Easter, prelude: A sunny day out in County Durham.

I took a weekend off for a bit of much-needed leisure before launching into work again. The sun has at last graced England with its presence and I had to make the most of it.

Auckland Castle was beautiful, and wonderfully restored. Greatly interesting to learn about its history as well as that of its many bishops.

i’ve been consuming an increasing amount of tea, wearing cardigans and waking up to the sound of rain, which is to say: i’m experiencing autumn in seville and my heart is full 🌾

sometimes the realization of time passing gets overwhelming; usually in the meditation of a long-held yoga pose, when the nostalgia steadily hits and outside the sun is setting and i want to capture it all (the view, the sound of slow breathing, the longing for familiar touch)

my gap year in photos

hi there! long time no see. it’s been well over a year since i graduated from uni, almost two years that i’ve been with my job since i was a wee intern, and this time a year ago, i told myself i would have applied to law school.

here i am a year later to report i didn’t manage to apply to law school.

the last year and a half has been a series of huge up and downs with the LSAT and writing a personal and diversity statement, on top of working full-time from home, being an involved family member, volunteering, and completing a two-year fellowship.

i did poorly on the LSAT, got pretty sick (a few times), and burnt myself to the point where i had to pause on this lifetime goal and focus on what is most important: myself (and my health).

if i could do this again, i wish that i took a WHOLE year to do nothing (just working) and one year to study for the LSAT.

and that’s exactly what i plan to do. take rest from law school applications, get healthy, re-make my game plan, and come back next fall better than ever to be the best and strongest applicant i can be.

which is why i’ll be back on studyblr regularly to post my progress, hold myself accountable, and get some motivation to get to the finish line. this community was the reason i got through senior year in high school, again in uni, and when i was job hunting.

i feel like being on here again willl be so worthwhile as i see myself in this next year of growth and development. consider this my (re)debut back to the commmunity!

So I started working in a lab, I'm officially an oceanographer!! I remember I was suuuper excited about it, bcs it IS a big deal to get a job only 3 months after my graduation! I'm learning so much and I like the prospects! And to top it off, my work is only 10min away from the beach, I can go there e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y if I want to!

Along with that, hum, my current obsession is to go to cafés, I don't know if you noticed yet hahah My city was doing small city stuff, like u know, having a gastronomic festival, and ofc I was part of it! Like I said, I'm living my best life now!

I was gonna wait till New Years to make this post but I felt sappy and just wanted to make it now just to remind everyone how much I appreciate you all! After getting a weekend break I got back to reading papers. There's this cute Cafe near my place that I had been meaning to go to since 2019. At the beginning of July, I thought it was the perfect time to allow myself to fulfill this wish. It was the first time I actually studied outside my house since the pandemic. I don't have words to describe to you how free I felt, just going outside, without any worries on how much would it cost me, how long would it take, bcs I was doing something I wanted to, I was doing something for ME.

In the following week I kept working on the Master's pre-project. But I was still unsure whether my proposals were even feasible. That was distressing me bcs 1. I planned to have finished the project before making the first contact with the future advisor and 2. I was already a few days past the deadline I had set. Once again, my therapist helped me. She told me "Why are you waiting to send an email to the professor? You could send an email introducing yourself, saying you're interested in being his student and asking what you need to show him to be considered for that position, right?". For as simple as it is, to me it was mind-blowing! Therefore, I started working on that email.
