You hold back the laugh in your chest and try your best to keep a relaxed face. But you didn't have great control when it came to stuff like this and realized quickly in life that you probably wouldn't make it as an actor. However the director still thought it was fine to put you in as an extra with speaking parts.

He said your acting didn't need to be believable or good just that you need to say the lines. That was objectively true--it was porn--but if you cracked a smile people would definitely notice.

You were playing the oblivious person having a conversation with your "best friend". And said friend was getting railed in the shower by your boyfriend who was being played by Bruno. Why you were trying to have a serious conversation while she was showering was completely lost on you. But it didn't have to make sense.

You stare at yourself in the mirror above the sinks. The way the restroom was set up had the shower and toilet in its own separate, little room. So it wasn't completely easy to tell what your friend was really up to.

"My boyfriend's been acting strange recently," you say. You try to sound down but come off more inconvenienced.

"What do you mean?"

The door to the shower room was open so you could hear your friend well even with the water running. So of course you notice her voice wobble at the end. You can't tell if she added that intentionally or if Bruno found a particularly good spot. You ignore it though since you weren't actually supposed to notice anything just yet.

"He doesn't seem very interested in me anymore? Like he doesn't want to have sex with me. And it's kinda weird since he always wanted to before!"

"Ah--!"

“Huh?” you reply, genuinely confused. That wasn't on the script but you knew pretending you didn't hear it would be worse.

“Ahhh, maybe something has been upsetting him recently?” she suggests.

"Oh...perhaps you're right." You move to pull out your phone from your pocket. "It's been bothering me so much so maybe I'll call him right now--"

"D-Don't stop!"

You turn towards the shower room. "What? Are you good? You sound like you're exercising in there."

That sounded so real and it has you wondering what the hell Bruno's doing.

You pause for a split second too long and almost forget to say your next line. "Uh so you...don't want me to call him?"

"No, don't call him. You should s-speak to him in person!" Your friend seemed to finally get her voice under control.

"Oh! That's definitely a better idea." You put your phone away. "I think I'll head home now actually and wait for him. Thanks for hearing me out!"

With that you exit the bathroom set and breathe a sigh of relief. Now all that was left to do was wait for filming to finish and then you could head home for the day.

You join the crew and from where you're standing you can easily watch the two actors go. It was actually kind of nice to watch.

While you stare, Bruno seems to glance in your direction. You raise a brow, wondering why he looked over here and turn around to look behind you, but there's nothing of note there.

"You're not going home yet?"

You turn in your chair. Bruno stands at the door watching you with crossed arms.

"Nope. I'm finishing this up for one of the editors--they weren't feeling well--and I don't want to take it home with me."

"I see," he says. He then walks in the room and pulls up a chair next to you which catches you off guard.

"You don't have to stick around! I'm probably gonna be here up until midnight."

"That's okay. I don't want to leave you here all alone. What are you editing anyways?"

"Well I'm working on one of your porns. The one you did last week."

Bruno leans forward, getting in your space, to see the screen.

"Ah, the one with Leone! That one was really nice, but I always enjoy working with him."

"Yea the two of you have great chemistry."

Abbacchio was a grumpy bitch but somehow the two of them got along pretty well. Bruno seemed to get along with most people easily though.

The man places his elbow on the desk and rests his head in his hand.

"So did you like it?"

"Like what?" you ask.

"The film."

The look in his eye was one that was quite familiar but why it was there, you weren't completely sure.

Bruno smiles and you immediately feel yourself getting hot.

"What did you like about it? If you don't mind me asking."

A small smile comes to your lips. "W-Well you're in it, that's one. I like when I can tell the actors are genuinely having a good time. And both you and Abbacchio are attractive. Your m-moans were pretty nice too."

You turn your attention back to the screen. As much as you'd like entertaining Bruno you still need to get this done.

"You seem less reserved in person compared to when we message on Twitter."

"I know that's why I find it interesting." The man pauses for a moment before talking again. "Remember when you said you watched some of my work?"

You nod.

"For fun?"

You raise a brow but still answer. "I like to judge the camerawork, but sometimes I do for fun.”

Even though you were kind of over porn, there were the few times that you used it to help get off. And when you did you usually found yourself seeking out media involving Bruno.

Bruno lets out a laugh. "That's good to know."

You purse your lips at his smug expression. The man is definitely trying to mess with you. Of course you didn't mind some teasing but being the only one receiving wasn't your forte. Also you didn't want to be here all night.

"I need to finish this. You can stay but you can't keep distracting me like that..."

"Of course."

You look at him warily before getting back to work. Even though Bruno didn't really seem it, he definitely had a mischievous side.

The man watches the screen (and sometimes you), keeping you company with more innocent chat while you work. It actually makes time pass by faster.

You end up finishing earlier than you expect and thank Bruno for staying with you. The man offers to drive you home but you decline and take the bus instead.

The moment you're in your bedroom, your body hits the bed--no night routine or clothes change. You'd just have to deal with it in the morning.

It barely feels like you've been asleep before you hear your alarm go off. You grab your phone and shut it off.

Sighing, you risk closing your eyes for a few more seconds. You weren't ready to go back to work but after a minute you force yourself out of bed and stretch.

You head straight to the bathroom to start your day by brushing your teeth and multi-task with your phone--checking your work email and replying to any missed messages that you didn't get to last night. Other than that your morning starts off pretty uneventful.

While you're eating breakfast you get a message on Twitter.

Bruno: Morning.

You reply with your own good morning. The message surprised you but it was a pleasant one.

Bruno: How are you feeling? Not too tired I hope.

You: i'm okay now that i've had some coffee

You: how's your day going so far?

Bruno: The usual. I'm walking over to a restaurant nearby to get something to eat.

You: ooo sounds yummy 😋

You: what ya gonna get?

Bruno: I'm not sure yet but I'll send a picture when I do.

you: noo i'll be jealous, i'm literally eating cereal right now. but also please do send it

Bruno: I can bring you a to-go box if you want.

"Off day today?" you ask.

Bruno drags his fingers through his hair and sighs. Other than that, he doesn't show any frustration.

"I planned for today to be short, then I could head home but as you can see it's not really going as planned. And all these lights…." He looks at you. "I'm sorry. I'm sure you're tired too."

"No, no it's okay. It’s totally my fault! We can take a break if you want?"

The studio had been dabbling with more amateur work lately so the director had left you and Jocelyn to handle this, and Jocelyn had decided it would be fine if you were on your own for this film. You weren't sure why you agreed since you had only been here about a month at this point and didn't feel completely comfortable. But you did and it was proving to be very nerve wracking. It affected your work and dragged this out longer than necessary.

“And honestly, I should probably take one too," you add.

Bruno agrees and you grab the man's robe and place it on his shoulders. While He slips back on his briefs you turn to the small crew.

“Guys lets take a 15 minute break.”

Everyone gives their okays and most of the crew leaves the room while a few check the equipment or their phones.

You tell Bruno where you're going and head outside to get some fresh air.

You try to use the time to relax but instead end up walking back and forth, worrying about the film and Bruno. The man was still able to act the part but you stopping and going so often was definitely affecting his performance. And you really didn't want him to have to act out every motion.

You stop walking and lean against the wall of the building. While waiting for the break to end you see someone approaching from the parking lot. The editor you helped before when they weren't feeling well.

You push yourself off the walls and meet them part way with a greeting.

You nod and give the signal.

You walk down the hallway slightly annoyed. Jocelyn just informed you that you would be covering for one of your coworkers last minute. It was inconvenient but not that big of a deal. That is until you found out that Melone was one of the actors.

When you first met him, he seemed to keep to himself for the most part. But recently he had become fixated on you. Every break in filming he’d approach you.

At first it wasn't so bad and you thought he was trying to be friendly, but it didn't take long for you to start feeling uncomfortable. Some of the questions he asked made you feel weird--it wasn't anything you weren't used to but the way he asked them... And when you tried to steer the conversation into a different direction he didn't take the hint. On top of all this, you didn't see him do this with anybody else.

You walk into the breakroom and find Bruno snacking. He greets you but quickly realizes something's up.

"What's wrong?" he asks.

The leather couch that you hate creaks when you fall back on it.

“Well I have to unexpectedly help with more camera work today. And Melone's going to be there so he's definitely going to be talking my ear off.”

You try to sound indifferent about it but Bruno says something you don't expect.

"I can talk to Jocelyn and get you out of it."

"Huh? No, no you don't need to do that. That's a silly reason to try to skip out."

"Well, how about I say it like this? I'm done for today and I would like to take you out to eat with me."

You smile. "That does sound nice..."

"Okay, it's settled then. I'll go talk to her and then we can go."

Once Bruno comes back the both of you walk to his car.

"Eating mostly oatmeal and vegetables for the last 2 days hasn't been very satisfying," he says as he opens the passenger door for you.

You get in and wait for him to walk around to get in the driver side.

"It sucks but at least you can eat whatever now. Where are we eating by the way?"

"Bertolino's--it's nearby. I'm craving pizza. Or pasta."

You feel your stomach grumble pleased with the thought.

"You could do both, kinda like macaroni pizza."

Bruno glances at you. "That sounds...unpleasant."

"Oh so you've tried it?"

"No."

"Then how do you know?"

You watch him try to wrack his brain for a rebuttal and fail.

"...It still sounds bad though," he says.

"Try it first then we can talk."

You reach out and poke the man's cheek. He immediately shoos your hand away and throws a miffed look at you.

"Hey, I'm trying to drive."

You grin but leave him alone. This was the first time you'd get to spend time with Bruno outside of work so you were a little restless and couldn't help messing with him.

"This is probably the most excited I've seen you," he says.

"Yea--just happy to be outside of work!"

"Is Melone that much of a problem?"

"No...well he can be a lot but it's not really a big issue. I'm just happy to get to spend time with you is what I meant."

Bruno's doesn't respond right away and you wonder if you said something wrong.

"If he's bothering you I can handle it," he finally says.

You let out a laugh. "Are you going to beat him up?"

"If necessary."

You stop smiling when you realize he isn't joking and conclude that he doesn't like Melone. You wonder what the man could have done to get on Bruno's bad side though since he seemed to get along with everyone.

"I feel the same by the way," Bruno says.

"Huh?"

"About getting to spend time together."

You and Bruno spend the next hour and a half sharing a pizza and talking. And the two of you learn a few things about the other that didn't involve work. Like that he wears glasses to read and that he had a dyeing "accident" with his hair recently.

Afterwards you didn't really feel like going back to work so Bruno drives you home.

You unbuckle your seatbelt. "Thanks for the meal and ride."

Bruno smiles. His mood seems better now that he's eaten. "You're welcome. We should do this again sometime."

"Yeah, I'd like that." And instead of saying goodbye and getting out of the car, you sit there expecting--expecting something.

The both of you stare at one another until Bruno leans towards you. His lips meet yours and for some reason his breath smells like mint.

Before you can worry about your own breath, Bruno's hand is on your thigh and sliding up. His tongue presses against your lips, coaxing you to part them.

The beating in your chest feels so hard and your hands clinch next to your thighs. You want to reach out for Bruno and make a mess out of him, but you feel like you're running out of breath way too quickly.

You pull away.

Bruno immediately moves his hand off your leg. "What's wrong?"

You weren't really sure yourself. You just knew something was bothering you. Or maybe that was just the food you ate trying to digest. Either way it was preventing you from fully enjoying this.

"I'm not sure but I think it's best if we stop for now."

He nods but you worry he might be a little disappointed.

"Whew, okay.."

"Do you want me to walk you to your apartment?" he asks.

You brush a misplaced hair behind his ear and press a quick kiss to his lips. Once you pull back, you open the car door and step out.

Firstly, never change Grumpy ;) you are probably the only person on Tumblr to LISTEN to another view and let it change a prejudice.

Secondly, the Padagram/Social Media change bus continues. Don't be fooled people will be looking at positive and negative reactions to that change on social media.

So here goes!

1. They are starting to market season 2 of Walker in Hiatus. That really doesn't happen. That means they know they need to target new viewers. They are acknowledging they have a problem. The main problem is Jared either didn't learn enough about production quality on SPN (Jensen/Misha were both more interested in behind the camera's) or that he thought he could stick a Stetson on and we all had such sh1t for brains we'd watch anything. So they need a viewer boost DESPARATELY and are going all out to (a) persuade Walkers remaining viewer(s) that it's worth sticking around and (b) get back old viewers or convert 1m+ viewers to season 2. So now we see all the cast (and Keegan has more followers than Jared and Lindsay has a VERY engaged following) trying to persuade their followers how fabulous Walker is. Expect this scrabbling to continue if they want their COVID paychecks.

2. Connected to 1, Jared has started trying to break out of the fandom bubble. I don't think he's trying for power couple (the clue in a power couple is that two FAMOUS people get together and create a super brand, here we have one niche C famous guy and a hanger on wife), I think we are in Jared profile raising and trying to raise his recognition score, which is probably a little low having half assed it in the last year and a half. He's doing it by scatter-gunning so I'm not sure it's going to stick.

3. Connected to 2,

(i) if I run my algorithm clean laptop with a "Jared Padalecki" news search, I get (a) a daily mail article on Jared "clarifying the rift" (b) a "hello" magazine saying he's been "inundated with support after death of "family member"" (c) the new york times article on Walker and Supernatural. It then goes into a variety of articles about Jared raising money for Holly's family (fucking atrocious in my view to use her death for publicity) and a series of derivative articles on his mantrum and later explanation. ONLY THE NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE MENTIONS WALKER other than as a throw away, all of the others link to Supernatural only. Walker isn't on the main radar of anyone as a show. It's not mainstream enough to mention. it has ZERO buzz.

(ii) if I run the same search on my compromised tablet, I get a SEA of fluff articles "jared padalecki goes to venice", "jared padalecki's wife wishes him a happy birthday" "jared padalecki goes to watch soccer" "jared padalecki goes to the wrestling". I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow.

At the end of that I get the same articles as in (i) but the majority of his publicity is still going through the fandom and the, not very viewed, endless zine type websites that update on every episode of every geek show every day.

So we are seeing, and I expect it to continue, a break out Padalecki, (who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films), and a fluff Padalecki, trying to stay relevant a year after SPN relevance ended, because he hasn't got the same push for season 2 of Walker as he had for season 1 and Walker has zero presence. No one, not even the fans are talking about Walker.

Will it work? I don't think so. Keegan has 7m followers on Insta and that's because he's a photographer and writer and it's interesting. I would follow his account (I don't), but certainly it isn't a Walker instagram.

Jared is a clever guy, but he's boring on social media. He has a limited appeal. He does family snaps, hunk snaps, flogs orange pee and flogs his show. He says "family" and "mantra" a lot but that's really it. The clue is, if you didn't know who he was and came across his instagram you wouldn't follow him. Why would you? For a video of a guy running up steps? A smug picture of two middle aged men trying to flog you something?... (oh and lots of "brother" comments on Keegan's social media, which is irritating. It's like he thinks that is his repeatable formula and it isn't).

His media approach won't work because advertising and exposure pushes a product. In TV's case, it's not a one off product and there is a lot of competition. Product Jared needs to be more interesting (his mantrum's are the only exciting thing about him - and that is tragic) and his TV show just needs to be BETTER, well, a LOT BETTER.

Soooo, expect the Padapush to continue, but it's not about a couple, it's about individual marketing and for Jared breaking out of SPN bubble. For Gen, it's her tag along profile that she'll never break out of. She'll have to be satisfied with her superpower of being able to persuade people to buy toothbrush's and dog food (if she can).

Expect though the couple's bit to die off a little. Jared is getting over exposed. His engagement rating is plummeting (nearly 3% is a plummet) because of the repetitive photo content. He'll have to back off or people will switch off (I have already). What makes me laugh is.... from the dawn of time when cavemen took their wives 2 miles away for a new cave weekend.... NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN INTERESTED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOLIDAY SNAPS.... Gen and Jared apparently need to learn that lesson...

I might stop these posts now because, well, it's gotta be a bit boring for you and I write LONG. :)

I started following Lindsey on IG because she seems pretty genuine, and her cat is way too cute! Plus, I like her attitude. I haven’t followed her for the whole Walker season, but even she doesn’t post a lot about it. She posts interviews and then posts about that night’s episode, but other than that, nothing. Can’t speak for Keegan, but how are fans and non-fans supposed to be excited about a show when the people STARRING in the show can’t be bothered? Maybe they’re all aware of how shitty it is or maybe they’re lazy, but it doesn’t make sense.

I’m always interested to see the difference in an “algorithm-free” setting and one that has an algorithm. I always figured Google was the same for everyone, but seeing the difference in articles you’ve outlined is insane. It really just goes to show that Jared isn’t the star that his stans think he is. He’s not as important as they think he is, he’s just an actor. It’s even more jarring to see just how little Walker is talked about at all. All of my devices probably have been “contaminated” when it comes to algorithm so I can’t really speak personally about the public and fans talking about Walker or not talking about it. I can say that on the posts about Walker from the Supernatural Facebook page, a good chunk of the comments are people saying they stopped watching, never got into it, or thought it was trash. There are only a handful of comments talking about how they enjoy the show.

I think it was disgusting for him to use a fan’s passing for publicity. And no, I don’t think it was anything other than a PR stunt. Her family had a GFM going that was promoted by plenty of the case INCLUDING GEN, so you know he knew about it. But for him to make his own special one and then have articles posted everywhere about how charitable he is? That’s gross PR bullshit and I hope it backfires.

I still follow a few Supernatural fans, Jared fans, Jensen fans, etc. on Tumblr and even they aren’t mentioning it. I think maybe the hardcore Jared stans post gifsets or whatever, but I don’t see much praise for the show itself, just Jared’s looks. Even the fans aren’t biting and that would make me reevaluate everything if I was Jared.

I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow. This made me laugh way too hard!

who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films You are on a ROLL! Maybe I’ve become biased, but I can’t see Jared doing films. I mean, I could see him doing like a side character role or something small, but I can’t see him having a big part of a movie. Like I said, maybe that’s me being biased but I see him staying in TV. I could be proven wrong, but I don’t know.

I agree about Jared being boring on SM. I used to get some giggles from his Twitter posts and even some of his early IG posts because they were goofy, clever, and candid. It showed his humor and was more personable. Now it’s just all fake and comes off as someone whose only motivation to engage with fans is money and that’s a big turn off.

For me personally, I think that if instead of the “couple goals” bullshit that they try to push for their lavish trips, if they just posted cool pictures they took of different locations, activities, food or whatever, that would be more palatable than all the “Look at my hubster and I! We’re in Italy! Look at how in love we are!” But maybe that’s because I’ve become a bit of a photography nerd?

I guess time will tell whether or not Jared will make positive changes and if Walker can be saved, but I’m not really optimistic about it.

And then he just mails them to her with some other goodies and a few pictures of Duke and him and ~him~ 😉👉👉 and she posts the carepackage on her ig story and everyone on twiter is freaking out bc they remember her comment on live

I’m seeing a vision! I tweaked this just a little.

Here’s part one, two, and three. It’s the Distance series on my masterlist.

So Calum’s waiting at the airport, sunglasses and baseball cap. It doesn’t completely make him unrecognizable. But it helps enough. He had planned to get the airport right as she was landing so that he could avoid the crowd as he waited. He got to the airport and she hadn’t texted him yet. So he assumed that the plane got delayed just a little bit. So Calum just waits and a couple fans approach him, asking for a quick picture. He obliges but when he feels his phone buzz in his pocket, he graciously backs out. “Sorry I can’t chat for longer. Here to pick someone up.”

And the fans totally understand and thank him again for the time he did spend with them. When Calum checks his phone, there’s a text from her: On my way out now. Plane had to circle for a bit before a strip opened up for them to land. Calum’s not worried and keeps his gaze glued to the sliding doors. There area few minutes, that feel like an eternity, but soon the sea of people starts to thin and Calum can spot her, with her suitcase next to her and she’s glancing around too.

And just before he calls out her name, she spots him. Her bright is just as big and she runs over, colliding into his chest. And Calum’s trying not to think of how she somehow just seems to fit into his arms and how he really likes having her there with him even though it’s only been literal seconds. And she’s trying not to think about how Calum’s scent of Old Spice, faded but not gone cologne, and Gain detergent reminds her of her childhood and she’s not even sure how that happened, but it did. Dear God, save their souls.

So inside the truck, after getting her suitcase into the truck, Calum points to the bag at her feet on the floor the passenger seat. “Didn’t bring Duke, but I did bring snacks.”

So as she peers inside she sees her favorite snacks. “You did not!”

“I was going to ship them to you. But by the time, I was able to get my hands on some, travel restrictions her lifting and like, we started planning on your visit. So I just held onto them. They haven’t expired! I checked.”

“Thank you,” she returns, stretching against the seatbelt and kissing cheek. So she pulls out her phone and starts recording. And it’s just the profile of Calum’s face as he’s working to get through the traffic of the airport, but it’s fine. “So this man, right over there,” and her hand comes into frame as she gently pokes his cheek, “bought me my favorite snacks? And like, where the hell have they been hiding all the good men like you at? Thanks, Cal.”

“You’re welcome,” he smiles, throwing a quick glance in her direction and into the camera. But on the inside, he’s trying not to LITERALLY die. Because she just kissed him. Yeah, it was on the cheek, but still. It fucking counts. That was a kiss. She initiated that and holy shit, he really needs to focus on the road but his cheek is tingling from the brief contact of her soft lips. Calum hopes he’s playing this really cool, but he’s so not cool on the inside. No, right now his pits are a swamp, and he’s pretty sure he might vomit, but right now he has to keep it together. He’s not thirteen for fuck sake, but everything feels so new in that first puppy love kind of ordeal. Even he’s over himself for reacting this way, but still as the drive settles in, his stomach still tenses up a little when she laughs and he’s hearing it in person and not ever speakers or through headphones. It’s ten times more magical in person.

Soon they get to his place. As she gets situated, Duke’s sniffs around her, but doesn’t go straight up to her. However, a couple hours later, while she and Calum are in the kitchen, figuring out what to eat for lunch, Duke walks up to her. She feels his snout at the back of her heel and she laughs because it tickles. “Hello, nice to finally meet you Mr. Duke.”

He looks up at the sound of his name and then when she squats down, her palms up for Duke to sniff at. Calum’s heart is melting in his chest. He knows that this is it for him. He’s literally falling off the deep end because Duke, who’s not great with folks, is approaching her, of all people. If Duke falls in love, then he has not choice. That’s it, that’s a wrap.

She doesn’t want to startle the old man, so she settles for some sniffs and gives him some head scratches and Duke’s content with that. He can handle that before going over to Calum and then flopping onto his belly. “I would be offended but I know that’s your human,” she jokes. She misses her own dog. Calum mentioned Duke still being a little hesitant around other dogs and she arranged for a friend to watch them. She would have daily video calls though and that would be enough for the five days she was out of town.

And later on, in the day, while she’s stretched out on Calum’s couch with her head in his lap and Duke curled up on the opposite side of Calum, she scrolls through Twitter. The TV’s playing a rom-com that she didn’t have to to beg Calum too much to watch. The fans are having a RIOT over the video you just posted. With comments like: He remembered her favorite snacks. Wow, what a world to live in when i can stan a thoughtful King. And a few others. One sticks out, I totally get that their relationship is their business. But omg, this is love if I’ve ever seen it. Calum and her both deserve this. Attached is a bunch of crying emojis along with the weepy eyes one too.

“You begged me to watch this movie, and you’re on your phone,” Calum teases.

“It’s a commercial break, thank you very much.” But she’s just staring up at him, the cut of his jaw and the way his eyes melt when he looks at Duke. She’s not sure how she’s going to be able to leave.

As the movie resumes, she sits back up, the comments on Twitter forgotten. Because it’s just getting to the good part, the climax of every rom-com ever where the two fated loves are on the brink of losing it all, and Calum’s not even paying attention to it because he’s trying to memorize the way she looks curled up on his couch, and the way her nose wrinkles when she laughs, and the way scoots closer to the edge of the cushions like she can’t get close enough. She just belongs there and Calum’s praying that the universe treats him right just this once.

As the week continues on, they fall into a easily into a routine and they sight see and just hang around the local shops and places that Calum loves. She snaps so many pictures of Calum, when he’s looking, when he’s not looking. One morning along with her morning cup of tea, there’s a stack of photos. They’re polaroids and some are really tiny, some are bigger. “What’s this?”

“When I got you the snacks, I was gonna send along some photos too. Make it like a care package, and I didn’t want you to leave without them.” So she looks through all, with pictures of Duke, and Calum and Duke and some just of him and she smiles softly. One specifically, of Calum and Duke chilling in Calum’s backyard is just small enough to fit in the tiny slot between her phone and the clear backing of her phone case, so she slips it inside, so the picture faces out and it’s not obstructed by the Pop Socket on the back of it.

Calum only notices it later in the evening when they’re out at dinner and she’s put her phone face down onto the table. His heart is goo, and while it was goo a long time ago, it’s definitely goo now and he’s not even phased. He’d rather his heart melt and run through his fingers if it means she’s the one with the bucket to collect it all.

In all seriousness, it is a bit of a bummer if they aren't friends anymore, but I'm sure they are professional enough to not let it interfere with their jobs. Awwww, you’re too kind! *hugs* As for the beef, I think we don’t even know there was one, we assume that there was, but we don’t really know. Like I said, they still follow each other on Twitter and even the IG unfollowing happened months after when people assume there was a beef, so honestly, who knows? I’ll post something a little later that I hope will help people feel calmer, but I generally suspect we’ll all enjoy fandom way more if we just stick to the show and let those adult men figure out their friendship on their own. It’s for our sake as much as theirs that I prefer not to dwell on this too much. *CRACKS KNUCKLES*

okay. ive decided im going to discontinue the jirou x reader fanfic "wrong number, my bad" for a number of reasons that i will get into in a bit. i have also, however, decided to create an smau for hawks (probably not, but who ive decided on for now) x reader, based on something more personal about me. the goal of the story being more personal is to give me a better layout for how it should continue on and the feelings can be more genuine than me making up stories on a whim and hoping they work. i will give out the plan for wnmb, however, so that anybody interested can still understand how the story wouldve ended.

now as for why im abandoning wnmb.

1. i dont feel the energy to write it anymore. i dont like where the story is going, and with my current mental state and status at school, i dont have the ability to start over or try again. i font have the ideas for the story and just dont vibe with it.

2. mental reasons. i can't stick to the schedule i made for the story as well as i used to be able to, and also personal mental health reasons that sort of keep me from doing so.

3. there are personal life reasons that cause this, but jirou has slowly evolved into somewhat of a discomfort character. i dont want to get into the reasons as to why, but i dont like her that much and bad memories come up whenever i try to sit with her in my head for too long.

thats really all for why i dont want to continue wnmb, but for anybody interested, here was the plan as to how the story was planned out (via notes):

NHL WAM Summer Camp vol 4 episode 4: Rasmus Ristolainen

The hosts of the show visit Turku where Rasmus Ristolainen has a training day with his personal physio coach Ville Rintala.

The training is on a football pitch and of course Risto has footwear to match the occasion, camo/gold cleats.

(I’ll skip most of the narration here, focusing on the interview bits, okay? One of the hosts, Manninen, tries out Ristolainen’s exercises, they talk with Rasmus and his coach, and later move on to Rasmus’ apartment in Turku.)

Q: Ripa (note: they don’t stick to just one nickname, why would they!), how has your summer been?

R: Really good. Nothing special, a lot of training and I’ve been traveling pretty much.

Q: Yes, I’ve seen on your IG, you running the hills of Crete and Cyprus.

Q: Ville, how has Rasse’s summer training looked like? Progress?

V: Yes, there’s progress every day. We have four more weeks to go before he goes back to the US.

Q: Rasmus isn’t one of your basic players who’ll just do what the trainer says, he has his own opinions on how to do the exercises. I guess you don’t have to push him very hard to get him to do anything.

V: Not if we practice something that he likes to do, like today. But there are parts of training he likes less, like conditioning. It takes some effort to wind down the pace with him, he’s always wanting to move on to the next move. He hates staying still. But it’s futile to overcoach any athlete, you don’t want to yell, there has to be the internal motivation to practice.

(moving on to Risto’s sunny balcony)

Q: You have a pretty nice place here. But hey, not a penthouse! Have you tried to pressure your upstairs neighbors to move out?

R: Well, I’ve tried to play music annoyingly loudly a couple of times each summer but that doesn’t seem to do much. Most of the other residents are a bit older and they spend a lot of the summer out on their summer cottages. I haven’t really even seen who lives up there.

Q:. What have you been doing? Your instagram is full of training pics.

R: I haven’t done too much else to be honest. I like working out and this summer I’ve done some trips to nice training places. I’ve been on Mykonos, in Marbella, a couple of times in Sweden. That takes up most of the summer.

Q: Do you always travel with the same training group?

R: Basically yes. A bit more in Mykonos but in Spain it was me and Ville.

Q: Tell me about how John Scott took you out in the Sabres locker room? How does that happen?

R: it was just some horseplay that we had after morning ice. I threw a cup or something at him from behind. I didn’t mean anything bad but he just happened to turn around and it hit him right in the face. He chased me for a while until I couldn’t run away anymore. Well, it calmed down, but then he said he wants to show me something. He took me in a chokehold and told me to tap out as soon as I don’t feel anything anymore. I fainted immediately. I didn’t have time to tap or anything. I woke up on the locker room floor. It was a weird feeling, being out for like ten seconds, they were pumping my chest in panic and I wake up there, like, what happened, and head to the gym.

Q: Hasn’t Scott told later that he panicked totally, shit, I killed our highest draft pick, we gotta get the guy up.

R: Yes, I’ve heard. It was scary, all right, but at least I now know what it feels like.

Q: He seemed like a nice dude, we met him in Buffalo one year.

R: He is. I actually called him up then to come in for the show to tell how it went, that story can give him unnecessary bad reputation if people don’t know what actually happened and think that he did some shit to me on purpose. But we’re cool, it was just fooling around. He was a great teammate and we still message each other from time to time.

Q: Time for Twitter questions. First, does Rasmus have a car with a woman figure and letters RR in front already?

R: What does that mean?

Q: Some car mod apparently.

R: No, I don’t have my cars modified.

Q: Who of these would you rather take down with a body check on open ice: a) Ovechkin, b) Mikko Koivu, c) Brad Marchand, d) Hornqvist, e) someone else, who?

R: All of them. (Exclaims boldly) Everyone. All together at once or one at a time.

Q: Tile or tin roof?

R: The one that stays cooler.

Q: Goal or assist?

R: Win.

Q: The best road city?

R: Toronto.

Q: Toronto, really? We get Vegas a lot.

R: Vegas is not that much my style.

Q: I’ve heard you train with MMA fighters in the summer. Do you follow UFC, have you gone to see any fights live?

R: Haven’t watched it live but I do like to watch martial arts, UFC, boxing. I’ve trained with Teemu Packalén (below) for a few years now.

Q: Which side of the river are we on now, by the way?

R: The other side. Both sides are the other side.

(The river Aura runs through Turku and the sides of the river are referred to “This” and “The other” side - to be more exact, it’s “on this side” and “on the other side” said in the local dialect, but if it’s just a running joke to refer to the POV in the situation or if there is a distinction is a complete mystery to me. I’m not from there)

Q: Meatballs with mashed potatoes, chicken and pasta or baked macaroni casserole?

R: I’d say macaroni casserole.

Q: It’s hot in here.

R: Yes, the air doesn’t move at all here. But you’re the one who wanted to sit here. This is like a sauna! An American style sauna where you can’t even trow water on the stove.

Q: Which elbow pad do you put on first?

R: Left. I don’t know why.

Q: Would you dare to put pink laces in your skates and play with them next season?

R: No. It’s not about daring but - no. I don’t do that kind of foolery.

Q: Did you get fined for this celly?

R: No fine but I keep hearing about it. That and the other one. Both of the two goals I did last season, people keep giving me shit about the celly. But at least people remember them!

Q: But it’s the right way. Let the feeling take over!

R: Yes. When you score only a couple of times a season, you gotta put on a show when it happens.

Q: Donna or Samppalinna?

R: Donna.

Q: Thanks for the answers!

R: Difficult questions!

Q: We’re going out on a boat now! Rasmus is going to show his berth next. (Rasmus laughs) He doesn’t have a boat, though, but he can show someone else’s.

(After the closing credits)

Q: So you got your driver’s licence back?

R: I’ve always had it.

Q: You can believe that in the NHL WAM history we always get most unusable stuff with Ripa.

Q: You must like this car model, you have the same in the US?

R: Yes. (It’s) safe.

Q: Do you want to comment your speeding ticket?

R: Better not try to explain.

R: (on pizza toppings) Pineapple, mushrooms, onion, garlic and pulled chicken wing meat.

kumoricon is all wrapped up and i had such a great time with my best friend cosplaying and throwing my money around after having to skip last year but i just wanted to say something in regards to me “coming back” (again) because i promised i would after the con was done and i wasn’t staying up til 4 am sewing anymore:

i’ve realized that as much as i love fandom culture and talking about headcanons and meta and such with likeminded people, completely steeping myself in said culture regardless of how many or few things i’m interested in, is not good for me mentally. i put pressure on myself to only create work for the fanbases i’m in, and because i’m usually super involved with one thing at a time, that usually means i’m only making art or writing for one pairing/fan base because i think that’s all people want to see from me, and if i stop making or making as much of this one specific thing, no one will care about my work at all.

and because i like such random things -ie harringrove, then most everything else i like is anime or animated related, then sprinkle in some random movies and comics of various genres - switching things up when i’m really feeling even just one other show or paiirng is something i don’t do anymore. i don’t commit to making things or really exploring that other media i may be really influenced or inspired by out of this silly fear that no one cares about anything i do but the one thing they follow me for and it’s not worth it.

i put a lot of imagined pressure on myself and i know that tends to put me back in terms of productivity and working on my self esteem but it’s STILL a persistent problem because i’m STILL talking about it. i still stamp out my own creativity and any new ideas that don’t always have to do with a fanbase or group i’ve been primarily active in and it’s really detrimental to my self worth and artistic process.

i basically split up the content i like now because i know here most people that follow me are harringrove people and that’s what they stick around for. this is where the fanbase really lives and most of y’all don’t share a lot of my other interests so this blog is mostly all harringrove stuff primarily because of that reason, while on twitter and even IG the harringrove fanbase is quite small and there’s only so much content for it while my other interests are thriving; that’s why i go away on here sometimes even if i’m still not freeing myself up to be more creative.

that’s also why i haven’t been on discord in awhile either, because there’s a lot of talking about one singular subject all the time - and there’s so many conversations going on at once - and i get burnt out super easily being oversaturated like that, no matter how much i like something. sometimes i just need a break from seeing one kind of content and from endless conversation (about said thing or just in general) but i still don’t let myself actively partake in diversifying the stuff i make — i’m afraid the most supportive group i’ve been part of for so long will give up on me because they’re seeing other content from me they’re not interested in.

i’ve brought this up before too -years back i finally changed up my content from a fanbase i wasn’t into anymore into things i actually really enjoyed, which also included how i drew because one style i had got all the positive feedback - and god knows how many people unfollowed me in a really short amount of time because of that. numbers shouldn’t matter but when you’re a creator and you want to be able to make a living off your craft, they kind of do, so sometimes you feel the need to keep doing something to keep the support going even if you need a break from it, or maybe even don’t enjoy it anymore.

and i because i don’t have the following where i could draw whatever i felt like and at least a decent chunk of people would be into it and more people would come as some go, i have this fear, and it’s why i do what i’ve been doing. a lot of the harringrove stuff i draw, too, is for fun, but others’ enjoyment and support over it is what keeps me doing it or wanting to do it even when the pairing itself isn’t inspiring me all that much — i don’t want to let people down.

i’m sorry this is so rambly and long but it’s something i’ve been stewing over for a long time and i’m tired of being so afraid to create out of fear that i’m letting people down by doing what inspires me vs. what i think people want to see from me and what people like best. i’m trying not to let numbers mean so much to me and determine my worth or what i create but they do and i’m still trying to unlearn that behavior.

Let’s start at the beginning (or another cool title if I think of one):

Chapter 1

It’s an oppressively hot July day in Philadelphia and my friend Cara and I are in my parents’ backyard, seeking refuge from the heat in the pool. We’ve both been traveling this summer and have a lot to catch up on--work, friends, diets we have read about and are considering trying for 24 hours and then quitting. But when the conversation turns to our love lives, as it inevitably does, we hit a lull. Not only are we both single, but we’ve both always been single. As in, never had a boyfriend or anything resembling a relationship. And I suspect with near certainty that we are experiencing similar dry spells, the kind that go on so long you begin to wonder if you’ll ever actually have sex again. We’re both 27 and, in our world, this lack of a romantic past makes us outliers. Almost all of our friends are in serious relationships; Cara has been a bridesmaid in more weddings than many people will attend in a lifetime and most weekends I’m a fifteenth wheel.

The two of us have spent countless hours lamenting our singlehood over takeout and true crime miniseries, but on this sweltering summer day, the tone is different. Instead of the usual “why us?” the question we asked each other was “why not us?” We’re both cute and fun and smart, we have years of therapy under our belts so we’re very in touch with ourselves, and we are generally down-ass bitches. (For the record, Cara is an absolute smokeshow, but she has no idea how beautiful she is, I just wanted that down on the record). Each of us is a great catch! So, like, why the fuck are we single?

I have to imagine this question is posed countless times every day in the greater Philadelphia area--even though my world is populated by couples, singles are everywhere, hopping from bar to sweaty bar, flooding intramural kickball leagues, and, most of all, frantically swiping left and right on dating apps. Like all singles my age, I am constantly bombarded with questions from family members about my relationship status. Am I putting myself out there? Am I projecting good energy? Am I staying open minded? Am I sure I’m not a lesbian? But none of those inquisitors has anything to actually offer me because in 2019, dating takes place on our phones where anonymity reigns and, for the most part, profile pictures are the deciding factor. It is a confusing landscape that offers little comfort to women in their mid (cough--late) twenties who are forced to contemplate things like egg viability and maternity leave long before we’re even ready to consider having our IUDs removed. Which is why on that July day in my parents’ backyard, Cara’s frustration-turned-motivation piqued my interest.

If you have ever been desperate enough (guilty) to search “how to find a boyfriend in Philly,” then you know there is a real dearth of useful information. Multiple publications have recommended smiling as you walk down the street as a way to meet people. Um, have you been to Philadelphia? So we want to go find the answers for ourselves, not only to seek our own romantic experiences, but also to help our fellow singles gain a foothold in this rocky terrain. It’s not not like Sex and the City...right?

2019: Dating in a Hellscape

I really can’t say for sure whether dating in 2019 is much worse than it was for previous generations, but I can confirm that it sucks. If my tone has not been clear thus far, let me say it in black and white: I hate dating apps. I genuinely believe that they work for some people, in fact I have friends who found their spouse on apps like Bumble and Hinge. But for me and others like me, they just don’t do the trick. Perhaps it’s the somewhat concerning level of anonymity, or maybe the fact that the internet encourages us to present an image of ourselves that isn’t exactly accurate. I, for one, rarely look as good as I do in my five best pictures, and I struggle to convey who I really am in a few short lines, opting to seem like a “cool girl” (see, eg. Gone Girl), rather than an anxious nerd who can rant about politics for hours on end and has an encyclopedic knowledge of Vanderpump Rules. The times I have actually attempted talking to guys on apps, I’ve been left with a bad taste in my mouth, feeling hollow from a modern-day simulation of a conversation. It feels forced and I feel phony.

So for those of us who can’t seem to connect on dating apps, what is left to try? I have been going to the bars in Philly for the better part of a decade, stomping the dangerously uneven pavement in uncomfortable heels, clad in too-small tops and ripped jeans that cost more than I could reasonably afford. I’ve joined intramural teams, writing classes, even a sketch comedy troupe for a very short stint, and here I am, still at square one, no wiser than when I started. Like so many others in this city, I am at a loss so, spurred on by my poolside conversation with Cara and emboldened by a near-willingness to give up completely and retire to a life on my couch watching The Office for the 19th time, I am going to get some answers.

The Plan (in beta, anyway)

I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to do this thing. My overall goal is to take a research-based approach to love and dating as a whole in Philadelphia. This encompasses a lot and I’ll hopefully be able to narrow it down and find my voice somewhere along the way, but for now, here are a few things I’m thinking:

Bars: Philadelphia is known for its many distinct neighborhoods and the seemingly countless bars that line their streets. I want to go to as many as I can and see if the last remaining vestige of traditional analog dating has anything left to offer--can you really meet someone in a bar in 2019? I’ll try to find out.

Apps: Have I been missing the answer right in front of my nose the entire time? Maybe I’ve been too hasty in my dismissal of dating apps, or perhaps I just haven’t tried the right one. So, yeah, I’m going to swallow my pride and make profiles on all of them so I can report back to you.

Singles Events: I just groaned typing that, but I’m afraid I have to give it a shot. I know it sounds cheesy and very early-2000s, but if they wouldn’t still do them if singles events like speed dating never worked. Right?

Friends of Friends: Is it possible that the reason I haven’t found someone is that I’ve been too afraid to ask to be set up? Cue the nervous sweats because I’m going to ask my friends if they know anyone I might be interested in. Oh god, I’m lightheaded.

I will explore all of these methods and give an in-depth review of my experiences. I also want to go a step beyond meeting people to answer questions about intimacy, love, gut-feelings, and much more--which means first dates are up for grabs and I will try to come up with as many different date ideas as possible to see what works.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Since this is all still very nascent, I have a few things left to figure out; for example, how to go on a dating app without just closing my eyes and swiping left. As I ready myself to take a sledge hammer to my comfort zone, I’ll follow up with a little more about myself, what I’m looking for, and why the fuck I’m putting myself through this. In the meantime, send me all of your questions, ideas, feedback, and more. If there’s a particular activity or place or tactic you’d like to see me try, I’ll do it (within a modicum of reason). As I can only give you one straight single woman’s perspective, I plan on dragging my friends into this, so don’t hesitate to ask questions I alone cannot answer. And even if you’re not single or not looking, just stick with me and, at the very least, you’re almost guaranteed to see me make a fool out of myself.

I am not a prude and I actually like burlesque and have been to The Box and fully expected him to hook up with somebody in DC ~on the low~ but even I can say this is not a good look for him.
