26 Reasons why Qrow is not Ruby’s father and why Taiyang is Ruby’s father

In response to the toxic aspect of the fandom attacking CRWBY and demanding that their desires for Qrow be chosen over canon, or how they feel their theory is more valid than the show itself? I have researched RWBY to make this 26-point Discussion as to why Canon is valid, and fancanon is not when it comes to Qrow Branwen, Ruby Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, and Summer Rose.

1. “Monty said NO” Most obviously. Monty Oum.

He said in this tweet that ruby and yang are half-sisters…half-sisters, which means they share the same mom or dad…in this case Taiyang….

Now people have claimed “he obviously meant step-sisters or cousins” Why is it that every time we show the English dictionary to you people or ask you to read it, that you claim you are being attacked or that you claim Monty was misleading us?

2. The writers said NO

Miles Luna debunked this theory on Reddit…

He pointed out that Ruby sees Qrow as a Role model, so she adapts her colors to be similar to his.

SUMMER DID NOT WANT HIM. And he was literally saying he served Ozpin because Ozpin gave him purpose. It’s pretty sad how people think Qrow can only be a complex character if he obsesses over another person’s wife and child. What , you wanna make him Severus Snape, the Lilly Potter stalker who insulted a girl’s face and tried to poison a boy’s pet and publicly outed a teacher?

6. “Qrow fans claim that Ruby and Summer form a core part of Qrow’s character and backstory.” WRONG! The main accusation for demanding Rooster Teeth / CRWBY change the backstory for Qrow would accomplish nothing.

Raven already pushed Yang onto Taiyang to raise on his own.

Qrow forcing Tai to Raise Ruby alongside Yang while Qrow could regularly visit, and while Summer lived with Taiyang, Yang, and Ruby?

It would cheapen Qrow’s character….blood isn’t everything. Neither are cliches.

7. “But what if Qrow gave Ruby to Tai to raise after Summer’s death?” Volume Chapter 6, Burning the Candle.

Yang tells Blake that she (yang) and Ruby were raised together by Summer and Taiyang…not by Taiyang on his own, but by Summer and Taiyang.

Yang clearly had memories of being raised by Summer and Tai both, which meant that Summer and Taiyang lived together raising Ruby and Yang for Several Years.

8. “Does Taiyang care about Summer or Ruby?” Taiyang was noted to have shut down when Summer didn’t come back…. Yang noted this in Volume 2 Chapter 6, and Ruby mentioned in the first episode of Volume 3 that Taiyang missed Summer. Qrow also said that Ruby is Taiyang’s “Special Angel”…. Ruby has also pointed out numerous times that Taiyang is Overprotective of Ruby. In fact, Ruby's conversation with Penny about overprotective fathers.

9. “Qrow knows Taiyang is Ruby’s Father. Taiyang knows Ruby is Taiyang’s daughter. Qrow has referred to Taiyang as Ruby’s father during volume 3 and 7. Taiyang referred to Ruby as his daughter in volume 3.

10. “Why didn’t Taiyang train Ruby in Martial Arts?” Taiyang is a martial arts fighter. Ruby has neither the build nor the personality for ruthless hand to hand combat like her sister… Taiyang would trust Qrow, despite his semblance. Remember how bad Ruby was in v5?

11. “Qrow’s semblance is not what his fans exaggerate it to be”

Speaking of Qrow’s semblance? He was playing video games with his nieces, taught at Signal Academy, and could train Ruby… Clearly, his semblance is not what theorists make it out to be.

12. “Why doesn’t Qrow treat Yang the same way he treats Ruby?”

Yang is the daughter of Qrow’s sister,who abandoned the team.

During a one on one interaction between Qrow and Yang after yang vs mercury, Qrow called his own niece crazy, after she had been framed.

Qrow was not empathetic to Yang.

Qrow may not like Yang’s resemblance to Raven.

Ruby is the daughter of his two closest friends, so of course he’d prefer Ruby over Yang.

13. “Examples of Taiyang caring for Ruby.”

Volume 2 Ruby was excited when Taiyang sent a package in the mail, not even knowing it was Zwei.

Taiyang was at Ruby’s bedside in V3, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

He also tried to bring her breakfast in bed.

Taiyang said he wanted to chase after Ruby, but had to nurse Yang back to health.

During the V8 broadcast, Taiyang was upset when the broadcast was cut.

14. “Genetics research”

Black hair is the subtype of the pigment for blonde hair…

Also, Ruby’s got the same hair strand that Yang and Taiyang have.

Finally, black hair is more dominant.

So Ruby doesn’t need blonde hair to be Taiyang’s kid.

15. “The STRQ Photo”

The photo....Qrow was with STRQ for four years...do you really think Qrow is not allowed to cry on the photo unless he was romantically involved? Can't a man grieve over the death of a female friend that he was NOT in a relationship with? Or are men not allowed to have female friends? Ichigo and Rukia from Bleach for example...friendship. They were his friends, his family. People seem obsessed with the idea that Qrow cannot care about a woman unless he was romantically involved or unless he's their bastard father.

16. “Men and Women…as friends, platonic” Harry Potter as a book showed that a boy and a girl can interact and still be friends…

Why can’t Qrow be Summer’s friend?

Why does he have to be her lover?

We’ve seen Qrow talk about Innkeeper’s skirt lengths and leer at Barmaids who flirted with him.

Also, he’s shown to be bonding with both Clover and Robyn.

People act like he doesn't flirt with anyone , and yet he does.

17. “Bad Luck Charm” Qrow has spent his whole life with his semblance, named after a Crow.

Raised by the Branwen bandit tribe.

“You and I are not the same, you don’t want the burden of my name” Both Branwen and Qrow are names that Qrow hates due to his semblance and past…

People may think of him as cool, but Qrow suffers from self-loathing.

So NO, the Bad Luck Charm song does NOT in fact allude to Qrow being Ruby’s father, but that Qrow hates himself, hence a major part of why he’s alcoholic.

Proof of which is his volume 6 exchange with Ozpin about being useful, which Qrow disagrees with, leading him to drink further. Yang literally said that she had never seen qrow so drunk before in v6.

And Ruby encourages his self-worth leading him to try giving up alcohol….

His alcoholism is tied to low-self-esteem, not relationships.

18. Manga Anthology

Taiyang was shown in the Manga Anthology to have shut down upon Summer’s Death. That impacted his relationship with Ruby and Yang. Qrow? Is relatively unaffected. The good Uncle helping around the house. Taiyang haters and Qrow stans took this to demand that Qrow is entitled to Ruby, despite Taiyang recovering and doing his best to be a father. Anything Qrow does is worshipped like Mother Teresa, while anything Taiyang does, good or bad, is downplayed and smashed. Taiyang loved Summer so much he was devastated by her death. Qrow was unaffected. Think about that.

19. “I like Brats” Why does Qrow spend time with kids he’s not related to? Because he likes kids. You know how there are adults who enjoy being around brats? That’s Qrow. He didn’t have romantic feelings for Summer, he liked being around her because she was like a kid. Similar to how Blake likes Ruby’s idealism? And trusts her leadership?

20. “Taiyang the 2-timer accusation”

A woman on youtube claimed that Taiyang was a 2-timer who cheated on raven with summer, as there was, in her and her friends’ minds, “no way that taiyang could be with half his team” When asked about TaiQrow as a joke, she was angered that people even ship TaiQrow.

But let me ask you this. Are you the same person you are now that you were 10 years ago? People claim that Qrow was somehow cool in beacon…because he’s cool now. But Taiyang, who raises two kids, and holds a job and a house…cannot be ruby’s father…because he’s not cool? And that somehow he was never cool? I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had to be cool to be a parent. I also had no idea people were only allowed to be in one relationship per lifetime. Raven freaking abandoned Tai for the tribe. Summer chose Taiyang over Qrow. People literally make Qrow out to be either an OC in a shipping fanfic, or a Naruto fanfic where Naruto is written to be fawned over by a girl whose canonical spouse, boyfriend, or male friend is somehow rewritten as evil.

1 year…..in 1 year since Raven abandoned Taiyang and Yang, Summer Rose the friend of Taiyang’s who he had known for 4 years, became more than a friend.

So no….Taiyang is not a two-timer…he moved on from Raven.

22. “Why can’t Taiyang talk about Summer?” To WHO? He’s barely got 15 minutes of screentime, and the writers did NOT do him any favors when they had Qrow demand he leave so Qrow could tell Ruby a secret Ozpin trusted him with, before telling Ruby to run away from home leaving only a freaking note. Terrible daughter. Even Yang was prepared to do the same! To a man whose first wife abandoned him! At least Weiss has a legit reason for acting as she does against Jacques, several at least. Ruby? No. Now why would Taiyang talk about Summer’s fighting style to Yang when trying to get her to stop acting like Raven in her fighting style and semblance? Sure if there was more time…but RT at the end of the day isn’t some money-hungry political entity, it’s a startup at the end of the day, they don’t have the ability to do a full anime episode. Also, Taiyang cannot go out on these active missions…he was a schoolteacher who did not do missions until only recently…he was retired, remember.

23. “These fanworks make more sense to me”

Qrow fans have tried using fanworks to justify their theory or ship, the same way Blacksun fans or Adam apologists make similar claims, and even Raven fans try to claim Raven is somehow a good mother. What do these fanworks do? Hate on Taiyang. Dismiss Ruby and Yang being half-blood siblings. Ignore multiple elements of the show or scenes. Occasionally shit-talk the writers.

Every time somebody tries to make a “rwby rewrite” or “rwby alt” or “Qrow is ruby’s father au” they cannot do it without completely rewriting the characters in so many forms and even the show, till Qrow, Raven, Taiyang, and Summer are NOTHING like they are in the show…And ONLY how a shipper wants qrow to be.

Or rewriting qrow to be nothing like he is in the show.

Most Alt or Rewrite consists of making Taiyang abusive, a cheater, or refusing to allow him to interact with Summer, while regularly pushing qrowxsummer at each other.

So no…it’s not that it makes sense to them through some fanart….a headcanon that has been debunked is no longer headcanon. A theory that is shut down is no longer a theory. There’s a reason anti-vaxxers and flat-earthers still exist. Because to them, their theories make more sense than reality. Which is why people still believe Qrow is Ruby’s father the same way people believe vaccines cause autism. Neither are true, and no amount of facts will shut them down, but they’re both popular theories.

24. “Qrow Rings and Cross”

People claim that Qrow was married to Summer or that his cross represents him mourning Summer. Did the STRQ photo, in v3, the same volume as his appearance, not show Qrow with his rings, his cross, and angrily scowling, while Summer was right next to Taiyang?

25. “What about Summer Rose’s choice?”

Remember how I said making Qrow’s character based on solely Ruby and Summer, ignoring everything regarding the tribe and ozpin giving him hope, and the grimm reaper…was bad writing? There’s a reason people hated v5. Raven was proven to be the deadbeat, Qrow was shown to have friends, and that Taiyang knew about Salem, and of course it was confirmed that Yang and Ruby again were sisters by Raven.

Now how about Summer? Team leader….took a man and a daughter who were abandoned by her friend…and made them her own. Yang calls Summer Rose “Supermom” and “Her Hero”…was literally willing to storm a bandit camp so Raven could use her portal to take Yang to Qrow, so she could get to Ruby. And yeah, I know the RWBY critics scream “why didn’t Yang just look for Ruby in Mistral?” It’s a bloody kingdom, and Yang was pursuing a lead, that Tai had given her, and Qrow told Yang he’d look after her sister. Remember that? Oh wait, RWBY Critics forget, my bad. Anyway, she’s more of a sister to Qrow than his blood sister Raven, she’s more of a mother to Yang than Raven, and she’s more of a spouse to Tai than Raven. Good Stepmother. Non-married couple. Relationship built on trust. Blood is not the same as family. (Example Weiss’s remark to her father) (Or Dom Toretto)

So making Summer into a throw-away character who dies so that a brooding jerk of an alcoholic can claim character development? Making a woman nothing except a throw-away for a man to get development is BAD WRITING. For God’s Sakes, even Pyrrha was written better than that! She interacted with team rwby, nora was always helping her out, and so was Ren (though those shakes are a crime against humanity” But when Qrow fans try to demand he’s ruby’s father? Their fanworks make Summer as much of a flat character as Preston Harvey from Fallout 4, where they make Summer unable to do anything but be obsessed with Qrow and having his child, similar to how Preston cannot think of anything other than “Another settlement needs your help, I’ll mark it on your pip-boy”

26. Finally, the accusations that CRWBY are lying.

“You have to be ****** if you believe CRWBY when they say Qrow isn’t Ruby’s father” “CRWBY is lying, it’s what writers do” “It’s okay for writers to lie, it’s good for plot” “I’d prefer it if CRWBY was lying to us” “Monty is dead, the writers should change it now” “Monty is dead, nothing else in the writing matters” “Monty was hiding the truth from us” “CRWBY is hiding the truth about Qrow being Ruby’s father” “It makes sense for CRWBY to lie to us” Look at this…Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, instagram…. The first quote? Was a woman who was using an anti-autism anti-disability slur defending the theory. Never have I ever seen people so obsessed with a theory that they would deny reality and be rude to the very writers and original creator. But the QrowxSummer and Qrow is Ruby’s Father fandom group has made countless cases of this. THIS is how they defend their theory? And people upvote, like and support these remarks? SHAME SHAME SHAME

Conclusion:

I get how people desire qrow to be Ruby’s father for ships or fanfics.

Even to where they make Taiyang a hated character just for the sake of making sure nobody disagrees with them.

But the attacking of RWBY and CRWBY, claiming that “this needs to be fixed”, or getting angry at RT for not giving you the non-canon ship you want? Claiming that just because you want it to be so, that somehow your ship/theory has “validity?”

That reflects poorly on the fandom and critics.

But then again…. It’s easy to ignore what’s real and what’s a fact that when theorists and ship-pushers and CRWBY Haters on youtube tells you to stop listening to monty and the writers, and instead believe whatever you want and claim whatever you want, Because surely you know what’s better for the show than the people who worked on it, right? Ha ha ha, no. THAT is the ULTIMATE disrespect somebody calling themselves a fan could ever give. And if you think or agree with that type of logic, you should look in the mirror.

A/N: I am so excited to be starting my first ever series. This is inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Cardigan” because her music creates stories in my head that I must write down on (digital) paper. Please keep in mind this chapter is written in past tense, and the story probably won't be in present tense for at least another few chapters. Let me know what you think! Summary: They say at fourteen you’re too young to know you’re in love. But what if you aren’t?

Grade: 9 Age: 14 --------------------------------- As sure as you are that spring comes after winter, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and seconds turn into minutes, you know you are in love with Joel Farabee. Not the gushy “I want to hug you and kiss you and never let you go” love, the intense “I want to burst at the seams because I just want to scream it on the rooftops and tell you and it literally crushes my heart that I can’t” love.

Yeah, that love.

The problem?

You were only fourteen when you knew.

Yes, the grand old age of fourteen. The age you were supposed to be nervously texting multiple boys, wondering if you were going to be asked to the ninth grade dance and worrying about who your first kiss was going to be, or even the first person you were going to hold hands with.

It started on the first day of school, but the start of it all was less than romantic. You shuffled up the hallway with one of your best friends, your feet felt like lead.

“What’s wrong?” Luna whispered in your ear.

“I really hate math,” you huffed. It was the last period of the day, eighth period, and you had to spend it in what was probably going to be a room full of rambunctious athletes who would be itching to burst out of the room at the very sound of the bell. How did you know this? Because you had been stuck in a class like that ever since the beginning of middle school. It made for some laughs, yes, but for some reason a pessimistic attitude bitterly swarmed around you in dark circles. Also, math in general made you anxious, and it didn’t help that the last few years you had to fend for yourself because of your lack of friends in said class.

“Well, at least you’ll have me this year,” Luna attempted to reassure you and your looming anxiety.

“Yeah, but I wonder who’s going to be in our class this year,” you mumbled. Your stomach swarmed with butterflies, but you’d rather call them icky moths.

Luna opened her mouth to respond, but you reached the door frame before her. Before you could even make it through the entrance, you made eye contact with a group of rowdy boys sitting at a table directly in front of you. You stopped dead in your tracks. They paused in their shouting to turn and look at you and Luna, since you were only about seven or eight feet away.

You scanned their faces, and you recognized most of them. They were mostly hockey players that played for the local team that looked for a shot at the NTDP in just a few short years. It was Syracuse, hockey was a pretty big deal there. There was also the prospective varsity quarterback and his star wide-receiver, these labels given to them at just fourteen. Of course, more athletes. Suddenly, you locked eyes with this boy you strangely have never seen before. His hand was hovering in air over his friend’s head with what you could only assume is his friend’s pencil in a lame attempt to keep him from grabbing it.

He blinked a few times, and you might have blinked a few times, you honestly couldn’t remember.

You snapped out of your trance and looked over to the board that said, “Welcome class! Pick your seats for the first day!”

“Hey,” Luna nudged you and grabbed your arm, “let’s sit over there.”

She lead you to a table adjacent to the boys’ table, despite your unheard protests of being “too close” to them.

You took your seat huffing, and you pulled out your binder and got ready for class, something you wished the crazy boys would pick up on. Thankfully the bell rang, your teacher shut the door, and class began.

That’s the first time you saw him. Not very eventful, but hey, you two were awkward fourteen year olds just entering grade nine. Of course things were not going to be all fireworks and love at first sight.

A few classes went by, and the only disturbance that occurred was when the class was taking one of those horrible diagnostic tests. See, you really hated disturbances, interruptions, anything relating to that matter.

So when this dude named Joel (you learned his name when he was yelled at for playing rap music in the middle of class) started fooling around with his friend while you were trying to figure out why letters were in math now, you weren’t happy, to say the least.

And when he locked eyes with you and made a silly face, yours did not move in a rather unamused manner. You simply blinked and looked back down at your test.

You missed his face slightly fall, but it was short lived when the teacher yelled his name from across the room and made everyone jump ten feet. He was quiet after that.

It was a random Tuesday in late October.

You and Luna were chatting about your previous classes, until you both stopped in your tracks and you raised an eyebrow. Everyone in your class was standing up and congregating away from tables. You could hear the ominous music creeping over everyone’s heads.

“Oh no,” you whined to Luna.

She winced. “We’re being assigned seats, aren’t we?”

You nodded. You both stood in the sea of kids and awaited your fate.

“Alright, everyone,” your teacher said. “You guys have been extremely chatty lately.” She paused to side-eye Joel and his friends.

He opened his mouth to protest, but he quickly shut it when she frowned.

“So you leave me no choice, but I must assign seats,” she dramatically said as she unveiled the new seating chart on the board.

Everyone pushed and shoved to the front to see where their name lied in the cards of fate. You heard some soft celebrations and loud protests.

You nudged your way in and scanned up and down the board. Luna wasn’t at the same table, but she was sitting facing towards you at another table. Hopefully you and her would be able to make eye contact. You scanned until you see your name fall right next to someone who you would rather forget you treated so poorly. It was there in bright, bold red.

Joel Farabee.

“Aw man,” you and a voice said in unison. You looked up at your side to see that it’s him. Oh dear brother. Did you both just admit out loud that you don’t want to sit next to each other? You and him rolled your eyes at each other, huffing that you’ll be forced to be in each other’s presence.

And you knew he was thinking some sort of variation of what you were: how dare your teacher.

You trudged over to your seat and plopped down. He threw down his stuff and sat next to you. You could sense his extreme dislike for your rather serious demeanor. Hey, you could crack a smile.

Just not around him. And for the life of you, you couldn’t figure out why. It’s almost like if you did, you knew you would never stop...

You both avoided eye contact, you played with your pencil as he yelled to one of his friends across the classroom about some stupid video game.

And that’s just how it was for weeks. You’d both come in, sit down, he’d scream to his friends, you’d fight shooting him a really dirty look.

Until one day, you accidentally did. Now, later when you told Luna, you swore up and down you didn’t mean to, and it was just the fact that seventh period gym was terrible (but when was it not). Okay, so maybe you were fed up with him yelling about whatever rap song came out, or whatever Instagram model popped up on his feed (that made you shutter).

But what you did wasn’t really admittedly the nicest.

“Joel, do you always have to yell so freaking loudly?” you snapped.

He feigned a stunned expression, or maybe he really meant it, who knows what goes on in that boy’s seemingly empty head.

“Do you have to be such a downer…like all the time? Kinda ruins the vibe bro.”

You rolled your eyes. “Thanks Joel, because the number one thing I care about is ruining your ‘vibe’,” you put that word in air quotes, “and not getting any work done in this class, bro.”

Now he rolled his eyes. “Look, you could benefit from loosening up a little, you know? You’re kind of just, not a fun person.”

A look of real hurt flashed across your face. One that he caught. “No,” you punctually state. Then you turn your seat so you completely have your back to him and you’re facing the board.

Meanwhile Luna and your table-mates watched the whole situation unfold. Okay, and maybe most of the class.

And when the bell rang and he called your name, you simply decided you didn’t hear it.

“He’s calling you,” Luna prodded.

You just shook your head as you continued down the hallway to the bus. On the bus, you had some thinking to do.

Did he really think of you as...boring? You usually didn’t let the immature words of boys get to you, but this, this really hurt.

“I’m sure he didn’t mean it,” Luna insisted that evening while lying on your bedroom floor that same Friday evening.

“Yes he did, and he’s kind of right,” you begrudgingly conceded. “I haven’t been the nicest to him,” you sigh into your hands, “and maybe I should be.”

“Well, what’s stopping you?” Luna curiously asked.

“I, I don’t know.”

The following Monday, you winced and leaned into Luna as you approached the classroom. To say you were terrified is an understatement.

But you took a deep breath, held your head high, and locked your face into a neutral expression. You never let anyone get the best of you, and you weren’t going to let Joel out of all people be one of the first.

Luna offered a small sympathetic smile as she made her way to her seat.

Your heart beated out of your chest anticipating his arrival. Sure enough, you caught him out of the corner of your eye. He took his time and strutted around the room to talk to all the friends he had. He was obviously looking to avoid you, too.

Coward.

Eventually, he made his way to his seat. He cleared his throat, but you didn’t budge. Ever heard of being saved by the bell?

“I’m going to hand back everyone’s quizzes from last class,” your teacher announced. You audibly groaned. That quiz did not go well. Who puts diamonds and boxes and something called factoring in math?

Sure enough, she shoved a C- into your sweaty hands.

“Dang,” you whispered.

You glanced over at Joel’s paper. 100%.

Are you kidding me?

His prying eyes had the audacity to spot your C-, as if you didn’t pry on his paper seconds before.

“That’s rough,” he said, trying to make eye contact with you.

“I- um, yeah, it is,” you choked out with your eyes still glued on your paper.

His heart broke when he heard your wavering voice. He had to do something.

“Can I see it?” He quietly asked, when quiet usually isn’t typically his demeanor.

You furrowed your brows in confusion. “Uh, sure?”

He took the paper and started drawing stars around the C- mark, very messily, may you add.

You went to take the paper back, but he moved it away from your grasp.

“One second,” he pleaded. He stuck his tongue out in concentration.

You tried to see how badly he was defacing your quiz, but the position of his arm prohibited you from peering over to see.

“Done,” he proudly said as he slid the paper back over to you.

Instead of a plain old C-, there was now...a C- with stars around it.

“Joel, this is very lovely and all, but why the stars around the C-?”

He smiled with his sickeningly sweet toothless grin, and your heart absolutely backflipped into oblivion.

“That’s not a C-,” he goofily joked, “that’s the moon, y/n,” he said through a smile. “See it?”

You looked up from your paper and looked at him in the eye. Your hands shook from adrenaline, your heart was fluttering, goodness, you didn’t know how you could feel any lighter.

That smile was going to be the death of you.

“Yeah, Joel,” you cracked a smile, “I do see it. Thank you,” you sincerely said.

Crack a smile.

You cracked a smile.

His heart skipped a beat. He knew instantly he was going to do whatever it took to keep that smile on your face for as long as possible. He didn’t care what he would have to do.

He smiled once more, and he turned to his buddies to shield his face from you. He didn’t want you to see how red it was turning. He proceeded to explain to them how perfect his stars were and how no one could top them. Something along the lines of “Bro, you have to see this one, it’s so perfect bro…” He also told them how he made you feel better while slapping his chest, for some reason, as in yeah, I made the mopiest girl in school smile. He sounded like he was priding himself on it.

His smile, the way he talked about you, those freaking stars. You’d let him draw those all over your arm instead any day.

At that age, you may not have known why there were letters in algebra, but you knew that the way he made you feel wasn't the same as you did with your two other crushes back in middle school. This just felt...absolutely weird.

But absolutely right.

And that’s the story of how at just fourteen years old, you knew you were absolutely screwed.

yes, i think harry and luna makes more sense than harry and ginny. hear me out

ok so before any hinny shippers get me, please hear me out. a lot of points might be unjustified but only because jk rowling is a shit written and wrote a lot of horrible tropes. but anyways, let’s continue.

let me start off with harry as a character. harry has always been rather opposed to the fame he receives, and hates when people pay him attention only for the purpose of him being The Boy Who Lived. he always feels rather shut off from the world, even though he clearly has people on his side. you can tell he wishes everyone would just look past his legacy and see him for him. hermione and ron do that most of the time, but still do fall into the trap of seeing The Boy Who Lived first. a lot of people do, and it’s quite understandable as that’s the first thing you notice about harry. but anyways harry is just a boy who wants nothing but to been seen as anything but that. moving on to his personality, he’s very hotheaded and very opinionated, and never lets his opinions falter. he of course has a lot of built up anger over the way people have treated him his whole life. he struggles with people just not understanding him the way he longs for someone to. he wants to seen as an ordinary dude who has emotions just like anyone else, simple as that.

now let’s look at ginny as a character. ginny is a very nice girl who’s an enjoyable person to be around. she’s confident, outgoing, funny, and can bring a good energy to room as all eyes automatically go to her. she’s quite popular as she’s extremely pretty, automatically pushing her up the food chain of hogwarts. also, being on the quidditch team helps with the popularity. so naturally, attention follows her. she’s your stereotypical perfect-girl, which isn’t at all a bad thing as most stories need that girl. the one thing i will say that bugs me about ginny is her judgefulness, especially when it came to fleur. now of course this is just plainly jk rowling’s internal misogyny and pick-girl writing style, but it still is ginny, unfortunately. ginny feels like a person who can be quick to judge a situation for what it is rather than accessing it first. and that isn’t exactly a positive trait.

ginny and harry definitely have a lot of similarities and get along extremely well. they both love quidditch, both are hotheaded and opinionated, and overall have a lot of the same personality traits. most importantly, they share the trauma of being controlled and tormented by voldemort. this is a very big thing to share in common, and is most likely why harry can confide in ginny. but, all the similarities can create a dynamic where they butt heads a lot as you do when someone is so similar to yourself. i know personally when i meet people who are a lot like me, we tend to butt heads more often than not. i can definitely get along with those people though, and have great friendships. it’s just anything beyond that wouldn’t work in my opinion. and that’s why harry and ginny sometimes makes me scratch my head a bit. harry and ginny did work in the books because they were always written to be together. but if we think from a realistic standpoint, it wouldn’t have worked at all. similar trauma would definitely create a bond, but now in a way that could be romantically. you are welcome to disagree all you’d like, but i just simply can wrap my head around it.

moving onto luna as a character. luna is a very freeing character who does as she pleases and doesn’t let others people’s harsh opinions affect her and her hobby’s. people have always talked down on luna, and separated her based on what they see on the surface. they first see her as “loony lovegood” because it’s what their first reaction is. i can see at first seeing her as a bit odd, as she does talk about things that are out of the ordinary. but if you look beyond that, she’s so much more. she’s extremely intelligent (hence the ravenclaw), and has such an open mind that anything seems possible to her. with having such an open mind, she’s willing to see situations as they truthfully are, and would never wrongfully judge as she never enjoys when it happens to her. she listens to people, because she knows she’d appreciate if people listened to her. with this comes her calming demeanor that could especially help when someone’s in a state of panic or is just riled up. luna is a very fluid character who can very relaxing to be around.

harry and luna would more realisticly work, in my personal opinion. if they had been written to be together from the start, more people would agree with any opinions regarding harry and luna. but jk rowling being the shit writer she is, she would rather see the main character get together with the perfect girl with seemingly no flaws on the surface, rather than the girl who clearly does have flaws but is more realistic. ginny was written as jk rowling’s projection, clearly representing what she so desperately wanted to be. if she had just written characters as they should be, ginny would an even better character than she already is.

but anyways, harry and luna. harry and luna relate on many different that in the long run matter a lot more than you might realize. harry and luna have always been objectified for things they have no control over. harry for being The Boy Who Lived, and luna for being herself. they’ve both been on the receiving ends of weird stares and harsh words. hogwarts has seemingly created a lot more problems for them than anything, yet they still manage to find more redeeming qualities than anything. especially with found families. harry and luna both know what’s it like to lose a parent, and what that sort of thing does to you. no one else they know have gone through that, making it hard to connect with others on that level. they’re able to understand each other, and sympathize for each other without it being pity because they know how it feels. and i think this shows when luna comforts harry after sirius dies. she knows the feeling, and makes harry feel known and understood, something he constantly needs from people. he needs people to see him on a personal level, and see him beyond his fame, and see him as harry, a ordinary boy who has just had unfortunate things happen to him. i think luna really gets that feeling, hence why she’s able to make harry feel more comforted about sirius’s death. luna generally has a calming effect, and it works extremely well for harry, who desperately needs a person capable of doing that. luna can see straight though him, and can sense when he’s feeling down and lying about being fine. not many people tell him they can see through him, rather just believing when he says he fine and leaves it alone. luna is very straightforward, and sometimes harry does need that. yet she doesn’t pry for information. she’ll tell him she knows he’s not fine, but she’ll let it go rather that press on him for details. harry is always appreciative of people who don’t pry for details, but when someone can see past your facade yet still give you the space you need, it helps a great deal. especially someone like harry who is only ever looked at from the surface. he’s seen as an object rather than a person. but luna never does that. luna never looks at him as The Boy Who Lived, she looks at him like he’s an normal boy who she just happens to go to school with. harry can talk to luna with fear of being seen just for fame, and can obviously talk to luna without being bothered. people generally avoid luna, and realistically, harry would find comfort in that. harry enjoys when he escapes the fame, and can be normal. luna is one of few people he can be like that with. hence why i would assume harry finds more comfort in that than what’s written in the book. i always take everything in those books with a grain of salt, and this is one thing that i think otherwise on. if these books were more better written, harry would naturally find comfort in someone he can lay low with and find peace with. someone who understands him and wouldn’t turn their back on him. luna is that person. all throughout the books, luna is constantly standing behind harry, never for one second leaving him behind. in the 5th book, she reassures harry that she certainly believes harry and has no reason not to. she also helps harry tell people his truth by putting his interview with rita skeeter in the quibbler. that’s a very important thing for harry, as not many people would be willing to do that big of thing for him, especially during that period of everyone accusing him of being a liar. luna also constantly stands behind harry in the 6th and 7th books. she asks a lot of times if the DA will ever meet again, showing she’s willing to meet again if harry ever speaks the words. after almost getting caught the previous, people might not want to return to the DA so willinging as luna seems to. and in the 7th book, she stands behind him too, comforting him when dobby dies, casting those patronuses when seen harry in danger, and when she offered to cause a distraction so harry could get some privacy after the final battle.

luna is a very strong support system, and never falters her support. this is very important for someone like harry, who a lot of times gets a nagging feeling that people are going to leave him, which is understandable for the life he’s lived. luna is the definition of a ride or die. now an argument i see a lot is harry wouldn’t be good enough for luna. if we look at it canon wise, then yes, i might agree. but that’s simply because he wasn’t written to be romantically involved with luna, hence why it does seem he would be not be good enough for her. if he had been written to be interested in her, it would appear totally different. i mean canon does show us he does care for her and doesn’t think poorly of her. he clearly always appreciates her kind gestures, and he clearly enjoys her presence enough to invite her along to the slughorn christmas party. he wouldn’t have invited her if he didn’t like and care for her, simple as that. if a romance was written and developed between them, things would look a lot better than they do when we look at canon. i personally hate most canon things, so i simply ignore certain canon aspects a lot of times. most importantly being harry being an auror and settling down with ginny. the auror part being because he doesnt like attention from a lot of people, and isn’t ever really shown to be enjoying fighting dark wizards. personally if i had been hunted down by dark wizards my whole life i wouldn’t go into a profession where i’d often be fighting them, but that’s just me i guess. and settling down with ginny just for the fact that usually high school sweethearts don’t make it far out of high school, and i also don’t see ginny wanting to settle down so early in her life. like c’mon, does ginny weasley honestly seem like the type to settle down at the age of 22 or 23? not really. ginny wouldn’t willing give up a professional quidditch career for some kids, let’s be real here. in a most realistic setting, i see harry laying low for a while, living a peaceful life where he doesn’t have to have people constantly prodding him because of his fame. and luna obviously would never settle down early either. they’re similar in that retrospect, and had they been together, would probably live in a cottage where they don’t have many neighbors. i also see them traveling and just enjoying the peacefulness of seeing new things and finding the joy in the simple things. it’s something that would be so important for harry and could truly help with his recovery, because him not having any mental health problems is so painfully unrealistic. and luna would be wonderful for improving his mental health, as she understands him and can see straight through him. also, she’d bring him out of his comfort zone into things he’d never though he’d find himself doing, but enjoying nonetheless. he needs someone to bring out a different side to him, and show him all the different possibilities life has to offer, people i can easily see harry have troubling with seeing the light in life after everything he’s been through.

i’m definitely rambling at this point so let me conclude : i love ginny to pieces, she’s one of my absolute favorite characters. but with the careless way she was written, and the unrealistic terms in which her and harry’s relationship was written under, i can’t help but see harry and luna being a more realistic match.

Ayama POV

My alarm starts going off. I groan at it then shut it off. It's was a Sunday. I was wondering why I turned it on. I lied in my bed for a bit then it hit me. I wanted to torture myself today. By going on a walk on the beach.

I felt four paws on my thigh. "Morning, Nebula." I said. "Meow" "I'll get up." I told her. I stretched a bit. I took my bonnet off and got out the bed.

Once my feet hit the carpet. I walk towards my closest and pick out something simple and plain. I then went in the bathroom and set my clothes down on the counter and closed the door.

I got undress and put my shower cap on. And got in the shower. Once I was done in the bathroom. I walk out wearing a black tank top, a black crop top hoodie that I could only wear if I have a tank top under it. And black leggings.

I walked back into my room and went straight back to sleep. I woke up about 10 minutes later. Leo woke me up this time. "Okay, Okay." I sighed.

Knowing my dad already went out the house to help the other pro heroes with the exam that coming up tomorrow. I turn on the TV in my room, but all I found was news channel or ads talking about the exam.

I turned it off and went downstairs to get cereal not wanting to make pancakes or french toast. I pass a picture of my mother and father.

I stopped to look at it for awhile. I've seen some pictures of my mother. The rest are kept somewhere in my father's room.

She's Afro-Asian. She passed away when I was 3. I never met my grandpa or my grandmother from my mother side. They're villians after all.

I seen my mother's family members in Texas and some in California. We visit them sometimes whenever it's a holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving. I've also seen my dad's family members other than his sister. He never told me why she not in my life. And tellsl me it best if I don't meet her.

Anyways, my mother's hair is natural black(or very very dark brown that looks black). Her hair was long and wavy in the first picture. Our hair same the same features. Our hair type can and it grows fast after a week or two. Her eyes were like mine, but her eyes colorare lavender and mines lilac.

Her skin is dark brown and it's very beautiful. I can't help but admire her. She also has some yellow sparkle across her face. They looked like stars. It's apart of one of her Quirks. Her eyes color and lavender.

She had four dark brown gazelle horns on her head and her gazelle ears were showing. Her body was well mature. I guess like mine though I never really care about my shape really. She has two of her horns wavy and the other two curly wrapping around the other white horns.

Her costume in the third was her in a long sleeve black crop top and black pants with gold medal plates around the rims of them. Her high combat boots were black. And finally she had a gold medal choker around her neck with the sun symbol in the middle of it.

(Considering her Quirks she doesn't really need a bold hero outfit.)

In the second picture her hair is long and was in a kinky fro she didn't show her horns. Despite her time being alive she was one of the top number ten heroes. I walked away from the picture to go eat.

"Leo! Nebula!" I watch the two come into the kitchen and go to their bowls. Turns out it was already filled. They just wanted me with them.

From what my Dad told me. He got them for my mom when it was her birthday. So the cats been in my life the moment they brought me home.

I keep thinking about the exam tomorrow. I wonder who I would see. Once I was done eating I decided to clean the house. I did every room but my dad's.

I decided to go down to the beach, because I don't want to stay in the house all day and game. I text my dad and inform him about my whereabouts.

I put 20 dollar into my phone case and put my phone in my pocket. And went near the door to put my shoes on.

Now that I'm here. I'm just going walk along the shore. Although it strange to be wearing this on a hot day. I honestly don't really care. I have my reasons.

I walk towards the beach and decided to walk along the shore. While doing that I saw Izuku jogging along the shore. Geeze he grown a lot. "Izuku!" I shouted. It doesn't seem like he can hear me so I tried calling out to him one more time. He didn't so I followed him.

I see him almost out of breath. "I finish what you asked." He said while breathing heavily. I look up to see he was talking to. I saw Uncle All Might, but I didn't say anything, because I didn't want to say about me being relate to my dad.

"Oh hey n-Ayama!" And that was a close call. "Wait?... Ayama!" Izuku shouts. "I been calling your name for the last minute." I spoke. I saw him blush a bit, but I ignore it. Not really sure why.

"Wait is it okay for her to see you like this?" He ask my uncle All Might. "Oh yeah. Before you I had told her about it, but she turned it down saying I should give to someone who doesn't have a quirk." He told him.

"Oh so that means you also know about 'The one for all' Right?" Izuku ask me. "That right, freckles." I giggled. "Freckles? BAHAHA!" Uncle All Might laugh blood coming out of his mouth.

Izuku was freaking out about it. I seen this before but I was just gross out. "Alright you can take a break. Oh by the way can you me a popsicle?" He asked me. "Sure."

"Come on Izuku! We have a lot of catching up to do." I shouted. He rush up to me as we went to the small market near the beach. Which lead you back to the roads and sidewalks.

We were talking about what the news were talking about. "I wish I could've been with you guys. Mostly to tell Katsuki to stop." I said with guilt.

"It's nothing to be guilty about." He said reassuring me. "To make it up to you can get what ever you want from the market just try not to go overboard." I said.

"Ayama you don't have to." He said waving his hands. "I insist." I tell him. "Your kindness never change a bit Ayama." He said. He right and that was a bad thing in middle school, but it not like it ever left me. I got myself a soda, Izuku got a chocolate mint ice cream bar, and I got uncle All Might a ice pop of himself.

"That would be 4 dollars, Ms." The cashier tells me. I paid her. She gave me my chain back. I thank her we both left walking back towards my uncle.

"So I'm guessing after today your finally getting your quirk."I said. He nodded while holding the bag in his hand.

"Oh I'd never asked you what are your quirk?" He asked me. "I have two of them, but their both complicated." I said. "Oh I see." He said. "Don't worry you'll get to see me in action at the exams." I cheer him up. Once we got the spot again.

"I want to be surprised that you're eating a popsicle of your self, but I'm not." I sighed. "It a hot day. I have every right." My uncle said. Leaving me and Izuku giggling and snickering. "Hey! What's so funny?!"

They went back to training and I decided to help uncle out with training. The fun part was Midoriya going on his back while doing push up. "I'm sorry Midoriya." I muttered. I spent almost the whole day with them. It was about 7:00pm

"Welp I better get going." I said. Me grabbing my soda bottle. "I'm guessing I'll see you at the exam?" I asked him. My uncle interrupt him "Oh yeah definitely!" I just sighed. "See you later Midoriya!" I shouted waving at them both.

I while walking towards my house I notice a teenager with ash blond hair that was spiky but looked soft. "I wonder if that could be... No. I doubt he would even remember me."

'Well that was a fast walk.' Dad's Car was park in the driveway, so that meant he has came back. I open the door and then lock it behind me. I took my shoes off and left them at the door. "Lyric." My dad spoke. I jumped a bit. "Oh hey Dad." I said. "You seem lost in thought." He said.

"Oh yeah just a song came in my head. Although the melody was a bit strange." I spoke. "But who's know when I'll be using it." I shrugged my shoulders while walking towards the kitchen to go sit at the dinner table. It's was quite, but comfortable. I was just lost in my mind.

I got up from the dinner table and went towards the kitchen sink. That melody it sounded familiar, but I never heard it before.

I felt a hit on my hand. "Ouch, Dad!" I whined. "Next time, pay attention." He sighed. "What do you- Oh." I saw the dish I washing now broken in half.

"My bad." I mutter throwing it away in the trash. "Alright what was the lyric this time?" He ask. This isn't the first time this has happened. "Help me when I'm at a loss for words. Bring up all of my memories for the please and the temporal." I said.

"Don't give it too much though. If you go to sleep You'll have nothing to worry about." He said. He always does that. Brushes it off like it's nothing. "Alright, night Dad." I said.

"Good night and good luck tomorrow." He said. That right he won't be here when I wake up. I took a quick shower got into my PJs setting an alarm on my phone to wake up at 6:00am.

"I'm going to get a new bonnet. I can't stand this one. It's always falling off." I muttered.

The moment I closed my eyes. I saw someone with long wavy natural black hair and two gazelle brown horns and ears. I woke up and got out of bed and went straight downstairs to look at my mom's photos.

"I thought I told you to go to bed." My dad said. "Technically, you suggested it." I said. I'm still looking at my mother pictures.

"Bed. And I mean it." He said strictly. "Alright, alright." I said. Going straight to bed this time got it. I look at the clock it was 8:30pm.

"Just one question. Why do I have to go to bed this early?" [Ayama]

"Because you'll end up like me if you don't." [Aizawa]

Winx Club Season 5 Thoughts Part 2

Part 1 is here.

5x14:

- I thought there was a musical performance coming up but nope. I can do with cleaning up a beach instead. I like it. And they’re sorting the trash as they pick it up? That’s actually super thoughtful. They have their moments.

- Icy and Tritannus are disgusting. And not because they’re cute and I hate cute like Stormy does. It’s because they’re cringy.

- So is Tritannus just gonna have Daphne floating around after him until the end of the season?

- Sooooo... there’s a throne that can give you ultimate power over the whole dimension and it’s just chilling there in the middle of the Infinite Ocean? That seems incredibly illogical and stupid to me. Who has access to the Infinite Ocean again? I know Sirenix got cursed but that was about 20 years ago. What was going on before that? Surely, Daphne couldn’t have been the only Sirenix fairy. And what if one of the fairies with Sirenix decided to just sit on the throne and take the power? This is just... an incredibly stupid and undeveloped concept even by Winx’ standards.

- Again, I have no idea why Daphne warned him at all. Just let the curse make everyone’s jobs easier and get rid of him. (I thought only the Trix had Sirenix, though, because he doesn’t look different after he got it and him being drained by the throne seems to support the idea that his powers are all coming from the pollution he consumes.) Also, how very convenient for him that there is a singular cell right there next to the Emperor’s Throne. ‘Cause any part of this makes any sense.

- Okay, they just vanished matter again. And yeah, we’ve established there is no logic to that but maybe it would have been a better idea to have all that trash recycled? So that it could have been used again? That would have been more eco friendly as it saves resources.

- Aww, poor Stella! Yes, the dress of carrots was definitely too impractical to be worn on a daily basis and also a potential hazard if it draws animals to you but I still feel bad for her. At least she was trying to do something good. And if she adapts her strategy a little and uses some magic she could really succeed in her mission and make clothing more ecological. I have a feeling that they are only writing her making horrible designs on purpose to give the appearance of some arc for her character. We all know season 1-3 Stella would have done so much better with her designs.

- Okay, Brandon did not handle that talk at all but I appreciate the fact that he was honest at the very least instead of just saying what Stella wants to hear from him. It was certainly hard for both of them but that is how relationships should be - honest.

- Yes, they just rationalized that all the garbage might draw in Tritannus but the moment they see a purple tornado it doesn’t click that that is Stormy. Because purple tornadoes are totally natural on Earth.

- The Trix look even worse in the 2D style while Winx look somewhat better than they do in 3D.

- Seriously, tell me how Winx are gonna defeat that tornado. Stormy could probably tear apart the whole planet with the power she’s packing here. And Tritannus, Icy and Darcy haven’t even lifted a finger yet.

- Yeah, it took all six of Winx to handle only Stormy’s powers so the evil group will just leave. It’s not like they appear stronger and probably have chances to win this.

- Love how everyone’s observation skills are going through a meltdown.

- Tritannus is ruthless and I have to say that I love that. I’m sick of the villains just leaving Winx alone without doing all the damage they possibly could just because the plot needs it to be so. Even here he could have made the mutants attack them and he didn’t but at least he used them as leverage so it’s better.

- Layla’s reaction was a little over the top in the Infinite Ocean but I am glad that they are showing her to be so upset about her relatives even though it’s extended family. We don’t see enough familial relationships on Winx.

- Please, tell me Tritannus will get the power of the Throne. Otherwise, they shoved all the nonsense surrounding it in here for nothing. And that will be a bigger challenge for Winx.

5x15:

- Love how in season 3 every Winx girl had a different swimming technique but now they are all swimming in the same way.

- Where is this problem coming out of all of a sudden? Stella had no issue firing at Tritannus in the previous episode. They’re just doing it to manufacture drama because otherwise, she would have the power to save her father from the beginning of the episode and they wouldn’t have an episode.

- They gave Layla a sword. Good. Best decision they’ve made all season.

- Love that Darcy and Stormy are thinking about what their role is here.

- Who thought the selkies could protect anything? They can’t even protect themselves.

- I love that they showed a couple of worlds but we only really saw the effect of the eclipse on Andros and Solaria.

- Radius has never been that much of an asshole (not that we’ve seen that much of him). He seems totally out of character here and I hate to admit that there is some logic to him being ruled by pride since he is legit standing in for the sun. I love the fact that both Stella and Luna were super worried about him, though, and instantly came to help.

- Omg, their hair changing colors is so not necessary or relevant rn. Wish they would just leave it alone.

- Layla roasting Tritannus that he’s letting Icy do all his fighting was absolute peak! I’m here for it!

- Okay, so there was literally no reason why Stella’s light didn’t work at the beginning of the episode but did at the end and it only made her seem more self-centered if anything because she only really put her will into fighting once she was directly affected. Not @ the way this season is not pulling off the emotional arcs at all.

- Wow, okay. Icy sacrificing herself for Tritannus was just... unexpected. Winx weren’t prepared either. I am glad that at least he had the decency to be mad that she’s hurt and appreciate what she did for him.

- Aww, Luna is absolutely precious and I love her already!

- Couldn’t have Bloom used her fire to the same effect that Stella used her light? And Layla could have totally used her morphix to cover them and make sure they won’t be hit. They didn’t just have to stand there and be useless.

5x16:

- Why did I hear Layla say pillow instead of pillar? I think I might need to go to bed (it’s like 5am).

- Nature kick? Nature KICK???????? They gave Flora an attack that’s inherently violent? What the hell were they thinking? That has never been her style so why start now?

- “I’d do anything for you, Tritannus.” Yes, including abandoning your sisters. Nice one, Icy!

- I knew it that the two mutants Layla freed would be Nereus and Tressa. No way can we have any adults here.

- It’s interesting that convergence didn’t work. There’s an intriguing implication in that somewhere but it’s too late to unpack it now.... Okay, now that I am awake (and have watched the rest of the episodes), let’s see what I get out of this. The Pillar needed light which is something tangible and physical unlike the other two Pillars so the convergence didn’t work because Stella is the only one whose powers are about light. I like the implication here and they could have done something interesting with it, not to mention implement some rules when it comes to convergence at the very least.

- Stella just singlehandedly powered all the suns in the Magic Dimension. That is the most powerful thing we have seen anyone do on this show. I love her so much!

- Aww, I feel so bad for Stella! I am crying over here. And seriously, why is Radius being so prickly here? He wasn’t like that in season 3. Stella was even ready to let them ignore her if it would mean that they could also ignore the budding argument. This is hurting her so much and it’s hurting me as well!

- Aww, Kiko really wanted to cheer Stella up so badly! He’s adorable.

- Was Erendor the one suggesting that they unite their powers? Wow, I am just shocked. Also, kinda amused that Faragonda managed to make them all shut up even though they are all more “important” than she is.

- So why is Diaspro on Eraklyon? She was supposed to be banished. But no, we need more stupid drama. I see that Erendor at least is back to his prickliness. And yes, I totally have to agree with Samara that he just made an awful mistake. Giving Diaspro the authority to speak in his name is a rash and reckless decision in general. After she mind controlled Sky? Absolute madness,

- Wizgiz looks so weird without his hat.

- What is so hard to figure out about the “fight fire with fire” expression? But they did a pretty good job regardless.

- Of course, there is Diaspro drama even when she and Sky don’t have any kind of personal relations anymore. But still, I don’t think Bloom should be so affected by it because she was told it was for his royal duties. (and since the meeting is held on Domino, she could totally be there as well) It is frustrating but it’s still better than what has happened with Diaspro before.

5x17:

- Omg, Daphne is pushing herself to her limits in the name of saving everyone. Meanwhile, what does she get in return? Tortured by both Stormy and Tritannus, vaguely ignored by her sister and the show won’t even let her parents show concern for her (not that they can save her now that she is in the Infinite Ocean but they could have tried in 5x13).

- Why is Kiko sleeping so far off the ground? That is dangerous. He could roll off the pillow in his sleep and fall... Or Bloom could send him flying through the room when she tosses in her sleep. Poor bunny.

- Eye of Inspiration? Wow, okay.

- Weren’t there four pillars? Why only three seals? And Pillar of Control and Pillar of Balance? What the hell? Light is at least tangible. But control and balance? What the hell?

- I can’t believe that Icy would turn on Darcy and Stormy because of a guy. This is so stupid and I hate it.

- When are the selkies going to learn that they are useless and the best idea would be to hide and go look for someone who actually stands a chance against Tritannus?

- The moon thing was some serious level of bullshit. Like, I get that it looks all fairytale-y and magic-y and shit but when you look at it from a logical point of view, it’s just a fucking mess. You’re telling me that just looking down at the well releases some magic? What the hell? Even if you take their Sirenix into account, this is still weird. (The room made of water was cool, though). Oh, and a map of the Infinite Ocean. How convenient. Because Alfea has all the answers.

- Wow, Mike and Vanessa are actually gonna clean that whole trash island up? I am in awe of their determination.

- Okay, so where the hell are the fairies of Earth? It would make sense for them to take action against Tritannus. He is hurting the planet directly and is also a major threat that needs to be dealt with. They should have been involved now that their kingdom was reinstated.

- Well, Stella is still feisty even when she’s sleep deprived. Also, I see they have no problem using their Sirenix powers now. I am so sick of them using convergence, though. Wish they’d do something more creative.

- I honestly wish Tritannus will get rid of the selkies permanently because they are that annoying.

- Seriously? Tritannus knows that they can follow him in the Infinite Ocean but he just... thought they wouldn’t find him? He should know better by now. And Layla was weird too because they know where he will be going. They can find him. Also, another convergence? Come. On!

5x18:

- What took Tritannus so long to show up? He was right there with the Trix. I do like the critique on Icy’s long hair that this was. Like, girl is aesthetic as hell but long hair could def be very dangerous.

- I am actually on Icy and Tritannus’ side here because the selkies are boring me to tears.

- Here’s an idea for you - instead of Daphne sacrificing every last bit of strength and vitality she has, maybe the Winx could figure something out on their own for a change.

- Ugh, the ugly dresses again. Classic, my ass. Ungodly hideous suits it better.

- Really not @ the way Marion’s throne is smaller than Oritel’s. Like, Erendor and Samara’s thrones were the same size but you’re telling me that Marion and Oritel’s are different implying that he has more power? Yeah, no. Fuck that idea. I like the third throne, though. What a shame Daphne isn’t there to fill her rightful place.

- I am so sick of the Diaspro drama that they are shoving in this even now.

- Oh, look! Roy is also there. How else are we gonna know that he is a Big DealTM? You know? Obviously someone that Layla should date.

- See, Marion is even the one leading this whole assembly. Though, my guess is that that would be because the union is her idea and Oritel agreed (probably a little begrudgingly). Of course, everyone else has to be a royal and prideful idiot about this. (I guess it was Theredor in 5x16 that suggested that they unite and not Erendor which would definitely make more sense). But yes, Winx are facing the consequences of what happens when everyone has a vote and you need consensus. Nothing gets fucking done. For once it actually looks plausible that Winx are more effective than any of the adults because they make up their minds quickly. Usually to a common stupid idea but they are certainly doing better than all the royals at this assembly.

- If the dragon is totally untamed, how is Codatorta riding it? This does not make sense to me. And I thought they would be learning strategy.

- Not @ the way Radius was being condescending to Stella. But I like the fact that she got through to him. She is gonna be a precious queen!

- I have to side with Diaspro because Bloom and Sky literally thought it to be a good idea to just leave the assembly and go deal with their teenage romance bullshit. Fucking responsible adults you are. Oh, yeah, sure. When she’s actually needed, she can’t leave all of a sudden and she’ll let the others do everything.

- Well, Winx are recklessly courageous, I will give them that. I hate how instantly they need their lessons, though. They learn something and it comes in handy the same day. What if something had happened, and they hadn’t had the lesson? They would be toast. Honestly, the levels of convenience because they don’t trust the audience to remember what happened in the episodes before that is just insane. It would have been better to have a couple of episodes between learning a skill and having to use it.

- Oh, wow! They noticed the pollution? I can’t believe it! Finally! This episode is actually treating me better. If they’d let the selkies become snacks and let Bloom take some responsibility, it would have been good. Now it isn’t half bad.

- This makes zero sense because Erendor and Oritel aka Eraklyon and Domino did have an alliance against the Ancestral Witches. And considering Erendor feeling guilty for betraying that alliance, it would make sense for him to join this one to fix his mistake back then or at least not repeat it. Only possible explanation for his behavior that I can think of is that Eraklyon is actually in a crisis and their defenses are in pretty bad shape so he doesn’t want the others to know that. But that still leaves them defenseless against a potential attack. This is stupid. I mean, his pride is obviously an explanation in and of itself but it is also the definition of stupid.

5x19:

- Why is Erendor so dense? If they defend the Pillars, Tritannus will be easier to beat without the power he will get if he destroys the Pillars. It is a simple deduction.

- Aww! This scene with Riven and Musa is so adorable! He was actually enjoying the music so much and Musa opened up about her mother. That was actually precious.

- Wow, they really tried hard to tie the balance thing to the sea and to music.

- Oh, man! Please, tell me Riven didn’t just run away like that because he got uncomfortable with emotions... Oh, wait! I get it now. He is planning a surprise for her and needs the help of this other girl, I believe it is the same one whose guitar playing skills he was admiring when Musa got all jealous for no fucking reason whatsoever. And they are making stupid drama again.

- Oh, come on! I have to stand Bloom and Sky stupid drama as well on top of the other one?!?!?! I hate this. Also, when will Bloom understand that she can’t be the center of Sky’s universe. She may not care about her royal duties but he was at least raised with some sense of responsibility towards his title. And what does Bloom do? Use her title to rub Diaspro’s nose in her victory on the Sky matter and then she just starts weeping over Sky wanting to talk to his father instead of dealing with the more important shit!

- You’d think that those Pillars would be better protected considering how fucking important they are. Also, aren’t the writers tired of making innocent mermaids on Andros suffer?

- They’re actually making a plan? And it’s a decent one? I can’t believe it!

- At least Tritannus goes back for Icy every time. Not that that’s gonna last but if she’s gonna ditch Darcy and Stormy, it’d better be worth it at least a little.

- Loved Bloom’s magical punch but the slow mo of Layla’s kick really does it a big disservice.

- Why did he throw his trident? That was idiotic. Layla going up in his face so that he could grab it back was also idiotic as hell so I guess they are equally stupid to balance each other out. Could have just blasted him with the trident and get it over with but noooooo. They have to make dumb choices.

- O. M. G! Darcy and Stormy got the whales? That was... so fucking AWESOME!!!! I was worried that them disappearing would actually fuck them over because Tritannus would get mad at them but they actually come back with the whales? Epic. Also, this makes me think that they are at least partially responsible for the chaos going on because Musa said it is the whales that keep the balance and Darcy just hypnotized them. I am so proud of my girl! *happy sob* Her powers really are just so badass in this season.

5x20:

- Seriously? This episode is titled “The Problems of Love” because of all the Sky and Bloom bullshit that will be in it (possibly Riven and Musa and even Tritannus and Icy as well)? Because THAT is the most important thing going on now.

- Okay, so Icy isn’t impressed by what Stormy and Darcy did for her? Girl, you need to wake the fuck up. I do love the energy of Darcy and Stormy just being evil sisters together and fucking shit up, though.

- So why did the rest of Winx not go to the Pillar while Musa was dealing with the whales? Also, didn’t they try the convergence on the Pillar of Light? It didn’t work. Why do they think it will work now? Oh, it actually did. Of course. Because balance. THE SYMBOLISM IS STRONG.

- Really not a fan of the way they have chopped the episodes in favor of suspense instead of in favor of every episode having a completed mini arc.

- Okay, so Musa is mature enough to know that bringing her mother back from the dead will mess with the natural flow of things but she can’t trust Riven just a tad bit more.

- So did Stella and Brandon make up? Last time we saw anything about them Stella said she hated them which she obviously didn’t mean but still. That was just left hanging there.

- Can they all leave Tecna alone? She and Timmy are happy with the way things are. If it works for them, then that’s the only thing that matters. And Musa projecting her relationship drama onto Tecna was just the worst. Glad at least Tecna trusts Timmy implicitly.

- Okay, so did Diaspro think this through? Of course, she didn’t. Once Sky learns what she’s done, she will probably get in trouble. I say probably because Erendor is kinda on her side here so it’s not all that certain. But in any case, she will make Sky resent her more. So still not a good idea.

- Bloom doesn’t have patience to wait for a minute. She knows Sky is busy and has a lot of things to do. She could just calm down a little and not expect him to respond to her every summons.

- Oh, my god! She really thinks that she is more important than a royal meeting. You are fucking yourself over and I wouldn’t give a damn if your stupid relationship drama wasn’t 50% of this godforsaken show.

- Sky should turn his phone off and Bloom should just get some fucking perspective. I know she’s used to being the center of the world but she needs to get her priorities straight as well. She should be looking for Daphne instead of being a fucking idiot over there. They know about the Emperor’s Throne. And if they have a map of the Infinite Ocean, they should know where it is. Just go there and confront Tritannus instead of waiting for him to keep stealing seals! How hard can it be? But of course, you need to have your head in the game, not in your bullshit relationship.

- My god, even ethereal beings like the guardians of Sirenix were dragged into this shit. At least that gave effect. And Bloom admitted she is the problem. I can’t believe it! Actual character development. Of course, I don’t expect it to stick until the next episode so it won’t matter but still.

- Umm... the wind should be carrying the pollen away from the flowers. It can’t carry pollen to them if the pollen comes from them. The wind can only carry it away. That is basically the idea of pollen. To get carried away.

- Omg, I am so tired of Stella’s interest in fashion fucking everything up. They’re making her incompetent and ignorant of everything else on purpose. Also, why can’t they fly? That was just out of nowhere.

5x21:

- They each have a special Sirenix spell? Was that concept introduced before or did it just show up now? I don’t think they’d said anything about that, though it would have been nice in the episode where Stella was having issues but later found the way to fix the Pillar of Light.

- I just wish they would leave Tecna and Timmy alone. Besides, they don’t have to go on a “real” and “romantic” date in order to be face to face. They can just chill on the couch and talk about what THEY want.

- Did Helia just tell Timmy to “man up”? You know what would be “manning up”? Getting over your egoistical impulses to meddle in everyone’s lives because you think you know best. At least Riven is being honest.

- What happened to just being yourself? Tecna and Timmy are already into each other for who they are. They don’t need all of this not so good dating advice.

- Wow, Daphne is going for desperate measures here but she is making sense at the very least.

- I am getting second hand embarrassment over Tecna and Timmy’s date. Poor guys. They just need to be themselves.

- Well, they succeeded with the destruction of the seal. I would love to see Tritannus’ reaction as well.

- Aww, at least Tecna and Timmy got to have a good end to their disastrous date.

5x22:

- I am so sick of Tritannus and Icy always repeating that they’ll be the emperor and empress once the Throne is complete. We get it, okay? No need to say it over and over again. I have a feeling they’re only doing that because they don’t actually have anything else to talk about.

- Omg, I thought this shit with Crystal and Helia was over. How much longer? Why is this even happening? I am so exasperated rn. At least Crystal is not like Diaspro. Even though the show tried to strongly suggest the similarity between them.

- Can they stop jumping to conclusions? Like, Flora legit saw Helia interact with Crystal for three seconds and it wasn’t him that threw himself at her. Flora is always trying to be polite so she should think that it’s possible that Helia is doing the same. Also, love how her insecurity stems from doubts in herself but that will never be resolved ever because no one gets proper arcs anymore.

- How is the king’s decision rational? It’s bullshit.

- Why the hell would droids function better in cold weather. How does that make sense?

- It would have been more interesting if Tritannus had destroyed the whole Pillar and they had to rebuild it from scratch. That might have needed more than convergence to fix and would have been a better challenge.

- Really? They have to fight the droids? That is the most predictable, most boring scenario that they could have come up with. Also, why isn’t there secondary defense against the droids? Like, just in case. No technology is infallible.

- I am confused. Is Tecna the princess of Zenith or not? Why does the king know her specifically if she’s not? Is it because she’s the guardian fairy of the planet? That could have been so much more interesting to see than any of this. A political discussion between him and the fairy that guards the whole planet. More worldbuilding.

- At least he changed his mind. I was hoping that would be the result of the mess with the droids.

- Aww, Tecna wished for Zenithians to feel empathy and connection! That is so precious. She has grown so much. Actually, this season hasn’t treated Tecna half bad. There were some golden opportunities that were missed but I actually like most of what they did do.

- Seriously? Sky sent a request for Bloom and she was still bitching about it? Honestly, that invitation for a diplomatic meeting could have been a cute thing where they get to both solve the issue with Eraklyon not wanting to join the alliance and their relationship drama. But no.

- I love Darcy and Stormy as a dynamic duo even if it pains me that Icy is treating them like that. But there is always place for her once she gets her mind back because she’s currently lost it.

5x23:

- I thought Politea was gonna be the plot of the third movie. But they’re bringing her in now? I am not sure I like this.

- Tritannus getting beaten down is a sight for sore eyes.

- Okay, I love this cute Bloom and Stella moment. Even if I am still not a fan of how they are giving Stella trouble with her designs because we all know that she is super good at what she does.

- Orrrrr... they could just use their Believix transformations and the Tracix wings to see the past. Though, those did seem to work only for the current location you’re at. And no past transformation is ever brought back.

- Why does Politea look like a brunette Bloom? Can they stop trying to make more of her? One is more than enough. Also, if Politea is a nymph as well, why does she look so plain compared to Daphne? We get it that Bloom and her whole family (and her whole planet) are all oh so special but this is ridiculous.

- Why the fuck did Politea refuse to help? If the Witches stole the power of the Infinite Ocean, she couldn’t get it for herself. Also, this is a blatant contradiction to everything we’ve been shown in the previous seasons. The witches grabbed Daphne and cursed her right after she opened the portal that sent Bloom to Earth, not in some battle for the Infinite Ocean.

- Didn’t Daphne say that Politea’s Sirenix turned evil because she turned evil? What the hell? And why would she turn into a monster when Daphne lost her body?????? I hate this.

- Oh, so Bloom’s going it alone now? Nice way to say she doesn’t think her friends can handle it because they aren’t as powerful as her. Wasn’t it exactly the fact that Politea refused to help Daphne that allegedly fucked them both over? Bloom should know better.

- Really? Icy didn’t dodge that? There’s a shitton of space in that underwater cave. She could have escaped in any direction. But no, she has to be dumb and get kicked. Lemme guess, Bloom went alone so that it could be a one on one against Icy and the writers could pretend there was any tension because that obviously wouldn’t have been the case if the rest of Winx were also there.

- So Politea just disappeared because that makes sense. Not like she’s a separate human being that was not formed by her Sirenix powers. And Darcy and Stormy are completely fine even though they absorbed an allegedly cursed Sirenix. And no one bothered finishing off Bloom just to make sure she would actually get finished off. How very convenient.

- Both Radius and Luna were at the assembly at Domino. Now they’re acting like 3-year-olds. I hate this so much. I can see why Stella is so done with their fighting. But I am so proud of her for talking to them and actually telling them how their behavior makes her feel. That was pretty mature of her. If only they could take her example and do the same and actually talk instead of just snapping at each other.

- Oh, and the teachers are at the fashion show as well? That’s cool.

- It’s actually cool that Stella didn’t wish her parents to get back together. She could have but that wouldn’t have been right since they don’t want that. Her wish is still a little questionable because their understanding of each other is not entirely their doing but, on the other hand, she wished that they would just listen to each other. Not necessarily agree. So I think it is actually okay.

- Awwww! It’s so cute from the rest of Winx to model Stella’s clothes!

- Lmaooo, Wizgiz is killing me in this episode. It’s cute how excited he is, though.

- I am so proud of Stella for what she said to (and about) Brandon. Now THAT was really mature of her. I loved it!

- Omg, Riven wrote a whole song for Musa! I knew that he would have a really cool surprise for her. Honestly, she doesn’t appreciate him as much as she should (when he’s not a jerk and he hasn’t been this season).

- But why is Roy with the Specialists? He’s not a part of their team. Please, stop acting like he has any place in this friend group. He’s an outsider and he’s never made any meaningful connections with any of them.

5x24:

- Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Dolphins are so precious!

- So Erendor did join the alliance at last? Not that they can agree on much still but at least they took the first step. Not @ the way the show keeps implying that Earth is the only planet that has pollution. And why did Flora decide to be dramatic before speaking?

- Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! The dolphins! Someone needs to stop him! He’s gonna destroy the precious dolphins!

- They actually made a joint decision? And Erendor fired Diaspro? Wow. WOW! I stan this episode. I just hope it won’t disappoint by the end. Oh, and here’s a prediction - Flora will earn her Sirenix wish this ep. Or Layla. But I think it will be Flora. (Bloom’s obv gonna be last.)

- Uggggh... Did a giant praying mantis just appear behind Stella and Layla? Why? Please no. (But that only makes me lean more in favor of Flora being the one to earn her wish this ep.)

- Oh, there’s more of them. I feel like all the “kick” spells of Sirenix were made specifically for the purpose of this episode.

- These shields couldn’t be any smaller. Sirenix spells are kinda lame, not gonna lie. Harmonix was much better in that regard (and more aesthetic even if impractical).

- Oh, yes. Don’t hurt the enormous bugs. The spell that is supposed to restore damaged environments will erase them out of existence instead. How is that better and why is Flora okay with it if she didn’t want the animals hurt?

- Is there anyone else in that task force besides the Specialists and the droids? You’re telling me that those are the only resources that the Magic Dimension can spare on the fight with what is currently the biggest threat to their existence? This is ridiculous.

- Luna can control the second sun of Solaria? I love that. I love her!

- So... Roy wasn’t even in danger. That’s so lame. I could have been on board with Layla saving him. And it would have been a nice parallel to their first meeting. Also, we have never seen them interact in order to care about any potential feelings between them. This is not how you make a relationship.

- Of course, Flora wouldn’t wish anything that tells us something new about her character. At this point nature and caring about it is the only personality trait she has (oh, and her doubts about her relationship with Helia). We can’t have anything else about her. Here’s something she could have wished for - that her sister can only ever die of natural death which could a) bring up the fact that she has a sister again and b) imply that she is still not over the fact that Miele almost died on her watch.

5x25:

- Omg, where is this sudden uncertainty about Helia coming from? Even though Crystal is not trying to take him from her. I wish this had been better set up at the very least. It could have been a great arc but we can’t have that, of course.

- Alfea has to be at least three times as big to host all the facilities we’ve seen it have in this season alone. I mean, come on!

- So now the mirror is a magical shoe designer? At least Stella’s wish to be with her parents was cute. But you’re telling me that all Layla wants right now is to dance with Roy? I call bullshit on that. She had zero time to recover from losing Nabu and I am so mad over this new “romance” being shoved at her out of the blue.

- Flora and Helia aren’t even gonna talk about this? Because the magical mirror solved the problem by showing what’s in her heart? I should have known this was going to happen.

- And why did Icy offer Layla instead of any of the other Winx? Because Layla has to be the strongest considering the nature of her powers aka she will be the hardest to capture. Though, it makes sense that the strongest will be the best fit to activate the Throne.

- So how did Nereus and Tressa go into the Infinite Ocean? Tritannus couldn’t before he stole Daphne’s Sirenix powers. So how did they manage without Sirenix?

- Why is Stella the one asking how to get rid of the mutants without hurting them when she was the one who managed to do exactly that in a previous episode? But, of course, they have forgotten all about previous episodes. Continuity? Don’t know her.

- How is the Breath of the Ocean summoning all the selkies? It was supposed to restore damaged environments. Now it suddenly has more functions because, of course, it does. It would be too much to want of them to figure out something else.

- Yes, I can see how they aren’t hurting the mutants. Not like knocking them out and possibly giving them concussions is hurting them. How could you think that?

- Oh, so Flora also has a “nature punch”? Are you kidding me?

- I see. They gave them all “punches” to compliment the “kicks” they already had. How very creative.

- You’d think that a prince would have been taught basic battle strategy and wouldn’t just turn his back on the enemy. But... obvious plot device to make Layla blow up and defeat Tritannus is obvious.

- Wow, they had to threaten Layla with losing someone else she cares about so that she couldn’t bring Nabu back to life and they could keep going with their stupid new romantic interest bullshit.

- Wait, wait, wait! Are you telling me that the selkies knew where the Throne was this whole time?!?!?!?! AND they didn’t lead Winx there even though it was obvious that was where Tritannus was? Because “we’re almost there” implies that Bloom’s selkie knows the way to the Throne. So why, pray tell, are they only going there now and didn’t use that to fight him before?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You know, when he still didn’t have everything he needed to activate the Throne?

- Did Tritannus get possessed by the power or something? This change in attitude is completely weird and really pissing me off because they could have actually done something decent with Icy and Tritannus’ relationship and the way it ended but they did not put a single thought in it. Anyway, I am glad Icy is back to her senses.

- Well, Musa looked like she was aiming at Roy which I wouldn’t mind all that much if it hadn’t been the middle of an important battle for which they needed him. But her magic waves didn’t affect him even though he was directly in their way so whatever.

- Now the whole palace is submerged. RIP to all the servants in there that didn’t have a tower to hide in and the Winx to save them.

- I actually love the idea of Winx interacting with the parents of the other Winx. It’s cute.

- Okay, but why is destroying the trident gonna render him powerless? He literally grew in size when he received the power of the Throne which means that it has to be in his body so taking away the trident shouldn’t work. Smh.

- Man, what a lame way to get rid of all the villains and their minions. Very anti climatic. And they didn’t even need the rest of Winx there. So what was this bullshit that they needed Sirenix to defeat him when that barely played any part in his downfall? If anything, it was what let him get the power to activate the Throne. (We all know they could have fixed the pillars even with Harmonix.)

- The gate of Oblivion? Hey, why did no one toss Valtor in there? Or the Trix for that matter?

- So Bloom didn’t actually wish to get Daphne back but to remove the Sirenix curse? Not that there’s much difference since the curse only ever seemed to have worked on Daphne (and Politea that just vanished in thin air).

- I’ll take Daphne’s comment about Bloom being the best little sister in the whole universe as her being emotional over the fact that she was brought back to life. It took Bloom so long to figure out that there was something wrong with her and then even longer to save her. In fact, she didn’t even look as concerned with Daphne’s situation as she was with her own romantic drama so I am not buying that she is so good at being a little sister. Besides, we all know that Miele is the best little sister.

- Aww, I really love that shot of Bloom and her whole family group hugging. And I especially love the fact that Mike and Vanessa are also there!

Oh, I have to write some sort of conclusion now? I was pretty clear on my feelings about this season so I don’t think there’s much to say. Only a few final words to the season itself - I dub thee The Season of Missed Opportunities. Also, love how Musa didn’t even get to use her Sirenix wish. Guess she didn’t please fate enough... even though she was mature enough to know that wishing her dead mother back was not the way she should use her wish. I call bullshit on that (and yes, this is my closing statement).

So I was tagged a few days ago by @disdaidal in a post about comfort characters, but since I’m extra af and also didn’t feel like reblogging that whole long(ish) post, I’m making my own separate post.

Also let it be said that I am old I had to actually go and google what exactly people mean when they talk about comfort characters. Thankfully Urban Dictionary was very helpful (”A comfort character is when a character, which can be from a TV show, game, book etc makes you feel safe and happy when upset, sad, down etc.”) and I realized that I do, indeed, have quite a few comfort characters!

So, let’s move on to my pretty long list of them, with some explanations behind my choices as well because, you know, as I already said, I am extra af.

In no particular order:

Donna Noble (Doctor Who)

Here's the thing, I LOVE Donna. She is my favourite DW companion of all time. She's completely ordinary: she's not super pretty, she's not super intelligent, she's just a normal average woman who feels like she's going nowhere in her life. She thinks of herself as nothing special, especially in the beginning, and her overbearing mom certainly doesn't help in that (not my only comfort character with an overbearing parent/parents btw and that might tell something about me and my life, oops) but she still takes no bullshit from others and she has a great moral compass, she says what's on her mind and she is also compassionate and kind. She is both very relatable and the kind of person I aspire to be myself.

Zevran Arainai (Dragon Age)

Why is one of my comfort characters a suicidal assassin with an extremely fucked up past who is constantly throwing around sexual innuendo and hiding behind jokes? Let's not think too hard about that... :')

Dorian Pavus (Dragon Age)

Ok, another DA character in my list. He's also comfort character number 2 with overbearing (ok, more like plain awful in his case but...) parents, lol. I won't go into much more detail about him but he's my gay son and I love him. It helps that his voice actor has a really calming voice as well, I know that really is quite a superficial thing but his voice is just really soothing to me, which is a nice plus.

Luke Skywalker (Star Wars)

Luke has been and always will be my favourite Star Wars character. He's such a cutie but what's more important than that, he's good and pure - while simultaneously being a whiny little disaster. What's not to like?

Newton Geiszler (Pacific Rim)

A weirdo super smart guy who talks a mile per minute, in love with his equally weird and super smart best friend/rival? Being my comfort character? It's more likely than you think. Idk also I relate to Newt a lot because I too can't shut the fuck up about stuff I find fascinating, have weird hobbies and am a fucking nerd. Although I'm nowhere near his level of smart but whatever.

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

Another weirdo character. I strongly relate to those, ok. Unapologetically herself despite being bullied for it, doing her own thing, and also despite being terribly bullied and stuff, she only just continues being kind instead of turning bitter like she very easily could. (also I loathe the Harry Potter movies, I only really like the books, but am still using a gif from the movies anyway because that's the easiest)

Richie Tozier and Eddie Kaspbrak (1990 IT-miniseries, but also the book)

Both of them are my comfort characters because I strongly relate to them both, only in different ways. Or, well, I kinda relate more to Richie, the insecure jokester that he is, although Eddie here is my comfort character number 3 who happens to have an overbearing parent (I told you it was a theme!), and also I understand his anxiety all too well, not to mention the years of repression. Anyway, they mean a lot to me, their love for each other means a lot to me, I could talk about them for hours and make you all fall asleep from boredom... So I guess I won't.

Snufkin (Moomin)

For nostalgia reasons mostly (I had a huge crush on Snufkin as a child) but also because the older I get, the more I understand him and his loner ways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Fun fact: my 3,5 year old niece is totally a Snufkin girl as well, so this character truly keeps on being a favourite across generations.)

I could've listed even more comfort characters but these are the dearest to me. Sorry for the super long post. And now, I'll tag some mutuals!

You Promised

It randomly came to my mind that I’ve never published any tlc fanfic on this site so I figured that had to change and I ended up writing angsty crap about Cinder and Thorne lmao BECAUSE THEY ARE MY BROTP AND I WOULD ABSOLUTELY DIE FOR THEM. IN THIS HOUSE WE STAN PLATONIC BOY-GIRL RELATIONSHIPS.

I hope you like it as much as I do <3 I made it with love even though it’s hella sad.

It’s post-Winter :3

He's the last one to enter the room the day they allow them to. Not because he doesn't want to see her, but because he's too scared to do it.

Seeing Cress for the first time after the throne room had already been hard enough, so for a minute, he didn't want to imagine what seeing her would be like.

The moment when he decides to come into the room is actually very odd, because Thorne's head is all scrambled up and blurry as if his thoughts were surrounded by fog.

Yet, he knows one (only one) senseless thing: He loves himself enough to avoid seeing her, but he loves her enough to choose not leaving her alone in a moment like this.

When the door opens right before his eyes, he finds the will to walk behind the android due to pure survival instinct. Being really honest, Thorne is too tired to have an android voice (One that is not Iko's) telling him to follow along, as if he didn't know what he must do in situations like these.

As he walks, he absently stares at his feet, lost in thoughts that are not there, as his lungs are filled with air that smells like cleanliness and hospital (Hospitals have a characteristic smell, don't they?). The walk through the hall feels infinite even if he's aware it doesn't last for more than 10 seconds.

Then again, his mind becomes a confusing and contradicting mess, because one moment he just wants to get to the bed already, but when the android stops, he wants to run and hide. Forever. Or at least, being less dramatic, until this whole situation is over and they're all okay again.

If such thing happens one day, obviously. Thorne hopes it does.

The medical android says something related to the minutes he has before it comes back to get him out, but he doesn't listen. He already knows it's 15 minutes.

Or was it 5?

Well, he doesn't know and he doesn't care either. He'll just leave when the android comes back.

Then it hits him, and his stomach turns into a knot. When the medical android leaves him alone, Thorne feels as if he weren't alone just in this room, but in the whole galaxy. He's so afraid of looking below that it makes him dizzy, a feeling similar to vertigo.

But because, just because he's Carswell Thorne, he finds the strength to do it.

And even if he previously knew she wouldn't be staring back at him, Thorne feels disappointed and empty anyways. The knot in his stomach loosens and disappears, but instead, it moves to his throat, which to his particular opinion is even worse.

She's not in a suspension tank. Not anymore.

She's laid there in a kind of comfortable looking bed; her man-made organs being so unstable they don't work on their own; her body supported by machines; her mouth opening so the tube that fills her lungs with oxygen can fit in; her tanned skin looking so weak, pale and dry it hurts; her eyes shut close; Her hair invading some of the space in the pillow; her wounds looking a little better, but still open, accompanied by bruises that look like galaxies; a constant "beep" that marks the rhythm of her heartbeats.

Princess Selene Blackburn is unconscious in that bed. Luna and the world hanging by both her flesh and mechanical hands, and her life hanging by a thread.

Well, she's Selene Blackburn for the rest of the Moon and the Earth.

For Thorne, she will always be Cinder.

Linh Cinder. Crazy Cyborg Fugitive.

The same person that broke out of New Beijing's prison with him and the one who would roll her eyes every time he opened his mouth; the first one to join the newly acquired Rampion crew.

Maybe she had appeared in his life for a reason and was meant to stay for a very limited time; maybe her only mission at least in this life was to fix the mess her ancestors had left behind and Winter would be the new Queen; maybe she wouldn't get any better because there was nothing else anybody could do.

Maybe they'll just have to face the facts and find resignation once she's gone.

Except, Thorne knows he's not willing to do that.

Because, in the first place, he doesn't want to let her go. He doesn't care about the fact that making her stay requires denying to put an end to her physical suffering, which makes him indeed a selfish person.

So what?

He's always been a selfish person anyway. At least now he's doing it for a cause he considers good.

With a deep breath and a blink, Thorne manages to find what's left of his emotional strength, and his mouth curves itself into a forced smile as he sits on the mattress, close enough to feel her weight sinking it.

He keeps breathing steadily, and he tries to find the most creative nickname he can give her in case she's listening, but nothing comes out. Nor in his brain or through his mouth.

But still, Thorne holds her hand, the mechanical one, as if doing that he would be able to transfer her some of his energy to make her body function again.

That doesn't happen, of course, but it does make the memories flow through his mind and, from all of that, he manages to rescue one very specific thing.

And even if now it hurts, Thorne feels like it's the right thing to say, and the words come smoothly out of his mouth, almost against his will:

"You promised you'd let me help you pick out a tiara after we were done saving the world."

But, as he thought it would happen, Cinder stays immobile. Quiet. Asleep. Like a ghost. Like the little girl he saw at Michelle Benoit's house, so unrecognizable it made his blood boil with rage, with the only difference this time it's not "Who would do this to a child" what crosses his mind.

This time it's "How dare she do this to his best friend?"

And with his blood boiling through his veins, just like his eyes are burning as if it were filled with flames instead of tears, Thorne speaks to her again.

"Now you gotta promise me that you won't die." His hand tightens around hers.

"Please."

What I am wearing: black It:Chapter 2 sleep shorts that say “Loser’s Club” and have a paper boat on them and a Dragon Age tank top with all the Love Interests from the first game on it and that is also way too big for me and shows a lot of side boob, but that will not stop me from wearing it lol

Favorite Food: Steak!!! and french fries! And I will also never turn down chicken nuggets.

Dream vacation: I’ve always really wanted to go to Ireland and Scotland. They’re so beautiful and green and I LOVE Celtic music and I’ve just always wanted to go. Plus if I go, maybe I will meet a cute person with a beautiful accent and we will fall in love lol

Dream car: I like cool fast cars and a Tesla would be cool if Elon Musk didn’t suck so bad. BUT I am also very small and I like to feel tall so I would also love a pick up truck or a jeep!

Instruments: I can KIND OF play the piano? Like well enough for vocal warm ups and to play a part for me to sing with, but like not very well. I used to play the flute and the clarinet but I was okay at the flute and terrible with the clarinet, the only song I actually played will on clarinet was when we did Duel of the Fates from Phantom Menace and that’s because I only had to play like 6 notes the whole time because it was the background “duh duh duhduhduh” thing over and over again. I do sing though! I love to sing and it’s my favorite and I wish I sang for people more because it’s like the one thing about myself I like and I’m not insecure about.

Languages: unfortunately just English. Unless you count the little bit of Elvish I know because I’m a fucking loser.

Celebrity crushes: PEDRO PASCAL. Also Indira Varma, Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Diego Luna, Gal Gadot, Antonio Banderas (dude Take the Lead, Spy Kids, and Zorro really did a number on me as a kid), Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightly, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson, Nathan Fillion, Brendan Fraser in the Mummy really did it for me and so did Rachel Weisz and the guy who played Ardeth. Okay I should probably stop.

Random facts: I have three tattoos, I can sing Phantom of the Opera if I have warmed up properly and I sing it very loud and also if I am alone and no one makes fun of me. I haven’t done it in a long time though so I would definitely need to practice before attempting it again. I have a scar on my leg from when I went to Maine with a friend and her family when I was in middle school (my family lived in New Hampshire at the time so it wasn’t that far) and my friend and I were walking in the ocean and the water was very cloudy and there was a huge rock I didn’t see and I ran into it and literally put a hole in my leg, like an actual hole, this was like 10 years ago and the scar is still there clear as day. I remember the lifeguard who bandaged it was named Jack and only remember because I was going through a huge Pirates of the Caribbean obsession. Oh, and it got infected so badly that if I hadn’t gone to the doctor when I did (about a week and a half after it happened) I would have had to have my leg amputated, but lucky for me I just needed some antibiotics! I was an Astrophysics major when I was still in school, and before that I was a theatre major and that was VERY fun. I also got about halfway through the baking program at my local tech college before I left because of issues with my mental health and because I wanted to go to school for theatre and music. I would love to go back either for Astrophysics again (this bitch fucking loves space) or Music/Vocal Performance.

Clearly “Who we are and who we need to be to survive are very different things”. Nothing fits the whole show better that these words imo.

Out of ALL characters? As much as I’d LOVE to say Bellamy... but.. Um... Probs Indra or Luna. Out of our delinquents: Octavia. Otherwise: Maybe Diyoza. Just a feeling...

Least fave: I am prohibited to mention that (see above). Fave canon: Marper. Fave non-canon: Sea Mechanic (Raven/Luna)

Depends on the plot what kind of song I’d like to hear. In regards to my fave pairing/ship... probably “Rewrite the stars” performed by James Arthur. I just LOVE this song so so much...

28. What would you do if you were stuck in the bunker with Murphy for all that time?

The bunker huh? I have no idea. Do you mean the Wonkru-bunker or the bunker/tower he was imprisoned by Jaha/Alie? As for the latter: Seriously. How should it be possible to shut him out of your life completely? It simply WON’T WORK. So... I think we’d probably doing all the weird and funny things that are available (games, karaoke, drinking and so on) and then I’d take my things and search for an empty, silent space just for myself. Just a place to retire to sometimes.

29. You’re an extra that gets killed off. How do you die?

I wouldn’t have survived praimfaya. That’s for sure. I’d have been burned to ashes. Before that: Probably hit by a grounder spear.

30. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of?

Always Emori. She’s such an interesting character. And all the new characters that will appear in S6.

31. A character you’d bang?

Is that even a question......... Big B of course. Captain daddy can come @ me all the time. ;)

Oh god... THAT’S hard... I do have a sister who is very, very dear to me. I can’t possibly imagine to poison her... I can’t compare her to O though, bc I was never separated from her for 6 long years - nor is she like a blodreina (NO-ONE is like blodreina... >.<). Bellamy said he did it (amongst other obvious reasons) bc he wanted to save her from herself. Maybe... if she would have gone too far, too... and the life of MY greatest love would be on stake... I’d do it. But no... I don’t wanna think about that.

As for what I’d do to stop Octavia... I don’t have any better idea either. That’s the problem here. *sigh *

Alright, I’m gonna rate the 4 principal characters of Soy Luna on how likable they are for me and how good they are as characters.

I’m gonna add a read more here because it’s quite long. If anyone cares about reading this, just click on it.

Likability:

Luna: 4/10 = I have to say that this rating is powerfully influenced by her being the protagonist of the story and how that protagonism was portrayed and developed on the show. Luna is a good-hearted girl who just wants her dreams to come true, there’s nothing wrong with that. The problem starts when that good nature of hers gets literally venerated by the other characters. I wouldn’t have had any problem with people liking her when she arrived, she’s nice and outgoing, it’s normal that people would like her. But the thing is that, the characters didn’t just went “oh yeah, she’s nice” and kept going with their lives, no. Luna became like the embodiment of goodness and what everyone should aspire to be. I can’t count all the times someone made a long ass speech about how good or talented she was, which is true, alright, but she’s not that good or that talented for her to be praised by every single person that knows her, including a professional skater who only saw her skating for 10 seconds. Of course, I get that this is a kid’s show and the point is for girls to relate and want to be like her, but I just can’t stop finding it annoying how everything revolves around this girl that’s not really that special. And not so perfect either; she’s clumsy, quite self-centered, annoyingly indecisive (yes, you’re not supposed to know exactly how you feel 100% of the time when you’re that young but Come on!), and I’m gonna name self-centered again because, seriously.

Overall, I’d probably like her more if she was just a secondary character.

Matteo: 6/10 = I’m considering all seasons here because we can all agree that he was an ass during season 1 and a big part of season 2. Matteo, well, has his flaws, clearly, but he’s not a bad guy at heart. He’s quite charming when he wants to (most probably thanks to being played by Ruggero lol), attempts to help even when sometimes I wish he would just shut up (the whole ‘Ámbar only knows how to hurt, trust me, I know her’ speech), he’s very talented, and during season 3 he even learned how to not be selfish. If I thought about season 1 I’d probably give him like a 1/10 because that bitch. Every time he ridiculized Simón made me want to kill him, and I honestly still can’t forgive him for some of it, so I’m giving him a 6/10 by the end of season 3. I’m kinda cool with him now, mostly because his relationship with Simón improved, but the north remembers.

Ámbar: 8.5/10 = A queen turned badass? Sign me the fuck up.

I’m not giving her full points because, well, she’s done some shit, okay? And the fact that I understand her reasons doesn’t exactly excuse her. Most of all, she loses points with me because, yes, she had reasons to do things she did because people crossed her, but what did Simón ever do to her? (Besides the whole ‘you’re full of hate’ episode, but in season 3 they act like that never happened). Ámbar from the beginning was planning to manipulate Simón, to use him, then she fell in love of course, but then in season 3 she fell to the same routine of trying to manipulate and use him. That’s not cool. Especially since he’s one of the few people in her life that genuinely cared about her and wanted to help.

But she’s such a good characteerrrrr (I’ll speak about this later). I just can’t not like her, I can’t.

Simón: 10/10 = Sorry, I love him sfkjsdnf. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t have flaws, like I’ve said before, he’s a self-righteous piece of shit sometimes, lacks the determination to freaking do something, lets everyone walk all over him, and he may have a little problem managing anger. But since I love him, I leave those things sly and focus on the good in him. And boy, there’s a lot of good in him. He’s the friend or boyfriend we all wish we could have.

**I gotta be honest, the likability of the characters for me is greatly influenced by how they treated Simón skdjfns. I’m sorry but, I can’t help it.**

Now, up to a more objective perspective:

How good of a character they are.

Luna: 6/10 = Her character is quite simple if you ask me. It achieves the purpose of being little girls’ role model, but I don’t think it had that much more depth to it. I mean, if I rate it on how her character got to be loved by millions, then I’d have to say 9/10, her face was freaking everywhere so obviously the writers did a good job. But I just, I don’t know, there’s not much to talk about here??? I already mentioned she has good points, and she has this whole ‘I want to find the truth about my past’ thing, but, seriously, her character was very simple.

Matteo: 8/10 = I think Matteo had a quite good character development throughout the show. He starts being a complete asshole and by the end he was friends with everyone, even Simón who he antagonized for 2 seasons. Matteo was, of course, the ‘popular guy with a secret heart of gold’ trope, and yeah, I guess they wrote it right. He’s got his bad things but he tries to be better (especially because of love which is nice when you’re a romantic like me), is loyal to his friends, has an ego but learns to not be ruled by it. Yeah, he was a good character overall.

Ámbar: 10/10. Seriously. When people say she was one of the best antagonists in Disney shows history, they’re not exaggerating. She had depth, she wasn’t just the bitchy blonde, there was a whooole background to her that explained why she acted how she acted. She had a shitty upbringing which made her be shitty but she grew from that. She learned from her mistakes and finally didn’t let her past define her. She took her life into her own hands. She said ‘You know what? THIS is who I really am and THIS is what I stand for.’ She may have not known how to do things right because no one ever taught her but she worked hard on being better when she realized that following Sharon’s footsteps wouldn’t get her anywhere. And that’s so hard, you know? Separate yourself from everything you’ve ever been told, but she did that.

Seriously, her development during the three seasons was very well done, not perfect, but very well done, and Valentina’s acting was on point. Let me take a bow.

Simón: 9/10 = He was the perfect third-wheel guy. The boy who’s sweet, and kind, and totally won’t let you down, and even if you don’t love him back he won’t resent you because he genuinely cares for you and he’s that nice. Overall, the kind of character you know is gonna get his heart broken repeatedly because he’s too good. On season 1, it worked perfectly with the love triangle.

Through the next two seasons, we see him grow a little. It’s not as noticeable as with some other characters, but I feel like he got a little more confident, probably because with time he felt less like an outsider and more like he belonged. And can we talk about that? This is a boy that left his country completely by himself without even knowing where he was going to stay in Buenos Aires or how he was gonna get money. That’s very brave, or stupid, or both. Either way, it makes him interesting… if you pay attention, because the writers loved to leave his background in the shadows. But he must have felt so alone, scared, nostalgic… he left everything behind god damn it, and yet he never showed it. He always had a smile on his face, always was there for everyone who may need him. I’m talking about a guy that gives gives gives and hardly ever receives but he’s okay with that.

His character could end up feeling as simple and bland as Luna’s. If anyone out there feels so, I get it. But that’s just because the writers focused on other aspects of him, the more visible ones (and that worked better with their Luna-centered plot). This is a guy that flew after his love, which didn’t work, stayed anyway because of friendships, old and new, found a possibility to achieve his dream in this new country and worked for it, found love again where he least expected it, had his heart broken again because of morals, but then realized maybe his morals had to be bent a little. Not everything is always black and white, he learned that, grew from it. He wasn’t that little puppy from season 1 anymore, he discovered he could be fire. He stood up to Benicio, stood up for himself with Ámbar (the whole ‘I’m not falling for her games’ thing), he stood up to literally all his friends while staying firm in his belief that Ámbar was better than what they thought.

It’s not that noticeable, but by the end of Season 3, we have a Simón that’s a little less a boy and little more a man. You can’t change my mind about this.

Now, you may be wondering: Why did you give Matteo an 8 and Simón a 9 when Matteo had bigger character development?

Well, because character development isn’t everything. If you have a piece of gold, would you get mad at it for not turning into a diamond? Matteo needed character development, he was an asshole. Ámbar could’ve stayed the mean girl forever since that was her role, but she grew from it and that’s why she was so cool.

Simón was always meant to be the good guy. The heart of gold. That was his character’s role and he portrayed it perfectly. What character development could he have? Would he becoming bad had turned him into a better character? Not really.

Could he have had more character development? Absolutely. I don’t give him 10/10 because, like it or not, he was too nice, and the writers sucked at showing his depth. Maybe a little more selfishness would’ve been good.

That being said, Simón gives me hope that good people exist in this world. I’m not gonna condemn his character for that, what kind of message would that send?

Anyway, I’m sure this is not totally objective, I think it’s impossible to be so when you’re as emotionally invested as me, but I gave my best to at least give arguments to back me up. People can agree or disagree with me, that’s totally fine.

Now, on a totally subjective note:

SIMÓN DESERVED BETTER THAN WHAT HE GOT.

June 14-15 (depending on your time zone), Mars trines Neptune, supporting you in taking action that is more deeply inspired, and opposes Saturn, confronting you with the necessity to be persistent, grounded, and willing to become wise. As Mercury conjoins the North Node, you can begin to see what that means.

June 16, the day before a Sagittarius full moon conjunct the supermassive transformational vortex that holds our galaxy together, the Cosmos pulls out the stops. The Sun trines Haumea, whose codes birth and rebirth the world, and conjuncts Chaos’ codes of the fertile, primal creation ground. Mercury trines Neptune, bringing a big wave of inspiration into our hearts, and confronts the reality of outworn structures as our Messenger simultaneously opposes Saturn. Jupiter perfects the second square in his long and powerful wrestling with Neptune that is pulling apart illusions so that we can hold a bigger space, for inspiration that is real and true. Only deep and simultaneous connection to the two poles of our being — the vibrant drumming heart of the Earth Mother, fed by the energy from throughout the cosmos she brings in through her magnetic poles, and the luminous mystery of the heart of hte Universe — can support you in remaining grounded and inspired in the days, weeks, and months ahead, MotherGod. Putting your bare feet on the Earth’s surface — every day if possible, for at least 30 minutes — can be reality-changing, bringing you into direct contact with the frequencies of the Mystery that made you, and me, and everything in the Universe.

The 100 rewatch: 4x06 We Will Rise

We’re almost at the half point of season 4, and at the point where season 4 starts getting much better. This is not one my top episodes of the season, but it’s pretty solid.

Again, we follow three plots in three locations: drama in the severely damaged Arkadia, where a lot of angry people want to kill Ilian for destroying their hope of finding shelter from Praimfaya, while Octavia, Kane, Jaha and Monty react to this in different ways; the road trip with Clarke, Bellamy and Roan, who are on the mission to bring incredibly important barrels of hydrazine to Becca’s lab, to make it possible to go to space and synthesize Nightblood; character drama in Becca’s lab, where is Raven struggling with her mental state and trying to make the trip to space possible, with a focus on the development of relationships with Murphy and Luna. We also see how, even in the face of the imminent disaster/end of the world, people still continue with their stupid wars between clans and screw up chances for everyone to get saved.

The episode continues right where the previous one ended, during the night, as Jaha is watching Arkadia burn. What used to be Ark is severely damaged and, while half of it can still be used as living quarters, it’s useless as a shelter from radiation. Jaha is calm and looking at the Second Dawn logo that they’ve found in the bunker. He obviously believes that there must be another bunker and that he will find it, as aAt the end of the episode, he says the Second Dawn motto “From the ashes, we will rise”,

After waking up in a bed she shared with Niylah that night, Clarke is looking at her drawing of Lexa (the one she drew in 3x06), which she has put on the wall in her room, Niylah seems completely OK with being just a temporary rebound friend with benefit for Clarke. She also starts comforting Clarke by telling her things like, Lexa lives through her, she is doing good things trying to save everyone, and Lexa also wanted unity of all etc. These lines feel really forced and weird: why is Niylah telling Clarke what Lexa would have wanted? How would she even know? She’s talking as if she had been her family member or close friend or associate. Clarke knew Lexa, while Niylah was a trader who lived far from Polis, she probably never even got to see the Commander, let alone ever talk to her. Now, it makes perfect sense to have Clarke think of Lexa, who died less than a month ago, but these references feel really forced – it feels like writers are trying a bit too hard to insert some positive references to Lexa in order to appease her fans, so they have different characters talk to Clarke about how great Lexa was (for the second episode in a row)– even if that doesn’t actually make sense for these characters, and even though it’s at the expense of Clarke’s character: Clarke was a strong leader who was trying to save everyone way before she met Lexa, and the idea of Lexa as Clarke’s moral compass doesn’t match their actual relationship (if anything, it was the opposite – and Lexa’s decision in the days leading up to her death, to stop the cycle of violence which everyone now seems to admire her for, as something she did at Clarke’s suggestion and that everyone around her ascribed to Clarke’s influence). By comparison, I don’t have any problem with the show’s mentions of Lexa post-season 4, which have been much more faithful to what actually happened in season 2b and 3a.

But disregarding the actual lines, what strikes me most about the scene is that Niylah’s general attitude and especially the way she talks to Clarke come off as almost…motherly, which is, obviously, weird. But I guess Clarke, at the moment, just needs someone caring and undemanding to give her comfort, human touch and some casual sex, without asking anything from her. I don’t think she is at the emotional state, at this point, for a real romantic relationship with anyone – and who can blame her, after how tragic her love life has been? Stronger feelings are dangerous and can lead to pain and loss. But she does care about Niylah enough to make sure she has a good chance of surviving, so she tells her to stay in Arkadia so she would be sure to be among the people who got the Nightblood treatment early. Niylah has been surprisingly chill about the way Clarke broke her trust in 3x11, but I guess she’s generally not a person who holds grudges, and her feelings for Clarke were probably more like an infatuation with a celebrity, without any expectations of a real relationship. Oddly enough, this is just the fourth time that Clarke has had sex with anyone, as far as we know (and Niylah is the one person she’s had sex with twice –due to circumstances, she only got to have sex once with each of her romantic partners, Finn and Lexa), and the last time in all 5+ seasons so far (what with the whole, being stuck on a deserted planet with a child and a radio as only companions for 6 years thing).

Before leaving on her mission, Clarke has a nice talk with Kane, her unofficial stepfather, about Abby’s upcoming mission, since Clarke is going to see her mother, while Kane is staying in Arkadia to make sure everything is fine. They even hug, and this is one of the very few times that we see these characters interacting one on one.

Surprise, surprise, there are again hostilities between Azgeda and Trikru have again. Roan’s army is returning from Arkadia, but they found the time to burn Trikru villages on their way which Roan apparently hasn’t done anything to stop. Bellamy brings it up, but Roan just shuts him up with “That’s funny, coming from you”, Because, apparently, “You did bad things in the past you feel sorry for, this justifies the crap I’m doing right now” is such a great argument?

Bellamy goes to check out on Octavia, who’s in the med bay, and tries to have a normal conversation and tell her that he he thought she was dead, but Octavia is still doing her “I hate you and cannot forgive you” thing, now with less physical violence but in an even more dramatic fashion, telling him that “Octavia is dead” and blaming him for it, saying she died “when you killed Lincoln”. Huh, so that’s the story now, she’s somehow decided that he killed Lincoln? And she also tells him that the fact he is her brother is only reason she hasn’t killed him.

Ilian is also in med bay, after being beaten up by an angry mob, which only left after Kane threatened them with a gun and made them leave. (The scene made Niylah exclaim: ‘We’re not so different after all” – probably referring to the fact that Sky people really are just another clan who believe in ‘Blood must have blood’ just like those she knows.) Now he’s surrounded by guards, but the angry mob is assembling and listening to the speech of a man who seems to be their leader. Angry mobs often get to be the antagonist in this show, but it’s nice to see that, for once, we get to see their point of view and humanize them. The man blames Ilian for the fact that his five year old son will not have a shelter from radiation, and he also clearly has a wrong idea about Ilian’s motives, believing that destroying Arkadia was a hate crime targeting Sky people. They aren’t aware that he was in fact on a tech-destroying rampage caused by ALIE-related trauma and clueless about the consequences.

On the other hand, Octavia knows, but doesn’t care. When Ilian says he didn’t mean to hurt anyone, and that he didn’t kill anyone, she points out that he kind of has killed them all, and adds some dramatic dark lines such as “The sword doesn’t care what you meant, it just cuts”. She doesn’t seem really angry over Arkadia or looking for revenge – like in Polis, she is in her dark state of mind and uses violence as a way to unload or numb her pain. Later, when the mob comes to kill Ilian, and his guards conveniently leave, Octavia tells their leader that they can beat him up, but she gets to kill him. The first time I watched season 4, my first thought about her relationship with Ilian in this episode was “oh god, she’s found a new punching bag”. She can beat the crap out of Bellamy, but she won’t kill him because he’s her brother, but she can kill Ilian. It was one of the bigger surprises of this season when this relationship later turned to something more positive.

Earlier, Monty tried to prevent the lynching, by talking to Jaha to convince him to intervene. He mentions the time when they lynched Murphy for supposedly killing Wells - Jaha is clearly upset by another mention of his son’s death – and, as Jaha seems reluctant to intervene, says his son would be ashamed of him, but Jaha is in fact planning to get involved. When the mob goes after Ilian, Kane again does his best to stop them, pulling a gun again against the mob, but David Miller knocks him out, maybe worried that it could end with Kane dead or injured, or Kane shooting into the crowd. However, Jaha gets the crowd to leave by alarming them falsely about supposed radioactive rain (“black rain”), but Octavia is still there, and about to kill Ilian. Monty tries to talk her down, telling her: “You are not a murderer” – which is a bad tactic that doesn’t succeed, because she is a murderer. I don’t know how much Monty knows about her recent actions. But Kane finds a way to get to her – by pointing the obvious parallel between Lincoln’s death and what she’s about to do with Ilian. The parallel is really obvious, it may a bit too on the nose parallels - Ilian is on his knees and tied up, at the same place Lincoln was when Pike shot him. Octavia finally has a strong emotion about what she has become, throws away the gun, and runs away crying, leaving Arkadia to go roam around, while Kane is calling after her. He lets Ilian go.

Meanwhile, Clarke, Bellamy and Roan are on their road trip/mission with three of Roan’s men and barrels of hydrazine that need to be delivered in exactly that quantity. Roan gets to show his snarky side in this episode and has something almost like a buddy cop dynamic with both Bellamy and Clarke.

The convoy runs into some Trikru people who had been attacked by Azgeda, and ask Clarke to help an injured old man. She st ops to try to save him, but chaos ensues as a child sees Roan and three other Azgeda warriors in the back of the truck. Trikru and Azgeda have been at war, in spite of officially being a part of the same coalition, pretty much all the time, and Sky people have found themselves awkwardly on various sides of that conflict.

They separate at one point when Roan and Bellamy are in a rover while Clarke is with the three Azgeda guys and the cargo,but they lose radio contact with her and go back, only to find out that someone has disappeared with a cargo. Hydrazine can be used to build bombs, and they think Trikru stole the cargo to build bombs against Azgeda. There is a dead body wrapped in a cloth, and there’s a moment when Bellamy thinks the dead body is Clarke, before seeing it is Roan’s right hand man. It turns out that the two of Roan’s men killed the third one and stole the barrels to use it for weapons. There’s a fight and Roan has a superhero slow-motion shot when he jumps from one car to another and then fights one of the traitors.

They take the cargo back, but then it turns out that one of the barrels got pierced by a Trikru arrow, which means disaster – they won’t have enough hydrazine to go to space.

But before they find that out in a cliffhanger ending, there are some nice character moments. At one point, while it’s just Roan and Bellamy in a rover and Clarke is not there, Roan tells Bellamy that everyone is doing things for their people, except maybe Clarke – she is the only one trying to save everyone. That’s interesting, because he claimed the exact opposite an episode ago when he talked to Clarke, but he was bullshitting that time. Maybe he is sincere this time.

Clarke and Roan also have a friendly moment where Clarke tells Roan he’s a good king, and Roan has a “what is it all for” moment where he wonders if things will always be like that even if they are saved – if everyone will just continue killing each other. Well, that’s one of the big themes of the show.

Just a note: Bellamy has been feeling guilty and trying to redeem himself for 1.5 seasons for participating in the killing of 300 Trikru warriors that was ordered by Pike, and everyone is constantly reminding him of that. But Roan ordered his warriors to kill a bunch of Trikru warriors without warning just one or two days ago, and now hasn’t made any attempts to stop them from attacking Trikru villages. He may be ruminating about the cycle of violence, but he doesn’t seem to feel guilty, Clarke calls him a good king, and no one ever talks about it, not in the show and not in the fandom. This double standard is in line with how the show usually operates. In general, protagonists get the harshest treatment on The 100 and are always feeling guilty and getting called out on anything bad they do, and have to redeem themselves all the time. Clarke is the main character, so she gets that the most, and Bellamy gets that a lot, too, but supporting characters mostly don't. Currently, there is a lot of anger in the fandom because of the way Clarke is being treated at the start of season 6 by the narrative and other characters, but many people think it’s because Jason Rothenberg favors Echo over Clarke – when really, it’s because main characters like Clarke and Bellamy, and now Octavia, are important enough to have a story; the show focuses on them and their arcs, we see them feeling guilty and making efforts to make amends. But supporting characters get far less attention and story/development (e.g. we don't see much of Echo's development because she's mostly been a plot device and hasn't gotten much story of her own).

Bellamy and Clarke get another beach scene with a meaningful moment, before they separate, as they usually do at least once a season (this time, Clarke is going to help Abby and bring the hydrazine, and Bellamy is returning to Arkadia). Similarly to the night beach scene in 3x13, Bellamy confides in Clarke about his problems with Octavia, how she keeps treating him badly but he keeps coming back trying to change her mind. He calls himself pathetic. Clarke again tries to comfort him, telling him Octavia will change her mind. But the way she talks to him makes it seem like she’s talking about something else, not his relationship with Octavia. She tells him “she’ll see how special you are” – which doesn’t even sound like something she’d really say about his sister. I kind of think that characters talking about how “special” someone is, is kind of a trite line, but that line has been used a few times Lexa said it about Clarke in season 3, and Clarke said it about Lexa in 3x14. Hmm, interesting, people have just used it to talk about those they were in love with. But let’s not assume too much, maybe this scene was meant to be about platonic friendship and nothing more… in which case, it failed really badly at that, since Clarke is very obviously checking out Bellamy while telling him “how special you are”. (Either that or… I don’t know? Did she suddenly decide to carefully inspect the combat gear he’s always wearing, and had to look it up and down just in that moment?) Then there’s a teasing moment where Bellamy starts telling Clarke something important, prefacing it with “If I don’t see you again,,” but Clarke cuts him off, saying he will, because she refuses to even think about the possibility of goodbye. Then they got interrupted by Roan, with the important news, so Bellamy never gets to finish. Fans have naturally speculated a lot as to what he was about to tell her. Contrary to some opinions, I don’t think he meant to say something too obviously romantic – not at that point, because I don’t think he was ready to go into that direction any more than Clarke was, while he was so consumed with the drama with his sister, and just a couple of weeks after he heard Clarke say she loved Lexa. I think he was going to tell her something similar to what Clarke told him in 4x13 – something about how much she meant to him. This scene was paralleled with the one in 4x13, where Clarke started telling Bellamy something important and led with “If something happens to me”, and Bellamy cut her off the same way, because he couldn’t bear the idea that she may die. Only that time, they were not interrupted again and she could finish.

In Becca’s lab, Raven is angry and desperate, because all her attempts at creating conditions for a successful launch into space keep failing, and the simulation shows that everyone would die. Meanwhile, Murphy is making sarcastic comments, as always, but Raven gets furious and starts telling him he is the worst, in a really harsh way.

Luna comforts Raven in what is a strangely intimate scene for two people who have only known each other for a couple of days at most, singing her a song, and then tries to comfort Murphy, explaining that Raven is saying those things just because of her deteriorating mental state, This is Luna at her best – the Luna that is caring, compassionate, and a pacifist. Murphy thinks Raven really hates him, because he crippled her. As usual, he has some fun sarcastic comments, such as “You are the new Raven-sitter” (after Sinclair. I guess). Luna tells him that he can find peace, since even she has managed to find it – in spite of having been raised to be a killed, and having killed her own brother. Sadly, in four episodes, or just a few days in-universe, it will turn out that she hasn’t actually made peace – just tried to convince herself of it. Luna says she wouldn’t like to be the last person on Earth, and Murphy sarcastically replies that it seems like a good prospect. The irony here is off the charts – Murphy is saying those cynical, nihilistic things as a defense mechanisms, but Luna is the one who will eventually try to make it happen.

Murphy trying to learn Grounder speech is the funniest thing: somehow a sentence Luna said (“I give myself to the miracle of the sea”) became something that would mean “I creep on myself for the miracle of horny mistake”.

Raven eventually finds the solution, somewhat helped remark by Luna, but the news about the lost barrel of hydrazine means it’s pointless (or at least it seems that way right now), and she has another seizure.

Timeline: This episode starts shortly after the end of 4x05, during the night, and takes place on the day after. In 4x02, it was 9 days since the beginning of season 4, 4x03 was a day or maybe 2 after, 4x04 not long after (since they decided at the end of 4x03 to go to Becca’s lab – a day after, tops), so this should be taking place about two weeks after the start of season 4.

Snily AU - Book 2?

So, here I go again, on a massive long ramble about this stupidly self-indulgent AU I’ve come up with. If you want a recap, I think I’m going to tag this AU under ‘role swap AU’, which is what it’s turned out to be, even if it started as just a simple ‘what if Snily instead of Jily?’ AU, so just search for the role-swap-AU tag on my blog.

And, as before, putting this monster beneath a read more, because, really, I’m writing an entire not!fic here. This is longer than some of the actual oneshots I’ve written, fml...

I’m just going to pick up where I left off; the summer holidays at the beginning of book two. Of course, a lot of what we see in the books is going to belong to Neville, now. I honestly can’t decide if Dobby would think to try stopping Neville’s mail, since he’s not quite as isolated as Harry was. Maybe he tries some other mischief. If he does end up showing himself, I can only imagine Augusta hitting the roof over this interference. (Maybe she even recognises Dobby as a Malfoy elf and gives Lucius what for about it?)

I like the idea that Neville is just as clumsy with the floo as Harry is, and the whole Borgin and Burke’s scene happens pretty much as per canon. Idk if Hagrid would find him or not, but either way he would, eventually get back to Diagon Alley safely (because he, unlike Harry, grew up in the Wizarding World and knew roughly where he was).

But I don’t know if he’d meet the Weasleys there. He certainly wouldn’t have needed rescuing, so what if instead of going there with a friend, it’s more of a coincidence. What if he just happens to bump into Harry there. Harry, who’s there with Sirius and Remus, of course, but also with the Snapes. Lily and Severus and Maeve, and her two younger brothers, Azrael and Gilgamesh. Because Maeve is starting Hogwarts this year and they’re making a big day of it, and Lily invited Remus & co because why not? So Neville bumps into them in Flourish and Blotts, right before he gets recognised by Lockhart.

And, of course, Lucius Malfoy still has his massive beef with the Weasleys for being blood-traitors and poor as dirt, as per canon, but in this AU, I think he’d have an even bigger beef with Severus. Severus, who Lucius was supposed to recruit, Severus whom he groomed for the role and made promises of everything the Dark Lord would give him if Severus fought for him, Severus who embarrassed him so massively in front of the Dark Lord when he picked a mudblood bitch over all that power and promise.

So it’s not Ginny Weasley who gets the Diary, it’s Maeve Snape. Lucius slips it in among her books while making snide comments about Severus sullying himself, how very like his muggle-loving mother, a legacy he must be so proud of- Lily shuts him up by punching him square in the jaw. And probably makes a comment about how does Lucius like being put on his ass by a mudblood, with muggle fighting techniques. Not so inferior now, huh? And Remus makes a quip about Lily being a healer, and wasn’t there something in her oaths about not doing harm? And Lily’s like ‘I swore to fight parasites and diseases, and that’s exactly what I did.’

And I want Draco to have a very complicated problem here, because on the one hand, he’s been conditioned to side with his father, and his father doesn’t like Severus Snape. But Draco, canonically, likes alchemy and potion-making, and Severus has, in this verse, had the opportunity to become a rather world-renowned name in the field. Draco, deep down and so secretly he barely admits it to himself (right next to where he hides his massive, debilitating crush on Harry), wants an apprenticeship with Severus when he’s older. So he’s bitter about it, and even more bitter because he’d entertained hopes of befriending Maeve, selling it to his father as luring her away from her family, but honestly mostly just in the hopes of getting an in with famous Potioneer and Alchemist Severus Snape. But no, she’s friends with Harry Potter, the bane of Draco’s entire existence. So he’s an even more pissy little shit than usual.

And that’s the summer, so now they’re off to Hogwarts. Except, of course, Dobby. And this is where things start getting complicated. Because I think Dobby would still stop Neville going through the barrier, since it’s one of the surest ways to stop or delay him, a point he has to pass through, and there’s no way around, and there’s a time limit. He probably has sneaky ways to make sure the Longbottoms are late, so there wouldn’t even be drama of there being a lot of people stuck, not just Neville. But would Ron be with him? Was any of the delay the Weasleys suffered Dobby’s fault? Do they get there earlier? So here’s the real important question:

9) Does Neville fly the car to Hogwarts? 9a) If the Weasleys are even there, does Ron even get stuck with Neville? Or is it someone else? The twins? Ginny?

I hadn’t thought of that before, but that could be interesting, actually. The two of them would be so shy around each other, Neville just naturally timid and self-effacing, and GInny over-come by her hero-worship crush. But Ginny is bold, when she’s not intimidated by trying to impress her crush, so if Neville did mention waiting by the car, I think she would be daredevil and stubborn enough to suggest flying it to school. I think the lure of all that time alone with her crush would be enough to make her push, even if Neville was hesitant and dubious.

Still, the question stands. Either way, he gets to Hogwarts eventually. And Ginny, Maeve, and Luna are devastated to realise they’re all in different houses, but Harry encourages them to not let house divisions come between them.

Which, speaking of house divisions, brings me to a plot point I really like. Of course, because they’re both in Slytherin, Harry and Draco can’t have their epic Quidditch rivalry. There can only be one Slytherin Seeker, after all. So, of course, they both try out, and it’s a furious competition, and they’re almost neck-and-neck. And eventually, Marcus Flint decides one of them is reserve Seeker, while the other gets the actual positions. So, of course, before every match, the reserve Seeker tries to sabotage the actual Seeker so that they get to play in the match. So of course, when the next year rolls around, and the reserve Seeker gets to be on the actual team, the new reserve Seeker sabotages them right back.

I think that, behaviour-wise, it makes more sense for Draco to be the reserve Seeker in their second year, to start off the whole sabotage-drama? I think Harry would be petty enough to try sabotaging Draco (remember, he is a Slytherin this go around), especially if he thought Marcus Flint had shown favouritism by picking Draco. (Maybe because of the broom-bribe?) But I haven’t even begun to think how it might play out in later years, so I’m not sure.

And following on from the quidditch-related questions; given that Neville doesn’t play quidditch, there can’t be any rogue bludger, so there really need to be other ways for Dobby to attempt to injure Neville enough to get sent home. I have no idea what they might be, though. I mean, Neville is already clumsy, so maybe he just seems to be having an Extra Clumsy Year or something, but that doesn’t seem like enough? I thought maybe, that if he didn’t fly the car to Hogwarts, this might be a good way for Neville to encounter the Whomping Willow? He is, after all, really interested in Herbology. Dobby might engineer an incident there?

I really ought to reread the second book (or listen to the audiobook, at least), because I’m a bit fuzzy on the order of events, but I think the only crucial plot point before the whole rogue bludger thing was the Deathday Party, right? I think that would all happen pretty much the same. No reason for it not to, really. And then, of course, because Dobby is trying to injure Neville, even without the bludger, he probably would end up in the hospital wing eventually, and Colin Creevey would try to visit him. But hey, would Ginny go with him? I kind of like the idea that they became sort of friends, bonding over their shared crushes on Neville. But if she goes with him, does she get petrified, too? That kind of ruins the whole only-muggle-borns streak right out of the gate, but it might be an interesting avenue to explore?

10) Who gets to be Slytherin Seeker first? Harry or Draco? 11) How does Dobby attempt to not-kill Neville? 12) Does Ginny go with Colin to visit Neville in the hospital wing? 12a) If she does, does she get petrified? Or does she avoid it? 12b) If she does avoid it; how?

And then we come to the duelling club. No Sev here, he’s free of that blasted classroom, so who does Lockhart rope in as his ‘assisstant’? My first thought was Flitwick, since he’s the renowned duelist on staff. But then I thought: McGonagall. Can you imagine McGonagall getting stuck having to deal with Lockhart in full on show-off mode? I think it might even be as entertaining as the actual canon dueling club.

Draco still summons a snake, and Neville still talks to it, and everyone still thinks he’s the Heir of Slytherin, as per canon. Only, in this verse, Neville actually has sort-of-friends in Slytherin. They’re not close, but they know and like each other, and Slytherin house is losing it’s collective mind at the notion of an actual real life parseltongue at Hogwarts. Jealousy and awe run rampant, and Harry and Tracey can tell Neville all about it. And most importantly, when Neville starts angsting over how it’s a Dark Art and maybe he is just a failure and an awful person deep down, Blaise, a well-educated pureblood from a Slytherin family can tell Neville all about the good parseltongues. (I really hate how inconsistent JKR was about that sort of thing. Dumbledore says “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” and yet JKR doesn’t have one example of a natural born parseltongue being good. Fuck you, madam. Fuck. You.)

When I was a kid, one of my favourite books was D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths, and one of the stories in it that stuck with me was the story of Melampus, who nursed a nest of orphaned snakes, and in return they licked his ears so clean he could hear and understand the language of animals. If that isn’t a perfect ‘origin of parseltongue’ story (Blaise: The muggles got it a bit wrong, of course, it wasn’t all animals, even snakes aren’t that wise, but they did teach him their own language) I don’t know what is. And he used the knowledge he gained from talking to them to heal. That, in fact, Parseltongue was known as a language of healing until only very recently. (Snakes are literally part of the symbol of western medicine ffs.)

And that maybe in other countries, like India and China, parseltongue is practically revered. They have their own parseltongue lines, and they’re honoured and maybe even rulers. (Are Chinese/East Asian Dragons snake-like enough to speak parseltongue? Do they speak dragonese? Are they bilingual?)

And Merlin, okay. I headcanon that Merlin was a parseltongue. Because I don’t care what JKR may have said on the subject, Merlin existed sometime around 500AD, which is five hundred years before Hogwarts even existed. He could not have been a Slytherin. However, I do really like the idea of him being Slytherin’s ancestor. (Which would also help explain Slytherin’s reputation for being obsessed with lineage. If I had Merlin in my family tree, I’d fucking brag about it, too.) And modern witches and wizards who aren’t historians only know vaguely that he’s associated with Slytherin, which then gets mistaken for him being in Slytherin. And any sufficiently educated witch or wizard (Hermione) will get so frustrated with that misconception because the dates don’t even match up you uneducated nitwit.

And of course Slytherins have a different opinion on Slytherin himself. Maybe when Hermione hears Tracey, a muggleborn like herself, defending the most famous hater of muggleborns in history (besides Voldemort), she gets all geared up for a Research Project, and she and Tracey disappear into the library together for hours on hours looking for unbiased sources and historical accounts of what Slytherin was actually like.

Sorry about that tangent, I just have a lot of feelings about parseltongues and Slytherin and Merlin and Greek Myths. Anyway, back to the plot; I think the whole Christmas drama with the polyjuice potion should just be scrapped. It just doesn’t work when the Boy Who Lived has friends in Slytherin and can just ask. I think Harry would definitely be of the opinion that Draco really probably isn’t the Heir (Harry: If Malfoy were descended from Slytherin himself, I think we would have heard about it by now. At great length. In detail. Every day.)

But maybe there was still a bit of an incident over Christmas, because Draco was mouthing off about how he hopes the next attack kills someone, and Harry argues with him, and it turns into a massive thing, with students from all years weighing in on this side or that. And Maeve is just sitting in the corner shrinking in her seat because she’s really starting to think ‘what if it’s me?’

So she tries to get rid of the diary. Maybe she confides in Ginny and Luna. (Or, just Luna, if Ginny is petrified...) I think she probably actually showed them the diary in the first place, and Luna made some vaguely disturbing comments about it, and Ginny thought it was neat, but they didn’t get sucked in like Maeve did, and they’ve been really kind of worried about her, so when she goes to them and explains - not all of it, she’s too frightened to admit to all of it, but she does tell them she thinks there’s something wrong with the diary, that maybe it’s hurting her - they’re (Luna’s) really relieved to help her get rid of it.

But does Neville find it? I mean, the whole thing is such a damn coincidence, but... hmm, Harry did find his way right to the diadem in the Room of Requirement, so if we work on the basis that Horcruxes are at least somewhat aware of each other and possibly even drawn to each other, then I think Neville would have to find it. (Whew, at least that’s one plot-bending point avoided.)

Next is Valentine’s Day. Ugh. This all depends on whether Ginny is petrified or not, doesn’t it? That’s probably an arguement for her not being petrified, because I can’t think of anyone else who has the right connections here. Of course, what the hell would happen if Neville kept the diary? Or would Maeve just steal it out of his bag at some point? I think she would have to. But if Ginny’s awake, then it goes basically like it did in canon, only Maeve is with Ginny when Neville’s bag splits, and she’s the one who panics over Neville having it, and she’s the one who convinces Ginny to help her steal it back. (Because if Tom was hurting Maeve, he might end up hurting Neville, and Ginny would love the idea of getting to be the hero that saves her idol from some soul-sucking diary. You can imagine the pre-adolescent daydreams the entire escapade fueled.)

Speaking of daydreams and romance, I love the idea of the entirety of the male-attracted population of Slytherin getting into a vicious fued over whether Lockhart is crush-worthy or not. Because, like him or not, the man is devious, and successful, and that’s got to be attractive to a lot of Slytherins. On the other hand, he wouldn’t know subtle if it jumped up and whacked him over the head with a brick. (I’m really torn as to what side of the equation Draco would fall on. On the one hand, he isn’t exactly subtle either, so there’s really good grounds for thinking he might be just as bad as Hermione about it all. On the other hand, I can’t help but feel that he’s much more likely to have a teacher-crush on Lupin, and obviously massively resent it and be a little brat about it just like he is about his crush on Harry. ...Although I suppose ‘why not both?’ does sort of apply here XD) Blaise is obviously very anti-Lockhart, and so is Daphne, Pansy is very pro-Lockhart, and so is Millicent. Harry, Tracey, and Theo just do not get what the fuss is all about, leave them out of it, please. That’s how Harry makes friends with Theo.

And then Hermione gets petrified. Only it’s not Penelope with her, it’s Tracey. Because they’ve been spending so much time together in the library researching Slytherin. (And also because Dean’s ‘just chuck out all the Slytherins’ speech pissed me right off, and I really wish JKR had actually put effort into debunking all the forms of prejudice in the books, not just the ones she set up to be distasteful. Not all Muggles are magic-hates, and not all Slytherins are Death Eaters.) And Tracey getting petrified would change a lot of the school’s attitude, because suddenly, no one is safe. The Slytherins aren’t All In On It, they’re just as much at risk as anybody else. No one knows where to look or where to point the finger.

And then there’s the whole thing with the spiders that I don’t even know where to start with. Obviously, Neville is going to get told by the Diary that Hagrid was the one to unleash the monster, so he would go talk to Hagrid, but... Not only is there the question of whether he would have stayed long enough to hear Hagrid’s warning without the Invisibility Cloak (which I still dunno if he has or not?), but... Would he really actually go looking for ‘answers’ in the Forbidden Forest? Which is where he was almost mauled by Voldemort once already. Ron certainly isn’t going to encourage him. If he does somehow go, how does he escape, given that maybe the car isn’t there? Argh. This whole thing becomes a complete mess with the possible changes of earlier and I have no idea what to do with it all. I just know that he does, somehow, need to be inspired to realise that Myrtle is the one the basilisk killed.

Or maybe he doesn’t? Is there some other way Neville could find the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets? Maybe Neville just... asks a snake? He could do that. There have to be some snakes at Hogwarts, and they must have heard the basilisk roaming about. Or, hey, maybe Luna helps? If Ginny was petrified, it might inspire her to investigate, in her own way, and she might find things others would miss. (Maybe she would just... go around asking all the ghosts if they know what happened fifty years ago.)

And that’s not getting into the whole issue of the adventure in the Chamber. Obviously, it’s Maeve that gets taken this time, so maybe it should be Harry that goes with Neville to the Chamber? Or maybe (if she’s not petrified) it should be Ginny? ...I feel I should mention that I don’t ship Ginny/Neville, and that’s not going to be end-game. She’s going to get over her crush and stay over it. And maybe actually getting to go on an adventure with the Boy Who Lived, getting to know how awful it is, how not-heroic it all it, how it’s just desperation and fear and muddling through as best you can, would help take the shine off her hero-worship and let her really start seeing Neville as a person, not a hero.

And then there’s also the problem of Lockhart. Do they take him along? Does Neville even think to go to him or does he just go on his own (or with Ron or Harry or Ginny or Luna or someone) because Someone Has To? I have no idea what to do with Lockhart, but given the curse something bad has to happen to him, right? And if the Flying Car thing didn’t happen, Ron’s wand isn’t broken, which means an obliviate wouldn’t backfire.

13) How does Neville find the Chamber of Secrets? 13a) If he goes to ask Hagrid about it, how would not having the Invisibility Cloak change things? 13b) If he does go into the Forbidden Forest following spiders, how the hell would they get out of it if they didn’t fly the car to Hogwarts? 13c) How involved in the process is Harry and/or Blaise, given Tracey got petrified? How involved is Luna, if Ginny got petrified? 14) Who goes with Neville to the Chamber of Secrets, if anyone? 14a) Does Lockhart go with them? 15) How does the curse get rid of Lockhart? Is it the same backfiring memory charm as canon? 15a) Does the basilisk kill and/or eat him? If so, how would that change the later story given he wouldn’t be able to reappear in book 5? (I don’t think it would change it very much? But my memory of book 5 is the fuzziest, and I can’t remember ^^”) 16) Does the basilisk have to die? Or can Neville somehow steal ‘control’ from Diary!Riddle and/or free the basilisk from his control? 16a) If the basilisk does die, should Neville and/or Maeve find baby basilisks and decide to raise them to replace the dead one?

No matter what happens, in the end, Neville kills the Diary, Maeve wakes up, and they meet her parents in Slughorn’s office. Lily and Sev are both relieved and furious, and when Lily finds out that her daughter was possibly possessed by Voldemort’s memory, she threatens to just go back to Italy. Lucius shows up, Neville realises what happened, frees Dobby, etc. The petrified students all wake up, Hagrid gets back from Azkaban, and probably Gryffindor wins the House Cup, regardless of who actually went down to the Chamber with Neville? Idk. If anyone can remember more details about exactly how the points stood in second year lemme know. So, a couple of bonus questions, because I’m a forgetful dumbass:

17) How would Slughorn being Potions Master affect all of this? Would he make much of a difference? Or would he just be bumbling about in the background, and have as much effect on the plot as Flitwick, or Sinistra? 17a) Who’s in the Slug Club? Who got recruited right away (like Neville, obviously), and who gets picked up in later years as they grow and mature and their skills come to light? 18) Who wins the House Cup?

Aaand on to book 3. Good god, what the hell am I even going to do with that, given, like, all of the major players just... aren’t, in this AU? I’ll think about that, and try to get a semi-coherent ramble full of yet more obnoxious questions written soon. ...Ish.

Starlight being more powerful than Twilight isn’t flawed or should be impossible

Okay this post is a long ass critical analysis about ponies I get it. But this is a free country and god dammit if I wanna over analyze how magic functions in a world of talking ponies and make theories about stuff that the writers themselves probably haven’t even thought I will.

I wanna get my thoughts on the whole “Starlight can’t and shouldn’t be as powerful as she is” argument. Alright, Starlight is my favorite character in mlp and one of the only things that keep me from completely dropping the show. But I feel like even if I didn’t like her (which is impossible) my stance of this debate would still be the same. And my stance is why I just can’t understand people who dislike for being “too” powerful. Like I can get just not liking her character, but saying it’s because she’s a Mary Sue is just ridiculous. If anything she’s the most realistically flawed character in the show and the most relatable. And I can’t just shut up whenever when anybody miss used the term Mary Sue and complains about a character being one just because they’re powerful. So I’m gonna make this post about it and then shut up forever.

So we all know that a lot of the hate for Starlight comes from people thinking she’s a Mary Sue because she’s on pair with Twilight when fighting when Twilight is Alicorn and Starlight is a unicorn. They call her OP and say that it’s inconsistent when ever she shows just how powerful of a magic user she is. That a regular unicorn shouldn’t be that strong. That a Alicorn is superior to Unicorn and Twilight should be wiping the floor with Starlight. And to me: that whole argument is bullshit.

It’s not even a matter of Starlight actually being more powerful than Twilight, that argument is bullshit because it plays off of the whole idea that Alicorns being these untouchable league above mortal deitys and anything that proves the idea wrong is “breaking the rules” even though these so called rules never existed in the first place. First of all, do I think Starlight is stronger than Twilight? Well, yes and no.

I think that their both strong in their own ways and categories. It’s not just as simple as whose better at magic because they both practice magic in different ways. It’s more a mental thing. Twilight is sympathetic and only ever fights or uses her magic on others as a last resort. Starlight was more prone to using her magic to fix any situation she’s ever had and is ready to use magic to fight whenever. Twilight preforms magic only to gain more knowledge and to help others. Starlight used her magic for self benefit.

So I would say, Twilight is better at passive “friendship?” magic as she is more patient. While Starlight’s magic is more aggressive. It depends on what they’re doing to determine who would win. If it’s just an all out brawl, I think Starlight would win. If it’s magic duel similar to the one Twilight had with Trixie, I think Twilight would win.

And the interesting thing about this show and it’s magic, is that magic can be represented in so many different ways and each Unicorn preforms it differently. It’s all dependent on the user. It makes the show more unique. And it saddens me for people to think that all Unicorns have x amount of magic are restricted by limitations just because they aren’t a Alicorn. I mean Luna and Celestia’s teacher was a Unicorn.

Which brings me to my stance: just because you’re an alicorn that doesn’t mean a unicorn can’t surpass you in magic. Magic is kinda like a skill that needs to be learned, like flying. Rainbow Dash is still a better flyer than Twilight because it’s her main profession and she’s been honing in on her skill all her life. Same with Starlight, she’s been practicing magic all her life. Magic and flying is something that ponies just have. But Just because you got it doesn’t mean you’re gonna be good at it. It’s up to the individual pony to decide that they wanna be good at it. An being an alicorn doesn’t automatically make you good at magic or a superior being. The only reason Celestia, Luna, and Cadence are so powerful is because they’ve been alive for centuries and they’ve had so much time to master their skill. Not because they were born with some natural skill. Magic is just in the hands of the user. Take Flurryheart for example, yeah she’s powerful compared to an average colt or filly. But she has no control over her power and if she doesn’t pursue getting better at controlling it than a power unicorn could easily beat her in a battle.

Different ponies use it in different ways. And Starlight is just more brutal than Twilight. She isn’t as passive as Twilight and isn’t afraid to not hold back. In the past she reacted to fighting her way out of situation where as Twilight just spent all her time reading books and practicing spells in the comfort of her own home. Twilight never needed magic to driving off of like Starlight did. Starlight is just more of a fighter than Twilight, so that’s why she’s so powerful.

If a small ally cat who’s spent his whole life surviving in the streets fought a big tom cat who’s spent his whole life in doors the small cat would win. Even though the Tom cat was born physically stronger the small alley cat surpassed him just because of the environment they grew up in. The Tom cat just doesn’t have the same know how. It’s like in Avatar LOK when Kuvira: a expert earth and metal bender, could beat Korra: the avatar master of all four elements. It doesn’t matter how much power she has on her side, Kuvira just taught herself how to fight better and won.

Honestly I kinda like it that magic works this way and it isn’t “Alicorns are automatically unbeatable.” It makes the dynamic of magic in this world more realistic. Somebody shouldn’t be OP just because they have wings and a horn. It should be based around what kind of pony they are personality wise, their technique, and what experience they have. Magic should be an extension of one’s self and Starlight’s magic reflects her personality. For a long time she was a manipulative and untrusting pony who often used magic to get what she wanted. And it shows in her magic.

It should be because of years and studying and practice. Why should an alicorn who has done not as much work to be good at magic be superior to a unicorn that’s had WAY more experience than them? That would just be stupid. So yeah, one of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to call characters Sue’s is that being powerful doesn’t make you a Sue if you EARNED that power. And with Starlight’s past she has. What is actually OP is if a alicorn was just born with some ante skill that they didn’t work for.

Yeah so anyways I rest my case, Starlight is the best character in any pony thing ever.

In Your Eyes // Peter Parker

hey hey hey. so, with the new discovery of spider-man: homecoming, i had a huge idea for a peter parker imagine. i still don’t know this whole universe by heart so forgive me, i tried my best. let me know what you think about it!

summary: when tony finds out you’re using your powers and sneaking out without permission, he makes sure you’re put in check. little did he know, you’d be needing your powers more than ever.

As a teenager, you do some pretty stupid things. Your mind revolves around the hottest guy in school or that big party your best friend is throwing sometime this weekend. The worst of those stupid things, sneaking out. Granted, sneaking out wasn’t awful, when you had a normal house that is. Sneaking out of the Avengers Tower was a whole different mission in itself.

“You know, Y/N, most kids get to just sneak out a bedroom window or walk out the back door. You? You have to climb almost fifty million stairs without getting caught by a camera or making a noise, isn’t that great?” You mumbled to yourself as you stepped down another flight of stairs. You were trying your best to keep quiet, knowing your father would kill you if he caught you.

Once you managed to sneak out the lobby doors, you were quick to run to the nearest alley and pulled your phone out. You groaned, seeing your battery was about to die but there was no going back to charge it now. You tapped the name on your favorites list, a little aggravated sigh escaping your lips.

“Parker, where the hell are you?” You huffed in the phone while you played with the mask covering your eyes.

“Y/N, baby, I’m literally almost there. I’m a minute late, give me a break.”

“Do you know how long it took me to sneak out tonight? Take a guess.” You were already bored of waiting for him to get you.

You could practically hear him roll his eyes. “I’m going with twenty minutes.”

“Half an hour!” You nearly shouted, “Nat almost caught me and don’t forget about Steve and his late night snack festivities.”

“Oh, I believe you.”

A scream came from your lips as you spun around to see a familiar blue and red suit. Spider-Man aka Peter Parker aka your boyfriend of two years never missed an opportunity to scare you. He loved your reaction each and every time.

“Jesus, Spidey. A heads up would’ve been great.” You ended the call, seeing as there was no point for it now.

The webslinger shrugged. “You know I can’t do that for you, Luna.”

Having double-identities was something you both could relate to. Peter chose Spider-Man for obvious reasons but you liked Luna for your character because you were forever changing things, much like the moon.

“Can we go? I’m getting bored.” You pouted. Spider-Man rolled his eyes but wrapped an arm around your waist before swinging both of you to a rooftop. You sat there in silence for a few minutes, waiting for something to happen.

Peter pulled his mask off and laid back against the roof, staring at the stars. “It’s a slow night, babe. You’ll be sitting there for a while.”

You shrugged, joining him at stargazing. “Much better than trying to sleep with my dad’s snoring.”

Peter chuckled. “I thought you made your bedroom soundproof.”

“Oh, it is. I can still hear him.”

The teen laughed, his eyes moving back towards the sky. Despite your desire for an eventful night, you were totally okay with this too. Anything involving Peter made you a happy person and everyone knew that. Rarely were you not smiling with him by your side.

“I’m guessing you still didn’t tell your dad then?” He broke the silence yet again, glancing over at you as he did.

You shook your head. “He’s already angry about me having powers, let alone that I sneak out to use them. I don’t need to give him a heart attack just yet.”

Suddenly, the peaceful night sky was interrupted by a huge flash. You both sat up to see the bright orange of fire and black angry smoke making their way up from an apartment building. Peter was quick to pull his mask back on before you wrapped your arms around him and the two of you swung away.

The ground was a mess of people, fire trucks, ambulances, and police. Peter dropped down on the sidewalk, immediately getting direction from one of the nearby responders. He glanced at the crowd before coming back to you.

“There’s people stuck on the top floor. I’ll handle that but I want you to go around, healing whoever you can, okay?” Spider-Man directed you before he flung himself into the burning building without a bit of hesitance. You watched his form disappear before listening to what he said. An older woman was your first goal. She had a burn on her left hand and gash on her forehead.

“Ma’am, are you okay if I help you?” You could feel your eyes change colors as you gently set your hand on her arm. Your powers were unique and you absolutely loved it. You could heal anything you wanted but you could also change people’s emotions. Your eyes changed colors as to what you were helping fix. Right now, they would be deep blue to help calm the old woman.

She nodded in response, allowing you to see her hand. You took it in your own before focusing on the raw skin. You imagined removing the damage, medicating it, and keeping it protected until it was new and better than ever. Opening your eyes, you could see the skin repaired and no longer an angry red color. You moved to the bleeding gash on her head, repeating the same process before pulling your hand back to yourself.

“You’re going to be okay, ma’am. I promise.” You smiled at the old woman as you began to stand up.

She returned the gesture and grabbed your hand gently. “We don’t deserve you, Luna.”

Your cheeks turned a little red as you waved goodbye to her, moving to another person. The next hour passed in a blur as you healed person after person, beginning to feel the wear on your body.

Eventually the fire was gone and Spider-Man was double checking to make sure everyone was out safe. When the all clear was given, he returned to you, taking in your exhausted form.

“Love, you good?” His strong hands wrapped around your arms, keeping your swaying form upright.

Your eyes opened wider, giving Peter more access to see what was wrong. When you weren’t using your powers, your own eyes would radiate your personal feelings. Peter had taken it to himself to memorize what each one meant and based off the light blue irises he was looking at, you were about to crash any second now.

He was quick to pull you into an alleyway, away from prying eyes. “Y/N, babe, talk to me.”

You shook your head, pulling yourself back to reality. “Sorry, just really tired.”

Peter turned around to face away from you before bending down. “Climb on.”

You didn’t wait long to situate yourself on his back, your eyes fluttering shut as you hovered between being awake and asleep. The smooth ride back to your home didn’t help your situation except for the harsh wind you felt every now and then. With Peter to assist, you were able to climb in through your window, stumbling to the floor.

“Hey, I’ll see you tomorrow, okay. Get some rest and-”

“No,” You whined, tugging on Peter’s wrist. “Stay with me. Please.”

Peter glanced back at the street. “Y/N, your dad will-”

“I’ll deal with it.” You tugged harder, making him step one foot in. “I just wanna cuddle with you.”

Peter huffed, bringing his other foot in. “Fine, but when your dad finds out-”

“I know, I know.” You sighed in content as you burying yourself into his chest again, loving the warmth he provided. “He’ll get over it.”

Peter wrapped one arm around you, the other sliding the window shut. He kissed your head before gently pulling your mask from your face. “Come on, babe. Let’s get you in bed.”

“Miss Stark, your father requests you and Mister Parker in the kitchen immediately.”

You groaned loudly. “Thanks, F.R.I.D.A.Y.” Untangling yourself from Peter, you changed into pajama shorts and one of Peter’s hoodies before plugging your dead phone in. Peter went to the drawer that you designated for his extra clothes. He was over here more often than not so you kept whatever clothing he left behind.

Once he changed into some sweatpants and a Star Wars t-shirt, you both made your way down to the kitchen. The bright lights burned your eyes as you walked hand in hand with your boyfriend. Your body threatened to fall asleep any second, regardless of if you were standing or not.

“So, you two. Mind telling me why the news channels are going on and on about a girl with healing powers and Spider-Man saving people from a fire tonight?” Your dad didn’t even bother with greetings as you both sat down.

You looked up at him with tired eyes. “Dad, we saved people. Why is that a bad thing?”

Your father ignored your question and turned to Peter. “See, Parker, this is why I didn’t want you putting these hero ideas into her head.”

“Mr. Stark, I didn’t..I mean I just-”

You interrupted your boyfriend’s nervous chatter. “Dad, Peter didn’t do anything. I’m the one who asked him to let me tag along.”

Tony wasn’t letting up on his interrogation. “Oh, so is this why you sneak out every night? To go risk your life for people?”

“You’re being hypocritical right now,” You mumbled, laying your head on the counter.

Tony clicked his tongue. “Okay, attitude, missy. You’re banned from using your powers from here on out.”

“Mr. Stark, all of those people are alive right now, because of her! You can’t say that’s a bad thing.” Peter tried to defend you.

“Someone else, maybe a person with a medical degree, could’ve done the same thing. She just made the process quicker. It was unnecessary and won’t be happening from here on out. No arguments.” Tony glared at Peter, almost daring the teen to speak against him.

“You’re kidding right?” You sat up straight now, all exhaustion being replaced with anger. “I save people’s lives and I get grounded for it? Why won’t you let me be helpful for once? I just want to be like you!”

“Well, you’re not, Y/N!” Tony’s voice echoed off the walls, sending you straight into silence. “Not only did you sneak out but you also risked revealing your identity to the world, not to mention exhausted yourself beyond limitation, three things that don’t roll with me, young lady. Consider your powers gone until further notice.”

As you looked up from your lap, Peter could see the overwhelming gray color in your eyes, flooded by tears. You didn’t say anything as you left the kitchen, retreating into your bedroom and slamming the door with force, probably waking up the other team members.

Peter watched you go with a worried expression and after hearing the slam, he knew better than to leave you alone. You would tear yourself apart in there if he didn’t stop you. Standing up from his seat, he almost walked out but stopped himself to face Tony. “Mr. Stark, I know it’s not my place...but just, give Y/N a chance. I know you want to protect her but she’s your daughter first, hero second. Your opinion matters so much to her and she looks up to you like you’re the sun. Don’t forget she needs you just as much as you need her.”

Tony watched as the young teen disappeared up the stairs. He had a lot to think about now, but one thing was for sure, his daughter’s protection was a priority above all else.

You don’t remember how long you sobbed to Peter last night. It wasn’t even about the loss of your powers, rather the fact that your father was disappointed and didn’t believe in you. That on top of everything else that had built up in the back of your mind, it was a huge snowball that busted open and tore you to pieces.

When you woke up, your head felt heavy and your eyes burned. You sighed and untangled yourself from Peter’s arms to head into the bathroom to fix your appearance. Once you washed your face and brushed your tangled hair, you finally looked in the mirror. Your eyes landed on the new piece of jewelry you couldn’t remember ever seeing. It was a necklace with a round clear pendant but if you looked close enough, you could see a swirl of colors inside.

Your eyes focused on another object in the mirror. A note filled out with none other than your dad’s handwriting, explaining the new piece.

Y/N,

I know you’re angry but you’re going to have to deal with it. The necklace blocks your powers. Don’t bother trying to take it off, it’s locked unless a registered fingerprint unlocks it aka me. You can be angry with me but your protection comes above everything else.

Love you,

Dad.

You sighed and crumbled up the note before tossing it in the garbage. Your reflection stared back at you, revealing the orange color in your eyes. Annoyance. Apparently that was the only thing the necklace didn’t block. You flicked the lights back off and pouted as you made your way back towards your bed. Peter was still asleep, cuddling a pillow in place of you.

The bed squeaked lightly as you laid down again, replacing the pillow with your own body as you curled into your boyfriend. You closed your eyes, wishing you could go back a day and fix this. Maybe if you had skipped a night of patrol, you wouldn’t have gotten caught.

“You’re overthinking.” Peter’s voice was raspy as he broke the silence, looking at you with one eyes.

You gave him a tired smile. “It’s what I do.”

Peter sighed and kissed your forehead. “It’ll be okay, baby. He means well.”

“He’s being ridiculous. He goes out there and puts himself in more danger than I ever do with nothing but a hunk of metal to protect him.” You rolled your eyes.

“A hunk of metal that costs and can do more than you think.” Your father’s defending statement announced his arrival, only annoying you further. “You’re angry.”

You scoffed, “A given. You’re being unreasonable.”

Tony rolled his eyes as he entered your room. “This is for your own good, angel. You know I care about you.”

“Look, I don’t want to hear about this. I’m going for a walk, see you later.” You pushed yourself out of bed again and shoulder checked your dad as you exited, not even bothering to get dressed.

Tony looked at your retreating figure before facing Peter. “Follow her, please.”

Peter didn’t respond but got up, pulling his suit off your desk. He didn’t agree with your dad’s treatment of you but he wouldn’t say anything. It wasn’t his place to argue. This was strictly a dad/daughter argument and Peter knew to stay out of it for his own good.

You let the tower doors slam behind you as you made your way out on the street. Your hands were shoved in your pockets and with every step, the necklace bounced against your chest, reminding you of your limitations.

“Stupid Dad always wanting to keep me in the house and out of danger,” You whispered to yourself as you walked.

“Ah, the little princess is having daddy issues, hmm?”

You stopped immediately and spun around only to see nobody there. Figuring you were imagining things, you continued walking, a little scared.

“You’d think someone as rich as your father would be smarter with his prized possessions.”

Now, you definitely weren’t making this up. You froze in your spot. “Who are you?”

You didn’t see the looming shadow appearing above you or the tranquilizer dart aimed at your neck. As far as you knew, nobody was around you.

The voice chuckled again. “Your friend, of course. I’m here to help you.”

“I feel like you’re lying.” Your whole body was tense as you slowing turned in a circle but still, nobody was around. “I’m leaving.” Your foot took one step to run but that was enough. The dart landed in your skin, sending you unconscious.

The figure hopped down from the wall, a satisfied smirk coming to their lips. “Time to take down Tony Stark, once and for all.”

When Peter came back from looking for you in full blown panic mode, Tony knew something was up but didn’t say it yet. You weren’t that hard to find, especially when you were angry. You always went to a little cafe down the street to treat yourself to a drink and write down your thoughts.

Peter checked there, however. And the bookstore, and your favorite restaurant, and the park but came up empty handed each time. He knew you couldn’t have made it far since he had only been a few seconds behind you. He didn’t get a chance to tell Mr. Stark on your disappearance before he was interrupted.

When Tony got an incoming video call from an unknown number, that was the last straw on in his mind. His anger levels were through the roof and if some little fan was calling to yell at him or scream about how much they loved him, he might kill someone. Natasha, Clint, Steve, and Wanda surrounded Peter and Tony as F.R.I.D.A.Y. pulled up the video.

“Ah, Mr. Stark and crew. How are you all today?”

Tony bit back a growl as he glared at the silhouette on screen. “Who the hell are you and what do you want?”

“Hmm, not a polite way to treat a civilian, is it? Listen, you have something I want and I have something you want. I say it’s a fair trade. What do you say?”

Tony scoffed, “I’m a billionaire, what could I possibly want that I don’t already have?”

The voice chuckled, “Well, I mean, if you don’t already want her, I can just make this easy for both of us.”

“Her?” Tony repeated the caller’s words quietly.

A harsh light was turned on in the video to reveal the missing piece to Tony’s almost perfect world. Your clean hair had been turned into a matted, bloody mess, not to mention your torn clothes. Blood dripped from your forehead and if Peter squinted, he could see your busted lip. Scratches littered your arms, bruises in between them.

Suddenly, a quick smacking sound filled the room as your attack flung his hand across your face. You shook your head, letting it fall forward as you attempted to open your eyes.

“Wakey, wakey sunshine. Time to play.”

The man was too close to you, in Peter’s opinion. Way too close for comfort and he didn’t even want to think about what happened before the camera had been turned on.

“Say hi to your daddy and friends.”

Peter loved looking into your eyes. Your powers always amazed him and he loved seeing the variety of color fill them. His favorite was always violet, meaning happy. Every now and then he would see magenta, when your father embarrassed you, or yellowish green when you were worried for him.

Never ever did Peter want to see a light, icy blue filling your eyes, yet here he was. Light blue meant fear, terrified, panic. You were scared, lost. Looking closer, he could see white threatening to overtake the blue color. White was a horrible color, in your mind and his. It meant void, hollow, empty. Peter never thought he would see you like this. You were broken.

“What did you do to her?” Tony threatened to go crazy if it weren’t for Steve’s hand on his shoulder, keeping him grounded. Much like Peter, Tony had memorized his daughter’s eye color and knew exactly what she felt right now. He was going to lose her if he didn’t act soon.

“She’s had some nice, therapeutic sessions with me. Mind Manipulation is a wonderful, wonderful gift. And oh, would you look at this.” The silhouette moved to stand behind you, picking up the necklace from its spot. “A little gift to keep Daddy’s princess in check so she’s defenseless. How perfect did that work out!” The figure squeezed your shoulders harshly. Peter heard a whimper escape your mouth and swore he would kill the man behind this. Tony was right behind the spiderling, angry at himself for even thinking about blocking your powers, let alone yelling at you like he did.

“What do you want? Just tell us and we’ll bring it.” Natasha was the one to step forward this time, tears threatening to break free from her eyes. You were like her younger sister, someone she had to look out for and take under her wing. You didn’t have a mother like most kids so she took it upon herself to make you feel like you did.

“Hm. Well, as we established before, Stark’s company is pretty wealthy. I wouldn’t mind at least a hundred grand and some weapons. If you disappoint me, she’ll suffer, I can promise you that.” The team could only watch as the man slid his hand down your face and grabbed your neck harshly, finally getting a reaction out of the team.

“Leave her alone!” Peter was the one to lunge at the hologram video, Clint quickly pulling him back as the teen started to cry. Peter couldn’t bare to think of you getting hurt like this. He knew he needed to save you, to bring you back and make sure you were okay.

“Time’s ticking, Tony Stark. I’ll be waiting.” The video ended with the final warning.

Tony immediately jumped into action. “F.R.I.D.A.Y. track that location. Everyone else, suit up. We leave in two minutes, with or without you.”

Numb.

That’s how you felt. Completely numb, worthless, hated.

Lie after lie had been forced into your mind by Apex. He wouldn’t stop, not when you sobbed and screamed and begged. No, he made them worse, especially when you cried for Peter and your dad. He took your worst dreams and made them reality, effectively breaking you whole.

You couldn’t stop crying and your whole body shook with fear after he ended the video call. You couldn’t even bring yourself to sleep, knowing another nightmare would just wake you up. You were empty, shattered.

Even when your rescuers broke down the door and a gun was held to your head, you didn’t flinch. You didn’t react, you didn’t scream. You just sat there, eyes on your lap as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

You missed Peter pull the gun from Apex’s hand before leaving the others to take care of the psychopath. Peter’s mind was on you and you alone. Evidently, Tony was the same. Both men came to a stop right in front of you.

“Y/N, baby, look at me.” Peter cupped your cheeks gently, trying to get your eyes to meet his as Tony released you from the chair you had been tied to. “Y/N, please!” Peter found himself choking on his words as he begged for a response out of you.

“Kid, kid!” Tony grabbed Peter’s suit clad shoulders lightly. “Take this slow, okay? She’s in shock. We need to get her out of here.”

Peter nodded and let Iron Man pick his daughter up before following him back to the jet. Peter could only watch silently as Tony hesitantly sedated you, knowing it would lessen the pain for now. The young boy’s eyes followed as his sweatshirt was pulled from your body, leaving you in a sports bra and shorts.

Tony didn’t know what you had been through and he didn’t want to risk scaring you further in case you woke up. The wounds didn’t stop on the visible pieces of skin, only continuing down your stomach and across your back. Your father couldn’t believe he let this happen. He let you down and that killed him inside.

Natasha was soon back inside the jet herself, Wanda not far behind as they took over looking after you. Tony and Peter made their way up front by Steve and Clint, giving the girls space to do what they needed. The cops had been called and they had taken Apex into maximum security, ensuring his imprisonment for the rest of his life.

Now all they had to do, was wait.

Yellow was the first color Peter saw when you opened your eyes. You were confused, as you should be. Bandages covered your body and you received more stitches than he could count on both hands. He knew you would be okay but the sight of you still made him worry.

“Baby,” Peter spoke softly, gaining your attention. “You okay?”

You groaned, your free hand coming up to rub your eyes. Your other hand was entangled with Peter’s, as it had been for the past six hours you had been in the medical bay. The necklace had been removed as soon as Tony could, knowing your powers would make the healing process go faster than a normal person’s ability.

“Kind of, I think,” You mumbled, keeping your arm over your eyes to protect them from the harsh lighting. “Am I okay?”

Tony laughed this time, his finger dimming the lights for your sake. “That’s for you to decide, angel. Physically, you’re healed, but mentally?” Tony sat down on the end of your bed.

You shrugged lightly. “I mean, I have to wrap my mind around it but I think I’ll be okay.”

Tony leaned down and pressed a kiss on your forehead. “I think this whole thing was a wake-up call. You definitely could use some training and advancement with your powers.”

Moving your arm to look at him, you frowned. “I can’t tell if that was a compliment or an insult so we’re gonna go with the first one...but, thanks, Dad. That means a lot.”

Tony smiled, his thumb brushing over your knuckled as he stood. “I’ll leave you two alone but let me know if you need something, okay? And Parker-”

Peter looked at your father with a smile on his face. “No funny business, sir. I remember.”

Tony grinned at your boyfriend. “Taught you well, kid. Taught you well.”

You watched your dad leave the room before scooting over, patting the spot next to you. Peter gave you a hesitant look. You groaned, “Parker, I haven’t seen you in what feels like forever. Get your ass up here and cuddle me.”

He smiled, glad your eyes had turned a true blue, meaning you were calm and relaxed. As soon as he was situated, he pulled you into his arms as close as he could while taking in every detail as you talked. He missed you more than he would ever admit and he wanted to notice all the little things he didn’t catch before.

In your eyes, you weren’t anything special but to Peter? God, Peter could go on and on for hours about how much you meant to him, how much he loved you. He needed you like he needed air. He wouldn’t be able to live without you. The few hours he didn’t hear your voice was bad enough and he couldn’t think about doing it again.

He placed a kiss on your forehead as your breathing evened out, signalling you were asleep. Peter sighed in content, burying his face in the side of your neck as he held you tightly.

You were his everything and he was going to protect you forever and ever. He was sure of it.
