too obviously excited), but overall is just having a good time, solving the mystery or being the demon. yeah the more i think about it the more i think she'd really like storytelling. i mean i wore my laudna dress the first time i hosted a clocktower party the vibes are right
FCG: probably one of those people who feels bad about lying in lying games lmao. i think they'd get really into it eventually though. i don't think he'd be good at bluffing while evil, but i think he'd have a really fun time as good and get really into solving it and figuring out wtf is going on.
Fearne: Pure Chaos. you can never tell if she's evil because she is always unpredictable. will commit to the bit always. will offer you the mez word as a good player. has turned several people evil bc they thought she was joking about the mez word and she was Not. she's def not BAD at the game, she's observant and she's good at bluffing, but she is An Experience, and i say that with the most love. very fun to play with i think.
Dorian: probably a little overwhelmed by the complexity (of clocktower specifically). he is, in the words of fearne, "a very bad liar". enjoys it nonetheless, but he is not the clocktower champ by any means (again, said with so much love). still, he's a good sport about it and he's having a good time, and that's what matters! i could def see him storytelling as well. (BONUS, if he brings dariax: he follows dorian around and asks him questions about how the game works constantly. catches ppl off guard w good bluffs sometimes but only when he lucks into good strats or a teammate tells him what to bluff as.)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
So it's canon that Fury and Death shared a room which means the Horsemen probably all lived in the same house or wherever the Charred Council stored them. How do you think an average day was with the Four living together?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!!!
Oh boy, this is a great question. I honestly just imagine pure, utter chaos. Especially with Fury and Strife under the same roof; playing DS3 was fun in the sense that you saw just how reckless and angry Fury was. And that's in the era of the humans post apocalypse, so I imagine a younger Fury under the council, or younger in horsemen terms, would be even more scary😂
Poor Death is like an over-worked single father. I'd imagine at the very beginning of the whole council ordeal, he'd try to keep to himself and see if his siblings would sort themselves out.
No dice. The poor guy just wants to read a book and enjoy a cup of tea. The curse of the oldest sibling.
We all know Strife would be a damn nuisance (and I say this with all the love in the world because I lOVE Strife) but that nephilim would literally cause chaos at every turn. He's bored? Time to poke the War Bear. Maybe piss Fury off with a million questions. Death I think would have to chase Strife down in many instances where he decided 'you know what? I'm exploring whether the council says it's okay or not'. Just lots of shenanigans.
Now, I think War is one of the most interesting siblings to think about. He ISS my favorite...but that's beside the point 😂 I just think he's interesting. I think maybe in the younger years of the council's enforcement, he'd have lots of questions. But at the same time, he's a strict rule follower. Just look at his actions during the genesis game. In a way, he has Death's responsibility. He just also has that youngest sibling mindset of the group; I think he'd make a lot of mistakes in his younger years and spend lots of time beating himself up for it, the poor guy. He'd never admit it, but thinks the world of his older siblings.
Now. Fury. Oh lord. I imagine many, MANY instances of storming out on the group. Again, another instance where Death would have to reel his sibling in. The girl holds a grudge. ALWAYS.
And then, amidst all the chaotic living...I think the siblings would occasionally find time to co-exist together in peace. Perhaps it wouldn't last long, but I firmly believe they have a strong sense of family in them somewhere, even if they'd never admit it. Those moments together are pretty nice.
...
And then it'd all go to chaos again! haha
Feel free to add your opinions! I'm curious what you all think as well

..............................................................
March 1996 - Colorado
“You’re gonna be late if you stick around any longer.”
“Don’t worry about that, honey. I’ll run if I have to, just give me a few more minutes with you.” He doesn’t get nervous, she knows, not about these things. He gets charming, all slanted smiles and soft touches, sneaking kisses as he rocks in the soles of his boots, plane ticket tucked between index and middle finger.
But she gets nervous. Even when they do these things together, let alone now with her staying behind and sending him off. Like watching her heart slip from her ribcage and tiptoe out onto a highwire with no net. With no net. So she gets nervous, and she tries to hide it from him, though she can feel her smile starting to slip the longer she stands here in the airport, throngs of people passing by in cloistered chaos.
“Did Robin make it out there alright?”
“Yeah, got a fax from her this morning, she’s already at basecamp getting stuff set up with the local guides. Hey, you’re doing it again.”
“Doing what?”
“You’ve got that look.”
“What look?”
“Jo.”
“Steve.” Her arms crossed over her chest, and his hands curling over her forearms, leaning in, and in, and in, until his forehead is pressed against hers and she can no longer see the arrivals board, the people rushing by with suitcases and backpacks. Just him, and his smile that is everything, long hair like a curtain around them. She takes two deep breaths, smelling him, the badger balm he rubs into his hands and good clean soap from the shower he took that morning. And she wills herself to hold onto that scent, to tuck it somewhere safe in her mind, and this too, the soft warble of his voice when he asks her can I get one more kiss, please? Never saying no to that, a sweet simple one, followed by another with a little more want, little more ache behind it. He’ll have a beard the next time she sees him, she knows, but for now there’s just the slightest scratch of stubble when she presses her lips against his.
“Please don’t worry too much about me.” And that makes her laugh, though it tightens and changes into something bordering on a sob, a high, clipped sound, shake of her head, her forehead still against his, and she has to, she has to take the step back, create that space, has to let go for now. He doesn’t abide by that, hands curling around her biceps, come back, come back, one more minute. He’s wearing his wedding ring on a chain around his neck, too many close calls losing it in the snow, in pulling off a mitten, in the chaos of what he does, what they do. She hooks her finger through it and pulls, a young part of her wishing that’d be enough magic to make him stay.
“I don’t care what time it is there or here, you call me when you get to Kathmandu, and to Lukla, and to base, okay?”
“Of course I will, and you have the fax number. Gonna send me the scans?” His hand coming to rest over the slight swell of her stomach, still new, the small, hard curve of it, but there, but there. She feels like she might be sick, though she’s not sure why, not sure if it’s the pregnancy, or something else.
“Yeah, baby, I’ll send them over. But seriously, you better go.” They both sigh, both say love to each other, quiet and close, and then it’s catch and release, him walking toward security, beautiful boy, beautiful world of a person in his corduroy pants rolled at the ankles and a new fleece that she stitched a stupidly sweet heart into the tag of, a little thread of luck, and his pack that he prides himself on keeping so light. She snuck a few extra clif bars into one of the side pockets, a different kind of nesting, preparing for a departure instead of an arrival. He looks over his shoulder at her one more time, wire rimmed glasses glinting, one more smile, and then he’s gone in the push and pull of the crowd.
She knows the trip he’s about to take well, after all, she has done it five times herself. This will be his sixth. He’ll spend a night and a day in Kathmandu, gathering up the group of people who have enough money to pay him to be their guide. Eddie will be there too, his usual self, aviators and absurdly underdressed, and if there’s a woman in this season’s group, she'll swoon and yes, recognize him from the cover of Outside Magazine, climbing’s resident bad boy, according to the journalist that wrote the piece. They’ll be brilliant together, Steve and Eddie, capable, holding court over a shared dinner before their flight to Lukla the next morning, the group listening in quiet reverence as Steve talks about the death zone, and Eddie’s favorite line, when we hit 26 thou, we will literally be dying, so remember how much you paid to be here.
He calls her that night, a day ahead now, catches her mid-afternoon and tells her that he has a good feeling about this group. No bullshitters, no brass either as far as I can tell. Brass, the big talkers, usually Americans that have decided this trip, this thing, is their self-given right. Brass, usually the first to turn around. She tells him that the crib was delivered, and he asks her if she’ll wait to put it together, he’d like to help when he gets back. Of course, she says, of course she’ll wait for him.
A week and a half goes by before she hears from him again. She doesn’t know whether to be pissed or utterly paralyzed with fear. Robin faxes her, tells her he’s bringing the group to base, and that he asked her to tell her he’s sorry he didn’t call. And later, when the phone rings in the middle of the night, the petty part of her briefly considers letting it go to voicemail. She picks up and the first thing he offers her is an apology.
“I couldn’t find a fucking phone where we were staying.”
“I didn’t know what was happening, Steve, I can’t– you promised me.” The sentence fizzles out, she feels small saying it. What did he promise her? What can be promised in an environment, in a place that stands upon uncertainty? But still, he promised her a few things before he left, promised communication, promised coming home, and promised never doing it again, shutting down the outfit, no more of this. And she’s not sure he knew what it meant to make those promises, ones that can be so easily broken.
“It’s not gonna happen again, Josie, I promise. We made it to base, by the way, all good, all safe.” As if on cue, she hears Robin first, hey, Jo! Followed by Eddie’s not the same without you, Joey! Tinny voices made small by all the distance, and she realizes that while part of her misses the place, the process of it all, it’s the people she aches for, good people, good friends, a little crazy, but in the same way she is, and the same way Steve is. But he doesn’t seem too interested in sharing her with them, and she can’t blame him when every minute of this phone call costs twenty-five dollars.
“I’m glad you made it, how does it look this year?”
“Crowded, I swear there’s more outfits every year. It’s gonna be a cluster summiting with all these bodies.”
“Hmm, you’re always good at getting the jump though.”
“I try. How– how are you feeling? Doctor next Friday, right?”
“My Friday, your Saturday, yeah. We’re doing alright, they’ve been kicking actually.”
“Really?” Pure wonder crackling over the phone, his voice lifting and breathless, making tight heat curl up in her throat, behind her eyes. Of course, she wishes he were here, and of course, she thinks of the stories every year of wives leaving their husbands because they won’t stop chasing mountains.
When she told her friends, her family, that he was still heading out to lead another group, they had looked horrified at the idea. But she also knows it’s a particular situation they’re in. Unplanned, unexpected, but decidedly wanted, by the time they found out she was pregnant, payments had already been made, plane tickets booked, nonrefundable. Clients that know how to throw all of their weight around, very important people with very important wallets giving him their very important money to take them on this very important trip. And so they had to decide some things. Decided that two months out of nine wasn’t all that bad, that five successes couldn’t have just been luck, and that a sixth couldn’t be asking too much more. Thinking these things is different than feeling them, she is now realizing, listening to his voice get caught in static and wind as he tells her how much he loves her and that he’ll talk to her again soon, get some sleep, honey, I love you.
Yes, different to think about it, plan for it, than to feel it. The bedroom is dark, perfectly silent, perfectly still. She begins to cry with the catch of the phone in the receiver.
March, 1990 - base camp
“Who’s that?”
“Who?”
“That chick with Art’s group.”
“Don’t point, Steven, we’re all friends here. And that’s Jo Taylor, I met her at the airport, real nice, real cool. Also, requisite reminder that fucking at altitude is contraindicated.”
“Thanks, Rob, yeah, thank you for that reminder.” Robin’s already off as he grumbles, already introducing herself to other strangers weaving in between brightly colored tents and packs. It’s not lost on him that she and Jo are the only two women at base camp, and he’s having a hard time not staring at this woman he’s never met before. Close-cropped hair and flickering hands, sharp, and she seems to have no trouble holding court with her crew, checking over gear, tanks of oxygen, things he should be doing right now, though he’s still stuck staring at her.
Up here, it’s somehow both bitingly cold and quick to heat with the sun bouncing and bending over the snow, prayer flags pulled taut on lines in the thin air. Everyone has stripped down to base layers, faces whipped raw by the wind, Eddie walking around in a bright orange pair of Patagonia baggies and little else, steaming thermos in hand. And this girl, woman, person, Jo, in a Talking Heads t-shirt and an unzipped shell and leggings, and even with her reflective sunglasses on he can tell the exact moment when she catches him staring at her, her head tilting to the side, slight pull of her brow. He’s walking toward her, crunching over rocks and snow before he can think too hard about how she doesn’t really look interested in making friends with him.
“Hey, I don’t think we’ve met.” He gives her his name with a hand extended, and she takes it, if not a bit stiff, skeptical, offering him her name in return with her hip popped to the side. He watches his own nervous smile in the reflection of her sunglasses.
“You’re here with Art’s team, right?”
“I am, yeah. And you’re here with Robin?”
“And Ed, he’s, well, you’ve probably met him.”
“Oh yeah, we all know Munson. No oxygen on Mont Blanc is pretty impressive, or maybe stupid.”
“I’d say both.” Her smile glints in the sun, a little stunner of a thing and he knows he’d like to see it again.
“Both is probably accurate. I knew who you were too, by the way, you didn’t have to introduce yourself like that.”
“You did?”
“Of course, men’s speed record for El Cap. That’s just impressive if you ask me.”
“Men’s? As opposed to–”
“Women’s.”
“I didn’t know there was a women’s speed record for El Cap.” Her smile slants and she pushes her sunglasses up into her hair, eyes crinkling and squinting in the wind and the sun.
“There is, I hold it.”
“Oh, oh, I didn’t– you– I didn’t mean to–” Foot in his mouth and it might as well be down his throat with the way he’s stumbling over his words. She grins, gives his shoulder a squeeze and a shake.
“You’re fine, man, really, just teasing you a little. Is this your first time on Everest?”
“Yeah, you?” He’s not even standing that close to her, but he still notices a freckle somewhere between the round of her cheek and her eye, watches it jump with her smile. She nods, a glance over his shoulder to what awaits them in these next few weeks. A slog, a perfectly graceless suffering. A climb, a brilliant, beautiful thing.
“I’ll see you out on the Icefall, Harrington. It’s nice to meet you.”
March 1996 - base camp
“That reporter packed out a fucking espresso maker, can you believe this shit? It’s like goddamn Disney world up here.” Eddie says it just loud enough to garner him a few turned heads as he slumps down in his chair next to Steve, making quick work out of a mug full of instant ramen.
“I wouldn’t worry about her, Art will get her sorted out before they make it to camp two. I’m just worried there’s gonna be a jam up there. You ever think you’d see the day there’s a line to summit? Because right now, it’s looking like that’s exactly what we’re gonna have on our hands.”
“Any thoughts on how to avoid that?” He hums, pinching off another bite of his clif bar and working his jaw around it, looking out on what seems to be a veritable sea of tents. At least fifteen outfits this year, and all the ragtag debris they entail, lost-looking group members that probably have no business being up here, already hacking into the elbows of their expensive-looking jackets, camping chairs getting knocked over in the wind, boots tucked outside of tents, the sound and smells of human intervention in an otherwise silent landscape.
“I do, Rob’s not gonna like it though.”
“What am I not gonna like?” A hand on his shoulder, and then a face leaning upside-down over his, almost alien in her round, mirrored sunglasses.
“Do you know if the other outfits are planning for May tenth?”
“Yeah, as far as I know, same as us. Why?” Easy, all of them easy together, Robin sits down between their chairs, carabiner hooked full of keys jangling at her belt loop. She takes a bite of Eddie’s ramen when he offers her the fork and Eddie grins over the top of her head at Steve, cheshire bright in his thermal and leggings, and suddenly, he thinks, they’re sixteen again, driving cross country to go climb in Yellowstone with a few months worth of part-time job savings split between them.
“Stevie here wants to be first in line on the Everest Express.”
“It’s not about being first, it’s about not wanting people stuck up there longer than they need to be. If we could just get a couple days–”
“No.”
“Rob–”
“No, Steve. Everybody wants May tenth for a reason. The weather is looking good–”
“The weather is unpredictable and you know it.”
“And, these people need those days to get ready. You start shaving off days and that’s less time they’ll have been at altitude for the last push. This is just the way it is this year, I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, and it’s getting worse every year. I really think we’re getting out at the right time, you know, picked the right year to have our last season.” Robin huffs, unfolding her legs and standing back up, shading them from the sun for a moment as she brushes off her cargo pants and runs a hand back through her hair.
“Look, I’ll take another pass at the weather. Maybe, and that’s a big maybe, we could swing May eighth. But I make no promises.” And then she’s off, wielding her walkie-talkie like a scepter, already rearranging plans in her mind as she ducks back into their comms tent.
He knows he’s frustrating her, bitching about everything, scowling about everything. Eddie had said as much during the first night at base, why are you being such a downer? We’re on a fucking mountain, at least sell it to the customers, man. And he’s right, they’re on a fucking mountain, and it’s beautiful, and it’s brutal, and it’s all the things he’s loved since he started backpacking as a kid. And there are good moments, there are, moments of looking out onto the landscape, the steep tumbling snow and gray slate crags, witchery in the dance and daunt of ice, the near painfully blue sky that can turn dark and mean in a breath. Moments of true awe, and still, still, he knows that he shouldn’t be here, not really.
Last year, there was a man in their outfit from Texas, brass. Steve can’t remember his name now, but what he can remember is what he admitted to the night before they headed out from base. Everyone had laughed except for Jo and the one other woman who was in their group, when the man confessed that he had forgotten to tell his wife he’d be gone for two months in the spring. And it had been Jo who had plainly asked him if he had any kids, her chin jutted, arms crossed over her chest, her usual all-smiles-all-jokes-but-all-business-lead-guide facade slipping away into something steely, something cold and unamused. Yes, the man had said, two, a boy and a girl. He doesn’t remember much more of that conversation, just that Jo excused herself early from dinner, and when he returned to their tent a little while later, she was already asleep with her back turned to him.
“You alright?”
“I don’t know, Ed. I’ll be good to lead though, that’s not a problem.”
“I didn’t ask if you’ll be good to lead, I asked if you’re alright.”  Something tight turns in his chest, he keeps his eyes down on his hands, folding and unfolding the empty clif bar wrapper.
“Yes, no, I knew it was gonna be hard, but this is fucking– something else.” Eddie leans forward, elbows on his knees, brow furrowed, and he’s nodding, and it’s a look of concern. Steve hates it, never the one needing concern, never the one to be concerned about. The leader, right, level-headed, right, no need for concern.
“You talk to Jo today?”
“Last night, she asked if you packed out sticks of butter again this year.”
“Pfft, of course, a little American comfort at seventeen thousand feet goes a long way. How is she?”
“Doing alright, I think. Had the twenty-week scan on Friday.” He can’t help but smile thinking about it, and Eddie mirrors him, grin spreading and brows raising, oh yeah?
“She found out if it’s a boy or a girl, but she said she’s not gonna tell me until I get home.”
“Well, how about that for a little motivation, huh? I have to admit though, I miss her this year, not the same without her.” Eddie’s smile softens, slighter, sadder, a hand on Steve’s shoulder, and he feels his own face slacken, the ache returning.
“No, it’s not.” Not letting him fall for long, Eddie gracelessly shrugs his chair closer, arm hooking around Steve’s shoulders, cheek to cheek as he starts pointing out their clients.
“But, think of it this way–” He points to one man, him, another, him, one more, and him.
“Add those three up and you got yourself a nice little college fund.” At the very least, it feels good to laugh, resting his temple on Eddie’s shoulder, letting the sun be the sun, and the moment be the moment.
“Can’t argue with that.”
“We’re gonna climb that fucking thing on the eighth, aren’t we?”
“Yeah, I think we are.”
“I’m with you all the way, man.” He holds his hand out for Steve, and it’s a relief, he finds, to clasp his hand, to hold onto something. And Eddie’s one last send? His smile turning young and slanted, a little wild. Steve nods. One last send.

Heaven is a place in hell with you pt. 2
Tumblr media
Member: San as Hades X Persephone Reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst, eventual Smut
Plot: loosely inspired by the myth, I've done some changes to fit what I had in mind when I started writing the story.
Persephone's POV
You loved your life around the forest, you really did. You didn't know much of the world outside from your home but you've heard tales from far away lands. How you'd love to explore the vast world and find new places to call yours too. You'd think that would happen by creating beautiful memories there, and that's what you wanna do when you'll start travelling. If you ever will that is, because Artemis can be a bit overprotective over her nymphs to say the least. Especially you, for some reason. But you've gone on many trips so far...in your imagination at least. The places seemed magical there, almost too good to be true. Well, they weren't true to begin with and they probably aren't like that in real life. So maybe imagining them might be for the best. You'd get too disappointed if you saw them and they weren't nearly as good as you thought they'd be. But keeping yourself surrounded by your thoughts lead you to this. Your only escape, your fantasies. Your mind even wondered in places it shouldn't, at least for a nymph. You are supposed to be a chaste pure demi goddess and to never crave lust. You don't, you really don't. But what about love? Is it off the charts for you too? Should it always be combined with lust somehow? You have many questions regarding love. They will probably remain unanswered because you can't bring yourself to ask Artemis about them. Artemis has shown you the sweetest and most caring side she has, but crossing her lines can be a scary thing. She doesn't forgive easily and she doesn't accept any sort of disrespect either. You'd dishonor her by being a love sick little puppy. Love and Lust start with the same letter after all. Only one breath away. Sometimes one comes first than the other but they do come together often. At least that's what your guess would be, because you haven't experience any of them. But you want to, you want to love. However maybe you can change the type of love you want, maybe that would fit your position better. To swipe the longing for eros to agape for the nature you're surrounded by, the animals, the fellow Nymphs. Maybe you'd feel satisfied enough then, or at least it wouldn't hurt as much as it does now.
"Where are you going little troublemaker?" You questioned when your favorite bird, a little yellow bird started flying away. You wanted to follow it for a bit to see where it was going again. You called it Melodia because it has the most melodic voice you've heard. But Chaos might have been more fitting because it keeps on leaving you for days at a time, making you worried over it's well being. Maybe you'd get your answers today.
You made your way towards Melodia and it was going slower than usual, almost as if it was waiting for you. Maybe that's the friend you'd explore the world with, it'd be an honor. You took a closer look at the flowers around you and gasped when you saw your favorite one, Impatiens. It's not a native plant, it comes from Africa, but Artemis was gifted one years ago and she fell in love with its unique beauty. They are so beautiful but discreet at the same time, like her. Vibrant colors contrasting the green leaves, and no scent left behind. A pleasure to the eye to say the least. Their beauty is enough to draw the attention, without carrying any scent. Those plants don't need a lot of water which makes them easy to maintain but they look particularly sad today you thought. If you'll find a lake or river, you're gonna water them. There is probably a body of water around given the greenery around you. Even if there isn't, you will just follow the same route back. It's gonna be fine. After around 20 minutes of walking, you stumbled across a lake. Finally! Your risky journey was worth it.
"Where is Melodia?" You murmured under your breath.
Here it is again, this ungrateful little creature abounded you again. You think you might be able to figure out how to make a self made bucket to get water to your plants. But you didn't have the instruments for that either. Maybe you should have paid more attention to Hephaestus' lessons on how to survive in the wild. You heard a sound, someone or something stepped on a broken brunch and it made a very obvious sound, suggesting that it's rather *something*. You turned around but it was nowhere, maybe it was your imagination. It was the first time you wandered that far from home and this has you on your toes. You decided to move closer to the lake and stare at the crystal clear waters which reflected the Mediterranean sun perfectly. Your hand was inside the water in no time, washing your hands and face to refresh yourself. You weren't used to being under the sun for so long, but it made you feel alive and energized. You were staring at your own reflection, playing with how it looked when you shook your hand and distorting your image. Out of nowhere the water became darker and aggressive, as if it was raining in the middle of the ocean. You got so scared that you stood up, and took a step behind. A loud noise like earthquake was heard and a set of stairs opened up leading somewhere. Where, you had no idea. You gasped and moved even further from the lake but a sound coming from behind you made you turn your head around, this time you really wished it was just your imagination. An enormous wolf was there, running towards your side, in an alarming way. You couldn't think straight because your fight or flight response was activated and you chose the second option and started running towards the stairs. Each one of them closed behind you and turned to water again, saving you from the beast. You felt relieved for a second to be alive but then it hit you. You don't know where you are and you'd guess you are in even greater danger than you were before. You weren't entirely wrong indeed. The love you always pushed aside, even from your little fantasies before bedtime, was about to come closer than ever before. A charming God after all, might be more dangerous than all the wolves combined.
