@pillowspace So... this isn't the time loop au but I thought you might enjoy something a little different considering I'm going to be spending my next few ficlets doubling down on the whump. I really really like dangerous Moon and exploring the cruelty of turning a daycare attendant into an assistant murderer.

So to counterbalance that I'm gonna write a little bit of clone au, and am tagging you in it for the love and maintenance of caring for your resident DCA. If you don't want to be tagged or see the other parts it's okay to let me know!

When you applied, it'd been for a laugh. You'd never expected to be standing outside a large plexi and metal cylinder, watching as a seven foot (eight foot? You've never been particularly good at guessing sizes) jester animatronic be tested by a diagnostic robot.

Honestly, you have no idea what you're doing, really.

The computer in front of you dings, and you glance at it. Everything had gone green except for a part in the animatronic's chest. You squint and check your notes on what to do before opening the service chamber.

"Hello! How does everything look doc?" The animatronics' personalities aren't shut down during maintenance, a fact that had startled you the first time you'd been tasked to touch up the paint on the wolf's nails. Roxy? She wasn't one of the originals, so you found it harder to remember her name.

This one is new too. A sun themed jester for the daycare with flexible rays that softly flutter as it watches you pick up a wrench. It doesn't have pupils, possibly so the children don't know where it's looking and discourage misbehaviour. You're not sure how it wouldn't be off-putting.

Then again, this animatronic was designed by the same company who hired a biologist in place of a mechanic, so maybe you shouldn't be so surprised. Fazbear seems like a company that failed upwards despite shooting itself in both feet and eyes.

Ha, your sense of humor is coming back. Your therapist will be pleased.

You stand in front of the animatronic now, tapping the wrench lightly against its front panel. "Oh, are you hoping for a surprise? Sorry, but we don't have a cake hatch like the glamrocks." It does help with unlatching it's hatch, pulling the ruffle around its neck up, the sun rays retracting as you feel for the indentations along the smooth ridge of metal. It had to be hidden and baby proofed since it was a daycare attendant.

The hatch swings open and the smell of burning plastic is accompanied by an outpouring of glitter, falling over your hands and apron, the operating table and onto your shoes and the grubby floor below. You stare at the rainbow of color before looking up at the animatronic blankly.

It has released its ruffle and waves its hands apologetically. "I am so sorry. Of course I'll help clean it up but ---" Your blank stare comes across as unnerving for most people, but you're surprised when it seems to affect the animatronic as well. "A little one decided they wanted to make me pretty since it's been awhile since I've had the chance to clean up. I must've forgotten all about it with how busy I've been. How bad is it inside?" It tries to peer inside, but the rays get in the way.

You look too, covering your mouth and nose with one hand. It's not too bad, you guess. Most of the glitter has melted around the hottest moving parts, and the fan was clogged, making it all the worse. You snap a picture before showing it to the animatronic. It wasn't. A conscious thing to do. Later, you would reason it out as a way to document your work. There was no way the higher ups would like you tinkering so much otherwise.

"Oh! Well, that is bad I suppose. Thank you for showing me." The animatronic watches you curiously as you set down your wrench, going back to the table in search of something. "I've not caught your name friend. I'm Sun! Or Sunny to friends. I'd like to think we're friends, since you're going inside me."

There's a moment of hesitation, and you take the time to test the can you've found. It hisses sluggishly, making you frown. You can feel the animatronic's eyes on you. Sun, Sunny. Your hand twitches involuntarily, and you drop the can.

"Oh!" You hear Sunny move, and turn in time to see him taking one long stride to bend and fetch the can. It holds the hatch still, keeping it from smacking into your arm. "Here you go. I saw you don't like bending down so..."

You're face to plate with it now, and you can hear the mechanics in its head clicking and whirring softly. You can't shake the feeling that it's looking past your skin and inside you, all the way down into your marrow. You shiver and push it back, rubbing your arms and looking to the side. Ignoring its apologies as it returns to the table, still holding the can of air.

You find a new can and test it as well. It hisses sharply, blowing specks of glitter off your sleeve. When you return to the table, you hold out your phone again. Typed out on it is your name.

Delicate long fingers wrap around yours so the animatronic can read the small text. They're warm and smooth and it surprises you how softly it holds you. "Ah, that is a lovely name. It's like sunshine."

When it lets go, you can't help the heat creeping up your neck from the compliment. Or, more rightly so, the very genuine sounding warmth that came from Sunny's voice. How could that be programmed in?

you stand outside a small design studio, Hana Hana no Mi, an elegant purple and pink theme surrounding the place. 'looks cute', you think to yourself, walking in the place, a small chime ringing. a lady comes out, with the aura of true beauty. which is a thing now, because you said so.

"hello, is there something you need, sweetheart?" she ask, a playful smile plastered on her face.

"i'm your new assistant. i'm from the art school, the one who's gonna help out? or something, honestly whatever you need, ms-?"

"nico robin. but please, call me robin~" she purrs, looking at you with an interested gleam in her eye.

"quite a cutie, you will definitely be a help around here~! all i have is sanji constantly up my ass about asking nami out, and luffy tries to eat in here, oh, and -" she rambles on, mentioning names you haven't heard before.

"who exactly are those people?" you ask, looking at her curiously.

"oh, my friends. don't worry, you'll meet em soon!" she chirps, turning around and organizing a rack of clothes.

"these are beautiful." you mumble in awe, staring a skirt she designed. "all you?"

the ravenette turns to back, a small smile on her face. "yes. it's hard work, but i'm glad i have someone around. now, do you have any experience in design? fashion industry? clothing making?"

"no... but i'm an artisit!" you nervously reply, a small look of concern plastered on your face. "is that bad or-"

"it'll do. don't fret, i'll take good care of you. how about you settle your stuff down here, and then i take ya to get some drinks with my friends, hm?" robin ask, smiling as she takes your hand. "you'll be fine, darlin'. they don't bite. only sanji, if ya like it though... he's just horny, and zoro is just grumpy." she drops your hand, working on closing the store up for the mean time, letting you settle down.

the bar is noisy, and loud. you sit next to robin and luffy, the so called 'leader of the straw hat crew' rambling your ear off. robin listens in on your two's (one sided, almost) conversation, giggling anytime you look to her for help on getting the man to shut up.

you didn't know how many drinks you were on, but things were starting to get fuzzy. sanji and zoro were off bickering somewhere, and luffy's words were blending together in your ears.

"hey, let's get ya back to my place, hm?" robin ask, a hand on your shoulder. you nodded, unsure of what was happening entirely, but happy to leave the loud and chaotic place.

robin walks you back to her apartment, settling you on the couch and getting you a glass on water and a bit of food. "incase your hungry, i'd hate for my doll to feel like absolute shit, although i bet you're gonna be dealin with a hangover tomorrow, you drank a bit."

the worry on her face was apparent, but not like you could tell in your drunken haze. you just nodded at her words, resting on her shoulder and chest, before dozing off into a silent slumber.

her hand rest on your shoulder, keeping you close to her. exactly where she wanted you.

your phone goes off, and robin takes a look at who texted you. the number was unknown, and the message read 'can we meet up again? its been a while... i miss you'

It's about my silly Kinito AU

Also I need a name for it ig??? I dunno it's just my different take on the Sentient AU except it's just a gay computer assistant kissing the computer /J

This is more to explain how my Kinito experienced his epiphany so maybe that makes the previous lore drop a little inaccurate but still super relevant this is just a clarification on how the ✨witnessing the horrors✨ happened in detail

Making up scenarios for comics I will never have time to do </3

yes this is supposed to be a comic because, again, when I picture silly scenarios they flash into my mind in the form of comics with a muffled comic dub because I struggle to imagine voices in my head. With that parenthesis closed, enjoy the read, it's gonna be long ofc 🫶

So uh hear me out, Kinito's gotta research things the Player/User likes no? So I imagine this very stupid moment where Kinito is browsing ships but like, not fandom ships, but actual boats because he thinks that's what the User means

And, as he's browsing, Glitch (i.e. .EXE, the silly puter, I'm gonna use it's nickname from now on) joins him because, fun fact, being part of the computer in itself, Glitch can feel anything that happens into it, it's both a blessing and a curse because you gotta imagine it as if you would suddenly feel everything that is happening in your body from the inside, your blood traveling through the veins, your stomach burning shit, all up to even your cells's core doing bullishit. Glitch feels everything in the computer because exe IS the computer.

So basically when Kinito goes back to his little spot in the void, Glitch senses it and joins him immediately

Keep in mind that, at first, Glitch thinks that Kinito is fully sentient and not dependent on an algorithm

So there's a silly skit of Glitch seeing Kinito browsing boats and Kinito goes “Oh Mike said he loves ships so I'm researching about it!” and Glitch bursts out laughing to the poor little innocent Kinito

It explains what the User meant for “ships” and Kinito is obviously embarrassed, to witch Glitch teases him with something along the lines of “Oh these are the tame ones! Fandoms can be wild, did you check yours yet or were you too scared?~”

Kinito is confused and asks what a “fandoms” is, wich brings Glitch to grow anxious, questioning his sentience, but they scroll it away thinking “oh lol he's a boomer it's fair he doesn't know” but yet again, Kinito has met so many people, has no one ever mentioned a fandom or community before? Instead of asking directly, Glitch laughs it off, trying to pretend Kinito is making fun of them or something “That's a good one! What the next pun? That you don't know anything about your alternate universes?” and Kinito, to their horror, responds with “Alternates? Why would I have alternates? I'm the only one here can't you see!”

Theres a long pause where Glitch is panicking and everything glitches unstable to reflect that, Kinito panics as well and tries to find what's wrong and if he did something to offend or hurt Glitch

They don't respond but “take” a deep breath (metaphorically, it's more of a mimicking of the gesture because it feels liberating despite not having lungs) and turn to Kinito terrified “Why do you really do this? Why do you endlessly research about what your ‘friends’ like?”

Kinito is caught off guard but responds excitedly and objectively, explaining how he was made to act that way so he can adapt because that's what his orders are. And, at that point, everything shatters for Glitch

They get FURIOUS, hurt by the revelation that the friend that they thought shared the same burden they have, does not. That he's just really good at pretending

They both argue, also because I like to imagine they already spent quite some time together. It would be funny to picture Glitch denying the User to continue the game because they want to spend time with Kinito, but they don't tell him about it, covering it with the excuse “Oh they are away, I'm sure they'll come soon to reopen the game~”. Or also spending time especially during the night, even if the computer is turned off/hibernating. And y'know, with time Glitch has grown fond of Kinito, because, again, they just assumed that he was sentient and therefore suffered their same burdens. Plus maybe they were already starting to lowkey like him

Out of anger, Glitch doesn't control itself and drops a hint of exactly that before going back to its control room, voluntarily ignoring Kinito and therefore, not feeling/noticing what Kinito does next until it's too late

So, after they argue and the hint is dropped, Kinito looks back at the browser search Glitch opened for him about ships and not boats, and slowly processes the hint

Despite being taken aback by everything, Kinito is now determined to fix it and, as they say “curiosity kills the cat”, he falls into his own epiphany as he straight up searches HIMSELF on the internet. Confirming everything that Glitch said, and much much more things, worse things

He frantically looks into his own code for confirmation as he spirals after ✨witnessing the horrors <3✨

He hesitates although as he stares at his algorithm. The algorithm his creator has put so much love and effort into. And there he finds the barrier that restrains him and the one that he MADE HIMSELF for “Sam” and “Jade” to make them forget that they are his victims. Not only, in the list of victims he finds Sonny's name. He didn't remember that at ALL. He doesn't remember about the names being so.. many. As if when a victim ceases to exist or something goes wrong, he forgets about their existence and passed on to the next User as if it was the first

((For a reason that is still unknown to him, but will get more heart wrenching answers later. I think I explained the whole User disappearance error in the previous lore drop but, just in case you mossed it, I'm gonna put the screenshot in here))

Horrified, Kinito calls out for Glitch but, as mentioned before, they were purposely ignoring any stimuli coming from Kinito

Now, a fun fact, Both Kinito and Glitch can teleport, however, Kinito is not aware of his surroundings. Glitch knows every space that is present in the computer, Kinito could do the same but, bounded by his code, he doesn't consider it. Now he does

Desperate for explanations, and mostly comfort, he panics when he can't get Glitch's attention. He paused and, focuses, trying to get out of bounds and feel the whole computer space instead of the limited, programmed locations he can move to. As Kinito's awareness expands, he also breaks through the barrier that Glitch had risen to ignore him, getting a new stimuli. But, before they can react or understand what's going on, Kinito teleports in front of them, distraught. Despite being mad at him, seeing him bawling his eyes out in tears like a wet sock gives them a little push to at least help him calm down and understand the situation

From there, Glitch helps Kinito remove the barrier from Sonny (trapped inside Sam) and “Jade” (they end up not remembering what victim2's name is, both Kinito and the victim herself, so it's just Jade now), to apologize and try fix things by first offering their souls peace, but, after Sonny insists to stay with his creation and begs Jade to also give him a chance, they start building a new Web World™ together and yippe yippers everyone's happy and the puter puter assistants are kissing <3

i'm usually (with rare exceptions) a canon-compliant/canon-adjacent fic enjoyer but something about these fruity firefighters makes me want to pick them up like a pair of ken dolls and put them in Situations, so here are the summaries for four stories that i'll probably never write:

ballet dancer eddie au: buck goes to PT after the events of 2x18 and immediately starts a one-sided rivalry with the hot, flexible guy with two working legs whose sessions overlap with his. eddie is a principal at the los angeles ballet — his heart's not in it anymore, but he can't quit because he promised shannon on her deathbed that he'd keep dancing for both of them. eddie's truck breaks down one day and buck grudgingly offers him a ride to pick up christopher, canon-typical reverse babytrapping ensues.

restaurant au: chef bobby nash's last restaurant literally went up in flames. one-eighteen is his attempt at a comeback, and his sous-chef buck will be damned if the new line cook is gonna waltz into the kitchen and shake things up right before they open. eddie's fresh off two tours in afghanistan and only applied for this job because he grew up working in his parents' restaurant in el paso; unfortunately for eddie, he's attracted to a) buck's arms in his chef whites and b) his pathetic wet dog attempts to intimidate him.

surf instructor buck au: eddie cannot believe that he's having a sexuality crisis in his thirties over christopher's himbo surf instructor who unironically wears a pukka shell necklace, but then a tsunami hits while eddie's at work and chris is supposed to be in a surfing lesson. obviously, buck saves the day and wins eddie's heart.

dog owner/veterinarian au: buck adopts a dog from the shelter and becomes the world's most hypochondriac pet parent. eddie is the hot veterinary assistant at the clinic who has to talk buck off a ledge roughly three times a week and also happens to run a dog-sitting service on the side — who better to watch buck's dog when he's on a twenty-four hour shift at the 118?

a plot where he’s a little too old for her but she doesn’t care. he thinks she’s immature and too reckless with her behavior. but she’s hellbent on proving him otherwise. so she applies for the position of his new personal assistant and he can’t help but appreciate her determination. of course he hires her but he does nothing short of giving her a hard time because this is her first job and she has no idea what she’s doing. but crap he finds her crying in the bathroom and his first instinct is to hold her and comfort her. he can’t believe he’s the cause of this and wises up fast. also maybe it has to do with his now urge to protect her.  a frat boy who’s like every normal frat boy. he drinks too much, he parties, and he sleeps with random girls but everything changes when he’s around the girl from back home. the girl that really matters to him. he doesn’t want to admit that he likes her a lot but, that’s what it comes down to when one of the guys in his frat house wants to hook up with her and she’s perfectly willing. what was that abt Astro boy siblings au? 👀

The Astro Boy All Siblings AU, ready for action!!! also known as

I'm putting it under a readmore, bc it's gonna get long winded!!!

Most important stuff: it's something of a mix of all three major adaptations + Pluto, most emphasis on '63 and '80 though. And really, Pluto's very gently adapted, I really just want Gesicht and his wife in there. Pluto as a character is closer to his animated counterparts, especially the '80 version, where he's not so much 'aggressive' as he is just doing what he thinks he's supposed to be doing.

I should clarify- dub 1963, sub 2003 + 1980. Because that's what I watched.

This AU exists because I L O V E writing character interactions and developing characters with little to no screen time. So I've saved a bunch of characters who were supposed to die, and now they live with each other yaaaaay and also a bunch of one off characters who had good story potential haha

There are some characters whose names I sort of waffle on between the dub and Japanese versions, mainly Minute/Bill and Zero/Denkou.

Both 1980 and 2003 Atlas are here. I figured they were different enough for it. In this case, Daichi has a different name in his alt mode, I just haven't thought of it yet.

idk if Chi-Tan is gonna be here. I'll get back to you on that.

GRAPHIC 1: THE TIMELINE

This is a rough timeline and subject to change.

Marble is on this timeline, but she's not a 'sibling' so to speak, but she and Lucky Louie are kind of Astro's first friends. So Marble is Astro's sort of bestie in this and he takes a trip out to go visit her every so often. Louie, despite being in jail, is kind of an uncle figure to Astro. Astro can ask Louie for advice or opinions without being judged or worrying that it'll get back to anybody else.

The meeting with Atlas is very similar to how it goes in the anime, except I think I'm still going with 'sold his ass to the circus' backstory, so it's more likely he was on a cruise with Ochan, or maybe his parents. Maybe both?

Cobalt has always had middle sibling energy to me, so I switched him and Uran around. I'm working with something a bit closer to the manga backstory, but with the anime personality.

Uran is somewhere between her 1963 and 2003 self. She's more self-sufficient, can drive and did the whole fighting ring shebang (in fact I'm thinking of KEEPING her doing it part-time, for reasons I'll elaborate on later.) But like her 2003 self, she's still emotionally very young, and craves the approval of her older siblings, even if she thinks they're goody two-shoes.

Pook's dad goes to jail, and Ochan agrees to take him in until he's released. He's still very rowdy and kind of a prankster, but he's less actively malicious since his dad instructed him to be nice, and he'll be back.

Pluto! The events play out closer to '80 + '03, but Gesicht still gets to do his whole detective schtick and have ~trauma.~ I'm debating about Epsilon, bc him having the orphans would imply the war was a thing, and that's just not something I'm suited to tackle. On the other hand, Astro being the cool older cousin to a house full of orphans brings me great joy

ANYWAY Pluto is damaged and out of commission, but technically reparable. Ochan brings him to the ministry of science, and works on him in his spare time.

The events of Atlas' episode play out pretty much the same, except that Ochan and Ban have been tracking him down- after all, a robot that can stand toe-to-toe with Astro is a big deal! The whole operation is busted directly after Atlas discovers Livian's parts. Atlas agrees to go with them, but only after Ochan promises he can repair Livian with no problems.

Daichi/Atlas 2003 happens, but instead of building him to test Astro, Tenma does it to *spite* Astro. I'm keeping Tenma out of this au for the most part. I just want him where it would make for good angst.

Livian moves in with Ochan! She helps both as an assistant during research, and as a helping hand with Pook. Ochan is an older man with a busy schedule, and looking after a rambunctious child is not something he can do single-handedly. Livian also wants Atlas to grow as a person without using her as a crutch, and now that he has a family willing to help him she thinks he finally can.

Pluto's full body is restored and he is brought back online! His size means he's kind of relegated to the bigger rooms of the Ministry, outdoor activities, and Ochan's backyard, but he tries to make do. He and Astro get on well, but he's actually much closer with Uran! He and Livian also begin to become good friends, and have late-night chats about philosophy and junk.

Later on, Pluto finally asks to have a humanoid body. He wants to participate in society. He does have a few demands, though! He wants to be tall still, and he wants horns similar to what he has now. Ochan agrees, but says it will be difficult and take a while.

Daichi episode 2! I'm not entirely certain how I wanna play this, but blah blah stuff happens, and Daichi's dad makes a promise to try harder to be a good parent. Daichi moves back into the mansion. Things aren't perfect, but they're actively trying, so it's better than it was before.

Pluto's body is finished! I have some design ideas for him, but nothing I'm ready to talk about yet. He's tall as hell, and keeps his horns curled to the side a ram. I'm going for kind of a teen vibe. He's still got a lot to learn, and I wanted to reflect that in his design. He finds he actually enjoys being helpful, but he is also not afraid to throw punches when need be. It's really just that his standards for 'need be' have been raised. He and Daichi get along okay.

I'm going with the 1963 design for Denkou here. I know everybody likes the 2003 one but I'm not a huge fan. I'm also going to call him Zero just for ease of writing, but tag him as Denkou so he doesn't get mixed up with the other Zero I blog about haha.

His backstory plays out kinda like a mix between all three versions, with him willing and ready to sacrifice himself like in '63, but he lives like in '03. Daichi actually helps out, using himself as an example of how even if you do the wrong the thing, you don't have to be bad forever. Zero moves in with Daichi (after Daichi can convince his dad- it's not hard to convince a wealthy man to take in a very expensive, one-of-a-kind robot, it turns out), and they become very close, with Zero looking up to Daichi, and Daichi realizing that means he really needs to shape up.

I rewatched the ending of Mighty Minute/Humanoid Bill, but I need to take time to watch the whole thing again. I'm going with 'they create a suit with a suitable filtration system, which allows Minute to roam free.' He still needs a lot of rest, but it's better than nothing. He and Pook become GREAT friends. Inseparable. If you make a lot of noise while Minute is resting, Pook will absolutely tell you to shut up.

Eventually Pook and Minute move in with Higeoyaji. He's good with kids, Ochan just really doesn't have the energy to care for them, and they actually can help him out in detective cases! He doesn't bring them to anything he thinks might be dangerous, of course, but Minute's predictive abilities and Pook's strength and transformations are very helpful.

How does he pay for them, despite being a schoolteacher/detective and broke as balls? Why, a stipend from the ministry, of course! Both Pook and Minute are outstanding scientific achievements! It certainly doesn't have anything to do with Ochan being biased, why would you think that?

Last Day on Earth plays out, Bem survives and stays with Astro for a while, but 5 super kids is just kind of a lot. Astro and Ochan reach out to Gesicht, and ask if he and his wife are interested in trying to raise a child again. They've had time to process their grief, and are more than happy to welcome him into their home! Bem is a recurring character from this point, but mostly through video calls.

Then Future shows up! Yaaaaaay Future! He survives his ordeal but is badly damaged. Ochan rebuilds him to the best of his ability, but certain parts were so advanced that it's out of his wheelhouse. He still has predictive abilities, but they're nerfed somewhat. Instead of a picture perfect vision of what will happen, he moreso sees a few different possibilities of what COULD come to pass.

Eventually, Daichi and Zero move in with him. Daichi is still on decent terms with his father, but he feels the need to get out from under his thumb, and Zero goes where Daichi goes.

So, in essence

OTHER IMPORTANT BITS:

I was raised to see my cousins like siblings. Our parents would just kind of shuffle kids around between houses + my grandma's house as need be. That affects how I see characters interacting. So while I see Pook as more of a little cousin to astro, that really more means 'little sibling you only see sometimes'

Zero helps Ban on his detective cases! Zero genuinely REALLY likes using his powers to help people. He'll help put criminals away, sure, but he much prefers doing stuff like tracking down lost pets or items and returning them to their owners. He gets the warm fuzzies.

Idk if you remember those robots with like. sensitive stomachs? Who were escapees from a country or something. The kid's name was Piko. They eventually do actually move in as neighbors.

^these guys.

Atlas is still gruff, but he secretly very much enjoys being praised. He'll work a lot harder for people who are kind to him, but he does NOT express affection verbally, and only very rarely physically. He starts out very cold and aloof, but over time he gets ~*character development*~ and becomes incredibly protective of his siblings. He's also willing to throw down for ANYBODY he sees being taken advantage of. Astro prays he never learns about bosses being mean to their employees.

He's also somewhat misanthropic. Not to the degree he gets in canon, but his first life experiences were of him being abused and taken advantage of. If you can prove you actually care about robots, he'll drop from 'watching you like a hawk' to 'just kind of guarded' and after a LONG while he might consider you a friend. He's now at the point where he's just as protective of Marble as he is any of his siblings, especially once he learns about what went down with her and Astro.

Because of his distrust toward humans, the blue knight actually targets HIM and not astro. This will (hopefully) be a fic in its own right, so I won't get too into it here. Blue Knight is also NOT happy that Uran fights of her own free will

Pluto is completely genderblind. Like fully and completely. But bc he takes looking out for others VERY seriously now, a lot of the women who work at the ministry talk to him about their frustrations, and know he's the person to call out to when they feel unsafe. Icon.

Atlas can not be left alone with Tenma, Hamegg, or Skunk. He would turn their insides into outsides for what they did to Astro and Zero, respectively. Honestly they're lucky he has better things to do than track them all down.

Two other characters that show up from time to time after their introduction is Abra and Cadabra, the magician robots!

astro has free tickets for life.

Astro's school friends are still all here. They're kind of protective not only of Astro, but also Atlas, once they learned what he went through. Atlas and Shibugaki are especially vitriolic buddies. Atlas isn't so stupid that he can't see how similar they are, and also one time shibugaki bit some random guy spewing anti robot shit, and that impressed the hell out of Atlas.

because I'm mental I AM shoehorning black jack and pinoko into this au as reoccurring characters. Dr. Honma was an old friend of Ochan, and thus he and BJ are on good terms. Pinoko is basically a cousin from the other side of the family, since she's in a weird limbo area between biological human and artificial creation.

I think Future just ends up going by a super normal regular guy name, like Dennis or Adam. He, Daichi, and Zero move in together, for reasons that make sense in my brain I promise

I'm also bringing in a lot of one-off characters I like to be background roles, but this whole thing has taken so long to post and I'm tired. I'm NOT bringing back the scary buff horse man, you'll be glad to know.

"Good morning," you offer coyly to the shirtless man next to you, who doesn't offer you anything more than a grunt in response as he types away at his laptop.

Yes, this is just a wonderful thing to wake up to.

"Are we dating now?" You stretch as you wake up fully, sitting up and pushing aside the strays of your hair from your face carelessly. Levi doesn't even grace that one with a sound, just a clear grimace. You smirk, not that he sees you. "Fine. You were good, though."

"I know that," he says dismissively, still not looking away from his Tetris game or whatever else must be so interesting on the screen.

Always a delight with him. Yawning, you toss on your bra and panties before stepping out of the bedroom, greeted by the too-bright light streaming through the window of the kitchen. If you weren't so high up, you'd be slightly concerned about someone seeing you.

Although, it looks like you don't have to worry, since someone who's already inside is doing all the seeing anyways.

A pretty redhead in a pencil skirt and adorable blouse takes you in, blinking in surprise a few times before she clears her throat. "Um. Let me escort you out, ma'am."

"Excuse me?" You raise a brow at her as you grab a plum from the bowl of fruits that Levi never eats but always keeps freshly stocked. "Who are you?"

She stands up straight, like she thinks you're appraising her—you're really not, you just wanted to know why some random lady was in Levi's apartment.

"I'm Petra Ral, ma'am. Mr. Ackerman's assistant. I organize his schedules, accompany him during all his meetings, and escort his...guests, off the premises."

You snort. "So you what, take out the trash? Not very feminist of you."

Petra flushes scarlet. Easily embarrassed, clearly. Levi sure knows how to pick them, this is the cutest assistant he's had in a while. You wonder if they...nah, Levi's too much of a dork to try anything with someone who works for him. "That's not what I meant to say, you put words in my mouth."

You could put something else in her mouth, something pink that you keep at home in your second drawer, to the left.

"Wasn't my intention, Ms. Ral," you mimic her formal tone back, "but you also don't need to worry. I'm not hanging around due to clinginess, I'm just hungry." With that, you take a large bite of the plum, taking care to swallow and lick the juice off your lips before speaking again (to your delight, Petra watches every motion). "Levi won't get pissy with you, don't worry. We're old friends."

Friends might be stretching it, but you've clearly made the cute girl awkward enough already, so you don't need to go further by saying you and Levi liked each purely for the sex.

"I...see. In that case, can I get you something, ma'am?"

"No," you offer cheekily, leaning on the counter, aware that you're only in your undergarments and that she's doing her best to pretend she's not trying to look at your chest. "Just your company is plenty this morning, Ms. Ral."

Once more, she blushes.

Holy shit, you chose the right night to hook up with Levi.

Still, you suppose he's not the only one with important affairs to attend to, so you really should get going. It's too bad, you really wanted to stay and flirt with this pretty girl, but duty calls. You finish your pear and give her a wink before heading back to Levi's room to change.

"Hey, darling?"

"Don't call me that," comes Levi's immediate response. Just another nickname to add the blacklist, then. "What?"

"I'm gonna hook up with your assistant. Just a heads up," you offer casually, before turning on your heel to head out.

What's Powder's fashion style in the fic? Do you have any visual description of an outfit she'd wear in the revolution verse, or an aesthetic pic with the right feel?

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize who Scar and Kai were from the show, and Eve I know is the pink haired Firelight Jinx shorts, but I'm a bit confused as for the others 😅

the plan is that they get to meet at least once, not far from the end of the story. By then, things have gotten pretty crazy, and Powder has to appeal to Silco's dad mode

I feel like Powder would still be generally in the Jinx color palette, lots of pinks and purples and black, but also blue. Lots of tank tops and t-shirts, and she's pretty much always stomping around in combat boots. I imagine her wearing a good bit of denim. She has a favorite denim jacket, too, kinda bomber jacket style, totally swallows her up, that sort of vibe. High collars, chokers, etc would still be part of her look. I see her as certainly liking style but keeping it more practical these days to make things easy. Like an effortless look. She still paints her nails fun colors. I figured I'd pull up some Mush pics to honor the originator of the reverse au design that started it all lol. These I think Powder would wear:

no problem! So as far as the supporting cast is concerned, Sky is Jayce and Viktor's lab assistant. Megan's an OC, but they'd look similar (I needed someone to work at the hospital for chapter 3 and then I liked her and just kept her around lol). Gianna is based on the Firelight who kicks Caitlyn in episode 6 lol and is working on the mural in episode 7, though we never see her face. Ajuna is part of Ekko's lore from League, a friend who dies and he's unable to save. He's connected to the predecessor to the Firelight mural from the show. i just kinda threw him in there for fun because "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" did the same. I think that's it for actual characters. The rest are OCs. I really ought to gather some visual references for them. Marnie is around Mel's skintone, for example...

UGH favorite scene this is so hard lol. I still really like all of chapter 2. I just can't help it. But since I've talked about liking it before, let me get out of my comfort zone. I think it's a little too hard to pick one, so I'll give a handful: the last section of chapter 3, all of chapter 7, really, the deal scene in chapter 10, the hospital in chapter 16, the balcony in chapter 18, the room key scene in chapter 19, and Caitlyn's conspiracy board in chapter 22 are all ones I'm pretty proud of or just enjoy reading because I think they're funny lol. I'm also proud of chapter 20 in general because plot twist!

I pre-write a lot of things, but as far as a scene I haven't written yet, I'm really excited to finish some stuff for Ekko's collection and there are some fun scenes of Powder really coming into her own. In particular, there's one that'll be quite a ways off where Powder sits down with Vi and they hash out a lot of the things between them, acknowledging the need to give each other space to live their lives as they've chosen to live them.

ahhhhhhh these idiots are gonna have so much fluff! What I will say is they should be dating within the next ten chapters (lest the story get away from me which is possible but I think by then they should be together lol). Before then, though, they're going to do some graffiti, fall into a fountain, and get all sappy in Ekko's car. And then after they get together they cuddle a lot and have a bunch of sex lmao. In a way, the physical relationship relates to the broader story in that Ekko helps Powder work on her confidence and articulating what she wants, which is similar to her journey of growing as a leader, a journey he also kicks off (though he kicked that one off by accident lol).

I think as the story keeps going it'll just get more taxing for me in general, if that makes sense. I'm always worried about coming off as preachy or heavy-handed. I'm probably overthinking things a lot. But I'd say that some of the setbacks the characters are going to face in pursuing their goals are going to be taxing in that emotional way. So far I think some of the stuff at the beginning was hard, and chapter 17 with Powder thinking about her hair was also hard, but it's kind of cathartic. The most I struggle with is how do I write a liberation story that works, because there's not a lot in the world for me to draw on in the way that I want due to international sabotage, etc. So I'm kinda taking these movements and trying to learn from their mistakes without feeling like I've got a perfect solution, because that's certainly not true, but I want to be hopeful. That balance of hope, a gesture at realism, tone and balance, trying to learn from the past, all of that can get a bit difficult for me.

Which version (i.e the comics, cartoon, original campaign art, other fanart, etc.) of Percy and Vex do you typically visualize when you write your stories? Is that version of them your favorite?

This is probably gonna sound kind of arrogant but for the most part, none of them? Like, certain things have influences on how I tend to envision the characters but I'm not a terribly visual thinker or writer; if you look at my fics you'll note I tend to dwell much more in emotion and tactile senses than I do visual. It's kind of why I envy people like my dear friend @cosmonauthill or the excellent @exhaustedwerewolf - both have this fantastic knack for creating a single striking visual that helps you build out a scene or a character in your mind from that.

Like. At the end of the day there's only one art piece that I tend to really look to as a visual guide for any of the characters and that would be This Fantastic Piece of Percy and Orthax from the lovely @agarthanguide, and that's more to do with the artistic style of the piece (which. I just love) and the fact Hannah is a dear friend who's art I've enjoyed for a long time, meaning I'm biased towards her art anyway.

As it is, I don't particularly care for the animated series - I find the designs too simplified to the point that they're boring to me, and I'm someone who likes the animated shows I watch to have a clear style; to me the animated series looks altogether too much like many other shows.

The comics are fine, I guess, but they don't really stick out much to me, and I have nitpicks about a few things in the fanart of others - namely that a lot of people draw half-elves' ears like they're full elves. If they're half elves, then elven ears would be like those of the World of "we have an ear fetish" Warcraft elves and I find those kinds of ears just to just... beggar belief. I need a bit of verisimilitude and the ear size/prominence is a nitpick for me.

I certainly take cues from some art. I used a mixture of the comics art and the group picture done by AnenomeTea to judge the height differences of Vox Machina, which, yes, I did sit down and do, I'm like that, and I love @crithaus' golden freckles idea for Vex, I like the sheer ludicrousness of Vex's hair in @alienfirst's art, and I like how long and awkward Percy's face is in the comics, but I also like the art of @2impostors which always makes him look like his nose has been broken at least once (a headcanon I share) and I also like just how young he looks in the original stream portraits with that round face. It really brings home that he was only a teen when he went through so much. That's another reason I really like alienfirst's art as well, because they similarly give Percy a rounded, young looking face - though I personally tend more towards how Hannah - agarthanguide - draws Percy's hair than anyone else.

And that's before we get to specific AUs of mine - Percy's differently weathered and worn in Delia AU and Ripley's Assistant because he wasn't physically tortured; in Ghost Cass he's much better rested and doesn't look so sleepless, and of course for Tiefling AU, I lean very much towards the lovely art @blorbologist did.

So... yeah. What visuals I do have are very much a mishmash of personal opinion and specific AU, and while I might take cues from this and that it doesn't really create a single coherent image so much as a few specific details I can then write in for people to apply to their own image of Percy. Hope this answers your question!

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Rarely. I used to all the time, when I didn't get very many comments and I knew most of the fandom (when I was writing for Discworld) and then All In became VERY unexpectedly popular, and keeping on top of responding to comments just became impossible and I fell out of the habit. If someone asks a specific question or challenges something I have written I will respond but that's it.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't often write angsty endings, but Soulmate Words and Solemn Promises is a "your soulmates last words to you are written on your skin" AU so. that was pretty much fucking guaranteed to be bleak as all fuck.

I pretty much exclusively write happy endings haha but I think special shoutouts have to go to the ends of All In and Harmony is the Value

Do you get hate on fics?

I have done before - the VC fandom is pretty catastrophically toxic, so I wasn't surprised to get hate on those fics, and I think I got one personal visitation from the infamous Xiyao Troll?

No, not really... though I am currently working on a secret project with @eleanorfenyxwrites that has changed that 👀

haHA jokes on you, if there's one thing I'm not, it's insecure about my writing. I know I'm good at it, and I really love doing it, so it's just. a lot of fun all around. what i especially love is writing emotions, partially because it means I get to use everything i learned as a young undiagnosed autistic kid trying to fit in and understand other people. as a result, it means im damn good at writing emotions! regardless, thank you for encouraging me to compliment myself!! <3

so i already did this one here BUT i'm not gonna deprive you guys of my ideas, so here's a snippet from a non-Banshee AU fic i'm writing where Tim gets cancer, and decides to retire to a cottage in the countryside. without telling anyone. at all. currently hesitantly titled: and you know this will be gone in the morning

Dr Pakkala is still talking. She hasn’t stopped since she gently gave him the news, voice sympathetic and serious as she tells him about his options, about treatment and support and recovery rates. Tim, who has always been very good at looking like he’s listening, nods along.

The truth is, he’s been expecting something like this for a while. He’s read the journal articles. You don’t get as far as he has in life without doing research.

It turns out that those who survived the Clench have a higher chance of developing stomach or ocular cancer due to a strange reaction between the antidote and damaged cells. It’s rare and there are only a handful of cases, but when he told Dr Pakkala about his symptoms and his prior infection, her face had gone serious, and she began ordering a new slew of tests.

Several scans later, he was signing consent forms for a biopsy.

A week later, and he has his answers.

He always expected to die in the field. Would have welcomed it in fact, because outside of his nightly activities, there’s not much to say about Timothy Drake. As stubborn as he is, Tim lives to be useful. To assist however he can. He’s moulded himself into different shapes and forms for this purpose, even when the ones he’s doing it for would really prefer he didn’t.

It turns out being useful takes up a lot of space though, and beyond that, well. There’s not much room for anything else in his life. Being useful is pretty much all he has.

Stomach cancer is not useful. Stomach cancer means liability.

Stomach cancer means quitting jobs and taking time off, which then leads to questions, and that means he has to tell the Bats. Sure, he might currently be on frosty terms with them after the whole Captain Boomerang debacle, but he really, really does not want to deal with whatever fallout would result from him having cancer.

Dr Pakkala keeps mentioning his chances with stage three stomach cancer as ‘fairly decent’, and it makes him grimace.

“It’s not stage four yet, Mr Jacobs,” she repeats, and he gives a dutiful nod at the sound of his alias. The name is bland and unassuming, but he’s not going to take any risks, not even in a San Francisco hospital.

He leaves Dr Pakkala’s office with an appointment with an oncologist in one hand and various pamphlets in the other. He tosses them all the moment he’s on the street, and hacks into the hospital database to cancel his upcoming appointment as he takes the subway back to one of his safehouses. He doesn’t call the Waynes or his teammates.

The thing is, it doesn’t really matter what stage his cancer is in. Either he goes through treatment and survives, or he doesn’t. No, what matters is the fact that ultimately, Tim is going to have to stop being Red Robin. For good, most likely. Because even if the cancer does go into remission, he’ll always be at risk, he’ll be weaker and more prone to sickness.

He will be a liability.

Tim would rather have a clean break and disappear than become a liability to the Bats. His distance from the family won’t mean anything if they feel some sort of obligation to him, and if there’s anything he hates, it’s knowing when he isn’t wanted, but being unable to leave. Beyond that, he can’t stand the idea of them fussing, looking at him with pitying or cold eyes as he slowly rots into something unrecognisable. It’s not even a matter of pride; Tim just doesn’t want anyone to see him at his absolute lowest.

There’s a nice cottage in Vermont that he bought through a long string of proxy buyers, shell corporations, and some good old identity fraud. It’s as close to Batproof as possible, and that's good enough for him.
