The bunny and the wolf
Tumblr media
Summary: Aleksander hates everyone except you. You could stay forever.
Warnings: I guess none, just fluff
A/N: it was inspired by this pic
Aleksander was always like a big, bad wolf. Snurling and growling at people who wanted to get close. He pushed everyone away and never let anyone near.
But when he attemped to scare away you, you just beamed at him like a literal sunshine and he immediatly fell in love.
You were like the innocent little Bunny and he was the big, bad wolf. You softened his heart and since then he was soft and gentle with you, hars and cold with everyone else. You were his Bunny and the sight of you made him melt.
Aleksander had been quite cold and stoic when you first met him. He always kept everyone at an arm's length distance, never really letting anyone close.
But it was you who finally broke that cold armour he had around himself. He soon became like a big, protective bear towards you. You were the light that brought out his softer side and made him melt.
No one else had ever seen him that way, they all feared him and his stern demeanour. But to you, he was like a gentle lamb, willing to do anything for you.
"Hi baby" you stepped into his office and hugged him from behind. You wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly. He set his pen down on the desk and put his glass aside. He turned in your hold and wraps his arms around you, pulling you closer.
"Hello, my Bunny" Aleks whispered.
"How's it going? You seemed stressed this moring when you left our bed" you nuzzled closer and he literally saw you as a little Bunny feeling comfortable.
"I'm better now" he said with a smile as he leanes down and whispers into your ear, "My Bunny is here with me."
He nuzzled your ear with his lips and ran his hands through your hair. "You have no idea how much I missed you today."
"I missed you too lovely"
Lovely. You called him lovely, when he was anything but lovely. His heart skipped a beat. He was so used to being feared and respected, he had never been called something so sweet yet intimate before, but it just felt right.
"I have some good news for you, Bunny" he whispers softly.
"Yeaahh? Tell me" you whispered sweetly. He didn't understand how someone so precious like you could be with someone cursed and bad like him. But you were there and he didn't plan on letting you go.
"I want to hold you in my arms forever" he says softly as he ran his fingers through your hair. He pulled you close, bringing his lips to your ear. "I want to spend my life with you, my Bunny. I will be yours, my love" he said in a passionate whisper.
He stared deeply into your eyes as he held your face in his hands, "I would die for you."
"I love you Aleks" you beamed at him. Your softness made an effect on him like nothing else. You didn't guite catch on that he was proposing to you, but he was willing to try again.
He smiled warmly as he held you close. "I love you too, my Bunny."
He looked you deeply in the eyes as he cupped your face in his hands. He stared at you for a long moment before he whispered softly, "I want to marry you. Will you be my wife?"
Aleks was the type of person everyone feared, but with you he was soft and gentle. You have tamed the big, bad wolf.
You froze a bit then your knees buckled a little and started crying in joy.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes" you hugged him closer and started kissing his face everywhere you could reach.
He kissed you passionately as he held you tightly in his arms. He was never the type of person to show much emotion, but with you, he was like a completely different person.
"I love you so much. You're the person I want to spend my life with. I knew you were the one right from the first moment we met"
He nuzzles at your neck with his lips again, "I can't wait to be with you forever"

Insomnia
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x Heartrender! Reader
Summary: When you wake up in the middle of the night to find Aleksander still wide awake, you offer to help him fall asleep
Warnings: Fluff, probably inaccurate use of heartrender powers but I thought it was a cool concept
A/N: I wrote this in one go and did very little proofreading so I apologize for any mistakes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you wake, the room is still dark, shadows stretching long and distorting the shapes of all the objects in your room. You reach out for Aleksander only to realize he’s not there, the sheets cold in his absence. You sigh and roll over, laying with your eyes closed for awhile before sitting up and swinging your legs over the edge of the bed. You slip your now chilly feet into your slippers but don’t bother putting on your robe, quietly making your way through the darkness toward the faint light coming from the doorway.
You follow the steady sound of his heartbeat and find he’s exactly where you’d left him five hours ago, hunched over his desk with papers strewn about around him. Even from across the room, you can see the tension in his shoulders, hear the frustration in his breath and heart rate. You come closer and he turns at the sound of your footsteps, that line between his brows softening at the sight of you.
You round the side of his chair and he’s already holding his arms out to you, helping you settle wordlessly onto his lap. You rest your forehead against his shoulder and let him trail his fingertips up and down your spine with one hand, the other set steady on the small of your back. You sit there in silence for a few minutes, feeling him relax beneath you, until you finally decide to break it.
“You didn’t come to sleep.” It’s not a question. You would have woken up — if only briefly —had he come to bed for even an hour. He presses a few apologetic kisses to your shoulder.
“I wouldn’t have been able to sleep if I tried, moya lyubov.” He sighs and you pull away, taking his face in your hands. You notice the dark circles under his eyes and frown, brushing your thumbs over the delicate skin there. His eyes flutter shut, the only thing keeping his head from falling backwards being the back of the chair.
“I can help with that, you know.” He opens his eyes and looks at you apprehensively.
“I’ve seen Fedyor and Ivan put people to sleep before and it doesn’t exactly look like a very pleasant experience.” He chuckles and you laugh a little with him.
“There’s more than one way to put people to sleep, Sasha.” He smiles at you, eyes sparkling with mischief and you swat at his chest gently, “Not like that.”
He laughs at the bemused expression on your face before resting his forehead against yours, “Tell me, then. How else can you put someone to sleep.”
“Come to bed. I don’t want to have to drag to there unconscious.” He chuckles again and presses his lips to yours briefly.
“Fine,” he mumbles against your lips, stealing another kiss from you before pulling back and tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, “You win.”
“As always.” You grin, lifting yourself off his lap and leading him towards your shared bedroom.
When you get there, you settle yourself under the blankets while he undresses, finally climbing into bed with you when he’s finished. You let him get comfortable, laying on his side facing you with an arm draped over your waist. You place the tips of your ring and middle fingers gently over his temples, his face cradled between your palms. One thing that’s never failed to amaze him is how soft you are with him. You’re a fierce warrior, of course, but when the situation called for it, you could be so, unbelievably gentle.
You notice him staring at you and smile bashfully, “What?”
“You’re so wonderful.” He whispers, smiling at you lovingly. You wonder for a moment if the lack of sleep has finally made him delirious.
“Thank you.” You press your lips to his forehead briefly before pulling back to smile at him, “Now shush.”
He apologizes through a soft chuckle. The silence that follows lasts all of five seconds before he breaks it again, “Tell me what you’re doing.”
“I’m not sure you’ll be awake long enough to hear it all,” you brush your fingers through the hair closest to his ears, “Besides, it’s really quite boring.”
“You can explain it to me properly in the morning,” he states, smoothing his hand up your spine, “I enjoy listening to your voice.”
Your heart swells so much it leaves very little room for your voice, your reply coming short and soft, “Okay.”
You return your hands to their original positions by his temples and focus on his brain, sensing every synapse that fires as it sends commands throughout his body without him even realizing, “Traditionally, heartrenders lower a person’s heart rate and restrict the blood flow to their brain to put them to sleep,” Aleksander watches you intently, concentration clear on your face, “You already know that, of course.”
“Of course.” He smiles, and you can’t help but smile back.
“But there’s another way to put someone to sleep, one that looks and feels a lot more natural,” You continue feel for what you’re looking for and eventually you find it, “There’s a part of the brain that releases a certain chemical to tell your body that it’s tired. So, if I do this,” You use your small science to stimulate that very part of his brain, making it do exactly as you had explained as you lower your voice, “and lower your heart rate just a little,” He feels his heart rate slow the slightest bit, enough to calm him but not nearly enough to be alarming, “You should fall asleep within the next few minutes.”
Just as Aleksander begins to wonder how long it will take for him to feel the effects, his eyelids grow heavy and fog clouds his mind. He feels your hands slip from his face and he pulls you closer, burying his nose in your hair.
“Thank you, milaya.” His words are soft and muddled with sleep already, and you smile at your victory. He presses his lips to the top of your head once before settling chin over top of it and mumbling, “I love you.”
Your heart flutters at his admission despite the fact that he’s said it a million times before. You smile and nuzzle a little deeper into his embrace, hearing his breathing even out as he finally falls into a much needed rest, “I love you too, Sasha.”

Headcannon: Aleksander likes to join you in the bath when you've had a rough day, gently washing your skin and hair, massaging the tension out of your neck and shoulders
Feel better my love, you're always sunshine on my dash ☀️❤️
Ohhhh yes please wow
I can picture a huge bath full of bubbles and sweet smelling soaps, the entire bathroom fogged up with steam from the heat, and when you step inside it’s a little oasis from the rest of the world.
Aleksander won’t have you lifting a finger, he’s collecting fluffy towels for when you’ve finished and ensuring that all the products you need will be within arms reach.
Then the two of you are settling into the tub together, with Aleksander’s arms around you, smoothing over your skin carefully, encouraging you to relax. A soft, gentle murmur of, “There we go,” as the tension melts from your aching body. Kisses pressed along your neck and the curve of your shoulder.
You talk about anything and everything together, until the water begins to chill and the bubbles have dissolved.
Thank you for your kind words 🥰

Alina sighed as herself and Mal walked into a busy club to get away from their pursuers.
“It should be too crowded to notice us in this crowd, just keep the hood on.” Mal whispered to Alina as they moved closer to the stage where others stood, waiting for the performer.
“Want something?”
Alina turned and nodded as Mal gave a quick nod before walking to the bartender.
As alina went to stand near a corner of the crowded club she bumped into another young girl. “Aww, sorry..” “Ah, i’m sorry.”  They both apologized to one another.
“It’s alright, just a throbbing but it’ll go away with a drink.” The girl brushed it off and gave alina a smile.
“You look familiar..” Alina felt her heart drop, as the expression the girl made was of realization. “You’re her aren’t you?” Alina tensed up and lifted her hand in case she need to summon to stop the girl from doing something.
“It’s alright, your safe here, i just recommend the further booth over there if you don’t want to draw attention..” Alina followed the girls direction and saw an empty booth and nodded at her. “Thank you..?” She waited for a name.
“Y/n, i’m a performer here tonight.” She smiled and pointed towards the stage were drunks and many excited people stood waiting.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
People whispered to one another as they noticed the brooding, darkling who was accompanied with other grisha, they all had looks of distaste on their faces as they scanned the club.
Alesksander’s attention jumped as two women in front of him talked about the performer.
“Is it true she can summon?”
“Rumors say she can but was sick during her testing and got dismissed.”
Before any of them could provide aleksander with information, a young woman, dressed in a loose blouse and what looked like the first army pants.
“Based on all the chatter I could hear from back there, I assume it’s about myself?” You grinned as you scanned the crowd.
A mixed of positive responses came from the busy club.
Aleksander noticed how each of his grisha searched the crowd.
“Aww stop it, i’m blushing!” You playfully waved to the crowd before turning to the band who waited for your sign to play.
As the band started up, you danced around the stage a bit.
“So if you don’t know, i wrote this many, many, many years ago when i was stuck as a showstopper for tow men on each side of the fold, one more then the other..” You referenced to your pants before raising an eyebrow.
Aleksander wasn’t surprised, zlatan of course wouldn’t share a summoner with anyone, especially the king and aleksander.
“Can’t take my charm,
Can’t take my humor,
Can’t take my wealth, cause it’s just a rumor.
Nothing you can take was ever with keeping.
No nothing you can take was every worthing keeping.”
As alina listened to your singing she glanced around the room and froze as she spotted aleksander and the other grisha in the club.
Alina subtly nudged mal who popped up and ushered alina through the crowd to leave quickly.
As you took a breath, you felt yourself stop for a moment, as you took note of the dark eyes of the darkling.
“Thinking you’re so fine,
Thinking you could have mine.
Thinking in control, thinking you can change me, maybe rearrange me.
Think again if that’s your goal.”
You stomped your boots at each sentence, making the crowd cheer.
Through the small break of your singing, you held strong eye contact with the darkling, from what zlatan had told you, he was saving you from the general who had “tossed your abilities aside” those were the only words you believed from the first general, you had tried to get test when you were a teen but got reject when you said you could summon.
“Can’t take my sass,
Can’t take my talking.
You can kiss my ass,
Then keep on walking!
Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping,
Oh, nothing you can take was ever worth keeping.” You stared him down while continuing to sing.
Zoya scoffed as she followed your and aleksander’s gaze to one another.
Aleksander looked away from you to look at the sour expression on her face.
“She’s insulting you to your face..”
“I know..” He responded, his eyes moving back onto you which your eyes were closed as you finished the song.
“Nothing you can take from is worth dirt,
Take it cause i’d give it free, it won’t hurt.
Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping..”
As you finished the crowd cheered making you grin and gave a bow before walking to your bandmate and motioned for behind the stage before exiting, they band continued to play as you left.
Aleksander hadn’t noticed zoya rambling on how disrespectful you were, he piped up as you left the stage. “I’ll be back.” He told zoya before walking outside the club.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You quietly exited from the building and leaned against the building.
You were now screwed, after many blissful years away from zlatan and kirigan it had to come crashing down.
Being upset you got up and kicked the tins in the back alley of the club.
“That was quite the show..” You jumped at the general’s voice.
“General kirigan..” You greeted, walking to pick up the fallen over tins.
“You worked under zlatan?” He questioned, making you chuckle.
“What made it obvious? My clothes or the song?” You asked, putting the lid back on before turning to his figure.
“He rarely sent letters to the palace grounds to let us know of anything.”
You scoffed, knowing where he was trying to lead the conversation.
“Bullshit, don’t play like you never knew about me, I stood in front of grisha testers and was denied a retest because of my ability, each test is shown in front of you, in your lap to see the newest grisha!” You walked closer to him as you went on.
“Nice try to play that card but the only words I ever believed from zlatan was that you tossed me aside.” You brushed past the darkling and went to enter the club again but was stopped by him grabbing your wrist in a tight grasp and pulling you back to face him.
“You could train in the little palace with others, be with your own kind.” He tried to convince you.
“You missed that train where I wanted to fit in with others badly, I will not be trained to replace your little sun summoner.” You ripped your wrist form his grasp and walked back into the club.
Aleksander stood by himself in the alley, shocked you had decline his offer.
After he collected himself he walked into the club to collect his grisha.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Weeks had passed since the incident at the club.
Aleksander hadn’t been expecting a meeting with the king, he was confused at the sudden arrangement.
“Tsar.” Aleksander greeted as he entered his war room.
“General.” King Pyotr greeted, letting aleksander step in further before continuing.
“Is there a reason you called upon me?” Aleksander questioned.
“When you were visiting ryevost, did you happened to see this girl?” The king unfolded a drawing of the singer he had a conversation with weeks ago.
“She’s rumored to be a moon summoner, if anything, everyone’s after her. And i believe she’ll do good here in the little palace under your control.” He continued, aleksander studied the poster.
“I’ll send grisha to find her…” The king smiled and nodded in aleksander’s direction before getting up and leaving.
Once gone, aleksander picked up the paper to admire your beauty.
“I’ll find you, songbird..” He muttered as he read over the paper.

I Will Tell You Who You Are
When Nikolai is infected with Merzost, the only one who can comfort him is his queen.
Tumblr media
You were sprinting down the hall.
You could hear him, screaming, screaming your name as you made your way to his rooms. The guard outside merely stepped in your path, a troubled look on his face. You couldn’t catch your breath; you felt like you’d vomit as you heard Nikolai’s scream of pain, his voice catching on a sob.
“Open the door.” You gasped, feeling desperate. “Open the fucking door.”
“I—I cannot, Your Majesty. The King has requested no one—”
“I am his wife. If I wish to enter I will.” Nikolai’s sob split the air around you and you almost threw the guard to the floor. “Move or so help me God, I’ll kill you myself.”
The guard’s throat bobbed.
Your husband was barely around anymore. You’d been traumatized at the coronation and were desperate for his attention. And yes, while he saw you in the day, he didn’t feel fully with you anymore. He hadn’t shared a bed in almost a month, and you couldn’t take it.
That’s when you’d heard his scream.
“Move.” You commanded, voice shaking, and the guard slowly stepped to the side.
You almost ripped the handle as you shoved the door open, a shriek leaving your lips at the sight in front of you. Nikolai was chained—chained—to his bed, black tendrils of dark power wrapping around him. He was trembling, sweat beading on his brow as the power seemed to dull.
“Y/N,” he was shaking. Shaking. “you can’t be here.”
“What is happening to you?” Your voice broke as you moved forward, trying to ignore his flinch at your approach.
“It’s in—inside me.” He panted, shaking his head. “Don’t come near me, Y/N. Please. It’s fighting—” he bent double, back bowing towards his knees as a cry of pain left him, every muscle tensing. Nikolai sobbed, gritting his teeth, and you saw that the clenched fingers of his hands were tinged with black.
“My love what—”
“Go!” He shouted, yanking at his own chains as he panted through clenched teeth. “Go, Y/N, I never wanted you to see—”
“Nik.” You choked on a gasp of pain and dropped to your knees in front of him, grabbing his face. He shook his head wildly, eyes wet and squeezed shut as he fought your grip. “Nikolai it’s me. It’s me.”
“No, no, no.” He shook, still attempting to scramble away as you held him fast. “Don’t touch me. You have to leave.”
“I love you, Nik. Please, please let me help you.”
“I’m insane.” He sobbed, the black slowly vanishing as he collapsed roughly into your chest, his locked muscles releasing. His hands strained painfully against the restraints, but they were the only things holding him up. “I have lost my mind, Y/N. I cannot live in this way. I am dangerous to you you need to leave—”
“I will not leave you.” You fought, running your hand across his sweaty brow, forcing those gorgeous eyes of his to meet your own as you gripped his chin. “I am not weak. Am I weak, Nikolai?”
He swallowed.
“No.”
“And have I ever left you?”
His eyes shuttered.
“No.” Nikolai’s face crumpled as he shook, dropping his head against your shoulder as you held him. He was gasping for breath, shaking his head lightly back and forth, muttering to himself. “Get it out of me.” He whispered, and your heart cleaved inside your chest. “Get it out. Get it out. Get it out.” He yanked at his chains and let out a scream of anger and pain, shaking in your desperate hold as tears ran hot and fast down your face.
“I am here. I am here.” Your hands gripped his hair, your body pressing him to your own, feeling your nightgown soak as he cried out of frustration.
“I cannot control it.” He wept, wrists raw from struggling as he attempted to calm himself. “I cannot control my own body—my own mind. I will hurt you. Do not allow the one thing I love left to be lost. If I hurt you—” he sucked in a breath and you gripped his head again, pulling his tear stained face off your shoulder to peer up at your own.
“If you cannot control it,” you said, voice trembling as you stared down at the raw blue gaze of your King. “then I will be your control. I will be your anchor.” You wrapped your arms around him, mouth wobbling as you kissed his head. “I will be your tether to this Earth. I will ease your suffering, Nikolai.”
“Please.” He whispered, but was pressing as close to you as he could get. “Please do not leave me alone tonight. Please.”
“I will never leave you alone.” You promised, and when he had calmed enough to attempt to sleep, the clasps still around his wrists, you curled up on the couch, your mind racing and your heart heavy.
short and to the point and very much inspired by bridgerton because it just makes sense

Reassurances
Summary: You nearly die, and the Darkling gets upset.
w/c: 1880+
Pairing: Darkling x female!tidemaker!reader
Warnings: Self-hatred, never being enough, mentions of death and injuries
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You’d come to Ravka of your own free will.
Not as a refugee Grisha. Technically.
You had run away though. Away from an abusive home, where you were constantly told that you were not enough. Never would be.
And the Little Palace was perfect.
“Snap out of your daydreams about the General, Y/N. We’re ready.”
Your eyes grew wide, as you spun around, finding Zoya smirking at you. And not far behind was the General himself, watching with an amused yet bewildered look on his face. You gave him a sheepish smile before following Zoya to the middle of the ship. “For your information, I wasn’t thinking about him,” you seethed. “No,” she said, signaling to an Inferni, “but you were getting there,” she said, turning back to you. You mock her, causing her to smirk, before getting to your station.
“Remember,” Kirigan started, turning to face all of you, “We just want to test this method. That’s all we’re going in for.”
You didn’t miss the whispers that sounded from all around you.
“Why did he choose her?”
“She’s so new.”
“We’re all going to die.”
“There are so many more experienced Tidemakers, her power won’t be enough.”
You shut your eyes, trying to drown them out when you felt a hand on your shoulder. Your eyes fluttered open to find Zoya in front of you. “Kirigan wants to know if this is too much for you,” she said, worry evident in her eyes. Your eyes flickered to Kirigan, watching his eyes on yours, a blank expression on his face.
He thinks you can’t do it. That you’re too weak.
You shook your head, “I can do it.”
Zoya nodded, before turning around and repeating the action to the General, but his eyes never left yours.
You cleared your throat, focusing on the Fold in front of you, as the ship lurched forward.
People were yelling instructions all over the ship as you tried to focus on the task at hand.
“Once we’ve entered, you’ll create a dome of water around the ship. An Inferni will start a fire, which hopefully, thanks to your dome, will be refracted in multiple directions, throwing the Volcra off,” Kirigan told you.
“You think I can do it? Wouldn’t someone else be better fit for the job?”
“I do. But I don’t want you to do it, unless you think you can.”
Your eyes flickered to Kirigan again, who was now facing the Fold.
Truth be told, you didn’t think you could do it. You felt absolutely worthless, and everyone’s whispers weren’t helping.
Yes, the Little Palace was perfect. Everyone was nice. But you couldn’t handle the stares that you received ever since it’d been announced that you’d be handling this. No one knew your past. No one knew how it’d affected you.
All they saw was the instant liking that Kirigan took to you. The way you’d sometimes spend entire days alone while other days you’d be like a ball of sunshine. It made no sense to most, but then again, everyone had their own trauma to handle.
Your hands trembled as you counted the seconds you’d spent inside the fold. Your eyes were on Kirigan, waiting for his signal.
And it couldn’t have come sooner.
He looked back to you, nodding briefly.
You focused on your hands, imagining water flowing through them, as you waved them in the air in a dome like shape, watching as water followed your motions. You kept your hands up, thinning out the layer of water, keeping it steady and from falling all over everyone on the ship.
You caught Zoya looking at you from the corner of your eye, nodding to you before signaling to the Inferni. Your eyes landed on Kirigan, who gave you a brief nod, eyes shining with an expression you’d never seen anyone look at you with before.
The Inferni got a good fire going, and as Kirigan had said, the light refracted beautifully.
It couldn’t destroy the Fold. But it’d be easier to get across.
Just as you thought this would actually work, the first Volcra attacked.
You struggled to keep the water barrier up as it pounded again and again through it.
Panic built in your chest as more appeared, clearly understanding the trick you’d played.
Everyone started rushing about preparing for a fight.
“Don’t you dare let go!” someone yelled at you, “If you do, we're all dead!”
Your hands trembled.
They were right. You weren’t enough. You never would be.
As the negative thoughts swirled in your mind, you felt yourself lose control of the water dome, and it came crashing down on the boat.
Your breath became unsteady as you failed to process what was going on through all of the screaming. Volcra were all over, snatching people, throwing them overboard. The piercing shrieks of everyone around you sent a searing pain rippling through your head.
Or maybe it was the sharp object that had pierced through your left shoulder.
A blood curdling scream ripped through your throat as you felt yourself being lifted off the ground.
Your vision blurred as fear and pain surged through you.
The next thing you knew you were falling in the dark, before everything went quiet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recuperation was a foreign concept to you. In your house, it’d always been that way. The second you can think, talk, walk and move at least one arm, you had to get back to your normal schedule.
So that’s what you did.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, more disgusted at yourself than you had been before the accident.
That’s what everyone called it now anyways.  Your left hand was in a sling. The healers did their best, but since it was a wound caused by a Volcra, it wasn’t healed completely. You ran your right hand over the black streaks across your shoulder, as they branched out all over your arms.
They would never go away.
There were different versions to the story. But, the most common one was that Kirigan had ordered one of the Inferni to kill the Volcra, and he caught you as you fell. And everyone who had told you this, had also added their comment about how you weren’t ready yet, and that Kirigan had made a mistake.
Of course it wasn’t hatred then. Only those who had been on the ship despised you for getting the others killed. No, everyone else had answered you with pity. Because that was the emotion shown to the weak.
You sighed, slipping on a coat over your tank top, wincing slightly at the way it sat on your shoulder.
The door opened, startling you out of your angry gaze on yourself.
“You shouldn’t be up yet,” Genya said, coming to stand behind you, her gaze soft.
“I have to train,” you said, turning around to face her.
“Y/N-”
“I messed up. I messed up and I can’t do that again.”
“You can’t summon without both your hands,” she said, gently as if speaking any louder would break you.
“I’ll train in hand - to - hand combat ‘till then,” you replied, moving to walk past her.
“Y/N, you need rest.”
“I’m fine,” you said, slamming the door behind you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were not fine.
Your right hand wouldn’t work like it usually did, and the fake sword in your hand felt heavier than usual. You cursed out as the sword fell from your hand a third time, Zoya watching. “You need to stop this foolishness,” she said, a stern look on her face.
“You should go mind the others,” you muttered, annoyed, eyeing her as you picked up the sword.
“The others aren’t ignoring their injuries,” she bit back.
She watched you try to swing it around once more, before standing in attention abruptly, her eyes landing on something behind you.
“What is the meaning of this?”
Someone behind you.
You dropped the sword, spinning around to find Kirigan behind you, an angry look on his face.
Zoya cleared her throat, “Sir-”
“I didn’t ask you,” he said, dark eyes fixated on you.
“I can’t summon yet sir. So I thought I would try hand-to-hand combat first,” you replied feeling terrible. You were so upset with yourself. 2 weeks should have been enough. You were only proving what everyone was saying.
“Follow me,” he ordered, walking away. You looked back to Zoya, shocked, but she only nodded you on.
You ran after him hurriedly, worried about what was going to happen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kirigan had brought you to his office and had been absolutely quite ever since.
He was sitting on the edge of his table, pinching the bridge of his nose with his hand.
“Gener-”
“Call me Aleksander,” he says, finally looking up to meet your gaze.
You feel your cheeks heat up as you nod quickly. He got up, walking over to you, stopping just in front.
“I know why you push yourself so much,” he whispered, his gaze never leaving your eyes as he took your hands in his.
You stood there dumbfounded, waiting for him to explain. He tilted his head to the side, running his thumb over your knuckles. “The first day that you came here, you were so hurt, you were blabbering in your sleep. You kept asking your parents to stop. And right before I had asked Genya to put you to sleep, you muttered that you’d never be good enough,” he revealed.
You felt your eyes start to water, and you looked down at your joined hands, feeling embarrassed and scared. One of Aleksander’s hands left yours, reaching up to your chin instead, and gently tilting your face upwards. “I wasn’t enough that day either. You trusted me and- and I failed. The Volcra should’ve taken me, I deserve that punishment,” you cried, closing your eyes. “Y/N, look at me. Open those pretty of yours….please,” he whispered.
You did, surprised by the soft, caring look he was giving you. “If the Volcra had done something to you, I would have never been able to forgive myself. Because you are more than just a Grisha to me. You are my better half to say the least. Moreover, you are enough. You are my equal. Your parents were blind. I gave you that job because I knew you could do it. No one else compares to you. In any way. And you will be the one to handle it. Once you are completely healed that is,” he said, smiling softly. He dropped your other hand as well, gently wiping the tears from your face.
You couldn’t help the surge of emotion that ran through you as a smile crept up your face. His hands were now cupping your face, as he leaned in, pausing just before his lips landed on yours. “May I?” he whispered, his breath mixing with yours. You nodded, your stomach knotting up.
His lips landed on yours finally, merging both of you together as one. Goosebumps erupted all over your skin as his hands dropped to your waist, pulling you even closer to him. For the first time in your life, you felt…
…wanted.
He pulled away gently, his eyes bright.
“Promise me you will rest?” he asked.
“If you’ll stay with me as long as you can,” you said sheepishly.
“Of course, my little tide,” he grinned.

He found love
Tumblr media
Summary: Aleksander finally understands what true love is.
Warnings: None I think, just tooth-rotting fluff
A/N: I know I disappeared for a long time, but there's a lot going on. I'm trying to make all the request. I love all❤️
Aleksander and the sun summoner -Alina- were the most loved couple in Ravka. Everyone talked about how cute and strong their love is.
It was until Aleksander met you. You; the dragon queen. You were able to communicate, tame and control the dragons all over the known world.
The first time Aleks saw you, you were training with your dragon. He was absolutely enchanted from then on.
When most people meet someone they are instantly attracted to, their heart races and their palms sweat and their brain turns to mush.
But not the Darkling.
He noticed all of these things and more, but kept his demeanor calm and unruffled. His face was a mask of composure, his breathing slow and steady.
Only one part didn't follow suit, one part that the Darkling's powers and will could not control. His heart was beating so loud he was afraid everyone could hear it, despite the fact that he stood perfectly still.
"Ohh Good afternoon General" you beamed like a sunshine. He couldn't wrap his brain around how someone so powerful could be so kind and pure at the same time. He thought already met the sun, but it wasn't like that all. No, you weren't like that. You were like the brightest star he has ever seen. Full of light on the night sky.
"Hello" he said, as if he could say anything other than that, not taking his eyes off your face for a second.
The way you talked was so genuine, there was nothing artificial, nothing put on. Your voice was like music to his ears, and seeing a smile cross your face was like seeing the sun rise after a cold, dark night.
He could already feel his control slipping, and yet something made him want to hold on, even if only for a moment.
"How are you today?" you asked, smiling.
"I am well" he said, his voice soft and gentle, "What brings you here?"
There was something different about how he spoke with you, something he wasn't even aware of himself. Normally he spoke with such authority and command, like a general issuing orders. But with you his voice was... softer. You saw something flicker in his eyes as he looked at you, some inner struggle that he was fighting. It was almost as if he wasn't as sure of himself, as he always was.
"Ohh just training with Firefly" you pointed at the young dragon which was jumping around the field like the baby he was.
"He needs to learn a bit" you explained.
He felt a smile spread across his face as he watched the dragon. It was a warm, genuine smile, which faded just as quickly as it arrived. He cleared his throat, trying to keep his composure, as he asked.
"Do you need any assistance?"
Suddenly a thought crossed his mind. He could help train your dragon. A simple task, but one he felt he could do. Maybe then you would smile that warm, genuine smile again.
"Well if you want to?" you shrugged. "It'd be good to have company" with a smile, you turned back to Firefly. He could feel his face heat up, and yet for some reason he felt the need to accept your invitation.
"Yes, I would love to join you" his voice was still soft and gentle, and he watched you with a curious expression on his face as he went to your side.
"Good" you grinned. "Here.." you handed him a fish. "I know it's gross, but I'll show you what to do with it" you explained.
You grabbed an other fish from the whistled to Firefly.
"Okay...Firefly! Sit!" you commanded to the dragon. Your voice and the way you told the creature what to do made Aleks's heart race.
He was already in awe of you for being able to command an entire dragon, but the way you did it was like magic. The dragon seemed to listen to you instinctively without any resistance at all.
Once you gave the command he watched as the dragon sat down with a low grumble. And yet you seemed completely unfazed by the dragons size and potential danger. To you it was just... a dragon. Seeing you command a dragon like that made his admiration for you grow even more, if that was even possible.
"Now give him the fish as a reward" you smiled at Aleks. He took the fish from your hand, and the dragon looked up at him instantly. Even if it was just a dragon to you, to him it was still a large, powerful beast. Yet it almost seemed to show some signs of shyness as it looked at him.
As he held the fish out the dragon came closer and began eating it, almost like a dog. He felt a smile spread across his face as he watched, there was something about this moment that made him feel... happy.
"How was it? Isn't it amazing?" you asked excitedly.
"It's incredible," he said as the dragon finished the fish, "To be able to control such a beast, I have never seen anything like it."
He looked at you with a feeling of wonder and amazement, his admiration for your powers growing even more.
However, even as he watched the magic you wielded, something else was catching his eyes. How you looked at the dragon and spoke to it almost like it was a human, with love and compassion. This was something else entirely. It moved something within him.
He knew deep down that he was still with Alina and he loved her. He loved her until that moment with you. When you talked so passionatly about the things you loved he felt like he fell more and more in love with you. Aleks forget about Alina and their relationship. All he knew was you.
He hadn't even noticed that he had moved closer to you, until your arms brushed against each other and your voices grew softer.
He felt the hair stand up on the back of his neck, and his breath caught in his throat.
The feeling of being near you was like a drug, intoxicating him, and suddenly he didn't even remember what he was doing or why he was here. He was so focused on you.
You were his entire focus now.
"Hi" you smiled when he got so close to you that your chest touched. It felt like time moved in slow motion as your chests touched, and suddenly everything stopped.
He felt so many emotions in that moment, fear, joy, confusion, arousal. His heart raced, and yet for some reason he didn't pull away, not now, not ever. He finally said with a voice so soft you could barely hear it,
"Hi, Angel" when his lips gently brushed yours, you made a confident move and pressed your lips hard to his.
And that was the moment he knew; He found true love. He found you.

Strange Love Pt.6
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x Fem! Healer! Reader
Summary: You and Aleksander devise a plan to get you out of the palace and begin a journey to Duva with Fedyor and Ivan.
Warnings: None
A/N: I am so sorry this took so long to write! A lot has been going on so I haven't had a lot of motivation to write anything lately.
Word Count: 2k
Part 5 < current > Part 7 (coming soon)
Tumblr media
The harsh cold of the winter air bites at your face and freezes your lungs as you sprint through unfamiliar woods, a group of first army soldiers hot on your heels. No matter how fast you attempt to run, you can hear their footsteps grow steadily closer as you weave through the trees. In the back of your mind, there’s a part of you that wonders where exactly you are, how in the hell you wound up here, but your main priority is focusing on escaping.
A root catches the toe of your boot and you’re sent sprawling painfully onto the ground, the snow and ice stinging your palms and numbing your fingers. You attempt to scramble to your feet, but your body refuses to cooperate. By the time you’ve made it onto your knees, someone grabs your shoulder and wrenches you around onto your back.
You startle awake with a sound that’s something between a whimper and a shout just as a sword comes down on you. With a sigh, you push yourself up to sit against the headboard, palms pressing against your eyes until bright splotches dance against the darkness of your eyelids. It was just a nightmare, you know that, but it was so vivid that there’s some small, irrational part of you that wonders if perhaps it may have been something more.
You startle when you hear someone call your name but relax when you find Aleksander standing in the doorway. He’s discarded his kefta, leaving him in a fitted black shirt with matching trousers.
“Are you alright?” He asks slowly as he comes to sit on the edge of the bed in front of you.
You blink once and nod, “I’m okay.” When you look a little closer, you spot the dark circles under his eyes and frown, “Have you slept at all?”
He hesitates before replying, “I did.”
There’s the slightest spike in his heart rate before it quickly falls back to normal.
“Trying to fool me with half truths again?” There’s no bite to your tone and you chuckle when his cheeks flush a subtle shade of pink.
“I dozed.” He laughs softly, “Better?”
“Better.” You smile, though it quickly falls into something more serious, “Have you figured out what we’re going to do?”
The humour shining in his eyes fizzles out and he looks away from you with a sigh, rubbing at his mouth and leaning forward to rest his elbow in the divot where his knee bends, “We have to get you out of the palace.”
“I have a friend in Duva that runs an inn?” You suggest. “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind sparing a room.”
Immediately, he’s shaking his head.
“They’ll be searching for you there. An inn will be one of the first places they’ll look.”
“She’s also a rather talented tailor if that helps.”
He pauses and looks over your shoulder, clearly thinking through some sort of plan. Reluctantly, he nods, “We’ll need to find a way to transport you there without raising any suspicion.”
“You’re supposed to be searching for me too, aren’t you?” Slowly, he nods again, “It would make sense for you to volunteer to search the very place you found me. If we depart before dawn, you could use your shadows to keep me hidden.”
He thinks for another moment before he narrows his eyes at you with a small smile, “You’re rather talented at scheming. Have you done this before?”
“What? Plotted an escape or been wanted by the crown?” He laughs and you find yourself glad when he doesn’t press you about that first bit. You glance at the clock and your eyes blow wide, “Don’t you have a meeting you should be preparing for?”
He hesitates before running a hand through his hair, “I do.”
“You should get ready. If you miss anything important, it might raise suspicion.” He nods but doesn’t move to leave. You reach for his hand, “Go. I’ll be alright here.”
He nods again, leaning forward to peck your forehead before standing up to get ready.
<—--------->
The next morning, you rise before the sun and follow Aleksander out towards the stables. You’d need a team if this plan was going to be believable, so Aleksander had called on Fedyor and Ivan for the Journey. They were the only two people he’d trust with this mission.
You’d both agreed that you’d leave while the rest of the Little Palace was sound asleep — Aleksander’s excuse to the king being he wanted to start his search as soon as possible — Which leaves you with two rather grumpy Corporalki. Fedyor is still trying to be friendly despite the edginess caused by sleep deprivation. His partner, on the other hand, makes no such effort.
When you finally reach the stable, you make quick work of tacking up the horses and soon enough, Aleksander is hoisting you up onto his horse’s back. He settles himself behind you and you watch him make a fist with one hand and cup his knuckles with the other.
“Ready?”
You nod, and he slowly parts them, shadows flowing in the space between his palms. It isn’t long until they engulf you, shielding you from the world. You can still see what’s directly in front of you, but anything to either side of you is hidden by darkness. This is only temporary. Once you’re far enough down one of the old hunting trails Aleksander insisted on taking, he’ll disband the shadows until you’re out in the open again.
You travel until nightfall, only stopping when Fedyor nods off and nearly falls off his horse. You set up camp near the base of a tall oak tree a little ways off the path and eat a dinner that consists of bread and herring. There’s very little conversation, the crackling of the fire filling the silence. There’s this deep, sickening sense of dread that sits heavy in your stomach, no matter how many times you try to shake it off. Everything is so uncertain. You have no idea what you’ll do once you reach the inn, once Aleksander finishes “searching” for you. Scenario after dreadful scenario swirls through your mind and your stomach starts to hurt with worry.
You retire to your bedroll the moment you’re finished eating.
<—--------->
It goes on like this for two more nights. Sleeping under the stars, eating as much as you can stomach before crawling under your blankets. By the time night rolls around on the fourth day, you’re sore and tired and longing for the comforts of home. Whether that means your house in Duva or the Little Palace, you aren’t sure anymore.
This time, you’ve stumbled across an abandoned barn in a field along the path you’re currently on. You’d diverged from the hunting trail a while back, and though you can’t place where you are now, you’re glad to have a roof over your head. You go through your now nightly routine, helping Fedyor with the fire while Aleksander divvies up the food and Ivan lays out the bedrolls. Again, you eat your dinner quietly, listening to the others talk and nodding along when necessary. You aren’t following the conversation, only really listening to hear Aleksander’s voice.
When you retire to bed, you find sleep doesn't come to you. You’re about a half day’s ride from Duva now and all the dread and anxiety has come to keep you awake. After nearly two hours of laying there with your eyes closed, you slide out from under your covers and tip toe over a sleeping Aleksander to put your boots on.
When you step outside the barn, the air bites at your cheeks and dries out your eyes but you pay it no mind. Venturing a little further, you find a long forgotten hay bale pressed up against the wall and brush off the thin covering of snow to sit down. The sky is a vast abyss dotted with stars above you, not a cloud in sight. You try to pick out the constellations you know but give up after only a few minutes, choosing to just admire instead. The darkness would have scared you a few months ago. Now it provides you with a small piece of the comfort Aleksander brings you.
Speaking of, you hear his heartbeat before you see him emerge from the barn, rapid until he sets his sights on you and breathes a small sigh of relief.
“You shouldn’t be out here alone.” He states, voice still a little gravelly from sleep as he comes closer.
“I needed air.” He sits down next to you, thigh pressing against yours as he manages to wrap his cloak around both of you, “Sorry for waking you.”
“Don’t be.” He stares at you for a long moment and again you get the sense that he’s staring into your soul, “Are you alright?”
“Fine.”
He tuts once at you and looks up at the stars. When he speaks, he gently knocks your shoulder with his, “You know, if I’m not allowed to lie to you, it would only be fair for me to hold you to that same standard.”
You sigh heavily and for a split second he can see the exhaustion, the hopelessness. When you drop your temple to his shoulder, he wraps his arm around your waist to hold you closer, “I want to believe everything is going to work out, and I trust you to keep me safe, but what happens once you return to the Little Palace? Do I just sit in Duva doing nothing? What if they send someone else looking for me once you’ve left? What if I have to run? What if they do find me–?
He says your name once, softly, but it’s enough to stop your spiralling, “I promised to protect you, and I have every intention of keeping that promise.”
“But–.”
“But nothing. I’ll leave Fedyor in Duva with you. Should anything go awry once I’ve left, I’ll be notified.”
You nod once and let yourself sink a little further into his side. When you speak again, it’s little more than a whisper, “Thank you, Sasha.”
“Of course.” He mumbles and as he presses his lips to your hairline, you feel that familiar tingle as your power rustles somewhere deep inside your soul and rises up under your skin to meet him. He’s an amplifier, you know that, but you don’t mention it. Instead, you let the feeling take you, the exhaustion dulling slightly as your senses are swallowed by him. His heart, his breath. All of him.
You look back up at the sky and try picking out constellations again.
“I used to be able to name them all, you know.”
He’s about to ask what you’re talking about when he follows your gaze, understanding once he sees the stars blinking above the two of you.
“Well, not all. But quite a few of them.” You continue, gaze searching the vast dark sea above you. Now that you aren’t so preoccupied, you manage to find one, “There,” You point, “That’s the Scholar.”
He follows where you’re pointing and sure enough, he recognizes the formation of stars you’ve spotted. To the right of it, there’s another. He takes your wrist gently and moves it so that you’re pointing at it, “That one’s the Hunter.”
You smile for the first time in nearly a week and he realises just how much he missed it.
The two of you continue searching the sky for as many constellations as you can find, pointing them out to each other until there are none left to find. You don’t see it, but he spends more time looking at you than the sky, stars reflecting in your eyes like little flecks of snow.
When you finally grow tired enough and your fingertips have gone numb with the cold, you both make your way back inside. After saying goodnight, you slide into your bedroll and this time, sleep finally comes to you.

Nightmares to Dreams // General Kirigan/The Darkling
Request: Hii i would like to request angst for kirigan where he and reader are in love. The part on s1 where they were inside the fold and he was expanding it and as he was doing so, reader was injured then reader was dying or smt then suddenly everything was just a dream when reader woke up - anon

Tumblr media
The first thing you notice is the drop in temperature; your teeth clatter together and goosebumps cover every inch of skin that is bared to the elements.
The second thing that registers is the noise; the terrible, frightening noise of the Volcra as they swarm above you, wings flapping as they look for their next meal.
The final thing you come to notice is Kirigan, stood metres away from you, arms raised in semblance of a victorious pose.
You call out to him; your voice landing on deaf ears for he doesn’t move, doesn’t even acknowledge your desperate pleas. Fear begins to choke you; cutting off your pleas, your begging. The blood in your veins turns to ice as you come to realise what the love of your life plans to do.
Each and every step towards him is a challenge. The threat of the Volcra combined with the unknown from Kirigan creates an atmosphere that could rival even the lowest circle of hell.
Darkness swirls around Kirigan; his power coming out to play now that he has an audience. You watch, tears silently falling down your face as the fold begins to expand.
You try one last time. His name – a blessing in the past, said with love and joy now tastes bitter as you beg him to stop, to think again.
It all comes to a stop – every thought, every word – when the claws of a Volcra rip through your kefta to the skin below.
His name dies on your lips as the Volcra’s claws dig deep into your body. The pain is too much; searing heat rushing through your body, a scream lodged in your throat as your vision begins to fade. The last of your strength, as the Volcra flaps its enormous wings, goes toward looking at the love of your life to find you barely even recognise him at all.
—————————————
You wake with a start, panic turning your veins to sludge as you take a minute to get used to your surroundings.
A bedroom. Four walls; two large windows, black curtains.
A bed. Four-poster, dark sheets, not alone.
Wiping the sweat from your brow, you turn to see Kirigan still sound asleep, utterly unaware of the nightmare you had just faced. A pang of envy hits you, jealous of his ability to sleep through just about anything.
Your heart rate slows to its normal rate; the adrenaline leaving your body just as swiftly as it had arrived, leaving you cold and on edge. Rubbing a hand across your face, you know you were not about to fall back asleep so easily.
Leaving the bedroom, you cast a single glance to the man still sleeping peacefully. Despite everything, a fond smile settles on your lips at the sight. Kirigan looked so much younger in sleep; less burderned by the world, and by his power. An arm stretched above his head, he turns his face inwards to his elbow, letting out a quiet snore as sleep pulls him further under.
You head immediately for Kirigan’s favourite spot; a loveseat just big enough for the both of you. You couldn’t count on one hand the hours you had spent on here, entwined with Kirigan, talking of nothing and everything all at once.
It’s cold when you sit down; the warmth having been leeched from the room as night descended. You grab the blanket from the back of the chair, wrapping it around you tightly. The material is soft against your skin; soothing as you try your best not to think of the nightmare.
The room is dark save for the dying embers of a fire lit the night before. It pops and crackles; providing you with a soundtrack for forgetting the horrors from your sleep. The nightmare flashes in your mind; the look on Kirigan’s face, his power-hungry gaze, and the pain of the Volcra’s claws. They circle your mind; revolving, one after the other, making it hard to focus on little else.
Exhausted, you run a hand down your face, wanting nothing more to be asleep beside the man you so desperately love. In the dark of the room, you could feel him reach out to you as he so often did in the night. His arms coming to encompass you; his nose burying in your hair. Kirigan needed the physical contact; he needed to know that you were still there, alive and happy.
“There you are,” A voice sounds, pulling you from your reverie. Kirigan smiles sleepily as he pauses at the bedroom door. “I couldn’t find you.”
A watery smile adorns your lips at the sound of relief in his voice. There was no sign of the tyrant from your nightmare. In his place was the man you had known for years, the man who loved you beyond recognition. “I’m sorry,” You reply, your voice barely more than a whisper.
“Darling,” Kirigan begins; his voice rough with sleep and concern, “Why are you awake at this time?”
You shrug, not quite meeting his gaze. “I wanted to get an early start.”
Kirigan wanders to you; his black robe swishing quietly against the floor before he gestures for you to move to one side. He settles beside you, reaching for you with no hesitation as he wraps you in his arms. You breathe easier with your back pressed to his chest; feeling warm and safe despite the horrors you had just encountered in your sleep.
Kirigan presses a kiss to the top of your head. “Let’s try again,” He murmurs, “How come you’re awake before the sun?”
“I had a nightmare,” You confess quietly, feeling rather childish in the grand scheme of things.
He tucks a piece of your hair behind your ear. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You hide your face in your hands. “It was awful,” You lament, your voice somewhat muffled. “It was absolutely awful.”
Kirigan shifts your positions, settling you across his lap and tugging your hands from your face so he can see and hear you better. “Darling, I have to know now if it’s got you this worked up.”
You take a deep breath before unloading the horror to him. “We were in the fold; it was so cold and the Volcra were circling. I was trying to find you and when I did, you had no interest in me. You were focused on expanding the fold, wanting to make it bigger and destroy any town and village that lay in its path. I tried getting closer to you, but the ground had turned to mud and I kept slipping. I kept shouting for you, over and over, and you simply ignored me or didn’t even hear me. Finally, it ended when a Volcra grabbed me in its claws, ripping at my back. The last thing I saw before I woke up was you, overloaded with power.”
Silence descends upon the room. You daren’t look Kirigan in the eye, not wanting to see the hurt that would surely be reflected there.
Kirigan takes in your words; feeling every one of them like a lance to his heart. Once upon a time, he wouldn’t have hesitated in his plans to expand the fold, but that all changed when he fell for you. He had his opinions over Grisha and their treatment within Ravka and throughout history, but now that he something worth living for, he was not about to risk it all.
He takes your face in his hands. He presses a kiss to your forehead, one to your nose before kissing your eyelids. Kirigan presses his forehead to yours in silent apology.
“I’m sorry you had to see all that,” Kirigan murmurs after a moment. “I can’t imagine how terrifying it would have been.”
Kirigan’s thumbs trace over your cheekbones; soothing you entirely. “It was so dark, and you couldn’t hear me,” You whisper, pain evident in your voice.
“I will always hear you,” Kirigan promises. “I will always look for you. I will always come for you.”
You do not doubt him. “I’ve never been so scared.”
Kirigan releases your face in favour for wrapping you in his arms, holding you close to his chest as if he could protect from all the horrors in the world. “Are you still scared?”
You shake your head, pressing your nose to his chest and inhaling the his familiar woody scent. “No, I know I have you to protect me.”
“You will always have me to protect you whether it be from threats or nightmares. There is no life without you in it; my reason for living.”
His words wash over you as sleep starts to pull you under. Kirigan smiles fondly at the sight; he could easily carry you back to bed and fall back asleep beside you, but he doesn’t want to risk disturbing you further. Instead, he brushes your hair away from his face and kisses your forehead, hoping he has done his best to your nightmares into dreams.

Little Disturbance
Summary: Alina and Aleksander are in a meeting, when you decide to disrupt it very, very, very politely. Which later leads to a nice, fluff-filled evening.
Darklina x Fem!Child!Reader
Warnings: None. Unless you count tooth-rotting fluff!
Age: 5
Note: For the sake of the story, Baghra is alive, and both the Darkling and Alina rule Ravka.
———
To be honest, sometimes your grandmother was a bit…dull. As much as you loved hanging out in her house, eating food every waking moment, it did get a bit boring. She had no interesting books, apart from Grisha hand manuals, and some books on lore so ancient it hadn’t been translated.
Granted, she told you stories of your father when he was younger, but even stories could keep a five year old entertained so much.
“Nana,” you said, looking up from your game with a few dolls Aleksander had made for you, “When can I meet Mama and Papa?”
Baghra, who was reading by the fireplace, replied, “They’re in a meeting, child. You are not to see them till the Palace’s dinner bell goes.”
“But I wanna check if they’re okay!” You whined, leaning forward to catch at her skirt with your small hands.
“If they weren’t okay, then we’d have known by know,” sighed the woman before nudging at your hands with her own. “Stop that fiddling, child.”
You did want to meet your parents, so you made a very logical decision when your grandmother wasn’t looking.
You stood up from the floor where you’d been playing and made a run for it.
You dashed down shortcuts and pathways, laughing at Baghra’s exclamations for you to stop.
You avoided Zoya, swerved around Genya, even tripped up poor Feydor, who was trying his best not to dirty his new boots, all to get to that meeting room.
You found the massive double doors which you’d been asked to never step inside of when they were closed, and pushed them open with all your might anyway, ignoring the guards who exclaimed at you to stop.
You went unnoticed as you closed the well-oiled door carefully, and you noticed your mother’s familiar kefta as well as the bun she wore whenever she had an official meeting.
You heard your father talking authoritatively and resisted the urge to run to him, and instead walked over to your mother.
Alina gasped softly upon feeling someone tug at her kefta sleeve, and laughed softly when she saw you grinning up at her. She quickly lifted you up and placed you on her lap such that you were facing her, asking in a low voice, “Did you sneak from Nana’s house all the way here?”
“Yes,” you grinned and nodded. “I escaped.”
“Oh, yes, my little escape artist,” she chuckled, kissing your nose. “Why? We’re you bored?”
“A little,” you nodded. “But I wanted to make sure you and Papa were okay!”
“Darling, if something happened to Mama and Papa, then you’d know immediately,” she said, turning you on her lap so that you faced the rest of the council members.
“I was missing you, Mama!” You whined, leaning into her.
“Alright, little one,” smiled Alina, squeezing you a little. “Be very quiet while this meeting goes on, okay?”
You nodded and listened to your father talking, catching his eye and smiling as he shot you a wink. He looked at Alina, who shook her head, then nodded at the board which had the map of Ravka on it.
One of the councilmen, Igor Romanov, raised his hand and inquired, “Er, sir, why is there a child in the room? I believe she is too young to be listening to this conversation and,” he glanced at Alina, who was coping at you as she let you play with her fingers, “Seems to be a bit of a distraction.”
“Councilman Romanov,” said your father, his face set like stone, “I appreciate your…concern, but as long as I am not distracted by the child, I don’t think any of you should pay her any mind.”
Feydor then burst into the room, panting as he apologised profusely, “I am so sorry, sir. I will escort her to her rooms if need be—“
“There will be no need, Feydor,” said Alina turning in her chair a little to face him. “Thank you.”
“Of course, my queen,” he bowed and excused himself.
“Now, as I was saying…” Aleksander’s voice continued what he’d been discussing earlier, and you slowly began to nod off in Alina’s arms, your father’s smooth baritone voice calming to your ears.
The meeting ended shortly, and Alina smiled and cooed at your sleeping figure, as your held her hand tightly as you did. Once the councilmen emptied out, Aleksander walked over and kissed his wife’s head, then yours, which startled you awake.
“Papa!” You squealed, reaching out to hug him.
“Hello, moya malenk’ya printessa (my little princess),” he smiled and lifted you off Alina’s lap, swinging you up and placing you back down again, earning a laugh from you. “How was your time with Nana?” He placed you on his hip, your mother walking beside him.
“A bit boring,” you admitted.
“And why did you come to the meeting room after Mama told you not to?” He asked, eyebrow raised, but a smile on his face.
“I wanted to make sure you were okay!” You said, leaning your head on his shoulder.
“I-“ he faltered for a moment, caught Alina’s eye, and proceeded to burst out laughing.
“Papa! It’s not funny!” You frowned. “Mama, tell him!”
“Aleksander,” said Alina, pausing her laughter and putting on a mock-serious glare. “Y/n is right. We could have been seriously injured. She can protect us, you know.”
Aleksander wiped a tear of laughter from his eye and said, “Ah, yes, of course my love. Indeed, indeed.”
The three of you went to the main palace, where you greeted the doormen happily, who simply bowed and stepped aside for you all to enter.
“Mama,” you asked, eyes on the doormen with their stony faces and blank eyes. “Why don’t they say hello back?”
“Oh, they’re not supposed to, little one,” Alina replied, gesturing for Aleksander to place you down. “There are rules for everything and everyone here.”
“That sounds boring,” you said, running around them. “I don’t like boring things.”
“Then you must bear with your Nana, because she loves you very much,” said your father, ruffling your hair. Alina gasped and hit him on his shoulder, earning an ‘ow’ from his end.
“That is your mother, Aleksander,” she scowled.
“Yes, yes, sorry, my love,” he nodded, rubbing the place where she’d hit him.
Alina scooped you up from where you were running around and said, “Someone needs to take a bath,” she placed you on her hip and smiled at you, “My little one smells like smoke and cloves. Did Nana decide to have you help her cooking lunch?”
You nodded, “Yes!” And giggled as you pulled out the pin which kept your mother’s hair up, earning a gasp from her when she took the pin from you.
“And I though I’d be the one to do that tonight,” Aleksander whispered in his wife’s ear, making a blush spread over her cheeks.
“Aleksander, please, there is a child present,” she chided.
She took you to their room, placing you on the bed and picking out a nightdress of your choice as Aleksander tickled and laughed with you.
“Thank god, no more meetings for another two days,” laughed Alina as she took you to the bathroom, Aleksander sitting on the bed, reading a book.
“Mama,” you said, reaching for the laces of your dress. “I heard from Genya that there’s going to be a travelling circus and carnival coming to the town tomorrow ! Can we go?”
Alina helped you with the laces and smiled, “Well, if you do your lessons properly tomorrow without trying to escape, then maybe we can go.”
“Yes!” You squealed, sitting in the tub and letting her bathe you quickly, singing a soft Ravkan song to keep you occupied.
“There,” she said, tying your hair in a braid. “Now my little one’s much fresher.”
You nodded and smiled, running into your parents’ bedroom, leaping on your father with a bright grin, making him laugh and place his book away.
“Mama said we can go to the circus tomorrow!” You squealed. “You’ll come with us, right?”
“Of course, little one,” he nodded, kissing your forehead. “Family day.”
“I’m gonna win a crow figurine this time for sure!” You said, turning your stag figurine in your hands, which Alina kept on the bedside table before you’d bathed.
“What all have you won so far?” He asked, picking you up and taking you to your room, Alina close behind as she talked in a hushed voice to a servant who’d handed her a letter.
You pointed at the shelf on your bookcase which was full of animal figurines from a long time of your father and mother helping you win them at every carnival which came to town.
“I’ve got a stag, a lion, a lynx…” you rambled on, naming every single animal on your shelf, placing the stag on its place carefully.
“What do you say to a puzzle before bed?” Your father asked after having listened to your long talk about different animals.
“Puzzle!” You grinned. Aleksander knew you loved puzzles. The picture ones or the brain teasers which one of his Durasts would make almost every day, you and him always sat and solved them together. If he couldn’t do it because of work, he’d solve two with you the next day.
He pulled out two paper packages from his kefta pockets, placing them in front of you. “Which one?” He asked with a smile.
You thought for a moment and pointed at the one on the left, which he handed to you, and took the right one for himself.
You opened it to find a simple cube of interlocking pieces, one of which you took out to disassemble the whole cube.
Alina sat next to you, pulling you into her lap as you started to figure out how to solve your puzzle.
Aleksander had a wooden six-point star, which he took apart and began to try and reassemble, while Alina and you both ganged up on him, her helping you with your puzzle, while Aleksander struggled with his.
“That is not fair, you cannot use your intellectual strength to defeat me!” Complained your father.
Someone knocked at the door, and Alina placed you off her lap to open it.
“Aleksander,” she said, seeing Feydor, “It’s for you.”
Aleksander placed down his puzzle and sighed, ruffling your hair as you continued to try solving your puzzle.
Alina sat back with you, listening to you talk about random things as you took apart the puzzle for what felt like the tenth time, grumbling in frustration.
“Papa,” you whined, “I can’t solve it!”
“Just a minute, moya malen’kya printessa,” he said, before glaring back at Feydor.
Alina noticed their interaction becoming more and more heated in whispers, and decided to step in.
“Is everything alright?” Asked the Sun Summoner, frowning slightly, standing next to Aleksander.
“I have to go to Novyi Zem,” he muttered. “Tonight. The governor needs me at a meeting for their economical security matters.”
“At this hour?” Asked Alina, her brow furrowing further. “Can’t it wait? You promised Y/n about the circus and carnival.”
“I’m afraid this matter is a bit too grave, and can’t be avoided,” sighed Aleksander. “And I think the two of us will have to go.”
“Sadly yes,” said Feydor. “The governor has requested both of you to be there.”
“Oh for Saints’ sake—“ scoffed Alina. “We have a child to take care of, doesn’t anyone understand that?”
“Nannies are something I can sugges—“ Feydor began, but was cut off by a glare from both your parents.
“I refuse to be some absent parent in my child’s life for the sake of convenience, Feydor,” said your father. “Inform the governor that Alina and I will be able to make it day after tomorrow, due to personal matters.”
“Mama…” you whined trudging over to Alina and tugging at her kefta, “I need help with my puzzle!”
“If you both could take this conversation outside, I’d appreciate it,” your mother said authoritatively. She took your hand and sat on the bed, helping you with your puzzle.
“Do you and Papa have to go again?” You asked, pouting as you looked at your mother with big, watery, e/c eyes.
“No, no,” she shook her head, pulling you into her lap for a cuddle. “We are not going anywhere, my love.”
You sniffled and buried your face in her now-open hair, your small hands fisting in her kefta’s soft fabric, relaxing a bit when she rubbed your back soothingly.
Aleksander rushed over after having told Feydor what to do, and immediately asked frantically, “What’s wrong, Y/n, my love?”
You mumbled and hid your face in Alina’s neck, and she explained that you were upset because she and him might have to go away for a trip again.
Your father took you in his lap and said, “I postponed the meeting to day after, so we can go to the carnival and get you your crow figure. We are going to have the best day in history, I promise you that.”
You nodded and yawned, nuzzling into him as he patted your back gently to lull you to sleep.
“She’s a Papa’s girl for sure,” laughed Alina, caressing your hair.
“Absolutely,” nodded Aleksander as he gently placed you down to lay on the bed.
Before they could leave, you caught Alina’s hand and opened your eyes with a pout.
“Mama,” you said tiredly, “Sing, please.”
Laughing softly, Alina lay beside you, propping herself up on her elbow as you curled up into her relaxing as she began to stroke your hair. On your other side sat your father, who’s hand you held firmly.
Alina began singing Ravkan lullabies, and Aleksander accompanied the ones he knew. You slowly fell asleep, and Aleksander soon realised he was the only one singing, as Alina, too, had fallen asleep, with you curled into her an her arm draped protectively across you.
He smiled and placed a blanket over the two of you, before pausing upon feeling your hand tighten over his. He lay down too, feeling warmth bloom in his chest as you snuggled closer to him.
And so, your evening concluded, with you asleep in your parents arms, a true image of tranquility.
