Support my Senior Thesis Film:
ZERMI'S PARADOX
My senior thesis film, Zermi's Paradox, is currently in production!
The film follows a little alien space cadet named Zermi, who must convince his senior officers that we—the human race, that is—are a species worth contacting. Can he do it? Find out when the film releases!
The film combines hand-drawn 2D animation, 2.5D rigging techniques, 3D animation and motion graphics, showing off all the animation know-how I've picked up while pursuing my BA. I'm overjoyed to finally put it into production, and I couldn't ask for a better team of animators, artists and designers to help me pull it off.
To help support myself and my animators as we work on this project, I've opened up a new Zermi's Paradox Backer tier on my Patreon!
Your contribution goes towards:
Providing my volunteer crew of fellow students with free meals in exchange for their work on the film (we're in college, of course, so free food goes a long way).
Submission fees for film festivals, once the film is completed.
General support for me, a starving soon-to-be college graduate.
In return, you get:
Exclusive access to behind-the-scenes photos and videos, including concept art, rough cuts of shots, and more!
(Admittedly sporadic) progress reports about the state of the film.
Your name in the "Patreon Backers" section of the credits.
Early access to the completed cut of "Zermi's Paradox" before it's made its festival rounds.
My everlasting gratitude!
We'll need all the help we can get to get the film finished before the semester ends, so please consider contributing!
Back Zermi's Paradox on Patreon today!

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

ehehe,,, got invited to play a ttrpg based on outer wilds by @thefoodwiththedood and am very excited for it. So here is my character because of COURSE i have to draw them,,,
[ID: a digital, fully coloured drawing of Kiesel, the artists OC.
They are a greyish-blue Hearthian in a light brown sweater, black pants and boots, wearing a large brown backpack. Their clothes are patched up with duct tape. They are wearing a hearing aid on their left ear which consists of a piece inside the ear, a small cable that is running down to a little box at their chest. They are looking to the right and smiling.
Next to them is a list with traits. “- scribe - doctor/swimmer/botanist - scared of worms - has a hurdy-gurdy - recently divorced”
“hearing aid on left ear” is written in the upper right corner and points to the hearing aid.
The Background is a plain beige. /end ID]

Tell me more about Wix (for that ask meme thing) :D
Full Name: Wixitan keeps their name a secret, they've been going by Wix since they were 14Gender and Sexuality: Gender ??? they're Demi/pansexual and sex positivePronouns: They/sheEthnicity/Species: 3/4 fluffy Devo and 1/4 CatharBirthplace and Birthdate: born on Devaron 36bbyGuilty Pleasures: Eating good food, sleeping all day, cuddling people, getting high enough to forget everything and relax. (Crying)Phobias: deep ocean? Regular ocean and going sailing is fine but you will NEVER get the in a submarine. The dark. Suffocation. Not being good enough. Commitment. What They Would Be Famous For: some ridiculous daredevil stunt done for the AngelsWhat They Would Get Arrested For: being affiliated with the Angels. Or being destructive/drunk/high in publicOC You Ship Them With: uhhhhhh no one yet? Wix will sleep around though, they enjoy sex and skin to skin contact. OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Tal'as or another inquisitor I'm cooking upFavorite Movie/Book Genre: hmm, high drama, high emotion, think those overly dramatic stories that still some how sweep you awsyLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: horror and war, Wix sees enough of that on the daily...Talents and/or Powers: and ace pilot who has nothing to lose, a mild force sensitivity that allows them to pull off some Extra stuntsWhy Someone Might Love Them: before all of Serat went down, Wix was bright and bubbly, kind, gentle. But now she keeps to herself, prickly and angry. But at her center, Wix still cares about the Angels. Why Someone Might Hate Them: Rude, angry, will fight you, pessimistic. They've lost most of their hope and can be a huge downer. How They Change: as said above they go from a bright, young, hopeful, and vibrant individual; to a deeply depressed and angry person who's looking for a way to die. (While also being too scared of death to go through with it)Why You Love Them: because I believe they'll get a happy ending. And I have hope for them. I'm also projecting really hard onto them sooooo

blOOP (for Woad and/or Inna, I'd love to hear more about them! :D)
My new children!! I’ll do both for ya ;)
Because Inna has such a thick ruff of fur, her neck pretty much never gets cold. In her downtime she knits scarves for anyone who doesn’t have neck fur in an effort to keep them warm. (Woad has about seven at this point)
Woad has a secret love of romantic holodramas. They curl up late at night to watch them and bawl their eyes out. Inna doesn’t really like them that much (she thinks they’re a little over the top and exaggerated) but she’ll watch too so Woad has a shoulder to cry on.
Bonus: I didn’t show it in their image, but both of them have really intense watermelon-pink-colored eyes. When they were kids they used to give soulful, puppydog looks at their parents to convince them to let them have sleepovers at each other’s houses.
Thanks for the ask ! :D

Ziita, Toa of Fire
Once a humble matoran trader (and part-time fire dancer) from Ta-Gaio, Ziita was called upon by The Great Spirit, given a Toa Stone, and transformed into a powerful Toa of Fire. Now—armed with her elemental abilities, her trusty arm blades, and her Great Mask of Portal Generation—Toa Ziita leads her team, the Toa Omaki, against the Makuta and all their servants. Her mission: protect the Matoran, save her home from destruction, and right that what is wrong.
Ziita was one of several Bionicle MOCs I made while cooped up inside during the pandemic, and recently, in-between college classes, I finally got around to drawing her and fleshing her out as a character! Her story goes way deeper than what I've written there—feel free to ask me if you're curious about it!
More images (including the actual Bonkle build) below the cut!

Theoretically, would it be possible for a ship—say, a Harrower-class dreadnought, for example—to still be intact and in operating condition nearly 4000 years after its creation, during the original trilogy era? Or, alternatively, would it be possible/more viable to build a brand new one 4000 years later? (also, happy new year! :D)
Well, I suppose it depends on the conditions in which it’s being kept. Durasteel can be corroded, but I expect that if it was preserved well enough it wouldn’t break down too much. The Harrower-class is described as being very hardy. I’d be guessing, but I think that if you want the ship to last 4000 years you could probably get away with it. Obviously it would need refueling and recharging, but I wouldn’t reject it as a possibility.
On the other hand, the ship’s weapons and shields seem pretty similar to those around the OT era, and it’s a pretty small capital ship, so it’s also perfectly possible to build a new one, assuming you had a blueprint. It would be expensive, for sure, and it would take longer than to build than it would to restore an old one, but I think either scenario would work well enough. If anyone knows of an instance where a ship lasted that long, please feel free to add on!
Hope that helps!

@tinybuggy @keegsrawrats @numinousbones all great suggestions! Tbh, tho, I was moreso thinking about near-human species---like, ones that could pass as human from a distance. As much as I'd love to get weird with what I'm planning, the hybrid kinda has to work logically
hmmm then I’d suggest chiss or mirialan???
