heyyyy do you have any details/sources for the ca*ill being a jackass thing? ngl i watch twn for yen and jaskier so i was already planning on continuing to season 4 but i'd love some reasons to be actively excited for the actor switch. but i haven't kept up on the behind-the-scenes stuff so i'm kinda lost on that front if you're up for sharing any of what you know!
okay guys buckle up this is THE anti henry cavill megathread xoxo
First of all him dating a teenager as a 33 year old fully grown man literally gross and disgusting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also as this quote implies they started dating a year prior and only went public when she was 19 so they supposedly started dating when she was 18.
Tumblr media
His entire dating history is a MESS. Sure the women he dated are not him, but he chose to date them, I wouldn't even associate myself with people like these let alone be in a relationship with them. He dated the infamous transphobic TERF Gina Carano, albeit before her loud controversy, but I doubt her harmful views were any different back then. His current gf has a history of doing black face.
Tumblr media
His "Me Too" comments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His comments on the Me Too movement are literally so vile. If you don’t want to be called a rapist, just don’t rape women, it’s literally as simple as that. They’re even more foul because they’re promoting the idea that women lie about their abusive for fame, promoting that harmful rhetoric especially in our times is incredibly dangerous.
Now onto his on set behavior.
We can't talk about his set behavior without mentioning the deuxmoi set leak. Here's the transcript of it:
[Transcript:
There’s something I really really wanted to read to you guys--it has to do with why Henry Cavill left The Witcher. I know that was something that you guys were super interested in when it happened, and I just recently got this message. Somebody was like “Hey, do you want to know what really went down?” And I was like “Sure!” So let me just read it. It says:
“At the beginning of the show, Henry was good to work with. A lot of difficult demands that made people feel like he wasn’t a team player, but that’s not unusual for a really big star. Though in TV it truly usually doesn’t happen until the second season. But in season two and three something shifted and he became really impossible for women to work with, which is always a big problem, but even worse here because the showrunner is a woman. He would try to overrule her and try to get changes made last minute across the board without her knowledge, which, if you know anything about showrunning, is completely fucked. The showrunner has to sign off on every miniscule detail down to the buttons on a costume. Female writers and directors were suddenly being completely ignored on set, unable to do their jobs. Every department head was complaining. He started making comments—it wasn’t a sexual thing, he wasn’t grabbing anyone or being lewd, but it was disrespectful and toxic all the same.
“He is deeply addicted to video games, to the point where it was like working with any other addict. He was distracted, he was late, he was obsessive, and a lot of people think the misogyny came from gamer world. Video game bro language is not how you talk to coworkers, and he wouldn’t stop. Someone on the show compared it to watching someone get brainwashed by QAnon, like his whole personality shifted. Eventually his disrespect escalated. He would rewrite scenes without even alerting the other actors in the scenes until it was time to shoot. He decided that he didn’t want any romantic scenes at all—no kissing scenes, no shirtless scenes, et cetera. He wanted complete control of storylines but really had no idea of the limitations of TV, structure, budget, et cetera. He formed a weird alliance with one writer who was also a gamer, who eventually got fired after multiple HR complaints were made and after that writer left, Henry did anything he could to hold up production and cause problems.
“Eventually top brass at Netflix was tired of him costing them money with delays and HR investigations and the showrunner was asked to construct a potential exit for him. Netflix reached out to him personally and he was given one final warning, and violated that warning with an email he sent to the entire writing staff right after that meeting. That was it. It’s very disappointing.”
End transcript.]
Now believe me or not, but I know from a really good source that the leak was indeed real.
There's a lot of patterned behavior that tracks with what we know of him and his past controversies.
After that leak came out, there was a lot of people from different places coming to comment that ‘yes’ they’ve heard a very similar story adding a little bit more details of their own.

this quickly deleted tweet from one of the writers/producers:
Tumblr media
there were rumors about him being an asshole to Anya specifically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He went on record that he doesn't "understand" sex scenes. Which I know the sex discourse is rampant nowadays and each to their own, but he specifically signed up for a role that requires those scenes and then refused to do them and was allegedly nasty to Anya about it and with the way he talks about women...
Tumblr media
Also it’s important to touch upon the “writer he had a weird alliance with” that man in question is Beau DeMayo of the recent fame of getting fired by Marvel from X-Men ‘97. He was previously allegedly fired from The Witcher for being emotionally and physically abusive. And he allegedly got fired from X-Men for being abusive as well. One of The Witcher writers tweeted this after Beau smeared them for “disliking the books” Beau was literally the first person to start that narrative.
Tumblr media
The fact that it was HIS idea not to say lines of his dialogue in S1 and instead grunt. To the point that Joey had to take Henry’s lines and make it his own, so the plot would make sense, he talks about it in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=Oyh0t117t0U&, and then once S2 press arrived Henry was talking about how he was trying to fight the big bad writers to give him more lines. Ridiculous.
Everyone is already pointing out that the cast looks so much happier without him, and it’s very true. Henry was never present on close to any BTS pics from filming the previous seasons, or on any cast dinners or birthdays. He wouldn't even do any shared interviews with the other three mains but only had solo interviews which to me was giving disrespectful like you're an ensemble you’re not the only lead here. It felt like he was above them to sit down and answer questions with them. When they were doing press junkets in Brazil and Poland Anya, Joey and Freya would always arrive together and leave together with that man leaving all the events early and by himself. And like people who post quotes from the cast about him being perfect from press junkets as “proof” are insane to me like Obviously they’re going to say nice things about him, not only they're newcomers, and he's an established industry name, but they’re doing PRESS for a show that he’s a STAR of (well, was lmao)
The fact that he never defended Anya from the racist trolls, even though most of them were HIS fans. Like she had to go through so much and that man couldn’t make a single comment about it as a leading man BUT he could make a whole IG post because people were being mean to his gf and calling her out for doing blackface.
And sure people might say that a lot of these are unverified sources, and I’d get it if it was a singular case, but there are a ton of these accounts that all match each other. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Hai, I wanted to air out some HH feelings and thought this was the best place to do so. I never watched the original pilot. After the first trailer dropped I figured that the show wasn't gonna be for me, it just wasn't my comedy style. But I did watch Addict when it dropped.
I thought it was really cool that a fan song got an officially animated mv! And I thought that it did a really good job at being subtle with Angel's SA...until the end. They added a whole new verse to the song to, from how I saw it, put in a flash back to an SA scene. I don't know why people don't bring that up more with Addict. A whole new verse to do that scene. Especially since it's supposed to be the hopeful/uplifting send-off after the credits.
But then when Michael was let go I went to the replies on his tweet. I stopped looking through them after I saw 3 different people post a gif of the SA shot in Addict under their well wishes. Just...why would you put something like that under your "We'll miss you! We loved your performance! Good luck" message to a VA? Why include the worst act against that character to your VA send-off?
That was when I really knew that Angel wasn't going to be handled well. Not just because of the needless scene inclusion at the end of Addict, but because of how the fans were treating it.
I wish I could say that I didn't see Poison coming. I wish I could say that I thought they would wait longer than episode 4 to show it. But honestly, I expected that shit to drop in episode 2. I expected there to be reoccurring scenes for the whole first season.
When Addict just *had* to shove that scene in at the end and the video got so popular I knew they would go bigger with more budget. I wanted to think I was just doomstorming (brainstorming while filled with dread), but the fact that they had done such a great job with the subtlety and threw it all away at the end for shock value sat wrong with me. I honestly don't know why nobody brings up that ending scene of Addict.
And I wanted to have hope! Addict had shown Angel dolling himself up to wreck havoc with Cherri and I thought that would be something! That he would have wrecking shit be a kind of escapism or therapy and he'd be trigger happy or explosive happy, or that Cherri would just...be there for him at all! But she's gone from what I've heard, and now we have Poison.
It makes me feel like a loser, baby.
Speaking as someone who loved Addict, hell, who remembers Addict as their gateway drug into Hazbin? These are all extremely valid points! Also, that thing with Michael is vile, this fandom's got zero sense of how to behave then or now and he really did dodge a bullet.
Me, I never minded the ending to Addict so much because, while we do see that shot of Valentino raping Angel, it amounts to a split second. More importantly, the video ends with Angel daring to believe that things might be better at the hotel, and then Nuggets kisses him and he smiles and it's a happy, hopeful note.
One thing we can agree on, I think, is that Poison makes Addict look like high cinema. It's all of the worst things about Addict and absolutely none of the good.

Hello there!!
The characters ask game: Number 25 and 23 for Agent Kallud, my beloved One ♡
PD: I love your works <333
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
I had to really think deep on this one.
The first time watching Rebels, I didn’t take much note of ole Kallus. He didn’t feel all that threatening, just a bad-guy-of-the-week. Like, Star Wars villains tend to have a certain presence—unnerving, sinister, vile (ones like Tarkin, Maul, and the Grand Inquisitor embody that)—but he didn’t inspire much revulsion or hatred. I didn’t think he was a weak antagonist (especially not when he kept going on about leading the Lasan massacre and we had no reason not to believe him), but every time the Ghost crew came up against him, I just knew they were gonna send him limping home and grumbling, shaking his fist and vowing to get them next time.
But then.
Oh man.
Still to this day, I don’t know if his redemption was planned from the beginning or something pulled together behind the scenes in between seasons 2 and 3. I honestly cannot tell. Because watching it through and going back to the beginning, it so looks like he could go either way (he puts on a lot of bluster but there’s moments where we see he’s genuinely shocked at the Empire’s tactics, all the way back in the first season, but he believes in it and he has taken part in some truly heinous things).
I was pretty neutral about him until season 3 when he started taking the role of Fulcrum (and he took it far). By Zero Hour, he was cemented as a favourite (and I was so worried they were gonna dispatch him, go with that lame old redemption-through-sacrifice trope which I’m so glad they didn’t, I’m glad they let him join the Rebels and get the chance to work for his atonement).
And I have to say I am endlessly amazed at how he kept his cool especially around Thrawn. He deserves a medal for that kind of courage.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
Ooh, I don’t have it on hand, but I’d have to say my favourite picture would be a still of that scene when Ezra Force-flings Kallus into the glass panel (to make it look like they were fighting). The very split second when Kallus is just a surprised starfish in the air cracks me up every time.

Fave things from the finale bc it was a lil rushed but i enjoyed it a lot!!!
- hen sneaking in late had me DYING. Top 5 scenes of the entire show it was so funny how she sat with her hands between her legs when she was caught LMAOO
- and all of bobby’s kids just being distracted af with Bobby desperately trying to get out like 2 words without being interrupted or ignored sjdjdjdjd
- maddie and Athena!!! Omg both took a moment when they heard about the emergencies and then immediately jumped into action they are so badass!!!
- buck!! BUCK!!!! He is usually very sensitive and irrational when emergencies to those he loves are happening but the moment literally everyone important in his life (except for maddie and the show’s kids) went down and he IMMEDIATELY jumped to action!! He acted like the captain!!! Like it was Hen but he was giving all the instructions on what to do and personally went to rescue each single member himself!!!! The season started with him being told he couldn’t be captain yet. And i 100000% agreed when it happened because others simply have more experience but this!!!! This?????? He BODIED being the captain here. Like maddie and athena he didn’t allow himself to break down. Even when it came about bobby being mia!!!! BOBBY HIS FATHER!!!
- the moment athena said she found bobby all jumped into action oh my god. Eddie could barely walked and rushed there. Hen was seeing doubles and rushed there. Chim was bleeding from being pretty much impaled and still tried to get out of the gurney to try to go help the second he heard bobby’s name!!! Buck pretty much lead the operation to get bobby out!!!!!
- something amazing about the fact that the kid risked it all to help others. I thought from spoilers he was gonna KNOW it was bobby and the 118 that had rescued him and thats why he was gonna help. But he didn’t until the end!!!! He did it because he wanted to!!! And when both him and bobby realized it they didn’t have to say anything!!! Just understood!!!! With the name of the ep being pay it forward that was so touching!! Bobby and the 118 risked dying to save that kid once. And he risked dying to help others and try to help bobby not even knowing who he was!!!! Makes me believe in humanity again for real (which side note but i was reading about comfort women earlier, which ik historically a lot about them already but i was reading a thread about a book full of anecdotes of survivors and those who didn’t and my god i needed to be reminded humanity is not just full of completely vile and evil people).
- Chim’s dopey smile holding maddie’s hand is everything. Wonder if that was a love thing or an acting choice to be dopey bc he was on morphine LMAOO. Still the cutest ever.
- buck has a little too much chemistry with kameron IM SORRY SHFHDHDH. Obviously i dont want them together and is absolutely not gonna happen but like…. The actors had a spark for a sec there. More than i felt with natalia at least LMAOOO. Which, i just learned in the past oliver once lost a role (or the audition didn’t go as planned) because he had done a chemistry test with natalia’s actress and failed it. They need to start doing chemistry tests with buck’s love interests especially if they wanna sell it that he has no feelings for eddie LMAOO. Eddie and marisol had chemistry for example like they need to do better by buck.
- WHICH ALSO, BUCK WAS ALSO A BOSS DELIVERING THE BABY?????? HE WA JUST SUCH A BOSS THIS EP??? Never freaked out just constantly jumping straight to action!!! What a growth!!!!! And like not just jumping to action but like fast thinking of a plan rather than just acting on pure impulse!! WHICH IS THE BIGGEST GROWTH??? Also side note but every time evan buckely is near a women giving birth that birth happens FAST lmao. Most labors i feel like they take hours but every time buck is involved that baby comes out in like 2 minutes after the water breaks jdjdjd. Which is funny considering all elder people who talk to him die LMAOOO. Angel of life and death fr fr.
- natalia and buck have like 0 chemistry HOWEVER that woman is so pretty got me kicking my feet fr LMAO. And this doesn’t deserve to be praised at all bc it should be as normalized as its on the show but i love that she’s poc and mid size/plus size (i dont think she is plus size but def not on the skinnier size). As a brown person and plus size myself idk i liked seeing her as a love interest just as much as the skinny white girls on the show. Is genuinely not a big deal but i have been rejected for not being skinny and white like the last 2 times i tried starting something so seeing natalia pulling buck with min effort like that made me happy djfjfjfj. Still don’t want them as endgame tho lmao terrible chemistry.
- saw the way buck looked at that baby too!!!!! Love the quick acknowledgment of having a sec realizing genetically thats a part of him that became a new life, but not letting it be a huge deal bc he KNOWS its not his kid.
- fucking love they are meditating now lmao.
- YES HEN S7 NEW BABY STORYLINEEE!!!
- marisol and eddie are cute. But where tf is carla its been a while i miss her. Sad she wasn’t in this finale.
- chim and maddie could just marry at bobby’s place is bigger lmao.
- love christopher encouraging his dad to date. Again i dont really want marisol and eddie, but she has good chemistry with him!!!
- wished we had seen some buck and Christopher for finale tho :((((( no finale should happen without christopher and buck having a moment. Like i wish buck had been playing vid games there when eddie called marisol and the “how is he so bad at this” christopher said was talking to buck.
- natalia has my body type for real im sorry it does make me happy dhfjfjh. Hope he doesn’t find a good couch with her tho. S7 can rescue the couch theory!!!!!!!
- S7 BETTER HAVE SOME PICS AND CUTE STORIES OF BOBBY AND ATHENA’S MORE THAN WELL DESERVED TRIP!!!! YES!!!

Looking over your acc, you seem to be the resident expert on cs, esp chase and julia- but im curious. What's your opinion on the faculty?
There's this one scene in season four I'd like to call attention to: where brunt falls into a freezing river after fighting shadowsan, leaving maelstrom to grab the second last vile relic/map piece, and then a maelstrom is being driven back to hq, brunt shows up, holding onto life white knuckled- and in the car she says something like
'you weren't.. going to leave me... where you?'
And maelstrom dodges the question- idk much about character dynamics and basic writing but like, imo this is a fanastastic show of how each character veiws their comradere. So like, what's your perception of that scene specifically if you don't mind sharing? (I'm usually the standard Brunt Disliker but this specific scene and line mad me admittedly feel for her)
I have no real special place in my heart for the faculty. They are super super fun don't get me wrong, I think just comes down to that the only one who received any kind of development was Shadowsan, someone who we saw was barely in VILE faculty during the show run. And that kind of nerfs them for me, especially since they only just went into how truly evil they can be. But if I was to comment on any of them, it would definitely be the contrast and actual clear beef between Brunt and Maelstrom in general on the show. And how much they were at each other's throats. Tension you could cut with a knife.
Especially in that scene too. I feel like Maelstrom only keeps those around him who are useful and or easily reprogrammable. And I definitely think he dosent value Brunt, or most likely views her as an actual threat to his views, and hierarchy. People respect her by proxy, just with her presence alone. She is the most influential person within the faculty, especially in the majority of VILES members imo. Making, at the very least, meaningfully connects with her subordinates, where he has to physically alter those to make them unwaveringly loyal. Set a precedent of true fear to what he will do among those below him, which takes a lot of resources and time to do. Aleast that's what he typically likes to do, Paper Star is his literal prodigy and I like to think that he hasn't had to do a thing for her to be that, pathological.
Also I definitely think that there was no way he would be able to go back to the rest of the faculty without Brunt. Absolutely no way at all, and he knew that, she as well.
I also get a hint that Brunt genuinely, views the faculty like a real family. Unlike Maelstrom. I feel like she deep down, knows that he doesn't feel the same about them. Maelstrom threatened physical and mental harm to his 'friend', Nigel Braithwaite. Keeping the guy in a cage. Literally in a dungeon just because.
And with Shadowsan 'turning' to the Red side, who wasn't openly caring to Carmen, unlike Brunt. Maelstrom would definitely be permanently wary of her. Even have a full plan to take her out if need be.
I truly, hand on my heart, LOVE how the moment he knew that VILE was truly over, he fking dipped. Just, dusted his hands off and said 'time to leave this sinking ship' as if he hadn't spent the last 30+ years with them. Absolutely savage, and heartless. True to his character. Where in contrast, Brunt was willing to fight right up until the end. Very interesting characters for sure.

also what would be the song titles of the other songs on the album 🤨 i am very curious abt make believe celebrity world
other than galatea, we know of two other songs in the text, circe circus and sunburnt. the first one is apparently an overly grand love song, and sunburnt a summer-y thing. those two titles were chosen specifically because of what i assume are the general Themes of the album, or at least the song titles, ie. greek myth-inspired and galatea, take one text-inspired.
circe circus is mostly because i liked the alliteration, but also because i think it could be a very tongue-in-cheek song about the artifices and masquerade of love (which i think is why matty would see it as this mockery of love songs instead of genuineness). circus is generally considered a grand farce, and circe is an enchantress who would seduce men and then turn them into pigs.
i picked sunburnt because of how, in the ice cream scene, she covers her blush and therefore her growing attraction/feelings with the lie that she must be getting sunburnt. i assume that would have been the subject of the song, though she also describes her fans as sunburnt, so maybe it’s an ode to them instead.
following those two ideas, i can absolutely see her covering the myth of medea (my fav greek myth Yay). if you’re not familiar, medea marries jason and commits several war crimes and vile, insurmontable acts for him, and then he abandons her and their children for a princess. scorned and betrayed and Unhinged, she ends up killing the princess, the king, and then her children (with regrets<3). anyway i think it would absolutely be a piece she delves into when she realizes that matty is Not gonna leave delilah for her, and she starts relating to the betrayal and pain of medea. definitely a female rage anthem.
(side note pls read medea by euripide it’s such a good play and it talks with so much empathy and understanding about objectively a Bad woman and a Bad mother in ways that had not been done before, especially not in ancient greece. the phrase ‘what other creatures are bred so exquisitely and purposefully for mistreatment as women are?’ makes me go feral the whole monologue is insane and you’re telling me ancient greek man WROTE THIS?? what 20 years old teenage girl possessed him wtf)
i could also see a song touching on beauty with a title about aphrodite. she does say that her ex-boyfriend didn’t, from her understanding, find her beautiful, but instead raw and unfinished and he aimed to complete her. i think that must fuck with her vision of her and her beauty, and she would write a song unpacking it. or maybe talking about the running youth and beauty and if she is not pretty and young, if she cannot be a muse anymore, what will she be. once again touching on her qualms about musedom.
the second category is, again, words or sentences from prose /i/ would pick from the writing to represent her own emotions. i guess it’s quite meta lol, though i assume if i wrote it she could have thought it. there probably would have been something called too sweet about her just being too nice for her own good, which would be a very biased and unreliable song (she is, once again, deceiving and hurting a very kind woman. not too sweet not to fuck her man!).
i think something about coffee too since it’s a running theme to represent the failings of love (meeting her ex in a coffee shop, the espresso martini matty makes her tasting like a ‘mature café day in new york, but coffee just the same’, kissing him and she’s glad it doesn’t taste like coffee, etc etc). uncertainty and doomed fate and patterns and Loss of love would be its subject.
there is, on top of that, an unnamed break up song about her ex. i think that one would go more in the second category, maybe something like watercolors since she quite literally says ‘fuck watercolors’ about her ex and his treatment of her.
i did not know i had this much to say on the subject wow. this was so fun to think about Thank you!

*Tips hat down* good morning/evening/ goodnight Esther!! Hope ur doing awesome. I have a quick question. You see I’m wondering what tips you can give me on writing confrontation? I have this character in my book whose father is very secretive, for a good reason, but still loves his daughter to bits but she doesn’t fully realize why he does what he does. There relationship is strained. Her love interest gets along with the father, as her own father is a bit estranged. Her love interest, not at the time, notices and calls the main character out and basically just says “why can’t you give your father a chance. He loves you” to which main character gets defense and snaps back with a really hard hitting sort of on purpose response that sort of ends up being there first fight. It hits her love interest hard because it’s such a vile and beyond rude to say but it’s so true that she can’t respond to it. What do you think writing conflict especially when emotions are involved helps the writing feel natural?
Hello sweetheart, I'm sorry I took a while to answer this one.
Conflict is not an easy thing to write about, at least I find myself taking longer than usual with scenes that involve conflict. One thing that you need to have in mind when writing it, is how you want the pace to be.
For example; if you want a screaming match, something heated and full of anger, you'll find that writing quicker sentences without much needless elaboration will be best. Quicker sentences are easier to digest and will automatically give your scene that erratic feeling.
Now, if you want something emotional, heavy; you'll want to dive deep into what the characters are feeling. Try to show just how much is at stake, how their feelings for each other could be tainted if this conflict goes wrong.
Let's take an example from my Sweet Calamity series;
Wednesday harshly turned your wrist so your palm was up. She raised your sleeve, and time stood still for a second.
There, right on the pulse point of your wrist, laid a faint mark, just a few shades darker than your skin tone. If you looked closely, or in this case, not that closely, you could say its shape resembled a scorpion.
Wednesday didn't let go of you, but she averted her gaze. Her lips parted with ragged breaths, the lower one trembling against her will.
You could feel fresh tears making their way down your cheeks and dripping from your chin, Wednesday only looked back at you when one of them landed on her thumb.
"You knew," she growled quietly. With her free hand, she raised her own sleeve to show a mark identical to yours, "you knew and you didn't tell me." She raised her voice then, her midnight eyes boring into yours and making you flinch.
For a while, you thought you knew pain, but nothing could compare to this. "I thought I'd spare you from the inconvenience." With that, you forcefully pulled your arm away from her hold as if she burned you.
Here we have a confrontation that is loaded with feelings, with history; it's a breaking point in the story and you can feel it just by the emotions that the characters show. Here the sentences are longer, with a deeper insight on what each of them is thinking, and with good reason, because it's melancholic, and not erratic. I believe that would be the kind of conflict you're after. So just keep in mind to work with what you already have in your story, the relationships you build and how that conflict can change them. Make your characters feel that risk.
Hope I could help, I'm always here to talk. <3

Your anons are something else tonight 😆 please feel free to ignore this buy I have to rant for a second. What I haven’t seen brought up is Harry DID have years of friendship with ZACH. Maybe not super close but they did know each other and Zach has been extremely complimentary of him in the past. Your anon really wants to believe Harry went behind a friend’s back to break up their well-known, serious relationship instead of what was obviously presented: Olivia threw Florence under the bus with Shia and made the movie all about her and that shit show of a stunt to sell tickets and elevate her celebrity status (harry’s reasons are his own but I think it’s safe to say he more than regretted it by the end). Florence clearly wasn’t on board and I’m sure negotiated to distance herself as much as professionally and personally possible because the whole thing was a dumpster fire from the get go. Zach and Florence lost a friend to Covid, this was well documented. Meanwhile Olivia waves off Covid protocols by hopping in a clown car with Harry and Co. to smile for the paps and debut their “relationship” in middle of filming their god awful movie. I’m putting more pressure on Olivia here because she was the Director (though I still have issues with Harry and Jeff for doing that shit, it was so beyond disappointing and disrespectful). Still, it was Olivia’s production and she basically threw up a middle finger to her whole cast and crew doing that. Florence is a better person than me, I’m sure she was beyond disgusted by their behavior. It had nothing to do with a fake kiss Olivia probably fed to the tabloids. Let’s be real, she wanted to look desirable and like Harry “chose” her over the younger starlet that SHOULD have been the focus of promo. What better way than to create MORE fake drama by creating a non-existent love triangle especially when she probably knew Florence wouldn’t correct it because she had already distanced herself. On top of that, OLIVIA wouldn’t shut her fucking mouth about the movie being all about sex and encouraging the talk about Harry going down on Florence in one pathetic scene she made sure to put in every trailer. Florence, in one of her ONLY interviews about the film, said she was disappointed that this was the focus of marketing. But Olivia kept on and on saying bs like “only women come in this film.” It was all grossly manufactured, I can’t believe these anons bought into that bs. Apologies for all this abut the whole thing still irritates me to no end because it was so vile. I can’t believe people are trying to reduce it to Daily Mail headlines that were created, no doubt, courtesy of Olivia.
Every now and then it happens lmao but honestly though. I agree with what you said. And yeah I can't believe this is still a conversation. I was flabbergasted last night lmao

i think what annoys me the most is the fact that the writers are saying that the show is the canon version of what happened and i keep thinking what the fuck? 😭 of course it's convenient for them to say their show is canon because not only they're pro daisybilly (that certainly wasn't made obvious lmao) but i feel like they think they wrote this amazing show and don't get me wrong, the show isn't bad but it isn't great either. especially because everything feels pretty superficial and they OBVIOUSLY made the time jump of only 20 years so daisy and billy could be seen as these tragic lovers who had to wait for the guy's wife to die before getting together. wow so romantic!!!!! i can't even take them seriously it's so pathetic 🤨
i don't want to sound like a book purist but the show events are not canon in the book!!! i remember seeing an interview with the showrunners before the show aired and they said "in the series we'll show the truth" and i was like, no, you won't. because the beautiful thing about the book is that there's no way to know the truth, you got trust them or fill the gaps with your interpretations. the showrunners did that too, what we see is their interpretations, and wishes, of the things that happened on the story. and the show changed enough things that makes impossible to apply what happens in the series to what happens in the book.
istg hate to be the person who complains about the adaptation not getting things right, but i do feel like everything is more superficial. for billy we saw during the whole book how he struggled with his addiction, in the show is more like "he went to the rehab and everything is 100% ok now", as for daisy, it feels more like "she's so crazy i love her", than a woman who also had a problem with drinking and drugs.
one of my biggest problems with the show (besides what they did to camila, but here i'm very biased here bc she's my fav) is how fast paced the scenes are. we get something that is supposed to be emotional or a big thing for the story, but it's 10 seconds long and when you start to feel something, it ends, and you're like that's it???? and then you got to move on to the next thing.
them [redacted] [redacted] 20 years before is definitely the most vile thing they did. and all because they wanted to use the main cast in the interviews.

If this is out of line, please feel free to delete this ask :) I follow your Twitter and I read your Cam/Pal ☕️ post here, but now that Nona's been out for a whopping 48 hours, I was wondering how you're feeling about the fandom and the story about Cam and Pal and Paul [screams]
(First of all, I'm very sorry for this delayed reply - it started off as "Well, I want to make sure my self-imposed spoiler period is over" and then continued into "well I don't want to Step In It, fandom-wise." But I have thoughts and you asked, and I appreciate that :3).
The following content was written in mid-September and has been edited slightly for length and clarity. It's still long. Sorry lmao.
Nona the Ninth was, to (probably) the shock of no one who knows me, a gift to me specifically. I joke that this book was written for me because it has so many things I love: apocalyptic settings, examinations of all the hazards and casualties of love, and some EXPLANATIONS OF WHAT THE HELL JOHN DID.
There was also Cam/Pal. So much Cam/Pal. "I hope you know that I adore you, Scholar." SHUT THE FUCK UP?????? HELLO??????????? "LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND LOVE IS TOO LONG" OKAY GOODBYE
Now, I should also say that I've had a Nona ARC since the summer, so I've been sitting on this for a hot minute. My experience reading the book was equal parts "WOW I AM WINNING" and "wow the fandom is going to go nuclear." And while I haven't seen as much hate as I was expecting, I suspect some of that is because I got over my fear of blocking people and have blocked often and liberally if the situation calls for it.
To be clear, I never have an issue with people shipping things that I don't ship. I never have a problem with people actively disliking my ships. What I do have a problem with is people coming into my DMs, notes, askbox, etc., and calling me names, attacking me, and generally being vile in mine own house when they could just as easily scroll away.
That's what happened around Cam/Pal between HtN and NtN. I'm not going to dredge up the details for the sanity of myself and my friends, but it was real and it was bad. Real people were deeply hurt. I've been in fandom - including some really nuclear ones - for more than half my life, and it has never been this bad.
At this point, my stance is this: Nona the Ninth made a near-ironclad case for Cam/Pal being canonically romantically entwined. Nona the Ninth also established that the two of them have been in love for a long time. The scene where they became Paul is, in my opinion, akin to a marriage proposal - especially when you weave in the fact that the "three strands" verse Dulcie quotes about them in Harrow the Ninth is often quoted in weddings and also talks about two people being better than one, etc etc.
My stance is also: if you read them as platonic but vibe just fine with people who don't read it that way, and you filter your internet experience through tagging, blocking, and scrolling past what you don't vibe with - more power to you. You're doing great, and I have no quarrel with you at all.
If you, however, choose to make sweeping faux-pearl-clutching statements about the creeps who ship cousins, you can get the fuck out of my house. Block me, unfollow me, whatever, but this is not the place for you.
Because also, nine times of ten, it's not about the fact that they're SECOND cousins (which is vastly different from cousins). It's about people disliking that a female character is with a male character. The Venn diagram of people I've seen being loudly angry and faux-pearl-clutching about Cam/Pal as a romantic ship and the people who insist Camilla is something that isn't bi and say that anyone headcannoning her as bi is something-phobic is almost a circle.
Again. You don't have to think Cam is bi or ship Cam/Pal. But there is no reason you need to rain on the parade of those who do.
But, because so many people do, I chose to open my umbrella and shout over the noise with my properly-tagged fic and all my online shenanigans. Because that's what fandom is about, for me. And I - like I ask others to do - mitigate my own online experience.
I'm always going to be a little angry and bitter over what happened with the Cam/Pal discourse. I'm always going to grit my teeth when I recall the person who told me they felt sorry for my sister because I "shipped incest." (Ironically, this person ships the Tridentarii.) I'm always going to be twitchy about being a Cam/Pal gremlin on main (despite that fact that I am apparently now something of a Sixth House Expert on TikTok??? weird).
But overall, Nona's release day was one of the most entertaining, unhinged 24 hours I've ever had in fandom. It reminded me of why I love fandom so deeply and fiercely; it's supposed to be about community and celebration, both of the source material and about all the diversity that accompanies a myriad of reads of that same material. I truly hope (edit: as of the time this was posted, the following statement is true) that this is a sign of what is to come for the corners of the TLT fandom I'm in; I hope that we will continue to celebrate what Tamsyn gifted us while also going unhinged over the possibilities left for us in AtN.

Okay, Scream 4: ☑️ watched
Honestly, from what I gather this one is pretty polarising??
I’ll be honest, I loved it. This was the first time I’ve properly appreciated the killer reveal I think? I knew who the killer was in Scream 1, saw it coming in Scream 2, and was very shocked by the killer in Scream 3 but primarily because there was so much plot/backstory that as the audience we weren’t aware of, so there wasn’t the same kind of foreshadowing or hints. I really like the hints and stuff and I spent a lot of Scream 4 going back and forth between various people I thought it was, but the reveal still really took me by surprise and I enjoyed that so much.
I think my least favourite part was the beginning, purely bc I think they overdid the watching a movie bit by at least one too many, if not two
Also took notes throughout this one for the first time, haven’t included all of them bc there’s So Many, but I’ll put some of them below!
- Oh they’re watching Saw? I have actually seen (I think) all the saw movies apart from the last one so that’s cool
- Checking the doors are locked is more important than answering the phone wtf Trudy
- Trudy has the right idea, I love her
- Sherry, I agree with Trudy, please don’t open the door
- Oh shit, goodbye Trudy.
- Definitely two of them then? Back to the basics?
- Oh it was Stab 6, I see.
- Horror analysis w these blonde girls is my dream vibe - oh we’re very self aware in this movie huh
- HELLO Kristen with a knife
- Oh, huh, Stab 7 now
- Oh no we’re hearing things in the house, that’s never good
- Fake calls like that aren’t cool
- Oh. Goodbye Marnie
- Noooo why are you going UP stairs when he just smashed a whole door open in another room
- What is with this construction area 🤔
- Oh my god not another garage door
- That was a LONG pre title scene
- Sidney!!! Light of my life!!!
- Gale and Dewey are still together!!! Dewey is a cop again!!!!
- Dewey’s the SHERIFF
- Sids cousin??
- Dewey is a Serious Policeman now
- Excuse me miss police officer please stop flirting with Dewey
- So far the soundtrack for this is immaculate
- Okay Emma’s ex boyfriend is weird
- “From stab, or, you know, from your life?” BABE
- This deputy police woman is STUPID why would you mention evidence found in Sidney’s car in front of THREE teenage girls
- Gale being threatening has no right being that hot tbh
- Ewwwww Emma’s boyfriend snuck in. He gives off such bad vibes - especially the phoning all her friends last night
- I do NOT like him. I don’t think he’s the killer but fuck me there’s something off about him
- Ew these police officers being creepy about teen girls is NOT it
- Love that the girls are watching Shaun of the dead though
- Olivia going home alone is bad news I can feel it
- Oh no this guy having Trevor’s phone is bad bad news
- Sid where are you going
- Sid do not go in that house
- Sidney you do not have a weapon what the fuck are you doing
- Ghostface can fuck right off but he’s much more sinister sounding this time with the description of how he’d kill Syd etc
- These police are either startlingly incompetent or one of them is in on it
- Yessss Sidney fire that lady
- Oh fuck she is definitely gonna die any second
- Trevor looks very very not happy that Sid is in their film club
- This kid (Charlie) also thinks Gale is hot when she’s threatening and I respect the hell out of that
- Sweet cousinly bonding over the brutal murders is nice
- Gale hiding cameras at the party is very sneaky but not super cool of her tbh
- We’re focusing far too much on Gale for her to not be in danger rn
- Ah the cameras got moved, of course
- Dewey being mad at Gale but still trusting her enough to head straight to the farm is my favourite
- Gale babe why would you go back in there rn these vibes are so bad
- Dewey please do not follow him out that door
- Oh fuck him recording the murders is so vile
- Leaning towards the police being incompetent. Like, you’re that worried you might get murdered but both your car windows are open and your doors aren’t locked? Absolutely insane of you
- Oh my GOD both cops in one fell swoop and that knife to the head was NASTY
- Not not not a fan of this, cops are dead and Sid is the only one up? And there’s a window open?? Very bad news
- oof goodbye Sidney’s Aunt
- Sid racing off ok her own is not gonna look good but I do get it
- Jill going outside solo is BAD NEWS
- Creepy boyfriend following her is also bad
- And now creepy streaming boy is also outside this is all very bad
- Oh no and now he’s live streaming this cannot be good
- Kirby and Charlie!!! Very cute!!!
- Goodbye streamer kid
- Okay why are we all going UP stairs again
- Where did Kirby go??
- And Trevor and Charlie for that matter?? Dead? Hiding? Murderers?
- Suddenly I don’t trust Kirby either 🤔
- Oh this is very Scream 1 of them (tying Charlie up outside)
- Where is Jill
- FUCK ME, CHARLIE WTF
- Poor Kirby
- Jill what the fuck
- This has big Final Girl Support Group vibes. I know I only read it a week ago so I have it on the brain but this killer reveal is very reminiscent of that for me (in a good way)
- That’s the second time Sid has been stabbed in the last 15 minutes and I that cannot be good for her
- Very impressed with how all out Jill is going right now to be fair though, she’s fucking unhinged
- I’m pretty confident Sid isn’t dead but also don’t know how this is gonna play out
- How is Jill gonna explain how she knew where Gale had been stabbed 🤔 pretty sure she didn’t know that info before
- Fuck yeah Sidney’s holding on, go baby go!
- Uh this is gonna be very suspicious of you Jill babes. Like, you know they will probably pick up on the time Sidney was attacked and the time your vitals weren’t being monitored
- YES DEWEY AND GALE FIGURED IT OUT
- Come on Dewey I need you to be faster
- That’s a low blow going for a a knee and a punch to the stab wounds
- Tell me the police woman had two guns please
- Okay Sidney sneaking around, love that for you
- FUCK goodbye police lady
- Gale is NOT allowed to die, but neither are Dewey and Sidney for that matter
- Yesss the defibrillator to the head was badass
- Someone double tap her rn
- YES SIDNEY, 10/10
- Oh policewoman isn’t dead! Fuck yeah for bulletproof vests
- The reporters singing Jill’s praise outside the hospital while she’s dead on the floor in the hospital is excellent juxtaposition, loved that
Basically overall I had a great time with this film, didn’t fully guess the killer but only bc I was suspicious of everyone other than Sid in that house at the end
@trashcanalienist Scream 4 thoughts as promised! I’ll let you know how I get on with Scream 5, and might try and get to the cinema in the next week or two to see Scream 6 once that’s out 🤔

i know a lot of people dislike nesta. but honestly as a fandom who are (most likely) majority women we should come together to discuss WHY ON EARTH nesta was made out to be the big bad villain in the pregnancy situation
it’s actually just unacceptable and sjm needs to talk about what possessed her to have rhys and cassian laugh about punishing nesta with that death hike and blame her for everything while rhys is … never held accountable for anything
i know rhys is her favourite bla bla bla but reading that hike scene made me so disgusting. are we just going to allow sjm to put NO BLAME on rhysands horrid behaviour and blame everything on nesta?
idk i need more people to be talking about why a woman was once again blamed for a man’s own actions. do i think nesta told her the right way? ABSOLUTELY NOT. and obviously she needed to be held accountable for that
but the way she was just humiliated, degraded and punished on that hike while rhys laughed with cassian over it was honestly vile and misogynistic
nesta told her in an awful way. she lashed out in a moment of anger. but she is not the villain in that situation and sjm trying to push that narrative for even a second is so disturbing when she has rhys come out squeaky clean. no one blames him for anything. no one reprimands or calls him out.
everyone head canons that feyre yelled at him or whatever but they were absolutely fine the next time we see them. he probably just gave her another sob story and she forgave him
i dont hate rhys at all really. he’s one of my favs. i think his treatment of nesta in acosf doesn’t make him a villain
but sjm making nesta at fault in that situation is just horrendous and we need to talk about sjms internalised misogyny as a fandom more and why acosf is praised as some sort of feminist book when the blatant misogyny is always so clear every time nesta is made as if she is some sort of horrible evil person that kills children in her free time while the inner circle are always so righteous and amazing and kind
idk sjm needs some objectivity in her writing and she immediately needs to get rid of that horrid bias towards rhys
I've been putting this off until I reread acosf, but it's been months so... fuck it.
I think there is a difference between how the characters interpret one another's actions, and how the reader does. We have the benefit of relative objectivity, especially when the narration is third person. Of course Rhys is going to be angry because Nesta made him look like the asshole (now I'm imagining him posting this whole scenario on AITA), but his anger is misplaced, and we the readers don't have to agree with his anger. We don't have to agree with anything that the characters are feeling, nor do their feelings necessarily mean that sjm condones them. I think it's a good idea to separate our feelings from the characters' feelings, as well as from the author's feelings. Those aren't the same, and one doesn't have to influence the other.
And tbh... I don't fault people for being mad at Nesta telling Feyre the way she did. She came in swinging with the intent to wound. It wasn't about fearing for her safety, or being concerned for her autonomy and agency. Nesta was pissed off and wanted to make someone else hurt. Even if the end result was that Feyre had knowledge about what was going on with her own body, Nesta did it with shady as fuck intentions. So yeah, that's an issue, like you said, but it's an issue that stems from her habit of lashing out, so it was On Brand for Nesta to have done something like that.
HOWEVER. Rhys is clearly at fault for getting this ball rolling in the first place. He's 100% a dick for hiding that information, he's 100% a dick for making everyone else hide that information for him, forcing them to choose between their High Lord and Lady, their High Lord and sister/bestie. (I still want to pay closer attention to who knew, in acosf, when I reread.) He's a dick for prioritizing his own fear above Feyre's ability to make informed medical decisions.
The IC also fucked up for keeping that information from her for Rhys's sake. No one came out of that situation looking like a saint, but I don't think that sjm intended for them to? Otherwise it wouldn't have been a conflict, it wouldn't have come at the climax of the story, and it wouldn't have worked as a way for Feyre and Nesta to reconcile, which is why I think it was done, personally. I don't think the main reason was to make Nesta into the asshole, or Rhys, that was just incidental as sjm was making her merry way along the plotline of "I need Feyre and Nesta to reconcile but idk how".
(I do think they could have reconciled without all this bullshit tho. It would have been so easy for Feyre to have KNOWN and decided to not shift and still end up almost dying. Or it would have been so easy for them to think the whole time that the pregnancy was fine and then have the birth be traumatic, and have Nesta enter and save them. We didn't have to go... there, making every character do shit that is so out of line with how they've treated each other before.)
Anyway, my point is that I think enough readers have interpreted Rhys as indeed being the asshole that we can question whether Nesta was intended to be "the bad guy" in that situation. I wish to fucking hell that we could see Feyre being mad at Rhys, I wish that we could see Mor/Cassian/Azriel tearing him a new asshole for putting them all in that shitty position. But that's the nice thing about being readers, we don't have to take things at face value, and we can also say "hm, I think the author intended X, but i'm gonna interpret Y." (As long as there is actual evidence for it, let's not get crazy.)
If anything, I think that acosf did Feyre dirty, which is really disappointing considering everything she's done for all the people around her.

I’ve been rewatching the series since Friday[?] and had SO MANY FEELS. Now that I have this account, I’ll be putting all of my liveblogging for tonight under the cut so there aren’t a million posts clogging your dash.
4x05
I can hardly stand this fucking asshole!!! I can’t get through three words of his stupid monologue without pausing because he’s the absolute WORST and Jane doesn’t deserve this!!!
When she wakes up with her hair shaved and the hospital gown on and she starts CRYING as the realization dawns on her that she’s back in that hellhole? I’m so EMOTIONAL OH MY GOD!!! If this girl does not get a happy ending, I will burn this whole thing down.
The __ stingers and emotional music/synth/etc. are helpful to have in the subtitles bc I can’t hear them 85% of the time, but also they’re so hilarious that they kinda take me out of the moment. They’re like a lens flare in a Kelvin Timeline Star Trek film.
Horrifying and disgusting the way that Dr B breaks Jane down SO MUCH that you see the moment she crumbles and gives up trying to run because it’s no use.
When Dr B calls Jane daughter??? I felt sick to my stomach
There is no way that man would survive if Jane’s friends/family knew what he was doing to her. Especially her dad.
4x06
I feel less anger towards the other kids in the lab than I do to Dr B because at least they didn’t know much better. I’m sure there’s some free choice in there, but this vile creature is so manipulative that I don’t entirely blame them for acting the way they do.
Feeling absolutely sick as I remember that El was so tiny when all this happened. Like no wonder her brain repressed these (and so many other) memories! Protected her the best that it could!!! I wish Jane was in the hands of someone who actually cared about and respected her, bc most likely it would be a lot less re-traumatization if an actual therapist walked it through with her. Especially a modern one who knows EMDR or child-centered therapy.
I wish Dr. Owens hadn’t been pulled into all of this shit because he seems like a well-meaning person. But Dr. B is a master manipulator, so I can see even adults falling prey to his scheming.
HOW DARE THEY LET JANE THINK SHE KILLED THEM ALL!!!! I HATE THIS!!!!
4x06
SEE! Dr. O is NOT ABOUT THIS SHIT!!!
Oh my god, even when he says something I agree with, I want to punch Dr. B in the face. Repeatedly. I know how all this ends but I want him to die NOW! But also later so other people can fuck him up.
4x07
Okay but 001 manipulating Jane just like she’s been her entire life- I hate this! I hate it I HATE IT!!!!
I know that “who knew something so small could cause so much trouble” is also talking about El but I’m still screaming about it
Not exactly sure what JCB was told/directed to do, but I’m realizing on my second watch how s1!El’s (later seasons, too, but especially THIS season) movements are SO much like 001′s. Obviously he’s not a great dude, but seeing how much he shaped El, it makes sense in a twisted way why he’d be so angry at her “betrayal.” In his mind, HE built her up, but she instead chooses to be her own person. Then the trauma locks El’s memories, and she’s trained as the sole test subject (the wiki says she’s 8 in the flashback and 12 in s1, but I’m not sure how accurate that is. Time seems a little fuzzy in this show, for better or for worse.
God, I WISH ‘papa’ were dead in that scene! It would be SO NICE if he frikkin died and El escaped and had a happy and healthy childhood. None of the show would have happened, but I don’t care because she deserves good things!!!!
When JCB is killing 2, he looks positively reptilian. I can’t find a better way to put it.
oh my god it’s the big reveal scene and he’s so fucking dramatic??? I was gonna say “no straight man is this dramatic but no, actually, many are. but Cre.el is something else
ajsdfkljadf HELP I’m remembering the meme where he’s going on his evil villain monologue and El’s sitting there like “wtf is he even saying???” And if the audio is synced up for these conversations, does he just- give his little spiel to whatever captive audience he has available??? If so that’s fucking hilarious, I’m sorry. IDK if I can take him seriously anymore ajsdlkfjasjf Like obviously he’s a murderer and horrible person, but like... does he stand in front of his evil little mirror practicing his evil little monologue for whatever victims he catches in his trap? Does the mindflayer know this speech? Do the demobats squeak to each other about how their master did his little speech for them today? It’s late and I’m heading to bed after this, but my tired self finds it way too funny. I mean in a different context, this would be a very metal socialist rally, and in the moment I was like “no way!!” but looking back on it after all the memes, he’s just- a pathetic wet dog with powers.
I’m sorry but El’s face at the one hour, 25 minute mark is so funny too. The way he says “As I practiced, I realized I could do more than I possibly imagined” and El’s over here like “shut up, bitch. You’re talking too long and I’m sick of your shit.” Me too, girl.
“Join me.” “No” *telekinetically slams him into a wall* YOU GO GIRL! You’re gonna piss him off but you tell that lowlife NO!
See what you did, 1? You fucked up the space-time continuum is what you did. Even if El’s the one who made it happen in the first place.
And that’s it for tonight! It’s 11:45pm and I need to sleep! I’ll do a separate post for the last two eps of s4 whenever I end up watching them. I might find some of my other liveblogging and put it in a post as well so I can make headcanons from them later :)

here's a list of things i love about PSMD for no reason other than i think it deserves appreciation (spoilers)
the hero gets adopted by a nuzleaf. Hero, a young child that doesn't know why they were brought into this world, attacked by beheeyem, scared and alone, finds someone that takes them under his wing and gives them a home. it's really sweet that once Nuzleaf brings them to the Village, Hero's not alone anymore.
yes it was all a trick, he deceived you. but being betrayed by your father figure hits so much harder. it's much more personal, especially when both Hero and Partner are kids. and when Nuzleaf goes through all that ordeal in the post game, then gets accepted back into the village?? And his little speech to Hero????? it's heartbreaking and incredibly touching at the same time
everything is just so cute!!!! you go to school with your new friendo and you're friends with the schoolkids, and you make the trip to school every morning taking in the scenery, the smell of dew and fresh grass, and the sun on your face... and you take classes about Mystery Dungeon mechanics, and principal Simipour is a big BRO, the school nurse Audino is super kind and helpful... and you get to play with your pokemon friendos in summer vacation, and explore a dungeon with 'em... AND your bond with your Partner begins to form, getting stronger and stronger from then on. PSMD's beginning arc is so warm and pleasant, it's like reliving childhood memories all over again, when things were happier and you didn't have to worry about how cruel the world is. this story section's one purpose is to get the player used to the game's mechanics, as well as foreshadowing. unfortunately most of the school kids get forgotten later on, but I still love this part for everything it is, even if unintentional.
it's not just the beginning that's cute. PSMD'S ENTIRE WORLD IS ADORABLE. It's just filled with life every town you go. there are a bunch of pokemon locals and they all have interesting things to say, in the main story and the post-game. there's a point where their comments get repetitive, but that's bound to happen in any PMD game. Even then, the days are never the same. one morning you wake up and the Lively Town locals are exercising, then the next they're having singing lessons, and then they're practicing martial arts. and you get to connect with (or recruit) some of them just by.... chatting!!! Sitting next to that big ol' venusaur and sharing stories, laughing and having fun. it's good stuff.
Sometimes you find travelling pokemon in dungeons and it's jsut the coolest thing. Imagine you're exploring a dungeon, then your Connection Orb notifies you there's a fellow explorer in the floor. First thing you do is try to find them, and when you do - oh dang a travelling Archeops!!!! And then they just,,,, exchange their experiences and thoughts on exploration and how hard it is to fend off those enemies and the cool treasure they found the other day (the game calls it "[Team Name] and [Traveller pokemon] compared notes"). then the traveller heals you, fills your belly and restores your PP. and they go on their way. idk man it's such a cute interaction. explorers chatting, empathizing and helping each other, bc their job is not an easy one...
PSMD Partner is the most developed Partner in any PMD game yet. They start off as this naive, hyperactive kiddo, then stuff happens, and worse stuff happens, and you get to see how they grow and change and by the end they're a different person than they were before (in more than one way ...). It's just so nice to be by their side, from the beginning to the bitter end, and watch their growth. in contrast, Hero is a little unbalanced in that their backstory is not explored as much, and their personality is kind of a blank - probs meant to be vague so the player can be in their shoes. to me this just gives you the opportunity to shape their character however you want, so you can have tons of different hero/pardner dynamics.
The music is rlly flippin' good. Some of the tracks are recycled from previous entries, but when they go original??? it's a blast!!! "Echoes of the Mystical Forest" is one of my favorites in all four entries, it has no right being so amazing for a random dungeon. "Time to Set Out" makes me cry immediately (also i think it would be a better fit for the parting ways scene at the end...). Don't even get me started on "Second Dark Matter Battle", it has everything an epic climax needs and MORE. the Partner remix????? absolute genius
speaking of which, Dark Matter ITSELF,, is freaking amazing. Its actions were foreshadowed in the very beginning, though they were not blatant through the game. i do think they could have done a better job at showing the pokemon's negativity raising in the world, as well as negative feelings in the characters... but it's not like Gates did a good job at it, either (outside of cutscenes, all the locals in Post Town are incredibly nice to you and fights didn't "break out often". it's like the game tells you the world is a dark place, but what it shows in gameplay doesn't add up). so i'll cut them some slack. Still, I find Dark Matter a more compelling villain than the Bittercold for several reasons. it is sentient. its speech is a jumbled amount of voices all talking at the same time - the anguished voices of the world. It actually concocted a plan to hurl the planet into the Sun, using pawns like Nuzleaf and Yveltal to do its dirty job. in the Voidlands, Hero and Partner discover its past, and how it'll come back after defeat, like a cycle. when Partner accepts Dark Matter, they accept negative feelings as something everyone has within themselves. Most of all, the fact that Dark Matter is a manifestation of negative feelings doesn't make it just a generic threat, a final obstacle to be defeated so the world can be saved. It makes Dark Matter - negativity itself - a natural part of the world, the yin to its yang. and that's why I LOVE IT SO MUCH DANG IT EVEN THANKS PARTNER FOR THEIR ACCEPTANCE
The fact that Dark Matter can possess pokemon that have "even the smallest amount of darkness in their hearts". it makes me think of Mr. Nuzleaf and what he might have gone through in the past to make him so easy to be controlled. Did he hold a grudge against someone?? Did he commit a crime?? Had Nuzleaf always been malicious???? And if so, is this why he shows so much remorse in the post-game??????? because he had always been this vile fiend and then he met this small kid and got attached, but still carried on with his evil actions because his malice was still stronger than the positive feelings and Dark Matter's hold on him intensified?????? I don't know!!!! and as much as i wish the game could have given us that sweet mr. Nuzleaf backstory, it's pretty fun to have freedom to come up with your own version.
Everything about Super's climax is just phenomenal. Every single flippin' legendary is there to help you. Arceus is in the game. MEWTWO IS THERE. and when things are looking hopeless, they really seem hopeless. First the Tree of Life is dying, then your allies get turned into stone and sent to hell The Voidlands, Arceus gets turned into stone, the entire world is stone (except for several mon' that are still safe and holding onto hope, but they're so few). Your Harmony Scarves stop working and you and your Partner are back to your feeble, basic stage forms. You are bordering exhaustion, you have no Emeras, it's just you and your Partner against an eldritch abomination that's killing the life on the entire planet like a parasite, devouring all hope. but you still fight back. Given how adults in the game always discourage the village children from going adventuring, that they cannot do this or that because they're so little and fragile, it's awesome how Hero and Partner beat Dark Matter as tiny kids.
PSMD is not a flawless game. in fact there's plenty of things that hold it back and i even mentioned some... but it's still full of love put into it and it resonates w me more than PMD Explorers of T/D/S and Gates to Infinity (Rescue Team is a close second). its my all-time favorite PMD game.

can I get headcaonons of the beatles reacting to their gf, a singer in another band, being told by the producer that she sounds better on coke?
Hmmmm this is a touch out of my comfort zone tbh, but at the same time, having my faves stand up for reader against bullies/abusers is everything to me, soooooo
I'll do this one! :) But obvious trigger warnings for references to drug use/abuse
George
First things first, George would do everything he could to comfort you
It's scary to have your whole livelyhood threatened like that, especially when your freedom of choice is so harshly taken away
While it's not particularly something they brag about, he and the boys use anything for recreational purposes, certainly not because someone makes them
He's cool on the surface, but inside he's boiling to hear you're being treated like this, particularly considering you don't really want to be using anything in the first place
George tries to use his influence to his advantage and lobby (read: force) your producer to leave you be
If that doesn't work, he strongly invites you to come join him and the lads or to start a new band under a different producer
You have more then enough talent to pull it off after all!
The bottom line is: you don't have to do anything you don't want to, he just wants you to know you deserve that right
John
There are few people in this world who can achieve the particular type of "scary when mad" that John does
It's the kind that's quiet but snarling when speaking, one where even his subtle movements make one flinch
It takes just about all of his strength to conceal the vast breadth, depth, and heat of his anger as you tell him your situation
I fully believe John would make an in person appearance to whomever is in charge at your studio and uncork the afore mentioned anger in their direction
If you did ever happen come back to that studio in the following days...
Enough things have been broken and overturned that it'll take a good bit before the area is in working condition again
And if by some miracle being confronted by an enraged John Lennon, in addition to the legal action he most certainly would've threatened, isn't enough to sway your producer
John would doggedly insist that you ditch your current producer and maybe sign on with them
He has always been the protective sort, even with something of a jelous streak, and it would be dishonest to say it doesn't irk him a little to have to be so far away from you
Of course he's proud of you and respects your independence, he'd never want you to doubt it
But... The times he's daydreamed about singing on stage, side by side with his one and only girl is too numerous to count
Paul
The second Paul here's about your situation, he immediately assures you that he'll take care of everything
He knows how much you hate using and it kills him to see you slowly wasting the more and more you do
The truth is, he's suspected there was a problem for a while, he's just been waiting for the right time to talk about it
Paul would settle things fair and square without a show of force, but make no mistake, he will be getting what he's after
If your production company is small enough, he simply buys them out and hands the reigns over to you
If they're in a position that not even he and his Beatle money can touch them...
He buys out your contract and makes sure to free up an opportunity for you under their producer or with the Beatles themselves
Money really doesn't mean much to him, particularly when it comes to you, and anyway this would be far quicker then lawyers and a lawsuit
He would also be more then happy to pay for your rehab if you need it
He'll do whatever it takes to make you comfortable in your own life again
Ringo
Ringo is so floored by this revelation that he honestly doesn't know what to do
He's seen some pretty terrible things in his life, sure, but hardly anything as vile as coerced drug use and abuse
Truth be told, he's so overwhelmed with feelings, that's likely the source more then anything of his inability to come up with a solution
He's so upset and outraged and flat out shocked, that it's hard to think straight
He wishes he could go up and intimate these people, cause a whole frightening scene like John can
He also wishes he had enough know how and pull and to use his financial and celebrity status to dismiss the whole issues like Paul
Hell, he'd even settle for an even mix of those two, like George has
It's times like these that he just feels like the happy, dumb one in the group
However, that's far from the case
A true intellectual know when the odds are against him and when to seek out assistance, just as you have
And that's exactly what he does
With your permission of course, Ringo gets all the lads in the loop, even eppy
Together, they're able to drum up enough attention to shine a harsh light on the malpractices of your old producer and the whole brand is shut down and those shoes deserve it are locked away soon enough
After your story has reached so many ears, you essentially are given your choice of producers and record brands after your old place before down
Ringo just wants you to be happy, but...
He'd certainly love it if you joined up with him and the rest
