#inscryption #kaycee's mod #ant deck #skull storm daily #WOOO first ant run! though it. didn't use as many ants as it could have for sure #i got two corpse maggots though and like a pair of both dire wolves and bears #i wanted to put sigils on both of them and myco them both together but i never got the chance 😔 sadge #lammergeier clutched out first two bosses as usual of course #i also killed the campfire guys just before boss 1 and snagged a mantis that i got to 3/1- then Another mantis that i myco'd with the first #and after some campfire buffs got it all the way to 4/10 which was fun #VERY helpful for those turn 1 wins for map 3 #kept that first flying ant the whole run too by putting a magpie sigil on it #i think that's really the play whenever you can't get rid of 1 cost cards very easily #you just sac a magpie onto it and then pick out the card you DO want for that turn 1 win #anyway- with the ant run complete that's every starting deck completed for skull storm! #tbh i think ant decks were the hardest run for me to really get the hang of for some reason i can't put my finger on why #i Feel like it has to do with annoying flying ant. it's so frail you can't even put it across from a stump to keep it safe it'll die quick #not a very great card to always draw first for most of the run #saccing my skunk onto it seemed to help at first to cancel out that annoying but saccing a magpie instead was DEFINITELY the play #so with all starting decks finished that's one unofficial goal complete! i don't really have any other goals prepped atm #but i could probably come up with some more- recreating that dope elk morsel totem run is something i REALLY want to do too #hatching and buffing some more curious eggs as much as i can is way up on my list too #as always suggestions are open as is the askbox #may every storm rain down skulls in your own future!

I took an interest in The Bad Batch around the tailend of S2. It's not news to Tumblr that I almost slept on this show. And I cannot thank Caleb Dume enough for being the reason why I pressed the play button for this one. While I haven't been around for most of its active run, and I wish I had been, the last year has been among the best months of my life.

This show challenged my morals, and taught me lessons that I will forever take with me.

Tech taught me to embrace and take pride in who I am. I now think that I am not something that needs to be cured. I needed to be understood and accepted. He taught me that we deserved to be loved and be allowed to live the way we want to (as long as we are not causing harm to ourselves or to others).

Hunter taught me that at the end of the day, we're all still humans. We make mistakes. We fail. But we can learn from them, and we can strive to be better. And I should also take care of my hair bec I cannot accept that a man in a galactic war have better hair than me (Okay, did you honestly think I'm gonna be serious this entire essay?)

Crosshair taught me that at the end of the day, we really are still humans. Sometimes, we make choices that not everyone will understand or agree to. Sometimes, we don't even understand our own choices. But we can learn from them, and we can strive to be better. And that I should also go to therapy bec istg my hand shakes like hell I always need to rely on a pen stabilizer when doing my artworks.

Wrecker taught me that in this world where we can be anything, always choose to be kind. He is a great man who would always be there for everyone, and I hope that one day, I can be that person too. He is afraid of heights, but he climbs and go on high places anyway. Like him, I should also start conquering my fears. Dear Wrecker, I did try conquering my fear of heights last March 9 but I can't. I will try again.

Echo taught me to always fight for the greater good. Almost two years ago, me and a group of people campaigned for a great tomorrow. With pink flags and pink balloons, we worked on our little thing I like to call our rebellion. Sadly, we lost. At times, I am thinking of just giving up bec that's democracy and I cannot go against the people's decision, but characters like Echo and the rest of Rogue One taught me that nothing should ever stop me for fighting for the people's rights and that my love for my fellow citizens should always come first before hatred.

And lastly, Omega taught me to be curious, or more likely to not be ashamed for being curious. Learn about the world. Learn about lots of things. We never know when we need it. While I could say be good at strategy and win 30 grand on card games, nahhh, I'm not that smart.

I also learned to reevalutate myself as an artist. This show taught me integrity. I had ranted about this lately but these characters challenged me in terms of art. I knew that the creators aren't best at proper representation. While I could draw them as they are in the show, I choose to stand for what is right, and represent them as properly as my skills could. In the more technical side, I became good at drawing armors. And this little Actors AU Draw Series taught me to be responsible; I tried my very best to create and post them on time. This increased my productivity.

But enough about me.

There's something I realized two nights ago; we, the fandom, are Bad Batchers ourselves. We can consider ourselves a family, but not one of us is the same and we're all interesting, and capable in our own unique ways. We can have our own opinion and stand about something and still coexist. Like our favorite charactera, we embrace and celebrate our differences.

This show may end. No more Bad Batch Eves, no more cryptic tweets that cause us to hyperventilate, no more Bad Batch Wednesdays but it will live on, through us.

I know there will be a day where we decrease in number, one by one, little by little, but still, the show will live on through our actions, our opinions, our choices we make after May 1, 2024 because I know that all of us were changed in some ways by these characters and this show.

To the crew, your cryptic tweets caused me sleepless nights, but thank you so, so much. It is through your hardwork that we had this wonderful show. Thank you for making every second of the past year so worthwhile and enjoyable for me and for everyone.

However this show will end, whether happy or sad, I am glad it happened. However short my time was with them, I am happy I had been here. However short my time with everyone in the fandom was or if some of you leave one day, still, thank you so much for being part of my life; I am so happy I met all of you.

To Clone Force 99, thank you. I've never loved anything like this before. May the Force be with you.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We have a frightening tale for you today... reader be scare, you're in to beware! Please, come in. Sit in the Chilling Chair at our Terrible Table in our Devious Dining Room. Now, I hope you're hungry, because we've made plenty of PETRIFYING PASTA! Fufufu... let's begin.

It was looking to be a very special Halloween. This particular year, the holiday had fallen on Friday the 13th! Spooktacular! Alas, nobody could go trick or treating, for there was a blood moon that day, and nobody wanted to be outside where their costumes would be stained with all the blood. Sigh... what a boring, uneventful day it was shaping up to be!

But then... a sound right outside. The sound of the mailbox opening and closing. Mail? On this federal holiday? How strange! And a bit disconcerting... who would dare to venture out with the town moist with blood? Maybe a vampire... eep! I opened the door, shivering, worried I may accidentally invite the hypothetical vampire inside, only to find...

Nobody there. No body at all. Just a severed, green hand clinging to the mailbox. So that's what the sound was! And here I was, worried it would be something scary. I shooed the little critter away, and as it scuttled off on its fingers, I saw that it had left something in the mailbox! Something familiar.

Why, it was a copy of Super Mario 64 DS! How generous, a Halloween miracle! I had been wanting to play this lately, but my childhood game card had stopped working. This was shaping up to be a nice Halloween after all! It was a used copy, and it still had the price sticker on it, having been resold at $6.66. Upon seeing this number, I immediately screamed. Someone had gotten an incredible deal on this game!

So, I opened the box. Everything was in great condition! Even the manual was included! I don't remember the manual looking like a torn piece of paper with "I SEE YOU" written on it with blood, but it's been a long time. I know I still have my original manual around somewhere, so no need to flip through this one. I got right to playing the game!

What a rush of nostalgia! There was my friend Mario's funny face on the touch screen, ready to be tapped! And tap I did! Rather than the game drawing the lineart of Mario's face, though, it drew something else. A tombstone with my full name, date of birth, and another, later date written on it. Weird! Must be a weird coincidental thing drawn by the previous owner? I played around with the squiggly lines and spun it around. It was fun :)

I got right into the game, and everything was just as I remembered it! I was visited by Lakitu, went into the castle, and jumped into the first painting, like I had so many times before. But something definitely was strange here. I was reasonably certain that the first mission of Bob-omb Battlefield was not called "Kill The Big Bob-omb Dead" in any version of the game! Nevertheless, I continued on.

That was when I saw it. Where I would expect a Bob-omb Buddy to stand was the most terrifying character design I had ever seen. Against my better judgement, I approached and interacted with it.

"Hi! I'm Bob-omb...

BLOODY!!!"

EEK! I could not believe my eyes! I would expect such material in an "adults only"-rated game, but in MARIO?! I had no idea what to do. I continued playing for some foolish reason, running off toward the Big Bob-omb the way I always would, hoping to find comfort in the familiar. The game felt normal again, aside from how Big Bob-omb left a large splatter of realistic blood on the ground when defeated, and I was mercifully brought back to the safety of Peach's Castle.

And yet... I felt a morbid curiosity. An urge to continue playing. Maybe it was just a glitch? Maybe the second mission would be back to normal, and I would get to see my friend Koopa the Quick? That would be nice. I selected the second mission, and...

It was normal. It was safe. The Bob-ombs, Buddies. Maybe none of that was even real. Maybe I was still shaken up about the knock at the door earlier? Whatever it was, it wasn't important anymore. I could finally play my funny Mario game and have fun! I walked on over to my friend the Koopa and interacted with him.

"Excuse me? Can I help you? Who are you?"

I was confused. Wasn't he supposed to ask for Mario? Wasn't this Koopa the Quick?

And then, as if he heard me, he turned his head. He wasn't looking at Yoshi. He was looking straight through the screen at me, and his eyes were more realistic than ever.

"I'm not Koopa the Quick.

I'm Koopa the TRICK!"

AIIIIIEEEEE!!!

Of course, none of this has been real! Just some Halloween Hijinxs! There is no such thing as a realistic turtle!

the game begins introducing itself as a regular otome school life sim (my condolences to the fans who fell for william first sight only to find out hes not an actual love interest trust me i see u i feel u) but then WHAM BAM!! just when u thougut ur girl best friend was lookin kinda cute she gets X_x in this summon circle and you jump in to save her only to find out youre now in a royal cage surrounded by people that needa sacrifice you to save themselves from their own doom. oh and youre not in your own world anumore good luck have fun

so now here goes the different plots and paths with the love interests. the way i playrd it was as they introduced it, which was ayn aklaid lars claerence. no cael route yet which rips me apart every night. the love interests seem to have consistent values throughout most universes despite all of their diferet upbringings which i find pretty cool considering schoollife and royaltylife are two completely drastic diferent things, and also i nejoy how mc is written with more character and an amazing design to match the rest of the beautifully drawn cast

on that topic the art is GORGEOUS. i have never seen such beautiful detailed art in a game before and i assure you it will not disappoijnt. the graphics and smoothness of the game are especially a great touch. DIY Paper Ranunculus

Project by Susan Beech:

Sometimes, I wish Instagram was a real person so I could shake its hand and give it a huge hug for the endless amounts of inspiration it provides. From discovering great new home tours, photographers and florists to talented DIYers, I am constantly screengrabbing things and sending them to myself to follow up on later. This week’s final DIY project before the holiday is one I’ve been excited to post for weeks. I follow a number of crafters online, but few inspire me as much as Susan Beech. Susan’s Instagram account, A Petal Unfolds, is full of beautiful paper flowers. Most of the time I can’t believe they’re not real, but especially in the case of her rich purple and red ranunculi. They looked so much like the real thing that I wrote to her to ask if we could do a how-to together. Thankfully she was game and today I’m thrilled to share her project, just in time for holiday centerpieces. xo, grace

Materials:

-Single Ply crepe paper 40g (I use a piece about 23cm/9in x 50cm/20in for each flower) in reds, purples and a green for the stems -2 cm diameter Polystyrene balls -Florist wire, 20 gauge –Aleene’s Tacky Glue (the Turbo Tacky Glue is my favourite to use) -Hot glue gun and glue stick -Scissors -Thick card for templates -Pencil -Ruler -Wire cutters –Petal Template

Tips for working with crepe paper:

•When working on this flower, the grain of the paper must always run with the height of the petals, so your grain will run from the top of the petal to the bottom and not across. •Cupping a petal involves holding the petal between your thumb and forefingers of both hands and then gradually stretching the petal carefully and evenly in to a curved shape. •Stretching the paper means holding the paper at both ends with your thumb and forefinger and gently stretching until it can’t be stretched further.

Instructions:

Refer to petal template, draw out template and cut this out of the card.

Cut strips of crepe paper about 3cm wide and cut out your petals. You will need approximately 75 for each flower. I tend to cut out my petals and keep them as they are in their little piles, as it’s easier to trim the petals down to the different sizes later.

Cut floral wire into lengths about 16cm long.

Find the center of the polystyrene ball and insert floral wire with a little hot glue on the end. I push the wire in about a centimeter. Once the glue has cooled slightly, I press any above the surface down onto the polystyrene so it doesn’t create too much of a bump around the base of the wire. This is the only time you need to use the hot glue.

Cut a little circle of crepe for the very dark center base of your ranunculus flower. I tend to use a darker shade of the colour I plan to do the whole flower in. A brown/green colour can be good, too. Stretch the paper a little and glue to the top of the polystyrene ball.

For the first batch of petals (center petal) you will need approximately 45 to be cut about 1cm from the top across the width. Lightly cup each petal in the center between your thumb and forefinger to give the petal a little shape. The petal template shows the petal when cut down and stretched. Apply a small amount of glue along the straight bottom edge.

These first petals will be forming the very center circle. Place the first petal so that the top edge almost meets the center of the polystyrene ball, holding the petal down so it is sure to stick. Glue the edge of your next petal and overlap it on the previous petal about 50%, positioning it so it is forming a little curve away from the previous. Continue doing this with your next petals until you have formed your center circle. Throughout making the flower, you will be overlapping your petals and you will be able to keep track of where you need to place your next petal because the last petal you glued down will be the one that hasn’t been overlapped yet.

For the next row of petals, you will bring the layer slightly down from the edge of the center circle and then continue overlapping round and round, following the center circle, bringing the layers down until you have completely filled the center of your flower.

Your next set of petals are the outer petals on the petal template and you will need about 30. These petals are cut across about 2mm from the bottom of the petal and are cupped in the middle.

With this layer I tend to bring the petals up around the center of the flower a little. Continue overlapping the petals as before and applying a little glue along the bottom edge. Once you have completed one layer, bring the next layer down slightly and continue around and around as before.

Once you’ve reached a point where you are happy with the shape of your flower (I usually do about 5 layers of outer petals), cup 4 full-size petals deeply to give the bottom of the flower a full shape. I glue this down along the bottom edge as before, but this time I simply glue the petals down overlapping at 90 degrees with each other to cover any remaining polystyrene that is showing and any of the hot glue.

Stems & Calyx

To make the calyx, I cut a strip of green crepe about 2cm wide, across the grain, accordion fold and hand cut out a little leaf shape 2cm in height, cupping slightly in the middle to give a little shape. Glue the end of the calyx shape, then push the glued paper up against the base of the wire, pinching the paper to it once it is stuck down. I apply four of these to each flower.

For the stems, cut a strip of crepe about 1cm wide and 13cm across and stretch it. The paper should be cut across the grain. Apply a little glue to one end and fold this over the top of the wire underneath the calyx. Hold the flower in your right hand and twist the paper down the stem with your left (or whichever is easiest for you), trying to keep the stem as smooth as possible by wrapping tightly and pinching the paper in as you go. I also apply small amounts of glue after every 6 turns or so to keep the paper secure. When you get to the end of the wire, cut the paper down to just above the wire, apply a little glue, fold the top over the wire and pinch the rest of the paper around to seal. I usually repeat wrapping the stem a few times to get the thickness I prefer.

Now you have your finished flower and you can style it as you wish – by shaping the stem and also gently bringing down a few of the lower petals of the flower if you like.

Today's sleeper is another white "ramp" option, but it's much more than that. If you've played standard in the past year, you've likely played with or against Restoration of Eiganjo. If you haven't, let me present you this fantastic card.

First of all, it's a saga. I'm biased because I love sagas, but I think they're one of the best additions to the game in the past decade.

The crux of it is its second chapter. Very important to it is that because of its specific wording (as a reflexive trigger if you want to be technical), you pick the target to bring back only AFTER you discarded, which means it can bring back the same card you discarded. So it readd something more along the lines of

Choose one -

Put a permanent card with mana value 2 or less from your hand onto the battlefield tapped.

Discard a card, return a permanent card with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

At the very minimum, it's (pretty bad) white ramp on turn 4, since you can always bring back a land, and it fetches one on chapter 1 to guarantee you have one (or you're hitting your land drops instead of missing them, even better!)

At that, it's similar to a Solemn Simulacrum as far as ramping, but a bunch more utility attached instead of the card draw. If you're not ramping, you can bring back a pair of boots, or a blood artist, or a selfless spirit or just a spirited companion to turn that mode into a rummage that gives you a creature. Or put it into play from your hand for free as a pseudo-ritual.

And then you get the creature half. It's nothing broken like Fable of the Mirror-breaker, but it's a solid attacker and blocker that will allow you to avoid basically any small attacks while providing a bit of damage and creatures to do whatever with.

The card isn't an all-star in any deck, but it will be a solid roleplayer in most decks with white, and given how many different things it does, it can actually synergize with a vast array of decks and strategies found in white. Flickering? It's a creature so flickering it easy once it flips, and it guarantees your land drops when you reset it that way. Tokens? The back has you covered. A hatebear strategy? The second mode will incidentally bring back many of the options of the deck that hate removal. Playing an Isshin deck? There's an attack trigger right there. A counter deck? Sagas function with lore counters that can be proliferate to speed through it or removed to repeat its best parts.

Despite the play it sees in standard and its wide range of applications, it currently costs under 50 cents, so it seems like a great addition to almost any deck that can run it.

I put the SPN ones first, but technically I've been trying to break my writer's block by returning to The Great Gatsby (It's all Nick/Gatsby btw, just realized that might not be immediately evident) with limited success. It's always come easier for me. But all of this is stuff I do actively want to work on.

I think the name is pretty explanatory? The gist of it is they go after the same guy and become pseudo-enemies but they keep bumping into each other like this and decide to work together after a while 👍 this is a really bad hook LMAO. Anyway, I'm trying to build on the idea that they work REALLY well together when they do it intentionally but fail comically when they don't.

Pretty much what it says on the tin as well. No Supernatural AU. Dean goes to a community college to get a certification to help with his work elsewhere, but Cas, a figure drawing model, catches him drawing (which Dean's been doing on and off as a hobby) and tries to get him to sign up for the arts program.

I technically only have a summary of this, and I'm not entirely sure if I will write it all out, but I do want to at least put more time into the development before I dedicate to giving up on it bc of scope lol. I just have SUCH a soft spot for fake relationship AUs. Also, I just found out that while I have FINALLY aged into independent FAFSA eligibility, I am once again tax bracketed out. Anyway, financial abuse is real and I want to project my suffering onto Dean. Also immigrant Cas, but I haven't decided where I want him to be from yet. I think this has a lot of potential for some pretty hefty character redesigns too so it's also compelling to me from that angle. I guess I could also write it for TGG, but I did initially think of it for Destiel, so.

I don't know how to explain this one very well except that I had unhelpfully written "poolboy au" in my notes and then proceeded to forget what the hell I meant. This fic was an attempt to resurrect that but ended up being a funky modern West Coast re-imagining where Gatsby can't even "make it" as much as he wants to, and Nick can't find a place to live except for a less-than-legally rented pool house. It's not meant to be a full rewrite or anything though.

Uhhh yeah, I'm keeping the details private for this one ahaha but that's just because it wasn't supposed to be a big deal and I told a friend she would see what it was when it was done...like oh god probably a month ago at this point... My original scope for this was quite small, but research for it, indecision, and a nasty case of writer's block that I've had for nearly a year now have kept development a bit slow. Hopefully, I'll finish it before the year comes to a close.

I also don't know how to explain this one well other than "after being rejected by Daisy (Canon Divergent), Gatsby attempts to buy his way into a bewildered Nick's heart. Though the fic is from Nick's POV, Gatsby's just had his worldview shattered and is in a bit of denial, but instead of pursuing Daisy harder, he channels all of that energy into Nick (though he's not really sure why he's doing it at first). I wasn't sure what to put up at the top because I absolutely don't want my code name for this public at least until it's done LMAO.

Heh heh. Well, that’s a funny one. Lorehold certainly has some new archeologists these days. I’m struggling a little bit to find any kind of story with this one, or at least I’m hoping that there’s more of an anthropomorphic bend, but animals and planeswalkers and yadda yadda—I don’t know enough about the intricacies to really be an expert on the specifics. I will say that the silliness factor would be welcome by some, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Besides, people like dogs.

People also like spirits, and wow, this card’s got some interesting mechanics to it. What I really like about the Spirit and the +1 is that it encourages you to get your Treasure for the Spirit, but Treasures beg to be cracked, so it means you’ll have to engage with how you want to play your cards in order to make the best turns. Optimization, that’s a word for it. This is a simple mythic that’s got a lot of beatdown capabilities and I can see it in a supplemental set for sure as one of the more lighthearted aspects with a cool artifact theme in these draftable colors. I almost wish there was a way to self-mill, but that’s not the point of this card; the rest you have to build around

I would like to run this card with White Sun’s Twilight or Trash for Treasure.

I don’t know how to feel about that static ability—in a curious rather than a critiquing way. Everything else about this card, just to be clear, is amazing. Looking up the number of Monarch-able cards in black, there are only nine, one of which is a Transformers card. The pedant in me says that this kind of design may be frustrating to players who don’t know what the Monarch ability is. The opposing side of me says that well, cards like Vraska, Betrayal’s Sting has two non-evergreen mechanics (proliferate and poison) and doesn’t explain that either, and Tezzeret Bridge-Boy is there too, etc. BUT but, the pedant says again, none of the cards that reference the monarch have the mechanics explained on any of their printing, and you need the specific token/marker in the booster pack you buy, that Tezzeret is a promo and doesn’t count, etc. etc. It’s a quite fascinating discussion. In the end, I feel that it would be a card that merits explanation for new players, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s also intrinsically steep in your necessitated knowledge.

That’s all that aside. Let’s get to the good stuff. I LOVE the way this card works. The +1 is definitely powerful in the right build but far and away not easy—unless you’re Bitterblossoming, baby! Lots of cool ways to make that work. The deathtouch tokens are radical, as both blockers and aggressors to regain the monarch ability. That -10 is one of the most unique abilities I’ve seen as a huge ult and it’s so evil that if you’re the monarch you can just -9 and after four turns of harsh sacrifice and draw you’ve gotten to a point where you’re giving folks choices they don’t want to make in a big multiplayer brawl. Very fun. Fantastic name. Great play feel all around.

I would play this card with Feast of Succession or The Elderspell, just to be extra mean.

Oh my goodness, I was about to comment on that first ability’s wording, but no, yeah, you have it down, that’s the right way to put it; I completely forgot about Future Sight-effects. That makes sense! Surveiling being evergreen-ish also checks out here. Which makes this card such a massive pain. The thing is, because that +1 is always going to get you a blocker, it acts as though it’s creating a Faerie token even though it’s not actually, and then bumping up the loyalty is free protection. Perhaps, for balance, you could have it be a 0 ability that, if you mill the card, adds a loyalty? That’s my only actual critique, though; the term “Spellyard” being meta is just me giving you the “C’mon, I need story immersion” look. Maybe the old border’s a little not the right choice for this particular contest, either, but I know you have your signatures, heh heh.

The second ability is my favorite, and this whole card in general? I’m feeling gleeful. Having that -2 being able to Scooze someone is really funny, and even though it doesn’t directly interact with the static ability, it doesn’t have to in order to be good. It’s flexible enough to work with your own cards as a build-around while also postulating that you can discard/destroy/mill things your opponents control in these colors naturally and it’ll be enough to wreck face. And by “wreck face” I mean “have a control build that’s fun and faerie-centered.” Very nice job with that. A limited fun-pick, a constructed pleasantry, and an Oathbreaker scheme.

I think if the Faeries were Rogues, I’d play this card with Norotious Throng, but as it stands, I’d run it with Memory Sluice or Lim-Dul’s Vault.

Potionomics Deck Infinity How To Play So the deck is great but how do we run it and what are the purposes of some of these cards? Theme This is a Chorus-Speed deck. All that means is the goal is to play as many cards as possible every turn and to maximize the power of Chorus. Chorus is super powerful. Every time you play the card it becomes more powerful by 5. First Use - 5 Interest Second Use - 10 Interest Third Use - 15 Interest ... Sixth Use - 30 Interest For 1 Patience, there is no card that beats it in the mid-game. This deck is built around maximizing that Chorus bonus and allowing you to end the transaction on your terms. Order Of Operations Let's talk about which cards are more important to play than others. Most Important Cards - In Order - Rhythm - Two Is Better Than One - Improv Other Important Cards - Scheme - Press The Attack - Meditate - Ferocity of the Squirrel Why these cards? The above cards are what make the deck function. Improv, Scheme, and Press The Attack are all of your card draw. The more cards you draw, the more you can play. Improv first, then Scheme, then Press The Attack if you have no other card draw options. Press The Attack is purely here to give you more opportunities to draw Improv and Scheme. Meditate is critical for keeping your Stress levels low. Because you are drawing too many cards, even 10% Stress can be a disaster as useful cards get turned into Stress cards and can create a massive Stress spiral. Never start a transaction above 12% Stress if you can help it. 15% can become 40% very quickly and drawing Stress cards will completely ruin this deck. Ferocity of the Squirrel is here as it helps supplement poor RNG. Every card you play inflicts 2 Interest when Ferocity of the Squirrel is active, meaning even if you get some bad RNG you are always inflicting Interest and moving towards the end goal. It also means that playing Meditate to reduce your Stress also applies Interest at the same time, so you can max out someone's Interest while simultaneously reducing your Stress. Pressure is in the deck to be used once you have duplicated Chorus once or twice. It allows you to have extra card draw and finish out a turn asap at the potential expense of discarding other useful cards. Only use Pressure as a last resort card draw as all your other card draw options are superior. Rhythm is where this deck truly gets broken. Once this card is played just one time, your next turn becomes effectively infinite and the fun begins. If you draw Rhythm make sure that when you play it and end your turn that at the Start of your next turn you have at least 3 Patience.

Potionomics Deck Infinity What do I duplicate? So how do we use Two Is Better Than One? This card allows you to duplicate a single card in your deck and have it remain in your deck for the entire transaction. This is perfect as it is a massive enabler. As drawing this is mostly RNG based it is good to have a few options to duplicate depending on what you are dealt. The cards you will want to duplicate are - In Order - Improv x2 - Chorus x3 - Jingle/Captivate x2 (one of each or two of one) - Meditate x1 (if you are in double-digit Stress) Never duplicate Deep Connection. To play Deep Connection it must be the only card in your hand. If you have two in your deck and draw both at the same time, you can play neither card. If you don't get any of the five above cards, don't be afraid to end your turn without duplicating anything. If you duplicate too many cards it will flood your deck and no longer be useful, so make sure you only duplicate a few times and don't let your deck get any bigger than 27 cards. It is totally okay if your hand has so many cards in it they go off the screen

Don't be afraid to Close Deal early If you see if you stick around for a turn you will get 10 Stress, don't be afraid to Close Deal. Ideally we want to close the deal only once we have hit max Interest; however, it is important to make sure your Stress stays low. You might need to restart the transaction once if you get some properly abysmal RNG but that should be apparent on the first or second customer. You don't have to play every card! If you have 0 Stress, don't play Meditate. There is no need to play Ferocity of the Squirrel twice. If you don't need to duplicate, don't duplicate. Never be afraid to end your turn with cards in your hand. The whole purpose of this deck is to ensure you are drawing cards and playing 10-15 cards every turn. If your hand ends up not helping you draw cards, reduce Stress, increase Interest, or close out the deal, end your turn and draw a new hand. There is no harm in saving Patience for a later turn. It is very easy to overplay cards and then find out you don't have enough Patience to continue the transaction, so don't feel pressured to play everything every turn. The main caveat to this is if you can play Meditate to max out Interest or if you have Deep Connection in your hand and you want to get that +4 Patience, play those cards and reap the rewards. Whether or not you play a card is situational. Read the room and see if it makes sense to play the card or to throw it in the discard and draw a new hand. General Gameplay Tip Plan Your Day - What is your Brew? - What is your Stress? - What is your Gold? - What did you do Yesterday? If you plan your day, you can always have a successful day and push towards every competition with success! Alternate Deck Differing Heart Requirements Muktuk - Rank 5 The Deck Like the idea but don't want to deal with deciding when to copy a card and when to not? Not super comfortable with deck builders or card games? Here is an alternate version that plays similarly and is a bit easier to manage while still keeping the majority of its potency. - Chorus x4 - Captivate x2 - Improv x2 - Jingle x2 - Press The Attack x2 - Scheme x2 - Bravado x1 - Build Rapport x1 - Ferocity of the Squirrel x1 - Guided Thought x1 - Meditate x1 - Mulligan x1 - Pressure x1 If you don't have Mulligan from Owl then you can replace it with Deep Connection as it will help give you more Patience and prolong the transaction so you can play more cards.

Alternate Strategy This follows a similar strategy as listed above. However, there is no Two Is Better Than One, so a few things were changed to facilitate this. Bravado is added, a Rank 5 Muktuk card, and this will need to be one of the first cards you play on your turn. It gives a +3 Interest for every card played, similar to Ferocity of the Squirrel, but it only lasts for two turns so play all the cards you can! Build Rapport is also added here to facilitate two turns of Sympathy. Sympathy + Chorus will mean your fourth Chorus will deliver 25 Interest for 1 Patience and maximize your passive gains from Bravado and Ferocity of the Squirrel. Mulligan is added in this deck in the event you draw Stress cards. You can use Mulligan to redraw your Stress cards and turn useless cards into useful cards. Guided thought follows the same line of thinking as Mulligan. The purpose of Guided Thought here is to lower your Stress and keep up the momentum. As this deck is not duplicating Chorus, it is imperative there are more opportunities to apply Interest and Guided Thought does just that while still enabling Stress reduction strategies. “Do I Need To Watch Breaking Bad to Enjoy Better Call Saul?”

This is for @actuallylorelaigilmore who I told I would compile a bit of info on BrBa for so that she could jump right into BCS without watching it, but I figured others might have the same interest so here it is.

Short answer is no, you do not. I don’t like BrBa at all (nobody @ me, it’s exhausting to watch and Walter White is trash) and BCS is my favorite show. My knowledge of BrBa has been compiled from the few episodes I watched, some general pop culture osmosis, and skim-watching for all of the Saul scenes in season two and on.

But if you want some basic Saul-specific knowledge so you’re on the same footing as the people who did watch BrBa, this should be enough (and much of this you may have known already just from how prevalent BrBa is in pop culture). It’s a great time to start BCS since the mid-season finale of the sixth and final season is tomorrow night- you’ll have time to catch up and can then suffer the back half of season six live with the rest of us. 

BrBa spoilers obviously, but only in like a very loose and general way.

Saul Goodman (real name Jimmy McGill, although I think when BrBa was airing he only referenced “McGill” once and didn’t give a first name) is a defense attorney in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The main characters Walt and Jesse are cooking and selling meth, and they hire Saul to be their lawyer and launder the money they make in the drug business (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhsUHDJ0BFM). He has a lot of shady contacts and is able to help them form some connections throughout the show, and is overall pretty down with doing scummy things. There is at least one point where Walt has done something horrible and Saul tries to back out of working for him anymore, but he effectively gets intimidated into continuing.

At the end of the series when it becomes clear that law enforcement has figured out where the meth money is going and that Saul is involved, he goes to one of his contacts known as “the disappearer”, who runs a vacuum cleaner repair business and provides false identities and relocation to people looking to escape the law. He sets Saul up with a fake ID and tells him he’ll be going to Nebraska, and that’s the last we see of him.

That’s... kind of it, really. There are a number of characters in BrBa that are going to show up in BCS, but most of them are in a “oh hey look who it is!” kind of way. So while it may go over your head, I don’t think it will diminish your enjoyment of BCS at all since BCS is a prequel.

Maybe one other thing to keep in mind about Saul in BrBa is that we never see his home or learn anything personal about him or about his life outside of work. One of the biggest mysteries as we move forward in BCS is the question of “where is Kim?” during the BrBa timeline, because she does not appear at all. Certain people will insist that this must mean she’s dead, but those of us with critical thinking skills recognize that since BrBa came first, the character of Kim had not even been invented yet*. And while part of the draw of BCS is seeing what exactly is leading Jimmy McGill into becoming Saul Goodman, I pretty firmly take the stance that Kim dying isn’t it. Frankly, the writing has always been better than that. The show might ultimately tear our still-beating hearts out of our chests, but I’m very confident that the way they do it will be extremely nuanced and well-written.

With 2022 drawing to an end, I’m going to talk a bit about my top five favourite games of the year...

Is that a thing people do on Tumblr? Well, it’s a thing I’m going to do because I need to ramble about my fixations somewhere!

5) Kirby and the Forgotten Land

I feel like I was too hard on Kirby and the Forgotten Land when it came out. When it first released, I was surprisingly indifferent to it? I enjoyed it overall, sure, but found it to be a surprisingly “safe” game for Kirby’s first* 3D outing... but as the year has gone on I have grown to appreciate it more.

In the game, you play as Kirby (or, if you’re the second player, Bandana Dee) and explore an Earth-like planet, trying to rescue Waddle Dees and solve the mystery of what is happening... Like most Kirby games, it takes a hard turn into cosmic horror in the last 30 minutes, but the game is still a very cute, relaxing, and cozy experience overall...

*Yes, yes, I have played Kirby’s Blowout Blast. I meant, like, traditional 3D Kirby.

4) Horizon Forbidden West

I’m not convinced I actually... like open world games, to be honest? Like, there’s so much discourse about map markers and progression and the best ways of guiding someone across a world, but my general experience of open world games is getting bored very quickly, regardless of the approach the progression takes...

I do really like Horizon though and I think that’s primarily because of the strength of its worldbuilding. I played the original game on a whim, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the world, the mysteries, and the characters... and Horizon Forbidden West really just improved on all of those! The parts of the world explored in the Forbidden West feels a lot more unique then other pieces of media, in both design and lore, and due to it being a sequel it is able to lean into worldbuilding around things that were plot twists in the original game.

Also this is one of the only non-indie games where there were enough queer characters that, at a certain point, I lost track of how many there were. So that’s neat too.

3) Potionomics

I think Potionomics is the defining 2022 game for me. It just embodies a lot of what I played overall this year, as a game including life simulation, deckbuilding, and romance elements...

In Potionomics, you play as Sylvia, who has just inherited her uncle’s potion shop. With the help of a talking owl that just so happens to be living in the store, you have to brew potions and ascend to greatness, while navigating such #relatable challenges as “debt” and “anxiety.”

I think I’m always going to love games that gamify ordinary experiences. There’s just something inherently entertaining to me of the absurdity of having a deck-building system full of normal experiences and where the main goal of “combat” is to sell people a potion without accidentally getting too stressed and having a panic attack...

2) Marvel’s Midnight Suns

I think Midnight Suns could have been marketed a little bit better. I’m not an advertising expert, of course, but my impulse is that if you have a game that is half Fire-Emblem-style socialization and slice-of-life antics, then maybe you should... advertise that half of the game and not just show off the combat? As, yeah, this is a tactical card-based Marvel superhero game, but it is also a game where you can run around the Abbey trying to find the cat of your adopted Sapphic ghost mom Agatha Harkness.

I’m really enjoying both sides of the game. The combat is sleek and fun, the social aspects are really entertaining, and they have made the loop between them very fulfilling. Plus the Hero Ops provide so many easter eggs and cameos that this is easily the most fleshed-out a superhero game’s world has felt, at least to me.

1) Monster Roadtrip

Breaking News: Amageish likes Monster Prom.

In Monster Roadtrip, you join your friends Polly Giest (a party-loving ghost) and Scott Howl (a very caring and very stupid werewolf) on a roadtrip. With up to four players, you take turns choosing where to go and trying to avoid any of your stats reaching 0, which would leave you stranded on the side of the road...

I think this is the best-balanced Monster Prom series game thus far by a country mile. In this game, every choice you make will modify your stats in both positive and negative ways, allowing for a lot more adaptability then previous entries. It’s also a much more refined multiplayer experience as all players sharing resources means you’re constantly engaged in what as happening, as opposed to previous titles where, if your friends weren’t actively trying to romance the same people as each other, your experiences were largely unconnected from each other. This game also doesn’t require or expect you to be interested in sex and romance, which is very nice...

Beyond that, this game is just very funny. I think they nail down their tone more and more every time. It has a lot of unique art and sprites used for one-two scenes, which are just a delight to see.

And that’s my thoughts! It’s been a solid year for games, at least from what I’ve played, and I enjoyed what I played!!!

Sanctuary for All, Part 1 Thoughts

*I always forget how different Will is in the pilot compared to the rest of the series. So desperate for someone to take him seriously that he's resorting to rambling to the waitress about his observations.

*Will finding a Russian nesting doll and immediately assuming the family is Russian or Ukranian. Like. Do you know how common those are, my guy?

*Alexi has ADHD confirmed.

*Kinda want to incorporate Joe into The Time Wars, even if it's as a bit part.

*Forever obsessed with the bit where Will narrowly avoids being hit by Ashley on a motorcycle only to IMMEDIATELY get hit by Helen in a car.

*OK but the way Will immediately covered for Magnus. Didn't tell anyone he'd seen the person who hit him or anything. He didn't know who she was, and maybe he didn't even know why he was covering for her, but he knew she was important.

*That's not how lineups work. That's not how any of this works. A lineup consists of more than one person.

*Oh BTW Will's hair was super curly when he was a kid. I choose to believe it still is when he doesn't put four million products in it.

*Eleanor! Hey remember when it was established that Helen Magnus had friends? And hung out with people she saw in her day to day life?

*JOHN AND HIS LOCKET OF HELEN

*John acting almost shy in this scene is painful. Especially knowing what's coming.

*Will desperately trying to convince someone, anyone to listen to him. Also just... The way Joe and Meg really are trying to help Will, in their own ways. They're wrong, but they don't know that.

*Helen is so dramatic, especially in reaching out to Will, and Will just. Doesn't Engage. "Lady, I'm getting soaked here. What do you what?" Just does not let her draw him into the drama.

*Okay but the way he makes her smile, even from the beginning. Her amusement. Her oh, this will be fun.

*One of my favorite things about this episode from a narrative perspective is the way they save the Ashley reveal for so far into it. Through most of the first part, Ashley and Helen are framed as Opposing Forces looking for the boy. (.... Oh hey not like I need another AU, but that would make a great AU.)

*Tbh I really do like Meg. Wish she could have been more of a character.

*Will. Will, what is that book organization? Will.

Will, you're stressing me out.

*EC or not, there's definitely comparisons and contrasts between Meg's relationship with Will and Helen's relationship with Will. (Specifically humor, and also the contrast of Meg thinking he's crazy and him looking at Magnus' business card.)

*Magnus' excitement when Will says he doesn't know why she's looking for the boy is so fun.

*I forgot how HUGE the Sanctuary is from the outside.

*The one time teleporting into an EM shield just bounces him back. Also him laughing as he hits the ground, so fond of Helen... John, you're a DistasterTM.

*"Next time you just want some company, don't give your number out to strangers on the street." Ajdmsjsjdm Helen's sitting here trying to be all dramatic and mysterious, and Will's just like. "I diagnose you with Loneliness." And. He's not totally wrong.

*Ashley knocking out those cops just adds to the perceived contrast. We're so nervous that it looks like she'll get to the kid before Helen.

*Hey wait there's a clock on the wall when Will walks into the Sanctuary lab. We can see what time-WAIT THERE ARE TWO CLOCKS SET FOR DIFFERENT TIMES. ONE SEC. Wait, no, there's at least 3. All different times. Huh.

*Okay it looks like every pillar has a clock set to a different time. Nice detail actually.

*Love that the example for "Other [Abnormals] can't be allowed to run free" shows up multiple times throughout the series running free, including the VERY NEXT EPISODE.

*Flying Person should have been a major character.

*"He's just as unnerved by you." Ajdkfksms Biggie's characterization probably changes more than any other's throughout this show.

*Such a fascinating thing how Helen speaks so highly of Abnormals, but never refers to herself as one unless absolutely necessary. They're valuable, but they're still "Other" to her.

*Why does Ashley sign her texts? Ma'am you're texting your mother. Does she not know your number?

*Obsessed with the fact that it's played as if Helen looks too young to be Ashley's mother, as if Amanda isn't 19 years older than Emilie.

*"What she lacks in refinement, I assure you she makes up for in her field skills." Lines that get painful when you realize how soon Ashley will die.

*Wish there could have been more with Ashley trying to fool Will with stories and Will just shaking his head and laughing.

At some point I need to go update my list of in progress fic requests, as I've started on the next one after taking a bit of a break from them.

I got a request for hartmon + using my ao3 card deck to generate the prompt, so I did a lot of card shuffling and ended up drawing two cards instead of just one. So now it's a Fantasy + Arranged Marriage fic. In which both Cisco and Hartley are running away from the same arranged marriage. ^_^

The first time Cisco went, an older woman ran the counter. She'd mentioned looking for someone younger she could start training to take over the business as she was getting too old and her own children had found their destinies elsewhere. Cisco suspected she'd been hoping he might know someone but, as he was new to Central City, there was no one he could recommend. But a young man, perhaps a year or so older than Cisco, was at the counter the next time Cisco went. And every time after that. Though Mildred was often there too, Hart Ratling was the handsome face Cisco saw the most of going forward.

The story opens with first Cisco and then Hartley running away - before they have a chance to actually meet - so they're getting to know each other with a fresh slate here.

I have other ideas for arranged marriage AUs for these two now, so... at the very least I will be writing down the gist of the ideas to allow some future me to write them.

I've also got another piece lined up for Flufftober. As my on again/off again Yu-Gi-Oh rewatch has continued, Duke has arrived. And I was reminded he had a... not so great first encounter with the group. While the show focused largely on Duke's bad treatment of Joey and his unwarranted grudge against Yugi (and I do like that he joins their group later, finally giving them a second defeat-means-friendship success after they succeeded with Mokuba and failed with Seto) and it's understandable since Joey was being forced to wear a dog suit and bark. But he also threatens to make Tea his unwilling cheerleader, so Duke was revealing all sorts of things about his kinks that day. (Look, Duke absolutely got to college, looked around at all the hot men and women on campus, and promptly discovered bisexuality.)

But while nothing actually happens to Tea, it's definitely a skeevy thing for her to deal with. Especially when not to long after there's the Johnny Steps encounter. Tea just accepts that this is how some guys treat her, no doubt because of her job at the diner, so I wanted to give her a chance to vent to someone who'd understand. Like Mai.

At sixteen, this probably wasn't even Tea's first encounter with entitled men thinking she owed them her attention because they thought she was pretty.  Duke probably wasn't even the creepiest, considering he was her age.  Older men were always so much more uncomfortable than the younger ones.

But her guy friends, while sympathetic... probably wouldn't understand why Duke's threats of forced cheerleader-ship would be so unnerving to a girl.  Boys, even the most well meaning of allies, rarely understood at the age of sixteen just how pervasive the threat of male entitlement really was in this world.

While Duke goes on to become a good friend to the group, Tea was probably warier of him than the others and for longer. I know I would have been in her shoes. But the fic itself is Tea and Mai getting some girl time just hanging out.

After using chemical stimulants for a while, you will need more and more and that can be damaging to your overall physical and mental health. Buy your school books a couple weeks before the term begins. Spend an hour familiarizing yourself with each of your books. If you have access to your course syllabus, check it out and see where in the book your class will be starting. This way you can get a bit of a head start. You should be respectful of your roommate's wishes. You need to learn how to work with him or her so that it makes your time easier. Sit down when you first get to school and find out what you both expect out of a roommate so you can both be happy. If you are struggling in your classes, ask the professor if there are any tutoring options available. By enlisting the help of a tutor you will normally be able to score better on tests, learn the information better and get a more rounded understanding of the curriculum. If a tutor is not available, ask around on campus. There are many study groups available that are student led. Every time you purchase something with cash, put your spare change into a jar and try not to touch it. Once management college in Kathmandu has filled up, count out the money and use it toward something you need, like books or living expenses. While it may be easier to use a coin-counting machine, try and refrain. You will wind up giving them too much of your hard-earned cash. As a college student, you will have access to many different jobs on campus. If you do not already have a good job, you should look for a job on campus. You should choose a job that will allow you to acquire some new skills and meet some interesting people. In your first year of college, one of the things that you will want to avoid is a relationship. A relationship can be very difficult when your main goal is to get acquainted with an area and to meet new people. Save this for the later years that you are in college. Instead of taking the easiest courses, choose classes that you will truly enjoy, even if they challenge you. You can be greatly rewarded by stretching yourself. You will learn more from difficult classes, and you may even make contacts that can help you in your career after you graduate. Do not crack under the stress of selecting or declaring a major right away. Some professors might try and draw you into their department early on, as the more students they have the more job security they have. Never rush major decisions, and do what is right for you, not anyone else. Take extra writing utensils with you to your tests. There is always a strong possibility that your pencil could break or that your pen could run out of ink while you're doing your test. Having a backup writing utensil can help you continue your test without being distracted by having to sharpen a pencil or refill a pen. In the future, you are sure to be happy with the decisions you are now making, and the positive impact they had on your prospects and overall contentment. Remember that the bigger picture is finishing school, and you don't want to stop until you've graduated!
