Terrible fun fact I realized about Loki from the latest episode.

He stole John's retcon powers.

Like you tell me this isn't the same shit.

Only difference is that outside of a few instances, he rarely, if ever, interacts with other instances of himself. He learns to use his power in a desperate moment where things are grim. John does when he's about to die drowning in oil, loki when everyone around him has died already.

You can argue it's a coincidence, but both cases, retcon comes from an object that has been usually associated with time powers/travel of some sort.
