sooo glad we live in the universe where twdgs4 was rewritten to be about saving the school instead of the original lis2-esque on the road each-episode-is-a-new-location plot. really dodged a bullet there

dont know if it was due to the cuts and collapsing work environment (no budget for all the assets needed) or what but the school plot is just like the perfect setting for her to end her story. and we really almost got a plot about her.... just trying to make it back to her original house? oof

#my biggest problem with lis2 is that being on the road made a lot of your choices essentially meaningless #like wheres the threat of consequence when you know youll be gone by the next episode anyway? #the kids were originally gonna kick them out permanently.......Nightmare Scenario #the plot of her trying to get back 'home' is so silly honestly like its Just nostalgia/fan bait. convince me otherwise you cant #it makes no sense....she lived right outside a major city... that place is Not safe anymore #it wasnt even safe when she left it 8 years ago girl why would you go back #her finding a place to MAKE a new home and having to fight for it? with a community of her peers who love and respect her? so much better #shes a community leader now :) of a bunch of kids living secretly in the woods just trying to make a safe home for themselves #in a hostile world that wants them dead #love that for her #shes been managing adults since she was 11 and even before that tried to be a voice of reason. at 8 years old. community leader makes sense #s4 is just so narratively sound to me for clems character that i cant believe there was ever any other direction they wanted to go in #every time im thinking about how good s4 is i remember what it almost was......... and i am so grateful we got what we did #not only do we live in the universe where s4 is about the school but we Also live in the universe where s4 was un-cancelled :) yay #shit makes me so happy man. i remember clem is living happily at ericsons and my day is Immediately improved #these little fictional bitches in my head giving me free serotonin on command #it speaks #twdg

YOOO I’m excited! I wanna respect your time and whatnot, but I’m curious about the app called forrest basically you grow trees by focusing for set amounts of time. never tried it but the app store keeps recommending it to me. from a cursory look at the reviews, some people said it helps with phone overuse (hooray??) it is four dollars, not sure that you want to start with that. anyways thanks for your consideration, hope this blog goes super well :DD

This is actually an app I paid for the premium version of years ago, by chance! So I can give it a pretty complete shake. Here's the review.

Forest: Phone usage control

Overall rating: Certified, with stipulations. Here's the tl;dr

App includes a disincentive for failure (tree death), so if you're sensitive to even mildly feeling like you've fucked up, this might not be your bag

Low on novelty, so if you need a variety of goals to pursue quickly, this might not be your bag (other plant unlocks take a lot of time, forest grows one 25 minute increment at a time)

Achievements and events are a big plus, with several relatively easy achievements to keep you going.

No Dark Mode

supports a charity so that's pretty cool

Diamonds shop even after a 1 time purchase: go no further if you are susceptible to impulse purchases, I respect them keeping the lights on with optional bonus content, but it can be easy to chase the Purchase Dopamine and we need to say No Thank You

Red Flags: None, this app has been going steady for a few years and for seemingly pretty good reason. I didn't find any red flags with the charity it supports either. It's not on a subscription model, and nothing in it seems to be ridiculously priced.

Dopamine hits: Okay so the main drive for using this app is growing the big old garden of trees, collecting different trees, and seeing the physical space of that garden grow. With this said I have One Major Concern I'd like to get out of the way.

Are you the kind of person that's going to feel like shit if you let a plant die? Will you accidentally tab out, kill a tree, and be miserable out it? Do not use this app.

It DOES let you clear the dead trees out of your garden (see above) but personally I don't find disincentives like that as compelling as positive reinforcement. The app is encouraging about it (as you can see) but personally I'm wary of things where I can receive what feels like a punishment because I was only productive for five minutes and not the allotted ten I needed in order to keep the tree alive. the stopwatch mode reduces this, somewhat, but again, you need over 10 minutes. Make sure you allow texts or calls in allowed apps in settings so if something comes up you don't have to feel bad about killing a tree.

Features: Forest provides you one or two different tree types you can grow as you focus, and a nice little plot of land. I'll be honest, I don't think the free version gives you very much to work with, but the premium version gives you different kinds of trees you can grow, events, social connections, tracking, custom tagging system so you can track what you're spending your time off your phone doing, and best of all, achievements. Forest also comes with both a count-down and a stopwatch mode so that if you'd like to just study or work as long as you can you don't have to just do it in increments, which is nifty, and a change from some other pomodoro counters/timers. If using the app to just do poms/increments, there's a switch to keep the app on while you work.

Price: This app is a freemium (on android), but honestly, if phone restriction usage apps are useful for you, just buy the thing right out of the gate. It's 3.99 (also the price of the entire app on the apple store) and what you get for that price is like 99% of the functionality of the app imo. 3.99$ for a one-time unlock is ridiculously cheap for what you're getting. However. The other trees do take a hot minute to unlock. So if you need that cheap and easy serotonin and you have an intense need for novelty this might not be the move.

I will add a stipulation here: Make sure that phone restriction apps are actually what you Need if this is what you're using. if you're the kind of person who can respond to messages and still be productive, this may not be your bag. If you're on a computer and you're going to end up scrolling through tumblr on your laptop instead of your phone, this may not be your bag. Phone restriction apps are useful mainly if what you need to do is get off tech and go do something physical, like read a book or do chores. I do Not recommend this if what you're trying to do is write an essay on your laptop. It is just as easy to procrastinate on pc as it is on your phone. However, For What It Is, this app is extremely functional.

This app DOES have a diamond store and in app purchases to make extra cash but frankly I don't actually begrudge them this. With a one-time purchase that cheap and regular events that seem to allow you to unlock other plants, they seem to have a good content balance and hey, whatever they have to do to keep the app running. I just launched it again and it reminded me I have the pro version even through I bought that like eight years ago.

Polish + Customization: I'm grouping these together because I really have the same quibble for both, there isn't a darkmode on the settings screen, which is an annoyingly bright white compared to the rest of the app. News is Also bright white, so is the store, generally a lot of the things off the main page are bright white with no option to change them. I do not love that. But everything is easy to find and adjust, and though the load times can be a little slow (which is annoying) I generally can't complain too much.

Roadmap: News tab indicates that the app is still being updated and having new plants added, despite the developers seemingly have a couple other projects going- they've got a to-do list app I'm going to have to check out and one to prevent you using your phone while sleeping.

So there u go: Proceed with caution and respect for your specific needs, but it's top of the line in its category, imo. You just need to make sure that category is what you're looking for.

Hi my name is Bebs, I've read over 20 writeblrs this week and don't remember the key context clues that were in any of them so I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be telling you, but you know what? It'll be grand sure.

The Basics: she/her, 29 (but I'll say 30 if you ask because at this point what is the difference), probably ace, very ADHD, Irish, fat, works in education and juuuust the right kind of mentally ill for this website.

Last year I wrote 3 books (series) in the span of just under 340 days. I did 97k words in the 2023 NaNoWriMo. I am terrified of self-publishing and really, really unsuccessful with acquiring agents.

4 MORE REDESIGNS TIME TO INFO DUMP

Honestly for these designs I barely changed their clothing, so I'm just gonna sprinkle more lore than usual (except for Twyla, I have hispanic reasons for her design)

Rochelle Goyle: big gárgola. She is a stone monster made to protect a church, yet humanity feared their grotesque guardians when they proyected life and reasoning. Scaris is built not as a separation from humans, but as a way to observe and be ready to defend both cities. Rochelle doesn’t share the sentiment: "Humans kicked me and many of my predecessors out after creating us with faith and beauty, they don't deserve our power". A great stone dancer, and a chorus monster of terrific tenor.

Robecca Steam: inspired by a mix between the robots from Futurama and the animatronics from Fnaf. Her story is pretty much the same as in the og monster high cause her character depth is peak writting. Except that now she is confused by her own free will and emotions, since she knows that she likes Venus, yet she cannot avoid feeling flustered by Elissabat. After all the confusion, she got herself on a Shaoran situation where her atraction towards Elissabat was caused by the vampire queen's heart. (Dont look at me like that this is my fanfic I decide what ships stay-)

Twyla Boogey: okey now you must hear clearly 'kay. In Spain the name of the Boogey man is "el hombre del saco" or "the man of the sack", so I wanted to give her that as her main piece. Her face is a reference to how we call the boogey here in some parts of latinoamerica "el Coco", that if you wanna get literal can be translated to "the coconut" djfjdsn. Sooo yeah cococut shining face when getting the spooks. And yeah the rest of her is just materialized shadows, BUT funfact she can only appear when there is already a shadow, and usually can be spotted forming part of Howleen's shadow cause this girl is pining hard for the hothead Wolf

Viperine Gorgon: S N E K. Did you know that gorgons are described as having golden wings, claws and fangs? I learned that while drawing Deuce, thats why he has only golden fangs while Viperine gets the whole set. Makeover artist, and maybe the girl Clawdeen dates after moving on from her crush on Draculaura (Clawdeen deserves a W, and that gay box was very convincing for me so yeah).

So here you have it, many more lesbians and sapphics this time around (I mean Rochelle is not, but she's made of stone so she can stay :D)

HIIII!!! my fic is totally my dump for spider related headcanons but here are a couple off the top of my head!

- spider saw mellori as a child not knowing she was the daughter of raven. one way or another thru prophecy or vision or just showing up thru somebody else (#posession)...i have a sillier differenter fic abt this interpretation of his mirage battle dialogue but its very sweet to think about hahahaha.

- ive always had underdeveloped thoughts abt how spider sees spiral peoples, especially as some of them (such as aztecans) descend directly from first world peoples rather than having been created theoretically after the titan war. but somehow spider's attitude (if he is to be believed) toward the yw i think indicates smth abt how he sees mortals in the spiral. he talks a lot of shop about how he doesn't care for any of the spiral or its peoples because his ex made it, that they're all weak or fodder but he is still grateful for what the yw had done for him even if it were prophesized. even if it were essentially "fate" at that point - spider recognizes that even if the yws actions to help him were done under coercion (from himself or others) they were still kind actions to him - they made him say that the yw was "one of their favorite things the spiral made" bc of that act. you wouldn't necessarily tell that to somebody you regard as a puppet that was bound to do those things anyway. (ofc he could've been sweet talking us but i choose the belief that theres part truth in it-) TLDR: spider ascribes a very interesting free will to certain spiral beings despite manipulating their fates massively over the years -- and i think that indicates more of a kind opinion toward the spiral than he lets on.

- my funniest spider hc is that he loves knitting and like fabric-related arts because he's good at it and better than raven. you just know the motherfucker is making sweaters in the husk

- his blood contains the purest form of shadow magic. a reason among other things that the chaos heart is one of the most powerful shadow artefacts in the spiral. theoretically other body parts of his are up there as well in terms of power. but luckily for him they arent removable.... as far as we know

- another reason why spider is fond of the yw is because spider himself was essentially the first wizard/first teacher of wizards - bartleby doesn't betray either witchiness or wizardry honestly i think "druid" is a legitimate camp to be in and bartleby is there -- raven is overtly witchy -- i think spider is in his own way incredibly wizard-y and mage-like. i always like to think he gave nuggets of his knowledge to the spider mages and guided their studies for a time...and the reason why people dont speak abt wizardrys root in spider is bc of raven's casting of him as ultimate evil in spiral mythologies. the role of guide to wizards is given rather ambiguously to bartleby instead...

- this hc is silly but. the divinities eat azoth. spider subsisted on that shit even in the black hole. idc that immortals don't need to eat i think it'd be funny if they ate azoth. consume ancient magics my boy

- tho raven and apider settled down in the husk, they still watch the yw but dont say nothin. spider COULD step in and narrate but why would he. all of arc 4 is so literally not his business at all ur on ur own wizard. however spider gossips about the yws goings on in lieu of being helpful literally at all.

- spiders favorite non-shadow schools of magic r storm and myth bc they're the most chaotic ::::)

- spider isn't taking to divorce therapy very well at all. 💋

this is such a sweet ask omg. i'm gonna list the last 5 things that made me happy

1. watching one of my fave shows online with a friend until like 4am despite both of us knowing we had to get up early in the morning but we were having too much fun to stop until we were literally falling asleep

2. seeing updates on donation campaigns that i've contributed to where the recievers say that they've been able to afford what they needed thanks to our donations. it keeps me going honestly bc i struggle so much to do things for myself but i'll put in the effort to stay employed if that gives me the means to be able to help others

3. cooking a meal at lunch time and eating it and not getting a tummy ache or extreme fatigue or any other kind of debuff. just the human body working as intended god bless (<- rare event)

4. drawing my friends' OCs interacting with my OCs or other friends' OCs and seeing their reaction when i show the drawing to them. again i draw so few finished pieces for myself but i'm soooo motivated when it's about drawing gifts for others bc i know it will make them happy, and looking at those drawings afterwards is free serotonin for me too

5. working on coding projects... i get so fired up when i can work on a personal project specially if it's 8pm on a friday or saturday because i know i'm gonna have so much fun without worrying about work in the morning it's what keeps me alive fr. as long as i can type on a terminal i'll be alright

The European youtuber known as Jacksepticeye finally turned to fully look at you, playful smile in place as he readjusted a stray pencil from behind his ear.

Both of you had been sitting at the kitchen countertop in his house for a while, going over what you dubbed as "septic ego lore". Papers were scattered over a cool to the touch marble surface, spread out with no rhyme or reason. It was cluttered, but things were staring to fall into place.

Normally Jack did this kind of stuff with people on a team dedicated to it, but tonight he had asked you- his best mate and loud ass neighbor -for your help.

I mean, it was hard not to accept a plea from a pouting irishman on your doorstep. He even pulled out the fake bambi eyes to make you laugh.

You were astounded by how much shit he was planning on putting some of these characters through though.

"Brochacho-" You went to sling an arm around his shoulder, laughing to yourself when he made a face at the nickname "-you need to realize that yes, angst is good! Lore is great! But please, you're gonna come out looking like a sociopath when you continue with all this!"

"Ye jus vaugly guestered to everything on ta table." Jack deadpanned. You snorted at his less than amused expression. Reaching up to slightly ruffle his hair you were met to a slap to the wrist. Pulling away while fake crying you continued.

"How about I cut you a deal then, mister evil mastermind."

One of his eyebrows raised a bit. Jack tried to look disinterested but you have been known to pull some pretty good ideas out of nowhere from time to time. So he was invested.

"Go on."

You grinned.

"Alright. So. You take, uhhhh, these characters and put them through as much suffering as you want-" You reached over to push a stack of papers towards him, names of septerate egos on them. "-and I take these characters n do some fluffy shit with em!"

You pulled a stack or two towards you, shooting a pair of finger guns at Jack with a wink.

"I'm ready to get my serotonin on! Booyah!"

"Ye jus' grabbed Antis profile."

"Shit. Switch with me real quick would you Jackie boy."

After a quick (and slightly embarassing) exchange, you awaited his answer with a wide smile. It only took a moment of him biting his bottom lip for a sigh to escape Jacks mouth.

"Fine. Bu' you can't complain when I traumatized one of em."

Pumping your fist in the air with an exclamation of triumph, you held your hand our for him to shake. He took it lightly.

"Knew you'd make the right choice my boy!" This was said in an old timey accent while you busied yourself adjusting an invisible bowtie, like a prospector in those ancient black and white movies. It made the person shaking your hand laugh.

"Don think I didn see ye deliberately grab Chases file though (Y/n). You're not tha slick."

"Awwww shut up you leprechaun."

"I'm going to put in a noise complaint to the landlord about you if you call me that again."

You lightly punched him in the shoulder, the both of you breaking out into big smiles.

"It's not my fault I'm loud. I'm just a free spirit!"

"Tell that ta ye guitar solos at three am."

"As if your screams from playing Phasmaphobia durring the dead of night dont keep me up either."

He flipped you off with a hearty giggle, taking his backwards baseball cap off and smushing it overtop your own head as a silly gesture. It mussed up your hair and blocked your vision so you tilted it up slightly while Jack snickered.

hi, I recently came across your post about the failures of most popular shonen animanga (it was so great to finally see it articulated like that, wholeheartedly agree with it).

do you have any recommendations for shonen animanga that does it right? that maintains a story, keeps to the themes, doesn't fizzle out and turn into a mindless training->war->training format? nothing new comes to my mind but I also haven't been keeping up with post-2000s anime. please let me know which shonen titles impressed you the most!

oh boy.... i have a few suggestions. they're not all shonen though SKJBVDJKFVB

i'm not sure if Terror in Resonance can be considered a shonen, and it's only 11 episodes, but it's absolutely incredible. i showed it to a friend who doesn't watch/enjoy anime much and he insisted on watching the whole thing in one go because he was hooked

Mob Psycho 100 is beautiful and heartfelt and breathtakingly animated. it's full of story and meaning and i'm pretty sure it's like Done now, so you'll get the full story instead of waiting for the next season. highly recommend

Eighty-Six is gorgeous and has excellent sound design. there's a plot, there's well-animated battles, there's good character moments. it's mech without being like Big Robot mech. i have to warn you, though, that it's devastatingly sad. still really highly recommended from me though (i've watched it twice already)

No. 6 is also sad, but it's worth it. another 1-seasoner, this is a quick watch and has really great storytelling. it's been several years since i've watched it, but if i'm remembering correctly, it relies on a lot of "showing" instead of "telling" for the world building, which really set it apart for me since a lot of anime uses dialogue for exposition

Chainsaw Man is not shonen, but it's still very very good. the animation is top tier, the story is great, the characters are amazing, and it has really great pacing. as long as you're good with excess blood/gore and adult themes, you should enjoy it

Trigun Stampede has the vibe of shonen, imo, but it's certainly not shonen. it's also, quite simply, stunning. i really don't have a lot to say about it that i haven't said for the others, but you should definitely give it a shot. i personally really like the animation choices, and the music..... chefs kiss

i personally love Bungo Stray Dogs, but i also understand that it's an anime that you either click with right away or don't. the characters are unique and interesting, and there is actually a (tenuous) plot throughout all of the seasons, but it does have weakly explained power scaling (no training arcs, though, which is nice). i love the animation and really suggest watching at least the first two episodes of season 1 to see if you vibe with it

i also wouldn't be me if i didn't have Haikyuu in the list. it's a sports anime, sure, but it's shonen so it counts. is the plot super simple? yes. does it stay on-plot the whole time, though? yes. and the characters are wonderful, and it's funny and doesn't take itself too seriously. don't watch it for an engaging story, but do watch it for free serotonin (i rewatch it yearly, usually in the winter, for some happiness JSBDVKJDBF)

ALSO, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a new anime (season 1 is almost finished releasing), and i think it's absolutely lovely. it's such an interesting take on longevity/immortality and, honestly, on how to tell a story. the pacing is unique, the characters are so lovable, and the animation is stunning (the way the animators have brought fabric to life in the anime is just incredible)

Since day one i woke up in that place, all i felt was pain and this forced emotion trying to crack my sanity open like an egg.

At first i was weak and afraid, these people with stretched out grins looking at me all around trying to assure me that it was going to make things better for the greater good and that i shouldn't worry, that i was going to smile always.

It was going to hurt just a little they said.

The food tasted funny, because it was laced with that disgusting, bright yellow chemical they use for almost every. damn. thing.

The joy slithers inside your mind, your nerves, your blood, your lungs, your entire system until you are nothing but a marmalised laughing advocate of the bunch.

As much as i wanted to break free in each session, all i could do was feel pain, panic and my body force itself to feel serotonin while bright imagery tried to wash my memories of my past away and replace them with just happiness, nothing but happiness and joy.

Scalpels, syringes, interrogation rooms, marmalisation sessions, electric shocks, mouth surgery, jabs of joy, it all brings a very bitter memory.

I felt restrained and observed, i had to be careful with each word i spoke, with each emotion i felt if i had any other emotions left or else i was given more correctional procedures to see if any of them changed me as they wanted it to be.

All my loved ones, all my memories of my past life i never wanted to erase in the first place.

The ones i loved so much were gone from my life and almost from my head, becoming mindless data hosts wrapped in cables experiencing nothing but HAPPINESS.

My mind and body tried to be strong but all i got back was my head being cracked open, my lungs being intoxicated, my eyes being blinded, my nerves being set to a laughing panic and my veins being flooded with joy serum.

Those stupid shows they put up weren't entertaining, i was tired and irritated from hearing happy pop and cheesy music and seeing advocates hold poisonous tarantulas or dangerous things near them while the rest watched.

A part of me wanted to break everything, scream and destroy everything in their path. I was so numb trying to feel whatever marmalisation was trying to change in me.

I felt so exhausted, so tired, i couldn't handle it any more and i thought it was going to be my fate and i had no other route than giving up.

I honestly didn't really think i was going to make it out at first, my sanity was escaping from my mind and i was slowly going numb.

The scars behind my head, the bruises in my arms and the scratches around my arms and back but most importantly, my modified and sharp tail remind me that i wish that ministry nothing but the deepest depths of hell.

If i'm being honest, i feel something is up with that park and the ministry has something to do with it, something much more sinister, something that shouldn't have been spilled but it went through.

At least i'm glad i'm not alone in this and that a rebellion exists out there."

Honestly I’m not to great at headcanons but I tried my best :)

The offseer triangle was mostly formed through Mio being in love with both Noah and Miyabi, those two got together a little later on

Noah composes a flute trio piece for them all to play. They also all play together at campsites (come on monolith give me all three of them jamming out)

Mio can purr and Noah and Miyabi adore it. Pet your catgirlfriend for free serotonin

Miyabi continues cooking after her ascension quest, and sure they might be a little biased, but Mio and Noah consider Miyabi’s cooking the best they’ve ever tasted

I like to think that after the ending, the worlds eventually fuse together properly and Ouroboros and those close to them remember Aionios. Mio was already dating Miyabi beforehand, but after the worlds fuse the three start dating again. Let those kids be happy
