Everyone's entitled to their own secrets; there's nobody in the world that doesn't have at least one secret.
Some people have small secrets such as not liking a certain food but saying they like to please the other person. Others don't have such sweet secrets.
The darkest secret you have is the fact you slit your ex's tire once after she cheated on you, it's not insanely dark or even cool, it's simply just a secret that you don't want people to know about.
Yet there's people in your life that hold such darker secrets, ones that could never be revealed to anyone; not even their most loyal loved ones.
Unbeknownst to you that person is Sam Carpenter, your girlfriend of over a year.

Me (17:29pm): i'll get started on dinner soon then?
Sammy<3 (17:32pm): Yes please. Hopefully I'll be done soon with my shift and can hopefully even help you a bit with the cooking! 👩‍🍳😊
Me (17:33pm): maybe i'll postpone for a bit then
Sammy<3 (17:33pm): No, start cooking. You need to eat and Derek is a bastard who won't let me off early anyways 😂😂
Me (17:34pm): fineeeee
Me (17:34pm): see you soon then, love you <33
Sammy<3 (17:36pm): I love you too, Y/n ❤️
Me (18:12pm): i finished making dinnerrrr:))
Me (18:22pm): sammmm
Me (18:29pm): sam?
Me (18:31pm): please answer me sam, where tf are you?? ik you finish your shift at six
Me (19:06pm): Sam this isn't funny, please answer my calls.
You bite your bottom lip nervously as you reread over the messages hoping to see that small bubble pop up any second.
Sure traffic was a reasonable reason to why Sam's late but she'd always message you after finishing her shift at work.
Sam's one of those people who never leaves the house without her phone being higher than 80%, meaning her phone being dead wouldn't explain it. She always made sure it had more than enough battery in case Tara or you called her and there was an emergency
So why the fuck isn't Sam answering your texts? You can't help but worry after everything that's happened to the poor woman and her family with Ghostface.
You've already tried calling her three times to no avail. Nervously you switch over to Tara's contact as your thumb hovers over the call button, debating whether you should ask her if she's seen Sam or not.
If Tara hasn't seen her and Sam is in fact just running incredibly late then you're just going to worry the younger Carpenter for no reason.
"Fuck." You mumbled to yourself as you lowered your thumb to dial Tara, deciding it's worth the risk.
Just as you're about to press down you hear the doorknob to your front door jangle, immediately you whip your head around to see Sam entering calmly.
You drop your phone and rush over to her throwing your arms around her desperately as you cling to her.
Sam doesn't say anything as she slowly raises her hand to your back, rubbing it up and down slowly.
"Where were you, Sam? I thought something had happened." You say worriedly as you pull away staring into your eyes intently, noticing a glimmer in her eyes that you have never seen before.
Her eyes looked darker, almost a lustful look in them.
She sighed as she smiled apologetically. "Some girl puked all over the place so I had to clean it up so I wasn't done till six thirty, then my phone died so I couldn't text you."
You ponder for a second on the possibility of Sam's phone actually being dead since the messages and calls went through, meaning it would be impossible for her phone to be dead.
Biting your tongue you nod as you smile at Sam, just relieved to have her here.
"Okay, glad you're safe then. I've made a plate for you so you just need to reheat it." Sam grins as she presses a quick kiss to your cheek making your ear burn just as they did the very first time they kissed you.
"You're the best." She says and you chuckle giving a weak smirk. "I know right, the best girlfriend."
Sam pulls away from you as well, finally giving you a proper look of her. You tilt your head confused as you notice the baggy black hoodie she's wearing, practically devouring her and hiding her arms and upper body.
"You didn't leave wearing that this morning." You comment mindlessly as you grab the end of the sleeve, rolling your fingers around the soft texture.
Sam stiffens as she roughly pulls her arm away from your grip, crossing her arms over her chest. You frown at her abruptness.
"It was in the trunk of my car." Sam replies dismissively with a wave of her hand before turning to enter your room.
You remain where you stand a little frown toying on your lips. What was that about? You thought as you glanced at the doorway to your bedroom, the light being flickered on by Sam.
"I'm just gonna take a shower real quick then I can eat dinner and we can watch some movies?" You hear Sam yell from your room also hearing the erratic movement from her as you walk closer.
Leaning on the doorway you see Sam placing her phone, car keys and work badge on the dresser.
"Want me to reheat your food for you?" You suggest with a smile. Sam nodded her head as she turned to face you, placing a gentle kiss to your forehead this time as she whispered, "I love you so much." before passing you and locking herself in the bathroom.
A few moments later you hear the loud sound of the shower water hitting the bottom of the tub before it gets muffled by Sam entering the shower.
Against your better judgement you glance back into the room where Sam's phone is kept, the desperate urge to check it gnawing at you.
You didn't want to snoop through it, no, you just wanted to see if she was lying or not. Which you basically already knew she was.
You glance back at the bathroom door before rushing into the room to look at Sam's phone.
Reaching the drawer you picked up her phone and to your horror the movement of you picking it up lights the screen up.

Sam's phone wasn't dead.
She lied to you.
Sam wouldn't cheat on you, right? No, Sam would never. She loves you too much for that.
Right?
Shaking your head in hopes of getting rid of those thoughts you place Sam's phone back into its original position, staring at it before leaving the room to reheat Sam's plate of food.
You trust Sam with your life and more and don't believe she's cheating on you since she's already quite possessive and protective of you after Ghostface.
After placing the plate into the microwave you move back into the living room, dropping down onto the couch with a sigh as you wrap your fingers around the TV remote, pressing the on button.
The TV started up and immediately you were introduced to the loud male voice of the news reporter. You pulled out your phone and didn't pay much attention till you heard him utter a line that made your blood run cold.
"-two male victims stabbed to death near Parker Street, the police have no lead suspects as of now but a CCTV footage has been leaked showing the brutal murder and the killer wearing the infamous Ghostface costume."
Your eyes widened as you slowly lowered your phone, pushing yourself up the couch as you straightened your posture.
Ghostface is back? It doesn't help that Parker street, that's the street where the bar Sam works at is at.
"Sam!" You yelled and panicked as your eyes remained focused on the screen.
You could hear the shower stopping before moments later the door the bathroom being thrown opened and Sam rushes into the living room soaking wet with a towel wrapped around her body.
"What's wrong?" Your girlfriend asked as she moved to your side, holding your face with a possessive grip as she turned it to the side to see if you were hurt.
You shake your head making her let go and nod towards the TV, Sam takes your hint and turns to focus on the screen.
She's silent for a moment, her breathing eerily calm as her eyes meet with yours.
"Ghostface is gone, we don't have to worry." She says as her hand glides into yours.
Your brows furrowed in confusion as this is a total 180 reaction to how she reacted last time when Tara's classmate was murdered, and it wasn't even confirmed it was Ghostface at that time.
"Sam, the person was literally wearing a Ghostface outfit and two people were murdered on the same block where you work! This cannot be a coincidence." You rush out as you look down at your phone where it lay on the couch.  "We have to call Tara, Mindy and Chad. I'm not letting you all go through this again." You say as you grab your phone but you're stopped by Sam's hand wrapping around your wrist.
Looking up at her confused you see a blank expression on her face, not a panicked look you expected to see.
"This is not our Ghostface, Y/n, calm down, please." Sam replies, moving her hand to interlock with yours with a tight grip.
Your jaw slackens as the crease between your brows gets even bigger.
"A dude in a Ghostface outfit killed two people near where you work, Sam!" You insist on trying to make Sam notice how dire this situation is.
She shakes her head as she shuffles a bit closer, the droplets falling off of her and a few dropping onto you.
"My Ghostface doesn't do random public killing, this is very out of character. It's probably just some psycho who's using it as a disguise, Y/n. It's fine. I'm safe, Tara's safe, the twins are safe and you're safe." You're speechless at Sam's smooth words, never hearing her so calm and confident.
Last year she threatened to move countries instantly when it wasn't even confirmed it was about them.
You let out a humourless chuckle as you shake your head. "And what did Mindy say when Tara was acting like you right now last year? It's a bit too close to home."
Sam shakes her own head as she flashes a smile that never fails to make your heart skip a beat. "You trust me, don't you?"
You let out a barely audible scoff as you nod your head at the question as if it was a stupid question to ask.
"With my life and more Sam." Sam's smile softens as she nods her head gently, as if knowing what you were going to say.
"So trust me on this, my love." She whispers, raising her wet hand to lay on your cheek lovingly. "Please." She adds in a whisper as her thumb runs up and down your cheek slowly.
You maintain eye contact with Sam as you begin to feel yourself getting lost in her dark brown eyes, unconsciously nodding your head slowly.
Sighing you snap out of your trance as you smile weakly at her, squeezing your interlocked hands.
"I trust you."
—————
A few days have passed and the only person other than you who's showing concern over the murders is surprisingly Tara. The girl who was very adamant last year that this almost exact scenario wasn't related to them in any way.
You've been texting her non stop about your worries about the entire situation but you haven't said anything about your concerns about Sam.
She lied to you, sure it was something very niche but with the timing of the murders; something just felt off.
You have also noticed that Sam has been even more loving lately, not that she isn't always wonderful to you, but it's more than usual.
You love the attention but you still can't help but feel that there's something wrong.
It's a Saturday night and Sam's working the night shift again, you're not doing anything special so you decided to sleep in early.
It's around two in the morning when you get awakened by a slam of the door, it immediately sprung you out of sleep since you've always been a light sleeper since the entire Ghostface incident.
You rub your eyes as you slowly sit up, glancing around the room and notice Sam isn't in bed.
Concern runs through your veins immediately as you push yourself off the bed to stand up, your feet hurting the cold floor as you move towards the door. Is it a complete dumb move to investigate the random loud noise? Yes, absolutely. But you can't help but think it's most likely Sam and maybe she's having another one of her attacks.
"Sam?" You yell out softly as you open the door and glance around your small apartment, squinting your eyes to see better in the dark.
There's no sign of Sam but then you notice the light peeking through the bottom of the bathroom door. You definitely didn't leave the bathroom light on.
You head towards the bathroom door and go to open it but it's locked, you frown as your concern grows.
"Sam? Are you there?" You ask as you keep trying to unlock the door but to no use.
A muffled grunt is heard through the door before you hear Sam's raspy voice.
"Go back to bed, Y/n, I'll join you soon." Sam's muffled voice says as another low grunt is heard. That doesn't help your nerves at all.
You can feel your heart pick up a pace as you desperately keep trying to unlock the door.
"Open the door, Sam, please." You beg as you keep trying to open the door, shaking the doorknobs desperately.
"No." Sam says sternly, making you shake your head at her stubbornness. "Sam if you don't unlock this door I swear I'll kick it down. Please open the door."
"No I-" Sam goes silent for a moment before continuing her words. "You can't see me like this, you'll leave me."
"Sam I love you more than anything in this world, if you're hurt I want to see you and help you. Please." You say sincerely as you still your moments on trying to open the door, trying to show Sam how much you care for her.
She doesn't say anything for what feels like an eternity, your fear growing with each passing second as you swallow nervously.
Then you hear it, the door unlocking but Sam doesn't open it for you. Immediately you throw the door open and scan your eyes to find Sam sitting on the edge of the bathtub wearing her usual grey tank top, tight black cargos and thick black boots with bruises and a singular stab wound on her arms.
Your breath hitches as your eyes widen dramatically, your fear about Ghostface attacking Sam again being confirmed.
Sam refuses to make eye contact with you as she sloppily tries to patch herself up, wrapping a bandage around below her shoulder that's already staining with a ruby red shade.
"Let me help." You whisper as you move to stand in front of her knowing in the frenzied state Sam is in she wouldn't tend her wounds properly.
She finally looks up at you and you notice the look of pure fear in her eyes, it breaks your heart.
Sam stiffly nods her head as she lets go of the dirty bandage and lets it fall gracefully onto the floor.
You don't take notice of anything else around you as your entire focus is only on your bleeding girlfriend.
As you focus on the slash below her shoulder you see that she's sterilised it and only needs help with bandaging it up.
You grab a new roll and gently hold onto her elbow for a grip as you begin to tightly wrap the bandage around her wound.
As you keep wrapping enough layers around your eye's unconsciously flicker over to the bathtub, and the moment you see the objects scattered inside you feel your heart drop.
A bloodied knife is peeking out through a thick pile of black which almost looks like a blanket but that isn't what catches your attention. The bloodied Ghostface mask thrown carelessly near what you presume is the cloak is what makes your heart come back to life and rapidly speeds up.
Suddenly everything makes sense.
The lie about her phone being dead when it wasn't, coming home late and the very calm reaction to the murders.
Sam wasn't attacked by the Ghostface on the news; Sam is Ghostface.
You can pull your eyes away from the hollow eyes of the Ghostface mask as you keep bandaging Sam's stab wound up, the feeling of shame making your throat tighten.
Not ashamed of Sam but the fact you don't immediately want to run away. Call the cops or even scream. Instead you stand there as you treated her wound.
"That's enough layers, Y/n." Sam's quiet voice breaks you out of your stare as you avert your eyes back to hers, stilling your hands as you lock with her brown eyes.
Oh those big brown eyes.
Grief swirls around in her eyes as if she's already grieving your relationship; grieving her life.
You take a deep breath as a shaky smile slowly forms on your lips making Sam's eyebrows scrunched together confused.
"I'll never stop loving you." You whisper to her as you finish bandaging her wound up, dropping your hand from her elbow to place on her cheek.
Sam leans into your touch laying her own cold hand over yours, looking up at you with a softer gleam in her eyes.
"I'm not a bad person, I only hurt bad people I promise." Sam whispers in a gravelly voice. You feel some reassurance from that but what shocks you the most is the fact you're not sure if you wouldn't have minded if they were bad or not.
Would it be a sin if you stayed with her? Probably. But killing is most definitely a bigger sin which only makes you think of one thing.

You and her will still be together in the afterlife.
"Let's go to bed, my love." You whisper as you offer Sam your free hand to take to help stand up.
Sam stares at it for a moment before she complies and slides her hand into your hand, a small smile grazing her lips.
Everyone has their secrets and who are you to share them with?

one against all
pairings: Sam carpenter x f!reader
Warnings: fighting, arguments,(I do make it known that reader is “tiny” or at least smaller than the others, breakups, angst, core four not being the BEST friends.
summary: it takes so long to build a relationship but so quick to lose it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today was the day! You were finally gonna see your best friend! Core four and Sam didn’t know her that well but when you invited them to her birthday party they immediately excepted.
“hey Sam you almost ready?” You asked excitedly. You and Sam had got together a while ago and you were so excited for her to meet your best friend.
Sam turned around and smiled. “Of course n/n.” She had just put on her bomber jacket and grabbed her keys.
You had told your friends that it was time to leave for the party and they were all set.
the drive there was already amazing! You guys were really looking forward to getting drunk and feeling good.
you almost felt like your idol, Sidney Prescott.
the radio even played some of everyone’s favorite songs. It already felt like you guys were at the party.
once you guys had got there you were immediately greeted to your friends happy face. She had missed you so much!
“hey! These are my best friends Mindy, Chad, and Tara! Then this is my girlfriend Sam!” You smiled and so did they. After They all sent your friend happy smiles you really thought everything was gonna go well.
half way into the night chad already gotten high with Mindy before she went upstairs with some hot girl that she had met, leaving chad chilling on the couch scrolling through is phone while music played.
Tara had been at first just dancing around awkwardly while making small talk every once in awhile with a random person until she was with someone who she knew was gonna be her friend.
Sam on the other hand…you really didn’t know. Was she actually enjoying this party? Most of the time she just looked around with a cold, almost scowl like expression, keeping her hands on her pockets the whole time.
you were dancing with your friend when one of her favorite songs, “broken clocks” by sza had came on and now you guys were really feeling it, drinking and all.
but you could help but notice Sam in the corner. Was she uncomfortable? Being the good girlfriend you were you decided to tell your friend you’ll be right back before going up to Sam.
Her eyes lifted up slightly from whatever she was looking at and she took a deep breath, clearly annoyed.
“Sam, what’s wrong? You seem irritated or just like you wanna leave.” You’re so confused. Before this you had taken small glances at Sam and at the time she looked fine. What was the matter now.
“nothing. Leave it.” She replied sternly. This was so unlike her to have this kind of attitude with you.
and before you knew it you were wondering if everyone was having a bad night. Just then Mindy had came back down, unbeknownst to you.
“Sam what is wrong? Can anything cheer you up? Maybe…wanna dance?” You gave Sam a hopeful smile. You really couldn’t put your finger on it. Sam wasn’t the jealous type so that was out of the question.
“because I don’t wanna fucking be here.” She was now obviously more upset. But it was all so sudden. You take a breath and before you can speak she continues. “This place is trash, these people are trash and I hate it here.”
now that one really caught you off guard.
did she really only come here for you? “Sam please. You just need to get to know everyone better.” You looked a little sad that Sam wasn’t having a good time as that’s what you wanted for everyone.
that’s one of the main reasons you invited them.
Sam sighed and ran her fingers through her hair in distress. She’s obviously sick of this place. Maybe even sick of your friend. before your friends current boyfriend she was known to be “sex positive” and maybe that was the reason Sam didn’t want her around.
so she wouldn’t make you act the Sam.
you mouth a sorry, knowing Sam probably needs her space and time to cool off. You walk away but you don’t immediately go back to your friend.
that would only upset sam more. Instead you opt to go outside for a minute. As you’re standing there you feel a light tap on your shoulder. It’s Mindy.
“yeah?” You asked almost confused. Mindy sighs a little nervous or hesitant. “We should leave.” Your heart doesn’t shatter but your head gets clouded with anger.
“why? Because Sam said so?” Mindy looked almost offended. “Well maybe she’s right. Your friend…isn’t the best.” You tried to hold back your anger.
you had known your friend for so long and she was genuinely a nice person who never tried to get you into that lifestyle.
“but why? Because of the way she is? Why is that your place to judge her?” It honestly hurts that people are judging your friend when she was there for you during your toughest times.
and it also hurt that everyone was on Sam’s side when you had all known each other for Sam amount of time. For years.
Mindy knew this and to you it felt like her loyalty lied with Sam. “I’m not trying to judge her but maybe she isn’t the best person to be around. Yeah she’s changed her ways and hasn’t done that in a while but still.” “still what?! That was in the past!” But to Mindy it didn’t feel like the past. That or she’s just saying anything that would’ve pleased Sam if Sam was with you guys right now.
before she can respond you go back inside. Making your way around is a little hard because of the crowd of people but you make it work.
eventually you see chad with a stern, almost angry looking face while talking to your friends boyfriend. Before you can say anything you feel sam grab you and pull you away.
“just leave it.” She says once again. But you couldn’t let this one go. “No sam! What the Fuck are y’all doing?” You were really starting to get irritated now.
sam didn’t answer you and over all the music you hear Tara arguing with your friend. You immediately turn around ready to defend her but sam is holding you back.
this wasn’t fair. This wasn’t right. Although your friend and Tara were around the same height your friend was literally drunk. She barely even knows what’s going on!
you can see tears in her eyes. She didn’t drink any alcohol that would make her really aggressive. She drank mostly alcohol like red wine which would have her relaxed.
you see the drunk confused tears in her eyes and you feel so bad that it actually almost has you yelling at Tara to get away from her and leave her alone.
Before you know it Tara is throwing first at your friend who sitting on this couch thing with her back turned.
as Tara is beating up your friend it’s like the grip Sam had on you is suddenly as light as paper as you run towards Tara and your friend and pull her off.
Tara is usually never like this but you’re assuming she must’ve drank some hard liquor.
as soon as you pull Tara off she’s suddenly hitting you which you immediately reciprocate, nearly slamming her down to the club floor.
“bitch you’re dumb!” You yell angrily as you continue to beat the shit out of Tara. You were both tipsy and you were angry. Tara just seems like she was a tiny bit angry and wanted a problem.
After a few seconds you get pulled off by Sam and you try to get out of her grasp by thrashing but it doesn’t work. Sam is taller and stronger than you. She could lift you up a few inches in a bare hug and shake you like a rag doll.
Sam is clearly pissed off from you putting your hands on her sister but Chad tries to calm you all down as you guys see Tara’s nose bleeding a little bit.
as you all get escorted out and to the car it’s hard to calm down.
when you’re all in no one knows if everyone is calming down or just doesn’t want to speak. You and Sam are clearly pissed off but you guys keep silent for most of the car ride.
as soon as you guys get to the apartment you get out angrily. When inside it’s like the whole thing starts up again.
“y/n you really shouldn’t-“ Mindy gets cut off as you yell. “What the fuck are y’all’s problems! Y’all don’t even know that girl, she does nothing to y’all!”
Sam takes off her jacket and throws it across the kitchen island in frustration. “Y/n just- calm down. You’re overreacting.” You’re overreacting? Out of everyone YOU’RE overreacting?
“Listen just don’t do anything else stupid alright?”chad tries to chime in and you almost yell before Tara says something.
“you fucking bitch!” She’s obviously still upset about what you did like everyone else and you can tell everyone’s really about to gang up on you in a second.
“I’m the bitch?! You’re the one who attacked my friend for no reason!” You yell back angrily. Tara was NOT the victim.
“just leave it alone.” Mindy speaks cautiously but you’ve had enough. And suddenly everyone’s trying to degrade you and tell you right from wrong.
“stop! That was fucked up! She’s your friend and being a bitch!” Mindy yells at you angrily. Before you know it both of you are running up in the heat of the moment and start to fight.
it’s very brief as even though you guys get a few good hits in you ultimately get pulled away.
“Cmon I’m ready to fight! Win, lose, draw, it don’t Matter! We back in the house ,everyone wanna fight me right?! I’ll fight everyone, I don’t care!” They had truly gotten on your last nerves. How could they do suddenly treat you like this?
Sam stepped in front of you as if you were the one who was gonna need protecting. “Y/n just go in my room. We’ll talk about this later.” She was so firm but you yell back.
“no, fuck that! I’ll fight all of y’all, I don’t give a fuck who got a problem! So if you do just step up, I’ll fight Chad too!” Chad was shocked by this but stayed calm.
“Y’all think just because I’m small that I’m scared of y’all or I won’t fuck y’all up!” It was true. A lot of people thought they could beat you but they couldn’t. No matter the size you were always able to defend yourself.
you were able to embarrass someone taller than you last year on the school stage.
“just go in the fucking room! Now!” You tried to hold back your anger as you stomped your way into the room.
a few minutes later after you slowly started to calm down Sam had finally came in a little more angrier than you still.
“what the hell was that?! First you attack Tara then Mindy? What is wrong with you?!” A part of you wanted to cry. You always loved Sam and you never got this way with anyone in the group.
you were always so nice to everyone until they disrespected you.
you had tears of frustration and almost fear as you spoke. “Because y’all messed with my friend no reason! On her birthday!” Tears fell as it just didn’t feel right for this to happen.
It was supposed to be your friends day. Her special day.
“I know and I guess I’m sorry for that but I just don’t trust her!” Sam tried to defend angrily but with a little remorse as she saw your tears.
“no, you guys ruined her birthday! You guys couldn’t suck it up for one night! Y’all embarrassed her,” you couldn’t help but cry for your friend.
“and y’all know everyone was probably recording! She didn’t deserve that!” Sam sighed trying to calm down as she took a seat next to you on the bed.
“maybe this whole thing should have never happened.” She whispered and you immediately knew what she meant by that. Your biggest fear was finally happening.
Sam saw the look on your face and in your eyes and immediately regretted what came out of her mouth. “Now wait a secon-“ before she could finish you had got up.
“well then fuck it! Since I obviously don’t Matter to any of y’all I’ll just go! Since y’all don’t love me no more then I’m gone! Because y’all are not the same people I nearly grew up with!”
you had tears in your eyes. It hurt but you just couldn’t take it. You grabbed your things and walked out of the room.
Sam tried to run after you, the girl she had loved with tears in her eyes. Everyone turned towards Sam and before they knew it.
you were gone.

living in Woodsboro your whole life had never been your plan. you always planned to leave as soon as you finished high school, get into a good college - or any college, really as long as it was out of California. the plan had been made with your once best friend, Sam Carpenter, she wanted similar things as you. the two of you had been best friends since middle school, having been in the same classes and you both shared the pain of losing one of your parents.
you had lost your mother to cancer and you might as well had lost your dad as well, he hadn’t gone a single day sober since the moment her heart monitor flat lined.
Sam had been the one to help you through it all, inviting you to her house almost every day so you wouldn’t have to go home to a drunk dad who would cry as soon as he saw you considering you were the spitting image of your mother. she was your best friend.. even if you were in love with her since the moment you landed eyes on her, as long as she was by your side you had accepted only being her best friend.
you knew about her dad and why he had left, although she never told you who her biological father was, she had told you about why her dad had left and how, much like your dad, her mom drowned herself in alcohol. she wasn’t around much though, spending most weeks away on business trips and leaving Sam with a debit card so she could buy whatever it is she and Tara needed.
you were both damaged but maybe that was what brought you two closer. it was in your junior year that you two decided to go to the same college, hopefully dorm together and leave your lives in Woodsboro behind. you made sure to help her with her grades even while she was in trouble with the law and taking any drugs she could afford. you stuck with her through all of it, how could you not? she was the girl of your dreams and you’d do anything for her.
you quickly realized the sentiment was not returned. the morning of Sams eighteenth birthday you had gone to her house to celebrate with her. you had gotten her chocolate chip pancakes and a smoothie, her favorite breakfast but when you arrived all you saw was a crying Tara and her mother with a ghost of a smile on her lips. Sam had left. without you. your plan to leave together had worked for her, she just didn’t leave with you. she left alone and she left you behind to deal with your own pain alone.
you hated Sam from that day on. maybe you were pathetic for not leaving, maybe it was stupid that you relied on another person so much but the only reason you wanted to leave Woodsboro was if you got to leave with her. otherwise there was no point, you’d be just as lonely as you are now, possibly even more.
so you stayed. settled as a real estate agent, you were liked by most in the town considering who your mom was so it was easy.
yet it wasn’t.
Sam left you behind but she took away a piece of your heart, a piece you needed to be happy again.
you tried dating, went on a couple of dates with a cute blonde and it worked for about a year until it didn’t. she was nice and practically the perfect girl but she wasn’t Sam. she wasn’t the girl who would hold your hand during class because you would get anxious around so many people, she wasn’t the girl would know how to hold you at night so you wouldn’t feel smothered but still feel safe. she didn’t know how you liked your coffee or what your favorite flowers were.
she just wasn’t Sam Carpenter and you loathed that.
you just wanted to move on with your life, be happy with someone else because you knew you’d never get her back.
but you were wrong yet again.
Tara was attacked by a ghostface, you had heard about it from Mindy and Chad. you still kept in touch with the group, having been there when Sam would babysit them. Tara had been the one to keep in touch with you from the beginning, she had told you that you were always welcome in her home even if Sam had left. you never took her up on that offer but that didn’t mean you didn’t make conversation with them if you saw them out in public.
the distinctive smell of bleach and latex made you sigh as you sipped on your coffee. you had gone to the hospital to check on Tara but once her friends were there you decided to step out and give them some space, you didn’t want to be the one adult in the room that made them all filter their words.
you didn’t want to leave yet, not until you told Tara that you were there for whatever she needed. maybe you should have left though.
a familiar girl with dark brown eyes and dark hair approached you in the waiting area. she was the same and yet different, her once completely black hair now had highlights and she seemed to dress differently now, her number jackets and boots long gone as she had on a simple green jacket.
Sam looked shocked at first, her eyes wide as she took in your body once, twice and finally they settled on your face.
you’re sure she thought the same about you, the once timid and shy girl long gone.
“y/n..” she whispered and took a step closer.
“hey” you said curtly as you refrained yourself from taking a step back.
“i-..” Sam spoke but cut herself off seemingly speechless. you almost chuckled.
“it’s fine, Sam. i should go” you said beginning to turn around so you can leave but a hand on your arm stopped you from doing so.
“wait. please.” there was a certain desperation in her voice you had never heard from her that made your heart rate pick up and a lump to form in your throat.
you sighed as you turned back toward her, you raised a brow to signal for her to continue with whatever it is she wanted.
“im sorry, y/n. i really am, i didn’t mean to hurt you” the girl said softly and her eyes were beginning to shine but you didn’t care.
“like i said. it’s fine. i really need to go though” you said not giving her a second to respond or even react as you turned back around and began walking away.
-
the sound of the news channel was in the background of your kitchen as you made yourself dinner. it had been a day since you saw Sam and you hadn’t spoken to Tara or anyone else since.
Mindy and Chad had been texting you updates but you hadn’t responded to any of them. it’s not that you didn’t care because truthfully you cared for those girls with everything in you but you couldn’t face Sam. besides, there was nothing you could do to help them other than drag them down, you would just be putting yourself in danger and having to add to their worries.
the smell of tomato sauce filled your sense as you mixed it, the pasta was already cooked and sitting in the strainer as you finished heating up the sauce. you weren’t very hungry but you also didn’t want to go to bed on an empty stomach.
as you continued to stir the food a faint crash echoed throughout the house. you stopped, you head snapping up with furrowed eyebrows. you kitchen was facing straight to the living room but it was empty, the only noise coming from it being the television that was still on.
you frowned as you reached for the remote and began turning the volume down. you stayed frozen for a second but it remained silent. you rolled your eyes, it was most likely just in your head. you didn’t turn the volume back up but you remained stirring the pot, once you thought it was enough you turned the stove off and moved the pot to the side.
as you moved to grab a plate to serve yourself, a sudden hand grabbing you by the hair made you instinctively grab onto them. you began to panic, your heart beating so fast you could quite literally hear it. you tried to wiggle out of their grip but they were too strong.
“let me go!” you yelled as you tried to kick them but you were doing so blindly and every time your foot connected with their leg, it didn’t make a difference. suddenly they let you go, throwing you onto the floor in the process. you breathed shakily as you turned to see who the hell was in your house but instead of being met with another person you were met with the sight of fucking ghostface.
your eyes widened and you slowly moved away from them as you tried to remember where you left the big knife. shit, it was in the sink.
ghostface tiled their head to the side, waiting for some kind of reaction from you. you couldn’t find a way out of this, if you moved he’d kill you but if you didn’t he’d still kill you. you took in a huge breath and looked down at his legs, without a second for regret you brought your foot down onto his leg as hard as possible and stood as he bent down to hold it.
you quickly moved to the sink where you expected to see the kitchen knife but it wasn’t there. tears began to form in your eyes causing them to blur and you were petrified. there was no way out of this, your phone was charging in your room and you didn’t own a gun or any sort of weapon that could help you.
a sudden sharp and dull pain on your back made a scream ripple from your throat. the blade entered you for a second time near your shoulder before you turned around. you tried to kick them once more but they swiftly grabbed your leg and stabbed you on your thigh making you cry out in pain.
your body fell to the floor as you clutched your leg in pain. there was blood. so much fucking blood and it was coating your hands making you begin to hyperventilate. ghostface lifted his knife about to strike you again and you coward down as you held your hand up. you wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of pleading for your life so you didn’t, instead you swallowed your tears as you waited for the knife to enter your body one last time.
but it never did as your front door swung open to reveal Sam Carpenter in all her glory with Dewey behind her, he shot twice hitting ghostface before he ran away. Dewey quickly went after him whilst Sam rushed toward you. she bent down and held your leg to try and stop the blood.
“i think i’m dying” you said with a slight laugh, you were losing too much blood and you were starting to feel light headed. you wouldn’t be able to hold on much for longer.
“no, no you’re not. the ambulance is coming, okay? your gonna be okay” Sam said quickly trying her best to reassure you but you shook your head a small sob escaping your lips.
“it hurts so much” you cried as you felt your back gushing blood.
Sam had tears in her own eyes and her lip was trembling. you couldn’t make out her hand but you felt it shaking against your leg as she applied pressure to it.
“i love you, y/n. okay? you don’t get to leave me because i fucking love you and i can’t lose you. not now” Sam cried and shook her head.
you attempted to laugh but instead your body felt as if it were running out of oxygen as you coughed. you could make out the taste of blood in your mouth and knew it was over.
“five years too late, Sam” you attempted to joke but the look on Sams face made you realize your words hurt her even more. you frowned, “i love you too” you confessed softly, your hand reached for the girls face but you realized how much blood was on it so you stopped yourself.
Sam shook her head, “im so sorry. i’m so fucking sorry for leaving. i should’ve taken you with me, i should’ve given you the option to come. i..” but her words were slowly fading, just like your conscious.
-
a faint beeping noise lulled you awake. your mind was foggy and you could make out the distinct smell of bleach and latex. you were at the hospital.
you could feel a hand on your own stopping you from moving it and you could feel an oxygen mask on you. it took you a second to be able to open your eyes, they felt heavy and parts of your body felt sore. there wasn’t pain necessarily - although you assumed you were pumped full of drugs so the pain was pretty minimal to what you should be feeling.
slowly your eyes fluttered open. it was blurry at first but they steadily cleared and you looked at the weight on your hand.
Sam.
she had her head laying on the bed with her hand securely holding yours. she was in a hospital gown herself causing a worry to fill in the pit of your stomach.
“Sam” you said and squeezed her hand in order to wake the girl up. she did so after a couple of seconds, she lifted her head her eyes filled with sleep until she realized you were awake and she quickly wiped the sleep away.
“y/n. how are you feeling? are you okay?” she asked quickly moving closer to you. she looked exhausted, her eyes had huge dark circles under them and they were slightly red. you weren’t sure if that was from crying or just plain exhaustion.
“im okay” you said with a gentle smile, a wave of relief washed over Sam. she was still holding your hand tightly almost as if she were to let go you would slip away. “but what happened to you?” you quickly asked with furrowed brows.
Sam sighed softly, “ghostface attacked Tara and i. turns out the love interest always is the killer” she chuckles.
your eyes widened, “so your boyfriend..?” she nodded.
“him and Amber. he lured us to the house and well..” she trailed off motioning to her body. you shook your head, you never thought it would be Amber. you never really stopped to think who it could be but you definitely didn’t think it was Amber.
“how’s Tara?” you knew how close her and Amber were and you can’t begin to imagine how she must be feeling.
“she’s okay” Sam nodded, “she’s resting now. Chad and Mindy were attacked too but they are recovering as well” she said.
a soft sigh escaped your lips. this was all so fucked, they were all still kids and they didn’t deserve to be dealing with this bullshit. especially not from their own friend.
“what about you?” you asked worriedly looking at her body for a sign of where she had been hurt.
Sam smiled gently and waved you off, “i’m fine. just a stab wound” she said as if it were no big deal.
“Sam, what the hell. that’s not nothing, are you okay? where was it?” you hurriedly asked and began to sit up but quickly winced at the pain in your back.
Sam stood up immediately and held you down, “stop. don’t do that. the doctors said he didn’t hit any major arteries but you still need to take it easy.” she said making you nod.
until you remembered about your leg, you quickly removed the blanket to reveal it bandaged up, you lifted it slightly and let out a sigh of relief.
“your legs fine too. you’ll probably just need a bit of therapy” Sam said and grabbed the blanket to put it back over your lap.
a fluttery feeling spread across your chest, Sam was here. she was here and taking care of you when she was probably in pain as well. you shook your head with a soft smile and moved your body slightly to give her room. “lay down. being stabbed isnt for the weak” you joked earning a low chuckle from the older Carpenter girl. she listened to your words and laid on her side so she was facing you.
it was silent for a second, the only thing that could be heard was your heart monitor and the faint chatter from outside the room.
you had almost forgotten how beautiful Sam was. although you feel stupid for thinking that considering she had always been the most beautiful girl you’d have ever met. even after five years she still had the power to pull a smile on your lips with just her presence. she still gave you butterflies and that damn giddy feeling in the pit of your stomach. she was the only one who could make you smile even though you went through something so traumatic.
“can i ask you a question?” you said lowly. Sam nodded. “why did he come after me? i just mean.. i’m not really a part of your lives. maybe Tara’s life but i’m not really a part of the group or anything” you said slightly confused. besides, it’s not like you were related to any of the original ghostface victims.
Sam glanced down at your hands that were playing with her hair. she was nervous. you could tell by the way she wouldn’t meet your eye and the way her breathing began to grow heavier.
“i told Richie about you when i first met him. he had asked me if i had ever dated anyone and even though i hadn’t.. i said i dated you” she shrugged as if it weren’t a big deal.
you couldn’t help but smile, “why?”
Sam finally looked at you, “i don’t know” she shrugged again, “i always had a crush on you and we were so close that it almost felt like we were together” she continued.
she was playing it down but you could tell everything she was saying meant a lot to her.
god you felt stupid. this whole time you thought your love was one sided, you thought you were the helpless lesbian in love with her straight best friend when this whole time her feelings were recuperated.
Sam seemed to take your silence for being uncomfortable as she spoke again, “i’m sorry.” she shook her head and looked back down at your hand. “that was stupid. i shouldn’t have, we were best friends and i-”
you placed your hand under her chin and leaned forward to press your lips against hers in a soft kiss.
it was everything. the fireworks, the explosion of butterflies, the feeling of coming home.
it all made you smile and your teeth hit Sams causing you both to pull away with a slight giggle.
“i loved you too by the way. i thought you were straight so i just never told you” you said making Sam snort out a laugh.
“you thought i was straight? are you serious? do you know how many times Tara called me out for checking you out?!” she exclaimed making your eyebrows raise.
“oh? you were checking me out miss Carpenter?”
Sam rolled her eyes not able to control the smile on her lips, “whatever. i have no shame in it, you were hot” she shrugged making you laugh again.
“you weren’t alone in that”
you both fall silent, your hands intertwined in the middle of your bodies. this was weird, after five years of being alone you now had the girl of your dreams. it was surreal and almost didn’t feel real but Sams touch was grounding you. this was real. she was real and she loved you. just as much as you loved her.
Sam bit her lip nervously, “i’m sorry for leaving you. i never meant to hurt you. i thought that by leaving i’d be protecting you and Tara but i was obviously wrong” the girl said in a low voice. her eyes were lowered and you felt your chest tighten at the sight.
“Sam. stop. i understand now, maybe i didn’t before but i do now. although i don’t get why this all happened” you confessed a little confused.
at your words Sams head snapped up to look at you, “you don’t know?”
“know what?”
“well..”
-
one year later
never in your life did you think you’d be here. in New York dating the girl you’ve been hopelessly in love with and living with her and her sister. even when you were still friends, you never thought being together would ever be a possibility.
funny how that sounded now.
Sam had asked you out on a date a week after you were released from the hospital and it went great. it was as if she never left and there wasn’t a five year gap since you last saw each other. even though you were both different in some ways, having grown and matured into adults, you still complimented one another in all the best ways.
two months later Sam and Tara decided to move to New York and Sam had asked you if you wanted to go with them. she didn’t want to lose you and the difference between New York and California was too much. of course you accepted. there wasn’t anything keeping you in Woodsboro anyway.
the three of you moved into a three room apartment, you and Sam shared a room and you put up an anonymous flyer for a fourth roommate. that’s how you met Quinn. she was… interesting to say the least.
things were going great, Tara was going to school and although she wasn’t dealing with her shit as well as she should be, she was doing well for everything she went through. Sam pushed her to open up a lot but you tried to convince your girlfriend to give her space, she’d open up when she felt ready.
Sam was going to therapy, even though it wasn’t easy. you had to do a lot of convincing for that to happen.
Chad and Mindy were attending school as well and they were all as close as ever.
you still did real estate but you decided to go to school and major in something that had to do with law. you still had ptsd just like everyone else and maybe that was what pulled you toward the law side of school. either way it felt like the only way to be able to protect yourself and the people you love.
much like other Friday nights you spent it on the couch finishing up some last minute studying. Sam had therapy until a little later and considering the weekends were the only time you could spend time together, you tried to study whenever Sam was busy.
but your plans to make dinner with Tara to spend quality time together did not go according to plan. Tara had gone out with Chad and Mindy to a frat party, originally she had told you Sam was cool with it so you didn’t find a reason to alert your girlfriend about her whereabouts. turns out teenage girls lie quite a lot.
once it slipped out from Quinn, Sam grabbed your arm and pulled you with her to get Tara.
you didn’t care to protest, you found angry Sam hot so you simply followed the girl around. thank god you did considering you got to witness her tase a guy in.. his most intimate area.
you simply followed along even whilst Tara stormed away angrily and had to listen to her bash your girlfriend for simply worrying. you didn’t step in though, it wasn’t your place and you were well aware of that. you and Sam had only been together for a couple of months and although you were a part of Tara’s life for years now, it just didn’t seem right.
but that did not mean you didn’t step in when some bitch spilled her drink on Sam. you immediately pushed the girl back, about to swing a punch but Chad held you back making you even more mad.
now people were bringing their stupid conspiracy theories into the mix and Sam had been on the receiving end from a lot of people’s anger.
you sighed softly as you slowly walked down the steps. Sam was sitting on the last step with her face buried in her hands. you were silent until you were standing in front of her.
“hey” you said gently making her look up. you smiled sadly, “i’m sorry baby.” you whispered and reached for her hand. Sam shook her head.
“im so tired of this” she confessed with a tone of exhaustion in her voice. you understood what she meant completely.
“i know but we’ll get through this. we have to” you said. maybe you weren’t the best at comforting people but you weren’t sure what else you could really say. nothing you said could change the way other people viewed Sam or how Tara was simply acting like a teenager. “what can i do?” you asked as Sam began to stand. she shook her head, a detectable look in her eyes that you knew all too well.
you felt her hands on your waist and she slowly walked you backwards until your back hit the wall. “oh?” you chuckled amused.
Sam only smiled as she leaned in to press her lips against your own. you let the kiss happen, happily accepting her tongue in your mouth as you placed your hands on your girlfriends waist. she was desperate and you could feel her grip on your waist slowly tighten.
you sighed blissfully into the kiss, her soft lips moving hungrily against your own. but the more the kiss continued the more light headed you were becoming so you pulled away, her chest heaving.
“you smell like cherry coke” you said as your forehead was placed against Sams. you felt her body shake as she laughed and pulled away from your touch.
“you don’t like it?”
“oh no” you waved her off. “i love it. better than any perfume you own” she laughed with a shake of her head.
the sound was like music to your ears and it was your favorite noise in the world. a smile tugged at your lips. “i love you, Sam. i’ll be here with you every step of the way. okay?”
“okay” she confirmed softly.
and you were. from that day on you kept your promise.

"that's right, choke on it, yeah, just like that"
you were drooling all over ethan's cock. behind you, chad was pounding into you like there is no tomorrow, he was thrusting harder and harder into your wet, tight cunt that he was automatically pushing you towards his roommate's cock.
and you were choking on it. ethan's hands were in your hair, gripping it, and his hips were thrusting into your face as brutally as chad behind you. chad held your hips firmly, and watching your back arch under his thrusts, he leaned his head back, grunting with pleasure as he felt you tighten around him.
“holy fuck, you feel so good baby” praised chad.
your face a mess of tears, snot, and drool. you felt ethan hit the back of your throat, and breathing through your nose became harder and harder. you moaned around ethan, only heightening his pleasure. chad straightened his head and watched you choke around his roommate who wasn't as shy and dorky as mindy thought.
he smiled, and when one of his hands left your hip to wrap around you and caress your clit, you rolled your eyes back. you looked so dirty like that, eyes rolled to the back of your head, tears streaming down your cheeks with your mascara running, and with ethan's cock in your mouth.
ethan's eyes were dark, so dark, you looked so slutty like this that he started to loose his mind. ethan's left hand left your hair, but you could still feel your scalp burning under his grip, he caressed your face in a way that contrasted the way he pushed into your mouth, murmuring a soft "fuck" under his breath at how pretty you looked.
and then you looked up at ethan, continuing to take his cock deep into your throat as you tried to keep from coughing, he was big, stretching the sides of your mouth. when his eyes met yours, he smiled devilishly, and you felt a delicious sensation in your stomach as you watched him.
chad's hand caressed your back as he fucked you deliciously, making you moan, and with delicacy, he urged you to arch your back further so he could reach the angle he wanted.
“go on chad, fuck her harder, that slut is begging for it” said ethan while holding eyes contact with you.
ethan's words made your pussy throbbing, and you clenched so tightly around chad's cock that he hissed and started groaning again.
“this is what you want, baby? you want me to fuck you harder?”
you maintained eye contact with ethan, who raised an eyebrow at you, prompting you to respond. and then, you nodded, but this action only allowed ethan to reach the back of your throat so much deeper that you felt his balls slap your chin.
“right baby, anything for my good girl” praised chad
and he started to fuck you harder, making you scream around ethan's cock, sending vibrations around his member. your knees began to weaken as chad's new rhythm made them burn against the sheets.
chad grabbed the back of your neck and pushed you even deeper against ethan, for a moment you closed your eyes, feeling the air struggling to return to your body, you tried to control your gag reflex and ethan noticed that you took it without complaint despite the delicious pain that brought you nothing but pleasure, which earned you another caress on your cheek from the tall dark-haired man in front of you, a caress that made you send a look of adoration towards him, but this caress turned into a little tap, he was almost hitting you.
“good little bitch, taking it so well. just ours to use, uh ?”
when you didn't respond, too lost in the pleasure chad was bringing you behind you, when he slapped you on the ass, growling and murmuring praises at you, ethan snapped.
his hand behind your head began to gently grab your hair, and he pushed your head down on him in one fell swoop, making your eyes widen in panic as you looked up at him, alarmed. he bit his lip to try and hold back a smile at seeing you in such a state.
he wasn't moving, he was holding you down there. your nose against his pelvis, his pubic hair preventing you from breathing, his balls against your chin, with your drool dripping on them, holding you in a submissive position that was uncomfortable. a mischievous gleam shone in his dark eyes, as he watched the tears multiply in your eyes and run down your cheeks.
and just when you thought he couldn't get any deeper, he pushed your head down again, earning a gagging sound from you. you could feel your throat burning.
“uh ?” he repeat, while titling his head to the side.
you began to nod rapidly, hoping that he'd release you and give you time to breathe, but that panicked yet excited look in your tear-filled eyes made him want to cum. he raised his eyebrows again, not satisfied with your answer, you then understood that he wanted a verbal response, but your mouth was full of his cock. he loved to degrade you.
you tried to emit a “yes” around him, but your answer was distorted by the wet sound of your throat as you tried to speak against his pelvis. but he only laughed.
“what did you said ? i didn't catch that” teased ethan.
maintaining eye contact with your dom, you tried to repeat your answer, murmuring a “yes” once more, but you couldn't formulate an answer properly from your position, and that was exactly ethan's aim.
“oh, you wanna say something, fucktoy ?” humiliated ethan.
and then you couldn't breathe, you could feel your face turning red from lack of air. your hands urgently went to his thighs, which you slapped to let him know you had no more air. but how he liked that. you started trying to pull your mouth back, but you had no way out, you were pushing chad deeper into your cunt.
“oh ! where are you going? you're staying there, uh uh, keep choking on it. want you to fucking pass out on my dick when i cum.”
your nails were digging into his thighs, drawing crescent moons on his skin. you were whimpering, and he heard it very well. he was watching you cry, taking pleasure in it because he knew they were tears of pleasure. his hand was still in your hair, preventing you from escaping and keeping you against his pelvis, his hair was even starting to tickle your nose from trying to breathe through it.
you tried to open your mouth wide to gather air even with ethan in your throat, but this made more and more drool run down your neck through the corners of your mouth, and ethan was just laughing at you, you were ashamed to admit it but it turned you on even more, ethan being mean with you made you weak and needy.
you closed your mouth around him, giving him a fucked up gaze and you felt him contract in your mouth. he grinned, and pushing your head against him again, feeling his tip rub and hit the back of your throat, he took a moment to contemplate you and then, spit on your face, you closed your eyes, and he started thrusting in and out your throat again, continued to hold you down by your hair. you could hear him grunting little “shit” while he was in your throat, and it made you feel hot.
but chad, sensing you'd had enough, slipped his hand tenderly around your throat, and lifted you up onto all fours, helping you to pull yourself off ethan's cock despite him. ethan's hand then left your head following chad's gesture.
and you took deep breaths of fresh air, started coughing, and tried to breathe properly with chad whispering encouragement to you, he was always so sweet and soft with you while being dominant, you loved it.
“ethan come on, don't be mean with our girl, our sweet little thing, is that right, baby?”
chad leaned down, massaged your throat with his hand on it and kissed your neck, continuing to fuck you, feeling himself coming little by little.
ethan, meanwhile, watched you catch your breath, and ran his thumb over your swollen lips.
“well, it seem like our sweet little thing needs to be put in place”

secrets I held in my heart
Samantha Carpenter x Reader
Summary: The rules were Sam's idea, she had been demanding on the 'no feelings' part. She wasn't here to be loved, or cared for, or cherished. Yet with every touch of her lips on your body, it felt like she was begging you to do just that.
A/N: I neglected all my other works just to write this. Mentions of smut ahead. <3

Tumblr media
It was 9:23 PM when you heard the knocking on your door.
Today was a Friday, so you didn't need to look in the peephole to know who it was. This has been your routine for over a month.
You were already in your pajamas; a simple pair of shorts and an oversized shirt, and you could see tiny droplets of rain collecting on the windows as you walked up to greet her. You wondered if she'd have an umbrella.
You had your answer when you opened your door. Sam stood in the empty hallway of your apartment, the raindrops on her black jacket were shining under the yellow light; she had her hands stuffed in her pockets, always looking a little out of place right as she arrived. As much as you shouldn't, you were growing fond of her dark eyes and small smiles.
She walked inside quietly and you locked the door behind her — there wasn't a need for words, not really, you both knew what you wanted; why she was there.
The agreement was made with the effect of a few drinks on one night, just the right amount for extra courage and boldness. No feelings, no personal business, no getting attached; that was the deal. It was all about having fun and blowing off some steam without having to worry about the complications that came with a relationship — with being vulnerable.
You had your reasons for it and Sam had hers. It worked.
Until it didn't.
You kissed down her body. Your lips traced a path against her smooth skin, from her neck to her ribs and all the way to the curve of her waist. You always took your time with her, each of your kisses breaking a rule in their wake. You could feel every hitch of her breath each time you touched a sensitive place on her body; it was honestly quite hard to find a place where she wasn't sensitive.
Though you think she likes it slow too, because Sam tends to interrupt you; she'll tug on your intertwined hands and pull you up so she can cup your cheeks. Her kisses were eager but never bruising, you could feel the hotness of her breath lingering on your lips when the hands tangled in your hair kept you close.
She lay underneath you, with the only light illuminating your bedroom coming from the street lamps outside. You could see the outlines of her features, feel the bare skin of her legs whenever she moved.
You couldn't help bringing a hand up, your thumb tracing her lower lip before you leaned in for another searing kiss.
Sam's nails scratched at your back then, bound to leave a few telltales for the morning. She pulled you into her the closer she could manage, gasping into your mouth when your naked chest pressed to hers.
The rules were her idea, she had been demanding on the no feelings part. She wasn't here to be loved, or cared for, or cherished. It was the one thing she made clear she didn't want.
Yet with every touch of her lips on your body, with every breathy moan that slipped past her defenses, and every time her hands pulled you a little closer — it felt like she was begging you to do just that.
You knew part of her story, mostly from the rumors from before and after the Ghostface attacks on New York. Admittedly, you understood why she wouldn't want to allow people close. Though sometimes her loneliness was almost palpable.
So, you took your time with her. And Sam let you, because she cherished every second of it.
The rain had picked up when you gave her the last kiss of the night; the heavy droplets were loud against your windows as they poured down from the sky.
Sam had stolen your shirt. She stood before your window in nothing but her underwear and the faded Bon Jovi shirt you loved, glaring up at the sky as if it would pity her and stop its downpour only for her to get home.
You were sitting cross-legged on your bed, already back in your comfy pajamas. If she happened to stay over, which was quite rare, Sam would be gone in the morning before you woke up. You chewed on your lip, considering what you were about to say. "You know you can stay if you want, wait it out. I don't mind."
Sam glanced at the clock on your bedside table, it read 11:38 PM. She was hesitating; you could see it in the way she pressed her lips tightly together, in the way she bunched up the ends of your shirt in her hands.
Sam got back in your bed silently. She kept a reasonable distance between you two. She didn't look like the same person who had her limbs tangled with yours just a few moments ago.
The air felt electric with tension, with a timidness that shouldn't be there because you knew every curve of her body as if it was your own — yet this felt more intimate than anything else trapped between hot touches and breathless kisses.
You fell asleep first and Sam followed soon after, but not before taking the privileged opportunity to engrave the image of your peaceful features in her mind forever.
The red numbers on your clock read 2:59 AM when you woke up.
An unhappy groan escaped you as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes. First thing you registered in the darkness of your bedroom was that rain was still pouring heavily outside, though aside from that, nothing seemed out of place, and you wondered what had disturbed your slumber.
Then, you felt movement beside you, and you remembered the visitor who stayed.
Sam was breathing heavily, panicked gasps escaping from her lips. She had a soft frown on her eyebrows and cold sweat collecting on her forehead. The grip she had on the bedsheets was nearly ripping the fabric.
Worry tugged at your heartstrings immediately. You sat up, scooting closer to her so you could lay a careful hand on her shoulder, "Sam," you whispered gently, "Sam, wake up, I think you're having a nightmare." You kept talking yet got no reaction from her.
It was only when your fingertips grazed her cheek, that she jolted awake. A strangled gasp got stuck in her throat when her wide eyes locked on you; she clumsily pushed herself away from you, almost falling off the bed.
"Sam, calm down," you scrambled to turn on the bedside lamp so she could see you more clearly, "it's just me," you spoke softly.
The sight of her broke your heart. You've never seen Sam like this. She was breathing so heavily you feared she might hyperventilate, her lower lip quivering with each intake of air; tears were steadily collecting on the bottom lid of her eyes, still wide as she looked around, checking every dark corner of your room.
It took several beats for her to seemingly recognize you, and when she did, she finally sat up properly; dropping her head on her hands when quiet sobs started shaking her body. It sounded as if she was trying to hold them back, as if she didn't mean for you to see it.
You moved closer then, one of your arms coming around her shoulders. It was uncharted territory, something that wasn't meant to happen.
"Sam," yet you spoke as if you'd loved her for a long time, "it's okay, you're okay." Your lips met the fabric of your shirt on her shoulder and you laid a kiss there, squeezing her body to yours, "you're okay, I'm here for you."
That was enough to break through the rest of the barriers Sam had built around her heart, because she turned to you and hid her face in the crook of your neck. Her arms circled around your waist and her fingers curled around the fabric of your pajama shirt desperately, as if you could slip her grasp any moment.
You brought your other hand to the back of her head, burying your fingers through her hair. She melted into you.
The tears rolling down her cheeks dampened your shirt, but you couldn't find it in yourself to mind; all you cared about was holding her for as long as she needed.
And you wondered just how long it had been since someone was willing to do that for her.
Sam was the one who pulled away first, and she didn't meet your eyes as she did so. She quickly dried off the remaining tears. You could still see the shaking of her hands.
Figuring she could use at least a few moments alone, you got up from the bed and walked to the kitchen. The wooden floor was cold on your bare feet as you waited for the glass to fill with water.
When you came back to your bedroom, Sam's eyes were already following your every move. Though there was a shyness there that was new. She felt bare in front of you, more than she'd ever been before.
You sat back down quietly, extending the glass of water towards her.
Sam took it from you with an unsure tilt of lips. Several beats passed where she just looked at you, there was a mix of sadness, and want, and hesitance in her glinting eyes. "I'm sorry," she eventually mumbled. Her voice was tight, you figured she was one word away from breaking down all over again.
The yellow glow of your bedside lamp highlighted the tear tracks on her cheeks. You knew she wasn't apologizing for tonight. She was apologizing for breaking her own rules.
"Don't be," you told her when you pushed back strands of her dark hair, your touch lingering on her jaw, "because I'm not."
You didn't have much time to prepare for the way Sam reached for the back of your head and pulled you in, her lips colliding with yours as she nearly spilled all the water from the cup she was holding.
When stripes of morning sunlight eventually came in through your window, they highlighted the waves of Sam's hair, the curve of her sleepy smile as she cuddled up to you.
And you kissed her good morning.

Tara swears she can hear angels sing when you catch her eye. She looks at you, and her heart soars. It might’ve been the booze, it might’ve been the second-hand weed, but something came over her when you looked at her with the utmost adoration. Tara can’t control her body when she starts to lean in closer, and you end up closing the gap.
Your lips fit together like you’d done this hundreds of times before. You pull the smaller girl on top you, and Tara sighs like she’s just been accepted into heaven. Her hands tangle into your hair, and it’s your turn to sigh as she starts to massage the back of your head.
Unfortunately you’re both humans that need air to breathe, but that doesn’t stop you two from diving back into each other when you’re both ready for more.
Tara made sure she had the first pleasure of saying ‘I love you’ only seconds after you asked her to be your girlfriend.
“Little miss eager, are we?”
“I’d come up with a witty remark, but i’d much rather have incredibly soft sex with you”
“God, you’re such a dork. I’m surprised we haven’t done this sooner”
“God can’t help you anymore, baby. You’re all mine, and i’m not letting you go~”
“You’re saying that like it’s a problem”
“I remember the night i realized i was in love with you. Whenever i miss you, i always think about that night. I know i’m always telling you about it, but you were just so… ethereal. I don’t think i’d ever be able to forget how you smiled at me.”
On particularly bad nights when Tara had nightmares about Amber and the Ghostface attacks, you were always there to tell her it’ll be okay. At first Sam wasn’t too approving, but you reminded her of herself. You gained Sam’s trust when you showed up at their front door in the middle of the night looking like you’d just woken up (which you did) and proceeded to let Tara cry into your neck until the sun came up.
You’d rub circles into her back and massage the back of her head until your hands were numb, and the circulation of blood has long since left your fingers. Even before you two were official, you’d give Tara the most tender kisses you could offer her.
When you kissed her nose, she’d scrunch it up and give you the tiniest smile. When you kissed her cheek, she’d giggle and mumble ‘That tickles’ in a barely audible whisper. Finally, when you kissed her forehead, her wrinkles would disappear like they were never there. Only then would you start to lay Tara back down on her bed and let the smaller girl sleep until the afternoon
Tara found your smell intoxicating like a drug. She needed it to sleep, go outside, or do anything. She just need you around her at all times. Tara would steal your clothes just for the days you couldn’t be in her apartment.
“I haven’t washed any of your clothes. Sam tells me they’ll grow mold, but i’d keep them either way. Your mom let me take home most of your clothes. Sometimes i wish you’d bought more so i wouldn’t have to use the same ones every night.”
It’s been 3 weeks since you’ve died, and Tara hasn’t gotten used to the idea of you not being home. After long nights under the sheets with her, you’d make Tara something to eat every single morning after. Your aftercare didn’t stop until you decided your girlfriend was well taken care of.
Breakfast in bed, relaxing baths, Tara may as well be the queen of England with how much you spoiled her. More often than not, you’re up and awake hours before Tara. You use this time to clean up and tidy until your next round of fun times.
You’d wash her clothes, prepare her bag for classes, and clean up the strewn about clothes from the night before. When Tara woke up, she’d be able to hear the sizzling of bacon on a pan, and your less-than-ideal-singing. Tara found it adorable when you’d mess up a lyric or try and hit a high note.
Tara still woke up to bacon sizzling and music in the background, but your voice was no longer there. Maybe you just got tired from singing? Yeah. Definitely that. Tara waited for you to arrive in her room. You usually came in around 9:30 am, but the clock quickly turned into 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm and even 1:00 pm. Before she knew it, Sam was spoon feeding her at 10:00 pm and you still weren’t there.
“Whenever i smell breakfast and you’re not in bed with me, i always assume you’ll come bursting through the door with a smile on your face with a tray of my favorite food. I’ve spent hours waiting for you to show up, but you never do.”
It’s been 2 months since you died, and Tara hadn’t left her room in days. Sam was growing more and more concerned as time passed. She didn’t want to admit it, but Sam was scared. What was she supposed to do in this situation? Her baby sister was hurting, and she wasn’t able to take away her pain. Sam wasn’t dumb. She saw how you two looked at each other. There was nothing but love.
Sam didn’t want to admit it, but you’d won her over long before she showed it. You were a good friend as well. Always offering to be a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Now you were gone, and Sam didn’t know how to help Tara heal.
After a particularly long night at work, Sam wasn’t met with the silence of an apartment, but the crying of her sister. Sam wanted to do something, but she didn’t know what. So for now she’d be the shoulder to cry on, just as you had been for the Carpenter sisters.
A nervous Sam opened Tara’s door, and she was met with her younger sister curled in a ball while wearing your shorts and shirt. Sam felt tears prick at her eyes from the sight, but she had to be strong. She had to be there for her baby sister. Slowly walking toward Tara’s bed, Sam leaned down to meet her eyes.
“…Sammy?” Tara croaked, and Sam could feel her heart shatter. Tara’s eyes were bloodshot red and her eye bags were such a dark color they rivaled her freckles. Tears were a constant stream on her face, leaving a damp spot on her bedsheets.
“Oh, Tara…” was all Sam could manage before she got into bed with her younger sister. Sam felt like a mother rocking her baby to sleep after a bad dream. God, Sam wished this was a bad dream. The older sister didn’t believe in any deity or god, but that night she prayed. Sam prayed to whoever out there would listen. She prayed her sister would be alright. She prayed her sister would be able to heal. She prayed for this to be a nightmare, and that you’d be alive and breathing the next day. Her last prayer never came true.
“On really bad days, i wear your clothes and put a heat pad on my stomach and pretend it’s you holding me. Sometimes in the middle of the night i can feel a warmth around me. I used to think it was you, but it ended up being Sam trying to comfort me.”
It’s been a year since you died, and Sam has been urging Tara to go outside more. It started off as easy and simple things. Getting groceries, going to the movies, and checking out books at the library. Tara actually got the number of a very pretty librarian. She was beautiful, kind, and sweet. Tara would’ve said she was the one before she’d met you. The librarian — whose name was Katie — asked Tara for her number.
Sam said this could be good for Tara, but they both knew this could only end in one way. Despite this, Tara agreed to a first date. Then a second date. And then a third date at Katie’s apartment.
But Tara’s heart was never in in. Tara felt bad she was wasting such an amazing girl’s time. Her wake up call was when Katie kissed her, and she didn’t feel your lips on hers. Tara cried, and Katie understood she wasn’t the right one. The brunette apologized and apologized, but Katie knew her heart was elsewhere after the first date.
“When other people kiss me, it doesn’t feel right. It feels like i’m cheating on you. I think about the disappointed look you’d have on your face when i come home, but you’re not there to give it to me. I know you’d want me to move on, but i don’t think i can.”
You died ferociously protecting Tara. Punches, kicks, and bites were exchanged. You fought, and you fought hard. But ultimately, protecting Tara was always bound to be your demise. You were battered and bruised when Ethan took the bag off your head.
“Y/N!”
“Not a step closer, Tara.” He pointed the gun at your head. “Or your precious girlfriend over here gets it”
“Fuck you.”
“A lover for a lover. If Richie can’t be alive, neither can she.” He pushes the gun closer to your head, and you have to suppress a shiver at how it’s covered in blood. “You sisters don’t deserve to be happy”
You look up at Tara, and both of you know one person between you two is going to come out of this alive. You decide it’s going to be Tara.
‘I love you’ are the last words you mouth to your girlfriend before you use all your body weight to knock down Officer Bailey and Quinn. A bullet is in your skull less than a second later.
“I still have nightmares, but they’re mostly about you. They’ve gone down with time, but some nights i have to see your face. I can’t tell whether it’s a curse or a blessing most times”
You died when you were only 22. Young and bright-eyed, you were still able to change the lives around you. Mindy shared many of your interests, Anika was your best friend, Chad learned about his love of football through you, and Sam was the sister you never had. But most importantly, you were the love of Tara’s life.
Tara wished she photographed every single moment she had with you. she knows better now. After your death, Tara spent more time with her family — which Chad named ‘The Core Four’. There were sleepovers, game nights, and movie nights way more often now, as per Tara’s request.
Moments with you were only in memory, and she vowed to never let your name leave her mind. So, Tara started to write. At first it was memories and fun moments with you, but it quickly turned into her experiences with Ghostface, and the story of her life. This was only meant for herself, though. Tara saw firsthand how media affects real life.
“I know how much you loved red velvet, so i got you a cupcake. It’s from a new bakery i know you’d like” The brunette sets down a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting and a candle at the base of your headstone.
The shorter girl looks up at the sky, and is met with a rapidly setting sun. “Well it’s getting dark, and i have to leave soon. I don’t want to worry Sam.”
Tara opens a heart-shaped locket around her neck with a picture of you and her in it. Bringing it to her lips, a few stray tears run down her face. “Happy 24th birthday, my love”

matilda’s x reader
this one’s a long one so rip
also pls keep sending request lol i need ideas
your a rookie on the squad, struggling to find your footing in a team that you don’t think you fit into. what happens when a certain conflict arises between you and one of your teammates?
angst, little bit of fluff, 5k+ words
I couldn’t really give you a timeline on when I started to space out, when I started to check out. I knew chronologically it would have had to be a few weeks ago, after the world cup had started, just after my whole life had become a shit storm. It was a process, checking out of your own life, it took time, I think that’s why I couldn’t tell you the one moment that I started to, because there wasn’t an exact moment. Slowly the days just all start to smudge into one big mess, you can’t tell people what day it is anymore or when your last meal was. Which sounds stupid, because those are just mundane things. When you check out of life though those things stop mattering, for me I either sleep obtusely or I don’t sleep at all, I don’t eat, I forget how to look after myself. I try to be discreet about it for as long as I can, but eventually people catch on, especially when you are playing professional sport, because you are surrounded by doctors and athletes that know the signs of burnout.
At around two weeks, I think, I could tell my team was catching onto my behaviour. I was a mess, I came to breakfast in the morning with puffy red eyes from crying at night, I didn’t really talk to anyone unless I had to, I was always tired, I kept to myself a little bit too much. It was a matter of time until I was approached, probably told off for having a shitty attitude. I had predicted that, expected it. What I hadn’t expected was to be pretty much cornered in my locker before training by our team captain, Sam Kerr.
As one of the youngest on the team it was safe to say that I was pretty much terrified of our skipper. Not that Sam was a scary person, she was lovely, considerate to a fault. But she was terrifying in a sense that we all knew heading into the world cup she had one ambition and that was to win at home, at all costs. That’s a little bit intimidating, especially when you know that she is prepared to hand you your ass on a silver platter if you do absolutely anything to jeopardise that ambition.
I’d been sitting in my cubby, lacing my cleats up. Both of my airpods in, hoodie on, tracksuit on, puffer jacket hood on. If I didn’t scream unapproachable I don’t know what did. I’d been sitting there a little bit too long I think, staring at my shoe lace for a little bit long, long enough for someone to point me out to Sam. I’d gotten the fright of my life when Sam’s hand had very gently connected with my shoulder. I’d flinched back almost immediately, before turning around and realising where the contact had come from. Sam looked a little bit offended by my sudden reaction to her touch, but the concern left her facial expression fairly quickly.
“Are you okay kid?”
I hated that question. Three words that drove me insane. I don’t think anyone ever answered that question honestly, because it was so blunt. How were you supposed to honestly answer a person you didn’t trust with the answer to the question.
I pulled my airpods out of my ears purely out of respect, even though I could hear Sam perfectly clear.
“Fine, Cap.”
I thought my words would have been enough of an indicator that I didn’t want to talk to her but she’d taken it as an invitation instead to sit down on the bench beside me.
“You don’t look fine.”
I bit the inside of my cheek, hard enough to draw blood, and focused on completing the task of lacing up my cleats.
“Well I am.”
My answers were short and snappy, closed off. They didn’t leave room for imagination or interpretation. I was a blunt person, I spoke bluntly, I reacted to things bluntly. I’d always been that way and I was pretty sure I’d never change.
“Do you want to talk about it? Because I’m here for you.”
I gulped and finished tying up my first cleat, moving on to pulling the second one over my sock covered left foot. I always put the left one on first, it had become routine for me, that was how I’d tied them before I’d won my first game and I’d stuck with it, it was a superstition that I’d never been able to break and I didn’t see why I should break it now.
“I don’t have anything I need to talk to you about.”
My voice was betraying me, my voice and my eyes. I knew Sam would pick up on my aversion to looking at her in the eyes. I could blame it on focusing on tying up my shoes but she was also sitting directly above them and every time I lifted my eyes I just happened to focus on the wall behind her instead.
“Doesn’t seem that way, Ellie told me that she’s heard you crying in your ensuite at night, she says you don’t sleep very much, which I think your under eyes are enough supporting evidence.”
I let my eyes drift over to Ellie, she was standing on the complete opposite side of the locker rooms, talking anxiously to Kyra and Hailey. As soon as she looked up and met my eyes I could tell that Sam’s approach to me had been driven by her, the anxious look in her eyes was enough of a giveaway.
“Ellie doesn’t know what she’s talking about, the girl talks in her sleep most of the time or she’s on the phone to her girlfriend, I don’t think she’d be able to recall my night time activities.”
I focused back in on my cleats, knotting them furiously with my hands that I had now realised were shaking.
“She seemed to have a pretty good idea, we’ve all seen you’ve been checked out recently. I get if you don’t want to talk about it now around the girls. You seem to be having a bad day. So how about you get yourself through training and then you and I have a chat in private?”
It was phrased as a question but nothing about how she’d said the words came out as a proposition, it was an order. I would have tried to object but I knew it would be useless, Sam had made her mind up and once Sam had made up her mind there was no changing it.
“Sounds good skipper.”
My voice was nothing but dripping with sarcasm, it was my only way of pushing out my very clear distaste with the idea of having to talk to Sam after training. As soon as Sam stood up and I’d checked that both of my cleats were on properly I marched right over to Ellie, pulling her away from the conversation she was in and back over to my locker.
“I don’t know who the fuck you think you are but telling on me to cap isn’t going to get you fucking brownie points with me, we aren’t friends Ellie, we’re not sleepover buddies. I am working tooth and nail here to be fucking respected and I just got a proper emotional dressing down from Kerr that was pretty much just her telling me that I needed to get my act together. If that doesn’t scream out not fucking respected than I don’t know what does.”
I watched all of the colour drain from Ellie’s face as she slowly became far more uncomfortable in the conversation. She wasn’t backing down though.
“I don’t know what fucking planet you are on y/n/n but we are just looking out for you. I hear you at night in the bathroom, sobbing and balling your eyes out. That doesn’t scream out okay to me. Sam wasn’t giving you a dressing down she was asking you if you were fucking okay, something that we’ve all wanted to do for a few weeks now, we were just all scared to because we thought you were going to rip our heads off, like you are doing to me right now. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about you right now because how you’ve been behaving as of late isn’t fucking normal and anybody in there right mind would be worried about you.”
Ellie and I’s argument had escalated enough that I could tell most of the locker room's attention had fallen to our heated conversation, neither of us were ready to back down though and that much was evident in how strong both of our glares at each other held.
“Fuck you, you aren’t the person who gets to decide whether or not I’m okay or not. So what if I’ve been keeping to myself? Maybe I needed some down time away from this fucking extroverted team that never gives me a fucking break.”
It was a personal dig, one that I had said far too loudly in a crowded room of girls that I actually really loved, it had been like word vomit though, getting thrown out in me and Ellie’s fight.
“That’s not fair and you know it, all anybody here has done is be nice to you and you’ve been a fucking dick to everyone for the last few weeks, it’s not normal. You were so happy at training camp but ever since we’ve gotten here you’ve lost your shit and it’s fucking pathetic because we are your team and family and you should trust us more than anybody else but you don’t you don’t give two shits about anybody here besides yourself and we can all see it. It’s embarrassing having your represent us in your current condition. Your a wreck. You didn’t deserve to be brought up from the under 20’s. Maybe if you spent less time in our bathroom at nighttime crying about how hard your sorry ass life was you’d realise there are people and things on earth that are more fucking important than you are.”
Ellie’s words had taken the air out of my lungs, it wasn’t what I’d expected and even her facial expression reflected that she was a little bit taken aback by her own words. They were personal, really personal. I blinked a few times, trying to get a footing in the conversation but I couldn’t, because what was I supposed to say to a person accusing me of being a selfish heartless team mate? Me and Ellie stood stock still, just staring at each other, both of us obviously waiting for the other to keep talking but neither of us could.
“Ellie Madison Carpenter, out on the field, right now.”
Steph’s voice echoed against the walls of the changerooms, everyone else was standing completely silent and still in the room. I looked around the locker rooms, aware that literally everyone besides Sam who had left the locker rooms after her talk to me had just heard Ellie’s speech. I was too shocked to do anything besides plaster my hand against my mouth and run directly into the bathroom that connected to the change rooms. I did my best to not let any tears fall until I’d locked the disabled bathroom door behind me and I’d slid down onto the floor. Was that actually what the team thought of me? That I was a selfish, useless, coldhearted bitch who was just here for herself? Ellie’s words had hurt my heart and soul, because I didn’t play for myself, I hadn’t ever.
I consciously could hear the frantic knocking on the bathroom door but my subconscious was doing its best to tune it out.
“Y/n, open the door, please.”
“Fucking Ellie, that kid has no fucking filter.”
“How are we supposed to explain to Cap that she locked herself in the bathroom?”
“Fuck we were supposed to be on the field five minutes ago, Tony is going to have a field day giving us fucking suicide sprints.”
Those were a few of the sentences that I made out through the door. They were enough to tell me that I needed to get my shit together, because one thing I couldn’t handle on top of the team thinking I was all of those things was the team thinking I was the fucking emotional mess that everyone seemed to think I was. So after letting whatever tears I had left fall, I flushed the toilet, in an attempt to try and disguise the sound of me furiously washing the redness off of my face then I walked towards the door, took a deep breath and unlocked it. Hailey and Macka were both waiting outside and were very clearly surprised by my exit from the bathroom.
“Alanna, don’t worry about getting skip, she’s out.”
I bit the inside of my mouth again, satisfied with the irony taste of my own blood filling my mouth.
“Sorry, just feeling a little bit sick.”
It was very clear none of them believed my excuse. I tried to push past them though, trying my hardest to avoid whatever awkward confrontation that I was apparently bound to, because both Ras and Mackenzie stopped me before I could take a step.
“Y/n. What Ellie said wasn’t true and it’s okay for you to feel emotions about that, she let the heat of the moment get to her.”
I gulped, swallowing the mixture of blood and sweat that was resonating in my mouth.
“I told you, I feel sick. I don’t give a shit what Ellie has to say, she’s very welcome to her own opinions, this is a free country, she has an issue I’d rather her say it to my face.”
My words were faulty, untrustworthy, like ice that was slowly cracking.
“You are allowed to be upset at her for saying that about you, it was mean and she was trying to get to you. It’s okay for you to have emotions about that.”
I pursed my lips, I hated confrontation. Confrontation was terrifying.
“I told you I just felt sick, I still do. I need to go talk to Tony, can I leave or am I being held hostage until I talk about emotions that I don’t have or feel right now?”
Hayley and Mackenzie both looked between each other, trying to think up another plan of attack but clearly not finding anything telepathically between themselves.
“You are free to go, we’re here for you if you need to talk.”
I rolled my eyes at the two of them.
“Thanks, I’ll keep a mental note next time I need a therapist to talk about my nonexistent selfish feelings with.”
The sarcasm rolled off of my tongue too easily as I walked out of the locker rooms and into the tunnel, slowly making my way out onto the field. It was night training, so the ground was cold and the bright white fluorescent lights were blaring down across the pitch. I looked out across the ground, the girls had already started running whatever drills they’d been instructed to start with which led me to ask myself the question of how long had I actually locked myself in that bathroom for?
I made my way straight over to Tony who was looking at me in that way he tended to when he was thinking about something.
“Ms y/l/n.”
He smiled at me, a little bit too kindly for my liking.
“Coach, I’m feeling a bit sick, I think I might have eaten something funny this morning, probably that granola that looked like it had been sitting out for a little bit to long, I think I should probably just rest for tonight, unless you want a granola vomit mess to deal with.”
Tony’s eyes studied me, my body language, silently assessing my every move.
“It wouldn’t have anything to do with what happened between you and Ms Carpenter?”
Fuck, that was me exposed. I looked down to my cleats, by default, because I couldn’t look into his eyes knowing that he knew I was lying straight to his face.
“She approached me, told me that she’d said some things to a teammate before coming out for warm ups that she was sorry for, that I should sit her out for a game because of it. Wouldn’t tell me who she’d spoken to, which made me think it must have been pretty serious.”
I gulped anxiously, fuck. Fuck Ellie for making this whole night a flaming hot pile of shit.
“It wasn’t anything bad, I feel sick, it’s got nothing to do with Ellie, I’m a big girl, I can handle my own problems, she shouldn’t sit out for a week, we need her.”
I let my eyes cross the field, to where Ellie was, her whole complexion had paled dramatically and she looked like she’d just been on a really high rollercoaster.
“We also need to look out for the safety of our players. I'm going to ask you this once and I want you to tell me the complete truth. Did Ellie personally attack you in the change rooms before training tonight? Don’t lie to me, I’ll ask one of your team mates if you do and I don’t want to hear that their answers were any different to yours.”
I bit down hard on my mouth tissue, there was a part of me that wanted to lie for Ellie, even though it would probably land us in more trouble, there was also a part of me that wanted to hand her in, even though in my eyes she hadn’t really done anything wrong, she’d said her peace.
“We were both giving it to each other, she gave as much as she got. I deserve to sit out a week just as much as she does if we’re referencing words said to each other, we were both rude, we got stuck up in the heat of the moment. I promise you, with every bone in my body that it won’t ever happen again, I swear to you.”
One thing that my brother told me when we were growing up was how to effectively lie. There was an art to the practice of lying. The first rule was body language, everyone had a tell, it was about identifying yours and then figuring out how to stop it or disguise it. For example, my youngest brother would always tap his left foot when he was lying. Rule number two is eye contact. You need to make some, but not so much that it’s creepy. People can tell when you refuse to make eye contact with them, so you need to occasionally. Third is your voice, it needs to be steady, your pitch and tone need to be consistent, one of the easiest tells is a raised voice when you lie. The fourth rule is physical change, this one is probably the hardest, because there isn’t anything you can do to stop yourself if you get clammy hands when you are lying, you just have to disguise it. The fifth and final rule is words, you need to use enough that your sentences are coherent but don’t over-sell yourself, summarise what needs to be said, instead of reading off a whole backstory.
I’d broken number five and two whilst talking to Tony and I could tell that he was picking up on it. He looked between me and the field before calling over one of my teammates.
“Mary, can I have you for a second.”
I gulped down the lump that was forming in the back of my throat when Fowler finished off the drill she was doing and ran over to the sideline to stand beside the coach and I.
“What can I do for you, coach?”
He smiled at her, I’d very quickly noticed that Mary was one of his favourites, rightfully so. She was a hard worker but she was also kind, Matilda’s captain material for the future.
“Can you give me a run down of what happened in the lockers before training between Ellie and y/n, from my understanding there was a small altercation, but both of them aren’t telling me the whole story and I don’t have time for beating around the bush.”
I looked at Mary, silently praying for her to downplay it, maybe she hadn’t heard much of it. She was the one to pick if you wanted an honest answer, she couldn’t lie for the life of her, I knew that much. She bit her lip subtly, thinking thoroughly before she said anything.
“None of us heard how it started, we all knew that y/n/n was the one to drag Ellie over to her locker after Cap spoke to her. They were arguing, it seemed harmless. Until Ellie was yelling in y/n/n’s face.”
Tony nodded at her inquisitively, clearly very invested in what she had to say.
“Did you hear what Ms Carpenter was saying to Ms y/l/n?”
I gulped, shaking my head as subtly as I could at Mary, this whole encounter was a headache.
“Look, it’s not really something I’m comfortable with repeating.”
I knew Mary was trying to be helpful but I also knew that statement was going to backfire on her because it made the whole situation sound a lot worse than it was.
“Mary, if you don’t tell me I will get someone else too, please don’t make this any harder than it has to be.”
Mary herself gulped anxiously, her eyes frantically darting between Tony and myself. I nodded at her, clearly seeing her distress and just giving her the permission to say her peace, because apparently it was going to get said anyways.
“She was yelling at y/n/n about how y/n/n was selfish and didn’t give a shit about anybody beside herself. I heard her using something about y/n crying in their bathroom at night against her, saying that she was too worried or self obsessed to care about anyone else on the team. I wasn’t close enough though to tell you exactly what either of them said. I was on the other side of the room, Steph was the closest, if you want information I’d be asking her, not me.”
I could feel my hands shaking in my pockets, this whole situation was giving me anxiety.
“Okay then, thank you, can you go fetch Steph for me, just tell her to come over here.”
Mary nodded at coach, before sending me a silent sorry smile before running back out onto the pitch.
Coach pointed to the bench that was on the sidelines a few feet behind us, silently motioning for me to follow him and take a seat down on it.
“Based on what I’ve just been told, I think that Ellie should sit out for a week, her behaviour towards you was unacceptable and she needs to understand there are repercussions for those kinds of situations. Y/n I know that you’ve struggled to find your footing in the team, I’ve seen you struggling with your mental health. I’m here for you if you ever need to talk about it or if you need help. If those struggles mean that you need to separate yourself from the team then that is what you do, regardless of the decisions you make you are a valued member on this team and you don’t deserve to be verbally assaulted because Ellie has a problem with you.”
I pursed my lips, I didn’t think I’d been verbally assaulted, if anything I’d started it.
“Coach, I started it with Ellie. She didn’t even mean what she said, we need her this week, it’s an important game that we can’t afford to have her miss. I don’t want to be the reason we lose this week just because me and Ellie had a minor altercation, it was nothing.”
I couldn’t ignore the deep frown on his face, it was a mixture of concern and disappointment and it went straight to my heart.
“Coach? Mary said you need to speak to me?”
Both of our heads snapped up at the sudden sound of Steph’s voice. She was standing about a foot away from us, her brow furrowed in my direction.
“Steph, yes, I’m just having some trouble understanding the altercation that went down before warm ups with Ms Carpenter and Ms y/l/n. Ms y/l/n is trying to take the whole blame for it and I don’t really believe the whole story that she’s giving me, so if you could please give me some insight it would be much appreciated, as I am taking this very seriously.”
Steph’s eyes went straight to mine, she was my fellow Arsenal team mate, probably the only person on our Matilda’s squad who I could actually call my friend. She was frowning at me deeply, trying to study my facial expression.
“Y/l/n started it, she pulled Ellie up after having a chat with skipper, but from what I heard she was more just annoyed that Ellie had told skipper about some of her more concerning habits. Ellie was mad about being pulled up on it, typical Ellie fashion she took it to heart and she made it personal. I do recall her calling saying something along the lines of if y/n spent less time in their bathroom at nighttime crying about how ‘hard’ her sorry ass life was then she’d realise there were people and things on earth that are more fucking important than you she was, Ellie also made a lot of comments about y/n/n being a selfish person who didn’t give a shit about any of the people around her. Y/n/n might have technically started it but in her defence she didn’t say anything personal or wrong to Ellie, she was just voicing her annoyance about Ellie telling on her to Sam, Ellie was trying to voice her concerns over Y/n/n but it came out wrong and she was trying to make light of a situation that was not hers to talk about in a public space, it was unprofessional and distasteful behaviour from both of them but Ellie was the one who escalated it and made it worse. All y/n really did was tell Ellie to leave her alone and stop pushing, when Ellie did push too far y/n rushed to the bathroom and locked herself in there. Ellie’s behaviour was unacceptable to say the least and I’ve told her, I’m sure Sam will as well once I talk to her about it. I’ve told Ellie she has to apologise to y/n/n and that kind of behaviour won’t be tolerated towards anybody let alone her own teammate.”
Steph’s rundown of the situation was more factual and foolproof then any of the other versions Gustavsson had received and I knew that he was going to believe everything she’d told him.
“Okay, thank you, I really appreciate your transparency on the situation. I made the right call making you interim captain whilst Sam was out. That’s all I should need for now, feel free to go back to what you were doing, I’ll be out there in a minute.”
Once Steph was out of earshot Tony turned to me, clearly a little bit taken aback by all of the information he’d just absorbed.
“You are going to sit out tonight, call it sickness or whatever you please. I want you to stay and watch though, you should be here and you deserve to be here. I’m going to talk to Ellie after training, and just because you don’t seem to want her sitting out I’ll see how remorseful she is and make my roster decision for this weekend based off of that. I know she’s your teammate and you feel like you are taking one for the team by enabling her behaviour towards you and maybe it was a one off, just a heat in the moment thing as you called it. Maybe it wasn’t though, I’m not going to take chances. I want you to think about your own actions as well, think about how you could have dealt with that situation more effectively. Once training’s over you are going to head back to the hotel with the girls and you are going to spend time with them, proper bonding time.”
I nodded at coach, I didn’t have it in me to argue with him.
“Coach, I’m rooming with her.”
It was my main concern, not that Ellie scared me, I’d pretty much ignored her the whole tournament, not that she spent a lot of time in our room anyways, she spent all of her free time until curfew in other teammates rooms.
“Talk to Kerr about it, get her to switch them around, I’m sure it’s not that difficult. Switch rooms, relax for the night, get some sleep, be back here tomorrow. I don’t care whether or not you feel up to training, just be here. This team is your family and whether or not it feels like it they care a lot about you, they are here to support you if you let them. Sometimes you just need to take the leap of faith.”
I nodded at coach. He was a gentle soul, a good one. He reached over to me, offering me a hug and I took it, letting him wrap his arms around my shoulders. It was nice, it didn’t last long but it felt nice. Once he was done giving me a hug he stood up and followed Steph out onto the field.
I found myself gravitating to a spot directly on the sideline, where our team manager was stationed. She didn’t ask any questions as I sat down on the frosty grass beside her station, I was grateful for that much. I hadn’t talked to her much but she seemed lovely and in the very little interactions I had had with her she had gone above and beyond to make me comfortable in whatever we were doing.
I spent my training, sitting on the grass, watching the team as they ran through a few drills and plays before moving into a full scrimmage. I kept my body tucked in, my knees to my chest, my puffer jacket and hoodie wrapped tightly around my legs and torso to pull my knees even further into my chest. It was a blessing that they’d designed waterproof sweatpants, because I would have probably had a cold and wet ass if they hadn’t. Somewhere along the way our team manager offered me a packet of gummy bears and I couldn’t find it in me to decline her offer, so I snacked on the gelatinous pieces of sugar whilst I watched the training slowly come to an end.
They finished with PK’s and then concluded the session. I stayed seated in my little spot, I hoped that no one had spotted me and maybe if I waited for everyone to slip off the field and into the locker rooms I would just be able to hop onto the bus without being detected. My plan pretty much backfired immediately when a certain captain beelined directly towards me, clearly I hadn’t gone unnoticed to her. I grimaced as she got closer to my spot, my spot that my head had deemed as a safe spot from the rest of my teammates.
Sam didn’t even acknowledge me to begin with, instead turning her attention to our team manager, making pretty common conversation with her. She spoke to her for a few minutes, it was afternoon tea talk, just bullshit. Sam’s specialty. Eventually when she finished up she looked down at me, an eyebrow raised. She motioned for me to stand up and follow her, so stupidly, like a puppy, I did. My muscles were cold and I’d be lying if I said that getting up from the ground hadnt been a little bit harder than I’d predicted. I managed though and caught up to Sam, following after her as she walked back down the tunnel but instead of turning into the locker rooms we kept walking down the corridor until we came to the video review room. It was pretty much just a conference room, one big room with a bunch of tables and chairs that we used to scout and review our own games. Sam closed the blinds to the room, so no bye passers could see in and turned the lights on.
She seated herself at one of the tables, gesturing for me to do the same, so I did. The first thing Sam did was pull out her phone and start typing something or another before looking up at me.
“Steph told me about what happened between you and Ellie.”
I gulped, biting my lip as I tried my hardest to maintain my eye contact with Sam, I wasn’t going to break, not again. I watched as Sam’s finger made its way to her mouth and she bit down on her nail in a questioning kind of way that I couldn’t explain even if I tried.
“I started it, I was pissed off at her for ratting on me to you.”
My honesty would be appreciated, I knew that Sam valued honesty above anything else.
“I don’t really care who started it, I care about togetherness, you know that. This team needs one thing, cohesion. I don’t care who started it, I care about who the problem was and in that situation it was Ellie, she said things that she had no business saying, with the intention of hurting you. That’s enough to tell me that in that situation she was prepared to jeopardise our team just so she could tear down one of our own. I’ve recommended to Tony that she sits out this week. He told me you were apprehensive about it, I wanted to know why.”
There was a simple answer, and a more complex answer, a part of me knew which one Sam wanted.
“Short answer, Ellie is a crucial part of our team, we need her. Long answer, I don’t think she did anything wrong.”
Sam looked up at me, a little bit shocked.
“Look y/n, it’s clear there's been a lot on your mind recently. A lot that you clearly aren’t prepared to share, and that's okay. I saw on the sideline tonight, you looked like you were mentally in a different place, like you were really worried thinking about something and you’ve been like that for a few weeks. I know that you have trust issues, that you are finding it hard to slot into this team because you are scared to be vulnerable. I am here for you, I won’t judge you, I will help you with whatever you need help with, because I can tell there is something and until you do seek out help for it it is only going to destroy you further.”
Sam’s words receded in me, because she was so right that I couldn’t even try to deny it.
“Am I a selfish player and teammate?”
The words felt so raw coming out of my throat, it was something that Ellie had said that had stuck with me.
“No, I can honestly tell you you aren’t. You play football with so much grace and kindness that sometimes it drives me up the wall watching you help up your opponents who have tripped over. You aren’t a selfish person either, you are more reserved, that doesn’t make you selfish, it just makes you self aware, there is a big difference.”
I nodded at Sam, not sure what else there was for me to do. Her words were full of so much wisdom, so much insight. I still couldn’t find it in me to believe them fully though, my self deprecating brain not welcome to accepting any kind of form of praise.
“Look, change is hard. You are young, inexperienced. Staying somewhere that you’ve outgrown though is only going to destroy you. I know this is a big jump, I wouldn’t have reccomended for you to be here though if I didn’t think it was the right fit. You are a world class player, and a genuinely good person. When you smile, it lights up a room. Your laugh is contagious. It’s clear that you’ve never been cared for properly, never let yourself. You have a family now though y/n. You have people that you can go to when you are having a bad day, people that are going to love you no matter what. Use that, take advantage of it. A team doesn’t function without trust.”
There was something about Sams words that told me she actually understood what I was going through, she was dancing on a line of relating to me and giving me advice, the line was a little bit blurred though.
“Do you trust me?”
I let Sam’s words hang in the air for a few seconds, it took me a little while to formulate a reponse.
“I don’t trust anyone, not even myself.”
Sam’s eyes, those brown orbs spoke to me, more than any words ever could to me.
“You don’t think people care for you.”
“Why would people care for me?”
There was so much insecurity behind the words, years of it all built up.
“I care, I’ll always care. Everyone should have somebody to care for them.”
“You have to care, your my captain.”
It was the last bit of defiance leaving my body, the last of my barriers being used.
“Partly, yes. It’s sort of my job. But I save it for the ones who need it and you seem to be in need.”
I rolled my eyes, another defence mechanism that I used to deflect, to avoid my emotions.
“I don’t need help.”
“Maybe not, but when you’re born in a burning house you think the whole world is on fire until someone shows you it isn’t.”
I didn’t fully understand her cryptic but I got the general idea.
“You implying I was born in a burning house?”
Sam’s head tilted, like she wasn’t denying my statement but also didn’t agree with it fully.
“I’m implying that you are here for a reason. That we are all here for different reasons, different driving factors. The difference between you and some of the other girls is that you are letting your past define you, when it doesn’t. The best part of being here is that when you are out on the pitch nobody cares about anything else, nobody could care less about what’s happened in your personal life. Use that, use that to be happy, to find your motivation. Trust me? Let me show you that this team isn’t just a group of girls, it can be your family if you want it to be.”
I looked at Sam flatly trying to figure out how serious she was, when he face didn’t falter I realised how serious she was and that scared me a little bit. I didn’t know if I was ready for that, ready for a family, ready to feel loved and appreciated. It wasn’t soemthing I’d ever really experienced.
“Y’know that it shouldn’t seem remarkable to you that people who love and care for you actually want to treat you well.”
Those words were the straw that broke my back. I couldn’t help but feel the tears well up in my eyes.
“y/n,” Sam’s voice drew my eyes up to her own “You are allowed to cry.”
I shook my head at her, bringing the sleeve of my jumper up to my eyes to rub at the tears escaping my eyes.
“I’m fine.”
“Are you though?”
It was the amount of questioning behind her face that threw me off, I knew she didn’t believe me but the amount of concern laced into her facial expression hit some place in my heart I didn’t know I had.
“You know that it’s okay to not be fine all the time. You are allowed to have feelings, to feel things other than numb. Look, feeling hurts. Life is pain, life is suffering. Being alive hurts, it’s horror and it sucks. But you are alive and it’s spectacular and brilliant because instead of just living you are alive.”
I continued rubbing at my eyes, trying my best to stop any of the tears running down my face.
“I’ll think about it cap, I think it’s about time for me to head back to the hotel.”
Before I could get up and completely leave the room Sam got in her final words.
“There are poeple around that would miss you y/n/n, people who would be gutted if anything ever happened to you. Just think about that.”

Sam Carpenter x fem!Reader request:
Reader is part of the friend group in Scream 6 and tends to ignore Sam. Sam thinks Reader doesn’t like her but in reality Reader is head over heels in love with Sam. At a party the gang plays truth or dare and Reader is so drunk which leads to her giving Sam all of her attention and compliments. Everyone is shocked and confused.
Next day the whole group agrees to see how long it will take for Reader to confess to Sam sober (Reader doesn’t remember what happened the night prior).
So despite Reader trying to continue ignoring Sam, Sam now constantly flirts with Reader which leads to Reader’s confusion, flusterness and the most horrible attempts to act like it doesn’t affect her. (Plot twist: she fails and the gang can’t stop themselves from laughing at/teasing her).
I decided to split this into two/potentially three chapters! Because I started writing and it was big. Hope you enjoy so far!
I also made it scream 6 AU where the killings never happened and the friendship are just chilling in college
You had been studying at college in New York for a few months, focusing more on education than anything.
When your class gets some new students, you’re stunned to recognise the group from the news, surviving ghostface attacks.
You become friends with Mindy first, bonded through a love of movies - then by extension, you meet Chad then Tara.
When Mindy starts dating Anika, the group begins to form alongside Chad’s roommate Ethan. It feels nice to have a group of friends to fall back on during college, and you all become close soon.
A big project is due, so you agree to hang out at Tara’s place. You know she shares it with her older sister, Sam - and another girl Quinn.
What you didn’t expect, is for Sam to be home that evening. Or to be so hot. You keep some distance immediately, being polite but never really getting to know Sam.
The rumours are everywhere. That it was her who orchestrated the killings last year.
You don’t believe them of course, but you guess Sam must be closed off, and should focus on her feelings - the last thing she needed was her little sister’s friend crushing on her.
The weeks pass and you grow closer to everyone except for Sam. You make excuses when left in situations alone together, and if necessary - you just don’t speak with her.
She’s painfully attractive, all tall and strong. You’ve seen her work out once, when Chad convinced you and Mindy it would be fun to do a ‘group gym sesh’.
The ‘sesh’ resulted in Mindy leaving after twenty minutes to ‘blow off steam’. “Poor anika” Chad had mumbled, resuming his heavy weights.
You grew bored, then distracted when you noticed a familiar face sprinting on a treadmill across the gym. Arms rippling and calves on display.
Your head spins back around so fast you almost headbutt poor Chad who gives you a confused look. “You okay?” He asks, steadying your shoulder.
”All good!” You fire back, focusing on his face. But Chad isn’t stupid and looks back to where you stared. He notices Sam and waves.
”Dude you need to sort out whatever’s happening with Sam”
His words make you freeze, surely he didn’t know about your crush? You had done such a good job to hide it. But before you could worry, he adds.
”Why don’t you like her? She thinks it’s something she’s done?”
You blink, feeling like a deer in the headlights. You should have really expected this. Ignoring someone only meant they’d thing you had something against them.
”I don’t” you grimace. “I mean I don’t dislike her. She’s fine. She’s cool”
Chad does not believe you, and his eyes linger for too long. He sighs in defeat. “Sure. But important question, you coming to the party tonight?”
This changes your mood and a smile stretches across your face as you both head for the shower. “Fuck yeah I am”.
...
Tara announces Sam is coming to the party and you’re a bit stunned. Aside from being a few years older, she’s declared on numerous occasions that she’s “not the party type”.
Clad in a short black dress, you join Tara in the living room as she waits for the others to finish getting ready. “I wonder why Sam’s coming” you try to fish
Ever oblivious, Tara ponders. “I think she’s just been a bit stressed with work. Wants some fun I guess”
Then she pauses and gives you a funny look. “You are cool with her coming?”
Her tone matches Chad’s from earlier and you frown. The last thing you wanted is for Tara to think you dislike her sister.
“No I’m fine!” You raise your hands maybe a bit too dramatically. “I just wondered thats all”
Tara hums but doesn’t look like she agrees, she drops the topic though. Greeting Chad as he comes in the room. Now it’s your turn to raise your eyebrow as the pair seem awfully close.
”Hey there” a pair of arms grab your shoulders and you startle. “Fuck Mindy. You need to stop doing that” you groan at your friend who smirks.
“Where’s the fun in that” she joins you on the couch, followed by Anika who rolls her eyes too. “She’s right babe, you really do need to stop that”
Mindy smiles up at her girlfriend and it’s your turn to tease - digging your elbow into her ribs. “Whipped” you cough, and she elbows you back
Before the play fighting can escalate, the door opens and Sam strolls out. You swallow hard at how good she looks, even in simple jeans, a shirt and light jacket.
”Ready to go?” She scans the group, and you turn last minute to deliberately miss her gaze. All is not lost though as you head behind her out the door, noting how good her ass looks in the tight jeans.
The party is like every other frat party Tara somehow bags an invite to, and convinces everyone it will be a new experience.
Mindy and Anika slink off to the couch to smoke weed and do other things you feel hopelessly jealous of.
Tara and Ethan are engaged in what looks like a very drunk game of beer pong (already) with Chad refereeing. Sam is .... somewhere, leaving you alone with Quinn.
You'd always got on amicable, not as close as the others but polite enough. But sometimes you’d feel her gaze lingering too long, especially when you wore more revealing clothes.
You couldn’t deny she was hot. Very much so. Though your mind was occupied by Sam, and you were happy enough single.
”How are you finding the party” she touches your arm, smirking and with the buzz of the alcohol already hitting your system, you don’t reject the touch.
”It’s good, good” you nod as she grazes your arm, eyes locked on yours.
“Do you want to...”
A voice interrupts before she can finish the sentence and surprisingly it’s Sam who stands near you both, awkward look on her face.
”Sorry to like, interrupt or whatever” she gestures between the pair of you, and you feel your cheeks already blush a deep red.
”But Tara’s demanding we all play truth or dare” she strolls off after that, and Quinn rolls her eyes but smiles at you. ”Better listen I guess”
It feels very juvenile, sitting crossed legged in a random bedroom with a bottle of vodka between them. Sam looks like she’s rather be anywhere else right now, and honestly you can’t blame her.
Tara is ... very drunk, so is Ethan and Chad - the trip barely coherent.
Mindy and Anika are giggly, holding onto each other with such love, so clingy that it reminds you how painfully single you are.
Quinn looks bored, but slightly amused at the antics.
The questions start off light, and you just pray there won’t be any queries about crushes.
The alcohol has made your tongue loose, and the room is starting to spin in a slow sway that has your head bopping along as though listening to music.
“Okay....” Quinn spins around the room, smirking before her eyes land on you. “Y/N. Truth or dare?”
You’d just chosen dare, taking a long shot of vodka from a plant vase so hoped Quinn would take pity on you for the truth.
”Truth” you match her gaze, sipping on your drink - beer abandoned for a vodka lemonade. She thinks for a short while, and you don’t like the devilish look in her eye.
”Who do you think the hottest person in the room is?”
Your mouth falls open, as you try to think of an acceptable response. You could just say yourself and play it off as a joke. But then, your brain can’t seem to catch up.
”Sam!” You blurt out, surprising everyone - but mainly Sam who jumps up at the sound of her voice, eyes widened. Quinn is grinning manically, almost like a comic book villain and Mindy rolls her eyes.
”Ohhhh” Chad smirks, whispering something into his sisters ear. You don’t hear though, too focused on Sam and her reaction.
She looks surprised but slightly pleased, a blush light on her cheeks. You should really just shut up, but once you open your mouth - you can’t close it.
”I’m just saying what I see!” You exclaim, hands flapping through the air. “And you look good Sam! Really good. I love the shirt. It suits you”
You start to ramble, letting your thoughts come out. Quinn is laughing, enjoying the whole debacle, and Tara looks visibly confused.
Sam looks ... shy? She mutters a quick “thanks” and looks away. Before you can continue the onslaught, Anika dares Ethan to drink his, Tara’s and Chad’s shots. At once.
Someone passes you a shot and the room starts to spin rapidly. You haven’t felt this drunk since you first tried alcohol with your cousins and the buzz is unlike anything else.
You notice things more. Like how Sam’s hair shines a pretty colour. Something you accidentally spill out, much to Mindy and now Chad’s amusement - and to Tara’s continual confusion.
“It just looks so shiny!” You tell Anika as you both head up to the bathroom. “And pretty. So glossy! I wonder what shampoo she uses” you continue to babble, washing your hands.
Anika is gentle with you in that typical way of hers, so caring as she listens with a bright smile and a nod. Out of the group, she probably had drunk the least, settling more for some weed and snuggling into Mindy’s lap.
“I know babe” she hands you a towel to dry your hands, grip firm on your shoulders as she safely guides you down the stairs.
“And her makeup! It brings out her eyes. Don’t you agree?” You turn on the stairs, almost knocking the pair of you over, giggling.
”Very pretty” Anika indulges you, nodding as she marches you over to the group. “Back in one piece” she returns you like some sort of parcel and the thought makes you erupt into more laughter.
The game dies out as you all drink casually, somehow your head finds it way into Tara’s lap as she smooths your hair gently. “Fuck” you moan, feeling as if you’re on the moon.
Tara giggles, as drunk as you - if not, more. “Fuck” she repeats, and the pair of you erupt into loud laughter.
It’s late. Very late. And not even the weekend either. Everyone has class or work tomorrow, so you all call it a day.
Quinn vaguely knows the guy hosting the party who lets you all stay.
Anika and Mindy take another bedroom, so do Chad and Tara. Leaving you, Ethan, Quinn and Sam.
Before you can assign the rooms, you’re already falling asleep on someone’s shoulder - ignoring their calls as you let sleep take you away.

You felt such a rush when you found out just 2 weeks ago. You had been experiencing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, cravings, late period timelines, tiredness, all signs of pregnancy.
Thats when you took a pregnancy test. It came out positive. You were both happy and worried, afraid for the future, but just excited for it as well. You knew who the baby belonged to. Ethan Landry, your boyfriend for about 3 years.
You only slept with him, and recently, you both had unprotected sex. It had to be his, so you got a DNA test. He wasn't aware. You weren't going to tell him just yet, and with the ghost face impressions? Hell no. You didn't tell anybody, which is what you should've done.
Maybe then, would Ethan warn Quinn to be so careful with you, but no. The world had to curse you.
You felt so heartbroken when Quinn, detective Bailey and Ethan turned out to be ghostface. It wasn't supposed to be that way. No.
You were supposed to catch the fucker with Tara, Sam, Anika detective Bailey, and everyone else...Then get your happy ending by telling everyone you're pregnant and it was your boyfriends, Ethan.
But all those plans were dropped when you felt a sharp blade force its way into your stomach, where your baby laid.
Quinn had stabbed you in your stomach, due to the way she saw you hold your stomach. Not thinking too much about it, she thought you had an easily disturbed stomach so that stomach became her number 1 stabbing spot for you.
"[Name!]," Tara shouted. "Not one step, Tara," detective Bailey pushed her away., to which Sam caught her.
Ethan winced at the sight of Quinn stabbing you. "Quinn, maybe you should " Quinn cut him off. "Not now, Ethan!" She chuckled and twisted the knife in your stomach. No...no...no, no, no, no!
"Pay back for stabbing me in the shoulder, bitch." Quinn's smile grew further, and with all your strength, you pushed her back, causing her to loosen her grip on the knife and stumble back.
You let out an ear piercing shriek, to Quinns satisfaction. Ethan felt otherwise. He felt sick. His own girlfriend, getting stabbed right before his eyes. It felt...wrong.
You sobbed and pulled the knife out of you, dropping down to the ground in an instant while muttering, 'No, no, no, no, no's...'
Though, Quinn didn't expect you to drop down like you're giving up after putting up a hell of a fight, and muttering, 'no's'
She expected you to scream, scream at her, Ethan, anything, but you seemed more focused on your stomach. Why? She shook her head along with the thoughts too.
She grabbed the knife and moved forward, not wanting to waste any time killing you. Ethan had other plans, but both of them halted their movements when they heard your shouts.
"MY BABY!"
What..? Did Ethan hear that correctly? Did ALL of them hear that correctly? "My sweet baby..." Sam stepped forward, detective Bailey didn't stop her though.
"You're...pregnant...?" guilt struck Sam, Ethan, and Tara. "I found out 2 weeks ago. Oh, god...no..." you continued to sob even more as you rubbed your wounded belly.
Ethan pushed Quinn out the way and tried to make his way towards you. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" He flinched away. Sam pushed him, and he tripped on his feet, landing his ass on the floor.
"YOU FUCKING POOR EXCUSE OF A BOYFRIEND. YOU COULDN'T EVEN NOTICED SHE WAS PREGNANT?" Quinn seethed with angry. "Don't talk to him like! " Tara banged the nearby metal. "Shut the fuck up! You're the one who stabbed her! Our friend...WHO IS PREGNANT!" Tara screamed, shutting Quinn up quickly.
Detective Bailey just stand there in shock, trying to process the fact that you were pregnant. I mean, he doesn't care. He still wants to kill you, but the shock just hits him.
"The fact you're the fucking father too.." Tara sneers at Ethan while tears build up in his eyes. He never meant to hurt you. He told Quinn to be careful around you so many times. She didn't listen, always calling him a 'pussy' for simply asking her to be more careful with you.
Now not only had he hurt you, the love of his life, but his child too. "Im sorry...[Name]...i i really am...im so sorry..." you just shake your head, which he starts sobbing to at your response. Quinn scoffs. "Why should you be sorry for this bitch! " Quinn falls back when Tara's fist comes straight for her face.
"I trusted you...I let you into my home, let you touch me...I was happy to have your baby, but now, NOW THAT CANT EVEN BECOME A POSSIBILITY!" Ethan sobs even more, averting your heart broken gaze.
Sam's by your side rubbing your arm. Ethans on his ass sobbing. Tara and Quinn are fist fighting, and detective Baileys still standing there in shock like a slow dumbass.
"I hate you..."
Your words hit him like a bullet, shattering every part of him. "No...no...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO, NO!" He sobs even more, a cry that would usually be so pretty, but now so ugly when his tainted true colors show. "Tha thats a lie! it has to be...!"
"Im sorry, Sam, Tara," You leaned into Sam as black dots danced in front of your vision. "[Name], stay with me. please!" Your body went limp, eyes closed, your breathing slowing down.
The last thing you heard was Ethan screaming your name.
˚ʚ✰ɞ˚˚ʚ✰ɞ˚˚ʚ✰ɞ˚˚ʚ✰ɞ˚˚ʚ✰ɞ˚˚
Your eyes flutter open. Police sirens stung your ears, while a crying Tara and relieved Sam hovered over your body. "Wha....what happened...?" Tara smiled sweetly. "The doctor said the baby was very protected, and that the knife didn't hit the baby...!" Your eyes lit up and you looked down at your stomach.
"The baby will be okay, as for Ethan, Quinn, and detective Bailey...Quinn, and Bailey are dead. Ethan...he helped us after you passed out, but he ran away after, and told us to tell you that he said he loves you."
You hummed and closed your eyes, while a lazy smile was placed on your lips.
Thought, you do wonder where Ethans might've ran off to. That was...until you got a note , and a phone call 9 months later...

part 1
Tumblr media
NEW YORK 2022
It's been 7 years since you've been in New York. You're wearing a white tee shirt, black bell bottoms medium high converse, a flannel, headphones, and well obviously your glasses. It's 12:27 A.M. Your friends wanted to meet up at a club, they thought you could loosen up a bit and hopefully find someone that you could well hookup with. You swore to yourself that you would fly back one day to Woodsboro to find Sam. That's if she didn't have a lover.
You pause your music, setting your headphones on the nape of your neck. Setting your hands inside your pockets, your friends come rushing out to greet you. Bella, one of the first friends you met there during high school when you had to transfer, went to go hug you, her arms drooped over your shoulders. Clearly drunk. You thought to yourself as you put your arms over her hugging her back.
"Tonight is the night Y/n will find a hookup!" You smiled awkwardly, as Bella slurs her words letting go of you, trying to find her balance. Your friends cheer as they walk back inside the club.
"You don't have to do this if your not comfortable." Your friend, Jules, stays behind with you.
"I rather much be spending time reading in my bed, but my my therapist said I have to be social." You smile at her, putting your arm around her.
"You have a therapist?" Jules smiles back at me.
You look over at Bella, smiling and enjoying herself. You point at her saying, "She's my therapist."
MODESTO 2022
Sam grabs her Anti-Physcotics from her pockets, quickly putting it in her mouth while downing her water that she grabbed from the floor besides her. Richie comes out eyeing Sam of what she's taking.
"Excuse me miss, what'd you just take?" Richie says, smiling while taking a seat next to Sam.
"Your boner pills, good luck getting it up now." Sam jokes.
"You are my boner pills." Sam's phone rings, seeing "POSSIBLE: Wes Hicks." She decides to ignore it.
"You're so cheesy."
Her phone rings again, debating or not to pick it up. What could go wrong?
"I need to take this." Sam gets up answering it, putting the phone to her ear.
"Hey, what's going on?"
"Sam? Uh Tara was attacked." The way her face drops as she hears the news.
"What? Is she?"
"She's alive." She feels relief flow throughout her body, relaxing herself.
"She was... Stabbed."
"What-" Wes interrupts Sam.
"She made it through surgery, and the doctors said it went well, she's resting now, and I know you guys aren't in the best terms but- uh"
"I'm on my way." Sam breathes slowly her heart thudding through her ribcage.
"She's going to be okay, Sam."
"Do they know who did this..?"
"It's better if you come here."
"Wes." Sam says through the phone sternly.
"She said it was someone in a fucking Ghostface mask."
She hangs up, and Richie makes his way over to Sam.
"Is everything okay?"
"My sister was attacked."
"I gotta go."
"Woah, hey, hey, hey," Richie goes over to Sam, hugging her. "It's going to be okay."
NEW YORK
You wake up, propping yourself up with your elbows. You can feel your head pounding, you look to your right, seeing Bella next to your sleeping soundly. Wait.. No, god tell me I didn't sleep with her. Those words ran through your head, as you looked around seeing your shirt thrown to the other side of the room, your bra still intact around your body, and your flannel on the couch on the edge of her bed. You look to your left seeing your phone ringing.
"POSSIBLE: Samantha Carpenter."
"Sam.." You said lowly under your breath, getting up quickly, accidently falling causing a thud. You check up to see if Bella woke. Phew. Oh right! Sam! You whip your head over back to the nightstand, hovering your finger above the answer button. You press it, rushing to the bathroom, closing the door.
"Hello?"
"Y/n?" Sam says with worry in her voice. You can feel your body lighten up.
"Hey.. Sam." You feel a smile grow on your face.
"I need you.. to come back to Woodsboro. Something happened to Tara."
"What?" You said with a confused tone.
"Y/n, please, I'll explain it to you when you come."
"But I'm-" You hear the phone beep. Sam hung up. "in New York."
Fuck. Now how are you going to get out of Bella's apartment without her noticing.
"Y/n?"
Well too late to try and sneak out now. You open the door, and wave at her.
"Hey, Bells.. Sorry I had to use the bathroom real quick."
You grab your pants from the floor, putting one leg through the hole, and doing the same to the other. You grab your shirt putting your head first, and then your arm, casually getting stuck trying to find the hole.
"What happened last night?" You hear Bella ask you, as she covers herself with the blanket, sitting up in bed.
*FLASHBACK*
The door opens with a kick of Bella's shoe as she continued to kiss you. Your hands roam all over her body, playing with the hem of her shirt. She pulls back, allowing you to take off her shirt, and yours as well. You push her up against a wall, playing with the button of her jeans.
"Y/n." She moans out.
You feel weak in the knees hearing her say your name in that tone.
Next thing you know your both naked, a harness around your body with a dildo attached to it.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"I don't know," You lie, biting the inside of your cheek, "I was pretty wasted last night."
"Where are you going?" Bella ask a little sincere in her voice.
"California."
"What?"
"I'm sorry, Bella, I gotta go."
"Wait, Y/n!"
You grab your headphones, and your backpack. Going to her front door.
"I love you, Bella." You opened the door, and left it at that.
Maybe you had a problem with those three words.
I love you.

Find my way back to you pt 6
previous chapter || next chapter || series page
Pairing: Sam Carpenter x Fem!OC
Summary: Estelle convinces Dewey to help them.
Warnings: punching, cursing, Richie being an annoying bitch.
notes: how are we liking this so far? sorry it took me forever to post, i haven’t been motivated to write. i’m trying to finish a request but i don’t wanna make any promises that it’ll be out any time soon!
(word count: 7327)
Tumblr media
being in the car with an ex and her new boyfriend was never how Estelle imagined she’d be spending her day. she never really thought she’d ever seen even see Sam again, let alone have to meet her new weird boyfriend. seriously, Sam could do way better than him.
Estelle had always been possessive, just as much as Sam had been when they were younger and that feeling had risen up during the twenty minute car ride. she wanted to ignore it, wanted to throw it up and never have to feel it again but that wasn’t how it worked. she hated it, hated being on the sidelines and hated seeing Sam be with someone else. she wanted Sam to look at her, wanted Sam to kiss her, to love her, to hold her hand and not his, to tell her she needed her and not him. she wanted to be the person Sam went to when she needed to talk, the person Sam trusted with everything.
but she wasn’t and she’d never be that again. she had to accept that, had to realize that Sam being back didn’t mean anything. how could she though? how could she when all she ever wanted was to be in her arms again, to kiss her lips and to hear those three words from her and only her.
it wasn’t fair.
the car came to a stop, the engine was silenced and the raven girl took the key out of the ignition. all three of them took their seatbelts off and Richie had been the first to open the door and get out of the car, the two girls in front didn’t. “i can’t promise he’ll help us” she said looking at Sam.
the ex shrugged, “it doesn’t hurt to try” she said simply and followed her boyfriends actions in getting out and closing the door behind her. Estelle swallowed dryly, taking a deep breath and doing the same.
the couple followed Estelle up the steps, Dewey’s truck was parked out front meaning he was home. although that wasn’t much of a surprise, Estelle had seen first hand how much the divorce with Gale affected him and the only person the man really talked to was Judy. Estelle let out a breath when they reached the door, she knew he wouldn’t be keen on helping them and truthfully she was fully expecting him to say no, the idea alone was driven off pure hope more than anything else.
the girl brought her fist up to the door and knocked twice, immediately after she heard the man’s voice. “go away!”
she looked at Sam who was looking at the door as she spoke, “sorry to bother you, Mr. Riley. we just want to ask you a few questions”
“i don’t do interviews” they heard the man say through the door. Estelle chuckled softly.
“we’re not looking for an interview.” Sam said hoping that would be enough for him to finally open up. footsteps echoed and his face was looking at her through the glass on the door.
“give me one good reason why i should talk to you”
“im Billy Loomis’s daughter” Sam said making Estelle’s eyes snap toward her. why would she say that? that would just encourage him to be more hostile, the exact opposite of what they were hoping for. the locks on the door were being twisted which the three young adults could hear from the outside before the door swung open to reveal Dewey.
his eyes immediately landed on Estelle who was sporting a hopeful smile. “Estelle?” he asked surprised. Richie looked between them, obviously confused on what level they knew each other. had that not been obvious before?
“hey Dewey” she smiled “we kinda need your help here” she said hoping she could be the one to win him over. there a million thoughts swirling behind Dewey’s eyes and she understood why. this couldn’t be easy, especially not when Sam decided to expose her father was.
“she’s Billy’s daughter” he said motioning toward Sam.
“my name is Samantha Carpenter.” the brunette said hoping he would rule out the first thing she said and that it wouldn’t be the only thing he could see in her. that wasn’t who she was.
Dewey’s eyes snapped toward Estelle when he heard the name. he cocked a brow at her whilst she tried to smile through the fear of having how he knew her name exposed in front of the couple. Judy had partnered the two up when Estelle was just starting, she hoped Dewey could be girls mentor which meant they spent most of their time together. that resulted in them telling each other a lot of thing that had to do with their private life and Sams name came up quite a lot. Estelle had heard all about Gale too.
“come on, Riley. her sister was attacked two days ago and she was attacked yesterday at the hospital.” she said adding to her already very transparent desperation. she needed him, she didn’t know anyone else that could help with it.
Sam glanced at Estelle and then turned to face Dewey, “i’m just trying to protect my family” she added, desperate to say anything at all to convince him to help them.
he sighed, “fine. for you” he said looking at Estelle who shot him a grateful smile. “come in” he said moving his body aside so the three young adults could come inside.
Estelle’s ears perked at the voice coming from the television, she glanced at Dewey who was reaching for the controller to turn it off. she always wondered why the two never got back together, he seemed to really love her and although Estelle had never met Gale she figured having someone love you so much would be more than enough for her to love him back. maybe that didn’t work for everyone.
“Gale Weathers,” Richie pointed out, “weren’t you two, um..”
“yeah” Dewey replied simply. he went to the front door to close it as Sam and Richie sat together on the long couch. Estelle stood to the side, arms crossed as she waited impatiently for them to talk so she could get the hell out of there and not have to look at Richie and her ex any longer.
every time she looked at them it was a reminder that she had left, she left even when she promised she wouldn’t, even when she promised she’d love her the way she deserved. guess she deserved empty promises and a girlfriend that left without even a fucking note.
Dewey took a sip out of his hot coffee and placed it on the table in front of him. “who’s he?” he asked, nodding toward Richie.
“oh, this is is Richie. my boyfriend.” Sam explained shifting a little closer to him. Estelle rolled her eyes at that. her hand closed into a fist and she squeezed it tightly, what a fucking joke.
“how long have you known him?”
“six months?” Sam tried to calculate.
“did he know who your dad was when you met? express any interest in Woodsboro or the ghostface killings?” Dewey asked making Estelle glance at the ginger boy. her heart picked up at Dewey’s words, she had her suspicions - which had nothing to do with him dating the girl she still loved - but now hearing Dewey say it just made her confirm that she was right to be suspicious.
“what the hell are you talking about?” Richie chuckled a little, glancing at the two girls in the room. he looked confused and a bit nervous. Estelle’s eyes narrows toward him. Sam looked at her boyfriend too but she didn’t seem all that suspicious of him.
“your killers obsessed with the Stab movies, right? well, there are certain rules to surviving a Stab movie.” he leaned back, vividly remembering all the trauma and attacks him and the two people he loved most had to go through. “believe me, i know”
Estelle had never heard the story of what happened, she had seen a couple of the Stab movies, sure, but Dewey never talked about it and Estelle never asked. there were certain lines that they both knew not to cross. Dewey never asked about Elias and Estelle never asked about the ghostface attacks. it’d be a shitty thing to do on both parts, it didn’t matter how curious they were, making either of the relive their past would just be cruel. they had to do it on their own every night anyway.
“rule number one: never trust the love interest.” Dewey stated as like it were pretty obvious in this situation. it was. Richie scoffed softly glancing at Sam to see if she was considering him being the killer. “they seem sweet, caring, supportive. then welcome to act three, where they’re trying to rip your head off.”
"i was with Sam in Modesto when Tara was attacked." Richie argued, not at all liking that he was getting blamed for all of this.
"and let me guess, you were just in the other room, conveniently unaccounted for when she was attacked at the hospital."
"okay, what about Estelle then? she was literally right there after Tara was attacked” he said motioning toward the girl. the raven haired girl snickered.
“i’ve known Sam since we were fifteen, ask her who she trusts more” she said glancing at Sam. the taller girl lowered her eyes not looking at either of them and that was more than an answer for both of them. Estelle shot the boy a cocky smirk making him scoff and roll his eyes.
"rule number two: the killer's motives are alwavs connected to something in the past." Dewey told them.
"I'm related to Billy." Sam pointed out.
"right, but then why kill that random Vince guy?" Richie asked.
“that’s for you to figure out. and rule number three, and this is the most important rule: the first victim always has a friend group that the killer is a part of. does your sister have a close-knit group of friends?"
“yeah,” Sam confirmed and turned back to look at Richie. “she does.”
“then look for the killer there. if you can find out why they’re doing this, you can figure out who’s next.” he said softly, he sounded exhausted even having to think about this happening.
“so help us.” Sam stated, “help us figure out who is behind this.” she said, even though it didn’t sound like it, she was desperate. Estelle could tell by the look in her eyes.
“are you kidding me? i’ve been stabbed nine times. i’ve got permanent nerve damage and a fun little limp. you think i want to do that again?” he chuckled.
“you just said it always goes back to the past, right?” Sam countered back, trying her best to convince him. Dewey sighed, “so if i’m in danger that means you’re in danger. come on. let’s do this together.” Sam plead, her eyes shinning with emotion.
Estelle understood where she was coming from, god, did she understand but she also knew there was no way of convincing someone unless they wanted to willingly. Dewey wouldn’t be helping them, she knew that.
“come on, Sam. it’s time to go” she said motioning to the door. Estelle glanced at Sam before looking at Dewey still, maybe if she showed how much this meant to her he’d be convinced. that wasn’t the case.
“your times up” he said and just like that they were ushered out of the trailer with the door being slammed behind them. Estelle didn’t flinch or take it personally, she could never understand everything he went through and she couldn’t blame him for not wanting to get involved.
when the door was slammed Richie flinched, “yeah, he’s way more fun in the movies” he said causing Estelle to roll her eyes in annoyance.
“do you ever just shut the fuck up?” Estelle snapped, not able to bite back her thoughts anymore. he was getting on her last fucking nerve and she just wanted him away from them.
Richie chuckled looking at the girl but he didn’t say anything and that just angered her even more. she took a step closer to him, they were off the porch now and Sam was walking to the car with determination, but the two weren’t paying attention to her. “what? you got something you want to say?” she asked, getting in his personal space. this was unlike her, at least unlike the person she was now. she went to therapy, learned how to control her anger and emotions and she was even a fucking cop, she shouldn’t be blowing up on some dumb fuck. but she just couldn’t help it.
“he’s right, you know. i mean i know you’re not the love interest but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was you, maybe you just wanted revenge for Sam leaving you behind” he said, that was enough for her to be set off. she didn’t say anything, just held her hand in a tight fist and swung as hard as she could, her fist landing on his cheek and grazing his lip. she wanted to hurt him, just not enough for it to leave any lasting damage, they had other shit to work on.
“hey!” Sam yelled rushing up to them as Richie shoved the girl further away, she was about to swing again but her ex quickly stood between them, holding her arms out to stop them both from doing anything. “that’s enough! we have shit to worry about and i don’t need you two fighting like fucking children!” she said directing her words to Estelle more than to her boyfriend.
the raven haired girl shook her head with a scoff, “fuck this” she muttered and walked away without a single glance back. Richie and Sam watched her walk to the car before Richie turned his face to spit out blood the had began to pool in his mouth.
Estelle didn’t look up once, she just turned on her car and waited for them both to get in. she was pissed, just not enough to leave them both stranded without a ride other than Dewey who had practically kicked them out of his home. besides, she had been the one to offer taking her car in the first place.
when Estelle finally did look up she saw Sam facing Richie with her hand on his cheek, they looked like they were talking and Estelle didn’t have to be close to know that Sam was comforting him. probably whispering how she was sorry, apologizing for Estelle when she didn’t ask her to. probably telling him that she loved him and that they’d get through it together.
fuck. Estelle hit her steering wheel at the thought. thankfully the couple were too engrossed in one another to see or hear the commotion. her chest was tightening and her breathing was starting to waver and she knew it was an anxiety attack. she was used to them, usually had one every week or sometimes every other week, it was an accomplishment compared to when she’d have multiple anxiety attacks a day.
she remembered the way Sam would always soothe her through them, would pull her into a hug when Estelle allowed her and when that would suffocate the girl she would simply hold her hand to show her that she was there, that she wasn’t alone.
now Estelle held her own hands and took deep breaths. she’d never have that. not again.
she felt like a fool, she always hoped deep down that Sam still thought about her, that she wasn’t alone and that Sam missed her, maybe even still love her. she knew now that it was a stupid thing to hope for. Sam didn’t give a single fuck about her and it was time she accepted that.
-
eight years ago
the sky was clear, stars shinning brightly accompanying every person who was outside. it was a full moon and it worked as a light, almost. it was huge and it was something you’d see maybe once a year. there was a small breeze but that wasn’t enough for the two teens to care.
giggles echoed throughout the quiet night, the only thing that could be heard was their laugh and occasionally a car driving past.
the bruises had faded, leaving just a small scar on the girls eyebrow and lip, her ribs were still pretty fucked but it wasn’t visible so it didn’t matter. it had been a month, Elias was out of jail and Estelle had gone back to school a week after she finally opened up to Sam. the two were friends, Valerie hadn’t talked to Estelle since the day Sam intervened and Sam was glad. Estelle didn’t care much for it.
they were in a parking lot, Estelle was leaning against her car and Sam was standing in front of her. the street light illuminating the parking lot was shinning brightly above them.
there was an ice cream cone in Estelle’s hand with a scoop of strawberry ice cream, although it was half eaten by now. Sam had chocolate which was pretty much gone by now since Estelle would sneak a bite (yes a bite) out of it every time she would be too distracted watching a car drive past them. “you ate all my ice cream” Sam said holding up the cone that barely showed any of the cold treat.
Estelle giggled happily, “want some of mine?” she asked but Sam shook her head.
“strawberry and chocolate ice cream don’t go together” she grimaced at the thought. Estelle gasped dramatically.
“do you not like chocolate covered strawberries?”
Sam looked at her with a serious expression, “not the same”
“it kind of is though, there’s chocolate,” she said pointing at Sams cone, “and here’s strawberry, completely the same” she said confidently and licked her ice cream.
Sam rolled her eyes at the girl, “i’m starting to regret this.” she said making Estelle roll her eyes.
“whatever, you begged me to come with you.” she shrugged and bit the waffle cone.
“i just asked and you said yes!” Sam exclaimed earning an uninterested shrug from Estelle as she continued eating her ice cream.
when she realized Estelle wasn’t going to say something in return she she took a step closer, “fine, i’ll try it” she said looking down at the strawberry ice cream.
Estelle’s lips formed into a bright smile, “really?” she asked excitedly, her uninterested facade suddenly disappearing now that she was getting her way.
Sam rolled her eyes in slight amusement, “yes, really. now hurry before i change my mind”
Estelle was about to move it closer to Sam but she stopped herself, suddenly an amazing idea popping into her head. “actually,” she said with a smirk. “i have a better idea”
the raven haired girl raised a brow in confusion, slightly skeptical but Estelle simply smiled. “what is it?” Sam asked slightly worried.
“close your eyes” Estelle responded.
Sam laughed, “no.”
“what? why?” Estelle asked quickly, shocked that Sam would say no.
“you’re gonna either smudge it on my face or steal my ice cream” she said making Estelle roll her eyes.
“im not, i promise” she said but Sam still seemed to not believe her. Estelle cocked her head to the side a bit.
“please,” she plead with a pouty look that Sam knew she was done for. the girl groaned.
“fine. whatever” she said immediately earning a happy smile from the girl in front of her. slowly Sams eyes fluttered closed and Estelle slowly reached for Sams cone, the raven girl let go of it easily and Estelle quietly put the two cones on her car that she was leaning on. they were both inedible by now but that didn’t matter.
Sam almost snuck an eye open to peak but that thought vanished faster than she could process as she felt Estelle softly grab her face and her warm lips on her own.
in the month that they had been friends none of them spoke of the obvious tension, they didn’t speak about the party or the fact that there was something between them. Estelle was trying to get over what happened with her father and now ex girlfriend and Sam was trying to give her the space that she obviously needed.
she had been so sweet and caring though and Estelle couldn’t wait any longer. Sam would pick up coffee for her when she knew she had stayed up studying, she’d roll her blunts for her because she knew how much Estelle sucked at it, when they’d go to the gas station she wouldn’t even ask if Estelle wanted anything she’d just go in and grab her favorite candy and a redbull because she knew the unhealthy obsession Estelle had over it. they were small gestures that no one had ever done for her, not even the girl she thought had been her first love.
the kiss came as a surprise for Sam, her brows shot up, not expecting this. she truly expected Estelle to get the pink dessert on her nose but instead she got the thing she had been craving since the first time they met.
their lips moved slowly against each other, a drastic change from their first kiss. there weren’t rough hands, bruising lips or their tongues shoved in each others mouths. it was soft and loving and the one thing Estelle had never experienced before.
Sam placed her hands on the shorter girls waist where she softly caressed, unlike the last time where she had gripped Estelle’s hips so hard the girl woke up with a faint bruise.
butterflies were swarming in each of their stomachs and they were both so focused on their erratically beating hearts to even pay attention to the others. it was so warm and absolutely filled with love that it almost as if like they were dreaming.
they weren’t though. and that was the best part.
when Estelle pulled away she kept her face close and soon felt Sams forehead pressed on her own. none of them had opened their eyes yet, simply soaking in the most amazing moment they had each every experienced.
it was so fucking magical neither of them seemed to remember all the dark and fucked up shit they had going on in their lives.
it was just them underneath the moonlight, in an empty parking lot with the taste of strawberry mixed with chocolate ice cream lingering on both of their tongues.
-
present
the aftermath of punching her ex’s boyfriend was pretty much as expected. the couple got in the car, Sam in the front and Richie in the back. neither of them said anything but Sam was looking at Estelle with a distant look in her eyes. Estelle wasn’t paying attention, though. she had her eyes trained on her fist that was red from the impact of punching the guy. if she would’ve turned to look at Sam, she would’ve recognized that look, would’ve known exactly what she was thinking.
it was quiet the whole drive to the Meeks residence, Sam had told her that’s where they needed to go and Estelle did so without question. she figured they’d need to talk to the friends after the conversation they had with Dewey. when they pulled up to the house Richie got out first, Estelle sat still, waiting for them to walk in first before catching up. that wasn’t what happened, though.
it seemed as if Richie knew his girlfriend was still in the car as he stood on the porch and got on his phone, it made Estelle’s stomach turn, thinking that she was alone with Sam for the first time in years.
the silence was deafening, Estelle had her eyes trained on the steering wheel and Sam was looking at her expectantly, waiting for her to finally turn and look at her. when she realized that wouldn’t happen she let out a sigh.
“you didn’t have to punch him,” she said. as much as Estelle wanted to react, she didn’t. she didn’t move a muscle. “he was just pissed at Dewey for blaming him.” she reasoned. now that was enough for Estelle to snap out of her trance.
the girl finally turned to look at Sam, “you’ve known him for six months, Sam. Dewey is right and you know that.” she said making Sam shake her head.
“he wouldn’t.”
“do you know that for a fact?”
“why would he? what’s his motive?” Sam quickly shot back, tired of everyone doubting him and her in the process. she knew him, maybe not for long but she trusted him and others questioning her judgement was infuriating.
“i don’t know,” Estelle shrugged. “he could just be a psycho that wants you dead, how do i know? the thing i do know is that you deserve better.” the raven haired girl said and took the keys out of the ignition. she didn’t give Sam a chance to respond to her words as she opened her door and got out.
Sam wasn’t far behind, five seconds later Estelle heard the passenger door open and close and they both started walking toward the house, Estelle in front with the other girl two steps behind her. at the sight of them approaching Richie put his phone in his pocket. when the two girls were almost up the steps a loud engine stopped behind them and a door slammed closed causing all three of them to turn and look at the source of the noise.
“holy shit. he came” Sam muttered at the sight of Dewey approaching them. Estelle’s lips quirked into a small smile at the sight. she knew he’d come through.
“i’ve decided to temporarily assist you in your investigation.” he said.
“thanks Dewey” Estelle said taking a step toward him, the man couldn’t help but have a matching smile as he felt the girl put an arm around his shoulder.
she was always good to him, thoughtful and respectful. when they worked together she made sure to always stop for coffee because she knew he wouldn’t sleep through the whole night, ptsd and all. she’d even get him a glazed doughnut because he hated any other kind, she made sure to always take the wheel because his leg would act up when he’d drive for long hours at a time.
she was a good person and Dewey could see that from a mile away.
Estelle and Dewey walked past the couple together and walked up the steps. the fully expected Sam and Richie to be following but when they realized they weren’t they both turned in sync, Dewey motioned for them to hurry.
they were welcomed into the home of Mindy Meeks-Martin, a bright smile on her face as she invited them inside. the girl shared a glance at Estelle worriedly. she couldn’t imagine what she felt, seeing the girl she loved for so long now in the arms of another guy who for the record, everyone collectively agreed was below Sams standards. she dated Estelle after all. the raven haired girl shook her head softly with a graze of a smile, silently reassuring Mindy that she was okay.
Estelle had been in the house before, the memories of her and Sam babysitting the twins came to her in a flash. Friday nights in which their parents would go out so they would spend it watching over the twins and Tara. the times they would build forts and watch movies in them, or when they would all sleep on the couch whilst Sam and Estelle would spend the rest of the time talking or simply just basking in each others presence.
Richie's voice filled her ears and her smile slightly dropped in annoyance, "how do you know so much about the Stab movies?"
the living room was pleasantly furnished, a giant portrait of Randy Meeks hung up in the middle of the living room wall, honoring the days he existed and for the purpose of never forgetting him.
Dewey was reminded of the man once hearing Richie's question, Randy was a big reason most of them survived back in those days. he always knew what to do, or at least, kept them informed on how to try and keep themselves safe.
"runs in the family." Dewey answered softly.
Mindy glanced at the large portrait of a young Randy Meeks, "Randy was our uncle."
Mindy's eyes softened as she looked at the picture frame. She brought up the tips of her finger to her mouth and blew out a kiss, "RIP.”
Mindy turned to her friends, "you said to bring everybody."
Chad, Liv, and Wes were seated on the bigger sofa, while Amber was sat down on the armchair sofa with her leg propped up on the edge of the sofa. they all agreed to come, but they were still confused as to why they were asked to come. nothing was revealed over the phone except for how important their meeting was, so they didn't have a choice but to agree to be there.
Estelle shot Amber a friendly smile to which the raven haired girl returned. she began to scoot over on the chair and patted it to welcome her to sit. Estelle contemplated, her eyes glanced at the open couch but it looked like it could only hold three people and she’d rather have Dewey sit there then have to sit there herself. she wanted to be as far away from Richie as possible.
without much of a choice she walked up to the seat and sat down, Amber immediately put her head on the girls shoulder which she welcomed. she felt like their older sibling, at least when it came to the twins and Amber. she’d been close to them, offering rides and making sure they were home safe from parties. it was her job as a cop but also as Tara’s friend. in the end Tara’s friends became her own, although at times it felt weird considering the age difference but she’d never see them as anything other than kids. to this day she treated them as she did when she would babysit them all those years ago. even if it annoyed them.
Sam watched Estelle and Amber with furrowed brows, confused on why the two were so close. “hey” she said instead of what was going through her head.
"ooh, suspects." Martha Meeks-Martin whispered with enthusiasm as she brought a tray of food to the little table in front of the couches, before she could set the tray down, Mindy reached forward and grabbed a piece of popcorn from the bowl, putting it in her mouth right away. "my brother would be so proud."
after placing it down, Martha walked back and was met with Dewey's warm smiles, "hey, Martha."
Martha smiled at the familiar face and instantly brought the man into a hug. "Dewey!" she was surprised to see him after so many years, "hi!” once their short hug ended, the emotions flooded back to her and she couldn't help but think about how good the years were to him, "you look..." she managed to stop herself from probably embarrassing herself in front of her kids and instead asked, "how's the wife?”
"mom, we're good. thank you." Chad interrupted immediately before it got more awkward.
Martha took that as her cue to leave, and nodded her head. "all right, kids, have fun."
"i asked Mindy to call everyone here, because...there's something I have to tell you." Sam announced to the group as she stood in the center of the living room.
she played them a clip of The True Story of the first stab movie on the tv and after watching, she briefly explained that the man displayed on the screen was indeed her biological father. it took a while for the teens to believe her, because well, it was difficult to comprehend that the women sitting right in front of them came from the man the first stab movie was based on.
once the documentary was finished, Chad was the first to break the silence, "let me get this straight. you're saying that you're the daughter of Billy Loomis, and, what, that one of us is the killer?"
he was offended that she could think that, especially when she didn't know any of them, not anymore.
"the killer told me he knew my secret." Sam revealed. "he attacked Tara to lure me back here."
"but then why immediately go and murder some douche-nozzle that was stalking Liv?" Chad asked, motioning his hand towards his girlfriend and trying to get Sam to understand that her theory was a little stupid.
"and why does it have to be one of us? what about Deputy Dewey here? maybe he's the killer." Wes looked over at Dewey Riley, not even sure why the dude was a part of this. if his friends were attacked, and Sam thought they had something to do with it, then why was a deputy who was known to be involved in other incidents involving Ghostface sitting in the same room as them.
"no offense." he added after throwing a serious accusation at the only person who was willingly to help them out.
Estelle raised a brow at him, suddenly her emotions bubbling up inside of her again. her hand turned into a fist as she looked at the ‘blonde’ boy with a glare. again, Estelle didn’t like him, even less now that he was being an asshole to someone who was just trying to help.
“none taken, but what's my motive?"
"you got stabbed a billion times, dumped by your famous wife and crawled into a bottle. i think it's safe to say you're on the suspect list." Wes went on and on, ignoring the glare Estelle was sending him from a few feet away.
he had no right to be disrespectful and if he was a seventeen year old kid she would’ve said something. what Dewey went though could never be considered easy, not in a million years but that didn’t mean he would kill innocent people for ‘revenge’. Estelle knew Dewey would never do that.
"well, maybe you're the killer. because that cut deep." Dewey exhaled a long deep breath and leaned back in his chair.
Estelle hadn’t realized but Amber had done a bit of research during Wes’s little rant.
"that douche-nozzle is connected. i googled him. his mom is Leslie Macher." Amber announced, but nobody seemed to understand the connection, so she added, "Stu Macher's sister."
"who's Stu Macher?" Liv asked.
"he's Billy Loomis's accomplice. a real loony tune." Dewey answered.
"okay. okay. so the first three attacks are all on people related to the original killers." Sam noticed, finally putting the pieces together.
"oh, my god." Mindy shouted, nearly jumping out of her seat when she realized what it all was, "he's making a requel!"
"a what?" Sam asked, confused.
"or a legacyquel. fans are torn on the terminology." Mindy informed them, but none of them understood where she was heading with this, or what she was even saying.
"god. please speak English." Chad begged, almost rolling his eyes.
"okay, remember the stab movie that came out last year?" Mindy asked, getting closer to the edge of her seat as her interest in the topic sparked.
"oh, yeah. the one the Knives Out guy directed, right? i actually really liked that one." Liv genuinely spoke.
"of course you did. you have terrible taste." Mindy retorted, not even surprised that her brother's girlfriend actually enjoyed watching the movie, considering how bad it was. Estelle bit back a laugh at her insult.
"i hate you." Liv glared at her.
"the point is, the hard-core Stab fans hated it. you go on 4chan and Dreadit, all they're talking about is how Stab 8 pissed on their childhoods. how they crammed in social commentary just to elevate it. how the main character's a Mary Sue." Mindy rambled on very fast. Estelle’s eyebrows shot up, she understood everything and yet nothing.
"what's a Mary Sue?" Richie asked, squinting his eyes.
"you really don't want to know." Wes shook his head and put the man's question aside.
"what's wrong with elevated horror?" Amber asked, "i mean, Jordan Peele fucking rules. "
"uh, obviously, but that's not Stab. real Stab movies are meta slasher whodunits, full stop." Mindy told them.
"come on. it's just a movie." Sam rolled her eyes. she was already kind of over this whole rant, not understanding how a movie could mean so much to someone.
"no, it's not. to some people the original is their favorite thing in the world. the movie that made them love horror. that Mom and Dad showed them when they were ten that bonded them together." Mindy spoke enthusiastically. "and god help anyone who slightly fucks with that special memory. who makes a movie they think disrespects it." Mindy pushed herself out of her seat, overly excited to share her thoughts, “it sounds like our killer is writing his own version of Stab 8, but doing it as a requel."
"which is?" Dewey asked, knowing the girl would have an answer for him.
"see, you can't just reboot a franchise from scratch anymore. the fans won't stand for it. Black Christmas, Child's Play, Flatliners... that shit doesn't work. but you can't just do a straight sequel, either. you got to build something new. but not too new, or the Internet goes bug-fucking nuts." Mindy paced around the room, doing various hand gestures as she talked. it's got to be a part of an ongoing storyline even if the story shouldn't have been ongoing in the first place. new main characters, yes, but supported by and related to legacy characters. not quite a reboot, not quite a sequel. like the new Halloween, Saw, Terminator, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters... fuck even Starwars! it always goes back to the original!" she finished off as she held up a copy of the first Stab movie, smiling at the teenagers and adults seated on the couch.
"are you telling me that I'm caught in the middle of fan-fucking-fiction?"
Mindy gave Sam a sympathetic look, "not just in the middle, Sam." she sat down at the edge of the coffee table and told her, "you're the star."
"so, not to put too fine a point on it, but, according to requel rules... who's next?" Liv asked, motioning to everyone in the room.
"going by the pattern, whoever it is has to be connected to someone that came before." Mindy responded.
silence broke out in the room, an uncomfortable silence at the thought of one of them being the next target. everyone’s eyes shifted to Dewey simultaneously. the man shifted uncomfortably. “im starting to regret coming here”
"jesus, my mom was a character in one of them." Wes blurted out, worried for himself and his mother.
"no one cares about the shitty inferior sequels, Wes. you're safe," Mindy reassured him and quickly turned to her twin brother. "with Randy as our uncle, though, you and I are probably screwed."
"wait. what?"
"or you're the killer, and this whole elaborate monologue is just to cover your tracks." Richie mentioned, earning a scoff from the girl.
"I think it's pretty clear who the killers could be at this point." Mindy announced, catching Sam's attention and watching as her head snapped towards her, softly asking, "who?"
"you." Mindy whispered, looking directly at Sam. “or you” she said turning to look at Estelle.
the shorter raven haired girl suddenly sat straight pushing her body so she was sitting at the edge of her seat, she had been accused by Richie and now this? absolutely not.
“what?” Sam muttered.
"im sorry. what did you just say?" Estelle said completely ignoring Sam. she would not be letting herself be blamed, that was bullshit. all she had ever done was protect Tara, every single teen in that room had been a witness to that.
"it makes perfect requel sense for you Sam." Mindy figured, and it got everyone thinking to the point where most of them agreed on it. “and as for you..” she trailed off turning her body to look at Estelle again. “i mean it would make sense. you were the first person at the crime scene, ghostface didn’t attack you-”
“because i had a fucking gun!” Estelle cut her off, her face heating up in anger. Amber placed a hand on her back to try and comfort her but the girl shook it off.
“Sam said you were the only person she told about Billy being her dad too” Richie pointed out. he was trying to play it off but Estelle could read right through his smug grin. fuck him. if there weren’t so many people in the room she would’ve lunged at him again.
breathe, breathe. in and out. she tried to tell herself that but it wasn’t working. fuck that. she was angry, she was allowed to feel angry. she was being accused of being a psycho piece of shit for fucks sake.
“think about it,” Mindy said. “you were pissed that Sam left, maybe wanted to bring her back by going after her sister which you didn’t kill her because you care about her after all - and seeing that Sam now has a boyfriend has made you change your mind” she explained.
"that actually does make a lot of sense." Chad pointed out. Estelle ignored him, her eyes still trained on Mindy. how the hell did that make sense? she wasnt even a fan of the fucking movies. she had seen them maybe twice, once when she was younger and the other time with Sam when she found out who her dad was. why the fuck would she care about making another movie?
"yeah" Liv agreed.
Estelle looked at Richie who was trying to stop himself from smiling and at Dewey who wouldn’t even meet her eyes. Sam was looking at her and she knew the meaning behind that look all too well.
“fuck this.” Estelle spat standing up and marching out of the house. she wasn’t going to sit there and be accused of some bullshit she had nothing to do with. she loved Tara like a sister, the girl was her only family left. why the fuck would she try to kill her? to bring Sam back? were they fucking serious? she wanted her back but not like this. never like this.
her head was filled with so many thoughts she didn’t hear footsteps following after her. all she could see was red, all she could head was Mindys words ringing in the back of her head and that stupid fucking smirk on Richies lips. god she just wanted to beat the shit out of him.
the car door slammed shut beside her and she shoved the keys in the ignition roughly. when she finally got out of her head and paid attention to what’s in front of her she saw Sam rushing out of the house and running to her car. her eyebrows furrowed at the sight. she fully expected Sam to never talk to her again, maybe even tell her to stay the fuck away from her and Tara. maybe that’s what she was doing now.
the passenger door opened and closed, Sams breathing echoed throughout the car and she began to put her seatbelt on. when she realized the car wasn’t moving she look at Estelle who was looking back in question.
“let’s go” she said simply. none of them had anywhere in particular that they needed to be but that didn’t matter. without another word she put the car in drive and the tires screeched out of the driveway.

pairing: amber freeman x female reader
warnings: death, betrayal, murder, blood,
a/n: IM SORRY TARA. IM SORRY READERS. guys i’m back writing again so feel free to send requests :)
“Hi baby.”
I smile at Tara’s pet name as I walk over to our group during our lunch break ignoring Ambers lingering glare towards Tara.
“Hi.” I reply sitting beside Tara and leaning over to kiss her cheek gently. Sitting back against the bench I glare at Amber for a second before turning back to Tara who now rests her head against my shoulder.
“Do you wanna come over later? Sam’s not gonna be home for hours.” She raises her eyebrows suggestively and I let out a laugh. “Sorry, I have an assignment I need to start, next time though I promise.” I kiss her forehead gently before turning my attention back to the group most of which didn’t even notice our affection exchange.
……
School finishes rather early today, letting me head home at a decent time.
Opening my front door I head to my kitchen, humming a tune as I open the fridge and sigh at the lack of contents inside. I debate what to do next when a thud in the other room causes me to pause, my hands moving slowly towards the knives beside the microwave.
“Hello?” I call into the empty apartment, the largest knife gripped so tight in my hand my knuckles bleed white. “If this is some kind of prank Mindy I’m going to have your head.” I yell out again slowly inching towards the living room.
Silence encompasses the house. Not even a whistle of the wind can be heard as I creep along the carpeted floor.
But the silence disappears as quickly as it appeared as another thud causes my head to snap around, a figure dressed in black with a white mask rushing at me.
Ghostface.
I scream as it wraps it’s arms around my torso, the glint of the knife pressing to my throat gently enough as to not draw blood but hard enough that I know if I move it’ll hurt.
Panting can be heard from behind the mask before an arm is removed from my waist to pull of the hood revealing the face behind it.
“Hi baby.” Ambers cheeks are slightly red as she giggles at my glare.
“Your an asshole you know that? We aren’t meant to be in our ghostface costumes unless we are actually pulling a murder.” I snap shoving Ambers shoulder as she pulls the knife from my throat.
The black haired girl pouts. “I wanted to see you. And I wanted to go over the plan again.” Her arms wrap around my waist, the black robe pressed against my body.
“Your lucky I love you.” I narrow my eyes playfully before leaning in to kiss her lips. “Yeah, I know.” Amber replies cheekily before leaning in to kiss me again.
“Can we kill Tara next? Please?” Amber pulls back and presses her forehead to my own. I raise an eyebrow at her question, my own forming on the tip of my tongue. “Are you jealous baby?” I smile slightly and lean over to peck her jaw as she frowns. “Just- I don’t understand why you have to pretend to date her.” Amber shrugs looking towards the floor.
I chuckle gently and tilt her chin back up so she can face me. “I love you Amber. Not Tara. I’m only dating her to have an alibi for the murders. She’s nothing to me. I promise.” I reassure the girl before me who nods slowly. “Ok.” She replies and nuzzles her face into the crook of my neck before pulling back suddenly.
“Don’t you have an assignment to do?” Amber asks with a puzzled frown. I shake my head and move my mouth beside her ear. “Lies. I just didn’t wanna fuck Tara. She doesn’t do it as good as you.” I whisper breathily, smiling at the goosebumps arising on her neck and the tightened grip on my waist.
“Wanna prove that theory?” Ambers eyes go dark as she gently pushes me towards my room. I nod enthusiastically smashing my lips against hers in search of satisfying the fire burning at my core.
……
“Welcome to act three.” Amber pulls the gun from her pants and shoots Liv straight through the forehead. Blood splatters all over my shirt as I fake a scream, pretending to be terrified. “Run.” Sam shouts, grabbing Richies hand and heading out the room, bullets narrowly missing her figure much to my disappointment.
“Baby, follow me quickly.” Tara cries hobbling in the doorway on her crutches. Amber stands on the other end of the room causing me to glance between the two.
“Baby?” Tara’s voice holds caution as she remains frozen in place. “Sorry T, but she’s not your baby anymore.” Amber smirks maliciously, her hand extended to me.
I laugh at Tara’s shock before moving to grab Ambers hand and pulling her in for a passionate kiss. My body remains glued to Ambers as I release her lips only to see Tara had disappeared. “Coward.” I scoff kissing Amber quickly before taking the gun from her hand.
“Hey baby I wanted the gun.” Amber pouts. My eyes roll playfully before I lean in close to her ear. “If I get the gun then once this is all over I’ll make it up to you.” I pur.
Amber nods enthusiastically before pressing a kiss to my lips. “I’ll find Sammy, you look for Tara.”
Nodding, we head out seperate ways. “Tara. Baby. I promise I’ll make this quick.” I shout maniacally, slamming open doors and dragging the gun against the walls to increase the tension and hopefully her terror.
Only when a crutch smacks me in the face do I realise I had fallen into a trap. Tara swipes her second crutch under my legs causing me to tumble to the floor, my gun clattering out of my hands and under the table inches away from my fingertips. Her moonboot digging into my side time and time again.
“No, I’m sorry baby. Your hurting me Tar. Please.” I beg curling in on myself as she continues battering me with her crutches. “You. Mother. Fucker.” She pants, the hits slowing as she grows tired. Her hesitancy as I plead gives me enough time to kick my foot hard against her broken ankle, a snap causing her to scream out in pain before collapsing against the wall.
I leap up, pushing my hand against her throat ignoring her cry. “You couldn’t even tell your own girlfriend didn’t love you.” I pout condescendingly.
Tara paws at my hands, tears spilling down her cheeks as her breathing slows. Just as her hands go limp my own breath gets caught in my throat. Pain rushes through my stomach and I instinctively drop my hand from her throat and move it to my abdomen.
Looking down, blood pours from a bullet wound, the red pooling on the floor just inches from where Tara has collapsed onto her knees. “Touch my sister again you bitch. I dare you.” Sam spits from behind me, gun outstretched in her hand.
My breathing comes out in short sharp gasps, no words leaving my throat as I attempt to speak. With a strangled gasp, I collapse to my knees tears flowing down my cheeks.
“Amber.” I manage to whine earning a scoff from the tall dark haired woman before me. “She’s gone.” Sam snaps placing the gun down to reach for Tara who holds her throat, eyes wide and vulnerable as she gazes at me.
“Please.” I pray on her vulnerability, reaching a hand to her to which Sam slaps away.
“You motherfuckers.” A high pitched screech echoes throughout the hallway before a pattering of footsteps causes Sam to re grab the gun.
Ambers jaw is clenched tightly, her hand wrapped around the knife as she lunges at Sam swinging wildly. “I’m gonna rip out your heart you coward.” She screams before another gun shot is heard, Amber freezing in place.
“No.” I gasp finding enough strength to reach for the black haired girl who stumbles slightly gazing up at Sam in torment before collapsing against the wall, slowly falling to the ground.
Reaching her side, my body slumps against the wall, rejecting my attempts at moving closer. Removing my bloodied hands from my stomach I press them against her chest where her blood pours from.
“No. No.” She whimpers, blinking slowly, her gaze moving from the sisters to my eyes, her brown softening slightly. “Not you.” She manages to wheeze. Tears crawl down her cheeks, a weak hand raising to cup my face.
Both Carpenters remain on the other side of the room, now standing up, Tara’s arm wrapped tightly around Sams waist in order to remain stable. “Come on let’s get out of here. Let them be.” Sam looks almost sorrowful as she leads the shorter girl out the house. Tara looks back only once as they walk away, her own tears falling over her quivering lips. “Goodbye.” She whispers to herself.
“Keep your eyes open for me baby.” Amber breathes, her chest rising and falling with difficulty. I smile dopily at her but that smile falters as her hand drops from my face, her own face scrunching up in a grimace, the pain spreading from her chest as more blood pours out of her wound.
“Ambs.” I manage to breathe, the searing pain in my stomach increasing as sobs begin racking my body. Amber groans half heartedly, her head lolling to the side. “No no no no.” I whimper. My hand presses as hard as I can possibly can against her chest pleading the blood to stop pouring as I watch her chest slowly stop rising.
Heartache tears through my chest, the torturous feeling worse than the bullet wound as I watch the woman I love mosts eyes become devoid of her usual soft brown.
“I love you baby.” I wheeze letting my own head fall against her chest, ignoring her bloody wound. It can’t hurt her anymore.
I can’t find the energy to remain with my eyes open, not wanting to witness Ambers corpse any longer. Instead I succumb to the dark blanket of death, feeling my chest slow and the pain fade.
And just as I find myself drifting into the endless void, Ambers voice echoes through my head.
“See you on the other side.”

souls tied, bound to burn | ch 1
Samantha Carpenter x Reader
Summary: Your move to New York came suddenly, in the hopes of getting closer to what was left of your family. What you weren't expecting was to fall for your sister's roommate, Sam; and little did you know, she'd be your doom, in the prettiest of ways.
A/N: I feel like this story is told in moments, but I do like how it turned out; it is, after all, a story that I poured my heart and soul into. This is one which took many of my sleepless nights, but it was so worth it bringing this idea to life. Cannot thank @iamnicodemus enough for basically being my beta reader and helping me with everything. There will be two more parts to this storyline, but I can't say when they will be posted, as I'm still writing them.

One thing that Sam was still trying to get used to after moving to New York was the lack of calmness.
She had just finished her session with yet another therapist, it was past 10 PM, and the streets were still as busy as ever. There was no shortage of cars or people passing by her as she walked back to her apartment. Sometimes it could be overwhelming and she couldn't get home fast enough. Sometimes it helped to keep her mind a little quieter.
Sam was still unsure of what it felt like today, maybe a mix of both.
Things haven't been easy after everything that happened in Woodsboro, every day the weight on her shoulders worsens and she has no idea how to even start dealing with it. It only became worse after the rumors started.
The steps up the stairs to her apartment felt like a whole workout, after working the entire day Sam was absolutely drained. The hunch on her posture and faint dark bags under her eyes said as much.
Nearing the door, she could hear faint voices coming from inside, one of them she didn't recognize. The tensing of her muscles was inevitable.
Sam turned the doorknob and slowly made her way inside, she closed the door behind her without turning around. There wasn't anything different about the place — TV turned on, cheap yellow lights in the kitchen illuminating the dirty dishes on the sink, low music coming from Tara's room — except Quinn was talking with someone on the couch.
Though Sam didn't know who it was, she already relaxed at the fact that there was no trouble in sight.
She ran a hand through her hair whilst walking to the kitchen, there were leftovers of dinner on two pans over the stove; but despite only having lunch on her stomach, she wasn't hungry. Picking up a clean cup, she filled it with water on the sink and gulped it down.
"Hey, Sam's home," Quinn announced with a chipper voice.
Sam closed her eyes with a sigh before managing a smile, she really didn't feel like socializing right now. But she turned to Quinn anyway.
The girl was perched over the back of the couch, waving Sam over, "come here, I want you to meet someone."
Involuntarily, Sam's eyes drifted to the one who sat beside Quinn; it was a girl she had never seen before, but the gentle smile on her lips made Sam hesitate in her steps. She did walk up to them though, making herself comfortable on the loveseat beside Quinn.
"Sam, this is Y/n, she's my sister," Quinn motioned to you with a grin.
"Sister?" Sam's eyes were huge as she looked between you and Quinn.
"Well, half-sister," Quinn concluded, "it's a long story."
You then gave them a tight-lipped smile, raising your hand in an awkward wave whilst looking at Sam, "it's uh- a pleasure to meet you."
There were several question marks twirling around in Sam's head, but the biggest one seemed to be why she found herself quite trapped in the way the images on the TV highlighted the lines of your jaw, cheeks, and lips. "I'm Samantha- Sam," she stumbled out quickly.
Quinn raised her eyebrows in amusement, a beat of silence passed before she tilted her head towards Sam, "yep, that's Samantha Sam."
The older Carpenter kicked herself internally about ten thousand times. That was awful.
A weird weight filled the air after that. Sam didn't know what to do with herself, she didn't know if she should stay or just go and lock herself in her room. She ended up settling for pretending to watch the TV while you spoke with Quinn. From what Sam heard, you had just arrived in town and were staying in a hotel until you could find an apartment, because apparently, your mother had left a significant amount of money in your name; she also overheard that you were yet to go visit your father.
When it was nearing midnight, you decided to leave, saying something about it already being too late.
Sam watched as Quinn walked you to the door and bid you goodbye with a brief hug. And before the door clicked close, your gaze caught Sam's and you gave her that same gentle smile she'd seen earlier; all the same, it froze her, and Sam saw herself just staring back at you with an emotion even she couldn't place.
Quinn dragged herself back to the living room then, laying down on the empty couch to wait for the inevitable interrogation.
"I didn't know you had a sister," Sam started eventually, mindlessly switching through channels. The room was dimly lit, with the only other lights coming from the kitchen, the brightness of the TV hurt her tired eyes.
"Neither did I."
At that, Sam's attention was fully on Quinn, her brows furrowed.
Quinn shook her head, dismissing the worry, "I mean, I knew, sort of," she explained, "she's from a fling my dad had before he met my mom, I think they broke up when she was born and her mom took her to Boston. Never met her until like, yesterday."
Now, the pieces from what Sam had heard were starting to come together. She wondered just how detached you were from this side of your family until now. "And your father never told you had a sister?"
"He did, in passing, sometimes I heard the calls he'd give her to check in. But she's always been distant," Quinn shrugged.
Sam mulled over the words in her mind, part of her couldn't help but feel wary, "why is she here?"
"Her mother died, she has no other family left."

It didn't take long for Sam to bump into you again. It happened actually only two days after your visit to Quinn at their apartment.
It was a mildly calm afternoon at the coffee shop Sam worked at. At least for a Thursday, it felt calm. Just a few booths had people sitting on them, and every few minutes someone would stop by to grab a cup of coffee to go.
What the place lacked in fanciness it made up for in coziness — between her shifts here during the week and at the bowling alley on the weekends, it was easy for Sam to pick a favorite, nothing beats the vibe of a coffee shop — the place held warm tones to its decor, brick walls here and there with a few black boards hung up that had order choices written on them with white chalk; there was also a vintage radio on the corner that Sam always sneakily changed the songs of.
Against her own beliefs, she became rather good at preparing lattes and cappuccinos. She mentioned it to Tara once, and the girl said she'd believe it once she drinks it; Sam has been waiting for her to stop by.
Though as with everything, it wasn't perfect. Even before the rumors blaming her for the murders started, Sam was already an outsider, not quite allowed to fit in. She had no friends amongst the staff, only colleagues; and after the rumors, she even considered that to be a stretch.
Sam doesn't mind. She tells herself as much every day before walking in for work. But feeling judgemental eyes burning into your back at least once a day tends to take its toll on someone.
So she keeps to herself, she does her job, and she tries not to give them more reasons to bother her.
The small bell above the door dinged as someone came in, pulling Sam back to the present when she realized she would be the one taking the order.
She straightened her posture and smoothed down her uniform, looking around on the counter for her notepad and pen. Upon finding them, Sam finally glanced up and felt her breathing get momentarily stuck, the usual 'what can I get for you' dying on her tongue.
Part of Sam thinks she'd ironically recognize you anywhere. She realized you had that about you, something that felt unmistakable.
Same thing that happened to her apparently happened to you as well, as your lips hovered yet no words came out. It was that weird moment of I know you but I don't actually know you yet.
You were the first to talk, and Sam wanted to thank you for it. "Hey," you chuckled, somewhat awkwardly, "it's uh- Sam, right? It's nice to see you again."
Try as she might, Sam wasn't able to hold your gaze, she glanced down at her hands before looking at you again, "that's me," she gave you a small smile, "can I get you anything?"
"Yeah…" You dragged on, stuffing your hands on the pockets of your jeans as your gaze skimmed over the order options, "just a simple cappuccino to go, please." You eventually decided.
Sam felt your eyes on her as she scribbled your order down, even if it was just a cappuccino, she had the habit to write them all down. "Coming right up," she said, before turning around to make your order.
Ever since she started working here, she has probably made more than a hundred cappuccinos; yet she found herself checking things twice over. Espresso, steamed milk, foam. Everything carefully poured down on the cup.
You were standing right where she left you once she brought the order to you. That same gentle smile she saw two nights ago was present on your lips when you paid her and bid her goodbye.
Secretly, Sam wondered if you'd be back some other day.

It was never your plan to come to New York, let alone on your own. But tragedy strikes when you least expect it.
When, on one of his monthly calls to check in on you, you broke the news to your father that your mother had passed, he told you you should come live closer to him if you wanted to. And honestly, not feeling so alone in the world felt appealing.
So you packed everything you had of value, and took the leap. You had your mother to thank for being able to simply do that out of nowhere, she'd left everything of hers in your name, including her company's income.
But money hardly solves all problems, because you never actually met your father's side of the family. All you had were his phone calls, where he would sometimes briefly mention a sister you'd get along with if you were to meet, and not much else.
Upon knowing you'd be coming to the city, he gave you Quinn's contact, promising she would help you find a place to stay. You weren't exactly keen on meeting your sister for the first time all by yourself, but Quinn had been surprisingly easygoing; telling you all about how cool it was to have a sister instead of another brother. And the question 'I have a brother too?' lingered on your tongue, but you thought it would be a weird thing to ask. That was a few days ago, and you settled in a hotel for the time being.
In any way, you had a lot of catching up to do.
And now, anxiety was bubbling relentlessly in your stomach and you clutched tightly at the straps of your backpack. The police station was kinda busy at this time of day, but it was exactly the time he asked you to come in, so you did.
You didn't know exactly what to feel other than anxiety. How is one supposed to feel when they're about to see their father for the first time in their life?
It's a weird situation, though you couldn't really blame your mother for it; yes she took you away shortly after you were born, but from what she told you, she and your father didn't end on the best of terms. From the moment you were born, she'd been protective.
You reached the front desk, worrying your lower lip between your teeth. "Hello," you greeted the woman there.
She glanced up from the pile of papers she'd been sorting out, "hi there, what can I do for you?"
"Um- Detective Bailey asked me to stop by," you explained, and the woman in front of you raised an unamused eyebrow. Even before saying it, the words already felt somewhat strange in your mouth, "he's my father."
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
Your first two weeks in New York were hectic. Meeting a whole new side of your family was a strange experience, but you'd say it went well. Quinn was the easiest of all, she treated you as if you were one of her friends from university and you appreciated it. Ethan was distant, he was kind and polite, but you could tell he didn't want much to do with you. Your father was, essentially, what you expected him to be; he was kind and attentive, obviously a little awkward just as you were, but he seemed to genuinely care about you; as much as one can care about a daughter they'd never met.
Quinn had been quite insistent on having a sister bonding time with you, so you'd find yourself at her apartment more often than not. This led to you being acquainted with Mindy, Anika, and Chad, who were around just as much as you; plus Sam and Tara, of course.
The youngest of Quinn's roommates took an instant liking to you. Your personality matched Tara's quite well, you were happy to hear every gossip she liked the share about her colleagues at the university and the usual rant about her sister.
Sam, she was not an easy one to read; at first, you thought she might not even like you, but Tara explained that 'that's just how she is, she'll warm up to you eventually'.
Maybe that was part of the reason why you found yourself creating a habit of stopping by a certain coffee shop — after all, they served delicious food and drinks and the place was really cozy; the doe-eyed brunette who worked there was a bonus.
You'd usually stop by later on in the afternoon, when the sunlight had that deep golden glow just an hour or so before disappearing behind the horizon. It was a time of day the coffee shop was a little more crowded, but not as much as it was in the mornings.
Every time you walked in, you found yourself involuntarily looking for Sam; deep down feeling like a schoolgirl with a crush because of the butterflies that invaded your stomach whenever she remembered your order.
You quickly realized the importance of details with Sam. The more you came to eat at the coffee shop, the slightly more comfortable she became with you. It started with her serious expression changing to a small smile whenever she saw you, then she started greeting you by your name, and recently, she has been drawing little smiley faces on your cup.
The usual booth you'd sit at was tucked in a more reserved corner, just beside one of the windows; you liked the privacy. Each time that Sam brought your cappuccino and apple pie, you held yourself back from asking if she could sit down and have a coffee with you.
Maybe tomorrow, you'd think to yourself.
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
The smell of freshly made lasagna filled the whole apartment. If you had a good enough sense of smell, you'd be able to tell it was just the slightest bit burned, but no one seemed to care.
Mindy and Chad could be heard bickering about how to properly take said lasagna out of the oven without causing a disaster, Tara was opening up a cheap wine bottle while Anika set the dining table, and Quinn was switching through channels on the TV.
It was a pleasant sight for someone who wasn't used to many of those.
Sam had just gotten out of the shower, towel in her hands as she finished drying off her hair. She had managed to get out of work earlier today and ditched therapy so she could have dinner with her found family — which honestly felt more like therapy than actual therapy.
A chuckle escaped Sam's lips when Mindy called her brother a moron with a halfhearted slap on the back of his head.
And then, three soft knocks came from the front door.
"I got it," Sam told them, hanging her towel over her shoulder as she got over to the door and steadily undid all the locks in it. She knew who it was, Quinn warned you'd be coming for dinner today too. Sam felt a little childish when anticipation started twirling in her stomach.
Selfishly, Sam wanted to think that this specific smile of yours belonged to her.
"Hi," she greeted you with the same softness you stared back at her with; for the second time today, the first being at the coffee shop. Sam figured she wouldn't mind seeing you more often, "come in, dinner is almost ready."
"Hey Sam," you smiled timidly as you walked past her and inside the apartment.
Sam has known you for a little over two weeks, and there should be alarms blaring inside her head for the way she felt so naturally drawn to you. But there wasn't, there was only the softness of your presence and the way she wanted to drown in it.
"Hey new girl," Mindy called, her voice ringing loudly through the room as she peeked over from the kitchen with a grin, "you like lasagna?"
"Of course," you grinned, taking off your jacket and failing to see the way Sam's gaze lingered a little too long on you, "who doesn't like lasagna?"
Mindy pointed a finger at you, "right answer," she quipped before disappearing back into the kitchen.
Sam awkwardly cleared her throat next to you, "let me take this for you."
You glanced beside you to see the girl subtly gesturing for your jacket, unsure if the redness of her cheeks was a trick of the light or not. "Oh, thanks, Sam."
"Alright y'all, dinner's on the table," Mindy announced, getting everyone to flock to the dining room.
It was maybe after the second or third time you'd stopped by that you had unconsciously assigned a seat for yourself at their table. Ironically, it was the one beside Sam.
If you were being honest with yourself, you had a lot to thank this peculiar group of friends; if it wasn't for all the laughs they managed to pull out of you at each dinner, maybe settling in on the new city wouldn't have gone so smoothly. They sure took away the feeling of loneliness that had been steadily collecting in your chest ever since your mother passed.
And you had found a reason to like every single one of them; Mindy was naturally funny and made you feel as welcome as if you'd known her your whole life, and so did Anika; Chad was the exact opposite of what you'd picture him to be, sharing his sister's tendency for kindness; Sam was… you couldn't find a word to describe her quite yet, maybe entrancing could work; and Tara, well, you'd just found out tonight she shared your penchant for horror movies.
That's how, after dinner, you found yourself laying with Tara on her bed as you watched a movie of her choosing.
"You know, I'm glad you decided to come to New York," Tara told you out of the blue, the sound coming from her TV almost covering her voice.
Her room was dimly lit, the only source of light being the TV itself and a small lamp on her desk, you could barely make out her features. "I am too, I'm sure glad I met you guys."
Tara chuckled fondly at that, "Sam seems to like you," she told you quietly, her voice sounding as if she was letting you in on a pretty secret, "she could use a friend, you know."
You caught the hidden words in her soft tone. You weren't blind to how lonely Sam tended to be sometimes. Isolating herself even in a room full of people who cared about her.
Though it stunned you for a brief moment that Tara was asking that of you, you wondered if she saw something you didn't. At this point, you already knew of their story, at least partially; from articles online about the Woodsboro killings, and consequently, from the rumors circling around about Sam. Needless to say, your heart broke for them.
"I'd be happy to be her friend, if she'd have me," you meant it.
The movie extended longer than you predicted and Tara was already dozing off on your shoulder by the time the credits rolled. So you carefully turned off her TV and sneaked yourself out of her bed, your steps as light as a feather touching the floor.
You closed the door to her room with extreme delicacy and only as you turned around, did you notice the absolute darkness of the rest of the apartment.
It looked like everyone had already called it a night.
The only thing illuminating your steps was the soft orange glow coming in through the windows from the street lamps outside. The apartment held an eery silence to it, the clean plates and cutlery you all had used earlier rested on top of the table, there was an occasional sound of water droplets falling from the kitchen sink, and the red numbers of the clock on the coffee table read 12:37 AM.
The darkness and silence were a striking contrast to the commotion from earlier.
You opted for turning on the lights in the kitchen so you could look for your jacket and go home for the night; though after a good five minutes of unsuccessful searching you were almost considering leaving without it. That's when a soft, barely there whimper caught your ears.
It got a cold shiver running up and down your back, momentarily making you imagine yourself in a horror movie.
Until your eyes landed on the bigger couch of the living room and you saw Sam; she was curled up there, fast asleep with her hands under her head and knees tucked up to her chest, looking much smaller than she actually was, just barely being highlighted by the kitchen light.
You couldn't help the swelling of your heart. She was undeniably endearing.
There was the sound of a siren passing by in the distance. You looked out the window by instinct, but you couldn't see where exactly it came from.
When your eyes settled back on Sam, you found her clutching at the cushions under her head, a frown etched unpleasantly on her eyebrows. Her hair was messy, you realized; maybe from tossing and turning too much.
You were genuinely not sure what got into you, it's not like you have enough intimacy to even be seeing her like this. But you crouched down in front of her, one hand coming to rest gently on her shoulder.
Before you could even fully touch her, Sam was already stirring awake. Her body was visibly tense and her eyes a tad too wide and alert for someone who just woke up.
"I'm… sorry," you said quietly, feeling embarrassment crawling up your neck and to your cheeks, "sorry I woke you up."
Sam held herself up with her elbow, her free hand running through her messy hair. She wasn't looking at you, attempting to regulate her unsteady breathing.
You could see it from the way her chest moved up and down quickly. And there you followed a single drop of sweat running down from her neck to her collarbone. The night was far too cold for her to be sweating.
You wanted to reach out, but didn't. "I was just wondering where you put my jacket," you continued when she remained quiet.
Sam felt bare in front of you, somewhat timid. There were goosebumps rising on her skin. She nearly didn't find her voice, "I'll go get it for you."
You waited for her by the front door, shifting on your feet. She came back with your jacket in her hands, clutching tightly onto it so you wouldn't catch the shaking of her fingers. But you did, you also caught onto the hollowness of her eyes and the hair clinging to her damp forehead. You knew it wasn't your place to ask, but Sam looked so alone in the darkness of the apartment, that you feared she might let herself be swallowed by it the moment you leave.
"Are you okay?"
Sam's expression did something complicated, unsure of how to feel. Several beats passed in silence, as if she was considering how to answer you. Eventually, she nodded softly, "I'm alright, just tired from work."
It was a half-truth. You had been there today when a group of teenagers came into the coffee shop, one of them casting accusatory glances at Sam as he whispered — quite loudly — the word 'murderer' to his friends. You weren't able to wave her goodbye after that. She stayed hidden in the back.
Maybe your heart felt something it wasn't telling you yet, because it was hurting, for her. "For what it's worth," the words rolled off your tongue in a soft whisper, "I don't believe them."
Sam's lips parted, her mouth going dry and her doe eyes glinting with a sudden vulnerability. The grip she had around your jacket tightened.
Your smile was bittersweet this time, "the rumors, I don't believe them."
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
"I don't think I see you," you spoke on the phone, squinting at the evening sun shining on your eyes as you walked the busy streets of New York.
Last night your father had called you just before he left the police station, asking if maybe you would like to have an afternoon snack with him today; stop by at a popular bakery to catch up on lost time.
You felt an unfamiliar warmth on your chest at the request, agreeing promptly. He was trying to form a connection with you, and honestly, it was something you wanted too. You already lost one parent, you didn't fancy losing the other.
"I see you."
He spoke over the phone.
"Look to your right."
You followed his instructions and sure enough, he was on the other side of the street, his arms up and obnoxiously waving you over so you'd see him.
A chuckle escaped you as you hurriedly crossed the street, tucking your phone into the back pocket of your jeans. You smiled tentatively then, slowly closing the distance between you and him without knowing if you should lean in for a hug or extend your hand for a shake.
Bailey decided for you, he was opening his arms before you even reached him.
The hug was brief but welcomed. He kept one hand on your shoulder when he pulled away, seemingly taking a good look at you as a sincere smile appeared on his expression; "thank you for coming, I know we've never been too close, but I would like us to be."
You reached up to the hand he still had on your shoulder and squeezed his wrist in reassurance, "I would like it too."
That was enough to cut through the awkward bits of tension still lingering between you. Part of you felt like you were fifteen again, giddy for having your father dedicate a whole afternoon for you and you only.
It didn't make the pain of losing your mother go away, but it engulfed it into something more bearable. Something you could get used to.

It was about an hour after lunch that Sam received a rather urgent call from Tara. The only words she managed to focus on were "asthma attack" and "inhaler at the apartment."
The problem? Sam was basically on the other side of town.
Her first option was Mindy, but the girl wasn't picking up her phone. And then neither was Chad. Her last resort was calling her own apartment in the hopes that Quinn was home and could drive to the university with Tara's inhaler.
The line ringed, and ringed, and ringed. Until…
"Hello?"
The thought about why she recognized your voice so easily flew by. "Y/n?" Sam stopped in her tracks, forcing the other people on the sidewalk to walk around her.
"Sam?"
"What are you-"
"No, I didn't break into your apartment."
Sam heard your chuckle from the other end of the line.
"I stopped by to bring something to Quinn."
"Y/n, I need you to-" Sam took in a deep breath, running a hand through her hair and gripping at the roots of it. She closed her eyes tightly, "Tara is having an asthma attack and she left her inhaler at the apartment, could you ask Quinn to-"
"Sam, calm down."
Your soft voice made Sam realize she was having trouble breathing.
"Breathe, okay? I'll take it to her, I'm less than five minutes away by bike, I'll let you know when I get there."
Sam bit at the inside of her cheek, nodding even though you couldn't see it, "thank you."
Only mere minutes passed by — though they felt much longer than usual — until Sam received a text from you, it read 'hey' and she could see you were still typing.
Sam held onto her breath and only released it once you sent her the next text, which read 'all is good'. Instant relief washed over her and she leaned back on the wall of the random store she was standing in front of.
Her cellphone vibrated again, and this time it was a picture of you and Tara making silly faces while you held her close.
The smile that came to Sam's lips was as big as ever, her heart beating painfully against her ribs as if it was trying to leap from her chest and into the screen of her phone; all so it could reach you.
Sam typed back; 'I owe you one.'
She held back on sending a heart emoji.
It was becoming increasingly harder to deny the way she started feeling about you; how you seemingly occupied a place in her heart no one else could have; or how she hoped to see you walk into the coffee shop every day, because, on the off chance you didn't, something felt out of place, missing.
Maybe it was time for her to do something about it.
And the opportunity presented itself on the very next day.
It was a cloudy Tuesday afternoon, the coffee shop lacking its usual golden rays that came through the window at this time of day. There was a slightly colder breeze in the air, it came through each time a new customer opened the door and it forced Sam to wear her jacket on top of her uniform.
Sam had been anticipating your arrival ever since the clock hit 4 PM, which was the time you usually stopped by. She couldn't help looking up at the door each time she heard the bell above it.
It scared her, to take a chance like this. Trusting people with your heart only opens room for them to break it. She knows it.
But oh you made her want to turn a blind eye to every single risk, and fear, and doubt.
Sam wondered, for a moment, if destiny was playing with her. Because when the clock hit 4:47 PM you walked through the coffee shop's doors and the sky just so happened to have a crack in its clouds, casting a faded glow that bathed you aureate for a moment.
Sam's eyes were unfocused, caught in a daze that was only broken when you were already standing in front of her.
"Good afternoon, Sam," you smiled, your cheeks flushed from the cold wind outside.
"Hi," Sam stumbled out, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she cleared her throat, "the usual?"
"Please," you confirmed, already reaching inside your backpack for your wallet, but Sam's hand on your forearm stopped you.
The touch of her skin on yours felt electric. Sam pulled her hand back quickly, timidly curling her fingers to try and keep the feeling of you a little longer. "This one is on me," her voice wasn't nearly as confident as it needed to be for that line.
You were about to open your mouth to protest, but she beat you to it; "please, let me do this. As a thank you for you helping Tara yesterday."
A sly smile crept into your lips, your eyes roaming over Sam up and down before you spoke; "only if you drink something with me."
Your boldness surprised Sam, in the best of ways. She was burning up inside, her heart working overtime to keep up with her feelings. Despite the cold, she felt suddenly warm.
"I have a break in ten."
When Sam brought your order to your table — the usual table in the far right corner near the biggest window — she sat down in front of you. She carefully placed down your cappuccino and apple pie before closing both her hands around the simple cup of coffee she had for herself.
You took your time with taking a sip from your drink, closing your eyes when the slightly sweet, warm beverage hit your tongue.
Sam followed each movement, from the way your fingers closed around the mug to the way the corner of your lips lifted just the smallest bit after tasting the coffee she made — for a moment you were all she could see. Though she shook herself off of it pretty quickly, realizing how it might be creepy. Sam took a generous drink of her coffee as well.
"Do you like it?" Came the sudden sweetness of your voice, "working at a coffee shop?"
A faint smell of burnt bread reached Sam's nose, it was probably Enrique forgetting about the oven again. She could hear loud chatter happening at the entrance of the coffee shop, it was probably the five students who usually stopped by at this time of day. Sam was hesitating. Between apartment visits because of Quinn and everyday meet-ups for her to make you coffee, Sam didn't plan for herself coming this far with you.
"Could be worse," were the words that eventually escaped her mouth, "beats the bowling alley."
You chuckled, a lovely sound as you sheepishly glanced down, your thumb tracing the edge of your mug. Sam wanted to pull her cell phone out and trap this moment in time; it felt precious enough to do so.
"I definitely prefer coming to coffee shops instead of bowling alleys," you smirked.
Sam somewhat mimicked your smile, "are you liking New York?"
You hummed, choosing to take a bite of your pie before answering, "all things considered, I am. It's a lot of getting used to," you had a faraway gaze out the window then, leaning your chin on your hand, "meeting a whole new side of my family is… strange. But we're getting along surprisingly well, I've been going out with my father at least once a week, Ethan is more distant but still nice whenever we meet, and, well, I've been visiting Quinn quite regularly, as you know."
Sam took in each of your words, softly nodding along, "it's good one of us is feeling at home, sort of." She gulped, mulling over her next words, "you know you're welcome at the apartment whenever. Tara adores you… everyone does."
If you caught Sam's 'I adore you' you didn't comment on it. Instead, you asked; "how are you settling in? Tara mentioned you guys moved in only a few weeks before I did."
That had Sam holding back a sigh. She leaned back on her side of the booth, "feels like all the shit that happened in Woodsboro followed us all the way here."
Some days were better than others. Some days the weight on her shoulders felt more bearable and the people around her weren't as menacing with their baseless accusations. Some days were worse.
"I'm sorry about everything that's been going on the internet about you," you said.
Sam met your eyes and found there a gentleness no one had ever looked at her with.
"You don't deserve it, Sam."
Being with you was as easy as breathing. For a fleeting moment inside the walls of the coffee shop, there were no rumors crucifying Sam for something she didn't do; there were no bad memories taking her sleep at night; there were no permanent scars marking her skin — there was only Samantha, the girl who had almost forgotten what it felt like to just worry about which words to say next to impress the girl she developed feelings for.
And if she went to bed that night with the ghost of a smile on her lips because you kissed her cheek goodbye earlier, that was nobody's business but hers.

"Guys, what do you say we order pizza for tonight?" Sam threw the idea into the night.
It was nearing 7 PM and it was a Saturday, meaning it was the unofficial girl's night of the week. Sam, Mindy, Anika, Tara, and Quinn sat together in the living room of Sam's apartment watching a random action movie. Dinner time was nearing and none of them really fancied cooking tonight.
"I think it's a good idea," Mindy agreed, leaning back on the couch and pulling Anika with her, "do you think one is enough for the five of us?"
"Six," Sam spoke without looking up from her phone, already searching for the pizza place's number, "I invited Y/n over."
Save for the movie playing in the background, there was a sudden silence in the living room. It stretched on until Sam found the number and looked up to see everyone staring at her.
A frown slowly came to her eyebrows and she chuckled awkwardly, fidgeting with her phone, "what?"
"You invited her?" Quinn started.
"You two have been growing quite close," Mindy added, an all-too-knowing grin on her lips.
Tara had her lips hung open, being the last one to catch up on her sister's painfully obvious crush.
"We're… friends, she's nice," Sam shrugged, feeling herself grow self-conscious with the attention and involuntarily curling in on herself a little. She got up from the couch then, deciding to go make the call to order the pizza outside in the hallway as she figured she wouldn't have much peace inside right now.
She put on her house slippers and walked to the front door, hearing Mindy shout; "I've heard that before," right as she closed the door behind her.
Sam found herself slowly roaming to the lobby as she spoke on the phone, a cold air came from the entrance doors of her apartment building as she spoke on the phone, making her hug herself to preserve the warmth.
The pizza would be arriving in about thirty minutes, and just before Sam turned around to walk back inside to the coziness of her apartment, her cell phone dinged with a message from you letting her know you were here.
Sam saw herself smiling at the screen of her phone, at the small heart emoji you added beside the text.
The main doors of the entrance hall hinged as you walked in, and the first thing Sam noticed was that you were quite underdressed for the weather outside; only a thin jacket kept your body warm, your hair was all tousled from the wind and you had your hands buried in the pockets of your sweatpants. Still, you smiled brightly when you spotted Sam coming towards you.
"Aren't you cold?" Sam chuckled as she met you in the middle, coming to a stop a little closer to you than she should. Her eyes involuntarily roamed up and down your body, always engraving the image of you in her mind as if it was the first and last time she'd be seeing you; even if she has known you for nearly two months now.
"You bet I'm cold," without much of a warning, you brought one hand up and cupped Sam's cheek; the coldness of your skin contrasted with the warmth of hers.
Sam shivered from head to toe, and it wasn't because of the coldness of your fingers, for she could feel her cheeks warming up even more.
Unable to hold your gaze as she did so, Sam took hold of your freezing hand, "come on, let's get you warmed up. I ordered pizza."
You followed her willingly, nuzzling against her shoulder as you walked.
You're both not sure when this newfound intimacy happened. But you weren't complaining. Your heart was so full of Sam that you could hardly call it your own anymore. And Sam doesn't know what happiness means if it isn't written with the letters of your name.
Though it wasn't until a whole week later, that you did something about it.
This Friday was a rainy one, the skies had grey clouds looming over everyone on the streets as heavy raindrops fell steadily. Water splashed around people's shoes as they walked, holding their coats close to their bodies and their umbrellas above their heads.
Sam didn't have an umbrella. She'd given hers to Tara this morning because technically she wouldn't need it, she'd catch a ride with one of the nicer coworkers at the coffee shop when it was time to leave.
Sam was walking in the rain.
She never made it to 7 PM, which was usually the time she'd get off work. Her boss had dismissed her much earlier today; 'it doesn't look good to have a barista covered in coffee' was what he'd said.
Now, the huge coffee stain on her shirt was barely there, being replaced by the water falling from the sky. The pouring rain had already soaked through Sam's clothing; it trickled down her chin and made her hair stuck to her forehead. It was cold, she was shaking, and her fingers were becoming numb.
Today had been one of those unfortunate days. It was a group of teenagers, Sam can't exactly remember what they looked like; she had been the one to bring their orders to the table, and when their eyes met hers she could instantly see the hatred there. Various false accusations left their lips as one of them 'accidentally' spilled their coffee all over Sam. Today wasn't a good day.
Sam didn't know where she was going to, she was almost sure she was walking in the complete opposite direction of her apartment. She didn't stop, keeping her head low in hopes the rain would completely engulf her being.
"Sam?" The call of her name sounded like a hallucination at first. Too sweet, and too far away to be real.
"Sam!" Now it was closer, clearer between the heavy raindrops hitting the pavement.
It made Sam look up, one hand brushing over her eyes to clean the rain stuck to her lashes. Instantly, she forgot how to breathe.
You were coming towards her, one hand holding your coat and the other holding a faded pink umbrella above your head. You looked distressed, there was a frown on your eyebrows that Sam wanted to smooth away with her fingers.
Between the smell of coffee on her shirt and the rain on her skin, Sam had forgotten this was the time you usually came to the coffee shop.
Sam was suddenly shielded from the falling rain. You had to stay close so your umbrella would cover both of you. "Sam…" Your tone was sorrowful as your evident worry escaped you, "what are you doing out here like this? What happened?" You looked her up and down, taking in her purplish fingertips, her soaked clothes and hair, and the barely there coffee stain of her shirt.
The image of you in front of Sam started to blur over; she opened her lips to speak, tasting the raindrops there, yet the words were clogged up on the lump in her throat. A feeling of shame was crawling inside her guts, piercing through her heart for having you see her like this. Sam avoided your eyes, focusing on her boots instead.
Your sneakers inched closer and Sam felt your gentle fingers pushing away strands of her wet hair; the softness of your touch amidst all the harshness she was used to nearly made her crumble.
"Did someone do this to you?" You asked even softer.
Another beat of silence, and then; "I don't know why they hate me so much." Was all Sam told you, her voice nothing but a whisper that broke in the middle.
In the same heartbeat, with the hand that wasn't holding your umbrella, you took hold of Sam's waist, pulling her body close to yours in a warm embrace.
Sam clung to you as if you'd vanish into thin air any minute. Both her arms instantly came around your shoulders in a close-knit grip as she bunched the fabric of your coat between her fingers.
You adjusted your hold around her waist, mimicking the same strength she held you with. Part of you knew she needed to feel that kind of reassuring pressure, shielding her away from reality.
Her body was worryingly cold, the wetness of her clothes was seeping into your own but you couldn't find it in yourself to mind. Because Sam buried her head into the crook of your neck and you could feel steady wet drops falling into your skin, and you knew they weren't from the rain.
Sam's sobs were muffled against you. And as her body trembled in your hold, your heart shattered.
"Let me take you home," you whispered, your lips brushing the skin of her shoulder until you placed a kiss there.
Sam's grip on you tightened, bringing your bodies closer together if that was even possible. "Okay."
And you did take her home. Sam only didn't imagine that when you said home, you meant your apartment, not hers.
To say your place was better than Sam's would be an understatement. Your apartment wasn't overly luxurious, but it was evident that it was expensive.
Admittedly, Sam felt out of place. Not necessarily in a bad way; only in the way that you were clearly much better off in life than she was, and it made her feel a little self-conscious to think she'd been fantasizing about a chance with you, when, admittedly, you could do better.
You let go of your umbrella but kept holding onto Sam's hand, leading her to your bedroom, "come on, let's get you some dry clothes."
Your bedroom was the most 'you' room in the house. There was a double bed in the middle, a dresser, a desk with a computer and a whole lot of other things on top — books, a collection of pens, a couple of sketchbooks, small fantasy figures such as soldiers on horses and dragons — a mirror just beside the dresser, a bookshelf, and several pictures and fairy lights stuck to the walls. Everywhere Sam looked, there was a bit of you.
She hovered in the middle of it all, shaking from head to toe because of how cold her body was, and hyper-aware of the water still dripping from her soaked clothes and into the wooden floor.
You rummaged through your dresser until you found a comfy pair of purple sweatpants and a hoodie of the same color. You handed them to Sam, "the bathroom is just down the hall, feel free to take a shower and warm yourself up okay? I'll be in the kitchen."
Sam gulped down the lump still stuck in her throat, nodding along with your words, "thank you, you didn't have to do all this," her voice still held that same rawness to it, though the corner of her lips quirked up.
You let out a breathy chuckle, tilting your head to the side as if she just spoke a foreign language. "Yeah I did, that's what people do when they care about each other."
Under the warm orange glow of the fairy lights of your bedroom, Sam could count the specks of color in your eyes. She could drown in the ocean that was you and everything you made her feel.
Sometimes, you look at each other as if you're about to kiss.
Sam wondered if it was the same for you when she caught your eyes drifting to her lips. Before she could figure it out, you were sheepishly avoiding her eyes and walking off to the kitchen.
When Sam walked out of the bathroom, her skin now warm and her hair with the smell of your shampoo, you had just finished making two mugs of hot chocolate.
You heard her bare feet approaching you, felt her lingering gaze on your back. You could tell Sam wasn't allowing herself to be completely comfortable here yet. You hoped to change that.
Turning around, you were met with the endearing sight of Sam in your clothes, her hair still damp and cheeks now flushed from the hot water of the shower. She looked like your favorite dream.
You walked up to her, handing her one of the mugs, "now it's my turn to serve you," you winked.
Sam closed both hands around the mug, an inevitable chuckle escaping her.
You leaned back on the counter of your kitchen, hearing the rain that still poured outside hitting the windows. "Feeling better?"
Before answering, Sam took a sip of her hot chocolate, humming at the sweetness and warmth of it. "Much better."
"You can stay as long as you'd like," you told her, because you knew she needed to hear it.
Sam's thumb traced the rim of her mug. You could see her lips pulling thin, feel her uneasiness.
"I would like you to stay, Sam."
Thunder started rumbling in the distance as the rain picked up even more. Sam would be stuck with you for a while; maybe you should make the most of having her all to yourself.
You put down your mug and pushed yourself away from the kitchen counter. Sam could be fragile sometimes, you realized; there was a part of her that always remained guarded, waiting for the next blow to come. Yet you could almost feel the desperate calls of her lonely heart.
When you took a step closer to her, Sam didn't take one away from you, and it was all the confirmation you needed. She had a white-knuckled grip on her mug, though it relaxed immediately when your hand enveloped hers and you took the mug, putting it aside on the counter.
Sam was holding herself as stiff as a corpse; if you were anyone else, she would have taken her chance already, but you were you, and the fear that she might fuck it up spoke louder. Her eyes followed each of your movements though, her pupils blown wide and reflecting the vulnerability of a heart that started beating for you, for you, for you.
Both your hands eventually reached up to her cheeks, your fingers tracing her jaw and your thumbs brushing the skin beneath her eyes.
Inevitably, Sam melted in your hold, a breath leaving her lips as she closed her eyes for a beat. No one ever held her as if she was something precious. You always did.
First, your lips met her forehead in a kiss that felt like a promise. Then, your nose brushed hers when you leaned in; your breaths mingling as your hands found the back of her neck to pull her in.
You were gentle, so much so that Sam hardly felt your lips. You guided her into a chaste kiss, just a touch of your soft lips that fitted perfectly with hers. So perfectly, she'd dare say you were made just for her.
Small as it was, the gesture of affection got Sam grasping at your waist; her hands holding onto you with the same desperation as before. As if happiness, for her, was limited.
Sam didn't dare open her eyes when you pulled back. It was foolish, but she wanted to utter those three words just for the fact that you didn't go far, choosing to keep your forehead leaning against hers.
"Are you sure?" The words stumbled out of Sam's lips in an unsteady whisper as she took to memory what it felt like to have you this close.
You pulled away and she felt like crying.
It was only enough so you could look into her eyes, and there you saw everything she didn't want you to see. In those dark doe eyes that shone with the dim lights of your kitchen; you saw her fear, her loneliness; you saw the way she thought of herself as a person who doesn't deserve to be taken out of the rain, but who longs for someone to do so anyway.
"More than I've ever been in my life," you whispered back, pulling her in before you even finished speaking. You clashed your lips together, not holding back this time, because if she didn't believe your words, she would believe your touch; she would believe the way your hands tangled in her hair and how your tongue brushed over her bottom lip, tasting the lingering sweetness of hot chocolate there.
Yet, between each breathless kiss, you'd mumble, "I promise."
And Sam would hold you more firmly, her arms encircling your waist as she traced a path down your neck with her lips, confessions rolling off her tongue.
You had her at your mercy; she was yours. But you were hers too.

It's been fifteen minutes already. Fifteen minutes of Sam glaring at her phone as if it would relent and type the message for her.
"Sammy, this is getting sad," Mindy popped a popcorn in her mouth, side-eyeing Sam's figure; who was huddled in a blanket on the couch beside hers, "just ask her already."
"Yeah, I will," Sam groaned, hugging her blanket closer to her chest, "just… finding the right words."
"The words are: 'do you want to go on a date with me? Yes or no?' Simple." A popcorn flew in Sam's direction as Mindy explained, "stop making a big deal of it, it's not like you guys never went out together anyway."
Sam pursed her lips, staring at the little picture of you in her contacts. It's true, you've met for outings multiple times already; but there was something more now, an incessant swarm of butterflies in her stomach whenever Sam thought of you.
"It's different," she said quietly, "I don't wanna mess it up." Her vulnerability dripped from each syllable.
Mindy softened at that, forgetting about the movie playing on the TV and properly turning to look at her friend; "you won't mess it up, Sam. She likes you, everyone can see it."
It felt nice to hear the words out loud, it made them all the more real — as if your make-out session from a few days ago wasn't enough. Sam could feel her cheeks growing warmer by the minute as she finally typed her message and hit send before the small bit of courage went away.
Mindy had been right, after all.
That night, Sam took you out for dinner and a movie; classic, but she learned that you loved the classics. Especially when you pressed your lips to hers again before saying goodbye, in a kiss that Sam would be happy to live in forever.

The stairs that led up to her apartment weren't the most comfortable seat, but the empty hallways provided much-needed peace.
Sam buried her head in her hands, clawing at the roots of her hair. Her shirt was still damp, the smell becoming annoying. She could feel the back of her eyes stinging but she gulped back the feeling.
"You know you don't always have to wait for me down here."
It was almost magical, how your voice sent a wave of easiness through Sam's body. It was almost as if you carefully reached inside her chest and took away the burden there.
You were walking up to her, a smirk on your lips and a backpack hanging from your shoulder, "I know the way to your apartment."
Sam mimicked your smile, getting up with more haste than usual and meeting you halfway in the empty hallway. She didn't give you much of a warning before bringing you into a searing kiss, her hands cupped your cheeks and she had your bottom lip trapped between hers; chasing the feeling only you could give her.
A gasp escaped you when she collided with you. Your giggles got muffled by her lips and you took hold of her waist to steady yourself.
It's been four months since Sam started calling you hers. Four months since she's been able to gloat because you're her girlfriend. Four months in which she's been the happiest she's ever been in her life.
"I missed you," she spoke against your lips.
You kissed the words, frowning playfully, "you saw me this afternoon."
"Exactly," Sam's smile stretched further, "too long," and then she was leaning in again, and again, and again.
Sam could be intense sometimes, but you knew how to recognize when she was doing it for fun, or to forget about something else.
You took hold of one of her hands then, breaking the kiss she had you trapped in so you could place one to her knuckles, "is that cherry coke I smell on you?"
"Maybe," she dragged the word, her fingers intertwining with yours.
"Are you making a habit of having people throw drinks at you?" You raised an eyebrow at her before squeezing her hand reassuringly, "what happened?"
Sam let out a halfhearted groan, shrugging her shoulders as she avoided your eyes, "just some conspiracy psychos… and Tara is pissed at me."
"Did you guys have another fight?" You asked sympathetically.
"She was at this party and I tased a guy who was trying to take advantage of her, and now she's mad at me," Sam distracted herself by playing with your fingers as she spoke, "keeps telling me I should let her go."
In your four months with Sam, you learned how protective she could be of those she cares about, especially after what happened in Woodsboro. You learned that because you were now on that list too. You'd lost count of how many guys she threatened because of you already, each time you went out for drinks together and a strange dude decided to try his luck with you Sam would pull out her taser and aim it right where it hurts most.
In truth, you understood both sides. Yes, Sam could be overprotective sometimes; but she had her reasons.
"Family can be complicated, I would know," you pushed back strands of Sam's dark hair, never having enough of how she leaned into your touch, "but Tara will come around soon."
You felt the shape of Sam's smile on your palm right before she placed a kiss there. Part of you lived only for these sweet, precious moments.
"Hey guys," Chad's voice suddenly broke your peaceful bubble. You and Sam looked up to see him on the stairs, "come up here, quick."
Sam walked into her apartment holding onto your hand, and her grip only tightened when she saw what everyone was watching on the TV.
A student from Blackmore University had just been murdered, Mindy recognized him from their film studies class.
Tension lay heavy in the room, but especially, it radiated off Sam; you could feel it in the tremble of her hold on your hand when the reporter spoke about the several Ghostface costumes left at the scene of the crime.
