the thing about fem!dazai is that she would not look like that. she would wear the same exact outfits she wears in canon. she would not wear makeup. she would grow out her hair only because she's too lazy to cut it, and she would rarely actually brush it. (the messy look is part of my charm ;)) her nails would be bitten and picked at, and if she ever were to wear nail polish, it would have been forced on her by either chuuya or yosano. she wouldn't wear heels because she doesn't like pain. she wouldn't even have her ears pierced because she doesn't like pain. chuuya tried to convince her when they were teenagers and she kept coming up with increasingly absurd excuses for why she couldn't get her ears pierced. she wears socks with flats because it's more comfortable even though chuuya ridicules her endlessly because "don't you know how horrendous that looks". (why are you looking at my feet? dazai retorts is it because you can't see any higher than that?) the only times she's ever dressed up were for undercover missions in the port mafia, and she griped about being uncomfortable in her clothes and shoes and makeup the entire time. she doesn't even look at her reflection, so why would she spend hours curating the perfect look? she just throws one of her three outfits on and goes

You almost never see Nikolai, he for sure mumbles about attachments and fickle silly human lives. He's gone for weeks at a time and then suddenly he just busts out your pc screen and starts yammering about boredom and silly human lives and that he just needs to see you!

He would find your attempts at getting him away super funny and just laughs at you before waving it away and tormenting you still. Maybe sometimes he'll play into your dumb human fantasies and pretend to be sent away before just being on your couch, eating your food too that bum, as you walk in from work. He would act like nothing happened.

nikolai is an unprecedented guest.

not like you expected any of the demons you've met to show up when they did, but nikolai in particular had never shown any prior interest in you before turning up one day. he's so inconsistent and unpredictable that you can't even tell when he's around—he tends to like hiding from you and creeping up on you when he's in a particularly mischievous mood. most of the time, however, he just comes to your place and lingers around like an unpleasant memory you can't get rid of. always there, even if you don't remember in the moment.

his initial entrance is perplexing. you were simply reading through a random and suspicious-looking webpage that promised foolproof and effective ways to ward off demons and other evil spirits (it was about time you kicked fyodor out for good), when suddenly your screen glitched out and the whole room went dark, before this white-haired man with a card over his eye came out of a portal in your computer. he stood up after pulling his bottom half out, shook off his coat, and took a deep bow in front of you, a wicked grin on his face the whole time.

"it's wonderful to meet you!" he exclaims, though you note that his uncovered eye looked at you far too calculatedly for his words to be genuine, "i hear you have quite the party here. mind if i join?"

he doesn't wait for your answer before he spins around and starts exploring your apartment.

from behind him, you demand he put down your things, though everything you say is easily ignored. he picks up your phone, which had suddenly stopped working the day before—"i didn't realize it couldn't handle my portal," he sighs, "it's beyond saving now. but dos already said that, right?" (you don't get an opportunity to ask how he knew fyodor, or demand for compensation—and inspects your couch with a frown, trying to lie down on it before huffing. "this won't do. i'll be taking your bed," he declares, as though you had no say in the matter.

the good news is that nikolai doesn't come around very often.

the bad news is that he never tells you when he's coming by.

you come home after an exhausting day at work to find nikolai on your bed, giggling as he scribbles all over the papers you had painstakingly finished organizing over the weekend. while doing some work at home, you get up for a late-night snack, only to come back to find nikolai at your seat and typing whatever he likes onto your open documents. once, you're trying to sync your phone to your tv in order to put on a movie for dazai, and instead, nikolai crawls out in the most terrifying way (dazai screams so loud and leaps into your arms, after which he refuses to face you out of embarrassment for the rest of the week).

and nikolai prods at you like he was dealing with an unexpected experimental result, pinching and poking and coming up to look at you from awkwardly close like he was studying you. and then he'd pull away and go back to loitering around your place.

"humans are so boring," he groans, splayed out on your sheets, "do something fun! go commit a crime! sell your soul to me!" he huffs and glares at you, "i can't believe i left everything to come see you." "weren't you here for fyodor?" you ask, tired of his whining. "i was, but i was also curious because he's never been so enthralled by a human before. i don't know what he sees in you." you roll your eyes, biting back a snarky reply. from the corner of your eye, nikolai visibly deflates.

he talks a lot too, if he's in a good mood. you don't necessarily know what to make of his ramblings of fleeting life and feelings and freedom, but he's a lot more entertaining than any of the other demons when he gets like this, and so you have no complaints. sometimes, he even promises to come back and kill you ("really!" he says, "i mean it!") because he was starting to spend too much time with you, but he has yet to act on it. and if his reaction to fyodor's usual threats was anything to go by, he definitely did not want you dead anytime soon.

the salt circles become challenging when it concerns him. his coat, it appears, has some kind of portal in it, and just as you start drawing the circle, he's gone with the flap of his coat, now in a completely different corner of your room. he laughs at you the more you fail, and by the end of it, you don't have any salt left—dazai and chuuya have never been happier.

you convince fyodor to stand guard for a day, bribing him with a promise to increase his daily limit of humans he can torment (because if nikolai scribbled over your documents one more time you might actually lose your job), but it doesn't help. nikolai finds a way, crawling in through the mirror in your bathroom and waiting for you to wash off your cleanser to come face to face with him.

but when he finds dazai on your lap one day, giggling as you read out a bedtime story for him—an intriguing collection of curses—nikolai looks the most angry you've ever seen him. he disappears then, and doesn't stop by for almost a month afterwards. while the demons are happy, you can't shake off a sticky feeling of dread.

you realize exactly what you should have been scared off when you come home one day to all the other demons gone, with your whole apartment in disarray and nikolai waiting for you on your bed, with an innocent smile and a book in hand.

oh... that's a lot of pressure... I'm aware that I have weight on this side of the fandom (feels wild btw) but authority is too big a word

I mainly interact with art and the occasional analysis and joke posts, so most of the blogs I can recommend are that, plus I am very Chuuya/Dazai/skk biased

First, browse and follow the bsd fanart tag to get just that. Not everyone uses it (I encourage them to!!), but if like me you are so very done with the negativity fest that have become the main tags since the anime started airing again, that's a great place to find fun things!

Don't get me wrong, he's definitely impressed. But he can't shake off the twinge of worry that you're gonna dislocate a joint or something whenever you're stretching/flexing. At least, this is the case the first time he sees the extent of your flexibility lol

That being said, he does think not only can it be useful while fighting but ~other things~, so he doesn't mind it at all

He's an old-fashioned Russian dude who enjoys the arts. This man has seen a Swan Lake production or two in his life.

So he's rather impressed to see that you're physically flexible, because he respects ballerinas and how much work they put into their physicality (AND SO SHOULD YOU 😤). This is the case even if you don't do ballet (he just assumes that you've trained hard regardless), but he does suggest it to you. He'd also probably offer to pay for lessons lol

One of the main reasons it impresses him is because he isn't able to do it himself (he's brittle T-T) so he's like...'well you must be a very special individual' lol

Tells you not to tell Mykola about it, not for sexual reasons- Mykola's just a dick and he'd mess with you for hours (and tbh also probably make sexual comments on it now that I think of it)

Higuchi, my beloved!!

Favorite thing about them: She's just... Very funny and messy and relatable. She has SO NOT her life together. It's nice to see a character that feels human once in a while.

Least favorite thing about them: She's so dismissed by the author, and yet she feels like she has so much potential... I really wish the narrative would explore her character more. Not only, I wish she was treated with more sensitivity and respect. You can write about abuse; I dare say, it's a good thing to write about abuse! But you should be respectful about it, and DEFINITELY not treat it as a gag. A lot of Higuchi's character - the physical abuse she faces, her infatuation with her abuser - make very interesting themes you can explore in literature; just do so in a way that doesn't stripe the character of dignity, you know? Which a lot of times feels like what's being done to Higuchi.

Favorite line:

brOTP: Pretty much Higuchi and any pm member, Gin, Tachihara, Hirotsu (Gin especially, I find the whole “call me onee-san” thing Higuchi has going on with her very endearing). I really like the tough front she assumes when facing the ada, and I've found her interactions with Atsushi really cute, I'd like to see more of them. Also, I totally believe Higuchi and Kunikida are online friends who don't know they actually know each other irl. I really like to explore her relationship with Akutagawa, I wish once Akutagawa has matured to be a decent human being they could be like. Cordial coworkers.

OTP: I really wish she would stay single tbh. Right now I find it hard to imagine her having an healthy romantic relationship with anyone? Which is what I wish for her, to be healthy and happy, a lot more than for other characters lol. She's just very easy to sympathize with.

nOTP: I've talked about how I'm not a big fan of higu/gin, but I don't take issues with it either, it's not that deep.

Random headcanon: About how she ended up in the mafia. She and her sister were raised by a single mother; when she died, Higuchi had to struggle to find a way to sustain the both of them. Stumbling on the streets, at some point someone posed a threat for her sister, and Higuchi assumed a very aggressive and violent stance to defend her. Akutagawa was passing by, and was struck by Higuchi's ardency, as well as her determination to protect her little sister even with her bare hands; so he took her in.

Unpopular opinion: I wish her romantic feelings for Akutagawa were acknowledged a little more. In general, the fandom openly discusses Akutagawa and Dazai's relationship, while the Higuchi and Akutagawa one, who mirrors it for the most part, gets largely dismissed. On one hand, I get it's unpleasant to talk about, since it evokes concepts of work harassment and women domestic abuse that are often disturbing to talk about since more often than not hit close to home. At the same time, that just translates in not talking about a big side of Higuchi's character that makes her complex and realistic, which is sad too.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Mori’s affection depends on how busy he is with work. If his mind is preoccupied with the state of the mafia, the most you’ll get is a chaste kiss on the lips. On days he’s free from the fast paced happenings of the mafia, which are rare, he’ll be pretty loving and somewhat clingy. Overall though, the most common ways for Mori to show affection is through quality time and gift giving. When he has the time, he likes to take you on relaxing dates at nice (and expensive) brunch cafes, shopping at those luxury malls, and walking through quiet art museums on a weekday afternoon when few people visit. Mori’s actually a pretty good gift giver. He’s very observant and takes time choosing gifts for you. He’s not a particularly sentimental man though, so it won’t seem very romantic in the moment. He won’t write love notes in the books he buys you or engrave his name in a necklace but he’ll buy your favorite book he knows you’ll be excited to talk about with him and he’ll buy necklaces he thinks will look good on you. Mori’s a lot more subtle but he’s practical and his feelings get across.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Mori is like,,, insanely jealous and possessive. To the point where it can be a legit cause for concern. He’s mostly needy when he’s jealous and he doesn’t really see most men as a threat. So 90% of the time, he’s just pouting and whining for your attention or glaring at people who stare at you a bit too long. But when he does feel threatened, he gets quiet and sweet. There’s a dangerous glint in his eye. Next day on the morning news, there will be a report of the guy’s head found on a stick at a random park. God save us all...

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Mori keeps his cards close to his chest. Depending on the information, he’ll tell you whatever it is he thinks is appropriate to tell you over a period of time. There’s a lot he won’t tell you, regardless of how close you are to him. Especially if it’s concerning his work. Overall, Mori doesn’t view openness as a testament of love and his secretive nature will remain throughout the relationship, regardless of how you might feel about it.

kunikida doppo.

Kunikida is actually pretty affectionate, he’s just not affectionate in the typical sense. He shows his love by almost “mothering” the people he cares about and remembering the little things. The most common form of affection Kunikida gives is looking after your diet. He often makes lunch for you in the mornings while you get ready and makes sure that it’s both delicious and well balanced. Kunikida is also pretty observant of the people he likes. He’s often checking in on you and while he can be brash while doing so, he has good intentions and takes care of you. He wants to lessen your burdens and shoulder them with you. That’s Kunikida’s way of saying he loves you. He’s quite a romantic!

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Kunikida is comical when jealous. He thinks of himself as being above jealousy and that it’s something only mentally weak people succumb to. So when he experiences it himself? Oh, he is suffering. Kunikida’s coping mechanism is mostly through denial and distraction. Of course, Dazai picks up on this and riles him up by saying “Oh that other man is just so strong, isn’t he?” or “Doesn’t the other man have such impressive ideas?”. After some torment from Dazai, Kunikida will become very snappy and sulky. Please baby him a bit when he comes home. Kunikida won’t act on his jealousy though. He’s too ashamed for that and he’ll avoid taking it out on you. So there’s not much to worry about on this front.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Kunikida has a lot of pride and a lot of shame. He wants to look his best in front of you. He wants to be able to stand tall and never let you see him falter. But obviously, that isn’t realistic. It will take some time but not too much time. The pressure to seem perfect and unbothered around you will cause him to break down and all of his worries and burdens and weaknesses will come flooding out. He’ll be greatly ashamed when it happens but after consistent assurance and love, Kunikida will feel more comfortable being vulnerable. He’ll still be a little embarrassed though.

the long awaited art dump (pt 2)

this is everything else that isn't dragons, and it's still organized from oldest to newest in descending order. first one's a throwback to zombie dazai, the second one's some random art of doc that i was too lazy to draw the other eye of, so i resorted to dramatic shading. don't mind the third picture murder pages; i was messing with watercolor and that ruined a good 3 pages after that. i have art of a creature i made up called a hoippu (the weird bird skull looking thing) and also of my cat in one of her strange positions.

yes, i also have mer dazai and mer skk in general. yes, they are on school related papers (the mer skk art is on a horribly crinkled math page and i really need to scan it so i can finish it digitally because i didn't even add dazai's bandages. what the hell is wrong with me). i do not care; if i see an empty space on a page, i'll fill it with something. first full bodies of semi-human creatures! foreshortening is hard btw i hope everyone understands that

saw this post by @inamagicalhallucination about atsushi drawing and wanted to contribute (long post)

atsushi's interest in drawing stems from finding pencils scattered in the orphanage and he starts scribbling mindlessly, usually in corners or places he knows people won't see

it provides a small sense of escapism for him as it allows him to zone out and not think about anything

eventually someone rats him out and he's forced to stop

he rediscovers his hobby when ranpo tasks him with getting candy and he to the newsagency for a specific kind of candy and spots a fancy colour by number book

atsushi flips through it and discovers it centres around colouring pretty landscapes from around the world, which encourages him to find a cheap coloured pencil kit and some paper

then he starts off by drawing random places he finds pretty, be it some park or a sunset he saw

it takes him some time to get used to colours and how to blend them, but he manages

eventually he starts incorporating animals into his drawings (especially cats or insects that are around)

at some point he wants to improve on his skills so he focuses on close ups of scenes, animals or scenes with lots of objects in it, and he especially loves colouring places or objects that are vivid in colour over dark things

once he's more confident he starts to buy better pencils and higher quality paper to experiment with, and even tries a different type of style of drawing before he realises he likes drawing in realism the most

atsushi doesn't tell anyone about his hobby (he presumes ranpo knows but doesn't care, and he thinks dazai knows but this isn't confirmed by either of them), but the first person who finds out and asks him about it is kyouka, who finds a half finished drawing on his bed when she was cleaning

after hearing kyouka ask enough about his drawings ("you don't have to show me, but i'd love to see your drawings" translates to "i will be really offended if you don't eventually show me your drawings"), he caves and reluctantly shows some

kyouka then immediately asks if he can draw her and he bottles up and says no (politely since it's atsushi) before saying he's going on a walk

she apologises when he returns and atsushi accepts and the topic is dropped, but not without atsushi feeling a little guilty about making his hobby a big deal

time passes and atsushi decides to draw kyouka on a whim when they visit a park together (she's the only person who he feels comfortable openly drawing around) but doesn't show her until they return back to their dorm

she accepts it happily and gives him a hug which takes atsushi a few seconds to process before he accepts the hug

from then on, kyouka becomes a reoccurring figure in his art and every so often she'll appear in the background and he'll always give the ones kyouka appears in to her

kyouka always praises his work and hugs him (which has atsushi blushing everytime)

I made this little guy quite a while ago, some month after Wan! aired, after getting mildly obsessed over tiny chihuahua Chuuya and i think i feel like finally making a proper post and share him on here in case he could bring joy (and mischief!) to anyone else. He's probably my favorite art project i've made. Really shakeable and throwable if you're mean enough

He can climb on browser windows and steal them if they're not fullscreen too, the screen recorder just killed that feature somehow. He'll do all these actions by himself at random or by command

Note that he won't duplicate on his own, you'll have to click the little paw icon on the right side of the task bar if you want more of him!

**Update March 2024: I updated him to the latest version of shimeji so he works with more modern less stone age versions of java and with it you now have to right click the paw icon and go to settings then type in any programs you want him to be able to climb on and interact with in "interactive windows". Dazai can be found here.

ADA with reader that has an ability like Disciple/Herald/Ann from Identity V

On the outside you look like an average citizen in Yokohama with a pet cat that tends to hang around you too much.

But not everything meets the eye when it comes to you, apparently the cat is related to your ability. Your ability is tied to that black cat that hangs around you 24/7. Your ability is to dash towards wherever your cat's location is at a rather alarming speed and you can sense where your cat is because of the bond you both share.

The first time you meet someone in the Armed Detective Agency is when Atsushi and Kyoka were doing some questioning around the area about some criminal. That's when they see a random black cat looking at before you come dashing towards the cat at a speed faster than light and picking it up. Needless to say, you scared the duo well as Kyoka has Snow Demon out thinking that you would attack her and Atsushi.

But clearly that wasn't the case so after clearing the misunderstanding y'all had. Well safe to say the two are amazed by your ability. The fact that no one would've thought that your cat had something to do with your ability was rather intriguing. Kyoka asked to pet your cat and you let her whilst Atsushi was questioning you if you had seen any suspicious person or activity.

Once they were done with questioning you well they left of course and they headed their way back to their agency whilst you made your way to wherever you were going originally.

Once Atsushi and Kyoka were back, they well Atsushi told Dazai about you, your cat and your ability. So Dazai decided to scout you out as a potential member of the Detective Agency since your ability would be useful in chasing down criminals. Plus, you had a higher chance of being accepted by the President since he did like cats. (No idea how hiring works in the ADA but yeah we'll stick to this ig)

Once you were scouted out by the agency and after having successfully passed the entrance exam well the agency welcomed you with open arms. All the members adore your black cat and the President is especially fond of your cat and your ability, some members have even caught him playing with your cat and trying to feed it sardines which it refuses for some odd reason.

While Kunikida was doing a report once he was scared of the living day light out of him by your cat sitting in a dark corner with only its two yellow eyes staring back at Kunikida. Dazai was laughing his ass off upon hearing about this and would always tease Kunikida about him being frightened by your innocent black cat. Atsushi and Kyoka will feed and play with your cat while on breaks and your cat seems to favor Atsushi maybe it knows Atsushi is secretly a cat as well. Tanizaki will sometimes have to pull Naomi away from squeezing the air out of your cat whilst hugging it. Yosano will sometimes buy some small accessories or outfits meant for pets for your cat to try on. Then there's Haruno who like the president absolutely adores your cat and bombarded it with head scratches, belly rubs, endless amounts of cat food, attention and more of anything that would make your cat or really any cat happy.

You're usually paired up on missions with Tanizaki since his ability would work out well with yours especially during missions where y'all had to locate and arrest the criminal in question. How such a mission would usually work is Tanizaki has you covered with light snow whilst he heads on chases the criminal and when they're about to escape that where you and your cat come in handy and block off the criminals escape route before having them pinned to the ground and hand cuffed. Once the mission is done, Tanizaki will be giving your cat some cat treats and belly rubs since it seems to enjoy them as a reward for helping out.

During one mission that's where you come into contact with the Port Mafia and more specifically the port rabid dog Akutagawa well let's just say his ability, Rashoumon couldn't do much against you and your cat as you kept dashing towards and away from him. Let's just say Akutagawa has beef with another cat like ability user from the Armed Detective Agency.

It is safe to say that with your new life at the agency, you and your cat are on good terms with everyone and your life has never been dull since then plus your cat gets all the affection and attention it can get at the agency.
