I never fully realised how heartbreaking this "I choose the prophecy" thing is. Imagine you are Annabeth. Imagine you are fourteen and the boy you have a crush on since over a year just broke literally any rule, travelled across the whole country and held the dam sky to save you, and you hear him say: "I'm gonna die in two years, because otherwise this poor little boy would have to carry the burden of the prophecy and I can't let this happen."

Edit: I feel like y'all still aren't sobbing enough, so I'd also like to remind you that six months later, Annabeth goes into the labyrinth and gets the prophecy "and your love will face a fate worse than death".

Not to mention, in The Lightning Thief, Annabeth says that he sent her his ring along with an “apology” 2 years before the book takes place, meaning that man waited 3 years to get into contact with his daughter!! Even after Annabeth goes back with them in TLT, she’s back on the street again by SOM, fighting her way from Virginia to NYC at age 13. Titan’s Curse is the only time he ever does anything for Annabeth, but even then, it’s mentioned that a) She’s been at a boarding school in New York with Thalia for the school year, and b) They’re moving cross-country without taking her into account. I don’t care if they were nice to Percy and the others when they were trying to get to Annabeth. The Chases’s have an obvious and repeated pattern of not caring about Annabeth, and she has every right to hate them. I do want to say, though, that Chiron might not be her biological father, but he is her dad in every way that counts.

Do you ever think about how in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Poseidon offered Sally Jackson palace at the bottom of the sea to keep her safe but she turned it down. Hades offered to take Maria Di Angelo and her kids to the Underworld to protect them but she turned it down. then Zeus offered nothing to Beryl Grace but she would have taken it. there's something to be said there, it's definitely interesting but it's late and I'm tired.

People talk a lot about the scene from TTC when Percy meets Aphrodite and thinks she looks like Annabeth for a second but we don’t talk enough about how Aphrodite was literally THE Percabeth shipper. Captain of the ship. The Aphrodite is the mastermind who orchestrated an elaborate Shakespearean-poisoning-getaway-drama ALL so Percy could go on the quest just to save Annabeth. Aphrodite found out her favorite teen-romance weeknight soap was about to get canceled for another season and she WAS NOT letting that happen. Girlie pulled out absolutely all the stops! And then made her asshole boyfriend drive to the middle of nowhere to do a cast interview herself. Seriously, Ares was outside that limo foaming at the mouth and Aphrodite and Percy were canonically described as “giddy” just talking about it all! She was doing it all it for them, kicking her feet and twirling her hair!!!
