anyway the sun and the star came out and i have. thoughts. good and bad. will contain tsats spoilers!!!
i LOVED the canon queer characters, esp the minor campers mentioned (paolo, malcom, jake). not 100% sure on why it was such a big deal/why nico was such an inspiration considering how gay greek mythology is in the first place but appreciated it anyways
they mentioned octavian! wish he was talked about more (esp in the trials of apollo) but i'll make do with the crumbs i have
so wished they delved into will's guilt/healer complex a lot more. it was obvs more of nico's POV but i wish we got some more deep thoughts from will too
SO MUCH UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR DIONYSUS. I WILL MAKE A WHOLE POST ABOUT THIS I SWEAR.
no idea what happened to apollo's character arc? where was he? what was the whole point of TOA if he didn't ever show up for will or nico???
on that note, there was not enough mention of nico's friends (hazel, frank, reyna, CONNOR)
i lowkey vibed with the whole "will not understanding the darkness and the underworld" thing BUT it did get a biiiit on the nose sometimes. which i understand considering i'm reading a kids book. but still.
WILL PLAGUE POWERS. not much more to say
i loved all of will's freaking out moments (ie him realizing tartarus was alive). could have done with a lot more.
will wearing cargo shorts in tartarus healed my soul
i? wanted? more? out? of? nyx's? kids? these gods/demons could have been so powerful, so much more center stage and relevant. i can make a whole post about this too.
tbh i wanted more of the gods in general
i'm obsessed. OBSESSED. with the cocoa puffs. also the whole idea of nico literally letting go of his demons makes me so happy
i wanted more michael and lee angst! where was it!
the story of nico first realizing will liked him was so cute
ALSO ALSO the fact that he was hanging with connor during that time was amazing, esp since connor was one of the first ones to ever meet him waaaayyyyy back in the titan's curse. love that they're still besties (hope that nico can now defeat him in poker)
but i did want more cecil and lou ellen :( or more of will's personal life in general
like delving into his (once-mentioned) loneliness, life on tour, being a year rounder...
stiiiillllll iffy on the context of their first kiss being... nico's grief over jason dying
on the topic of jason. i wish we interacted with him! maybe a ghost or even a dream
love that nico called piper at the end, but i wish we got a leo call too ngl
liked the concept of the whole maria/bianca thing (even though I don't get how she's in elysium if she chose rebirth??)
NICO HAVING A CRUSH ON ARES
WILL HAVING A CRUSH ON HERMES
the book didn't fall into the miscommunication trope. i loved that.
buuuuttttt they worked through their problems just a smidge too fast for me, especially for traumatized teens in their first relationships in a place that brings out their worst thoughts
the first date story was so cute i think it broke me
anyway that's all for now it's 1 am and i finished the book like 10 hours ago give it time to marinate in my mind :)

Douxie x Reader: Do you trust me? (A Whole New World)
Characters: Gender neutral reader, Hisirdoux "Douxie" Casperan, a flying ship.
Best meant for ages 16+, gets a little touchy touchy, though no clothes are removed.
Words: 2341
(This was an excuse to dabble in deeper kisses and more intimate scenes.)
Please enjoy!
You awoke to a tapping on your window. Rolling out of your bed, you checked the time. Ten thirty pm. You must have fallen asleep while reading, at least that’s what you gathered from the book on the floor and your less-than-perfect sleeping position.
The tapping on your window persisted, and you pulled aside the curtains, then pulled up the blinds. You gasped when you saw Hisirdoux Casperan smiling on the other side, standing on what looked like a flying ship. You opened the window.
“What are you doing here?” You asked him, keeping your voice down so as to not alert or disturb your housemates.
“Oh, darling y/n, do I need a reason to see you?” You raised an eyebrow at that, and he sighed. “All right, fine, maybe I was going to ask you on a date earlier, but you left before I got the chance. So, I’m asking you now.”
“Me?”
Douxie looked at you with a cheeky grin. “No, I am definitely speaking to your shadow. Yes, you.”
“But, I’m just…” You gesture to yourself. “I’m just me.”
“And who did I trust with my secrets when I needed to? You. I trust you, y/n. Do you trust me?” He held his hand out to you, waiting for you to make a decision.
You looked into his eyes, the yellow tint gleaming in the lamplight spilling from behind you. You mentally catalogued everything you knew about the man in front of you, then finally took his hand. “Yes. I trust you.”
He grinned and pulled you into the ship, closing your window with a quick use of magic. “Hold tight, lovely.”
He hadn’t specified what to hold on to, so you grabbed the nearest solid object: Douxie himself. He hadn’t been expecting that, and he looked down in surprise, but continued to maneuver the ship up, up, and away. As the ship rose above the clouds, Douxie turned to you.
“Where do you want to go, darling? We can go anywhere you’d like.”
You looked up at him. “Anywhere?” At his nod, you hummed a bit and thought about it. “I want to see the Coliseum,” you told him. He laughed and nodded.
“Of course. As you wish.”
Soon after, you arrived. Douxie landed in the center of the abandoned building, being as gentle as he possibly be. You jumped out of the ship almost before it stopped moving, giving Douxie a heart attack.
He jumped down after you, following you around as you rambled on and on about the history, the events that happened here, and some of the people who were there. He watched you go on and on, as you started drawing in the sand, explaining about legends and reality, and things you wished you’d been present for.
He chuckled, but found himself lost in the sparkle in your eyes as you wrapped up what you were discussing. You stood up, brushing yourself off with a sigh.
“God, the history here,” you whispered. “Were you there for any of it?”
Douxie shook his head. “I only visited Rome one time, and that was because Archie’s manticore cousin got caught in someone’s garden and we had to get her out and erase some memories.”
Your eyes shone. “Archie has a manticore cousin?!”
“Yeah, though I’m not sure what she’s been doing lately. Who knows, maybe she went underground.” Douxie didn’t voice his doubts, not wanting to dwell on the past or potential grief.
“So, where now?” You asked, walking up to him.
Douxie thought. “I want to show you some place that had a lot of meaning to me when I was younger.”
“How much younger?” You asked sassily.
“That’s rude to ask.”
“Last I checked, you aren’t a lady.”
“Oh, you saucy little-!”
You ran off giggling to the ship, Douxie chasing after you. He let you beat him to the ship, but when he jumped up with you, he picked you up, sweeping you off the deck. “Gotcha!”
“Noooo! Let me goooo!” You squealed, attempting to wriggle out of the wizard’s strong grip.
“Not until you apologize for sassing a master wizard!”
“I’ll do it again, boomer!”
“I am not a boomer! First of all, I am far older than any boomer. Secondly, I’m up to date on all the latest memes!”
“Oh yeah?” You grinned cheekily. You started struggling again, only for his grip to tighten. “By Talos, this can’t be happening!” You cried, a laugh on the edge of your laugh.
“Seen that one,” Douxie grinned.
Y/n went limp, then suddenly shouted, “RULE THREE!” and kicked him in a very painful place. Douxie released her as he doubled over.
“I am never letting you hand around the trollhunters again,” he groaned. “That is most definitely not rule three.”
“Sorry,” you apologized, bending down to check on him. “What is rule three, then?”
Douxie looked up, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “When in doubt, run like the dickens.”
Your eyes widened, and you scrambled back over the edge of the ship, taking off running.
“Not fast enough, darling!” Douxie called after you, flying after you.
“That’s cheating!”
“No, it is not!”
“Yes it is!”
Douxie caught you and flew you both back to the ship. “Come on now, love. I want to show you my choice.” He set you down gently. “Hold tight.”
The trip was much shorter than the previous one, only taking a few minutes compared to the hour and a half long first trip. He landed the ship on a bare set of cliffs, double checking something on his bracer. “We’re here.”
You looked over the edge of the ship, not seeing much but jagged cliff edges, and an ancient overgrown forest. “Where are we?”
Douxie sighed heavily. “This is where I used to live. This is where Camelot used to be. Many years ago, before it could fly, before the disastrous tournament. Before I went back in time and almost screwed up the entirety of history.” He ran his hand through his hair. “Back when it was home.”
You looked at him, aware of the mood and setting. Yet, all you could think about was-
“CAMELOT? YOU LIVED IN CAMELOT?!”
Douxie jumped. “Er. Yes?”
“That’s so cool! What was it like?” You asked in excitement.
Douxie laughed, jumping out of the ship. You followed, still asking a bunch of questions. He sat on the edge of the cliff and started telling the story. When he finished, you both sat there, in a forgotten corner of England, the wind blowing across your faces. You reached for Douxie’s hand, but he stood up.
“Let’s head back to Arcadia. We can go stargazing for a bit before I take you home, if you’d like?” He asked, ever the gentleman.
“Yeah, that sounds good,” you say as you get up. You brush off the feeling of disappointment that you felt. There would be plenty of other times to try and express your feelings.
You took the hour or so trip back to Arcadia as a chance to doze a bit, trying to focus on other ways you could express your feelings to the dorky wizard close by. You were pretty sure that he reciprocated your feelings, but there was also a chance that this was a platonic date. You’d been on a few of those, sadly.
“Hey, y/n, we’re here,” Douxie said softly, gently shaking you awake. Oops.
You sat up, quickly rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean-“
Douxie cut you off with a laugh. “It’s fine, darling. It was a bit of a trip and it’s getting pretty late.” He frowned at the sky. “Or early. Today’s Sunday though, so I hope you don’t have anywhere to be.”
You giggled. “Nope!”
“Excellent!” He jumped down from the ship, then extended his hand to you. “My lady.”
Your face warmed as you took his hand, and jumped down from the ship with his assistance. “Thank you, Douxie,” you whispered.
Now that you were back in Arcadia, where it was dark, and everyone was sleeping, it just felt more appropriate to whisper, even if you were technically miles from anywhere. Douxie led you to the center of the clearing, and lied down. You followed suit, and turned your eyes to the stars.
Douxie started pointing out and naming stars and constellations. You told him about how you almost always knew where Mars was thanks to an astronomy phase your mom went through. He thought that was cute and funny.
You shivered. You were in a t-shirt and shorts, and hadn’t grabbed a sweater before leaving, and after traveling through the skies, and with it approaching the dead of night, you were starting to feel pretty chilly.
Douxie noticed right away, and sat up. Then he gently pulled you towards him, holding you close so you could feel the heat radiating off of him. He wrapped his arms around you, then paused, and scrolled through his bracer. He chose a rune and mumbled some Latin. Immediately, warmth spread through the clearing, with no visible source. Douxie chuckled triumphantly, before wrapping his arms around you again.
He rubbed up and down your arms, making the goosebumps disappear, and giving you a rush of emotions you hadn’t expected to feel. The real surprise comes when he gently presses his lips to your ear.
As your face warms, Douxie starts whispering to you. “Y/n, I want to tell you something. I know we only met a few months ago, but you’ve been a constant in my life since then. Trusting you with my secret was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and you make me feel so comfortable and relaxed. In all my years, only one person made me feel like this.”
Your breath caught in your throat, but you swallowed back the emotions bubbling inside of you. You whispered to him, “Who?”
His lips were right on your ear again. “You, love. Only you. And always you. I love you, y/n.”
You turned your head so you could see his face, wondering if his was as red as your own. Nose to nose, you stared silently at each other, until you broke the silence.
“I love you, too, Douxie.”
He laughed quietly, then softly closed the gap between the two of you.
His lips brushed against yours softly. You hadn’t expected his lips to be so soft, or mango flavored. Clearly, he was a lot better at remembering to apply chapstick than you were.
The kiss was short and chaste. You were kind of sad that it had ended so soon, actually.
So when he leaned down again and whispered, “Can I kiss you again?” you nodded, and met him in the middle.
This kiss was deeper, and longer. Somehow, the two of you ended up laying down on the grass again, still embracing. You put your hands on his face, never wanting to let go of him, while his hands found your waist, pulling you closer to him. You both pulled away for air for half a second, then dove right back into the kiss.
Douxie ran his hands up and down your waist and ribcage, cautiously testing the waters. He pulled away and you sighed sadly, until he kissed the crook of your neck. Tingles ran through your whole body, and he did it again.
His warmth spell must have been short-lived, because as he rubbed up and down your back again and your shirt moved, you felt the cold air against you, and you shivered, despite you and Douxie being so close.
“Douxie,” you whispered softly.
“Yes, love?” He whispered back from just underneath your ear.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“But I’m too cold to continue,” you whispered even softer than before. He understood immediately, removing his hands from underneath your shirt. He moved to pull away, but you grabbed his hands. “We can still cuddle,” you tell him. “I just don’t want to freeze or catch a cold.”
Douxie nodded, and pressed his forehead to you. You could smell his mango chapstick still, and the dye he used in his hair. Combined with the faint smell of coffee and books, it all smelled unmistakably like Douxie.
“You know, love, we can always continue another time,” Douxie whispers. “Maybe at my home. I’d kick Archie out for a while, he’ll survive.”
You giggle. “Only if you can spirit me away again.”
“It’s a deal.”
The sky was starting to lighten above your heads when you finally made it back to your house. Douxie opened your window for you, and helped you inside your room again like a true gentleman. Once you were safely inside, he leaned forward.
“May I have a farewell kiss?” He asked with a grin.
“Of course, master wizard.” You pecked him on the lips, then touched your forehead to his. “I had a magical time, Douxie. Thank you.”
“Thank you for coming, my love. Now make sure you rest.” He smiled at you. “Can’t have you exhausted the next time I see you.”
You poked his nose. “You’ll be seeing me at the coffee shop, you goof. Because you’re the only one who can make my order special.”
“I’m honored.”
“It’s because you bewitch it, isn’t it?”
“I do no such thing!”
“Then why’s it always better than everyone else’s versions?”
He met your eyes. “It’s the love.”
You poked his nose again. “All right, if you say so. Now shoo before everyone else wakes up. If you don’t, they won’t buy my lie of studying all night. And you need to rest, too.”
He sighed, which turned into a yawn, proving your point. “Yes, my love.”
You closed the window, and watched him fly the boat away. As soon as he was out of sight, you closed the blinds and curtains, threw a few open textbooks on the bed, made yourself comfortable among them, and closed your eyes, reveling in the events of the night.

Remember me...
Amnesia!Douxie x Reader
Rated: Teens and up
Warnings:
Summary: Douxie only knows his name. He doesn't know who he is, where he is, or the cat that keeps following him. He hurts and is tired, and has too many questions. The worst part? He doesn't recognize you anymore.
"Oh, Douxie," you sighed. "What did they do to you?"
Your fingers traced over the marks on his arms, while your eyes took in his whole appearance. You turned to Archie.
"Archie! What happened?! Who did this to him?!"
Archie opened his mouth but nothing came out. His tail tapped in frustration. Meanwhile, Douxie was looking at you in complete confusion while you tried to talk to the cat.
"Okay, hold on," you said finally, gently placing two fingers on Archie's forehead. Your fingertips glowed, as did yours and Archie's eyes. You pulled away soon after. "If I don't get him home right now, I will be committing a felony." You turned to Douxie, your face and tone softening. "Douxie. I need to know if you trust me enough to take you home?"
Douxie was still pressed up against the wall, his eyes flicking between you, Archie, and Nari's silhouette at the end of the alley. "I- I don't know." He looked away, clutching his head. "Part of me says yes, without a doubt. But I'm scared. I don't even know your name. And you just glowed, and the cat, and I'm just..."
You crouched down with him. "Then allow me to introduce myself. I'm Y/n L/n, and I'm your... friend. I have been for a long time. We're wizards. Both of us." You slowly pulled your phone out of your pocket, and pulled up your gallery, having moved to sit beside him. You pulled up a video of the two of you playing around in your New York apartment, just a few days ago.
"Look, Y/n! Birds!" The Douxie in the video shouted as birds poured in from the open window.
"Babe no! The landlord!" Your voice echoed from behind the camera, a laugh on the edge of your voice.
"Don't worry, Love. They're not real," video Douxie said with a charming grin. He snapped, and the birds vanished in blue lights. "I won't compromise us."
The video ended, and you swiped left, showing him dozens of pictures of the two of you, of Nari, of Archie. You closed the app and turned to him.
"Do you believe me?" You asked softly.
His eyes met yours, searching for something. "That was me. That was my voice. I did... magic?"
"Yes. You're a master of it. You taught me everything I know."
Douxie stayed silent for a moment, still searching for something in your gaze. Then he relaxed. "I'll go with you. I don't want to stay here anymore." He went to stand up, but his cold and sore limbs seized up. He fell back to the ground, and started crying. "Please, Y/n, if you're who you say you are, please just take me home. Make the pain go away. Help me remember. Anything."
You helped him up and pulled him into a hug. "I will, Douxie. I promise. And that no-good cult of bastards will pay for what they've done to you."
You slowly guided the broken, sobbing man out of the alley, and started the journey back to your apartment.
The Loyalists of The Order were not going to live to see a new year.

douxie,,, x reader,,, for valentines,,, pls?
Thank you for requesting, Lovesong! I'm so sorry it took me so long to finish this, life really made me slow.
Pairing: Hisirdoux Casperan/Reader Rating: General audiences/Teen+ Warnings: None, pure fluff. Summary: Douxie knows you're terrible with dates after your little stunt in Limbo, so he invites you to his bookstore for a surprise.
You woke up, rather groggy despite the bright light and clock reading 11:00 AM. Ever since you accidentally fell into Limbo, your sense of time has been permanently. Well. Screwed up.
You rolled out of bed with a grumble, and gently walked into your kitchen. You pulled your phone off of the charger there, and lit up at a text from Douxie. You fumbled a bit to get to the actual message.
'Hey, love, whenever you get around to it, why don't you stop by the shop today? I'm at the bookstore. Hope to see you!'
You set your phone down, and quickly made yourself some breakfast and coffee. Then you ran back to your room and looked through your closet.
You paused indecisively. You weren't much good at the modern fashion trends, and Claire and Aja had picked out most of your closet. So you weren't terribly sure what to wear.
Heck, most days you didn't even leave your house unless you were accompanied by one of Douxie's friends, but that was mostly to keep you and others from having miscommunication issues.
You decided to think about what the other citizens of Arcadia wore, and settled on a simple shirt and skirt combo over leggings. Then you put on a pair of sneakers. They felt weirder on your feet than usual, but you discarded that.
You left your house, only to realize it was very, very cold. SO you went back inside and grabbed a jacket. And your keys.
Finally, you started walking down the street, carefully following the directions given by the phone in your hand. Everyone had made sure you could use the GPS system first thing, so you rarely got lost.
You made it to the bookstore at last. You tried to look inside, but the windows were covered with so many books, objects, and various paraphernalia, that it was hard to see anything.
You walked inside, but couldn't see Douxie anywhere.
"Hello? I made it! Are you here? Did you leave?" You called, the words starting to fall out of your mouth of their own accord.
"Ah, hey, I'm upstairs! Just- Ack!- Hold tight!" Douxie's voiced wafted down, accompanied by a few thumping sounds. "I'm fine!"
You raised an eyebrow at the dubious proclamation, but didn't say anything. You instead walked over to the customer service counter, and waited.
Then, Douxie practically sprinted down the stairs and behind the counter. "Hi."
You raised your eyebrow again. "Hello?"
Douxie looked away with a flush in his cheeks. "I'm hoping you didn't check the date?"
"Oh, no, I didn't. Should I?" You asked, reaching for the phone.
Douxie grabbed your hand to stop you, then quickly pulled away. "Ah! Haha, that's... that's not necessary. Would you... Like to come upstairs with me?"
"Sure."
"Excellent!" He came out from behind the counter, then bowed to her. "My lady, I- Are you wearing shoes without socks?!"
"What?" You looked down at your feet. "Oh. That's why they didn't feel right."
Douxie looked at your shoes with dismay on his face for a few seconds before straightening up and gesturing to the stairs. "After you, my lady."
You nodded and headed up the stairs, Douxie not far behind. As you reached the top step, you stopped and let him catch up. He smiled at you as he did, and you felt your heart skip a beat. Just as kind and soft as he was those centuries ago.
He took your hand again and led you down the hall to a small room. He stopped in front of the door and turned to you.
"After you once more."
You rested your hand on the doorknob, took a deep breath, and then turned the knob.
A gasp rose in your throat as you took in the heart shaped formation of candles, complete with roses and plates of desserts. Douxie coughed from behind you. You turned towards him to witness his blazing face.
"Well, today is St. Valentine's day, and I was hoping to surprise you. And to tell you about my feelings. You don't have to reciprocate of course but-"
He fell silent as you wrapped your arms around him. "But I do. I love you, too, Hisirdoux."
He laughed in relief. "Oh, thank God."
"I just have one question," you stated as you pulled away.
"Anything, beloved."
"Why," you started, gesturing to the candles, "Did you create a fire hazard in a bookstore?"
"Oh, for Merlin's sake," Douxie grumbled before waving his hand to extinguish the flames and pressing a kiss to your ear.

Douxie headcanons for me by me
1. His love language is physical touch. Hugs all the time, patting the shoulders or heads of his friends, cuddly.
2. Touchstarved tho, because he's seen so many people come and go, so he doesn't usually make friends.
3. 0-60 in terms of friendship, when he wants to be friends with someone. Legit, meet him once and then the next day, with your permission, he's your bestie.
4. He's huge on consent, so even tho he loves physical contact, if you're uncomfortable, he won't invade your space.
5. He's got three jobs, the cafe in the morning, the restaurant in the evenings, and his bookstore is the weekends. He takes the afternoons off to go to whatever classes he's taking at the local college.
6. He loves kids but they also make him sad.
7. He got the plague once and now every time he sees a rat, he blasts it. Then Archie usually eats them.
8. Douxie was at least mildly involved in both world wars, and probably a few others as well.
9. He had periods of time where he just hid for a while before getting back into the world, usually accompanied by a change of location.
10. He's had at least three driver's licenses, and many more official IDs. He keeps the old ones in a scrapbook, and likes to look at them when he's remembering old friends.
11. He's never really changed his name. Somehow, there just happens to be a "Hisirdoux Casperan" in every generation.
12. (There's a wizard in nearly every government and that's how he gets away with it.)
13. He only moved to America post WWII. He felt it was a good time to finally see the new world, since the UK and US were allies at the time and they'd be a little more accepting of his accent at the time.
14. He doesn't quite know how he ended up in Arcadia Oaks but then trolls and magic started popping up and he just was "Uuuuuugggghhhh not this again."
15. The events in Wizards was really the first time he's done anything more than minor with his magic since WWII.
16. Anyway, I think he would adopt pets but he's already had 60 and he gets very sad when yet another one dies.
17. Being immortal is great and all until all your friends, furry or not, die and leave you alone again.
18. He first met Zoe in Massachusetts.
19. But they lost contact for a few decades.
20. He really just wants someone to give him soft affection and love and listen to all his stories without running the other way. He's got a lot of stories. Like the time he helped Shakespeare with Romeo and Juliet, and Shakespeare didn't accept his idea of letting the poor kids live "happily ever after".
tldr: he's been through some shit and really just wants happy times now.

Guardians of Arcadia: Operation: Secret Santa
Christmas is quickly approaching in Arcadia. While the town may not get such luxuries like snow or ice-skating, the Guardians still want to participate in some form of Christmas tradition all together. Some might not know exactly what is happening, but they're giving it their best shot! (TOA CHRISTMAS SPECIAL WHEN?!)
Rating: ages 13 and up!
Warnings: Canon and character typical levels of teenage violence. Staja. Jlaire. No Zoe, sorry guys. Oh, and swearing.
Part One: Set the Rules, Draw the Names
Jim stood on Blinky's table and shook the chandelier in an attempt to get everyone else's attention. Krel and Aja were poking around all the books, marveling at the dusty, distinctively non-technical tomes. Douxie was talking with Blinky and Aaarghhh about what was apparently a highly volatile piece of magical equipment. Steve was fawning over Aja in a ridiculously sweet way, while Claire and Toby were giving Eli a very, very, very indepth talk about the stuff that went on in Arcadia.
"HEY!" Jim yelled. As the room fell silent, he crossed his arms and frowned. "Are we doing this thing or not?"
"Oh, oh oh!" Aja bounced on her toes. "A pop quiz! Yes?"
"Don't worry, Jim, we're all listening now." Claire looked up at him, brows furrowed. "But, uh, you haven't told us what exactly we're doing."
Jim facepalmed. "I thought I missed something on the text. Damn it. Never mind." He breathed in through his nose to calm down. "Okay, so what we're doing is a Secret Santa. Before anyone asks, a Secret Santa is a gift exchange, but you don't know who gave it to you. Or, well, you're not supposed to know. Sometimes, people give really obvious gifts. Anyway, you give a gift to the person you're assigned to, but you don't sign it. Wrap it, if you can, in non-descript wrapping paper. Or go bananas. Actually," He looked at the Akiridion twins. "Everyone go bananas."
Toby grinned. "And how are we picking names?"
"We already have names, why do we need to pick new ones?" Krel grumbled in moderate confusion.
"No, you're not choosing new names," Claire told him. "You'll be given the name of someone else in the room, and that's who you're getting a gift for."
"Oh, I see! Like a covert mission, but with presents!" Aja giggled in glee.
"Yes. Before we draw names, I'm going to put down three ground rules."
"Three rules, always a good base. Well done, Master Jim." Blinky grinned.
"Blinky, I'm just organizing a gift exchange, it's not that hard. Anyway. Rule number one: Nothing over a hundred bucks. Some of us might be royalty, or related to people in power, but most of us are, shall we say... Broke. So there's a price cap."
Everyone nodded in understanding, Claire looking up at him with a displeased pout. He mouthed a "sorry" at her, then continued. "Rule two: Handmade gifts are more than acceptable. But food does not count. No food gifts."
"What about socks?" Aaarghhh asked.
Jim debated. "Try to refrain from socks, unless your name is not a troll."
Blinky and Aaarghhh grumbled, while Aja nodded exuberantly. "No socks for the Blinky and the Aaarghhh! Understood!"
Jim nodded. "Finally, rule three. Do not tell anyone who you got. Not between friends, siblings, partners, anyone."
The Tarrons pouted, as did Blinky, but everyone else nodded. Douxie stepped up. "And now for the name drawing!"
Douxie enchanted the slips of paper that went in so that someone wouldn't get their own name, and then shuffled them up. Jim held out a bowl, and the papers slid inside.
One by one, the participants came up and drew names. Jim fell in last, and he was okay with that. It made it easier to just grab his piece of paper.
He admitted that he was hoping to get Claire or Toby, maybe even Blinky or Aaarghhh. So the feeling he felt when he stared on the hastily scribbled name on the paper before him was nothing short of confusing and overwhelming.
He didn't know Krel that well at all. What do you get for a mega genius from outer space?

Douxie Headcanon
Douxie really likes explosions.
I have proof for this one.
1. He was absolutely taken with Claire's nickname of "C-bomb".
2. His use of the word "Nuclear" as a excitement/optimistic/happy word.
3. His band's name is "Ash Dispersal Pattern". You know what causes an ash dispersal pattern? (Volcanoes, big natural explosions) Bombs.
thank you, goodbye.

haha. so, I know I said I wouldn't write Douxie angst....
I lied.
It's Blix's fault /j
Amnesia Douxie AU.
The boy wandered through the twisted, crowded streets, the strange cat with glasses following him. All he knew was his own name, and basic knowledge.
Douxie glanced at the cat. "Still following me? Don't you have a home to go to?" The cat looked at him sadly, opening it's mouth, but no sound came out.
Douxie sighed. "Looks like we're in the same boat then, I guess." He leaned against the hard brick of the closest building, trying to keep the helplessness from washing over him. "I don't even know if I have a home to go to. I don't even know who I am!" He slid down the wall, not minding the scrapes. He buried his face in his arms, his knees to his chest. "I don't know where I am, where to go, or where we just came from!" Panic rose in his chest, and tears escaped his eyes. "I'm lost. And confused. I don't know anything, little cat." He threw his head backwards, half laughing. "And now I'm talking to a cat, with glasses, like it's the most natural thing to do." His face fell again. "I hate this. I know nothing, not about myself, not about this place, not about my life."
The cat chirped, the most noise it had made since Douxie had insisted on it's release. Then it walked up to him, and butted it's head against his knees. Douxie absently scratched behind it's ears, then his fingers moved downwards and traced the sigil on the cats chest. It gave him comfort, for some reason. It felt warm. It felt like home.
--
You and Nari found Douxie sleeping in an alley, Archie curled up on top of him. You shook him awake, taking in the bruises, the cuts, the state he was in. "Douxie, Douxie, wake up. Let's get you home."
Douxie opened his eyes, taking in your face without any recognition. "You know my name. Do I know you?"
Oh no.

If I had a nickel for everytime I fell for a unassuming guy with blue streaks in his hair, who loves music and occasionally plays with time, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Part Four: I hardly even know the troll!
Steve was struggling. All he knew about Blinky was that he had a lot of books! And it's not like he could ask someone close to him what else he might like, because all the people close to Blinky were also participating in the exchange.
So Steve was stuck with no knowledge of what Blinky might like to read.
That led to a second problem. Steve wasn't a bookworm. He'd heard about some of these books, sure, but he didn't know what was inside of them.
Steve worried his shirt collar between his fingers as he thought. He stopped as a thought hit him. "Ms. Janeth knows about trolls and books! Well, I don't necessarily have to tell her about the trolls, but if it slips out, she won't freak out. But she's a Shakespeare nut, she's gotta know more about books and stuff than I do." He paused. "And she teaches English."
Steve left his room and started heading towards the school. He stopped when he remembered it was still under reconstruction. He turned around, and saw Douxie... being put into an ambulance with a broken leg?
"Hey, magic man! What happened to you?" Steve yelled as he ran up.
Douxie groaned and covered his face. "A terrible plan. But it's working. Even though Arch said it wouldn't. Ohhh, but it hurts so bloody bad," the wizard gritted out through his teeth.
"Why are you being cryptic?!" Steve yelled as the paramedics shut the ambulance doors. "And why not just-- Shwinggg!-- fix it up?" Steve muttered as the ambulance left for the hospital.
"Because he's being stubborn, that's why. He needs to speak with someone specific, and for some reason, he decided this was the best course of action." Archie tutted from beside Steve's feet.
"I need to speak with someone specific, too. But I don't know where she is. I'll just ask Coach Dad later." Steve tapped his chin for a moment. "I'm going to the bookstores then, see ya later, Archie."
"Goodbye, Steve."
Steve went to the first bookstore, but then remembered that it was the store Douxie was in charge of, so it would be closed.
Also it stilled smelled like smoke from the shadow mephit incident. So Steve turned away, and his girlfriend flew at him.
"Steve! What are you doing here?"
"Uh," Steve faltered, his voice going higher. "Thinking!" He internally smacked himself.
"Oh, is my oaf finally using his head for more than breaking down doors?" Aja teased. Steve felt his face warm, and he relaxed.
"Sister... The school supplies?" Krel said in an impatient tone, and Aja jumped back.
"Ack! You're right, Krel, we do have to continue! Goodbye, Steve! We can call later!" She waved goodbye as she followed her brother down the street.
Steve waved back, then went down to the next bookstore. A bike whirred behind him as he crept inside. The bell on the door startled him, and he let out an undignified shriek.
"Ah, a shriek like that can only be Mr. Palchuk," A woman's voice said from behind the counter. Ms. Janeth stepped into view. "What brings you here?"
She wasn't being mean, or sarcastic, or anything like that. She sounded truly happy that he had stopped by, even if he'd been nothing but trouble for the majority of his time with her in school. Steve shuffled his feet.
"I- I'm shopping for someone. Do you know Blinky?" Steve blurted.
Ms. Janeth raised a thin eyebrow. "Jim's troll mentor?"
"You do know him!" Steve yelled in excitement.
She shushed him. "We've met once, but Jim's told me a lot about him recently. What about him?"
"I'm supposed to get him a gift for a gift exchange, but I don't know what he'd like other than books! So, I'm book shopping." Steve sighed. "Do you know what kinds of books he might like?"
Ms. Janeth hummed. "Why don't we try the Grimm's fairytales? Of course, he might think that they actually happened, but he might enjoy some of the morals and twists in them as well."
Steve nodded. "That sounds like a good place to start."
Ms. Janeth placed a heavy, gilded book in Steve's hands. Steve purchased it, and exited the store. He didn't feel like that was enough, though, so he stopped by the all-purpose mart.
He passed by Jim's bike as he entered the store, and went straight towards the electronics department. He picked up a polaroid camera and a few rolls of film. He'd poked around the day they'd drawn names, and noted that Blinky had many hand drawn pictures of the group, but no photos. So Steve thought Blinky would like a chance to get realistic images of all the kids.
Steve went back home, satisfied with his gift. Blinky was gonna be so happy.
--
Blinky would be much happier if he could just remember who he was supposed to be giving a gift to.

Part five: Skin of stone, where'd that paper go?
Blinky cursed as he quickly flipped through yet another book. He couldn't remember who he had for Master Jim's little surprise gift exchange, and he's lost the paper in his pile of books. So was shuffling through the pile, his four arms and six eyes working overtime trying to find it.
He couldn't ask Aaarrrghhh for help, since he couldn't know who Blinky had for the exchange, but Blinky's patience was wearing thin. He needed an assist, and soon.
Gibberish floated up from below the table, and Blinky peered underneath to see Chompsky chattering to his strange doll obsession.
"Ah, Chompsky. Excellent timing. I need your help, since you are not participating in the 'Secret Santa'. I am missing a small piece of paper with a name on it. It's about yey big," Blinky demonstrated with his fingers.
Chompsky looked up at the troll for a minute, chattered briefly, and then scampered off. The gnome ran across the floor to the bookshelf, then ran up the bookshelf, stopping only at the highest shelf. Chompsky pulled out a book, and pulled a scrap of paper from between the pages.
"Heehoo!" Chompsky cooed at Blinky, waving the paper back and forth.
"Thank you, Chompsky! Please bring it here, I must read the name off of it."
Chompsky blew a raspberry, but jumped down and gave the paper to Blinky.
"Thank you, truly you are the most noble of gnomes." Blinky flipped the paper over and peered at it. "Ah! I am to be serving... Master Tobias?"
Blinky pondered this development. "What would Tobias enjoy as a gift?"
Blinky began to pace, shoving the paper into his pocket as he did so. "What does Tobias like? He enjoys trollhunting. He likes his hammer. He very much likes to eat." Blinky paused. "Perhaps I could get him something that he can make food with!"
Blinky grabbed the phone that Master Jim had given to him for quick contact, and navigated around. He had heard marvelous tales about something called "online shopping" on "Amazon". Blinky was fairly sure that the Amazon was a rainforest, but there was a website by that name.
Blinky clicked on it, and it asked for him to make an account. Blinky frowned, and called the only person he trusted to help him navigate.
"Hello, Blinkous, how may I help you?" Stricklander greeted as he entered the cave, ducking slightly to avoid hitting his head on the doorframe.
"How does one use this 'Amazon' website? I wish to get a gift from Tobias from here, as all the stores in the human world tend to close after dark, and I don't yet have an umbrella for shade." Blinky showed Stricklander the screen. "It keeps asking me to make an 'account'."
Stricklander sighed and produced his own phone. "What are you intending to get for young Tobias? I can bring the package down to Trollmarket when it arrives."
"Let me see," Blinky said, snatching the phone from Stricklander's hands. "Something that he can make food with, since he enjoys eating so much."
Something caught Blinky's eye. "Easy-Bake? That sounds simple enough for Tobias to handle." Blinky followed the steps to purchase the item (With Stricklander's credit card), then handed the phone back to the changeling. "Thank you, Walter. I'm sure Tobias will enjoy this 'Easy-Bake'."
A faint smile drifted across Walt's features. "Oh, of course. I can't wait to see his reaction to your lovely, well-thought out gift."
Stricklander left, and Blinky frowned. Something about that whole exchange seemed odd, but Stricklander was a changeling, so it made sense for him to be off-putting sometimes.
Blinky returned to his books, humming an old tune. Tobias would enjoy the gift, he was sure. Absently, he wondered who Tobias was giving a gift to.

Oh, I do love writing magic teacher Douxie...
(featuring a self-insert. read with caution, mentions of self harm scars. Douxie fluff tho. self insert can also be read as an x reader if so desired.)
Nyx sighed and returned to her chair, pouting a bit that Krel didn't look like an alien. Her left ear started ringing as she opened her book again. Then a flash of blue light flashed through the bookstore.
"Oh, great Gaylen!" Krel's frustrated voice followed.
Nyx ran to the corner, and stopped in awe. Her head twinged a bit, but she paid it no mind.
Now that's an alien.
Krel was frowning at his extra arms. Nyx wasn't sure where all the extra mass came from, but he was bigger now that he was blue and glowy than when he'd been disguised as a human. Douxie pushed past her to check on Krel.
"Everything cool?" Douxie asked.
"No! My transductor just broke! It's not supposed to ever break!" Krel grumbled, fiddling with something small.
"Hm. Can I see?" Douxie asked, motioning to the transductor. Krel handed it over, still frowning. Douxie looked it over, brows knit together. "Hmm. This might be a good time for a lesson. Nyx, please come here."
Nyx did so, guilt twinging in her stomach. Did I break it somehow?
Douxie showed her the transductor, and pointed to the center of the damage. "Look right here. There's a rune there. Do you see it?" Nyx looked closely, and nodded when she saw it. "Good, good. Now note the color, how it's different from the base color of the transductor."
Nyx saw the color, and looked at her hands guiltily. Douxie gently patted her shoulder. "Here's what happened. Claire told you the whole story yesterday, so you knew Krel was an extra-terrestrial. You were hoping to get proof of that, right?" When Nyx nodded sheepishly, Douxie continued, his voice still kind. "But he came in disguised. Your magic then responded to your disappointment and curiosity, causing the transductor to break and reveal what he actually looks like."
Douxie looked at her when she sniffed. "Oh, Nyx, lovely, don't cry! You only just unlocked your magic, this is normal! This is why we're learning control over it. No one's mad at you, darling."
"I don't know, I'm a little mad," Krel muttered.
Douxie shot Krel a glare as Nyx started sobbing silently into his sweater. He floated the transductor back to the other male, a rune glowing as both the machine and Krel returned to their previous states.
"Take your time with your book," Douxie said as he picked Nyx up. He carried her to the chair she'd been occupying earlier, and sat her down, speaking as he did so. "Listen to me, Nyx. Magic is emotion. When you're feeling strong emotions, magic can happen. Now, I am not going to tell you to bottle yourself up-" here, he gently tapped the scars on her left arm- "but I need you to breathe in. And breathe out. There you go. Two more times. Now, look at me."
Nyx did as he asked, wiping her face as best as she could. "There is a way for you to notice if you're doing unintentional magic. It's different for every wizard, but if you figure it out, you can catch yourself and stop the spell. Personally, my pinky finger aches." Douxie laughed, making Nyx smile a little bit. She let out a half a giggle.
Douxie summoned a box of tissues, and handed it to her. "I'm going back to the counter. Cheer up. We'll grab coffee at my midday break."
