Ryan (He/him) is an avian shapeshifter based on a eurasian eagle owl (in comparison to his original design inspired by a barn owl) . You know something I noticed?

The confrontation in the cave is the only time Death shows up when Puss isn’t about to die, and every time Puss sees him that death is prevented.

-First time is his cameo during the Giant Battle, where Puss doesn’t notice Death and thus succumbs to it.

-Then obviously the bar scene, where it’s been more-or-less universally agreed that Puss would’ve drank himself to death if Death hadn’t started breaking his own rules.

-The silhouette in the retirement home window put him on guard, which prevented him from being found by Goldi and the Bears and spurred him back into action.

-His little taunt with the coins caused Puss to sober up and tell Perrito to drive faster, allowing Team Friendship to capitalize on Puss’s distraction instead of squander it with his posturing.

-The unicorn horn battle, where Puss was knocked prone and disoriented, so he’d probably have been hit if he hadn’t freaked out and ran off. And then while he was running he basically got herded to the tree where Perrito and Kitty found him.

-And the final battle on the Wishing Star, since he’s both in the middle of a three-way fight in an arena that’s trying to kill all of them and about to throw his current life away in a metaphorical sense by wishing to replace the ones he literally threw away.

jason dying sparks a fire in leo and he starts a decades long project of creating ultimate Weapons to protect demigods, each designed to perfectly complement his closest friends.

he toils and experiments and crafts in secret, then gives his creations to his friends, his family. happy ending, right? except leo is a prisoner of his own genius, with no self preserverence

and he creates a weapon for jason, his friend whose death started him on this journey

THE weapon for a lightning wielding demigod. the weapon to end all weapons, to level the playing field between mortal and immortal: a lightning bolt that a demigod can wield at full power. not a less powerful imitation like thalia's aegis but a real actual thunderbolt thats tailored for demigods

he realizes that making such a powerful tool is a deathwish, that the moment any god catches on to his hubris is the moment he's killed. his own father could kill him in a fit of jealousy: you're not allowed to be better or even just as good as the gods

he keeps jason's weapon hidden for a very long time. but when a daughter of jupiter comes along fighting for her life, destined to die, he freezes and sees sky blue eyes and blond hair and the air of someone who knows that she is going to be marched to her death (she's not his reincarnation, nico checked, but seeing her was like seeing jason all over again)

he brings out the lightning bolt.

One instant, one moment of carelessness, was all it took for their roles to instantly flip. Dog's massive body towers over him, cold metal claws pushing the entirety of its body weight down on his fragile bones.

Vina could feel his ribs cracking, buckling under the sheer amount of pressure. Arms desperately looking for something to grab onto, something to push it off himself. Dog watches over him with cold, unexpressive eyes.

"You will submit. Or you will die." Voice as cold as its eyes. Hurts just as much as the weight, if not more. "Choose."

"No!" He cries out, tries to push him away, tries to free himself. "Please! You're hurting me!"

Every breath feels like it's shallower than the last, lungs struggling for whatever space they can find to expand under the compressive force and failing miserably. Vina panics. If he doesn't say anything quick, soon he will have no breath to say anything at all.
