OBEY ME ZODIAC SIGNS

I mentioned in this post that I had opinions about this & @impish-ivy left a tag saying she’d like to know my thoughts on it. And as we all know, a single tag is all it takes! So here I am!

Lemme start by giving you my qualifications… I have none. Unless you count growing up with a hippie for a mom who was really into the zodiac & astrology so I spent all my life hearing about it. And I mean she’d read books to me on the topic. She also taught me quite a bit about the tarot and I could get into some symbolism there, too, but let's save that for a different post. (Not me assigning each character a card from the Major Arcana.)

Nowadays I mostly use it to help me remember the birthdays I choose for my OCs lol. It's fun to think about for character creation. But in the end, this is all just my opinion based on what I know of the zodiac! It's all just for fun~

For quick reference, I am going to list the zodiac signs, their symbols, their associated element, and their date ranges.

Aries | The Ram | Fire | March 21 - April 19

Taurus | The Bull | Earth | April 20 - May 20

Gemini | The Twins | Air | May 21 - June 20

Cancer | The Crab | Water | June 21 - July 22

Leo | The Lion | Fire | July 23 - August 22

Virgo | The Virgin | Earth | August 23 - September 22

Libra | The Scales | Air | September 23 - October 22

Scorpio | The Scorpion | Water | October 23 - November 21

Sagittarius | The Archer | Fire | November 22 - December 21

Pisces | The Fish | Water | February 19 - March 20

Please Note: I do take the cusp into consideration. When someone is born on the cusp, it means they were born on a day that is on the cusp of two signs. For example, someone born on April 19 would be considered on the cusp of Aries and Taurus. This means they can have some traits of the sign they're on the cusp of. I think of it as a date range. So in the above example, I would consider April 17 - April 22 the cusp range of Aries and Taurus. The Aries traits would be stronger on the Aries side and the Taurus traits are strong on the Taurus side. I will sometimes refer to this as being a "cuspie" because lol it's cute, right?

Okay let’s get into it because I can tell they did not consider the characters' astrological signs at all when they chose their birthdays.

LUCIFER: JUNE 6 - GEMINI

Now obviously his birthday was meant to be a reference to 666. Since it's 6/6 and all. But that cute little reference also makes him a Gemini. A GEMINI. (Hi hello, actual Gemini here, there is just no way.) Gemini is an air sign that's known for being good at communication, artistic, flighty, and easily bored. Does any of that sound like Lucifer to you? There is no way a Gemini would ever be caught dead at a factory tour, okay? (I would, but I'm also a cuspie so I got just enough Taurus in me to be interested in a factory tour lol.)

I say he should have been a Cancer. Now before you come at me and say what Lucifer as a weepy Cancer you can't be serious, don't you mean he should've been a prideful Leo? No. Because Leos also like being the center of attention. If Lucifer was a Leo, he would absolutely thrive on Diavolo's constant compliments. Lucifer is a crab and we all know it! Hard exterior, putting on that prideful and competent persona, but soft and squishy inside. Only weepy in private, but secretly longs to weep. LOL. Also? Intense mood swings because of overwhelming feelings. And also also? Family obsessed. Will kill for those they love.

MAMMON: SEPTEMBER 10 - VIRGO

As hilarious as it is to consider that Mammon is the Virgin, there is no way. Mammon as an earth sign at all is silly enough, but add in the fact that Virgos are practical and perfectionists and I'm just like… not this guy lol. I think Virgos can also be a bit shy at first too. And like you could say Mammon acts like he doesn't like you at first because he's secretly shy, but I think it's more about damaging his cool guy rep.

No, I think Mammon should've been a Gemini. Flighty air sign. Easily bored. But with a wild imagination that can come up with, you guessed it, schemes. In his case money making schemes. They also like to be aware of the trends, always looking at the new shiny things. Geminis are smart, but not always good at applying their smarts. The other thing about Geminis? They're deeply emotionally intelligent, but you can't always tell right away. This is why they're kinda known for the whole "two faced" thing (which is not really accurate tbh). They have a light and airy and fun personality on top, but underneath they can be serious and understand the needs of others. And once you befriend them, they are ride or die.

LEVIATHAN: APRIL 9 - ARIES

Absolutely not. An Aries is a bold fire sign, they're courageous, assertive, and a natural leader. That is like the exact opposite of Levi.

I honestly had a difficult time deciding what I think Levi's sign should be. But in the end, I settled on Virgo. Mostly because Virgos can be neurotic and end up worrying themselves into disorder and that sounds more like Levi than anything else. I also think the practicality and perfection can apply when considering how carefully Levi pursues his hobbies. He's always on top of when things are happening, displays his merch meticulously, and cares about all the little details.

SATAN: OCTOBER 20 - LIBRA

Uhhh sooooo I mean…. listen, the main thing about Libras, in my opinion, is that they are super friendly. They like having a large group of friends. And like Satan has connections, but I'm not sure if that's really the same thing. He's been known to isolate himself for days just to read without stopping. Like that does not seem like the social butterfly type to me. He's also a cuspie, so there could be elements of Scorpio mucking up those Libra sensibilities. But I still don't really think that makes a lot of sense.

I'm kinda feeling Capricorn for Satan. Someone who cares about rules and regulations. Someone who's willing to help family and friends at the drop of a hat. Ambitious and successful and willing to put in the work, including in relationships. Even better if you give him December 23 or 24, so he's juuuuust on the cusp of Sagittarius. Thus giving him the Sag's pursuit of knowledge quality and a lil dash of childlike wonder ('cause of how he is with cats lol).

ASMODEUS: MAY 16 - TAURUS

Truly an affront to all things astrological. Do you really expect me to believe that Asmo is a Bull? Please. Like yeah, a Taurus can be passionate, but they're also stubborn and stable and kiiinda set in their ways. And yo that ain't Asmo, friends.

Asmo should've been a Leo. The type of person who turns heads just by existing. They're unapologetically themselves and they know how enticing they are to others. A bright, bold, fire sign that'll blaze into a room, full of confidence and ready to start the party. Can be a little too into themselves, but they're also full of generosity and a warmth that attracts people. I would also have been okay with Libra, but I think Leo is more accurate.

BEELZEBUB & BELPHEGOR: MARCH 11 - PISCES

This one fits. Beel really is a Pisces. Emotional, caring, highly family oriented. Maybe a little weepy. Pisces is a good choice for the twins. Not only do you have the dual fish as their symbol, but I think Belphie is what you get when a sweet Pisces suffers from intense trauma. Zodiac signs only really take into consideration general characteristics. People change how they act from life experience, too, and no amount of being born under the fish is going to change that for Belphie. Inside, he's got that caring and emotional state that Beel wears on his sleeve. Belphie just had to build armor around it because that's how he has reacted to being hurt. So I actually think this sign works for both of them.

DIAVOLO: OCTOBER 31 - SCORPIO

Well, he's got the passion anyway. I dunno I feel like Scorpios are also overly dramatic, tend to hold grudges, and kinda do whatever they want. Like they give in to their emotions a lot. Diavolo just doesn't feel like a Scorpio to me. Maybe if he was a little more devious than he is.

I think Diavolo should have been an Aries. The fire symbolism is nice and the fact that it's a ram is also funny (MC being a sheep right), but straight up an Aries is a good leader, they're courageous and adventurous. They love new experiences, kinda like Dia being obsessed with human world stuff he's never experienced before. They rush into things sometimes - anyone remember a baby!Dia trapping Barbatos? This is like he gets an idea in his head and he's like that's the best solution! But it isn't always and I kinda think Barb's influence has mellowed that out over the years. So yeah, Aries for this guy. Though I would have accepted Leo, too, I just don't think Diavolo is as self-obsessed as a Leo usually is.

BARBATOS: AUGUST 22 - LEO

You know, in true CC fashion, I really spent a lot of time considering what would make the most sense for Barbatos. My initial reaction to him being a Leo was no fucking way. Leos like attention too much and we all know Barb is a lurker. However, he's also on the cusp with Virgo. And I kinda think that Virgo's practicality mixed with Leo's charisma could equal out to one Barbatos. Virgos are known for being proficient and efficient and always getting the job done right. They're also known for wanting to be of service to others. Leos, on the other hand, are magnetic and generous. However, they're also really flashy and tend to be hung up on what others think of them and that's not Barb at all.

So while I think the Virgo/Leo cusp could work, they'd need to put him on the other side of it. More Virgo less Leo. Like maybe August 25. That being said, I also initially gave Barb the sign of Capricorn. If I wasn't going with a cusp situation, this is what I'd choose. It's the restraint and meticulousness. Capricorns can be taskmasters, especially when it comes to themselves. In a human this leads to burnout. Since Barbatos is a demon he seems to be able to work hard all day every day and still be okay, but he's not exactly good at resting. A Capricorn is also someone other people come to for advice because they're known for being good at everything they do.

SIMEON: FEBRUARY 10 - AQUARIUS

Aquarius is a weird sign. Like no offense to Aquarians but the symbol here is literally called the Water Bearer and yet it's an air sign? What does it mean? It means that this sign is full of super unique individuals. And yeah okay Simeon is pretty unique. I'm not like there's absolutely no way. But I do think there's a better sign for him.

Should've been a Cancer. Yes, like Lucifer. Think about it: emotional, caring, family oriented, but where Lucifer has the armored crab shell, Simeon has learned to allow some of his soft squishy to show. Both can be very mothering, they just show it in different ways. Trust me on this. HOWEVER. I actually think Simeon should have been a cuspie. Like me, but on the other side. So on the cusp of Cancer and Gemini. Mostly mothering and emotional Cancer, but with the creativity and airiness of Gemini. You know what Geminis are good at? Writing. So I think Simeon has traits from both Cancer and Gemini and would be best on the cusp. (Give him June 21.)

SOLOMON: DECEMBER 9 - SAGITTARIUS

They got this one right. Solomon is absolutely a Sagittarius. The symbol of this sign is the Archer - a centaur with an extended bow. It represents the duality of a Sagittarian's personality. An old soul with childlike wonder. Able to get excited about new things, but also full of experience and wisdom. If that's not Solomon, I don't know what is. Someone who likes to be free, enjoys exploring the unknown, is dedicated to learning but also to teaching - yeah, this one is accurate.

LUKE: JULY 15 - CANCER

Due to the fact that Luke is supposed to be a child, it's important to consider how his sign manifests in someone younger. It can be different from how an adult would be described, but the general idea is usually still the same. I kinda think Luke could in fact be a Cancer. He cares a lot about his friends and family, he's dedicated to them in a way that causes him to defend them at any perceived insult. He can be emotional, but that's also kinda just… he's a kid, you know?

And I think Luke is a Libra. He cares about everybody as mentioned, but he also likes when people get along. If we looked at who he is when he's not worrying about a demon's questionable influence, such as how he is with MC, he's thoughtful and kind, friendly. See how he is with Barbatos and Simeon. He likes learning from them and spending time with them and I think that's the sort of social butterfly Libra quality. I see Luke growing up into someone who has a lot of friends, but also likes to keep things balanced as evidenced by the Libra scales.

MEPHISTOPHELES: NOVEMBER 11 - SCORPIO

It's kinda funny that Mephisto and Diavolo have the same zodiac sign. But it also doesn't mean anything, I just find it humorous. However, Mephisto could actually be a Scorpio, more so than Diavolo, in my opinion. We have seen mostly the negative traits of a Scorpio displayed in Mephisto - jealously, the tendency to hold a grudge, possessive and resentful. But a Scorpio can also be passionate and fearless and perceptive. Mephisto has the grudge thing going on with Lucifer. And he's a little closed off to MC at first. But his perception allows him to consider how MC feels and thus makes it easier for him to understand them. Not to mention how dedicated he becomes once he is friends with someone. While I think there are probably other signs that would work for him too, I don't have a problem with him being a Scorpio.

RAPHAEL: SEPTEMBER 29 - LIBRA

What. There is no way. NO. WAY. I refuse to accept Raphael as a Libra, I'm sorry. It's just not possible.

So what is he, then? A Taurus. The Bull. Quiet, stubborn, no nonsense. Patient, well grounded, likes to feel secure, determined. While a human Taurean would be interested in establishing their career, Raphael had a different goal due to being an angel. But I think we can equate the climb to the top, becoming the youngest angel ever to be a seraph, as obtaining financial stability. It's stability, but in a different way. Secured by the rank rather than the monetary value. Only investing time in what they believe is worth the effort, but once decided they become loyal to a fault. Good at standing up for their principles, but less likely to mess with things that threaten their stability. There might be others he could be, but this one feels right to me.

THIRTEEN: JANUARY 13 - CAPRICORN

Seeing as how I made Satan and Barbatos Capricorns, I don't really feel like Thirteen fits this sign all that well. She's not restrained at all and I don't think she's overly ambitious, either. Not a taskmaster for herself or anyone else.

Thirteen is an Aquarius. A rebel, someone who sets trends, someone who doesn't care about rules. Thirteen is a reaper who wears a school uniform that she completely modified because she likes it and she never even had any intention of attending said school. You gonna try to tell me that person isn't a rebel? Unique, quirky, and independent. That is so totally Thirteen. They also tend to fight for the collective good and while I haven't exactly seen Thirteen joining protests or anything, I don't know that I would discount this quality entirely. She's just definitely leaning more toward the quirky unique part as well as innovation (thinking up different traps for instance).

a/n: i honestly didn't think anyone is reading this series so i kinda stopped updating 😅 i was so happy to get this request, thank you so much for it! I hope you like it, and of course if there are any questions i'm here to answer them ^^

ෆ━ personality

Scorpio is a fixed water sign; it's natives are feared and dreaded by many because they're, more often than not, terribly misunderstood. As a fixed sign, scorpio abides by no one but themselves, they are not quick to take the advice of others as their intuition and wisdom usually directs them towards their goals. With the element of water ruling this sign, it mostly manifests in their emotions as they tend to follow their heart's desires. We can detect that same fiery passion in Diavolo through his grand plans for the three realms, not letting even the slightest external doubt stop him from pursuing his sacred cause.

Scorpions are very unique, being the only sign ruled by two planets - while Mars grant them their determination along with a threatening aura, Pluto strikes them with the need for constant regeneration and transformation. You will often find that scorpions are very different than the way they initially present themselves, they have layers upon layers of inner thoughts and dialogues, struggles, and will often be found brooding over their choices. Diavolo shares a bit of both, being the most powerful creature in hell - the devil himself, yet, possessing a fun-loving, cheerful personality. However, behind closed doors, Diavolo tends to worry over his eligibility to hold this much power and responsibilities.

There is much to unpack in this area, scorpios are intense lovers; they are extremely loyal and committed, and as a result are very possessive as well. Their feelings run deep but their insecurities run even deeper, be prepared for full transparency and constant testing of boundaries.

Intensity - Is the best word to describe a relationship with a scorpio. As fun, flirtatious and free spirited they may seem at first, the moment they have you under their spell they are never letting go, they expect a body and soul, all or nothing type of connection. They become invested in their partner to a point it can be painful for them to deal with, so if you want to love a scorpio - you better fully commit to it, and think closely if it's something you can handle, because dealing with a hurt scorpio is not a position you want to find yourself in. And more than so, especially not when they rule over hell.

Ownership - Scorpios are the embodiment of dominance, they want to feel in control, almost as if they own you. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to completely submit yourself, but if you're someone who can relinquish the reins and let them set the pace, they will pull you into, perhaps, one of the most unique and intense experiences of your life. With time, you will learn to maneuver your way with them - but at least in the beginning, let them reel you in and work their magic on you to help them feel secured and trusting in the relationship.

Darkness - Fitting to the devil, darkness is a repeated theme in these natives, and could be expressed in many ways. Scorpio's pull to the darkness stems from the darkness within them, the sides they never reveal to anyone, so they require to be dealt with tenderness and patience. Be kind and understanding to your scorpio, as their emotional world might tilt from one extreme to another - seeing Diavolo going from his usual effervescent self to a distant, withdrawn state is a sight you may attest to often if you choose to spend your days by his side. Make sure to offer a shoulder to lean on, even if he denies it with a smile and a promise that he's okay - he still needs your support.

If there's one thing scorpios excel in (among many others, of course.) it would be pleasing their partners. Scorpios rarely engage in anything without having an emotional connection, but whether they do or not, results are almost always marvelous.

Dominance - You are sure to be in good hands with the young prince. It is pointless to attempt having the upper hand in this situation (you can try though! he will find it fun and endearing.) as this department is his expertise, so sit back and relax and let him take care of you. Feel very free to tell him about all of your fantasies and he'll happily fulfil each and every deep, impure desire you have ever had.

Unpredictability - As mentioned before, Scorpios can be extreme and unstable; depending on his emotions, Diavolo might range from treating you with utmost care and having a vanilla, sensual type of love making to being rough, vigorous and show no mercy within matter of seconds. Although, even in his most ferocious state he will always put you first and make sure that you are okay and having a good time. If you're into it, though, he might be open to engage in things like light s&m, but as you are still human, he will most likely restrict himself pretty often.

Hello

So on this blog I want to write for multiple fandoms, and I would love requests! Obviously I haven't seen every show and I'm not in every fandom, so if you're not sure about something you can always ask.

I will do nsfw. I mainly prefer headcanon format, but I will do little imagines or full fics here and there. Just depends on how inspired I am :)

OM! Characters and Chinese Zodiac

The Story of Chinese Zodiac

The Jade Emperor hosted a marathon-like competition for animals. 12 animals that arrived first became 12 zodiac animals, each holds authority on a year in a 12 years cycle. The animals that won the competition are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

I will follow the order of the animal, instead of characters in game.

Note: there will be some references to the Magical Eggs event that is currently going on.

Rat 🐭 - Belphegor. Rats are lazy, they eat food made by/gained from hard work by human and other creatures instead of working hard. Some rats look cute. Rats are also mischievous. They use teeth to bite, gnaw many things in your house. Similarly, Belphie is lazy, cute, and mischievous.

Ox 🐮 - Beelzebub. For many centuries, oxen, or cows, or buffalos, use their big physical strength to help Asian farmers in plowing the fields. Beel uses his physical strength to help his family, in whatever they need him for.

Tiger 🐯 - Diavolo. “Lord of the jungle”. The forehead of a tiger bears a mark that looks like “王” (wáng), meaning “king” in Chinese. Diavolo is the ruler and future king of all demons.

Rabbit 🐰 - Asmodeus. Rabbit is cute and a symbol of sex. Asmo is the personification of beauty and lust. In Dance Battle, we can see rabbits featured on the two sides of the Lust stages.

Dragon 🐲 - Lucifer and Leviathan. Dragon is a majestic creature, just like Lucifer. In the magical eggs event, Lucifer’s pet is a dragon. Asian dragons are also famous for their ability to control rain, storm, water and command aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, Levi is the Grand Admiral of Hell’s Navy and has Lotan serving him.

Snake 🐍 - Leviathan and Barbatos. Levi is a snake boy, we all know that. Snakes are also featured on Envy stages. Barbatos’s pet in the Magical Eggs event is a snake. Barb’s tail also looks like a snake’s tongue.

Horse 🐴 - Lucifer. Horse prides itself in being a beautiful and majestic creature. That’s the reason the military forces in many countries still keep traditional cavalry. Cavalry looks awesome and cool during processions for various occasions, even though cavalry is no longer used in real battles.

Goat 🐐 - Satan and Solomon. In Asian cultures, goat sometimes represents wisdom and knowledge. In many animal cartoons, goat characters are those with professions that require much knowledge, like sorcerer, herbalist or doctor, librarian, etc. Satan & Solomon are both very wise and knowledgeable.

Monkey 🐵 - Mammon. Monkeys are kleptomaniac, they steal stuff from camera and phone to hat and sunglasses. Even Aladdin has a thief monkey pet named Abu.

Rooster 🐔 - Lucifer (again). You might have come across images with a rooster being depicted as cocky, arrogant, prideful, especially around hens. 😆

Dog 🐶 - Luke. *Cute Chihuahua noise*

Pig 🐷 - NO ONE.

I can’t see Simeon fit with any Zodiac animal. :(

lucifer;

lucifer would either name the baby with a variation of his name, or homage somebody or something dear to him

if it’s a boy, lucian or lucius. both names means light, if it’s a girl, he would call her lilith. danica is a second option: the name means morning star.

mammon;

he would either name his baby after something expensive. another option is mashing up your names together

if it’s a boy he would go for midas, which means touch of gold, or straight up fortune,

if its a girl, esmeralda which means emerald. or diamond, the name speak for itself.

leviathan;

definitely name his baby to reference something he likes. some people may think he would name his children after an anime character he likes, but that is not the case

if it’s a boy, henry without a doubt, the name means house ruler. he would also like christopher, to simeon’s joy, which means bearing christ. very very ironic.

if its a girl, mira, which means ocean. he also likes umiko, a japanese name that means child of the sea.

satan;

he takes inspiration from human literature and would name his baby after a character or author he particularly likes.

if it’s a boy, william which means protection and desire. he chose it because of william sherlock scott holmes, probably the most famous fictional detective in the history of literature, it’s also a reference to shakespeare. another boy name is dante which means everlasting, after the italian poet dante alighieri, that wrote “the divine comedy”, which is set in heaven, purgatory and then hell.

if it’s a girl he would name her juliet which means youthful, another tribute to shakespearen literature. emma, after jane austen’s book, is also a name he likes, it’s means whole or universal.

asmodeus;

he only choose the name if it’s pretty. often goes for floral and fancy names that sound aesthetically pleasing to him.

if it’s a boy, narciso which means of narcissus, named after the myth.

he briefly considered cupid but he threw away the idea and choose a simple but pretty name like prince, which means royal son.

if it’s a girl, regina which means queen, or bellerose which means beautiful rose.

beelzebub;

he is a family-oriented person, and will try to pass his values to his children.

if it’s a boy, titan which means defender. despite being the name of a fruit, he also likes açaí which means weeping fruit.

i can't stay quiet about this anymore. for weeks now i've thought, noo i won't write about knights of the zodiac on my blog. nobody cares. BUT it is the weirdest fucking movie i've ever seen and i need to tell you about it.

knights of the zodiac is an american made live action adaptation of the anime/manga saint seiya. before this film, i'd never even heard of it, but that doesn't matter, because i watched an interview with mackenyu (who plays seiya) who said that the director told him not to bother watching the anime or reading the manga, because he wanted this movie to be its own thing. you know, which is always a great way to bring in your core audience.

with that said, i'm viewing this film entirely on its own merit, with no context of the source material. so saint seiya fans may not want to read this.

the movie came out this past may. i was excited about it for no other reason than mackenyu starring in an american action movie. i'm honestly a little surprised people weren't more jazzed about that. there aren't a lot of japanese actors starring in big budget american action movies.

other cast members include sean bean (who, spoiler alert, dies), famke janssen, and mark dacascos. in case you don't recognize those names, they are, respectively, boromir/ned stark, jean grey from x-men, and the iron chef. if nothing else, i think it's worth watching for the utterly bizarre casting.

the premise, sort of: mackenyu, who appears to be contractually obligated to play angsty younger brother characters (i think this is the 7th thing i've seen him in where he is an angsty younger brother), has an older sister who is missing. he's a poor orphan boy who gets by on winning cage fights. or something. so boromir finds him and tells him he's destined to be athena's bodyguard, and he gets on board with this alarmingly fast, but not after antagonizing athena (who is not yet athena) and throwing out some snarky one-liners. he trains in the middle of nowhere with a masked lady who repeatedly kicks his ass, and he never changes clothes the entire time. there's other stuff too but it's secondary to the absolute batshittery of this movie.

i saw it on premiere night, which was also the premiere night of the new guardians of the galaxy movie. again, A+ move by the promotional team. so there i was on a saturday at 7pm. prime movie going time. and my best friend and i were the only ones in the theater.

although i had no real expectations for this movie beyond Mackenyu Hits Things And Is Sad, i believed one of two things would happen: it would be as terrible as it sounded, or it would actually be phenomenal. but no, it was neither bad, nor good, but a secret third thing: it scratched a deep and rabid part of my id.

and by that i mean, it appeared to be a very high budget love letter to glaringly submissive men.

here's my letterboxd review that i wrote in the brief hypomanic episode succeeding my initial viewing:

okay so first and most importantly, this scene made me actually scream:

it's a joke line, sure, but 1) he definitely means it, and 2) he immediately calls her "princess," which if you've ever read my fic, you'll know that that's a one-hit KO for me.

(putting this under a cut because it's already long)

you see how athena is framed above seiya? that is one of approximately 1000 shots where this occurs. to every male character. at one point, mackenyu perches gingerly on the back of athena's motorcycle. in fact the only male character who attempts to be dominant aggressive and toxically masculine becomes the punching bag of the film.

in the beginning, seiya is in a cage match where people are getting angry at him for "dancing," which means he doesn't fight so much as avoids getting hit and looks pretty doing it. a solid third of the movie involves a very large lady beating the crap out of him. the premise of the film is getting him to devote his entire life to a goddess and obey protect her at all costs.

i'm probably the only one who watched this movie and was like, hmm is this kink coded? am i insane for seeing this? usually when i think of kink coding i think of quentin tarantino's foot fetish, these long gaudy shots of women's feet hanging out of car windows. it's in the imagery and shot composition and power dynamics.

here, the imagery is a lot of kneeling men, the shot compositions repeatedly place the men lower than the women, and the power dynamics are simply that the women have all the power, and the men have a little, as a treat. jean grey is a straight-up femdom, leather and all.

by the end of the climax, seiya is naked, having been stripped of his (magical and very powerful) armor as pre-athena becomes athena and uh, blasts his clothes off in the process. there's probably something to be said there about, you know, literally stripping him of his power.

i think what i find particularly remarkable about this is that the repeated feminization of the male lead is treated as a good thing. a self-actualizing thing. it's the process through which he accepts himself and his destiny. that's the reason i say it's a love letter--i've known a lot of submissive men and many of them really struggle to accept that part of themselves. i had a friend once who was so ashamed of himself--not just that he was submissive, but that submission was an integral part of his identity--that he had a breakdown in my car over it. so i think it's nice seeing a vaguely positive portrayal of finding oneself through (textually) devotion and (subtextually) submission.

god help me, seiya spends the entire film being irritating and bratty. this movie is my personal kryptonite.

don't get me wrong, it's a terrible movie. the writing is awful, the direction is awful, and if it gets a second film, i'll be shocked. it received a 1.9 (out of 5) on letterboxd and a 4.4 (out of 10) on imdb.

but i've also always been a lover of the star wars prequels (and oh boy there's a lot to be said there about submissive men) and so my patience for bad writing is infinite in the face of interesting things happening on a character level. in a world of disneyfied stock plots and bloated marvel franchises, i appreciate when a movie tries to do something different, even if it doesn't do it very well.

anyway, i can't in good conscience recommend it, but i for one plan to watch it at least a hundred more times.

A/N; first in the zodiac series we have our resident gemini, big bro Luci. I gotta admit i didn't see it at first and mistook him for virgo or capricorn, but while getting to know him the gemini became more and more prominent. hope you'll enjoy!

ෆ━ personality

Gemini's element is air, and they're also a mutable sign. Air signs behave like the wind, carrying themselves through life in a breeze; they are elusive and hard to pin down, always on the road to bigger and better things. Add being a mutable sign to the mixture and you'll get a person who's prone to change and always inspects things to the core before making a decision. It's hard to tell what an air sign really is thinking, specifically a gemini, as they choose to show you what they want you to see. To top that, being ruled by pride doesn't make it easier for Lucifer, as he often succumbs to acting childish and stubborn, despite fully knowing how he should be reacting.

The gemini attributes are visible in Lucifer, a former angel who established his place as the demon prince's right hand, strutting proudly through the devildom as if he had always been one of its leaders. Lucifer is quick minded, constantly picking the correct reaction, or solution to a situation. He is ever changing, learning and growing as he is open to accept criticism and advice from MC and the others, even if at first he seems to reject it. Being governed by mercury shapes him into a charismatic person with a high level of emotional intelligence - he's able to easily pick up others thoughts and feelings, however, in a very gemini fashion he's pretty clueless of how to handle his own emotions and often oblivious to instances that directly involve him. (sometimes on purpose.)

Lucifer feels like he has to keep up a front in order to maintain a level of respect towards him, so he appears cold, distant, often unbothered, and even condescending, all while on the inside he's the complete opposite. His mind is racing in light speed, constantly processing information and stressing to keep up with his reputation of the one everyone can count on. He's extremely loyal and reliable and can endure any task assigned upon him, often preferring to work alone but can thrive in any environment as long as its dynamic.

ෆ━ dating headcanons

If you managed to cuff a gemini, first of all congratulations. Geminis are known for their fleeting interests and relationships can sometimes be just one more unfinished project, but once you got them invested, you're in for a treat.

Surprises - He'll always keep you guessing, you'll never know which side of him you're about to meet. One minute he's all over you; you'll wake up being held captive in his bed, a prisoner under his everlasting kisses and cuddles. After some time with you he'll easily pick up on your moods and know exactly how to alternate the universe so it'll behave according to your needs. Depressed and need space? He will personally put a curse on your room to send anyone who bothers you into their own personal hell. (I'm imagining Mammon twisting the knob and immediately falls into a perpetual nightmare where he's constantly being scammed out of his fortune or something.) Need company or attention? He will drop all of his work and take you wherever you want, just the two of you, and indulge in you until you feel satisfied again.

Commitment - He is one hundred percent committed to you, mentally, spiritually, physically and any other shape of form, and he expects the same from you. He's big on trust, so it's important that your actions will show him he can rely on you with his eyes closed. If you manage to win his trust, you are free to do whatever you please, Lucifer won't stop you from pursuing anything your heart desires as long as you're open and honest with him about it.
