not to be a hater i was just thinking about this recently. the biphobia in Glee is so inconsistent with how its addressed.
like i’m pretty sure the ONLY person who ever gets called out for saying anything remotely biphobic is Kurt (which like im glad bc it was a shitty thing to say. tho i think kurt antis use it to frequently paint this rhetoric that kurt is a bad person bc of one (1) shitty thing he said)
meanwhile santana can say shitty things about bisexuality bc shes mad that brittany is dating sam and thats apparently fine???? she really has the idea that brittany is betraying her for penis which is bizarre. also i feel like she enabled dani’s biphobia as well.
i love santana, but i feel like this issue is heavily glossed over by fans while kurt’s comment is apparently bad enough to crucify him :/
Tumblr media
I know we've talked about it before but I also just thought of it again recently. Bc there was a poll with Here Comes The Sun and someone in the tags was like "I'll vote for anything over Dani's biphobic ass" and it's like well baby girl Santana's biphobic ass is literally standing right next to her. And people sure don't have a problem voting for Santana's songs despite how blatantly biphobic she also is
And also transphobic, we can throw that in there, bc it's always about Penis and Boys hand in hand like there's no other option. Never mind Unique has been on the show for over a season, let's keep equating dick with gross boys and pussy with beautiful lesbian 100% pure sapphic goddesses 😍😍 Bleh it's like they tried to cram in every last shred of offensive sexual language they could think of into one two minute scene
BUT it's not like I'm judging that specific tagger, or anyone else who dislikes Dani. Bc at least Santana is a character with a million other things going for her besides the worst things she's said (exactly like Kurt hi) whereas Dani had like ten lines in her time on the show and half of them were "sapphic goddess" and "i love lady parts" barf
"She enabled Dani's biphobia as well" yeah literally. She could've just said "I was dating a girl and it didn't work out and we broke up" but she specifically threw "and she was bi" into the middle of it like that's part of the reason they broke up lmao. Santana, who tells Brittany that it's okay for her to date someone new, boy or girl, just to throw a fit when Brittany ends up dating Sam and makes it into some weird thing about her need for dick and how she's Less Than bc she's bi. And telling that to a potential new partner so she can reinforce her shitty stereotypes by also being gross about bi people (: Amazing
And anyway bringing it back to Kurt and double standards but like. That's pretty much the only offensive thing Kurt ever said lmao. Like yeah he said some dumb or thoughtless things here and there but if you take out that one glaring fuck up, you're not really left with anything that bad. Whereas if you extract Santana's biphobia from the equation, you're still left with six seasons of racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, fatphobia...
So yeah :) Double standards, anon, double standards x

alright. WHAT is a Raven Cycle. What is this story about. All this time seeing you pointed about these people, but it took me ages to figure out what the "trc" tag even stood for -- that poll you just reblogged in fact. I'm ready. Give me the pitch.
HI.
the raven cycle is a series of four books by maggie stiefvater: the raven boys, the dream thieves, blue lily lily blue, and the raven king. there is a follow-up trilogy called the dreamer trilogy made up of three books: call down the hawk, mister impossible, and greywaren.
(my 'cdth' tag is my tag for the sequel series, which i like even more than trc.)
it's a YA modern fantasy series set in a small town in rural virginia. the series focuses on a gang of five teenagers (a sixth joining in book 3/4) who are all dealing with various magic bullshit in their lives. one is looking for a dead welsh king along a ley line in the mountains of virginia, because legend says that the king can be woken and grant a wish.
the problem is that this boy, gansey, is going to die.
we know this because the one girl in the group (sorry women. there are more women in cdth i SWEAR), blue, saw his ghost on st mark's eve. which means he will die within the next year. why did she see his ghost?? because he's either her true love, or she killed him.
or, you know. both. if you're a girl who's cursed to kill your true love with a kiss. as she is.
blue does not want to kill anyone. blue also does not want gansey to be her true love. they get off on the wrong foot entirely and she decides he's the devil for a little while. blue is overall having a bad time with the world and her place in it and the fact that she's the only non-psychic person in a family of psychics, And Also She Doesn't Want To Kill Anyone.
so the question is -- for all four books -- what..... would make her kill gansey. how is gansey going to die.
gansey's three other closest friends are boys in varying states of emotional turmoil.
ronan, who is where my URL comes from, is a suicidal bipolar maniac alcoholic who spends all of his time trying to kill himself. and is also magic as fuck. and hiding it. and going out street racing with a guy who wants to eat him. and they're kind of fucking about it. they technically never fuck except like. they're kind of fucking about it
adam is a trailer trash kid paying his own way into the elite boarding school that gansey & ronan attend. his dad is physically abusive to the point of adam's life being in constant danger, but adam refuses to accept gansey's offers of help or safety, because he's determined that nobody else ever Own him.
noah is a quiet kid with a violent past that gansey cares about very deeply, getting into all of his backstory involves major book one spoilers but it is. Rough.
the plot points in the series are complicated to explain because there's a lot of mythology and strange worldbuilding and psychic bullshit and magic all going on and playing off each other. but the series is about these five kids being in a giant pseudo-polyamorous relationship and loving each other and hating each other and wanting each other and killing each other.
it has some of my favorite relationship arcs of all time in any media, ever, and also it like. taught me how to write. LOL. so if you're here from the owl house (??) or from a different fandom and you like how i talk about characters and how i write character conflicts and character arcs and character relationships....... U Get All Of That Shit In The Raven Cycle.
and that's it!

I've been watching the Expanse for the first time over the last couple of weeks. Just finished episode three of season six and holy shit, it's so good. Easily one of the best sci-fi series ever produced. I'm just disappointed they didn't do the last three books and truncated the sixth season. One of this show's strengths was its pacing and how it was able to tell a compelling story while also doing incredibly deep and brilliant worldbuilding.
The Belter society is amazing, especially the Belter Creole they speak. Which was invented and fleshed out specifically for this show. I love how it parallels the poor and working class here in our world and the exploitation they face. It's brilliant how they give us so many different versions of what their fight for recognition and independence looks like, each with its own unique benefits and flaws.
I think Camina Drummer is my favorite character. I love her strength and fierce loyalty. Her and Naomi definitely dated while she was on the Behemoth. Amos is another fave. I get really strong autistic vibes from him, but a lot of it could also be how he deals with the immense trauma from his childhood. Which is also one of the most interesting and heartbreaking backstories in the show.
There's so much more I could get into to that makes it so great. Like everything that is Chrisjen Avasarala. Or Bobbie's escape on Earth and how it showed Earth wasn't all rich people day drinking. Or the freaking protomolecule! But I think I've rambled enough. lol

Just finished IWTV book, so now I can say the differences between the book, movie, and show. The movie is quite accurate to the book, while the show is more original. I love them all quite a lot, but I think the show is my favorite since it's the most romantic. Long post with spoilers below the cut.
book:
The depth of Louis' interiority, especially his thoughts about religion, can only be found in the book. I am also ex-Catholic so this is high-key my shit. Especially knowing Anne Rice went back and forth later in life. I can relate. Louis wants to talk about his feelings with other vampires, but Lestat and Claudia aren't interested, which is the main reason Louis is attracted to Armand. Where is the Brideshead Revisited crossover?? Louis get in a bisexual love triangle with the Flytes for me🙏
I learned in the Matt Baume video on Anne Rice that she wrote IWTV while grieving her daughter, who died of leukemia just before her sixth birthday. This feeling of grief, reflected so clearly in Claudia, is the most moving and unique aspect of the book, far more than anything between the adult characters.
One reason this feeling is watered-down in both adaptations is that in the book, Claudia is only 5/6, the age of Anne's real daughter. In the movie she is 10 and in the show 14. Of course it would be impossible to find a 6 year old actress who could act with the maturity of an 80-year-old woman. But the character is even more pitiful and bizarre as a little child than as one nearing puberty.
In the book, Lestat is shown to have survived the murder attempt pretty early on, and he keeps jump-scaring Louis and Claudia on their adventures. I prefer the movie's version where they hold off on this reveal. Though of course I always love to see him, lol
In the book, I got the impression that Lestat and Louis are both bi, but Lestat prefers men and Louis prefers women. Still, their motivations aren't driven by sexuality in a straightforward way. For example, Lestat's ideal prey is a young man, because he loves to destroy their potential. Louis feels something like love for a few women characters, because he feels empathy for their misfortunes.
The adaptations soften/change Louis' status as a slave-owner; in the movie, he frees his slaves, and in the book he just flees. As much as Louis is a soft-hearted quasi-feminist, defined by his guilt and regret, he is still racist and close-minded in most ways. This seems realistic to me.
I did think it was interesting and cool that the enslaved people can tell Louis and Lestat aren't human, while the other plantation owners and even Lestat's dad have no idea. But we don't get their perspective, just Louis' racist assumptions.
Yeah in the book Lestat has a dad! It is rather confusing since Lestat explains nothing, but it creates some great melodrama. I guess I have to read the next one and hope for a backstory reveal.
Fun spooky detour into Eastern Europe! I hope the show goes there in season 2.
Louis and Armand's discussions are really cool. I especially loved Louis' monologues after Claudia's death. There wasn't room for these discussions in the movie, but I feel like it'll be a main focus in season 2 of the show.
movie:
Like I said, the movie is impressively accurate, and a beautiful work of art on its own. The best innovation is holding off on the Lestat reveal until almost the very end. This makes it look like their murder attempt really did a number on him, and it took decades and decades of rat-eating to even drag himself out of the swamp. I like that.
The movie also has a more exciting and ridiculous ending, in which Lestat attacks the reporter in his car and drives away to Guns N' Roses. The book ends with the reporter hurrying off to find Lestat himself. It's funnier and more awesome if Lestat is the one driving the plot and the car. Pleased to meet you :D
"How avant-garde." Best line in the movie, and it's not from the book!
Since the movie cut out most of the minor characters, there isn't as much evidence for Louis' bisexuality. Louis seems more like, gay but closeted. And Lestat seems more like, gay but misogynist, so he'll prey on women just for sport lol.
I'm a Fight Club guy so I love that this is, like, a reverse companion movie (this time, Brad Pitt is the pushover in a dangerous gay duo)
show:
This is the only version that is clearly gay. But this dynamic is the same: Louis wants to talk about things, and Lestat does not. In this case, the focus of these discussions is not vampirism or religion but their relationship. Louis points out that he is gay and Lestat is bi. Perhaps it's just because I saw this version first, but this is my favorite version of their sexualities. The show simply spends more time with this dynamic, and how it affects everything, including their interracial relationship and openness in society.
In the book, Lestat is a talented but soulless musician. He can play anything, but without heart. In the show, music is Lestat's one genuine connection to humanity (even if this connection just leads him to kill musicians who don't impress him). I believe later books go more into Lestat as a musician, so I'll have more thoughts on this later.
Since the reporter is cynical, old, and dying, this creates a much more compelling conversation within the framing device. He holds Louis to task with a forcefulness that rivals Lestat. It is a clever way of modernizing the story, since Daniel references their last interview in the 70s (when the book was published), and you are meant to wonder which version is more truthful.
Since Claudia is 14, she can pass as an adult, and she is able to go on her own rather disastrous adventure. It is exciting, terrifying, and sad, and a welcome addition for this character, though it is much different than the book's helpless, heartless Claudia.
The Catholicism in the show is flashier, but not as interesting as the book. For example, in the book, Louis is haunted not just by Paul's death, but Louis' failure to meet Paul's faith-driven monetary demands. In the show, Paul's ideas seem like more of an annoyance. Maybe there will be more religious doubt in season 2, but I don't really expect it.
In the book, it seems like Louis and Claudia throw Lestat in the swamp since it's faster and more thorough than fire. In the show, the oven they use is a major plot point, and Louis can't bear to put Lestat's body in it because he still loves him. Instead they throw Lestat in the trash, which is one of my favorite tropes (see: Maul in The Clone Wars, Soldier 1998). This is just one of the many ways the show complicates and deepens Louis and Lestat's bond.
I feel like the show is more believable and has more deepness in general, since it's a smart retrospective on an old franchise and a response to decades of vampire fun in pop culture. For example, in the show Louis has volunteer humans to feast upon, and it's very "safe, sane, and consensual," versus the universally predatory relationships in the book and movie. Because we all know now that if vampires were real, and they were hot and rich, they could get all the blood they want without hurting anyone. An ethical vampire like Louis isn't impossible anymore. Compared to other billionaires, he's a pretty decent guy.
So, I'd say the book has the most profound perspective on grief, the movie has better structure, and the show has the most complex romance.

After a long days work
Tumblr media
I just caught up on the sixth episode of My happy Marriage and I literally cannot get enough of this. It’s probably one of my top favorite romance anime’s ever to come out. Not too much happens in this fic though because I wanted to keep this as in character as I possibly could. I decided to just keep it short and sweet.
Also sorry it’s been a while haha. A lot has been going on. I want to get back to writing but idk if I have the energy to take requests at the moment. Anyway, I really just wanted to write this.
Warnings: This is a fic that contains tickling, so if that’s not your cup of tea then just keep scrolling. Also probably some spoilers lol.
Summery: After a long day of work, Lord Kudo comes home rather tired and sore. Miyo insists on helping him. Who is he to refuse such a kind gesture?
Lord Kudo finally arrived at his home. Miyo was there, as usual, to greet him. “Lord Kudo how was work today?” She asked softly. “It was fine.” He told her kindly. He realized in that moment that he had honestly missed her. “I have prepared dinner for you Lord Kudo.” She informed her fiancé. “Thank you Miyo. Your effort is greatly appreciated.”
After Kudo changed into a more comfortable Kimono, he joined Miyo. They ate in some silence, a bit of talk here and there for when Kudo would offer complements to her food. She truly was a great cook. He could tell that she seemed to have a lot of experience.
Once they both finished Lord Kudo attempted to get up, but he stumbled from pain in his back. “Lord Kudo are you alright?!” Miyo asked, highly alarmed by this. “N-no I’m ok. My back is just sore that’s all.”
“W-would you like me to help you ease the pain?” Miyo asked, slightly flushing from asking that particular question. But Lord Kudo saw in her eyes that she looked worried. She genuinely wanted to help him. He sighed and smiled softly. “That would be wonderful Miyo.”
Soon he was helped to his bed and lay on his stomach. He kept his Kimono on so that they could keep a level of respect between them. Miyo then gently rubbed at his back. Kudo was surprised at how well she did with this. Did she do this a lot back at her home? Whatever the case was, he felt like he was melting into her touch. When was the last time anyone had ever taken care of him like this?
Miyo was kept her touches light but with just the right amount of pressure that would help. Suddenly though, she trailed a little to close to his side and he flinched. Miyo recoiled quickly. “Lord Kudo I’m so sorry are you ok?! Did I hurt you?!”
“No no Miyo you’re fine.” He assured her quickly.
“But you flinched! Is this worse than we thought? Should I get Yuri?”
Lord Kudo loved that she cared so deeply about his well being. “N-no no I’m alright. You just tickled me a bit that’s all. No need to worry.” He gave her a soft smile.
Miyo looked surprised. Tickled?
“O-oh…” she looked a bit more embarrassed this time. “I-I’m so sorry! I will be more careful next time.” She told him, his smile assuring her.

Rebels Rewatch: "A Princess On Lothal"
Mini Leia is here to lift everyone's spirits, and provide some much-needed hardware to the Rebellion.
Right, so going to have to be careful about the new photo limit, but just one quick cap from the beginning here because awwww the Loth-cat was comforting Ezra!
Tumblr media
Oooh the deep glockenspiel adds some interesting texture to this music cue here.
And cue the Hammerhead corvettes. Good thing Leia dropped by when most of the blockade was still sweeping up on Garel.
(They'll be back soon, Lothal and Garel are practically galactic neighbors.)
Lol Lyste sighing in aggravation about "Another delegation from Alderaan." I'm certain Bail and Breha have cultivated quite the bleeding heart reputation as cover for their covert Rebel activities.
I don't think the voice actress they chose is that great. She sounds... way older than 15/16 and I can tell she's trying for the cadence of Carrie Fisher's snark but... I dunno it just lands weird for me. I think they could have gotten away with having her voice sound younger and it would have been okay.
Tumblr media
Chopper sticking by Ezra's side. :((((
A slow, mournful version of Ezra's theme. Fitting, as he's going to be grieving the whole episode. Which is a nice bit of continuity. I love it when shows allow time for characters to grieve and adjust to losses they've sustained.
Subtle animation appreciation moment: The way Ezra idly thumps the cadet helmet to the side of his head. Just a nice little gesture that adds character and flavor.
Oh shit, that was definitely a Dies Irae in the score there.
(A refresher for those of you just joining this rewatch: The Dies Irae is an old Latin musical sequence that has been used basically since the Gregorian chant days to denote the specter of death in a work of music. Composers from ages past up to the present have referenced it in their compositions. Think of it as like the world's oldest music meme.)
Lot of OT score references in this part, no surprise.
Ezra is noticeably more surly and pissy than usual this episode, at least until his pep talk from Leia. Also no surprise, the boy hides behind his sarcasm and snark like no one's business.
"I don't get to give orders!" Just wait, Ezra, lol. You'll get your turn.
Leia playing Lyste like a damn fiddle lolol.
Mini Leia is really pretty. They did a great job with her design.
Alderaan sits pretty in the "plausible deniability" section. I'm sure the Empire suspected the planet of harboring secret Rebel sympathies but they were never able to have concrete proof of it. Bail, like Mon, probably held out hope that he could stem some of the Empire's tyranny from within, and so that's why he didn't want to lose his seat of government power, not as long as there was a chance he could effect some kind of change, which meant Alderaan had to avoid being directly tied to the Rebellion.
There's some commentary there about the need to work within the system in order to fix it, versus when it's time to break off and burn it down, but I'm not going to go into that right now.
Hngh, Ryder's resignation when the Stormtrooper mentions "termination".
"Hera's here." Hhhnkgjhn that's the happiest we've heard Ezra sound this episode Imma cry.
Luke's theme used per the standard as a bold Big Damn Heroes leitmotif with the Ghost's appearance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'll warn Sabine." Lol how does Ezra know Sabine's the one who's going to be paying attention?
Zeb enjoyed this entirely too much lololol.
Ha ha those two Stormtroopers who are like, "They take prisoners now???"
Tumblr media
This man has zero shame lol.
RIGHT, SO THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE UNDERRATED SABEZRA MOMENTS RIGHT HERE AND I HAVE BEEN A VERY GOOD GIRL WITH THE PHOTO LIMIT WHICH MEANS I GET TO CAP THE SCENE IN FULL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That soft hand on his arm. The way her eyes linger on him as he turns away.
*sobs*
I love it so muuuuuuuuch!
Leia being, well, Leia, immediately discerns that something's really bugging Ezra. I love that the Kenobi show leaned into the inner sixth sense she displays here, that she can pick out a person's thoughts and feelings with the Force just by looking at them.
Kanan discerning that Leia might be able to comment and help Ezra, aww.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friiiiiiiiick his face.
Leia's theme follows right on the heels of Ezra's theme here, in the score.
"I feel like because I can fight, I have to, for those who cannot." Boy is that isn't the quintessential Jedi and Rebel Alliance motivation right there...
I do like the dynamic between Ezra and Leia. It's very sweet. They bond based on their shared Hero Complex motivations, their mutual desire to fight on behalf of the helpless. Ezra shows off a little bit for her, later, in the way he usually does around girls he likes (the boy has A Type, let's be honest), but it never quite reaches the overtness of his crush on Sabine, so it hits even more quasi-platonic.
I think Leia thought he was cute tho.
Back to the plot, Leia's embarrassing Lyste all over the place here lol.
Ah, wow, the Rebel Alliance theme, haven't heard that in a while.
There is quite a bit of tension in how slowly the Hammerheads take off. The show plays that tension for all it's worth.
Oh you know I gotta comment about this part right here where Ezra goes feral.
For a moment we had all forgotten about the fact that he was clearly grieving, and this outburst caught us off guard. The way this is staged it's framed as concerning, with an edge of danger, Ezra leaping onto the Stormtrooper and clashing beats sounding along with his punches in the score, Kanan reaching towards him with an almost hesitant body posture.
But! Ezra lets out his anger and then contains himself, standing up and just putting his helmet back on. He breathes, regains his composure, and returns to neutral.
*weeps* He's such a good Jedi.
Kanan whipping out his lightsaber to be awesome against the AT-ATs aaaaaah!
(And that implied to be the reason Ryder stayed on Lothal and started up a new Rebel cell there, ONCE AGAIN CATCH ME CRYING ABOUT HOW THE JEDI REPRESENT HOPE TO A HOPELESS GALAXY.)
HHmmmmmmgggh I wanna say this is a recurring leitmotif but I don't know, I love it either way, it's beautiful.
Swish swish and return to first position, aaaah lightsaber choreography is so cool sometimes.
This whole sequence is just... *chef kiss*. The orchestration, the tension, the rapid shot choice...
Lolol Lyste getting thoroughly embarrassed by Leia.
Fun fact: One of the Hammerheads they gathered here in this episode would later go on to be the one that landed THE decisive blow to one of the Star Destroyers guarding the shield gate at Scarif.
PIECE BY PIECE, REBELS SHOWS THE MINUTIA OF SACRIFICES NEEDED TO PUT EVERY ELEMENT INTO PLACE FOR THEIR ULTIMATE VICTORY.
Ryder enters with Ezra, did Ezra have any kind of hand in convincing him to fight for Lothal?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE LOOKS DIRECTLY AT EZRA I THINK THERE'S A CASE TO BE MADE HERE.
The Force Theme soaring into prominence here as we close out.
This episode is just the kind of break we need to process the events of the previous episode. Leia is almost flawless, willy deflecting suspicion off herself while playing the Imperials all for fools, compassionate and empathetic when she senses someone in pain and turmoil.
Ezra is allowed to grieve throughout the episode, and displays a myriad of conflicted and complex emotions from scene to scene. Kanan almost takes a bit of a backseat to comforting him, letting all the others express sympathy in turn, giving him the space he needs and offering up the distraction of the mission. He handles Ezra really well, all things considered.
It helps that Ezra, unlike Anakin, chooses to deal with and channel his grief in a productive way, rather than destructive. (I have the tag "#ezra is the anti-anakin" for a reason.)
This is a fun episode. Lighter than the previous one, lower stakes, but needed to let the characters breathe and process through the revelations of the plot. I really like it.
We're about to hit the Golden Streak, so stay tuned, I will have more to say later.

Sorry if this ends up overwhelming you and if it does, feel free to ignore them. I’m just bored and curious. 👉👈😅
Which character do you think had the most potential in the Harry Potter series and do you plan on implementing any of your ideas into them?
If DSMSG Draco was locked in a room with Umbridge, Lockhart, and Voldemort and had a gun with two bullets, who would he choose to shoot?(totally not stolen from The Office)
I think you may or may have not mentioned this earlier and feel free to ignore this question if it’s a spoiler, but when does Harry begin having feelings for Draco/act on them?
no worries, i wanted a distraction from my work anyway lol
In terms of potential, I'm not quite sure. My first thought was Draco (Duh) mostly because I wish so badly that they kept the scene in the final movie where he threw his wand to Harry. That alone would probably do so much for his character, and I am very likely going to do something with it in the fic. Plus the whole really weird hug with Voldy thing, kinda seems like Voldy is trying to have a relationship with him that parallels Harry and Dumbledore's. Anyway, Draco's SO uncomfortable all the time in 7th, it makes me very excited to get to it :) I also think Narcissa is pretty interesting since she kinda parallels Lily, and the fact she lied to the Dark Lord TO HIS FACE and protected Harry...I know I make Narcissa out to be just a very overbearing mother (and bad cook) but I hope to make Draco see the other sides to her later on, when he gets his head out of his ass. For now, she's sort of just comic relief, but there are some things set up in the very first years that will come back in the later years.
(also i REALLY need to add neville in some more--thematically he's super important, but he just doesn't get that much screen time yet. I'll have to think more about how to integrate him, but definitely he will appear more in 3rd w/ other characters. Other characters I plan to include are Cedric, Luna, maybe Cho? Marietta, probably, for the whole traitor thing in the 5th book, and ofc Pansy and Zabini, though those two are the flattest in the books so I'm gonna have to make up a lot of stuff lol. gotta add in sirius obvs [he's actually my favorite, which was why he was not-malfoy's fave in the old version], and remus [also we gotta discuss the werewolf in the room, with the whole snape prank thing...])
Draco would probably blackmail Lockhart into taking the gun and shooting Umbridge twice. He isn't stupid enough to try to kill Voldemort with a gun (are the horcruxes around in this hypothetical?also Voldy lived in like. WWII? Although he's ignorant of love magic stuff, he is probably deeply aware of the dangers of Muggle weapons, which maybe relates to his desire to conquer them) but Draco would love Umbridge dead, and he'd want more blackmail on Lockhart lol. The man's main fear is losing his reputation so that's probably a better punishment than death. If it's sixth year Draco he might just shoot himself though
I have mentioned that Draco doesn't want to date as a minor or date minors even if physically the same age due to the weird age gap/time question thing (a really big issue in isekai/transmigration imo, and the bit of this fic that makes me want to just make it platonic--seriously. I read one where this grown man DATED A SEVEN YEAR OLD B/C HE WAS IN A CHILD'S BODY??) but Harry will obviously not be thinking about that since for all he knows, they're both normal kids. You can probably safely assume he starts thinking of romance at the same time as in the books, though obviously his friendship w/ Draco and the whole "it's the nineties and I think I'm gay?!" thing would make him not as proactive about it for a while

13 Books Tag Game
Tagged by @mothmage 🖤
1) The last book I read:
Ghost Of by Diana Khoi Nguyen. This is a book of poetry I read for my Intro to Poetry class - it deals heavily with grief, having been written in the aftermath of the death of the author's brother, and if you like free verse, concrete poems, or stream-of-consciousness-like verse, this would definitely be something to check out. Also Othello by William Shakespeare :3
2) A book I recommend:
If We Were Villains by ML Rio! It's about a bunch of theatre kids going to an arts conservatory to study Shakespeare. People fuck, people do drugs, people get murdered, and like half the cast is gay and repressed about it. The prose is really vivid, and overall, I'm just super impressed with the story and the characters Rio created!
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. I know this is a Vampire Chronicles blog so that seems rather obvious but I truly was captivated by this book. Checking it out from the library was one of the best decisions I ever made.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
I'm going to cheat for this one and do a play instead: Hamlet by William Shakespeare. I first read it in school in junior high, then again on my own my sophomore year of high school, and I've flipped through it several times since then. As much as I love other Shakespeare plays like Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night and Romeo and Juliet, I never seem to run out of things to say about Hamlet. It's just so rich.
5) A book on my TBR:
Ohhhh soooo many sdljkfklfjasklfsjlkjfskl. But my friend gifted me Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M Danforth for my birthday and I figure I should get around to it at some point 😅
6) A book I’ve put down:
A year or two ago, my mother came home from Target with Ramses the Damned: The Reign of Osiris by Anne and Christopher Rice, because she saw our goth mom's name and figured I'd appreciate it since I like the Vampire Chronicles. It's not the first in the series, and I was having a hard time connecting to these random new characters, so I closed the book after a few pages and it's been sitting untouched on my bookshelf ever since 😅
7) A book on my wish list:
Every year for my birthday and Christmas I ask for one or two Shakespeare plays because I want to collect the full set (of all the ones I'm interested in LOL). Next on the list is The Comedy of Errors.
8) A favorite book from childhood:
Ummmm I'm trying to think. I have an abridged version of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott that I read several times in fifth and sixth grade, so I'll go with that. (hilariously, I remember almost nothing about the plot of the book now)
9) A book you would give to a friend:
I'll go with Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen because that is currently the book that I have been badgering my bestie to read lol
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own
The aforementioned Ghost Of but also Girl's Guide to Leaving by Laura Villareal, also something I read for my poetry class, and also something I would totally recommend!
11) A nonfiction book you own:
So many, mostly for school. Gender: Ideas, Interactions, Institutions by Lisa Wade and Myra Marx Feree (3rd edition) is something I bought for my sociology of gender class a few semesters ago, and I would highly recommend! It is very enlightening and full of interesting facts.
12) What are you currently reading:
Blood Canticle by Anne Rice! It's wacky as fuck but you know what, I'm actually enjoying myself. I just haven't gotten very far because I'm super busy with school this semester so I haven't had as much time to read for pleasure sadtoad.jpg
13) What are you planning on reading next?
The next play my Shakespeare class is reading is The Taming of the Shrew, so I guess technically that sfdasffasdf. For VC, I'll move on to Prince Lestat after finishing BCan.

I was reminded that the 1993 Topps Marvel trading cards had Unsolved Mysteries of the Marvel Universe and I just had to check if we've solved them in the intervening 30 years.
Tumblr media
Starting off we’ve got the longest running mystery, but as with all of these the big question is “what were you hoping to find out?” We’ve seen Doom’s unscarred face in flashbacks and healed in the 1980s Secret Wars, but it was only in 2015’s reimagining of Secret Wars that we see what really lives under the mask. It’s nasty! A real “dead dove do not eat” moment.
Tumblr media
This one I’m surprised was a mystery since it’s so well known now. When Cable first showed up he was a warrior from the future, but it wasn’t until 1994’s The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix that it was revealed that he was the time traveling son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey. Well, kinda... you see he’s actually the son of Scott and Jean’s clone Madeline and… go ask Jay and Miles if you want the X-Men X-Plained.
Tumblr media
This is the one that got me started on this mess. Darkhawk wasn’t a huge character so this sort of went unresolved but also who cared? Basically when Chris Powell turns into Darkhawk his whole body is replaced by a drone robot from these space hawk warriors. Turns out the whole thing that freaked him out was that underneath the helmet it revealed that he wasn’t even human in that form. And yet, as far as I know we’ve never got a clear look at what he saw.
Tumblr media
Hoo boy was this a mystery in 1993? So for background in 1990 we got Danny Ketch as the new Ghost Rider. He was more chains and leather than Johnny Blaze, the Evel Knievel-esque original. The mystery in question is “where did he get his powers and are they from the same demon Zarathos as the original?" After spending time too many wiki pages, I can now say that Danny was revealed to be Johnny Blaze’s secret brother and not powered by Zarathos. Looks like Danny at some point swapped his bike for a buster sword and started calling himself Death Rider. lol
Tumblr media
This one is easy! It’s Thanos! Thanos is the sixth member! It got revealed in The Warlock Chronicles during Infinity Crusade. This mystery didn’t make it out of 1993.
Tumblr media
Oh hey it’s my least favorite Spider-Man topic! That his parents were killed by the fake communist Red Skull is pointless at best. That they were seemingly brought back only to be revealed as Spider-Slayer robots is somehow worse. That whole mess got resolved in 1994 as a plot from The Chameleon. It’s right before the Clone Saga. Ugh!
Tumblr media
This one is a case of dragging it out so long that no answer would be good enough. In 2001’s “Origin” we finally found out that Logan’s real name is James Howlett and he was born in late-19th-century Canada. The Logan name comes from James’ maybereal father from an affair and definite first bone claw stabbing victim Thomas Logan. This is all fine but I 100% of the time confuse “James Howlett” with “Jamie Hewlett” the artist who draws The Gorillaz.
Tumblr media
A major thread in 90s X-Men was that Bishop came from a future where an X-Man had betrayed the team and ruined the future. He was pretty suspicious of Gambit in particular and there were hints based on this guy named The Witness that seemed to be Gambit from the future. All that got dropped when Charles Xavier became Onslaught and turned on everyone. Bishop even kind of got to save the day in that story. I guess it all worked out.
Tumblr media
It’s our final X-Men mystery and the answer lies in one of the worst received X-Men stories of ALL-TIME! So your first thought should be “he’s a mutant what do you mean origin?” Okay, so starting in 1981 there were hints that Mystique was Nightcrawler’s mom. That started because people say they look the same. That’s a pretty wild thing to say since she has blue skin and he has blue fur and also she’s a shapeshifter so the idea of her real form is iffy at best. Well, it turns out Claremont wanted Mystique to have shapeshifted into a fella and been the father not the mother. Biologically speaking. He didn’t get to write that story, so instead Chuck Austen wrote The Draco…
I can’t believe this is going to a 2nd paragraph but here goes. Mystique in disguise as the wife of a German baron named Christian Wagner, but got pregnant by a mysterious Herr Azazel. The kid comes out blue and her charade is exposed. Flash forward to present day and Nightcrawler is investigating Isla des Demonas and he finally meets dear old dad. Azazel reveals himself to be a literal satan from the Brimstone Dimension. This very nearly broke Nightcrawler’s whole character. Instead of a kind man who is hated because of his appearance, he is a literal son of a demon. Don’t get me started on the woman who adopted Kurt. She’s green and has horns.
That's all the mysteries! If you think I got something wrong about X-Men then yes you're probably right. If there's a secret Darkhawk reveal I couldn't find them please please share it.

Here's some spoilers and discussion about my initial thoughts on Kingdom Hearts 2 below.
Nearing the end of my KH2 journey... I'd say this has probably been my favorite game so far, out of KH1, CoM, and now this. Overall, I'd say I like the composition of the story of CoM a tad more, but goddamn if the intro and outro haven't gone especially hard on KH2 (also has just generally been littered with several moments that have made the characters very endearing). And the gameplay... woo, actually is super fun. I love the love put into the reaction commands, and every fight is like a movie.
I got past the Roxas fight after like... 40+ tries, and was regretting immensely I decided to play in Proud mode. Never got frustrated at my boy, though- was just filled with respect, and it's seriously the best fight in the franchise thus far for me for giving well designed attacks that I felt were effectively telegraphed. I'm not quite sure how/why Roxas led Sora into what I assume was an internal battle, since he already seemed reabsorbed within Sora's being, but I can only assume Axel's sacrifice (since that happened right before this fight) must've reawoken him, in a way ("Tell me why 'he' chose you!") Poor Roxas has been having his life stolen. The Nobody dehumanization is such shit, dude. Roxas banging on Sora's braced keyblade over and over with that level of ferocity is fueled by such obvious rage that it's undeniable. God, he's living in my head unapologetically.
Meanwhile Xigbar was also... a fight. Less filled with respect, more frustrated about that one, lol. (I thought the sniper mechanics were pretty sick, though. Felt like I was doing Orbonne Monastary in FFXIV again). Can't help but assume several of these Organization members may maintain relevance in future installments in some way, since several seemed to have implied information/backstory that remained unrevealed prior to their disappearance (looking at you, Xigbar [casually referencing that there's been other Keyblade wielders before dying with zero explanation] and Saïx). The next game, 358/2 Days, looks like it's dealing with the Organization in what I assume is a prequel, so maybe backstory will be there?
Kairi and Riku have made my heart warm, and the whole trio's love for each other is honestly so sweet. I keep thinking about their reunion scenes and it's just... aaa, I feel crazy about it. When Kairi lowered Riku's hood and saw the face of Xehanort's Heartless and Riku looked so ashamed (then it cut away?? how dare), when Riku shielded Kairi with his body from Saïx's attack, when Kairi hugged Sora and said "this is real" because 😭 girl your abandonment issues and unachievable desire for constancy are making me feel things, and she's been struggling with the phantom sensation of forgetting someone she cared about for an entire y e a r, so having that confirmation... man. *Staring out to the ocean*
Felt so bad for her that Sora was so awkward about the hug she deeply needed, and didn't even realize the absence of the music until Sora reunited with Riku. 😂 And... oh my god, haha, that part got me. Not surprised that the Sixth Sense kid can pack a gut punch, ofc, he's got a long history of films making me weep, but like... "I looked for you! I looked everywhere for you!" While Sora was crying on his k n e e s and grasping Riku's hand like a lifeline was such amazing emotional payoff. Like, I've been joking with friends about Sora's unwavering "Riku, Riku, Riku" throughout the entire game, but damn if that didn't do a good job of making me invested via Sora, goddamn. I'm so happy my kid gets to see his silver haired punk again. And wowie, they're such a power duo? Their limit break "Eternal Session" is legitimately one of my favorite limit breaks alongside Vincent Valentine's "Satan Slam," from FF7 now. The synchrony of the dance where they pass off the weapons to each other, smooth as butter? Them going "back to back" between the different phases of their LB? (Which is adding to my evaluation of the poems from CoM I've had in the back of my head the entire damn game, by the way...) The clash of their keyblades, and the duality red-blue color scheme? Be still, my artistic heart, they're too much. For this, and the honestly impressive expression and facial rigging for what is a PS2 game, I want to give the animators a smooch.
All I want now is to know where tf Riku pulled Kairi's Keyblade from, and how she's apparently a chosen wielder too. Like, okay??? But where? How?
Oh, also would like Riku to see someone about his hand, that doesn't look too comfortable. My guy can be a badass all he wants, but if he doesn't drink his milk, put an actual cast around his wrist, and bit of work leave off from world-saving shenanigans, he's gonna be a certified hero with post-traumatic arthritis 10~ years down his little road to dawn. Apparently working for Ansem the Wise doesn't provide great health coverage.

Have a lil’ drawing collection of a character I’m currently using for a Pokemon Mystery Dungeons RP group over on my DeviantArt :>
Her name is Norah, she’s a Scraggy, and I can’t wait ‘til future missions/jobs/events in the RP group so I can continue with her story and read other peoples’ stories of their characters <3
First drawing (drawn July 12th 2021) - Just a random drawing I wanted to do, got no more context than that :’)
Second drawing (drawn January 18th 2022) - Around this point, I was trying to slightly redesign how I drew her (I’ll probably post some of her mission/job/event drawings later, where you’ll see how I drew her before. Tldr; I hate how Scraggy’s legs actually are, so I said fuck that). And honestly, I really liked how she ended up looking like in the end! :>
Third drawing (drawn January 22nd 2022) - At the time, I was doing a (mostly written) Q’n’A that was aimed towards Norah. In one of the questions, she was asked what her favorite book or story was. To which she answered Beauty and the Beast, which she read a lot with her childhood friend (which she realized during her adventure in this RP group that she actually had a one-sided crush on). That pokemon being a Steenee named Annabelle.
Fourth drawing (drawn January 22nd 2022) - Another one of the Q’n’A drawings that was a simple “Do you like burgers or fries more?” And you can probably guess which she liked more lol
Fifth drawing (drawn Febuary 3rd 2022) - This one was a redraw of an old drawing where Norah was just sleeping while resting on a big Dragonite plushie. So I decided to add a shiny Dragonair plushie and a Dratini plushie too in the redraw :]
Sixth drawing (drawn March 5th 2022) - Another random drawing. Nothing much to say again qvq
Seventh drawing (drawn November 6th 2022) - Since it was starting to become winter, I just wanted to draw Norah in a scarf. That’s all o(-(
Bonus drawing (drawn Febuary 21st 2022) - For y’all that kept reading, I did make a few drawings of Norah just doing the PMD expression pics that are in the games. ‘Cause it could possibly be used in future stories~.

I SEE YOU OUT HERE VINNIE!!!!! so you already know i have gotta ask,
WHAT IS YOUR FAVE UNDERRATED KAGEROU MOMENT?!!
WHOA a lot of energy hey there
UMMM underrated... i wouldn't know what is an underrated moment or not but some of my favorites are, in no particular order
the shinene goodbye in second manga route. like i do dislike this route but BWAHHH BWAHHHHH BWAHHHH THIS SHIT GETS ME SO BAD MAN SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF like iam pretty pissed THIS route where ene didnt Really know shintaro pre ene like in the main route like that so important to what makes their dynamic so insane yknow what i mean ugh *kicks second manga route* but whatever that scene is 10/10 and in my sick twisted mind this 10000% happens post str too. minus saying goodbye and takane dying yknow. i want these bitches to break down to each other bc they were the only thing they had for over a year and for shintaro to tell takane thank you for being by my side and all that shit and they sob together for an hour and how awkward the aftermath would be
ERM. another shintaro and takane moment but more a takane one. seventh novel confrontation. that whole chapter has my heart but specifically when takane gets teary eyed over kenjirou being clearing and having killed her and haruka. and kano reassuring her it is safe to love the person he was at home and at school and takane cheering up and going yeah he's still a really good guy (goes crazy) and i love that shintaro inner comment is being relieved when she cheers up and if he could help it he'd like to avoid seeing her sad again LOL (the whole chapter he's like SHE'S THE DEVIL SHE IS A DEMON SHE NEEDS TO SINK BACK TO HELL WHERE SHE CAME FROM then she tears up for 30 seconds and he's like WHAT THE FUCK MAKE IT STOP) they are bestfriends ur honor
sixth novel when haruka admits to having feelings for takane. this one is DEFINITELY underrated like i BARELY ever see ppl talk abt it like GIRL ITS RIGHT THERE WHAT IS WRONG WITH U. its generally very cute not only cuz of harutaka but because of shintaro and haruka being bestfriends because haruka realises thru yeah shintaro is my friend!!! but then goes into how calling takane a friend doesn't feel entirely right and "gives him a bad aftertaste in his throat... oh, so it's that kind of thing" i love that both haruka and takane have the "i wonder why" line when it comes to being unable to identify why is it that they feel so inclined to each other. it is so special to me too that haruka identifies his feelings by himself and the only reason he keeps them at bay is his health the fact he will die so what even is the point in indulging in his feelings for her. AUGH. i wanna die. i need ppl to talk abt this bit more. especially since i consider the harutaka bit in the lost day hour comic a callback since haruka wasnt gonna include takane in his interviews. like (tears hair off) WHY DIDNT HE WANT TO. he was all like "uhh yeah i got 1 more person to ask but...." and then takane's the one to be like i still havent given u my answer "oh yeah i was thinking of asking you but..." But what you fucking loser. why do you keep saying but. sorry im so normal abt the harutaka in lost day hour
another one i like is novel 6 when kenjirou calls haruka on the phone (goes crazy) their bond drives me so crazy kenjirou is just collecting kids he is such a good dad i was going crazy over this last night like im so sad he's dead in str like my man you have 4 kids STAY ALIVEEEE GET OUT OF THEREEEEEE *ugly crying*um. yeah. novel 6 revealing the iconic yuukei yesterday bit where kenjirou forces haruka and takane to organize a booth in 1 weeks time wasnt really bc of the principal/administrator/whatever but bc he knew haruka wanted it and needed an excuse to get takane moving therefore get haruka moving. if he only told haruka, haruka would laugh it off and be like noooo but if he Forces takane then she will beat sense into haruka for him. it just says so much abt kenjirous character to me. he is extremely caring but sort of hands off in a way, but when he needs to. he knows how haruka is that's why he used that approach. IT MAKES ME CRAZY adoptive dad for real. also remember how haruka wakes up in the daze already seeing through konohas eyes and sees his dear teacher all sneering being like MAN WHAT A PAIN THESE 2 WERE TO KILLLLL omg konoha ur awake lol look!!! and shows him takanes dead body. GIRL. CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT HARUKA WAS FEELING AT THAT MOMENT. the only adult he ever trusted and could confide in + his last thoughts before dying (aside from being like I DONT WANNA FUCKING DIEEEE) is a goodbye to takane and how she has to be happy and live a long life with all the people she will meet even if without him. and then he sees she is dead killed by this man he trusted so much. girl. *succumbs into despair*
UMMMM yeah those are a few of my favorites. i got a ton more tho. every haruka and takane moment is a favorite too.

well, when it comes to andor, dark, and the swarm, i like literally everything lol
like, i think i'd actually count all three as some of my favorite shows because they're just so good, no matter from what point you look at it. writing??? amazing. plot??? amazing. characters??? amazing. cinematography??? amazing. acting??? amazing.
i mean, i'm in no way an actual expert, this is more personal interest and experience than anything else but by god, i just think these shows are fucking incredible and they left a lasting impact on me in multiple ways.
also omg since you mentioned it, i can't believe i forgot to list doctor who???? wonderful show, i love it so so much. do you have, like, a favorite era or doctor???
but please do go on about interconnectedness (just not to the point of crying please), i love to hear your thoughts!! :D
they sound like really interesting shows :D if I ever find the time to check them out, I'll let you know :3
omg doctor who it's such a good show. growing up, my favorite doctor was always the 11th doctor (amy was one of my favorite companions, too, and ofc I loved river and she was mostly around when the 11th doctor was around). as I've gotten older I kinda have less favorites if that makes sense lol. really like 12 and really like 10. um, unpopular opinion, but I really like 13 as well. like, I don't know, she has characteristics reminiscent of past doctors but is also very much her own doctor, y'know? I also adore yaz as a companion. in terms of the episodes themselves and the plotlines there, probably 10-11 era, but in terms of doctors my favorites are 11 and 13, I'd say. really really good show though and honestly there's so many interesting parts of it and good episodes from all the seasons.
what about you? do you have a favorite era or doctor??
as for interconnectedness.. I know people always talk about how humans are social creatures, but I feel like it expands beyond that, y'know? everything is connected. long ago stars exploded and those explosions created the elements that we're made of. something incredibly improbable happened to create the moon (because the earth-moon dynamic is very very weird and unlike any other planet-satellite dynamic in the solar system), and because of the moon life was able to form and evolve the way it did on the earth. 2000 years ago people looked up at the sky and created constellations and the zodiac system, and we still use that today despite the position of the sun relative to the constellations has shifted since then.
on a smaller scale—people have always just been people. and they were just living their lives, and yet somehow it all has lead to here and now. and, still, we're just people living our lives. and now we have the capability of being able to connect with people literally across the globe, and isn't that beautiful? that distance isn't as big of a barrier anymore?
and there's someone growing up in the house I grew up on. there's history there—my parents built that house when I was a baby, and my grandma painted my bedroom walls, and I experienced so much there. and now that house is watching another kid grow up and maybe the walls have been re-painted, but the original paint is still there, just hidden. and there are scratch marks on the wall from my now deceased childhood dog because he was just a puppy and not well trained yet when we got him.
and the child growing up there doesn't know any of that, and yet, in some way, we are connected because of it.
and I still think about the best friend I had in kindergarten and my best friend in elementary school and the friends I had in middle school. actually, speaking of doctor who, I had a middle school teacher who was doing a collage project in the ceiling of her classroom. basically it was a bunch of clouds and pictures of the sky. but, there was a little trio of sixth graders (me and two other girls) who loved doctor who. so, our teacher added a bunch of pictures of the TARDIS on the ceiling so that we could try to count them all (we never could). that ceiling is still there, even if I don't talk to those other two girls anymore.
it's just—everything is so connected. you're only a couple people away from any given person. it's crazy to me. and, another thing that's baffling. I wonder how many times I've been in the same room with the same stranger. because I don't remember all the strangers I see, but maybe I've sat in a train with the same stranger I sat on a bus with 5 years prior. maybe I passed a friend on the street years before we ever met. just, stuff like that is wild to me.
I don't want this to get too long, so I'm just going to make one more point: isn't it beautiful how, in the age of globalization, despite all the shortcomings, we've also found new ways to love?
Bare with me, but I'm going to very very briefly talk about parasocialism. Because, for example, Dream is always saying he loves his fans. Wilbur, in his last stream, said he loves his fans. and something they've both brought up is the fact that it's not like the love you feel for a friend or family member, but it's love nonetheless. and isn't that kind of beautiful? that it's possible to have love for people across the globe who you don't know? and it's not the same love as the love you have towards someone you know, but it's love all the same. and the same applies to social media. I love my mutuals. other people are always posting about how they love their mutuals. sometimes that evolves into an actual genuine friendship, and sometimes it doesn't. whatever it is, it's still love and care, and I just think it's really beautiful how deeply we can care about people we've never met and may never meet.
Okay, signing off here. I just love humanity and space and sometimes I'm just really full of love.

there were so many numbers I'm just gonna say- 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55
Alright let me get the questions lol.
5. have you ever made a playlist about something you were writing as an elaborate means to procrastinate when you could have been actually writing and if yes drop a link, son
I have! I think I might have an Alura playlist and a Nellura one specifically too, but sadly I can't share them because they're on my Apple Music account, which has personal information. (I know this person irl though, so maybe I'll DM it to her.) I'll make a playlist for Sazanka on Youtube soon, though, because I have a lot of good songs for that.
15. where do you share your writing?
Wattpad, AO3, and Fanfiction.net! Follow me there! I have more books planned and Lord willing someday I'll finish Alura. I recommend you follow my Wattpad most since I also post original fiction there on occasion.
25. what’s your revision or rewriting process like?
It's extremely tedious, lol. I almost always rewrite the first draft completely - it rarely keeps much of the same plot from start to finish, especially if it's a long book. Sometimes I have to rewrite it many times (Starwalker I had to rewrite twice, and Seraphite is on its sixth incomplete draft!). After I have my "working draft," I add/delete scenes, reword sentences, and fix grammar before sending it off to betas. Then after I get feedback, I apply it and do another round of edits before it hits the shelves!
35. tell us about a character who’s very different than you who you love a whole lot
Okay, so I have to do two. A character that I love a whole lot that is absolutely nothing like me is Toga from My Hero Academia. We do have some things in common, admittedly, because her story is an autism allegory much like a lot of characters' in that show. But she's far more extroverted than me, her social ineptitude is a matter of choice for the most part, and I obviously don't have her fascination with blood. But she's the absolute best and I wish Hori could write romance because she deserves a crusty boyfriend, I'm just sayin'!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other one is Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs. I'm a very blunt, literal person, and Dazai is so NOT. He's such a troll and he keeps lowkey flirting with Fyodor Dostoevsky and he's so funny. (I also like Fyodor for that matter, he's also hilarious and a terrifyingly competent villain.)
Tumblr media
45. name three of your favorite fanfic writers.
You
@seokjynerso
Anyone who provides me with yummy Shigatoga food

Hi! I found you because of Velvet Goldmine, but now I find out you like the Beatles and used to write for them? I'm intrigued, if you're willing to disclose that.
"In Berlin" is the best thing. I'm obsessed with the three of them, and. It really hurts at times, and then there's Jack and a cup of tea, or a soft word, the willingness to be patient, and to talk out anything. He's such a darling. I love Curt in your writing, too. How he's trying and him trying is enough even though it's really not perfect. My heart has broken a couple of times while reading, because you write them so well. And you bring realness to these characters, to their emotions. You don't simplify it. Curt's feelings about Brian are complex. He doesn't just hate him. And what he feels won't go away in just a couple of days. And Mandy is a sweetheart. She deserved better. They all deserved better. Curt and Jack together in Berlin was so intriguing to me, when I watched it. I wanted more of it, and I was left wondering what could have happened for them (mostly Curt, I admit) to be at the place of releasing that album after all that went down. I also found it interesting how you were writing about Brian after his fake death. I've been curious about how Curt and Jack and Mandy really reacted to that after. And his flower stunt was such a Brian thing to do. Anyway. Just a lot of random thoughts.
I'm so curious to "These Vintage Years". First of all, you get Velvet Goldmine so well. All of the characters, their lifestyle, their complicated feelings. Second, more of Curt? (And maybe more of Mandy and Jack, even if a little?). Third of all, Arthur. I actually really like him. He's sort of the easiest character to relate to. Because he was a fan. So starstruck with these apparently bigger-than-life artists that the toxicity of it all just pulls him closer, actually. His curiosity lingers anyway, and it might just kill the cat (or his relationship with Curt, it seems). I like them together. Do you? I'm all for them being complicated, though. And fifth or sixth, I don't know anymore: Shannon. I'm weirdly, very, very curious about her. What the fuck happened to that woman. She begun so differently. And why was she crying about Curt and Brian? And maybe you'll be touching more on how Brian became Tommy Stone? Seeing that through a modern lens, it seems kind of unbelievable he could have pulled it off for as long as he did. Honestly, it hasn't been long since I've watched Velvet Goldmine and, if left me curious to more, you know? I wanted to know more about everything that was explicit or implict in that movie. So I'm really glad for your writing.
Hi Anon! Thank you so much for this message - I was reading it at the dinner table and grinning to myself hoping my family wouldn't notice lol. I'm gonna respond to your random thoughts as best as I can, but also feel free to message me if you ever want to discuss any of these things more.
First of all, yes, I did once write Beatles fic. It's on Wattpad, and it's highly cringe, because I started it when I was 14 (and never finished either of the two things I started). The Beatles are still my absolute favorite band and I still love reading Beatles fic, but I'm no longer interested in writing it, and the stuff I wrote is just so childish that I'd rather not share it here. It's still up on Wattpad, but I don't feel up to bringing that era of my fangirl-ness into this era lol. Very grateful, however, for having written it and for all the people that read it!
Your thoughts on "In Berlin" make me so happy. I wrote this fic because, like you, I wanted to know more about that period. How do we get from Curt leaving Brian to the Curt we see at Death of Glitter? The one that hugs Mandy in the wings? How do he and Jack meet? Or do they already know each other? How do they decide to work on a record together? How does everyone react to Brian's fake assassination? I needed those questions answered for myself. It's so wonderful to hear that you appreciate the emotion in the characters, and that you said it felt so real and un-simple. Hearing things like that make me feel so accomplished as a fanfic writer; these things I imagined and tried to bring to the page are actually coming across? That's insane.
You're so right - Curt, Jack, and Mandy all deserved better. They deserve to heal, and they deserve happiness and love and family. They're my favorite characters to write for (especially Curt) for that reason specifically. I get sad boi hours with them, but also so much tenderness and sweetness that they don't get to exhibit in the movie.
As to "These Vintage Years," I agree with you wholeheartedly about all the questions and plot points. How does Arthur's relationship with the 70s counter with Curt's, and how does that affect their relationship? (Don't worry, they'll definitely be together, because Ewan McGregor said so in a tweet. That's canon now.) I think Arthur and Curt is such an interesting relationship to explore particularly because of how different their experiences of the 70s were. I also am very curious about Shannon. There's so much there to unpack. The only problem is, for some reason right now I'm not feeling motivated to work on this story, so it'll unfortunately have to linger for a while. In the meantime, I started working (yesterday!) on another Curt/Jack/Mandy (aka The Berlin Polycule, as a few of us on here have dubbed it) story. That one might be out relatively soon because my brain is currently very invested in it. No promises though :)
One of the gifts of Velvet Goldmine is how many threads there are to pull. Todd Haynes injected so much detail into the movie, whether it's the characters, the costumes, the background sets, etc. There's just so much to dig into, and thus so much fodder for fanfic. I'm so glad my writing gave you an opportunity to explore the VG world some more, and I hope you dig through all the amazing fic that's out there, because what the VG fandom lacks in numbers, it more than makes up for in incredibly high-quality storytelling. Last year, before I started writing, I spent days just going through each fic I could find, and it was so much fun. I'd also recommend The Whole Shebang, a minute-by-minute podcast of the movie, because the hosts' deep look into the film definitely fueled my interest in it.
Thank you again for such a thoughtful and sweet message! I'm always down to talk about Velvet Goldmine - literally nothing would make me happier!

Note
So Annie, I lied earlier about 5 fandoms, because I just remembered a sixth one lol
I mean, you *have* to tell me about Achilles and Patroclus from The Song of Achilles, after all!
Achilles and Patroclus
1: sexuality headcanon
Need you ask? They're gay, your Honor (and European!)😂
2: otp
With each other <3
... though, to be fair, I'm not opposed to a good Achilles/Patroclus/Briseis story at all, that polycule has so much potential.
3: brotp
With Briseis (especially Patroclus) because she's OP and I love her and she deserved SO much better.
4: notp
Not thrilled about any other pairing but, um Agamemnon or Thetis, I suppose, those would be a hard pass for me.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
I'm very much in the "TSOA happens before the main Hades storyline" camp now.
On a more humorous note: Chiron had to take each of them aside and give them The Talk. No one had a fun time that week, least of all the centaur.
6: favorite line from this character
"Name one hero who was happy. You can't."
"We were like gods at the dawning of the world."
7: one way in which I relate to this character
I mean yes, sometimes all you want to do is get under a blanket and stay in bed instead of having to deal with your entitled, annoying co-worker making a mess of things xD
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Once more, with feeling: My girl Briseis deserved better, Achilles you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Patroclus is a cinammon roll who puts up with so much. Achilles is more of a problematic fave due to all the anger, pride and being such an ass towards Briseis (no, I'm not letting that go).
