Just had like the biggest brain realization about Astarion bear with me I think I'm onto something here. Spoilers ahead for those who don't know about his "condition" or haven't heard about his tragic backstory™
I think people generally overlook the bite scene in favor of focusing on how it reveals Astarion being a vampire, how it can benefit the player if you're trying to romance him, or find an easy way to get him out of your party. I would like to note that there’s nothing wrong with this response! I did the same in my play through because I already knew he was a vampire due to spoilers. I just saw the scene as Astarion looking for his equivalent of a sandwich when it happened.
But why does Astarion bite Tav of all people?
The obvious answer is because Tav's the protagonist. Any important character scenes will happen to or involve them because they're the player character. It's the nature of how RPG stories are told. However, Larian Studios has put a lot of thought into this game, so why not dig a bit deeper?
Assuming Tav has everyone in their camp when this scene is triggered, Lae'zel and Shadowheart are off the menu purely because if things go wrong they'd immediately kill Astarion. Not good! If things go wrong with Karlach he could possibly smooth talk his way out of it. After all, she's a very kind person who goes out of her way to help people. But she's also twice his size and could snap him like a twig, which is not a risk worth taking.
Wyll isn't nearly as much of a threat as the other three, if it came down to it, Astarion could probably take him in a fight. The main problem here is that Wyll happens to have a habit of killing monsters, which would make talking things out really difficult. Astarion's relied on skills like persuasion for the past 2 centuries so he'd probably want to have his best skills be viable options if things go awry. Halsin, much like Karlach, is twice his size and could kill him with ease. Hard pass on that! This leaves Gale as the last, and really only, viable option. I mean look at him, he's frail as hell, always having the lowest HP in the party, and his weapon is a stick. Worst thing that could happen to Astarion is a bonk on the head.
So then why Tav? Why are they the one Astarion bites?
Now Tavs come in a lot of varieties. The player could be doing a Dark Urge run, they could be playing as the embodiment of pure evil, the kindest soul that is second only to Jesus, or somewhere in between. However, the one thing that unites them all is their power. They're the leader of the party and the others (to varying degrees) respect them. Tav is the one that chooses where the party goes, who they help, who they kill, and even how they'll have the tadpoles removed. In a way, Tav controls the party.
Remind you of something that Astarion openly talks about wanting?
For two centuries Astarion hasn't had autonomy, respect, freedom, resources, or control. What he's learned from those centuries is that power always gets you what you want. If you want freedom you need the power to control others. So while biting Gale would be the easy answer, it doesn't have the perk that biting Tav does.
If Tav wakes up during his biting attempt, Astarion could smooth talk his way out of it. If things go okay and Astarion gets to keep his head, he'll have gained more of Tav's trust. This in turn would give Astarion greater power over them as they'd be easier to manipulate, which in turn gives him more control over the others. If he ends up killing Tav then that technically would open up a power vacuum in the party. Whoever fills it would have all the power and control that Tav has. I don't think any of the other characters would let that happen though. Astarion's the person who you don't want to be the leader because he's clearly performing this role for his own self-centered reasons. Also seeing as this scene generally happens early in the game, nobody likes him enough to just let him become the leader.
Now if Tav lets Astarion bite them things get more interesting. It's a possibility that never occurred to him, but he isn't going to turn it down. First of all, it establishes Tav as an easy food source. Astarion has a consenting snack that in the future, might let him bite again. If that happens then Astarion's food source becomes far more reliable and surviving becomes significantly easier. Tav's consent also reveals how much they trust Astarion. From his perspective Tav's shown too much of their hand. Astarion's simple plan to manipulate Tav for the sake of his security has become child's play at this point.
All this being said having Astarion choose to bite Tav over Gale reveals so much about his character. While Gale is the safest choice to make, Tav's position of leadership is what entices Astarion to bite them over Gale. After experiencing two hundred years of mental and physical abuse, Astarion values power so much he'd be willing to risk his ability to not become a mind flare, and his life, in order to gain it. All because this is what he learned from being Cazador's slave for 200 years.

but where's our third wheel?
Funerals were bad enough. Funerals for "two young, promising lives cut tragically short" were even worse. To Jack Halley, who was the reason they were dead, it was shaping up to be the worst day of his life.
His massive Irish wolfhound Gelert, on the other hand, had no concept of bad days or funerals. Or survivor's guilt, for that matter. He was a miniature horse-sized mass of excitement and loyalty, and he was currently getting his wiry gray hairs all over Jack's nice, black suit.
"Thanks, Gellybean," Jack muttered as the dog covered his face in slobber. "I wish I could hang out with you today." He scratched behind the massive hound's floppy ears and sighed. "But I have to go, so paws off, alright? I'm serious."
Jack stood and tried to brush himself off. He hadn't been paying attention to the way the damp grass of his back lawn had left the knees of his slacks wet, but he knew his father would let him hear about it later. Jack strode to the old moss-covered oak where a tire swing hung from one of the lower branches. Thousand-mile staring past the powerlines that ran parallel to his street, Jack pushed the swing back and forth as Gelert nosed the back of his knee and whined.
"Yeah, I know, I should quit stalling. I don't need you to guilt-trip me," Jack told the dog before his mother appeared at his side with a lint roller and his new prescription.
"You're right, but you know it would probably help if you took these, right?" Martha Halley asked him, already rolling any trace of Gelert off his suit and tie.
Jack tossed the bottle of pills from one hand to the other and sighed. "Pills aren't going to change the fact that they're dead."
"No," Martha said and stroked his dark hair back from his eyes like curling it behind his ear had ever kept it from revolting before, though the streak of white was new, "but someday I'd like to see you get out of that dark place you've been sitting in since that night. Is that so much to ask?"
"No ma'am," he whispered and stooped to let her kiss his cheek. Raising his eyebrows at her, he tried for a smile, gave himself a quick once-over, and gestured towards to house. "Ready to go?"
"As I'll ever be." Martha folded her hands in front of her black dress.
Jack wasn't even aware his mother owned an article of black clothing before that day. She lived in vibrant colors, her makeup, her clothes, her nails. She'd been a real estate agent for twenty-six years, and she dominated the market of Asphodel Meadows since she'd married his father and moved into the area. Her trademark was her palette like something off an arcade floor from the eighties.
Seeing her dressed for a funeral, that one stupid detail, struck Jack with the realization of what had happened. It seemed ridiculous. The nightmarish memories of that night, the scattered remains of his friends, the full police investigation that followed. Surely all of that should have been enough for it to sink in.
That and the fact that half the town thought he was crazy for believing a person had ripped his two best friends apart when the police department had concluded that it had been an animal attack. It had landed Jack in therapy, with a rattling yellow bottle of pills to take twice a day, and healing scar on his right arm that he couldn't explain away.
"No reason to delay the inevitable, I guess," he rubbed the back of his neck and gave Gelert one last pat on the head. "Let's get to it."

“ things could be worse. “ “ debatable. “ for Bishova. 🥰
only one bed prompts
okay, this was way too fun lmao. hope you enjoy! :D
Pain radiated throughout Kate's left arm now that the adrenalin had worn off. She followed Yelena into their hastily purchased motel room and nearly bumped into her as Yelena stopped in her tracks. Before she could ask what the problem was, the smell hit Kate worse than a punch to the face. Immediately, Kate's hand flew to her nose and she held back a gag. "Oh god, what is that smell?"
Even Yelena looked a little green. "That is the smell of death," She said grimly. "A rat, maybe. Come, help me find it so we can get rid of the smell."
"I'm sorry-- what?" Kate was tired, she was in pain, and the last thing she wanted to do was go through their room and search for a dead animal. "Can't we just like... call the front desk?" Yelena turned to face Kate, brows raised in that way she did when she thought Kate had suggested something particularly stupid, or was attempting to lie to Yelena. "Right. This is one of those pay by the hour places, they're not going to care."
It ended up being a dead rat the size of a small cat that had chosen its final resting place in the bathtub. Yelena ended up stealing a trash bag from a maid's cart and scooping it up and tossing it out.
After that, Kate had gone to crack a window only to find that there was a literal crack in the glass already, a bullet hole or two-- cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. This was fine. She collapsed on one of the beds and turned her head to look at Yelena who was coming out of the bathroom armed with cleaning supplies. "Things could be worse..." Kate said, trying to find a bright spot. They could be dead, after all.
Just as she closed her mouth, a crash came from above them and then some of the ceiling tile fell onto the bed meant to be Yelena's. If looks could kill, Kate was absolutely certain that the glare being sent her way would have done her in. "Debatable..." Yelena practically growled.
Kate swallowed thickly and sat up. "It's fine! We can--- I can share my bed! Or-- or I can sleep on the floor, no problem."
Yelena rolled her eyes. "You're not sleeping on the floor, Kate Bishop. It's bad enough the bed sheets probably haven't been washed since this place's inception, who knows what sort of stains the floor holds. Not good for that knife wound on your arm."
Kate grimaced at the thought of what she might be lying on top of. Her stomach rolled at the possibilities. "Well, I won't let you sleep on the floor!"
Yelena let out a surprised laugh. "You think I would subject myself to that? We will share the bed. You are so funny sometimes, Kate Bishop."
True to her word, once nightfall came, and after she'd helped Kate clean her wound, they climbed into bed-- or rather, they both laid on top of the covers-- too aware of the things that generally went on in places like this. Of course with the temperature dropping and with the cracks in the windows, it got cold in the room. And if that wasn't bad enough, Kate discovered the heat did not work in the room. Because of course it didn't.
Yelena sighed and mumbled something in Russian after Kate had shivered for the sixth time. "Come here," She grumbled, holding her arms open. Kate did not have to be told twice, she moved so that Yelena was spooning her. "We tell no one about this."
"Of course," Kate gasped, going into a full body blush at the feeling of Yelena's warm breath on the back of her neck. "My lips are sealed." She was no longer cold, that was for sure.
After a few minutes of laying in silence, the sounds of muffled moans filled the room. Because OF COURSE someone would be fucking in the next room over. This was that kind of place, after all... Yelena stiffened and Kate's blush deepened. "If you ever say things could be worse, ever again, Kate Bishop, I will kill you."
"I sort of wish you would right now, anyway." Kate muttered as the moans got louder and more exaggerated.
She smiled as she felt Yelena laugh against her. At least the night could end with Yelena's amused laugh. Kate tried to focus on that as she closed her eyes. "Night, Yel."
Yelena's arms tightened around her. "Good night, Kate."

Misery Business pt. I
Imagine moving in with the Molina's after an incident back home. Instead of being angry, you realize this is your second chance to be truly happy and you really hope it goes better than your first attempt.
Tumblr media
Words: 6.1K Author's Note: I'm a sucker for three idiot ghost boys which is why I'm back, only in this imagine everyone is alive. Yes that includes Rose Molina as well :) Soulmate!AU too so have fun with that. FYI, Y/N will be "musically talented" but since I can't write music to save my life then "Y/N's music" will come from a little band that goes by the name of Paramore and by James Arthur.
Julie and three of her best guy friends are in the family studio outside, writing and jamming and just having the time of their life. Alex, Reggie, and Luke are about two years older than Julie, but the boys overlooked the teeny tiny age gap because her killer voice was exactly what their band was missing. The entire high school knew exactly who the boys of Sunset Curve were so they were all surprised when they took sophomore Julie Molina under their wing and rebranded their band.
Julie's family was very supportive of her music, especially her mother Rose, and she let Julie and the boys use her studio whenever they wanted so long as they all kept up their grades. They're usually left alone when Julie and Luke are in writing mode, so it's a bit of a surprise to see Ray and Rose entering the studio.
Alex is the first to notice them, nudging Reggie and gesturing to Mr. and Mrs. Molina, and then Reggie tosses a pillow at Luke's head to get his attention. Luke's rather rude remark is on the tip of his tongue, but his eyes widen upon seeing Julie's parents.
"Jules. Julie!" He hisses. "Your mom and dad are here."
"Hmm. What?" Julie finally looks away from her journal, her eyes widening before a beaming smile breaks out. "Mami! Papi. What brings you two here?"
"Hey mija," Ray says. "Can we talk real quick?"
"Of course!"
She glances at the boys and they're quick to start packing up, but Ray gestures for them to stay put. "It's okay, boys. You can stay for this."
Rose smiles. "After all, you are family too."
Every time Rose or Ray mention that the boys are family, they can't help but smile goofily. None of the boys have the type of relationship with their parents that Julie has with hers, so they're all grateful the Molina's accept them as if they were a Molina as well. Julie smiles as the boys, who are all practically older brothers to her, gather around her and Luke to hear what's going on.
On his way further into the studio, Ray grabs a chair for Rose and she takes a seat while Ray stands behind her, gripping the back of her chair. "Okay," he exhales a little roughly, "so you know the drama your cousin went through a few months ago?"
Julie frowns. "Yeah."
"Well it seems Y/N isn't doing so well," Rose says. "Your tía thinks a change of location is what's best for her."
"Y/N wants to move here?"
"Well not exactly," Ray says. "Y/N doesn't know. If we agree to take her in, then Y/N will be told of her relocation."
Julie nods, looking thoughtful. "Okay."
"Okay?" Ray muses. "What does okay mean?"
"Well I'm assuming you're only telling me because you never make a big decision without seeing what me and Carlos think," Julie says and then smiles brightly. "I love Y/N. Carlos loves Y/N, so I know he already voted yes."
Rose chuckles. "He did. I believe his words were I will throw down for Y/N any day of the week. Bring her home."
Julie snorts. "Of course he did." Then after glancing between her mom and dad, she nods with a gentler smile. "Whatever she needs. I'll even decorate the guest bedroom for her."
"That's nice, mija." Ray then looks over the boys, eyes settling on Reggie. "No flirting."
"I- what?"
"No flirting!"
Luke and Alex snort as Reggie gasps in mock outrage, but everyone knows Reggie is the one to flirt first and ask questions later. Ray and Rose laugh as they ready to leave the studio, Rose walking over to kiss her daughter on the temple before disappearing after her husband.
As soon as the teenagers are left alone, the boys whirl on Julie.
"So who's Y/N?" Alex asks, smiling innocently.
"And what was the drama a few months ago?" Luke wonders.
Julie glances between all three boys before sighing. "I'm only telling you this because it's highly likely she'll be coming soon." She has their full attention. "Y/N is my older cousin. Last year she met her soulmate."
"Aww," Alex coos.
"Or so we thought."
His smile immediately falls. "Oh."
Julie cringes. "Yeah. Apparently some new transfer student at her school liked my cousin so much that he decided he wanted to be her one and only. Really creepy dude," she says. "So somehow he figured out what her words were and made sure those were the first words he spoke to her." Their eyes widen. "When she spoke to him in return, he memorized the words and had them tattooed on. Then he refused to let her see the words, under the guise that they were in a private spot she couldn't see until they got to know each other better, until they healed."
"What the hell," Luke breathes. "That such a-"
"Dick move," Reggie mutters.
Alex nods in agreement. "Yeah. What they said."
Julie smiles sadly at her friends. "She was with him for a year before he met his real soulmate and then he tried to juggle them both. Y/N was really torn up about it."
"Who wouldn't be?" Alex says. "That is so messed up."
"It is. But if there's one thing I know about my cousin it's that she doesn't want people to tiptoe around her." Julie grins then. "So be yourselves like you are with me, just don't flirt with her."
Alex stares down his two guy best friends until they huff and nod in agreement. "I think they can handle that."
Tumblr media
Stepping out of the Uber in front of your tío's house, you're grateful you stopped being annoyed with your mom for making you move long enough to accept the money she transferred into your bank account. The ride from the airport to the Molina household wasn't exactly a cheap one and you regretted not letting your family pick you up when you saw what you owed.
But now you're here, one duffel bag hanging from your shoulder and a medium-sized suitcase sitting by your feet. You only have a moment to take it all in before the front door is opening, and your tío and tía are exiting the house to greet you.
"You're here!" Rose smiles and is quick to pull you into a hug. "How was your flight?"
"Decent. Just a little turbulence. I might have barfed. Twice."
Rose and Ray laugh, and then Ray's tugging you into a hug of his own. "We're so glad to have you, mija. Julie and her friends have just about finished with your room. They're really excited to have you here."
"And I'm excited to be here." Pulling out of the hug, you're met with two identical expressions that practically say Are you really?. "Well now I am." All three of you chuckle. "I was a little upset at the short notice, but I'm totally over it. I am a little tired though, so yeah."
"Oh. Of course. Just head on up, mija. You know where the guest bedroom is," Rose says. "Ray and I need to go get some groceries for tonight. Does arroz con pollo sound good?"
You groan quietly. "It sounds fantastic. My mom could never quite make it like you do."
Ray laughs. "Well my sister is not the cook she claims to be. Now go on. Rest up and we'll see you for dinner."
As Ray and Rose take their leave, you grab your suitcase and drag it inside behind you. You can hear laughter coming from upstairs so that's where you head towards, and you're not surprised to see Julie, Flynn, and who appears to be Julie's bandmate Alex tacking up some fairy lights and draping them across your headboard. The bedroom, which was usually bare except for the bed and dresser, has many of your personal things scattered about that had been shipped a little over a week ago now. However the sheer black curtains, the maroon comforter bed set, and the lights they're hanging up are all new.
"A-hem." You clear your throat, smiling when all three teens freeze and turn towards you. "Are you guys seriously having fun without me?" The blonde boy grins as the two girls squeal, you dropping your duffel bag next to your suitcase just as Julie and Flynn launch themselves at you. Your arms are spread wide as they wrap themselves around you and you bring your own arms down around their shoulders to squeeze them in return. "Did you girls miss me?"
"Uh duh!" Flynn is the first to retort.
Julie pulls back just enough to look you in the face. "We're going to have so much fun."
"So much." You can't help but chuckle, your attention then sliding to the quiet blonde. "Alex, right?"
He smiles. "Yeah. Hi. It's nice to meet you."
"You too, man. I keep up with the band on Youtube and can I just say that you absolutely kill it on the drums? I mean holy shit. You're awesome!"
Alex blushes as Julie points at him. "See! Own your awesomeness. My cousin thinks you're cool, therefore you are cool."
Both girls finally release you, Flynn stumbling back to sit on the edge of what is now your bed. Julie stays right where she's at, arm wrapped around your waist as you both stare at her bandmate. You nod and smile at him. "You really are. We definitely need to jam some time."
Alex seems to perk up then. "Y-You're into music too?"
Flynn snorts. "The Molina's are all freakishly talented. I'm almost jealous."
You roll your eyes fondly at Flynn. "Shush. You're talented in other areas." Then looking at Alex, you grin. "I sing and write. Not as amazing as Julie, of course, but I can hold my own. I like to perform-"
"Just not in front of an audience," Julie muses.
"-and just let go. The rush of it all feels good." You turn to pout at your cousin. "And yeah, not in front of an audience of strangers." You stare at Alex once more. "Friends and family is fine, just not like a legit stage. I'll projectile vomit like that one girl in Pitch Perfect." All three teens snort, that movie having been popular with all of them.
Alex then grins. "We'll definitely have to jam then once you're settled in."
A brief moment of silence descends upon the room, but Flynn is not having it. She claps her hands once, garnering everyone's attention. "So before we get comfortable, lets address the elephant in the room." You groan as she smiles broadly. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm fine, guys."
"Really? Your sudden move states otherwise."
"Flynn!" Julie scolds. Alex seems to freeze, his gaze darting between you and Flynn.
Flynn grimaces as she seems to think she's crossed a line, but you merely roll your eyes. "What exactly did my mom tell your dad?" You turn to ask Julie.
"Um," she gulps and fidgets in place. "I was just told that you weren't doing so good after everything that happened."
You snort. "Seriously?" Julie nods and you chuckle, shaking your head. "Guys, I'm fine. Honestly! I got over the heartbreak like a week after it happened and then I was just pissed off. But my friends helped me realize some things and I'm good now."
"But then why did your mom say you weren't?" Julie wonders.
"I love my mom, but she's a moron," you say. You drag Julie over to your bed, kicking off your shoes along the way and crawl to sit against the headboard. Julie does the same and you gesture for Alex to join Flynn at the foot of your bed. He does, smiling to be included. Once everyone's settled, you say, "So Jerry, who was the guy pretending to be my soulmate," you explain for Flynn and Alex, "has been trying to get in contact with me ever since I blocked him on everything I could. A couple weeks ago while I was out partying with some friends, Jerry and his soulmate were at the same party I was at. I didn't notice them, but they noticed me and they somehow managed to come up with the idea that I was stalking them."
"What a bitch," Flynn immediately blurts. Alex nods along with her.
"Anyway, Jerry's soulmate confronted me and I was completely blindsided by how angry she was with me. I mean, Jerry's the one who tricked me! Not the other way around." You shake your head in annoyance. "She made some hella stupid accusations and she threw a punch."
Julie gasps. "She didn't!?"
"She did. Now I'm not stupid, so I let her hit me a couple of times before I took my first swing. Fortunately for me, she clawed me," you pull your shirt down to show them three marks just above your cleavage, "and she was arrested when the cops got there. After giving my statement and getting statements from the witnesses, they determined I acted in self defense and let me go home. Mom took the little altercation as me spiraling and acting out, so she shipped me off."
"Jesus," Julie sighs. "That's messed up."
"It really is. But oh well. What happened, happened, and now I get to live with my favorite people."
All four of you laugh before Alex gestures towards your chest, sobering up some. "I have some cream that you can use so it'll fade the scars. My soulmate likes to skateboard and he gets pretty banged up every now and then so I keep a stash of that stuff for him."
You smile fondly at him. "Yes, please. The first time my real soulmate sees the girls," you shimmy your chest just the slightest, "I don't want him to see my battle wounds."
Julie swats you with the back of your hand and you laugh at her exasperated expression as the other two break down into giggles.
Lounging around in your room, you ask Julie about her other two bandmates but Alex tells you they had family obligations they couldn't get out of. Carlos gets dropped off by his friend's mom and he joyously jumps onto the middle of the bed when he realizes you're finally there. So that's how Ray and Rose find the five of you, laughing and joking in your new room before dinner is ready and making plans to hang out the following day when everyone could meet up.
Tumblr media
After explaining to your tío and tía the real reasoning your mother had you sent away, it was like a weight was lifted off their shoulders and they were more at ease in your presence. You laughed at their sheepishness, at how they thought they had a rightfully heartbroken teenager on their hands with no clue how to ease said heartache. But when all was said and done, everyone seemed to be themselves around you.
Alex had shown up that afternoon, soulmate in tow, and immediately you asked to play with Willie's hair. Both boys had laughed, Willie agreed and readily sat on the floor between your knees as Julie and Alex Facetimed Flynn about any upcoming open mic nights they could book. Willie had a box of random hair supplies in his lap and you saw how he kept running his fingers over a feather and some small silver hoops. Without even asking him, you grabbed a couple of silver hoops, a feather, and set them aside. You had him tilt his head and he did so without questions, closing his eyes as you started to part and section the hair on the right side of his head. Alex smiled every time he looked over at the two of you and you happily gave Willie three thin braids about five inches long before letting the rest of his hair hang loose. The two outer braids had the silver hoops clipped in and the braid in the middle held the feather you had braided in with a thin leather cord. When you were finished and then combed out Willie's hair one last time, you told him you were done and had to bite back a laugh at the way Alex gulped. Willie eagerly went to check himself out in the mirror, beaming at his reflection before turning around and pulling you into a hug.
While your tío Ray and tía Rose worked, and Carlos spent time at his friend's house, you and Julie ordered in some pizza for yourselves, Alex, and Willie. They had no plans at all for the day so the four of you went out to Rose's studio garage when Flynn finally showed up.
Flynn has the bright idea to do karaoke, pulling out the equipment and setting up a laptop Julie had in the studio for this occasion.
Flynn killed it on Nicki Minaj's Starships, you and Julie sang Mamma Mia and were joined by a very enthusiastic Alex. Willie absolutely refused to sing, but that was okay because he knew the choreography for Backstreet Boys Everybody and you eagerly pulled him up to dance with yourself and Julie. Tío Ray and Tía Rose showed up with Carlos in tow, and you and Julie laughed joyously as her parents sang through Journey's Don't Stop Believin'.
Everyone was laughing and having a good time, but as the sun was going down the parental figures went inside to talk through dinner ideas and clean up a little.
You ask Julie if she has any originals you have yet to hear, but as she goes to go grab a journal Alex speaks up. "What about you? You said you wrote, right? I need to hear an original."
"I, uh, sure." You shrug. You turn towards Julie, eyeing the laptop. "Are my instrumentals still on there?"
She grins. "Yeah. Can I choose?"
"Go for it." You get up to go see which song of yours she's going to choose, smiling softly when you see her choice. Alex is practically bouncing in his seat, Willie is shaking his head at him in fond amusement, and Flynn looks torn between recording with her phone. When you nod at her, she beams and gets ready to hit record on her phone.
"So before Julie hits play, I just want you guys to know I wrote this song while I was Jerry. He absolutely loathed it when he first heard it because he thought I was singing about someone else." You huff a laugh. "The song was honestly about a couple on a TV show I got fixated on, but he didn't believe me. So anyway, I might be a little rusty, but Julie loves it so here goes nothing.
Julie hits play. The violin starts and you smirk when you see Alex's eyebrows raise. Then the drums, guitar, and bass kick in and his eyes widen just as his jaw drops when your attitude completely changes.
"I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top. She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock. It's a matter of time before we all run out. When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth."
You keep singing, singing to Julie, but then it goes silent before the chorus kicks in and you find yourself back to back with your cousin as she joins you. "Woah, it was never my intention to brag. To steal it all away from you now. But God, does it feel so good 'cause I got him where I want him now. And if you could, then you know you would 'cause God, it just feels so.. It just feels so good."
Willie whoops and you laugh your way through the next few lines, rocking your shoulders and even throwing in a couple of head bangs for good measure.
But then the music quiets just so and you face the boys. "I watched his wildest dreams come true and not one of them involving you. Just watch my wildest dreams come true. Not one of them involving.." You head bang now, twisting your head back and forth so your hair wildly flips back and forth. Julie plays the air guitar and you're laughing, having made yourself dizzy in the process. But then as one particular part comes up, you sidle up to Julie's side, your face just inches from the side of her own face as she stares forward. "Woah I never meant to brag, but I got him where I want him now."
Your chest aches from putting your all into your own song, sweat beading at your hairline as you jump around dancing. You're exhausted by the end of the song, but it's well worth it to see Alex's gobsmacked expression.
The studio falls silent, but it's Willie and Flynn who jump to their feet. Their utter amazement and joyfulness makes you a little sheepish, but then Alex is standing to his feet. "Holy shit."
"Right?" Julie cackles. "I've been begging her to play live with us for one song, but she won't."
"Are you frickin' kidding me?!" The new voice has your head snapping in it's direction, the boy in a leather jacket and red flannel wrapped around his waist staring at you in wonder. "What is it with you Molina's and your musical talents?"
Your face flames at his praise, eyes then darting to the boy with shaggy hair and a sleeveless shirt gaping at you. You chuckle nervously and Julie wraps an arm around your shoulders, grinning as she introduces you. "And here we have Reggie and Luke. Guys, this is my cousin Y/N."
"Dude, will you marry me?" Luke's words make everyone laugh out loud, but you freeze.
Julie, having felt you tense up, stares at you. "Y/N? Are you-"
But you cut her off, eyes solely on Luke as you say, "Bro, don't call me dude." Your mocking tone makes Flynn snort.
Not only is it Luke's turn to freeze, but so do Alex and Reggie. Their eyes widen as they stare between you and Luke, your heart beating triple when you realize just who this is.
"Oh my god," Alex mutters.
"Oh my god!" Reggie exclaims, smile instantly beaming.
"OH MY GOD!" Julie shouts, arm tightening around your shoulder. "Did he just- did you just say.." You nod, your breathing becoming a little erratic. Julie notices and turns you so she grips you by the shoulders and you're staring directly into her face. "Hey, it's okay. You're fine. Luke's one of the good ones."
You gulp. "I- it's not that," you murmur. "But he said.. and I need to see-"
Before you can finish, the presence of said boy is right next to you and Julie. You startle at his appearance, but then he's holding out his arm between you and your cousin and you glance down to see the words that have been stamped into his skin since the day of his birth. There on the space just below the crease of his elbow are the words bro, don't call me dude.
You laugh, a little wetly, but no one dares to call you out on it. Instead, you turn and lift your shirt so he can see his own words stamped on your ribs. A faint touch has you flinching away and giggling, and Julie snorts as you pout at Luke who seems to realize you're ticklish.
"OH MY GOD! YOU GUYS ARE SOULMATES!" Flynn shouts. "THIS IS SO COOL!"
And just like that the tension is broken, everyone laughing and cheering. You're having trouble holding Luke's gaze, his crinkled eyes and swoon-worthy smile making you want to reach out and hug him. So when you see his fingers twitch and tap out a beat against his leg before he clenches his fists closed, you cave and pull him into a hug. He hesitates a moment before he sighs, wrapping his arms tightly around you in return.
"Hey. ¿Qué está pasando? (What's going on?) Rose wonders. Apparently the cheering had caught tía Rose and tío Ray's attention.
You and Luke break apart, but your arms remain touching as you both stare at Julie's parents like you'd been caught doing something wrong. And since the two of you can't seem to form words, Julie giggles before filling them in. "Luke and Y/N are soulmates. They said each other's words."
Ray and Rose immediately look at you in shock, and you can feel your face heating up. Slowly, you smile at your tía's concerned expression and immediately she's beaming as she makes a beeline for you. "Mija! That's wonderful news." You laugh as she hugs you and then laugh even harder when you see your tío Ray clamp a hand down on Luke's shoulder. Then releasing you and turning towards Luke, tía Rose smiles as she opens her arms wide before moving in to hug him. "I'm happy for you too, mijo. Welcome to the family." Then pulling back, she says, "Not that you weren't already part of the family, but you know."
Luke chuckles, ears turning red. "Thanks, Mrs. Molina."
"Well this is a cause for celebration," Ray says. "Anyone feeling up to pasta?" Julie, Flynn, and Reggie all whoop in unison. "You going to join us, Willie?"
Willie, never usually around for long periods of time with Julie's family, is surprised to be invited. Alex beams at his soulmate and Willie knows he can't say no. "Sure, Mr. Molina. Thanks for the invite."
"Great," Rose smiles. "Well now that that's settled, I'm going to go make a reservation so we don't give the hostess a stroke when we all walk in. Everyone has two hours before we leave."
Tía Rose and tío Ray congratulate you and Luke one last time before they take their leave. Everyone follows after them, excitingly talking outfit choices, but Reggie remains by the opened doors smiling between you and Luke. A second later, Alex returns and marches a reluctant Reggie away.
Now that it's just you and Luke, the two of you laugh nervously.
"So.."
"So.." You both laugh nervously again and then you're groaning. "This is so weird, but like I'm also really excited."
Luke loses some of his nerves and his shoulders slump. "Really? You're excited?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
He turns sheepish then, averting his gaze as he shoves his hands into the front of his jean's pockets. "Julie might have explained the shitty thing your ex did and yeah. I would understand if you weren't stoked to meet me on your second day here."
He's so genuine in his explanation that you can't help but mentally swoon at this boy before you. You're not sure where the sudden confidence comes from, but you're grateful for it when you step closer and take his face in the palm of your hands so he's staring right at you. "Okay one, my mother didn't properly explain why she moved me here. I'll fill you in later, but I'm telling you right now it's not because I'm heartbroken or anything. And two, I am stoked to meet you. You wanna know why?" Luke can only nod as he pays close attention and you grin at him. "Because the moment realization sunk in, everything just felt.. it felt-"
"Right?" He asks, voice low.
You nod. "It felt right. There was no uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach, there was just elation. Like I found something I didn't know I was looking for until you uttered the words etched on my ribs."
Luke slowly smiles and you let your hands fall to your sides, leaning in and quickly kissing his cheek. "Now come on. We need to get ready for tonight."
His cheeks turn red almost immediately, but you don't say anything as you grab his arm and drag his hand from his pocket. Then clasping his hand within your own, you drag him out of the studio and up towards the house.
Tumblr media
Dinner was quite the affair, everyone pushing you and Luke next to one another at the table and cooing over how adorable you two were. Even his parents, Emily and Mitch, had been invited along and everyone smiled throughout the entire dinner. The table was quite loud, but not a single customer nearby or the waitresses could blame you when Reggie loudly explained that they were celebrating newly found soulmates. There was even applause that had you and Luke turning red in the face and then trying to aim a kick at Reggie's shin under the table. Unfortunately, Alex took the brunt of both kicks.
When the weekend was over, Luke and the boys stood by your side on your first day of school. The band had quite the following and those fangirls of theirs were not impressed to see you and Luke hand-in-hand. It was a bit daunting navigating the hallways with a majority of the school's population looking down their nose at you, but then Julie, Flynn, and surprisingly Carrie Wilson (your cousin's arch-nemesis) came to your aide. You understood Julie and Flynn's protectiveness, but Carrie's was a shock and she merely flipped her hair over her shoulder while giving the excuse that no one should be shit on just because they found their soulmate. The girls were stunned, but shrugged it off and let Carrie do what Carrie wanted to do.
Tía Rose and tío Ray saw a lot more of Luke at their home, but didn't put up any fuss. The only thing they asked was that if they were alone in the room, then the bedroom door was to remain open at all times. And not wanting to disappoint them, you and Luke abided by their rules. Because being with Luke.. it was the complete opposite than being with Jerry. There were no nerves, no second guessing, and no jealousy. You were happy to be with Luke and vice versa, and either of you could go out with friends with no twenty questions about who you were going with and where (Jerry seriously did a number on you).
You became Julie and the Phantoms number one fan, alongside Willie and Flynn, and sat up in the loft with Willie while the band rehearsed downstairs. The times you did go downstairs after rehearsals and Luke bounded over to you like an eager puppy, you had to fight the urge to chuck something at Reggie and Julie when they cooed over how cute you were together.
Luckily for you, Luke wasn't into PDA other than hand holding or hugs. But it still didn't stop your friends from mockingly groaning for you to get a room when Luke would hug you from behind and stay there with his chin hooked over your shoulder.
Today is one of the rare days the band left Luke alone so he could spend the time with you, but you're stuck doing Algebra II homework and Luke is going through one of your old writing journals for abandoned lyrics to give him inspiration.
You've been stuck on the same problem for what feels like twenty minutes when you hear Luke sharply inhale. You glance up at him, watching him read through something that's clearly caught his attention. You can't help but grin at his look of concentration and then his expression falls and your heart suddenly aches.
Luke glances up and you gulp. "What's this?"
"What's what?"
He glances back down at the journal in his hands before looking at you once more. "Something titled Train Wreck. It looks like a completed song."
Your expression completely goes lax then. "Oh. That's, uh, I wrote that a while back when my mom and dad were going through their divorce." You close the math book in your lap and hesitantly meet Luke's gaze. "That was not a fun time for all involved. My mind was kind of.. messed up back then."
Luke gulps. "I don't want to seem inconsiderate of what clearly was a dark time for you, but this- this is really good, Y/N. Do you have a melody for it?"
You huff a laugh, shaking your head in fond amusement. Only Luke would be this invested in a song. "I do. I think it's on the laptop in a password protected file.."
His eyes light up. "Can I hear it? You don't have to, I just-"
"It's fine." You get up, heading over to the laptop and powering it up to find what you need. After a bit of searching, you find it and open it up. Letting the melody play, you look up at Luke. "I won't sing the whole thing, but I'll sing a portion of it."
He eagerly nods. "I'll take anything."
You smile at him, nervously taking a seat on a crate in the middle of the room. He finds another crate and places it close to you, wanting to be as close as possible. You close your eyes, smiling, and let the melody wash over you as the lyrics come back to you in a flash. Your heart beat is beating double, but you inhale deeply and let it out slowly.
Losing yourself to the music, you mouth the lyrics to yourself until letting your voice ring out. "Underneath our bad blood, we've still got a sanctum. Home, still a home, still a home here. It's not too late to build it back 'cause a one in a million chance is still a chance, still a chance and I would take those odds."
You open your eyes, chest aching as all those feelings from so long ago come rushing back and make your voice just that much stronger. "Unbreak the broken, unsay these spoken words. Find hope in the hopeless, pull me out of the train wreck." Luke grabs your hand and you squeeze it for all your worth as you keep looking forward. "Unburn the ashes, unchain the reactions now. I'm not ready to die, not yet. Pull me out of the train wreck. Pull me out, pull me out, pull me out."
You meet Luke's gaze then, a little surprised to see his eyes red rimmed and teary through your own blurry vision. "You can say what you like, don't say I wouldn't die for it. I'm down on my knees and I need you to be my God, be my help, be a Savior who can-"
Your voice cracks on the next word and Luke tugs on your hand, pulling you into a hug. A sob escapes your throat as you cling to Luke, but you quickly stifle it against his shoulder. As the melody plays out, you press your forehead to his shoulder before pushing back and sniffling. "I, uh, I'm sorry about that. Everything came rushing back and I-"
"Don't apologize." Luke catches your face in the palm of his hands, thumbs brushing away your tears before his lips press against your forehead. The action is so soft that your expression crumples momentarily, but you quickly mask it when Luke pulls back to catch your gaze. "That was amazing, Y/N! So amazing. And I'm sorry it brought up bad memories, but.. wow."
You huff a laugh, pulling back so you aren't hunched over. Luke, however, refuses to stop touching you and catches your hands within his own. "I should have guessed you'd be easily impressed."
"For you? Always."
You shake your head, grinning. "You're so freakin' cheesy, Luke Patterson."
He chuckles and again you're hit with a sudden boost of confidence that you lean forward, one hand finding the back of his neck so you can bring him to meet you halfway in a kiss. He smiles against your mouth, but the smile quickly falls the second you tilt your head to deepen the kiss. Unfortunately, just as the tip of your tongue flicks against his bottom lip, you're interrupted.
"Can we come in now?" Reggie's voice rings out. "I really wanna give Y/N a hug after hearing that song."
"Reggie!" Julie scolds.
You and Luke pull apart laughing. You both straighten up and look towards the door just in time to see Reggie rubbing at the back of his head as he walks in with Alex and Julie behind him. Hand in hand, you and Luke stand up and chuckle at Reggie's put out expression.
Had you known that having a soulmate felt exactly as you feel right now, you would have known something was definitely up back home with Jerry. And though you will always hate your ex for tricking you the way he did, there's an ounce of gratefulness for the misery he put you through because had he not then you wouldn't have moved and met your true soulmate.

Part 23: Movement
Tumblr media
"I hope I don't have to jump up here," you sigh gripping the pole to test its sturdiness. It seems strong enough, but then so does the hardwood floor. "I don't have the upper body strength to hold myself up and I definitely don't need to bust my ass in these slippery socks--what," you smile watching Toni bite her lip at your skepticism from Ava's other side.
"Nothing. You have a lot of cushion, you'll bounce back," she gestures eyeing your rear. She's joking but you're serious.
"I'm just saying socks on hardwood with jumping if you're uncoordinated seems like a recipe for disaster."
"You get used to it, stick with us," Ava comforts. Stick with us.. It echoes in your mind. They actually want you there.. continuously.
A small group of women in variety of shapes and sizes, mostly black, gradually takes the remaining poles as the mingling conversations rise. It's a comfortable environment. The sun streams in through the windows bringing in nice natural light. Adjusting the band on your sports bra, you hop but neglect to wrap the pole with your legs. Toni chuckles in good humor.
"Ugh.. I don't know about this you guys."
"It's just a workout, girl, you'll be fine," she waves. "Besides, your NOT sugar daddy will love it when you show him all that assss in motion."
"Oh my God, he's NOT a sugar daddy," you whisper as she mocks you. "Y'all are so aggravating."
"That smile says different.. Just remember to tell me all the nasty gritty details when you throw it back with these moves. Yo' ass got handled before," her nude nails clink against the pole judgingly. They'd lost their minds when you told them about that night in the hotel. You had to tell the story twice because they wanted to visualize it. "He did whatever he wanted to do to that kitty, beat it to high hell. Now YOU are gonna have the power to put it on him. That fatass bunda gone kill him, just wait on it."
Watching your wagon in the full length studio wall mirror you grip the pole to make it wiggle watching it move on your reflection. "I don't know, see, I can move it I just can't move it seductively. I'm kinda stiff."
"She ain't ready for all that yet, Toni, let her take it slow. She can't just jump out there, class ain't even start yet," Ava laughs. "She need the basics."
"I need to learn how to dance," you interject. "Like lap dance and all that jazz.."
"That's simple," a woman's voice cuts in demanding the focus of the room of women who seem to recognize her on entry. Casually, you spin to meet a pair of long toned legs like a gazelle building up to a slender curved shape to be envied.. covered in glowing rich brown skin..
This can't be real, you blink as your mind whisks you back to the fateful day of your meeting each other. The memory is fresh as if it were yesterday.
“What’s your name,” she murmurs, voice as addictive as Erik's. You glance at him and he shrugs leaving the decision of how to respond up to you. When you answer, she recites your name like a poem and you smile. She has a calming effect that puts you at ease and she’s so, so beautiful. She tells you you’re the beautiful one and it makes your face heat. Her fingers lightly brush the warmth of your cheek before moving to her own erect nipples tweaking the silver bars.
“You wanna touch them?” She asks while stepping closer and she reaches out for your hand to pull it to her breast. Your eyes nervously flit to Erik’s and he doesn’t intervene. Not knowing quite what to do you tweak the silver bar and she sighs in pleasure. She moves your other hand to her other breast encouraging you to do the same. Her fingers find your chin again and then she’s close, lips coming in hot. You close your eyes.
Those eyes..
Her black lined cat eyes lock onto yours echoing your shock with a thick and strange energy. She's just as shook seeing you yet she never loses the graceful glide in her step to her teaching pole, glancing evenly from you and squaring her gaze to cover the class.
"Well damn," Ava blurts reading the thoughts of the room as the instructor flips her long high pony of burgundy locs. An exhale is all you muster as your brain thinks of several ways this could end badly.
"Hello my SugarDoll Fitness family," Shay waves to the group in a motion ending with her hand perched cutely nder her chin. It gains an equal positive return from the class.
Smiling just to fit in you look around and nod politely wondering what excuse you could make to Toni and Ava if you leave, especially after Ava just invited you to 'stick with' them. Would the truth suffice or would it bring more unnecessary drama and questions?
Toni and Ava would have a field day if they knew the real nature of your relationship with Erik and Ms. Shay. Last you remember, Shay's pierced nipples were in your between your fingertips. She wanted to devour you whole according to Erik. You haven't even told them you were in the BDSM life yet. They don't even know about the submission thing between you and Erik, they're still stuck on sugar daddy.. It's not something you wanted to share.
That's not something to bring up in this setting..
The way Shay looked at you back then made you feel like she was a starved tigress and you were the live prey, but somehow you were comfortable. She was intense but not intimidating... unlike Erik who initially made you so nervous you couldn't relax. No, she wasn't like that.. It felt more like she was wise beyond her years, but very playful and mischievous.. You'd liked her energy.
Then Erik went and cut her off because of his insane jealousy which was great in the sense that it was one step closer to being his only partner, but dumb in the way that it came about. It's one of his flaws. Erik needs to put his jealousy in check before he does something too impulsive to reverse or gets his feelings hurt.
If he'd never taken you to her home, they'd still have their BDSM dynamic, which brings up the issue of blame. Was it your fault? Does she blame you? Does she even care or miss the man? They seemed to pair well despite his gripes that she was troublesome.
Funny... You'd think he'd love a troublesome woman. He say he like spice and Shay had that with the experience to match, so then why choose you? Why not her over you or her and you? He could've made it work. Something about her being too dominant seems like a copout for him, looking back..
"I see some familiar faces. Faith.. Nicki.. Lynn.. Janell.." Her ruby red lips part in a smile and there's something about the simplest of her motions. Everything is a subtle demand for power.. "I see a lot of new faces too," her eyes roll down the line to yours, lingering briefly like she wants to say much more. Her eyes lower for the briefest of moments and where you anticipated malice, there seems to be none. There's something on her mind instead.
"You good," Ava nudges your side in question. You flinch slightly but nod. There's something Shay wants to get out but she can't with everyone else present.
"I want us to get to know each other in here as women. We all have our reasons for being here.. Let's go around the room. I'll start," Shay announces with a slow walk to her right, a natural sway to her hips. "As some of you may know, my name is Shayla Berry, Shay for short aka SugarDoll. Yes, I am an exotic dancer. Yes, I am a dominatrix," her eyes roll playfully. "I also paint by trade and teach pole fitness. I am a multifaceted business woman with a flare for the artistic," her black painted fingers flare. "I meditated on having my own successful studio and then I manifested it to reality when I rented this place a few months ago and baby when I tell you the law of attraction works, I am flourishing."
She gestures to her right and the introductions begin from the repeat students as well as the new. There's a teacher and a nurse present. Everyone's common goal seems to boil down to exploring their sensuality while having fun with dance and getting in a good workout.  Then there's Toni. She's a traveler, which you knew. She likes to shop and eat. What you didn't know was that she is also a pilot and works 100 hours a week max. As for Ava, you knew she was originally from the ATL and lived a sugar baby life, but you did not know that she was raised amongst strippers and that she's also an audiologist. She had to explain to the class what an audiologist was.
"And you?" Shay's fiery eyes focus in as she takes a half step towards you.
"Y/N," you say as if she doesn't already know. She knows more than Toni and Ava, she saw your whole coochie for the sake of giving you a biology lesson. Embarrassing.. "I'm from Cali.. born and raised. I don't travel that often, but I'd love to go to Europe.. I love movies, it's really all I do.. watch movies, sleep, and work.. I work in cybersecurity."
"You prevent hackers?" Ava's neck cranes and you nod as she gives a look of approval.
"This is probably messed up," you pause as she and Toni both look up, "But I don't know why I assumed you two were spending men's money in the mall when we met," you whisper feeling superficial. Just because they're universally gorgeous like celebrities doesn't mean they aren't successful outside of that and able to afford the finer things on their own accord. You can do both.
"..We were," Ava shrugs simply. "My money stay in my savings.. I haven't paid a bill with my own money in two years."
"Work smarter not harder babe," Toni smirks. "You oughtta know."
"That's just it, I don't know because that's not something I've experienced because Erik and I are friends with benefits..," you sigh. "A lot of benefits..."
When introductions wrap up, the lesson starts and Shay jumps right into it with terminology foreign to you.
"This is a mixed pole fitness class.. So go ahead and face your poles, we're going to start with some body rolls. Hands low on the pole like so," she demonstrates. "Roll it out." Her body waves in a fluid S motion. "Chest, abs, hips... Chest, abs, hips.. Let it roll, smoothly down to the floor and up. Y/N, get on your tiptoes, baby. Lexi, get your arms involved. Stick that ass out, don't be scared.. Perfect. I'm watching all of y'all," she says pointedly. "..Again."
You watch and try your best to duplicate, your S moreso a stiff Z and she switches her hand position to the top of her pole.
"Now we're gonna walk around and this helps loosen the joints. Think tight and tall as you stride around the pole on those toes. I don't want any flat feet. Keep on your imaginary heels, Y/N," he blinks your way. "Now stop on the side and circle those hips." Her hips rotate as though they're on a swivel.
When you look to Toni and Ava, they're already moving like pros which tells you they do this often. They travel together, shop together, share life, and take classes like this together. They're already extremely close. It's surprising they'd think to invite you into their circle..
"Outside arm and leg sweeps back, across the floor, sweep out and back."
"Like you're swimming," someone adds.
"Exactly, like you're swimming. Next move, grab that knee, pull it up and out, soft hands, open that chest, roll it back... same leg flick the toe and kick forward."
"I can't go that high," the same woman from before says."
"That's fine, go to where you're comfortable. Lunge back same leg.. and we're going to repeat the process with the other leg."
The routine goes on minutes more until she gets to a pirouette which is a more familiar term. Unfortunately, that's followed by slow pushups which, of course, doesn't happen. Toni uses her knees, but Ava does the full set of pushups. She's the only one.
"Showoff," Toni mutters.
The next moves require a lot of knee pivoting and borderline twerking in slow motion. You feel the workout in your thighs, your knees, your abs, and your back. It's only been fifteen minutes out of the hour and you're stopping for water. Some of the motions have been easy to grasp, but some have been frustrating. It's only my first time, you remind yourself.
Thirty minutes in, you've developed an idea of how to move and what to incorporate into your sex life.. when it revives. Putting the moves together into a routine is the current issue.
"I could do some of this," you say to Ava. "I just wish I could borrow some of your core strength."
"You'll get it with time, stay consistent. I'm holding you to it."
"Y/N," Shay calls out as she body rolls and raises her leg high. "What's this about you not knowing how to dance, mama?"
"Huh," I pause standing straight. She remembered. "Well I can dance. I can do the nae nae and the little tiktok dances, but this..," I gesture to the pole. "This is a different story. I guess I'm not the seductive type."
"Have you ever had sex?"
The question cuts and you feel all eyes glued on you. She must know that you and Erik have already.. on multiple occasions...
"....Of course."
"Then... you're the seductive type," she says simply. "Dance is a style of communication. It's about movement and seduction." She comes close and her finger gently snakes your collarbone as she circles you, standing directly behind, her slim hands on your waist.
"We really need to talk.. later," she whispers quietly in your ear. Her hips line up with yours, her center against your ass, and she winds. "If you can walk, you can dance, Y/N. If you can dance, the seduction is that much easier.." This time her words are addressed to the class. Her hips guide yours against the pole as she grinds against it through you. "Follow my rhythm."
You move exactly as you feel her move, in a groove, and after a few moments when you've perfected the body roll she backs up. When you do it on your own in the mirror, you have the S shape down pact.
"That's it, I'm coming back," you smile at the pole. At the end of class you're sore and tired but excited to have picked up some tricks. Meeting Shay's eye, you excuse yourself briefly from Ava and Tony with the excuse of asking about her paintings. "Shay," you whisper once you're close and she leads you out of the space.. far.. all the way outside before she looks around. There's no one standing out nearby, only well groomed trees and sidewalk with some grass and a parking lot.
"How have you been," is the first thing she asks as if she's truly concerned. Her eyes convey a lot.
"Why?.. I'm good," you stare echoing her strange expression. She's having a tough time saying what she wants to say.. she's pausing a lot, hesitating.
"Shay, what's wrong.. I get the feeling you want to tell me something but you're conflicted. I swear I won't run tell Erik.. whatever it is.."
"You're still with him," her brows rise in shock. "Okay so he was serious.. Did he ever mention.. anything about, um.. our last meeting together?"
"You guys had sex one last time, I know about it."
She takes a deep unsteady breath and instantly I know there's more to the story than what he said. She looks around again as if she's nervous.
"He didn't mention anything about.. himself?... As far as what he does...?"
"Hm? Well, yeah, he told me he does the video game thing. We just went to Texas-"
"That's-," she pauses with her mouth wide as if she's deeply confused. "Um.. you know what. Just... be careful okay? Take care of yourself."
"What?" Of all the random things to say. "What are you talking about? Wait," you grab her shoulder as she's walking off. "I feel like you're trying to tell me something about him and I wish you'd just spit it out.."
"Well look at you, definitely got bolder," her eyes flick up and down you. "Actually, it's nothing.. I just wanted to check on you.. make sure you were doing alright, that's all," she smiles, but it doesn't touch her eyes. "I'm going back inside to make sure no one has any further questions for me."
Letting her go, you watch her and something doesn't sit right. She wasn't telling you something and you don't know what that something is, but it's making your mind spin. Ava and Toni come out and walk toward you.
"She showed me one of the paintings in her car," you lie though you're not sure why, it just comes out and they accept it moving on. They have plans to get massages and you're invited there too. The three of you get the full body massage and it's relaxing after all that exercise. When you finally leave them and get to Erik's you OD on water, eat, shower, and watch TV upstairs until you pass out sleep.
The next day, they contact you on your lunch break and actually meet you for brunch, happy to see where you work. You have to apologize to Tanner for canceling lunch plans with him. He's so used to eating with you and vice versa. You've gotten used to looking into his pretty blue eyes. At least he gets to meet Toni and Ava briefly and they call him white chocolate which he eats up. You throw subliminals that maybe he and Toni should hook up but neither seem truly interested outside of surface good- natured flirting.
The following day after work is the beach. The three of you sunbathe while sharing stories about family and teen years. "This is the life," you jest laid back on your towel with your sunglasses on feeling warm and toasty. "I've been missing this. I need to meet more people to do things like this with, I get tired of sitting home alone."
"Aww. I don't wanna leave you here by yourself. I wish we didn't have to leave Cali or maybe you could come south with us," Toni says, but it's not realistic. They can afford to travel all the time but you have to work. When they do leave, you see them off.
-----
"I asked for chocolate," Erik grumbled laid out in his hospital bed six weeks into bed rest. They'd given him vanilla snack pack and he hated vanilla.
"Here you go," his nurse teased, used to his temper. "Stubborn ass.. I will personally bring you your chocolate pudding."
"Two.. and take this nasty one with you," he hudged it toward her. She laughed.
"Baby you can eat all the chocolate pudding you want when you up outta here. You finally got the go ahead as long as you stay the fuck off that damn leg.. Don't kiss your teeth, you've been doing everything short of p90x up in here."
"I wasn't on my leg though, those were upper body workouts.."
"You still need to relax."
"Hell yeah.. soon as I get my pudding.."
She shook her head, amused. Erik knew that once he left she'd think of him still. She was pretty nice though, so maybe he'd think of her too.. just maybe. He thought of telling her the truth before leaving... Perhaps he'd be there if she ever needed someone permanently removed from her life at a discounted rate..

Unexpected Places (Pt. 06 of 11)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ivar the Boneless X Reader/Bjorn X Reader
Word count: 2.8 K
Summary: As a princess, you've lived in a golden cage all your life, always a piece on someone else's game. But everything changed when the Norsemen came crushing down on Wessex, like waves in a violent storm. Their king spared your life and decided to take you with him to his kingdom, in what felt more like a rescue than a kidnapping. There, you were not only confronted with a completely different culture and lifestyle, but also with two of his sons. The oldest one has his eyes set on you, but it's the youngest one, Ivar, who gets who claimed your attention since the first sight. And he seems to have an unnamed interest in you. Of course you hoped whatever that was would pass, but when unexpected feelings start to flow a different way, things begin to change.

In the Blue
Ivar's room is twice the size of yours. You're blushing a little when you get inside, pacing around as he locks the door. “When I said we could get to know each other better, I wasn't expecting life to give a little push.” You mutter, letting yourself fall on a chair.
“We might as well take the chances life gives us then.” He snaps back with a smile. You do want to follow up his mood, but you can't stop thinking about the reason why you're here.
“Yeah.” It's everything you manage to say, starting to undo the braids on your hair.
“If you think you won't be safe here you're welcome to leave and find one of my brothers too–”
“That's not it, Ivar.” Deciding to cut him off before he goes on with whatever nonsense he has in mind, you raise your voice. Your fingers fail to deal with the braid on the back of your head, and the hair gets all tangled up. “Damn it!” You curse, giving up and sighing. “If I wanted to go with Bjorn, I would've, alright? Or Hvitserk, or Ubbe or whoever.” Bouncing your leg, you cup your hands together, nervously massaging your knuckles.
A few moments of silence follow before Ivar moves. You're about to ask what he's doing when he stops right behind you in the chair, and you feel his hands on your hair. “You learned fast.” He mutters, and you feel as more and more hair gets loose, cascading down your shoulders.
“Aslaug was a good teacher.”
“I still don't understand how you made my mother go from despising to caring about you in two days.” His clutch falls from where he had laid it, but you're quick to hold it before it hits the ground, pulling it to rest on your lap. “It's still a mystery to me.”
“She wanted to know about my life, and I was honest.“ Taking a deep breath, you smile when Ivar pushes all of your hair over your shoulders, signaling he's done. His fingers brush on the skin of the back of your neck, and by the way they linger a little too much, you wonder if it was an accident or not. “Everything I said that day, on the first feast, is true. I hated m life back then and now... Now I get to make my own decisions.” Getting up from the chair, you hand him his clutch. “That's why I chose not to stay with Bjorn.”
“Good.” He says, smiling as he moves to the bed. “Now you get to chose again. You can either sleep on the chair or here with me.” Ivar sits on the edge of the bed and starts to take the metal armor around his legs.
You do consider the chair, thinking that maybe you could wait for him to sleep and only then move to the bed. But he'd tease you just the same. And you'd be just sharing the bed, it's no big deal. You wouldn't mind if it was Hvitserk, but with Ivar... It makes you way too nervous. “I guess it's alright.” Slowly, you walk around the bed, watching as he gets rid of the metal before taking his shirt off. “Whoa. What are you doing?”
“Getting ready to sleep.” He explains as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
The last thing you want is to see Ivar shirtless. But still, you can't help but look. Your eyes travel through the tattoo on his back, but the muscles are what get your attention. He pulls his legs up, giving you a better sight of his arm and chest. But then he looks straight at you, and there's no way you can pretend you weren't staring. “The tattoo sucks.” You mutter, turning away from him and taking your jewelry off, putting them down on a small table near the bed.
“I thought girls liked it.”
“Well, I don't.” When everything is off, you loosen your dress a little before fixing the blankets on you.
“Well...” He mirrors your tone as you lie down, facing the ceiling. “You're not like other girls, are you?” Ivar does the same, flat on his back.
“Guess I'm not.” Taking a deep breath, your mind goes back to the feast. “Maybe that was why those men had eyes on me. I know I still look like an outsider most of the time.”
“They set eyes on you because you're pretty.”
“Pretty or pretty stupid?” You snap, turning your head to look at him.
“More pretty than stupid.” He shrugs his shoulders. “But since they don't know you as I do, they only get the pretty part.”
“You're such an idiot.” Elbowing him, you look at the ceiling again. But the jokes only make you remember the facts, and you can't help but feel disgusted and scared. “Those men were looking at me like I was naked. They were already... Imagining it.”
The unpleasant thought is suddenly pushed back when you feel Ivar's hand grabbing yours. It feels like tiny lightning bolts are crawling through your arm, and you immediately look at him again, turning the palm of your hand up, allowing his fingers to intertwine with yours.
“I meant what I said. Nobody will hurt you.” He's serious now, not even a hint of doubt on his voice. His grip tightens a little, and your smile.
“Thank you.”
“And I have this.” Letting go of your hand, he turns on his side, searching for something under the bed. You're about to ask what he's doing when Ivar pulls up an ax, laying it on his chest. “My baby ax. Small but deadly.”
Raising an eyebrow, you giggle. “Are you really going to sleep with this on the bed?”
“Yes, I will.” He simply says, fingers tightly around the ax. “Good night, princess.”
Ivar is impossible... He's something else entirely, and this makes your smile grow wider. “Good night, prince Ivar.” Turning away from him, you get comfortable, feeling truly safe next to him.
• • •
Loud knocks on the door make you wake up abruptly, grunting and pulling the blankets closer. After some seconds of silence, the noise comes back, and you decide to check what's going on. But you're about to move when you feel a weight being pulled away from you, the warmth that made you feel so comfortable vanishing. Staying very still, you feel the bed moving a little when Ivar gets out, and you notice he had an arm around you. Blushing, you bring a hand close to your mouth, biting your index finger out of nervousness. The door opens and you recognize Aslaug's voice. Slowly, you move, trying to pretend you're waking up.
“(Y/N). Wake up, c'mon.” Is Hvitserk who calls and you finally open your eyes again and push yourself up. “Rise and shine. We have good and bad news.”
“Bad news first.” Breathing deeply, you get up to your feet. Pacing around to where Aslaug is, seated on a chair beside Ivar. He's has a light shirt on, and you kinda wished he didn't.
“Those men were seen going to your room yesterday. They kicked the door open but left when they didn't find you there.” The Queen answers, and you bring a hand to your heart. They were right, they would've hurt you. “But they were made an example of.” She continues.
“What do you mean?” You ask in a low voice.
She exchanges a look with Ivar, who smiles. It looks like he already got what she meant. “The balls, the hands, the tongue.” Aslaug shrugs her shoulders, not really bothered by it. “I was willing to let them go, but after I was told they did go to your room, I changed my mind. The three of them died quickly from blood loss and their bodies can be seen on the square. The others were allowed to leave.”
“Good,” Ivar adds, cupping his hands together. “I'd like to have done it myself, but I'll be fine just seeing the bodies.” He then looks at you. “Would you like to join me?”
“No, I... I don't wanna see naked dead bodies, thank you very much.” Muttering, you run a hand through your hair.
“Well, the threat has passed.” Aslaug stands up, gesturing for you to follow her. “Let's get you into a warm bath to help you relax and then you get to do whatever you want to.”
“Alright.” Giving a little wave to Ivar, you glance at Hvitserk, meaning you need to talk. Urgently. And you really hope he gets it.
Aslaug makes sure you do relax after last night's happening. But you feel fine, knowing they won't be around to hurt you anymore. It's a weird feeling though, knowing they're dead because of you. But then again, they were rapists, so you can't feel sorry for them. You're sure a lot of girls, wherever they were going next, will be safe now.
After bathing and having a meal with Aslaug and Ragnar, you're free to go. Ragnar told you your door has already been fixed, so you go to your room just to check if there's anything you need to fix. But everything is perfectly fine, and you know Aslaug probably took care of it. So you start looking for Hvitserk. The idiot is nowhere to be found, and you know he didn't understand your signal. You're almost giving up, leaving the main hall when you see him coming inside with Ubbe.
“Finally. I thought you died on me.” You exclaim, throwing your hands in the air. “Hi, Ubbe. Can I speak to your brother?”
“Sure. We're already done anyway.” He nods at you and leaves.
You wait until he disappears before turning to face Hvitserk. “What do you–”
“Ivar had an arm around me.” You burst out, grabbing his arm and pulling him to one of the tables on the corner. When you sit down, you take a deep breath. “I woke up, and I felt when he removed it so I'm very, very sure.”
Hvitserk stares at you for long seconds before shrugging his shoulders. “Is there some question you need me to answer?”
“How can you be so clueless?” Whisper-yelling, you take a quick look around, just to make sure you're alone. “I need you to tell me... I need to know if...” There's no question. There's not even a hint of what exactly you need to know. “Shit.”
“Look, it's crystal clear you like Ivar.”
“I never said that.” You're quick to dissimulate, nervously giggling. “I have no idea what you're talking about.”
“Oh, please.” Rolling his eyes, Hvitserk laughs. “When Bjorn said you should stay with him, you basically vomited the words, saying you would rather be with Ivar.”
“Yeah. Ivar or you.” Reminding him, you point at his face. “So you can't use that incident as proof.”
“But you only mentioned me after long seconds of silence. And so low I barely heard it.”
“Hvitserk, I–”
“You don't have to hide it from me. We're friends, right? Everything I'll do is advice and try to help if I can.” Cutting you off, he cups his hands over the table. “I can talk to him if you want. Try to understand if he has any kind of feelings, but I don't think that's the type of thing he'd share with me. Or with anyone.”
“I know.” Looking down at your hands, you remember the things he said yesterday. Ivar has some self-esteem problems, and you know why. You never thought the legs bothered him so much, they surely don't bother you. “I don't mind if he's crippled you know... It's not a problem for me.”
“You should tell him that.”
“I will.” With a small smile, you raise your eyes to look at your friend. “I will.” You're still speaking when you hear voices coming from inside. “Someone's arguing.”
“It's my father. But I don't really stick my nose in his fights. He usually makes peace before I'm willing to.” He says and gets up. “I gotta help Ubbe. We weren't done, he was just being nice.”
“Go. I'll try to find Helga. She wants to go to buy something.”
“See you around.”
“Bye.” You mutter, drumming your fingers at the take as Hvitserk leaves. You're about to go and find Helga when the voices get louder. And you're pretty sure you heard your name. Pushing the chair away, you slowly follow the sound, careful not to make your presence known.
“...She's a princess. I thought you brought her here because of the prophecy.” An annoyed Bjorn hisses, and you hide behind the wall, holding your breath. “Now Ivar is all over her and I don't see you doing anything.”
“I wasn't thinking about the prophecy. I promised her father I'd let her go, that's why I spared her life.” Covering your heart with one hand, you furrow your eyebrows, trying to process what Ragnar just said. Why would your father want you to be kept alive? What kind of plan he had? And why would Ragnar keep the promise? “And I thought she'd have better chances here and if she didn't, I'd send her back or whatever, I wasn't thinking about what the Seer said.”
“But he did say it, didn't he? That I'm to marry a princess.”
Then that's it. That's why Bjorn approached you in the first place. He didn't like you or anything, he only did that because of some stupid prophecy.
“Look, you want the girl, go and make the girl fall in love with you. If she doesn't, that's a shame, but you're a grown man, so quit whining about it.”
“Then what? You'll let Ivar steal her from me?”
Steal? Who he thinks he is? Biting your lip, you don't even hear Ragnar's reply, anger building up. You can't just let it go, you can't let him think that. So, taking a deep breath, you step out of your hiding place, letting yourself be seen.
“Stop talking about me as if I'm a thing.” Raising your voice, you have a finger pointed at Bjorn. “I just got out of a forced marriage, and I won't marry you just because someone said something.” Ragnar steps away, clearly with no intention of intervening.
“I never–”
“I'm a free woman, haven't you heard?” You decide to remind him. “I'm free to love whoever I want, I surely don't love you!” Giving his chest a push, you storm out, finding the closest door that leads outside and walking through.
That's exactly what happened before. People made plans for you, for your future, without even consulting you. They didn't even ask, they just expected you to do as you're told. You won't have it anymore. Not here, not anywhere, from anyone.
You're walking fast, not sure where. You just need to get away from Bjorn and his stupidity. The woods soon surround you, and you climb some rocks and slopes, tears of anger blurring your sight.
All your life you've been pushed into things. The only thing you were allowed to do, that you really enjoyed, was learning about the Vikings. But just because your father admired them. All the rest, you were forced to do. You remember is clearly, the day Ecbert said he'd have you dragged down the aisle, in chains if that's what it took, to marry you to that disgusting Edward. You cried that night, made plans to run away, plans you knew would never work. Everything was lost until the Norsemen arrived. They turned everything upside down, and you have no idea how it became something good for you. A chance you never thought you'd have, a chance you won't let anyone ruin.
You stop suddenly, a crack filling your ears. Looking around, you notice you left the woods some feet behind. You're standing on ice, and the white coverage goes on for many miles ahead. Cursing yourself for not paying attention to where you were going, you turn around to go back to land, but another crack, louder this time, makes you freeze.
“(Y/N)!” Someone calls, the voice being dragged by the wind.
“Over he–” The ice suddenly opens, swallowing you in half a second. The cold water, too cold, makes you yell, losing most of the air left in your lungs. You feel like the cold creeps under your skin, freezing you, turning your members into ice. You can't move, as the blue surrounds you. There's nothing else in the world, and you wonder if this is where you'll spend eternity. Down here, turning into ice, in the blue. At least, it's silent, peaceful. So you close your eyes, letting the cold take over. You were ready for death when you met Ragnar. You might as well be ready now.

Hi, I loved your reactions and writings. Can I ask a Twice's reaction where the reader(gender neutral if possible) goes to Erasmus in Europe for six months? Thank you <3
I'm glad you love my reactions and writing, I've tried to make It as gener neutral as possible for you.

Tumblr media
Nayeon
You had told her many times before that you were going to leave for some time in order to pursue your promise to your father, who didn't believe in you, and go to Europe.
And everytime she gets uncomfortable with the thought of being alone for possible months on end, making it even worse when the time had arrived.
With shaking hands and a jittery jaw she had bid her farewell, knowing exactly how long that goodbye will be placed in between you two is what made ot ten times more agonising.
"IT'S BEEN THREE YEARSSSS!!" Nayeon yells, slumping back in the chair she's sat on.
"Nayeon… it's been five hours" Chaeyoung says in a confused manner, not understanding what the fuss is about.
"That's easy for you to say, you're not the one in a relationship" chaeyoung rolls her eyes at the older member.
"Why don't you just call them?"
"I can't do that, they're probably asleep on the plane" Nayeon sighs out.
"And?"
"And? And they could become sleep deprived because of me, I'm not doing that to my precious y/n"
"You're one sad and helpless grandma" Chaeyoung stands and walks away, cringing at how love struck her unnie really is.
Tumblr media
Jeongyeon
You were there for her when she gets enraged to calm her down and so not having you there when she was in these icky situations was ridiculous, to her at least.
The whole situation with you going to erasmus wasn't something she thought would be so much of a trouble. Now it seems kinda futile that you're there and not with her.
She wishes she had stopped you, but that would've been selfish, and that's the reason she had let you go in the first place, even if she didn't agree with this situation 100%
"What do you mean?" Jeongyeon grips onto the table as she listens to JYPs words.
"Unfortunately, your promotions this month aren't as good as they were last month, we lost money" he sighs as Jeongyeon bites her inner cheek to stop herself from going any further.
"A-alright, thank you PD-nim" Nayeon bows to the older name at the tip of the meeting table. She then proceeds to watch as JYP leaves the room to go check on the trainees.
The room is eerily silent, as much as Jeongyeon would like to explode and just yell at the top of her lungs, she knows that's not wise. She knows that from you, you taught her not to do that.
The fact that you're running through her mind during a serious moment such as this confuses her but also comforts her in a way. She just can't wait for you to get back already, it's been too long since she's held you and you've cared for her.
Tumblr media
Momo
Her food buddy is leaving her? Who would eat with her now? Even if she'd have lonely nights eating alone, she'd know that you'd be shipping food and your love over from Europe anyways.
That's probably the only thing that keeps her going whilst you're away, the packages you send her, all wrapped up carefully with a small letter inside with comforting words.
Obviously your relationship isn't based off of food and that's why even the simplest of messages make her heart race faster than a race car (not literally)
"FOOOOOOOOD" momo runs downstairs to Jihyo, the female who had just summoned her from her deep slumber all because of the word packages and y/n slipped out her mouth all a little too loudly.
"Woah, woah woah" Jihyo stands in front of the two medium sized boxes, guarding them with her life as she attempts to stop the hungry raccoon.
"But they're mine" she joyfully grins, knowing that Jihyo can't actually stop her from getting what's rightfully hers.
"Calm down first" the younger warns but cautiously steps aside, allowing Momo's eyeballs to rest upon the boxes with gleaming eyes.
"Geez, maybe y/n going to erasmus wasn't such a good thing" jeongyeon mumbles, watching as the food thief hurriedly opens her gifts without a single care in the world.
Tumblr media
Sana
No more cuddles for quite some time. Sana would be supportive but also confused without you. With sana being the confused squirrel she is, she'd probably be on the phone to you 25/8, asking for your help on some random question she can't seem to understand.
Yes, she'd be calling you during these important moments. It's not like she does it on purpose, she just forgets…
"It's confusing me~" sana whines down the phone, still not understanding anything.
"Why did you even listen to Dahyun?" You groan, sliding your phone across the bed in frustration
"Why. Is. A. Bridge. Called. A. Bridge." Sana pauses in-between each word, adding an emphasis on the words why and Bridge.
"I don't know, and I don't care anymore" you cry out, digging your head into your arms to obscure your vision, concealing your eyes from the light that's still on in your hotel room.
"Sana, I'm tired. Can we talk about this tomorrow" you mumble loud enough of the girl to hear.
She lets out a sigh but kisses the camera "goodnight baby, sleep well" she gives you a lonely smile before hanging up.
Tumblr media
Jihyo
You leaving to go to erasmus was quite some news to jihyo, considering she knows about basically everything and plans ahead of it.
That's why finding a text message from you at four in the morning saying you've left to catch a plane had caught her off guard.
Nonetheless, she let it slip this one time, knowing how important this opportunity was to you.
"I'd at least like a warning before you go" jihyo mumbles beneath her breath as she texts you.
'I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I just got a call and it said to leave immediately' your message reads.
'It's alright' Jihyo responds.
'No, no it's not. Whenever I get a chance to come back to South Korea, expect loads of dates and gifts' you added a little huffing emoji after 😤
'You don't have to do that y/n'
'Who said anything about having to do it? I simply just want to do it. It will be on my mind until I return home to you"
Jihyo cracks a small smile. At least she knows your relationship is strong enough to keep you thinking about her.
Tumblr media
Mina
With Mina being quiet and self opinionated, she had told you that everything was alright and that she'd be perfectly fine with you gone for some time, she does it to you all the time so what's the problem if you do it to her for once?
Well the problems were larger than she thought, her anxiety seriously began to grow again, increasing each day as she now has no one to comfort her as you're always too busy studying or sleeping. She wouldn't dare interfere with your occupation, especially since she knows how much you've waited for this day to come.
"Oh no mina, don't cry" you smile innocently at your girlfriend, taking her into your arms as you rub her back in a comforting way.
"I-I'm just going to mis-s you" she hiccups mid sentence, holding onto you.
"I'll be back soon, it won't take long" you smile, only for six months
"I hope so"  you pull back and give her a quick peck on the lips, this being the third kiss you've ever shared together since you've started dating.
"I'll be watching your performances, do me proud my penguin" she lightly giggles nodding her head
"Will do y/n" her gummy smile is on display as you walk away with your suitcases rattling on the flood just behind you.
And that's where she stood until Jihyo had to come inside and take her home.
Tumblr media
Dahyun
Your decision is just as important to her as it is to you, and that's why she agreed within a heartbeat, not thinking about the consequences that could follow.
Boredom is the consequence, she had no clue things could be so boring without you there to help her plot those evil schemes against the older and younger members.
"It's so boring without you here" Dahyun rambles on, whining about how lonely she is right now. Weirdest part is, she's actually using her inside voice for once.
"Haha, I'm sorry dubu" your voice comes through her phone's speakers and it's like heaven to her.
"You better be" she huffs "you're on the other side of the world" she mumbles, scratching her neck.
"And yet you're still right here in my heart"  she laughs at your words,"as i should be"
"As you should be huh?"
"Mhm, and you should be here with me!" She gives you her famous smile, the one that you've loved since you've met her.
"Wow, how charming"
Tumblr media
Chaeyoung
Even with you gone, she still hugs your hoodies and wears your shirts like it's a normal day with you here. The scent of you calms her down after a stressful day and the thought of you soothes her troubles.
The fact that you've gone on and moved to Europe for six months saddens her but wouldn't everyone feel that way if their partner did the same?
At last yours is for a good reason, being about to participate in erasmus wasn't a common opportunity, she's learnt that from experience, being an idol and all.
"When are you coming back?" Chaeyoung's sweet Berry voice fills your headphones as you walk down the snow filled streets.
"Not sure just yet my little cub" you smile to yourself, a name everyone uses and yet they have little to no understanding on what it actually means to you two.
"Aw, alright. Promise you'll be home for Christmas" you can hear her pout.
"I shall promise to be home by Christmas, wouldn't want to miss our second Christmas together" you chuckle, entering a building.
"Hey, I'm inside a building, the signal may cut off" you warn but Chaeyoung dismisses your words and continues to talk.
Tumblr media
Tzuyu
Since you were practically the only one who made her smile 24/7, it seemed weird seeing the old her. The side of her everyone thought was cold and some thought of as untrustworthy.
Tzuyu was more reserved, feeling like she was vulnerable to the world once again
"How's Tzuyu?" you ask Chaeyoung, waiting for a response patiently
"Like her normal self" Chaeyoung laughs a short lived laugh.
"I saw her on TV, she didn't look too happy" chae nods her head. You hum in return as you think. "Where's your next stop on tour?"
Chae pauses to think, her mouth opening slightly as she's about to speak "we're going to London next, our first time going" chae practically squeals.
"Great! I'll meet you guys there, but uh, don't tell Tzuyu, it's a surprise" chae nods with a new Mission set in place in her 'innocent' mind.
"Obviously I wouldn't do that" chae giggles nervously.
Please give feedback if you'd like ♡
- I wasn't sure on this one so I had rewritten it twice :/

Top five pieces of clothing and Top five random moments with strangers ❤️❤️
Oh gosh this took me so much time to answer I don’t think answers were supposed to be this long x)
But those questions were so exciting so I let myself get carried away. Thanks for asking! And I hope this is what you meant by the questions.
Top five pieces of clothing!
My ripped 501. My stepmother gave it to me when I was in high school because she didn't wear it anymore, too small and holes around the ankles. She got it when she was in high school herself so it should be just a bit older than me, maybe 25 years old? It was my first good pair of jeans even though they were already a bit worn out. Time (and maybe not-so-legal high-school shenanigans) tore holes at the knees that now go seamline to seamline, below the back pockets and at the crotch. I wear them with boxers because you can see the bottom of my butt when I bend down and my crotch when I sit cross-legged, don't know how long they'll last but I won't stop wearing them until they're just tired threads. Plus, in 2018 I found a jean jacket (1€) that perfectly matches them and cropped it so it looks like an ensemble.
My control birefs+bralette Impromptu ensemble. It was my mom's and when I stumbled upon it (yes I go through her clothes a lot) she told me she didn't wear it anymore, hadn't in at least a decade. Considering she didn't wear bras before maternity, the size and the fact she started wearing different types of bras when she started working again, I'll date it around 1997/1998 or 2001-2003 (couldn't find out much about the brand but I did find a brand with that name that was in business between 2002 and 2012, so, maybe this one?). So now I wear it. And I do my best to make it visible.
My pink slip dress. I found it in the trash and yes, it is a bit worn out. I can't know for sure but between the style, other pieces of undergarment and a top I found with it (all together), I get very strong 80s vibes from it? It's definitely not 21st century, and also definitely post 1950's, at first it made me thing of the 60s but it seems a bit too short (it is very short on me but it's a size too small), so... Also, yes, I wear it as an actual dress as much as I wear it as an underdress. Make sure to have nice underwear because it is quite see-through.
My loose knit long sleeved top. It was my mother's, and she stopped wearing it because it got torn and the hole is impossible to miss. It's see-through so I get to show off cool underwear with it.
My little black dress. The item in this list I spent the most money on, which was 3€, and also the most recent, it's probably 2010s. It's a simple textured strap very very minidress, tight and form fitting. It's a bit plain on its own but it is the easiest thing to style, for any season, I got it in a thrift store in 2019, I think?
Top 5 random moments with strangers
Okay, the award goes to this one train ride. It’s a trainline that goes from the big city to the smaller cities in the region, so there’s several trains every hour and some people take it every day, but it’s still less frequented than subways, streetcars or even other trainlines (like RER, don’t know of equivalents outside of France), and it has its own rules. Before the prefecture decided it was a major problem to be solved, the last car on this train was unofficially the smoking car. It is common knowledge and I have rarely seen people stumbling accidentally upon this car (twice exactly) and being taken aback by the pot. So it’s a loud, chill and convivial car (well used to be), we borrow lighters, or tobacco, and if I just wanna smoke my cigarette and listen to my music I know no one will bother me. This one day we stopped. For a long moment. With no explanation. And I mean, like... five minutes into the ride. We barely had left the station. So people started chatting, mingling even more, borrowing phones to call and say they’d be late, asking if anyone had news or making up theories. Normally, the motto is: in the winter, the tracks are frozen, in the spring, animals are barring the road, in the summer, it’s too hot, in the autumn, there are leaves on the tracks, but this normally happens further into the countryside, not there. The girl across from me was an art student, the others didn’t mention, but when we got the news. Someone was riding the train. Not inside. Nope, some guy had almost missed the train and had decided he lived in a movie, and so he jumped on the train and held hard and had held on for a good five minutes before he was spotted. He was fine, by the way. But the collective laughter. Most calls after that were on speakers, and we’d observe a silence when another passenger announced “The train is late, someone jumped on the train” and we’d laugh at any reaction. I miss the smoking car.
A few months back I hit a bit of a rough patch and so I screwed around and spent money I didn’t have, so, yikes. On my way home from school there were people skip diving and I was hungry, and I knew I didn’t have food home, and there was so much. But I am middle-class, like, I know if I asked to borrow money from my mom or friends it would be okay, I even had emergency savings I could unlock (but for some reason food didn’t feel like an emergency???), and I knew that the people that were skip diving needed this far more than me, so I stood there, looking at the vegetables with envy and thinking I’d stick around and help keeping the skip up, open and leaning, and if there was anything left I’d take that. Some woman asked if I wanted anything and I froze in place, and just shook my head. I couldn’t speak and barely muttered anything but this one guy saved a bundle of leek for me, tried to give me other things but I knew I just had to get through one week so it was enough. After that a lady in a bakery came to give us bread that they would have thrown out, and I accepted one, and damn, she was heaven-sent. Everyone was so bloody respectful and mindful of everybody else. I got through this week delightfully, and can never thank them enough for that.
Okay, a shorter one. Nothing really happened that time. Just. I was on the subway, and I saw someone sit next to me. Looked up by reflex and they looked up at the same time and our eyes met. And their eyes were a bit wide so I was wondering if something was going on, if someone was scaring them. We didn’t exchange a word but I observed them a bit, they were looking around, and then back to me. And I don’t know what this meant but it sure as hell meant something. We stared at each other like we were trying to remember when we met before. Then something made them jolt and they got up, but on their way they looked back at me, it was weirdly intense. We shared another two looks before they got off the car, I have no idea what happened, but it happened.
One night I was walking home around maybe 4AM, I had gotten bothered/whistled at a bit too much and was in a mood. Dressed in all black leather, face tight. And I spot a guy and a girl from the distance. They’re drunk, especially the girl, and they are half making-out but she doesn’t look like she can stand straight without leaning on him or the wall. She’s laughing but still shady. They’re on my way so I keep walking, observing a bit and pausing my music so I can hear what they are saying. Nothing alarming, but I must have looked quite pissed still because the moment the guy spots me he steps away from the girl, holds his hands up and says “everything is alright”. He looked scared it was the funniest thing. I didn’t answer him and just looked at the girl, made eye-contact, and asked if she was okay. She looked drunk but like she was thinking straight and when she assured me she was fine I lingered just a second to make sure then nodded to her and to him too and walked away. This is one of my funniest memories.
On the day after Valentine’s day, I found a white rose in the trash. I took it and put it in my hair. One guy spotted me. We made finger guns at each other. Short, delightful, satisfying interaction.

Detective / DJ with Captain Canary?
While West handles the questioning of the bartender Leonard lets his gaze wander. The Waverider is a hole in the wall, and while it's had it's share of police visits over the years, this is the first time the homicide unit has had to come down in quite some time.
He remembers coming here about a decade or so back, once or twice. He prefers the less populous Saints and Sinners, but that doesn't mean there weren't a few nights he ended up here back.
The place hasn't changed much, in fact the only change aside from ownership is the lack of change. The brick walls are still brown with age and carry the stains of spilled drinks. The dark wood of the bar is chipping, it's protective shellac peeling away. In the corner is still the cramped little DJ booth where Darren used to subject everyone to his "music". Ugh, he can still feel his ear threatening to bleed.
All of a sudden something seems to pop up just at the lip of the booth, on the inside. He glances back at his partner; she's deep in conversation with the bartender, they might be here awhile. He approaches the booth, rounding to the right side where one would step in.
What he saw was the top of a head.
There's a woman crouched underneath the counter, about his sister's age and with a nice set of headphones resting around her neck and pinning her blonde hair to her shoulders. She has a thumb drive between her fingers, and is scowling at it like it's offended her.
"I never understood why DJ's wear those." He says as he makes his approach, though he's certain she heard him coming from the first step. Nevertheless she glances up at his, and he gestures to her headphones.
"For mixing." She answers, standing up. "So I can make and edit playlists without annoying the ever-living crap out of everyone else. Two songs playing at once doesn't always make for a fun party."
He raises one eyebrow at that. He hadn't been expecting a logical answer, if she bothered to give him an answer at all.
"That must take focus." He observes, "I don't know if you were here last night, but if you were, I take it you would've been a little preoccupied to notice anything out of the ordinary."
She seems to size him up, her thumb drive now clutched firmly in her hand, a problem for later.
"It's called multi-tasking." She hums, her face stoic. With that she reaches up and puts her headphones properly over her ears, only to then adjust the left so that it's behind her ear like he's seen in so many movies, and then she taps her right ear still covered by the headphone.
"Edits." She says, then a tap for her left ear. "Crowd. I need to know what they're responding too, which is also what my eyes are for."
There are people Leonard has met throughout his life and career who could probably tell him this, and he would call bullshit. But from this woman he believes it. She has this look in her eye, like is just waiting to tell him what she saw last night while observing the crowd. But she'll only tell if he asks, nicely.
He holds out a hand.
"Detective Snart."
She smirks, and accepts the hand. "Sara Lance."
Leonard is nothing if not a man in excellent control of his movements at all times, particularly in response to new information. But Sara Lance. Of course, he should have known. The Captain's younger daughter. He's heard of her, but just in passing conversation between Quentin and Laurel. The gene for law enforcement skipped her. Wild child in high school, college dropout, worked a slew of different jobs for the past ten years.
That's what he's gathered from all the stories, but she knows exactly how this works and what kind of a clock they're working on. If she didn't have anything to offer, she would've told him already.
"See anything interesting in the crowd last night?"
She shrugs, glancing around the empty bar, like she's seeing last night's party all over again.
"Saw a woman pull her top up, and hold it there." He furrows his brow, but she moves on. "Long line for the ladies room, poor kid spill his drink all over himself."
"Anything relevant to the guy in your alleyway?" He asks, and the look she cuts him is a warning not to interrupt her.
Message received.
She turns her head over to the very far wall, just off the right of the bar.
"He hung back there all night. Never talked to anyone for more than a few seconds." Her eyes travel over to the front door, "Until his girlfriend came in."

Writing Exercise 2 // AssClass x Tower of God AU - Reunion
Writing Exercise // AC x Tog AU - Catching up
Tumblr media
Summary: In their 10 years of climbing the Tower together nonstop, Team END should have known by now that anything could happen so suddenly.
However, a reunion with an old teammate was certainly not what most of them have in mind.
Word count: 2.3k words
• ▪ • ▪ •
Nakamura was exhausted.
Well actually, all of them are. But yeah, she's exhausted.
Team END had recently just cleared the final floor test that allowed them to arrive at the 30th Floor, which was basically a more brutal take of the Capture the Flag game, that lasted them over 8 hours to finish.
Injuries barely treated, bodies aching, sleep lacking, and stomachs starting to rumble, the last thing they'd want to happen was to encounter another trouble the moment they had been transported to the next floor.
"Oi Nakamura, are you sure we should be heading this way..?" Okajima barely squeaked out, frozen at his own spot as he fearfully stared at the sight before them.
"That's what it says on my lighthouse!" She hissed quietly, glaring at the glowing blue cube floating beside her.
Chiba should have been more specific about where his goddamn house is located in this floor.
He had told her before that he has his own residence here at the 30th Floor, somewhere beyond this swamp-like forest thingy, which he had given Team END the permission to reside in for the next 20 Floors until they become C-Rank Regulars.
Yet he never said anything about dealing with dangerous creatures along the way.
Nakamura had discreetly messaged him through her Pocket minutes ago, which he had replied to not long after.
"Wait, I just got off from work. I'll be right there." - Ryuunosuke
It had been 15 minutes since then.
Nakamura is surely going to give him a good slap the moment she sees the Spear Bearer. Well, if she can still recognize him, that is, since the dude had that annoying black cloak nearly hiding his entire body when she first bumped into him at a marketplace at the 21st Floor three years ago.
So here they all are, standing frozen before a sort of gigantic forest creature (who looks hungry, by the way), too exhausted and injured to put up a fight, let alone save themselves.
A Green Mulso, Kurahashi had informed them, is a shinheuh that resembles a gigantic Water Buffalo meant to guard certain areas in a swamp forest from outsiders. There are two types of Mulso, a green one and a brown one. The brown ones are much smaller and friendlier apparently.
Kurahashi then oh-so helpfully told the team that Green Mulsos are wild, incredibly sturdy, and cannot be tamed at all, even by the most talented Anima.
So in short, unless they still got enough stamina to spare, they're doomed.
I swear to god, Ryuunosuke. If I die here right now in the most pathetic way I will fucking haunt you for eternity-
A flash of bright blue from a distance had cut off Nakamura's thoughts, her eyes widening as she watched the water-like shinsu pierce through the wild beast before them at a frightening speed, killing it instantly.
A chorus of surprised yelps were let out at the sight, some where even full-out screams.
Everyone then instinctively moved away when the now dead green mulso had fallen to the ground, it's large size causing it to shake for a moment.
"Oh my god what was that..." Maehara breathed out, his hand clutching over his chest.
Some of them tentatively stared at the dead giant creature before them, some where eve cautiously approaching it to see the wound, while others chose to avoid looking at it.
Nakamura just stayed at her spot, the gears in her brain already working to find answers. A blast of water-like shinsu was what killed the creature, which could have been done by a Wave Controller from just the shinsu's form itself alone. Yet the blast itself looked too thin compared to what Nakamura usually saw what Wave Controllers do.
Not to mention it looked like it had come from a very long distance, which is a range that not even Rankers could reach, as once clarified by Koro-sensei when they were still at the 2nd Floor. A range like that is something only Spear Bearers could do.
Nakamura then frowned at the thought.
But are there even any Spear Bearers who use water-like shinsu to shoot? She knows about Lightning and Ice users who make their own spears, there have been plenty of Regulars and Rankers who were known for that after all, but a Water user Spear Bearer is unheard of.
This would be the first time she sees one if she was correct.
"Woah I got here just in time, thank goodness..." A familiar voice spoke out at a fair distance.
Nakamura's eyes then roamed around the tall trees surrounding them, assuming the guy was somewhere perched up at one of them, based from where she could hear his voice coming from. "Well, you sure took your sweet time to get here," she huffed.
A wave of murmurs and whispers gradually built up and Nakamura could make out some of them wondering how she seemed to know the voice that was talking just now.
"The town was especially busy today and I can't just jump between rooftops, you know that..." He sighed out. "On another note, I didn't think you guys would actually go to this part of the forest. This place is inhabited by Green Mulsos after all, you know how wild those things are."
"And yet it only took you a single shot to kill one," Nakamura raised an eyebrow, her eyes darting everywhere, still trying to look for him.
"I live around here. You just get used to them."
A flash of light and suddenly an overwhelming pair of bright maroon eyes were right in front of her, along with a wide smile gracing the face those eyes belonged to.
Nakamura hesitantly took a step back, giving the tall figure that had appeared before her a once over. Sharp maroon eyes, tall nose, plump lips, strong eyebrows, and long dark hair pulled up in a high ponytail with fringes widely parted at the middle ー a pretty one yet there's a tinge of manliness to it with that long brown coat over a white polo and black pants combo.
How handsome.
Nakamura then narrowed her gaze. Something about this person is ridiculously familiar to her but she couldn't recall anyone with this appearance or at least close to having it.
Hey wait a minute. Nakamura frowned even further. If that was Chiba who I was talking to just now and this person showed up then-
The person's smile dropped then raised an eyebrow at her instead. "What's with that look?"
A scream ripped itself from Nakamura's throat.
• ▪ • ▪ •
"Wow you changed a lot!"
"You think I'd still look the same after 10 years?" Chiba incredulously asked.
30 seconds of dodging mild embarrassment and composure regaining, Nakamura then revealed to the rest of the team that the person who had appeared before them was Chiba, their former teammate who had been seperated from them 22 Floors below.
After that sudden reunion, but not without a strong slap on the shoulder by Nakamura, Chiba soon led the whole team towards the place he is residing in, which was beyond the forest. The route they are currently taking was much farther away from where they were at previously and less closed off.
There were less trees around them and the pathway is much clearer and if they look even further ahead, they can see a wide clearing at a distance.
The walk was fairly quiet, as the whole team was too exhausted from the previous Floor Test to even make enough noise. Some even start to doze off and are just being carried by lighthouses instead of walking, and some of the Light Bearers in the team had just went inside their respective lighthouses.
Kurahashi in particular was fast asleep on Cattus' back, a cat-like cactus creature she had befriended back then, currently in its giant form as it cutely marched beside Chiba and Nakamura, who were walking ahead of everyone.
"Water spears are definitely the last thing I thought you'd use," Nakamura remarked. Unlike the majority of them, she still has enough energy to engage in a conversation. "I was kinda expecting you to wield a sniper rifle or something."
Chiba let out mellowed chuckles. "I actually do own one. But I only use it for specific types of Floor tests," he professed.
"Oh really?" Nakamura blinked at him im wonder. "Where'd you get it?"
"Ah I won it at the Workshop Battle I participated in 4 years ago."
Nakamura nearly faltered at the name almost bitterly but then quickly recovered. "I see," she forced a cheeky grin. "Probably gave them hell, huh?"
"That was Miki," Chiba rolled his eyes though his smile never left his place. "Anyways, water spears. I've always known how to make them but I've only started to utilize them even more around the time I came to the 12th Floor."
Nakamura hummed in response. "So like... 8 or 9 years ago..?"
"Nine years ago," he confirmed. "Enough time for me to solidify its reliability in battle and learn more ways to utilize it."
"I believe this is the first time I've heard of a Spear Bearer who uses Water shinsu to make their own spears," a golden-litted lighthouse suddenly flew in front of the two. "I apologize for abruptly joining in but I am personally intrigued by this discussion, if you don't mind, Chiba-kun."
"Oh Asano-kun," Chiba's smile widened. "You'd be surprised to know that I'm actually not the only one who does this."
"Is that so?"
"But you're still right," Chiba slightly moved away from Nakamura and faced the two of them, bringing his right arm out.
A small bang of water-like shinsu started forming on his palm then suddenly sprouted into a very long shaft that is twice the height of Chiba himself less than a second after. Its blade forming into a drill-shaped head with small flows of water spiralling around the shaft almost prettily.
With a proud smile, Chiba momentarily spun the newly formed spear around. "I'm the only Spear Bearer in the family who had managed to make it sturdy enough to be a main weapon of choice."
He doesn't need to elaborate for both Nakamura and Asano to know what he meant by 'family'.
Ryuunosuke is from the Great Family of Chiba, whose Head was one of the Great Warriors who had first climbed towards the top of the Tower along with the King himself. Anyone tied with the Chiba bloodline is automatically a Water User by default, unless they chose not to use the water-manifested shinsu, as the heritage is that strong.
Chiba himself is not a direct descendant of the Head, making him one of the less important members as the Family Tree is ridiculously huge that a random Regular could actually meet at least 2 Chiba members in each Floor.
But from what he implied just now, his unique standing as a Spear Bearer might just make him stand out in the vast sea mostly full of Wave Controllers.
"I would be lying if I said I wasn't intentionally trying to get my name out there in order to be respected in the family as my own person and not be seen as 'just another Chiba'," he admitted with a determined look. "After all, I was born thousands of years after my greatest grandmother had become one of the Great Family Leaders in the Tower."
He then grinned almost challengingly. "But hearing what both of you said just now is just making me want to work even harder."
Nakamura smirked anticipatingly, trying to bury down the nervousness that had shot throughout her body. That frightening display just earlier and yet he's saying such things like this right now... damn he's grown out of our league...
A seemingly amused chuckle had suddenly come out out the golden lighthouse floating beside them. "It's almost admirable to see how very self-assured you are despite the strong clutches of your influencial family name. I can respect that."
Equally amused, Chiba had vanished the water sphere and turned to the giant glowing golden cube. "Well I suppose my conviction is new for someone who is the only descendant of the Great Lord Asano," he remarked.
"But enough about me, I want to hear your story." He gestured a hand towards him (or the cube) and grinned further. "How did the only child of the strongest Light Bearer in the Tower end up travelling with an old team of mine after that initial claim he had of taking no absolute interest in them?"
Nakamura, who had just been attentively listening to them the whole time, suddenly let out an evil cackle. "Oh man do I have the perfect story to share..."
"No! Her so-called 'perfect story' is nothing but exaggerated lies! Do not listen to her!"
"What exaggerated lies?" Nakamura laughed out loud, her grin even wider. "I literally got a lot of proof saved inside my lighthouse!"
She then gasped dramatically. "Maybe I should just send them to him!"
"Don't you dare!" Asano warned.
Chiba just owlishly blinked at the incredulous sight of Nakamura and a floating golden cube bickering. He was sure it wasn't that long ago when Nakamura had told him about Asano and Sakakibara temporarily joining Team END for a while. Yet the display before him made it seem like their newly formed alliance wasn't that recent at all.
Yeah, there's a lot of catching up for me to do alright...

I wanted to make a joke abt time au with original Dib getting thrown into the future but it stopped at cobbling together Dib seeing Zim with his back to him in the store "ZIM!!!" And Aip retail-nightmare Zim turns around, pregnant and wearing a disgusted look "ugh, it's the little dib" (they're still like the same height though)
OOPS I WROTE IT
Edit: AND OOPS A PART 2
_______
Dib had been trying to wrestle what looked like a remote control out of Twix’s hands. He wasn’t entirely sure what it was, except it was glowing and she looked panicked. How she was his daughter, he was still wrapping his head around, but the second he’d wrenched it away from her it had exploded with blinding light.
He rubbed at his eyes under his glasses, hearing Zim shriek and automatically falling into a fighting stance. “Hyeh!” Dib called, fists up.
“What was that?” As the smoke cleared, Dib heard shuffling, seeing a flash of green. He opened his mouth to ask how he even got here- they’d gotten into the fight over the time machine thing near his house, hadn’t he? They’d left Zim back at the base, unless he’d followed them….
Finally, he could see the alien, looking away from him. He was in…. normal clothes? A dark blue hoodie. Huh. That was a new one. Maybe he’d gotten a new disguise? They were in the corner store near the base, Dib realized, but when Zim turned around, his knees locked up.
Zim had a hand settled on the side of his stomach, looking like he’d stuffed a basketball down his hoodie. A hoodie that… looked more like something Dib would have, honestly. Had he stolen it from him? Dib’s eye twitched as his vision dragged up to Zim’s face, seeing deep bags under Zim’s eyes as he squinted at Dib.
“Dib? What happened to you? Did you go mussing up the healing gel and turned yourself back into a smeet? You’re little again!”
“Again- what happened to you?” Dib swallowed back bile. “Don’t tell me you started eating organs again, I just stopped having nightmares from last time.”
“Of course not, those were vile.” Zim stuck his tongue out. “Do you have amnesia now? Of course, you’d have to make things difficult, right before they’re coming out.” Zim’s hand cradling his stomach curled around the fabric of the hoodie, and it took Dib five solid seconds to process that.
“Wait, you’re- they’re coming out?” Dib scrambled back, knocking over a display of chocolate bars and getting a ‘hey!’ from the cashier. “You’re spawning?”
“Spawning?” Zim stared at him before starting to cackle. “Oh, this is rich! You’re not my Dib, are you?”
“Your Dib?” Dib was pretty sure his eyes were the size of saucers. “Am I- is this some kind of alternate reality or something?”
“That depends. Were you in the nest with me last night?”
“Nest?” Dib reached into his pocket, fumbling for the water pistol before realizing he’d used it up trying to get Zim earlier, before the argument with Twix. He could feel the remote starting to vibrate again, but ignored it. “This is some kind of trick! A mind game to try and get me-”
Zim groaned, a hand on his back, and for the first time Dib noticed that his Pak was glowing and making soft beeping sounds. “Cut it out, I know already!”
“Know what?”
Zim narrowed his eyes. “You’re not my Dib, I don’t know that I should tell-”
“Zim, there you are!” The door flew open with a loud tinkling of the bell, and Dib whipped around, holding up the useless water pistol. Standing in front of him was- him. The hair spike had a few loose, messy kinks, like Dad’s did when he was at work for too long and forgot to run a comb through it, and he had on sweatpants, which weren’t very dignified, but it was definitely him. Just… twice his height, with scruffy fuzz on his chin and a chip in his glasses and a pair of piercings with tiny ghosts in his ears. He stared down, as Dib stared up.
“Wait, what?” The new version of him asked, adjusting his glasses.
“Okay, this is getting weird,” Dib practically squeaked out. The adult version held his hands up, edging around him to scoop Zim up.
“How did you- I don’t remember this happening!”
“Alternate realities,” Zim said matter-of-factly just before clutching his stomach, and the older Dib groaned.
“This is why I told you to stay back at the base, the computer said you already started labor, and I had to use the tracking device which never gets the coordinates right, and-”
“You’re in on this too?” Dib’s hands were shaking as he instinctively tightened his fingers on the cheap plastic.
“Yeah, I am.” He clicked his tongue. “He’s not worth it sometimes, I swear.”
“Hey!”
“You’re a pain in the ass, admit it. They’d better be cute after all this.”
Dib blinked. “You want Zim to spawn? I’d never want there to be more of him!”
The older Dib raised an eyebrow. “I’d hope so, considering it’s my kid too.”
Dib felt his legs turn to jelly moments before everything went white again, and when he came to with the girl from the future preparing to shake him again, he just started screaming.

Alumni Band (Michael Clifford)
Tumblr media
Summary: Nellie and Michael were best friends in high school and in marching band. They reunite through alumni band. Platonic love.
Word Count: 2.1k
Rating: literally PG.
Warnings: me being a soft bitch
Authors Note: I'm back from the dead for .02 seconds. I wrote this while manic and haven't bothered editing it. Incase people aren't aware of what Alumni band is: it's basically just graduates of marching band getting back together and performing (usually.) I'm going off my experience, I literally just did alumni band in October (I was the second youngest.) and we always go to practices and then perform together with the high school band for homecoming games. Tons of fun. I'm also scared people won't like this as much because it isn't romantic and doesn't include smut. Fun. Enjoy!
I will probably make a second part in the future which might be romantic, but I'll probably stick with some platonic!Mikey. Double bonus, Nellie is a plus size character. I didn't feel the need to explicitly say that in this part. We'll explore that in the second.
The band room still smells musty and sweaty, a smell that somehow comforts Nellie Reed. It's been years since she had last stepped into her second home, but everything still looks the same. Chairs were still set in messy rows, music stands placed out of the way in the corner, and there are crumbs everywhere (despite the ‘no eating’ policy). There's a couple of new photos placed randomly along the walls, a disney world trip from 2018, the new drum major beaming proudly with majorettes. It brings back memories of her own high school years and how much she genuinely misses marching band. Of course she does, she wouldn't cancel plans for nothing. She only does it for homecoming week anyhow.
The rest of the alumni band seems to be taking their sweet ole’ time. To be fair, some of them are very old. Nellie has already paced laps around the room multiple times. Looked at photos. Peeked into the uniform closet, viewed the same old uniforms, and quickly shut the door before the odor could become too pungent. After all, the poor cotton uniforms only get dry cleaned twice a year and sadly they still smell like sweaty teens. She pulls out a music stand and takes out her piccolo to get some practice in. Well, that was the plan before a few frames beside the director's podium catches her attention. Upon closer inspection the first frame holds a picture of her, Kellen Loxley, and Michael Clifford at their final senior football game. It had been rainy and cold, both her and Kellen falling multiple times in the mud, yet the three of them were laughing in the picture. Her heart swells at the sight, she had never been so happy and content until that night. The second frame showed Hadden Beaupre's smiling face, she knew why the picture had remained there years after their graduation. He had died a couple nights before graduation after getting in a car wreck with Nellie and Michael. And the picture captures exactly how she remembers him, red curly hair spilling onto his forehead, freckles speckled across his dimpled cheeks, and green eyes shining brightly. God, she missed him. She missed them all.
Her introspective thinking is abruptly interrupted, “Staring at his dopey smile was probably your biggest downfall, ya know?”
She immediately recognizes the voice. She honestly believes that she could identify him anywhere.
“You're just jealous I stared at him, Clifford.” Nellie chuckles. She turns around to be met with none other than her high school best friend. Except he wasn't a teenager anymore and he definitely filled out his once awkward, gangly body.
“Me? Jealous? I could never.” Michael chuckles.
“Whatever you say. I didn't even think you'd show up,” She comments, “Let alone with bubblegum pink hair,”
Michael let's out a laugh, “Can you blame me? I know Jennings hates it and it'll be a good laugh. He can't make me bleach my hair like the good old days,”
“You're the dumbass who would dye it weekly despite knowing the rules,” She rolls her eyes. “I'm surprised you aren't bald from all the chemicals,”
Michael was trying to come up with a witty comeback when the double doors swing open and their old band director peeks his head in, “The rest of the alumni are on the field, apparently they still can't follow directions,”
The practice isn't going as smoothly as it did in high school. Nellie's section is filled with ditzy, forgetful thirty and forty year old women who rely on her to teach them everything. They forgot the very basics, but she's kind and teaches them anyway. While she's helping a woman named Janice with arm swings, she makes eye contact with Michael who is giving her a “are you serious?” look. She just shrugs and gives him a frown, because honestly, this sucks. Michael just smiles from across the field and it sends her back to their freshman year. It had been hot, both of them exhausted and ready to go back home, but they still found enough energy to mouth words to each other and make silly expressions. He looks the same, with dyed hair and his neck strap hanging to display his silver saxophone. It HAD to be silver, his fourteen year old self had claimed. It's unique, unlike every other boring gold saxophone. Of course the boy wanted to stand out, even his hair shows that.
“Will I see you at the game?” Michael questions after practice.
“Do you really have to ask?” Nellie gives him her signature smile. The one reserved just for him.
He chuckles, “It's not polite to assume things,”
“Of course you'll see me there, Mikey.”
The week passes right before Nellie's eyes, it feels that way, but she knows she's just giddy to see Michael again. The duo hasn't been the same since graduation, while at one time they used to be inseparable, now she's lucky to get a text once a month. It was usually saying about the same thing each month, “Hey, I hope you're doing well Nel. Hopefully I'll be home soon. 🖤” Except he never really came home until this week. She wanted to be mad at him, she should be mad at him, but she's too understanding for that. They're both adults with adult lives and that's okay. His adult life is just a little more exciting than her own though, a famous band, cool ass friends, and screaming girls willing to fall at his feet.
Nellie had a pretty bland life in comparison. She stayed in the same small, dead end town working as the city schools music therapist and occasional music teacher. While he was out touring the world and being rich, she was earning two dollars above minimum wage and eating microwavable dinners in her one bedroom apartment. She just wishes she could have the comfort of having Michael closer. At one time it was a reasonable wish, now it seems like too much to ask.
Michael is going to arrive at the high school late. According to the text that he had sent her. It's half expected, he was never on time to begin with and some things never change, she knows that. It isn't a big deal, yet Nellie can't help but feel a little hurt. She just wants to talk to him while getting ready, but the man is nowhere to be found and she's surrounded by strangers again. Not how she wants her night to go and definitely not what she had pictured happening. She had pictured getting there early together and having half of the evening to fool around and act like teenagers again, he had other priorities in place though. And she is definitely not one of them.
Nellie glances down at her phone for what feels like the hundredth time tonight. He hadn't bothered texting her again and there's only twenty minutes until pregame. And while she loves her best friend, she can feel anger and disappointment stirring up deep in her chest. Michael had spent the past few days texting her consistently and talking about how excited he was to relive his old marching band days. How excited he was to spend the evening right along with her. The least he could do is actually fucking show up and she's not sure that he even would. So, she lines up for pregame with the flutes and tries to rid herself of the negative emotions. This is a night for fun and remembering why she was so passionate about music in the first place.
Pregame is still hell. It's not particularly long or challenging, but it's still tiring in its own way. It's only when the band is marching off the field that Nellie spots soft pink hair through the mass of uniforms and alumni. The sight makes her heart race much faster than the marching and crowd could have. The fact that he actually showed up almost cancels all the frustration from before and all she can focus on is getting close to him as soon as possible.
“You showed up,” Nellie says once the duo is sat comfortably in the band stands.
“I told you that I would,” Michael raises an eyebrow at the girl.
“I was beginning to doubt that,”
“Nel, I have never lied to you” He tells her with a softer tone.
She just plays with the keys of her Piccolo, “Yeah, you do Mike. You usually do every time you claim you'll come home.”
“You know I can't help that. I always make plans and things always pop up. I'm here now, let me make it up to you,”
“I really don't wanna talk about this anymore. I'm going to get hot chocolate, want some?” She asks while handing him her beloved instrument.
“We need to talk, I don't want things to be bad between us.”
“I don't want to now, Michael.”
Nellie wants to stay and talk, it's what she's been craving for months on end. To just cuddle up next to him and talk about everything they've missed. She wants to know all about his famous life, tours, and new friends. She wants to tell him all about her students and how she's successful in her own way. But she doesn't, she turns and walks down the bleachers stairs. Away from Michael and any bad moods that began to cloud her mind. She's just going to get them some hot chocolate and let the cold breeze cool her off before she goes back to him. Their friendship is something they both value and she doesn't want to ruin that due to bitter moods and hurt feelings. They'd work it out, they always do.
As promised, Nellie returns with hot chocolate and the two sip it in silence during the game. He doesn't bother trying to say anything else to her, but doesn't pull away when she cuddles up to him for warmth. They stay like that until halftime when they follow the high school band to warm up. Then onto field. The show feels natural and familiar, the one thing that both Nellie and Michael missed. Throughout the show she can occasionally see his pink hair moving smoothly across the field or see glints of his silver instrument. It fills her heart with nostalgia, no different than the rest of this week.
“I'm sorry I never come home,” Michael tells Nellie after the game.
She turns to watch the boy, his hair sticking to his forehead and green eyes studying her carefully, “I'm sorry that I was being a dick earlier. I was just kinda hurt that you were late. We don't get much time together.”
“I know. I wish it was different but with to-”
“Yeah, tour.” She cuts him off. “I would know more about that if you talked to me.”
“I should've made more time for you. I know,”
“I just want my best friend, Mike.” Nellie says and looks away from him.
Without warning, Michael pulls the shorter girl into his chest and hugs her tightly. She melts into the warm embrace and squeezes him softly.
“I can't take anymore time off. But I was thinking, why don't you take a little vacation and come with us for a month. Or two. I'll show you LA, you can see new places.” Michael tells her suddenly with wide eyes as if it surprises him too.
“Mikey,” Nellie whispers softly. “I have work and bills. I can't just leave like you can,”
A cheeky smile pulls at his pink lips, “And? Work for us,”
“Yes, because you totally need a music therapist,” Nellie rolls her eyes.
“We need…” Michael trails off, “Music lessons? You have a degree in music education.”
“Oh, so now a band with number one songs needs a music educator,” Nellie laughs at the thought. “Especially with all your famous friends,”
“Luke and Ashton can't read sheet music,”
“Luke plays piano,” She deadpans.
“By ear” Michael grins down at her. “You know that isn't proper. C'mon, Nellie.”
“As fun as that so-”
This time Michael cuts her off, “We'll pay double whatever this district offers. They really don't offer much, I would know, we both went here,”
“Fine.” Nellie grins.
Michael wraps his arms around her tightly and spins her around with joy. Nellie starts in a fit of giggles and hugs him tighter than ever before. She finally gets to see her best friend every single day. No more late nights waiting for texts and feeling let down when plans change. Suddenly doing Alumni band is the best decision she's ever made.
“I can't wait for you to meet the boys, Nel” Michael rambles, “You'll love them and oh my god all of the food in LA? To die for. I have so much to show you."
“I can't wait, Mikey."

If you are doing stuff in the siblings verse can you do one where after Bobbi and Jemma come home from HYDRA, Skye and Jemma find out they're sister in laws and Huntingbird thinks it's hilarious their sisters ended up best friends by happenstance.
Here’s a little family reunion for you :) The JemmaLance fic I’m working on is actually a much much angstier version of this involving a less successful Hydra escape but I thought I’d give the lighter scene a try. Thanks for the prompt!
~“So wait, explain this to me one more time,” Skye demands.
Hunter’s pacing the hallway, glancing at the hangar doors every five seconds, exactly as agitated as he’s been since Reina tried to blackmail them with Jemma’s safety.
“She’s my sister,” he repeats for the fifth time, too distracted by the resolutely closed hangar doors to be too annoyed by her incessant questioning.
“You,” Skye says, gesturing at all of Hunter’s somewhat-ruffled, tough-loner aesthetic, “are related to Jemma Simmons.”
He sighs. “Mum got knocked up when she was at Uni. Dad was a bit of a dick and didn’t really stick around so we didn’t keep his last name. Dad grew up, settled down, started a real family with a white picket fence and everything, and Jemma’s about the only good thing that came out of that whole mess.”
Skye has five million more questions but it’s at this point the hangar doors finally open, and they’re both hurrying forward with eyes only for Jemma.
She seems alright. A little buzzed, actually, from the adrenaline rush of not getting killed probably. She’s not a bit surprised to find Hunter waiting for her either.
“Jesus Christ, Cricket,” he mutters, catching her up halfway down the hallway, lifting her off the ground and holding on so tight Skye is concerned for Jemma’s spine.
“I’m fine, you can put me down,” Jemma objects impatiently, muffled into his shoulder.
He doesn’t set her back on her feet until she starts wriggling in his grip, and only then to fix her with a stern look. Skye pounces as soon as there’s an opening, throwing her arms around Jemma and demanding “What the actual Hell, Simmons?”
“I’m sorry for the deception,” Jemma says and she does sound a little pained as she squeezes Skye back and the rib-cracking hugs must run in the family.
“H.Y.D.R.A.?” Hunter splutters behind them, overflowing with outraged disapproval which Skye can’t help but find hilarious given all the effort he’s put into building up the rebel persona in the last few weeks. “You, who, at the age of twelve, once told me a magpie flew into my bedroom and stole my comic book collection to build its nest. You could’ve been killed, Jemma.”
Jemma crosses her arms and Skye has never seen such a stubborn expression on her face. “But i wasn’t.”
“She was great,” and the voice makes both Skye and Hunter just about jump out of their skin.
So focused on assuring themselves that Jemma was indeed back and in one piece, they’d barely given the tall, dark-haired woman accompanying her a glance, but as Skye turns, she feels her jaw drop a little.
“Bobbi!” she yelps, and is already throwing herself at her big sister before she can think about it. “You’re not blond.”
“Undercover, cupcake,” Bobbi says with a smirk.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Skye and Hunter ask at exactly the same time, although in very different tones.
Bobbi opts to ignore Hunter’s disgruntled expression and grins as she throws an arm around Jemma’s shoulders. “Keeping an eye on this one. And now keeping an eye on you, too.”
“You’re staying?” Hunter demands, scandalized.
Skye turns on him, annoyed. “Dude, what is your deal?”
She would chalk it up to the weird big brother hormones Hunter apparently has in droves, but Jemma is looking between Hunter, Bobbi, and Skye as though she’s calculating the circumference of the sun in her head, an oddly giddy expression slowly forming on her face.
She points an accusing finger at Skye. “You’re Bobbi’s sister.”
“You’re this idiot’s sister,” Skye counters, jerking a thumb at Hunter.
“Skye don’t you realize what this means?” Jemma looks like she’s about to float off the ground with excitement, but Skye just blinks at her bemusedly. “It means this whole time we’ve been sisters!”
And this time Jemma’s the one flinging her arms around Skye.
“Ex-sisters,” Hunter grumbles above their heads.
“Just because I divorced you doesn’t mean I divorced you’re family,” Bobbi points out, crossing her arms.
“Be nice,” Jemma admonishes, reaching back to punch Hunter in the arm. “She just saved my life.”
“Wait, wait, wait.” Skye pulls herself free to gape from Bobbi to Hunter. “You mean this bozo is the guy you eloped with?”
Bobbi looks slightly chagrined and shrugs. Skye spins dangerously toward Hunter.
“And my sister is the she-devil you keep whining about?”
Jemma narrows her eyes at Hunter. “You called Bobbi a she-devil?”
“Alright, simmer down, shorties,” Bobbi says, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. “Hunter clearly got the rawer deal when we split, losing out on me and everything. I still wouldn’t be over it either. But since we’re all one big happy work family now, maybe you can take the bitter down a notch?” she adds warningly to Hunter.
“You’re not seriously staying here, are you?”
“Be. Nice.” Jemma repeats, smiling sweetly up at him but stepping on is foot with each word.
“You’re supposed to be on my side, my own flesh and blood,” he whines, trying to put her in a headlock as Bobbi leads the way toward the kitchen.
“I”ve always been on Bobbi’s side, this is nothing new,” she tells him, pulling free.
“Fine, I’ll let it slide this once. But seriously, Crick, H.Y.D.R.A.?”
He dropes his arm across her shoulders as they follow Bobbi, as if now that she’s back he can’t bring himself to let her go, and Skye gets the feeling. She takes a second before catching up and looping her arm through Jemma’s to watch her family, apparently twice the size she thought it was ten minutes ago, bang their way toward the lounge, and can’t help but wonder how exactly this is going to work, all four of them on base together.
