Percy calm, but a little on edge

Percy when mildly angry

Friendly reminder that Percy jackson - our beloved silly adorable seaweed brain - is absolutely terrifying. When he’s angry, when he’s scared, when he’s on edge - he’s not warm and fuzzy.

No other character gets that reaction from people. Jason (the sweetie) is perceived as calm and in control, nico (our favorite self-outcasted outcast) is perceived as solemn and creepy, reyna (girlboss queen slay) is perceived as confident and assertive, and annabeth (our girl) is perceived as fierce, clever, and formidable. They are all intimidating to an extent.

But not like Percy. No. Becasue even when he’s at ease, he’s described as wild and disobedient. And when he’s not at ease, even if just little bit, he’s perceived as powerful, dangerous, and scary. Someone who NOBODY wants to mess with. Nobody even questions his power. One look from him has literal gangs running the other way. One look from him has Leo so scared that he’s literally shaking, and feeling the same innate fright and alarm that he does when jason summons an ear-piercing, earth-shaking, deadly bolt of lighting.

One angry look from percy has people thinking one thing: Run.

Percy is, canonically, the character that people find the most frightening and intimidating.

And unless he’s in a good mood - which you better hope he is - the reality is that most of us would be completely terrified of him if we met him.

once again thinking about the worldbuilding in the riordanverse of "names are power" / "belief is power."

The Tri were only able to become immortal through convincing enough people to worship them that it became true. Monsters and immortals only exist through continued belief, and if enough people believe that they're dead or gone then it becomes true, like Pan. Their varied forms exist and manifest as they're believed in and called upon. Names call attention and epithets summon aspects. They're acknowledgement. Belief. Putting a name to a concept creates it as an individual.

And that's so fascinating when you start applying it to demigods. How much of their abilities are based on belief in themselves, in expectations of each other, in their parents' expectations of them? We've seen mortal figures who became immortal in some form or another because they were remembered. Even the lares - ancestral house gods, who persist because they're remembered. They have a legacy.

At what point does a demigod achieve that status? Rumors and whispers about them so persistent that they slowly become true. "I heard that Jason Grace is the son of two gods, does that make him a god?" "I heard Percy Jackson defeated a titan single-handedly. That he can create hurricanes without breaking a sweat. That he can control blood." After awhile, after enough rumors, does it become impossible to tell where they end and the legends begin? Isn't that what being a demigod is; half-legend?

Ok when I say Percy and Annabeth should have been the older mentors to specifically the Lost Hero trio, I’m talking Annabeth looking at Leo and seeing so much of herself it hurts. I’m talking Annabeth seeing the way Leo looks like he’s constantly waiting fir everyone to leave him and thinking about that seven year old hidden behind a trash can who would rather starve and nearly die just because she knew her family didn’t want her. I’m talking about Percy looking at Piper and seeing someone trying to navigate a whole quest and trying not to break because her dad is in danger and she needs to save him, and she has to keep trying but it just hurts and he knows exactly how it feels. I’m thinking about Annabeth looking at Jason, someone who’s only home he ever knew was Camp Jupiter and how he really doesn’t know how to be a person beyond a warrior, and Percy looking at him and seeing someone who knows far too well what it means to have the lives of all the teenagers you care about on your back. I’m talking them being able to make a safe space, be a guide for kids who they see themselves in. I’m talking them being the people they never had as kids. Their stories have been told and letting them use that to help kids like them would have been so powerful.

IMO, Jason Grace is stronger than Percy

Just came on here to say, IMO, Jason is Stronger than Percy as yk how Percy can easily control like the blood of a person and all right? Jason can control blood and other bodily fluids as well due to the presence of electrolytes. Electrolytes are minerals in your blood and other bodily fluids that carry electric charges. They also help in maintaing balance in the body. Also, the human body uses electric signals constantly meaning that Jason can control a human body just as easily and the human body can generate electricity as well. Even though Percy is really strong, Jason has this added to his list of powers including the added body control so I believe he's stronger + he can suck the air out of someone's body as well so I believe he's definitely stronger. Reyna was a much worse person than Octavian, but it was hidden from us

When you think of the Reyna, who do you imagine? a strong and brave cool warrior in the armor of the leader of the whole camp Jupiter and so on, right? this is how Rick is trying to present it to us, when in fact she was... a bad person. more precisely, a terrible praetor

biased (choosing Percy for the post of praetor because she likes him without even thinking about the fact that he doesn't care about the camp), unreliable (and pushing all the responsibility onto Octavian), hardly interested in the safety of people (leaving them on the battlefield every time. Alo, you have to lead people not fly somewhere in the air on a pegasus. and again, Octavian leads the cohorts into battle), who does not know how to prioritize (seriously? do you trust the Greeks and not the Romans?), who abandoned the camp at a critical moment, treating people as expendable (Octavian, Nico, who she needed only to transport the statue (she didn't even think about him in the toa and didn't really worry during their journey), most likely Jason), she wanted to arrange the tribunal over a twelve-year-old girl, was a buller in relation to Octavian (who silently covered her every time), she showed negligence by not providing the camp with any protection during the arrival of the Greeks (as Octavian warned). do you agree that you are no longer drawn to the cool heroine as she is seen by everyone in the fandom?

I admit, it may seem as if I'm trying to make Octavian look white and fluffy against her background and make you hate her, but... this is exactly what was in the books. she treated Octavian terribly, who literally did her job, worried about the camp and the people, tried to ask questions and control the situation, and not blindly trust the Greeks. you see, this situation is so absurd, like everything that happens with Octavian and around him, Rick literally reverse an adequate course of things just for some reason (why?) make him look like an asshole

but it's not just Octavian's problem. this is the problem of Jason, Piper, Nico, Will and other characters that the fandom does not like, repeatedly exposing them as idiots and turning a blind eye to their motivation. because there's Reyna, Percy, and Annabeth. because Rick has favorites (all of whom are disgusting people in my opinion) and he does everything possible so that we love them, and not other heroes. and this is a real problem. that's what I want to say

maybe one day I will write a post that Octavian is literally a victim of bullying and seven and Reyna are typical school bullies

Nico causing wounds to necrotize. Even from a small scratch on your finger, it spreads so fast your only hope is an amputation asap.

Jason holding the air still in your lungs. You're not dying because you don't have air, but because you can't get it out and are literally choking.

Hazel controlling stones in jewelries. Imagine getting chocked by your necklace, your finger being sectioned by your ring, being handcuffed by your bracelets, your head being crushed between your earrings...

Thalia manipulating the electricity in your body. Causing your nervous system to move in certain ways, or just shutting down your brain activity.

The big 3 are terrifying, and I wish we would've seen them (others than Percy) being more op. Cmon Rick, show us reasons the gods are afraid of them !

Jason Grace | Acrophobia (Fear of Heights)

Due to having the same fear as his sister, Jason is completely aware of the dos and dont's when you're an acrophobic.

If you two are forced in situations where you need to be in high places, he always attempts to distract you with anything he can think of.

He prefers embarrassing stories over jokes. His delivery is too deadass and his 'i'm-trying-hard-here-it's-not-funny' look makes you laugh before the punchline.

Knowing that it can be associated with the fear of falling, Jason will reassure you every time that he's going to catch you.

If you did fall, during some battle for example, he will asks you to close your eyes and hold you tighter before slowly bringing you down.

He really lives up to that Superman nickname so much, the others started calling you Lois Lane.

Percy Jackson | Thalassophobia (Fear of Deep Bodies of Water)

Percy would be bummed out. Being the son of Poseidon, he loves to be in the water.

Everything about him— from his favorite hobbies to his happiest of memories, revolves around it and he wants to share that with you.

He plans on taking you on trips underwater; introduce you to the majestic marine creatures nobody else has seen before, unravel mysteries the sea has to offer, and form a big bubble where you can do whatever you want without being interrupted (ehem👀).

But how can he make all of it possible when your fear is literally all of those?

Percy would want to help you get over it. He wouldn't force you but he will at least try convince you.

If you refuse, he will respect that.

But if you accept his help, he'll try to take it one step at a time. Probably by starting to show you how the sea, no matter terrifying it is, is also beautiful place.

Leo Valdez | Pyrophobia (Fear of Fire)

Initially, Leo will laugh. I mean, who wouldn't?

You're a pyrophobic yet you're dating someone who is actually made out of fire?

After he notices that you're not joking, he will begin to be terrified for you. Expect that Leo will be extra careful when you are with him, especially when he is working on something.

His contraptions deemed too dangerous like explosives, will be kept somewhere far away.

As much as he thinks your presence will make Bunker 9 a lovelier workspace, he will understand if you don't want to go there. The essense of it is from the god of fire himself— I mean you need a blast of fire to enter.

He also will refrain himself from using his fire abilities in a fight, making do with his inventions instead.

While pyrophobia doesn't have specific causes, it may be possible that you had some traumatic experience relating to fire. Leo doesn't want to hurt you or make you feel worse.

Frank Zhang | Zoophobia (Fear of Animals)

Frank is confused. He doesn't know that the fear of animals is a thing and would wonder why you agreed on dating him in the first place.

He will ask you tons of questions; what caused your phobia? Are you afraid of all animals, a few, or just one? What can I do? After your conversation, he's going to search more information.

If you're afraid of one animal only, Frank will forget it ever existed. He will never talk of that animal again even when you're not around.

The others will joke about it. Example, if you're scared of snakes—

"What is a snake, Frank?"

"What's that, Leo? I have no idea, so let's never speak of it again."

In the case that you're afraid of all animals (this is a rare condition), he will not use his abilities and will train harder in combat.

When he really doesn't have a choice but to shapeshift in a fight, you two will separate with your friends' assurance that they got your back.

Frank is a nice guy but if someone made an offensive comment about your phobia or hardcore pranks involving that animal? Expect the wrath and rage of Mars.

Nico Di Angelo | Phasmophobia (Fear of Ghosts)

I'm sorry but Nico will slightly judge you. Really, a ghost? What are you, five?

Like Frank, he will ask you what caused your phobia.

He will feel terrible and comfort you if you have the same experience as Reina and Jason, who's loved ones turned into a mania. If it's because of horror movies, he will awkwardly pet your head.

You may think the subject is dropped but Nico will make sure that no ghost will ever come near you.

Having the infamous title 'Ghost King', he will not hesitate to torment and threaten the spirits who try to approach, scare, or talk to you.

He will take you on dates to McDonalds but he will not bring you to any 'ghost business'.

If you want to get rid of your phobia, Nico will summon ghosts who can entertain you; like singers, dancers, those that can do tricks, and stand up comedians.

He will also show you how easily he can bend any ghost to his will, proving to you that there's nothing to be afraid of.

Will is naturally good at flirting due to Apollo, but is also one of the easiest campers to make blush.

Jason naturally plays rougher in games so Leo and Piper, occasionally Percy, become damage control.

Leo is terrified of loud noises and large fires (e.g: wildfires) due to his mother’s death and his own.

Jason didn’t stay died- Juno/Hera commanded the court which ruled in favour of bringing him back.

Leo and Nico are best friends.

Leo and Will are Texan best friends.

Percy doesn’t actually go deep into the water much anymore due to fear of drowning from SoN.

Annabeth can’t look Jason in the eyes anymore without guilt- mainly because of how much he looks like Luke.

The Stolls took a break from pranks for a while, becoming too nervous to mess up with the highly traumatised, yet powerful, demigods.

Leo, Percy, Jason and Nico don’t like physical touch from most people, reacting aggressively or hypersensitivity from it if it from strangers or someone not in there inner circles.

Jason’s love language is physical touch, but now is he normally just does small acts of kindness instead.

The Seven hate fireworks.

Jason is overly flirty with Leo, but doesn’t flirt with anyone else.

Percy has a siren singing voice, but only in water.

Reyna didn’t recognise Jason at first because of his personality being completely different then before Juno/Hera.

If you yell ATTENTION at Jason Grace he just, bolts up. And pulls a salute, it’s like a reflex action. (Head cannon from other user: @florencethefrog245 )

Leo had a weird distrust in Squirrels, for no other reason than “they seem suspicious- always watching 😐”.

Percy: I didn't answer. There was a McDonalds right there and I went for it. He took the bait and has been quiet for the whole car ride.

Grover: So...what do we do?

Leo: OH! *raises his hand* WE'LL SET THEIR LOCKERS ON FIRE!

Thalia: I think what Grover meant was what do we do for now? We don't know these guys, and we don't know how much it's affecting Nico.

Reyna: Thalia's right. We need to have a plan to protect Nico and catch these bastards.

Annabeth: Percy and I already thought about it.

Percy: Introducing the Pick up/Drop off Nico Chart. We each get a schedule of when to pick him up, and when to drop him off

Annabeth: And to make sure we catch these guys, we think it would be best to see Nico off to his classrooms or at least the building.

Thalia, raising her hand: Uhm-

Sometimes he doesn’t realize how tall he is compared to other people like Nico, so it’s super fun to watch him smirking when he doesn’t want Nico to get something and he just puts it in a higher spot.

He’s the biggest Solangelo shipper in the whole damn camp.

He’s the president of the ‘Protect Nico Di-Angelo’ club.

He loves loves LOVES kids, and he’d be the best dad ever.

He loves when Percy calls him to go to Sally’s house, cause he can play with Estelle.

He doesn’t have much personal stuff in the Zeus cabin, but he does have a plushie, and it’s a little eagle that he named Sparkles.

He’s not much of a crier now, but he did cry a lot when he was a kid.
