The spooky season is upon us!

And that means it is time for my Halloween queue! For the rest of the month I will be posting pumpkins, zombies, costumes and every other spooky thing I have in my catalogue.

So I wrote a limerick about the junk e-mail I have been getting lately.

My email chimed with some spam: A compensation program. The Prince went into detail, Of what a your cut would entail, (delete it , it’s really a scam!)

barachiki's fanfiction cover contest winners post announcement thing!

Hello my friends! Since speaking to you last, I've finished up the covers and have been in touch with all my winners. Here's what they won in a book style mockup!

DISCLAIMER: I will not be linking these stories, just offering the names and authors on the covers. Some of these stories are rated mature, with some serious scary or adult themes. Read them at your own discretion and heed all warnings and tags.

@meetinginsamarra : For this one, there were a lot of details they wanted on the jacket, s making it less bulky and showing that it was worn by including a rip, the decal and slogan, the earring, the bracelet, the blood, the lip piercing, most of these details i lovingly put in but are hardly seen in this mockup. That's ok, I know that they are there ;). It was a ton of fun. I think the hardest thing was John. Finding something in the right pose and having the scrubs to be changeable to the right colour is tricky!

@johannadc : this one was a ton of fun when I finally found some pieces that were good to work with. These two were originally some young hipsters on their phones. Lestrade's head was replaced a couple times but it was the right choice, in the end I think it tells a fun visual story. A tiny detail you probably won't notice is that I used probably four different Lestrades to make his neck and face. They are all so barely used, we're talking minuscule opacity, but I needed it for a natural jawline.

@chriscalledmesweetie : This one was great to work on. I learned a lot about spooky light value and doing a lot of 'less is more'. I had originally started this piece with way more overdone water overlays and blatant tentacles, but in the end, it looked much spookier with the looming presence of the tentacles in the background approaching unseen. The sign was really fun to put together as well, it has one of my favourite things to image search, "grunge texture". Just find some grunge to put on something and it instantly looks old and worn!

Thanks to everyone for participating and letting me have some fun.

My participants were all fabulous to work with. I hope they had fun as well. Look out for this contest to come again in the future. Maybe with more warning next time, and possibly more obvious rules.

Well, it is 9:30 and I am in bed after a tiring day. Lots of visits and bits of stress but it was okay. Tomorrow, doubly so.

I feel the need to say that an old post of mine is going around and it is saying I am going to be doing a lot of posting and organizing on my blog and whatnot after some trouble I have had.

That post is SEVEN years old.

Not that I’m never going to post new pieces ever again, but they aren’t getting very much attention any more and they do take time that I have much less of since the majority of pieces I made when I wasn’t working and now I have two jobs.

I’m still in this fandom, I am still making pics, I just am finding new ways to get some art made.

So I’m looking at those people who were reblogging today, this one is for you. Big hugs!

Traffic Cones day is over!

Okay so my day of Traffic Cones is over. The truth is that this is the 10th anniversary of my blog. I started it on April Fool's day of 2012 to participate in the #reichencrack theorycrafting. What that basically boiled down to was a bunch of us in our corner of fandom would flood the Reichenbach theories tags with jokey Reichenbach theories. I started my blog in order to make up my own 'reichencrack' theory (mine involved twin Moriartys on identical rooftops).

Anyways, about traffic cones. One of the genuine theories out there involved a piece of the set that turned out to not be a set piece, but an actual object on the street, the traffic cone with that had the piece of paper with "slow down" written on it, that had nothing to do with anything.

There's a lot more to it, but for the few of us that were in that corner of fandom (I'm looking at you @finalproblem and @bakerstreetskulls), it was a lot of fun. In fact, after my initial reichencrack theory (which i deleted by accident because i didn't know how tumblr worked at the time), I posted mostly traffic cone pieces for literally weeks until I realized that the joke was drying up.

So that's it. Ten years on tumblr. It has been interesting, it has been fun, and I've certainly had a lot of ups and downs, but I'm very happy people are still checking out my pieces.

Tomorrow will be normal, I promise!
