I dicided to make a fic recs list just bc i want a place to register every fanfic that i’ve read. i would do in my phone notes but i like the aesthetic of put photos and links etc in here. so lets start !!
July Recs :
🪴 Fading by tothemoonmydear
Louis knows about beauty; the combination of qualities that pleases the aesthetic senses. He creates that combination every day in the garments he designs while studying fashion at uni. The cut of the design, the color of the fabric, the intricacy of the stitching; it all comes together to create something beautiful. When the science student with the long legs and dimpled smile agrees to model for him, Louis decides he’s found beauty personified. Harry just thinks Louis needs someone to show him how beautiful he is (+200K.)
🪴 it’s enough (to make a girl blush) by bluestgrey
Harry wears a sundress until he doesn't. (+10K)
🪴 give me forever for a while by mercutionotromeo
or, light sweet kittenplay because Harry owns multiple collars and he has to use them for something, right? (+5K)
🪴 sunbeams by ohsailor
Harry is the new neighbour suffering from insomnia. Louis is the night nurse across the hall trying to find ways to help him sleep. They find one that works. (+2K.)
🪴 good, good graces by safetyfilm
Or, the one where Harry's boyfriend Louis gets a new puppy and frequently tells the dog how he's a good boy. Harry gets jealous and decides to show Louis how much of a good boy he can be. (+10K)
🪴 drain the whole sea by brainwaves
For a great chunk of his life, Harry has had a passion for writing, a passion that turned into an aspiration, which turned into a dream he’s been chasing for the past few years, first in the States and now in a shitty flat in London. None of his attempts to get anywhere have succeeded, leaving him with weary bones and two dead-end jobs that he doesn’t enjoy in the slightest. When he finds an unusual yet promising opportunity that could possibly get him somewhere and help him further his current failure of a writing career, he doesn’t hesitate to take it. Despite his boyfriend Sam’s pleading, he lets this dream bring him to the luxurious yet quaint home of world-renowned, best-selling author Louis Tomlinson. (+27K)
🪴 Satisfaction's Never Been This Sweet by nothing_but
Or the one where Harry is very insecure about his penis size. (+5K.)
🪴 harry just wants some attention, sue him by mindingmybusiness
harry wants to get fucked before he goes on stage and what harry gets what harry wants i guess. (+2K.)
🪴 Are You Lonesome tonight? by loveislanduk
Harry liked his rules, loved them, even. They gave his relationship structure and safety and communication. Normally the rules are pretty easy to follow, they were mostly there to make sure consent was strong in their relationship and that safe sex was being had.
And due to this level of communication and structure, he knew exactly what the consequences would be to masturbating while Louis was at work.
And he did it anyway. (+2K.)
🪴 Blow Me, Daddy by fournipplesau
Don't," Louis growls, pressing his foot against Harry's dripping cock briefly. Harry closes his eyes, holding his breath. "I want you to say it," Louis says, yanking the leash, "want you to say you're daddy's little slut." Harry's eyes go wide and they meet Louis', and then he can't stop it; his toes curl and the fire in his stomach explodes as he comes with a whimper, cock pulsing with each rope of cum that dirties their plush, white carpet as Louis chokes him with his cock. (+8K.)
🪴 The Florentine Letters by forreveries
Oxford University,
June, 1935.
The edge of summer has just begun to dawn over the university campus, exams are almost over and the dust is just beginning to settle over the desks. Harry Styles, in the last years of his PHD study of The Renaissance, has managed to maintain a safe existence within the walls of his books and classes and late night romances. He's made a place that's safe from the expectations of high brow society and the cold stare of his father. That is, until an all too sharp, all too witty, and all too handsome man walks into his life. Louis, the cocky man with the smile, brings with him a strange object - declaring that it's a puzzle piece from the one and only Leonardo Da Vinci. He speaks of age old mysteries, and puzzles that cannot be solved without Harry's help. Immediately, Harry is quite literally swept off his feet, and together they take their chances on the find of a life time - Da Vinci's lost works. But what Louis doesn't mention is the high stakes game of cat and mouse that comes with chasing things that do not belong to you. A game where nothing, and no one, is as they seem. (+118K.)
🪴 Good boy by 28sunflowers
Harry is startled out of his thoughts by the needle going over one of his ribs. Thankfully, he catches himself and manages to stay still, but accidentally lets out a whimper at the unexpected stronger burn. He exhales slowly when Louis takes the gun off his skin, trying to remain calm.
“Good boy,” Louis tells him automatically, giving him a pat to the hip. (+2K)
🪴Reduce Me To A Pleading Cry (Break The Skin and Tantalize) by taggiecb
[…] Or Harry is a broody submissive boss, Louis is a natural dom who works in the mail room at Styles & Styles, Niall is a matchmaking oracle, and a slender, dark haired man stands mute at the coffee stand encouraging others to spill their secrets. (+37K)
🪴 Little Black Dress (I wanna see the way you move for me, Baby) by HachimansKitsune
Harry's has an obsession he feels guilty about. When an impulsive moment leads him to make the purchase, he expects to never actually follow through with his desires. Then Louis finds the dress -- the slinky, silky black dress -- and Daddy takes the decision out of Harry's hands.(+19K.)
🪴 Just Like a Woman by superglass
[…] or Louis is a writer living in Paris for the year. Harry is the charming art student and au pair of the family across the courtyard. Paris 1970s au. (+16K)
🪴 know me to be by everysingleday
In which none of this was ever Louis' business, and yet here he is. (+8k)
🪴 Peaches and Cream by seducedbycurls
The study was to see if two strangers could live together for a month and fall in love. “We are a new organization working to prove that love can do extraordinary things.”
“You will do everything together & you are not allowed to leave the resort for the whole month.”
“We want to prove that opposites attract.”
Louis is allergic to peaches, Harry smells like peaches. Louis just came for the money. (+64K)
🪴 Sweet like sugar by 28sunflowers
Harry sometimes has bad days. Diabetes is not the easiest thing to live with. (+1K.)
🪴 Tuesday night by 28moon
“Cuddle me” Louis mumbles to his neck. “You smell like her '' Harry mumbles and pushes Louis rudely off. Louis furrows his brows pouting and tries to cuddle Harry again “Go shower” Harry commands, pushing Louis away again. “I'm too tired, can you just cuddle me and put that damn book down.” Louis sighs, getting a bit annoyed. “Nope, not when you smell like her” Harry answers. (+2K.)
🪴 You've Got the Antidote by sunflowerskyline
Harry has a painful migraine. Louis helps him feel better with soft words, delicate touches, and a bit of soothing skincare.
Featuring copious amounts of fluff, pet names, and general sappiness. (+2K.)

Burnt ~ MYG [Request]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WORD COUNT: 2.8K
PAIRING: Yoongi x Reader
GENRE: established-relationship, fluffy ending, running into ex, mentions of burning by accident,
A/N: Again I used a wheel of names to select the member so that it was fair, we got Yoongi this time so I hope you enjoy it!!
Tumblr media
It wasn't often that you and Yoongi got to enjoy some one on one time together so going out for the morning dog walks you did every day was something that you cherished. An hour-long walk just the three of you as you spoke about anything and everything that came to mind, catching up and spending time with the one guy you loved and your dog. The two of you had made it a tradition that you would go together deciding that since Yoongi was always so busy with something in his life this was his designated time for you and only you. Of course, you spent other times together but this was always a for-sure fire plan, there was no way out of it, it was always going to happen unless it was pouring it down with rain. This morning it was bright and early, the grass that you walked Min Holly on was crisp, the air was fresh and there was almost no one around besides the other people that were walking their dogs. Yoongi and you walked hand in hand as you took Holly over a field that wasn't fair from your home,
"I was thinking of cooking dinner for you and the boys, Friday night?" You suggested as you threw a ball for Holly she began sprinting after it wildly while you stood with Yoongi under a tree,
"Sure. We should try and make that cake they loved the last time they were over," He suggested as he gently took your hand in his, stroking his thumb over your knuckles and smiling happily as he looked at you. He never would have thought he could be this happy again but you brought out the best in him, he hadn't been this happy since his last relationship which had ended on pretty good terms.
"Jimin loved it, even if it was falling apart," You laughed softly, bending down to pick up the ball that Holly had dropped by your feet, you handed over the wet tennis ball to Yoongi who threw it for his dog once again, going further than before.
"Jimin loves everything you make for him, he swears by your cooking," Yoongi chuckled, standing behind you and wrapping his arms around your body enjoying the feeling of standing this close to you. Laying his head down on your shoulder he hummed in satisfaction of the silence that surrounded you. All that could be heard was the occasional car passing on a nearby road and the birds that were waking up in all of the trees, it was more relaxing than ever.
"I wonder what's taking Holly so long to get that ball," He mumbled a few moments later when he realised Holly hadn't come bounding back over to you as he usually would, ball in his mouth.
"Holly?" You called out, patting your legs as you both began wandering over in the direction he was last seen running in, calling out his name as the both of you waited for some kind of sign that Holly was around there somewhere.
"Holly?" Yoongi cried out as you walked down the back of some trees that were heading towards a forest-like area, there was Holly rolled over on her back and getting belly rubs from another person who was dressed in a hoodie and some jeans.
"Such a good boy, aren't you?" You heard a female voice coo as you approach her and your dog with Yoongi, worrying slightly if she was some kind of fan that had decided to stalk out where Yoongi walked Holly.
"Hey, I'm sorry. He's just overly friendly sometimes, I'm sure he didn't mean to-" Yoongi stopped speaking mid-sentence when he looked up to see his ex-girlfriend sitting there with his dog, all of a sudden it was like he was only there with her and her alone. The rest of the world ceased to exist as they locked eyes for the first time in over six years, you stared at Yoongi wondering why he had suddenly stopped speaking and you glanced over at the female who was staring at him. Aera. You recognised her from the photos you'd found in Yoongi's home studio, she was his ex-girlfriend and the love of his life. Her name literally meant love. The sight of them looking at one another the way they did made your heart sink, he was looking at her as if she was the only woman in the world while she stared at him like it was the last time she ever would.
"Aera this is Y/n, Y/n this is Aera..." Yoongi finally said as he tore his eyes away from her, turning to look at you briefly before his eyes were glued to her once again. You didn't blame him she had been the love of his life for years until up and leaving six years ago to move to a different country, both of them deciding to end the relationship so neither of them had to go through with a terrible long-distance relationship.
"It's lovely to meet you, I've heard a lot." You told her as you shook her hand, doing your best to seem as polite as possible, just because they had been together all those years ago didn't mean that they would be together again now, right?
"It's been too long, what are you doing back?" He questioned her as you began to leash Holly back up to his walking gear, stroking the dog that was with Aera as you went down onto the floor.
"I moved back, I was done with my studying and decided I missed home," She smiled softly at him and then all of a sudden it was as if you were no longer there again, the two of them began conversing back and forth about everything she had been doing over the last few years, catching up as you began a slow walk back home being ignored by your fiancé but you let it slide. He hadn't seen her in years and they had been best friends before they dated, you had nothing to worry about since you trusted him with your life.
Tumblr media
"That was nice seeing her for a while," You told Yoongi as you began making breakfast for Holly, hoping to get your fiancé back into conversation with you but his head had been in his phone since getting back home probably letting the boys know who he had seen that morning.
"Yoongi?" You questioned when he still didn't respond to you, sighing to yourself you kissed the top of his head before leaving to go and get a shower he was probably just stressed with work stuff.
Tumblr media
When you woke up the next morning you expected to roll over and find Yoongi as you usually would but you were created by cold and empty sheets, he was missing with no note left behind to say he had gone into work earlier than expected.
"Yoongles?" You called out down the stairs as you walked down them, wrapping a dressing gown around your body in case he or the boys were around the house somewhere, it wasn't uncommon for the boys to just let themselves in when they saw fit. As you reached the porch you saw that Yoongi's coat was missing along with Holly's walking gear and Yoongi's walking boots, he'd gone without you? Glancing over at the clock there was no reason for him to have gone without you, the two of you would normally wake up now and walk Holly together. There was a sinking feeling in your gut as you thought about how he and Aera had been texting back and forth all day yesterday, had he gone out with her without telling you? It wouldn't have bothered you if he had just mentioned it to you or even left some kind of note as to where he was.
Hey, I'll make some breakfast for when you're back if you like? xx Hitting send you waited anxiously for the message to be read but it was left as delivered while you went to shower and do your morning routine before he came home.
Tumblr media
"I made your favourite!" You called out as you saw Yoongi running around the house in a rush, Holly was eating his breakfast in the kitchen while Yoongi had rushed in the house to shower and change for work. It had been a two-hour long walk with Aera which didn't help ease the uneasy feeling you had but you kept your faith in Yoongi, he loved you and you loved him that was all you needed to put your attention on.
"I don't have time to eat, I'll grab something at work." He yelled out as he ran out of the house, into his car before you could even ask if he had enjoyed his walk out there that morning, you stared down at Holly sighing to yourself.
"Guess it's me and you then," You said to him as you poured him some more water into his bowl.
Tumblr media
It continued on like that all week, Yoongi would go for the morning walks with Aera instead of with you, spending more and more time with her to the point where you felt you hardly saw him unless it was for an hour at night before going to bed but you were reminding yourself that tonight was your night with him and the boys. Friday night dinners together were traditional with him and the boys and everything was perfect, you'd spent all of that day preparing the food, baking desserts and perfecting everything that the boys would be eating that night but no one showed up. As each hour passed and they weren't there you began to grow sick with worry thinking that something had happened to them, calls and texts to each of them were going unanswered but there had been no reports in the media about what possibly could have happened.
"Here Holly," You called out, pouring some of the food that he was able to eat into his food bowl before cleaning up the dining room, blowing out candles and putting the desserts into the fridge for a later time. It wasn't uncommon that the boys would work so late they lost track of time so you figured that was all that had happened.
That was until Yoongi walked through the door looking as though he was about to burst, he had chocolate down his chin and behind him was Aera as she struggled to stand him up straight,
"What happened?!" You panicked, rushing over to them as you helped her stand him up, struggling to carry him up the stairs to your shared bedroom.
"He had a little too much to drink with the boys at my place," Your heart practically stopped beating as you heard where he had been and who he had been with.
"Your place?" Your voice was strong and it didn't stutter as much as you thought it was going to, she nodded at you not seeing an issue with it.
"He's been with you all night?" She nodded again,
"The guys and I have a tradition, meals every Friday and we used to switch who's place we went to...I figured since I was back I could invite them to mine...I asked Yoongi to bring you but he said you were busy." You nodded along with her as she began tucking Yoongi into bed but you stared at him, the subject hadn't even been bought up around you, Yoongi had neglected to mention he was going to cancel your dinner and go to hers instead. In fact, he'd neglected to mention anything as of late as he pushed you away and hung out with Aera more than you.
"I'll let you get some sleep, it was nice meeting you again," She hugged you before leaving, you heard her lock the door before posting your keys back through the letterbox but your eyes never left Yoongi in his sleeping form. He was sneaking around to hang out with her but why? You trusted him and he knew that he could have just told you where he was going and there would never have been a problem but now it felt as if there was something going on. Something he was hiding.
Tumblr media
Time went on and you began to slowly distance yourself more and more from Yoongi, you'd tried getting him to talk to you more but he was working or catching up with Aera, you had no idea how much catching up needed to happen but it was bothering you. It was as if you were no longer a part of his life, just a ghost living in his house as he continued on as everything was normal.
"Stupid fireplace," You hissed as you tried to get the fireplace in your living room to turn on, it was one of those exceptionally cold nights where you couldn't get warm so sitting by the fire with hot chocolate and a book was something you were going to do. Normally Yoongi would be the one to sort the fireplace out but he was nowhere to be seen so you were left to fend for yourself.
Letting out a smile in relief as the flames finally caught you began to get comfortable on the floor, settling down to read when you heard a crackling noise that didn't sound great but you pushed it aside thinking it was just the fireplace in its old age.
Tumblr media
Guilt swelled up inside of Yoongi as he sat beside you in the hospital bed, he'd gotten a call to say you'd been rushed into emergency services when he was with Aera and he rushed to you. Sitting beside your bed the whole night before and even now, a day later, he was sitting with you.
"What happened?" Jimin questioned as he walked into the room to see Yoongi watching you, Jimin placed a vase of flowers down onto the nightstand at the bottom of the hospital bed.
"I was with Aera, she must have tried to light the fireplace," Yoongi explained as he looked at the burns that were on your left leg, it was nothing major but it was still a burn that he could have prevented if he hadn't wasted so much time hanging out with Aera so much. "She's been trying to get me to be with her for weeks and I kept pushing her away," His voice cracked as he began to cry, thinking of all the times he should have been with you. None of this would have happened if he had just been there.
"I'm sure she'll understand that you wanted some time with Aera," Jimin explained but Yoongi shook his head,
"There's no excuse for me to leave Y/n. I love her and I just pushed her aside because of what?!" You woke up to him yelling and you whined, turning to look at him you already knew what they were bickering about.
"She was the love of your life...I didn't want to get in the way," You breathed out as you tried to sit up, hissing in pain as you stopped.
"You can't move yet, the nurse will need to come and check you over." He whispered as he kissed your lips softly, calling the nurse button and watching Jimin leave the room.
"I will never, ever leave you again...I was so stupid," He mumbled to himself, beating himself up over something that couldn't have been helped,
"Yoongi you missed her, I understand if you don't want to be with me anymore..." His eyes shot to you as he shook his head dramatically,
"Of course I want to be with you, only you!" He cried out, taking your hand in his and smiling, kissing your hands softly.
"Then say those three words," You giggled softly looking into his eyes as he looked back at you,
"I love you." You smiled even more, leaning forward to kiss him softly, laying back down when the nurse came into the room.

Spending the next two weeks sequestered in your apartment wasn’t terrible, but it just cemented your assumption that you couldn’t even pretend to be normal anymore. At least when you were at the Tower, you felt like another face in the crowd compared to the Avengers.
Accommodating your work from home setup wasn’t easy, but you all made it work. Peter worked with you when he was back for a weekend. He even helped you go through more of your fan mail, if you could even call it that. There were some parcels that were genuine fan mail, people wishing you well and young girls saying you inspired them to pursue STEM careers; there were some death threats that you had to send to local law enforcement to investigate; there were mostly creepy letters from men you could only assume were older than your father. One man wrote that he wanted to find out if you smelled as beautiful as you looked. Cringe. Another wrote about how he wanted to suck on your toes until they were wrinkly. Gag. The worst was a man who said he wanted to be sandwiched between you and your dad. Barf.
Steve and Sam used the scanner your dad made to check all your mail before it was even brought upstairs. None had been poisoned or set to explode, but some contained explicit items that you were more than happy to not see.
It was still slightly traumatizing when Steve waltzed in with a package in his arms and said, “Hey [Y/N], I didn’t toss this one because it doesn’t look like it’s from a person. Did you order something from… Romantix?”
You paused mid-chew as you, Bucky, and Sam all sat in your living room enjoying a nice Saturday lunch. Bucky wasn’t fazed, continuing to eat his food; Sam, however, busted out laughing.
“What’s in it, Steve?” Sam asked loudly, clearly trying to rile you up.
“Uh, all the scanner showed was a couple small golf balls -- I think -- and what looked like a top? And a remote.”
Sam kept giggling to himself, Bucky and Steve both looked confused as hell. You moved to grab the box from Steve but Sam beat you to it, tutting at you as you reached for it again.
“Uh-uh. We should open it to make sure everything is safe,” Sam teased.
“Everything in there is safe, I promise,” you swore. When you tried to steal the package back, Sam yoinked it further from your grasp with a devious smile. Your cheeks were burning hot at the thought of the inevitable. Sam was going to open your box, Steve was going to turn red as a tomato, and Bucky was… well, hopefully he was going to take you to your room for the rest of the day.
And before you could try to snatch the box away again, Sam ripped the packing tape off and pulled out the first item: kegel balls.
“What are those?” Steve asked.
“Don’t worry about it!” you shouted, grabbing the vacuum-packed, heavy silver balls from a still giggling Sam. He reached back into the box and you realized you may just have to suck it up and let him have his show-and-tell.
“Here’s that ‘top’ you were talking about,” Sam joked. And in his hands sat… the butt plug.
“Sam, stop! Literally no one here needs to see this except me and Bucky,” you whined.
“In that case, I’m curious. What else is in there?” Bucky asked, leaning forward to peek inside.
“Bucky! You’re supposed to be on my side!”
Sam shrugged and handed the box to Bucky so he could rummage through it instead. You couldn’t really complain as much now that your boyfriend was doing the snooping instead.
“What the -- oh,” Bucky said as he lifted the next item: a remote… tied to a pair of thin black panties.
“Why would those come together?” Steve asked. You weren’t sure if he was serious or not because he may have been born in the early 1900s, but he would’ve had to have checked out modern porn and kinks by now, right?
“Do you want to tell him or should I?” Sam asked with raised eyebrows. His lips were quirked in an annoying smirk. Bucky sat with a similar expression; at least you knew he had brushed up on modern sex.
“They’re vibrating panties,” you deadpanned. Steve fortunately didn’t look too surprised, he just raised his eyebrows and nodded.
“What’s next, Buck?” Sam prompted him to continue unpacking.
“Oh -- oh -- oh yeah. We can have some fun with this,” Bucky laughed as he lifted up the collar and ball gag.
“Damn, [Y/N]. You’re a freaky freak,” Sam laughed. Bucky didn’t even deny this; he just laughed with his friend before continuing with the last items.
“And…” Bucky started to explain. He quickly cut himself off when he saw what was in his hands -- and covering the bottom of the package. Dozens of pieces of lingerie, from skimpy little lace pieces to a loose-fitting satin teddy to a sheer black robe. “Oh, that’s for my eyes only,” he finally said.
Sam and Steve grumbled in response but didn’t push it. They probably realized getting a full reveal of the shit you and Bucky wanted to mess around with was more than they would’ve gotten if you had your way.
And just as you hoped, Bucky took you to your bedroom for a few hours. You found out you didn’t love the plug and the ball gag made you drool, but the collar had a little leash Bucky was able to pull on while hitting it from the back... you liked that one.
From that day on, you made sure to tell the boys when you’d have a package coming in. Bucky definitely perked up at the mention of more mail like that coming his way.
Two weeks after the Romantix debacle, Peter was back in town and stoked to help you go through mail again. He didn’t like all the creepy letters, but he was really good at making you laugh at them instead of constantly cringing and gagging. Bucky and Steve even sat to help, but Sam said if he was going to keep cooking for everyone, he didn’t have to sort through mail. And none of you wanted to pass up on his classic New Orleans recipes.
You all sat around your dining room table with your small dining TV playing old episodes of “Criminal Minds” as background noise. The amount of mail you received definitely dropped with time, but you’d still have a hefty pile at the end of the week. The creepy letters were shredded but you liked responding to the nicer letters, so there was a “shred” pile and a “respond” pile on either side of the “open next” pile.
You were all working in near-silence aside from the quiet dialogue on the TV and the occasional clink of pans from Sam in the kitchen. With four of you working, you’d be able to read through everything in about half an hour. As you neared the bottom of the pile, you grabbed a large manilla envelope and felt the weight of whatever was inside. It couldn’t have been dangerous because the boys scanned everything, but you carefully tugged it open nonetheless. You held it upside down and gently shook out the contents: a letter, a smaller envelope, and a DVD. A few people sent mix CDs or fan videos on DVDs and flash drives, so you were initially excited about this one… until you started reading the letter. The choppy typewriter print quickly turned muddled as your blood froze in your veins.
My darling [Y/N],
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? No, I don’t think I shall. I’ll cut to the chase instead: I’m the reason the world knows who you are. Guess I’m a little loose-lipped. Oops! But I needed you to know I’m serious somehow. Or else you wouldn’t see this as a true threat.
I know your little secret. I’ve seen more than I originally planned, but you gave me plenty to work with in my free time. You look beautiful while you sleep; you look even more beautiful in the throes of passion. But I’m not looking to have your body.
Unless you get $2,000,000 to your little doorman Matthew to bring to me by the end of the week, the enclosed pictures will make their way to the desk of daddy dearest. And we both know he won’t appreciate seeing who is penetrating his daughter.
And if that $2,000,000 doesn’t find me by the end of next week, the video on the DVD will be released to the world.
I look forward to our next interaction.
Your hands shook as you tore open the envelope to see what pictures this person allegedly had of you. At first, they were just creepy candids of you walking down the street, nothing the paps wouldn’t have. Then they turned into photos of Bucky escorting you through crowds… and then photos of you in your apartment.
You were sleeping in your bed in one. Then standing in your kitchen making breakfast in one of Bucky’s shirts. And then a shirtless Bucky was cradling your face and kissing your forehead.
The next picture was of Bucky standing behind you in the kitchen. His pajama bottoms — the pair you got him for his birthday — were pooled at his feet. One hand was pressing you to the counter, the other was hoisting your leg up to the granite as he drove into you.
“Oh my god,” you whispered, unable to speak. As you frantically flipped through the rest of the photos, your eyes flooded with tears and your breathing grew more erratic, grabbing Bucky’s attention, then Peter’s, then Steve’s.
But their concern meant nothing to you as you processed the images before you.
You on your knees with Bucky’s dick clearly between your lips. Bucky on his knees with his face pressed between your thighs. Your legs wrapped around Bucky’s torso as he moved you on his cock. Bucky’s hand wrapped around your throat as you rode him on the couch.
All the images looked like they were taken through your windows, like someone was somehow standing outside your apartment despite being stories above the ground.
“What’s wrong, doll?” Bucky asked softly. He gently touched your arm, drawing your view from the distressing imagery to his attempted comfort, though it unfortunately did nothing to calm you down. Not this time.
You looked up at him with tear-filled eyes but couldn’t bring yourself to speak. All you could do was shake your head and push the letter to him. You watched his eyes quickly scan the words before reaching for the photos. He didn’t snatch them away from you or even try to take them. He just held his hand out and let you shakily hand them over.
And then you saw the pacific blue of his eyes turn dark and stormy, his jaw clenching as he flipped through the pictures of you — you and him. His breathing grew more and more ragged the more he saw, until he threw the photos to the table with a loud, “Fuck!”
Seconds later, Sam dashed into the room as Steve sifted through the photos. Even Steve grew irritated at the sight. Peter and Sam quickly followed suit, only glimpsing a few pictures before getting the gist of the rest.
The room was silent aside from your quiet sobs. You and Bucky both stared at the disc lying between you until your eyes met. His usually pale blue irises were nearly black.
“I’m scared,” you whimpered. Despite being scared himself — and angry and frustrated and confused — he reached out to pull you into his lap and hold you. Keeping you close always made him feel better, even when it felt like the world was crashing around him.
“Close the curtains,” he demanded gruffly. Steve and Peter immediately jumped up and started pulling all your curtains shut, throwing your usually bright apartment into near darkness.
Bucky held your face between his palms, forcing you to look in his eyes.
“I know you’re scared, but we need to see what’s on that DVD.”
“I can already guess what it is,” you said through your tears.
“Yeah, me too,” Bucky agreed. “But we have to make sure.”
You simply nodded. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to your forehead, helping your breathing slow at the reassuring gesture. He led you into the living room with the DVD in hand. Steve and Sam stood in the living room, Peter sat on the couch. They all looked concerned for you, but tried not to show pity. You could tell they were all upset about this too.
“You can leave the room if you don’t want to see what I’m sure we all know is on this,” Bucky said. His voice was deep and gravelly, almost like his morning voice, but… mean.
You and Bucky sat together on the sofa across from Peter, all eyes trained on the TV as the screen faded from black to a slightly fuzzy shot of your bed. Seconds later, you and Bucky came on screen. And there was audio.
You giggled as Bucky’s body pushed yours to the mattress. “What are you gonna do to me?” your voice sounded.
“I’m gonna put a baby in you,” Bucky’s voice growled. “I’m gonna cum inside this tight pussy until you can’t take it anymore.”
“Jesus,” Sam grumbled. You would’ve laughed if the situation wasn’t so serious.
Bucky only let it play until clothes started coming off. That’s when he knew they actually had a sex tape of you two, especially considering the nearly two-hour time frame on it. Sending explicit pictures of you and Bucky to your dad was one thing, but releasing a non-consensual sex tape of you two was something else entirely.
“What are we gonna do?” Peter asked quietly. Your tears had finally stopped, but the concern in his voice almost sent you over the edge again. He was such a sweet kid and he didn’t deserve to deal with the stress of this with you. But you also knew he was your best friend — practically a brother — and he wasn’t going to let you fend for yourself through this, even with Bucky by your side.
“We have to give them the money,” Sam replied. “We can find out who the door guy gives it to and arrest them or track the bills, but we have to get the money.”
“I don’t have the money,” you confessed. Everyone except Bucky seemed surprised. “I make $200,000 before taxes. Before I got this new role, I made half that. Even if we don’t deduct taxes and the expenses I do pay for, I wouldn’t have even close to two million.”
Everyone went silent again until Steve finally spoke up.
“We need to talk to the doorman.”
Bucky stormed out of the elevator, rushing ahead of everyone with murder in his eyes. He gripped the front of Matt’s suit and shoved him against the wall, shaking the letter in his face.
“What the fuck is this?” Bucky was seething.
“What?” Matt squeaked. His eyes were wide as saucers. He was clearly not expecting this confrontation. Bucky just shook the letter again to draw the doorman’s attention.
“Wait. You got one too?” Matt asked. Bucky’s grip loosened as he stared at the shorter man in confusion. You instinctively looked at Peter, who looked just as baffled as you. “I-I got a letter like that. In my locker. This morning.”
“Show us,” you demanded. Bucky released him but Matt’s eyes saw the posse of Avengers behind you (save for Peter, who he probably assumed was either a friend or boyfriend — secret identity and all that) and he rushed all of you to the locker room.
It was a small room since there were only a dozen doormen in your building, if that. He opened his locker and revealed a letter that was nearly identical to yours, but with no mentions of his looks and a much different threat.
“They’re threatening arson?!” you nearly shouted. Bucky and Steve read the letter before handing it to Sam and Peter to check out as well.
“They included pictures of my mom and sister,” Matt explained, clearly scared of what might happen to him and his loved ones. “They know where I live and they know who I live with. I-I would’ve taken this to th-the police but I didn’t want to risk it.”
“They have the later date listed for him,” Sam said. “You had one week to get the money or they’d tell Tony, two weeks or they release the tape. Now we have two weeks to save his family.”
Everyone in the room fell silent once again. Eyes fell on you as Peter quietly repeated his earlier question: “What are we gonna do?”
Despite all eyes on you, you turned to Bucky, who continued to study the letter. His jaw flexed as he thought and if this had been any other time, you would’ve kissed the tension away.
“We’re gonna tell Tony.”

Note from the editor:
This is the first letter of this nature that I’ve received from someone who wanted their question published. Other than editing for formatting and grammar, it’s in their own words and their own words alone. Please send an email or ask if you know how to solve their problem-- and quickly.
I have to warn you, this letter isn’t for those who are put on edge easily. Reader discretion is advised.
I don’t know if I’ll still be around by the time this is posted, but that doesn’t matter. So long as this reaches whoever might need it.
I first saw it last October. The 27th, I think. Kind of cliché for this sort of thing to be happening right around Halloween, but truth is stranger than fiction. It was late in the evening, almost nighttime, when I saw this stray dog roaming around in my front yard. I grabbed my dog’s leash and went to get it, thinking I could keep it in my backyard until I could find the owners, but the second I left the front step, it started off towards the bike trail. I sped up to a jog and followed it, hoping not to scare it off any further.
The bike trail veers away from the neighborhood and through this piece of undeveloped land that separates the suburbs from a nearby farm. The dog was mostly sticking to the path, moving along at a trot, stopping every once in a while to look over its shoulder and wag its tail, like it was waiting for me to catch up before starting off again. After a few minutes of this, I called for it-- tried to whistle, asked it to heel, etc. It came over when I pretended to have a treat in my hand, holding my fist out like there was something inside. When it leaned over to sniff, I clipped a leash on its collar, a simple fabric band without any tags or ID. I’d never seen the dog before, so I got out my phone and took a picture of it to post to the neighborhood Facebook page, asking if anyone knew its owner, before walking it back to my place and letting it out in the fenced back yard. After feeding my own dog, I sat down to check Facebook to see if there was any response.
No one recognized the dog from the photo. One comment asked me who was standing in the background.
There hadn’t been anyone else in the woods, as far as I remembered, but I double-checked the photo anyway. In the background, about 20 feet away, it looked like there was a figure-- vague, kind of person-shaped if you squinted-- standing just to the side of the bike path. It was all indistinct and fuzzy. Probably just a smudge on the lens. I responded to the comment before trying to clean off the lens on my shirt, then taking another photo down the hallway to see if the smudge was gone. There didn’t seem to be anything. The rest of the night was relatively normal.
The next morning, I ended up trying to clear out my camera roll, to save some room for any pictures I might take of my baby cousins in their costumes. I deleted a bunch of screenshots, old photos, and the image of the dog, before going to delete the hallway picture.
The smudge was still there. Like before, it was around 20 or so feet from where I’d been standing when I took the photo, around the size and height of a person. Unlike before, it was peering around the corner from the door to the bathroom.
I was freaked out some, to be honest.  I scrubbed the lens down with a Lysol wipe and took another photo down the hallway, trying to prove to myself it was just some sort of shadow. Nothing that would show up in the daylight. And it didn’t-- nothing strange, no smudge, just a block of sunlight from the windows. I didn’t delete the picture from the night before, though. Just in case.
It was a few more weeks before I took another nighttime photo. My cousins are too young to stay up late, so they’d been out trick-or-treating around 5:00 in the evening, back before it was even dark, so I didn’t really take anything on Halloween. The dog was returned to its owner a few days after, so nothing there, either.
It was around the middle of November when I ended up catching it again. I was on a nighttime walk and passed the home of this older couple down the road who always put up their outdoor Christmas decorations about a month too early. I wanted to get a picture of the setup-- they had this new animatronic Santa, sitting on a throne and waving to the road. I can promise that no one else was in the yard. I used the flash (on accident, but still), and if someone was there, I would have seen them. When I got home, I sent the picture to a friend of mine for her to make fun of. She messaged back with a few laughing emojis before asking who took the photo.
Tumblr media
(ID: Two texts from my friend reading “lol” and “really who took it”. My response says “wdym?”. She responded with two texts saying “I see you in the background, genius” and “just vibing by the garage”. End ID.)
I checked the photo again. By the house’s garage, a little under 20 feet from where I’d been, was a clearer, more distinct figure. For once, I could make out its face.
I don’t know who or what it is, or how it got there, but it definitely looked like me. It was even wearing my clothing, had its hair done the same way, everything. Just standing there and smiling for the photo, like someone just out of frame was telling it to say cheese, looking right into the camera.
I immediately turned all the lights on that I could reach. I almost deleted the photo, staring at it for too long, before closing out of Photos and reopening my camera. I figured this had to be some weird hallucination or something I was making up, but that didn’t make it any less terrifying. I aimed the camera down the hall and took a video. Nothing. I checked it, sliding the scrub bar back and forth to inspect each individual frame. All of them were just empty, illuminated hallway. That didn’t shake the feeling, though, so I turned the hall light off and tried again. Nothing showed up on this video, either. I took a photo.
It was there. Again. It wasn’t peeking out from around anything, just standing in the middle of the hallway, the same distance it had been from the camera in the yard.
I didn’t sleep that night. Or the next few.
I ended up searching the internet as much as I could for anyone with similar experiences. I saw things about ghosts, things about illusions, things about solid doppelgangers that people saw with their own eyes and not through pictures, but nothing like this. Over the weeks and months that followed, I took investigating into my own hands.
My fears were quieted some-- some-- when, after the first few nights, I realized that it wasn’t hurting me. It never even moved, staying in the same poses each night. The only change was, no matter where I was, inside or outside, it was always the same distance away.
I started taking pictures almost obsessively. Every day, every night, I tried something new. I tried every condition I could think of to see when and where this thing would show up. It became a part of my routine-- almost a companion. I’d even jokingly wish it goodnight.
I could put walls between myself and it. At one point, I stood inside my closet and took a picture, only showing racks of coats and clothes. It could be seen through windows, if there was no room for it to appear indoors. I could take pictures out my bedroom window to show it standing right there outside the window on the front walk. It always looked exactly like me, down to the smallest detail, except for the face. It never had any expression other than a smile. No matter where I was, inside or outside, it could be there. I got pictures of it at home, at work, out of town. It never showed up in well-lit photos. Things in the dark with flash were okay, but it would just be a little indistinct. Dimmer lighting, pictures taken at night, all of that was free game. I never got a picture of it in daylight.
Around February, I sat down and tried to sort all the successful photos into one album to clear up my camera roll. At this point, it was mostly just pictures of the thing, since I was sometimes taking up to dozens a night. I deleted all the failures, saving all the pictures of it into one album. That’s when I noticed.
It was getting closer.
I guess I had ignored it over the first months. It had been too gradual for me to notice, only an inch or two each night, but looking at all the photos in order, it was obvious. Instead of being around 20 feet away, the thing was closer to 15, still just standing and smiling.
I had to tell myself it was coincidence, or something I was imagining, or I think I would’ve done something I’d regret later just then. Now that I knew it could move, I didn’t really think of it as a friend anymore.
I kept taking pictures throughout the following months. Only at night. It stopped showing up outside my bedroom window-- in retrospect, probably because the ground wasn’t close enough for it anymore. It stopped lurking at the end of the hallway, drawing nearer until it was standing right there in the living room. It started putting its hands against the glass of the kitchen windows. Then it started showing up at the kitchen table.
I got desperate, some. I tried everything. I burned incense, I tried to talk to it, I bought fucking crystals. I’m an atheist, but I even considered calling a priest or something. All spring, I was constantly scrambling to find some way to get that thing to leave, or at least stop moving. Every night I took more pictures, too many, before scrolling through my photo album with a looming sense of dread. Nothing worked. It kept coming, slowly, always dressed like me and always doing that smile. It got close enough that I could see the whites of its eyes. I almost wish I could say that there was something messed up about it, something that made it obviously inhuman or dead or anything, but there wasn’t. It was just me, just exactly like me, and somehow that was worse.
I’m sending this in now because it’s really close and I don’t know how to make it go away or if that’s even an option anymore. These past few nights, it’s been right in front of me-- I could reach out and touch it, if it was solid. Hell, I could probably feel its breath, if it had that. I’ve been taking pictures every hour or so, sometimes every couple of minutes.
Last night, around the fifth or sixth picture I took, it wasn’t there. Just gone. I took a few more pictures, and it didn’t matter where I was, it just wasn’t there. I don’t know why I did it, but I turned the camera around to selfie mode and took a shot.
That thing was standing right behind me.
One of its hands was hovering right over my shoulder, like it was about to touch me. I freaked out and took another picture. It hadn’t moved more than a hair. I turned all the lights on and haven’t slept.
I’m not sleeping tonight. I’m not turning any of the lights off. It can’t get to me if the lights are on, or I hope so. If anyone knows what to do or what this thing is, please respond. It might already be too late, but I don’t know what this thing will do or who it’ll go for when it’s done with me. I don’t have much advice to give, other than to sleep with the fucking lights on.

Today you lern about Annas and Henrys first encounter.
Against all odds - 2.5
Part 2.1 Part 2.2 Part 2.3 Part 2.4
Henry Cavill x MC
Warnings: No Beta, bad english, bad grammar
Summary: When Anna met Henry (and Kal)...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a chilly but sunny sunday morning only a few days after she had returned to Braxton and Anna decided to go for a walk and take some pictures of the beautiful autumn leaves in the woods near the castle. Morning fog was still swirling above the meadows and clearings but the light was perfect. When she discovered a pretty little fly acaric she squatted down, struggeling to keep her balance but when she managed to support herself on one hand she was able to take some photos. Suddenly a dog pushed through the undergrowth at breakneck speed right beside her. Tumbling over she fell on her bottom landing in a puddle of mud.
"Oh Scheiße" she sweared "verdammt..." Right behind the dog a man followed just as fast, stopping in his tracks when he spotted Anna sitting in the sludge.
"Mate, what have you done?" he scolded the dog leashing it. "Sorry" he said with an apologetic expression on his handsome face holding out a hand to help her up.
"You're alright?"
"Yeah, no harm done. Just a little mud on my butt." she smiled sheepishly.
"I'll take care of the costs for the cleaning of course."
"No worries...everything is fine."
"Normally he doesn't behave so badly, but sometimes when he smells a squirrel he loses it."
"I know exactly what you're talking about. My uncle's Labradors do this all the time when water comes in sight" she laughed.
"Ok, you have just cursed in german and the only Labradors hereabout live in the castle plus you wear a Braxton pin on your jacket. I conclude you are the new estate manager, George's niece from Germany."
"Smart conclusion! Yes, I am. My name's Anna." "Nice to meet you, Anna." His smile was gorgeous. And so were his eyes. Bright blue and friendly with light laughter-lines that gave away that he smiled a lot. She couldn't see his hair that was hidden under a beanie, but a little strand showed that it was dark.
"And you are? Sherlock Holmes?" she smirked.
He laughed out loud. "No. I'm Henry. I live at old Johnson's farm."
"I see. The new neighbour. I remember that uncle George mentioned he sold the farm. Are you from somewhere around here? You  look vaguely familiar."
"No. I moved here from London, but originally I'm from Jersey"
"Oh Jersey. How beautiful!"
"You've been there?"
"Yes, twice. A few years ago. With my ex boyfriend. Well...of course he wasn't my ex back then. He was my boyfriend. But now he's my ex. Um...yes..."
God...stop gibbering, she thought. Typically me... facing an attractive man I turn into a stammering mouse.
"Recent break-up?" he wanted to know.
"No, over a year ago. But it was quite hard. It was one of my reasons to leave Germany" Anna wasn't sure why she was giving such private information to a complete stranger.
"Yeah...I understand. I broke up with my girlfriend a few months ago too. It was a terrible mess. That's why I bought the farm. To make a clean break and a fresh start. A new life in the countryside. Just me and my animals without the struggles of dating and relationships."
"I see. Welcome to the neighbourhood then, I guess."
And welcome to the friendzone, Anna, she thought to herself.
"Yes! Here's to us as neighbours!"
His wink did things to her that promised nothing good.
Evan fumbled with his hands. A mix of excitement and nervousness sat inside of him.
When Zoe brought the idea of adopting a dog to him one day, he thought it was perfect. The two had more than enough time to take care of one with the holiday season. Though Evan never had any experience with pets, Zoe recalled having a golden retriever, Sadie, in her childhood.
“Excited?” Zoe asks, remaining her focus on driving. The roads were a little icy in the late December weather.
Evan nods, “A little scared, but I’m excited.”
Zoe pulls into the parking lot of the animal shelter. The cold wind welcomed Evan’s face and lungs when he opened the car door, sending a chill down his spine.
Zoe intertwines her fingers into Evan’s hand.
“You ready?”
Evan looks at Zoe’s face. She gave him a subtle, reassuring smile. It was almost as her calm demeanor was seeping through her fingertips, transferring it to Evan’s hand.
Evan squeezed her hand tighter, nodding.
The shelter had a thick odar hanging in the air when the couple walked in. A lady greeted them, and Zoe explained what they were looking for. She led them to an array of dog kennels. Each dog they looked at, the lady told them their story.
Zoe looked up at Evan each time. What do you think?
Let’s keep looking. Evan would reply by shaking his head.
Soon, a dog finally caught Evan’s eyes.
A smaller dog sat in the corner of the cage. It’s back was to them, so all you could see was it’s thin light brown coat.
“This is Buddy,” the kennel lady explained to him, “six years old. We aren’t quite sure what breed he is, but we believe he is part corgi and part beagle.”
“How did he end up here?” Evan asked.
“Previous family abandoned him when he got older. They preferred cuter puppies, and traded him for a much younger, purebred dog.”
Evan’s heart ached for the dog, even feeling a little sympathy. His own father left, and traded him and his mom for another family. Evan remembered feeling hurt because of it.
Evan knew exactly what Buddy needed.
“Buddy barely moves though,” the kennel lady says, “there are more dogs over here.”
“Um… could I try to…?”
The kennel lady shrugs before unlocking the cage.
Evan slowly enters the cage. Buddy turned his head slightly, looking at Evan. Evan noticed he had amber eyes.
Evan crouched down. He extended his hand outwards, towards Buddy. The dog slowly, and cautiously, stood up, and began to approach Evan. Buddy extended his muzzle to his hand, sniffing Evan’s fingers.
Buddy inched closer. Evan slowly lowered his hand on Buddy’s back. Buddy tensed at Evan’s touch. The dog looked at Evan, and Evan worried he startled Buddy. However, Buddy relaxed, and melted in his touch.
“Well would you look at that,” the kennel lady said, “Buddy usually doesn’t like to be touched by others.”
Evan looks at Zoe, who is smiling at him.
“Can we get this one?” Evan asks.
“I don’t think we have a choice.”
-
Evan was getting used to having a dog around their apartment, and Buddy was used to having a home.
“You two look comfy,” Zoe smiles, holding two mugs of hot chocolate in her hands. Both mugs visibly had tall whipped cream dollops, and were sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy canes.
Evan was on the couch, Buddy on his lap. They were wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, and Buddy was enjoying the gentle scratches Evan was giving him.
Buddy had started to be relaxed when Evan or Zoe had touched him. The dog had let it’s guard down to them, and was more and more cheerful each coming day.
“Come join us,” Evan patted the spot next to him.
“Hold on, I need a photo of my two favorite boys,” Zoe pulls out her phone, setting the hot chocolate on the nearby coffee table.
Though Evan was usually camera shy, he gave Zoe a huge, goofy smile, making Zoe laugh as she snapped the photo. She then sits next to Evan on the couch. Evan wraps her some of his blanket.
“This may be my new favorite photo,” Zoe comments, “look how cute you both are.”
Evan blushes as Zoe puts her phone away. She reaches over to Evan’s lap, stroking Buddy’s fur. Buddy licks her wrist in return.
“Are we ready to start movie night?” Evan asks, sipping his drink.
“Yep,” Zoe says, popping open a fresh bag of plain popcorn. Buddy looked at Zoe, eyeing the snack. Zoe passed him a kernel. Buddy graciously accepted the treat.
“Zoe!”
“Relax,” Zoe says, “it’s not going to hurt him. Connor and I used to feed our old dog popcorn all the time.”
Evan could imagine Zoe and Connor as children, taking turns to feed Sadie handfuls of popcorn. He could also imagine Cynthia reminding them to stop feeding their dog (of course, they wouldn’t listen).
“Okay. What type of movie do you want to watch?” Evan asks, clicking the remote, scrolling through different genres.
They decided on a dog movie. It seemed fitting, since Buddy was in their arms to watch it. As Evan clicked ‘play,’ he curled into Zoe’s side.
“This is the best way to beat the cold,” Evan says, taking in the warmth of Zoe’s body.
“I’d have to agree.”
-
“He looks ridiculous.”
“Everyone needs to be bundled up,” Evan says, picking up Buddy, “including pets.”
Evan had dressed Buddy in a thick winter coat. Booties were on each of his paws, and the outfit was topped with a knitted dog hat.
“Besides, I think he is rocking the outfit,” Evan jokes.
Zoe hooks the dog leash to Buddy’s collar, “Whatever you say dear. You ready for a walk Bud?!”
Buddy wagged his tail, and began to pant excitly.
“Before we go, one more person has to put on some winter clothes,” Evan eyes Zoe.
“I’m wearing a coat!” Zoe exclaims, “and it’s just a walk.”
Evan grabs a scarf and hat, “It’s still twenty degrees outside. We don’t want mommy to be cold, right Buddy?”
Buddy barks in reply.
“Fine,” Zoe allows Evan to wrap her scarf around her neck, and slip her hat on her head. Once he’s done, he gives Zoe a quick kiss on the cheek.
Just as Evan is about to open the door, Zoe grabs his hand, pulling him closer to her.
“You missed,” Zoe smirks.
Evan closes his eyes, and leans into Zoe, pressing his lips to hers. Zoe’s hands wrap around the bare spots of his neck that his scarf did not cover. Evan a breath hitches at the touch, and he wraps his arms around her lower back.
A yip interrupted them. Zoe and Evan break apart. Buddy was patiently sitting on the floor, looking utterly betrayed. Zoe and Evan blush and giggle.
Zoe gives Evan one last kiss before opening the door, the cool air welcoming their faces. Buddy quickly jumped outside, hopping into the fresh, fluffy snow from the previous night. He rolled around until snow covered his muzzle.
Buddy led the way during the walk, eager to look at everything ahead of him. Evan had his arm linked to Zoe’s, admiring the winter wonderland in front of them. Dark pine trees were coated with snow. The sky was blue, and not it’s normal grey. The sun was brightly shining on their faces, and snowflakes were lazily descending from the sky.
“The weather is nice,” Evan says.
Zoe nods, “Buddy is enjoying it.”
Buddy was attempting to catch falling snowflakes into his mouth. Evan and Zoe giggled.
The only downside to the winter weather is that when snow mixes with a dirt road, then it becomes muddy. Mud puddles were formed all over the road they were walking on.
Unfortunately, Buddy jumped right into a puddle.
Evan and Zoe gasped, but Buddy loved it. He rolled around and splashed in the sticky dirt.
Evan lifted him up, holding him arms length out. Buddy was smiling as mud was dripping off him.
“Looks like someone will need a bath.”
-
Zoe carefully lowered Buddy into their bathtub. Buddy had a look of fear on his face. When Zoe mentioned that he needed a bath, Buddy did whatever it took to avoid it.
Even if it meant trailing mud into their apartment.
“See Bud? It’s okay,” Zoe says once his paws dipped into the water.
Buddy splashed the water, still uneasy.
“I cleaned up all the mud,” Evan enters the bathroom, “how are things going in here?”
“I’m just trying to get Buddy to calm down.”
Evan sits next to Zoe. He reaches his hand over to Buddy, scratching his ears. Buddy was still tense as Zoe gently set him down.
“See? Not that bad,” Evan assures the dog.
Zoe squirts dog shampoo into her hand. She allows Buddy to smell it before applying it, lightly massaging it into his fur. The soap helped the mud slip off with ease. Buddy became more relaxed with Evan’s presence and Zoe’s gentle motions.
“The warm water must feel nice after being in the cold,” Evan says, helping Zoe rinse the soap off.
Zoe wiggles her eyebrows, “What if we did this once we finish cleaning Buddy up?”
“I like the way you think.”
A mist of water droplets hit the couple as Buddy began to shake himself dry. The two turn to each other, before laughing.
“Guess he already showered us off,” Zoe chuckles.
Evan reaches for a soft towel, and Zoe lifts Buddy out of the tub. Evan dries the dog off before wrapping him up.
-
Evan was thankful that the cafe allowed dogs.
“You ready to see mommy perform?” Evan cooed, holding Buddy in one arm, and a bouquet of lavender and carnation flowers in another.
Zoe had gotten a gig to perform at a winter event at a local cafe. Evan was ecstatic to watch her perform (despite listening to her practice a couple times).
Evan finds an open table. A waiter comes by to ask him what he would like, and he just orders a tea.
The show began, and numerous small and local musicians arrived on stage, each singing a song, and playing many different types of instruments.
When it was Zoe’s turn to arrive on the stage, Evan’s heart sprang with excitement. As Zoe got her acoustic guitar tuned, her eyes traced around the crowd until they found Evan and Buddy. Once she did, Evan moved Buddy’s paw to make it look like he was waving at her. A smile appeared on Zoe’s face.
Zoe began to straighten up, and took in a deep breath. She began to strike the first chords of White Winter Hymnal. She began to sing softly and smoothly.
“I was following
I was following
I was following
I was following
I was following the pack
All swallowed in their coats
With scarves of red tied ‘round their throats
To keep their little heads
From falling in the snow
And I turned ‘round and there you go
And Michael you would fall
And turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime.”
Zoe stopped singing, still strumming her guitar. The guitar produced a soft, warm sound. She hummed along to the song. Evan closed his eyes, enjoying just the sound of her voice and guitar.
Zoe repeated the chorus a couple more times before finishing the song. The audience, including Evan, clapped for Zoe. Buddy began to howl, cheering on Zoe. The audience chuckled.
Zoe grinned before exiting the stage, allowing the next performer to take the stage. Evan left his seat, following Zoe behind the stage.
She beamed at Evan when he approached her.
“Amazing job! You sounded… gorgeous,” Evan compliments.
“Thank you. That means a lot.”
“Buddy also thought you sounded amazing,” Evan states.
Zoe holds her arms out, and Evan places Buddy in them. Buddy nuzzled into Zoe’s chest.
“I also got you these,” Evan displays the flowers to Zoe.
“Thanks Ev,” Zoe leans to him, and Evan pulls her into a hug.
“Do you think you can sing for us again tonight?”
“Always for you two.”
-
“Evan! How does Buddy look?”
Evan adjusted his tie as he looked over at Buddy, who was in Zoe’s arms. He wore a sparkly black bow tie. Evan and Zoe were planning to take him to the Murphys’ annual New Year’s Eve party. He would be able to meet Cynthia, Larry, Connor, Heidi, and their friends.
“Awwww, he looks so handsome,” Evan pet Buddy’s head.
“I tried putting the rest of his tuxedo on, but someone wasn’t cooperating,” Zoe says.
Buddy gives them a guilty look. Evan laughs.
“I think he looks amazing,” Evan says, “and so do you.”
“It isn’t too flashy, is it?” Zoe asked.
She wore a black top with a metallic gold skirt. It matched Evan’s black suit and gold tie.
“Nope. You look perfect. Don’t you agree Buddy?”
Buddy licks Zoe’s face.
“Thanks Bud,” Zoe presses a kiss to Buddy’s head.
“Could I get one?” Evan smirks.
“Buddy, could you give daddy a kiss?” Zoe teases, reaching the dog towards Evan.
“Zoeeeee,” Evan whines, giggling as Buddy licks his face as well.
Zoe playfully sticks out her tongue before kissing his cheek. Zoe sets Buddy down. Zoe noticed her phones started to buzz on the table. She picked it up. There were numerous different texts from her mom.
Cynthia: Are you and Evan coming?
Cynthia: The party has already started.
Zoe looked at the time. They were thirty minutes past the time they were supposed to arrive.
“Hey Evan.”
“Hm?” Evan asks as he combs his hair.
“We were supposed to be at my parent’s house thirty minutes ago.”
Evan stops, “I knew we shouldn’t have waited for Buddy to wake up.”
“In my defense, he was sleeping on my lap. What was I supposed to do, move and wake him up?”
“Fair point.”
-
“There you two are!” Cynthia scolds Zoe and Evan when they walk into the Murphy house, wearing a dark dress and holding a wine glass in tack, “what took you two so long?”
Before Zoe can explain, Cynthia sees Buddy in her arms.
“Did you guys get a dog?!”
“Mom, meet Buddy!” Zoe says.
“Well aren’t you the cutest!” Cynthia gushes over Buddy. Zoe sets Buddy onto the ground. He sniffs Cynthia curiously before allowing Cynthia to touch him. He curled up against Cynthia’s touch.
“He’s also such a sweetheart!” Cynthia coos.
Cynthia calls for everyone. At the moment Cynthia said the word “dog,” everyone quickly rushed to see. The moment eyes were laid on Buddy, he was all anyone could rave about.
-
“I think he’s enjoying the attention,” Evan chuckles.
Jared, Alana, and Connor were crouched on the ground. Jared got the brilliant idea of using his tie for a game of tug of war. Alana and Connor were cheering Buddy on as he pulled the tie, determined to win. Earlier, Larry slid small pieces of chicken for Buddy under the table during dinner, and Cynthia and Heidi had been showering him with belly rubs and kisses throughout the night. No one even noticed when midnight hit the clock. All eyes were on Buddy.
Evan and Zoe were sitting on the couch, watching Buddy like proud parents.
“He’s the star of the show,” Zoe agrees.
“I’m glad we adopted him,” Evan says, resting his head on Zoe’s shoulder, “he makes everyone happy. He makes me happy.”
“He makes me happy too,” Zoe plants a kiss to his forehead, returning her focus to Buddy, who tore the tie out of Jared’s hands. Alana scooped the dog in her arms as Jared claimed he let the dog win.
Evan smiled, closing his eyes. He wanted to savor this moment forever.
Today I had to say goodbye to someone that I love.
In December 2008 I picked you up and held you in my arms for the first time, the way you looked up at me with your beautiful goldish green eyes melted my heart. You followed me everywhere, like a little shadow and would cry when you couldn't see me. You were the most hyperactive, affectionate and loving little ball of energy I'd ever met and I knew we'd be together until the end.
We've been through a lot together, lifestyle changes, friends, family, partners, houses, vet emergencies everything came and went but you were always a constant. You'd meow happily, rubbing your soft cheeks on me and headbutting me when we sat out in the garden together.
You'd call out when you heard a food packet and happily clean your plate of every last morsel.
You've never let your weight get you down and for a chubby old gal, you were quick on your feet - the fastest Soot Sprite of the West, defender of laps and stealer of chicken wings.
When the vet called me in late July 2020 with the results of a biopsy, my heart sank. "Haru has oral squamous cell carcinoma" she said, an aggressive cancer that we couldn't cure. Your cancer was already at 1cm in diameter and your life expectancy was 2-4 months.
Since then, I did everything to make your last days the best they possibly could be. You got any treats and food your little heart desired, your once a year treat of birthday prawns became 'whenever you want" prawns but going outside on the leash was your favourite thing ever and every day you pawed at the door and looked at me with your big pleading eyes, asking to go out again. You seemed to be having a good time and for a while no one would ever have guessed you were terminally ill. We've taken about 18GB of photos together, including a silly 80's inspired photoshoot that I will print to hang on the wall and remember the good times. We have so many memories that I'll treasure until the day I die.
At about the 1.5 month after diagnosis mark, you began drooling a viscous, foul smelling saliva 24/7. That's when I knew you were starting to feel it more but you powered on, still excited about food and going outside so I knew it wasn't your time.
That was until Sunday September 27, 2020- The day you stopped eating, the day you refused all food and liquids. I tried everything I could to entice you to eat, your favourite food, new food, top of the line foods but you didn't want any of it. All day you were extremely cuddly and purring your little head off, all day you wanted nothing more than to be at my side and I knew it was time, I knew that was your way of saying "I've had enough now, I'm ready to go but I will always love you" it's like you were only holding on for my sake.
We spent hours in the garden today, we had a little picnic and let you roll around in the dirt. At 1pm the vet showed up and gave you a sedative, she said within 10mins you'd have calmed down and be ready for the next step. We sat in the garden together and waited. 10 mins, 15, 20 passed and you were still lively, growling at the vet and telling her off for daring to upset you in your own home. She gave you another sedative, now 15 times the normal dose but you still powered through and shouted obscenities. You wouldn't be you if you didn't go down fighting. Finally, the sedative began to work and the cannula went in, your eyes closed and you lowered your head. Within seconds you were gone.
You gave me a reason to smile every day, a reason to do better, a reason to try, a reason to live and a reason to love. We had an understanding, a deep and truly wonderful, unspoken bond that no one else shared. No cat could ever hold a candle to you and there will forever be a huge void in my heart and soul that can never be filled.
On October 14th 2020, one day before your 12th birthday I will be getting a memorial tattoo in honour of you. I will wear it with pride and tell everyone who wants to listen of your story, everyone will know how amazing you are and your memory will live on forever.
I am eternally grateful to have met you and had someone make as big an impact as you in my life. 11 years together wasn't long enough..
Tonight I'll be having a dinner of prawns in memory of you and I want everyone to think of you the next time they have prawns too.
You are my life, my happiness, my Nugget.
I love you, Haru.
My heart has joined the thousand, for my friend stopped running today.
The Slippery Slope: An Izzy Stradlin Fanfiction
Chapter 1: Penguin on a Leash
MASTERLIST
Story Summary: 6 Chapter mini series about Izzy meeting a biologists who works at the zoo. Takes place after his time with Guns an’ Roses
Izzy watched the penguins swim around in their habitat trying to understand what all the hype was about. Lafayette had fliers and banners advertising the new baby penguins that were born at the zoo only a couple of weeks before he moved back to his hometown. After quickly realizing that he had fallen into a rut since leaving Guns N’ Roses, he decided to mix things up and visit the zoo to see these overhyped penguins and alleged peaceful gardens that were pictured in half the advertisements he saw.
It was around 2 pm, and Poppy felt relief that there were no children tours on Fridays. Since it was slow she was granted the permission to take one of the injured penguins on a walk. This was without a doubt one of those moments when she was glad that she went to college.
“Yeah Phil, that’s where you will live once your flipper gets a little better,” Izzy’s attention was pulled from watching the penguins swim about when he heart the soft voice followed by some form of squawking and giggles.
“Yeah, and then once you are fully healed, you get to go back to Chile!” Izzy found the soft voice to be a girl, probably only a few years younger than him, talking to one of the penguins who she had on a leash. Maybe it would have been considered weird, but after touring with Guns, the bar for what was actually weird was high. Girl dressed in full wetsuit while walking around a penguin on a leash just wasn’t weird enough.
“What’s wrong with his flipper?” Poppy’s attention was pulled from her penguin when Izzy spoke. She sent a soft smile towards Izzy, just another zoo patron. She felt a sigh escape her as she quickly looked around to make sure they were alone.
“Poor thing was found cut up on a beach. We’re guessing that he got cut up by a piece of steel, but he is healing really well, such a trooper. I will be sad to see him go,” Izzy held onto every word as she spoke. It was clear that she loved her penguin friend. With her soaked hair and wetsuit, he wondered if she recent went swimming with the penguin.
“Did you two just come from a swim?”
Izzy felt a small smile grow on his face as she giggled at his question.
“No. Before this walk I was checking up on a Dolphin and Edward startled me causing me to fall into the water....I swear sometimes dolphins can be really rude,” Poppy fwlt small butterflies begin to flap their wings in her stomach. The nerves were beginning to soar.
Poppy smiled as Izzy listened to her go on and on about how their little zoo volunteered to help Phil the penguin get better. He was her pride and joy, and there was no doubt that she would be crying when he went back to the wild. They would be happy tears, but tears none the less.
Poppy was shocked when Izzy hadn’t started to show disinterest half way through her rambling. Little did she know that not only was Izzy actually interested, but he was also used to someone rambling about animals. The penguins were a good change from snakes.
“Do you only work with penguins?”
“No, I work with most of the water creatures here. I stay away from the reptile house, those snakes creep me out. I don’t trust them,” Poppy felt a shiver travel through her as she thought of the snakes, or danger noodles as she called them behind closed doors. It wasn’t professional for someone who had a doctorate in zoology to call snakes danger noodles...even if that’s what they were.
“I’m Poppy by the way,” she sent a warm smile Izzy’s way after silence filled the air in between them.
“Izzy,” Izzy reached out his hand and quickly shook Poppy’s wet hand. He was almost shocked she hadn’t recognized him.
“Is this your first time here in the zoo?” Poppy asked hoping to keep the conversation alive. He was definitely the quiet type, but she liked that. She also liked that he was incredibly hot.
“I haven’t been here for at least 15 years....” Izzy watched the penguin Poppy was walking look at the photos of penguins that hung on the wall for decoration. Izzy decided it was strange seeing a penguin outside of its inclosure, but he figured it was strange seeing a rockstar in a zoo.
“Well I have only been here for one year, but a lot has changed. I’m already giving Phil, my penguin buddy here, a tour...would you like to join us? It would help me look more normal because I would be talking to an actual human instead of just a penguin. All that I ask would be for you to help keep your eyes out for any zoo patrons. I’m supposed to be avoiding visitors,” she hoped, no prayed that Izzy would join her. It was clear that he wasn’t from around here by the way he dressed, and she wanted to know what type of cowboy wore a floppy hat like the ones they worse in the musical Newsies.
After a quick chuckle, Izzy replied. “Well you haven’t been very good about staying away from zoo visitors, so I think you could use the help.” Truth be told, Izzy almost said no, but there was something about her silver eyes that caught his attention.
Poppy spent the next couple of hours giving Izzy the most in depth tour she could. She wouldn’t admit it, but she was definitely showing off. She couldn’t remember the last time someone had listened to her ramble this much, and she was going to take full advantage of it. She could hear her mother in the back of her head lecturing her on how she was boring the poor boy to death, but whenever he asked a question or sent a small smile her way she pushed that thought to the back of her head.
Izzy quickly learned that he could listen to her talk about her animals all day. Her silver eyes appeared a little greener whenever she talked about them. Her cheeks would blush and the tips of her ears would turn a little red whenever she apologizes for rambling, but Izzy would always reassure her that it was fine. This only made her cheeks go redder. He had to admit, it was pretty cute.
“That ones name is Edward. He is the one who startled me this morning resulting in me falling into the water,” Poppy pointed at one of the larger dolphins in the far right corner.
“He is defiantly my favorite then,” Izzy teased while looking the aquatic beast up and down.
“Edward doesn’t seem like a dolphin name,” he added walking over towards the dolphin she pointed out. He took another sip of the water that she had given him earlier in the tour. With all of their walking she didn’t want him to get dehydrated.
“That’s why I call him Axl,” this caught Izzy off guard causing him to choke on his water. After a couple of coughs he was able to regain his composure.
“Axl?”
“Yeah of Guns N’ Roses...he’s the lead singer, and according to the tabloids he is horny dick. Edward here shares a similar personality. I heard in a interview not too long ago that Axl is apparently from Lafayette, so I thought it was perfect,” she shrugged before she went back to watching the penguin who was clearly interested in his dolphin ‘friends’.
Izzy smirked as he watched dolphin Axl swim around. He wondered if she was a fan of Guns N’ Roses or just heard of the music. It was almost impossible to avoid hearing about the band. He had been trying to avoid the band entirely for weeks now. Bottom line, he appreciated that she didn’t know who he was. What he was or used to be.
“Looks like Axl is taking a liking to you,” she giggled as she pointed towards the dolphin that was clearly staring at him. Poppy giggled as Izzy moved left and right trying to test to see if the dolphin was actually looking at him. He felt like a fool, but her laugh was worth him making a fool of himself.
“If you ever want to go swimming with your new buddy, let me know. Usually Axl doesn’t like guys, but he seems like he wouldn’t be against swimming with you,” he turned to see the girl smiling from ear to ear.
“No, I’m good. I don’t feel like dealing with a horny Axl,” this earned a giggle from Poppy. It was true though, he had dealt enough with his Axl’s bull shit for years, and he didn’t need to meet the dolphin version.
“Well.....if you ever change your mind,” Poppy walked over towards a small table filled with fliers and grabbed one. She quickly flipped to the page that had her picture on it and wrote her phone number on it.
“This is my personal number, feel free to call it to go swimming....or...if you want to talk about other things. I’m sure you have heard enough about sea creatures to last you a while,” Poppy felt her cheeks flash red as she turned her focus towards the penguin, too intimidated to look Izzy in the eyes.
“Sure,” he said before she waved goodbye and headed behind a staff only door, penguin right behind her.
He opened the brochure and looked at the about our staff page she had written her number on. She looked very different in that photo. Her wetsuit was replaced by a white lab coat where the red hair that framed her face caused her freckles to stand out even more.
Doctor Poppy Thomas is our second aquatic specialist. As a proud Indiana Alumni, Dr Poppy earned her masters and PHD at Purdue University with a focus on animal rehabilitation and psychology. Poppy joined us during the Summer of 1990, and has become a quick favorite amongst the penguins.
Poppy couldn’t help the smile that was plastered on her face as she brought Philip back to the rehab room. She couldn’t believe that she had actually given someone her phone number. She was so proud of herself. Was it professional? No.
Did she do it anyway? Yes.
Plus if anyone asked she could just give a little while lie and say that he was writing a paper and needed to get a hold of her.
“Someone is in a good mood,” Poppy looked over towards Dr Elliot who was reading some academic journal.
“Went on a walk with Philip, he is moving his arm a lot better. He appears to almost have full range. Don’t ya buddy?” Poppy looked at the penguin who was minding his own business.
“Ohh good to hear Poppy!” Sally, one of their technicians, cheered while helping Poppy take off the harness.
“So who was the guy you were showing around? Was he someone who donated a lot of money or something?” Sally asked the moment Dr Elliot left the room.
Despite only being a vet technician, she had more experience with how their Zoo worked than Poppy. Sally had worked at the Zoo for over 10 years, and no one gets a tour unless they are someone special. Now if they were special to Poppy or to the Zoo was a totally different question.
“No, just a visiting paying patron of the zoo,” Poppy shrugged back.
Sally smirked as she saw the red hues fill Poppy’s cheeks. Did someone have a small crush?
“A cute paying patron?”
“I...uhhh...I didn’t notice,” this only earned a laugh from Sally.
“Ohh honey...one of the volunteers asked me why you were giving a tour to a cute guy who looked to be about you age ,” Sally smirked the entire time she was talking.
Poppy just brushed off her comment and went to change out of her wetsuit. Sally was married with two children, so she lived through Poppy. It was something Poppy had grown used to. Whether it was Sally telling her to go out to a bar or to see some concert, Sally would make the recommendations. Her recommendations would also include guys to date, her very unwanted recommendations.
Poppy then spent the rest of the day checking up on the other animals, Izzy never slipping her mind. She then drove home, trying to get her mind off of the boy she gave a tour to. She sang along to songs on the radio all while feeling bad for anyone nearby who heard her poor vocal skills. Once she got home, she walked into her cozy one bedroom apartment and immediately walked over towards her kitchen and began to cook. The entire time she never took her eyes off of the phone.
She grew impatient as dinner turned into watching a show which turned into showering and heading to bed. All hope of Izzy calling her diminished as she curled up under the covers.
Almost in parallel Izzy sat on his couch, silence filling the air. He had debated back and forth on whether or not to call her. He could hear his band mates...ex-bandmates in the back of his head giving him their unwanted advice. Axl was saying to move on, he was a rockstar and she was nothing. Slash was saying something about how she would be a good fuck because doctors know the human anatomy best. Steven and Duff were saying to go for it because she was cute. He let a groan escape him as he plopped down on the couch. Chicks were so much easier when he was in a band.
Izzy soon found himself digging through his bag that was filled with sheet music and other crap, eventually finding the flier with her number. He then found his phone and dialed the number, hoping it wasn’t too late. He turned towards the large black clock that hung on the wall. He cussed to himself as he noticed it was 3 in the morning.
He had almost lost hope when the phone continued to ring, but he felt a smile cross his face when he heard a groggy hello from the other end.
“Hey, Poppy? This is Izzy.”
Beautiful Stranger (Chris Evans x OFC) -- part fifteen
Hello again! This quarantine business on top of online classes has been a rough ride so far. I hope you all are well and safe! Stay inside and wash ya hands! (And enjoy this cutesy lil chapter)
Warnings: none! Except for a tiny mention of her anxiety and nightmares. Otherwise it is all fluff people xx.
Look at his face he’s so sweet :(
Tumblr media
The ride to my hometown is as promised. About thirty minutes outside the city, but far enough out that the skyscrapers and crowds are foreign.
I opted to drive since I know the roads, but Chris was reluctant to put Dodger in my car -- even though I told him I didn’t mind at all. So, Dodger sits in Chris’s lap in the passenger seat while I drive.
I get on the interstate first for just a few minutes, and then it’s winding back roads until we reach the park.
“Okay,” I reach up to turn down the radio. “That’s my high school,” I point out the window. “And junior high, and elementary,” I chuckle. “All clumped together.”
“Wait, really?” Chris asks, turning around in his seat as we drive by.
“We’ll pass it on the way out,” I assure him. “The dog park is up here.”
“It’s all so small,” Chris laughs.
“A lot different from Boston, huh?”
“A little, yeah,” he admits with a smile. “You haven’t been, have you?”
“Nope,” I shake my head. “But I know it’s a big city.”
“Well, yeah,” he laughs, scratching Dodger’s head. “But there’s suburbs and stuff.”
“And stuff,” I mimic his tone. “I never would’ve guessed.”
I’m looking away because I’m being a responsible driver, keeping my eyes on the road, but I can feel his eyes still on me. Once I find a moment, I glance back over at him, and I’m not sure what to make of the look he’s giving me. It looks a little like he wants to tackle me.
And I’m not entirely sure I’d be opposed to the idea.
“Here we are,” I announce as I pull into the parking lot, deciding to change the subject instead of even daring to venture down the road of asking him what that look was for.
There’s a few people out with their dogs, but mostly older couples, so by the looks of it, we’re safe.
Chris is still wearing his sunglasses and baseball cap, though. I’m not complaining. It’s not a bad look. I just miss his blue eyes.
But that’s for another day.
The second Chris opens the door, Dodger is rushing out and tugging on the leash. I point toward the gate and it takes no time for Chris to open it, letting Dodger inside before unhooking his leash.
Dodger is off in a flash, running and jumping all over the grass. There aren’t many dogs here for him to make friends with, but there are a couple, and that seems to be enough.
Chris grabs my hand and laces our fingers together, and I can’t hide my look of shock. We don’t show much PDA, aside from the very occasional handhold (which isn’t normally with our fingers intertwined like this) or him opening doors for me, but we also don’t go out in public at all for PDA to be a conversation. A brief moment walking from the door to my car is one thing, and lasts a few seconds, but this is different.
The dog area isn’t crowded, but the park itself is, and it isn’t far away. Children and their parents are running all around. Probably hundreds of phones in pockets, some already out to document their kids’ fun. They could so easily turn their lens on us.
But still, Chris squeezes my hand and tugs me over to a bench. We sit and watch Dodger roll in the grass, clearly excited to be outside of the city. Chris pulls my hand with his to rest on his leg, but not before pressing a kiss to my knuckles.
I’m going to melt if he keeps doing this.
Little touches like this when we’re just in his apartment, on his couch, are one thing. But being in public, in a dog park, where other couples are sitting just like us, letting their dogs run around. This is another thing, another feeling entirely.
It gives me this strange feeling of normalcy. I’ve never been in a relationship to even know what makes one normal, but I’ve seen Camile and Jack. They do things like this. They’ve done a lot of things that Chris and I have to either substitute with an indoor activity, or be extremely careful doing -- which in turn just almost ruins it entirely.
But this. This is normal.
I lean my head onto his shoulder out of habit, and he leans his back on mine, making me smile. My eyes glance around the park, a nervous habit I’ve developed more for his sake than mine, but no cameras are in sight. The older couple smiles at us, but that is all.
No screaming fans, no pushing or shoving me out of the way to reach him, no blinding camera flashes.
Just the sound of children laughing, of birds singing in the trees, and of Dodger rolling around in the grass. The feel of Chris’s hand in mine, his head leaned against mine, our bodies right next to each other. Right where we’re supposed to be.
It’s not at all like the nightmares I’ve had. I hate to even admit that I’ve had them, but I have. Violent flashes of being ripped away from him in a crowd, of him growing angry with me for not knowing how to handle the situation.
“What are you thinking about?”
His question sounds so laced with concern that my immediate reaction is to be defensive of my thoughts. “Nothing. Why?”
He lifts his head off of mine, prompting me to meet his gaze. It’s harder anyway when he has sunglasses on, but somehow I can tell he’s looking at me. “I heard you take a deep breath.”
“Ah,” I chuckle. “Sorry. Anxiety.”
“Anxiety?” One mention of the word and he’s taking his sunglasses off, like he knows I’ll be just a little better if I can see the blue of his eyes -- and it’s true. “What’s wrong?”
I shake my head. “It’s silly.”
“It’s not silly,” he replies firmly, but not scolding. Now that he’s taken his sunglasses off, I really can see the concern in his eyes that I heard in his voice. “What’s the matter?”
I squeeze his hand. “Just thinking about this. Us.”
That answer doesn’t bring him any relief, though. “Is everything okay?”
“Oh. Oh! Yes, we’re okay, that’s not what I meant,” I laugh again, this time covering my eyes with my free hand. “Sorry, I’m making a mess of such a small thing.”
“You’re not making a mess,” he assures me in a quieter tone.
“I was just thinking about you holding my hand,” I finally get out.
“I like holding your hand,” he says cheekily, with a grin for added effect.
“I know, I like holding your hand, too,” I smile, and I would be rolling my eyes if he wasn’t as sweet as he is. “But this is new. I mean, yeah, you’ve gone to lunch with me and all, but this is the first time we’ve been...out like this. Together.”
He squeezes my hand again and presses another kiss to my knuckles. “I was thinking about that too.”
“No you weren’t,” I gasp in disbelief. “Really?”
He nods. “I was. But this is a perfect first outing, isn’t it? I mean, getting to see your hometown and let Dodge run around.”
“Really?”
“Really,” he replies, and I can’t tell if he’s mocking me or not, but his face doesn’t look teasing. “I miss doing stuff like this. After the first Captain America movie,” I hear him unconsciously lower his voice, “things took off in a way I wasn’t expecting at all, and it’s just been harder to go anywhere and do these simple things anymore.” He pauses and looks back at me, a small smile on his lips. “I’m just glad I get to do them with you now.”
There’s no fighting the smile that crawls onto my face at that moment. So much is wrapped in such a small sentence. The appreciation, the thankfulness, and the promise. All in one.
“Me too,” I reply softly, meaning it wholeheartedly. “I’m glad I have someone to share them with now.”
Our sweet moment is interrupted when Dodger comes racing back over to Chris, putting his paws up on the bench and showing off the tennis ball in his mouth. Chris lets go of my hand to grab the tennis ball, holding it up with a laugh as Dodger dances around, his eyes focused on the toy.
“Where did you get this?” Chris glances at the ball, but it’s just a regular tennis ball.
My eyes catch the couple on the other bench, both laughing in our direction, presumably at Dodger. I tap Chris’s shoulder and point to them. “I think it’s theirs,” I explain. I raise my voice to say, “I’m so sorry!”
“It’s okay!” The man calls back. “He can have it. What’s his name?”
“Dodger,” Chris speaks up, then tosses the ball away. Dodger bolts for it, jumping in the air to catch the tennis ball mid-bounce.
“Thank you,” I wave.
I pull out my phone to capture the moment Chris falls onto his back, letting Dodger climb up onto him. He does this in his living room floor all the time, but something about seeing him do it here, outside in a dog park, makes it that much sweeter and I have to have it forever.
I get a particularly good photo of him where I can see his blinding smile, so I immediately make it my lockscreen. I had kind of been waiting for a picture I could use as my lockscreen that didn’t look so obviously Chris Evans, you know? I mean, I could write it off as having an obsession with him, like every other woman my age, but that would feel too dishonest. This picture, though, you can’t even tell that that’s Chris. So, if someone asks, I can wholeheartedly say, “That’s my soulmate.”
And I didn’t ever think that that would be something I’d want to do.
While filming season 1 of obx drew was one of the first people you got close with dont get me wrong you were friends with everyone and close with everyone but you and Drew’s friendship was a bit more then the others, you noticed how in the first month of filming season one Drew got a little flirty complimenting you every chance you got “wow that dress looks beautiful on you which always led to you blushing. By the third month of filming he would open doors for you and always offering his water to you.
6 months into coming you guys held hands hugged and cuddled. In public the people who didn’t know you guys thought y’all were dating but you were not you never went on dates and he never asked you to be his girlfriend. Of course you hung out outside of filming but it was mostly with the group every now and then you two would go out alone.
Currently you were on set filming season 2 you had already done your scenes for the day but decided to stay back just in case they needed you to help or, or help madelyn take pictures and funny videos for tomfoolery, “hey did I show you the photo of Drew I took this morning in the trailers?” Madelyn asked after taking a photo of the sunset with the silhouettes of the pogues in the background looking like shadows “no, but now you said it I need to see it” you said she handed her camera over flicking to the photo and there it was Drew practically passed out in his breakfast burrito “oh my god that is gold he isn’t living that down ever”
Who isn’t living what down?” The man who uses a burrito as a pillow muses at you “oh nothing dearest drewseph” Maddie said laughing and putting her camera away “how was your day?” You asked calming down from laughing so hard you barely saw him today “it was good I missed my lady around, oh did you drink enough water? And eat? I know how you get when you don’t eat food” Drew reprimanded but sweetly you rolled your eyes “yes Drew I ate food dont worry they beast is in hibernation from a food coma” you said Maddie and Drew laughed “ok good we don’t need you to break another window” Maddie said remembering how you were starving you all were but you had it the worst and were so mad at Rudy and chase for messing around you punched a window and broke it then immediately apologized for breaking a window and said you were just really hungry Austin walked to you and literally shoved a hamburger in your mouth and you were so quiet for 20 mins while you at his hamburger feeling so much better ever since then everyone makes sure you ate so you don’t end up splitting them in half.
“Yeah yeah I’ve gotten a lot better” “yeah because we all remind you to eat or shove food in your face” jonas walked over to the three of you “hey guys so we just need the pogues for the rest of the day so it’s a wrap on you guys if you wanted to go and stuff” Jonas said and walked off quickly to direct what’s happening next “I was thinking of going out to this lake where you can rent paddle boards and canoes and stuff, do y’all wanna come?” Drew asked “yeah that sounds like fun I’ve never been paddle boarding before” “I would but I promised I would help out around with everything you guys have fun tho” Maddie said you guys said goodbye and hopped into a car.
Once you arrived you immediately took a picture of the view because it was so beautiful “Drew this is beautiful, how did you find this?” You asked amazed “aww yanno just some tourist site thing” you walked up to the people at the booth for the paddle boards once you got the paddle boards you and Drew started to paddle in the lake “so am I your lady or is there a secret women I need to know about?” You asked Drew laughing “oh it’s definitely you but i dont know one of the set members dog looked really good today” you both bursted out laughing “you’re such an idiot” “oh yeah well can an idiot do this?” Drew questioned before throwing himself off the paddle board and doing a flip landing perfectly into the water.
“No I guess an idiot can’t do that, you’ve proved me wrong starkey im quite impressed” you said clapping for him “good because I’ve actually never done that before and just hoped it would look cool not gunna lie I was trying to impress you” Drew said getting slightly red “well you’ve succeeded tremendously” you said you guys continued talking and paddle boarding deciding to race you lossed tho because you fell into the water.
“Drew look at the view it’s soo pretty oh my god” you said taking out your phone and snapping a bunch of photos you stopped when you heard a camera shatter and looked at your phone confused since you put your silencer on so it wouldn’t disrupt your time with Drew you looked over and Drew is looking at his phone smiling then he showed you the photo it was of you in the paddle boat taking a photo of the view “should I post this and be basic and caption it “she thought the view was pretty but I thought she was prettier” ?” Drew asked making your laugh “oh of course I’m trying to turn you into a white girl that should be the first step” you said you sighed “thank you for saying I’m pretty” you blushed and looked down at your reflection in the lake you guys paddle board was side by side so it was easy for him to take his hand to your chin and make you look at him “youre so welcome, honestly you’ve made this whole experience so great and I just want to tell you that I love you a lot and uh do you want to officially be my lady?” You laughed but said yes and you guys kissed it got a little heated because of all the sexual tension that had been built up you had tongues in each other’s mouths your hands in his hair and his on your bare hips on of the paddle boards almost flipped “maybe we should head back to set, also we took the only car for them to get home in” you suggested drew nodded not being able to form words and off to set you went.
When you arrived you saw everyone waiting all in their normal clothes “dudes did you really kidnap my car?” Austin asked “I wouldn’t say “kidnap” I just borrowed it” drew said air quoting kidnap “whatever you’re not riding shot gun for that and neither are you Y/N” Austin said getting in the drivers side you shrugged “SHOTGUN” chase belted out him and JD made eye contact and JD touched the handle first and sat down “gotta be quicker then that” JD said to chase you rolled your eyes and got in the back Drew got in right after you and you both intertwined your hands together the rest piled into the car and off you went to the apartment buildings.
Once you got on the highway JD plugged his phone in the aux and played music Rudy, chase, and both maddies were singing so loudly you got a lot of confidence from no where and unbuckled your seat belt and straddled Drew’s lap “what are you doing?” He questioned wide eyed “you’ll see just go with it” you mumbled and then started to lean in he surprised you when he met you half way and you continued what you had stopped at the lake his hands were squeezing your ass making you want to moan but you didn’t and you tugged on his hair “uh guys ? Can you like I don’t know maybe not do that?” Rudy questioned looking at you guys he was seated right next to drew one of Drew’s hands moved from your ass and waving off rudy. His hand immediately went back to where it was you felt everyone’s eyes on y’all now Rudy groaned annoyed “Ok you can borrow my car from now on” Austin said chase turned the song louder hoping you would stop Madelyn and Madison laughed you heard Madison say “that explains his insta photo she said showing everyone that he did in fact post it madelyn decided to take a picture and video recording “hey guys you gonna come up for air? She asked you just flicked her off you could hear the video replaying “dude this is gunna be so good for tomfoolery”
You guys pulled up to the apartment but you wouldn’t know cause you were still making out with Drew his hands in your shirt this time and you leaving slight hickies on his neck then going back to his lips and pulling his hair making him lean to the side so you can get better accesses chase turned around when no one got out of the car “yo love birds we are here” chase called but you still didn’t move Madison giggled “wow” Madelyn pulled her phone out again and recorded knowing the look on Rudy’s face meant he was about to do something funny “ok that’s it” Rudy stated frustration obviously on his face and tone because he was squished two on one of his side and then both the maddies to his left side keeping him from getting out of the car “I’m fucking hungry and squishedl” he complained turning towards you and drew who were still kissing you felt a hand on your forehead and then suddenly you were being pulled apart from Drew you opened your eyes to see the same was being done with Drew you moved your eyes from Drew’s to Rudy who was literally pulling you apart by your face “we are here it’s time you stop so I can get out” Rudy said his tongue out so he can focus on pulling you apart once he was satisfied he looked at you since you were closest to the door “now get out so I can get out and get food before I lose my shit” you got out and thought drew would follow but he wasn’t fast enough for Rudy’s liking “oh fuck it” Rudy said before climbing over Drew’s lap and then running to his and chases apartment door.
“Yeah don’t mess with Rudy when he is hungry he gets mean” chase said “much like Y/N just not physical leash not yet” chase mumbled “I’m going to my house to watch tv and for Cheetos” JD said “wait I’m coming, everyone out of my car” Austin said catching up with JD drew got out of the car and came straight to you “I guess this is goodbye” he said sadly “yeah I think it is” you said back just as sad “oh my god you live in the same apartment building 3 doors down calm down” chase said going up the stairs Madison followed to get her shoes she left the night before madelyn still there laughing at the video she got of Rudy pulling you and drew apart.
You hugged drew and went in for another kiss, Madelyn had left by now leaving the two of you out there you both pulled apart and said your goodbyes “goodnight drew I’ll see you tomorrow” “goodnight my lady” drew said you went to move out of his embrace but couldn’t he was latched on you tapped his shoulder but only got a hmm “babe, you gotta let go” you said laughing “I did” “yeah for 2 seconds” you literally had to pull him away from you and turned him around and slightly shoved him in the direction of his house he went to come back to you which led you to turn around and run away from him “Drew I love you but if you hug me one more time I won’t let go” you shouted as you got further away from him you heard him laugh and went into your apartment with both maddie’s you heard your phone ding and saw drew texted you saying that he missed you.
Why does TXT’s “We Lost The Summer” MV work?
Hi, I’m back again to overanalyse TXT’s MV for “We Lost The Summer”. After first watching it, I was overwhelmed by sadness but didn’t know why. After all, there have been literally tons of videos and songs about COVID-19. Until 2h ago, perhaps the most heart-wrenching song I’d heard about the topic was FINNEAS’ “What They'll Say About Us". Yet I was more deeply affected by “We Lost The Summer” thanks to its combination of brutal honesty, clever cinematic juxtaposition and images of kids suffering (from first world problems, but problems all the same).
I think what makes the MV work so well are two things:
The song conveys a message of longing for the past, for the "normal". This complements all the contrasting shots of "what is" and "what could have been". It hurts to see kids who could have had a fun summer with their friends out in the warm sun be banished to self-isolation with no one but themselves (or in some cases, a soft toy or a dog) for company.
Their acting. Their facial expressions do tons in expressing the plot, especially in the scenes where they look longingly at the camera. As cheesy as that sounds, their expressions line up perfectly with the almost resentful mood of the song.
Click ‘read more’ for frame-by-frame analysis of what makes the MV work:
0:09-0:15 Taking photos as a group in front of the toilet mirror, probably in school. Bright. Just a normal day in school with ya bros, no problems hugging one another.
0:16 Cut to Yeonjun receiving a Public Safety Alert. He's using an iPhone - this feature was not available until a few months into the COVID-19 outbreak (20 May 2020). Two possibilities - 1) This marks the point at which everything changed i.e. when the pandemic became concerning enough that quarantine was necessary (note the strict warning on screen - "If you leave home, assume you were exposed to COVID-19."); 2) canon-compliant sequence of events - this was in May 2020, when there was also a spike in cases in South Korea (see: Itaewon spike). The former is more likely, considering the lyrics "left alone on the evening of an endless March 1".
0:16-0:17 Back and forth shot - we first see the Public Safety Alert (with a jarring alert ringtone), then the video cuts to the group's concerned reaction, then back to the Public Safety Alert. Almost as if they cannot believe what they're seeing. Note also that the second shot of the Public Safety Alert is clearer than the first - they're paying more attention the second time around.
0:18 Cut to awkward Zoom call (with dog!).
0:19 Intro to main protagonist Yeonjun. Interesting styling choices here - Yeonjun doesn't himself have tattoos; these are fake tattoos. I see this as an effort to represent every kind of young person - it's not only the studious, clean-cut kids who choose to stay home. Now, even the stereotypical bad boys who would usually stay out are forced to stay home as well (that is, if they choose to be socially responsible).
Yeonjun is also putting on a simple singlet here. This is a clear departure from his school uniform. He's chosen to dress comfortably and looks disappointed. Perhaps he feels that nothing matters at this point. This will be a recurring theme throughout the video.
0:24 He gets up to hug his teddy bear, likely a source of comfort. He appears to be alone. Maybe the teddy bear is his only companion when he's at home. A stark contrast to the beginning of the video, when he had a squad of friends to hang out with.
0:26-0:27 Yeonjun starts to dress up for the Zoom call with his friends later. He seems to be in a much better mood with this semblance of normalcy. Or maybe he's just practicing his smile for the camera. His room is bright despite the blinds being drawn; it's the morning.
0:28 We realise that Yeonjun was smiling in the mirror. His expression changes as soon as he looks away. He's not happy about the situation; guess he's just practicing his smile for later.
0:31 The squad's coming online, just waiting for Yeonjun. Everyone is dressed up in bright colours, against their very bright and cheerily-coloured rooms. Juxtaposed with the rather dull school outfits and blue walls at the beginning of the video.
0:33-0:36 For the first time since being at home, he appears to be truly excited. He waves enthusiastically at the squad. Interestingly, his curtains are drawn and the only source of light is a neon green light in the corner of his room. It's unclear what time it is.
0:39 Classic eyes closed, close-up shot of Kai's face. Sadness. Slight increase in exposure near the end of the shot - reminiscence of a time when the surroundings were brighter.
0:41 Flashback to old times in school with the squad. The setting is brightly-lit. We'll see that this changes as the MV progresses.
0:47 Sharing earphones. Ah, the good times.
0:52 Taehyun throws a baseball across the open area. Something you won't get to do inside unless you want to break something.
0:54 Cut to Soobin lying down on the floor of his room (peak relaxing position tbh). He's just dropped his phone on his face. First world problems. Sucks that even little things like this will happen more often now that they're home alone with their phones being their only connection to the outside world.
0:56 Guess Soobin is trying to preoccupy himself by putting together a (big, may I add) puzzle. Seems like he also tried to distract himself with whack-a-mole. But he can't help but watch old videos of him and his friends - this is marked by the school uniforms. Again, reminiscing the old times.
0:58 Closer look at the video Soobin is watching.
1:00 Dude fell asleep with a puzzle piece on his face omg. Clearly bored/frustrated/tired of being stuck at home with puzzles being the most interesting thing he could possibly do alone.
1:01 Yeah, he's not happy about it.
1:03-1:08 Beomgyu is at home with his dog. I can't tell much other than that his dog doesn't hate him, which is a good thing when your dog is your closest companion at home.
1:09-1:12 I can't think of this shot of them syncing the choreo over Zoom being anything other than a cool way to transition to the dance and juxtapose with them performing the choreography together (see: 1:13~1:19).
1:20 Jamming out to the song together.
1:21, 1:24, 1:25, 1:27, 1:28: Yeonjun jamming out alone.
1:31 It's raining/snowing...
1:32 In their hideout in school (remember it's only partially covered). Also note that the colour scheme in the school setting has gotten much duller than before.
1:34 Taehyun catches a baseball. Note that he isn't in his school uniform, so we can assume he is alone here while everyone else is staying in.
1:35, 1:38, The squad escapes the rain.
1:40 Yeonjun admiring his image in the mirror while trying on a different jacket. Compare this and the previous images of him looking into the mirror, with a later shot of him looking into a mirror. Here, we can see both him and his reflection, which gives us the impression that he isn't alone.
1:44 Beomgyu is on the floor hugging his dog. Maybe he's given up lol
1:46 Beomgyu opened the blinds a little to look outside. "Want to see you again."
1:48, 1:50 I'm not sure what Kai was trying to do, but he definitely messed up that smiley face. Seems like an allusion to how everything was fine and dandy, but then this virus just had to come and ruin it for everyone.
1:51 Seems like Taehyun is playing baseball with himself.
1:56, 1:59 Repetitions show that Taehyun is going through the motions. Has nothing better to do.
2:03, 2:07 These shots confused me at first, but "I hate my face drained of expression" clears it up. Communicating online has reduced us to avatars, profile pictures and our digital versions of ourselves. A pretty digital avatar void of human emotion - that's what Soobin has become.
2:13 Beomgyu seems pretty happy creating his personal Jurassic Park...
2:15 But yeah, there could've been better things to do.
2:16 I know Beomgyu is creating an obstacle course for his dog, but his constantly changing environment (e.g. additional bowling pins in this frame) makes it seem like he's trying every possible trick in the book to occupy himself while he's alone.
2:22 Again, the introduction of Beomgyu's dog makes it seem like he's exhausting all his sources of entertainment. I'm not complaining though, it's cute to see him try.
2:25-2:26 The transition to a wide shot showing that Beomgyu's dog is leashed indoors is jarring when you think twice about it. There's no reason to leash his dog when they're indoors, but maybe he's trying to simulate being outside.
2:28 From here onwards is where the structure of the MV changes. Before this, we'd been getting shots of TXT at home interspersed with flashbacks of their time together pre-COVID. But now they're out on a large, empty road on a bright day. They would not be dancing on such a wide road if it weren't empty because no one needs/wants/is allowed to go anywhere. Also note that these are different outfits from previous cuts of them dancing, where they were dressed in their school uniforms.
2:31 Taehyun pastes a sticker of pixel ver. squad on his drone. Perhaps highlighting the fact that the only reminder he has of them while they're separated is their online presence.
2:33 Taehyun is wearing a helmet to fly his drone even though he doesn't really need to. It's not like he's travelling outside or anything. But anything to escape the feeling of being stuck at home, I guess. You do you. Also, the fact that he's flying a drone is symbolic of his wish to travel or at least wander outside. He can't do it in person, so he lets his drone do it for him.
2:33 The squad arrives on the rooftop! Note that Yeonjun is wearing the jacket he tried on the second time - this is still during COVID times. How were they able to get on the rooftop with Taehyun when they were all supposed to be at home? REBELS. Maybe this is all just a dream... unless? Last thing - it's sunset here, which links to...
2:47 It's snowing and dark outside in their usual hideout in school. Note that Yeonjun is wearing the same outfit as in the dancing on the road cuts. Clear juxtaposition between hopes and reality.
2:48 Their bench and things are covered in snow, almost as if the winter has stopped them from doing whatever they were doing before. "Endless winter."
2:53, 2:57 They're taking photos alone. Interesting upside-down shots.
2:55 They're trying to have fun in the winter but for Beomgyu it's just not the same.
3:00 The brightly-lit toilet is juxtaposed with - gasp! - not its reflection. Without his friends, Yeonjun perhaps finds that staring into a mirror alone isi like staring into a dark void, or a duller version of reality.
3:02 Also, it's snowing on the other side. Note that in all the 'winter' shots we've been getting, it's always dark.
3:09 Is Yeonjun trying to check if there's a mirror, or reach into the void?
3:11 We get confirmation that there is a mirror in reality, but to Yeonjun it feels like a void. This image of him telling his reflection that "it's all gone" is honestly heartbreaking.
3:14 The squad is together, but the winter is depressing.
3:20 The most direct reference to COVID in this entire MV. "It's all gone". The masks serve as a tangible representation of the new normal. Their expressions are all gone now ("I hate my face drained of expression") since half their faces are hidden. It no longer matters if they smile or laugh; no one can see it anyway.
3:21-3:25 Direct reference to social distancing.
3:25 The toilet gets progressively darker.
3:36 It's snowing on the road now, almost as if the bleakness of their reality has permeated through to their imagination of a brighter future.
3:39 Interestingly, compared to the past few shots of the boys in the dark winter, they seem to be slightly happier here, getting used to the new normal.
3:40 Butterfly on Beomgyu's face a representation of summer.
3:46 Cut to someone's phone on the bench, the only thing that hasn't been covered in snow, the only bright thing in the darkness. Looks like this is the last video they filmed while they were out on the road dancing.
Overall, it seems that:
bathroom, bright school hideout scenes = the past
road scene = last time they were able to see each other, transition period OR a time between strict quarantine and "new normal" where cases were low enough that people felt comfortable going outside
home scenes = quarantine period
winter scenes = new normal
Buried At Sea
(POV Gwen)
It has been a while since I have been to Johto. I need to remember the last thing I did here. Floyd took me out to Olivine’s red light district in order to celebrate after we disposed of someone for Haines. What was the story about the guy we offed? Who cares. Haines wanted him gone so he probably knew some information she wanted kept secret.
“’ello Gwen. You have changed since I last saw you.” The sound was coming from in front of me. An octillery made his way towards me. It’s so weird being tall than most mons now. “Sorry it is under these bad conditions.”
This Octillery is one of Floyd’s friends via business, Lister. From what Floyd told me this mon got him his scope and has served as a body disposal guy for close to a decade. We never talked often, usually Floyd would try to weave me into conversations those two had.
“Well I know that look on your face means you want to get this over with, so I will hoist Floyd up onto the boat.” Lister was always good at reading the room. Saved me from trouble when Floyd was not trying to stop me.
Time is as good as any to show how much I have grown.
I form a two layer force field around Floyd. The first to carry his body, and the second to make sure the tarp stays on. Lister looks like he just saw Lugia blow a load into the sky. Maybe it is likely that he expected me not to help, but come on; a psychic type uses telekinesis to lift something. Wait until he sees what a flying type can do.
“Oh. Alright I’ll show you where to place him on the boat.”
Floyd told me an interesting tidbit during one of our conversations.
Hey Floyd. You know I was wondering. What do you want done to your body when you die?
I was having a normal one for sure. I still remember he gave me a judgemental look. Thankfully I managed to not look like a psycho.
I mean. Given our line of work, there could be a chance we would perish.
Oh. Well I’d like to be dumped in the deepest parts of the Whirl Islands. Right in a whirlpool if possible.
Why?
I want to wash up in Lugia’s cave and have it be confused. Plus I grew up going between both Olivine and Cianwood so I guess I just want to be dumped in the place I spent a lot of time at and become fish food...but mostly I want to possibly surprise a Lugia.
Heh. That’s still funny even to this day. Floyd was probably the closest mon I had to a dad. I still like to think on the training days.
Ow! What the shit was that?
We will spar with these rubber pellets. Think of it as paintball. Without the T.
I cannot channel electricity through this. It’s made of rubber!
I’m impressed you know that for having zero education. Guess you will have to learn how to project those with somethin-
It was because of that I learned I could channel signal beam energy for projectiles to push it. I even named them punch beams.
Augh you little snot!
You chose rubber bullets so I wouldn’t use electric attacks didn’t you?!
Maybe. But you have adapted well. Can you keep that-
Floyd was pissed that I shot him again before he could finish his lecture. I still remembered he punished me by making me buy my own drink at the bar that night.
Nice shooting! They didn’t know what hit them! Your drink is on me tonight!
Oh thanks! I have a...good teacher!
Kissing ass does not get you two drinks.
He still gave me two drinks that night. I thought it was to stop me from complaining but maybe he did it to be nice. Floyd could be nice from time to time.
Why am I being so sentimental now? I really hope I am not getting soft now. That reminds me after Nigel and I had a our falling out he managed to calm me down.
You know there are better ways to vent out your anger other than pointlessly shooting at trees right?
I cannot believe I spent all that time with that mother fucker Nigel! I wasted my whole life with a racist, pokemon trafficking scumbag!
Whole life? You met him in juvie right? That would be, what two years and some change? That’s less than a whole life.
Still. I spent way too much of my time and opened myself up to that asshole!
Yeah Nigel is something else. Honestly in terms of first boyfriends go, he was a bad first.
To this day I still remember the face he made after he said that to my face. Old man looked like he wanted to backpedal as far back as possible. I do remember I was about to shoot him for that.
But hey everyone makes a bad first call trust me. If we had time I could give a list of women I regret having any romantic flings with.
To this day I question how truthful he was with that. I know he has had some flings, but I still doubts he was drowning in ladies like he claimed he was.
I think you should stop shooting those trees. You are going to knock down the whole forest if you don’t calm down.
But shooting something makes me feel better!
Gwen. I know this is going to sound weird coming from me, but you need to learn how to calm down. Don’t be so hard all the time. All that will do is make you do stupid things and given our line of work you will die way sooner.
He was not wrong either. Most things that used to make me angry just brush off me at this point.
Okay not everything. I’m still a work in progress but I’m better than I was when I was younger. Floyd did his best to help with that. In his own way.
“‘We’re here.”
Oh! I zoned out.  As soon as Lister snapped me out,  I felt the boat being jerked around by a whirlpool but we still managed to pass under the arch into one of the cave entrances. Weather has always babbled on how the Isles and the entrance into the deeper cave were a lot bigger in person than in photos.
Maybe he wasn’t talking bullshit.
Once we were in the cave, I saw and heard the waterfall and man it was massive. Even though we were too far away to see I could imagine the drop was high.
“This will be as close as we can get to the falls.” Lister knows better than me the strength of the current and I’m not going to argue with him on that. “Did you want me to hoist him into the water with the crane or were you going to use your telepathy?”
“Would you be okay if I used my telekinisis?”
The octillery did what I would call the closest thing to a nod. He pulled off the tarp and I see Floyd one last time. I have to commend that the mortician was able to reconstruct his head given how he died.
Lifting him up, I take a moment to look at Floyd one last time.
Hey Floyd.
Hmm. What is it?
Why did you take me in as an apprentice?
I’m surprised it took you two years to ask that. Well honestly, I heard about your record. I figured I would at least stop you from going postal by basically teaching you the ins-and outs of assassination.
So it was basically to leash me?!
Well...when you put it that way yeah.
Oh… Was I that bad?
That silence was probably one of the few times I felt shame. It was an eye opening moment for me.
Sorry. Should have been straight with you from the start.
Honestly I’m not mad. Looking back I’m just ashamed at how aimless I was.
You have improved. You aren’t perfect, but honestly you have come a long way. So just keep yourself sharp and try to not be on edge 24/7.
I need a motivator to give me a fighting edge.
Trust me. Being hard all the time will just lead to an early grave, and with few friends. Having some nice moments will help others from time to time.
Cave’s moisture must be finally getting to me. I can feel some on my eye. It could mess with me as I lay him down. My stomach feels like a hole is forming in it as I see Floyd’s body slowly drift towards the edge of the falls.
It is ok to show emotions and not push others away.
I’m crying. This is the first time I have cried in years. Hopefully this is the last time
Seventh Heaven
Pairing: Liam x MC
Word Count: 2,050
Summary: The Cordonian Royal Family enjoys a rare day off. So. much. fluff.
Note: If you’re familiar with my Liam x Eliza stories, you've probably guessed that this follows the little series that started with “Three Questions.” Although this can be read on its own, all previous works can be accessed through my masterlist.
This story was written as part of my 150 Followers Celebration and fulfills kiss prompt #9 (Lying on someone’s chest and kissing their sternum).
Tumblr media
The coffee maker came to life with a series of pops, a puff of steam vanishing as it dispersed into the morning air. Eliza inhaled the first scent of roasted beans and turned her attention to the kitchen’s other occupant.
Henry’s short claws clicked against the tile floor, each step toward her insisting that his breakfast was past due. She gave into the corgi’s demands, stroking the fluff between his ears as his mouth vanished into the full bowl. Replacing the dog food in the cupboard, she continued preparations for her own breakfast.
She’d just opened the cabinet to snag a pair of mugs when Liam’s voice came from the doorway.
“Good morning.”
Eliza turned to see her not just her husband, but their infant son as well. “Good morning to my boys,” she greeted, a warm smile blooming across her face.  Gregory returned her affection with a gummy smile of his own, legs bouncing when she kissed his downy wisps of hair.
“And you can have a kiss too,” she offered, noting her husband’s expectant look.
“Just one?”
Eliza’s eyes narrowed playfully. “For now.”
“I’ll look forward to later then,” he promised. “Thanks for starting the coffee.”
“Of course. I’m as ready for caffeine as you are.”
After going without for so many months, she was inclined to never take her morning cup for granted again. Eliza found the creamer in the fridge and poured a generous serving into both mugs before filling them to the brim with the fresh brew.
“I’ll bring these to the living room,” she announced. “Gregory can have some tummy time while we get our coffee fix.”
Following them both out of the kitchen, she watched with amusement as Henry abandoned his breakfast in order to accompany them. The social creature had been thrilled to have her home so much lately, and even more thrilled by the new baby that was almost always with her. His tiny tail bobbed as Liam settled Gregory on the playmat.
“Do you think he feels any different?” Eliza wondered idly between sips of coffee.
“After the christening? I don’t think he even knew it was happening. He was asleep through most of it.” Liam set his still-full mug on the end table, dropping to his stomach to look his young son in the eyes.
Henry sniffed the leg of his pajamas curiously. The interest soon turned to confusion when Liam began a very expressive round of peekaboo. Eliza giggled into her mug.
“Enjoying your day off?”
“Very much so,” her husband replied, pulling another ridiculous face.
“Does it ever feel strange to you?”
Liam rolled over on his side to consider his wife. “What’s that?”
She scrunched her brow, shifting the coffee to her other hand in contemplation. “That while all of Cordonia is scrambling around for the exclusive first photo of the royal family, we’re just in our own world, drinking coffee and playing peekaboo?”
“It does sound strange when you put it like that. Ana said they’re anticipating record-breaking sales of Trend with this issue.”
“I’m sure.” Eliza resumed her coffee drinking. “Our baby is adorable.”
The child in question chose that moment to push up with both arms, lifting his head and chest with ease. If the grin on his face was any indication, their son was very proud of the progress he'd made.
“And he’s growing up much too fast.”
There was no debating that fact, Eliza thought. The child before her bore very little resemblance to the one who'd made the long drive back from Lythikos with them nearly four months before. In many ways, it felt as though they’d lived a lifetime in the weeks that had followed.
“And yet, you still haven’t played lullabies for him on your guitar.” It was a point that she returned to often, more out of habit than any real sense of disappointment. “Maybe it’s time to dust it off?” Henry’s ears perked at her rising intonation.
Liam sat up straight and retrieved his mug, taking a long, slow drink in deliberation. “I have such fond memories of my mother’s playing. I'm afraid mine would leave the opposite impression.”
"He'd love it. You know how closely he watches anything you do.”
"All the same, I don’t want to be the reason he hates music altogether."
“Excuses, excuses,” she muttered good naturedly around the rim of her mug.
Liam was clearing away the breakfast dishes when she returned from putting Gregory down for his first nap of the day. Instead of offering assistance, she stood and watched for several long moments. The tiny smirk at the corner of his mouth informed her that he was aware of her presence, though he remained quiet.
Rolling her lower lip between her teeth, Eliza wondered what the citizens of Cordonia would do if they knew how handsome their king was beyond closed doors. As well as he carried off formal attire, casual clothes brought out a completely different level of confidence -- a confidence that she found incredibly attractive.
There were many reasons why the two of them had agreed never to let the media into their royal apartments, but she’d be lying if she said that keeping her husband's gorgeous figure out of the press hadn't been one of her primary concerns.
Cordonia could have him in suits and kingly finery. She wanted him just like this: still sleep rumpled and completely at ease. This version of Liam was for their family. For her.
She shifted her weight, floor creaking under the change in posture. He looked up at the noise and met her eyes. “Lullabies for his afternoon nap, then?”
He shook his head at her pestering, rinsing the juice glasses before placing them in the dishwasher. The last of the dishes loaded, he shut the appliance door and stepped back to dry his hands on a towel. “Only if you don’t want him to fall asleep.”
“We could try it at playtime then. He’s always --”
Eliza’s breath caught as he turned to face her. Knowing her weaknesses fully, Liam trailed a hand through hair that somehow managed to look even better untidy from sleep than it did when combed and fully in order.
She suppressed the desire to touch him, opting instead for a coy smile. “So, husband. How should we spend the rest of our morning?”
Before the words had left her mouth, he'd already taken a step toward her, eliminating the inches of distance that had been between them. “I’ve got some ideas,” he assured, sliding his arms around her waist as he leaned down to press a series of kisses to her jawline.
“Do you?” She challenged, her body suddenly feeling flushed. Liam slipped a roaming hand beneath her thin camisole, hands raising fire in her skin. Without hesitation, she pulled forward, instinct guiding her hips to his. With a responding groan, he finally met her lips.
Liam broke the kiss to flash her a mischievous smile. “I always have ideas where you’re concerned, my queen. Shall I show you?”
The gleam of desire in her eyes was answer enough.
_______________________________________________________________________
“We really need to start making use of the nanny.”
Eliza rolled toward him on the bed, wantonly draping a leg over his waist. “Whatever happened to wanting to be normal parents?”
“You happened,” he answered vaguely. “And I find you very hard to resist.” His fingers drifted to her hair, combing through the long strands that fell over her shoulders. “Besides, it’s not unusual for normal parents to hire a babysitter so that they can spend time together.”
“True.”
Liam continued stroking her hair and her eyelids grew heavy at the soothing motion. Lying on his naked chest, she could almost drift back to sleep...
Her eyes flickered open at his sudden intake of breath.
“You know, I used to doubt that this was possible.”
“Hmm?” She changed positions, tilting her face to read his eyes. Brilliant and blue, they were trained on her solemnly.
“For my life to be like this.”
Eliza traced the planes of his chest thoughtfully, fingers dipping into the gentle slope of his ribcage. “So did I.”
Yesterday had been a hurdle she hadn’t really wanted to face: their first official event since having the baby. Some part of her had worried for months that it would change everything -- that introducing Gregory to the outside world would destroy whatever life they’d started for themselves within the palace. But her fears had been unfounded.
Relief and love came to her in a sudden surge, and she skimmed her lips over Liam’s sternum. Landing just below his throat, she pressed a slow kiss to his warm skin.
“But then, you always have had a way of turning all my dreams into realities.”
Eliza pushed herself up for a proper kiss. No matter how often he told her such things, her heart still overflowed every time. “I love you, Liam.”
His response was curtailed by a rustling from the baby monitor.
“There’s that reality we were talking about,” she bantered with an easy smile.
“I’ll go get him,” Liam assured as their son’s cries became audible. While he padded through the hall, she became aware of another noise coming from the front door. Henry.
Eliza threw on a pair of sweatpants and forced herself to put on a bra for the first time that day. Their exit was relatively private, but she still favored caution.
“I’m taking Henry out. We’ll be back shortly,” she called over her shoulder before clipping on the dog’s leash.
When they returned several minutes later, it was to find that not only an unfamiliar sight, but an unusual sound awaited them.
Her husband sat with his mother’s guitar, Gregory propped up at the corner of the couch and supported by a bevy of pillows. As she’d predicted, the baby was enthralled with his father’s movements, though the noise they produced was little more than a slow series of chords.
“It isn’t quite a lullaby...” Liam explained, half distracted.
“But it’s still very sweet,” she finished for him.
He allowed the strain of music to fade. “I think he likes listening, anyway.” Liam started in a new key, smile giving way to a look of genuine effort as he bent the strings to his will. “Let’s see how this one goes.”
The ensuing chord wasn’t terrible, but Eliza’s trained ear picked up on the problem at once. When he strummed the again -- this time with minor adjustments -- Henry howled in accompaniment.
Shock registered on her husband’s face, his hands faltering as the dog continued to whine with every sound that came from the guitar. When he paused, Henry fell quiet for several seconds. Eyeing the dog tentatively, Liam plucked the strings once more.
The howling resumed.
Gregory’s features broke into a smile, and Eliza could no longer stifle her laughter.
“That isn’t polite, Henry,” Liam chided, stretching a hand down to pat the dog’s head. His sparkling eyes flitted up to hers. “We really should teach him better manners.”
“Be my guest.”
“But I suppose he’s right. I’m not very good, am I?” The question wasn’t directed toward anyone in particular.
Eliza took the happy baby in her arms, making a mental note to look into guitar lessons. “It’s nothing that couldn’t be solved with some practice.”
“Perhaps you’re right.” He set aside the guitar and stood to join them. “You usually are.”
She leaned into the kiss he pressed to her forehead, then shifted Gregory to rest on her hip. “You know, the clouds have cleared off and it’s gotten to be a lovely day. Maybe we should plan to have a picnic lunch?”
“That sounds like a wonderful idea.” Liam turned his attention back to the instrument, carefully packing it in its case before leaving the room to return it to his closet.
Cheek resting against Gregory’s fine hair, Eliza fell to musing. No matter what happened in the outer world, their family was her haven. As long as there was a promise of days such as this one, she could rest in complete and utter contentment.
“But maybe we’ll let your daddy stick to singing at nap time,” she considered, bouncing the baby gently. “At least for now.”
Dog Days of Summer- Ch 3
Tumblr media
Dog Days of Summer- Chris Evans X plus sized reader. Dog days of summer are usually defined as the hottest of the year, some define it as lazy days. This year ‘hottest’ has nothing to do with the outside temp. You meet Chris and Dodger Evans while taking your own dog to the park.
Previous Chapter / Master List
Warnings: Cursing, and fluff
Chapter 3
You wake up in the morning with this tightness in your stomach, something akin to if excitement, anxiety and elation had a baby. Did you dream it? Did Chris Evans actually give you his phone number? Throwing over the covers, you look to your bedside table to see the little note sticking out under your phone.
The squeal that comes out of you startles Popcorn, who has been happily sleeping at the end of the bed. Bouncing your butt up and down in joy, also disturbs him, but you don’t care. You have Chris Evans’ phone number and nothing can stop the pure bliss that shines from your chest today.
You squeal for a few more minutes until you can actually calm down enough to unlock your phone. Last night you already made a contact for him, putting a picture of Dodger as his contact photo and Dodger’s Dad as contact name. Clicking on the little message icon button, you stare at the empty text line for what feels like forever. Should you just go with a simple ‘Morning!’? Or maybe a joke? You didn’t know what his plans are for today so you don’t want to ask him out for breakfast if he’s busy. Should you even ask him to meet up at all? Maybe it would be best if he was the one to offer that, you didn’t want to seem clingy.
Deciding on a combination of the first two, you sent out a text and picture.
“Mornin’! Popcorn has been so excited this morning. He actually moved from the end of the bed to the floor!”
You attach a picture of Popcorn on his back, with his legs up in the air, on the carpet of your bedroom. Angling it just so none of the clothing on the floor shows up to ruin the pic.
Holding the little device you wait. It’s earlier than you normally get up, around 10am, and you had told him it would be lunch when you texted. Not wanting to seem too eager you put the phone down and went to do your normal morning routine. Bathroom, coffee, breakfast bar, breakfast for the dog, and brushing your teeth before you finally go back to pick up your phone. It said his reply came back five minutes before.
“Something good must have happened yesterday because Dodger has also been excited all morning.”
He also attached a pic of Dodger, sitting on a couch with his tongue hanging out.
“Cute!” You text back.
“All my fangirls seem to think so. Unless you meant Dodger, because yes he is very cute.” Winky face emoji.
“I did in fact mean the dog. Although, you’re not gross I guess.”
“Ah yes, right in my wheelhouse. Being ‘not gross’, it’s my specialty.” You giggle at his insistence he’s not in fact godly looking. “You free today? Want to go do something?”
“I’m not free, but for you I could work up a discount.” Winky, tongue out face emoji. “For serious, I got nothing but time today. The only thing on my agenda was to maybe go to the grocery store. Something tells me food is important for survival.”
“You shouldn’t sell yourself short. I’d pay full price for your crazy.” Your heart pounded reading his text. That can’t be what it seems like he means. You read on. “How about you come out for lunch with me, for once sans dogs? I’ve got some things I gotta pick up too, so we can do that after.”
“*Sigh* I guess, but really it was Dodger that was keeping me in this relationship. You’re gonna have to pick up your cuteness game without him.”
“What’s got my baby brother smiling like a loon so early this morning?” His sister, who’s couch he was currently sitting on, asked him.
“Huh?” He tears his eyes away from his phone and looks up at her. “Oh, um nothing just making plans for lunch this afternoon.” Looking back to his phone as another message from you comes in.
His sister smirks. “Girl?”
“No! I mean yes, she’s a girl, but not like that.” He types in that he will meet you at your place in an hour.
“Might want to tell that to your face.” She calls over her shoulder, walking out of the living room.
Throwing the phone to the bed, you rush around like a mad woman, throwing clothes out of your closet and trying to get ready. Popcorn watches the chaos from the floor, seemingly unaffected, even when he was in the way and you had to step over him.
“Ok buddy, what do you think?” Your dog seems unimpressed with your selection, but you think you look quite nice. Little more dressed up than usual but nothing over the top. “Alright, we got to take you to the bathroom before Chris gets here. Up, up!”
Popcorn moves then, prancing over to the door while you get his harness, leash and doggy bags. A quick walk to the corner, where there is a tree and grass, you come back to find Chris leaning up on the stair guardrail, one leg over the other at the ankle, arms crossed, sunglasses perched on his nose. There is no way you would ever get use to him just showing up, with the express purpose of seeing you. The thin navy sweater and jeans combo is a very good look on him.
Glancing at your phone, you see he’s ten minutes early. “Hey, sorry I had to take Popcorn out before we left.”
He looks up at your voice. “I figured that might be the case. Sorry I got here a bit early.”
“It’s cool.” You shrug as you walk past him and you can smell his cologne, which makes you slip on a step. He reaches out to steady you, his warm hands on your shoulders.
“Thought you weren’t a day drinker?” He asks, very close to your ear.
“Ha, ha. These shoes just don’t have any traction is all.” You take a step up and away from him, his hands still held out in case you come tumbling back again. “I’ve got to take him up and get him settled if you want to come up too?”
“Sure. You seem to be clumsy today. I’m not going to be responsible for you breaking your neck.” He walks into the building lobby behind you, closing the door.
“It’s an elevator, I think I’m good.” Pressing on the button to call it back down.
“If I hadn’t been there, you’d be laid out on the sidewalk.” The elevator doors open and you both step in.
“If you hadn’t been there, it wouldn’t have happened.” You counter, realizing your mistake after.
“So it’s my fault? How is it my fault?” He takes his sunglasses off, hanging them from his shirt collar to get a better look at you. The doors close and now you are trapped with a curious Chris and your brain draws a blank on how to get out of it. You say nothing and just shrug, but Chris presses you.
“You smelled too good and I lost my footing. So it is your fault and I think I’m owed an apology.” Turning to him to face the truth headon, raising an eyebrow expectantly at him.
He lifts his hands in front of him. “Fine, I’m sorry, I’ve learned by lesson. From now on, when we hang out I’ll be sure to not shower after my workout. Stink up the joint.”
You let out a long dragged out sigh, going to your door as the elevator opens. “That won’t work either. Guess I’ll just have to put up with...this.” Your arm waving over him as you stop to unlock your apartment.
“Well shucks ma’am, that’s awfully kind of you.” He puts on his best southern drawl.
“Now don’t start that or you’ll get my heart all twitterpated.” You mimic him, with your own southern accent.
He breaks and laughs as he comes into your apartment, watching you take off Popcorns leash and harness, depositing a little baggy in the trash.
“So where are we going anyway?” You ask over your shoulder as you wash your hands in the kitchen sink.
“I dunno. What are you in the mood for?” He flips through some of your magazines on the coffee table. “There’s lots of options around here. I know of an italian place, or a little pub up the street, they have great bar food. A taco truck parks a few blocks down usually around this time too.”
You shrug and dry your hands off on a towel. “I’ll eat pretty much anything. Thought you would have a place already picked out when you invited me.”
Chris pulls out his phone. “I hadn’t had the taco truck in a while. Everyone seems to be above eating on the curb.”
“No worries there. I love tacos so I’ll eat them just about anywhere.”
“And we are in luck, their facebook says the truck is close.”
“Let’s boogie then!”
The two of you go out and back into the elevator. Once the doors close he slides up close to you, leaning his arms on the back railing. The cologne smell is stronger than ever in the small little box.
“You’re doing this on purpose.” You accuse, side eyeing him.
He pulls his sunglasses off the collar of his sweater and puts them back on. “I have no idea what you are talking about.” Playing innocent.
:”That’s ok, stand as close as you want to, because soon I’ll get use to it and won’t smell it anymore.” You smirk up at him.
He chuckles and the doors open. You step out as soon as they do, getting out to the sidewalk for some fresh air. Your heart going a million miles an hour despite your outside calm. “Ok now which way?”
He’s got his phone out, looking at the map app. “Uh...this way.” And he takes the lead, following the little grid on his phone. It’s not long before you see the promised land. Shiny silver truck with a line formed down the sidewalk.
The two of you take your places at the back of the line to wait your turn. It was surprising that hardly anyone gave Chris a second glance. Maybe you were the weirdo mega fan that could spot him anywhere?
Neither of you felt the need to clutter up the air with talk, it felt comfortable as you looked at the little whiteboard menu on the side of the truck. It all looked amazing and you still hadn’t decided by the time you go to the window. You tell Chris you can’t decide between two and he settles it by ordering both along with his food, paying for everything before you can even get your wallet out.
“Thanks for lunch!” You smile at him. His heart does another little flip and all he can manage is a nod.
Taking the food, the two of you go sit on a nearby stoop, digging into the little paper trays.
The moan you make on the first bite is sinful and he shifts uncomfortably. “That sounds like you like it.” He comments before taking a bite of his own.
“Yes! A million times yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Bouncing happily on the concrete step.
“Calm down, you’re going to choke.” He laughs.
“Can’t calm down, I’m in my happy taco place.”
He snorts. “I don’t think they are going out of business anytime soon. Go on your facebook and follow them for when you need another fix.”
Bending down to take another bite, you say absentmindedly. “I don’t have a facebook.”
“Everyone has a facebook. I’m like 10 years older than you and I have a facebook.”
That makes you almost choke on your food. “Wow best day ever! I get to have tacos with you AND you think I was born in the 90s.”
He looked surprised. “You weren’t?”
“Nope, 80s baby, but I’m not as old as you, old man.” You wink at him.
His brain has to shift around this new information as he finishes his food. When you wouldn’t tell him your age he just assumed you to be a lot younger, you could definitely pass for mid 20s easy. Not to mention your energetic attitude. He has a soft smile on his lips as he watches you finish eating, and idly wonders how no one has scooped you up yet. The guy who let you go seemed to be an idiot to him.
“Oh man, I’m stuffed. I don’t think I should have finished both of those.”
“We’ll go walk around a bit. See if we can’t work some of it off.” He stands up, wiping his hands on his jeans and reaching a hand to help you up.
You didn’t figure he would actually pull you up, letting you stand up on your own, just using him for balance, but that’s not what happened. He tugged and you surprisingly came up quickly, stumbling a little into him. Your free hand on his chest and his on your hip to steady you.
“See, clumsy today.” He chuckles.
“I didn’t expect you to pull me up.” “Why?” His brows furrow. “That’s kind of what you do when you help someone up.”
“Guess I’m not use to such gallant behavior then.” You play it off laughing, stepping away from him. The frown on his face not going away immediately. “So where do you want to go?”
Chris shakes away the negative thoughts and looks at your smile. “You said you hadn’t explored the neighborhood. Why don’t we just walk around a bit? I’ll show you some of my favorite spots.”
You nod and he directs you where to go, keeping pace with your slower steps. Showing you around apparently means pointing out his favorite places to eat, along with a cute bookshop and pet store, which is definitely overpriced. You’ll be googling for a petsmart or using amazon if you need anything.
The conversation flows easily and you’re reminded again how much you enjoy his presence. He’s funny, smart, passionate and completely down to earth. If you hadn’t been a fan before now,  you would never guess he was a famous actor. While he said he liked his privacy, there were a few times on your little walk that he was stopped and asked for a picture, or autograph. Each time looking at you apologetically before doing as they ask with a smile on his face, making sure their experience is great.
Standing at the side as he finishes up with a little boy, that had practically dragged his mom across the street with a shout of “Captain America!”, he looks to you again and mouths another sorry in your direction. Once he’s done you can’t hold it in anymore. “Will you stop apologizing?” You tell him with a laugh.
“I can’t help it, I feel bad.”
“Don’t. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for them and you make each of them feel special. We’re not in a hurry and nowhere to be. You don’t have to apologize for that with me, I understand.”
His cheeks go a little pink at the complement and he rubs the back of his neck. The two of you continue on, eventually leading back in front of your building. “So you got a little more of a grasp of the neighborhood?”
“Nope not at all.” You tell him cheerfully.
“We just walked around for an hour, how do you forget that quickly?”
“I’m terrible with directions.” You tilt your head. “Did I forget to mention that to you? See now I know there is pub and what it looks like, but no clue where we were at or how it relates to my apartment. I wanted to take pictures of all the names of places you showed me, but you said it would be too suspicious. Now I can’t even look them up.” You shrug.
He lets out a great sigh, putting his hands on his hips. “I guess that means I’m just going to have to come back everyday to take you to lunch until you can learn where everything is.”
“That is one option, or I could just starve.”
“We wouldn’t want that.” He shakes his head.
“Crap!” You shout suddenly.
“What?!” He looks at you worried as you let out a groan.
“I completely forgot I had to go to the store.”
He laughs at your ridiculous behavior. “Can’t you just do that now? Or what about tomorrow? We’ll make a plan to go get some quick lunch and go to the grocery store.”
“You know you are much too reasonable and logical.” You tell him, placated for the moment.
“Yes that was what I was known for in school, reasonable and logical.”
“I thought you were a troublemaker?” You eyed him suspiciously.
“The rumors of my troublemaker ways are greatly exaggerated.”
“Uh-huh...along with your death apparently, Mr. Twain.”
“Good catch.” He chuckles. “I guess I better get going. Dodger will be missing me.”
“We wouldn’t want that.” You look up into his eyes. Both of you seem to be hesitating. Do you hug him? Wave? You’ve never been in this predicament before. Settling on another wave like yesterday, you tell him you’ll see him tomorrow and retreat into your building.
Next Chapter
Next week will be another chapter of “I’m not her” and back and forth like that until I run out of something. My smut post did better then either of those two and not sure if I feel proud or sad about that lol.
Fictober Day 19
Yes I know! I’m late again. Family came in and gave me no time to write. So We’ve got a treat today! Two fics for the price of Three prompts!
Prompt number: 19
Fandom (AU if applicable): Uta No Prince Sama
Rating: G
Warnings/Tags: Mild cussing, A lot of fluff, Camus, Oc/ Reader
I had to help. I couldn't stand to see her like this. A normally clean room was now trashed. Fabric covered every surface and needles were in the wall. Sky was kneeling focused before kicking the stand away growling.
"Fuck this!!!" I sighed then before stepping in and getting her shoulders. God she was tense. Barely even eight am and she's already a mess.
"Come on."
"No. This is due tomorrow!"
"Tell them there's no way."
"Camus I can't!!! I've already had an extension!!"
"And you'll get another."
"Says who?"
"The one who will be wearing it." She rolled her eyes then and got free from my hands. She rose quickly taking off her needle holder and the measuring tape.
"Cam… this and three other pieces are due in the next week. I don't have time to take a break! I need to focus!"
"And yet you've pricked yourself how many times? And isn't your machine jammed?"
"Hence why I'm sewing it by hand." I pulled out my phone then.
"Then I'll make this easier on you."
"Who the hell are you calling?" I smiled then as I hit the number. She came over but I held out a hand.
"Camus. What's going on?"
"Your fashion designer. Her machine jammed and won't be fixed for another two days. She's been hand sewing for twelve hours."
"What!? SKY ARE YOU THERE!? ITS DAVID!" I put it on speaker then.
"He's holding me back so yes!"
"Why didn't you call sooner!?"
"Because I had it! He's been overprotective!"
"For a reason. No. Nat can do the cape. You've got to machine dew that material. It'll slide too much in a hand!"
"Yeah I noticed…. Fine. But the others…"
"Got pushed back. Take a damn break. I see you in the office tomorrow I will send you straight home."
"David!"
"You heard me. Now I've got to go." He hung up and I saw the shock in her eyes.
"You did not just do that."
"I believe I just did. Now do me a favor. Get dressed. I need help out in town today."
"Yeah ok…. Fine." She huffed a bit then brushing back her hair.
"You didn't have to do that."
"It's eight am, you're bleeding and screaming curses. Yes I did." I kissed her head then.
"My shower. Then we leave and get breakfast. I know a spot."
"Oh? And what about this favor?"
"After breakfast." She just laughed then and got some clothes before following me back to my room. I'd make sure her room got cleaned before she came back. I didn't want her to think about work at all today.
God what game did he think he was playing? That was a mean trick. Needed… but still mean. At least I got to see him. That's the important part. Going on two weeks without us spending any time together. I had honestly missed him. I walked out of his bathroom to find him on the phone.
"He does? Oh dear…. Yes I had planned on it anyway. Yes that's perfect. I'll be there around noon? Excellent. See you then." He hung up then and smiled.
"What's that smile about?"
"Hm? Just checking in on something. You'll find out soon. You ready?" I nodded sitting down in his favorite chair to pull my boots on.
"Yeah. Whats on the agenda?"
"Brunch. Then I've got a fitting for a new suit. It's casual wear so don't." I went to pout at him but he had that look. I huffed a bit then and nodded.
"Fair. Then?"
"Walk in the park. Why not? It's a gorgeous day. Plus I need to get my boy out." I stopped then.
"Your boy…?"
"Yes?"  I glanced to his desk then. I had a feeling who he was talking about. In the photo he always kept there of his queen, there was a gorgeous puppy on her knee. He had once told me his name was Alexander.
"Alex?"
"Alexander yes. Why?"
"... you're going to let me meet your puppy?" I looked up at him then. Camus was confused.
"Why not? I meant to have done it sooner but he fell ill. He's much better now…. You do like dogs right?"
"Like dogs?" I got up then and just beamed.
"I LOVE PUPPIES!" Camus laughed then and got my hand.
"Come then. Maybe meeting mine will help you relax." I nodded then wrapping my arm around his. He let me willingly as we headed out.
Brunch was honestly a lot of fun. I had never been to this cafe but the staff was kind and easily helped us find something to fit our cravings. He even got me a mimosa which was amazing. I could feel the knot in my chest relaxing the longer we sat there laughing and talking. He was perfectly relaxed and even gave a few young girls smiles as they glances over. He never did hide his appearance when out in town so everyone knew he was a member of Quartet Night. We kept it calm but he didn't hide us holding hands or him opening doors for me or pulling out my chair.
The fitting afterwards was at a small store. One you'd have to have a reservation to get into. They welcomed camus like an old friend and ushered us in. He was completely relaxed just talking with them all. I was gazing around seeing how many beautiful outfits were around. One caught my eye. Black skinny jeans, with a tight shirt with ripped shoulders with an ice blue heart in the middle. A leather jacket covered it all with a matching purse.
"You see something you like?" I jumped and looked up. Camus was giving me a questioning look but soon saw it.
"Oh… it's your style."
"Yes it kind of is." I smiled then.
"But we're here for you. Not me."
"On the contrary." I don't even get to give him an odd look before a lady is ushering me into a separate room. I can hear Camus chuckling before the door closed.
I wanted to surprise her. I could tell by looking at all of her closet, she had never had a tailored outfit to her body type. Well I wanted to fix that. She had done so much for me when it came to making me stage outfits and such. I let them do what they needed with me. I didn't fuss or argue, only offered suggestions on where a bit more space would be nice. They listened and soon had my order in. I went and sat by the window humming just watching and waiting.
Thirty minutes later, she came out. Hair tousled gently with light lip gloss as well, she was wearing the outfit we saw. Her boots matched perfectly and had even been shined. She leaned on the doorframe watching me smirking.
"So did you do this on purpose or spur of the moment?"
"On purpose. How does it feel?" She walked forward then and took a deep breath.
"It's weird… it fits. Like it's not too tight but it fits." She went in front of a mirror and checked out the side profile. Every curve she hid was there and I had to avert my eyes. I couldn't let her see me blush like that.
"I might need some more jeans like this… she gave me real pockets! Like my phone fits in these cam!" She turned then and showed me. I laughed a bit as she kept sliding it in and out.
"Damn… ya know I might need to do this to all my jeans."
"Wouldn't be a bad idea. You carry a lot of things after all." She shrugged then as I shook my head. She was a wonder, that was for sure. The owner came out then with a smile and my new coat. Only a minor altercation was needed.
"Try this on sir…. Oh my… is this your beauty?"
"Yes. Care to add hers on mine?"  Sky stopped then.
"What?" I smiled then as he walked away to do so as I slid on my new coat. I went up to her and gave her a gentle kiss.
"You look this good and you think I'd let you leave here without it?" She made a small sound then before kissing me back. I just smiled and let her. They had my information on file after all.
He was such a wonder. A tailored outfit. Just for me. I couldn't believe it. Yet here I was, wearing such a thing. She had even offered to change the heart color but I wouldn't let her. The blue matched camus's colors perfectly. Even now sitting down, it wasn't too tight or anything. Wrinkles didn't stay and the pants didn't ride up. I didn't even need a belt anymore. It was on more for style than purpose. Soon tho, we were at his apartment. I had been here before to drop something off but I never went in. I had just met him at the door before leaving. This time I got to come in.
"Don't worry about shoes, we'll be leaving soon." I nodded as I came in. It was all simple decoration but what I did see spoke of softness. A lot of icy blues and silvers on a dark grey couch. Colors of home I guess. Then I heard the claws on the floor.
"Alexander stop!" A white blur came out of a back room and tackled camus making him laugh. A young man stumbled out of the hall panting.
"Sorry sir!"
"Nonsense. He knew I was home. Didn't you boy?" This dog was big. On his back legs, he reached all the way to camus's chest! He was smiling like a goofball tho before sitting down. Camus knelt and rubbed his chin.
"You have been a good boy Alexander? Hm?" He whined then and almost seemed to nod. Camus nodded then and looked back.
"Come say hi." I stepped forward then and knelt next to camus offering my hand.
"Hi alexander…" He gave me a curious look before coming up and kissing my cheek. I yelped then before giggling and petting him.
"Oh god you're soft…. Such a soft baby…" Alex whined then and sat down nudging me for scratches on his head. I scratched him gently smiling.
"Such a baby…. Oh cam…" I moved closer then as he laid over so I can rub his belly. I laughed and did so happily.
"Dear lord, he likes you."
"Yeah. That's a big deal?" The young man standing in the hall chuckled then.
"Took me three weeks before he would let me rub his belly. He lets some of the band members pet him but nothing like this." I looked down at the dog and he just gave me a look of pure love. I sighed then.
"Maybe he just knows who to trust… dogs judge people on who treats their owner well as well." Camus chuckled then and kisses my head.
"Sounds like he knows how much I love you then. So… shall we go for a walk? That way you can see how he really is." Alex perked up then and soon ran to the door and nosed his leash. I laughed then getting up and got it free for him and locked it on his collar. He was wagging like mad with such a big smile.  Camus was a bit behind us but soon we were on our way to the park.
Alex was a dream. He was so well behaved. Even when a squirrel ran across the path, he just sniffed at it and kept walking. Sunset was slowing coming but we hardly noticed. We were just enjoying hanging out. Alex joined in sometimes with a bark or a small woof making us laugh before I leaned down to pet him. I could hardly remember why my shoulders and my chest had been hurting before today. The pricks on my fingers didn't even hurt anymore.
We stopped for ice cream right as the sun hit the horizon and got a few more laughs in as he tried to give me a spoonful or two. Alex had a pup cup and soon was dozing at our feet once his was gone. Sitting on a bench just watching the leaves dance in the wind, I couldn't help but hold Camus's hand and relax.
"Alright… I'll admit it…. You were right."
"Huh?" I smiled then.
"I did need this day off." He chuckled then.
"I know. Plus… I know dogs help at any point. I wish he could stay with us at the dorm.. but Shining said no." I pouted a bit then.
"Damn…. That would be awesome. I love dogs… and he's so well behaved!"
"I made sure he would be…. I love him so much… he's so smart as well."
"I've noticed. He listens very well." Alex looked up a bit then and I smiled at him.
"Yes you, you big pretty baby." He whined then moving closer before laying his head on my foot. I leaned down to pet him happily. Camus chuckled and did the same.
"We wore him out… better head home." I pouted then and Camus shook his head.
"I never said we were going back to shining. We have a weekend off for a reason." I perked up then and smiled.
"Does he cuddle?"
"As much as I do." I beamed then getting up. Alex followed and we headed home. I couldn't wait to be in the middle of that.
We had barely been home an hour. Sitting on the couch in pajamas, Her on my side and Alexander curled up by her feet. Her arm wrapped around mine with her eyes closed. An old show played on the tv giving a small amount of background noise as I got my phone out and got a quick photo. It was so rare to see her looking this peaceful. Alex looked up after the photo and I smiled.
"I'm glad you like her too boy." He whined then and nuzzled in. I just chuckled before sending it to the boys. I'd see their reactions in the morning. For now, I was just glad to stay here with my own little family.
