I like how in ASOIAF lore, different cultures around the world have their own explanation for the Long Night. In Westeros (aka Europe), a bunch of ice zombies from the north arrived and began fucking shit up. In Yi Ti (aka China), the emperor went mad after killing his sister, leading to him doing all this wild shit like cannibalism and marrying a tiger-woman.

One, it’s interesting and reminiscent of how real-world cultures have their own explanation for how the world came to be. Two, those are VERY different explanations for the same event. I’m sure people in Westeros, if they heard the Yi-Tish version of the Long Night, would just say, “Oh, your emperor went mad? That’s like a daily thing here.”
