Morning Races pt2

As requested, here is part 2! This plot was really cute to do and I def wouldn’t mind making a part 3 Pairing: Lee Keonhee x Reader WC: 1,036 Genre: Fluff, Comedy-ish, tiny smidge of angst

You were disappointed to say the least. 

After your last run in with the stranger, he seemed to just disappear. He didn’t show up again on the train the next day, or for the whole month following. It shouldn’t have affected you as much as it did, but without him being there at the start of your morning the days just seemed...less colorful. Even Dongju had taken notice of your rather dour mood.

Which is why you were currently on the train, making the same commute that you usually did for work in the mornings. Only this time, your destination was a small cafe that (if you were remembering correctly) was on the same street that your stranger would turn down to get to work. Apparently Dongmyeong, Dongju’s twin brother, had just begun working at that cafe and Dongju was going to try and score you some free pastries. Today they were releasing a new variety of cake that Dongju said was going to be to die for.

So you were dressed fairly casually since it was your day off, just some comfy clothing. You never really got dressed up when you hung out with Dongju. It was going to be nice to see Dongmyeong again, it had been quite a while since the three of you had last hung out. Well...this wouldn’t really be hanging out for Dongmyeong since he would be working but that was beside the point. You were excited to see two of your closest friends. 

As the train slowed to a stop, you found yourself people watching. It was only about an hour after you would usually leave for work, so the train was still packed with business types heading to their shifts. You felt a twinge of satisfaction knowing that you weren’t in their position today, and you were definitely going to enjoy your day off. As this thought passed through your brain, a familiar face passed through the doors just before the closed. 

Who could it be other than your stranger. 

You felt your heart practically leap into your throat. Did you talk to him? You had only spoken once before and the only thing you said to him was basically a threat. So you simply stood there, holding onto the handrail and making an attempt not to stare in his direction. It seems he didn’t notice you yet, which definitely gave you time to think about what to do if he decided to initiate a conversation. 

You swiftly pulled out your phone, messaging your group chat this time. Hopefully between both of them, they might give at least ONE piece of good advice. Maybe.

As you waited for either of the twins to message back, you glanced up to spare a look at the stranger. Only to find him now staring right at you. He looked almost as nervous as you felt, which was saying something. He once again pushed that polite smile onto his lips and waved at you. So, despite the rapid beating of your heart and the lack of help from your best friends, you smiled back. It seems that was all he needed for his anxiety to pass, he looked much less nervous now. If only it was the same with you.

The rest of the train ride consisted of stolen glances and small smiles. At least until the train arrived at your usual stop. You both were respectful when exiting but as soon as you passed the doors, all bets were off.

You had a bit more of an advantage today considering he was in a suit and you were in more casual clothing, so you used it to your advantage. Neither of you were running yet, but you were definitely jogging at this point. 

You had taken the lead, and kept glancing over your shoulder to keep an eye on where he was. Which to your misfortune, wasn’t too far back. Before you could even give yourself proper time to think about it, you broke out into a run. As you did you heard a loud cry of disapproval from the stranger. A laugh erupted from your lips as you dashed down the sidewalk, determined to win this time. You could hear the stranger catching up from behind you, his extremely long legs helping him along. 

Victory was sweet.

You had made it to the corner literal seconds before your stranger did, and you made sure he knew. You jumped around in excitement, cheering happily at the fact that after technically 3 months you had finally won! You ignored the odd looks that people passing by kept giving you, in favor of jumping around like a child and cheering loudly. You couldn’t wait to tell Dongju and Dongmyeong, even though they would probably just continue to tease you.

After your moment of triumph you finally faced the stranger, a bright smile still beaming on your face. 

“Looks like you just lost your streak.” 

He jutted out his lower lip in a rather childlike pout, crossing his arms over his chest as he did so. It honestly made him look like a giant toddler, which was a hilarious thing to think about. 

“I let you win.” He said, trying to refute the fact that you had won fair and square. “It was my apology for not being on the train the past month…” Now that took you a bit by surprise. You weren’t expecting him to think too much about how he had disappeared after the first time you spoke. Most people wouldn’t have, but he was obviously different. 

“Just keep telling yourself that, you just don’t want to admit you lost.” You couldn’t help but tease him, his facial expressions were gold. He proved this by frowning so deeply that it was comedic, which only succeeded in making you laugh again. 

After a moment of laughter and him pouting, you bowed slightly and introduced yourself. You figured that after so long, it would only be polite to finally introduce yourself. 

“I’m Keonhee. It’s nice to finally meet you. I’m on my way to work right now but, maybe we could...go get a coffee sometime? When we’re both off?” 

“I’d like that, Keonhee.”

Kpop Groups the Sakamakis and Mukamis + Yui Would Stan

gonna be completely honest i only stan bts and ateez but i listen to other groups too-

I don't know enough about the Tsukinamis and Kino, so they're not gonna be included, though I can only assume Shin's taste would be on par with Ayato's and Subaru's.

Shu:

Doesn't listen to kpop that much, if at all

Probably only watches gg mvs because of the girls

That being said, I could see him at least knowing BLACKPINK because he watched the boombaya mv once

Probably listens to orchestral versions of kpop songs, though. No groups in particular, but there's a lot of orchestral versions of bts' discography on his playlist

Would definitely relate to Yoongi on a spiritual level

Reiji:

Because of @pastelpurplekeqing I cannot see him as NOT being a hardcore ONCE

Doesn't own any albums because he doesn't wanna be bullied by his brothers, but actively streams mvs

Is probably a TWICE solo stan but listens to other group's songs as well

I can see him liking some BTS songs like Black Swan, Fake Love, or BS&T

Doesn't listen to boy groups that often but likes a few certain songs by whichever groups he feels like that day

Ayato:

He only listens to the baddest of groups with songs that can hype him up

Or girl groups sometimes, probably just ggs like BLACKPINK or Mamamoo

Big EXO-L, they were the group that got him into Kpop (vibes every day to Tempo and Monster)

Likes a lot of 2nd gen music and groups, especially Big Bang

Laito:

Doesn't listen to Kpop that much but thinks the female idols are pretty

Among other things

Definitely liked AOA songs (specifically Miniskirt and Like A Cat), absolutely knows the choreography

Doesn't stan groups but has a bias towards Aespa and TWICE

Likes solo artists like Sunmi and HyunA

Doesn't listen to boy groups unless he's around Subaru and Ayato in which those are the only groups those mfs really listen to

Kanato:

Ah yes, rabid twitter stan

Hardcore Red Velvet stan, used the family credit card to buy albums, constantly streaming, has watched every single fancam out there

Listens to a few Dreamcatcher songs because he likes some of the visuals in the mvs

Likes a few songs by Oh My Girl and iz*one

Absolutely owns light sticks

Subaru:

The biggest Stay you will ever meet. Has listened to Stray Kids' entire discography, owns a few albums and has a bunch of posters, owns the light stick, knows most of their choreography, etc

But he'll deny it with anyone but Ayato (they bond over Stray Kids)

Listens to God's Menu religiously, firmly believes Stray Kids has absolutely no bad songs

Only actually stans Stray Kids but listens to other groups like Ateez, Monsta X, and Dreamcatcher (he likes Dreamcatcher a lot)

Secretly listens to snsd

Ruki:

Would not know what Kpop even is if it wasn't for Kou and doesn't actively go out of his way to listen to any groups

Probably listens to the BTS Wings album on occasion but that's it (likes Namjoon because of his UN speech)

He knows the names of every single member of every group his brothers stan so he knows what the hell they're talking about

Feeds Kou's and Azusa's obsessions and watches weekly episodes with them

Kou:

Probably the biggest multistan on the list. Prefers girl groups, but stans a lot of boy groups too

His favorite groups are TWICE, Red Velvet, BLACKPINK, (g)i-dle, Mamamoo, Aespa, BTS, ONEUS, Seventeen, and he's getting into ATEEZ and Stray Kids

Can not for the life of him choose an Ult group or bias

Probably the most supportive stan as well when it comes to streams and merch (though he streams his own songs too), and knows a lot of choreography to their songs

Likes to get together with some of the other guys and learn dances together

Makes Ruki listen to kpop with him

Yuma:

Didn't really care for Kpop but he listened to Kick It by NCT 127 once and got hooked

Stans NCT, Monsta X, and BTS (I can see him liking early and new bts)

Likes to listen to them when he's gardening or just vibing in his room

Doesn't own merch or actively follow what the groups are doing but knows their names and listens to their songs every day

Azusa:

Big Loona stan, likes to get into fights with Kanato because Loona is superior

Owns almost every album, lightstick, and has watched every single performance at least once.

Doesn't talk too openly about his love for them when he's at home, but will take the chance to bring them out at least once in every conversation when he knows he's talking to another kpop stan

Constantly goes on 3am rants to Ruki over text over mvs or general things they do

Yui:

Multistan but loves Oh My Girl and SNSD with all her heart

Absolutely adores girl groups and especially girl crush concepts

But she owns the Love Yourself trilogy by BTS because she loves the positivity

Unproblematic kpop stan that does not understand fanwars at all.

I wanna write for Oneus, but I fear it may be controversial, so just read what I have to say, please

I'm aware of why Ravn left the group, so I won't be writing for him. However, just because I won't write for him doesn't mean I believe he's guilty. Two of my friends have been falsely accused of the same thing Ravn was accused of, and they were proven innocent, and yet their lives were completely ruined by the accusations alone. Not only that, but the "other girl", Haeun, spoke up as well, and went ahead with a lawsuit against the original accuser for using her account when Haeun had nothing to do with anything.

So yeah, those are my thoughts. I'll be writing for OT5 oneus, but I'm inclined to believe he's innocent unless proven otherwise.

Morning Races

Prompt: So every morning I get off the train and start my 20 minute walk to work, and there’s this guy who’s always like 3 steps ahead of me and always beats me to the street corner bc i get stopped by the light and he passes it. But today I was ahead of him for the first time and he RUNS in front of me, turns around and goes “I’ve been winning for 2 months now, can’t stop now, have a good day, see you tomorrow.” tmrw i swear I'm wearing running shoes to work.

The train was packed this morning, jammed in like sardines and if not for the A/C it would probably smell like it too. You kept your head down, eyes on the phone in your hand. You had been messaging a close friend of yours as a way to keep yourself entertained during your commute. The two of you used to ride the train together, but when Dongju got a new job three month ago he started having to take a different train. Which left you all by your lonesome. Well, sort of?

The messages from your best friend came in rapid succession, each asking about the beautiful stranger on your train. The two of you basically had the same commute, except he got on the train one station after your own. The two of you had never spoken, but you had exchanged a few passing glances. He even smiled at you a few times, which Dongju almost had a fit about when you told him.

Glancing over your shoulder, you noticed the blonde male standing a few feet away, his height made it quite easy for you to spot him. His height was something that irritated you. You weren’t jealous of his height, no, you were wishing that his legs were just a bit shorter. For your sake. Now see, the two of you had...an unspoken race every morning. You weren’t sure if he was aware of it, but it was something you enjoyed thinking about. 

Since the two of you exited the train at the same station, and you would walk down the same road for about 10 minutes before splitting off. You would always try to beat him to the corner where the two of you parted ways. It never worked in your favor because he was always about three steps ahead of you at any given time, because of his irritatingly long legs. Not to mention your terrible luck when it came to this silly competition. You’d get stopped by people selling things on the side of the road, or run into someone you knew, or the worst time was when you had a cup of coffee poured on you by another person on their morning commute. Needless to say, you wanted to win at least once and you had been trying for a little over two months.

Dongju thought the competition was stupid, he thought you should just out right flirt with him. Which was currently what he was messaging you and complaining about

Well he was right but he didn’t have to be so mean about it. Glancing back over at the stranger, you met his eyes. His deep brown eyes seemed to see directly into your soul, and a part of you thought that maybe this would be the day you would talk to him! He flashed you a small polite smile when your eyes met, and you felt your heart jump into your throat as you weakly returned the gesture.

Or maybe not. You decided it’d be better to just continue your unspoken little ritual and never talk to him...ever. That way you could never make a fool of yourself.

You sighed as you exited the train that day, preparing to once again lose to the handsome man. You slipped through the crowd a bit easier than him today considering you had taken a spot closer to the exit doors. You proceeded down the street, practically power walking at this point. You were almost gleeful when you realized that for once he wasn’t in front of you. Taking this opportunity, you tried your best to speed up a bit more without actually going into a jog.

It seemed that your string of bad luck had finally run out, you hadn’t been stopped at a single light or anything like that! You were practically beaming as you were about a block away from the street corner. As you continued through the crosswalk that would lead you towards victory, you heard the sounds of someone running behind you. Ignoring it, as it was probably just a student or someone who was late to work. 

You were beyond surprised when your stranger passed you, dashing forward and stealing your victory right out from under your nose. He stopped at the corner, panting lightly for a moment and completely ignoring the stranger looks that others were giving him. You had flat out stopped a few feet away, in complete shock. After a moment of catching his breath, the male beamed at you. 

“I’ve been winning for 2 months, can’t stop now. Have a good day, see you tomorrow!” 

You had never felt more shocked in your entire life, you felt your mouth drop open in disbelief. As he turned from you to go right on the street, to where you assumed he worked. You dashed to the corner and watched after him for a moment before calling out to him.

“I’m wearing track shoes tomorrow you hear! I’m not losing next time!” 

This prompted a melodious laugh from the male, he didn’t turn around to face you but you could almost imagine the smug smile that graced his face. You were gonna wipe it off tomorrow!

As you continued forward on your trek to work, you pulled out your phone and messaged Dongju.
