This is probably going to be a jumble of words right now because I can’t seem to get my head into gear today. 😅
I remember in school, I’d spend a lot of time in the library, flicking through various books, reading their contents and absorbing it all. One of the books happened to be an English study book filled with literary quotes from various sources, and I remember one of the quotes standing out. At the time, I didn’t know where it was from, as for whatever reason, where the quotes came from was never included.
“The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.”
I remember thinking, as soon as I first read it, that I could imagine the people/characters that it could maybe be written about and the stories that they had from their lives. I never wrote any of my ideas down but I spent several weeks immersed in this imagined world of mine, filled with all these interesting, intriguing people (at least to me).
I was about 13 when I first came across this quote in the library but it took until my early 20’s to finally find where it was from, as I began my first read of, On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
It was from this book! I had by then, forgotten (almost) about the quote but reading it again, all those ideas and memories came flooding back. It was great!
A few months on and I come across this film that intrigued me, it’s 2016 and it was called, Touched with Fire. However, for whatever reason, I didn’t or couldn’t watch it, so I added it to my To Watch list and went on my way.
Turn to now, 2022 and I’m a big fan of the tv show, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (where they actually mention the book and Jack in an episode) and I decide to watch some of the previous work of a certain actor in the show (😉🥰), and one of those projects just so happened to be, Touched with Fire.
So, after I finished watching it, I decided to look up interviews and such and I came across this acceptance speech, where, what do you know? At the very end, that same quote is mentioned.

I had a big smile on my face as he said it and to me at least, it summed up the characters played by both Katie and Luke very well. 🖤

Favorite Color: Pink, preferably a dusky pink or red.
Currently Reading: I call myself a reader but I haven’t finished or read anything in a long time (can’t get my head to concentrate well enough). Currently got both On The Road by Jack Kerouac and Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh partly of the way through as audiobooks but haven’t listened to them in a while either.
Last Song: It’s either Love Goes On and On by Lindsay Stirling featuring Amy Lee (which I’m so happy with this collab, since I love them both and have thought for years and years, that they need to work together…even if it’s in my mind) or Help Me Mama by ZZ Ward (one of my favourite artists). <- I wrote all the previous stuff a while ago, as I’ve had this post in my queue for two weeks, so I’ll say the last song I listened to, was probably Style by Taylor Swift because of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel fandom and Midge and Lenny. 💖💙 The other was probably Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge because for whatever reason, my mind remembered that scene from American Horror Story. 🖤🩸🧛‍♀️🧛
Last Series: If you mean currently watching, then Community. I never watched it when it originally aired, though I’ve been interested in watching it for a while. Also, I’ve been rewatching Mad Men with my household. If you’re meaning the last completed watch to the very last episode so far aired, then that’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I’ll be sad when it’s over tbh. 💝
Last Movie: Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. It was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. I actually cried!
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Oh, definitely sweet. When my mum was expecting me, all she craved was sweets and mint toothpaste. I have a very big sweet tooth and I like minty things.
Currently Working On: I haven’t written anything, fan-fiction or original in a long time but I did have an original thing going on at some point and I’m trying to get my confidence up to actually begin it, once more, with earnest. I even made a blog here on tumblr, that was to help me with my original story and my confidence in writing it. Was trying to make it so I wouldn’t get bogged down in my head and to just have fun making posts and such, to help me on my way to completing the work.
