man ch 98 is gonna definitely be an emotional rollercoaster
#gonna talk about sui in the tags btw so dont look if thats a sensitive topic#but i dont think its too clear what exactly tanjirou would have done had nezuko actually died at any point in the journey#one of his two main goals was to cure her with the other being defeating muzan but#this chapter + the one dream chapter in rehab arc + mugen train (just all of it)#makes it so clear how much more importance he placed the first one over the second is#with him literally trying to and even successfully killing himself once nezuko was gone#its a bit different in this chapter because at this point he is so traumatized by his nightmares that he thinks nezuko burning in the sun#was just another nightmare or a test that he needed to pass through the act of seppuku#but its a strong established aspect that he can and will give up if the last person that represented his innocent past disappears#the person that stops him from fatally hurting himself is said person which could be seen as both a good and a very concerning thing#bc hey we still have our main protagonist#but the fact that he relies so heavily on the wellbeing of someone else to inform his own is just not a healthy way to#deal with that shit + the other person will begin to feel the pressure of this and not know how to deal with the discomfort#this is something he does realize by the end of ch 100 (ideally) but instead of detaching himself from nezuko and focusing#on himself he just flies to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and hates himself even more#and forces himself not to rely on anybody even if they see that hes struggling and offer help#like buddy#throwing yourself into training to the point of passing out is just another form of self harm#yelling at zenitsu for wanting you to eat food is not it#arguing with giyuu who wants you to sleep for more than 4 fucking hours is not it#refusing to talk to nezuko or even see her is not it#and like#i love how this complete 180 in his philosophy is informed through him learning about the prophecy in ch 100#even if kagaya didnt mean to influence tanjirou that way the end result was that tanjirou still believes#he is the one whos supposed to save everyone through killing muzan#that hes yoriichi's successor and he think he has to take on this burden alone#he cant afford to rely on others#he cant afford to be weak and vulnerable#and thats where he rapidly starts tumbling towards his low point#kny plot rewrite

Since ao3 is down, here is a thing that was supposed to be a twitter drabble but it got too long so I forgot about it for eight months.
Dying Wish
//open ended, pining Draco, theomione, Dramione (vaguely), Tragic Theo.
Almost everyone said that Theodore Nott marrying Hermione Granger was unexpected but not surprising. Theo had always been academically insufferable, and Granger was infamously so. The relationship could have almost been called inevitable.
Everyone had stories about the absurdly saccharine workplace romance that unfolded. Coworkers by coincidence, they both showed up for a cancelled meeting, the waiting led to a shared project, and from there a whirlwind relationship.
They were engaged within a year.
A beautiful couple, a perfect match. Despite Theo possessing the near fatal flaw of having been in Slytherin, he compensated for any suspicion held by Granger’s friends by having a tragic life story practically from the moment of conception. A mother who’d died horribly young, and a monster of a father who’d always considered his son a bitter disappointment.
Theo had never taken the Dark Mark, he’d played no part in the war. He was self-deprecating and funny, and knew how to make people like him because he cared about people liking him. The kind of man who was perfectly happy to become ‘Hermione Granger’s husband,’ unlike the previous boyfriends who always wanted her bright but not ‘too bright’.
Draco was happy for Theo. In a very detached and uninvolved way. He wasn’t such a cunt that he would resent his best friend for finding love, even if it was with a person he habitually went out of his way to avoid.
Granger was, after all, a menace with a vicious protective streak, and a known right hook. Draco, in fact, knew it personally. No one was ever going to hurt Theo again, she would make sure of it.
Theo, for his part, had spent his entire life looking for someone who’d let him love them completely. Someone to give his heart and soul to. His adoration for Granger was nauseating, an ocean of unplumbed depths.
The stars seemed to align for them, every piece falling into place to create a perfect match: Two positively revolting swots joined in matrimonial bliss, happy as could be.
No one asked Draco if he wanted to be in excruciating proximity to the entire affair, and yet he somehow was. He helped Theo plan his proposal, and then had to listen to Theo practise his speech over and over without wincing, and then illuminate over five hundred fairy lights , cue a quartet, and then fling a garden’s worth of rose petals into the air, before apparating silently away.
He was the best man. He planned Theo’s stag night. Slapped him across the face when he started hyperventilating, kept the rings from getting lost, and signed as witness to the union.
When it was done and they were off on their honeymoon, he left the reception, and went to Greece for six months in order to detox from the entire revolting affair.
When he finally forced himself to go back, he coddled himself by ignoring most of their invitations, and only accepted the ones where he could arrive late and leave early and barely speak to the hosts.
Eventually Theo stopped bothering him.
After all, it was bad enough to hear how revoltingly happy they were together without seeing them.
Malfoys were emotionally repressed on principle. His father used to say that falling in love was something only poor people did.
If Draco had to witness Granger making cow eyes at Theo, he would suffer indigestion, and his mother had always said he was constitutionally delicate.
He didn’t particularly like company anyway, and Theo’s friends were mostly Granger’s friends, which was not a circle Draco ever felt comfortable in.
His uninvolvement was going swimmingly until he received a short, informal note in shaky writing.
‘I need to see you. Please come. Theo.’
Draco had always been better at refusing formal invitations than personal ones. What the fuck would Theo suddenly want? After all these years?
He tried to ignore it, but the vagueness ate at him, niggling at his curiosity until he gritted his teeth and apparated to Nott manor.
Instead of an elf, or a butler at least answering the door it was Granger herself who opened it.
“Malfoy, you’ve finally come. Theo will be so relieved.”
He swallowed hard.
It had been a few years since he’d seen her in person. Wasn’t she supposed to be blissfully married? Weren’t happy people supposed to glow or something?
She’d been glowing at the wedding. Draco remembered all clearly the way her face had lit up when all the lights illuminated and music started, and Theo, despite Draco’s repeated warnings, was on his knees reciting a poem he’d written for her.
Draco had nearly died from second hand embarrassment.
The memory of how happy she’d looked while Theo compared her to the moon in iambic pentameter before hundreds of people, had been seared irrevocably into his skull. It would probably still haunt when he was a ghost.
She was not glowing at all now. She looked sad, and tired.
“Granger,” he said, even though he was excruciatingly aware that she was married.
He expected her to correct him out of habit, and then he’d retort that she would always be Granger to him, and then they would exchange empty banter and it would pass as conversation, but instead she just said, “Theo’s upstairs,” and led the way.
Draco expected to be led to a study, or a horrible mad scientist type lab designed for two, but instead it was a dark bedroom.
Draco baulked at the doorway, and Granger went in. He could hear the hushed murmur of voices and then she came back.
“He’s awake and having a good day, call if you need anything.” Then she left him there.
Draco watched her vanish back down the stairs before setting his jaw and entering the room. Theo was pale as a sheet, propped up with pillows, his face lit up at the sight of Draco.
“You did come, you old bastard.”
“Yes,” Draco said awkwardly. “Is Granger finally poisoning you for your family fortune?”
He’d prefer to avoid greetings or comments about how long it had been, or asking what was wrong. It was clear that something was incredibly wrong. Theo was thin and greyish, everything about him faded, not at all the picture of health Draco had assumed he would be.
That he was supposed to be.
Theo gave a wan smile. “I wouldn’t blame her, but no. My mother, you might not remember, it was a maladiction that killed her. Apparently I inherited it. Another thing my father didn’t manage to beat out of me.”
Draco’s chest clenched. “Theo, I’m—”
Theo shook his head. “It’s fine. I’ve—worked through it. Mostly. There are stages to grief apparently. That’s what the books say. I’ve moved through denial, anger, bargaining and depression. It’s not entirely a linear process but I’m mostly at the acceptance point now. Figured we should say goodbye.”
Draco just stared at him. “You can’t be serious. You invited me here for goodbyes? Fuck off. You can’t just give up like that. You’re married. You have a wife, you can’t die and leave—“
“If there was a fucking cure, Hermione would have found it,” Theo cut him off, his usually soft voice hardening in a defensive way that startled Draco. “We’ve looked. We’ve tried everything. You’d know that, if you’d ever come around. She’s been trying for years. Admitting she couldn’t—she tried so hard.”
Draco felt like he’d been struck. “I—I’m sorry. Of course you did. I’ve been away. Busy. I have responsibilities.”
Theo rolled his eyes, shaking his head. “It’s alright, I know now why you didn’t.”
Theo sat up slowly. His body seemed shrunken, like a breath of wind could carry him away. “That’s why I needed to see you. I wanted to apologise. I’m sorry for not realising it sooner. I should have. Looking back—it’s so obvious.”
Draco forced a laugh. He had no idea what Theo was talking about but he was really not enjoying the conversation.
“Realising what? What’s obvious?”
“That you’re in love with Hermione.”
Draco’s entire body went stiff, something inside him crumbled and died as his heart stopped completely. His voice failed him the first several times he tried to speak. He looked away, clearing his throat repeatedly.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. You sound mad.” He fidgeted with the potions on Theo’s bedside table, peering at them. “What kind of potions does Granger have you on?”
Theo slumped back, his eyes fluttering closed, his eyelids looked almost bruised with exhaustion. “I think back a lot. Mostly the years since the war, once my father was gone and things were getting better. I was remembering how much time we used to spend together. You were doing community service for probation, that elves thing Hermione founded. And I was going from one bad relationship to the next like some sad puppy.” He opened his eyes. “I was remembering how whenever I told you about anyone I dated, you always used to sneer and said they weren’t good enough for me, and gave the worst relationship advice ever. You Sabotaged me.”
“You had terrible taste,” Draco retorted, still sorting through the potions and still not liking at all the direction the conversation was going in. “It was a mercy on my part.”
“When I told you about Hermione, that I ran into her, and I asked you what you thought, do you remember what you said?”
“I can’t say I do,” Draco lied.
“You said I’d never be good enough for her. Then the next week, you came around again, and I remember you looked terrible and I assumed you’d had another fight with your parents, and you told me if I was serious, I should get a job at the Ministry, mentioned the rumour she’d had a time-turner at school. She was the only person you gave useful relationship advice about. Looking back, I don’t think it would have happened without you. Any of it.”
“Theo—“ Draco shifted awkwardly, having run out of potions to look at, “—it was just a joke, You can’t assume things like that. Granger? Really? Of anyone I could have feelings for. Your wife?” He exhaled raggedly. “Have you forgotten our history? Unlike you, I was a Death Eater. I was in the war. Even before then, I was awful, and they brought her to the manor and I—“
He’s rambling, he knew he was rambling. He needed to fucking shut up.
“I would never have been able to—“ His voice failed and there was a stone lodged in the bottom of his throat and he just stood there trying to keep from smashing everything within reach.
He needed a drink.
He threw a hand up, suddenly angry and turned on Theo, glaring. “It was just a fucking joke. I don’t even remember it.”
Theo simply nodded. “You were right though. I wasn’t good enough for her.”
Draco scoffed at that, turning away, inspecting the view. “I’m sure you did just fine. I always heard that you two were revoltingly happy. People said you were like some storybook couple. You two were good for each other—that’s really all that—“
He was stammering again.
He cut himself off. “You were happy together. Everyone said you made her happy. And I don’t do happiness, it gives me a rash.”
“Shut up,” Theo’s voice sharpened. “Fuck. I forgot how much you talk when you’re lying.”
He gave a heavy sigh. “You wanted us together, didn’t you? You engineered it.”
Draco gave a long suffering sigh. “Theo, you’re a moron. Just because you claim to be dying doesn’t mean I’m going to put up with a conspiracy theory that I’m in love with your wife.”
“Fuck off. You were my only friend, and you were the only reason I didn’t accidentally sabotage the relationship. All the times I would have rushed things, you stopped me. You were the reason why I managed to pull off all my harebrain romantic schemes. You made it work. And somehow I ended up married with the friends and family I always wanted, that you knew I wanted, and where the fuck did you go? Where have you been since then? Not here, that's for sure.”
Draco glanced out the window. “You wanted a new start, Theo. It was all you talked about once your father was in Azkaban. I was the past. Once you were married, you didn’t need me anymore. I was a hindrance.”
“You manipulated me,” Theo said, looking unreasonably infuriated for someone who’d gotten to marry the love of his life. “You self-loathing fuck. You thought you had it all worked out, had everything puppet-mastered. You nudged me right into her path to love her for you. Pushed us together so you would be alone the way you’ve convinced yourself you deserve to be.” He sounded winded. “Fuck. I’d punch you if I had the strength. And the thing I’m the most pissed off about, is that I was so enamoured, I didn’t notice. I thought it all worked perfectly that time because it was meant to.”
If Theo was expecting a confession he was going to be terribly disappointed.
“Maybe it did. I don’t know what you expect me to say about any of this. Even if any of that were true, what does it matter?”
“It matters,” Theo said.
Draco rolled his eyes.
“It matters because you have to take care of her when I’m gone.”
Draco’s heart stalled for a second time, but he recovered faster. “I’m sure you can get everything arranged in advance so she’ll be fine.”
“That’s what I’m doing right now. I can’t ask her friends to do this. They love her, but they don’t understand how to care for her. She takes care of everyone, but she doesn’t remember to take care of herself. She needs someone to be selfish for her, who will do whatever it takes to put her first. I can’t be your proxy anymore, it has to be you now.”
Draco’s neatly manicured nails were biting into his palm, he didn’t even know when his fists had clenched. “Theo…”
“I have spent so much time worrying about her, feeling like I can’t go because who’d be here to make sure she was alright. I’ve considered everyone, and when I got to you, I brushed you off at first, because you used to talk about how you couldn’t stand her. But eventually I wondered, why did you do so much to bring us together? If you really hated her so much. You always knew what she’d like. You figured things out about her that it took me ages to piece together. And you’re actually a rather shit liar, now that I’ve been thinking about it, if you’d really hated her, you would have been a lot nastier than you were.”
“I still don’t see the point in this conversation,” Draco said in a bored tone. “Granger can take care of herself. Especially with your fortune.”
Theo exhaled, like he was too tired now to fight anymore. “You are missing the point on purpose and we both know it.”
Draco did not know any such thing, still it was difficult to keep looking at Theo and he turned away.
“You did a good job at it. I’ll admit, you are the manipulative person I have ever known, if I weren’t dying, I probably would have never known. But now it’s my turn to be manipulative.”
“Well a good rule of thumb is not to tell the person you’re trying to manipulate that you’re doing it,” Draco said in a dry voice, turning to face him.
Theo was holding up his wand and had a wry smile on his face. “Fair enough. But I do have one final piece of leverage.”
Comprehension slowly dawned on him. “Theo, don’t you—“
“Draco Malfoy, it is my dying wish that you care for my wife when I am gone. Support her in her grief, and help her find joy in her future. Be there for her once I can’t be. Help her find herself again. Do you accept?”
Death Wishes were magic out of old grimoires. The kind that only insufferable people like Theo Nott would know how to perform.
Usually they were curses pronounced as the person died, but a rare iteration was rather like an Unbreakable Vow, if Draco refused, Theo would not pass on after death but instead linger as a ghost, attempting to fulfil the wish himself. If Draco accepted and then broke his word, Theo would come back from the afterlife and haunt him.
Bullshit all around either way.
Theo’s wand pulsed with magic, waiting for Draco’s answer.
Draco stood glaring at him. “I hate you.”
Theo glared right back. “If you weren’t such a self-sabotaging, self-loathing moron I wouldn’t have to do this. You think I want you hanging around my wife? I don’t. But being your proxy was also a shit realisation, consider this my way of getting even. You will make Hermione happy and you will get over your self-hatred and do it yourself this time or I will haunt you and I will make sure Hermione knows exactly why it is that I’m doing it. Do you accept?”
The magic was humming louder, growing brighter and Theo was beginning to turn translucent as though the magic was draining his life from him.
“Fine. Yes! I accept.”
The magic flared out and flew across the room, striking Draco and fading into him. He clutched at his chest but the light had gone.
He looked up.
“Fuck you, you manipulative bastard,” Draco finally said, his heart was pounding.
Theo just gave another wry smile. “You know, that’s exactly what I wanted to say when you walked in.” He sank back into bed, looking winded. “I’m glad you came to see me. I was starting to worry you wouldn’t and I was going to have to come up with a whole extra scheme. You saved me a lot of trouble. All worth it for Hermione though, right?”
Draco turned without another word and headed toward the door, desperate to be gone, even though he could feel Theo’s wish like a brand inside his soul waiting to come alive.
“You should go see Hermione,” Theo’s voice followed him, already threatening to haunt him. “You know, she admitted once to fancying you a bit back when you were volunteering at the charity. She’d planned to ask you out, but you never came around after your probation was over.”

How they react to you getting hurt 🥲 | IB headcanon
Link to my IB masterlist
Requested 📨 yes/no
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Content warnings: injury, blood, war, profanity, light angst.
Being part of the Basterds & getting injured would look like:
Getting injured was not something you planned, but in war it is bound to happen eventually. It could happen when y’all were ambushed, on recon, or something simple as moving place to place.
Whether it be a small graze, a split lip, or a possible fatal wound the Basterds are losing their mind. It would be utter chaos in the tent with Wicki having to kick them all out, besides Alsdo, so he could work with a clear mind. If it was a small injury that could be fixed with some bandages and alcohol then he’d be like “you lot are so dramatic. Just calm down they’re going to be fine.” But if it was serious then the last thing the man needed was panic around him, “if you all can’t shut the fuck up then get out! I need to concentrate before they bleed out!” Wicki cared deeply for you and felt responsible. He’d be dammed if you died on his watch.
Aldo would remain calm but internally was on high alert. You were one if the best Basterds and quite literally the glue that kept them together. In a shitshow of a world you still managed to smile, brining a level of hope and optimism to the squad. Seeing you in pain pulled at his heartstrings. Best believe he would stop at nothing to avenge you if worst comes to worst.
Donny would be in the same boat as Aldo, but would be more visibly anxious and pacing back and forth until he got an update. Like Aldo he’d set the world on fire to avenge you if you died. Donny is the bastard who’d try to make you laugh when you’re recovering which would only make the pain worse. “Oh sorry, I forgot you’re hurting there.”
Hugo is scary. Bottom line he is not talking, he is barely moving. It would not be until he knew you’d be okay that he would visibly relax. If the person who hurt you was still breathing Hugo would be silently plotting. The bastard would be the type to sneak out of camp and track the person himself. God forbid you died because you were the one thing keeping him grounded (platonically) so if he lost you….well pray for those who come in his way.
The younger basterds are losing their minds. Scared shirtless the only thing their minds go to is the worst. Smitty is holding back tears, Omar is biting his nails. They’d be camping outside the tent to hear what was going on and would fall on their asses when Aldo or Wicki were to suddenly come out. “Are they gonna be okay!?” They shout simultaneously, anxious at the sight of blood on Wicki. When the older man lit a cigarette and mumbled, “They’re gonna be fine. They just need to rest,” they all dropped to the floor in relief.
It would pain the basterds to have to send you home if the injury you sustained put you out of the line of duty. This wold be if you lost a limb or were in need of more medical attention than they could offer, such as losing your sight or part of your hearing. Aldo would be the one to escort you to allied territory to hand you over, the ride solemn and silent. “I’m sorry, boss,” you softly said., “I’m sorry I let you down.” “Kid, you’re alive. That’s all that matters and don’t you fuckin’ forget it. I’d rather be takin’ ya back breathin’ than in a casket.”
If your injury was not fatal and a quick fix, expect a small lecture from Aldo. He wouldn’t be upset with you per say, but just angry that it happened. Again, you are someone he cares about. All the Basterds do. So when shit like that happens it scares them and never did they wanna deal with having to bury someone they cared about. He would, however, scold you if the reason you got hurt was because you did something stupid or went against his orders. “L/n, I will warn you this one time. You pull that shit again and I’ll have your ass on the next truck back to base. Understood?”
At the end of the day the boys are just happy you’re okay. It was a close call but thankfully you survived and Wicki was the one with the brains to help you recover. They may have shit their pants and nearly went into cardiac arrest, but the basterds wouldn’t be losing their sunshine anytime soon.

When They Discover You're Ticklish (Hoody Edition)
Note: I will be doing this scenario with each character eventually!
Brian, as you probably know, is a very perceptive guy, so when his hand brushed against you just the right way and you withdrew and failed to stifle a giggle, he knew the jig was up.
Being irrationally ticklish himself has given him the sixth sense to identify anyone potentially suffering from the same curse, and he had always kind of suspected that was the case with you because of the way you’d stiffen and retract from anyone that got too close to your fatal spots, but that little outburst of yours confirmed it.
He kind of just grinned cheekily, a certain sparkle appearing in his eyes as he tucked this little tid bit of information away in the back of his mind, opting to let you off the hook for now so you’d keep living in sweet oblivion until the right moment surfaced.
And oh, when that moment came, it hit hard.
You were being a lil’ asshole, having way too much fun annoying the hell out of him, whether that be by constantly standing behind him, quietly mimicking each word he’d say, or being inexplicantly affectionate - so much so that it impaired him from getting important work done. Long story short, he got tired of it.
You were obviously feeling bold today, as it wasn’t a usual occurance that you decided to bother Brian, of all people, and if you were anyone else, he would’ve smacked you down and threatened to throw you outta the house altogether. But alas, you weren’t just another person, which is why it would take a very, shall we say…special tactic, to deter you.
That was when he remembered how ticklish you appeared to be, and gave you one warning: stop now or you will sincerely regret it.
You didn’t take his threat seriously - after all, Brian wouldn’t hurt you. You meant too much to him!
Thus, you continued your onslaught on the amusing target, and he struck; locking one arm around your shoulders and pulling you close to ensure you didn’t go anywhere as his free hand started scribbling against your sides, stomach, ribs - anything it could viably reach, really.
Safe to say you collapsed instantly, almost dropping to the floor altogether if it hadn’t been for Brian holding you in place. However, you were squirming, and he was having trouble making sure you didn’t slip away, which is where the sofa came into the picture.
With you pinned down between that seat and his own body weight, it was a breeze making you squeal with untamed laughter and struggle to no avail.
“Shame you didn’t believe me,” he said, tone monotonous as his fingers raked along your torso, eliciting another powerful shriek within each jab and squeeze. “This whole tragedy could’ve been avoided.”
Liu did walk by during this turn of events, giving the both of you a puzzled look - never before had he seen you in such hysterics, nor had he witnessed Brian being so shamelessly playful.
Without missing a single beat, Brian rotated his head toward Liu and listed off a couple of things that needed to be done, completely unfazed while you writhed helplessly beneath him.
Liu merely blinked and strode away, bemused by this entire situation but figured he’d leave you to it.
Only a few minutes after this happened did Brian put a halt to the torture, noticing your silenced, hiccupy chortles and the tears leaking from the corners of your eyes. He climbed off of you, letting you lay there and catch your breath as he observed your weakened state with affection.
He hadn’t expected that to be so fun, so thrilling, and knew he’d have to do it again sometime. Of course, he isn’t totally heartless, so he crouched next to you and rested a hand on your arm. You were too exhausted to pull back. “You okay?”
You gathered the energy to reply and sent him a tiny glare, huffing out a murmured, “You’re so mean.”
The gleam in your eyes told him you weren’t actually mad, and he smiled - you couldn’t see it, of course, due to the mask covering his face, but you could hear it in his voice. “You have yourself to blame for that.”

Tumblr might have deleted my ask because it was too wordy. It is too long...my apologies, but I'm only trying to understand your POV genuinely so I'll retype. I do not mean any hostility (tho I know impact is more important than intent).
Alexis is a character that had a friends-with-benefits relationship with Sam. He ended it because she wanted more (within his right). In the midst of a fatal crash, Alexis turned him against his consent while he said 'no.' She never apologized. This is all we have without headcanons (avoiding the 'she was in a panic' or 'she did it to hurt him' headcanons on both sides). We have no backstory on her. People try to fill in this behavior with headcanons.
Cutie is a character that was in a romantic relationship with Geordi. He ended it because Cutie spent their years-long relationship canonically ignoring and going against Geordi's consent (or pressuring him). An act so egregious that Cutie's job did not use what they consistently do to a defenseless and unempowered Geordi on powerful, convicted murderer Quinn to find a victim. Cutie would apologize, but according to Geordi would still continue to ignore his consent (including proceeding to violate him in bed minutes after a tear-filled plea for them to stop). Ignoring the headcanons of social anxiety or having an abusive childhood or them having autism (because those are only headcanons), all we have is that they come from an empowered family (that's all we know). People try to fill in this behavior with headcanons.
You get upset with people liking one consent-ignoring character (that did so once (still horrible) horrifically 13 years ago and avoided the person since; valid! I don't like that), but say you don't trust people that don't like the other consent-ignoring character that spent over two years before and during their entire relationship violating their partner as well. I don't get that. Is Cutie excused because they are a self-insert? Would one line alluding to a hard childhood be enough for you to think Alexis has depth and background for her actions? Is one video of therapy is enough to think Cutie is deserving of Geordi again after that? Would one video of Alexis in therapy do the same?
Here’s the thing
I’m so damn sure
That on this blog with over 1,000 posts
Not once
Have I ever
Said that Cutie’s actions are excused
I may come off as rude here, and I apologize in advance. I just came back from a day long trip and my legs hurt and I already answered this but Tumblr ate my post before I could finish but whatever
Cutie is VERY obviously in the wrong in their situation. What they did is inexcusable and it’s incredibly evident. What my POINT is is that they have an explanation. NO this doesn’t excuse what they did, and NO, it never will, but at the very least we have a reason, which adds to depth and character
Alexis does not have this
ALEXIS, from the very moment her name was muttered, has been portrayed as an antagonist. She’s a villain in both Imperium and Prime Universe, and has never been put in a positive light, even by Erik himself.
She has no reason given for what she did, and has no character other than being villainous for the sake of being villainous.
The single reason we’re given why Alexis doesn’t try to interact with Sam is because she CAN’T invoke him
Tumblr media
I don’t like Cutie because they’re shitty and toxic and needs help, I like Cutie because they’re INTERESTING. They’re not like almost every other listener on the channel who’s damn near perfect and never has an issue with their relationships. They have a sense of individuality, they’re different and after losing Bright Eyes and Fred, they’re probably the only troubled listener we have left.
Alexis can literally die and we’d still have other antagonists. She’s not interesting. Her Imperium counterpart is slightly more interesting than her, and that’s only because she ACTUALLY shows up.

Sonic #50 Talk Under the Cut.
So. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Eggman beat Starline. Of course he did. It’s Eggman, and for all that his plans can get out of his control, he is still the most dangerous person in Sonic the Hedgehog’s world and Ian Flynn makes sure to drive that home here. The reveal that he played Starline as soon as he realized he was the one responsible for the core theft? Nice touch. Starline realizing that no, Eggman does listen to your talk, he just doesn’t acknowledge it because he didn’t really care? Excellent!
Speaking of Eggman’s plan, the way he and Tails both beat their counterpart by exhausting the finite power in their tech is an interesting parallel. As Starline said in Imposter Syndrome, they really do have more in common than either would probably admit. Tails does really well for himself here - he’s calm in the face of that ’it takes 40 seconds to drown someone’ line, and does a good job combining genuine enthusiasm and friendliness with some sharp reading of Kit’s motives to keep him off guard. Your tech’s cool but it’s not yours (and the person who made it for you probably sucks?) You’re still using it very well, don’t sell yourself short. You are 100% dead set on this plan and can’t be swayed? Fine, but how about we call a truce because we BOTH agree Starline needs to go down. Like I said, sharp, and keeps him from lending Surge support that might well have ACTUALLY challenged Sonic.
By contrast, everything about Sonic sets Surge off, and I think it goes beyond that Starline-conditioned hatred. After all, leaving everyone free to make their own choices DID leave Starline free to keep hurting people, and the fact that Sonic will not EVER take this as seriously as Surge is has to be infuriating. Sorry, new gal, he’s not trying to minimize your trauma, but seriously, he does this twice a month. Most of his former rivals are friends now. Of course there’s never serious doubt he’ll lose, even if Surge gets him to break a sweat - Metal Sonic’s not the only time Sonic’s fought someone who could be his match, if not a bit stronger, so he’s got a pretty good handle on this sort of fight. Probably would have done Starline some good to look into how he met Knuckles. And Shadow. And Blaze. And Silver. And…
Which will probably infuriate Surge when she comes back, and yeah, OF COURSE she’s not dead here. Nice ‘I spite you and fall’, nice ’You’re free to make your own choices but that means I can’t stop you from making bad ones,’ but come on. Death by bottomless pit for a character who’s just been introduced to give them more villains to play around with, especially as one of very, very few female villains in the franchise. No way she’s dead.
The one I think is a genuine question is whether or not STARLINE lives. He could probably replenish his Tricore if he gets back to base, but narratively? He’s been burned by Eggman before. He swore vengeance already. And he just got smacked in the face with the fact that Eggman will thrash him, even if he plays everything perfectly. His ego’s his fatal flaw just as much as Eggman’s is. This could be taking him off the playing field for good… but while it could be, I do think there’s still a bit more comeuppance in store for him. Starline still thinks he’s a mastermind and manipulator who’s one step ahead of everyone, and structuring the whole issue around each game character-comic character counterpart set (Eggman-Starline, Sonic-Surge, Tails-Kit, Metal Sonic-Belle) means he HASN’T found out his own creations played him like a fiddle. I could see him managing to survive this, composure shattered, and just as self-destructively reckless as he accused Eggman of being. We’ll have to see, especially with how big his presence has been up to this point - killing him off in a landmark issue would be fitting, too, and leave Surge and Kit unable to get the vengeance they REALLY want so they go even further in on destruction. We’ll just have to see.
Speaking of Surprise Tools That Will Help Us Later… Belle. Obviously Eggman has a plan having seen what she was capable of, and I don’t think he let her go out of the goodness of his heart. But I think it’ll be on the backburner for a bit - I could see her leaving the Restoration to go adventuring given her decision here, but even if she stays her arc’s resolved for now and whatever Eggman’s plan is will last a bit. She’s not the only Badnik who’s been abandoned, and I like that as a purpose going forward. I also like the more direct acknowledgment of Metal and Belle being parallels as Eggman’s most sophisticated creations, the one he keeps around and seems to respect on one hand and Mr. Tinker’s daughter on the other.
All in all, a solid milestone issue. Congrats to IDW Sonic’s team for 50 issues! Here’s to 50 more.

As more days passed things were only getting worse and worse. Striking would be a fatal mistake, emotions should never take a strategist over. He had to keep a cool head, be somewhat rational at the very least. But it was impossible for Ritsu to contain himself. Just the thought of such a sight alone got him beyond riled up. He would love to just run over to that brat and slam her face against the wall!
Ok, maybe it wasn’t that bad… Not really at least. That didn’t really change the fact of her hogging Maa–Kun. And why is that? Because he’s ‘the only mortal who ever tamed her’. ‘ Yeah right, keep telling yourself that! ’ was something always in Ritsu’s mind when just hearing about it. It drove him almost insane and made him unable to truly think straight. Ugh, just that could get him to bash his head in and lose sleep over… The last thing almost, no way he’s going to lose sleep over anything really. Not even this could make him lose any type of sleep honestly. Still, that didn’t make this any less frustrating, far from it. It was only more frustrating. And it was not something he could necessarily hide either.
When turning his head for a moment on the table he was staring at the ones who would give him this weird yet concerned look– Ann and Nyeli. They were only staring at him, slightly in disbelief, the tiny cat even shaking on the table while clinging onto the person he loved to call his ‘Sisnya’ — Basically his ‘older sister’. The grip seemed tight yet frome experience Ritsu can confirm that it was nothing hurtful at all and at most felt like a light tug. Regardless, the cat held onto her as tightly as possible, seemingly scared of something. No, Ritsu could see that something may have been up and he was most likely the root… Ugh… On top of that Ann had caught on, deciding to just ask ahead.
“Ritsu–San, did… Something happened?” She asked, though stuttering a little in between her sentences.
“Guess you could say that, sort of.” He responded quickly, though huffing as well. He didn’t want to talk about it, mainly because he didn’t feel like it. He could handle it himself after all. This was nothing she had to concern herself with, nor was it for Nyeli’s ears anyway. This was something he would be able to handle just fine. “Instead of asking, you should help me get my mind off it, y'know…”
“That… Easier said than done…” Was Ann’s response and he could not just see but also hear her slight nervousness creeping up. She was desperate to help him, wasn’t she? Well, he’s not going to talk and she can’t make him! Plus it wouldn’t be of much difference anyway, would it? After all, she is not even attending Yumenosaki. She would have no idea what he would be talking about to begin with, so there was no need for him to bother her. “Talking might—”
“No need!” He insisted however, catching himself pouting. He really didn’t even want to think about it.. About her… That Hara girl. Honestly, he would probably say things which would make Nyeli’s ears shake if he did if not the cat as a whole. He was about to turn away even yet stopped himself when seeing the young woman in front of him flinch all of a sudden. He could only hope that she would catch on in the end and would not be extremely oblivious.
“Not wanting to talk?” She asked with a soft voice which was then met with a nod before he turned his head away, facing into literal emptiness.
“Yeah. I’d rather not right now. Or I might say stuff like ‘Would it be ok if I sucked out all of her blood?’ for example.”
“R… Ritsu–San…”
“N… Nye…” Even Nyeli’s voice echoed through the room, sounding anything but impressed yet perhaps slightly scared. It would not be a surprise if the cat clung more onto Ann and she would pat him, something she would usually do. Ritsu could check but there was no need, he was sure that she was doing just that to keep the kitty in her arms calm.
“My bad, it won’t happen again… I think.”
“You think?” The female repeated, sounding a little confused. Hah, of course.
“Ok fine, if you have to know something, it involves one of my friends at school. I won’t say more than that however.” That was the most he wanted to waste on that topic anyway. Surely that would be reason enough, wouldn’t it?
A moment of silence kicked in and at most purring would echo in Ritsu’s own ears. The silence was almost unbearable and for a moment he did believe that Ann would not stop and instead bombard him with questions. If that were to happen he would just pretend to fall asleep and yet this worry is a little unwarranted, even in his own opinion. Was it possible? He didn’t exclude the possibility. Was it realistic? Not necessarily. She wasn’t completely unreasonable and can read the room, unlike most people. So he should be fine in the end. And… The prediction would end up correct as these are the next few sentences they exchanged at the time:
“I see… Good luck then Ritsu–San.”
“Thank you… I guess…”
“A little tired?”
“Yeah. School’s exhausting. Why does it have to start in the morning?”
“Good question. I did wondered too back then.”
“Did wondered? Heh, that sounds funny~”
“Ah— I meant did wonder! Uh…”
“Hey hey, I know what you mean. Either way, all of this is just exhausting. Why can’t we have night classes? That would be one less burden.”
"Idol scheduling conflict?” She brought up, more as a suggestion than anything but…
“Hah, can’t argue with that…” He yawned, turning his face finally back to the woman with the small cat–like creature in her arms, eyeing her for a moment before suddenly asking: “Ann–Chan, can I lay on your lap for a moment?”
“Huh? Lap? But—”
“It’s fine… I got an hour before I have to go to work. Can I? Please?”
He looked at them almost half asleep and yet it seems that she couldn’t argue much if at all. Though her gaze wandered around for a moment, to see if anyone could enter who would get the wrong idea perhaps before sighing and nodding. “Alright, it should be fine.”
“Fufu~ Thank you very much~”
Though despite saying that with a smirk he could only hope that a nap would get him off his thoughts. After all, he had to think clearly for his next course of action. And best would be to distract himself if he could. A soft lap pillow might help things. Or so Ritsu hoped at the very least.
Then again, with both Ann and Nyeli around he already felt at ease. So, even if it’s just for the moment, he could forget about this and visit dreamland for a short while.

Angst, hurt/comfort
1,020 words
Maverick hates sleeping in the same bed as Ice. He also hates himself. Tonight makes it way worse.
≻───── ⋆✩⋆ ─────≺
Warmth
third person
Here comes another night of awkward bed-sharing with Iceman. Maverick thinks, sighing quietly as he enters the bedroom. Its not that he minded sharing a bed, it’s just that it was kind of strange to do so, and they did so nearly every time they were based somewhere that required a hotel or similar place. They were hardly past the phase in-between rivals and friends, it was just strange. And Ice had been almost uncharacteristically nice to him these past few months after graduating. He didn’t need to be, Maverick almost didn’t like it, he was so used to defending himself, and with Ice being more of a friend, it just felt so unusual.
Ice is on the left side of the bed as he usually is, as Maverick gets in and lays on his back. He felt empty inside as he often did, but this time it was somehow worse, being less than a metre away from someone that he could talk to. Not that he would.
“Hey,” he says, even his quiet voice loud in the silent room.
Obviously Ice hadn’t fallen asleep. Maverick stays silent.
“..you okay?”
“Why are you being nice to me?” Maverick says, fixing his eyes on the dark patterned ceiling.
“W-what?” Ice’s voice immediately sounds confused.
“Someone’s told you to be nice to me,”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Mav, no one has said anything to me?”
He sighs, tired of Ice’s innocent sounding voice. “Then tell me, why ever since Goose you’ve decided to be nice to me?”
“Because I care about you?”
“No you don’t, stop pretending like you do,” he says, looking to the right.
“...Pretending?” Ice echoes. “You think I’m pretending?”
“Yes, you don’t have to hide the fact you don’t care, I don’t need anyone, I’m fine-” he frowns, turning on to his side.
“Mav-”
Maverick’s voice sounds like knives. “Leave it, Ice, go back to sleep,” In an almost silent voice, he adds, “I’ve gotta get through this on my own,”
Iceman stays quiet for the next few seconds, and Maverick thinks he’d finally been able to shut him up, until he sighs.
“I know your mind won’t be changed but-”
“I don’t care,” he says sharply, but he can’t help but listen to what he says.
“-but let me just say two things. One; no-one has told me to be nice to you, and second, I promise you that I do care, and I will care, whatever you tell me otherwise,”
Ice leaves it at that.
Maverick doesn’t reply, but he glares at the black shadows from the curtains on the floor. He feels everything all at once, and it’s terrible.
Anger at Ice, no wait, at himself for being unable to articulate what he was thinking in a way other than way more viciously than needed. Empty because he just successfully disconnected himself from the one person he was at least a little bit familiar with. And hurt at the memories of Goose rushing around his head at the speed of light, which prevented him from coming to bed earlier than one am or having a full three nights of sleep in a row.
He hated himself.
Hated himself for losing his best friend and RIO like that in a goddamn training accident because he wanted to get the shot and couldn’t wait, and consequently got caught in some stupid jetstream. For losing control of the plane and unable to recover it from it’s fatal flat-spin. For it all to be nobody’s fault but his.
That, combined with what Ice just said, digs a hole in his floodgates; the water behind them spewing out so fast it feels like he’s stuck, rooted to the spot, staring into the pitch black of the room, but somehow he swallows and turns over on his back again, stealing a glance at Ice, who is on his back too, but he’s facing the other way.
There’s fire behind his eyes and a lump in his throat.
Say something, say something to him Mitchell.
“Ice I’m sorry-” he gets out, his voice cracking, pressing a hand to his eyes.
Ice turns his head back to look at him as soon as he heard him say his name. “Maverick..”
Finally Maverick bites his tongue and looks at Ice, on the edge of breaking.
Ice sighs softly as he turns onto his side to face him. “Come on,” he says, holding out his hands. “Stop pretending you’re okay all the time,”
Now he has eye-contact with him, he can’t let go of it, can’t do anything else.
“Mav, come here, it’s okay,” Ice murmurs, scooping his arms around Maverick and pulling him close.
And now that he’s there in Ice’s arms, that’s it. The floodgates open and the waves of absolutely everything, of guilt and hurt and despair and emptiness, crash into him all at once. He doesn’t care that he’s sobbing, or that he’s feeling everything all at once like this.
“Shhh…” Ice slowly runs his hand through Maverick’s hair, and the touch sends shivers through him, despite how strangely warm he was.
And that warmth, he last felt warmth like that the last time he flew with Goose, and Maverick would have never thought he’d feel it again, let alone from Iceman. It made it feel like he could get through this.
A little more than five minutes later, Maverick sniffs, rubbing his eyes to clear the last tears from his cheeks, but he doesn’t make any attempt to move away from Ice, he didn’t want to.
“You can go to sleep if you want,” Ice whispers, his arms still around him.
He was tired, the outpouring of emotion and the crying had taken it all out of him. So he just lays there, slowly letting his eyes close, listening to the sound of Ice breathing. It’s weirdly comforting, being this close to him and not having to pretend he was okay like he did to everyone else he knew.
For the first time, Maverick had fallen asleep in Iceman’s arms, and he wasn’t embarrassed to admit it.

Hmmm maybe joshua, hanahaki au? 😽
oooh... tbh i think i'd straight up just go for a joshua prequel for cause you're my flower.
this is probs gonna get long so uh. tw for angst + illness depictions via hanahaki + hospital mentions + also suffocation mentions (via the flowers). if you skipped the seungkwan fic, you should probably skip this too.
like. you know how it ends, sure, but i think there's a lot to say about joshua meeting reader in their sophomore year of college and falling for her (altho i can easily go back and change details to make this gn!reader) since there's not the full story in the other fic. i think it'd be a slower thing than illustrated of joshua slowly falling until he's in love. he decides to go ahead and act by asking you out, and you turn him down because you only ever thought of him as a friend. he accepts it with a smile and says that he hopes this doesn't damage your friendship at all: he still cares about you, and it isnt your fault he fell for you. just a very clear 'you aren't responsible for his feelings, it's his job to deal with them on his own.'
except he goes home and starts feeling... off. jeonghan comes back to their apartment and joshua coughs up flower petals, and both just immediately know whats going on. i dont remember if i said what joshua's flowers were? i don't think i did. maybe chrysanthemums since they mean death in some places in the world. jeonghan tells him he needs to see a doctor, joshua says he will.
and then he just... never does since he knows getting the flowers removed means he'll stop caring about his friend. he won't be able to love you at all if they're taken from him. he thinks, still stinging from rejection, that he'd rather die than live without you in his life. he told you that he wanted to stay friends with you, how was he supposed to turn around and tell you 'lol nvm, i can't see you ever again'??? he can't.
not all cases are fatal. joshua knows this. he just hopes he'll be lucky. he stays your friend and hides the petals well, because he just can't lose you. it eats him up inside to hear you talk about some dick you like (not out of jealousy--joshua has told you over and over that the guy you're crushing on is an asshole, but you claim he's always been nice to you, and he genuinely fears for you).
jeonghan fights with him. he calls him an idiot, and tells him that his mom keeps begging him to say something??? to find a way to convince you? she's tried so hard to get him to see a doctor, and she tells him she'll be flying back from the US to see him and help him through everything. it breaks him a bit when jeonghan tells him what she said: that she can't lose her son.
just. joshua angst. hes deeply conflicted between his love for his mom and his friends and the guilt he feels over this happening all because you didn't love him back, which isn't even your fault. he reads online where some ppl talk about how they hated the other person because of the flowers putting them through hell, people who did recover well, people who didn't... jeonghan comes into his room one night and takes his phone, setting it aside before curling up with him and telling him he has to take care of himself or he'll die. his mom doesn't want to lose her son. he doesn't want to lose his best friend, either.
he wakes up in the middle of the night coughing up flowers, climbing over jeonghan to make it to the bathroom in time. the buds are getting bigger, and he just stares at them with wet eyes bc it hurts so bad. and deep down, he thinks he should just accept it. he's the one who fell for you. it's his own fault for not loving someone who loved him back.
things get worse. you catch him coughing up petals (and an actual flower, but that much you don't see) one day, before it gets bad, and you confront him about it. he tells you outright that he didn't want you to feel guilty because it isn't your fault. you remind him that it is, and he only tells you that he could never hate you. you tell him he should because you don't love him back the way he deserves to be loved. you wish you could, at least to stop his suffering. you tell him that as much as you do love him as your friend, you'll make things easier for him and let this be the last time the two of you see one another. you've been planning on transferring to a different school for a while. you weren't sure how to tell him since you didn't want him to think it was because of this--you just had better scholarships there and the program was better for your major. but since the two of you don't share any classes anymore, you'll stop seeing him entirely. with one last hug, you tell him to please take care of himself and that you do love him (still not in the way that would fix this).
he goes home and probably just kind of breaks down in his kitchen after telling himself that he's completely fine. that this is good. but he can still feel shit in his throat, and he drops a glass, and it all just kind of comes crashing down around him. he texted jeonghan on the ride back about what happened, and he said he'd be home in a few minutes but he'd stop and grab him something sweet from the store. just as a tiny distraction from how much he's hurting. he sinks down onto the floor as he lets himself cry the way he needs to, everything just kind of coming to a crescendo.
and then he just realizes he can't catch his breath anymore. he reaches for his phone, trying to breathe. the door opens and he hears jeonghan call out for him, only to hear him scream his name before immediately pulling out his phone. the paramedics are on the way, and jeonghan is doing the best he can, guided by the person on the phone to help him. by the time they arrive, he's passed out and they're already working to clear his airways and making the call for an emergency procedure.
when joshua wakes up fully (coming in and out of consciousness for days bc fucking ouch), its to the sound of his mom talking to the nurse taking his vitals. he rouses, and the nurse is gentle before leaving to get his doctor. his mom cries and hugs him tight, calling him stupid for the first time since he did something dangerous as a child. but his limbs feel heavy as lead, and he tries his best to hold her and apologize.
when the doctor starts to ask questions, joshua realizes that... he doesn't remember anything about the person he fell in love with at all. not their name, the way they look, etc. and jeonghan has to be the one who steps in and tells him that the person isn't in his life anymore. its not unheard of for joshua to not remember anything about the person he fell in love with, but it isn't exactly common. they'll check back with him in a few days since he's staying for observation until he can be released: sometimes patients wake up not remembering, but remember more over the following days.
and he doesn't. joshua begs jeonghan to tell him something while his mom is out of the room (to get a proper meal--after joshua begged and jeonghan reassured her that he'd stay until she came back). so jeonghan agrees to tell him the basics: he met someone. he fell in love. they rejected him. and then he came home and began coughing up petals, and refused to get help to the point where jeonghan came home and found him collapsed on the floor. all of it gives him a headache, but he's thankful to have a little piece of his story back with him.
uh idk where i'd go from here. i'd probs leave jeonghan's story out and unwritten for a reason, but i'd maybe end it off a few years later with joshua getting the call from seokmin asking if he could convince his friend to go through with it bc he remembers enough about the suffering he went through. and joshua agrees without a second thought, not wanting anyone else to go through what he did.

Yumi's Cells Season 2
Contains spoilers....
I loved the first season & was actually waiting for Season 2 to come. I have partially read the webtoon just enough to know that Yumi marries the third guy and not the first two.
Season 1 was about her coming out of a long dating sabbatical & finally dating woong. The guy, though really loved yumi, had pride issues which later turned into communication issues and that proved fatal to their relationship . Though I didn't liked the saeyi track too (why can't this actress do one role where the character is actually good & not eyeing someone who has no interest in her😒) . Anyways woong really thought he will get his second chance to be with Yumi when he gets rich & stable enough but sadly life doesn't work out that way. When woong dreams of their could have been scenario it hurts only because it shows how their massive lack of communication ruined it for them.
Season 2 was about her pursuing her dream & learning to be happy on her own . From the flashbacks and also somewhere in S1 or 2, Babi said that he liked someone with letter 'U' while Yumi was still with Woong . I am not pointing at him or anything, but he was in a relationship with someone else not long ago and quickly attracted to Yumi. He really loved yumi later no doubt in that . But the Da Eun episode proved fatal from him not because someone confessed to him and his village got an earthquake Or because he decided to move to avoid & stop anything before it happens. But because he didn't tell yumi any of that. S1 woong did the same mistake by not telling yumi about saeyi moving in his building and they almost break up when she accidentally found that out . Same happened with Babi . They both either thought it's insignificant or its to dangerous to tell yumi any of the latest happenings and ended up with a break up/almost-break up .
When Babi thought to himself that yumi should've trusted him just like he did, he forgot yumi never knew that he knows that the guy she is meeting on Christmas Eve is woong. And When she returned, Babi got his reassurance. With Daeun , it was different because she was a totally new third person who presented a threat to their relationship. Being human it's only natural to find other man/woman attractive , but problem is when you have to take certain/drastic measures in order to prevent anything between you & them . One can argue that he went to that length because he was trying to remain faithful to Yumi and their relationship , but he HAD to do so much to stay loyal shows the crack.
Felt bad for babi in the first breakup scene (or all breakup scenes) because he tried hard. And then don't know the time jump , but he didn't do anything to contact/reconcile with Yumi and if not for the chance encounter I doubt he would've ever contact her ( considering the 8 month long time jump at end , where he contacts yumi to return her laptop & keep saying sorry for contacting & inconveniencing her) . (Props to woong too 8 months he maintained his distance once he got to know from her that she is marrying babi sometime later )
As per me, Their 2nd breakup happens not because of Daeun's call ,their breakup started when yumi couldn't answer woong if she loves Babi . That got her thinking. And it happens. People thinks their life is going fine unless some asks one question about it and that gets them thinking about everything that's wrong in their life. The Daeun call just added to it and she realised that she indeed have no love left for Babi . Babi sensed something is off, once he saw that damned missed call and that yumi must've seen that but never asked any clarification. Because that's not what yumi would've done ideally. So he saw the 2nd breakup coming miles away thus didn't resist much. Too bad because they seemed Happy with each other and would've made each other grow if not for the whole Daeun fiasco .
Loved that they are amicable with Yumi and how her cells acknowledges each of their contributions in her life. How she went on to be happy and successful on her own. The girl only wanted to be happy❤️ .
I loved YumBab though . They will still be my favorite couple. I have already said previously that this show has multiple endings in my imagination. The YumBab ending goes like.. they meet again at the airport but when asked he didn't lie about seeing someone ( why did he do that though , I hate it anyhow even if giving yumi a sense of closure was his reason) . He turns to leave ...but gets Yumi's text that if he thinks they can start afresh. He turns to see yumi still standing at the same spot. And just smiles at her . (Yeah I wrote myself a little fanfiction there😝) .
Woomi ending is where yumi asks him for a lunch sometime in last episode to thank him for everything along with giving him a second chance.😁
Also ...can I get a season 3 with Yumi - Soonrok . They could've showed his arc in this season only but instead they were busy giving so much screentime to Chief editor & Control-Z_Ruby scenes. Could've avoided all that. If they are short on story then make it 4-6 episode season just like Soundtrack#1(totally love that show) . If there will be a S3, they have to get an actor to top Jinyoung as Babi in all aspects for Soonrok and I do think the guy who played Soonrok in last episode is temporary because The face was blurred and the writer said that they did so for the freedom to cast any actor as Soonrok if there is a s3.
Someone repeat Kim Go Eun & Jinyoung pair in some other show , Romantic comedy ... I don't want them to not end up together again. Or repeat the trio altogether , I won't mind. Too much to ask to repeat a lead pair in kdramaland but still .
Why do all of Kim Go Eun's costar looks like they are in love with her....How that's even possible. 😅
It became a long post....you have patience if you read till end 😆

Wanderer of The Stars
22194 - Takahiro Obata
—•—
Blue strands of hair hung over the face of a boy whose eye bags were the only thing you needed to see to understand the kind of day he’d been having. But well, that kind of day had become his everyday almost instantly. So, no use complaining to be honest. Not anymore. In fact, he should be grateful he’s here and not six feet under.
A talisman which in hindsight may be just a wee bit too big draped down the side of his head. Practically unremovable.
As always, he was swallowed up by his research. Flipping through different pages of an extravagantly old book. Though albeit it wasn't as interesting as it may seem. His research topic was something he quite frankly, wasn't too fond of.
Ciel Apocalypse. Though not one to judge, he’d received concerning reports from No.5 about his subordinate. And the events that followed that report were rather suspicious. Then again, maybe he just didnt enjoy being talked about behind his back. Who knows?
Still, it was semi-urgent. So it was better to get his research done now than later. But.. for the most part he could find nothing suspicious. No matter how far he dug under the surface, he just.. couldnt find anything.
Maybe this would require an in-person investigation. Where had Luca said the other was taking refuge?
Ah. Right. No.1’s temple. For what reason? He was entirely unsure! But, the information was useful no less.
The small boy-lolita stood slowly, silky blue ribbons brushing against his leg. He yawned, blinking his eyes lazily.
How tiresome.
—•—
With a hand on his chest, the reaper had just barely made it out of that place with his dignity. He bit his lip, the stream of black blood that now stained his shirt coming to a stop. Damn, he may be immortal, but that still hurt. And it’d definitely leave a mark. What was that kid thinking? Sure, he could have been more on guard, but was there really a reason to stab the guy with his own scythe?
Speaking of which, said scythe was now dull and dirty. Goddamn punk..
For now, he’d have to leave his client behind. Though she was supposed to die, due to that thorn in aside she was now seemingly cheating death. He could hear her heartbeat ringing in his ears.
It was a pretty annoying part of being a grim reaper. Till your client dies, you hear every pump of their heart while on the same mortal plain. In all honesty, it was starting to give him a headache. For mortals; fatal blood loss and a headache? How ironic.
Akira clutched his scythe to his side as he limped down the mountain. It was better he returned via portal further down the mountain so nobody saw.
As he neared a good mid-area of the mountain, in the corner of his eye he noticed sparkles. Turning in the direction of said sparkles, he was met with the sight of a small boy in ribbons a frilly clothes. For some reason, an immense power could be sensed from this kid. Maybe the blood loss had clouded his vision before, because he was sure he’d have sensed much further up the mountain if not for that.
“Huh?..”
“Huh.”
The petite boy stared curiously at the taller man. He wore a suit and tie, as a proper gentleman would, he supposed anyway. He set a hand on his chin and crossed the other over his chest to support it.
“You are .. a reaper, no?” He murmured, “You have the G.R.A badge on your suit, and.. well, that sythe as well.”
Asmodeus watched as the other attempted to straighten himself out. Though as he did his attention was drawn to the very obvious wound in his chest. He glanced from it up into the other’s eyes.
“How.. curious. You’re a reaper, yet you were seemingly bleeding out..” He reached his hand out slowly, “Are you trying to commit suicide?”
This kid.. was extremely direct and on the nose with everything he had to say. It was almost like he wasn’t a kid to begin with.. still, he nodded along.
His gaze traveled with the other’s hand as he reached it out. He flinched back a little at first, though.. slipping from the shorter one’s fingertips was a blue glow. A light of.. almost divinity.
“Akira Mukami, head of the G.R.A.” He frowned at the next question, “No. Let’s just say there was an accident, kid.”
He sighed. It did kind of look that way, huh?.. How embarrassing. Though, it wouldn't be a worry much longer. The aforementioned light had slowly begun to seal the wound and refresh the clothing on his body. He blinked a few times in disbelief. Who was this guy?..
“Are uh.. you an angel?” He cleared his throat, “Man I sound like a chump..”
Asmo quirked a brow to his inquiry. He snickered a little and shook his head.
“Asmodeus Rune. No.2 of the Wind Oni. I may be a disciple, but I’m no angel. Not even close to a saint.”
“Ah. Figures, Didn't think they were hiring them in mini-size anymore ‘nyways.”
“You should still mind your tone..”
“Uh- right, sorry..”
He paused, then nodded his head. This kid did just heal him.. maybe he should keep his snarky comments to himself for now.
“Asmodeus.. gotcha. Need my business card?”
Business card?.. Uhm.. no thank you. I know an easier way to get in contact if I’m really in need of a reaper. Though, I appreciate your offer.
“Now do tell, what did that injury come from?”

For an AroAce I surely have a lot of sexually active characters. Well the thing is I’m not sexually attracted to real people. Characters I can be. Also, my characters aren’t really that romantic. They are able to love very strongly and passionately but they don’t show it in materialistic way. They usually show it taking care of their love interest, if they are sick. Protecting them if attacked. Physical affection. Of course not in the middle of a fight or official political meeting... And sexual behavior.
I’d like to think... No that’s wrong way to put it. Taimi has most likely been assaulted by Vivs’ psychopathic side at some times. But Taimi has learned how to deal with that. First time was probably even a bit traumatizing to her, but once she learned that the psycho side doesn’t like pain she began to hurt him aiming at the areas that would cause most pain. Trying not to damage him too much. Of course the psycho side can stand pain in the same way as normal people can, who aren’t into physical pain, but like with anyone there is a limit how much he can stand it before he wants to go ‘hiding’ behind the good side again. The good side does like pain, but this doesn’t mean he is immune to it. He still get paralyzed by it especially if it is very strong pain. But that’s exactly what he loves about it. It’s kind of like stimulation to his mind, and it is momentary relief of the sexual pain he feels from being aroused all the time. Which unfortunately also works as sexual stimulation. ^^; And if he gets too horny there’s a risk of the psycho side getting out. What to do then? Is just let him do what he wants till he reaches that climax. Usually after that the psycho side is satisfied enough to let the good side take control again, but Vivs in general probably isn’t happy with just one release. Now that the good side is in control again, if Taimi hurts him again he most likely is able to stop. If she lets him still do whatever, it can take some time and many releases till he’s completely satisfied. This is why some people avoid doing it with him. They just can’t keep up with his stamina. Nowadays Taimi is able to at least stay conscious till he’s done, but she thinks she still needs more training... And of course Gorrik as well... - w -
What I like to think is that Taimi finds Vivs’ psycho side scary, but at the same time kinda exciting. She has started to doubt that the psycho side is able to kill her. He can of course hurt her physically, and even harm her mentally, but he won’t kill her. He wants to own her and control her mind. Make her as his possession. About the good side Taimi has fantasies where she has him under her control. That the Commander was her puppet and she was the puppeteer. And the funny thing is that the Commander would not mind this at all.
The problem was just the world threats, and that Vivs seemed to be this important peace of a whole puzzle that wasn’t stupid. He often was in situations where he had to be alone and think for himself, so Taimi just couldn’t risk the future of Tyria by taking over this important piece’s mind. Otherwise, the puzzle would never be solved. I think Taimi has realized that her and the others were more like the supporters of this important piece of a puzzle. Important supporters, but supporters nonetheless. Even if she keeps joking about how she was the key element of solving all the problems thanks to her high intelligence. ^^
But just like she once said: facts are facts. No sense in pretending like those didn’t exist, because those pretendings could become fatal. This is partly why she is willing to even suffer a bit in the hands of the psychopath so she could fulfill her role.
Also another funny thing about Vivs’ split personality is that while the good side would like to make each Inquest member to be treated like they have treated the innocent creatures, the psycho side also would like to do that, but more likely for irony of it. Making them go through that while pretending to be the good Vivs being all like ’this is What you did to those poor innocent beings! Since you seemed to love it so much, I had to force you to experience the same bliss! Feels great, doesn’t it?’ Of course the psycho side would be a perfect fit for the Inquest, if he didn’t want to conquer everything. Which would mean, like the asura Commander said in the Infinity Ball story, ’out-Inquest the Inquest’.

hey c: can i please ask for something with childe, kaeya and diluc where they accidentally hurt the reader? angst please? have a good day <3
hihi c: i didnt know if you meant physically hurt or emotionally hurt so i mixed it up <3
before reading: angst/hurt, cursing, men being absolutely stupid, under cut for possible sensitive topic + i think this is obvious but i dont think any of these characters would ever act this way
childe
his fatal flaw was that he was too possessive of you
he was a protective person in general and you were no exception
and usually it was fine
childe showed affection in public with an arm around your waist or a few kisses and glaring side glances to staring men or women
but sometimes he took it too far and you just wished he would stop
You and Childe had decided to go to a bar in Liyue one night and after a few drinks, you began becoming friendly with the other patrons. You didn’t think your tipsy compliments towards a tall man were flirty but when he smirked down at your shorter form, you realized you may have overstepped the line.
“Who are you here with?” He asked, leaning down to your ear. Your eyes glanced around the bar and you didn’t see Childe. “Are you here alone?”
“Not alone...” You slurred. The man reached down to slip a hand onto your waist and you flinched away, nearly stumbling to the floor. He caught you fall with a strong arm and pulled you close. You were dangerously close to his face now. “My boyfriend...he’s...”
“Your boyfriend?” The man continued, “I don’t see your boyfriend.”
“Well, turn around.”
Hearing Childe’s voice made your heart sink. The man’s hold on your loosened and you wiggled away, immediately going around him. Childe looked hurt but you didn’t have time to explain yourself before he stepped towards the man.
“I wouldn’t mess with me,” He said harshly, “I’m the Eleventh Fatui Harbinger.”
The man looked Childe up and down and smirked even more, “You? Why, you’re just a scrawny little thing.”
“Stop fighting!” You tried, your vision hazy from the alcohol. Before you knew it, you were stepping in between the men just as Childe swung at the man. Instead of colliding with his nose like he intended, Childe’s fist smashed against your jaw and you cried out.
A silence grew over the crowd and Childe stared at you in shock. You stumbled for a moment and clutched your face, lingering pain seething through your skin. You regained your balance and looked up at Childe’s horrified face, “It’s okay-”
Before you could get another word out, Childe turned on his heel and left the bar without a sound.
kaeya
he was careless
he liked to drink (a lot) and alcohol tended to mess with your logic and reasoning
whenever you two fought, he was usually intoxicated
and it was the same every time: fight when he’s drunk, you make him sleep on the couch, he wakes up sober the next morning and puts two and two together and then surprises you with homemade breakfast or flowers to say he was sorry
every now and then, though, kaeya didn’t know when to stop
“Kaeya, just calm down.”
He was drunk, even more than usual. He could hardly stand up straight and you had to hoist his body against yours just to get him home. Now he was picking you apart for something you said days ago, slamming kitchen cabinets and making a tremendous scene in front of you.
“You’re...the most selfish, irritating, two-faced bitch...” He slurred. You spun around at that, your eyes narrow with anger.
“And you’re an arrogant drunk whose too shallow to care about anyone but himself,” You shot back. You didn’t mean what you said and you were sure Kaeya didn’t either but the tension was too high to talk about that now.
You waited for Kaeya’s reply. Instead of throwing back a snarky insult, he stepped closer to you. Your body tensed, your back straightening and your arms flat against your side. You knew the words that came out of your mouth next were unwarranted but, frankly, you were getting scared.
“What? Now you’re going to fucking hit me?”
When nothing happened, you took a step backwards. Kaeya wasn’t moving anymore and a look of hurt crossed his face. Your stomach dropped and you reached out to him but he shrugged your hand away.
“Kaeya, I didn’t mean that. I just-”
“You really thought I was going to hit you?” He asks, his voice cracking. It was almost like he sobered up completely in that moment alone. Your jaw was tight and you didn’t know what to say. “I’m not that low of a person, Y/N.”
You slept on the couch that night.
diluc
never in a million years would you think diluc would ever hurt you
he was such a gentleman and loved you dearly
he was even notorious for breaking up altercations between couples when things were getting serious
so when your fight escalated past anything you had ever experienced before, you were stunned
It was you that initiated the violence. You felt something explode into you when Diluc made a rather nasty comment and in that moment, you needed to feel some relief.
A wine bottle falls to the floor of the Winery, shattering instantly and sending glass across the room. You both stare at the mess of glass and alcohol.
“What’s wrong with you?” Diluc hisses, looking between you and the broken bottle on the ground. His tone was becoming increasingly more vicious which only fueled your inner turmoil.
You ignore him and step away from the glass, heading towards the stairs. “I’m going to bed.”
“Like hell you are, Y/N! We aren’t done here!”
You whip around to face him. “What else do you fucking want, Diluc? Do you want me to get on my fucking knees and tell you that you’re right?”
Diluc runs a hand through his unruly hair, his ponytail long forgotten. He walks up to you briskly and grabs your wrist, yanking you towards him. You stumble down the first few steps towards him. “Can you be bothered to listen to me for just ten seconds?”
“Let go of me.”
“Not until you calm down,” Diluc says. His grip on your wrist tightens.
“Diluc, let go of me! You’re fucking hurting me!”
At that, Diluc releases your wrist. His hand falls down to his side as you pull yours to your chest, frowning and rubbing out the squeezed skin. He stares at you for a moment before turning around, his back facing you completely.
“Just go to bed.”

Baby Blue
technoblade x fem!reader
Tumblr media
concept: techno is scared of ‘corrupting’ the reader, but the reader’s kinda into it...
content warning // NSFW, virgin!reader, very minor angst?, small argument that gets resolved
listen to this while you read: BBBlue (Single) by Olivver the Kid
(this fic was heavily inspired by the lyrics of this song, so i highly recommended giving it a listen!)
───※ ·❆· ※───
When Techno found out you were a virgin, he was terrified. Not necessarily of the thought itself, but of the implications.
He’d never forget the look on your face when you told him. You tried to be casual about it, but he knew you well enough to spot the dusting of pink across your cheeks. You nuzzled yourself closer into his side. Whether out of embarrassment or something else entirely, he couldn’t tell. All he could feel was his heart dropping as the voices chanted at him to “ruin her”
Of course you, his pure sweet angel, would be a virgin. He once again crumbled under the idea that you had chosen him. How on earth could a person like you even think of being with a beast like him. Yet alone, giving up your virginity to him.
He hated how horribly turned on he was by the thought of taking it.
The voices had been relentless about it ever since. They were hyper focused on your every move, twisting every thought of his into something promiscuous. When you rolled out of bed in the morning and stretched, a small sigh escaping your lips, it was endless cries of “make her do that again” “you should fuck those moans out of her” “make her scream”
While making breakfast together in the morning, they wouldn’t stop telling him to “bend her over the counter” “take it right here”
Even at times where he was alone, the voices preoccupied him with endless thoughts of you. He was fairly certain they had forced him to imagine every possible way in which he could have you. “imagine fucking her against the wall” “you can be gentle for the first time y’know” “she’d feel so good writhing underneath us” “press her face into the mattress instead” “make her get on her knees and suck you off” “she’ll be such a pretty little slut for us”
He tried to take care of himself as often as he could, but it was becoming impossible to keep up with. There were only so many times a day he could jerk himself off alone behind locked doors. He was desperate, and sexually frustrated to say the least.
He felt disgusting for it.
After a week of this torment, he could barely even look at you yet alone touch you without the voices and his own guilt pounding against his skull. You couldn’t even think about broaching the subject again, because he was avoiding physical contact like the plague. He wouldn’t come to bed until he knew you were asleep, and would leave long before you woke.
As much as he tried to hide it, you could tell he was tired. Something was wrong, but you knew that he’d never just tell you about his problems unprompted. Techno was insufferably stubborn in that way. After several days of avoiding your gaze and leaning away from your touch, you chose to confront him.
“Techno”, you called for his attention quietly, trying to sound stern while remaining gentle with him. He didn’t turn to fully face you, but he glanced at the spot on the wall just above your head.
You struggled to find the words you wanted to say, so you settled on telling him, “Techno, you look tired.”
He turned his attention away from you. “Just a lot of work around the house this week. I’ll be fine after I rest.”
“Then come to bed with me.” You saw the way his body tensed and tilted away from you at that simple suggestion.
“I just need to write a couple letters first. You can go ahead of me.”
“Techno...”, you whined, daring to take a step closer to him. He gave you an almost panicked look, “why does it feel like you’ve been avoiding me?”
“I haven’t been avoiding you”, he responded quickly, trying to look through you instead of at you.
“Yes you have”, you responded firmly. A flash of guilt washed over his face at your tone. “You haven’t kissed or touched me for nearly a week now. I don’t even know for sure if you sleep in the same bed as me anymore. Fuck, you barely even talk to me.”
Angry tears threatened to spill down your cheeks, but you wanted to hold them in. Techno felt his chest tighten at the sight of it. He instinctively turned and reached out to comfort you, but forced himself to freeze.
“There”, you said, gesturing towards him, “just like that. You’re stopping yourself. Why are you doing that?”
He repeatedly opened and closed his fists at his side, wanting to have any conversation other than this one.
“[y/n], there’s just a lot going on in my mind right now”, he said. It wasn’t a complete lie. “I just need to work though it.”
“Then let me help you.”
“No”, he responded a little too quickly, “I- I mean, I just don’t want to talk about it with you yet...”
“Why not?”, you retorted, trying to squeeze any information you could out of him.
“I just don’t, okay? It’s uncomfortable, I don’t want to talk about it yet.”
“... is this about me being a virgin?”
“I never said that”, he replied, but the tension in his shoulders was enough to tip you off.
“Ah geez Technoblade, if it was that much of a problem for ya, you should have just told me”, you said sarcastically, “instead of avoiding all physical contact for a like week straight!”
“It’s not a problem, [y/n].”
“Certainly doesn’t feel that way.”
Techno huffed in frustration, grabbing a fistful of his hair at the root. He wasn’t sure if he was more upset with himself, or the fact that a few of the voices were still begging him to “please fuck her already”
“Love, I wasn’t avoiding you because I didn’t want it. They”, he tapped a finger against the side of his skull, “they want it so badly. It’s driving me insane.”
He breathed in and out shakily, trying to gauge your expression in the brief moments before he continued.
“I’m a monster. I’ve spilt more blood than anyone every should in a single lifetime. My appearance is more beast than man.”
He looked up briefly to find you staring right at him, a tight-lipped frown upon your face.
“What does that have to do with any of this?”
“I- ... I don’t want to corrupt your innocence”, he admitted.
“What on earth do you mean by that?”
“[y/n], you’re so perfect”, he answered almost breathlessly, “you’re so kind and so pure. Just living with me does enough to taint your reputation, I don’t wanna-“
He cut himself off to swallow thickly. He almost seemed scared of the words he was going to say next.
“I don’t want to ruin this part of you either...”
A heavy silence filled the tiny sitting room of techno’s cottage. In those few seconds, your eyes widened ever so slightly as his words suddenly clicked in your mind. This hulking boar of a man, an undisputed war criminal, was scared. He was scared of damaging you, your reputation, or your recently revealed ‘innocence’. Compared to himself, he saw you as a pure being who could be tainted by unwholesome thoughts.
If what he said about the voices was true, then his actions of the past few days would’ve made sense for him.
“Oh techno...”, you muttered softly, tentatively placing a hand on his jaw. His posture was curled inward, making him look small despite his size. He was stiff at first, but allowed you to lift his gaze to meet yours. He searched your eyes desperately for an indication of your reaction. You gave him a reassuring smile.
“Do you remember when we first met?”
A small wave of confusion washed over his face, but he nodded anyways. “It was at the festival...”
“That’s right”, you said, moving the hand on his face down to rest over his shoulder, “and do you remember what I did that day?”
“You threw an axe into Schlatt’s shoulder”, he answered, watching as the scene played out in his memory.
You lived with Niki in her bakery at the time, and witnessed firsthand the injustice she faced during Schlatt’s presidency. As the chaos after Tubbo’s execution occurred, you took the opportunity to hurl your axe where Schlatt stood upon his podium. The blow wasn’t fatal, but that wasn’t necessarily your goal. You just wanted to see the man in pain.
“It was a lucky shot really”, you admitted, “I wasn’t even aiming properly.” That managed to draw a small smile onto Techno’s lips.
“And do you remember”, you continued, “when I tried to confront the Butcher Army by myself?”
He grimaced at the thought. You had told him you just needed to make a quick trip to L’manburg for some supplies, leaving him at home alone to recover from the previous day’s events. You returned that evening with a sprained wrist and a couple large bruises forming on your body. None of them were trying to kill you, but you took a pretty good beating from Quackity just for trying to confront them.
“Why are you bringing all of this up now?”, he asked.
“Because”, you said, “this is the evidence that will support my next point.”
He looked bewildered by that statement, but continued to listen.
“I’m not a perfect person”, you resumed, “I have blood on my hands just like you do. I know it’s hard to compare to you, but I’m not devoid of my own sins. I can be mean, I’ve hurt people. I’m not a pure, angelic being who would quiver at a single inappropriate thought. I think you forget that sometimes.”
He let your words swirl around in his head; he couldn’t deny the logic in them. The evidence prevented him from denying the truth of your statement. He could almost be mad that you’d talked him into a corner, but he was more overjoyed at the fact that you knew him well enough to do so.
“And you know...”, you spoke quietly, letting your hand fall down to rest on his chest, “if you did somehow ‘corrupt my innocence’ as you say... I really wouldn’t mind that.”
Techno’s breath hitched in his throat. There were a brief few moments, maybe minutes, where he just stared at you. Then his lips were on yours; sudden and clumsy, but passionate. You gripped the fabric of his shirt as he grabbed at your waist, desperate to have you in his arms again.
“I’m sorry, I had to”, he muttered, his lips left hovering a hair’s breadth away from yours.
“You’re so silly sometimes”, you sighed affectionately, rubbing small circles into his collarbone. He gave you a gentle smirk before pressing another kiss into your lips.
“I’m sorry darling, I really am”, he said as he drew you into a tight hug. He took in your scent and the feel of your skin for the first time in days. It felt like he could survive off the feeling of your arms wrapped around his body alone. He wondered why he ever let himself be depraved of this.
“You know I trust you, right?”, you spoke with your face pressed into his chest.
“I’m not sure why, but yes.”
You decided not to reprimand him for saying that. You could help him unpack all that later. Instead, you brought your head up to whisper in his ear.
“You have my full and unconditional consent to take my virginity whenever you’re ready.”
Techno inhaled and held his breath, though for what, he wasn’t sure. It took a while for the full weight of those words to sink in. He leaned back to stare at your face, bringing one of his large and shaky hands up to cup your cheek.
“Are you sure?”, his eyes were wide with trepidation, practically pleading with you to tell him the truth. You leaned into his palm, indulging in the feeling of his skin on yours.
“I want you, techno. I’ll wait as long as you need me to.”
Techno was lost in your words. The sudden absence of guilt left his heart light and airy in his chest. For the first time in days, the voices were only a gentle murmur.
“she’s so beautiful” “she wants you” “make her feel good” “show her how special she is” “make her smile” “she’ll be so pretty” “she’s always pretty” “be gentle, no need to rush”
“make love to her”
“... I think I’m ready now.”
───※ ·❆· ※───
ayyyy guess who finally finished writing something!!!
parts of this feel a little rushed but ehhhhhh i was just excited to finally post it. i looove writing techno as an extremely self-conscious character who’s too caught up in their own head to see how ridiculous they’re being. so, this was a treat for me to write
i hope you enjoyed :D

“but I thought about how I needed to say this”
a.k.a. yet another meta dissection of The Apology. I actually wrote most of this up on Friday night based on the original Japanese (@pikahlua has an excellent translation up here, and I also used @hanashimas’ translations as a reference as well), but I wanted to wait until the official release, though that turned out to be a mixed bag to say the least lol.
I would also recommend reading @pikahlua and @class1akids’ breakdowns of this scene (here and here, respectively), because they are excellent, and because if any scene deserves to have as many meta breakdowns written about it as possible, it’s this one.
anyway so here goes.
Tumblr media
Caleb did a more accurate job with this than the fanscan, even if he did try his best to take us out of the seriousness of the moment by throwing in that swiss cheese line lol. anyway so there are two things I want to talk about here. the first is the line about Izuku not remembering, which I thought was a nice touch. of course he doesn’t remember what Kacchan said back then. he wasn’t exactly in the soundest emotional state after seeing one of the people he cares about most taking a near-fatal blow that was meant for him. I’d be shocked if he remembers anything about the aftermath (including the way he flew into a mindless rage afterwards) right up until the point when he entered the OFA Interstellar Party Void with Tomura. anyway, so I thought that was a nice callback.
and speaking of emotional states, the other thing I wanted to talk about is the part that Caleb got right which the fan scanlation didn’t. “but I had more to say.” in other words, “stop trying to win on your own” wasn’t just a one-liner; it was meant to be the beginning of a much longer speech. “there were other things that I needed to say.”
like, can we just stop and talk about that for a second. because basically what this means is that in that instant, when Kacchan pushed Deku out of the way and got impaled, his one and only thought was that he needed to apologize to Deku. his life was presumably flashing before his eyes, he had no idea if he was going to survive or not, and the only thing on his mind was how urgently he needed to make things right with his former childhood friend.
moving on!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so I have a confession to make, which is that I am relieved to see Katsuki describing this as the reason why he bullied Deku, as opposed to Horikoshi trying to retcon it into some sort of “secretly he was just trying to protect him and keep him out of harm’s way because he was worried” thing, which ngl would not have gelled very well with me. the thing is that I’m really not a fan of the whole “Kacchan Did Nothing Wrong” mentality that some fans seem to have. like, I have seen all sorts of convoluted attempts to find excuses for Katsuki’s shitty behavior, but in my view those attempts undermine what I love about his character in the first place. Katsuki is such a great character specifically because he is not perfect. his redemption arc is so compelling because he was such a giant asshole at the start. he was completely at fault, and he acknowledges this, and takes full responsibility for it. and that is fucking fantastic.
his arc is so great because it doesn’t rely on garnering sympathy by giving him a Tragic Past, or by trying to foist the blame for his behavior over on someone else. it’s an arc that acknowledges that redemption isn’t something you achieve by making people feel sorry for you; it’s something you have to earn by actively working to change and do better. and by forgoing the “misunderstood/tragic past” route, Horikoshi is making a statement that anyone can go down the wrong path, but that more importantly, anyone can also choose at any time to turn away from said path. there is only one requirement for doing so, and that is realizing that you’ve done wrong, and deciding that you want to change.
anyway, so in chapter 284 Kacchan of course had that whole speech about Deku not taking himself into account, and mentioned how that made him want to keep his distance. and a good chunk of fandom took this to mean that Katsuki’s bullying was actually a misguided response to Deku’s reckless tendencies -- sort of an “if I show him how weak and powerless he really is, I can get him to accept the reality that he’s quirkless, and that being a hero will just get him hurt or killed” type of thing. and I won’t lie, for a good while I was wondering myself if Horikoshi was really going to go down that route. and like I said, I am honestly relieved that he didn’t. not only for the reasons stated in the previous paragraph, but also because the message that would have sent -- that there are certain circumstances in which bullying can almost be excused because the bully had Good Intentions and was just trying to save the other person from themselves, and so it Wasn’t That Bad, Actually -- is all kinds of fucked up to say the least. so yeah, I’m glad we ended up steering well clear of that.
(ETA: this post was long enough already so I edited out the 3 additional paragraphs I originally wrote analyzing the dialogue from 284. but just to be clear, I’m not trying to imply that Kacchan worrying about Deku’s recklessness is a retconned thing that Horikoshi only threw into the story recently, because there are multiple instances throughout the story where he clearly is worried and in total denial of it. but I firmly believe those feelings are not what led to the bullying. they’re two separate things. Kacchan worrying about Deku is what prompts him to yell at him in chapter 1 when Deku comes to save him. but it’s not what incited him to burn his notebook and taunt him earlier in that same chapter. that action had a much meaner and more selfish motivation behind it, and I’m glad Horikoshi didn’t try to change it up last minute, because it wouldn’t have felt right.)
thankfully as of this chapter I think we can safely cross that out as a possibility, as we’re given the true explanation straight from Katsuki himself. and the truth is that he bullied Deku out of insecurity and jealousy and fear and intolerance. there was nothing noble about it. there were no good intentions concealed in his actions. there are no justifications given, no excuses offered, and no mitigating circumstances to be considered, other than the fact (which neither he nor Horikoshi bring up) that he was and is still a child, and that children make mistakes.
it’s an explanation that challenges many of fandom’s ideas on who is and isn’t eligible to be redeemed. there is no Ozai in Katsuki’s backstory. there’s no great tragedy that he spent a lifetime trying to rise above. the only villain in Katsuki’s story is Katsuki himself. the only darkness that he has to overcome is his own. and it’s challenging, because I think many people believe the only way someone can be redeemed for doing bad things is if bad things happen to them in return. but what Horikoshi is saying here is that that’s not the case. bad doesn’t erase bad. and the one and only way to truly earn redemption is by doing good.
and that’s what makes this such a phenomenal scene for me. by not shying away from Katsuki’s flaws and failings, and having him take full responsibility for them, Horikoshi keeps the apology from being self-serving, and underscores the true depth of Katsuki’s character development. the level of self-awareness he has here is something most people can only dream of. which is very fitting, as that’s perhaps the most important takeaway from his character arc -- that it’s only by acknowledging your own weaknesses and flaws that you can learn to overcome them and reach your full potential.
one last thing to point out here, which is that in the panel where Katsuki finally acknowledges his terrible treatment of Deku, Deku is not even visible. instead, Horikoshi drew the panel from a perspective that makes it appear that Katsuki is addressing this particular line not just to Deku, but to all of his classmates.
Tumblr media
again, he shows him taking full responsibility and admitting his wrongdoings in front of the people whose opinions and approval he cares about most. and just to clarify in case there’s any confusion from Caleb’s translation, Kacchan’s wording makes it very clear that he wasn’t just “mean” to Deku, but that he full-on bullied him (he uses the same verb -- “ijimeru” (苛める) -- that he did back in chapter 284). there’s no attempt to downplay his actions here.
Tumblr media
moving on now, this chapter also reaffirmed another thing about Deku and Kacchan’s relationship which I was glad to see revisited -- Kacchan’s unwavering belief in Deku’s ability. this is one of those paradoxical things about their relationship which I’ve always been fascinated by, but which is also kind of hard to explain, because I don’t want it to come off like I’m trying to put a positive spin on something which was unequivocally awful. like, please don’t think I’m trying to say that Katsuki’s bullying of Deku was in any way a good thing. but that being said, there’s also a strange irony at play here, which is that Katsuki’s jealousy and insecurity also betray the fact that even at his very worst, he never once underestimated Deku. he has always believed in Deku’s strength, even when that strength pissed him off and made him afraid and uneasy.
no one else -- not All Might, or even Deku’s own mom -- believed from the get-go that Deku could become a hero. but Katsuki never once counted him out, even when he was calling him a pebble in his shoe. he confesses here that even though he “tried to act superior by rejecting [Deku]”, in truth he was never able to shake the feeling that Deku was above him. long before he ever understood the concept of “win to save”, he knew instinctively that there was a strength in Deku’s heart that couldn’t be measured, and which had the potential to surpass even his own strength. and I’ve always felt that this was so important, because it’s the one aspect of their early relationship that hinted that on some level, however subconscious, Katsuki held the same type of faith in Deku that Deku always held in him. it was one of the few things that hinted at there being a possible path towards reconciliation one day. and it paved the way for the most important shift in their relationship to date, when Katsuki finally realized who Deku got his quirk from, and responded not with resentment or spite, but with acceptance.
moving on, I also really love the way we see them portrayed at the different stages of their childhood throughout this speech, and how it perfectly lines up with the dialogue. from small children (when Katsuki talks about his insecurities first manifesting), to middle schoolers (when he talks about the bullying), to high schoolers (when he talks about the past year and everything he’s learned at U.A.). Horikoshi really didn’t have to go that hard, but he did, and that’s why we love him.
and then we finally get to That Part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
where do I even start with this there are so many things omg.
the bow. this is the one and only time Katsuki has ever bowed to anyone of his own volition as far as I recall. and this absolutely is a bow, just to be clear, even though his form is straight-up garbage (very Kacchan-esque, with his feet and arms spaced apart because he’s still a punk after all). this is Kacchan showing more humility and respect than he’s ever shown to anyone else in his entire life.
regarding “Izuku”, I actually have mixed feelings about this to tell the truth. I think it was a good call here because it was incredibly effective in setting the tone and showing just how serious Kacchan is. however if he continues to use “Izuku” rather than “Deku” from here on out, that would give the impression in hindsight that all his past usage of “Deku” really was meant as an insult, which would undermine some of my favorite scenes. I would really like to believe that since DvK2 or thereabouts, Kacchan has (mostly) been using “Deku (affectionate)” rather than “Deku (useless loser)”, lol. but if he switches to the “nicer” name on a permanent basis following his apology, it implies that the previous nickname was indeed being used cruelly. and so honestly I hope this was just a one-time thing, because I do think that in Katsuki’s mind, the name “Deku” hasn’t been meant as a slight to him for a long time now.
“my truth/this is what I truly feel” -- the word Katsuki uses in Japanese is honne (本音), and if you’re familiar with the concept of honne/tatemae, that’s the same “honne” he’s talking about here. it means that he’s casting aside all of his walls and facades and expressing what he truly feels. and of course, one of the fascinating things about Katsuki’s character is that he’s the exact opposite of most people in that he chooses to put his meanness on full display to the public, and ironically it’s the kindest parts of himself which he tends to keep the most carefully guarded and hidden away. this also means that while his rage and anger are very often insincere and put on just for show, those relatively few occasions where he lets his humanity truly shine through are pretty much 100% genuine, as is the case with this one here.
and Deku’s face says it all when it comes to how powerful those moments can be as a result.
Tumblr media
and this, right here, is why it wasn’t enough for Katsuki to atone solely through his actions, and why he needed to actually say the words as well. it’s not that the words are more important; obviously the actions are far and away the most important part, and carry far more meaning. but the reason why Katsuki needed to say the words as well is simply because Izuku needed to hear them. needed to, and deserved to, because this is one of the most important people in the world to him.
and so he deserves to know that the relationship isn’t just one-sided, and that he is just as important to Kacchan as Kacchan is to him. he deserves to know that Kacchan understands how horribly he treated him, and that he’s sorry for it. and he deserves to know that Kacchan, without any expectation of it changing their relationship -- meaning that he will continue to feel this way regardless of what Izuku says or does from here on out -- cares about him. now more than ever, with AFO out there doing everything in his power to make Izuku feel as alone as possible, this is something that he really, really needed to hear.
Tumblr media
so this part has some interesting wordplay which neither Caleb’s translation nor the fan scanlation was really able to get across. basically, in the Japanese version, when Katsuki talks about “those ideals”, Horikoshi uses the kanji for “ideal”, but pronounces it as “All Might.” obviously the meaning of this isn’t too hard to decipher, as we all know how much both boys admire All Might. to them, he absolutely is synonymous with the Ideal. so this is a way of showing that respect they both have towards him, even as Katsuki goes on to point out the one fatal flaw that All Might was never able to overcome.
and speaking of interesting wording, as others have noted, at this point in his speech Katsuki switches from “temee” (which he was using earlier during the “your strengths and my weaknesses” part) to “omae” (“omae” being a less insulting word for “you”, though still very manly and tough-sounding), which is definitely a big deal. though fwiw this is not the first time he’s used “omae” for Deku (he switches to it briefly right after DvK2, when he tells Deku “you had the strongest guy lay the groundwork for you -- don’t lose”, and then later when they’re walking back to the dorms and he says he’ll learn and get stronger by watching everyone around him just like Deku did). it’s definitely a good choice on Horikoshi’s part though, as it makes this last part of the speech sound more earnest and sincere.
Tumblr media
just a quick note, he does indeed use a plural pronoun here, as in “the obstacles that you can’t overcome, we will overcome.” but as @pikahlua pointed out, the “we” here is ambiguous -- it could either mean “we” as in class 1-A -- “we will overcome them for you” -- OR it could mean “we” as in all of them -- class 1-A and Deku. “we will overcome them together.” idk about you, but I know which one gets my vote.
anyway, and so this is the line that finally wins Deku over and allows him to let go of his fears, however briefly. what I love about this is Kacchan’s utter conviction. one thing that Caleb’s translation doesn’t quite get across is Kacchan’s use of the word morenaku -- “without exception” -- when he talks about how they’re going to save everyone and win. it echoes that same sentiment he showed back during the Joint Training arc -- that it’s not a perfect victory unless they save everyone. every last person. and he explicitly lists Deku among their number, just so there can be no doubt.
and Deku’s response to this (or at least his thoughts, since he’s not really able to get many words out) pretty much brings everything full circle here.
Tumblr media
he acknowledges that everyone else has gotten ahead of him. which is especially meaningful given who he’s standing directly across from. because for most of the series, as we all well know, it’s been Kacchan who was woefully lagging behind Deku in the character growth department. but now Deku himself is acknowledging that not only has Kacchan finally caught up at last, but that he and the others have surpassed him. which is only temporary, I should add, as I have zero doubt that Deku will catch up again soon. but the fact remains that just as Deku’s rapid increase in strength and skill left Kacchan scrambling to keep up earlier in the series, Kacchan’s extraordinary character development has now left Deku in that same position. as All Might once put it, “when he’s starting at level one, and you’re already at level 50, it’s only natural that you’ll be growing at different rates.”
and what’s so wonderful about this though is that the two of them are finally approaching that point where they’ve both caught up to each other and are finally starting to level out. Deku is a full-on badass, and Kacchan is out here talk-no-jutsuing with the best of them. the two of them have been chasing and chasing after each other this entire time, and now they’re finally just about ready to meet in the middle at long last, with each of them fully embodying both of those two crucial aspects -- win, and save.
just about. because Deku still needs some help catching up. but seeing as help has already been offered -- and accepted -- I can’t imagine it will be very long now, and I can’t wait to see him finally overcoming those fears and doubts with his friends by his side. it’s going to be such a powerful moment.
and last but not least,
Tumblr media
or, as I prefer,
Tumblr media
you had one job, Caleb. flkjsdlk.
but at least this provides a good opportunity to note that unlike the “we’ll help you handle it” line earlier in the speech, here the phrasing is left up to interpretation, as he doesn’t use a pronoun. so it could be “we know”, or, as the fan scanlation put it, “I know.” or it could be both. regardless, it’s good stuff.
anyway, and so Deku passes out, and in the process Horikoshi gives us one last parting metaphor, just in case anyone still thinks Kacchan is all talk because they haven’t been paying attention for the past 322 chapters (more likely than you think). once again, Katsuki’s actions speak louder than his words (even his nice words) ever could: he is literally there to catch Deku when he falls.
so that’s it! my sincere thanks to anyone who actually read through all of my endless ramblings about this scene which I have been waiting for since day one. props to Horikoshi for taking on an impossibly difficult task, and pulling it off with all of the emotion and care and nuance that I’ve come to expect from his writing. imo he delivered on every single level with the exception of the aftermath, which I don’t consider to have actually happened yet. Deku’s part of this is definitely a “to be continued.” but yeah, as far as Kacchan’s part goes, 10/10. so fucking proud of this kid.

Misconceptions About Tommyinnit’s Character That Genuinely INFURIATE Me
Since the recent events following the second L’Manburg Festival and subsequent war, I’ve seen many, many hot takes surrounding the nature of Tommyinnit’s character on the SMP. Some of which annoyed me to the point where I felt compelled to sit down and actually write this. I’m going to only be highlighting the most common complaints or questions I’ve seen, one by one, in hopes of providing a better understanding of Tommy’s character for anyone interested. (I also briefly discuss Techno and Tubbo’s characters as well.)
If you’ve said similar things to what I’m going to be discussing below, please know that it’s perfectly understandable how you’d come to these conclusions. Some of these aspects of Tommy’s character are not always obvious; especially if being watched from another streamer’s POV. This may become quite lengthy, so bear with me for now.
“Tommy’s motives are all over the place. He can’t decide whether he wants the discs back or not.”
Tommy is actually one of the most motivationally consistent characters on the entire Dream SMP. Even Techno, someone completely confident in their ideals, does more motivational flipping than Tommy. From the very start of the story, Tommy has always cared for three things; L’Manburg, Tubbo, and his music discs. However, him caring for something is not itself a motivation.
Surprisingly enough, his motivation isn’t even just, ‘Get my discs back,’ like many assume it is. Tommy’s one true motivation, since the end of the Independence War, has always been, ‘Keep things the way they are now.’
Tommy’s one fatal flaw is that he is resistant to change and refuses to let go of the past. This is seen through all of his actions and words; in all conflicts involving him. This flaw is the drive to all of Tommy’s mistakes. Burning down George’s house, an action which resulted in him getting exiled, was done out of a desire to pull pranks the way he used to before the first war. His friendship with Ranboo started because Tommy said he reminded him of Tubbo, back before he was President.
Tommy still talks highly of Wilbur because he chooses to remember him as the wise, kind mentor who cared for him. This motive is the reason he defends L’Manburg so fiercely; it’s his memory of a better past. This is why he holds grudges more often than any other character; especially refusing to forgive Techno after he killed Tubbo during the Manburg Massacre.
It’s why Tommy falls under extreme distress whenever Tubbo or Quackity tell him that something will never be the same again. This motivation is entirely formed from an underlying desire for peace and comfort, something Tommy has been denied since being forced into a life wrought with war and death. To accept change, to Tommy, is painful and terrifying. But he will only ever truly be happy when he finally learns to let go.
“Why do the discs matter so much to Tommy? They’re not actually worth anything.”
Tommy’s discs are much more than just any ordinary pair of music discs. They were never important for their material worth, but for what Tommy was willing to sacrifice in order to keep them. Tommy is entirely what gives the discs their value.
Tommy also commonly operates under the Sunk-Cost Fallacy, wherein he’s invested too much of himself into something to just abandon it, even if it’s causing him problems. This mentality is a huge piece of what keeps him tied to both L’Manburg and to his discs. He’s sacrificed too much at this point to simply let them go. If he admits the discs are worthless, then he’s admitting that he wasted all this time and effort, just to keep them.
The discs also act as a constant source of hope for Tommy because they are directly tied with his motivations as a character. They’re something he’s had since the very beginning. They’re something he used to listen to with Tubbo on their shared bench.
To Tommy, they symbolize a life before war, filled with comfort and peace. They are a love letter to his country and his late mentor Wilbur. They are a physical representation of Tubbo’s companionship. They are the only thing, besides L’Manburg and his best friend, that gives him the hope that he can one day return things to the way they used to be.
This ideal, paired with Tommy’s refusal to let go, has left him ruthlessly pursuing the things he’s lost. Not his music discs, but his peace and comfort, his friendship, his country, his mentor Wilbur, and his life before war.
In his desperation to hold onto his prized possession, it has only hurt and pushed away the people that love him. If Tommy continues to ignore this reality, while still refusing to resolve his major flaw entwined with it, he will lose all that the discs had once stood for. He will lose his country, then his friend Tubbo, and then he will lose himself.
“Tommy never grows or learns from his mistakes. This makes him a badly written character.”
Characters do not have to constantly learn from their actions to be well-written. Tommy is one of the best examples of this. The fact that his growth is infrequent is the entire point of his character; it’s completely stemmed from his fatal flaw.
By addressing himself, he would be accepting change, something that terrifies him; something he stubbornly resists until he is absolutely forced to confront it. Contrary to popular belief, Tommy knows when he makes mistakes, but he pretends to be ignorant as to avoid facing reality. He digs his head in the sand despite knowing better, puppeteering the person he used to be during happier times, now gone.
In spite of his infrequent growth, the idea that Tommy still hasn’t learned anything isn’t quite correct either. Tommy, as of the last three plot streams, has shown incredible character development. By giving up his discs again, he had finally demonstrated that Tubbo is more important to him than his possessions. Speaking as a makeshift leader, he put aside his issues with others to rally them together against a common threat, something which Tommy had never been able to do before. He owned up to all of his mistakes openly, apologizing to everyone he’s ever hurt in one place.
He apologized to Tubbo after they were reunited and came to terms with the fact that Tubbo was forced to exile him without choice, finally forgiving him. He was kind to Sapnap and learned how to be his friend after months of bitter rivalry. And these are only a few examples. This isn’t to say Tommy has overcome/fixed everything because he clearly hasn’t. There are still major things Tommy needs to work through that remain unaddressed, the biggest being his complicated relationship with Technoblade.
“Tommy only cares about himself. He does everything in his power to be the hero, always putting himself in the center of attention, especially during Doomsday.”
Tommy, since the start of the L’Manburg War for Independence, has never set out to be a hero. Not once. He may fall into the role of the protagonist, but his identity as a hero was pushed onto him by others. Giving up the discs was his only option during the Independence War.
So when Wilbur called him a hero for it, Tommy said he didn’t feel like he was. During the November 16th War, Tommy again said he didn’t feel like a hero because he had lost what he thought was everything at the time. During exile, Tommy certainly knew he was no hero. And upon reuniting with Tubbo, he admitted to feeling like the farthest thing from it. That he’d hurt everyone and all he wanted to do now was fix it.
The day before Doomsday, Tommy only took a leadership position because no one else was willing to, filling the role for Tubbo, who was crumbling under pressure. He had no choice but to try to bring everyone together, or fight alone. Most viewers never saw this during Doomsday, but before the battle, almost everyone who had vowed to fight alongside L’Manburg had abandoned them the very next day. They were convinced it was going to be destroyed either way, no matter what they did, so they chose not to see it through to the end; ultimately leaving Tommy and those who remained to fight a losing battle, alone.
After about a third of the way through the battle, it became clear to everyone that they could do nothing to win. One by one, everyone stopped fighting and stood by to watch their country go up in smoke. Tommy was the only person on the battlefield who refused to stand down and give up. And so he took over the role as leader again, trying his best to keep them alive, to keep Tubbo hopeful; to keep fighting, no matter what.
However, what most people don’t realize, is that this isn’t Tommy trying to be a hero or force himself into the spotlight. This is Tommy trying to convince himself to keep going. Because whenever things start to look hopeless, Tommy simply chooses to ignore them. He puts on a happy face and soldiers through it because that’s all he knows how to do. Tommy, at his core, is someone who wants peace through stagnation. He doesn’t want to fight, although causing the occasional friendly conflict is how he finds fun. He doesn’t set out to purposely hurt others.
Tommy may come across as self-centered, but this is because he is an extremely extroverted character. He finds energy and joy in the attention of others, both good and bad. It’s why he’s always seeking the approval of others and, oftentimes, will destructively insert himself into another person’s life in order to find it.
Out of every character in the story, Tommy is the most drawn to praise and positive reinforcement. He is constantly seeking out mentors and friends because Tommy needs someone else to help him feel confident in his own identity and abilities. It’s why Wilbur was such a positive influence on him. His boisterous confidence has always been a front because if anyone were to actually hurt him, he knows it will make his self-esteem crumble instantly.
This is part of why Dream’s manipulation was so effective against him. By isolating him, he’s left without energy and looking to another person’s guidance. Tommy outwardly may seem independent and rude, but just under the skin, he’s unconfident and lost when he’s by himself. Tommy will only grow from this flaw when he finds his own identity and inner confidence; when he finally learns to be okay with being alone.
“Tommy goes to the festival solely to get his disc back and then tells Tubbo to give it away immediately after. That doesn’t make any sense.”
Before the screaming match between the two friends during the second L’Manburg Festival, Tommy had been in exile, manipulated by Dream for long enough to lose his will to carry on. It is because of him that Tommy’s reality becomes distorted, long after fleeing from his abuser. This mangling of ideals leads Tommy to subconsciously believe that L’Manburg and Tubbo are unsalvageable.
Therefore, the only thing he has hopes of retrieving are his discs, which are easier to manage than the latter two things. And so Tommy does reprehensible things at the behest of Techno in a vain hope of getting them back, going so far as to kidnap and torture for them. This ultimately culminates in a confrontation between the ex-friends, quickly turning violent. It is in this violence that we see Tommy has sunk to his absolute lowest point in his journey.
Swinging his axe, he nearly kills his friend as he delivers a string of words that cause the room to silence instantly. He says the discs were always worth more than his friend. Within the quiet of the room, Tommy is forced to reflect on everything he’s done. How he kidnapped and tortured Connor. How he accidentally drowned Fundy. How he traumatized Ranboo.
And now he’s hurt Tubbo, the one person he has always sought to protect; someone he vowed to never hurt. This realization causes Tommy to break. He’s so ashamed of himself that he can’t look at anyone. Tommy knows now that he is worse than anyone he’s ever hated.
With pain in his voice, he tries and fails to apologize to Tubbo in the moment. The only way he knows to redeem himself now is to prove to Tubbo, after everything, that he can still put the discs aside. And so he does.
“The fact that Tommy is still trying to get his discs back after L’Manburg was destroyed is unreasonable and ridiculous.”
Tommy deals with grief in an interesting way, doing something very similar to Techno. His grief almost instantly becomes anger and a drive to prove himself. It morphs into a need for vengeance in response to injustice, always.
After the destruction of L’Manburg, Tommy saying he wants the discs back is a double-sided motivator. The obvious side being: Tommy still needs them to feel comfort. The subtle side beneath it: Tommy is using them as an excuse to find Dream and kill him. To make him pay for helping destroy their home, hurting his friends, and abusing him in exile.
Upon the loss of his home, I’d also argue the discs have only grown more important to Tommy in the aftermath. Typically, in grief, people hold onto things that survive devastation far more than if the tragic event never occurred. If your eldest child dies, one may hold their surviving children tighter. If your house burns down, one may deeply treasure a box of items that survived the flames. Tommy’s desperation after losing so much is entirely understandable.
On top of this, the discs are still the core to Tommy’s fatal flaw. They are what keeps him from achieving total happiness, so him getting over this intrinsic part of himself so easily would make for an unsatisfying character arc. He still has to work for his happiness in order to change for the better.
To add, I’ve seen a lot of people complaining that Tommy is still prioritizing the discs over Tubbo, especially in that moment. And while I mostly agree, there are some interactions that stand out to me as being different between the pair that may imply otherwise. Tommy says a few times that despite L’Manburg being destroyed, he still has something left to lose; each time, turning to look at Tubbo.
This subtly implies that losing Tubbo would be as devastating as losing his home. Tubbo also never voices disagreement over Tommy’s continued pursuit of the item. However, Tubbo frequently does what he thinks will make others happy, so this doesn’t implicitly mean support for Tommy either. Besides these two things, this is still Tommy’s fatal flaw shining through, continuing to hurt others around him.
I only hope Tubbo can learn to stand up for himself and voice his real thoughts to Tommy now, after everything. It would provide at least some desperately-needed closure for Tubbo’s character.
“How could Tommy betray Techno like that? Techno told him upfront what he was going to do.”
While it’s true that Techno was obvious about his plans, Tommy was also just as upfront with Techno about what he thought of it. In fact, maybe even more so, considering Techno attempted to hide them from Tommy for a good portion of their partnership. Whenever Techno brought up the idea of destroying L’Manburg or hurting Tubbo, Tommy would always remind Techno that he didn’t want to hurt anyone. And that if Techno ever did, Tommy would be there to stand in his way. He never once stopped saying this.
Tommy’s two major positive character traits have always been his undying loyalty and his strength to never give up, even in the face of death. Two classically heroic qualities, both of which, ironically, reinforce his fatal flaw. His refusal to change makes him stubborn; stubbornness being the only quality that makes unwavering loyalty and extreme persistence feasible.
Because of these two traits, it was impossible from the start for Dream to completely break Tommy’s spirit and for Techno to get him to agree to anything too extreme. Despite this, Techno already had no hope of keeping Tommy on his side after the events of the day before the Festival. During it, Tommy had asked multiple times for Techno to give his word not to hurt anyone. That they’d only threaten to spawn a wither, get Techno’s remaining weapons in exchange, then leave. That’s it.
Techno avoided directly promising Tommy but still agreed not to regardless. So when Techno chose to spawn the wither anyway, despite Tommy urging them to leave multiple times, whatever trust Tommy had with him went completely out the window. Thus, when the threat was finally real, that Techno would make due on his promise to burn his home country to the ground and slaughter his friends, Tommy intervened. It would be unreasonable to expect Tommy not to stand against him in that moment, especially after his mental breakdown which ensued as a result of him nearly killing his best friend.
Adding salt to the wound on Tommy’s end, Techno decided to also align himself with Dream, someone Techno knew Tommy was afraid of. This might have been a way to purposely hurt Tommy. More likely, it was because Dream and him shared a common goal in the moment and Techno desperately needed allies.
However, the implication of Techno siding with Tommy’s abuser most certainly hurt him, regardless of its original intentions. This is possibly why Tommy kept insisting through Doomsday that Techno betrayed him, avoiding actually telling anyone the reason as to why. If he couldn’t find the words to describe what Dream did to him, even to Tubbo, he certainly wouldn’t be able to tell Techno either.
“Techno gave Tommy everything, only to be repaid with betrayal.”
This statement regarding Tommy is the one I see most often. (It is also the one I get the most heated about.)
Dream’s character is well known for his manipulation tactics against other characters; pitting them against each other, crushing them under his heel, bending their will to conform to his own. It’s what makes him an interesting villain. It’s something fun to discuss.
But is it still fun to discuss manipulation tactics if they’re so subtle, almost no one notices them? This is the paradigm Technoblade’s character falls into. While people know Techno for his laid-back personality, dry humor, and complex motivations, many fail to recognize him as a manipulator. The reason why this is so hard to spot is because it is mostly unintentional on behalf of the character. Dream performs his craft with intention, Techno does it without realizing.
As well as this being unwitting, it is sandwiched between Techno’s actual attempts to connect with Tommy and care for him. Thus, making the manipulation feel less damaging. The only problem is, this still hurts Tommy just as much, regardless of the intentions behind it. Especially after just escaping Dream, Tommy’s reality and sense of identity are horribly distorted. In this vulnerable state, he desperately needs healing and someone to help ground him. This is what makes him even more susceptible to Techno’s influence.
And because it is much subtler, it is harder to notice, and much harder to break free from. Despite Tommy claiming to hate Techno for what he did on November 16th, he still chose to flee to his house because it was the only place he could think of going, as well as being the safest area possible. After the failed execution, Techno mentioned potentially hurting Tubbo through a vengeance plot. Tommy voiced extreme distress over this, to which Techno threatened to kick him out of his house.
Tommy then says he’s fine being homeless because he doesn’t want anything to do with someone who would hurt his friend. This is when Techno decides to weaponize Tommy’s own trauma against him. To be fair to Techno again, Tommy never told him the extent of the abuse he suffered in exile. But Techno isn’t stupid. He knows Tommy is extremely afraid of Dream, and for good reason.
So he tells Tommy that if he were kicked out, he’d be defenseless. That if he were out there all alone, Dream would find him very easily. That Dream would drag him right back to Logstedshire in an instant. He notices the way Tommy reacts to this, how quickly he changes his mind about being kicked out. He continues to use this trauma repeatedly in order to keep Tommy under his roof, no matter how disagreeable he gets about Techno’s plans. He knows he can’t retrieve his weapons alone because he has no leverage.
Therefore, using Tommy like a wild card was a major side strategy. Techno knows it will hurt Tubbo by doing this and may make the President more willing to compromise. In addition to this, many of the strategies Techno utilizes are Narcissistic manipulation tactics, categorized by their intent to keep the victim in a position below the abuser in terms of worth. This includes Techno using the silent treatment as a punishment, something which hurts Tommy since he craves affection from others.
He also attempts to isolate Tommy by telling him he doesn’t need anyone else; that everyone abandoned him during exile (something which Dream has also said.) He tells Tommy that he’s only alive because Techno is there to defend him and supply for him, as well as constantly reminding Tommy to not let any compliments he receives get to his head. These are both meant to make Tommy depend more on Techno and doubt his own abilities. Techno also occasionally engages in subtle gaslighting, attempting to sow doubt in Tommy’s mind about his relationships with Tubbo, Quackity, Ranboo, and Fundy.
It’s also vital to keep in mind what exactly separates Dream and Techno in this regard. The most important thing being that Techno actually does care about Tommy. He trusts him and wants to earnestly help him. He knows Tommy has been traumatized and abused in some way, but he doesn’t know how to help because he’s not that great with people. It also doesn’t help that Tommy is unable to tell anyone what happened.
In the end, Techno really does want to be a shield for Tommy. Despite debating handing Tommy over to Dream, it’s more likely Techno was using this as bait for Dream to waste his favor on something useless. After all, he could always save Tommy, should he ask for him to. Techno’s warnings about Tubbo and L’Manburg also come from a place of love, as Techno was personally hurt by them and wants to protect Tommy by telling him to leave it behind. However, just because something is done out of love, doesn’t mean it’s automatically helpful or good for someone.
There’s no better example of this than in Techno’s most damaging and frequently used tactic: ‘Buy Their Love,’ a technique commonly used on children by narcissistic parents. At first glance, nothing seems wrong. Techno gives Tommy most things he asks for; providing him with food, gifts, protection, and a place to sleep. The manipulation within this arises when the act of kindness is counted as a debt against the person who receives it. That by receiving so many good things, they would be ungrateful to go against their abuser. Doesn’t matter if they emotionally or physically hurt you, they gave you gifts, so you should shut your mouth and allow the abuse to continue.
Whenever Tommy speaks out against Techno’s violent actions or his plans to hurt his friends, Techno would frequently bring up all his ‘good deeds.’ He consistently reminds Tommy that he could’ve just thrown him back to Dream, but he was too kind. That he went out of his way to give him gear, food, and a roof over his head. That he was kind so Tommy should be quiet and let Techno plot to hurt the people he loves. Or else he’s selfish and ungrateful. Or else Techno will take all of his gifts back and leave him with nothing.
Knowing this, it is horrifying seeing people justifying this behavior by mocking Tommy’s character and calling him ungrateful using this very same fallacy. (Especially for those who grew up being controlled by this very tactic.)
It is through knowing Techno’s use of the ‘Buy Their Love,’ method that makes Tommy’s, ‘I am worthy,’ response, not one of betrayal, but one of triumph. This moment is a major positive character change for Tommy for many reasons. When Tommy decides to stand against Techno, this causes him to fall back on his most reliable tactic. He insults Tommy and then asks for the Axe of Peace back. Instead of caving, Tommy refuses.
By keeping the Axe of Peace, Techno’s final gift to him, he is not only rejecting the destruction of all he loves, but he is breaking free from Techno’s manipulation. He says, ‘I am worthy,’ because now he knows his own self-worth. He doesn’t need Techno or Dream to decide it for him. This moment is Tommy finally breaking free from not just Techno, but Dream as well. He is finally free.
“Tommy was only using Techno and never thought of him as a friend.”
Tommy and Techno’s relationship is complicated, which is why pretending only one side was in the wrong isn’t entirely accurate. Their friendship, in summary, is tragic when fully examined; being doomed from the start. Techno and Tommy are brought into conflict often because they are simultaneously so similar and so different. Techno and Tommy both deal with grief in the same way. They both long for a life of peace and comfort. They each long for companionship, hold their ideals in kind, and are both naturally resilient in the face of adversity.
Yet, their personalities and courses of action are polar opposites. What makes this friendship one of tragedy is the fact that not just Techno, not just Tommy, but both of them, actually thought the other was their friend. They had each wanted to be the other’s friend since the day they’d met. Tommy never stopped wanting to impress Techno and get on his good side, even if his methods annoyed the target of his affections. Him calling Techno ‘The Blade’ was never meant to dehumanize him; it was a title of adoration.
Along the same spectrum, Techno is a character who generally longs for friendship, but pretends not to after a lifetime of hurt. He’s been burned too many times, and so he chooses to stay alone. Techno is generally very reclusive and awkward around others, so when he likes someone or cares for them, it’s noticeable from a mile away. Their friendship has a very brotherly dynamic, and the fact that Techno allowed him to stay in his house, implies Tommy is a step above pretty much everyone else but Phil. Putting up with Tommy’s shenanigans is itself a sign of affection.
However, when their goals come into conflict and the two start to drift apart, they deal with this in massively different ways. With Tommy devastated and enraged, and with Techno withdrawn and hurt, once more burned by someone he slowly learned to trust. They were once both friends, neither one was pretending. Yet, both of them thought their companionship was unreciprocated.
On top of this, both Techno and Tommy were using each other. Techno used Tommy to get his weapons back by manipulating and lying to him. Tommy used Techno to protect him from Dream and get his discs back. They each hurt the other and refused to listen, both shouting valid complaints at the other that they refused to hear.
Their relationship is also deeply affected by the themes of vengeance in the current arc, which is something I haven’t seen many people talk about. Most of the current conflicts this past month have resulted from characters being unable to forgive, resorting to revenge as a way to cope with loss. L’Manburg was the first to initiate this, through the influence of Quackity. The Butcher Army was formed to punish Techno for a war crime he committed. And while this is perfectly reasonable, what isn’t is the way the incident was orchestrated. It was an unchecked abuse of power to execute someone without a fair trial, as well as punishing Phil, who was not involved whatsoever.
This was also particularly unfair to Techno, as many projected their anger at Wilbur onto him. Even Tommy did this, finding himself unable to blame his late mentor, so Techno was the next best option for him. However, it was Techno’s response to this that was interesting. He chose a path of vengeance, the same way L’Manburg did, after vowing to live his life as a pacifist. By doing this and following through, he hurt everyone, not just the people he claimed needed to pay for their actions.
Instead of just picking the weed in the garden, he set the entire flower bed on fire. Through L’Manburg’s destruction, he gets what he wants. He destroys their government, but he also scars the earth and shatters the sky. He leaves uninvolved people homeless, deeply hurting Ranboo, Eret, and especially Ghostbur. Philza turns to vengeance as well, taking his anger at the death of his son out on people who do not deserve it.
Tubbo, a day before the second Festival, was given another chance to seek revenge when Techno had spawned a wither on their land. Instead, all Tubbo could say was, ‘We do nothing … It’s pointless, vengeance. It’s poisonous.’ By doing this, he has managed to be a bigger person than even Techno was, with the strength and maturity to turn the other cheek. And now with Tommy’s plan to kill Dream, the conflict continues to escalate; only ending where forgiveness begins.
It’s sad to think, if Techno didn’t choose a path of vengeance and Tommy was strong enough to tell Techno how he really felt, the two might have remained friends. Who knows? Maybe they still can.
“Tommy was the one in the wrong. Techno was right to destroy L’Manburg.”
Techno is a lovely character. He’s well-written, engaging, funny. He has many values and quirks that are generally relatable and interesting. His motives are deeply understandable and sympathetic. And yet, he is perfectly capable of being evil, in just the same way that Tommy can be deeply flawed despite being the protagonist.
I’m sure most people already know that Technoblade is a villain. Or more accurately, a tragic antagonist. Techno (the streamer) knows he is and he’s having fun playing that part. Just because a character is morally in the wrong doesn’t mean their values and ideology don’t have merit. The best character I could compare Techno to is Thanos.
They have completely valid concerns and points, but it is the way in which they go about achieving their goals that makes them into evil people. And despite this, many will still agree with them, even after they do something reprehensible. Contrary to popular belief, Technoblade’s tendency towards violence isn’t a good thing, no matter how you look at it. Even Techno himself knows this, that’s why he decided to reform and become a pacifist with Phil. He was not a good influence on Tommy, on top of also manipulating him.
Techno caving to hatred and vengeance makes him no different to the resolve of the Butcher Army that pursued him. It is precisely the fact that he went on to destroy the home of not just Tommy, but also Ranboo and Ghostbur, that puts him in the wrong. He is allowed to despise all government and remove himself from it, but the moment he decided to insert himself into someone else’s country and take their home from them in order to destroy it, he abandoned an integral principle to his own values.
This principle being: ‘Choice.’ The act of letting others be free to decide what they want for themselves. It is a huge component to the concept of anarchy, the freedom to choose. And yet Techno robbed this from, not just the ruling powers that hurt him, but individuals who were not even involved in the first place. He justifies this by saying it’s for their own good, that he’s helping; while acting in a self-serving manner.
In his anger, he became the punisher, stooping lower than L’Manburg has ever gone. There is also the issue of Dream weaponizing Techno to destroy the one thing that has been a thorn in his side since the very start, manipulating Techno’s grief to achieve his goals. Tommy’s biggest sin in the Doomsday War was standing up to Techno and getting in the way of him hurting his friends and destroying his home.
This isn’t to say Tommy is perfect, because he still hurt everyone he ever loved. But the only way he knew to redeem himself was to fight for what he knew was right. And so he chose to fight alongside his best friend, Tubbo. However, just because Techno is in the wrong doesn’t mean others are wrong for wanting to side with him, or by finding joy in his ruthlessness. The biggest appeal of Techno is the fact that he opposes people like Tommy.
He knows how to put people in their place and it’s satisfying to watch. Some people love rooting for villains and it’s entertaining to see a being with so much power crush everyone else down so effortlessly. Especially because it’s so easy to sympathize with Technoblade. Sympathetic villains are the best kind; where they have understandable motivations, relatable flaws, people they love, and something they can lose. Dream is a villain you love to hate. Technoblade is a villain you hate to love. Simple as.
Despite the destruction of L’Manburg being either devastating or fantastic depending on who you are, there is one major good it has done. It has pushed Tommy more towards the completion of his character arc. By losing one of the three things he loves, it will be impossible for him to pretend any longer. He will be forced to confront reality very soon. It all depends on whether Tubbo will have to die first for him to finally see it.
