The other thing that gets me about Dylan Mulvaneys song is that if you listen to the lyrics of the ENTIRE song (not just that bit that went viral) it's very clearly a song about women supporting women and thanking the women who helped her during transition, and it's really fucking sad that the response from most cis women I've seen has been to *retract any support they gave her*.

She says at the beginning of the song "calling all women, girls like me gotta learn the basics", she's saying "hey this is what I wanna look and be like, can I get help from my fellow girls" and apparently that's the worst most evil thing anyone has ever done.

Thinking about Jason Grace who has never had a decent experience with romance.

His first contact with it was with his best friend and fellow praetor, one forged by Rome’s expectations but not his will.

His second experience - also the last - was a fake girlfriend given upon his manipulative step-mother’s ideas, who later turned out to be into girls. It also created a rift between him and his previous almost-girlfriend, who above all was his best friend.

And the only time he got to meet a god of love - the supposedly cute and sweet Cupid - was only to watch, in helplessness, the god brutally threaten his friend to come out as a payment for helping them save their world.

I've seen some people complain that by having so many powerful demigods in hoo, then it kinda defeats the whole point of pjo making such a big deal of children of the big three existing and the pact and what not, and I see you, but I raise you, that was the damn point. Hoo isn't saying that anyone can be as powerful as big three kids, it's making a point that these specific demigods are powerful as hell, and they're the exception, not the rule.

Like, let's think about it here- we've got Percy, Jason, and hazel who are all powerful we know obviously bc of their big three parentage, but what about the others? all athena kids are smart, but annabeth is regarded as a scary brilliant strategist, and is the first child of athena ever to find the athena parthenos and bring it back alive. clarisse is incredibly scary and talented in her own right, but she's not frank. even if we don't take into account his shapeshifting (which you absolutely should, it plays into my exception, not the rule argument), he has a command over war and strategy she simply doesn't. all hephestus kids are talented inventors, but it's never indicated they can invent shit on the fly as quickly or as skillfully as leo does. he's had the idea and basic blueprints for the argo 2 since he was a child and he's the only hephestus kid alive to have pyrokinesis (and the last guy who had the ability centuries ago completely fucked it up). drew has charmspeak, sure, but piper's is so much more powerful it's insane. here's your friendly reminder she charmspoke the completely metal festus to life while she was freezing her ass off and panicking.

Every kid of the big three is gonna be powerful; that's a given. but a powerful child of hephestus or mars or athena or aphrodite? to this kind of degree? and them joining together? it's unexpected, it's the exception, and is the product of a centuries old prophecy.

They may not be as big readers as the Athena kids, but they do have each their own favourite couple in history and media that they are ride or die for. They can even go toe-toe with Athena's kids in debates over these couples, arguing about their favourite relationship's historical legitimacy/basis or canon. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

Aphrodite kids aren't known for enthusiastically participating in training or camp activities, but like water is to Percy, love is a powerful adrenaline rush. When they're fighting for someone or something they truly love, they can become incredible warriors and protectors even if its only for a short time. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

Despite their reputation of being quite vain, children of Aphrodite can be intensely devoted and self sacrificing when it comes to those they care about and matters of love. Weddings or engagements where part of the couple is a child of Aphrodite is massive affair. The whole cabin gets together for it, no matter where they live at this point in their lives. They also perform some really old ancient rites to honour Aphrodite and to ask her to bless their sibling in their relationships future. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

When children of Aphrodite go to battle, they wear something of their lover. Sometimes something simple like a picture of them, favourite jewellery of their lover's, their lover's lucky underwear, a hair piece from their love ect, or it can be as something as intimate as a lock of hair or even an ash diamond (if they've passed away). If they don't have a lover, then they wear something symbolic of their mother for her protection. Most popularly this is a dove feather or pearl jewellery, even both at once.

Me: "Ok but I'm not really interested in doing any of those things or being that person"

Society: "Tough, you're a girl, you have to be interested in those things and this is the only way a woman is allowed to be."

big fan of the idea of hephaestus simply watching aphrodite live in the moment and he’s just so in love — textbook definition of “smitten” — and it’s the reason he’s speechless, in awe of her, and when she gives him a little smile, right then and there he creates something beautiful because he wants needs to capture this moment somehow in an expression he understands best. Without even looking, in one sitting, he creates an item that could sell for thousands of dollars yet how could he ever put a price on something inspired by his wife’s very existence…? So he stores it away with the dozens of other items he made just like this one…. Maybe one day he’ll tell show her how much she inspires the part of him he holds most dear….

or the idea of her being in some high-end fashion show and even though he hates big crowds, he shows up to support her with his knowledge about clothing limited to the fact that it helps avoid burns and cuts and scrapes to a certain extent. And he has the biggest, that’s my wife! energy in the room and even tells whoever’s nearby that very fact, and they honestly don’t care about what the homely-looking man with a limp has to say — but it doesn’t matter to him because there she is and she’s doing so well just modeling an outfit, and he catches himself grinning like an idiot…perhaps the first time in his life….definitely only because of her…and she somehow spots him in the sea of people and she smiles back and the rest of the show is a blur and he doesn’t realize it’s over until he has to remind himself to relax the grip on the bouquet of flowers he brought to give her….

If Rick changed Medusa for the Roman Myth in the TV show to be more 'sensitive', then he better do the same with calling out Calypso and what SHE did to Odysseus as well.

I still like PJO even though some of the changes Riordan did aren't great and make me sad but I feel like I can still enjoy it to a degree. But I am genuinely stumped and a bit disturbed by how he decided to make Calypso a sweet, sad, lonely "good person". Sure, she's sad and lonely but she is NOT sweet. To me, she reads off as cruel to Leo but even then, why tf does he write her as a good person or someone we should be rooting for?

Her only big myth is basically in the Odyssey where she imprisons and rapes Odysseus for 7 years. In mythology, others do that too but these immortals ALSO have other myths that define them. This one myth is practically her ONLY ONE!

I'm so glad I got over myself and just accepted that I'm a multi shipper. When I first joined fandom spaces I clung to only shipping one character in one specific ship and nothing else. (I was fine with other people multi shipping but me personally had to pick one for whatever reason cause my brains weird).

But now? Fuck it. I love Percabeth and they're my favorite couple to write for- However, Jercy with wingman Annabeth? Absolutely. Poly Amorous Annabeth dating both Percy and Piper because she has two hands? Definitely. Pipabeth with besties Percy and Annabeth?Absofuckinglutley. Pipabeth and Jercy in the same universe? Yes yes yes.

Do I think Percy was in love with Annabeth from a young age? Yes I do, but he was also head over heels for both Charles and Luke. In the same vain- Annabeth had a crush on Percy since she was twelve but that didn't stop Silena from being her bisexual awakening.

I absolutely adore AroAce Leo Valdez, however I will always ship Valgrace, especially when it involves Piper meddling to set them up. I love (fanon) Solangelo but Valdangelo is so heartbreakingly wholesome I can't help but love it. And don't even get me started on Jasico- more often than not I imagine them as siblings however I do love their romantic ship too. Nico and Leo are great with a lot of characters but I also like them just being single besties who gossip about all the relationship drama while they play video games.

Clarrise x Chris and Silena x Charles are my favorite canon side couples but I love Ruegard so fuck it, they're all polyamorous and dating each other. Clarrise and Charles spoil the fuck out of Chris and Silena and Chris and Silena treat Charles and Clarrise with the love they deserve.

Fandom gives me a menu of characters and I will mix and match how I please. And that's enough of my rambling, goodbye.
