totally feel free to ignore but what are some tips you have for writing? I rlly want to write x readers soon but idk how to start

Write for yourself: write what you want, when you want, for whatever reason you want, and don't let it become an obligation. It's hard to gain traction on a site like tumblr so you don't want to get discouraged by a lack of feedback/notes: which will probably happen if you're trying to write for others instead of yourself. Gaining fame should be irrelevant to you: it'll make you happier in the long run and save you a bunch of self doubt.

Read a lot. It can be whatever you prefer: fiction, nonfiction, fanfiction, etc. It simply helps to remind you what proper grammar, sentences, and characters look like. If you ever find yourself struggling to word things, take a break and read something else.

If you're creating a new blog to write on, reblog things to it or make unimportant posts on it immediately upon creating it. They can be things you'll end up deleting in the future, it really doesn't matter, it simply helps your blog be seen in the tags you're looking to post in quicker. Tumblr; at least when I started, has a sort of authorization process (for lack of a better term) where a new blogs posts will not be seen in tags until they've made a couple posts/reblogs. It's a sort of "prove you're not a robot" process that ends quicker by doing the aforementioned things.

Tag things properly and learn proper fanfiction terms.

Rewatching/rereading is your friend. Sometimes it's necessary to watch clips back again to see the little things that you might have missed on your first viewing. Even the smallest of interactions can really help to flesh out a character when writing for them.

Watch other films. There's only so many different kinds of character archetypes out there and finding similar characters to watch can help you come up with ideas for the ones you want to write for.

Don't limit yourself. Experiment with different kinds of fanfiction and see what works for you. You might prefer one type of fanfiction over the other or you might want to write different kinds. (i.e. look into the difference between imagines, headcanons, blurbs, etc.)

Don't force yourself to finish something. If you want to write ten different things all at once, don't force yourself to complete the post you're struggling with when you could finish two different ones in the mean time.

Give credit where credit is due. Don't grab a gif from a random place and claim it as your own or steal writing from somebody else (even if it's just a small segment). Always tag or link wherever you've found something and respect peoples wishes if they don't want you to use it.

Being self indulgent is part of the fun but try not to let it cloud your judgement when writing for different characters; especially if you're trying to appeal to an audience. There's a fine line between writing fanfic and making an oc out of preexisting characters: both are fine but if you're trying to appeal to the masses and/or be accurate, don't force things to fit just because you wish they were so.

Hiei is...a little oblivious in all honesty, he probably thinks you did something to him....

But as soon as he shows how different he acts around you and the others notice this, they will confront Hiei about it.

Once they say his in love, the first thing his gonna in a lot of in denial.

Like how can he fall for a weak human?? Thats the question that runs through his brain all the time.

He thought that it was lust, like a sexual thing but he was wrong....his the definition of 'He fell first and fell harder'.

Once he realizes that he actually wants you to be his mate for life, he will never ever let you go.

He will do these little things that will show how he cares for you, and you might think its because y'all are friends but nooo, he never did those things to Kurama or the others now did he?

He wanted you to confess first but of course in the end this man is impatient soo he decided to confess first!

''Go out with me mortal'' Hiei saids to you looking straight into your eyes ''W-What?'' You respond ''Did I stutter?'' He snarled and you just nod while blushing and thats how y'all because a couple!

Basically when Hiei realizes his in love, the first thing he'll do is be in denial, about how he could fall for a human.

Then he'll have a talk session with Kurama, probs asking for advice, waits for you to confess first(But gets impatient so in the end confesses first) and dropping barely noticeable hints.

Hiei having a crush is very much new to him, so do cut him some slack~

Kurama having a crush is....interesting to say the least.

Now Kurama wouldn't care much for looks, the first thing is personality and how well you'll get along with his family.

Unlike Hiei there's no denial, its more like ''What am I feeling?''

When he asks his mom and tells her everything, he discovers that what he feeling was love....

Love for you? How unexpected.

At first he would try to push those feelings away since he doesn't want you to get involved in things that are none of your business.

Yoko at first also just wanted to use you for...somethings but soon fell hard for you just like Shuichi did.

I feel like the time when Shuichi confessed to you, Yoko was itching to take over Shuichi and just kiss hug you lol

He definitely confesses first, with the flowers and beneath a tree.

''Are you be free this coming weekend?'' Kurama asked kissing your Backhand, you blushed and just nodded to his question due to being embarrassed. ''Hm..good, I would love to take you on a...date~'' Kurama said smiling tenderly at you but his cheeks have darken shades of pink. ''O-Oh...i..I'll see you then!'' You unintentionally yell, he just chuckles and kissed your backhand again.

When Kurama falls in love, as I stated above. He falls hard.

He will be the best boyfriend you'll ever have!(Not like you guys will break up)

We’re All Fired Up!!

Hey everyone!

The Guild Awards are back for the first bi-annual term of 2023! We hope everyone had a wonderful start to the year! Thank you to those who participated last term for making it so enjoyable. We look forward to all the new fanfiction and fanart to be nominated for this term. 

Shout out to @pencilofawesomeness​ for creating last term’s banners! If you haven’t received yours, please reach out to one of the mods asap!

Some changes that are taking place that may effect you as nominators. We have decided to take out both NSFW categories, as there hasn’t been much participation in those categories the last couple of terms. So at this time, we are not going to be accepting any explicit NSFW artwork; however, NSFW fanfiction is still allowed to be nominated in other appropriate categories as long as it has been tagged appropriately. 

Our roulette category for this term is Best Antagonist Portrayal. This is defined as:  Stories that have a developed antagonist with motive and ambition. This does not necessarily mean a “villain” of the story, but any one person who causes conflict for the story. A large part of the story must surround this antagonist and the “heroes” overcoming the conflict. Keep in mind that characterization must also be considered depending on who the antagonist is. *Nomination must include the name of the character*

As a reminder, there is a Winner Ban in place.   This means that once any piece of artwork or fanfiction has won an award for a category, it automatically becomes ineligible and cannot be nominated again for that category. However, it can be nominated for other categories after three consecutive terms have passed (ie: one year since that piece won) as long as it fits within that definition. We do not have a rule against nominating an author/artist back into the category they won for in the past, as long as its a different piece of work that is being nominated.

In addition, we are also going to have a mobile-friendly Google Doc with all current nominations listed. This will be updated as frequently as possible so you can be aware of all the nominations that have currently been reviewed and notified. Hopefully this will help everyone select their own nominations. You can access this doc here.

If it was not mentioned above, chances are it hasn’t changed. Please be aware that the moderators always take suggestions regarding how the awards are run and category changes into consideration. What are The Guild Awards?

The Guild Awards is a place where amazing fanart and fanfiction in the Fairy Tail fandom is recognized, admired, and offered the chance to be nominated for an award! In addition, it also gives lesser known authors and artists an opportunity to have their work shared to a broader extent and receive the admiration and recognition they deserve!

How do I nominate?

You can send in a submission in one of our nomination formats. Your submission will not be posted and therefore remain anonymous, only to be seen by the moderators. You can send in multiple nominations in one submission, as long as the nomination formats are used for each nomination. Please select your fiction nominations carefully; spelling and grammar are important parts of being an author. Anything deemed unacceptable by the moderator team will be disqualified. Once nominations are complete, the mods will post the list of accepted nominations so you can read and view them before voting.

Can I nominate my own art/fiction?

You cannot nominate yourself. Doing so will result in the nomination not being accepted and a warning from the award moderators.

How long do I have to nominate?

You will have one month to send in your nominations. At the start of each period, the dates will be announced for when you can send in nominations.

Can I nominate anonymously?

No. This is due to the fact that no one is allowed to nominate their own work. Also, if a nomination is disqualified, the moderators will be reaching out to the person who nominated to allow them another opportunity to nominate.

How many fanfics/fanarts can I nominate?

Only one fiction or artwork can be chosen for each category per person. Meaning, a story or artwork can only be nominated by one person per category. Therefore, any secondary nominations will be disregarded and the duplicate nominator will be allowed to submit another story or artwork in its place.

What fanfiction/fanart is eligible to be nominated?

Can I nominate a fanart/fanfic that includes Original Characters or Crossover Characters?

Yes. For fanfics, 80% of the story needs to be focused on Fairy Tail characters and the development of the story. OC’s can be in a story, but the main focus needs to be on the Fairy Tail characters. Artwork can contain Non-FT characters where specified, but NO art may contain only OC’s or Non-FT characters (i.e. Artwork of “OC children” or “new wizard in the guild") are unacceptable without other genuine FT characters present in the piece)

I don’t want my fanart/fanfic nominated. Can I opt out? How?

Once a nomination has been approved by the moderators, the author/artist will be made aware of the nomination. Every author/artist retains the right to have their work removed from the nomination list and can opt out of future nominations.

How many terms are there?

There are two terms each year.

How long is each term?

Each term will be approximately 6 weeks long.

How long is the voting period?

The voting period will be 2 weeks long.

How do I vote?

Once the voting period begins, the moderators will post a link that will take you to the voting form. You must sign into Google in order to ensure each person is allowed one vote per category. Your votes and identity will remain anonymous.

When are the winners announced?

At the end of each term.

What happens if my fanfic/fanart wins? Do I need to do anything?

Please send this blog or one of the mods your preferred email address so we can send your award banner to you as soon as possible. Otherwise, kick back, relax, and enjoy the feeling of being recognized for your hard work!

I want to nominate an artist/author who has won in the past. Are they still eligible to be nominated?

Rules of Eligibility

Fiction and Fanart published on any free site can be submitted for an award provided they meet all of the requirements of the nominations. These sites include, but are not limited to: Tumblr, Fanfiction.net, AO3, Deviantart, etc. If the validity of the site is uncertain, reach out to a moderator.

Multi-chapter fics must have been updated within the past 2 years of the nomination period. Fanart must have been created within the past 2 years of the nomination period. One-shots and drabbles must have been posted within the past 2 yearsof the nomination term.

If the work was posted onto several different locations, the earliest date and time stamp will be taken and checked against the current nomination period of eligibility. Stamps posted within reviews can be used to date a work and/or its chapters. Also, authors and artists will be contacted to verify timeframes if needed.

You cannot nominate yourself. Doing so will result in the nomination not being accepted and a warning from the award moderators.

You are only allowed to nominate one fanfic/fanart per category.

Each piece of Art or Fanfiction is allowed to be nominated into a maximum of two different categories per term. The nominations will be taken on a first come first serve basis, meaning that once a piece of Art or Fanfiction is nominated into two categories, it will not be allowed to be nominated into other categories, and each subsequent nomination will be rejected.

Each author/artist is allowed to be nominated twice per term. Meaning, an author/artist can only have a max of two of their creations be nominated per term. So be sure to pick your favorites carefully!

The work must be in compliance with the definition of the category into which it was nominated.

Both adult and non-adult fanfiction and artwork are acceptable for nominations.

Because of the nature of child-grooming and other potentially abusive traits, nominations of work that include a ship that pairs an older person with anyone who is canonically underage will not be accepted.

*Please keep in mind that these are subject to change pending participation and suggestions.There are 30 categories in all - 15 for Fanfiction and 15 for Fanart. Please adhere to each categories’ definition when nominating. If a nomination does not fit within the definition, it will be disqualified.

- Best Action/Adventure Fiction

Action: “actual engagement in fighting an enemy; military or naval combat” Adventure: “participation in exciting undertakings, missions, or enterprises”

Does it make you sit on the edge of your seat? Do the characters battle adversity on a daily basis? Have the characters embarked on an epic quest?

- Best Alternate Universe/Reality Fiction

Anything that walks outside of Mashima’s vision. Anything that moves the characters outside of Mashima’s settings of Ishgar or the Alvarez Empire is AU/AR. Anything that changes the main characters beyond the basic core attributes Mashima granted them. Anything that includes a separate world and series of events.

- Best Canon Fiction

“The work of an author that have been accepted as authentic.“

If the story is set in Mashima’s universe and keeps the character origins, events, and motivations for character development that he created, then it is canon. This can also include anything that walks outside of Mashima’s original vision, but includes some key defining moments from the original canon universe. Anything that starts in the World created by Mashima and is taken to a different outcome.

- Best Angst Fiction

“Any situation or series of events having/giving a feeling of dread, anxiety, or anguish. An acute but nonspecific sense of anxiety or remorse.”

Stories that delve into the lives of the characters and pit them against odds that create angst.

- Best Dark Fiction

Anything that brings the reader into a world of pain and suffering through abuse of the characters at the hands of the antagonist or internal strife. If it includes graphic rape, murder, abuse (mental or emotional), a character that is suicidal or possessed of depressing thoughts/outlook on life that colors the majority of the story in glum tones it can be considered a dark!fic. Can also be aimed to cause an overwhelming and painful feeling due to something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; fear. Aimed to frighten or ‘gross out’ the reader.

- Best Drama Fiction

“Any situation or series of events having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking interest or results.“

Stories that delve into the lives of the characters and take the readers with them on a journey through the gambit of emotive expression.

- Best Humor/Parody Fiction

Did it make you laugh? Did it deliberately spoof the anime/manga?

- Best Oneshot Fiction

Any fiction that spans the length of one chapter. This can also be a fiction that contains more than one chapter provided that each one was posted at the same time and specifically deemed a “oneshot” by the author.

- Best Character Portrayal

A fic in which the author has created an in-depth characterization that, while it may diverge from Mashima’s vision for them, managed to attract the reader. *Nomination must include the specific character*

- Best Romance Fiction

“Ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people; love”

Stories that have developed a believable romance between two male/female characters. “Believable” is subjective, and it is up to those nominating/voting to draw their own line on that quantifier and vote their “Best”.

- Best LGBTQ+ Romance Fiction

Stories that have developed a believable romance between two or more characters. “Believable” is subjective, and it is up to those nominating/voting to draw their own line on that quantifier and vote their “Best”. This excludes male/female pairings.

- Best Antagonist Portrayal Fiction

Stories that have a developed antagonist with motive and ambition. This does not necessarily mean a “villain” of the story, but any one person who causes conflict for the story. - Best Completed Fiction

A story with multiple chapters that will no longer be updated and should be listed as ‘complete’.

- Best Duo/Pairing Artwork

Any art that features two characters; be it a comic doujinshi, painting, drawing, sketch, etc. If other characters are included in the picture it is only allowed as a background. The focus MUST be on the pairing. The art can reflect either a platonic relationship or a romantic relationship between the two characters.

- Best Group Depiction Artwork

This artwork must feature 3 or more of the Fairy Tail characters to be eligible.

- Best Manga Coloring

Any panel taken from Fairy Tail manga and colored by the artist.

- Best Redraw Artwork

Any art that is a redraw of a scene from the manga or anime.

- Best Overall Artwork

The quality, time, thought, and emotion that went into this piece is what would make it worthy of this nomination. Please take note: The general idea is not the “best of what’s nominated” or “best of show.” It is a category created specifically for art appreciation. That means that even if the characters are OOC, AU, or not drawn in anime style, etc., the ART itself is worthy of praise.

Holy shit, you guys.

It's only been a couple of months since I started posting Sorry, I Love You as my 100 Follower Celebration -- now look where we are!

I'm only a little ways off from 1,000 followers, so in honor of that I want to do something for you!

Please comment/reblog this post or shoot me a message with anything you'd like to see from me! I'll accept suggestions for the next couple of weeks and then go from there!

Reminders about my work:

I do NOT write pregnancy, non-con, incest, or underage. I also don't like single parent!character or single parent!reader. I don't have kids nor do I want any, so it's not something I like to read or write about.

I love angst with my whole heart, but I hate sad endings - whatever I write will 99% of the time have everything come out all right in the end.

I do not write real people - only fictional men. So far, I've written for Bucky Barnes, Poe Dameron, and Cassian Andor. I'm open to writing for other people, but I honestly don't watch a whole lot (but maybe I'll get some good recommendations?)

Please don't send me something from another author and say "like this but better" or "this but with a different character". It's not fair to me or them. Everyone has different writing styles, characterizations, and ideas on how they want their work to come to life. It's not okay to pit us against each other.

Depending on what all I receive, I may be posting another series, a one-shot, or multiple things if my brain decides to run with it!

I love writing fics based on songs the most, so if you guys have songs that bring out strong emotions send them my way! I'm open to all genres. My top categories on Spotify are K-pop, Rock, Pop, Show Tunes, Indie/Alternative, etc and so on, so basically anything is on the table.

Welcome to my blog where I document my descent into mental insanity. If you forced me to give this blog a label I'd say it's fandom-centric but I post a lot of other stuff too. I also want to post about my original characters + their story. I am an artist but I don't post it very often for a couple different reasons. I try to stay away from intra-community discourse or general negative topics because it just makes me upset, and this blog is meant to be a form of escapism from my problems not a reminder of them. But of course I don't entirely ignore those things, so watch out for that if you don't wanna see it either. There are people I don't want interacting with me but DNIs are pointless so I'll just block you if I don't like you, and you'll know if I don't like you. (More under cut)

On stuff I actually like, you can just check my highlighted tags to see what I'm most into at the moment but there are more that I don't post often so I feel like I should address all of them at once. In fictional media, I like Bioshock (current hyperfixation), Pokemon, Resident Evil but I don't really consider myself to be apart of the fandom because I don't play for the story or characters, Nexomon, Fran Bow, Outlast, Amnesia. On fandom stuff, I'll talk a lot about the thing I'm currently hyperfixated on or have a special interest in. I mostly make shitposts, but I sometimes make serious analyses on things. My brain for some reason is incapable of being hyperfixated on more than one thing at a time (I define hyperfixate by thinking about one thing 24/7 and making it about everything not *just* liking something a lot, I do have special interests for other things though) and it can happen suddenly, so I apologize if you followed me for one specific fandom and then I got hyperfixated on something else. I never stop being deranged about a piece of media though, it just lays dormant like a sleeper agent waiting to be awakened again.

Words: 513 | Pairing: Harry Potter x reader

You learned early on that there are two things in life you can never control—time and death, each just a part of growing older.

You reminisce on both as you stand at the kitchen counter, mindlessly slicing the cucumbers that had come from the very garden just outside the window.

Hagrid used to grow squash and pumpkins so big it could feed everyone in the Great Hall for months on end. You and Harry settled on cucumbers and more realistic crops, like carrots and cabbage for your family.

Time is an odd concept. One minute you were just children. You, Harry, Hermione and Ron, rushing down the hill with wind whipping through your hair to get to Hagrid’s hut just to drink tea and tell stories. The next, you’re all adults and he’s taken away. Surprisingly, leaving Fang and the hut to you and Harry in his absence from this Earth.

It was unexpected when it happened. Death is weird in that way. It never comes when you would expect it to, like when someone is in complete agony. But death is a part of growing up and you can’t have it without time. And time is always so fleeting.

It was the same when Sirius passed. You’d gotten to know him as Harry’s godfather over the years and he had done everything in his power to live up to that title. He always made sure Harry knew how much he loved him, as if he were merely an extension of James himself, and he loved you as well, and the kids that followed.

Grandpa Sirius, they’d learned to call him while tugging at the hem of his silk, black robe. He always wore that thing. They were only five when it happened. When like a crow flapping its wings in the deep midnight sky, Sirius was taken away from you all.

Of course, he had left everything to Harry and your family, but that didn’t take away the pain that had ripped through your hearts that took years to lessen, just a smidge.

Harry took up the job as Auror for the Ministry; the job had always been his dream since he was a child. With that came a paid leave each year, whenever he wanted, and he always chose Christmas. Christmas reminded him of his friends and your time at Hogwarts together.

During Christmas, you’d both pack up whatever you two needed to stay at the hut with Fang. It was for the kids, mainly. Over the first couple of years, they hated leaving behind their friends behind who couldn’t return home. So you two came to them, it was easier this way.

And over time, it allowed you to relive part of your own childhood. You got to rush down that hill again with the wind blowing in your hair. This time, still with Harry by your side, but also with your two children with smiles plastered on their faces. The two of them being little reminders of time passed and what it’s like to truly live and grow up.

Some thoughts on Nazi morale

That earlier reblog about bullies and leverage coupled with some recent news coverage has me in the mind to do a little public educating about the complete lack of a spine any given nazi out there has, the weird rituals and behaviors this leads to, and how some basic knowledge about all this leaves them a completely toothless threat in the vast majority of situations.

The really important thing to remember here, and I always have to remind people I’m not saying this to be mean, but because it is true, and genuinely important to understand, is that to become a nazi you first have to be just the most absolutely pathetic loser in the world. For real, it’s baked in. They have this whole mythology about their own innate superiority and right to rule over everyone else in the world based on some pure magical bloodline BS, but that’s inseparable from the fact that none of them actually have any sort of real power or success or happiness or friends. It’s not some class of nobility making stuff up about traits they have that justify their position. It’s just pathetic losers imagining all this secret untapped potential they have and then a whole second set of fictional beliefs about how everyone else in the world is keeping them back from realizing that potential by cheating at life somehow, all as a pretense for how they’re going to actively do every underhanded thing they can to get to their “rightful” place.

The two important takeaways here are that from the get-go the whole experience of being a nazi involves just this constant immersion in propaganda, self-delusion, and keeping up kayfabe that they have no barometer for what the reality of any situation is (our enemy is simultaneously weak and strong, etc.) and that there are in fact many very real reasons a given nazi’s life falls so short of the life they tell themselves they “should be” living which they’re never going to examine.

All in all, they just... don’t do well in reality. They don’t know anything, they have no social skills, they don’t really have the drive to actually do anything with their lives. They need hype and propaganda like a normal person needs oxygen. And while they’re never going to sit down and really self-reflect on that, they at least get that getting all hyped up and having people cheer them on is important for some reason or other. So here’s how that works out in terms of interactions with the real world.

Most of the time, a nazi just kinda sits around in their little isolation bubble where they don’t interact with anyone besides other nazis, and most of that is one-sided in the form of watching propaganda videos and following simple instructions. Every so often, one of them gets hyped up enough by the bootlicking the rest do to delude himself into thinking he has some sort of actual power to flex, and it’s time to plan an attack. “An attack” can take a lot of different forms. Might be a big organized effort to do something that gets national media coverage, might be terrorizing a single arbitrarily selected teenage girl. Might be a weird elaborate prank. This year for pride month for instance, some nazi had the bright idea to set up a website selling poison as fake HRT drugs and having followers hype it up with impersonations of trans people. The one important thing though is that unless the target is proven and tested as “safe” previously, it’s always going to take the form of something with basically zero risk of blowback or personal harm.

Letter-writing campaigns are a very popular choice. It’s pretty trivial to set up a burner e-mail account (or several thousand even) paste a form letter in, and hit send. Tracing it back to you would be a huge pain, and not something most people would even be inclined to do if you don’t use overtly violent language. This has been the absolute backbone of nazi attacks for the past decade or two at least. Other stuff gets more sensationalized, but if you look at the internal operations of something like Gamergate, 98% of it has always been form letters addresses and quota goals, trying to get various organizations to make public statements or fire people they’d arbitrarily chosen to target.

Now, this is the really important part. People often mistake nazi letter writing campaigns or similar activities for the real thing. When actual normal people organize a letter-writing campaign, it’s collective action. Can we show that enough people care strongly about this thing the company is doing that they reconsider if it’s worth it? If so, hey, mission accomplished, score one for direct feedback over flawed marketing research, everyone moves on with their lives. I feel like legitimate letter writing campaigns are pretty passe, with social media attention grabs having taken over the niche (which nazis will also imitate, but random burner accounts have less impact there). Still, people in positions to field these e-mails are largely still trained, I assume, with metrics like “if X number of e-mails come in griping about something, tell management, we’ll do what we need to to shut people up.”

Nazis however do not organize campaigns like this for the same reason, and capitulating is a tremendously bad idea.

Nazis do letter writing campaigns as a safe form of organizing an attack. It’s testing the waters. The entire purpose is to determine if and how the target will react to what perceived weight they are able to safely through around. If they go, “hey, video game company, apparently one of your employees once did a risque photo shoot, are you OK with values like that?” or “I don’t like seeing a bunch of queer pride stuff when I walk into a store” those aren’t customers you have to worry about losing if they don’t get what they want. That’s a predator in the woods staring you down to see if you’re going to hold your ground or if you’re going to try to run.

See, the whole “our enemies are both weak and powerful” thing completely destroys nazis’ risk assessment capabilities, so they’re relying on yours instead. If they try to scare you with a letter writing campaign about lost sales (or for that matter, if they’re trying to scare you with anonymous letters threatening you with violence), they aren’t making a demand. They’re asking if you are afraid of them. Because if you’re afraid of them, that means they can escalate to attacks that carry more personal risk to them, with the confidence that you aren’t going to fight back.

So what happens is you have the mistaken impression that you can just fire this one employee or pull this one marketing promotion and that’ll be the end of it, but now suddenly you have people showing up in your spaces acting violent. Not so violent it’s likely going to lead to a physical altercation (they’re still testing the waters and building up to that), they’re probably just going to shout slurs at your actual customers to scare’em off, or camp out like they own the place, maybe they smash up some products on shelves if they’re feeling really spicy. And if you don’t respond to THAT in a way that makes them think twice about messing with you, they’re going to keep on escalating, with threats to your employees and families, actual physical attacks, maybe some fires or bombs.

Also every time they take a bite out of someone and it doesn’t turn out to be more than they can chew, it’s just this huge rallying moment they use to do more recruiting and pushing for bolder attacks elsewhere, so they just become more of a threat to the whole world because you went and flinched.

On the upside, you can pretty much always deescalate things no matter how far they get just by demonstrating you aren’t afraid. You just have to do two things. Forcefully rebuke them, and loudly and publicly acknowledge that what you are doing is showing nazis that they can’t push you around. No euphemisms. If you don’t explicitly specify “nazis” or some more specific organization (Proud Boys, TERFs, whathaveyou) they’re going to internally spin that as you secretly being on their side. People constantly falter here and get stuck dealing with the same attacks forever as a result.

Also when I say “forcefully rebuke them” there’s a lot of ways you can do that, but you will need to step it up based on how far you’ve let things go. If you’re just course correcting because you realized you caved to a nazi letter writing statement, a big public retraction should have you covered. If they’re showing up on your doorstep in riot gear, you might need to get a little physical. You don’t have to like, walk up to whoever’s at the front of the crowd and see how many times his head bounces when it hits a concrete slab (although I’m sure that would be quite effective. You can literally throw a milkshake at one of these losers and he’ll start crying and run away like you threw a brick.

You may have understood it from my recent reblog of drawings related to the Disney live-action film The Little Mermaid: I actually went to see this film for which I had a lot of fears, reservations, a priori.. I'm not going to review the film here and now, but know that I enjoyed it. It will never be legal from the 1989 animated film - like all other live-action. However, one of the positive points of the film is the romantic relationship between Prince Eric and Princess Ariel.

Prince Eric is well embodied and that's why I wanted to make a ranking of the best Disney Princes in my opinion in live-action films.

I made this classification by judging whether the actor who played the male character was faithful to the original character, or, if he brought something new, it served the plot of the film and allowed to flesh out its character.

The question of the physical beauty was important: do we recognize the character, is he beautiful but is he reduced to his beauty?

I also took into account the chemistry with the heroine, because I chose films in which the Princess is at the center of the story (except perhaps for Aladdin (2019)): these couples are iconic, but was the chemistry between the Prince and the heroine similar, better or worse than in the original animated film?

Acting and presence were therefore my main points of judgment.

The ranking goes from worst to best.

7. Yoson An as Chen Hong Hui in the live-action Mulan (2020) 🐉. Li Shang is a good character in the anime, sexy, funny (not always, but especially in the sequel, Mulan II) and brave. But in the film with actors it is totally eclipsed and does not manage to really exist. The actor Yoson An is very handsome, but his character is forgettable and it's a shame because there was the potential to exploit the character's real or supposed bisexuality. I know Li Shang is considered bisexual by some and honestly I see him that way too. In the live action, they didn't want to make him a superior of Mulan so as not to show a woman falling in love with her boss... except that they don't even fall in love! Perhaps Chen Hong Hui will be better exploited in a sequel...

6. Dan Stevens as the Prince/Beast in the live action Beauty and the Beast (2017) 🥀. What a desappointment. I had discovered Dan Stevens in the excellent television series Downtown Abbey, and since then he has had various roles where he is not just the handsome man. Here, Dan Stevens only appears at the very beginning and at the very end, we can't get attached to him and he doesn't even have the first name Adam which is supposed to be that of the Prince in the animated film! Dan Stevens is very handsome, of course, but only in his blue wedding outfit, and the scene lasts 1 minute! No charisma, no chemistry with Belle... A real waste for a complex character who is also handsome and masculine.

5. Brenton Thwaites as Prince Philip in Maleficent (2014) 🐴. This role is the one that made Australian actor Brenton Thwaites known to the general public. In the film, he's cute and smiling and we feel a beginning of complicity with Aurore, but unfortunately it's too fast to create a real chemistry. In addition to the treatment of Philip in relation to the kiss of love - which makes me think that I would almost have preferred it not to appear in the film given its uselessness - I was not at all convinced by his all-too-common physical appearance. He reminded me more of Prince Florian from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). In short, the actor is good but for me it's not Prince Philip that I like. Besides, if you want to read an erotic fiction about Prince Philip that respects his personality more while making it gay with domination, I wrote one about him, even if there are surprises... 😜

4. Mena Massoud as Aladdin in Aladdin (2019) 🐒. Aladdin (1992) is an excellent film and its protagonist is iconic. He was one of the first heroes not to be defined by his couple, because even if his love affair with Jasmine is one of his motivations, Aladdin also exists for himself. Mena Massoud kept this humor from the character and brought a seductive side enhanced by his beauty. Yet, the actor lacked facial expressions bringing emotion to his journey. Live-action Aladdin has a good personality (there are even some never-before-seen moments like his bonding with the Genie as well as dancing with Jasmine at the ball). In fact, the problem is that the actor Mena Massoud is crushed by the charisma of Will Smith, the beauty if the actor who played Jafar, as well as the performance of Naomi Scott who fleshed out the character of Princess Jasmine (especially with Talking). Mena Massoud was handsome as Aladdin, but it's partly thanks to his costumes which were amazing (especially his wedding outift, which is exactly how i imagine an Arabian Prince 😍). I am inspired by this Aladdin to write a story about him but i would like him to be gay, like maybe falling in love with Prince Anders (the white Russian prince in the movie). I worship Prince Anders (so handsome and he wears furs 🥵), so if you have suggestions about him, don't hesitate. If there's going to be a sequel to this live-action, I really hope it's an original story and not a pasted copy of The Return of Jafar. Otherwise, I wrote an Aladdin story in two parts. For those who haven't read it, I recommend it because I tried to make it funny, original, romantic and erotic. 😁

3. Harris Dickinson as Prince Philip in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019). ⚔️ Released the year of the 50th anniversary of the animated film Sleeping Beauty (1959) - my favorite Disney film - this live action is among my favorites. However, I must admit that Prince Philip, if he is more handsome and more active in this film, still does not have this funny and heroic, combative and romantic personality which made me love him. He is handsome, but not so handsome either. I have nothing against actor Harris Dickinson who inspired me more when he played in Kingsman - First Mission, but I find that he does not have enough personality (despite a few funny moments) to be interesting. If I put this Philip so high in the ranking, it's for his relationship with Aurora, which is more developed. Prince Philip and Princess Aurora are very cute, touching. I am currently working on a story about this version of Prince Philip, which will be very unexpected. I can't say much now!

2. Richard Madden as Kit in Cinderella (2015) 💎. To start, I'm going to end the suspense directly by saying that Kit is embodied by the most beautiful actor on this list. Richard Madden was already playing one of my favorite characters in Game Of Thrones. Since then, this very handsome gay man has become a sex symbol and a very talented actor who has played in various films where he is always sexy but also charismatic and interesting. In Cinderella (2015), Richard Madden deepens the character of Prince Henry in Cinderella (1950) and its sequels. This discreet character is a pretext and a trophy for Cinderella, he does not have his own existence and personality before the film Cinderella - A Twist in Time (the best Disney animated sequel). Kit is much more enterprising, has a political role, decision-making power. His couple with Ella is better because they learns to know and love each other. Besides, Richard Madden is gorgeous, with bright blue eyes and a dazzling smile, and wears uniforms that suit him very well: beauty is not what defines a prince charming (Disney), but it would be a lie to say that this does not contribute to his assessment. I love that Kit alternates between funny and emotional moments (especially with his dad). I leave you the link of my story inspired by Henry in Cinderella (1950) which is in my opinion one of my best.

Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid (2023) 🌊. This film will have aroused many debates on which I will not go back. What's too bad is that all the negative reviews have overshadowed the positives, like the fact that Prince Eric is really good. Like many people, I was concerned to learn that director Rob Marshall considered the 1989 animated film's Prince Eric lacking in personality (as if to denigrate the basic character in order to praise the live-action's version of Eric). The worst is that the promotion of the film was built on the fact that the notion of consent would be included in the song Kiss the girl, when this was not the case! Still, Prince Eric is a character where I feared the film would change his ending, with him not ending with Ariel. However, this is one of the most beautiful Disney couples in my opinion, very cute (in both animated and live-action versions). Jonah Hauer-King brings Prince Eric a (questionable but coherent) past, and it is shown that he has come to be loved by his people for his talents and skills, that he is a simple man with dreams and values. Admittedly, Eric is courageous, but he is also cultured and funny, protective and dreams of emancipation like Ariel. If Hailey Bailey was excellent in Ariel, it must be said that she forms an awesome couple with Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. The chemistry between them is undeniable, they have plenty of moments of complicity. If there is a sequel I hope Prince Eric will have a better turnout than in The Little Mermaid 2 - Return to the Sea (2000). Jonah Hauer-King didn't seem pretty enough to me to be Prince Eric at first, because Eric is the second most handsome Disney prince after Philip. Above all, I love Eric for his personality and character, his funny facial expressions and also his concern for others (his dog, his butler, Ariel). In this film, he is more than a Prince, he is a hero and we feel the love between Ariel and him. And i was wrong : he is very handsome as Eric (so tall, great smile, nice hairs). Vous l'avez peut-être compris à mes récents reblogs de dessins liés au film live-action Disney La Petite Sirène : jai effectivement été voir ce film pour lequel j'avais beaucoup de craintes, de réserves, d'à-priori... Je ne vais pas faire une critique du film ici et maintenant, mais sachez que j'ai bien aimé. Il ne sera jamais légal du film d'animation de 1989 - comme tous les autres live-action.

Néanmoins l'un des points positifs du film est la relation amoureuse entre le Prince Eric et la Princesse Ariel. Le Prince Eric est bien incarné, et c'est pourquoi j'ai voulu faire un classement des meilleurs Princes Disney selon moi dans les films live-action.

J'ai fait ce classement en jugeant si l'acteur ayant incarné le personnage masculin était fidèle au personnage d'origine, ou, s'il apportait quelque chose de nouveau, cela servait à l'intrigue du film et permettait d'étoffer son personnage.

La question du physique était importante : est-ce-que l'on reconnaît le personnage, est-il beau mais est-il réduit à sa beauté ?

J'ai aussi pris en compte l'alchimie avec l'héroïne, car j'ai choisi des films dans lesquels la Princesse est au centre de l'histoire (sauf peut-être pour Aladdin (2019)) : ces couples sont iconiques, mais l'alchimie entre le Prince et l'héroïne était-elle semblable, meilleure ou pire que dans le film d'animation d'origine ?

Le jeu d'acteur et la présence étaient donc mes principaux points de critère de jugement.

Le classement va du pire jusqu'au meilleur.

7. Yoson An dans le rôle de Chen Hong Hui dans le live-action Mulan (2020) 🐉. Li Shang est un bon personnage dans le film d'animation, sexy, drôle (pas toujours, mais surtout dans la suite, Mulan II) et courageux. Or dans le film avec acteurs il est totalement éclipsé et ne parvient pas à exister réellement. L'acteur Yoson An est très beau, mais son personnage est oubliable et c'est dommage car il y avait le potentiel d'exploiter la bisexualité réelle ou supposée du personnage. Je sais que Li Shang est considéré comme bisexuel par certains et honnêtement je le vois aussi comme cela. Dans le live action, ils ont voulu ne pas en faire un supérieur hiérarchique de Mulan pour ne pas montrer une femme tomber amoureuse de son patron.... sauf qu'ils ne tombent même pas amoureux ! Peut-être Chen Hong Hui sera mieux exploité dans une suite (il semblerait qu'il y en ait une....).

6. Dan Stevens dans le rôle du Prince / la Bête dans le live action La Belle et la Bête (2017) 🥀. Quelle déception. J'avais découvert Dan Stevens dans l'excellente série télévisée Downtown Abbey, et depuis il a eu des rôles variés où il n'est pas juste le bel homme. Ici, il n'apparaît qu'au tout début et à la toute fin, on ne peut pas s'attacher à lui et il n'a même pas le prénom Adam qui est censé être celui du Prince dans le film d'animation ! Il est très beau, bien sûr, mais seulement dans sa tenue bleue de marié, et la scène dure 1 minute ! Aucun charisme, pas d'alchimie avec Belle... Un vrai gâchis pour un personnage complexe qui en plus est beau et masculin.

5. Brenton Thwaites en Prince Philip dans Maléfique (2014) 🐴. Ce rôle est celui qui a fait connaître l'acteur australien Brenton Thwaites au grand public. Dans le film, il est mignon et souriant et on sent un début de complicité avec Aurore, mais malheureusement c'est trop rapide pour créer une vraie alchimie. En plus du traitement de Philippe par rapport au baiser d'amour - ce qui me fait penser que j'aurais presque préféré qu'il n'apparaisse pas dans le film étant donné son inutilité - je n'ai pas du tout été convaincu par son apparence physique bien trop commune. Il me faisait davantage penser au Prince Florian de Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains (1937). Bref, l'acteur est bon mais pour moi ce n'est pas le Prince Philippe que j'aime. D'ailleurs, si vous voulez lire une fiction érotique sur le Prince Philippe qui respecte davantage sa personnalité tout en rendant cela gay avec de la domination, j'en ai écrit une sur lui, même s'il y a des surprises... 😜

Mena Messoud a gardé du personnage cet humour et a apporté un côté séducteur avantagé par sa beauté. Pourtant, l'acteur manquait d'expressions faciales apportant de l'émotion à son parcours. Aladdin du live-action a une bonne personnalité (il y a même des moments inédits comme son rapprochement avec le Génie ainsi que la danse avec Jasmine au bal). En fait, le problème est que l'acteur est écrasé par le charisme de Will Smith, la beauté de l'acteur de Jafar, ainsi que la performance de Naomi Scott qui a étoffé le personnage de la Princesse Jasmine (surtout avec Parler). Mena Massoud est très beau, mais c'est en partie grâce à ses sublimes costumes (notamment sa tenue de mariage 😍, qui est la façon dont j'imagine un Prince arabe). J'aimerais bien écrire une histoire gay sur ce Aladdin, mais j'aime aussi énormément le Prince Anders (le Prince russe dans ce film) qui est très beau et porte de la fourrure 🥵. Si vous avez des suggestions de scénario avec lui / eux, n'hésitez pas. S'il doit y avoir une suite à ce live-action, j'espère vraiment que ce sera une histoire originale et non un copié collé du film Le Retour de Jafar. Sinon, j'ai écrit une histoire sur Aladdin en deux parties. Pour ceux qui ne l'ont pas lu, je vous la conseille car j'ai essayé de rendre cela drôle, inédit, romantique et érotique. 🥵

3. Harris Dickinson en Prince Philippe dans Maléfique - Le Pouvoir du Mal (2019) ⚔️. Sorti l'année des 50 ans du film d'animation La Belle Au Bois Dormant (1959) - mon film Disney préféré - ce live action est parmi mes préférés. Pourtant, je dois avouer que le Prince Philippe, s'il est plus beau et plus actif dans ce film, n'a toujours pas cette personnalité drôle et héroïque, combative et romantique qui m'a fait l'aimer. Il est beau, mais pas non plus si beau que cela. Je n'ai rien contre l'acteur Harris Dickinson qui m'a davantage inspiré lorsqu'il a joué dans Kingsman - First Mission, mais je trouve qu'il n'a pas assez de personnalité (malgré quelques moments marrants) pour être intéressant. Si je le met aussi haut dans le classement c'est pour son couple avec Aurore qui est davantage développé. Le Prince Philippe et la Princesse Aurore sont très mignons, drôles et touchants. Je travaille actuellement sur une fiction inspirée par cette version du Prince Philippe,.... avec quelques surprises !

2. Richard Madden en Kit dans Cendrillon (2015) 💎. Pour commencer, je vais mettre fin au suspens directement en disant que Kit est incarné par le plus beau des acteurs de cette liste. Richard Madden jouait déjà l'un de mes personnages préférés dans Game Of Thrones. Depuis ce très bel homme gay est devenu un sex-symbol et un acteur très talentueux qui a joué dans des films variés où il est toujours sexy mais aussi charismatique et intéressant. Dans Cendrillon, Richard Madden approfondit le personnage du Prince Henri dans Cendrillon (1950) et ses suites. Ce personnage discret est un prétexte et un trophée pour Cendrillon, il n'a pas d'existence propre et de personnalité avant le film Le Sortilège de Cendrillon (la meilleure suite animée Disney). Kit est beaucoup plus entreprenant, a un rôle politique, un pouvoir décisionnaire. Son couple avec Ella est bien plus attendrissant, ils apprennent à se connaître et à s'aimer. En plus Richard Madden est sublime, avec des yeux bleus brillants et un sourire éclatant, et porte des uniformes qui lui vont très bien : la beauté n'est pas ce qui définit un prince charmant (Disney), mais ce serait mentir de dire que cela ne participe pas à son appréciation. J'aime que Kit alterne entre les moments drôles et émouvants (surtout avec son père). Je vous laisse le lien de mon histoire inspirée par Henri dans Cendrillon (1950) qui est selon moi une de mes meilleures.

Jonah Hauer-King en Prince Éric dans La Petite Sirène (2023) 🌊. Ce film aura suscité bien des débats sur lesquels je ne reviendrais pas. Ce qui est dommage c'est que toutes les critiques négatives ont éclipsés les points positifs, comme le fait que le Prince Eric est vraiment réussi. Comme beaucoup de personnes, j'ai été inquiet d'apprendre que le réalisateur Rob Marshall considérait que le Prince Eric du film d'animation de 1989 manquait de personnalité (comme s'il fallait dénigrer le personnage de base pour vanter celui du live-action). Le pire, c'est que la promotion du film s'est bati sur le fait que la notion de consentement serait inclue dans la chanson Embrasse la, alors que cela n'a pas été le cas ! Malgré tout, le Prince Eric est un personnage où je craignais que le film change sa fin, et qu'il ne finisse pas avec Ariel. Or, c'est l'un des plus beaux couples Disney selon moi, très mignon. Jonah Hauer-King apporte au Prince Éric un passé (discutable mais cohérent), et l'on montre qu'il a réussi à être aimé de son peuple pour ses talents et compétences, qu'il est un homme simple qui a des rêves et des valeurs. Certes il est courageux mais en plus il est cultivé et drôle, protecteur et rêve d'émancipation à l'instar de Ariel. Si Hailey Bailey était excellente en Ariel, il faut dire qu'elle forme un couple génial avec Jonah Hauer-King en Prince Éric. L'alchimie entre eux est indéniable, ils ont pleins de moments de complicité. S'il y a une suite j'espère que le Prince Eric aura une meilleure participation que dans le film La Petite Sirène 2 - Retour à l'Océan (2000). Jonah Hauer-King ne me semblait d'abord pas assez joli pour être le Prince Eric car Eric est le deuxième plus beau prince Disney après Philippe. Surtout, j'aime Éric pour sa personnalité et son caractère, ses expressions faciales drôles et aussi son souci des autres (son chien, son majordome, Ariel). Dans ce film, il est plus qu'un Prince, il est un héros et on sent l'amour entre Ariel et lui. Et j'ai eu tort : Jonah Hauer-King est très beau, il est immense et musclé, avec un sourire charmant et des cheveux soyeux. As someone who was very recently having the same feelings about writing and fitting in on here as you are, I very much understand how you feel. It's extremely painful and makes you question everything, but you really, truly, genuinely are a wonderful writer. I'm glad to hear you don't plan to stop writing, but I hope you don’t leave because you bring value to this fandom and to readers. You could write for any character and someone could emotionally connect to it and that's a very powerful gift. I got a message today from someone telling me my fics got them through really hard times, and hon, I'm gonna tell you the same, because it's true. I felt like I should quit writing because there was a lull in my popularity for a couple fics and it damaged my self confidence, but reading your fics reminded me of why I love to write, which is to connect with people. I read "to do the right thing" and was blown away (though you might not have noticed this name. I have separated blogs for everything). So much so that I was like, oh right, this is why I love to write--to feel things like this and hope others feel the same when reading my work. It's hard to remember on here, where we live by notes and comments and reblogs, that sometimes making an impact on one person is a big deal and it matters. You happen to positively impact a large group of people with every story you post.

I feel like I can confidently say that people here support whatever choices you will make moving forward, but I also feel I can confidently say that we would miss you and your writing.

Sorry this is so long. But I get it, hon. Just keep on keeping on. 🩵 I hope you feel better soon.

I legitimately…am crying. Like I always say “oh I’m crying” no but actual tears are coming down right now and I’m so glad because I think for one, I just need a good cry and get out all these feelings I’ve been harboring and two, I have gotten kind words over the last couple of days that have all had such an impact on me and I think this was the last one, in addition to the others that finally felt like a good slap in the face wake up call to snap me out of whatever emotional dumpsterfire state I’ve been in.

I’ve lost quite a few followers between yesterday and today (I get it, emotional pity party Vee who does nothing but bitch and complain is not a fun person to follow so no hard feelings) but it DID make me wonder if I’m truly being nuts about it all and whether my mental health is just so far down the garbage chute that I don’t see how ridiculous I’m being over nothing? But with people reaching out to tell me they know how it feels…I feel a little less crazy, that’s for sure. I feel disappointed in myself for letting myself fall into that damn trap of caring so much about notes. Especially because when I first started out, I didn’t care about it. I was just having fun and sharing my ideas. The human part of me adores the validation and it makes me feel good and that’s okay, but to let it get to the point where I am letting a number determine whether my stuff is good it or not? That’s not okay. I wouldn’t want anyone, especially fellow writers who I think are so talented, to do this.

I feel ashamed tbh. Because you’re right, touching someone with your writing and connecting to people, that’s what is important. I loved getting replies and messages about someone telling me they can put themselves right in my story, that they felt like they were there. I loved that people told me they could feel my character’s emotions. I hold my characters so close to me and I should not stop loving them. They’re mine, and there are people out there who love them too. It shouldn’t matter if it’s 1 or 1000. If one person adores my sweet lil Peach from ASH, than I appreciate that one person for loving a fictional character I created.

I have a few people who have been so supportive of me and reminding me how much they love my writing and they’re more important to me than all the fucking notes and popularity on this site. And to any of these few people, I’m so sorry for being such a sad train wreck of a person. I hope you know how much I appreciate you sticking around and being so encouraging while I have been in my feels. I didn’t mean to be so ungrateful to you. I’m going to keep on writing and posting for myself, but for YOU as well. Because you’ve been here for me and you support me and that means more to me than anything.

Thank you so much for this message. It truly was the last one that snapped me out of it.

Just a little reminder that I've slowed down production as far as writing goes. I'm still writing daily. Sometimes it's a sentence, sometimes it's 3k words, but I'm trying to be kinder to myself and remember that it's a hobby, not a job. I also really want to start my novel and stop pressuring myself to finish fics FIRST so I'm doing that.
