Until the sky opens up- iwaoidk- the summary lowkey did them dirty, not really tho cause I still read it😋🙄 but this was way better than I thought it was going to be, like iwaoi accidentally gets kissed by every member in his team, I'm still convinced that they did all that to make oikawa GET A MOVE ON, oikawa confesses and he's a little dense but so is iwa so whatever, they're perfect for eachother like that😻

hi! does anyone know the author of the fic where iwaoi were children and iwaizumi was just a child wandering around and playing on the forest while oikawa was the god of the forest??? i read a short fic on ao3 and it was breautiful but creepy and im dying to know more about it!! T___T

the author mentioned it was inspired by mars’ au but i cant find that mars :( the link at the end of the story was broken :( help!

I found that the characterization and the attention to detail the author put into the story is what made it a truly distinguishable and unique fic that allowed it to rise to the top. It is worth every kudos, comment, bookmark, and more. Highly recommend.

Behind Bricks by DeathBelle⭑

E, 60 k words, cw: prostitution, choking, and heavy content so READ THE TAGS

This darker fic follows Akaashi as he deals with his life as a prostitute, and how Bokuto comes in and is able to change it for the better. I feel sometimes that heavy topics such as the trauma from sex work are really misrepresenting in fanfiction, but the author does a great job of portraying it in a real way and not romanticizing it at all. I loved to watch love bloom for Akaashi in the cracks of his tumultuous life, because he deserves everything <333

In Another Life by LittleLuxray⭑

T, 22 k words, cw: terminal illness, hospitals, major character death

As the highest-rated Haikyuu fanfic on ao3, this work is a monument and will go down in Haikyuu history. That being said, it honestly did such a number on me that I think it deserves the hype. This hospital au revolving around Akaashi and Bokuto’s budding relationship is truly heartbreaking, to say the least. Read it at your own risk, and oh, you can find references to it under almost any Bokuaka related post.

This rollercoaster of a fic, set in a universe where Oikawa and Iwaizumi meet in a bar, is funny, profound, and awe-inspiring all in one. The relationship dynamic between the two is very cute and well-done. I highly recommend this one if you are a sucker for some good, old Iwaoi, and I also love the side pairings. Just, overall, a really nice and satisfying read.

This fic is a favorite on tik tok, from what I’ve observed. I haven’t read it yet, but when people discuss it, they always commend the writing and the non-linear narrative. I have personally not read this one yet, but I have seen people rave about this one because of the emotional impact it had on them. It seems to me that the writing and emotions on this one are its claims to fame, so definitely check it out.

Talk about raved about fics, I have seen this one mentioned countless times on various platforms. This Iwaoi fic is set in a Vegas/Japan fusion setting, which immediately caught my eye. The premise of a heist fic also is probably what caught people's attention the most, because what is better than an Iwaoi heist fic (nothing. nothing is better.) I recommend this if you want a bit of a longer fic that had a tumultuous plot and a wild romance.

This narrative about Sakusa’s life and his relationship with his sexuality is a masterpiece. I cannot recommend this one enough. You do not want to miss out on this genuine piece of art.

This fic follows Sakusa and Atsumu as they get stuck in the Philippines over quarantine. Honestly, if you want an enemies to lovers that really goes in depth into the trope, this is the one for you. One of my favorite things about this fic is the inclusion of the Filipino language, and I found myself reading all of the translations at the end. I would recommend this if you want a longer, feel good Sakuatsu fic. Also, lettersinpetals is a Sakuatsu classic author.

This fic is probably the notorious BDSM fic, which I’m glad because it portrays it in a very consensual and safe way. I’m personally not into that stuff, but I still was able to enjoy it for the plot and the amazing writing. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for something with BDSM components with some focus on their relationship dynamics too. I actually did really enjoy this fic, and I think the way their relationship kind of progressed backward was really, really good. Even if BDSM isn’t your cup of tea, I still recommend checking this one out and reading the tags to see if it is something you’re willing to give a chance too, because, for me, it paid off.

I have yet to read this fic. I am genuinely too afraid. Similarly to In Another Life, I constantly see people discussing to the degree in which this fic destroyed them, and honestly after In Another Life, I don’t think I could handle another one. This soulmates au has crushed so many people throughout the fandom that if you want someone to give you more detail on why it’s the saddest thing ever, you probably wouldn’t have to look very far.

This longer fic follows Kuroo, Kenma, and many others through a demon hunter/buffy the vampire-style universe, with magic, drama, and much more. If you are looking for a fantasy, action-packed, beautifully written fic, this is definitely one you should check out. The romance and action combination will always be chefs kiss, superb.

i won’t tag them since they’re not doing the whole tumblr scene anymore, but arguable my favorite fan author has to be suggestivescribe (they’re on ao3 if you wanna check out their works!!) listen. listen to me. suggestivescribe is incredible. they mostly do haikyuu, but I'm so lucky that they wrote three persona 5 fics, and two of them are akiryu and. they’re brilliant. i will never be as good as them, but i can try. they’re just!! the way they nail characters is astounding. their fic of akiryu (dyeing to kiss you) is probably tied with black star as my favorite p5 fic and that is saying a lot.

ok so about my “request” of them, it would be to write more akiryu. established. grand scale adventure. maybe something about tackling ryuji’s internalized homophobia that he never moved on from even while he’s dating and is in love with his boyfriend. i’d love that holy shit my depression would be cured

Okay so I'm in the middle of making fanfic rec posts when I thought maybe I should make a post for the fics everyone considers a 'staple' for the fic world LOL. Honestly, I don't actually know what is considered to be a classic fic at this point ngl LOL but these are some that people keep shoving into my face even after being stuck in fic hell for enough (too much) time :) But also these are basically just the top kudoed (is that allowed grammatically?) fics on AO3 for Haikyuu, just with my commentary LOL so for a mess free approach, just check AO3 ;') It'll be one or two MAJOR fics per ship and if you want more check out my other TBDone (as in I haven't finished them yet) posts LOL.

Not cause it's a bad fic, but because I have a crap memory LOLOLOL. Regardless, I know it's a good fic because like I said I managed to re-read on 2 separate occasions so yea.

Conquering the Great King by SuggestiveScribe (E) 105.6k // I LOVE THIS SERIES AHHHHHHHHH. Honestly I know the 105.6k word count is SCARY I UNDERSTAND BUT it is SO worth it. This is the first fic of the series and it's mainly IWAOI, but there are other ships too so if IWAOI isn't your thing, check for the other ships :) Also if you don't mind smut (cause it is explicit for a reason LOL) then please I beg of you to read the whole series!!!!!!! I love love love this one and it really got me invested in the whole fanfic thing LOL.

DAISUGA:

You'd fit my lonely arms so perfectly by boxofwonder (G) 25.1k // THIS IS SO FLUFFFFFFFFFFF. Please, it nearly gave me cavities LOLOL. As a dare you should read the DAISUGA from SuggestiveScribe (specifically from the breaking the rules series) and then read this I think that'd be funny LOL. Imagine going to the opposite ends of the DAISUGA spectrum in the same day LOL.

LOL oops idk something about reading relationships between first year's in high school irks me.... just first year's in Haikyuu dating at any time.... Anyways I don't really remember reading this one (again my memory is crap LOL) but it had been recommended by people before so knock yourselves out LOL. Also this one doesn't have a rating, but it's got some explicit-ish stuff in it, so read tags and warnings for sure!

TSUKKIYAMA:

by any other name by parenthetic (renaissance) (T) 4.8k // as much as I love tsukkiyama I don't read a lot of their fics for some reason (LOL OOPS) but this one hit all the right spots. The way yams is done, with his amazing facial reading abilities, and the way tsukki is so oblivious was so GOOD!

-I have cruised the pegoryu ao3 tag for over a year. And this one still sticks out to me. As a fic made in the beginning of the tag, it’s so great. Ryu getting his hair bleached is always something I’m for. And it captures the interactions between the characters so nicely. A light and airy vibe. And possibly one of the best kissing scenes I’ve read.

To answer this, it really depends on your ships? And your kinks hehe. I was going to post for recs for every ship, but got bored after Kagehina and Iwaoi. If you want more, or for a different pairing, just ask again. For now, here ya go:

Kagehina:

Binding Problem: magesticartax. 163,546. 28 chapters and ongoing. Rated E.

The most involved and canon-aligning fic that exists. Ongoing, but the author actually updates (though infrequently, so you’ll be waiting). It’s worth the wait I promise. Beautifully written mutual pining and the slowest, tastiest burn. Probably more like Teen an Up rating right now, but things should escalate soon.

Somewhere to Belong: Esselle. 37,761 words. 4 chapter. Rated E

Best Haikyuu au fic around. It’s a kageyama loner/sungod hinata au and it’s everything you need in your life. Also, I won’t tag them all, but EVERYTHING by this author is worth reading. You can find her Tumblr here.

Fate Mates: JeweledTygerLily. 95,339 words. 22/? Chapters (basically complete though, with a sequel started). Rated E.

Omegaverse au based on the infamous oneshot Oh God by Olympic Platinum, or orphan_account on ao3 I think, which is also a stellar read. This chapter fic, while it does have some awkward writing and grammar inconsistencies, is overall a fun and exciting read with emotional drama and good sex scenes. The sequel, Fates Revealed, continues with the characters playing volleyball in college (5 chapters, but on hiatus).

I like the Way Your Clothes Smell: Mysecretfanmoments. 75,278 words. 19 chapters. Not Rated

A classic, this fanfic probably was my first kagehina. It’s sweet and fun and there’s volleyball. What more could you ask for? I’d probably rate it Mature, but the author says where to skip if you want to avoid nsfw

Am I Gay? Please Help: buu. 37,371 words. 19/20 chapters (but complete honestly). Rated Teen and Up

Cute misunderstandings, Kageyama realizing he’s gay, and fluffy hinata not-dates! Also one of my first introduction into the fandom.

The Sum of Its Parts: anonymouschupacabra. 140,848 words. 54 Chapters. Rated E.

Kageyama has a child and lots of tattoos. Hinata is bakery fluff. Romance ensues. (It’s well written, but I’m not very down for Kagehina with past relationships tbh).

Model hinata is too short to make it! What happens when he becomes the assistant of the stoic top model Kageyama Tobio? Read and find out~~

The Sum of Our Parts: Vixen13. 47.890 words. 14 chapters. Rated E.

Don’t confuse this with the previous fic! This is a dramatic omegaverse where Kageyama bonds with Hinata to protect him from authorities that are anti-omega. He influences Hinata’s mind but ends up falling in love in the process.

Hunger Series: Esselle. 32,669 words. 4 chapters (plus continuation). Rated E

One more by Esselle! This one is omegaverse inspired where Hinata is a cute and innocent prince who runs into the lone wolf Kageyama in the forest and smexy times ensue.

Soul-pair: Yoloo312. 78,659 wordss. 27 chapters. Rated E.

Pretty similar to Fate Mates, but not quite as good. Omegaverse where you have soul mates.

The Heart of The Jungle: Esselle. 50,148 words. 6 chapters. Rated E.

One more Esselle because I can’t help it. This one is a tarzan au. HOT.

Can’t really explain? But if you read routine and then whole Milk, then you can read these two fics. I read these while sitting in a library and couldn’t stop shrieking outloud.

Emotional forest au where Hinata’s makeshift tribe take in and heal Kageyama, a hunter with a mysterious past. Includes some adorable daisuga and kuroken side plots.

The Kids Aren’t Alright: anonymouschupacabra. 69,493 words. 33 chapters. Rated Mature.

Coffee Shop au! Couldn’t not include at least one.

Parisienne Walkways: someonestolemyshoes. 3 parts. Rated Mature and Explicit.

Hinata pretends to be a girl and marries Kageyama at 17 to save his family and protect his sister. Plot idea is great, but writing and pacing certainly leave something to be desired. I usually skim for the cute Kagehina moments.

Just Friends: okoyee. 17,109 words. 5 chapters (very incomplete). Not Rated.

I hate putting up incomplete fics, especially those that look like they’ll never be finished. And yet…just trust me. These 5 chapters are everything. Also. If you comment maybe it will inspire the author to continue!

Easily the best iwaoi fanfic written. Omegaverse and consensual. Best portrayal of mutual pining iwaoi and they also play volleyball on the national team so extra plus! Gets hot and heavy right away too~~

The Alpha King & I: caelestisxyz. 147,276 words. 17 chapters. Rated E

Still omegaverse lol. Alpha Iwa-chan has been cursed to live hundreds of years wandering the Earth, alone, until he find the reincarnation of his past love of course. Side plot of Ken and Shigeru. I almost didn’t give this a read because of the fantasy/past lives aspect, but it’s pretty secondary to the romance. Definitely has drama and mentions abuse though (in the side plot) so check the tags.

The Jewel of Seijoh Series: timetopretend. 4 consecutive one shots. Rated E

The smuttiest, kinkiest, most indulgent iwaoi omegaverse you will ever read (but at your own risk). You. Need. To. Read. It. Honestly, read everything by this author.

A Place to Call Home: the_madame21. 191,554 words. 44 Chapters. Rated E

This omegaverse (are you sensing a trend in my tastes?!) fic is definitely worth reading. Not abusive/fully consensual, which is rare for omegaverse. Also, cute mommy Oikawa! and a decent side Bokuaka plotline. Two or three steamy lemons. 10/10 recommend. Pretty ooc though.

Healing the Broken: caelestisxyz. 108,726 words. 14 chapters. Rated E

Finally not omegaverse! Modern au where Iwazumi is a traumatized boxer who moves to New York to escape is troubles. Oikawa is in a band. Not so true to canonverse, but it’s a fun ride if you’re up for it.

Conquering the Great King: suggestivescribe. 105,591 words. 17 chapters. Rated E

Currently rereading this one actually. Lives up to the memory for sure. Mostly PWP and there’s smexy office sex and teasing Daisuga.

The author describes it as “a mix between the children->friends->lovers au and a Japanese folklore-ish story.” Oikawa is a god-like creature and Iwa happens to find him.

Shiver: Yuu_chi. 16,703. Oneshot. Rated Teen and Up

Another cute oneshot, but this time Iwa is the one figuring out he is in love.

Always, My Pillar of Faith. Starlitcities. 16,609. Oneshot. Rated Mature

Long a deep oneshot. Lots of Tooru pining. There’s cheating on an oc, but otherwise a fic that will give you feels in all the right places.

I CANNOT FIND my favorite iwaoi oneshot. This is calling all iwaoi fanpeoples to help me! It’s a long, slow burn where oikawa is a nerdy, smart, and sensitive child with no friends until bug collector Iwaizumi moves in next door and they become best friends. In high school tooru shoots up and girls start to flock to him, but Iwa knows that he is just the geeky, alien loving boy he always was. Obviously, they fall in love happily ever after. Any ideas??

I think they’re the ones I’ve re-read the most times..

“White Blank Page” simply is the best oikage fic I’ve ever read (and that means a lot because I have pretty much read every single oikage fic I could find), and i have a veeeery soft spot for soulmate AUs. Whenever I get an AO3 message, I hope it’s because this fic was updated.

“Sayuri” is discontinued, but it’s so brilliant and the plot is absolutely amazing, it’s just totally worth reading nevertheless. And it’s definitely something you can read even if you don’t care much about ships! Also heist AU?! Best idea ever.. (also check out this cool edit I made a while ago).

And “Conquering the Great King” is just good in so many ways?!?! I’ve never been much of an iwaoi shipper (they’re more BROTP to me tbh), but this fic holy shit 🔥🔥🔥 And your ask reminds me I haven’t read it in quite a while so guess what I’ll be doing this weekend…… 😂

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? Loook.....we all know I’m a piece of Lord of the Rings shit. That’s not a secret to anyone who has had even the tiniest bit of a conversation with me. Pilindiel is the elvish name for “archer” or “arrow” and since my last name is “Fletcher” ie, someone who makes fletching for arrows, I thought it would fit!

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? my prized possession....my lovely The Promise of the World.

3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it? It’s an icon of Batgirl from the most recent run of Batgirl comics! Barbara Gordon is one of my all time favorite fictional characters and the reaction icons that have been made of her are to die for they’re so funny.

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters? I have a couple on tpotw who have been so kind and commented on every chapter, but not much more than that. :’)

5. Is there a fanfic you keep going back to read again and again? Oh god...I go back to a lot of jm favorites when I’m in a bit of a slump and I’m always asking Lindsey for recommendations of her fics because her JM is always so incredibly superb. 6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? God I haven’t bookmarked fics in a LONG time (mainly because I feel like leaving a comment leaves a better impression) and I’m subscribed to most of the authors I like to follow anyway. 7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most? Man.....I live and breathe AUs for the ships I feel can fit them? I have so MANY for JeanMarco, which are a combination of horror and supernatural stuff so I suppose I’ll go with that? 8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? I’m gonna be honest I have no idea how you can check how many people are subscribed to you on AO3 but if we’re going by fics? Uh...239 bookmarks in total. 9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!) There isn’t anything I’m terribly worried about? I’m always nervous whenever I try to write stuff for vo//ltron though because...well....we know how those fans can be. 10. Is there anything you’d like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. I’m not very good at writing smut or fight scenes so that’s something I would love to be able to work on! 11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often? If we’re going with anything outside of haikyuu? I usually go with popular ships. ALAS HQ HAS SO MANY GOOD PAIRINGS. I keep most of them in my head, but if there’s a line or something that pops in for a specific story I will write it down before I forget. 15. Have you ever co- authored a story? Nope! I’d be too scared about embarrassing the other person :’) 16. How did you discover AO3? God....it was either REALLY early Jea//nMarco stuff or he//talia back when i was into it. Everyone in Het//alia started moving over to AO3 and I wanted to make an account so I could comment on their stuff properly. 17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3? LMAO hell no 18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers? HAH I’m lucky I get readers 19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write? Not particularly? I always get inspired to write when i read things by suggestivescribe or poppy, but I rely a lot more on my lovely friends who are willing to read my shit before I post it more than anything :’) 20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author? If you ever feel bad about your writing, send it to another friend who is a writer or who has a critical eye. They will always be willing to give you constructive criticism without compromising your voice to do so. 21. Do you plot out your stories or do you just figure it out as you go? I’ll usually do a bit of both: I’ll plot out major events I want in the story and how I want it to begin and end and then work my way through the story in chunks. Then I go back through and edit to make sure everything flows accordingly.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do? Nope! Then again, I rarely get feedback. 23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (Action, smut, etc) I've been working on how to write actions scenes and also improve my smut. I also want to sort of get more into the playfulness of Kyoya and Kaoru’s dynamic. I feel like there’s some meat I’m missing when I write them. 24. What story(s) are you working on now? Currently I have the final/extra chapter of tpotw in the works and my fic for the JMGE!!! 25. Do you plan your new projects before you finish your current ongoing story(s)? God you should see my phone. Pages upon pages of story ideas and new set ups for future things. It’s a mess. 26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself? If I set myself a deadline I will absolutely write 400 words a day at minimum. The first hurdle for a new story/new chapter is always the hardest I’ve found, so giving myself something small to start off gets the grime on the page to be edited later. 27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started? Yeah!! You should have seen the notebooks I ritualistically burned when I got to high school. God.....What was middle school me thinking. 28. What is your favourite story that you have written? Honestly?? I love Punishment by Association, The Tale of Smokin’ Gun Kirschstein, and The Promise of the World are my favorites I’ve written so far. 29. What is your least favourite story that you have written? I’m not terribly proud of the KyoKao stuff I’ve written - I feel like I need more practice with them. 30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years? Have some of my other long chapter fics done... 31. What’s the easiest part about writing? Dialogue always comes pretty easily to me?

32. What is the hardest part about writing? A STARTING POINT. I feel like I need to always build up to my writing before I put something on paper and that is such a terrible feeling. I’ll spend hours saying I’m going to write and then not get it done because I don’t want to start it off wrong. 33. Why do you write? I write because I like the ideas I have and I like exploring characters and relationships and I’m not funny or clever or popular enough to just make a quick text post about it lol
