inspiration saturday! 🎄🦌
tagged by the lovelies @hippolotamus @daffi-990 @spotsandsocks @the-likesofus @thewolvesof1998 @hoodie-buck
okay so, i have a few ideas for holiday fics and i haven't really decided which ones to write. so... here's a christmas moodboard for inspiration and the options, if you guys could vote ur favorite i'd love u forever and ever.
Tumblr media
1. it's chris and eddie's first christmas without shannon and also away from texas. it has to be perfect— they have to choose the perfect tree but the cute, stupidly hot guy selling the trees is really not helping.
buck's been working extra shifts at the station and now also selling christmas trees on his free time since his sister is in town asking for his help to hide from her psychotic husband and can't currently find a job. he meets the most adorable kid ever and the hottest dad he's ever seen. they flirt, they bicker a little bit and buck thinks that's it. he won't see the guy ever again... until he shows up at the toy drive they're hosting at the station and accidentally stands under a mistletoe. what other choice does buck have but to kiss him??
2. buck and eddie are exes. they haven't seen each other in years. until sophia invites buck over for christmas and some feelings reemerge. their love might not be dead after all.
3. buck gets dumped on christmas eve and eddie being the amazing friend he is, he tries to cheer him up. christmas has always been better with them together anyway, who needs a stupid girlfriend?
4. buck ends up in a coma and somehow, his neighbor eddie ends up on the hospital bed next to him with buck's entire family thinking they're dating. when buck wakes up with amnesia and he thinks eddie's his boyfriend, things get a little bit more complicated. eddie finds it really hard to not tell the truth when he hasn't ever felt this at home before.

Response Time (2k) Oneshot
Just realized I also never posted this fic over here SO. I am posting it now. Anyways, tooth rotting fluff before I start posting the myriad of angsty!buck fics i have locked and loaded
Read on A03 here
SUMMARY
The 118 respond to a call, which isn’t unusual in itself. But it might explain a lot to Probational Firefighter Evan Buckley’s new crew. In which the 118 meet Eddie and Chris for the first time.
“Buck, what are you doing at home? You still have at least another 12 hours before you’re supposed to be here,” Eddie points out in confusion, he glances at the stove to double-check the time. When Eddie finally turns to look at Buck, the sight of his husband in turnout gear finally makes him pause.
"Well, you see, I’m here 12 hours before the end of my shift because our neighbors called the fire department on you,” Buck replies, unimpressed.
“Are you fucking kidding me? They called the fire department?” Eddie complained in a bitchy tone. “It was only a small stove fire. I’ve already gotten it handled. There were only a few flames. Maybe they should mind their business.”
“I think most people, me included, prefer erring on the side of caution when it comes to smoke billowing out of open windows, Eddie.”

For the soft prompts:
16, Buddie
how could i resist writing something for "laughing while kissing"? thank you for sending the prompt <3
[read on ao3]
It’s late, the kids are in bed – even Chris is in his room, though he’s probably still up reading or on his phone, Buck only made sure he turned off his laptop – and his husband is waiting for him by the back door with a smile.
“Sit outside with me?” Eddie asks, and Buck grabs the hand he’s holding out. He’d follow Eddie anywhere, and their backyard is one of the least scary places he’s followed him to.
The backyard is lit by the string lights they put up last year, a few months after they moved in. One of the neighbors is having a party, laughter and the distant sound of music wading over to them.
They’ve got a Hollywood swing on the porch, one of the big 4-seater ones that Christopher insisted on getting, now that they have the room. Buck and Eddie often sit on it in the evenings, and Buck always thinks of that cliché of an old couple on their rocking chairs. If he and Eddie get to grow old together on this swing, he’ll have fulfilled a dream he’s had since before he could articulate it.
Tonight, though, Eddie leads him past it and off the porch into the middle of the backyard.
“Where are we going?” Buck asks, curious but not worried. “I thought we were just gonna sit out here.”
“Changed my mind,” Eddie says, grinning in that playful way he’s only started doing in the past few years, in the time after his breakdown and his way out of all the pain and repression. Buck loves it.
Eddie pulls on his hand sharply, and Buck stumbles into him, bracing himself with a hand on his chest. Still grinning, Eddie wraps an arm around him and lifts their joined hands in the approximation of a dancing pose.
Buck laughs. “We’re dancing?”
“Yeah,” Eddie says, swaying them back and forth in the rhythm of the song playing in the distance. “We’re dancing.”
Buck smiles and steps closer, letting go of Eddie’s hand so he can wrap his arm around his shoulders instead. Eddie adjusts easily, leading them in small circles around their backyard.
“Did you ever think we’d end up here?” Buck asks quietly after a few minutes, his temple pressed to Eddie’s.
“If someone had told me that first day we’d end up here, I would’ve sent them in for a brain scan,” Eddie answers, and Buck pinches his chest lightly, grinning into his neck. Eddie laughs. “No, I don’t know. I mean, after a certain point I hoped we would, but I don’t think I really believed it until we got married.”
“Sometimes I still don’t believe it,” Buck admits, and Eddie turns his head to kiss his cheek, his lips trailing all the way back to his ear.
“Well, believe it,” he murmurs. “None of us are going anywhere.”
Buck smiles, thinking of the rest of their family in their house behind them. This is his life, and he gets to keep it. Gets to keep them, be kept by them.
“I love you,” he says, and Eddie squeezes his waist, kisses the spot right below his ear.
“I love you,” he echoes, and Buck will never ever get tired of hearing those words from him.
The music in the distance switches to a more uptempo song, and Eddie speeds them up too, spinning faster. Buck grabs his hand again and lets Eddie spin him, laughing.
“I’m gonna get dizzy,” he warns, and Eddie wraps him in his arms for a moment before twirling him again.
“I’ll catch you,” he promises.
He will, he always has, but Buck changes the placement of his hands anyway, using Eddie’s surprise to spin them once quickly, and then dipping Eddie.
Eddie lets out a yelp that turns into a laugh halfway down, his hands clinging to Buck’s shoulders tightly.
“You dick,” he laughs, and Buck kisses his bared throat, keeping them in this position for now.
“Revenge,” he says, laughing when Eddie kicks a leg up and tries wrapping it around the back of Buck’s.
It’s not a big change and doesn’t make Eddie much heavier in his arms, but it’s still enough to make Buck lose balance. He tries to catch himself unsuccessfully but topples over, trying to control Eddie’s fall as much as possible, which means that his hands are so busy catching his husband that he can’t catch himself and lands right on top of him with a breathless, “oof.”
“You okay?” Eddie asks, and Buck lifts himself onto his elbow so he doesn’t crush him anymore.
“Yeah, are you?” he asks back. “I’m sorry–”
“It was my fault, Buck,” Eddie interrupts him, grinning again already. “And you know I don’t mind having you on top of me.”
Buck snorts. “You could’ve just said. There are easier ways to get me in this position.”
“Yeah, I know exactly how easy you are,” Eddie teases, and then he’s laughing again, his body shaking under Buck’s, and Buck can’t help but join in.
“You’re an idiot,” he says without any heat, and Eddie’s hand comes up to cup the back of his head.
“But you still married me,” he says, sounding so pleased about it that Buck has to laugh again, and bend down to kiss him.
“What can I say,” he murmurs, his grin meeting Eddie’s. “You’re my idiot.”
Eddie laughs into his mouth and keeps kissing him, right here on the dry grass in their backyard, someone else’s music the distant soundtrack.

Teaser Tuesday - waves
Technically, Sophia had met Maddie before she met Buck, but that was only because, after an hour into the ceremony, Buck had drifted off against his Captain’s shoulder. Bobby, as he introduced himself with an easy going smile and a strong shake of her hand, waved off Maddie’s concern and pointed her towards the cake. “Get yourself some. I’ve got him.” Sophia watched it all from the neighboring table, considered introducing herself to him because, aside from the scratches on his face and the cast on his leg, he was awfully handsome but something told her not to bother with it. Maybe they could have had fun for a night, but Buck was never going to look at her the way he looked at her brother.
Maddie got herself a piece of cake, and Pepa flagged her down with an insistent hand, reaching out to grab her sleeve and tug her closer to the table. “You are his sister, right?” Pepa asked with a significant nod towards Buck’s sleeping cheek against Captain Bobby Nash’s shoulder.
Maddie shifted and sat at the seat that Helena had been in earlier. Sophia wanted to tell her that Helena wouldn’t like that very much when she came back from wherever she had disappeared to snoop in but she was glad she decided to say nothing at all when Adriana rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to Henry. “Yes. I’m Maddie.” She introduced herself.
Pepa smiled. “I’m Eddie’s Tia. Pepa.”
A spark of recognition. “Ev-Buck’s told me about you.” Maddie observed. “You have a dog?”
“Paco,” Pepa corrected with a look in the direction of her husband. “Has a dog.” She pointed at Sophia. “This is Sophia, Adriana and Henry. The girl’s are Eddie’s sisters., Henry is his nephew.”
“Oh!” Maddie wiped her hand on her jeans. “Hello! You guys are up from Texas, right?”
“Right.” Sophia answered when Adriana barely did more than force a smile in recognition.
Figures, really. Adriana always had a sore spot for any time they were gathered to celebrate anything Eddie accomplished. She had frowned her way through his Army graduation, his wedding, she had let her frustration at breaking tradition well known when Eddie was at Christopher’s baby shower. Sophia had only seen her look perversely happy at Shannon’s funeral and she hadn’t had the energy to ask her why, exactly, that was. “That’s great!” Maddie glanced over at Buck with a funny little frown and then sent the two of them a wincing smile. “I promise Buck doesn’t usually fall asleep at big parties. He’s on a lot of painkillers and insisted he come.”
Pepa waved away her apology with a pat of her hand. “How is he?” She asked worriedly. “Eddie mentioned he needed a few surgeries.”
“Three.” Maddie confirmed with a nod. “He’s doing okay, I think. Isn’t getting much sleep.”
Pepa hummed. “Nightmares.”
“He’s uncomfortable.” Maddie said with a sympathetic smile. “He just moved into this apartment with a loft bedroom? He can’t exactly handle those stairs right now.”
Sophia should have seen it for what it was back then, the entire conversation. Pepa was fishing for information because Eddie was more fond of Buck than he let on around them. But Sophia had just thought it was a kind concern and Maddie had seemed nice enough. Sweet. She hadn’t had an opinion on Buck because she had never really met the man until she did. And then her opinion had been stalled because Eddie had admitted all too willingly and much too fondly that he also found his best friend attractive.

Come Get Your Funky Lovestory
Pairings: Eddie Brock x Reader, slight Bucky x Reader, Sam Wilson x Reader (platonic), Peter Parker x Reader (platonic)
Warning: Mention of death.
@preciousbabypeter
Whew, what a week! It was a rollercoaster. After everything went down, I kept close eyes on Peter. Even though he is an Avenger and everyone claims that he will be fine, I know he won’t be, because at one point I lost everything too. I was married when I first met Steve and Bucky in the 40s. Who knew my one wrong decision would lead me here.
After I lost my husband in the war, I took up the Hydra program for two years as means to earn money. I had a son Abel who now I had to look after and being a cook didn't give me enough income. But it was a domino effect after that. They had programmed the winter soldier to safe keep the Adaptoids. To make my escape, to find my son I had to fight the man for whom my feelings were growing, who was there to hold me when my world crumbled down, who kissed me that night at the carnival to keep my brain calm, and who gave me his jacket when it got chilly.
Steve was a big help (even though my hydra brain was initially trying to kill him) and after finding out my son was dead, after all the wars I just want a break. Not just for me but for Peter too. I can’t help but feel like a big sister to him. I tried to settle myself by getting a job in the Hell kitchen since that was what I did in the 40s. Yes, while the Avengers were trying to figure out how to defeat Thanos, I was perfecting Steak au Poivre.
While I thought I could rekindle my romance with Bucky it turned out fatal. I know he is trying but when you have spent 40 years with Winter Soldier it gets tough to explain your brain, he is not the same and it did break my heart to see him flirt with Sarah and here I thought if I will be able to fight away the thought that Bucky is not longer a threat to my life, we have a chance. But he didn’t even mention the kiss so I returned his jacket (to Sam I am not ready to have the conversation with Bucky why I still have his jacket).
I got an apartment that is surprise few blocks from where Peter is staying despite Sam and Bucky trying to change my mind and get me to stick with them and continue staying with Sam. I love them but even if I wanted to after my promotion to assistant chef, I had to move to New York full time and couldn’t slack like I used to because if I lose this job, I will lose my only source of income.
Peter was delighted to see me and I visit him time to time to check up on him, Bucky and Sam still think it is a bad idea to stay alone so far. I was told by my landlord that my neighbor has also moved in a week ago. Good we have something in common.
As I park my car near the building my phone buzzes. Bucky.
“Hey Buck”
“Hey Doll how is shifting going on?”
“It is hardly shifting Bucky I have one box with me I have to buy furniture so my neighbors don’t take me as a squatter.” I chuckled
“You met them?”
“No but I will meet them after I make them my special Chicken Cordon Bleu” I said taking my box out of the car. I think I should have asked Bucky for help because the box is quite big and kind of obstructing my view
“I feel like I am missing out, I could still come and help you doll”
I halted my movement at his words. This is what infuriates me about him. One moment he makes me feel like I am the most important person in his life and the next moment pretends I don’t exist.
“Oh shit” I scrunched my eyebrows when realisation hit me
“What happened Doll?” urgency in his voice
“I can’t make Chicken Cordon Bleu; I don’t know what their eating preferences are. I have to make something that can be eaten whatever their preference will be”
I said as I climbed the stairs leading to my apartment
“Also, I have been meaning to ask you what was Fury talking to you about? It looked quite serious”
“Well according to Fury, a parasite named Venom has been spotted in New York and has wreaked havoc in San Francisco and while I am taking my break I should also look out to any suspicious behaviour and bring him in”
“Are you sure you don’t need my help?”
“No definitely not, from what I have seen I’ll let Fury and his gang handle it I’ll just observe from far and not interact with the species and provide information to Fury. I think its quite easy nothing can go wrong –
I spoke too soon. Even before I could finish my sentence, I collided with someone causing me to lose my balance on my box but before it could slip the stranger took hold it his finger accidently brushing mine.
“I am so sorry I was distracted” I quickly apologised to the man in front of me. He is cute. His hair dishevelled, blue frowning eyes that quickly softened, tattoos on his arms, black leather jacket. He looks like bad news but he is cute.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t looking either” he said nervously chuckling
“I think I should help with that” He said pointing towards my box
“Oh no its just one box I can’t bother you with one box”
“It’s the most I can do given I just broke your bones” We both chuckle at his quip. Yeah, he is a burly man and has the ability to break my bones if I didn’t have superpowers.
“Doll?” Shit, I forgot about Bucky
“Uh, I will call after I get settled” I quickly cut my phone, he will understand.
He quickly took my box and started walking upstairs with me when he stopped again.
“What?”
“I-uh I forgot to ask your flat number”
“Its 313” I giggled. Since when did I giggle like this?
“313? I am in 314.”
“Oh, you are my new neighbour”
“Yeah, I just moved from San Francisco”
“Oh, can I ask why?”
“Its not really a big deal I had my own news show, The Eddie Brock show but thought I needed a change so The Daily Bugle is my change”
We reached my flat as I fished for my keys, I asked him with a dopey smile
“Let me guess you are Eddie Brock”
He chuckled “Good girl, so smart” he quipped as shivers ran down my spine with his words. Gosh what is happening to me.
I opened the door and led him in. The apartment was quite cold and spacious.
“No furniture?”
“Ugh well I just got promoted and lived somewhere not good so this apartment is the change in my life hence fresh furniture” I actually never got to live anywhere. After I was unfrozen by Zemo, I have been in one war after another.
“What do you do?”
“I am working in Hell’s Kitchen just got promoted to Assistant Chef”
“Wow we should celebrate the great changes in our lives…. If you want to of course”
You know what fuck it
“Yeah definitely”
“Cool I’ll meet you on the rooftop the view is beautiful”
“Right now?”
“What better time than now?”
“Ok, I’ll freshen up and meet you upstairs” I can feel the heat on my cheeks for smiling for so long
“Ok, see you soon” he said with a big smile taking his leave
Wow that was unpredictable. I closed my distance with the door to lock it when Eddie peeped his head inside. Our faces were so close I could feel his breath on my cheeks
“Uh- I didn’t catch your name”
“Y/N Y/LN”

So, it's just a funny story for exhausted shippers I have been seeing lately. Honestly, I'd like to buy you all Gatorade and power bars for doing the heavy lifting all these years.. So here's my story to maybe give you hope.
I watched season 1. Fine, it was good. I'm happy to turn on 2. The moment Eddie was introduced to what a man, while Buck stared at him, I literally groaned. My husband asked, "What's wrong" and my only reply was that an army of shippers was just born.
Full disclosure after that, I hated shipping them. I actually anti shipped them because listen, I have seen this story before, and I didn't like the ending.
So begin seasons of my husband looking at me every time they were on screen just to see me roll my eyes. I explained so many times that it's ridiculous how much they are giving shippers who probably won't get a payout. Worst, yet that dick (I love him, mind you) always turned it into a joke. Random times, he would just quip what do you think Eddie and Bucks' wedding will be like? I swear he's an amazing man, don't judge!
So when Anna came along, I was actually relieved. Like this solves my shipping problem. But I disliked her so. Worst, I lost all Buddie and Christopher goodness, so I then regretted my eye rolls.
OK, so then Taylor was back. Maybe this could fix it for me for a few reasons. I yes disliked Anna and Eddie. However, Buck is my favorite, and when she came back, well, I always viewed her a bit like Bucks white whale. (Between you, me, and the igloo, I will also admit.... I always thought Anna made Buck sad). So here is my insecure boy. Shit went down with Albert and the neighbor girl. Eddie was occupied with Anna. So, OK, I can deal with this because yeah, Buck, you won...... But you can guess it..... I hated it!!!
Honest, I wasn't even sold it was gonna happen after the lasagna dinner. I just don't see any way the story doesn't end up Buddie now though.
My main point is this. If you are a bummed anon because you think the showrunners are trying to squash Buddie. Well, they have done a really shitty job if so. Here I am reluctantly waiting after 5 and half seasons..
Hi Nonnie!
LOL I absolutely love this ask, ‘coz trust me, I get it. We’ve all been there, we’ve all seen same sex ships that we knew would never become canon. We all know that even outside the same sex, it’s always a risk, loving a subtextual ship when it comes to the question of whether it would go canon. And that’s the place you were coming from, right? You were anti-shipping them ‘coz you thought they would be terrible together, you were anti-shipping ‘coz you didn’t want to get invested in a couple that you’d never get to see actually going canon. And the fact that Buddie won you over in spite of that says everything about their power as a couple, and as a family unit together with Chris. It’s so heartwarming and beautiful, it’s worth shipping despite the risks. So thank you for sharing your journey! I enjoyed (and laughed) reading about each of the stations along the way, and I’m so glad to know that you joined us! Yep, if the showrunners keep getting everyone to this place, sometimes kicking and screaming against their will, that has to say something!
Thank you so much for this, hope you have an amazing day! As always, here’s my ask tag. xoxox

Predictions for tonight:
I’m keeping my expectations low so this is what I think is most likely, not necessarily what I would personally prefer.
Buck discovers the math skills at work, either at the station or on a call.
Eddie already knows when he takes Buck to the game.
Buck knows they’re going to play poker, but knows nothing else.
Madney’s neighbor is friendly and normal. Reverse of the last time we had neighbor sleuthing. It would be redundant twice.
The husband and wife in a compromising position isn’t a sex call.
Denny’s biological father may die. Or he has to stay in the ICU and his moms bring him in. If he lives they work out a visitation plan…which they said was a thing seasons ago, but sure let’s try it again. Also wouldn’t be shocked if the guy wasn’t his bio dad and was just some guy who lost his son and wanted to make up for it with Denny (no nefarious motives with Denny).
Buck and Eddie are wearing stuff they’ve already had, we’ll get no answers about why.
Eddie inviting Buck to poker will be one line “What are you doing later?” “You play poker?” or an offscreen invite.
The shooting will be brought up.

The 'hungover from the euphoric high all these fun bts give me' reaction dump for my fav wee woo show
It really is incredible how different the vibes around 911 feel this fall versus last fall. They seem so happy and like they're having a blast doing what they're doing and it's so, so nice to see! Plus I'm eating the content UPPPP
Also, by some miracle my fantasy football team won last week and I have exactly zero (0) desire to watch the cowboys so I don't have to have my attention divided 🥰
Don't ask about the Red Sox, they're like Bruno in that we don't talk about them
On with the show!!
Starting out with Bathena - seeing the way Bobby looks at her and I'm just--
Tumblr media
Now how the fuck did he put 2 and 2 together to get the neighbor tunneling under his place to fuck his wife ???
Wait did he place a fucking bomb out there ?!
Holy shit what a psycho
But real talk who the hell digs a tunnel under their yards and through their fucking floors to hook up, like ????
Tumblr media
CAPTAIN HEN, I REPEAT CAPTAIN HEN
Gimme more tagteam Hen-Eddie pls
Also, anyone gonna talk about Eddie's zip tying skills or....
Tumblr media
I really need Bobby to use that line more often lmao
"Do I look like I'm at ease?" girl same
Ok I wasn't onboard with suspicious!Noah, but that line about listening to them has me all sus 🧐
Edmundo get her a pillow bro 😂
Are they really with the popcorn--ohmigod I love them lmao
Hen and her boysssssss
Tumblr media
Hen you are making me so fucking nervous rn
Tumblr media
Henrietta Wilson !!!
Side note ; I'm watching it on a tv antenna and boy did I forget how much fucking political propaganda there was for commercials
Go Bobby, go!
I mean, you're acting like one so
Tumblr media
Julie sighting!!!
Oh, oh fuck my life I just remembered that they lose one of them
It's like a parallel from Mitchell, and once again it's making Buck re-evaluate things
Oh man this fucking sucks
This really fucking sucks they have to choose
911 let me be happy pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
Tumblr media
I knew but it didn't help and I hate it and the music is making it worse nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo he was with his friends and I --
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭ne😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hen losing him as Captain and Buck losing someone he was actively working on is just--pain.
So I had this feeling that one of Athena's parents was involved in the disappearance, and considering this ep is almost over and they're still there, and considering that we know she investigates and there's the shot of an evidence bag at what looked like her parents house...
I think it's safe to theorize that when they finally start renovating/fixing up they're going to find something and that's going to trigger the fallout. Plus the whole "Devil You Know" tagline and like it would be a hella twist. I'd rather it not be that way, because Athena has gone through enough trauma but like, it's also kinda on brand for Fox at this point ?
Unrelated, but why aren't Buck and Eddie sharing a locker anymore? Hello, work husbands ???!
THE SECRET IS LOVING YOURSELF AND LETTING YOURSELF HAVE NICE THINGS
(PSSSTTTT YOUR BFF EDDIE IS A NICE THING9)
Oh Hen, oh no :( that doesn't sound good at all
Aisha is nailing this holy shit
Tumblr media
Why did that sound so ominous ??
HenRen my heart ♥♥♥
JESUS I HATE BEING RIGHT
SOMETHING AINT SITTING RIGHT HERE
IT MAKES NO SENSE AND FOX IS BEING TOO OBVIOUS
BUT LIKE ITS ALSO FOX SO ??????
Kinda think Junior's dad is sus here--maybe something happened and her dad helped cover it up? Or like, there was an incident with Junior (who liked to pick on Athena so maybe it wasn't as innocent as they made it seem) and they covered it up? Or frame? Could it be a frame job?
It just seems odd to intro an old friend for nothing other than discovering the body?
Whatever it is, we get Bonny and Clyde Bobby and Athena, detectives at work again

#1 for 50 wordless ways to say i love you? 💙💚💜
🖤Thank you for the prompt! I hope you like it, friend!
50 Wordless Ways to Say I Love You
#1 : Holding their hands when they are shaking
Eddie takes a deep, calming breath through this nose and exhales out in the span of six counted seconds, all of which Buck spends fidgeting restlessly beside him in the window seat of the plane. Checking the time on his watch, Eddie silently prays for patience at the thought of the six hour flight ahead and reaches out to still Buck’s frantically bobbing knee with a steady hand and gentle pressure.
“Buck,” he starts, voice barely carrying over the hum of conversations happening around them.
“I’m sorry,” the younger man groans, dropping his head back against the seat with such force that it bobbles. “I should have taken the medicine, I just…”
Eddie shakes his head quickly, sliding his hand comfortingly along Buck’s thigh with a slower tempo. “That’s not what I was going to say, but you can’t keep this up for six hours, babe. Do you need Maddie?”
“No,” Buck’s eyes find his, pale blue peppered with green by the way the early morning sunlight brightens the cabin of the plane. Eddie smiles at him, dim but honest, regardless of the tears clinging to his husband’s eyelashes.
“I’ll switch seats with her and sit by Chim if it’s what you need. It won’t hurt my feelings if you say so,” Eddie promises with a gentle squeeze of Buck’s leg pressed against his. “This isn’t easy on either of you.”
Buck blinks at him, a tear plunging down the arch of his cheek making an escape towards his ear with the way his head is tilted against the seat but Eddie catches it with the tip of his thumb.
“I need you.”
“And you have me.”
“It’s not fair,” Buck says, and if Eddie hadn’t had years to get used to the way Buck changes topics he would’ve felt just a bit slighted. Instead, he finds the younger man’s hand with his own, slotting their fingers together with a frown at the way Buck’s fingers shake beneath his.
Eddie traces his free hand across the wave of their knuckles, “What’s not fair?”
“The power this has over me. After… everything. I didn’t think I’d feel…this worried.”
“She’s your mom, Ev. Of course, you’re worried.”
Buck is silent for a long time, finger swiping repeatedly against the black band of Eddie’s wedding ring until he settles on something to say.
“I called Athena last week so she could tell me how to get the spaghetti stains out of Chris’ school uniform,” he whispers and Eddie has to lean sideways just a bit to hear him over somebody complaining about their seat a few rows behind them. Buck scoots in, too, head coming to rest against Eddie’s shoulder while twisting the wedding ring around his finger. “Athena hugged me right before our wedding, Eds and told me how proud she was of me, of us. And Maddie…Maddie walked down the isle with me and…well she raised me, you know.”
Eddie nods because he does know, knows that his husband is molded by patchwork love from various people and when he rests his head atop Buck’s, feels the way the younger man shakes underneath the weight of this moment in time, he can’t help but feel relieved to know that he’s the one that gets to mold all the rest.
“The last time I spoke to my mom she didn’t even ask about Chris or you or me. She called to tell me that their neighbor’s cat was getting in her garden and its name was Moonpie,” Buck mutters with a sniffle hidden in the thick cotton of Eddie’s jacket.
A smile tugs at the corner of his mouth and he hides it in his husband’s loose curls while pressing a kiss there. “I bet she told you that was a ridiculous name for a cat.”
Buck’s laugh shakes them both, a stark contrast to the way his hand still shakes while intertwined with Eddie’s. “Y-yeah. She hates it.”
“We could get a dog and name it Sunbeam,” Eddie says, just so he can feel Buck’s laugh again and not focus on the anger simmering just underneath the surface at the way Buck’s parents continue to hurt him.
“She’s just survived a heart attack, Eds. Let’s not give her another one.”
“Okay, but the next time Chris asks for a dog I’m telling him that I was all for getting one but you talked me out of it,” Eddie teases, enjoying the way Buck tilts his head up enough to glare at him.
“You’re the worst.”
Eddie lifts their hands and drops a silent I love you to the back of Buck’s trembling fingers, lips warm against winter cool skin, and smiles down at the love of his life. “But only for you, baby. Only for you.”

Can you rec buddie fics? Pretty please?
OMG it's my time to shine, bitches!!!
Sorry if I went a little nuts, but this fandom has some of the best writers I've ever seen. I have 186 Buddie fics bookmarked in my AO3,
I'll link here if you are interested in taking a look cause if I put them all here it would be too long. Also, I tried to show here some fics I very rarely see recced, and a little bit o the classics. This fandom has some very underrated authors, everyone in my bookmarks is worth taking a look really.
Please take a look at the warnings before reading, enjoy!!!
I Hate Accidents (Except When We Went From Friends to This) by morganofthefairies (Rated E )
Buck and Eddie had always been unconventional. Neither of them gave it much thought – they were just them. Buck and Eddie - partners, best friends, co-parents – just as entangled in each other’s lives as any actual couple in the 118.
Or, the story of how Buck and Eddie went about their relationship in entirely the wrong order.

Evan "Buck" Buckley has made a name for himself as the independent bad boy of archaeology. At least, until Professor Eddie Diaz shows up with his fedora and good looks and starts beating Buck to the punch more often than not.
Buck hates his stupid six-pack covered guts.
Except for how... he might not.
Objects in the Mirror by SevenSoulmates (Rated E)
The voice had always been around, Eddie remembers it, like a stream of consciousness that babbled incoherently to the point where Eddie just tuned it out.
But then the voice started speaking directly to him. Conversing like he was a whole person standing right in front of him. Like he could see what was happening around Eddie.
Eddie shook his head. No one was talking to him, and Eddie most certainly was not talking back.
He wouldn’t talk to the boy in his head ever again. There was no boy in his head.

Evan Buckley is lost.
It’s happenstance that he wanders into the navy recruiting center—he’s been in San Diego for a few weeks, bartending late nights and weekends, living in a house with three other guys not because he needs the roommates but because he doesn’t want to be alone, and the military is…respectable. Stable. So Buck thinks maybe and opens the door.
Buck leaves ten minutes later with a set of printed instructions for sending his first letter, assured that he can drop it off whenever he’s ready, and a name.

Relationship Advice from Complete Strangers Online by HMSLusitania (Rated T)
Hi, I’ve never made a Reddit post before and I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing but I need advice and can’t ask anyone in my real life. So, I [30M] have this best friend [34M]…
Leading with the Left by letmetellyouaboutmyfeels (Rated E)
When Buck said he was a "bartender" in "South America" what he actually meant was "stripper" in "Mexico."
And when Eddie said, "What's your problem?" what he actually meant was, "Is this about the time you gave me a lap dance?"
In other words, there's a few things the 118 doesn't know about Buck. Or Eddie. Or Buck and Eddie's relationship.
fireflies where my caution should be by littlesnowpea (Rated M)
“You never talk about your parents,” Eddie says, which is not even remotely what Buck expects Eddie to say. He frowns, tilts his head, but it isn’t a question, as evidenced by Eddie charging on. “I never asked because I figured it was your business, but the look on your face any time they’re brought up tells me you don’t get along.”
Buck swallows hard, against a lump in his throat. His parents? Eddie’s right, he never talks about them, for good reason. He opens his mouth, then closes it again, not sure what he’s even going to say.
Eddie takes it as the answer Buck is trying to make it out to be. He squeezes Buck’s wrist again, takes a deep breath, like he’s on a call with someone who’s panicking. Buck finds his breathing slowing to match Eddie’s, and Eddie nods as Buck gets it under control.
“There are people on the porch,” Eddie says, voice even. “Saying they want to meet their grandchild.”

And that makes Eddie frustrated.

When Buck is forced to confront the truth about his breakup with Abby, having casual sex with his hot new coworker seems like the best rebound idea.

“What...what have you done with Buck?” Eddie is going to kill him for messing with his phone. No, that’s too extreme. He’s going to maim him. Just a little.
“Check under H,” Chim offers helpfully, shooting a look over to Hen with a smirk.
Why the hell would he be under—
Then he sees it.

Eddie's new neighbors are keeping him up all night. He calls on his best friend for a little taste of their own medicine.
Cross the Line by Sirencalls (Rated E)
Eddie laughs, short and quiet and almost to himself. “No. If you want to learn, then I’m gonna be the one to teach you.”
Buck is pretty sure his brain stops working. “What? Why?”
Eddie turns to look at him and steps closer, their chests only a few inches apart. “Because there are people out there who will take advantage of how naïve you are. They’ll hurt you, and I won’t.” Eddie’s eyes are so intense that Buck doesn’t have any choice but to believe him. “If you want someone to do this for you, to—to dominate you, it has to be me. I don’t trust anyone else to do it right.”

“Didn’t know you were seeing someone.”
Buck just laughs. Like, honest to god giggles. Eddie is stuck fighting off doubly massive waves of butterflies and confusion, all while Buck just gazes down at him.
“That’s cute,” he hears Buck mumble, just before climbing into the truck, calling Eddie after him.
-or, everyone knows eddie is dating buck except for eddie, literally.

“Damn, I love weddings!” Buck’s face lit up as he closed the door.
If asked later, Eddie wouldn’t have been able to explain what came over him in that moment to make him ask the question. Or, at least, he wouldn’t have wanted to explain. The exhaustion was an easy excuse, but he knew deep down that it wasn’t a real one.

“Why is everybody taking my relationship status so personally? Can’t I be fine with being single?” Buck said.
“Hey, you don’t have to say yes, be sad and alone if that’s what you want,” Josh replied. “But, I’m just saying. I’ve seen photos and this guy is volcanic levels of hot. Also, single dad, super cute kid. Saves lives for a living like you. I think you should give it a go.”

Are you taking kiss prompts??? 🥺 I’m a sucker for eyelid kisses... just the overwhelmingly tender affection forever thanks. For Buddie if you don’t mind? ❤️ I love your writing so, so much!
You can thank @elisela for giving me a much better idea than my brain originally wanted to go with.  Also, wow, I think I gave myself a cavity.  Hope this works for you!
“Buck! Dad needs your help!” Christopher calls as he comes bursting into the house from the yard.
Buck sets down the box of cereal he was about to put away and abandons the rest of the groceries on the kitchen table, tamping down on the flare of panic in his chest—after all, he’s long since learned how dramatic kids can be and knows that Dad needs help could really mean anything from Eddie trying to carry too many things at once to Eddie needing him to call 911. Although, last Buck knew, Eddie was trying to trim back the branches of the neighbor’s orange tree that are hanging over into the yard while Christopher worked on pulling weeds from the flowerbeds, so it’s entirely possible that his husband accidentally sliced off a finger or something.
Before he can ask, the door opens again.
“I’m fine,” Eddie insists, even as he’s pressing the edge of his shirt to his left eye. “It’s just a scratch.”
Buck rolls his eyes and flips on the sink to scrub his hands.
“Sit,” he orders. “I’ll be the judge of that.”
“It’s really fine,” Eddie replies, although he complies readily enough, pulling out the closest chair from the kitchen table. “I turned my head without paying attention and got clipped with the edge of a branch right above my eye.”
“Uh huh.” Buck dries his hands and grabs the medicine kit from under the sink. “Let me see.”
Eddie drops his hand and closes his eyes, tipping his head back so Buck can get a better look. He’s right—it’s just a small scratch right beneath his eyebrow, a thin smear of blood around the edges from where Eddie pressed his shirt to it. Buck doesn’t say anything, just grabs an alcohol swab from the kit and tears it open.
Eddie hisses through his teeth as the swab connects, but he’s smiling so Buck knows he’s exaggerating.
“Big baby,” he teases.
“What’s the verdict, doc? Am I gonna live? Keep the eye?”
“Just for that sass, I should leave out the most important part,” Buck replies. Eddie laughs.
“What’s that?”
Buck sets the used swab aside, grinning as he takes the opportunity to slide into Eddie’s lap.
“Have to kiss it better, of course.”
“Oh, you definitely shouldn’t leave that out,” Eddie says. Buck hums in agreement as he leans in and feathers a kiss over first one eyelid, then the other. He dips his head and almost kisses Eddie properly, but stops just short.
“There,” he whispers. “All good.”
“I don’t know,” Eddie replies, his hand coming up to curve around the back of Buck’s neck. “I think maybe I need a little more help...”
Buck laughs into the kiss. And they don’t come up for air for a while.

Why I Think Albert Doesn't Die in 4B: A Meta Post
Maybe this is me reaching or some really wishful thinking, but i don't think albert is the one who dies, though i think he does get seriously injured (explanation below the cut so hear me out lol)
Based on scenes from 3b, 4a, the 4b promos, and some interviews done after 4x08 about 4x09.
In multiple interviews (one example below ⬇), Tim has stressed that there is going to be a divide between Bobby and Athena because he feels that she's too independent and won't let him in when she has issues. 4b is being set up to build off of last season's attack at the storage unit. Athena has made peace with the attack, so it will take something (encountering the attacker, being trapped while looking for a suspect, a storage unit, or experiencing other trauma) to act as the catalyst to trigger her into needing Bobby's help but refusing to ask. Albert dying will in no way drive or affect this plot line and will only really heavily affect Chimney, Maddie, and Buck and maybe Chris and Eddie.
Tumblr media
Tim did a different interview where he said that multiple characters will be in life or death situations ⬇
Tumblr media
As far as we know from the promo Hen, Buck, Bobby, Athena, May, Eddie, and Chimney are working the crash and Maddie is shown at work going into labor or having false contractions. None are likely contenders for a life or death situation, which leaves the side characters. Since this involves a massive pile-up, and we already know that Albert is in one car, that leaves three others.
The scenario I see best playing out in term of writing and setting up 4b and going into season 5 is this:
Albert gets horribly injured in the crash and has a long recovery. (This plays into 4a when Taylor said Buck was selfish and has no real friends because he doesn't know how to treat a friend.) If Albert gets injured and has a long recovery, he has 2 options for care. He either moves back in with Madney (but they have their hands full with the baby) or he stays with Buck, who has had to recover from a serious injury before. By staying with Buck, he learns how to really care for a friend unselfishly (tho we're gonna ignore the Buddie friendship for a minute bc the writers did). This also gives them the opportunity to set Albert and Buck up in a friendship so Buck can have friends outside the 118.
OR Albert goes into a coma because the writers are playing with a lot of characters right now and I don't think they know what to do with Albert and how to give him enough screen time for anything meaningful to happen. This way, they can revisit his arc in the future. Also, imagine Chimney and Maddie getting ready to take their daughter home and stopping by Albert's room to introduce their baby to her Uncle Albert 😭 Putting Albert in a coma or giving him a long recovery time is something that could be revisited at the end of the season easily.
I think the 3 others in jeopardy are in one car and I think it is Michael, David, and Harry after going to dinner one night or something and I think they are at the center of the crash.
I think the person who dies is Michael or David, mainly because of this interview ⬇
Tumblr media
First, they've brought in David, but like Albert's storyline, they can't fit him in enough for it to really be meaningful. We see them meet towards the end of season 3 and by season 4 they have quarantined together (even though David is on the front lines) and are now living together. Most of their story occurs off screen. The only reason we even saw Michael and David in most of 4a was because it was a storyline attached to Athena and Bobby. Killing off David is less characters to deal with and would affect Bobby and Athena, but not to a degree I would see it driving a wedge in their own relationship. It would affect Michael and encourage him to complete his bucket list he referenced in 4a but it wouldn't have an impact on the whole 118.
Both Bobby and Athena are really close with Michael, though I'm gonna focus on Bobby for a minute. If Michael dies suddenly, that "lighthearted and hilarious" relationship "quickly turns on a dime" and suddenly it "ends up being quite emotional" because Bobby is dealing with losing a friend. This could also dredge up those feelings of having lost his family in a fire and not being able to save them because Michael is now part of Bobby's family. Later in the season, it would be easy to revisit if Harry is mad that his step dad and dad's boyfriend weren't able to save his dad. Bobby would be dealing with his feelings of losing a friend while trying to help Athena (who doesn't want help) deal with the loss of her ex husband.
Shifting the focus to Athena, Michael dying would absolutely devastate Athena. They were married for nearly 2 decades and he is still a close friend and confidante. Losing her ex husband at the site of a crash she responded to would be traumatic. And if you compound that with her unresolved trauma from the attack, now you've got Athena trying to deal with everything on her own and not asking for help. Now Bobby gets mad/sad/distanced because Athena won't ask for help and he needs his own support from her. And maybe she is giving that support but she won't let him reciprocate it and now you have a recipe for anger and unresolved grief that begins to drive them apart.
Focusing on May for a moment, she became an operator because she wanted to make sure Athena was never alone in the field. Though I can't imagine her taking the call for Michael because he is on the line when Albert is injured, her dad dying in a crash she responded to would likely drive her out of the field and into college or another path (1 less character to have around to try to give screen time.)
Michael's death was also foreshadowed in 4a when Athena is concerned he gets the telescope and is spying on neighbors. He talks about having a bucket list that he never got to do because the pandemic forced him into isolation. He also talked about how his only concern during the cancer was preparing his kids for losing him.
Michael's plot is stagnant. He is happy and living with his boyfriend and son. He's cancer free. His whole plot is tied up in a nice bow where they could easily kill him off and the only loose threads to deal with on screen are his family members and friends grieving his loss. This would impact the 118 as a whole.
Honestly, I thought they were going to kill off Michael when he first got cancer and he decided to stop treatments but they bad May talk to him and convince him to go through with the treatments.
Now, by killing off Michael, it is 2 less stories they have to tell, and it is less they'll have to include storylines for Harry as much as they were because he was linked to Michael's storyline. And if they have May decide to leave the field to pursue other dreams or complete her dad's bucket list for him, that is 4 less storylines where they can now focus on the Madney baby, Bathena's relationship, introducing friends for Buck (they mentioned brining back Taylor), focus on ending Eddie/Ana, and establishing Albert as a character (based on a quote from the above article, I think Albert's storyline is going to parallel Buck's 1.0 to 2.0 phase ➡ "If you think about how we ended season 2, Buck being smashed by the firetruck. We knew he was going to survive... I would expect something similar here.")
Referring back to that first article, where it says "Then look for a significant source of agitation for the entire 118."
At this point, Michael would have passed and Bobby and Athena are now having marital problems AKA mom and dad are fighting.
Hen would be stuck in the middle because she is good friends with both Bobby and Athena. She is also facing her own loss of Nia being returned to her birth mom and doesn't have time for their marital problems but still tries to help. She can also pull from her experiences from the season 1 cheating storyline to tell them to communicate or it'll ruin their relationship (yes i too hate that storyline but it would work here)
Buck would likely (nonverbally) side with Bobby, but he sees them both as parental figures, so he gets stuck in the middle like a middle child who is just going with the flow. This would also parallel the Buck Begins storyline where Buck feels caught in the middle after his parents face a loss.
Chimney is raising a baby and (if this theory is right) worrying about Albert in a coma or recovering from a massive injury. He has no time for their marital problems but still lets Bobby confide in him and gives advice (maybe this is just cause i wanna see the bobby/chim friendship we used to get in s1)
Eddie sides with Bobby but he thinks the whole argument is dumb. He can also offer advice to Bobby based on his own experience, but it's going to be something about communication, at which point Bobby will start ripping his hair out because why won't she just tell me her problems and let me help?
Lastly, when have we ever known the show to go ahead and give a major spoiler of the episode 2 weeks in advance? They let us speculate about Daniel for like 8 months and imo it wasn't as big of a deal as they made it out to be. It seems more likely to me that they offered the promo to get the viewers with a twist ending when the show comes back.
Feel free to share your thoughts if you made it this far lol
TL;DR Based on the interviews Tim has done, Albert dying would have little impact on the 118 as a whole, but Michael dying would offer exactly what they need to set up season 5 and finish 4b.

Thinking about what I want most from s5 is for new found family dynamics to emerge and how the blackout could be a great opportunity to see pairings and interactions we don’t see often. I would love to see the blackout hit on everyone’s day off and we get:
Chimney asking Hen and Athena check in on Maddie so she can talk to other moms about her PPD. When the power blows, a neighbor comes knocking on the door because her husband fell and cut his head on some broken glass (she knows one of her neighbors is some kind of paramedic and she just keeps knocking until she find them). Between Maddie and Hen, they are able to actually clean and stitch up the wound. Athena decides they need to open a bottle of wine to celebrate. Chimney comes home to find Maddie finally laughing while Hen tells her embarrassing stories about Chim and Buck in the field. This is how Maddie gets added into the weekly girls wine night.
Maybe while Chimney is out, he goes to clean Maddie’s stuff out of her locker at the dispatch center. He’s there when the blackout hits and ends up triaging some calls and even helps May talk someone through how to set a broken wrist with a homemade splint.
Bobby is out to lunch with the woman he’s sponsoring and ends up running into Karen. When the blackout happens, a car runs a light that has gone out, hops the curb, and smashes right through the window of restaurant. Karen springs right into rescue mode and begins CPR on a bystander before Bobby even has a change to truly assess the situation. He looks at her and she just says “my wife taught me well”
Buck and Albert somehow ended up on childcare duty today and actually have Chris, Denny, Harry and Jee at the loft. Their plan was to just stick the older boys in front of the TV all day, but now the power is out and they have to figure out how to actually entertain them all day. ((There’s no emergency but two men, three teen boys, a baby and 10 collective brain cells seems like enough action for me))
I’ve made my feelings about a Michael/Eddie interaction quite known. Give it to me Tim, please!!!

3.10 (rewatch) spoiler Thoughts
- Omg Buck. He was trying to explain that the store Santa wasn’t the real Santa, not that Santa isn’t real. Bruh. xD - Eddie smiling so fondly at Buck hanging out, spending time with Chris and Denny. - The guy with the golf clubs just reminded me of how I have zero interest in golf. I don’t get it fam. - Buck going in a roundabout saying to Bobby, “You’re like a dad, and I can’t have anything happen to you.” - Bobby handled the whole Micheal being in his and Athena’s bed very well. No unnecessary (and pointless) jealousy or whatever. Other shows would have gone for that. - …….Not sure why they had Maddie say that she can forgive Doug? Without going on a whole tangent, I will simply say that it’s okay to not forgive someone for something. Every person and situation is different of course, but generally speaking, you’re not a bad person if you can’t/won’t forgive someone who wronged you, you know? - Good for Athena and Bobby for having a healthy sex life. - Athena and Buck putting together a Christmas surprise!! 🥺💕🥺🥺💕🥺💕 - Thinking about Michaels tumor storyline, I’m glad they didn’t kill him off. I’m also happy with how they wrapped his story in season 5, since the actor left (because he’s an anti vaxxer 🙄). - In the big group picture, oh looky there, Buck is right by Eddie. Naturally. 👀
(still skipping around episodes)
3.12 (rewatch) spoiler Thoughts
- The Jessie character seriously needs to get new friends ‘cause they suck. They keep putting him in serious danger. Run, dude! - OH. OH I FORGOT THIS BEAUTIFUL DETAIL. Maddie, Chim, Josh and Buck having a poker night, right? There is some joking going on about setting Josh up with Buck. Maddie’s like, “I wouldn’t do that to you Josh.” And Buck is a little indignant, “Uh, hey now??” BUT GUYS. This is just yet another nod to at least hinting that Buck is not 100% straight. I’m sure straights out there would brush this off, but we queer people know! We see!!!! 🔍🏳️‍🌈👀 - The excitement I just felt at hearing Eddie’s voice a second before appearing on screen. 😆 Can you blame me?? - I learned that the actress who plays Ana isn’t even Latina. Which. Why?? She’s I think half black and half Irish or something. The show always does so well with other characters casting, why couldn’t they find someone who is at least half Latina, the way Ryan/Eddie is half Mexican (and half white)???? (also, and I already knew this, but the actress who plays Ana is kinda mediocre). - Eddie had clearly told Buck what happened at the school. Because they’re best friends (re: coparents and husbands) who talk about everything. (well, they don’t actually talk all that much about the people they date later, which…..is something) - Don’t mind me, just loving every Buck and Eddie scene.
truly, me with any Buck and Eddie scene together:

   - That made me laugh, with the detective (Ramero I think) appreciating a nosy neighbor being nosy because she’s helping with the investigation. - Catch me being teary eyed at Eddie talking with Chris about while yes, he’s different and will have some challenges, he should always keep trying. 🥺 Eddie is such a great dad. 🥺🥺🥺 - *squints* Not sure how I feel about Ana’s commentary about falling off horses and stuff…. - The skateboarding scene!! Gold!! 💕 And we all KNOW Eddie and Buck built the altered skateboard together for Chris. 💕💕💕💕
