MOON 0 | SMILING MOON
"Leappaw asks Irispaw how he feels about being a warrior."
“Hey- Iris, you doin’ okay?” Leappaw pads up the curved head of the monster, meeting Irispaw, who was loafed down on its flat back. Snow falls gently from the dark sky, piling on the earth below and coating the monster’s metal pelt.
Irispaw looks up. “Oh? Yeah, I’m fine. Just watching the stars.”
“Mhm,” Leappaw hums, sitting down beside him. “Whatcha thinkin’ about? You have that face on.”
Irispaw scoffs a laugh. “Do I really?” He sighs, bringing himself more upright to sit properly as well. “I guess I’m just… thinking about what our apprenticeships could’ve been like right now if we actually had mentors.”
Leappaw nods, forlornly considering the scenario. Nightstorm was supposed to be Irispaw’s mentor, and Sootfrost his own. Two siblings and incredibly talented warriors; even if it had never been said, they would have kept the pair of tight-knit apprentices training together. That had probably been why Star Shatter was going to appoint them as their mentors in the first place– because they’d understand that he and Iris were inseparable.
But Nightstorm and Sootfrost were taken from them. Leappaw remembers the moment that Sootfrost lifted her nose from Leappaw’s forehead- and in the instant after, she was bowling him away and caterwauling, alongside the shrieking of the rest of the colony, as their home was invaded by creatures of bloodthirst.
Leappaw remembers her cry to run before her neck was snapped by the catching jaws of a beast.
“What are we even supposed to do?” Irispaw murmurs, breaking his thoughts like Nightstorm’s spine was broken shortly after his sister’s.
“I think…” Leappaw pauses. His natural instinct is to reassure Irispaw no matter what- but Irispaw stares at him with truly evaluative amber eyes. Irispaw would know if there was a lack of sincerity. He had to truly think about it.
It was going to be hard. That much was undeniable– especially in the fresh leafbare season, the weather was hardly a pleasant fit for already difficult ordeals. Any prey they might be able to find would likely be hiding in the snow… the colony so far had been lucky enough to find the fallen bodies of little animals who hadn’t made it to shelter in time, or the leftovers of beasts that ate their fill and left the rest, to feed them. The two of them hadn’t actually done any proper hunting yet, other than an instance a few days before, in which a miraculously fat pair of quail were too slow in the thick snow to escape Leappaw and Irispaw’s bounding claws. That had truly been their best accomplishment by far, and it was only the beginning.
Additionally, the two of them did not know how to fight in the slightest. Tiny spars as kittens and the rare few practice sessions that warriors had allowed them to spectate hardly did them any good. How were either of them supposed to learn how to fight? Poolgleam couldn’t teach them– he didn’t know any more than they did. Or at least, Leappaw thought… maybe Poolgleam did know a thing or two after all.
Was it pure impulse or true fighting instinct when Poolgleam violently bashed in the head of the beast that’d been so close to mauling Leappaw?
There were so many things they were going to have to learn how to do on their own. Poolgleam’s knowledge only went so far, even if he did have hidden experience of some kind. Serpentkit and Bushkit would be facing this predicament when they started training, too. Perhaps by then, he and Iris would have knowledge enough to help them, but as it stood… that’s wishful thinking.
Leappaw sighed. “I dunno, Iris. It’s gonna be really tough. But…” He looked up from his paws, meeting Irispaw’s tired eyes again.
We’re not on our own.
Leappaw smiles a little. “We have each other,” he meowed, leaning forward slightly to butt his head into Irispaw’s shoulder. “I think we can make it work.”
Irispaw considers him for a few moments, before emitting an agreeing hum. Coolly, he meows back and returns the affectionate gesture, “I think so, too.”
Leappaw purrs. Sharing smiles like the moon shines its own on them, the two of them lay beside each other to keep warm and enjoy the beautiful snow falling from the deep violet sky a little longer. We can make this work.

Disclaimer: This post also serves as a tool to spread my DGS/TGAA Investigations game agenda.
Firstly, we need more Barok with a top hat 🎩. Make the man even taller. Who agrees?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly. They are on their way to an investigation. So this is what a DGS/TGAA Investigations game could look like. Kazuma looks neat (his university uniform with hachimaki band will forever be my favourite, though). Barok mainly (not solely) wears his ostentatious outfit on court days and more subdued - yet still very fancy - outfits outside of court days. But the steel boots go everywhere with him, as they are a trademark of his. As a noble and proper Victorian era gentleman, I assume he wears a top hat on his way to his office, to court and to other places. Hence, it seems the only way to see more of Barok in a top hat is in an investigations game as he moves around town. Ergo, we need Barok van Zieks Investigations, also starring Kazuma Asogi as his trusted apprentice, Gina Lestrade as a struggling but motivated detective, Maria Gorey as an eccentric but reliable coroner, Iris Wilson aka Iris van Zieks as an outside investigative consultant who shows up to a few investigations with her outlandish inventions (Barok assisted her in getting those approved as officially recognised tools), and Herlock Sholmes as the consulting detective menace who lets Iris take over the reigns but still 'graces' everyone with his presence as he attempts to drag Barok and Kazuma into his dances of deduction. Yes.
End of DGS/TGAA Investigations agenda and top hat Barok agenda.

"Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne makes magic on and off screen✨⤵️
Tumblr media
INTERVIEW "Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne makes magic on and off screen" BY DEBRA WALLACE for South Jersey Magazine
"His Wizarding Ways"
"Eddle Redmayne made a big impression in 2016, when he first stepped into the role of wizard and "Magizoologist" Newt Scamander for the hugely popular Fantastic Beasts film series. His on-screen work may have been a bit too spectacular for at least one diminutive group, though.
Redmayne's two young children-6-year-old Iris and 4-year-old Luke recently asked him to show off some of his Fantastic Beasts wizardry. Instead of magical fireworks, he produced a simple trick involving a coin, prompting his son to say, "But that's not the stuff you do in the trailer."
Redmayne's acting has earned him a lot of hardware: an Academy Award, a Tony Award, a British Film Award and two Laurence Olivier Awards. Noteworthy film roles include Les Misérables, The Danish Girl and The Theory of Everything, though he may be best known for his work in Fantastic Beasts.
Redmayne's role as a father trumps that of an award-winning actor. After the most recent Fantastic Beasts film was completed, Redmayne's daughter wanted to play with Newt's wand, and of course he agreed. An hour later, she had "covered the thing with tin foil, made a little star, and turned it into a fairy wand," he says.
The latest installment of the series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, premiered in theaters on April 15, and it is expected to be released on DVD, Blu ray, and Digital HD in July. For those who have not yet seen the film, Redmayne shared his perspective on what viewers can expect.
Q&A
How would you describe your new Fantastic Beasts movie?
"Dumbledore (played by Jude Law) sends me and a band of outsiders on a heist to save the wizarding world from Grindelwald, who's the archnemesis. It's full of wonder, magic and whimsy, and it's got a lot of humor and heart to it"
What do you appreciate about your character Newt?
"What love about Newt is that fundamentally he's an introverted guy and is most comfortable with his creatures and in his own world. But Dumbledore has seen a quality in him that has the potential for leadership, albeit in an unconventional way. ... All of us are unconventional, and the leader is unconventional, and there's a kind of wonder in that".
"I love the Newt-Dumbledore relationship because it's got that complexity of mas ter and apprentice, but it's evolved through out the movies to being something almost fraternal; a sort of older brother and younger brother. There's a moment in this film where Newt takes it upon himself to see the vulnerability in Dumbledore and tries to pass on a mode of wisdom to him, so that is clearly a progression".
Did you know the whole story before filming started?
"As far as the story of the arc of the series, it was sort of given to us each script at a time. Occasionally, we would get snippets of what might be coming up in the next films, and there would be quite a lot of whispers. "Did you hear this?" One of the amazing things about our director, David Yates, is that even though the script is there and the technical creative aspects of that script are a big tech nical feat, he would allow us as actors the freedom to improvise, to come up with new ideas, to change things or modulate things on the day of shooting.... That for me has been some of the most fun. A lot of these actors in the film are brilliant at improvising so watching them improvise and add just extra layers was wonderful".
Have you learned anything from your time playing Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts series? He seems to have grown a lot over the course of the three films.
"Oh, that's a lovely question. I adore Newt, and there are many things that I love about him. I love that he's an incredibly empathetic person. He looks for the good in people. He's also very happy in his own company, and in the company of creatures. Newt is someone that enjoys silence. I'm someone that in my anxiety tends to fill too. many words, like I'm doing now. But along with that, there are various epithets or things that he said which I now try and live by.... One is that worrying means you suffer twice, which was in the first movie. I'm a great worrier and I always tell myself that if the horrendous thing's going to happen, then there's no point worrying about it be cause it's going to happen anyway and you've just kind of doubled your pain".
Which is your favorite spell from all of the Wizarding World movies?
"I would say the Tarantallegra one. ... It is all about making people dance; something that I really can't do. It was just so random. It is kind of a metaphor. I think in life ran domly making yourself feel better by people randomly dancing is always quite fun".■

Kingdom Lore!
Structure!
The leader is a King or Queen, and they are in charge of all of the operations of their Kingdom. The King or Queen goes to a special place called the Star Stones to receive the blessing of a ruler. A King or Queen stays in the castle, on the third floor, which serves as their home and dwelling place.
Just under the leader is the Second. There is no restriction on gender, much like the ruler or Healer. They are in charge of hunting, border, and fishing patrols, as well as ensuring the Honorary Healer has enough herbs to assist in caring for their Kingdom. The Second stays in the castle with the ruler, but on the second floor instead.
The Honorary Healer is highly respected by everyone in the Kingdom. They share a strong connection to the people of The Great Stars, or the deceased members of the Kingdom. The Healer stays in their own tent.
The main members of a Kingdom are called Knights. A Knight must be a minimum of eighteen years old before gaining that rank, must know how to catch a large fish, take down a deer with a bow and arrow, and properly defend the borders with little assistance from their trainer. The male Knights stay in one tent, and the females stay in another across from the men.
Trainees are the equivalent of an apprentice. A twelve-year-old can choose to be a Healer trainee or a Knight trainee; it is their decision most times, or their parents may choose their path for them, depending on a few factors. Training to be a knight lasts approximately six years, while being a Healer takes four. The trainees stay in another tent.
Minors are the equivalent of children, before becoming a trainee. Minors are cared for by their mothers, or Maidens, until they are old enough to begin their training. The Maidens and Minors stay in a tent, too.
The horses’ stable is located behind the male or female Knight tents, and every Knight and Knight trainee has a horse kept there. The ruler’s horse is kept by the castle with the Second’s horse, while the Healer’s horse is kept beside their tent.
Other kingdoms!
There are five Kingdoms: Dahlia (pink), Dandelion (yellow), Iris (purple), Rose (red), and Magnolia (white.)
Every Kingdom is arranged, rank-wise, the same, but the layout of the Base (camp) can be varied.
Names!
Infants are born with an ancient name, sometimes named after an ancestor or one of their parents- even the ruler, at times. (Examples include Agnes, Alice, Athena for females; Ernest, Apollo, Felix for males.)
Your name stays the same throughout your life, whatever your role in your Kingdom, but if one chooses, they can be referred to as “Healer Ernest”, for example.
History!
The Kingdoms were founded by five sisters with the names of each Kingdom. They were princesses once, but ran away from home after fighting over the same prince.
The young women ended their argument and decided to form what is now known as The Five Kingdoms.
Weapons/fighting!
The Knights fight with swords, and each sword has the owner’s name on the handle.
Knights are not permitted to kill another person unless absolutely necessary.
Other!
While all of the Kingdoms are accepting of any LGBTQ+ individual, it is forbidden to be in a relationship with someone from another Kingdom.
If a child decides to be a Healer before they become a trainee, they can assist the Healer in gathering herbs and doing things around the Kingdom for practice.
The seasons are as follows: summer is Sun-Season; winter is Snow-Season; spring is New-Season; autumn is Leaf-Season.

THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE Presents: An Updated Family Tree for 🌿 The Birthday Party. 🌿
*This Page is Subject to Random Updates*
BERNARDO
A personification of the Sun, whose love is ecstasy and immolation, life and death.
TERRA
A personification of the Earth, of might. “Terra” (*in my world) is the root of “terror,” of “terrifying.” She is represented as a woman in a sky-blue veil or cloak, sometimes haloed by the sun. Her symbol is a Macaw.
The marriage of the Sun and the Earth, Bernardo and Terra, gives us night and day, the archetypical experience of the passage of time. Their children are, accordingly, the three states of time; past, present, and future.
RUPERT
Rupert is a personification of the Past. He is the eldest of Terra and Bernardo’s children and represents exploitation, greed, and repression. His symbol is the dragon. He murders his father to protect his mother Terra and sister Pia, and to avenge the death of his sibling Calix.
CALIX
Calix is the personification of the Present. They are the second child born to the marriage of Terra and Bernardo. While they are still a child, they’re murdered by their overbearing father. Henceforth, the present becomes “fleeting;” a realm, disconnected from the rest of time (timeless, without memory, eternally youthful). Calix is said to inhabit this realm as an eternal child (over time they become known as ‘the noontide demon’).
PIA
Pia is a personification of the Future, or the drive/openness to change. She is the youngest of Terra and Bernardo’s children, and the only one to have children of her own with her partner, a personification (among many) of Fate, named Chia. Their children are: Bruno (Winter Time), Cordelia (Spring Time), Cleo (Summer Time), and Iris (Autumn Time *Why don’t we say this?).  She is the guardian of children and young people. Her symbol is the hare.
The marriage of the Future and Fate, Pia and Chia, gives us repetition. This is the reason why their children are the seasons; they are natural  (because they are also grandchildren of the Earth, Terra) cycles.
BRUNO
The eldest of Pia and Chia’s children, Bruno is a representation of Arctic Winter (snow and ice), hardship, and death.
CORDELIA
Cordelia is a personification of spring and Pia and Chia’s second child. She is a representation of procreation and reproductive rights. She is also the guardian of children and young people. Like her mother, Pia, she is the only one of her siblings to have children of her own; through parthenogenesis, Cordelia has twins Juno (Truth) and Celeste (Beauty). She is later burned at the stake (at a lynching.) Her symbol is the frog, and she is associated with water and monsoons (rainy seasons).
CLEO
Cleo is the third of Pia and Chia’s children. They represent summer, abundance, and wealth and are most like their grandfather, Bernardo. In extremes, they also represent drought and famine (dry season).
IRIS
The youngest of Pia and Chia’s children. They represent autumn, the liminal state between life and death, and are the herald of ghosts. Their symbol is a black moth, a living messenger of death.
None of the four siblings mentioned above is currently living.
JUNO
One of Cordelia’s twin daughters, Juno represents truth. After the death of her mother, she’s beaten to the brink of death and is rescued by her grandmother, Pia (or grandmothers, I haven’t decided). Her symbol is a monkey.
CELESTE
The second of Cordelia’s twin daughters, Celeste represents beauty. After the death of her mother, she is kidnapped by the murderous mob and is also rescued by her grandmother, Pia (or grandmothers, I haven’t decided). Her symbols are a pink river dolphin and a star.

Paladin Series Characters
Because I did this instead of writing so I might as well post it :) Here’s a more formal intro for the ones you’ve met as well as the ones you haven’t!
Tumblr media
Paladin (27)
Each city has a Hero that acts as law enforcement and receives federal funding. Paladin is his city’s appointed Hero and is known for being charming and adored by all. His powers are telekinesis and général mind magic. He likes to be in control of a situation. The Heroes of various cities have an underground human trafficking operation where they can get whumpees, but Paladin had never found one he liked until Caroline walked through his door.
Tumblr media
Caroline (18)
Rather than going to college, Caroline decided to try and see if she could apprentice under Paladin, since they have the same powers. Like everyone else, she was enthralled with Paladin. She’s kind of spunky and hipster and likes discovering things no one else knows about. She’s usually very sarcastic, and she has claustrophobia.
Tumblr media
Hugo (20)
He is a college student in the city, and he changes his major so often that he probably couldn’t even tell you what it is. He has definitely had enough caffeine in the past hour to kill three grown men, and has probably not spoken to another human being in over a week. He struggles with depression and feels isolated ever since cutting ties with his family because he’s bisexual and had a boyfriend freshman year of college. Said boyfriend left him when he discovered his powers, which are basically that he can absorb his opponent’s attack and use it against them.
Tumblr media
Vert (18)
Vert is part of The Agency, an undercover group that is dedicated to taking down the Heroes because of their corruption. He joined two years ago. He likes facts and reason, and is the Softest Boy. His parents named him Vert because he was born with green eyes, but as he grew up they turned hazel. Green is still his favorite color, though, so it’s okay.
Tumblr media
Sai (21)
He is very protective of Vert, basically his big brother. He also opposes the Heroes, but rather than join The Agency he trained himself with knives and used his parkour skills to become a self-proclaimed Villain, as he is in complete opposition with the Heroes. He is very morally gray, which people who know him would never guess since he’s very charming and sociable. He takes great advantage of the fact that he can drink and never stops making gags of it around Vert and the others when they’re back on their bs. He’s also an art student.
Tumblr media
Iris (19)
She is new both to The Agency and the the city, as she was sent there on assignment. She really likes girly self-care things and even though she’s an amazing cook she still eats mostly junk food. She’s super sweet and loves classic rock. Although she’s taking a couple years off of school, she wants to be a therapist one day.
Tumblr media
Thaddeus (19)
They’re a college history student, a certified Nerd, and they’re Iris’ partner. They like finding obscure old tv shows and movies and WILL argue that Star Trek (TOS) is better than Star Wars. They garden and go to the farmer’s market a lot (they’re kind of a homebody) so they can spend time cooking with Iris and listening to her favorite music. Although they’re not a part of The Agency, they know what’s going on and are fully supportive of Iris as long as she’s not pushing herself too hard.
Tumblr media
Siren (18)
She’s new to the city but knows a lot about The Agency. Mostly avoids people despite being passionate and sweet when you talk to her. She’s incredibly work-oriented but enjoys spending time in nature and being spontaneous when she has time. She’s an idealist and opposes everyone who uses their powers: heroes, villains, or vigilantes. Although she spends her time working towards a better world, she has a dark side that few see.
Picrews I used:
Caroline, Iris, and Siren
Paladin and Hugo
Vert, Sai, and Thaddeus

Create for Thra, Day 2: Original Characters (Post 2 of 2)
And now for my “baby gelfs”. I’m very nervous about introducing these to the wider world, so hopefully you all like them :). Once again, these babies are from my Maudra series. I can’t draw, and as such I don’t have any art to share - I hope you enjoy these little word sketches and the short excerpt from a piece I’m working on at the end.
Elidi – Drenchen
Elidi is the eldest daughter of Maudra Naia and Amri. She is the perfect combination of her parents. Her skin is like her mother’s, deep green with a hint of gold. Her eyes are bright blue with gold flecks – in the dark, her pupils get just as large as her father’s, rendering her iris nearly unnoticeable. During the day, her pupils are only slightly larger than a daylighter’s – it’s enough to make her sensitive to light, though, and she often wears clothing with hoods to drape over her head when the three suns are at their highest point. Her hair reaches to the middle of her thighs and is done in the traditional style of the Drenchen maudren with decorated locks and beaded braids. It is silvery-white just like her father’s, except for the streaks of deep Drenchen blue and a lighter Grottan teal. She is petite. She inherits her wings from her father’s side of the family, though they are black, purple, and indigo just like her mother’s. Elidi is cautious – though she is fierce just like her mother, she also has her father’s tendency to investigate her circumstances before charging into them. She doesn’t trust immediately, and she has a knack for reading people’s emotions and seeing through any artifice. Elidi studies vliyaya and healing with her mother and Aunt Eliona in addition to preparing to be the next Drenchen maudra. She is an extroverted introvert and prefers to spend time with family and close friends wherever possible. Although she is good in front of a crowd, being in the spotlight fills her with a nervous energy. Luckily for her, she looks less like she’s nervous and more like she’s on the prowl when she fidgets. The clan knows her to be a competent healer and leader and trusts her in her position as second-in-command to Maudra Naia.
Oria – Drenchen
Oria is Naia and Amri’s second child and is two trine younger than Elidi. She’s only a few inches shorter than her father. She inherited her intensity and her Drenchen wings from her mother, but the rest of her is all Grottan. Oria’s hair is the same silvery-white as her father’s. The humidity in Sog makes her hair slightly wavy, but by mid-day, it is almost always straight and heavy. She keeps it long, though not as long as Elidi’s, and she only keeps a few braids in her hair as a marker of her status. As her father’s star apothecary and alchemy apprentice, Oria can usually be found in the workshop, her hair messy and tied back away from her face, and goggles strapped over her eyes. Her eyes are bright gold, and her gaze is so sharp that she can intimidate people easily. Like her sister, her pupils can expand and contract depending on the ambient light. She doesn’t look much like either one of her parents, but she is a spitting image for Amri’s mother. Though she inherited her wings from Naia’s side of the family, they are a bright teal blue and glistening silver. With high cheekbones and skin that is closer to gray than green, Oria’s unique looks in the swamp of Sog make her stand out – and she loves it. While her older sister is uncomfortable in the spotlight, Oria lives for it. She’s the life of every room, and she wears her emotions on her sleeve. People know where they stand with Oria – she doesn’t wait for the invocation of hard-talk to express her feelings. She loves the water, and if she’s not in the workshop, she’s likely exploring the lakes and waterways of Sog. Oria is likely to get herself into trouble at any opportunity, and she treats rules more like guidelines. She is fiercely competitive with her younger brother, and though she is happy in her chosen career, she longs to see the world – but she can’t leave the swamp. No one can.
Zain – Drenchen
Zain is Naia and Amri’s third child and is only one trine younger than Oria. Zain is mostly deaf (except for low tones like thunder), and he uses the Dousan sign language to communicate. He is a carbon copy of his father, and during his younger years, he even wore the same hairstyle. As a young adult, he changes his style, shaving both sides of his head and keeping the rest secured back in a braided tail or bun. Zain’s skills with healing vliyaya rival those of his oldest sister, and he trains alongside her to become an advanced healer. Like Oria, he is extroverted; however, he keeps his emotions on lockdown. He values his family above all else, and though he is fiercely competitive with Oria, they have an intensely close bond. He also has a close bond with his baby sister, Zenna, and is the one Elidi goes to for advice due to his level head and calm demeanor.
Shiri – Grottan
Shiri is Deet and Rian’s second child. She was born only months before Oria, and they grew up as the best of friends. Shiri is very shy and doesn’t make new friends easily – as such, her circle is very small. Shiri’s childhood is marked by periods during which her mother is overwhelmed by grief at the loss of Shiri’s older brother, Jen. Shiri never gets the chance to know him, but she feels like she is always in his shadow. Though she is raised to follow in her mother’s footsteps as the next Grottan maudra, Shiri isn’t sure she wants to be a maudra at all. She’s got an ear for music, and she’d much rather become a song teller. She learns to play her father’s old lute in her spare time. Shiri’s got Rian’s tan skin and blue coloring, but she has Deet’s messy hair and long ears. Her eyes can adjust to the ambient light, and they are a deep blue color like her father’s. Her hair is a dirty brown with streaks of Stonewood blue, and her wings have the characteristic bright blue and orange coloring common among the Stonewood. She is the same height as her mother, and she’s quiet most of the time – unless she’s singing, that is.
Koa – Sifa
Koa’s parents are both Drenchen; however, they left Sog long ago to join the Sifa. Koa grew up on white sand beaches and on the decks of ships, but he’s always wanted to see the mainland and explore the swamps where his parents grew up. Koa is tall for a Gelfling, and he’s also bulky from his days manning the sails and loading/unloading cargo. He’s got Drenchen locks, but they are covered with Sifan bells and golden trinkets. As a young adult, Koa gets a job working on Elder Onica’s ship, which docks in Sog’s port city of Seaside, only a day’s kayaking distance from the Great Smerth.
Zenna – Drenchen
Zenna is Naia and Amri’s youngest child. Born ten trine after Zain, she is the baby of the family. She looks like her mother, though her eyes are Amri’s dark honey brown. Like her Uncle Gurjin, she is usually unruffled and steady of temperament. Though she isn’t yet sure what she wants to become, she knows she loves the ocean.
And now, an excerpt from mah girl Elidi’s POV:
“She watches the ripples on the surface above as she drifts in the current. The water is cool along her neck, crisp in a way she isn’t yet used to. She knows the concept of cold, though she’s never felt it herself before. The water isn’t cold, yet, but it has certainly changed.
The rains have not stopped for three days. The waters surrounding Great Smerth have long-since spilled over the edges of the Glenfoot, and the islands Elidi grew up knowing have vanished beneath the surface of the swollen lake. It is almost as if they never existed at all. Like her people, they are hidden away, waiting for the storm to pass.
Has it passed? She looks at the line of crystal embedded in the bluestone on the lakebed. Though the vein went clear three days ago when the suns burned as one, Elidi still hasn’t touched it. She doesn’t think she ever will. She tried once when she was a childling. Her mother had been nearby and tugged her away. Naia had clung to her when they’d surfaced, and she’d shouted at Elidi as she never had before or since. She hadn’t been angry – she’d been terrified. It’s a sound that’s never left her.
There is a great splash at the edge of the Glenfoot, and Elidi rights herself in the water column as her sister plunges to the very bottom of the lake. Oria’s at her side with two pumps of her wings, and she raises her hand immediately. Elidi presses her palm to Ori’s, and her sister’s anxious voice fills her mind.
They’re waiting for you in Mum’s chamber. They’ve been telling everyone that we need to leave Great Smerth.
Elidi’s brow wrinkles, and she looks past the ripples at the towering heights of her home. Her mother’s balcony is only three levels up. She’s accustomed to seeing her mother standing there, proud and wild. But the balcony is empty, save for the wind and the rain and stray apeknot leaves knocked loose in the deluge.
We’re not leaving Great Smerth. It’s just a bit of rain. Elidi kicks for the surface, and Ori stays with her, hand in hand.
Aunt Pemma is with them. She’s trying to keep them from starting a panic. She thinks we’re fine here in Smerth, but she wants to evacuate New Domrak.
Have they found Deet, yet?
Oria pulls her hand away. Her expression is all the answer Elidi needs, and the two girls continue to the surface surrounded only by the muffled silence of the water.
They glide over the submerged Glenfoot and toward the stairs that lead into the Great Smerth. Elidi plants her feet on the lowest stair and as soon as her head clears the water, her sense of peace is shattered. The glade is louder than she’s ever heard it. People are calling out to one another on the rope and wood pathways strung through the canopy above, and as Gelfling move their belongings out of the residences on the ground floor, the Stone’s Way echoes in a cacophony of anxiety.
She takes a deep, steadying breath, and then she climbs the staircase, exiting the lake and entering the great tree. She keeps her head high, attempting to project a sense of confidence that she doesn’t feel. When will Mother come back? she asks herself. Perhaps they’ll stop panicking when Mother comes back…
Oria remains at her side, only one step behind, all the way to the third floor landing. Elidi can hear the council members bickering all the way in the hall, and she exchanges a frustrated glance with her sister before entering the room.
She stands tall and says nothing until they all look at her and come to a silence. It’s something her mother taught her long ago, and with her short stature, it’s a technique she depends on to gain attention. Her Aunt Pemma gives her a firm nod of approval, and she can feel Oria standing behind her, tall and firm. She’ll hug her sister and her aunt later. For now, she has a job to do.
She catches every eye in the room, then raises a single eyebrow. “Which of you are responsible for all this huff-puff, then?”

So I saw a gifset from the episode Power Outage that reminded me that in season one - and presumably season two - Ralph Dibny is actually dead. He died because of the accelerator explosion in December 2013, but presumably due to Flashpoint he's alive by the time season four rolls around. (So he's actually alive in season three.)
In the show, the only two people who might have realized that Ralph being alive is a product of Flashpoint are Barry (because he lived in that pre-Flashpoint timeline) and Cisco (because Vibe powers). But neither of them mention it, so I guess we'll never know for sure that his survival isn't actually down to the Legends meddling with time (like the Scooby-Doo gang, but with a significantly cooler ride - sorry, not sorry, Mystery Machine).
Anyway, all of this has reminded me of a fanfic idea I've had in the back of my head for a while.
So it'd start with Barry's return from the Speed Force at the start of season four. Iris and Eddie are married and various other changes abound as i see fit. Barry comes back still massively out of touch with reality and writing in the speedster glyphs and Wally gets help from Jesse to defeat the Samuroid bot. Also Wally isn't Kid Flash anymore - he has taken on the mantle of the Flash in his own right.
Barry starts recovering slowly, but as he does his understanding of the glyphs he's writing with wanes... even though he keeps doodling them all over the place. He winds up quitting his job at the CCPD because he's just... not in a place where he can hold down a job right now. He's also not 100% sure anything is real and that he's not still stuck in the Speed Force and he's reluctant to seek out therapy because of his experiences with therapists as a child were not good and also he'd need to discuss being the Flash which... not happening.
Which is when the bus metas start showing up (out of show order). Wally gets the indignity of the marble-related pratfall and accidentally meta-cuffing himself. Barry starts to gain more confidence in himself and his reality when he's able to shut down the accelerator before it goes critical, moments before Wally successfully cuffs Hazard. (Presumably the accelerator actually exploding would have been very unlucky for Becky, so something would have to make it shut back down, right?)
Linda returns leading to relationship drama for Wally and Jesse. Wally finds Linda attractive but would never cheat (also Linda's really only aware of him as Iris' younger brother right now), which Jesse knows but she feels jealous anyway and she doesn't like what that says about herself. She also feels like she's stretching herself really thin trying to protect Earth-2, act as Jay's back-up on Earth-3 (because he's starting to slow down and is still looking for an apprentice, but hasn't told anyone on Earth-1 what's happening to him yet), and both date and help Wally on Earth-1. It's too much work and too much stress and too much running between different Earths. She eventually decides that, much as she cares about Wally, their relationship isn't really what she needs right now and they part ways. A hopefully more satisfying break up than what we got on the show with that cube thing. Also the thing with Kilg%re happens.
Barry realizes - using Cisco's translation program - that he keeps writing something about a bus in the speedster glyph doodles. (Cisco's translation program is incomplete.) OG Team Flash connects Becky and Ramsey back to Bus 405, which Barry... er... Flashed the day he returned from the Speed Force. (hehehehehe) They're able to identify Ralph and a few other people who were on the bus because their bus passes were logged on boarding. It's still not clear who was on the bus at the time Barry Flashed it (*snicker* i regret nothing). But Ralph had to be because, well, he boarded the bus the stop right before the Barry accidentally acted like an EMP on the bus' electronic systems.
And Barry's issues with parsing reality are triggered because he remembers two versions of Ralph thanks to time traveling and memory integration - let's just say that Barry has memories of both pre and post Flashpoint timelines and say the story would theoretically handwave it better than I'm prepared to do right now. So Barry remembers this version of Ralph, who faked evidence and was a dick to Barry (almost misspelled that as being a duck to Barry). But he also remembers another version of Ralph, who didn't fake evidence and was Barry's friend and died in a car accident trying to reach the hospital after finding out Barry'd been struck by lightning while Ralph was at home and off duty and should have been safe. (Hello Barry's guilt complex which no one actually missed.)
Barry's memories are a tangled mess (gee, thanks Speed Force), so Caitlin goes with Barry and Joe when they meet Ralph. And Ralph's knee jerk reaction to keep them at arms length - especially as he's concerned they're crooked, which isn't that ironic from his PoV - is to combine obnoxiousness with sarcasm and pepper in some misogynistic comments that piss off Caitlin enough that Frost pops out to play. Joe clearly freaks out and tries to pretend he isn't freaking out. Barry just... goes with it. Whatever, Frost is part of Caitlin and Caitlin is part of Frost and he doesn't have the time, inclination, or the survival instinct to go "enemy sighted, begin defensive measures". He's just kind of like "hey Frost, nice to see you again, I've been hoping to talk w/you, but can it wait until we're done with Ralph? Or is Caitlin not gonna give you enough time for that? 'Cause I guess we're basically done here anyway."
Meanwhile Ralph is quietly freaking out with a blank O_O expression. Because Killer Frost. KILLER FROST. His fight or flight instincts are weighted heavily to freeze in place and hope to spontaneously blend into the environment.
Which is when the mob guys show up and Barry just kind of starts laughing upon learning that this version of Ralph is basically living a crime noir plot because the other Ralph loved that genre so much. Something triggers Ralph's powers while Frost cheerfully freezes the bad guys shoes to the floor and Joe arrests them. Ralph insists he was never blackmailing anyone, and Barry and Frost wind up taking him to STAR Labs while Joe waits for Eddie to show up to help him take in the thugs.
Barry and Frost do end up talking - Cisco side-eying them hard even as he gets Ralph settled in to wait for Caitlin to come back. And Barry apologizes to Frost. For how the team treated her and how Savitar treated her and just... everything. He'd like to hope they'd have handled the situation better if they'd understood Frost was a separate personality entirely, but the truth is they fucked up and pushed Frost into the position of thinking turning to Savitar was her only choice. And he hopes that she'll give them a chance to do better by her this time. Frost says she'll think about it and pretends she's not tearing up as she lets Caitlin take back over.
that's kind of where my ideas dry up and I'm not really ready to tackle writing any of this as an actual fic yet, but... I kind of saw this as a series that would include my headcanon for Ralph being face blind and him eventually bonding with Barry over the similarities between Ralph's struggle with accepting his disability and Barry's struggle in acclimatizing to his own post Speed Force incarceration disability, but with the adding drama of Barry's friendship with the Ralph-who-died and his guilt there complicating things too.
Barry would eventually take up the mantle of the Flash again with Rip showing up shortly after to borrow Wally for the Legends, though I've got no idea how that would play out. And Julian's still in there somewhere since he's still the CCPD's CSI even though Barry's had to quit. I imagine Ralph and Julian would very much not get along. (Julian and Eddie, though... they would definitely get along.)
