Just got out of yet another interview and they threw in a fun question which was "who's your favorite superhero" and I blanked and all I could think of were villains, rip 😭

#i did end up telling them Valkyrie bc i couldnt think of anyone else and saw her promo pic today #but i did also tell them poison ivy and magneto whoops #apparently im their first villain person come on man #i was filtering through the x men in my mind and i couldn't remember my faves that were heros all i could think of were the villains #god damn #and of course i cant say i dont think ivy and magneto really are villains like aghhhhh #im also sick and lost my voice so my voice was cracking and shredded the whole time im out here sounding like anne bonny #thank god for the cepacol but damn my throat is a war zone currently #they were quite eager literally they called to set up and interview less than an hour after id submitted my application 😳#also i did get a job a few weeks ago but they had a hiring freeze literally hours after they sent me my official offer #i can't catch a break #but hey this place pays more and has great benefits and mission so im hoping #i was also offered another job somewhere else but that's a long story #i keep getting almosts and in the third rounds but then splat #i do have to say i am kinda proud i was competing against someone with ten years of experience so im doing smth right #over and over again #im so tired of almosts like god. job. actually. please #p

Are you just going to be a tease and not write the essay? Because I would SIT DOWN for this essay.

he's an insane individual and with each new post on social he blows my mind. i have personal experience in PR and presenting an individual as a brand and let me tell you, the awareness charles has about himself is INSANE.

let's have a look at the subtle changes charles made in 2024 to his instagram:

here's his winter break feed from 2023:

out of all these posts, only one could be considered as "silly" (the pizza eating one, HOWEVER, it was part of a carousel that also featured serious pictures of his training).

now let's look at 2024 winter break feed:

i marked it on the feed itself, but he hasn't posted a single serious pic from his training in the dolomites (and he was on a 24hr skiing trip from italy to austria i may add so that would be a huge flex -- again no post). he chose to post a picture of him falling, a video of being insane and sliding down a mountain, and then eating an icecream in the snow.

now, re: his brand awareness, his lore goes CRAZY. back before christmas he had a Q&A on threads where he said his fave ice cream flavour was vanilla, people judged him. he went on to make a whole photoshoot with a vanilla ice cream. not many people would connect it, but it just shows how aware he is of what he shares with the general public.

he also now features much less ferrari on his IG. also worth noting that to match his feed, he wore exclusively red jacket during his winter training last year to match the other pictures where he wears the ferrari red suit. now, his feed is more neutral, less red for sure. i'm not saying it's him going to a different team. i personally think it's him building his own brand and trying to distance himself from being JUST a ferrari driver.

now, i made a whole post about charles and his relatable posts but just admit, would you be more likely to notice a post where he does something silly, unexpected, authentic, than a perfectly staged professional training photo? exactly.

in fact, his ice cream pics gained 1M likes SO FAST - he posted them around 6pm and reached a million likes before midnight. now it's on 1.6M likes. bear in mind he has "only" 13M followers. that means he manages to activate a huge number of his followers to engage with his posts. to compare, lewis has 35M followers. how many likes do his posts reach? around 700k likes if they aren't racing related. do you see how insane this level of engagement is?

he has a good understanding of the social media environment, and understands that showcasing his personality more rather than a crafted PR image works to his advantage.

he seems then more approachable, stands out in the crowd of other drivers.

also one thing that i noticed is how insanely well his branded posts do. branded posts underperform, that's a fact. but charles' branded reels get millions of views -- 12.8M views for the apm monaco promo, 25M views for his meta promo.

to compare other non-branded content, his piano reel from 22 weeks ago got around 7.7M views. ferrari posts that were co-posted by charles gain around 3-5M views if you look at the usual performance.

the pattern is clear -- charles is outgrowing ferrari and the brand that ferrari offers. the individual brand that he crafted for himself is getting stronger, and him and his team know how to navigate in it and capitalize on it. he no longer is tied to ferrari, or even racing. he can do well enough with a video of him playing a piano than a video of him scoring a pole position.

again, racing is in charles' blood and at his core, he's a racer, but having such a strong individual branding as an internet personality is a huge advantage when it comes to brand deals, sponsors, and the contract negotiations he could be having.

that being said, what you see on social media does not have to be reality. it can be a carefully crafted pr image. HOWEVER, charles also has a great advantage of the thousands of meetings with fans that claim he was incredibly nice. or meetings with partners, that always cannot stop complimenting how approachable and interested he was in person.

that also benefits him, people always want to root for/support people that are genuine in real life, and charles seems to live up to that expectation.

Somewhere in Manila, 2078

“It is pretty nice here,” V said, and Kerry put his arm around him, pulling him a bit closer as he turned his head to look at him.

“C’mon, just ‘pretty nice’?” he asked grinning.

“Okay, it’s beautiful, breathtaking, astounding!” V said and Kerry chuckled, “You weren’t exaggerating.”

“And this is just the hotel! Wait ‘til you see the city. And the beaches! But we gotta drive a little to get to the better ones. Nothin’ beats the one in Tangalan anyway, but that’ll have to wait 'til next week…”

Kerry went on rambling about all they had planned, everything he wanted to show V, parties and events they could go to, the secret spots only he and maybe a handful of other people knew. Some of it all sounded quite adventurous, and V still struggled to imagine Kerry clambering through the jungle to get to some of these extra special hidden gems. But his excitement was downright infectious. Truly just adorable. V was relieved to see Kerry so genuinely happy again, too, the stress of the last weeks really had been weighing him down. Getting ready for this trip in the background had been his sole motivator for staying on top of the mountain of promo events for his album.

Just three more interviews before we can get on the plane. Just this one photoshoot, and then I can finally start packing my stuff. That one private show, that one industry party, that one red carpet, and then Lee can kiss my ass and we’ll fuck off across the Pacific.

Being here now finally, chilling at the hotel bar and recovering from the long flight, still felt somewhat surreal.

“… - and we really gotta go to Quinta Market later. Gonna cure your resentment to street food there once and for all.”

Kerry took a sip of his drink, then looked back at V, who had been watching him the whole time, a little tired and absentmindedly, but full of affection.

“What?” he asked, frowning slightly, but kept up his smile, the silver lines around his eyes and down his cheeks sparkling in the setting sun.

“Nothin’,” V said, “I’m happy you’re happy to be back here, is all.”

Kerry leaned over and gave him a quick kiss.

“I’m happy you’re here with me,” he said, “That’s all that matters.”

AAAAHHH. A little bit of behind the scenes rambling here!!!

I didn't forget to take a pic of my setup at least this time XD I set this up at Denny's pool (free of concrete thankfully), because there is little distracting Night City scenery in the background that would destroy the illusion of this not being Night City xD But admittedly, the setup was a little rushed bc I just wanted to do some fluffy pics. I could actually spend hours setting up my scenes with all the awesome props I keep discovering o.o

Also: I had Kerry's summer vibes outfit ready since early June, but just didn't get around to doing anything with it until two weeks ago, AND THEN I didn't have time to edit the pics because other stuff kept grabbing my attention instead xD

But there is more to come, I have a whole lot more summer pics ready, all incredibly fluffy... because I need some fluff and knowing they have this in their future waiting for them, while on the side I'm writing the most angsty fic with constant dread and setbacks and death looming on the horizon, you know XD

As promised, some better pics of my Digimon TCG card collection!

First, 02 The Beginning promo cards! I got Davis, Cody, and Lui at the movie, and @bacomon-art-blog was nice enough to send me one of their extra Yoleis!

As CEO of Wallace, it seemed silly NOT to have his card, so I sprung for the uh… Box Topper version? Is that the right term? 💚🩷 I also got some of my other favorite, less-popular Tamers 🦋🌱

Menoa really does have the perfect thematic text on her card… XD

And then I was like, “well wait a minute, I could get the Frontier kids too!” Except Takuya and Tomoki seem to be unobtainium for some reason (I didn’t look that hard). I did really have to get Zoe + J.P. and the Kou-boys though. Do not separate them!!

Freebies from the company I bought from. Marching Fishes is so cute!!!!!!!

And THEN @vidramon sent me some more cards totally unprompted, because she had extras and knows I love Frontier! I actually got Eosmon (pictured above) and another Kouichi from her as well, so now I have two of him!! (it’s OK, he’s secretly my favorite Frontier kid. AND he’s purple 🤫)

Neemon’s card is amazing. I love Neemon.

So… yeah. I went from having ONE card (not pictured here, but it’s Gaomon) to SEVERAL! Oh, the slippery slope of card collection XD Now to figure out what to DO with them!

Idk if you mean merch or records or both but I'll use this ask as an excuse to infodump abt it all. As far as shirts go, I've got the Charles Manson slit wrist one, the old school Children of God shirt in green, and their TANFP 30th anniversary shirt I got when I saw them last year. I've also got the 2024 Southern Nihilism Front hoodie, and the NOLA Jesus shirt and The Power Of Dirt Weed mini patch which I sadly lost but at least I added it to Tshirtslayer before I lost it and I chatted w the dude that made the original run of those patches so that was cool and their 2024 patch pack that had the slit wrists, guns and giant logo patches. I've also got their NOLA snapback and 4 flyers I picked up from the show I went to. As far as physical media goes, I've got their first 3 albums on both cassette and vinyl, TANFP is a cool pukey pink/blue color mix, Dopesick is on white vinyl and ITNOS my fave EHG album is a dark green colored vinyl (my fave color) so thats neat, I've also got 10 Years and their self titled album on vinyl, their Sabbath split 7 inch, and the New Orleans is the New Vietnam 7 inch thats cool cause its got the phoenix engraved on the flipside and its orange and black, also a promo flexidisc I got in an issue of Decibel magazine for their song The Liar's Psalm. Also I've got a bunch of their side project shit, I have NOLA by Down on vinyl, I have NOLA on cassette too along w/ Over The Under. Mike's harsh noise tape thats covered in broken glass from Auris Apothecary, I adore them, they're the reason I got into harsh noise, and also Mike's spoken word 7 inch That's What The Obituary Said/Ten Suicides thats cool cause its black vinyl w/ streaks of green and yellow, I found it at a record store in Memphis when I was down there for my grandma's funeral. I've got Outlaw Orders' Legalize Crime 7 inch. I've got Last City Zero by Corrections House on vinyl, I've got a bunch of The Guilt Øf... on vinyl, their 10 inch split w IVs Primae Noctis, their self titled record, Arson Anthem's EP on super sexy red and black vinyl, En Minor's full length on vinyl, and to top it all off I've got Jimmy's guitar pedal he released recently with Does It Doom, and again, I was happy cause it was my favorite color. Okay, it sounds like you've had some shuffling in the "this one is my fave" line in regards to the Girls on the Bus characters...

So, which character did you go into the show believing would be your absolute favorite? And has that changed? Which side character are you enjoying the most? Are there any characters you initially disliked but now adore? Are there any characters you really liked that you now kind of don't care for? Are there any surprising teamups/duos that you love?

ooh i love this question!!

i started watching the show for melissa’s character. but before the show aired - the promo pics gave me the impression that i wouldn’t like her character. to me, they gave off the vibe that sadie was going to be a loud, irritating republican. but as soon as i started episode one, sadie had my heart and still does. sadie feels to me like another version of kara danvers, only more consistent/mature, and much better at her job

starting the first episode as everyone was getting introduced (after i realized i love sadie) i thought i was going to love lola and dislike kimberlyn. lola is the character closest to my age (i think she’s 4 years older than me?) so i expected to find her the most relatable. and a lot of her is. i also think she’s very intelligent, knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to openly be herself which are all things i love about her. i also like that she isn’t trying to change herself to fit in and that she still defends kimberlyn in episode one, even though they come from very different ends of the political spectrum.

but sometimes lola needs to sit down and listen because she tends to act like she knows everything. like the moment where she’s dissing old journalists, or speaking over grace’s experiences about gender discrimination in the field. sometimes you just need to sit back and hear someone else. not everything needs to be an argument and not everyone needs to agree with you about everything. i feel like once lola gets that, i’ll like her more. because i try SO hard to like her, but every time i think she’s pulling me in, she does something to bug me lol

grace i kind of disliked at the beginning. i found her character to be kind of confusing (sometimes she’s sadie’s friend, sometimes she isn’t) and the scenes with annie i found so angering. im biased because of my own experiences with having toxic parents so at first it was hard to see past that when looking at grace’s dynamic with annie. but i think grace might be the most complex character on the show

the scene where she leaves the voicemail for annie after watching a tik tok especially comes to mind. for a moment she’s so open. she’s reaching out to her daughter in a way that didn’t seem possible from her, and she’s making a genuine effort to connect with her. it shows us that she does think about annie, she loves her, even though she’s hard around the edges. and then that message gets deleted, and she sends one that’s cold and threatening and much more like the grace from the beginning of the episode. the voicemail on its own is harsh but with the context it’s almost saddening? to know she’s trying to make that connection, but she’s sabotaging herself in the process.

it’s like she’s afraid of showing annie (and everyone else) that she is capable of warmth

as for team ups- i’m loving sadie and grace working together to uncover everything going on with walker. i think they balance each other out so well- and i wish we’d seen more of them working together in the last episode!!

I did Neil’s homework and watched Pride and Prejudice, 1995 BBC adaptation. Loved it very much since generally love this era, and setting, and theme in general (Downtown Abby is one of my fave shows). So very wonder what references will GO2 have? My bet (at very least):

The talk - Aziraphale still talks very much like people from Jane Austen time!

The costumes - we already saw promo photos with the costumes from GO2 for this era, and the are very alike to the ones at P&P.

name and whatever you want to share about yourself I'm tpt! 30s, queer, brainweird, language nerd, been reading BL and slash and other queer lit since before the turn of the millennium and probably (hopefully) never gonna stop.

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom? I watched the first episode the day after it aired. Went in knowing nothing about it except the English title, which I thought was thoroughly unappealing, and the promo image. Came out of ep 1 convinced Paa was the only person with any sense on the entire show, but sufficiently intrigued (ointment sharing! Line ID shenanigans!) to keep watching. So I watched as it aired from ep 2, and when the bus stop scene rolled around, I blocked the airing time slot out in my calendar so I could watch live (which didn't work out for ALL eps, but … close enough). I did find a regular group to squee with after ep 5, but didn't really interact with fandom beyond that little bit of squeeing with friends and looking at fan art until after ep 9, I think. This was the first Thai BL show I watched week to week, and that also made it special to me.

favorite ship(s) Pat/Pran.

favorite character(s) Used to be Pran no contest, but Pat worked his way into my heart in the later episodes. couldn't choose now. they're all favourites.

favorite episode(s) I really love episodes 3-5 and 10/11. but honestly I love the show as a whole, and the episodes in the context they exist in. Except for the gun subplot.

favorite scene(s) the opening sequence of ep 2! also episode 3 bus stop scene (and Pat's way of accomodating Pran in it), ep 4 sleepover scene, ep 5 Pat's realisation/the fight, ep 6 gate convo scene, ep 8 fight/apology scene, ep 9 hand-holding scene, ep 10 Our Song teaser scene and confrontation scenes, ep 11 affirmation/we got to go back scene and wishful thinking sequence, ep 12 bar scene.

one thing you would change about the show if you could I'd adjust the pacing of ep 12 so the fake-out is a smaller part of the whole thing proportionally.

what are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people? It's really hard to pick. I love SO MANY. Even just the authors whose fic I list here have written more than one of my faves each. but let's see:

fic (missing scene): keeps me warm by unsungyellowraincoat (@isaksbestpillow). direct ep 8 aftermath exploration that made me ache.

fic (canon divergence): fight or flight (worth the wait) by jabber_moose (@galauvant). Ep 2 canon divergence wherein Pran is discovered under Pat's bed.

fic (AU): Pinocchio by aworkingprinter (@miscellar). In which Pran has an obvious, unsuppressable tell when he lies.

fan animation: international love song by @architectxengineer

fan art: this pic by @ thatgothsamurai was one of the first things I saw in this fandom in the way of art and it's stuck with me

(if you create fanworks) what are your favorite fanworks that you’ve made?

fic: the only truth that sticks (<5k, G) is my take on Pran's mother's backstory, told as vignettes from her school years. There's a lot I'd do differently if I wrote it now – not give her a nickname, for one – but it's nevertheless my baby; when I started it, I hadn't finished and posted any fic in over 20 years.

I had a collection of random language- and storytelling related observations about the show on twitter that I should probably copy over somewhere else at some point for preservation purposes.

there's an epic canon divergence that lives only in my friend's and my DMs and a back-up doc that I'm starting to think will never take full shape, but I love it anyway. There's also an escalating intimacy thing set vaguely pre-canon plus ep 7 to time skip that I've not added to in a year and probably won't finish, either, but again: love what I've got there.

a song that makes you think of bbs (the ones in the show don’t count lol) If it's a bittersweet love song I'm PatPraning it. But specifically: Tilly Birds' เพื่อนเล่น ไม่เล่นเพื่อน (Just Being Friendly) and pretty much the entire tracklist from the ON Thailand fanmeet, especially แดงกับเขียว (Red and Green) by TaitosmitH, แน่ใจไหม (Are You Sure) by Nont Tanont, อย่าใกล้กันเลย (We shouldn't be close) in Aof Pongsak's version, and ดวงเดือน (Moon) by Joey Phuwasit.

idk anything else you want us to know? I love this show. I love the hopeful ending. I love all the recurring characters (yes, that includes Wai and the parents), with all their flaws. I love how gently P'Aof tells this story – the way he approaches entrenched BL clichés, picks them up, examines them, and puts them back down: does it have to go this way? not for us, not for this story, let's look at how else this could go. He said he wanted to make a typical, an ordinary BL, and he did, and he didn't.

I love that I met so many nice people through our mutual love of this show. I love that we're still on the rooftop nearly two years later.

I love that there's so many sides of this fandom – analytical, transformative, curative, and everything in between.

People are believing that Greg is going to fire Tom, what do you think? I'm not sure that makes sense, tbh and if that happens I'm going to stomp him to death with my hooves. What I realistically could see though, is that they make Cyd fire Tom, which she's gladly going to do, and him assuming that Greg is coming with him because that's what he said in the s3 finale, and him leaving Tom high and dry instead. And that's how we get the promo pic with sad eyed Tom lying on a couch, because now he has noone and nothing left.

100% no to Greg firing Tom, I know this is fiction and all, but in what universe are subordinates allowed to fire their superiors. I am not even sure if Cyd has the power to fire Tom either? Since Shiv broached the idea of Tom firing Cyd... it would have to come from the failsons, really, but since it is fiction, they could potentially use Cyd to break the news to Tom. In a real world, this would def not fly and would open them up to all kind of lawsuits, and corporate misconduct paybacks are always huge.

Ultimate gregtrayal also does not do it for me, since Tom has already told Greg to do whatever it takes to save himself because Tom is most likely not going to survive this. And yeah, maybe Greg actually going through with it would turn out to be a bigger blow than Tom expected, but he has been preparing for them to go their separate ways since the moment Logan died (which makes little sense when Greg honestly agreed to business marry Tom and they both weirdly enjoyed framing it as a pact with the devil. Freaks).

As for Tom looking sad on that couch, it could literally be anything. That man has so many things to be sad about. But I suspect the next ep will open with that shot of him being sad and tired still.

Also, sad Tom lying down is becoming one of my fave tom tropes. It's right there with Tom on his knees, honestly.
