isaiah joseph banks, known as his boxing alias mr. sandman, was born on april 12th to victoria banks and george banks in the Doylestown Hospital. born to loving parents, isaiah grew up as an only child.

isaiah learned to keep to himself and care for himself very early on, as both of his parents were usually at work. they worked hard to provide for isaiah and themselves, but always put their son first. they

the time they spent at work would be made up at home, albeit this time could never be fully made up for a young isaiah. he had spent more time with babysitters and nannies than his own parents. of course, isaiah knew his parents loved him, but all the bonds that were supposed to be formed hadn’t; the time frame had passed.

the time they did spend together was… memorable, really. not in a bad way, but every moment— every waking minute— made isaiah into the man he is today.

every night, when his mother was home early enough, she would sing him a soft lullaby. when she wasn’t, his mother had recorded this lullaby onto a tape for him to listen to. this lullaby was the song that made mr. sandman: Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes. it wasn’t a typical children’s lullaby by any means, but by god he loves that song— present tense intended.

then, a problem arose: school. starting middle school is one thing, but isaiah found out how cruel children could be.

isaiah was big, to put it lightly. five foot six at age 12 was enough ground for bullying, and being dropped off by a few different babysitters/nannies in the morning only added to the ammunition.

with how big he was, the bullying never went farther than verbal harassment. soft giggling every time he talked in class, glances from across the classroom, the bullying was subtle except for the occasional direct blow to isaiah.

his boxing interest began when he was thirteen, where his parents enrolled him in a self defense class that revolved around boxing and the sort. they had found out about the bullying from the babysitters, as isaiah had been reporting what they had been saying to him. there, young isaiah learned the basics of boxing: dodging, punching, and jabs had been added to his arsenal.

isaiah had always relished in the safety of knowing that he’d never get attacked at school, but unfortunately this was false.

it was brutal really; the poor boy had been caught in the bathroom and was attacked from behind, slammed his face into the sink, and assaulted from there. it took around two minutes for teachers to hear the commotion, but they were two minutes too late.

there, isaiah was brought to the hospital. no one truly knows the full extent of his injuries, minus his parents. if you look closely at mr. sandman, his top teeth are a little crooked.

nothing exactly eventful happened other than he moved schools, and everything was smooth from there.

his boxing career began to take off when he was 17, when he met an old babysitter of his— one who had taken care of him up until he was 13. he had become a boxing coach and offered to take isaiah up as a student.

if you ever ask mr. sandman in an interview about his boxing idol, he’d most likely say his coach. that man taught him nearly everything he knows, and even taught him the dreamland express move that mr. sandman is most known for, albeit modified.

mr. sandman picked up his alias when his coach told him about the WVBA and their boxers. it was almost inevitable he’d choose mr. sandman in honor of his mother.

he had his first fight at age 18, where it went swimmingly well. records of this fight have been lost to time, but, according to word of mouth, mr. sandman nearly killed the poor man.

dont take this too seriously this is very dumb for the sake of being dumb, this prob sucks but it was fun to write

(Not-So) Brief Summary

Pizza Pasta & Mad Clown run a pizza place together, they peacefully work together until a dispute ends up in them giving up on the place and selling it, before they do, they fire literally everyone who works there and both of them part ways.

The place gets bought by Mr Dream, he proceeds to re-furnish the place, he looks for new employees and comes across glass joe and hits him up for a interview, joe gets hired instantly within the first 10 minutes of the interview, he's absolutely shocked but works anyway because he needs the job.

Joe works for a while until the work gets too much for only one person to handle, so Mr Dream hires someone else to help him: Mr Sandman, so the two hit it off well & work together, the place gets pretty popular and both of them get overwhelmed with work, Joe reaches out to Mr Dream and asks for him to get more employees, Mr Dream accepts and requests for Joe to interview people & put up some signs, just advertise in general.

Piston Hondo notices the advertisements and decides to go for a interview, he also gets hired instantly because trying to operate a pizza place with 2 people and 1 manager is absolutely horrid because the more the merrier for Mr Dream. All of them go through the same loop of working on the weekdays until Aran crashes his car directly into the kitchen, Mr Dream is NOT having it so he sues him, Aran Ryan cannot afford a proper lawyer and struggles to pay for the damages so Mr Dream and him come to an agreement: Aran will work to pay off the damage he did & work to get himself a new car since his old one is wrecked, Aran agrees to work and they're back to normal again. (minus the huge hole in the wall where Aran's car hit.)

That is, until some faithful day where a very,very angry customer thats gotten pissed off thanks to a very wrong delivery that caused in a allergy mishap and hospitalization comes to kick Aran's ass, said angry customer being Bald Bull himself, they throw hands and Aran gets his ass handed to him by Bull, Mr Dream gets pissed off about one of his only employees being completely unable to work, so Mr Dream sues him and Bull is not willing to accept it so he tells Mr Dream to come meet & fight him, Mr Dream accepts under one condition: If he loses, he works for Mr Dream, they agree to fight and Joe, Sandman and Hondo come watch the fight, dragging Aran along to watch & record, Bald Bull gets his shit wrecked and has to work for Mr Dream because a promise is a promise.

Everything is still somehow normal (If we ignore the fact that Mr Dream has sued 2 different people and theres still a huge hole in the wall Aran's car hit.)

One day, Mr Dream strolls into the place and everyone is absolutely baffled because he had been gone for 6 months, he comes in with Super Macho Man, saying that he's the new manager and that he doesn't have enough time to manage the place & his own life at the same time, of course, everyone is shocked, but still accepts it nonetheless.

Macho Man has a decent chunk of money so he buys the place, leaving Mr Dream to do his own thing, Macho gets the wall fixed and refreshes the place a little, making the place bigger, adding new recipes and getting new stuff.

Theres a new horde of customers thanks to the new improvements, so much so that everyone has been getting burned out again, one specific employee gets so angry and tired that he just quits on the spot one day, said employee being Glass Joe, everyone pretty much begs for him to not quit since hes one of the only proper cooks there.

Everyone tells Macho that joe quit, Macho does not care one bit and so he hires Soda Popinski to replace him, plus Soda had been already on good terms with Macho so he was kind of rigging the game.

Joe eventually comes back since the bills aren't gonna pay themselves and Soda decides to stay to help everyone just in case it happens again.

Hondo starts to feel unappreciated, he complains to Macho about it and Macho just assumes hes planning to quit so he searches out for another employee to help him, he just so happens to stumble upon someone looking to save up more money to get a gift for their lover you probably guessed who it is, its Don Flamenco.

Don starts to work to get Carmen a nice gift for their anniversary, he originally planned to do it behind Carmen's back but got caught since Carmen went snooping around since she was curious where he was going, once she found out she thought it was funny how he was getting so tense over being found out working at a pizza place.

Everyone keeps working together, its all nice until Joe starts complaining about seeing odd silhouettes near the garbage bins & finding stuff scattered on the floor, he keeps tolerating it until he has enough and throws a entire ass bin at the odd silhouette and ends up wacking a bear on the head,Joe doesn't think much of it except the fact that he saw a bear.

Joe keeps doing his thing until going out to take the trash out again and getting ready to throw a bin again, he full-on gets attacked by a bear, full stop. Fortunately someone steps in and stops joe from getting murdered, said person being bear hugger. (how creative i know)

Joe watches in horror as he watches a man say the words "This isn't like you!" to a literal bear, bear hugger offers to pay for Joe's medical bills, joe is willing to settle for it but Macho refuses, wanting to go to court, Bear hugger doesn't want to bother going to court so he offers to work for him on the spot. Macho accepts. (suprisingly reluctanctly)

While joe tries to recover from the bear attack, Macho notices the morale has been getting low, so he wants to get someone to cheer them up, And he stumbles upon someone he finds interesting he met through Soda Popinski.

He meets Disco Kid and loves his energy, he hires him (with a proper interview this time) and gets along with him pretty well, everyone also liked him a lot.

Macho makes the wonderful connection of "happier = more work = more money" And decides to hire someone to make everyone even happier, Great Tiger! (also with a proper interview, no more impulsive hiring.)

Macho starts to notice that people are getting too focused on chatting & joking around so much that theres nothing getting done, Macho wants to get someone to iron out the team and tighten some screws, he comes across a man looking for employement which fits his vision of someone to straighten everyone out, it doesn't work and Macho is devastated.

Also, King Hippo gets interviewed and promises to help him manage everyone, he suprisingly keeps that promise and the teams all happy now. Yay!!!

Dreamzzz season2 spoilers pt.1

Alright. Starting from episode 1

I didn't realize that Cooper having a sudden interest in chips would be a hint to something later(it probably isn't but it seems like it to me). Cooper apperantly had a full list of things to fix and make... also the Night Bureau really can't do their job done properly can they. How does Cooper go to school? And study? And get good grades?? Also love how everyone names their cars

It was cool seeing Sneak working with them. And Nova, too bad they... uh- dissapear after like... episode 4? I think

Mateo trying to find a way to get z-blob back, and the Nightmare king... why is he such an icon all of a sudden?? Like-

Also, I like that how Mateo got the kid show treatment. Might as well sing 'we're all in this together'

And Dallas joining the knitting club!!

It was pretty nice. Just a simple small detail, but I like stuff like that so... Looks like he's not going to be bullying anyone now

It was very fun watching the crows(ravens? Don't remember) snatch their memories. When I saw what the memories that was stolen were about I started screaming like-

I actually think they all have a good reasoning. Logan always loved his music(would've been better if he forgot how to sing entirely) , Cooper... well he's the tech guy, and for Izzie, she was the who accepted the dream world the fastest. Who liked it the most in the first season right? There are more cool and amazing reasons than this but my stupid brain can't think of anything else right now

Episode 2

Apperantly there's a lava realm? Cool

Mr. Oz being angry, Logan being.. well, Logan. And Cooper is just adorable. He's having so much trouble. His purpose in life kinda snap

And when everyone else just jumps into the castle, Izzie takes her time to take the stairs

Cooper looks so happy until his mind went blank and his face is just- 'dude wait, what was I doing?' I thought he lost his tech skills?? Why did he become... dumber? It's cute though

Cooper getting pressured by his family again- (is it just me or does he get his character development after like... two episodes and be the one stable guy holding the team together? He's useful. Like actually useful) Cooper's voice also wouldn't stop cracking

Also kinda funny how all of Mateo's dreamcrafting gets blob-ified

Zoey! Why would you randomly jump into a cauldron!! (Also, the Night Hunters memory being Zoey- I already had a feel)

Imagine a kid suddenly pulling out an apron and asking for a kitchen to work in. During a science project (he's a chef now), he also just... kept the flan? Thing, in his locker-.... is that... okay?

I mean... I did watch this science show on Netflix about these super smart girls and their names being mc². And one of them bakes. Using science. I mean... science works in everything... and I guess if the teachers said okay then its.. okay?

Sandman and Never Witch fighting, he will be remembered. It was pretty cool actually. I wonder if they have any history

Are there anythings that you would have changed about The Sandman?

The show or the comic?

Plenty of things I'd change about the comic. As great as the story is, it is a product of its time and there are some underlying messages whether intentional or not that are inappropriate and fucked up and don't really belong such as:

The racism towards black women implied to be cursed to die violently when linked to Morpheus in some way following the Nada situation.

In fact the whole Nada story is pretty gross. When she thinks that by cutting her hymen she'll remove her virginity to put Dream off her, but then its stated that healing her hyman doesnt restore her lost virginity... like first of all. No. Second of all - shoving a rock up your vag does NOT remove your virginity lets not spread the message that it does.

The way Dream comes across a bit rapey in the Nada story overall and its not made clear how much influence Desire has in that.

The inherent misogyny which is typical of 80s/90s comics but in particular the violence towards women and overt sexualisation of women. Whether for shock value or not, its just not necessary.

The implied message that depressed and suicidal people should just kill themselves and everything will be better once they are gone.

The idea that a person who is depressed can be replaced by a better good version of themselves and even their family and friends will just treat that person as the new them. The implication that the depressed person isnt valued and must instead conform to the responsibilities and burdens of the system they are trapped in - rather than changing the system.

The concept that the moon is inherently transphobic and that witchcraft is transphobic just irks me as a pagan person- like yeah there are huuuuge problems in the community and the whole divine feminine and fucking womb magic bullshit is all over it but I really really hate how Sandman perpetuates that myth and indicates its the goddess that encourages that view and not asshole closed minded people. The moon isnt fucking transphobic FFS.

Everything about Gwen and Hobs relationship in Sunday Mourning. Its problematic AF and I hope I don't need to explain why.

Not a fan of the portrayal of Loki and Sigyn. Its too black and white for such a complex myth.

That fucking awful reaping joke in Collectors which I loathe with every fibre of my being.

Even with all these points I want to caveat this by saying that I love these comics. I KNOW that a lot of this is subjective and open to interpretation. These things have many shades of grey to them. I adore the comics in so many ways but that doesn't mean they dont have their issues. I know people are emotionally connected to these comics and this criticism isnt meant as an attack on them.

For the show, well tbh I think its practically perfect, but a couple of niggles:

That fucking awful reaping joke in Collectors - can't BELIEVE they kept that in. I mute my TV at that moment so I don't have to hear it every time.

Hob's slave trade ties - They needed clarity here and should have kept the regret in 1889 more obvious. I understand why they changed it but I think that topic should have been thought through better.

There were complaints I read about how black characters and black men in particular seem to disproportionately suffer violent deaths. I know this was unintentional and a simple matter of open casting for extras and minor characters which is a GOOD thing, but sometimes casting should be less blind, and more considered where minorities are concerned.

Some of the dialogue in Johanna Constantine's episode is clunky - but that only bothers me because I've watched it 284929294787 times and have it memorised.

Despair was handled poorly. It wasnt great rep for fat bodies (like me) and she comes across so weak and submissive to Desire. Which she just isn't at all in the comic. Thankfully it looks like they really did take that criticism to heart and made positive changes in Dead Boy Detectives. She was fabulous in her cameo in that.

Not enough gay sex. The 1 star homophobic reviews really overexaggerated on that and left me disappointed. There should have been at least 1 gay or lesbian sex scene in every episode. Do better season 2. Do better. (For legal reasons this one is a joke - Sandman is a goldmine of queer rep and should be on every queer fans watch list 100 times over)

There you go. No piece of media is perfect. There can always be changes and improvements, but the Sandman is a story that really does fit the description of masterpiece. I think my ideas of things that need to change are generally matters of framing. I dont think the comic story should be drastically changed in the show, I don't think it should be given a different ending. Its a tragedy after all, but tragedy can come in many forms and perhaps the story can be adjusted so the tragedy isnt so harsh. But anyway. This is all just my opinion and as with all things i'm sure there will be plenty of people who disagree with me.

It has been 3,000 years since I became mother nature, but that's what Manny calls me. You know the man in the moon.

Anyway, I'm currently doing my nightly watch of my precious animals and weather when I see an abnormally large rabbit zoom past me. "Hello?" I yelled as I saw it again. "Who are you, and what do you want!" "So it is true a new Guardian." Out of the dark street I saw a large bunny with a holster filled with Easter eggs, while holding a red sack. "Bunnymund?" "That's right mate." "You asshole" "Language." "I prefer not to." "Hmp, have it your way." All of a sudden I saw two yetis pick me up and throw me into the sack. "Hey what the hell?!?!" "See Yeah there!" Bunnymund threw me somewhere as I heard his yelling along with the yetis.

"Ahh what the fuck!" I screeched as I felt hard ground beneath me. "Shh, guys I can't believe she's here." I opened the bag up to see 5 figures standing in front of me. "Where am I?" "Oh my sweet y/n your at the north pole." A fairy looking girl came flying up to me. "North Pole? Wait it exists?" "Yes it is, now let me introduce myself and the rest of us. My name is North also known as Santa. This is tooth." North pointed to the fairy lady.

"I'm tooth, also know as the Tooth Fairy!" She gleamed as she helped me stand up.  "This is Bunnymund" North point out to the rabbit like human. "Asshole I growled at him." "I'm not an asshole sweetheart, I'm the Easter Bunny" I groaned.

"This is Sandy" North pointed to a sleepy cloud of a man. "Sandy, Sandy wake up" North poked him until he woke with a startle. Above Sandy was a sandy hand that waved to me. "He is also known at Sandman." North chuckled.

"And lastly this is Jack." North pointed to a young man with white hair; along with a blue hoodie and staff. This has to be the most attractive man I have ever laid eyes on.  "I'm Jack frost, nice to meet you." "Th-thanks" I blushed

Some how some way a dark figure appears out of thin air as I'm pollinating the desert flowers. "Ah, you must be the new Guardian." He growled as his full appearance came into view. "Your Pitch." "Yes I am, my dear." "Where's Sandy you asshole?" I growled. "No where my dear." Pitch thrusted his hands out as 3 horses came after me. Immediately I threw out some thunder clouds but that no effect on them whatsoever.

"No, please dont!" I cried as the dark powder ingulfed me.

Jack's POV

Since the day y/n has became a Guardian, there was like a magnetic force attached to her, like it was ment to be. In my gut I felt like I met her in some way shape or form which, in then we became close friends.

As I was flying around with baby tooth, I heard a familiar name being called. So I followed it.

When I found the sound it led me to and old bed where pitch was standing. "Pitch." I growled at him. "Why hello Jack" He chuckled as he held something gold in his hand that had y/n face on the end of the tube.

"Why do you have that Pitch?" "Oh this little thing?" "Why don't you find out!" I lunged at him but he disappeared. "Oh Jack! Come and find me!" Baby tooth was no longer on my shoulder, as panic rose in my chest. I followed his voice until I made it to a snowy area, where he stood with baby tooth in one hand and in the other y/n. "Jack" She cried as she saw me. "Y/n, baby tooth."

"Oh looky here, I have two of Jack's favorite things in the world, his friend baby tooth and his wife y/n."  Wife, wait I have a wife? "Now in order to save these two you can give me the staff and all of this will be over." I glared at him and then down to baby tooth and y/n. "Jack don't do it, I'm fine!" She yelled before being shut up by pitches powder.

I needed to save them, so I gave him my staff. "Now give them to me." Pitch smiled before he spoke. "No." Pitch broke the staff as I felt a pain in my stomach. "Jack!" I heard someone yell before a force threw me to the ice wall.

After Pitch threw Jack, he threw me, baby tooth and the staff right after him. Then came darkness, I felt a little tap of my face as I opened my eyes to see baby tooth looking at me with concern. "Baby tooth are you okay" She let out a little squeak in response. I looked over and saw Jack passed out cold. "Jack!" I crawled over to where Jack laid as I placed my hands on his cheeks.

"Jack, please wake up." He let out a groan as his eyes started to slowly open. "Y/n." His voice deep, from coming back from consciousness. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine, Jack." He let out a content sigh as he shifted to sit up. As he was doing so I noticed a gold thing poking from his pocket.

"Jack what is that?" I pointed to his pocket. "I dunno, baby tooth gave me this and she saved yours to." He handed me the tube as I ran my hands over it. Before I could say anything memories came flooding back.

"Hi, I'm y/n. What's your name?" "My name is Jackson, wanna be friends?" "Sure!" A younger me chirped as I hugged the brown haired boy. Then came another memory: "Jack?" "Hmm?" "I like you." I let out a blush as the teen Jack kissed my hands. "I like you to y/n" Jack started to lean in as we met in a kiss. "Thank you" "Your welcome" He chuckled as we bumped our foreheads together.

As the last memory came in I saw myself crying while laying in bed. I had a love letter that was signed by  Jack as his sister came in to tell me he had fallen in the ice. "Jack's gone y/n, he fell through the ice." A little girl told me. "My husband is gone" I cried as I was brought back to the present.

I looked over at Jack as I felt tears flowing down my cheeks. "I had a wife, and- and it was you" He said shocked. He then looked at me and engulfed me in a hug. "I'm sorry y/n." "Jack" I cried as he planted a kiss on my head. He broke the hug and looked at me. "I'm your husband?" "Yeah, and I saw you, it was weird." I chuckled. "We were in love?" He whispered as he took my hands in his.

Baby tooth let out a little nod as we both smiled. Immediately Jack locked his lips with mine as we kissed with so much passion it hurt. "Jack, I love you!" "I love you to mother nature" He chuckled as he imbraced me in another hug.

dr who (of any regeneration but i stared believing with the 10th) as fully asexual, sex neutral, not quite replused but is like whats the hype? Humans are weird. I also comsider him somewhere in the demiromantic, greyromantic sides of things. I wasnt mad when he was put in romantic relationships, but i dont think hes the type to often seek them out. (Paired with abandonment issues i dont think he ever needs a romantic parter (like do allos think they need a romantic partner??? Idk))

Sherlock (from bbc sherlock) idk if this is self explanatory or not i guess not since ive seen a lot of johnlock stuff in my time lol. But like he is confused by every concepr of sex and romance. I have a couple for these! For The Old Guard, I was really not into Book of Nile at first, but now I kinda love the idea. Them having a slow burn romance and learning to grow together??? That’s a vibe.

And for my darling Crows, I didn’t (platonically) know how to fit Matthias into the group for a very long time. This is less something that other people changed my mind on, and more just me digging around in my own little brain. Now, Jesper and Matthias are a couple of my favourite buddies! And Matthias, Jesper and Wylan as buddies. I mostly just think that Matthias Helvar is criminally underrated in the fandom, and I hope we get a spin-off/season 3– just to see all the crows together, if for no other reason.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

Andy and Bookerrrrrr. It’s a no for me. I think he’s been in and out of infatuation with her multiple times, but it’s a headcanon, not a ship to me.

And anything having to do with Kuwei. I don’t understand the hate he gets, but I also don’t really care about him (that sounds mean— I can sympathise with him as a character, and appreciate the role he serves throughout the books, I’m just not interested in fandomising him at all). He is a plot device that I continually forget about, and when I am reminded of his existence, especially through a pairing, I’m confused and blindsided. I wish I could enjoy/appreciate him more, but unlike the crows, who I can see as young twenty-somethings, Kuwei is firmly planted in “young teenager” energy. He’s un-shippable to me.

Ummm. I don’t really know. I feel like the second season of good omens applies— I haven’t seen the second season, and have little interest in watching it, but I see my mutuals having a grand time with it. And that’s fun!

In a similar vein, Sandman! And more specifically Dreamling! I love this pairing, but have never watched the show because Tom Sturridge makes my eating disorder very loud. But I LOVE the idea of Dream and Hob Gadling, and I still read fic and see it on my dash a bunch.

Also Red, White, and Royal Blue. It was cute, and I enjoyed watching it, but there’s A LOT I really didn’t like about it, and I enjoy it much more for its potential as an au template (👀 I am Looking at You, my friend👀). For fake countries/kingdoms, and different characters. I love how much a lot of my mutuals enjoy it, though, and I see it on my dash a lot! And I’m always happy for us queers to have a frothy and fun little romcom.

5. TV show of the year? hmmmm, which to pick, which to pick. I guess I'll pick The Sandman(thats a close call tho)mostly because of Hob. im not sure why, but its a relatively common theme in stories to show why you dont want immortality, that the world will one day break you, as you watch as one by one everything and everyone youve ever loved crumbles around you. I suppose if I really stretch, I can understand where this came from, but for a kid trying thyre best to find a reason to stay alive, its not really the best lesson. and then seeing Hob say no, fuck it, there will always be beauty in the world to discover, and new, wonderful things to learn, and there is always a reason to live. idk, it meant alot to me.

7. Favorite actor of the year? Mason Alexander Park(desire in sandman), or Vico Ortiz(jim from ofmd). they are both such fun interesting people, and seeing nonbinary characters in shows I love means a lot to me, and since I want to go into some sort of film seeing them succeed is really encouraging

Something that made you cry this year? other than the ever present crushing weight of being alive? podcasts. in a genral note, I have cried soooo many times listening to wtnv, tma, and malevolent, but the most interest time was when I went to the wtnv live show in Boston this past summer. I started crying before the show even started. It was my first time to a big city, and I was already exited to see so many different people. as people started to file into the theater I started to notice that I felt safe. I was on my own, but I didnt feel lonely. and maybe it seems a stupid thing to cry about, but everyone in that theater was brought together by a common love, and that love was apparent. everyone was different, each dressed in their own unique way, and yet no one was out of place, including me. As someone whos always been at least a little out of place and lonely, that night meant a lot to me, and i started silently crying as the lights dimmed.

- they gossip a whole lot together, about literally anything

- Macho cant stand horror & Sandman is the complete opposite, so during horror movies Macho Man is just hiding behind Sandman while Sandmans just watching

- they had a entire ass enemies to lovers arc, they started out hating each other, then got along a bit more thanks to their shared love of gossiping

- nobody really knows theyre dating and just assumes them to be frenemies who weigh heavy on each side

- both of them cant cook to save their lives, Macho Man doesnt really bother about learning to cook since "its what deliveries are for anyway" while Sandman is actually bothering to learn how to cook

- Macho Man is scared of the dark and is still trying to hide it from sandman, he already knows it because he's watched him shiver in fear after they watched a horror movie & went to sleep with the lights closed

ohhhh ive gotta dig it up but my dad was a big sandman fan back in hte day we have a few comics lying around. he figures we mustve left the full graphic novels in the philippines but we have some issues here somewhere. there's a lot of Delirium in them, i dont think she's shown up in the tv show yet but she's really cool neil gaiman's been my favorite writer since like. 10th grade

Listening to The Sandman Audible again and I can't help but think about a few interesting choices made including:

1. Hob and Dream have absolutely ZERO chemistry. Like there is nothing there at all. I physically can NOT ship Audible Hob and Dream the actor playing Hob is just far too Straight and kinda annoying #sorrynotsorry. I've listened to Hob's scenes with Dream in Audible a few times now for my Dreamling meta essay and its literally a zero on the chemistry front. There is nothing compelling there I'm afraid.

2. However Dream and Lucifer have amaaazing chemistry and its honestly difficult to listen too WITHOUT assuming they had a fling back in the old days. Its implied in the comics, but imo they went pretty heavy in this (clearly Michael Sheen knows all about getting fans to ship his characters lol).

3. Titania x Dream is confirmed in Audible. They talk about how they slept together in A Midsummer Nights Dream (I checked and this isn't in the comic and Titania refuses to talk about her relationship with Dream in The Wake so its only ever implied until the Audible show). This officially makes Titania the only confirmed ex lover Dream is actually still on good terms. Something worth exploring in our meta analysis perhaps?

4. What the hell happened in Babylon? Okay so do y'all remember Pharamond? The transportation guy who helps Dream and Delirium travel on Earth? Yeah I barely paid attention to him in the comic, but in the Audible show he's like a super simp for Dream. I dunno if its just me but the chemistry between them is heady... like with Lucifer I get a strong impression that something went down between them and I'm just gonna go ahead and consider "we drank wine together in Babylon" a euphemism from now on.

5. Furry Porn...? I am absolutely dyyying to know how Netflix plans to portray Lady Bast, and Dream when Lady Bast sees him, because they dont have a lot of options tbh. Either they pull a Doctor Who cat people thing (which is always gonna look clunky and low budget) or they do some form of uncanny valley style CGI (prob the most likely option) or they just go full furry outfits (the funniest option imo however unlikely). Either way though, the Audible show turns up the heat. I love the voice actress for Bast, she totally leans in to the sexy kitten persona - like Cat Woman but extra furry and in heat. I wanna see the cat lady totally come on to Tom's Dream and see his reaction to her propositioning him whilst he has a cat face. Do NOT chicken out Netflix. You better lean into the extra weird even if it does end up looking like furry porn. I wanna see it, and I'm not even a furry! 😅

6. The Goddess of Love in the strip club - honestly HOW are they gonna adapt this? Its difficult enough having to listen to Neil Gaiman's voice explaining in graphic detail how the men watched her dance whilst ejaculating over and over again until they were "cumming blood".

Also "you really don't like women do you?" One issue before "he's gotta stop hanging out with poets and stick with me, I'll set him straight."

Dream really isn't beating the gay allegations anytime soon lmao.

I've seen about 3 minutes of Morbius and it was so weird seeing Matt Smith be evil fhshd

Same with David Tennant as Kilgrave, but seeing him as Crowley was alright (ofc crowley isn't fully "evil") but half the time i forgot that Crowley is David Tennant anyway. I've also seen David Tennant as the Dad in There She Goes and as both Mr Peterson's in Nativity (one of whom, I suppose was evil lol). And I swear I saw him in some romcon too?

I watched Holby City/Casualty before the fugitive doctor was a thing so I knew Jo from that, but I didn't actually realise Kate's actor was also in Holby. I probably shouldve bc i have definitely seen her in it
