Hey, you are not an embarrassment for not knowing how to do certain household chores/basic self-care. They do not come naturally to us. A lot of it takes practice! Maybe you had a neglectful guardian. Maybe you had one that was very coddling and never thought to teach you. Maybe you haven't lived in a place where these things were available to you or needed. Doesn't matter. It's okay to not know and far more common than you might realise.

That said, this website provides very simple instructions on how to do everyday tasks such as making your bed, using a washing machine, cooking different foods, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. All you have to do is use the search bar to find the task you're struggling with, and it'll come up with what you need + other related how-to's:)

If you're having trouble navigating it, let me provide you with some examples:

  You know a lot of us who like biology always end up talking so much about how actually this animal or this plant is really pretty when you look at it this way and there’s this thing it does that’s really nice and it’s important to the ecosystem because of this and this and this but if we’re being REALLY real, some animals look like someone rolled a big ball of dirt in some wet hair and they don’t do anything but scream and shit and eat all the skin off of some other animal but that’s why you should love them. It is amazing to live in a world where big weird sacs of meat grow sharper harder meat so they can rip open another sac and put its meat inside of theirs. Nobody would find skunks nearly as entertaining and memorable if they didn’t defend themselves with a wet reeking eye-searing assblast from hell. Bloodsucking insects are fantastic mechanisms of evolutionary engineering whose obnoxiousness to us has nonetheless inspired so much art and culture and music. The bayou isn’t the bayou if there’s not a chance a gator will rip you in half. Even some of the things we deliberately bred to be cute, like teacup chihuahuas, are cute because they look like someone’s foggy memory of what they think a sewer rat probably looks like, and it’s also marvelous and special that sewer rats are real too, that there’s little squeaky scaly-tailed hairballs scurrying around in dark tunnels we built to contain the sheer amount of piss we make every day. That’s nuts! Things are majestic and precious and exciting because they aren’t clean and neat and perfect and harmless. Nothing alive has to be justified as beautiful or beneficial to anybody else and guess what that even goes for you too, surprise twist, you may have to justify how you treat other people but you never ever have to justify just existing and you don’t have to exist for a reason because nothing ever has or will c:

I got an ask from someone who felt timid about drawing curlier hair and wanted some advice! This is by NO means exhaustive and is mostly just my thought process for my own stylization. There are tons of resources for drawing more textured hair, so for this I just wanted to focus on curls. hope it helps!

I feel like the reason certain dog-lovers insist cats are evil is because they read their body language as if they were dogs. So here’s a very basic guide to common “mean” things cats do that actually aren’t mean at all if you know what they’re thinking.

Rolling and exposing belly- attacks you when touched Does not mean: Give belly rubs! - haha I tricked you!  Actually means: I’m playful! If you reach for my belly I’ll grab your arm and bite it because I think we’re playfighting! 

Lazily exposing belly - still attacks when touched Does not mean: tricked you again! Actually means: I’m showing you my belly because I trust you. Please don’t break that trust by invading my personal space. I might accept a belly rub if I’m not ticklish and I know you well. Snapping at you while being pet Does not mean: I suddenly decided I dislike you! Actually means: You’re petting me in a way that gives me too much restless energy. Please focus on petting my head and shoulders instead of stroking the full length of my back next time.

Is in the same room but makes no attempt to interact Does not mean:  I’m ignoring you Actually means: We’re hanging out! I’m being respectful by giving you space while still enjoying your company. Slapping/scratching your hand when you try to pet them Does not mean: I hate you! Actually means: You’ve failed to establish that we’re not playing, or the way you’re approaching me scares me. Be calmer, speak more gently, make eye-contact and blink slowly at me before you try again.

The whole Pepsi commercial thing reminded me that people always mis-remember the famous flower in the gun barrel photo as being a young woman. It wasn’t. The photo, taken by Bernie Boston, is of George Edgerly Harris III better known by his stage name Hibiscus. He was a member of the San Francisco based radical gay liberation theater troupe the Cockettes. He died of AIDS in 1982 at the time AIDS was still referred to by the name GRID which stood for Gay Related Immuno-Deficiency. The photo was taken at a protest at the Pentagon.
