dickory is canon in every universe but teen titans go me thinks. ttg Robin likes men and might also be an egg. ttg starfire would also never date him, and there’s no way he really likes her at this point he just likes making googly eyes at her

Alright y’all, I was bored and wanted to ignore my hw, so I made a tier list on everyone’s lore and a quick writeup for each placement. Just an fyi this is my opinion and will most likely change as we get more story content, but right now this is where I stand (no arguing please, or at least nothing that’ll result in name calling and such)
But yeah this is something I’ll probably look back on and be like “hmm maybe I was too harsh with my rankings” but rn it’s like 2:30 in the morning so yeah
TW: mention of abuse in Octane’s section
All of it will be under the cut
Tumblr media
S Tier
Bloodhound: Maybe I’m biased because I’m a BH main, but imo their lore is the most interesting and nuanced out of everyone’s. From their parents, to their uncle, to Boone, and now their planet, Bloodhound’s backstory, current lore, and character is fantastic and honestly peak writing from Respawn atm.
Wraith: I understand that not everyone loves the “I lost my memory and am now trying to find out who I am” trope, and maybe this is also biased because I’m a complete Wraith simp, but her lore to me is also very unique and well done. The entire Voidwalker cinematic alone is what’s basically putting her in S tier, but I also love how she is the prime definition of “Looks like they can kill you, but is actually a cinnamon roll” instead of your typical edgy girl that coldly pushes everyone away.
A Tier
Horizon: Interstellar but make it Scottish. She has really nice interactions with Mirage and Wattson, and there’s plenty of potential with where her character can go now that Ash is in the picture.
Gibraltar: While his lore isn’t as flashy like the ones in S tier, I still think it’s really good. For one, it’s consistent, and the stuff with Nik and Michael is very bittersweet. I really like how despite the tragedies in his life, like BH, that only made him more determined to do the right thing. 10/10 he’s got your back bruddahs
Mirage: Respawn’s poster boy, so it’s only natural that he gets a shitload of lore. Fortunately, it’s not shit and actually fleshes him out as a character greatly. I also really like the canon sibling relationship he has with Rampart. Now that his dad may or may not force himself into the picture soon, it’s gonna be more character development for Mirage either way.
Borderline
I’ll explain this tier real quick. Basically they’re between A and B; they have the potential to be great, but they’re being held back by a certain something.
--
Bangalore: Pathfinder’s Quest did a really good job fleshing her out, but the love triangle and inconsistent behavior towards Wraith isn’t doing her any favors. It’s a shame, because characters like Anita are really unique and not seen often. I can only hope Respawn realizes that no, love triangles are not the peak writing they think it is.
Loba: Same deal here, that love triangle and her rebounding off Valk is really not doing anything good towards her character. They’re adults, are they not capable of communicating? Like Bangalore, she’s also really unique in the sense that she’s a bisexual woman of color in a video game who is a complete girlboss and inspiration. Respawn stop fucking up your characters please!
B Tier
Revenant: He’s really badass, and his lore is fun, it’s just that the writing is making him look like a complete joke. He gets clowned on every time he’s about to do something cool and it’s honestly kinda sad. If the writing could give him a few kills to his name to actually establish that he’s a threat, I’ll put him up higher.
Octane: If this was fanon Octane, he’d be an automatic S tier. Respawn needs to flesh out his backstory some more, like most of the fanfics do. That one comic where he confronts his dad was 10/10, we just need more of that and actually tackling the effects his father’s abuse had on him. Also the potential history he has with Seer is a good opportunity to explore more of his character, so that’s a good start.
Rampart: Just recently she’s getting lore, and all of it is very good so far. The relationships she has with a lot of the legends are very strong, and the foreshadowing towards Big Sister returning is also a huge plus.
Fuse: The Maggie stuff was honestly really fucking lame (I blame the ingame comics for this), for me what’s really carrying his character rn are the Fusehound interactions. Idrc if it ends up platonic or romantic, all Ik is that there is a lot of potential in fleshing out Fuse as a character either way.
C Tier
Pathfinder: Okay I’m not gonna lie, I have conflicted feelings on Path. He got an entire book to himself dedicated to his own lore, along with a cinematic that gave a visual on what actually happened to his creators, and yet I don’t care for his lore??? Thinking about it, it’s probably because he didn’t really get any character development, he ultimately stayed the same (except that one moment where Revenant screwed with him, but he bounced back literally one chapter later). Also, it honestly looks like his story is over anyway, he just has to find his kid. At least his personality is 10/10 though
Lifeline: Y’all are probably thinking, why is Lifeline here and not Octane + vice versa, isn’t their lore basically the same? It’s because imo Octane has more potential character development atm, and Lifeline doesn’t really have any character interactions that don’t have to do with her childhood friend, so that to me is what’s separating her from Octane. Lol again if this were fanon Lifeline she’d probably be in A tier, borderline S tier.
D Tier
Valkyrie: Literally the first thing that happens to her in the lore is that she gets thrown into a love triangle. I understand that it’s in her character to be flirty and stuff, but a love triangle? Really? Ms. Kairi Imahara deserves sm better than that. Honestly the only reason she’s not in F tier is because I like her personality, along with the Northstar cinematic.
Seer: Tbh, there isn’t a lot we know about Seer. However, what we know about him so far isn’t detrimental and for me the reason he isn’t in F tier. The interactions he has so far have the potential to be explored.
E Tier
Wattson: Man. I wish she wasn’t here, but the fact that almost all her lore involves babysitting two grown men really killed her character for me. Fanon Wattson is a million times more enjoyable to me, Respawn needs to seriously consider giving her independent lore and/or branch out to other characters that aren’t Crypto and Caustic.
Crypto: Same thing, the fact that he’s strictly tied to Wattson and Caustic rn is annoying and stupid. It also doesn’t help that literally nothing about his personal lore has been addressed recently (Mila, clearing his name).
F Tier
Caustic: If he were actually established as a proper villain, he’d be way higher. But no, Respawn wants to play rock paper scissors with this guy; one second he literally wants to gas a city, the next he’s playing nice because “Wattson blackmailed him?” Lol I don’t fucking think so. I’m not saying a redemption arc for Caustic is impossible, it’s just that Respawn did a really shitty job in actually convincing people that he deserves it. And yes, even the whole deal with his mom isn’t doing it for me. Nah fuck this guy sorry y’all, he’d be way better as a villain imo
TLDR: Fanon does it better

Take Two: The Guardian in Gotham Chapter 12
First   Previous   Next   Ao3
He’s a little boy again, laughing and racing through the halls of the Mansion, surrounded by the auburn warmth and love of his mother. Her green eyes, so similar to his own, sparkle down at him as she smiles. He reaches out for her, beaming hopefully, but as soon as he touches her, she crumbles, form blurring and fading. The warmth around him vanishes with her, and then he is alone. Stuck in the cold, silent, Mansion, a gilded cage for him to perform like an exhibit on display. He almost never catches a glimpse of his father, seeing more of Nathalie than him. Piano, fencing, Mandarin, photoshoots, the never ending cycle of activities goes on and on. He is a puppet, a doll. Dancing to their tune. He meets Ladybug, bounding across the rooftops, and the warmth sparks anew. It’s a different kind of heat, red, not the oranges and yellows of before, but still bright. He jokes and laughs, and keeps quiet to preserve the peace. Then, their identities are revealed and his world comes crashing down again. Chloé tells him about sexual harassment, screaming at him for being such an asshole to Mari, and he feels the familiar, numbing, cold creeping up his spine. What had he done?! He...had done… He goes to Ladybug-Marinette-and gets on his knees and apologizes. He apologizes for being too loud as Chat and too quiet as Adrien. He apologizes for not being there, for leaving her struggling in both aspects of her life, just so he could keep the warmth a little longer. But she smiles at him, and says they’ll work on it, and the fire blazes anew. He still loves her, but not in the same way. She is his sister, his sibling, someone to care for, and protect. She is not his lover, but his friend, and somehow, that's all he ever wanted.
--- He opens his eyes with a nostalgic smile on his lips. His eyes are wet, and he tastes salt on his tongue. He reaches out to his other half, his family, and she reaches back, grabbing him in a tight embrace. He hears the green hero telling him he’s not an enemy, but he ignores him, clutching Marinette like a lifeline. As Chloe steps forward, he loosens his hug, keeping his arm around her shoulders instead and turns to watch. She saw how they cried, relieving whatever horrific memories they had been subjected to. As she squeezed her eyes shut, blackness enveloping her, she couldn’t help but feel the familiar tingle of fear wrapping around her like a cloak. --- She is five again, watching as Mommy and Daddy scream at each other. Mommy’s mouth is open in a snarl, and Chloé can’t help but think she looks like a scary monster from her bedtime stories. The one that eats people. Seven years old, and every day they’re yelling at each other, screaming and shouting mean words in the other room. She hears Mommy say ‘This was all a mistake!’ And she huddles under her blankets, pulling Mr. Cuddly closer to her chest. She hears a door slam, and her Mommy is marching away to the helicopter, and there are suitcases being loaded inside. She sees her yellow suitcase is not in the pile, and Daddy is still standing on the roof, not in the helicopter. Her heart skips a beat and she clutches Mr. Cuddly even tighter as she stands beside Daddy and watches Mommy fly away. Does Mommy not love me anymore? She is eight and her Daddy is running for Mayor. He’s too busy to spend time with her, so he buys her a phone to say sorry. She takes it, but there is a weird feeling in her chest, like something is missing, and it doesn’t disappear as she sits alone in her room, playing some mindless game. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve. Daddy spends less and less time with her, buying more and more gifts to try and make up for his absence. The gifts fill her room, but they don’t fill the empty space in her heart. Sabrina tries, but Chloé knows she doesn’t really like her. She’s only doing it because Chloé gives her gifts too. Then Marinette comes along, and Chloé feels her hatred grow. How come her parents spend time with her?! What makes her so special? ... Why don’t my parents spend time with me? So she huffs and bullies and wraps herself in a cloak of thorns, keeping everyone at arms distance so that she won’t be let down and left alone again. She has Adrien, of course, but she knows she is using him. And he lets her use him, moving through the motions like a doll.
Then Ladybug soars through the sky, catching her as she plummets from Stoneheart’s grasp, high above. Bright blue eyes and signature red, and Chloé watches from below as she flies, wishes and dreams kept secreted away in her heart.
She finds Pollen’s comb, and suddenly her wildest dreams have sprang to life. She is a superhero! She can stand beside Ladybug and Chat Noir, and everyone will love her and her parents will be proud, and maybe now they’ll stay…But Ladybug is mad, and everyone hates her, and she knows Mommy Mother is already disappointed. So she carves a wall of ice and frost around her heart, and wraps her thorned cloak tighter around herself.
And then a Miracle happens, and Ladybug forgives her, and adds her to the team permanently. And they reveal their identities, and she apologizes to Marinette and Adrien because she knows she was wrong, and they give her a second chance.
And her heart is racing and she can’t hear properly because the only thing she can understand now is the simple thought running through her brain over and over.
Permanently? They’re staying? I’m staying? They won’t leave me..?
And they are a family now, and she is loved, and there is Kagami, looking at her with that knowing glint in those deep brown eyes, reaching over to pull her into the warmth of her arms, and finally, finally, that empty space is full again.
---
She saw the familiar darkness of her closed eyelids again, signaling the mind search was over, but she kept them shut for a moment longer, savoring the memories, the love. Only, she didn’t need to savor them, she remembered, because they were right here.
And so she opened her eyes, and saw her friends standing right there, arms already outstretched to pull her into their comforting embrace. Grinning, she let two sparkling tears roll down her cheeks. Only two, for the childhood she never fully had, and the family she finally found.
Kagami was a creature of discipline, and as she closed her eyes, she willed her breath to stay even, her heart to continue its pulse, and her hands to remain steady.
---
“Again!” Her mother’s harsh demand cracked through the air like a whip, sending ice skittering down her spine. Her face stung from where it had scraped on the concrete, it’s cold temperature soothing her scratched skin. Her arms trembled, refusing to bear her weight as she struggled to push herself up in time to block the next blow from her mother’s boken. With a grunt, she parried and thrust, only to fall flat on her back with a grunt.
“Again!”
A whirl of movement, then her knee screamed with pain-
“Again!”
She stood on shaky feet, raising her foil, only to get knocked down seconds later.
“Again!”
“Again!”
“Again!”
So she rose, and she fell, and she rose again.
Nothing she gave was ever enough. She bled, and she cried, and she worked herself to collapse, only to be rewarded with another training session, harsher criticism, and higher standards for her to meet. Nothing she did was ever enough. She was weighed down by the expectations of her mother.
And then she met Adrien, and she knew they were only forced together for their parent’s benefit, but how she longed for his love. For any love.
So she told herself she loved him, and he loved her, ignoring how she felt nothing as she looked into his eyes. She knew she was stubborn, and had a tendency to do things on her own, but even after she messed up as Ryuko Ladybug gave her a second chance.
It was...surprising to say the least. She had expected a scolding, and harsh, cutting, words, but instead she had revived another try, and words of encouragement. She felt a smile tug her lips upward, as she stood and charged into battle. And then, to her surprise, she was given a permanent place on her team. They never expected her to work herself to exhaustion, they accepted what she gave, only pushing her gently. And it was after their identity reveal, when they were talking about romance, and crushes, and that sort of thing did she realize she wasn’t messed up.
“Well, I’m totally bi,” Marinette giggled from where she lounged on a nearby chaise.
“Really? Nice. I’m lesbian as fuck.” Chloé spoke as she braided her hair.
“Ay, it’s a fellow gay!” Luka called from his seat on the floor.
“Aro and Demiace over here my people!” Adrien exclaimed, throwing up peace signs.
“Lesbian? Bi? What do those mean?” Kagami asked from her perch on the bed.
“Oh! Well bisexual is basically me liking men and women, lesbian means you’re a woman that only likes women, gay is a man that only likes men, and aromantic means you feel no romantic attraction towards someone, and demisexual means you need to form a strong emotional connection with someone before experiencing sexual attraction.” Marinette explained.
“Oh,” Kagami frowned in thought. “So it’s not..bad to like other women?”
“Of course not!” Chloé exclaimed, looking scandalized at the thought.
Her friends had taken it well.
Her mother, however, did not. Although most Japanese were okay with homosexuality, Tomoe Tsurugi wanted a biological heir to continue their bloodline.
“You’re just confused, Kagami. This is why I don’t like you spending time with those friends of yours. They talk about all these things, and suddenly you start thinking that you are like...that. Stop this foolishness at once.”
She hadn’t raised her voice, but the disdain was clear in her tone. And with those words, the fragile shell of joy she had built around herself shattered in the face of rejection.
She opened her eyes, feeling as though someone had reopened her scars and left the wounds bare and bleeding on display.
Her eyes were dry, and the salt of tears was not present on her lips, but she felt bad though she had cried for hours. With a small shudder, she grabbed Chloé’s hand and allowed herself to be pulled into a warm embrace.
And then it was Luka’s turn, and there was no hint of nervousness on his face as he closed his eyes.
---
Scenes burst to life behind his eyelids in a flash of color and sound. He was five again, creeping down the hallway on their boat in the direction of the muffled sobbing emanating from his mother’s cabin. “Maman?” He questions uncertainly, pushing open the door and allowing a thin ray of light to shine on his mother’s tear-streaked face. “Maman are you okay?”
Anarka’s head jerked up at his voice, hands coming up to wipe at her cheeks.“I’m fine, baby. Mama’s just feeling a little sad today. Why don’t you go play with Jules, huh?”
“Okay Maman. I love you!” He walks back to his room on small feet, knowing even then, that his mother’s sadness stemmed from larger problems. Six years old and he still struggles with speaking to other kids. Miss Adeline says he’s just shy, but he isn’t. It’s just hard to find the right words to use.
So he uses music to speak, and in every strum of his guitar there is a word; in every measure, a sentence; every song is an expression, an exclamation, a lament, that conveys more than words ever could.
He still struggles with the words sometimes, and he focuses on all his friends too much, so sometimes he forgets to focus on himself. But that’s okay, because everyone tells him to be empathetic, and put other people’s needs before his own, so that’s what he does.
And then Ladybug asks him to be Viperion, and he can’t say no. So he accepts, and watches time and time again as his friends and family die before his very eyes, bodies slack, eyes unseeing, blood everywhere. But he knows she can’t bear this burden alone, so he keeps marching on.
And on.
And on.
He opens his eyes to the still-haunted faces of his friends, looking at him with concern.
He gives them a smile to assure them he is fine, he is not and then turns to Martian Manhunter with a polite expression on his face. “Now that we’re all cleared, what’s next?”

I FEEL LIKE i just ran away from home and then realized i’m five and, unfortunately, cannot survive without my parents. LMDFLKDFGM i missed u all and had to return… we hate to see it. anyway! whew. i figured i’d post a refreshed lil intro for cohen to make sure i hit on some key changes before i hop back into the game! the most important / group-related part is right at the top, so if u read nothing else, read that! ily all and i’m excited to jump back in like i never left. i’ll be sliding in dms and makin’ starters asap, so if u wanna make some connection changes my door’s always open! x

cohen currently lives in a glorified, raggedy frat-esque house ( he is NOT a fratboy but he might as well be huh ) of his own right off campus, about a five minute drive / ten minute walk from the stadium ( it’s about four bedrooms large with three bathrooms, all on one floor. think david dobrik’s house–click here to see–except much uglier and CHEAP MVDFLG ).
he’s fiscally very protective of his savings. he’s been working since he was 12 with his dad, and never ever spent his money, despite some repetitive near-misses where his parents tried ( and failed, bc cohen’s slick ) to steal money from him. basically he now pays for his share of the house using the money he saves/has always saved working for factories, farms, & fixing people’s junk cars.
his only current roommate is foster, meaning he has two spare rooms he’s not really doing anything with. beer pong table’s outside, the kitchen is the alcohol hot spot, there’s a pool table instead of a dining room table, u know how it goes.
regardless, he throws open invite house parties literally every weekend. they take place every friday night up until the sun rises on sunday morning–whether he’s around the house for all of five seconds or all night doesn’t matter, because they’re always a-go.
you’re all 100% free to use his house entirely at your leisure for character fun / development / a place for ur thread to take place / etc! you don’t even need to get my okay beforehand! just do it! think of it as a known dillon fact that cohen’s having a house party every weekend NFKDFNDFKJG.
no matter who you are, whether cohen likes you or not, he will not care if you show up with some randos or familiar faces and party it out. he’s socially bored 24/7 and full of apathy and alcohol at all times so mans probably will be plastered drunk out doing donuts in the parking lot and fighting someone he doesn’t have beef with anyway. ur muse probably won’t even see him there. LMKGDFLG if you’ve ever seen burlesque? literally him showing up to his OWN house for a visit / to get plastered and then wander off during the weekend party is…. real. so yeah! use his house like it’s ur own. just be out by sunday afternoon bc he likes to pretend none of it ever happened as soon as he wakes up and has to be sober for school. x KMVFBLFG love u all.

this has never presented as too large of an issue for cohen, despite living in dillon. he isn’t afraid of being talked about, and has a history of making sure people know he can hold his own if anyone has anything to say about his personal life.
university major.    architecture  &  architectural technology.
after living in a trailer for the duration of his life, the idea that he would be invested in architecture is astounding. however, here he is. his passion for home creation stemmed from growing up and envisioning a real home to live in. his parents are both into self-taught carpentry, and his dad was shoving tools and measuring tape into his hands from the time he was young in an effort to instill in him a firm “get it done yourself” mindset. he spends his time studying structure  &  building planning, and secretly has a journal full of dream house mark-ups.
occupation.    wide receiver for the dillon panthers, full time student, & prospective architect / carpenter post-college.
tattoos.    many riddled throughout his body. brandon arreaga’s tattoos are cohen’s.
face claim.    brandon arreaga.
alignment.    neutral evil.
hogwarts.    slytherin.
positive & negative traits.    ( if u’ve already read this do not read it again i promise u nothing here changed LSMFLD )
hardworking–he works himself to the bone and is entirely unapologetic about it. you’ll rarely catch him slipping, but if he does, he’s the first to get ear-splittingly angry with himself over it. he’s way too hard on himself & he knows it, but he’ll never admit it.
he nitpicks at the flaws of others in an effort to feel superior, and always acts unaffected when he’s called out for bringing the team down when he’s not taking care of himself ( cue vince howard from fnl or nathan scott from oth scenes where they’re bragging about how good they are on the field even though he’s apt to get himself hurt because of how desperate he is for some kind of validation–cohen had a huge issue with restricting and abusing stimulants / testing steroids throughout high school and college in an attempt to boost his football persona. he was always incredibly fast and beat literal ODDS to maintain his wide receiver position, but especially thanks to his small build he’s used to being underestimated / downplayed, which puts a really heavy weight on his shoulders. today, he’s eating healthily, he’s off drugs, and he’s taking care of himself better than he ever has before, but it’s still incredibly hard and he still reaches out for ways to overcompensate, which is where alcohol usually comes into play ).
transparent–sure, he can turn into a stressed out & irritable jerk within a fraction of a second, but at least he’s upfront about when he switches lanes. LDFGLMKFG
he’s incredibly focused, which means he’s never going to linger in uncertainty for too long before he admits that he’s just not down to be around you / to be there / to talk / etc. he’s no bullshitter by any means. he’d rather hurt your feelings and keep his environment stable and tactile than stick around and put his easily shaken emotions at risk just to make you comfy.
he’s also accountable. he knows when he’s causing shit to fuck up & hit the fan, and he’s always quick to right wrongs when things are on him. ofc he’s bred from a family full of blame-givers, so he unhealthily picked up a bad habit of being really good at sounding like he’s apologizing sincerely when he’s really just trying to end a fight because he’s annoyed. LDCLDKMFDFG.
he’s blunt, temperamental, & incredibly selfish when it comes to his own lifelines / vices, but wholeheartedly selfless when it comes to doing anything to protect or lift up the people he loves.
mental diagnoses.    anorexia nervosa ( in recovery ), alcoholism ( ongoing ), an addiction to various stimulants ( in recovery ), & frequent past attempts at steroid use.
physical diagnoses.    n / a.
phobias.    has an irrational fear of accidentally burning down his house. will get immensely stressed–to the point where he’s absolutely annoying and intolerable to put up with / be around–if someone’s cooking or baking “irresponsibly.” will probably yell at you and hover-cook until you let him take over so he can make sure nothing goes wrong. LMSDFKLFG
scars.   an appendix scar on his lower left side.
drug use.    frequently.
alcohol use.    frequently.
diet.    very decently rounded. he loves to cook, despite being self-taught. growing up the way he did, he settles for making simple dishes very well. he’s not the type to go all out for dinner. he meal preps like it’s his job. he usually just settles with some kind of pan-friend chicken and pasta dish at home.
birth place.    dillon, texas.
parents.    "jude" judith & anthony segura.
two lower class parents with deep-rooted anger issues. they currently live in the same trailer park together, in separate trailers, and fight with each other constantly. they claim they’re divorced, and are seeing other people, but they’ve never actually filed for anything, since anthony segura thinks it’s just a ploy for judith to take “half [his] shit.” cohen visits them often, and acts as a middle ground child who hates but loves both of them equally. his dad enjoys / tolerates his son’s presence more than his mother does, but only marginally. his mother’s much less concerned with the fact that she has children, since, in her mind, her relationship issues are the most important things in her life. cohen spent many nights as a kid with his drugged up mom in his lap while she cried about not being loved by anyone. his dad, even though he’s rough with cohen, at least spends time with him every now and again. as a kid, his dad was handing him beers to drink and tools to learn to use to prove he was a man ( despite being a ten y/o child bfkjgk oh well! ). regardless, today cohen lives on his own but is still the financial backbone for his parents–since his mom is unemployed and his dad is a seasonal construction worker–and has been since he was fifteen. they ask him for money every chance they get, and cohen never says no.
siblings.    a younger sister ( by two years ). loves her to death. would protect her with his life.
pets.    he’s notorious for letting a certain set of strays run amuck in his house. he feeds the neighborhood cat, is a-okay with people bringing their animals to his parties, etc. but he’s too scared of permanence and obsessed with independence to ever follow through with getting his own animal.
education.    current senior at dillon university.
he has always been a decent student. he got into architectural honors college his sophomore year of college. however, he’s still not by any means incredibly intelligent. he’s decent grade-wise, but only because he tries really hard and puts in the effort it takes to keep up in a field like architecture. he’s also a chronic cheater, but c’est la vie! lmfgdflkg he spends the vast majority of his time either studying or practicing, and gets very irritable very quick doing either activity because he doesn’t know how to manage stress, so he drinks in the evenings in an attempt to make up for his tense demeanor, but he’s an angry drunk so… whomst are we really kidding here. Wrote NaraTrish having fun, confessing, and comforting each other bc they’re so great as either friends or a couple
*This isn’t for nasty pedo thotties or prudish infantilizing thotties, both sides of the discourse shut up 1-2 year gap max is fine and no one should ever sexualize minors with or without adults, this is for well adjusted people who recognize teens can explore sexuality and romance without showing sex or being disgusting fetish ty
Anyway I made like 3 Aerosmith song references if you can find them cool keep on rockin (extra bonus if you know what the allusion is at the final paragraph and line) also bisexual hc for both
"Your hands are a lot bigger than mine. That's friggin unfair. I'm a guy!" Trish giggled yet the only irritation he felt aimed at himself. He knew why that was. How he once scrounged a year eating trash; no home or bed and the eyes of wolves reflected in anyone else. When he would tell her however remained uncertain. It brought only shame. "Narancia there's nothing wrong with that. Look, you're covered with callouses. I'd never get one in a million years." She smiled and separated their hands to trace along his. Her finger ran along his lifeline; a patch of skin on his left palm mangled by scars. He didn't know what quick thing he should say. His boyish eyes were too dazzled by how smooth she was by comparison. How nice she smelled. The way he carried himself just didn't cut it. But now wasn't the time to think, Trish was speaking. "If you're worried about looking manly I think you're already there. Halfway at least." Narancia groaned and hung his head. The bravado he clung to deflated. She touched their foreheads. Their hands returned to their laps. No hesitation bothered Trish when she stroked his cheek. He moved to rest his head against her shoulder. "You really think I'm doing a good job Trish? This whole thing, this fuckin mess...Your life in danger...Your asshole dad-" "I said before to all of you. Even if I have to die by the end; I won't meet it without knowing who I came from. I'll see this through never running away." She felt him sigh and lean against her. She'd flooded confidence into what she said. It was conviction. Not just because she believed it, or because facing one's problems defined responsibility. Courage propelled Narancia forward; eased past his turbulent indecisiveness whenever he wasn't under threat. Buccellati breathed such a thing as if it were life energy. Without her full awareness that will had a hand in shaping her, when exactly she couldn't say. To think the same man she might regard as a true father often disregarded Narancia being wounded short of death- that gnawed at her. To Trish, risking his life being part of the job didn't justify some callousness. Whether she loved Narancia as a man or a comrade he mattered beyond being ordered. When she realized he'd gone awfully quiet she embraced him. He was so small despite being an inch taller. A minute passed before anything came from him. "I was so scared. Following everyone- I was so so scared. Buccellati's never been wrong; but when I had to make up my own mind I froze. That's awful...I owe him everything but I froze. Why couldn't I just be ready to die for him and come along to begin with?" She pet his hair and leaned against him closing her eyes. He felt coarse, even a bit sweaty. No one could remember the last time they'd taken consistent showers. Yet the longer she felt his heart in silence the more she didn't care. Only he could do that. Of the talkative bunch Mista was a friend; but his fault lay in the ways he bore himself down. Asserted himself a bit too intensely. Narancia had been different from the start. Thus by her book he got away with less. Most importantly he was the easiest to talk to. He could be loud and quick tempered at insults- then soft spoken the moment he grew unsure in himself, or unsure at saying the right thing on his mind. Even if he didn't always understand, he knew how to consider what others suffered. Not once could Trish remember him speaking to her knowingly with ill intent. So she held him thinking, grasping in her mind for any smart sounding solutions. Anything Buccellati might say as much as it annoyed her to admit it. Ultimately that proved fruitless. No one else but Buccellati could be him after all. Instead she said, "No one is glad to die Narancia." He tensed up. Trish pulled back and looked him in the eyes; spoke directly to his heart. "No one's glad to die even if they say they are. They'll hate it right to the moment it happens. I think you were right to hesitate. That's not an easy choice." "Hmm...if you say so. Giorno gave me hope what I chose was right y'know; he's that kinda guy. I gotta figure out how to do that for me. And I guess also...the stuff you said about not giving up on finding things out..." Narancia fiddled with his hands. Mussed his hair. Buying this much time to think in conversation set off Trish's suspicions. She raised an eyebrow; that was her tell. "I thought you were a lot like me. But you don't just do things on whims, so I guess not. Sorry." The room inside the turtle grew quiet only for a pause. Trish broke it with a laugh light as air. Immediately Narancia's grim mood was wiped away by a panic. He spoke as she kept laughing. "Did I say something dumb?" Trish wiped a tear from her eye and fell calm. She had such control of her emotions sometimes he could always tell where one had stopped and the other began. Emotion through his mind took on the unguided frenzy of a storm. The idea of control, like obeying authority he didn't choose, slid off him no better than oil on water. "No no Narancia just silly. You can empathize with someone without being them." "Empathize? What's that mean?" "Means you can understand what someone feels. You understand it and share it. Usually if you've gone through similar things." "My mom died when I was younger and my dad could care less about me too. That's why I emp...empi-" "Em-pa-thigh-ze." "Yeah that. Empathize." "That's alright Narancia I get it." She wouldn't press him for more. That would come in his own time on his own terms. Not knowing everything didn't make the pang in her heart less real. "Dads suck huh?" They laughed. They didn't know if it was to mask hurt or dry humor or both. Though it felt sudden but certainly wasn't, now Trish wanted anything to change the mood. She stood up and Narancia's eyes followed in constant interest. No one needed to say anything for him to mimic her. "I never showed you my Stand did I? You were injured." In an instant every feature of Narancia's face glowed excitement. He made exaggerated gestures and talked almost twice as fast. The others could find it annoying or immature but she saw endearing. "You didn't you have to show me! What's its name? Lemme see lemme see!" "Settle down Narancia I'm not going anywhere." Trish stood still and shut her eyes. She breathed a deep breath. Her concentration would've faltered if it weren't his eyes watching. A trick she's formed was to focus on an idea of her father. How she'd hit him back. The rest came easy. "Spice Girl." A feeling on her skin like a buzz when you come close to an electric current swept over her. Behind her, from her a shimmering humanoid figure emerged. Despite all the attention it took to summon Spice Girl appeared in an instant. It matched her height and build; that was where the similarities ended. It's skin was pinks and reds and rare whites. The eyes were catty and yellow; all emotion reserved to observe the world. Symbols marked its head, kneecaps, and shoulders. Though he never finished elementary school Narancia thanked Fugo for learning to recognize them. They were equation markers. Addition and division. Something akin to a tunic with narrow rectangular gaps covered its chest. A tiny skirt resembling a Centurion's at the end of that hid the groin. It said nothing yet stared at him; peered into him as if seeing not his body but Aerosmith. Trish opened her eyes; shifted from looking lovingly up at her Stand to enthralled Narancia. His naturally big eyes gave him the wonder of a child. That she always found cute. What hitched her breath came seeing the gentle fascination, the pride for someone else, the way he stared as though it were the only thing he'd find tender. She moved to walk closer toward him and found him doing the same. He remained entranced until they gently collided. Finally his eyes fell on her again; their sweet emotion unchanged. In one of those rare contemplative moments he spoke soft but genuine. Forever genuine. He didn't know any other way to be. "It's really nice Trish. Way cooler than Aerosmith. It looks like it always knows what to do; that's you all the way. Looks strong." Suddenly her face grew red hot; her first blush not from embarrassment. If Narancia noticed he didn't say it, but he probably had. "What can it do?" "It makes anything softer. Like rubber. And that-" She rose her hand and clenched it the way Spice Girl had done at its awakening. "Makes them stronger than diamonds." Spice Girl punched the floor in a blink. The rug beneath them stretched like gum. Narancia stares down trembling ever so slightly. The fabric had appeared to melt into a reflective puddle. Shifting his feet produced a rubbery squish. It consumed him faster than quicksand. Before they could sink knee deep as the ground gave way, it was undone. He sighed and caught his breath. Little by little his composure returned. Though he would never be endangered at her hand such strength made anyone nervous. Spice Girl returned within Trish. They were within arms length. "Pretty crazy huh? I'd never have believed it till it appeared." Narancia nodded dumbly. When she took his hands again he swallowed hard; looked her head on. He had a knack for reading into anything if he applied himself. Right now it washed away under the racing of his heart. There was an energy to her expression he'd never seen on anyone. A look he once imagined Fugo might wear. His body tingled. Trish spoke uncharacteristically sheepish. Paused in places where he thought she'd be firm. Her thumbs brushed along his and it gave him a chill. He didn't want to pull back. The last bits of his rationale struggled to give answers. Was she sick? Did she need to lie down? More importantly how much longer did they have alone? What would he tell the guys? Buccellati? "Narancia I...uh well...this might be weird but- have you ever kissed someone?" A pause. His memory skipped in disbelief. "W-What?" "Kissed someone. Anyone. On the mouth." "Like how my parents used to?" Trish laughed into a sigh. "Yeah like that." Narancia scrambled to undo the burned out engine his thoughts became. He was growing way too hot. Hot the way he sometimes did dreaming of Fugo, or some magazine model, or...Trish. Those nights he'd wake up covered in sweat and dazed. The feeling crashed its way into the present faster than a plane. He couldn't meet her eyes. "No. You'll probably say it's weird but I used to...imagine that with Fugo. N-Not all the time! It would just happen and I couldn't do anything about it." "Oh? Really?" "Yeah. It's stupid cuz guys are supposed to think about girls. And that kind of stuff with them..." If he were looking he'd see some of Trish's fire dampen. She didn't let it reach her voice. "Do you still think of him that way?" "No! N-No...not since he left. I mean I can get why but, he abandoned us when we needed him." His eyes flit to her again. "When you needed him. It's made me real confused; angry too I guess." "Well it's not weird. Not to me. Don't tell anyone but sometimes I've thought of girls too and-" Trish grew fully red in the face again. Even she couldn't finish that sentence. Narancia gasped; his expression lit up with something not painful. "So you get it then! I thought I was the only one. Boys and girls...I don't think I care which." "Right? I don't think I could choose either. But my real question is-" She leaned closer letting him hear her heart through her pulse. He didn't need Aerosmith to tell her breathing went fluttery. It made him want to lean in. "Have you ever wanted to kiss me?" Wordlessly he held her. The spinning indecisiveness that had him tail diving righted itself. He stared at her with his mind made. The tiny gasp she gave at the move solidified his resolve. This wasn't a dream. "You should've just asked me that in the first place." "Eh? So you-" "To be honest I thought you'd never ask or do anything. I'm not the brightest guy at this stuff." "Sorry..." "It's alright." "Really?" "Yeah." Their faces were a hairsbreadth apart. "Ah-" Their eyes shut at the brush of their lips. Neither needed direction or would've taken any from anyone but themselves. He felt Trish wrap her arms around his neck; pressed all of herself against him the way he did her. Slowly she pulled him down with her fingers in his hair. Kissed him stronger when they knelt in sync. The feel of his touch along her jaw electrified them both. Affectionately he brushed her hair behind her ear. No longer than seconds passed each time they separated into another kiss; shallow  or meaningful. One after another. The thought of being caught with one look into the turtle from above meant nothing to their roaring hearts. How long it'd been before they separated they didn't know. They sighed against each other. Trish was the first to smile; to giggle in that mystical way Narancia couldn't explain but felt. He kissed her forehead; hated to let go. "Trish I lov-" She put a finger to his lips. "You've already said it for now. Just hold me. I wanna know you're really here." "Ok...ok." They laid on the rug embracing all the while. When she leaned against his chest and tickled his neck at each breath- that was a home. A place only they had. She tilted his chin and he gave it gladly; blushed at the kiss on his nose. At this distance he felt her heart through his. He rested his cheek atop Trish's hair. "Are people always this warm so close?" She asked. "I dunno. Never checked." "I guess we found out anyway." He heard the sleepiness in her voice. She grew heavier against him; relaxed into his shape. He looked down to find her eyes closed. Trish wrapped her arm tighter around his waist. He returned the favor as she slept. Narancia felt himself tire. Trish was the warmest heat he'd ever known. It could rage for him like a furnace one moment, then be gentler than sunlight. He blinked hard and fast. Never took his gaze off Trish. To hell if he was tired. He didn't want to miss a moment. Never one to deny his impulses he kissed her eyes. She made a soft noise against him. Like dusk to dawn the present became the past. The need to rest his body weighed upon him began to win. Before he could drift away his mind showed him a fleeting image. He was alone again. Damp and dirty and his bandaged eye burning. Two years ago that kind of night blended into the next without end. He'd clutch his only blanket tight; his only comfort against death or cold or despair. Narancia glanced at Trish a final time. The helpless boy of then rested into the arms of his blanket, his safety. He'd never slept so soundly.

Anthing else max/liz
“I need to ask you something,” Max says, “non-out of this world related.”
He looks nervous and Liz wonders what’s going on. Not huge alien nervous but nervous in a way that makes him look much smaller than he is. She reaches out and grasps his hand, smiling gently to try and show she’s here for him. His lips quirk up before he looks at the table.
“How did you know Rosa was bi?” He asks. Her eyes widen, “sorry,” he says quickly, “I just—“
“No, It’s okay,” Liz says quickly, squeezing his hand. Rosa never comes up. Her death does occasionally but not her. “She told me.”
Max nods and his cheeks start to turn pink.
“Michael told me,” he says, “I, uh, I thought he was gay. I know he’s slept with girls but—“ he shakes his head, “look I want to support him but I keep sticking my foot in my mouth about it. Your sister was, so I was hoping you could—“
“Share tips on having a bisexual sibling?” She finishes, giving one of those smiles he swears he can feel down to his toes. He shrugs helplessly and she chuckles, “I don’t think there’s a road map for it. I said the wrong thing plenty of times.”
Max nods and tries not to look disappointed. Liz wishes there was an easy fix for it. Unfortunately there isn’t. Unless—
“Hang on,” she says, getting up and running into the back. In her dad’s office there’s a stash of books. She knows the one she’s looking for. It’s hidden behind a false cover that labels it a bird watching manual. She comes back and sits next to Max instead of across from him, “here.”
“Birds of North America?” He says.
“How did you keep that secret for twenty years?” She wonders aloud, peeling off the cover to show him the one underneath, “my dad got it, when he thought that was why Rosa was pulling away.”
Max smiles tightly and sadly.
“That happened a long time ago,” he says.
“So then pull him back.”
They both turn to see Arturo standing there. He looks at the book and the pair of them. Liz feels Max tense and almost smiles at the fact that he wants to stand up to greet her father. Like he hasn’t been coming in for years to check up on her in the only way he can. Arturo stands there and looks down at the book, something unreadable in his eyes. But when he looks up they’re serious.
“I’m no one to give advice but you’ll mess up. You have to keep trying,” he clears his throat, “I highlighted some of the pages. Stuff I thought was important to remember. Maybe it can help you.”
“Thank you. Sir.,” Max says. Liz’s smile vanishes as her father gets that look, “uh—“
“No no I like the Sir thing,” he says, “saves me from having to show you where I keep my special spices,” he adds, winking at Liz.
Max looks a bit shell shocked. Liz squeezes his knee which immediately refocuses him on her. Which, okay, she might kind of like. But she also likes that Max is trying to come to her with non alien things. It’s not as terrifying as she thought it would be. Just slightly scary which she pushes aside to focus on his kind, nervous face.
“I can do this one thing for him,” he says.
“Of course you can,” Liz tells him, like he’s not spectacular in fucking things like this up, “just listen to him,” she continues, “this isn’t one size fits all.”
The next day he’s back and looks even more distraught. The book is in his hands and it’s got an alarming number of flags a well. Liz comes over as he sits at the counter.
“Isobel is too.”
“Is what?” She asks.
“Bisexual. Not just because of the whole other thing,” he swallows, “She told me,” he grips the book like it’s a lifeline, “I’ve been screwing it up with both of them this whole time.”
Liz smiles sympathetically and Max’s face falls even more. Quickly she comes around and sits next to him again, making him focus on her instead of how badly he’s messed up by pressing their thighs together. He looks at her like she planned, hunching his shoulders miserably. Liz reaches up and pushes her hand through his dark waves. He closes his eyes for a moment and given the shadows under them, she thinks it might be the first time he’s done that in days.
“I think you’re being a good brother, trying to figure this out,” she says, “respecting this part of them is a big deal around here, even if it shouldn’t be.”
Something dark and pained echos in his eyes. She wonders if he’s thinking of how everyone was in high school to Alex or just the little things that happen every day he probably never thought much about. Sometimes she wonders what it would be like to be a straight white guy. But Max probably wonders that too. She runs her fingers though his hair again.
“What about you?” She asks, “are you bi?”
“No,” he says, but while the n starts out with the voice of a sixteen year old idiot jock, by the time the o comes out it’s much softer. He clears his throat, “no,” he says, “just in love with you.”
She smiles and his gaze goes from tortured or embarrassed to pleased.
“Good answer,” She says, “though you know dating someone of the opposite gender doesn’t make you less bisexual.”
“That I got,” He says, “Michael’s slept with a lot of girls and Isobel,” he winces, “That’s more complicated,” he looks at her, “this doesn’t seem like a big deal in the scheme of things but it’s—i want to do it right.”
“I think it is a big deal,” Liz says, “and you will,” she glances over his shoulder, “look. You’ve got your shot.”
Michael steps in looking like a bad hangover and winces when Liz drops her hand.
“Can i sit or is the petting going to continue?” He says.
“I have two hands, I could pet you too,” she offers cheekily. Michael balks, “i’m kidding. I’d get stuck in those curls.”
“Your girlfriend’s being mean,” he says to Max, but sits only one seat over which Max will take as a victory. Michael looks at him, “jesus what happened to you? You look like you haven’t slept in days.”
“My fault,” Liz volunteers impulsively Max turns to look at her, “and i am going to go think about what i did. Long and hard—“
“Don’t do that,” Michael says, something pleading in his voice, “long hard and him are not things i want to hear in the same sentence.”
Liz goes, tucking the book against her chest as she does. Max looks like he wants to call her back but she goes. After a moment he squares up and shifts over another seat so they’re sitting together. Michael makes a noise and picks up a menu. But he doesn’t move away.
It’s a start.

#SaveShadowhunters Media Highlights: UPDATED
Here are a collection of media highlights from articles that have been written post-cancellation. To view the original articles, please use the links included via each media outlet’s name.
Week #1
JUNE 5, 2018
Just Jared: “Shadowhunters fans are the best fans there are.”
JUNE 9, 2018
Buzzfeed Community: “It’s not hard to imagine why the show has become so important to the LGBTQ+ community, as a genre show that accepts, normalises and embraces these characters. It seems clear that the fans of the show have decided if they can’t save their show, they can at least save some lives.”
TV After Dark: “Shadowhunters fans are dedicated, passionate and loyal. What more could you ask for in a fan? From the moment the show was announced back in 2015 the fans have always been behind the show, showing their support and their willingness to act on something when it is needed. This cancellation is not only breaking their hearts but also telling them that all their effort and enthusiasm is not being considered or is not making a difference at all.”
TV After Dark: “ One thing is for sure, never underestimate the power of the Shadowhunters fandom, they are a force to be reckoned with. To the fans, we encourage you to keep fighting and being as vocal as you are being so far. You are an example of what a lot of shows wish their followings would be, but only a few, like Shadowhunters, get to experience.”
JUNE 10, 2018
CarterMatt: “When it comes to petitions to save shows from cancellation, often they can have varying effects. When they only muster a few thousand signatures, they can be a little bit easier to ignore. However, once you get past the 30,000 or so range, they start to become quite a bit deal. The one to save Shadowhunters is nearing 100,000 internet signatures over on Change.org, and that’s a figure that you absolutely cannot ignore. Let’s put this in a little bit of a deeper perspective. On average, Shadowhunters season 3 is watched live in America by almost 400,000 people. While we understand that not every signer of said petition is located in the United States, that’s still an incredible ratio of petitioners to viewers. It’s one of the best we’ve seen. It’s another reminder of how active and engaged this fandom is — it has long been one of the largest social shows on all television and that certainly isn’t changing now.”
The Series Regulars: “So in other words, this is not just a show to the fans. It is a reflection of what they have experienced in their own lives. The show’s storylines give them the courage and strength to know their own importance in life. Having this show on air has helped so many individuals.”
Week #2
JUNE 11, 2018
CarterMatt: “This all shows the power of fandom — it’s so much more important than cynical people will ever recognize. You form emotional connections to shows when they are on and they become a key part of your life. With a show like Shadowhunters, that’s probably true more so than most other shows out there just because it carries with it such a strong, inspirational message of inclusion and equality.”
Film Daily: “It’s also worth noting that Shadowhunters fans are some of the most passionate you’ll find online. To many, it’s more than just a TV show – it’s a lifeline offering diverse and powerful LGBTQI representation, progressive depictions of gender, and thoughtful reflections on current social issues.”
Film Daily: “At this stage, the Shadowhunters fandom are much more than just a collective of people who love the show; it’s become a movement rooted within popular culture. With such impassioned efforts by fans to save Shadowhunters and to support LGBTQI young people who may draw strength and acceptance from the show, it’s ludicrous to imagine that not one single network or SVOD would step up to save it.”
Film Daily: “Why an SVOD service like Netflix would allow for the cancellation of a show with a colossal fan base like Shadowhunters is quite frankly bewildering in that respect. Streaming should be the saviour of television when it comes to fringe shows with huge fan followings and it’s a mistake to underestimate the power of such fandoms.”
Hidden Remote: “Showrunner Todd Slavkin has showed support for the fundraiser, but Freeform has been silent so far. Several fans reported that after they had posted the donation link on the official Shadowhunters Facebook page, that the links were later deleted. However, It’s unclear whether someone who runs the account is actually deleting the posts, or if Facebook is filtering them out as spam links without Freeform’s knowledge. Regardless, we hope that Freeform will help support the fundraising campaign by sharing the donation site on their official social media pages soon.”
JUNE 12, 2018
Buzzfeed Community: “The Shadowhunters fans could permanently damage Freeform’s reputation among millennials if they don’t make a statement soon. Do Freeform think by staying quiet the fans will eventually go away and let this be forgotten? It hasn’t worked so far, and frankly, I’m not sure the biggest movement in cancellation history can be forgotten.”
Talk Nerdy With Us: “To call the Shadowhunters fanbase fervent would be a gross understatement. Try: wildly passionate, driven, loyal and LOUD. Right now, they’re raising their voices in unison to save their beloved show.”
Talk Nerdy With Us: “Read the hashtag threads and you’ll see one thing repeated over and over – representation matters. Not only does the show boast one of the most diverse casts ever seen on TV, it broke new ground by prominently featuring gay, lesbian, bisexual and asexual characters in healthy, loving, non-stereotyped roles.”
Talk Nerdy With Us: “Whoever acquires Shadowhunters one thing’s for certain – they will gain a massive fan base with the potential for major bank in tie-in products alone, something that’s sorely been lacking as far as the Shadowfam is concerned.”
TV Series Hub: “What makes Shadowhunters so different than other shows is how hardworking, creative, and inspiring the fans are. With over 2+Million tweets on twitter using the hashtags #SaveShadowhunters and #PickUpShadowhunters this fandom is not going to rest and will not be quieting down any time soon. The fans have also crashed the support links for major streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.”
TV Series Hub: “Freeform’s reasoning behind the show’s cancellation was strictly economical but fans are finding it very hard to believe. When Shadowhunters announced they were going to have a third season it became evident that the lack of promo was going to be the downfall for this show. [...]  Catching the attention for more audience members is no use when the show’s junior season was limited to tweets from Freeform and Shadowhunters main social media accounts.”
JUNE 13, 2018
CarterMatt: “We have full confidence that the showrunners will do their best to come up with a worthy ending if they have to … but why should they have to? [The Teen Choice Awards are] another cause for fans to fight for on social media.”
JUNE 14,  2018
BuzzFeed Community: “What their PR and social media team are thinking is anyone’s guess, but it does not make the company look good. Snubbing actors as beloved as the Shadowhunters cast alone has angered the fans, and their Twitter continues to be unrecognisable as a respectable, professional platform while the fans bombard every posts’ comments with demands for the licensing to be sold so the show can be continued. Their silence is both troubling and the source of their troubles, at least for the foreseeable future.”
CarterMatt: “Do we think that Freeform anticipated some serious backlash over the decision to end the show? Probably, but we have a hard time imagining that they thought it would be on this sort of extreme level. The cancellation has reverberated through multiple fan communities and it is giving everyone motivation to fight to save something that they care about deeply.”
ScreenSpy: “Shadowhunters fans continue to be one of the most awesome fandoms on the internet.”
ScreenSpy: “Shadowhunters was a rare beast among recent broadcast TV shows in that it created space for a grounded love story between two LGBTQ characters, Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) and Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.), that was neither sabotaged, nor ended in a dissatisfying yet familiar breakup/death trope seen in myriad other shows from Supergirl to The 100. In fact, #Malec was often portrayed as the stable emotional core of the series, while other straight couples bore the emotional brunt of sudden deaths, breakups and heated arguments. That the fans have singled out The Trevor Project is telling, and illustrates the compassion and generosity of this unique fandom.”
JUNE 15, 2018
CarterMatt: “So what can be done now for Shadowhunters? First and foremost be inspired, since what happened with Lucifer can almost certainly happen here. It’s an uphill climb, but getting more of Lucifer was also an uphill climb. Think of this as more motivation to keep fighting, trending on social media, and discussing the show. Be organized, and try to come up with specific hashtags to trend and times to trend. Show some of the potential homes out there that you are willing to subscribe to their products.Above all else, be positive and hopeful and stick together — a little bit of unity can go a long way. While there are still twelve more episodes coming for Shadowhunters, those by no means have to be the end. Fingers crossed that they aren’t.”
JUNE 16, 2018
CarterMatt: “There hasn’t been any word out there as to potential other homes for the show, but at the same time there wasn’t all that much in the way of news out there about the Lucifer revival before it happened at Netflix. Sometimes, negotiations happen under a veil since you don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up in the event that plans fall through.”
JUNE 17, 2018
CarterMatt: “You can see after the fact in some photos from the convention that the entire cast was emotional and some were in tears, which is clearly another reminder that they all love the show and certainly don’t want to let it go. The effort to Save Shadowhunters has been going strong now for a good stretch of time and at this point, it only seems to picking up steam.”
Week #3
JUNE 19, 2018
Buzzfeed Community: “A lack of official statement by all of these parties has not helped matters, none of whom seem willing to speak publicly, but the real casualty of this misinformation and false hope is the fans. Fans are desperate for news, and I would argue the fans deserve better from all of these companies.”
CarterMatt: “We do think there is still a reason for hope, but saving a show is always an uphill battle and will take a lot of effort from fans in order to make it happen. Just remember to keep your voices heard and stay unified — we’ve seen via the past couple of months that anything is possible, even if there are no guarantees.”
The Series Regulars: “No matter what happens, it is clear this show is worth fighting for. Don’t give up.”
JUNE 20, 2018
Zimbio: “If you ever doubted the power of fandom, then you’re in for a major surprise.”
Zimbio: “It’s no secret that Magnus and Alec’s relationship is the anchor of the show. Malec shippers are ride or die to the end and for good reason. Shadowhunters has empowered viewers to be kind to one another amidst adversity and live out their truth.”
JUNE 21, 2018
Entertainment Tonight: “The Shadowhunters fans are channeling their heartache into helping others.”
Entertainment Tonight: “ET reached out to Freeform for a response to the Shadowhunters fandom’s charity efforts, but the network declined to comment.”
Entertainment Tonight: “While the fate of Shadowhunters’ future remains to be seen, it’s clear that hell hath no fury like a fandom scorned – and these fans are using their passion and power to make a positive impact.”
JUNE 22, 2018
CarterMatt: “As you can see in the photos below, the plane is making its way around Netflix sporting the message #SaveShadowhunters as clear as the message can be. It’s really the perfect day for such a banner to fly, given that we’re talking about blue skies and very few clouds. Basically, what we’re trying to say here is that Netflix has to take notice of this. Whether or not they take action remains to be seen but this is clearly one of the biggest displays of fandom possible.”
CarterMatt: “We’ll see if this amounts to anything, but even if it doesn’t, you have to admire greatly the passion and enthusiasm of the fans who wanted to make it happen. They banded together for this in a way very few fandoms do.”
Digital Spy: “It’s official: there’s perhaps no fanbase more dedicated than that of Shadowhunters.”
Hypable: “Behind the hashtag is a movement for promoting what the show promotes every week — passion, loyalty, and the fight to not only survive, but make the world better.”
Hypable: “Loyalty to the seeing the show live on is only one bit of what this fandom has chosen to do during the waiting period. Banding together in the face of uncertainty, utilizing the powers they can tap into (social media, planes, charity), the Shadowhunters fandom is following in the footsteps of their favorite characters.”
TV After Dark: “The Shadowhunters fans keep proving they are a force to be reckoned with.”
TV After Dark: “If we track the numbers from the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag, the tweets cross over the 8 million mark, and that’s only counting one of the hashtags they have been using. They have at least 5 more that they use according to the day they tweet. They are impressibly organized and have even a google document set out with their tweeting plans with the hopes of getting all the fans in the same channel and under the same schedule.”
TV After Dark: “Another thing the Shadowhunters fans are proving to be is very clever. They know how to work with what they have. If they see their show is not getting the promotion it deserves, they create it themselves.”
TV After Dark: “If there is one thing that the #SaveShadowhunters campaign has proven is that the show has it all to succeed, it only needs to be given a proper treatment and the chance to grow. Shadowhunters is making headlines all over the world right now. The decision to cancel the show right when it is taking off and with a season as strong as their current season is right now is probably one of the worst we’ve seen made on TV so far. The show is not ready to say goodbye yet and the cast and the fandom are not ready to let it go. With a fandom as passionate as the Shadowhunters fandom is, you can’t just expect them to stay quiet and not fight for what they believe in.”
TV After Dark: “The Teen Choice Awards nominations help us make a point, Shadowhunters is probably the most successful show its network has right now.If they doesn’t recognize it, we sure hope that another network can step in and see what they are missing. Shadowhunters has everything it takes for a show to be successful. We just really hope that someone listens up and realizes why giving up on it right now is a big mistake.”
TV After Dark: “To all the fans out there, keep being loud and doing what you are doing. Nothing is impossible when it comes to saving TV shows. We continue to stand with you and we truly admire everything that you have accomplished so far.”
JUNE 24, 2018
Clevver TV: “Since Freeform announced that they officially canceled Shadowhunters, fans have been doing everything possible to fight the decision. They’ve protested online, vented their love for the show and even raised over $11,000 to prevent it from saying its final goodbye. It goes without saying, but these stans are seriously dedicated.”
Week #4
JUNE 25, 2018
CarterMatt: “Just think of things this way, if you are a Netflix, an Amazon, an Apple, or any other streaming platform — how impressed are you going to be in the event that #SaveShadowhunters is trending so long after it was initially canceled? It’s a real sign that this is a fandom that isn’t going away and with that, it’s worthy of your time and attention.”
The Nerd Daily: “So why would a network cancel such a show that combines so many unique characters and storylines? Economic reasons seems questionable and it doesn’t seem like a suitable explanation for the Shadowhunters fandom.”
The Nerd Daily: “Never before was friendship made into a source of strength, and for me, this is one of the most beautiful description of friendship I have ever seen in a TV show and it’s also reflected in the fandom. A lot of friendships have been made since the show aired thanks to social media and conventions.”
The Nerd Daily: “The fandom are making their thoughts loud and clear so that they can be heard. Every tweet Freeform makes receives hundred of #SaveShadowhunters comments, even though the tweet is not always related to the show.”
JUNE 26, 2018
Girlfriend: “We’ve seen many beloved shows canceled over the years, but none have garnered the response in fans that Shadowhunters has.”
JUNE 27, 2018
Hidden Remote: “The Shadowhunters fandom has unified and rallied together over the past several weeks to fight for a fourth season pick-up. Inspired by fans from other series that were also canceled (and revived) this year, Shadowhunters fans have used Twitter power-hours, strategic messaging and emailing with networks, and have now kicked their marketing up a notch. And when I say “up,” I mean sky-high.”
Hidden Remote: “What fans didn’t realize in their Netflix-targeted planning, however, was that the show’s writers room (which is currently working on the 2-hour series finale) was also in sight of the plane banner. Even if the #ShadowhuntersPlane is unsuccessful at getting a season 4 pick-up, it was absolutely successful in showing the cast, writers, and creative team just how much they are loved and supported.”
JUNE 28, 2018
CarterMatt: “This is the second straight week where the fan base has come out with some sort of big move to get the attention of various networks / streaming homes. This follows their move to fly an airplane banner over Netflix — this time around, there is no specific provider that fans are seeking out, which means that this sort of move could catch the attention of just about anyone. In between this, raising more than $17,000 for The Trevor Project, and campaigning constantly across social media, these are fans who are determined and are not giving up.”
CarterMatt: “While networks may be big business and often have to think in terms of the bottom line, rest assured that many of them also want to be loved! Imagine how much goodwill would come out of one of these networks opting to bring Shadowhunters back on the air. We’re sure that there are some potential homes out there who are well aware of that and would embrace the opportunity to make many fans happy by releasing some great news on the subject of one of their favorite shows.”
The Series Regulars: “To put things into perspective, the campaign has been going strong since we first talked about the fandom effort to save the show.. Not only have they reached over 9 million tweets with the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag, but they have also raised over $17,000 for The Trevor Project. In addition, they have also raised awareness for Girls Up and have even created Shadowhunters Merchandise with proceeds going to charity as well.”
The Series Regulars: “With how much the campaign to save the show has accomplished already, we are looking forward to seeing what else they can do!”
JUNE 29, 2018
CarterMatt: “The act of [having a billboard] itself is impressive, largely because there are so few fandoms who have tried some of the things that the Shadowhunters fandom have with this sort of scale. They’ve really put their best foot forward in trying to save the show using passion and positive energy. We love the idea of this, just as much as we love the fact that every possible home out there can see this and realize that this is a fandom that is not going away.”
CarterMatt: “For now, congratulations to all Shadowhunters supporters — regardless of what happens, you’ve got a lot to be proud of for all of your efforts.”
Digital Spy: “Shadowhunters fans truly are a dedicated bunch! On Friday (June 29), the fans made good on their promise to take out a billboard in Times Square in hopes of saving their favourite show. Good luck to the #SAVESHADOWHUNTERS brigade!”
JUNE 30, 2018
CarterMatt: “The efforts to try to save the show are noticed and very much appreciated. For some more insight into that, all you have to do is look at some of the latest reactions to Friday’s Times Square billboard via show executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin.”
CarterMatt: “We don’t think that the efforts to save the show behind the scenes are over and done with yet, either. If there was no hope that the series could find a future home, don’t you think that message would be conveyed? The last thing that anyone wants to do is allow fans to hold onto false hope, and with that, we don’t exactly think that is happening here, either.”
The Series Regulars: “We spoke with Brie, the editor in chief of Basic Shadowhunters Stuff about their contributions and collaboration with the fandom and other sites/accounts. She emphasized that the goal behind these efforts is to “be loud” and take any steps possible to display the devoted passion that fans have for Shadowhunters, and we have to say, this loyal fanbase has been doing one hell of an amazing job.”
The Series Regulars: “The Shadowhunters fandom is extremely loyal, and people all around the world have banded together to do what they can to make their voices heard. This has included campaigns such as the Times Square billboard, tweeting out to anyone and everyone, and sending out emails voicing their passion for the series. It has been a group effort, and everyone has been in constant communication to make all these campaigns come together. Isn’t fandom such a wonderful thing?”
Week #5
JULY 2, 2018
CarterMatt: “Think about that. Ten million tweets. That’s an expression of passion that is almost unprecedented since we are talking about a series that was canceled on June 4.”
CarterMatt: “So how much does this threshold help the show? We actually think it’s one of the biggest achievements made during the campaign to save the show so far. One of the things that you do need to remember is that network executives are often very busy, and with that they don’t have the time in which to look at every single tweet or thing that the fandom is doing to save the show. It’s often helpful to have some sort of big, headline-making announcement that they can look at and understand easily. That’s what the plane banner was, and the same goes for the billboard and the donations for the Trevor Project. Here, they can just see the number 10 million and have their jaws hit the ground.”
Clevver TV: “After raising thousands of dollars, getting millions of signatures and even buying a freakin’ planeto fly over the Netflix headquarters, Shadowhunters fans are back at it again with another attempt to save the show from cancellation. What’s left for them to do, you may ask? Oh, just casually purchasing a billboard in New York City’s Times Square.”
Clevver TV: “It’s been almost a month since it was announced that Freeform would not be renewing Shadowhunters for a fourth season, but fans are showing no signs of slowing down their efforts to getting the network (or a different network/streaming service) to change its mind. They have a TON of reasons why the show shouldn’t be canceled, so we think it’s safe to assume the fight will continue for a long time.”
Netflix Life: “Many fans are still feeling blindsided by this news, but even more, fans are not mourning the loss of the show. Rather, they’re fighting to save the show and the fan movement has responded in a big way.”
Netflix Life: “It’s a huge success abroad where the series streams on various regions on Netflix, but unfortunately, it’s not on Netflix US. It would make for a wise investment by Netflix to consider saving the show once it finishes its run on Freeform next year.
Netflix Life: “I do know the fans will never stop fighting for the show to continue. That’s something McNamara has been blown away by in the last month since the news broke.”
JULY 5, 2018
CarterMatt: “The fandom’s been global for many years now, but there are more examples of its international popularity now than potentially ever before.”
CarterMatt: “How much are things like banners and advertisements helping? We think personally they’re probably more impactful than many out there are giving them credit for. It’s something that is physical and tangible that executives can look at. If they are on the fence about picking up Shadowhunters, maybe this will convince them to give the series a closer look. The biggest thing that all of these campaigns achieve is reminding everyone in the industry that Shadowhunters fans are out there and cannot be forgotten about. What makes this particular campaign stand out is not only the resiliency of it, but also the creativity and the dedication from people involved.”
Netflix Life: “There are very few shows that have a loyal fanbase like Shadowhunters. More of these types of fanbases have come out in recent years, with the likes of Timeless and Lucifer, but the Shadowhunters fans have taken things to a whole new level. If Netflix was worried about fan commitment, then the recent efforts to save the series would help to ease them.”
Netflix Life: “No other fandom has been quite as vocal and loyal.”
Netflix Life: “And this has become more of a family than anything else. Fans have found their tribe in social media groups and platforms. They’ve celebrated births and marriages, they’ve commiserated deaths together, and they’ve supported one another in dark times—and these are in real life situations and not just the events within the series.”
Netflix Life: “If you take a look at any relationship poll for TV shows, you’ll see the shipper name Malec up there. This is the Shadowhunter ship of Alec and Magnus, one of the most progressive, positive, and public LGBTQ relationships on TV. There are very few that even come close.”
Netflix Life: “The show is all about inclusivity (unless you’re a demon from the Shadow World, of course!) and wants to encourage more growth when it comes to people of color and LGBTQ relationships. Netflix needs to encourage that more. It’s already canceled Everything Sucks! Don’t let Shadowhunters go too! This representation is extremely necessary.”
Netflix Life: “With the right marketing, Netflix could help this series grow in the way that it should. More people around the world can learn about it and tune in for every episode. The series would gain better treatment than ever before, helping it become the book adaptation of the generation. There is certainly potential there and it needs a streaming service like Netflix to take that up.”
JULY 6, 2018
CarterMatt: “You can see via the posts on Twitter below that there is a collaborative book coming entitled Love Makes Us Stronger, one that is meant to show many different networks and shows everything that they have done to date in order to work to make another season happen. This is a series that knows no bounds and is showing, time and time again, that fans will do whatever it takes in order to ensure that there is more of the story told. This book is meant to be delivered to not only many different prospective networks, but then also The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which we do think would be a wonderful venue to discuss the series and its hopes at another season further.”
Pure Fandom: “It’s impossible to deny that the Shadowhunters fandom is made up of the most devoted fans to date.”
Pure Fandom: “In all my years following television, the uproar over Shadowhunters’ cancellation is probably one of the biggest ones I’ve ever seen.”
Pure Fandom: “With a fanbase this big and powerful, it looks like the decision to drop Shadowhunters may not have been a good call on Freeform’s part.Fans’ efforts to #PickUpShadowhunters is still going strong, and we’re with you! We’ll keep fighting until Shadowhunters finds a new home!”
JULY 8, 2018
CarterMatt: “Basically, the message that we’re trying to get across here is rather simple: Sometimes, no news can be good news. Just because it seems like networks and streaming providers are ignoring Shadowhunters doesn’t mean that they are avoiding picking up the show’s future.”
Week #6
JULY 9, 2018
CarterMatt: “What’s the objective with this particular hashtag? It’s a way to show more just how much this show is beloved all over the world, and in turn the sheer number of fans who stand to be let down in the event that Shadowhunters does not end up finding a home somewhere else.”
JULY 11, 2018
CarterMatt: “For now, our advice is the same: Keep doing what you’re doing in making sure that your voices are heard.
Hypable: “From billboards in Times Square to subway stops on Korea to planes flying over Netflix, there is no limit to what this fandom will continue to do to drive awareness to their passion and love for the series. In addition to the flashier efforts, the fans have also raised a considerable about of money for charitable causes in the name of saving the show. Practicing what the show portrays every week, the fans are aiding those who need help the most, even as they struggle with their own disappointment.”
Just Jared: “And yes, they see you with the #SaveShadowhunters campaign.Martin shared that the company is ‘amazed by the dedication and persistence of the incredible fandom of Shadowhunters and the #SaveShadowhunters campaign. We are in ongoing discussions with the network and Netflix to how we can continue to bring Cassandra Clare’s vision to television.’”
JULY 12, 2018
CarterMatt: “Recently, Martin Moszkowicz and Oliver Berben of production company Constantin Film were sent a rather generous amount of Shadowhunters-themed M&Ms, ones that were decorated with familiar show iconography alongside the message to #SaveShadowhunters. Both parties shared photos of the candy on social media, which we like to think that there is some commitment there to the cause.”
CarterMatt: “Typically, the easiest way to tell whether or not someone really wants to come back to a show is whether or not they acknowledge the effort that is going on with fans. We do think that everyone at Constantin wants Shadowhunters back since it is a way for them to earn extra money.”
ClevverTV: “Shadowhunters fans are doing everything — literally EVERYTHING — to save their favorite show from being canceled.”
JULY 13, 2018
CarterMatt: “How much sway could Korea’s audience have in saving the show internationally? If the outreach is enough, a bit more than many would immediately assume. Seoul is one of the biggest markets in the world with an active, engaged young audience. These are the sort of people who will celebrate an inclusive, action-packed show that makes you care about its characters.”
CarterMatt: “Basically, remember that sometimes, saving a show is a marathon rather than a sprint and it can take so much longer than anyone would anticipate from the jump.”
CarterMatt: “Just in case you needed a reminder as to how busy Katherine McNamara is at the moment, she did this table read on Thursday, then flew out to Milan in order to be present for fans at the Italian Institute Con this weekend. That is dedication! It’s a also a reminder of how much she loves her fans given that this is a pretty emotional time.”
CarterMatt: “If there is one thing that is probably serving as the wind under the sails for many cast members, it’s this: No matter what is going on with production of these remaining two episodes, the #SaveShadowhunters movement continues.”
Cinema Blend: “Fans of Freeform’s Shadowhunters are not giving up on their show without a fight. Taking their battle to streaming networks such as Netflix and Amazon, the hope to be heard and the effort to save the beloved series has only grown stronger.”
KSiteTV: “Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz told Deadline that Constantin is “amazed by the dedication and persistence of the incredible fandom of Shadowhunters and the #SaveShadowhunters campaign, and that they are “in ongoing discussions with the network and Netflix to how we can continue to bring Cassandra Claire’s vision to television.” Okay, then make it happen already.I’m not without hope, and fans shouldn’t be either. But really, Freeform, Constantin: Talk it over. Negotiate. You’re sitting on a gold mine. #SaveShadowhunters.”
The Fandom: “But this fandom is not going down without a fight. So far, the fans have tweeted #SaveShadowhunters over 10 million times, flew a plane with a #SaveShadowhunters banner around Netflix’s LA headquarters, rented two billboards in Times Square and most impressively, it’s raised over $20,000 for various charities.Even as I write this post, the fandom’s been hard at work, running a month-long campaign in the Seoul subway and planning to soon hit London with double-decker bus ads. In a less grand fashion, fans have been flooding the mailboxes of network executives and it looks like network executives are paying attention.”
Week #7
JULY 16, 2018
AnneMoss.com: “For many people, these characters have been the first time that they have seen each other fully represented on a TV screen.Heartbreaking testimonials can be found all over the Internet of people who would be in a significantly worse place without this show. In short, it has saved lives.”
JULY 19, 2018
CarterMatt: “While there may not be a formal Shadowhunters panel at Comic-Con this year, the folks behind the effort to save the show have still found a way to have their voice heard. Specifically, they are doing it in the form of pedicabs with the #SaveShadowhunters message front and center.”
CarterMatt: “We do think that out of all of the fun ideas we’ve seen with Shadowhunters, this is one of the most valuable given that there are hundreds of thousands of TV fans crammed into a small space the next few days; meanwhile, you’ve also got a number of network executives and other important industry people around. You never know when someone is going to stumble across something you’ve created! It’s another reason to have hope if you are a diehard Shadowhunters fan.”
Digital Spy: “We’ve seen political campaigns less organised than this. Bravo, Shadowhunters stans.”
JULY 20, 2018
CarterMatt: “These expressions of support by the fans go a long way. If nothing else, they are a clear reminder that Shadowhunters is a show that other networks / streaming providers should consider bringing back for more.”
CarterMatt: “Also, Comic-Con is one of the perfect venues to make a big campaign statement — there are probably more people from the entertainment industry concentrated in one place here than any other TV-related event out there, save for maybe the Emmys or the Golden Globes.”
Film Daily: “If you ever needed infallible proof that fandoms rule TV shows (and not the other way around), you need to be keeping up with the Shadowhunters fandom and more specifically the #SaveShadowhunters campaign. These aren’t just the most passionate and vocal fans – they’re also the most organized and resourceful.”
Film Daily: “Like almost everything at the SDCC, the pedicabs are open to sponsorship from advertisers – but this may be the first time they’ve commandeered by fans in a bid to make a provocative statement that could save a show. Like most other networks, Freeform has a presence at the convention and we can’t imagine that this stunt will sit well with the network, but that’s precisely the point. Shadowhunters fans will not allow for their show to go and are fighting the cancellation with everything they’ve got. Which makes us wonder at this point why Shadowhunters hasn’t been saved yet. If this campaign has proven anything, it’s that there’s a tangible and sizeable fanbase attached to the show more than worthy of investing in.”
Film Daily: “Whatever happens, the Shadowhunters fans are absolutely killing it right now. For them not to see the story back on the small (or big) screen again is almost unfathomable. Someone, somewhere, has to take charge now and make this happen – the fans absolutely deserve it.”
Just Jared: “The Save Shadowhunters campaign is not slowing down. If anything, it’s heating up.”
JULY 22, 2018
CarterMatt: “Yang’s appearance gives even more credibility to the campaign, which of course already had quite a bit of it thanks to some social-media acknowledgement from everyone from executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer to stars Katherine McNamara and Isaiah Mustafa. (Read more about their reactions over at the link here.) There are clearly many who have taken note of the campaign down at SDCC, which also includes promotional flyers and buttons.”
Hidden Remote: “Jack Yang, who plays Asmodeus on the series, stopped by SDCC today cosplaying as his own character. Not only did he want to come see the pedicab, but he even jumped in! [...] The Shadowhunters pedicabs aren’t able to travel all the way to Edom, but we hope Asmodeus had a fun time checking out the Shadowhunters representation at SDCC!”
Week #8
JULY 23, 2018
CarterMatt: “Just in case you were wondering how popular Shadowhunters really was at San Diego Comic-Con, let’s just say that it achieved a really rare feat: Social-media dominance without even having a panel at the event.  Per the tweet (via Alex Zalben) below, the currently-canceled series was the fifth most-tweeted-about show during the convention this year. It was ahead of such staples as Arrow, Supergirl, and The Flash, and even one of the other most-popular shows on social media out there in Wynonna Earp. The only ones that fared better were The Clone Wars, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and Voltron — which are all properties that have been around for an extremely long period of time.”
Decider: “Timeless, which dominated leading into the Con, and flew a helicopter around trying to save the show, didn’t break the top ten. But another fan favorite, canceled show did: Shadowhunters. The Freeform supernatural show didn’t have a panel at the convention, but it does have a legion of loyal fans tweeting to #SaveShadowhunters almost constantly. Hence the number five slot on the Twitter list.”
Hidden Remote: “By the angel, we think the #SaveShadowhunters campaign is going to love this. @TwitterTVreported today that Shadowhunters was the fifth most-tweeted show during San Diego Comic-Con. Freeform did not bring the series to SDCC like it had done in 2017, but even without a panel, autograph signing, or immersive activation, the show was still incredibly popular on Twitter.”
JULY 24, 2018
CarterMatt: “Following an excellent campaign over at San Diego Comic-Con involving a branded pedicab, flyers, and customized buttons, the Save Shadowhunters campaign is now looking rather rosy. How much so? Let’s just say that they have used as much flower power as possible to get some flower arrangements and customized cards to the Amazon Studios offices plus also Hulu, Netflix, and the offices of production company Constantin Film in Los Angeles. Consider these some further reminders from the Shadowhunters family that this is a fanbase that does not have any plans to give up on finding their show a new home.”
CarterMatt: “There is probably a sense of uncertainty on the set, not knowing precisely what the future of the series is; nonetheless, you have to imagine that it is enormously flattering for the cast and crew to routinely hear that there are so many people who want more of the show and also them as these characters. That does help in so many ways to ensure that they give their best performances possible.”
CarterMatt: “The best thing that any fan of the series can do right now is stay active, and stay engaged, when it comes to trying to save the show. Often, saving shows really is a marathon rather than a race, and networks / streaming providers need to realize that this is a group of fans who cannot be forgotten about.”
Film Daily: “After Freeform chose not to do a Shadowhunters panel at San Diego Comic Con for what could be the final ever season of the show (unless it’s rightfully saved), fans threw a sassy hair flip in Freeform’s general direction and set up their own celebration of the show. That celebration was part protest and part promotion in support of the ongoing #SaveShadowhunters campaign that has been ferociously demonstrated by fans since the young adult series was cancelled at the start of June. The centerpiece? A #SaveShadowhunters pedicab that circled SDCC.”
Film Daily: “According to a fan on Twitter, one especially cool driver let fans ride on the pedicabs for free, installed a speaker so the Shadowhunters theme tune “This is the Hunt” could be blasted on the journey, and also helped to hand out flyers in support of saving the show. But perhaps the crowning jewel of the #SaveShadowhunters efforts was the appearance of actor Jack Yang, who rocked up to SDCC in character as Asmodeus and rode that pedicab with all the brooding regal swagger of the legit Prince of Hell (cane and all).”
Film Daily: “It’s become clear that Shadowhunters is a show that revolves around unity and chosen family – for fans it offers a lifeline of connection that perhaps can’t be found within other more mainstream shows. It’s exactly what makes the show standout as a much cherished gem on social media, as Shadowhunters actually enjoyed a greater presence than other Freeform shows that were part of the official SDCC schedule.”
Film Daily: “It’s no surprise that during SDCC, the Pure Fandom Awards actually created a category specifically to acknowledge the Shadowhunters fandom by gifting them The 2018 Pure Fan-spiration Award. They deserve it, too. In the time since Shadowhunters has been cancelled, they’ve refused to remain silent and have shown they know how to vocalize their passion and turn it into action – even if it’s just from the periphery. They’re the most punk rock fandom out there right now and it’d be crazy not to listen to them and give them what they want.”
Future Femme: “The Shadowhunters yarn unravelled further over the weekend as the fandom took its campaign to save the venerated show to the San Diego Comic-Con. In case you have not yet been following this ongoing saga of legendary proportions, back in June, Freeform announced the cancellation of the genre show despite execs being “very happy creatively” – a decision that was based on ‘economic reasons.’”
Future Femme: “Like a group of valiant demon hunters, the reaction has been nothing short of Biblical. Launching a #SaveShadowhunters campaign, the dedicated fandom members took to Twitter to share their upset, but they haven’t stopped there and have found active ways to promote their campaign beyond the Twittersphere.”
Future Femme: “All of this is testament to the fandom’s dedication, highlighting a wider statement that shows how audiences now rule the TV shows they watch and not vice-versa. As the nature by which we watch television changes, it’s becoming increasingly evident that a show’s importance isn’t solely based on live metrics and economics anymore and that its story and significance goes beyond the conventional restrictions of entertainment consumption.Shadowhunters offers diverse storylines and depictions of LGBTQI and female characters with complexity that are unrivaled by other young adult shows on TV right now. The fantasy genre provides escapism for its viewers, but it’s also educational – Shadowhunters has strived to move forward with acceptance and inclusivity where others are falling behind and it’s for these reasons the fandom refuses to put down its battle weapons and will not give up in the face of adversity.“
Future Femme: “Another reason the Shadowhunters fandom is so ferociously fighting its corner is that the cast & crew were already teasing season four before the cancellation. This is not a show that has reached a creative dead end and it is certainly not one that fans don’t want to see more from – in fact, Shadowhunterswas the fifth most tweeted about show during this year’s SDCC and yet it didn’t even have an official panel at the event.”
Future Femme: “If the cry is loud enough, the networks have no choice but to listen. And when it comes to Shadowhunters, the outcry is so loud you can hear it from the Shadow World. Now it’s up to Freeform to react, or else risk losing this TV gem and its dedicated fandom for good.”
Week #9
JULY 30, 2018
Digital Spy: “Right now, Netflix isn’t in talks to save the supernatural drama series. But [Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content] did praise the show for having incredibly passionate fans. [...] ‘It has a very active fanbase. I probably get 100 emails or more personally.’ We bet the number of daily emails will double or triple in the wake of Holland's comments!”
Film Daily: “The Shadowhunters fandom has fought the cancellation of their show to the last. Accumulating over 149,000 signatures on a petition to save the show thus far, they’ve also managed to raise funds for a billboard campaign in Times Square, subway posters in Seoul, raised money for charity, and hired campaign-boosting pedicabs at SDCC. Kind of a big deal, ladies and gentlemen.”
Film Daily: “The overwhelmingly passionate fan base should be enough to convince anyone this is a show more than deserving of saving.”
Film Daily: “It seems ludicrous not to serve such a large and passionate fan base by saving Shadowhunters. Somebody has to come through and save this one.”
Pure Fandom: “I started watching in June and after I started my Shadowhunters watch, it didn’t take long for me to see the show’s magic that ignited such fire in the fandom. To put it simply, the show is amazing. It is inclusive, it is bold, the cast is crazy talented, it is visually stunning – but it wasn’t the show that made me fall instantly in love – it was this fandom.”
Pure Fandom: “You have not only managed to rally in the shadows, you have welcomed new members into the family (like me) and continued your messages of love and support for the cast, despite your frustration. You are angry, but you are channeling that anger into a series of productive projects including a charitable donation to the Trevor Project, a NYC Times Square billboard, flowers and cupcakes for the cast, a bike at SDCC and so much more!”
Pure Fandom: “Shadowhunters fans – I know you are tired, but thank you for fighting for this show that you love so much – that I love so much. You never made me feel like I couldn’t join your ranks and fight with you and for that, I am so grateful. Fandoms like this are few and far between and I will never take for granted that you welcomed me so effortlessly into yours.”
JULY 31,  2018
CarterMatt: “The Trevor Project fundraiser...has officially reached more than $20,000. That’s an incredible number when you think about just how many people it is going to help. This is taking the message of inclusion and acceptance from the show and finding a way to pay it forward. It’s something that is both powerful and important in so many ways beyond what we can possibly try and spell out here.”
CarterMatt: “The official petition to save the show has officially reached 150,000 signatures! Typically, we think that any petition that reaches more than 50,000 is showing itself as one that cannot be ignored; this one has reached three times that, and there is still so much further that it could go”
Hidden Remote: “Fans should be incredibly proud of the global efforts made over the past two months to support #SaveShadowhunters, which now feels more like a movement than a campaign. The fandom’s fundraiser for The Trevor Project crossed the $20,000 mark on Monday morning, and the donations continue to grow in honor of the series.”
Hidden Remote: “Shadowhunters fans show no signs of slowing down the fight to get a full fourth season for the series, and they continue to show love for the Toronto team during the last (known) days of production.”

Ummm... Can i request Rfa + V reacting to a MC who got disowned for being gay (it dosen't matter if It's female or male mc) It's super okay If you don't want to do this, i'm just gay and live for angst :) (Also i love your blog
This is a long one oh my gosh. I hope this is okay, nonny, and I really hope this didn’t happen to you!! My inbox is always open and, as a bisexual myself, I am a huge supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. I kept the MC gender neutral although the relationship with the characters is perceived as romantic!
Yoosung:
⭑ He’s honestly offended as fuck. You’d been dating for awhile now and, while you’d warned him that your parents may not accept it, he wasn’t expecting this.
⭑ “Get the hell out of our house,” your father snapped, pointing at the door, face stern and your own face blanched.
⭑ “Dad, please just hear me out,” you plead and his face remained hard and closed off, the only emotion showing being anger. Yoosung’s arm around your waist tightened into your skin just shy of painfully in his own anger.
⭑ “MC, please, just go,” your mother said at least having the right to look somewhat dejected about kicking their own child out of their house.
⭑ “You’d kick your own child out of the house just because they’re gay?” Yoosung asked incredulously, violet eyes blazing with barely contained rage and how your parents were treating you. You placed your hand on his chest in an attempt to placate him, knowing him getting angrier would only complicate things further.
⭑ “I don’t have a child. Not anymore,” your father snapped and startled tears fell down your face. Yoosung’s jaw clenched as he pulled your further into him, walking the both of you towards the door. He tried his best to remain vaguely civil, to not yell and scream at your parents for the way they were treating you. He slammed the door shut behind you both and held you in his arms.
⭑ “MC,” he murmured, brushing away your tears with his thumbs, liquid pooling in his own eyes. His usual cheerful, youthful exterior was gone, replaced by a sincerity you’d rarely seen him show, the seriousness of the situation ageing him. “I’m so sorry, MC. What—what can I do?” He asked, biting his lip and frowning when you shook your head.
⭑ “Take me home,” you whimpered and he nodded, leading you to the car and starting it up. He kept both hands on the wheel, he was a nervous driver, but kept sparing you glances, asking if you were okay, if there was anything he could do. Your sobs intensified once he pulled into a parking space outside of your shared apartment and he broke.
⭑ “MC, come here, come on, let’s get you inside, yeah?” He asked, helping you to your feet and out of the car, all but carrying you through the front door. The minute it was shut you collapsed into him, sobs wracking your body and tears staining his shirt.
⭑ “I’m sorry. I wanted them to accept me, to accept us,” you apologised and he’s shushing you, pulling you to the sofa and bundling you up in his arms tightly. His hand in your hair is a comfort and it momentarily distracts you from the pain in your chest that’s spreading throughout your body. You try to relish in the contact but it brings back your parents’ angry faces, the disappointment, the lack of hesitance before they completely disowned you.
⭑ “MC, come on sweetie, it’s okay!” He said, trying to keep his voice upbeat and reassure you despite knowing that it wasn’t, in fact, okay. You knew as much and his attempts at calming you did nothing but make you cry harder. With every tear that dripped from your eyes his rage grew as did his own sorrow.
⭑ In the end he called for a pizza and lined up your favourite movies. He knew nothing he could say would help in the moment, you were beyond consolable, but he could try and take your mind off of things, if only for a little while. He did everything he could to make you laugh, cracking silly jokes and even telling you he’ll stop playing LoLoL if you smiled just a little for him.
⭑ He ran you a bath after the pizza and movies were finished and crouched next to the tub, running his hands through your hair and rubbing your scalp gently as you leaned into his touched. He washed you tenderly and dried you off carefully, pulling an old t-shirt over your head as you put on a pair of underwear.
⭑ “I’ll always be here, MC. I could never leave you, and I’ll always be your family.”
Zen:
♪ He gets it. Boy does he actually bloody understand it. He knows the pain of having your family disapprove of you for things you can’t control, he knows what it’s like to be shunned and disowned. His own pain is fresh in his mind when he watches your parents kick you out, yelling at you about how you’re a disgrace, how all they wanted was a good child, a child who could make them proud.
♪ It was all he could do to not punch your father in the mouth as he spewed insults in your face while shoving you out of the door. ♪ He knew there was nothing he could do or say to make the pain stop, he knew all too well that it’s a wound only time can heal. So he settles for holding you up as you almost sink to the pavement and carrying you to the car, whispering mumbled reassurances and adoring words.

♪ His chin comes to rest on the crown of your head, words whispered against your hair, blowing the strands out slightly and you sniff, trying your best to quell the sobs rising in your chest. He holds you while you sob and scream, in both anger and utter despair. He holds you until your tears have run dry and your voice is hoarse. He holds you until you pull back.
♪ “I wanna go home,” you croak and he nods, eyes big and round and sad, looking up at you with sadness reflected in his ruby irises. He helps you into the passenger seat and straps you in, keeping one hand on your knee the entire time he drives, moving it only to change gears or indicate. His thumb rubs gentle circles into your skin, doing what he can to calm you in the short drive home.
♪ He carries you into his apartment, keeping your body cradled against his as he lays you onto the bed, sitting next to you and taking your hand in his own, thumb rubbing your skin as you stare at the wall blankly. He knows talking won’t help but he also knows that comfort can.

♪ “I’m sorry,” you whispered and he shook his head, pulling you even closer towards him and lacing his hands over your stomach, burying his face in the nape of your neck and inhaling your scent. “I wanted them to approve of us. Jaehee:
♨︎ Since her parents died when she young, she doesn’t have much experience with familial things. She wasn’t aware that they wouldn’t accept the both of you until you were shoved out of their house after visiting them and revealing the extent of your relationship. You were both too dumbfounded to even try to fight, angry and betrayed tears springing to your eyes.
♨︎ The evening air was cold, the feeling of frost dancing on the wind and you shivered from both the chill and emotions as the door was slammed in your face. Jaehee stood blinking at the door for a moment, surprise coursing through her before she came to her senses and turned to face you. Your face was pale and eyes wide, mouth slightly parted.
♨︎ “MC…” You stumbled forward into her arms, face pressed against the junction of her neck and shoulder, skin warm in the cold night. Her arms came to wrap around you, hands just rubbing your back as you closed your eyes and tried to steady your breathing. Your chest was tight, throat thick with emotion and her arms did little to quell the shaking in your body. “Let’s get you home,” she murmured, ushering you into the car and strapping you in before taking the wheel. The drive home was silent, pierced only by your sniffles and occasional sobs and her heart broke every time she heard them. Her hand fumbled for yours halfway through and you clutched onto it tightly, your fingers shaking.
♨︎ The apartment was dark and empty, the cafe below it shut up, and she set to work turning on the lights and getting you settled on the sofa. She sat down next to you, pulling you into her embrace once more and stroking your hair. She was warm and comfortable, she smelt like coffee and home and love and you snuggled further into her, seeking refuge from your emotions. Her arms tightened around your shaking frame as she pulled you closer to her, sighing softly into the dim light of the living room.
♨︎ “I—I’m sorry,” you apologised and she pulled back, confusion plain on her features as she regarded you with wide eyes.
♨︎ “You’re sorry?” She asked and you nodded, looking down at the blanket covering you, picking at a few loose threads on the material. You blinked back some tears and cleared your throat.
♨︎ “I wanted us to have a family. I know your parents are—I wanted mine to accept us,” you stuttered out, tears falling from your eyes and down your cheeks. She sighed and pulled you back against her, pressing her forehead against yours. She remained silent for a moment more, curling the strands of your hair around her finger, your breath mingling together, her eyes slipping shut in contentment. She steadied herself before saying,
♨︎ “MC. As nice as it would have been to have your family’s approval, we can be our own family,” You sniffed, closing your eyes and breathing in her scent. Our own family. You liked the sound of that.
Jumin:
₩ Boy is so confused. He’s not used to not being liked and being disliked by your parents is not one of his worries. It doesn’t even occur to him. So when they kick you both out of their house after a visit, spitting hateful words at the both of you and telling you to never come back, he can do little else other than blink and try to sort out the situation in his head.
₩ Your shaking frame and sobs break him out of his thoughts and his eyes widen slightly, hands reaching out and pulling you against his chest, his heartbeat thumping steadily in your ears. He engulfs you in his arms and holds you while your sob, his normally calm grey eyes turning stormy, anger rearing its head inside of him. He has half a mind to storm back into your house and give your parents a piece of his mind but he refrains. Aside from it having repercussions to you, it would be also highly unprofessional.
₩ “I’m so sorry,” you sobbed and his arms tightened around you, face burying into the crown of your head, your hair tickling his skin. He shook his head, pressing gentle kisses to your scalp until your sobs turned to hiccups and your tears ran dry. You refused to lift your head from his chest, his scent and heartbeat being your only lifeline as of now.
₩ “My darling, what do you need?” He asked, hands rubbing your back gently, voice tender and soft. You asked him to take you home, to bring around the car and he nodded, taking his phone from his pocket and dialling for Driver Kim.
₩ If Driver Kim was surprised to you in such a state, he didn’t show it. He remained as professional as ever, opening the door for both you and Jumin before once again sitting behind the wheel, starting the car engine with a hum. He did offer you a small, comforting smile in the car’s mirror and you returned it as best you could, ear still pressed against Jumin’s chest.
₩ The trip home was long and silent, punctuated by your sniffles and Jumin’s occasional sigh of frustration. Never in his life had he felt so helpless before. He was still shocked as to how your parents could outright disown you, spit such harsh words and all but shove you out of the door. It made his blood boil and his heartbreak.
₩ You must’ve fallen asleep at some point, the emotional exhaustion taking a toll on you as, when you woke up, it was to the rhythmic steps of Jumin as he carried you inside, your head lolling on his shoulder and his arms under your legs and back. You hummed contently, momentarily forgetting what had transpired earlier. He smiled down at you, leaning to press a kiss against your forehead as one of his guards opened the penthouse door for him.
₩ It wasn’t until he settled you down on the sofa, the last remnants of sleep ebbing away, that what had happened hit you like a brick wall. Fresh tears rolled down your face and Jumin’s face contorted briefly before it smoothed out once more. He sat down next to you, pulling you into his side as he played with your hair.
₩ “MC,” he started, pressing a kiss to your temple, “I know you’re upset and rightly so, but please try to refrain from blaming yourself.” You stopped, wondering how he could see through you so well, as if the walls to your heart and soul were mere glass to him.
₩ “I can’t. It’s— I should’ve known. I should’ve kept it to myself and—and—” You broke off into a sob and he’s highkey thinking about calling for his doctor to see if he can ease your pain. It’s a shame, he muses idly, that emotional pain is not as easily fixed as it’s physical counterpart.
₩ “It is obvious that your parents do not deserve to have a child as loving and perfect as you. It is truly their loss.” You closed your eyes and turned your face into his chest, inhaling his scent and trying to take refuge in his heartbeat. “Besides, I think this just shows that it is time to start our own family and make sure to not repeat the same mistakes.”
Seven/Saeyoung:
☾ He understands damaged families all too well. He knows how much it hurts to have parents who don’t care about you, how much it rips you apart when they want nothing to do with you. When the two of you are angrily shoved out of the door, harsh words being spat after you, his own heart breaks for you.
☾ His hurt turns to anger as you collapsed into his embrace, tears streaming from your wide eyes, pain etched into your beautiful features. You have to grab ahold of his arm to stop him from storming back in through the door and ruining your parents with angry words and insults. The fight drains out of him as you plead with him, words broken by your sobs, and he shushes you, pulling you back against him.
☾ Luckily his car is parked close by and he walked towards it with you, keeping his arm tightly around your shoulders, his lips pressed to your temple. He unlocked the door and ushered you in before sitting himself in the driver’s seat, allowing you to clamber into his lap. It was uncomfortable, the steering wheel digging into your back and your legs cramped on either side of him, but you were too upset to care, too distraught to register the pain. You clung to him, fisting his shirt and crying into the crook of his neck as he blinked back his own tears.
☾ “MC, hey, it’s gonna be okay,” he murmured, trying his best to comfort you with words that he knew had little impact on your current mental state. You continued to cry into his neck, your tears dripping down your face and onto his skin, pooling in his clavicle.
☾ “I just—I wanna go home,” you hiccuped and he nodded, prolonging the embrace for a few more seconds before he helped you back to your seat, strapping you in and taking hold of your hand as he started to drive, fingers gripping yours, trying to provide as much comfort as he could.
☾ He rambled as he drove, talking about nothing and everything, about old jobs, childhood memories, pranks he wanted to play on Yoosung. His voice was a comfort and you clung to it, fingers shaking around his as you tried to choke back the still rising tears.
☾ You weren’t read to face Saeran and possibly Vanderwood. You were in such a state, tears crusted on your face and eyes red and puffy. You were a mess and you didn’t want anybody to see you as such. You told him so through your muffled sobs and he nodded, telling you to stay there. The car locked as he left and you sniffed, grateful to have a moment alone to try and steady out your breathing. You assumed he was making sure the coast was clear for you to enter the bunker, but what you didn’t expect was for him to come back into the garage five minutes later, blankets and pillows stacked high in his arms, a carrier bag in the crook of his elbow.
☾ He opened the boot with some struggle, arms being full and all, and set them inside. You had never realised that his boot was essentially a crater, a small circle hollowed out inside. He beckoned you out of the car and you wiped your eyes, looking at him quizzically.
☾ Within a few minutes, he’d arranged the blankets and pillows inside and helped you in, draping a blanket over the car boot and the ground to make a makeshift den. It was warm and private, his arms tightly around you, limbs tangled together somewhat awkwardly.
☾ “I love you, MC, so, so much. We don’t need your parent's approval to be a family.”
V/Jihyun:
☼ He ushers you out of the house before your parents can say anything worse. His protective mode kicks in full force and you’re in his arms, his body shielding you from the cold air as you cry into his chest. The moon is low in the sky and you can only see the glint of tears in his own eyes when you look up, blue hair reflecting the silver glow.
☼ He doesn’t ask you any questions, doesn’t even talk, just holds you close as you cry, hands rubbing gentle circles on your back, pressing the occasional kiss to your hair, nuzzling his nose against your temple. There’s no need for words at the moment, just him, you and the pain throbbing through your veins in the moonlight.
☼ “Do you want to go home?” He asked when you started shaking from the cold, voice a quiet whisper into the night air, breath clouding in front of his face. You nod into his chest, sniffing before slowly pushing away from him. He captures your hand in his own bigger one, running his thumb over your knuckles to try and supply some warmth, some comfort.
☼ The heating is on full blast as he drives the both of you home, the roads quiet and dark, the silence only punctuated by your sighs and his fingers drumming a vague rhythm against the steering wheel. Your heart aches, pain coursing through you, eyes stinging and throat burning. It hurts like poison in your veins, like your bones have been frozen. It is cold and it excruciating, taking over your mind and body and replacing them with a sense of loneliness and abandonment.
☼ “We’re here, angel,” he murmured and you jumped, not realising that the car had come to a halt, its headlights beaming onto the walls of the house. It took you another couple of moments to compile yourself to get out of the car, another to put one foot in front of the other. His hands never left some part of your body, radiating comfort and heat to your own as best he can.
☼ “I wanna go to bed,” you sniffed, voice cracking over the words as they fall from your lips. He nodded and guided you up, letting you use him as support, leaning your weight against his taller frame. He got you settled under the covers, putting a pillow behind your back and shoulders to prop you up. You sank into it, letting your eyes slip shut. The thoughts were still barging into your mind, wreaking havoc and the pain was there to stay. They didn’t want you. It stung.
☼ A mug was pressed against your hands and you blearily blinked open your eyes, breaking out of your solitude. Tea. You smiled at him as best you could, the energy it took to muster a small twitch of your lips draining you completely. He held you against his chest, his heartbeat echoing in your ears, grounding you, his breath tickling your head as he whispered reassurances into your hair, his own teal strands mixing with yours.
☼ “I promise you, MC, that we will be a family, with or without your parent's approval. I’m not going anywhere, love, ever.”

Title: In Which Clay Plays Mentor
“Summer of Houston” compliant; mention of @margotkris’s Hanover Prefect.
“I am too Bi Yoda.” Clay muttered.
“Heard that!”
Clay was trying to lead the cohort of freshman through their orientation. Or rather Cl-orientation, Orien-clay-ion? Orientlay? He’ll work on that. Basically the real shit you needed to know coming into Windsor before the Prefect got here.
“Okay freshies- and transfers, yeah I see yah Zack,” Clay said in the most obnoxiously New Yorker way he could. This rich West Coaster was grinding on his last nerve not even five minutes in.
“Obviously you are all Windsors. What does Windsor mean? That we’re fucking awesome that’s what.” Clay said with a grin, “Our mission in school? Fuck shit up and don’t get caught. Or blame it on Maximillion, he’s Hanover’s prefect. You could blame it on Stuart but they have a damn teddy beat in charge. Everyone else is a jerk… sort of? We’ll discuss the blond legacies later.”
“Are you our prefect?” One freshman asked, devoid of sense; that was where his pocketbook instead rested.
Clay stared at him, “Hell no. I’m just a sophomore. I’m here to give you the real orientation. Okay- which one of you is from a family with a net worth under 100K?”
No one raised their hand. Typical.
“Okay so take it from a street smart, middle class jerk: in Windsor money won’t solve shit. It will help, but when our prefect arrives and strings you up by your guts for the ravens you’ll wish you listened to ol’Clay. Wit, cunning, ingenuity, and good reflexes are gonna serve you well here.”
“What? Our prefect would-”
“He’s crazy Zack, keep up before you’re sacrificed to strange and wonderful gods.” Clay said briskly with a evil grin spreading across his face. “You shoulda come last year, our prefect’s boyfriend taught us all how to bake cookies.”
Clay paused the tour of the ground floor, “Oh yeah, who can cook?”
Everyone looked fairly confident, but one raised his hand like it was a test, “I got training with our personal caterer.”
“To cut vegetables? Boil water? Or actually make something?” Clay grilled him.
“I can do salads.” He volunteered. “I make a good dressing…”
Suddenly the rest of the group didn’t look so confident.
Clay nodded approvingly. “Okay you are allowed in the kitchen without a buddy. Never attempt cooking without one, at least a fire extinguisher. They are located every ten feet. They will be your lifeline- wait.”
Clay turned, grabbing the nearest one and throwing it up the stairs they were passing to Kaelan. “Third floor?”
Kaelan laughed, “Yeah. Junior with a hair straightener.”
“See?” Clay said before the freshmen started smelling the smoke spreading through the common room. “Learn em. Everyone else, cafeteria is open late so don’t try to be a hero and cook. Only you can prevent dorm fires.”
They reached the fireplace, replaced with a bulletproof-glass gas installation after the football-hockey hybrid last March. Clay considered the group. He’d gone over the dumbwaiter, the worst teachers, and what to do if you needed to make special orders to the school (answer: office administrator. There was a different address for deliveries). What was missing?
“Ah yes! If experiencing a sexual identity crisis do not panic, pass go, or collect $200. Just lie down and accept a rainbow bracelet. Its 2012 you nerds and everyone in this school is hot.” Clay said sagely, pontificating to his captive audience.
“Speaking from experience, he doesn’t follow his own advice.” A voice said from the top of the bannister.
The group looked up to see Todd Hendricks observing Clay’s attempt at chaos reigning. He was holding a large cardboard box packed full. “Don’t listen to him guys. Clay stammered and stuttered his way into the most public bisexual awakening in the history of boarding schools.”
“Why you-“
“The boners were many and obvious Clay. Give it up.”
Todd retrieved the contents of the box. He tossed down a soft velvet bag to each of the assembled, not bothering to even descend the stairs. “Welcome to Windsor gift from your prefect. It’s the current Windsor survival kit under the new regime.”
“Its just a crystal, salt, um holy water? And … shit is this weed?” Zackary asked.
Todd gave him a withering look. “Its sage and other herbs. They’re protection charms. You’ll all be emailed the proper rituals and receive training next week after reorganization.”
“So, the prefect really is crazy?” The deputized cook asked.
“He’s in touch with the spirits. Call him a fundamentalist Christian or a heathen at your own risk. Or if you think you can survive a couple rounds with him out back.” Todd chuckled at a private joke.
Kaelan rushed back down from the top of the staircase. “Incoming!”
There was a scramble of the upperclassmen to clear the doorways, spreading to the edges of the room with Kaelan’s directives. Todd didn’t move, keeping his calm smile at the top of the stairs.
Ball of energy that he was, Shane Anderson knew how to make an entrance; somersaulting through the doors and springing up onto the coffee table. The outer doors smacked in the wind and rattled.
The freshmen looked spooked.
Curly hair flying, Shane could only yell platitudes to his pursuer.
“I swear I wouldn’t scratch your car on purpose!”
A crossbow bolt thudded into the floor where Shane had been. The youngest freshman shrieked. Todd laughed.
“You are gonna pay for that Anderson!” Their tall, dark haired prefect yelled. Empty crossbow in hand he ran after the bouncing senior with the energy of a man possessed; and possessed he did look, with clothes a week old and dark circles to match.
“I swear, I was just backing in!”
“Shane you don’t even have a full licence! You busted my headlamp! She is vintage!” Dwight caught up with Shane, blocked from the stairwell by Kaelan and a grinning accomplice.
Dwight got Shane around the waist, picking him up with ease, other arm around him to stop him squirming. “You are going to pay for repairs in full, file the accident report, and explain to the security guards and campus welfare why you are not allowed to drive for a whole month.”
“A month?” Shane whined.
“That, or I make sure you only have Murdoch as a driving instructor.” Dwight waited for Shane’s yelp before continuing. “And of course the untold horrors Sadie will curse you with. I’m talking curse for boils from last year in discreet places.”
“You wouldn’t.” Shane wriggled like his feet could actually reach the ground.
“I would. I drove here from Florida with only two stops for poltergeist sightings, I haven’t eaten anything except Burger King, and there is a cop who thinks I’m a panhandling preacher hooker which doesn’t even make any sense- but apparently its a criminal offence in Georgia. So just try me Anderson.”
Shane nodded meekly, but not scared like the assembled freshmen. Clay hadn’t seen his prefect quite like this before, but one couldn’t ignore a flair for the dramatic. Dwight let him go. Shane wasted no time scurrying out to the parking lot to make a call.
“Gonna need to clean that up.” He said, fatigue hitting him as he looked at the crossbow bolt in the hardwood floor.
“You always damage property when you’re shooting to scare.” Todd said, taking the stairs two at a time to step up to the new prefect, yanking the bolt out and handing it to Dwight.
“Who are they?” Dwight asked looking at the freshmen who were quaking.
“Freshies.” Todd patted his shoulder. “Go upstairs to my room, take a goddamn nap.”
Dwight rubbed his eyes, “yeah good idea. Wait, did you-?”
“Yes.” Todd answering the question before it was even asked. “I gave them the packets, sent the emails, your salt order is set, and your room has all the assignments in it. You can go over them after you wake up if you want to make any changes, but I figure you’d want to avoid that for now.”
“I love you.” Dwight mumbled sleepily, going in to bump his forehead to Todd’s, too tired for anything else.
“You too honey.” Todd said quietly. “Now shoo.”
Dwight was upstairs and out of earshot when one freshman started shrieking.
“Is this school insane?”
“He’s crazy!”
“He’ll kill us!”
“Is it weird to say I’m a little turned on?”
Clay looked at the last freshman. “The first step to acceptance is acknowledgement. Welcome aboard.”
“Stop it Clay, you’re not Bi Yoda.” Todd called. “If you didn’t get it that was Dwight Houston, new Windsor Prefect and he’s harmless. Shane’s one of his best friends. Now go grab your shit and keep moving in okay?”
“I am too Bi Yoda.” Clay muttered.
“Heard that!”
“Okay mom.”
“Stepmom! Don’t disrespect Mariana like that!”
“Stop calling my mom by her first name!”
“Well, she told me too…”
“Shut up!”
Another year at Windsor begun, another year of chaos to follow.

A Supercat prompt if you're still taking them (I miss your fics!) Footage of Cat hotly kissing her female date in an elevator is leaked and goes viral. Cat is unfazed and loving her new status as a sex symbol and lesbian icon. Kara can't stop thinking about the footage and realises that her feelings run deeper than hero worship...
It leaks overnight.
Half of the evening crew is pulled to work on containing the situation, while the remaining journalists attempt to keep things as ‘business as usual’ as possible. The end of the world is no excuse for anything less than perfection at CatCo, why should this be any different? Even if it was far closer to home than some looming threat most people would never actually come face to face with, they still needed to make it seem as if CatCo were unphased by the news.
The morning crew was called in early, again splitting off with as many journalists and various employees as could be spared working to control the spin. But without Cat, no one knew what story they needed to tell. And Cat had been unreachable.
Not that anyone was surprised at that, not when the leak in question was a video of Cat in a situation barely two steps from public indecency in the elevator of an exclusive hotel from the evening before. No, everyone was very sure of where to find her, but no one was brave enough to interrupt. Not even their jobs were worth their life.
Kara was one of the first of the day crew on the scene, and her familiarity with Cat’s typical decisions instantly turned her into the leader of the team trying to get control over the situation. No denials, but no admission either. No trying to bury the story with other news, that would only convince people that there was a story to be found. General requests for privacy that didn’t imply one way or another what kind of privacy they were requesting.
It was exhausting work, not the least because CatCo had to have someone on the story as well. They couldn’t risk being scooped by another publication when it was their founder and CEO in question. Finding a balance between joining (and attempting to lead) the pack and trying to divert them seemed like an impossible order, but they couldn’t stop trying just because it was hard. Not one employee thought even suggesting that would be a smart idea.
By the time Cat arrived everyone was exhausted, and vaguely jealous of how unreasonably happy the woman looked. She damn near glowed as she got off the elevator, and it wasn’t just the morning sun behind her. Even without the footage you’d be able to tell she’d gotten laid.
“Your latte, Miss Grant,” Kara says when Cat walks past her, falling into step and glad she’d remembered to set an alarm on her phone to run down and grab the drink before Cat arrived. The happier Cat was, the more dangerous disappointing her could be.
“Why is everyone staring at me,” Cat says as she strolls into her office and sits at her desk, curious but seeming not to care whether the reason was good or bad.
“We’ve all been working on controlling the story,” Kara says, shocked that Cat apparently didn’t know why her employees might take more notice of her arrival that usual. She never came in without knowing what the leading story was, let alone when the story was her.
“What story?” Cat asks, seeming distracted by something on her phone. And now Kara is wondering if she should be calling J’onn to run tests and make sure it’s really Cat, because this does not sound like her boss at all.
“Um, you,” Kara stutters out, freezing when Cat looks up at her slowly, glare quickly replacing the smile she’d been wearing. “Someone at the hotel you were at last night released footage from the elevator. Pretty much every major site with a gossip section is covering it now.”
“I want the name of the building manager within the hour, and a meeting before the end of the day,” Cat snaps, reaching out her hand for the tablet that Kara’s clutching like a lifeline. “Let me see what they have and we’ll go from there.” Kara has the manager’s information already, and a meeting scheduled at two, but now isn’t the time to tell Cat that. Now is the time to give her the information she needs to tell her employees what will need done to control the situation.
“It’s mostly the video and some general speculation,” Kara points out, needing to fill in the silence somehow. “We put out the normal responses, requests for privacy and all of that, and then Jessica from celebrity news put out an article to keep up with everyone else.”
“So Jessica is handling the story so far?” Cat asks as she scrolls through the headlines, occasionally clicking on one and skimming through what’s being said.
“Yes, she’s the best at controlling stories. We weren’t sure what angle you would want to take on this, so she didn’t do much beyond report what everyone already knew,” Kara says, reaching over Cat’s desk to pull up CatCo’s version of the article.
“Oh, well that is entirely too vague to work,” Cat murmurs as she reads, frowning down at the tablet. “That won’t do at all. Get Jessica in here, I’ll give her a few quotes that will make this the CatCo exclusive it should be.”
“You want to move forward with the story?” Kara asks in disbelief, not remembering another time that had been Cat’s decision.
“Well, why not?” Cat says, standing and cocking her hip as she hands the tablet back. “It’s already out there, and a little controversy is never bad for sales. How they missed the whole thing with Aniston a few years ago I’ll never know, but I suppose this is as good an opportunity as any. And a one night fling might bring some criticisms, but you know I’ve never been one to care much what they say about me. If they get too bold, I’ll just buy them out.”
Only long habit and familiarity with Cat’s whims gets Kara’s feet moving, as shocked as she is by the apparent game plan. It’s Cat’s life and Cat’s company after all, Kara’s only role is to do what’s expected of her. Really, there’s no reason she should be getting worked up over this at all. She just has to deliver a message to Jessica and then her part is done.
Except she can’t forget about it, she can’t leave it alone. Especially when CatCo breaks the full story about Cat’s sexuality and how it’s affected her rise to the top. When she talks about how her mother hadn’t approved, but she’d never been willing to do anything but live her own life.
That alone makes Kara think, because she’ll never know if her parents would approve of her dating women as well as men. With marriages being arranged on Krypton, there were never any pairings that weren’t a man and woman. Love and attraction were obsolete, marriage and relationships were about families and power, nothing else. And Kara had been too young when she’d been sent away to know if that meant there wasn’t attraction at all, or if it was merely acting on it that was frowned upon and denied.
But even if they would disapprove, does that still matter? Kara is on Earth now, she’s the last Kryptonian female alive, and her culture with its strict and formal ways is gone. She will always remember it, she has a duty to uphold it, but does that mean she has to chain herself to the expectations of a dead planet at the cost of her own happiness?
She’d always thought yes, always been so conscious of what it meant to be Kryptonian. She’d found ways to keep the traditions alive even as she had to adapt them to Earth. She’d done everything she could to make sure her life and her decisions were ones her parents would approve of, because she’d thought it was her duty.
But here is Cat, the woman who still aches for her mother’s approval every bit as much as Kara does, living her life the way she feels is right. Kara has seen the way Cat still reaches for her mother, how she still tries to do everything right to finally get that ever elusive praise. And if a woman who still tries as hard as Cat does is able to live her own life and find her own happiness in the face of sure disapproval, then surely Kara can do the same, can’t she? There has to be a way to keep Krypton’s memory alive without sacrificing her own happiness, surely there does.
It’s not until Kara finally accepts that fact and still feels as if she’s missing something that she realizes it was never just about Krypton.
No, it was jealousy too. Jealousy that Cat was able to live her life, and jealousy that someone else had been the person Cat chose to live it with. Blind, irrational jealousy.
It makes the next few days at work harder than they have any reason to be, now that the backlash and controversy of Cat coming out so late in life has died down, it’s almost quiet at CatCo. But that quiet is a curse, because with a relatively slow pace of work, Cat has projects in mind. Projects that require Kara to be present and helpful for long stretches of time.
By the end of the week Kara is certain that her crush runs deeper than she’d thought, and now that she’s managed to at least consider the possibility of dating a woman, her feelings are incredibly distracting. She honestly thinks that there should be laws against how attractive Cat manages to be literally every single day. It’s a distraction that Kara is completely unable to deal with.
The weekend brings a reprieve, but on Monday they’re right back into the same routine, and Kara is honestly surprised Cat hasn’t caught her staring yet. Winn and James both have, and she’d had to spend an entire day explaining that no she still isn’t gay thank you, but bisexuality is a thing and oh my Rao I’m literally an alien have you guys considered things could work differently for me anyway?
Needless to say it wasn’t the most comfortable of conversations, or one she was at all interested in having again. But it got the point across, and warned Kara that she needed to be a lot more careful about how she acted around Cat. If Winn and James both noticed, then for someone as observant as Cat it could only be a matter of time. And as much as Kara wished that she could have a conversation like that with Cat, she knows that the reality would probably be nowhere near what she’d want it to be. Walking out of the interaction with a warning regarding appropriate workplace behavior would be far more likely than walking out with a date.
So by Friday, Kara is sure she’s managed to successfully hide what she’s feeling. Cat hasn’t said anything, Winn has stopped sending her pointed glances, and things are slowly getting back to normal. She’s even figuring out how to ignore the constant attraction to her boss, which is helpful in being able to actually focus on her work.
But it never stays easy, and just before the end of the traditional working day the editors find a problem with one of the upcoming spreads, and Cat immediately cancels her evening to go through as many of the other spreads as possible, making sure there aren’t similar mistakes. Which means Kara of course volunteers to stick around and help even as the rest of the floor leaves for whatever plans they have.
Not her brightest decision, but then again it’s almost physically impossible for Kara to turn away from someone needing her help. Even when that help is just being a second set of eyes.
As Cat finishes the third spread of the night she sets it down in front of her the way she has the first two, but instead of picking up another turns to face Kara with a pointed look on her face. “As flattered as I am at the attention, and believe me I am, the staring needs to stop. Just because you suddenly know I’m interested in women does not mean I am interested in one that is taken. You’re very attractive Kara, but as long as you’re with James you should be focusing on him and not anyone else.”
“I’m not with James,” Kara protests, mind sticking on that rather than the rest of what Cat said, at least at first. Once her brain catches up, she flushes at the fact that Cat had caught her after all. “Wait, you think I’m attractive?”
“Really now, that’s what you got from all of that?” Cat asks with a sigh, but Kara doesn’t miss the flash of interest at the fact that she’s not with James.
“Well, isn’t that the important part?” she dares to ask, feeling herself flush despite the bravado she’s putting into her voice. “Mutual interest?”
“I suppose you have a point,” Cat says, shifting slightly closer as she does. “At very least, it gives us something to talk about.”
And as much as the conversation petrifies Kara, she’s also looking forward to what it might bring.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: sexual activity, infidelity
MEET VALERIE JANE THOMPSON
Tumblr media
( Amber Heard, cis woman, and she/her ) Have you seen VALERIE JANE THOMPSON in Plain ? I heard they’re a 30 year old Cancer who was born in Plain, Georgia. Everyone in town thinks she had an affair with her older brother’s wife, but no one wants to say it out loud. Word around town is that they work as a teacher and is known to be affectionate and warm-hearted but intransigent and stubborn, too.
BACKGROUND---
The simple women of the Thompson family are known teachers in the town of Plain, Georgia. Barbara Thompson was a teacher, her daughter Shirley Thompson was a teacher, and now her daughter Valerie Thompson is a teacher. Teaching runs in their blood; it’s their lifeline, their calling.
The men of the Thompson family, however, are known for never staying. Just like Barbara’s husband left after thirty five years, Shirley’s left when his first child Zane was two, came back after two years, then left again after that. He didn’t stay to make memories, didn’t stay to build a life, didn’t stay at all. One day, he was just gone.
The Thompson children never made concrete memories with their father. Zane, as the older of the two, did have the chance to see the man. However, even at that young age, he had been warned by his grandmother not to trust too much. Valerie, on the other hand, never had the chance. Her grandmother would say that this was a blessing.
Who needed men anyway? The Thompson women were doing splendid on their own.
Under the care of their grandmother and their mother, Zane and Valerie grew up to be bubbly little children with stars in their eyes. Zane was the firm protector that Valerie leaned onto, while Valerie was the gentle soul who could make even the toughest protector connect with their emotions.
With only two years apart, the two children shared everything. From toys, to clothes, to secrets.
It was during their adolescent years that they started to differ in interests and crowd, but the two remained very close. Up until their early teenager years, all the way into late adulthood, the two remained the best friends that anyone could ever need.
In a world of push and pull, the Thompson siblings learned to push and pull together.
As Valerie studied to become a teacher, Zane studied to become a journalist. This was where they met their mutual friend --- someone who would later be the death of their relationship.
Valerie knew her first. They were classmates in the same major at the community college, and had almost every class together. At one point, the two shared mutual romantic feelings for one another. But, before they could do anything about it, Zane stepped in. He knew her for a long time, too; not as long as a time as Valerie, but a long time nonetheless. It was one September morning that he decided to pursue her. She said yes.
Devastated, Valerie distanced herself from their friend and her brother. However, she was far too close to her brother to allow someone else to ruin their relationship, so she patched up with him and allowed life to happen. She still saw her friend, still loved her friend, but what was done was done.
When she was twenty seven, her brother and the woman they’d both fallen in love with decided to get married. Valerie would be the maid of honor, of course. She was happy. She was supposed to be.
At no point did Valerie intend to ruin her brother’s marriage, but at twenty nine, she did just that. On a family vacation, one drink led to two, and reminiscing old times led to kissing.
It ended there. Valerie did not allow things to go any further, but news travels fast in a small town where everyone knows everything. The next thing she knew was her brother, angry and red, unforgiving.
She tried to clear things up with him, but none of her explanations work.
She’s thirty now, and --- well --- life might be a little more interesting, but it is definitely a lot sadder, too.
PERSONALITY---
AFFECTIONATE: Valerie has always had a soft nature. She likes caring about other people, and she likes showing them that she does. This was a trait she inherited from her mother, as her mother has always been affectionate with words and touch. Sometimes, to go the extra mile, Valerie will be affectionate with gifts as well.
WARM-HEARTED: Like her affectionate nature, Valerie has taken after her mother’s warm heart. She easily forgives, easily lets go --- especially when it comes to friends and family. That is why she has such a hard time accepting that she did what she did, knowing that it is unforgivable in her eyes and in her brother’s.
INTRANSIGENT: Despite her soft and gentle soul, Valerie does know how to stand by her convictions. She isn’t easily swayed, and will make sure to keep reiterating herself and what she believes in to someone who will force her to do or think otherwise. This becomes a flaw in that she is very inflexible, and doesn’t allow her mindset to be changed.
STUBBORN: There is also something stubborn in Valerie. She’s persistent, that is. Take the case of her brother. She’s been asked so many times to stop apologizing and to cease all contact with him, but she keeps doing just that because she very stubbornly believes that they can still patch things up.
CONNECTION IDEAS---
The integral characters of her story would be really fun to have! These are the brother and the brother’s wife characters! Please contact me if you want to take up any of the characters! I’d really appreciate that!
Some teacher connections would be really nice to! You know, friends who aren’t really friends but gossip around the wife and Valerie because they all work in the same school.
Childhood friends! People who grew up here in Plain!
First love, exes, etc. etc. Gender doesn’t matter because Valerie is bisexual as Heck.
Enemies! People who think she’s fake and that she did what she did!

Organic Grain Enterprise Budgets for ND, SD, and MT
Photo Credit: Miguel Angel Arroyo Ortega
Enterprise crop budgets are an important tool for planning future crop production and understanding the economic impacts of agronomic choices.  For established and transitioning organic producers, having a detailed budget can help avoid costly mistakes while also providing a tangible resource to use for other goals such as securing financing.  Budgets come in many forms, yet the most common is a spreadsheet that helps estimate costs and revenue, plan cash flow, and allocate resources such as labor or capital.
Provided here are enterprise budget templates specifically designed for organic farmers in North and South Dakota and Montana.  The budgets are tailored to these states, yet provide flexibility to choose from a suite of cropping rotations, allow for fine-tuning of field operations and enable the user to adjust expected future crop prices.
Using the budget worksheets
The budgets are divided into four primary sections, which are detailed in the explanation file.  With minimal input from the user, these budgets can provide an initial estimate of net returns; when specific elements of the budget are refined, the initial estimates are updated.  Therefore, it is possible to explore a wide variety of crop rotation scenarios without needing to dive into the details.  Once a rotation has been selected, more effort can be invested into improving the accuracy of the budget forecasts.
Conventional, transition-to-organic, and organic scenarios are presented side-by-side throughout the budget to aid conventional producers in evaluating the financial merit of switching to organic.  The primary differences between these scenarios are field operations, applied inputs, and crop prices (transitioning producers are paid organic prices after the 3-year transition period).
Instructions for using the budget and tailoring it to your farm are provided in the explanation sheet as well as within the workbook itself.
