The vine had long been a beloved symbol of Israel... in the Last Supper discourse, on the way to Gethsemane, it acquires a new dimension, the pain of pruning. However, the suffering of Jesus is not the principal point here: [rather, it is that all] disciples of Jesus must be prepared to bear the pain of pruning. The image is a powerful one. To an uninstructed onlooker, the wretched, seemingly lifeless twigs left on the vines appear totally unable to burgeon in a few months into the rich harvest of grapes. The most powerful of all the aspects of the symbol is the sap pulsing through those apparently dead branches. There is all the difference in the world between those docked shoots [still thriving within], and the dead twigs scattered on the ground, [their wild growth availing nothing. Humble] adherence to the vine, to Christ himself, alone gives life to the Church.
Dom Henry Wansbrough; Commentary on John 15

"Every branch in Me bringing forth no fruit, He is taking it away, and every one bringing forth fruit, He is cleansing it, that it may be bringing forth more fruit."
"Fear is not in love, but perfect love is casting out fear, for fear has chastening. Now he who is fearing is not perfected in love."

He doesn't care.
He doesn't care that my heart could break without him. He says he wants me to be happy. That he cares about me and wants me to be happy. Doesn't he know that he is what I want. He can make me happy. It can be so simple. He says he wants what's best for me. But if he truly felt that, if he wasn't lying, he wouldn't brush it off. He wouldn't make it sound like I could be with someone else. That I could be without him. That I would even want to. Or that I could be happy alone when I've already had a taste of him and everything he had so lovingly and eagerly given to me before the world split in two and separated us a further distance than just Ontario and Florida. There are days that I'm so angry. But I try not to be. There are days where I am so sad. But I try not to be. I am always grieving. I want so much to be the happy person that I was before. I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't want any of this. I avoided everything having to do with it. I was so careful. But I was given it. I was given it and in the beginning, it was so good. And then it was taken back. Ripped away from me. Life, joking with me. And now I'm just supposed to be happy. But I find myself crying at 1:41 PM, in my mother's office at work. To myself. Hysterically. Silently. By myself. Just the way he made me feel. And it feels like God isn't listening to my prayers. As much as I cry out to Him for help. To ease this pain. To make me forget. To pull me out of this mud and mire that I didn't ask for. But nothing is happening. It feels like nothing is happening and it was so fine before. I was so fine. And now I am broken, wondering when I will finally heal and forget about all this. When will I have traversed enough time to put enough distance between me and these emotions that tear through my muscle and bone. I have never known so much anguish. I have never known this much grief.
Yet I feel so much urgency. Like if I continue to feel this, if I continue to stay in these feelings, I'm elongating this process God has me going through. I'm postponing the blessings. But I don't know how to heal any faster. I don't know how to be ok.
— Excerpt from a book I'll never write, William

Now I'm reading The Pruning Shears of Revision, and oh look, it's another red flag if you know anything about mysticism and the occult: "I was totally the subject of a Very Important Prophecy as a child!"
When I was a boy of seven, a lady said to me, “I have had a vision concerning you. I’ll make it now very, very clear to you–I do not know what it is you are going to do, but I’ve been shown you will do something that through the centuries after you are gone man will not undo it. I can see it and through the centuries you will grow in stature long after you have gone. And then three men will be mentioned in hundreds of years to come and you will be one of the three when something is discussed that was done for man.”
Spiritual grifters love to paint themselves up as these grandiose figures, and it's really just not uncommon for them to claim somebody foretold that they'd be super important when they grew up.
Damn, our boy is Neville really racking up the red flags over here.

Farewell
I implore you to not craft me into a villain in your story. But if you must, please know that when seasons fade, we mustn’t become full of jade. Together, we planted seeds with intention, and shared the bounty of our harvest. But in our rapport, I began to experience a vibrational shortage. For there was deep love that could no longer sprout between us. Like stems on a branch, I had to migrate trees. I trust that you will be safe, no matter how turbulent you may find the seas. And as I paddle towards a greater truth and resonance with the divine, I am glad that you and I were once of the same vine.

Meditation for the Lenten Season: Seeking Righteousness
Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:11, NRSV) #Righteousness #Pruning #Lent

Okay also, Dune isn’t just about Paul being The Villain. Like, as far as Frank Herbert wrote, there was a legitimate point to Paul’s action in unleashing the jihad and becoming a messiah. The answer at the end of the series is that Paul’s Jihaad and the God Emperor’s terrible reign were the Only way for humanity to evolve far enough and grow strong enough as a species to defeat the AI machines that enslaved their ancestors.
The world of the Dune books does technically-as far as Paul and Leto II can be trusted- need a messiah to push and squeeze and prune humanity into a mass that can survive forever.
And what we learn is that to do that, to follow Any messiah figure, The Worst of Atrocities must be committed at unimaginable scale. Billions dead, suffering, relocated, imprisoned, whole peoples slaughtered, and then the whole empire forced into isolated planetoid islands. Thats the cost of a messiah. Is it worth it? Paul started the path and decided it wasn’t. Leto stuck with it and everyone was saved, but he sacrificed everything he had to fulfill the role.
If humanity’s only hope is a messiah, we’re fucked, the cost in human blood will be unimaginable. Any so called messiah would be a devil for leading people through that path. So, it’d be a lot better if everyone figured out how to get by without one instead, because looking for a messiah will lead to ruin.
There’s a separate discussion to be had about Paul and Leto being false messiahs since they lie, or allow their priesthoods to lie, about what the point of all this is. The point is to get on the golden path of species survival, but both allow or encourage the belief in spiritual, ecological, or economic salvation.

The Lunar Calendar
Tumblr media
Using a lunar calendar involves tracking and utilizing the phases of the moon for various purposes. Here's how you can use a lunar calendar:
Understanding the Moon Phases: Familiarize yourself with the eight primary phases of the moon: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, and Waning Crescent.
Setting Intentions and Goals: Each moon phase represents a different energy. New Moon is ideal for setting intentions, while Full Moon is a time for culmination and realization.
Manifestation and Planning: Plan important events, projects, or rituals aligned with the corresponding moon phase. For example, start new projects during the Waxing Crescent for growth or release unwanted habits during the Waning Moon.
Spiritual and Personal Practices: Use specific moon phases for spiritual practices like meditation, reflection, and manifestation. Many people find rituals such as charging crystals or performing moon-related ceremonies more potent during certain phases.
Gardening and Nature-Based Activities: Use the moon phases for gardening by planting seeds during the Waxing Moon for optimal growth and pruning during the Waning Moon.
Emotional Awareness: Pay attention to how the moon phases affect your emotions, energy levels, and sleep patterns. Understanding these patterns can help align activities with your natural rhythms.
Maintaining a Lunar Calendar: Keep track of the moon phases using a lunar calendar. Mark important dates and phases to assist with planning and intention-setting.
Remember, while the lunar calendar can offer guidance, personal experiences and interpretations of the moon's phases vary. Experiment with different practices to see what resonates best with you and brings you closer to your goals.

Goth aesthetic + music playlist series masterpost
For those interested in getting into goth music, I've built 9 playlists total with 15 songs each all surrounding common goth aesthetics so there's a bit of everything that tends to attract people to our subculture. Each playlist title links to its YouTube playlist.
The individual posts with the tracklists detailed are in this tag.
Tumblr media
Trad goth 🦇 aesthetic and music
What started it all, straight out of the 1980s. Punk Rock gone spooky, androgynous, melancholic, experimental and often campy.
Lots of Post-Punk with a dash of Gothic Rock.
Featuring: Xmal Deutschland, Ausgang, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Blood & Roses, The Cure, Specimen, Play Dead, The Birthday Party, Skeletal Family, Sex Gang Children, Cocteau Twins, The Wake (UK), Virgin Prunes, Look Back in Anger.
Tumblr media
Romantic goth 🌹 aesthetic and music
The exquisite agony of melancholy, the theater of grief, the elegance of a frail dying maiden and the intensity and beauty of all emotions.
Mostly Ethereal Wave, Darkwave and Gothic Rock.
Featuring: London After Midnight, Lacrimosa, Sopor Aeternus, Faith and the Muse, The Shroud, Mors Syphilitica, Lycia, Corpus Delicti, Requiem in White, Diva Destruction, Two Witches, Mephisto Walz, Die Laughing, The 69 Eyes, Witching Hour (UK).

Tumblr media
Deathrock 💀 aesthetic and music
Goth's American sibling! If Post-Punk is gloomy and eerie, Deathrock is brooding and spooky. If Gothic Rock is vampires and witches, Deathrock is zombies and werewolves.

Featuring: Chants of Maldoror, Bloody Dead and Sexy, Eat Your Make-Up, Morticia, Bat Nouveau, Phaidia, Cinema Strange, The Naked and the Dead, Requiem in White, Cemetery, 45 Grave, The Cemetary Girlz, Katzenjammer Kabarett, Spiritual Bats, †13th Moon†.
Tumblr media
Kinder goth 🍬 aesthetic and music

Tumblr media
Witchy goth 🎃 aesthetic and music
The figure of the witch has always been of interest to goths; be it due to us having a large neo-pagan population, our fascination with the occult, or simply sympathy for the witch.
A balanced combination of Gothic Rock, Ethereal Wave and Darkwave.

Macabre goth ⚰️ aesthetic and music
Not all goths are obsssed with death... But these ones are! Isn't that the reasonable end to dark romance? The eternity of death, the painlessness of death, the mystery of what's beyond it.
A well balanced mix of Ethereal Wave, Gothic Rock, Darkwave and Deathrock.
Featuring: Sopor Aeternus, Angels of Liberty, A Covenant of Thorns, This Burning Effigy, Paralysed Age, Ghosting, Dead Souls Rising, Soror Dolorosa, Chants of Maldoror, Faith and the Muse, Witching Hour UK, Cinema Strange, Shadow Project, Lestat, Twin Tribes.

Flower Moon - May 5, 2023
Ready your gathering baskets and your best shoes for traipsing, witches - it's time to greet the Flower Moon!
Flower Moon
The Flower Moon gives us the fulfillment of the first flush of the Pink Moon, with fragrant blossoms greeting us at every turn and heralding the merry month of May. The floral name for this particular cycle is shared by a number of indigenous nations, include the Algonquin, Anishnaabe, and Dakota. Other names include Budding Moon and Frog Moon (Cree), Planting Moon (Dakota and Lakota), and the Moon of Mulberry (Choctaw).
European names for this moon include Milk Moon (Anglo-Saxon) and Hare Moon (Celtic, allegedly). Modern pagan circles sometimes call it the Grass Moon as well, since the flourishing of grasslands is more common in some areas than the appearance of flowers.
Notes: This year, there is a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse accompanying the Flower Moon. This is a barely visible shadow on the full moon which will be visible largely in the Eastern Hemisphere. Check your local astronomical forecast to see if it will be visible in your area.
This full moon peaks during daylight hours in the Western Hemisphere (around 1:35pm EDT), so the moon may appear to be full on both the nights of the 4th and 5th. It also falls about three-quarters through a Mercury Retrograde, so take whatever steps you deem appropriate.
What Does It Mean For Witches?
As we pass the spring rites and move toward the summer season, it's the perfect time to celebrate your growth and the ways in which you want to flourish. This is the season for romance and love, and not just that which comes when we put on flower crowns and go a-Maying. This is a time to love ourselves as much as each other, and to be reminded of our own beauty and strength. Remember the things you love about yourself and consciously take a moment to remind your loved ones how much you care for them.
It is also a time to celebrate fertility, be it animal, vegetable, mineral, or spiritual. Put new plans into action, start that project you've been meaning to do, embark on that new hobby or activity you wanted to try. If you have a long-term goal or a big project, now is the time to outline your path to completion and plan how to direct your energy so you don't burn out halfway through. Don't hold back - break through the walls of imposter syndrome and anxiety, indulge in your creative urges, and let your inspiration soar. What you choose to plant and nurture now determines what you will harvest later in the year. And above all, remember to have FUN!
What Witchy Things Can We Do?
If you've been feeling the urge to do some flower-related magic, now is the perfect time! Familiarize yourself with the wildflowers in your area and if possible, maybe grab your basket and scissors and go on a foraging trip. Remember to properly identify flowers before picking them, don't overharvest, and don't take anything from private property without permission or from national parks full stop. You can press the flowers with a notebook and something flat and heavy, or you can dry them in hanging bunches, in a cardboard tray, or in a low-temp oven for later use.
This is also a good opportunity to get your hands in the dirt and connect with the land where you live. If there are plants in your care, take a little time to do some pruning and watering. Check them for spring pests and treat where needed. Give them some love - talk to them, sing to them, encourage them to grow tall and strong and abundant. Bless them as you tend their plots and reaffirm your commitment to be a good caretaker.
As an exercise, try making flower crowns, garlands, bouquets, wreaths, or centerpieces using plant correspondences, flower language, or color magic for a desired effect. This can be done with real flowers or silk ones, depending on how long you want to keep them around. Try your hand at making flower water with roses or other blooms - it makes a wonderful base for moon water!
Experiment with recipes for dishes and drinks that use edible flowers too! Whether it's color-changing butterfly peaflower tea, sweet and peppery nasturtium, adorable pressed pansy shortbread cookies, or the tried-and-true comforts of chamomile, flowers have many tasty secrets to offer. Don't be afraid to add botanicals to your health and beauty routine as well! (Just make sure nothing's going to negatively interact with your meds or irritate a pre-existing condition. Safety first!)
Whether you do so with your near-and-dear, your witchy circle, or by yourself, celebrate everything that blooms - including you!
Happy Flower Moon, witches! 🌕🌼

The God of Stories and the Nowhere Man
A Post-Canon look at the characters if Loki
In the years (weeks? decades? seconds?) after the birth of Yggdrasil, there was no mention of the TVA in any part of history. Such has always been the case. The TVA prides itself on anonymity and secrecy, almost as much as it values bureaucracy.
The same cannot be said of some of the figures involved.
———
Also majorly fuck Disney corporation for funding genocide. Go here to support humanitarian aid for Palestine.
B15 has a seat in the war room, defending Loki’s branches against the coming storm. Incredibly skilled tactician, yet humble enough to seek counsel from others, it isn’t long before she’s the de facto head of their little council. She insists that no one stand on ceremony though.
Casey, for his part, finally decided to look into his past. Reading history pages and conspiracy theories about his sacred timeline self is a little unnerving, but also very cool. In his branch he was Frank Morris, a criminal mastermind and an incredible escape artist. He’s always been a desk worker, but even if he never does any field work, he’s gained the confidence to become a proper analyst, a spiritual successor to Mobius.
O.B is recursive as always, but after finally leaving his basement level room, he came up with some improvements to the TVA headquarters. Their tech is now more reliable, their processes more streamlined and efficient, and the wifi has never been faster. He publishes the second edition of the TVA handbook. Victor Timely works well with him, and also suggests that they make better temporal radiation suits, even if they hopefully won’t have to use them anytime soon.
Most of the hunters still haven’t read the new guide, but Casey finally works up the courage to ask for an autograph. O.B writes his phone number as well. Of course, neither of them actually have phones, O.B was trying to be romantic, but the gesture goes over Casey’s head for a bit. Eventually they figure it out. O.B takes him to a bookstore.
Brad is left to go back to his own version of the timeline, but it’s bittersweet. He can’t forget the faces of the people who were depending on him in that cube. Can’t help thinking that it should’ve been him in there, not Dox. They all still exist somewhere on the timeline, but it’s not the same. They’re not coming back in a way that matters. When he goes back to being an actor he uses as much money as he can on humanitarian aid and charitable donations. It doesn’t erase the screams, but they get quieter.
Ravonna is lost at the end of time, and constantly on the run from various Lokis that she pruned a long time ago. Alioth never hurts her though. Even though she stood before it, choosing death instead of a life constantly on the run, it passed over her like a normal mist. In her heart she knows it’s Loki. She thinks he’s being vindictive by letting her survive. Eventually she’ll learn that he’s being gracious, allowing her the chance to change. She reminds him so much of himself sometimes.
Sylvie works at the McDonald’s, and it doesn’t pay much, but she never cares about it. What she wants she can summon or enchant someone into getting it for her, and what she doesn’t want she just doesn’t bother with, because she doesn’t have to anymore. She doesn’t have to do anything she doesn’t want to do ever again. She smiles. Maybe she’ll go on a date or something. Maybe she’ll go on vacation just for the Hel of it. There’s something so beautifully divine in being a creature of habit, a goddess of chaos finally settled, like a puzzle piece rattling into place. Privately, she calls herself the goddess of freedom.
All of them find their places, and make names for themselves, but their stories do not reach far, by intention. They are little things, twining with the rest of the branches.
There are two that find themselves in many branches; The God of Stories, and the Nowhere Man.
The god of stories is an ornate title, and a little dramatic. It’s accurate though. He weaves the lives of many into new branches, shifting with each misplaced footprint. The sheer multitude of the branches is their protection; The Conqueror won’t find them if he doesn’t know where to look.
This weaving has consequences though. One of the branches Loki touches is near the genesis of his own people. Heimdall is there, and he sees the tree, and its branches, and all the nine realms. It bothers him that he cannot see into the center, but alas, some things are beyond even his sight. He knows someone is there, though, and the legend grows in Asgard of the one who sits in the world tree, spinning the threads of fate into stories. Over time, the legend turns into the three frost giantesses known as the Norns.
And he is not idle in his throne either. At length he discovers that he can leave his seat at the center of the tree, but it’s dangerous to do so. His power is tied to the tree, and without him it begins to wilt again. It’s a while before he can leave it for more than a few seconds.
He manages though, and even while separated from the tree he can reach into the fabric of the branches he travels, unwinding them and twisting them as he sees fit. Legends arise around New Asgard that the brother of Thor has returned, with an unknown power in his hands. SWORD looks into it, but they find nothing out of the ordinary. Darcy looks into it and finally meets Thor’s brother. She slaps him, like Jane Foster once did, but she grows to like him eventually. They bond over a shared love of snakes.
And he doesn’t always appear as…himself. Sometimes the god of stories is herself, or theirself. They’ve appeared as a snake, a wolf, and once as a horse, but that story doesn’t need to be elaborated on. The snake is most common though, and some begin to call him Jormungandr. The world serpent.
Eventually Steven Strange takes an interest in whoever has been crawling through the multiverse. Loki drops him in a perpetual fall for an hour, and Strange decides it’s none of his damn business.
Legends of these types have echoing similarities. Solitude is their main theme, occasionally countered by the figure of the nowhere man.
Some stories say he’s the only one who dares to stand against the god of stories. His fate is his own after all, because he exists in no time at all. No story to twist, no time to pause, a Mobius, with no end and no beginning. Once they learn of him, they decide that he must surely be the greatest adversary of Jormungandr. Loki, for his part, finds it absolutely hilarious.
Other types of stories do crop up, though. The nowhere man walks among the people, and can erase your fate with a mere touch. Relentlessly the Norns pursue him. Some say it’s because the god of stories wishes to have his fate pulled away from him, like stars into the void. Some say it’s because Jormungandr craves total authority, and only when he consumes the nowhere man will he be sated. Some even say that they’re partners, companions, a yin and yang of sorts. They say that without one, the other would fall to ruin. This version of the tale emerged after too many instances of someone threatening Mobius where Loki could hear them (and if they’re on one of his branches he can always hear them loud and clear).
The Nowhere Man is a being of pure chaos. The God of Stories is order incarnate. The two of them cackle about the reversal of their roles, as they walk the branches of Yggdrasil. They laugh together often these days, and these days are now all the days, for all time. Always.

How do you deal with art block? . Or those moments where you just aren't happy with your art and your just in that werid art funk.
If you have experienced either x3
I don't really see artblocks as "blocks", rather I just call it what the root cause is; "I'm uninspired", "I'm burnt out", "I have no motivation", etc. Because then I know how to deal with it better.
If I'm uninspired I actively go out and seek media; go to festivals, watch movies, etc.
If I'm burnt out I put on a wrist brace and rest until I'm not tired anymore.
If I'm unmotivated I may have neglected my health or needs in some way.
Then also, you gotta remember that drawing is my special interest and does something to me on a neuropsychological level that it doesn't do for many others, and is a tool I actively use to regulate myself, and not just for fun (even if that's the main motivator). If I don't draw I kind of spiritually shrivel up like a prune, so the act of drawing itself is just something that's part of me.
But even so, I'm still just a person who can't always perform at 100%, so I don't beat myself up for not being able to do it all the time. Sure it's frustrating but getting all worked up doesn't exactly help and it's not like I'll die like actually. I just feel poopy for a bit and then I can draw again and I'll forget all about it :p

Bastian just learned what his wife’s religion actually is.
It was either in session 1 or 2 that he heard the words “the Antelucan Heresy” in connection with her, and she’s always just been like “don’t worry about it, baby” about it, because she loves secrets, and because Bastian needs to figure things out for himself or else he’ll hurl what he learns across the room like a fussy baby with a bowl of corn he doesn’t like. (It’s very easy to play a character with near-total omniscience about the plot of the game, who knows everything and shares next to nothing, against a PC who’s perpetually going “GIVE ME THE WHEEL CUNTS I’M DRIVING TOOT TOOT HERE I COME.”) Bellefleur is a patient gardener of her husband’s spiritual development, mostly listening, rarely prompting, and only coming in with a delicate pair of pruning scissors when absolutely necessary.
And he always thought it was weird that his wife appeared to ‘worship the devil,’ because she doesn’t come off like a woman who would ever worship someone. She might worship an idea: she could worship a composition of symmetry in the universe which she found compelling and necessary. But like. a guy? Like even if that guy is the genius of the great outer darkness, the Devil Himself, Bastian’s father, he who slew the Sun in Glory with a single word, that just doesn’t sound like his wife.
And, of course, he’s right. To subscribe to the Antelucan heresy is not to worship the devil. It is to believe that God was wrong to separate light from dark at the beginning of time: and that the Emperor-Wolf was right to rebuke the sun for its crime. Bellefleur does not want Satan, ascendant, although she certainly doesn’t mind if that happens along the way, and will even labor in that direction if it brings her closer to her own goals. She wants to unwind the Divisions that have shattered the histories into a more and more fragmented state, and demolish the distinctions between human and faerie, living and dead, light and dark, demon and angel, mortal and supernal.
Bellefleur believes there is a perfect totality that existed before the Glory breathed: but no one but the Glory existed to see it, and the first act the Glory took (let there be light) destroyed it. She believes that unwinding the Divisions, and reuniting dark and light, will create a new history: one in which everyone will see that totality.

What if we turned the pruning/harvesting/reduction of invasive of overpopulated species into a spiritual experience?
Lionfish spines can be a correspondence for water and fire. Deer antlers are representative of the wilderness. Kudzu can be woven into baskets. Scotch broom already has some significance. Creeping buttercup is actually awful and toxic and imma dry some and use it in curses.
Why do people put so much significance in things that are endangered or threatened?
