notes: this is the third kurama related request i've gotten so far, very interesting! this will be pretty short, a drabble basically, reader is gender neutral.

tw: none, just the tiniest bit of angst however.

today was the day kurama gets to see his s/o for the first time in months, he had been gone for quite a while, some pretty important business, and he deeply misses them, making his first step to see them.

he was showing up unannounced, wanting to at least apologize to them for not letting them know what happened to him, standing at the door with a single rose in his hand, bringing up the courage to knock on the door.

knock knock.

but there was no answer.

no immediate answer.

"who's there?" a familiar voice calls out from behind the door.

"it's me, kurama."

once the name was heard the door swiftly opens and arms tightly hug around him, he feels them shaking, sniffling, and the feeling of his top shoulder being wet.

they were crying... i was expecting that.

they pull away, looking into his eyes with their bloodshot, tear sicken ones, before they curl into a glare.

"where have you been..?" they say calmly, eerily calm.

kurama was expecting this reaction, and admittedly he deserved it, he had been gone for so long without so much as a warning.

"it's... a bit complicated to explain, but, i will anyways for your sake."

"so, that's what happened, huh?"

a spirit world, demons... so much had happened in the past month, still confuses them to some degree, especially since they had been out of the country for the past couple of weeks to go see family.

the two of them had talked about the trip they had, their own individual experiences, and some other miscellaneous things.

the rose kurama had gave them had sat in a vase with all the other roses he had given them throughout the past few months, there was a lot to count, and they never withered, despite them taking care of it daily as a reminder to him.

"oh, i forgot to show you something!" his partner gets out of the bed the two were sitting on and runs into their closet to take out a small brown box which had a lock on it. "wait a minute, hold on i just need to find the key.." placing the box on the bed they scatter around the room, making a mess of everything, throwing clothes, shoes, whatever you may think of.

kurama decides to get up from the bed and look into the drawer next to it, opening it to see.. a key.

"here it is.." he pulls out the key to show it to them, they stare at the key to see if it's the right one.

"yeah, that's it!" walking over to kurama to give him a kiss on the cheek, unaware that he basically froze.

he had missed their kisses so much, the touch of their hands, the look in their eyes... their presence all by itself.. and now he's here.

"uh.. kurama? you there?" they waved their hand in his face to get his attention but.. it seems as if he had.. stopped working.

kurama blinks, looks as if he came back to earth.

"oh.. sorry.. i.." he nervously stutters out, a rosy pink blush scattering his face, he couldn't even look at them without feeling like he'll black out.. he just can't believe that they're his.

his and only his.
