#none of that says bad at words or speaking like fanon thinks

one of the things that gets me about fanon lens - especially when you entrench yourself so much in a fan version of a character - is how a character can just slowly be stripped of what they are and who they are because of the self referential nature of fanworks (which isn't inherently bad, don't misunderstand; neglected characters can have new life breathed into them)
which is a long way of getting to: where did people get the idea that estinien's not one to talk, or is bad at effectively talking? I don't mean selectively mute hcs, i mean just very curt. like he's not as flowery as many of the scions or even compared to aymeric, but he's still dramatic and talks a lot. he's precise when he needs to be and extremely blunt, but just because of that doesn't mean he won't ramble
like his whole tangent about where he is today because of the wol right before the Dead Ends in Ultima Thule. his chattiness seems to fluctuate with how comfortable he is with someone, so i'm not really sure where "estinien's bad with words" came from?
he's no politician, but he's good at saying what needs to be said and saying it in a way that matters. yes, there is the whole aymeric thing but avoiding a difficult conversation rooted in guilt isn't the same as being bad at talking. he clearly knows how to get to people - especially to antagonize them into action (see: tiamat, azdaja) - so where did this come from?

Sukuna Ryomen HCs - Canon & Fanon!
CONTENT WARNINGS: Unbeta'd. None, for the first part - which may as well be a part character analysis of sorts along with hcs. Under the cut is when stuff gets weird. So minors and those uncomfy with anything remotely sexual don't click the "Keep Reading" and just scroll past! Will put another warning, tho, just in case.
Personally I LOVE Sukuna's true form, but these can be read as any of his forms (except for the tummy mouth stuff, haha).
Word Count: 1694
Tumblr media
Sukuna HCs - Canon Sukuna
1.) Aromantic, Asexual and sex repulsed or; Demiromantic, Asexual and sex repulsed. Listen. Has never done anything to Uraume (MY LOVE) - well, that we know of, anyway. Yorozu, beautiful, beautiful Yorozu, hugs him completely nakey; no reaction AT ALL. Kenny sleeps with his brother and it's "Kenjaku does the grosest things." Come on. 2.) Contrary to popular belief, I don't actually think he's super arrogant. He just STRONGLY believes that the weak should eat their suffering at the hands of the strong - and he's at the top of the food chain. All that smirking during the fights, talking down his opponents and just generally toying with them, completely lines up with his worldview. Even when he converses with Yorozu about her conditions for winning, he says that she can do whatever she wants with him because if he loses, that's "akin to death" and she proves herself stronger than him - again with the previous point. His worldview doesn't exclude himself just because he's been given the title of the strongest, unlike a lot of arrogant characters who think they're exempt from the rules they "follow". Sukuna seems to be…like a whole lot of neutral, as long as it lines up with his worldview. When it DOESN'T (ahem-his soul nephew-ahem), then he begin to lose it. 3.) Speaking of, he's obsessed with Jujutsu and honing his craft, having good food and a good fight - it's all he wants. Sukuna doesn't care where he stands at the food chain, he'll accept if there's an opponent stronger than him and die happy, and if it's weaker but puts up a good fight then he'll kill it and still be happy. He's living moment to moment, doing what makes him happy, poking at whatever interests him and living his life according to his values. (Sounds good on paper but ALSO just sounds like he's chasing the next "high" as long as it comes from an opponent that lines up with his beliefs). 4.) Is a wonderful artist and poet and, much like traditional Japanese painting (which is surprisingly close to Chinese painting), he prefers ink for his works and calligraphy, charcoal, too. He would have plenty of it back in the Heian era. 🙃 5.) UNWANTED. As a child he was unwanted, as a sorcerer nobody liked him or working with him (also because he was tricky to work with - essentially using the other sorcerers to get the upper hand in battle), curses tried to stay clear of him, and even when he was worshipped nobody wanted to do it - they only did it to get on his good graces or get something from him. Sukuna may have been a king, but he was an unwanted one, all the same - an unwanted king who sat in his empty temple. 6.) Views Jin as simply part of himself, because by Jujutsu standards that's the case - twins are considered one - and the Jujutsu world is heavily tied to his worldview. However, Jin himself is a completely different person; personality, physique and all. 7.) Hates modern food. Just…hates it. From the meat, to the veggies, to the spices, to the PEOPLE. It tastes SOOO BAD to him. Everything's become more abundant but at WHAT COST??? Quality of the food is out the window completely. Only Uraume can make something decent out of everything (leave it to our favorite chef). Because most animal meat was prohibited from consumption in the Heian era due to the influence of Buddhism (as far as I know), he had a lot of those to choose from back then. One of the dishes he did eat frequently, though, was Hishio with rice and some kind of meat (any he had access to at the time). 8.) Loves fighting because that's when his worldview IS a reality. It's only win or lose, the strong or the weak…AND THEN THERE'S YUUJI- 9.) Given the themes surrounding his character, and Yuuji's, actually, the quote by Alfred Lord Tennyson comes to mind; "Tis better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all." 10.) Generally doesn't like to be stared or looked at unless it's in a fight - he's had plenty of staring and hushed whispers back in the Heian era.
Sukuna HCs - Fanon Sukuna x Reader
These are not specified to be romantic or platonic, and can be read however you'd like. Reader's gender or sex is not specified.
1.) Expect stern, gentle and very QUIET comfort from this guy. Sukuna isn't one to coddle, and he might even be annoyed if you're crying. If he isn't wordlessly wiping your tears away, he'll be softly chastising you for crying over "someone so insignificant" or "a situation you can easily handle". He's not trying to belittle your problems, not at all - he recognizes your strong points, where they are, and he just truly KNOWS you can handle whatever it is you're facing. It's less "Stop being so dramatic, it's annoying." and more "What are you upset about? You can handle this easy…" 2.) Doesn't like grandeur displays of affection, it reminds him of all the (frankly fake) worship he recieved in the Heian era. He appreciates small and meaningful gestures SO MUCH more. Likewise, he also gives small and meaningful gestures to his favorite person; a poem, a painting, good food, letting your touch linger, letting you stare at him. Don't talk down on him or about him, though, and keep the teasing to a minimum; he does demand some level of respect. 💜 3.) As stated before, he's obsessed with Jujutsu and honing his craft, having good food and a good fight - it's all he wants. But then you come along and make days without that…somehow bearable? And then somehow he begins to seek out your company. And then somehow, he feels anxious and as if something's missing without it. 4.) The tummy mouth WILL purr, but it's more of a low and content growling than a cat or cheetah's purr. 5.) Sukuna doesn't like to be looked at, although your gaze doesn't bother him as much. However, he does NOT like it when your attention is on someone else when you're with him - even if you can't look - he needs to know your mind is ON HIM, still.
Alright you know the drill. Minors and anyone uncomfy with anything remotely sexual DNI further, and just scroll past this. Don't click the "Keep Reading" if you don't wanna see all the romantic or sex-y stuff, and just go on with your day furendo!
Tumblr media
Fanon Sukuna - Romantic & Explicit
⚠️Further Content Warnings:⚠️ Soft Sukuna, Sukuna fluff, Virgin!Sukuna, Whiny Sukuna, as usual Sukuna writings = food metaphors.
1.) Falls first, face first, and falls HARD. Was in complete denial because "love is trash" but this feeling is…actually NICE??? Actually makes his days better??? For once he's not bored out of his mind (and nearly to insanity) when he's not fighting or eating??? 2.) Virgin. Guy is inexperienced with all genders and sexes. Listen, as much as I love King!Sukuna and his favorite concubine trope, I'll have to do the 180 here. The guy probably never touched anyone in his life - cuz he also didn't want to. Why would he, when all the women and men offered to him were sacrifices from families with ulterior motives, and who were, themselves, harboring alterior motives, too? Nobody actually wants to be with him - he was an unwanted king, with followers who only bowed to get on his good graces and GET SOMETHING from him. Why would he want what they were offering? 3.) This guy has never been this close and intimate with anyone in a way that's not TRYING TO KILL EACH OTHER, and it takes him quite a bit of time to get used to this. It's all so overwhelming the first few times; the emotions, and the pleasure of it, and the fact that he's being so vulnerable with YOU. However, once he starts to get more comfortable, then he gets more eager and if we've seen anything about him - it's that he's a fast learner. Starts to pick up on what feels good for the both of you. Starts to look forward to it, too. 4.) He'll tease you - of course, but all the same he'll growl and whimper and plead for you, too. Yes, the tummy mouth will also growl and whine. The sweet noises he makes are reserved for you and only you. 5.) He WILL lick and taste your skin, let his teeth dig softly into your flesh but never biting too deep to break it - it's his favorite thing to do. Remember how he can manifest multiple mouths? Yeah, he's absolutely doing that to taste you more. 6.) His kisses, once hesitant and dare you say - shy, become passionate. Way too passionate. It's overwhelming. His tongue tastes every part of your mouth he can, gently biting and suckling and licking your lips (your neck, your shoulders, your wrists, your SKIN in general...) as if to drain the blood from them, hands roaming your body and kneading the soft flesh. Every part of you like a feast he can almost eat. 7.) Slow and intense lovemaking; almost violent in a way that feels like he's trying to literally devour you. 8.) Does NOT like your attention elsewhere and WILL NOT share you during lovemaking. Think about him, not someone or something else. Be with him, not elsewhere. Look at him, and only him.
.
GOD is it difficult to be a Sukuna fan sometimes - especially if you like other characters, too. Especially Gojo and Yuji...coughs awkwardly. Well that'd be just terrible now wouldn't it?

theres much to be said about the woobification of tim drake as a character entirely in fanon, but one thing in particular that tends to irk me is the misinterpretation of this scene.
now, i generally dont have a problem with fanon interprets of events like this!!! in fact, im an avid fanfic reader and i can honestly say i dont mind when comic events get squashed or stretched out of proportion. people want angst and fluff, and hurt and comfort, and i can respect that a lot of dc fans get their info from fanon and dont bother/simply dont want to read comics because they lack those feel-good moments/that emotional depth that fanfics have. thats fine, thats none of my business, and thats perfectly valid!
...but i think it does get to a point where a comic is SO misinterpreted, like this one (or just this series in general, really), that it loses all that makes it good and interesting in the first place.
dick isn't a bad guy here. whether you think what he said was warranted or not, or if you think him saying that he thinks tim should seek help is insensitive or wrong, he's not some evil abusive guy who hates tim (tim literally calls him his brother in the scene???? in a positive context??)
i just see a lot of people think dick is some terrible villain for this event (and for the "firing and replacing tim just so damian can be robin for no reason" thing which is also a misinterpretation of what happened, but thats something else). when in reality dick himself is already struggling to keep his family from falling apart even more than it already has, has been forced to become batman, and has to raise this random, murderous kid that just popped into his life (i love damian but bro was giving dick gray hairs in his twenties in the beginning lol), all while dealing with the loss of his father for the second time in his life. on top of this, to him, his 16 year old brother is off doing god knows what across europe going on a wild goose chase looking for their (presumably) dead father and doesnt know what to do about it.
but despite all that, in tims eyes, dick massively messed up. we know he thinks this by what he says in the comic.
which leads me to my last point; tims own thoughts. this is a bit more of my opinion on tims character rather than objective fact so bear with me. tims internal monologue and emotional journey across red robin are why i think this series is so heavily (sorry to keep using this word) misinterpreted by fanon.
throughout the course of the story, tim is being forced to suffer with a grief that that he doesnt know how to deal with. like dick, this is the second father tim has lost. but the difference between them is that when tim experiences loss he... doesnt really know how to deal with it, like at all. he goes crazy when he loses someone close to him. at least dick can kinda sorta keep it together. after jack died and bruce tried to adopt him, tim literally hired a man to pretend to be his uncle to avoid it. when kon died, he tried to clone him 99 whole times with old luthor tech, (and later when damian died, tim hallucinated hugging him, or at the very least pretended to, which while a lot tamer than these other instances i still think it speaks to how deeply he feels these losses and how badly he handles it). i dont know the specifics of how he acted about other people hes lost like bart, stephanie, and his mom, but tim even says himself that part of the reason why he's doing all this is because of how many people he's lost, so it can be assumed he reacted harshly to their passing, too.
tim also admits, multiple times throughout red robin, that he knows he sounds/acts crazy, he admits that he goes farther than he ever went as robin when dealing with criminals and cases because as red robin he's now "tainted" and agrees with connor in a later issue that "red robin" is his punishment for himself.
so what i mean by all this is that, simply put, tim is an unreliable narrator. of course we as the readers feel angry at dick and cassie, tim himself is angry at them. he feels hurt and betrayed, and it could even be assumed at that point that he feels they abandoned him, and he thinks that they think hes crazy. he isolates himself from everyone, he feels unworthy of everything, and he "knows" hes lost it. "except for everything, im perfectly fine." is a quote he says, and there are plenty more like it in the series.
my point is that in tims eyes for the majority of his character arc as red robin, nearly everyone hes ever loved has either died or abandoned him, but as the audience we know thats not the case. cassie loves him, dick of course loves him, they just both made mistakes and hurt him, but that doesnt make either of them irredeemable or mean that they dont care about tim. tim himself, in that moment, just doesnt believe that, or doesnt even seem to consider that. he sees the bad, and blinded by his own grief and anger, doesnt see the good.
i just think a lot of people miss that, and just write dick off as borderline abusive or purposefully hurtful in red robin fanfics, because comics tend to get telephoned so much in the fandom that thats what people see him as, when it's not the case, which is how we got the "dick threatens to send tim to arkham" thing. (but thats just gonna happen i guess. did you know that in the actual jasons attack on titans tower comic jason wears his robin costume?? yeesh i'll have to stick with fanon on their interpretation of that whole thing. see its not bad all the time)
besides the idea of the whole arkham trope thing, theres still plenty of canon angst to pull from in red robin! you can write about how tim thinks hes losing it, ra's weird infatuation with tim and everything that comes with that, tim being forced to deal with losing robin, tims rocky relationship with tam fox, tims super rocky relationship with damian, any interaction between kon and tim, OH. the fact that at one point tim got kicked out of a tall building and accepted his death (only thinking about how bruce would be proud), only to be saved by dick last minute and then lying about knowing dick would save him (yeah right buddy) ((its issue #12)). theres also the idea of bruce and tim talking after tim finds him (canon bruce hug!!!). and theres more im forgetting for sure. all that to say theres plenty of ideas already there for the taking!!!!! red robin is a great comic filled with plenty of emotional moments.
moral of the story, dick isn't a terrible person, tim needs help but he isn't a little baby incapable of doing anything, and i believe writing them differently in the context of red robin (2009) is a disservice to their characters and their relationships with each other in the actual comic.
...but i mean, im not your dad. write what you want

thank you for answering all my asks and translating all the stupid from antis. the oldish new one i keep seeing is how emma eventually said yes because "hook wore her down" (*eye roll)*, he moved on from one obsession to the other (revenge to emma), he was purchasing her with the ship trade (seriously?), he tried to kill her twice (who cares THEY WERE ENEMIES) and how it's unrealistic how he fell in love with her so quick, oh and that he never did anything good unless it was for emma.
Tumblr media
The fact that the people who say this ship SwanQueen, SwanFire or Rumbelle makes me roll my eyes even more because NONE of those shippers have a right to speak on CaptainSwan, especially with their fanon nonsense, when their ships are canon toxic as abuse.
CLAIM: Hook wore Emma down
This is an old one and I’ve touched on it before but it’s so easy to debunk. How? How did he “wear her down”? The answer is always “he didn’t take “no” for an answer”. To which I ask, “when did Emma say the word “no” to him? She never tells Hook “no” but she does stand up Neal after Hook backs off to give them a chance. It’s canon fact that Emma encourages Hook to think of her and then when they return after the curse it is canon fact that she calls him for things including watching Henry. So it was Emma keeping that connection between them. It was also Emma that kissed him first, asked him out first and asked him to move in. They want to make Emma out to be a badass but in the next breath treat her like she has no mind of her own.
CLAIM: Hook moved from one obsession to another
Honestly, shocked they didn’t bring up his fanon obsession with rum here. If Hook was obsessed with Emma in an unhealthy way then he wouldn’t have encouraged her to let him die in Camelot nor encouraged her to leave the UnderWorld. If he was obsessed with Emma then he’d have begged her to make him the dark one, do whatever she had to do including stay in the UnderWorld with him. But he was not obsessed with Emma in an unhealthy way. He was in love with her, though. The same way David is in love with Snow. Are David and Snow obsessed with each other? Why do I never hear complaints about that? I mean Snow didn’t want to leave the island without David.
Hook purchased Emma by trading his ship
I THINK this is an old one but worded in a way I’ve never seen before! They threw in the word “purchased” to make it sound sinister which just shows you how much CaptainSwan haters have to reach!
So apparently Killian trading his ship to get to Emma so she can save her family and friends is toxic because… drum roll… it’s a grand gesture and Killian did it for Emma! Of course this logic only applies to Killian. I mean Regina takes Belle’s heart and uses her like a puppet to supposedly save Emma from Rumple (but come now, it was to save Robin for her own self) and that’s just fine and dandy. Hypocrites.
Yes, Killian traded his ship for Emma. And that isn’t a bad thing! Copied from another one of my blog posts:
Remember when he said he would win her heart not because of any trickery but because she wanted him? He had several chances to do so but he waited. He didn’t use that gesture to sway her opinion of him. He let her find her way to him on her own. So if Hook was intending to use his grand gesture to win her… he’d have told her this the first time she asked which I think was in NY Serenade. The fact that he waits is so significant. He waits until she’s had time to realize that he is there for her. He is going to be the one person that is never going to walk away. That he will be there to dry her tears and offer encouragement. That is what she discovered during their journey back in time.
CLAIM: Hook tries to kill her- twice!
He did? When? Do they mean the sword fight? Oh yeah, he was really trying there, man. And by trying I mean barely trying. Like putting in minimum effort and even stopping to crack a few crass jokes. Hook wasn’t trying to kill Emma. Do they mean when he left her in the cell? Did he really think she would die there? That’s debatable. Oh I bet they mean in S2 when he sailed away with the bean. To which I answer them: you might want to check with your queen on that one. It was her kill switch after all and she only decided to help when she had no choice and Henry’s life was on the line meanwhile Hook turned around after having a true change of heart.
But what about SwanQueen? Regina tried to kill Emma as an infant. Regina then attempted like 3-4 more times over the course of two seasons to get rid of Emma. So what does that say about SwanQueen? Oh, let me guess, that’s OK because 1) it’s Regina and she’s a woman and they claim Regina really loved her and 2) because it was for Henry! Well, bull shit is what I have to say to that.
SwanFire shippers that say this have no right to criticize either. While Neal may not have ever been in a sword fight with Emma, he is guilty of worse since he is the reason Emma built her walls. Neal was someone Emma trusted and loved and he broke that trust, abandoned her and sent her to prison for his crimes.
OutlawQueen can shut the hell up to because the only reason they are together is because Regina killed Marian in the first timeline and is absolved of that murder thanks to the show ignoring that and focussing instead on blaming Zelena and Emma.
Rumbelle can also sit down because while Rumple never tried to kill Belle he’s kept her prisoner.
CLAIM: Hook fell in love with Emma too quick
Quickly, ask them to define “too quick”! Was Snow and Charming “too quick”? Because that happened pretty fast. Was Rumbelle “too quick” because I mean she was his prisoner and all of the sudden there’s an attempted and failed TLK! Was Snow forgiving Regina of EVERYTHING one episode after Regina admits she’s a psychopath that doesn’t regret ruining Snow’s life and murdering her father and separating her from her daughter because Regain got what she wanted “too quick”? Please tell me how long it should have taken????
I have always thought that Emma and Killian were attracted to each other from the start but Killian doesn’t even act on that attraction until S3. And neither of them realize how deep that attraction runs until their first kiss which rocks both of them. That kiss is when they realize there’s more between them. Now, Killian embraces that while Emma runs behind her walls … but there was definitely build up and them getting together officially doesn’t happen until s4.
CLAIM: Hook never did anything good unless it was for Emma
If this was even true… so? Regina didn’t do anything good until she realized that the only way to keep Henry and get her happy ending was to join team hero. But that’s fine, isn’t? Everything Regina does is self-serving but Killian doing things out of love for Emma is bad? Why?
I actually covered a lot of this on my 99 problems with this Killian hate fest and can be found under Red Flag Claim #8, 9 &10. but to sum it up: Love is a powerful motivator and shouldn’t be looked down upon. Yes, Killian did things for Emma but it wasn’t only for Emma. Emma was a leader who inspired Killian much like his brother did as a leader. When Hook helps Ursula, Liam, Belle, Meg, Ashley, the faeries, David and even Neal he is not doing any of that for Emma. He is doing that because he wants to be the man he was meant to be.
CLAIM: Hook only went to find Emma because of the memory potion therefore it was self-serving
Yeah sure cause trading his home and outrunning a curse was a walk in the park? He did it because her family needed her. I think this is pretty evident, not only because he says that when he shows up but because of everything he did for David in Neverland. He went against Pan, an enemy he admits to being the worse he’s ever faced. And he does this to spare Emma pain. He also wanted to make sure Neal was really alive before causing Emma unnecessary pain if it ended up being another trick. So no, I reject the idea that Killian’s only motivation there was himself. He did not want Emma to lose people she loved.
And I think it also had to do with freeing her from a life that was a lie. And yes, he hoped he would be someone she missed but that was not the only reason he did what he did. It was the right thing to do. He says that too.
But as you say, no one else was doing anything! And I think it’s pretty telling that Neal knew to send the potion to Killian because if anyone would find a way to help Emma it was him.
CLAIM: Emma got exasperated when Hook tried to turn her asking him to babysit into a sexual thing
The CaptainSwan haters clutch their pearls every time Hook flirts or even looks at Emma but their fave does much worse and they swoon! Like how they try to make the line from Regina “taste my forbidden fruit” into something sexual and Regina is trying to kill Emma there. Like save your fake outrage people because I know it’s only due to Hook being with Emma and not your favorite. And if its from a Neal fan well give me a break there too because that jerk thought he was entitled to a second chance with Emma.
And as you say, Hook gets serious fast and then gives her the most encouraging heartfelt speech. Besides, Emma is just hiding behind her walls. If she really didn’t want to see Hook she wouldn’t be calling on him.

hi darling, just wanted to ask what your opinion on cassian in acosf is. if you've already said/wrote about this could you link it! i personally, prefer neris but you made me like cassian again with your fic lol. i loved your fics and i just wanted to connect with you. have a wonderful day my love.
I alternate between fanon Cassian and Eris (with a bit of Lucien thrown in and maybe a sprinkling of Azriel). I'm glad you liked the fics! I will be writing more Neris soon.
I think I have ranted about that book several times but here are a few Cassian centric complaints:
Prioritising Mor over Nesta We've seen time and time again that Cassian puts Mor's feelings ahead of Nesta's despite saying she's like a sister and there's no feelings between them. I'm still not over him dropping her hand the moment Mor came into view after she'd bandaged his wrist. She goes to Illyria and essentially gives Nesta a telling off for not training (as though she has any authority over Nesta) and Cassian stays quiet.
Prioritising everyone over Nesta Cassian cannot even hear a bad word said about Rhys because the blinkers are well and truly on. He is aggressive towards Nesta when she says something bad about him. The NC is not a dictatorship and Nesta should be allowed to voice her opinions without Cassian at her throat. There were no mating instincts at all. When Rhys threatens her life, Cassian doesn't show the same ferocity to protect her. In a previous book, when Azriel argues with Feyre, Rhys shoots him down and is immediately backing Feyre up. We got none of that with Cassian; Nesta was always in the wrong.
Nesta became his sex doll They locked her up due to her reliance on casual sex... so Cassian then fills that void and has casual sex with her. I might have not minded it so much if there was at least after care or some genuine tender moments, but it never happened. I think in one scene, Cassian pulls out the second he's finished and leaves her on the bed. It's terrible decision making on Cassian's part and a power imbalance. Further, when she has been attacked by the kelpie, he acknowledges that she looks awful following the attack, but instead of rejecting her advances (her using sex to cope with trauma) he proceeds to have rough sex with her. It's vile.
Delighting in her pain Nesta falls down the stairs trying to leave and Cassian mocks her for it. She is in pain and he laughs. Knows that she's starving herself but withholds sugar when she actually wants to eat. He forces her on the hike where she carried the heaviest bag and pushes her until she collapses rather than noticing she's struggling. When Feyre says Rhys is delighted to hear Cassian is keeping her on the hike for a few more days, Cassian admits he is also delighted. It is so, so disgusting.
Their whole relationship It's based upon sex and grinding Nesta down until she's the woman that slots in nicely to the IC. There weren't really any cute scenes of them being a couple or learning to be friends. They only dance together when Cassian orders Eris to move and Nesta feels guilty that Eris insults him. Nesta is so often used by the IC to further their plans, and Cassian rarely speaks up against it. He throws a temper tantrum in ACOFAS when she doesn't want his gift. Throws another in public when she freaks out about being his mate. They're not friends at all. They have so little in common. SJM could have had Cassian learning about what Nesta liked e.g. reading her smutty books or making a friendship bracelet together or visiting one of her taverns just to listen to the music. Instead, Nesta had to change herself to suit him and lose her powers because of Rhys' mistake. She never had to atone for anything and now she's trapped in this Stepford Wives life!!!!

"I'm in love with you"
The precious meaning of a phrase is only defined by the weight you decide to put on it. And today you have decided that with your words you'd give birth to what's only going to give you and him pure, undefined pain. An elephant in the room if you may, an ogre of emotions that otherwise would be unwanted to stand between the two of you.
You think 'otherwise' as if it's not unwanted already. The unrequited nature of your sentence will linger in your heart more than you'd like to admit, but you're ready to lift your eyes and meet his golden ones, ready to be judged with the coldness of his gaze, ready to be treated like you've expected you will when coming into his office.
You still have that hidden truth to spill to him, and it surpasses the one you spilt already, but you hold your dry tongue in your mouth for now.
What could possibly only hurt like a kitten's scratch -his mute, his echoing silence- is rather twisting numerous sharp daggers in your chest, twirling over the wound of your feelings, ravaging any hope for salvation you had been left with. You wonder how your friends ever managed to convince you that the hardest thing about confessing was the part where you had to build up your courage.
Your courage never suffered from a hit as you walked to his office, despite being terrified for what you had to say to him. Paperwork in your hands and none of a nervous trembling in your lips, iron clad feet clashing with the tiles of the building. You've made your decision to get rid of all those feelings, not wanting to spend another night bent on his desk or sprawled under him, only for him to act like he barely knows you in the office and then to be all greedy and sweet in public events.
His games, that god awful behavior of his, the way he chooses to use you -even if you feel like you use him to, to turn him into something that he's not with your imagination- you're tired of everything. And then there's also the fact that he's a traito-
"Aha"
The answer to your confession wasn't supposed to affect you either for better or for worse, rather this confession was an egotistical act, Mirko, or any of your friends previously said, that one had to endure in order to take the next big step. Whether that was a step accompanied by your desired person, or a step to redeeming the anathema a rejection could have caused.
Frankly it wasn't that the golden orbs staring back at you were rejecting. If anything, they didn't bore into yours in a way that left you hollow, but they didn't fill your heart with dreams either. And what your original intentions begged to stand up for was that you didn't care of any significant reciprocation.
You wish you didn't care where those words you had uttered had left Hawks, or in what inner conflict they had found him in. But you know, he won't be in any conflict about what you have to say, what you've kept inside for too long, what has bled onto your morals like a run over animal on the street, left to rot and seep into the road as it disintegrates under the sun or the cold.
Unbeknownst to you, deep down in his head, Hawks doesn't know how to feel, or how to react; its all too sudden for him to process. The way you spoke of it so casually yet, so lightheartedly, your tone suggesting that you let your most vulnerable object of thought slip through your fingertips, like you let it fall out of your head and shutter on the ground.
"I-"
It isn't much, just the start of a sentence that he hopes he could compose, but the way your brows furrow at the sound of his voice does nothing other than startle him.
You should have known, he's not going to give in to such demands. Love, relationships, he doesn't have time, space, a mindset, doesn't need you to be that one for him, he wants all the stability he can get when he wants it, however he wants it and he's gone when he gets it, swift as a bird, cold as stone. That doesn't necessarily tickle a nerve inside of him, you know the rules, even if he feels bad about you suffering like this there's nothing he can do -he doesn't even know how- and he chooses to let you speak, get it out, before he has to go and be a hero for the day.
"No, no save it," You wave him off "here's my resignation"
The authority in your voice isn't the one he was used to. As his eyes blink, honey colored orbs taking in the un-glory of your posture, he's met with the sight of your hands hugging around your own form; the ultimate sign of vulnerability, uncertainty.
"You don't have to quit because you fell in love with me"
'You fell in love with me' he speaks of the words so little, as if they're dirty, as if you're in this with yourself and they're so suffocating that he can't stand them, only to softly graze your ear with vore intentions, to tell you that you don't have to quit, to urge you to not take this too serious.
Your feelings aren't serious.
"I do" You speak, trying to jab him back with some crafted poison in your tone. But you know what you're going to say next will definitely do it for him, it'll poison him we'll, whether it makes you endangered or not. "I was on patrol when I saw you doing business with Dabi, so save it."
The weight of those words is what finally serves as a huge hit to your courage. You've outed yourself greatly and now the chewing on your bottom lip is profound and painful to a great amount. Hawks' face is contorted in a terrifying darkness, thick brows clenched above his eyes and lips pushed into a thin line, nose scrunched.
"Listen-"
"I just don't want to be a part of this"
That's when he knows he has to be forgiving.
Hawks isn't used to you, a fierce warrior of a hero, clenching your jaw tensely or furrowing your brows in sorrows. He isn't used to you being so upfront with your emotions either; whatever the two of you have shared in the past has been in words of reluctance and mind states of regret, each one desperate to prevent your hearts from getting hurt.
He knows his heart won't get hurt though, it's shielded way too well inside his chest, in such way he feels hollow, driven by anything other than the stupid organ. You should have known, he tells himself, before you got involved so deeply, but he left you with no time for thoughts like these, wiggling you under his wing while biting your skin instead of pecking it.
Just as Hawks has always known that he's going to hurt you no matter you rejecting labels or bottling feelings up and absolutely forbidding the mention of them, it's obvious that things can't go his way. He isn't used to you eyeing him with pain gathering in the corners of your eyes, but he's willing to play the part you're setting up for him right on the spot. Even if he has to admit, the thought of being painted in this color jabs him just like knowing things won't go back to the way they were between the two of you.
He doesn't mind. He had to let it go because by the time you know about the truth you won't even remember his face, or the way his voice sounds, and he shouldn't think about this but he does, in a way, in the very back of his head.
His mission, he thinks, is far more important than his personal life -it's a top priority for greater good.
Once greater good is achieved he's going to be able to invest in a personal life that involves feelings and excitement and even the noble pleasure of being able to choose between priorities. Right?
So, whatever he's feeling now -the tight knot in his throat, the painful lack of oxygen in his throat, his gut twisting and churning and his limbs alternating from spasming to going numb- he has to ignore.
But for the worse part he doesn't really know how to act. The confession that has startled him is still lingering on repeat in the back of his head, fueling the small ignition of a flame that begs to put you on a pedestal, or rather, it began to make his mouth move on it own, to tell how that he too wishes he could be with you as more than this secretly exclusive arrangement you've set.
Maybe, his heart pleads, maybe he can tell you about his mission and clear up the confusion.
He wonders if that would be a part you'd want him to play for you.
"I won't give you away. So long as you don't involve me in this, I don't have ulterior motives for protecting civilians."
"I-" He starts, darkness bottling up in his gut, stomach falling after going utterly numb. Somehow he knows he's not going to utter a word if he keeps acting like that.
"Hawks-"
"You'll get over it."
It's sharp and it's short and it sends heavy, lethal daggers to your chest, so much that you can feel your heart beginning to slip from in between your ribs, out of chest and onto the floor of his office. It'd be a mess to clean, the blood if your agony and your heartache rightfully on his floor. For him to look down on, this time, physically.
"I will"
He knows his words hurt, just by the mere look your face contorts and he won't utter a word about what you just said, he'll link you to Endeavor and when the time comes you'll know. His cause is greater than your heart breaking, greater than chasing after that small arrangement he's made so he can get physical release from time to time.
It's better not to react. Not to terrorize you into anything for if you're afraid you might out the wrong truth to the heroes in your circle and his plan -the commission's plan- will fail and the heroes will lose this war. And he can't lose.
You want to look at him with menace and disgrace, not to atone him for the way he's making you feel; crashing your dreams, poisoning your morals and your thoughts, living down to your expectations so much that you don't know what to think of him.
Like he did when you saw him after closed doors, cold and unapproachable, to the point he's scary. Manipulative so much that you found your way under him without even realizing how fast it happened, what impact it had to you to get involved with him. You just want to be out, unwielded from his spider's web and latch yourself into something real and kind, to serve your purpose as a hero. As a human.
When he opens his mouth again you're not scared anymore, of what he may do to you, of what will happen next.

Nah actually I’m not done, I’m seeing too many bad takes to shut up about it.
SO many people seem to agree with the sentiment that “sTrAiGhT mEn cAnT bE fRiEnDs AnYmOrE” which is…….incredibly stupid on a lot of levels.
I get the idea, people shipping everything in fandom can be annoying I guess, although I really don’t understand how that effects people who aren’t involved in fandom, but the idea that men can’t go to a bar anymore because people are “exploiting” queer people is absolutely laughable.
People shipping straight characters isn’t exploiting homosexuality, it’s searching for representation in a place where there is none. If two people have chemistry, people are going to ship them, that’s truly just the way fandom is, there is no point policing it. And funny how it’s never an issue when people ship a heterosexual couple, but as soon as it’s gay it’s exploitation and fetishization.
And let’s not forget….the whole show in question is theoretically about men being friends with each other and having deep and impactful relationships with one another. And there’s. Not a single. Queer person. In the show. In fact, there hasn’t been a single queer person in any of the shows or movies in the MCU (yes I AM ignoring Anthony Russo in Endgame lol). That’s not an actor’s fault, not at all, but to say that people are somehow making it impossible for men to be friends is a wildly stupid take.
I get it, lines get crossed between fandom and reality all the time. People don’t understand boundaries and parasocialize with their favorite celebrities without their consent. I’m not saying that it’s wrong to not see a relationship as being platonic. (As many people have brought up, Chris Evans has said things similar to that in the past). The issue is not “shipping”, the issue is that statements like queer relationships being “pure” and pesky fans “twisting” things that aren’t actually there, is that it gives rise to the hordes of people who now feel perfectly happy spewing their own prejudices about queer fans and queer people.
Also, I don’t like the idea that queer relationships are inherently “pure” because they aren’t. I’ve been in queer relationships, they had their shitty moments just like anyone else’s do. They can be toxic and abusive and awful, because they aren’t “pure” they’re human relationships that are flawed.
I get it, I’m a fierce defender of fandom. I found so many friends and a safe place in dark times in fandom. So I get that I may be speaking from a defensive place, but I don’t think so. All I can see is another man who’s uncomfortable with queer fandom spaces trying to make it seem like queer people are somehow victims when people want to see two characters hold hands. Yeah sure, there’s explicit fanfic written about these characters, but seriously, you’ve got to actively seek that out to see it, a random passerby isn’t going to somehow fall into the deep depths of AO3.
There are plenty of issues in fandom, plenty of issues with the sexualization of characters and shipping culture. But wanting to see a couple of men or women holding hands is not one of those issues. People are allowed to want to see representation in their favorite characters, and it’s not “exploiting homosexuality” to create your own fanon about those characters.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to poor wording and leading questions, I do understand what he was supposed to be getting at, but it’s opened the floodgates of people now saying that all shipping is gross, only straight women ship things and they’re all fetishizers. That’s the problem here. It’s not about shipping. It’s about the way fandom gets constantly demonized for just wanting to vibe with their favorite characters and see themselves represented in media.

Boromir for the character ask?
send me a character and i’ll list:
favorite thing about them: Honestly? His focus. He's a problem-solver. He focuses on whatever task is in front of him, and while he's the golden child, I honestly don't know if he'd be the best fit for Steward because he seems to be at his best when he's thinking about concrete solutions to discrete problems.
Oh! The other thing is that he evaluates the advice given to him for what it is, not based on the authority of the advisor. He’s not going to accept bad advice just because it comes from a trustworthy source, and he’s going to be honest about his thoughts. So he’ll trust and respect the advice of the council of Elrond, but not to the point where he doesn’t ask questions or question things that don’t make sense (I’m thinking about Caradhras here) It’s a good skill to have as the de-facto heir to Gondor, and it makes sense that he’s not in awe of elves or Gandalf and acts among them as a guest but also as an equal at least in political status, though his experience is vastly more limited.
At the same time, he’s not arrogant or haughty. He's a team player. He’s supportive of decisions for the most part, though where the ring is concerned, things get skewy. He’s not the kind of person to rub mistakes back in your face. He’s compassionate and understanding (which we see even in the way he treats Frodo as he strives for the Ring).
least favorite thing about them: Honestly Boromir doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I suppose his positive traits are also double-edged swords. Focusing more on the advice than the giver sort of has Feanor vibes? And you can see where his focus leads him when he talks to Frodo about why he wants the ring and how he would use it. He can see his corner of the world (Gondor) and his place in saving it (political, but primarily military leadership), and it’s his practicality, drive, and focus that the Ring exploits. He’s too busy thinking about what he must do to save the day that he misses the grander scheme (yet he’s doing it because he cares! he cares!).
brOTP: Um, Faramir, I guess. Though I guess it’d be kinda sweet if he’s got a brotherly relationship with Bergil. I can easily imagine Bergil hero-worshipping Boromir, and so I think it’d be sweet if Boromir did acknowledge him and know him by name.
OTP: none? look, I rarely ship and even more rarely out of canon.
nOTP: also none? Shelob? The Ring?
random headcanon: I dunno...
unpopular opinion: boromir has dark hair Sean Bean is an actor he’s not the only face
So I feel like there’s a bit of a structural problem with the LotR fandom. Characters are often written in pairs or as foils, and inevitably the comparison starts to turn towards “who’s better?” Then, if you don’t ship them, there’s a tendency to aggrandize one character’s virtues and minimize their flaws (which tends to happen everywhere), but then the comparison game starts. Because they have a paired character, the natural next step is to lionize your favorite by de-emphasizing the other character’s strengths and virtues (and sometimes also highlighting their flaws). (I’m not immune to this by far, btw, and am possibly about to engage in it.)
This happen the most with Frodo and Sam, but I think you also see it in Boromir and Faramir. Because obviously, in the books, Faramir is the golden child. Not in his father’s eyes, of course, but narratively speaking. And I have mad respect for him.
Most people don’t try and diss Faramir (because frankly. it’s hard. like, what are you going to say?), but there’s a tendency to downplay the fact that Boromir is his culture’s golden child, and Faramir...isn’t. Which isn’t to say Faramir isn’t beloved by those who know him, but his strengths are not valued in the same way that Boromir’s are. Faramir knows this. And given Boromir’s attitudes discussed above (how confidently he assumes his position in the world), I can’t believe he’s the 100% supportive, loving, sensitive, protective brother that fanon depicts him as. I don’t see how he can be.
Don’t get me wrong, I do believe the brothers love each other deeply. But growing up with siblings has taught me that it’s possible to love someone and yet be deeply wounded by them due to the casual and inescapable intimacy of your relationship? You can share more inside jokes and weird stories than anyone, yet you can never get away from how deeply they know you--not your thoughts, but who you are at home and who you were when you were seven and how you acted when someone broke up with you or what you did when your parents were furious.
You also know exactly how you match up against them, because you will always exist as a unit. And because your relationship is as natural as the lens  in your eye (you can’t imagine viewing the world without it), you forget about the other as a person and just say something and don’t think about how it hurts them. You can joke about this one thing and your sibling can carry around the hurt for years and you didn’t even know. And maybe the hurt isn’t even your fault--maybe they were just sensitive and you had no way of knowing, but the hurt doesn’t go away for the lack of malice. And even best-friend siblings are capable of malice towards each other at times.
So Boromir is good at things that Faramir isn’t, and Boromir knows it. He’s probably ribbed his brother in what he thinks is a playful way about when you’re going to shape up, or do X, or do Y, or why do you do that, anyways, or do you realize that’s a little unbecoming? maybe you should stop that. You know Father’s going to think that you’re... And he doesn’t realize how those slights can add up over the years. I do think he’s said things to his peers about his brother that have ended up hurting him. No matter how pure and nice he is, that sort of thing is unavoidable, and due to his cultural upbringing I don’t actually think he’d question the appropriateness of his attitude/acceptance and glorification of martial prowess at the expense of those who don’t have it in the same degree.
I think this passage is really telling:
For on the eve of the sudden assault a dream came to my brother in a troubled sleep; and afterwards a like dream came oft to him again, and once to me. 'In that dream I thought the eastern sky grew dark and there was a growing thunder, but in the West a pale light lingered, and out of it I heard a voice, remote but clear, crying:          Seek for the Sword that was broken:          In Imladris it dwells;          There shall be counsels taken          Stronger than Morgul-spells.          There shall be shown a token          That Doom is near at hand,          For Isildur's Bane shall waken,          And the Halfling forth shall stand. Of these words we could understand little, and we spoke to our father, Denethor, Lord of Minas Tirith, wise in the lore of Gondor. This only would he say, that Imladris was of old the name among the Elves of a far northern dale, where Elrond the Halfelven dwelt, greatest of lore-masters. Therefore my brother, seeing how desperate was our need, was eager to heed  the  dream and seek for  Imladris; but since the way was full of doubt and danger, I took the journey upon myself. Loth was my father to  give  me leave, and long have I wandered by roads forgotten, seeking the house of Elrond, of which many had heard, but few knew where it lay.'
There’s so much you can read into this. Faramir has this dream, and he has it many times. We know he’s a lover of lore and no less devoted to his kingdom than Boromir, though his love is expressed differently. He is “eager” to heed the dream. So would I if I was having prophecy dreams all the time.
But is Faramir a member of the fellowship? No. Why? Because Boromir “took it upon himself.” He wanted to do it, he thought himself the better candidate (and Faramir the worse), and he argued his way into doing it against his father’s wishes. Coupled with Denethor’s later attitude towards Boromir, I’m inclined to believe Boromir was uniquely able to obtain this quest for himself because Denethor has a soft spot for him.
I find myself inclined to disregard Boromir’s account of Faramir’s motive (”how desparate was our need”), because it sounds like he’s justifying the appropriateness of his actions.  If it’s just about the great need of the kingdom, it’s nothing personal that one brother goes and the other stays. That view implies  that Faramir’s interest in this mission is primarily utilitarian in purpose, with a little academic curiosity--that is, it’s nothing personal. Doesn’t matter who goes! Not as long as we protect the kingdom! Which...just doesn’t square with his description of Faramir having repeatedly cryptic dreams that he wants to understand. I can almost guarantee that Faramir wants to know what those dreams meant more than Boromir.
It’s a bit tragic, because ultimately Faramir was more suited for the quest than Boromir (tramping about in the wilderness doesn’t seem to be a problem, he’s also a team player, and he’s much more willing to accept the power of the Ring/not downplay its personal danger, and would be able to see it in a bigger picture beyond just Gondor). Ultimately, though, if Boromir was the one to catch Frodo in Ithillien, the story would have a veeeeeeery different ending. (Gollum would likely be dead, and I can’t imagine he’d be inclined to just. let Frodo and Sam go free.)
I kind of view their relationship as a much less antagonistic version of Agravain and Gwalchmai from Gillian Bradshaw. (Agravain is more of a jerk than I can ever imagine Boromir being, and has a wicked temper).
Also none of this is to say that I don’t think he’s not protective of his brother.
So a lot of words to say: I don’t think the Boromir and Faramir relationship is as uwu cinnamon roll as it seems in fandom. I think they loved each other, but I think Boromir did have a tendency to take what he wanted when he thought he deserved it and not give it a second thought, even when it was at the expense of his brother. Sure, he’d defend his brother night and day, but I expect him to be a bit of a jerk, be unaware of the extent of his behavior, and also see little wrong with it (the ring quest seems to have crossed a line, by the way he justifies it).
Still, they do love each other deeply and genuinely. It’s just a little more conflicted.
song i associate with them: Requiem, from Dear Evan Hanson. Not a particularly creative association (and I don’t associate him with Connor at all), but his death comes as such a shock at the beginning of TTT and brings with it so many mixed feelings due to both their relationship and the circumstances of his death. Nobody’s mourning is straightforward: not Frodo, or Denethor, or Faramir, or Aragorn, or Merry, or Pippin. His absense is woven throughout TTT and even RotK, in plot and in emotion and in theme.
favorite picture of them:
Don’t really have a favorite, but this one is nice.

Chrome Callout post.
relax this is just my love hate relationship with chromes writing and potential. spoiler, it ends with all the love... hate is only in the middle.
My absolute favorite thing in fanfics is Chromes characterization. Like we all know Chrome is completely aware that Mukuro and co need a reoccurring dose of Valium and a therapist willing to do illegal things in order to lower their sadistic points to ”kind of disturbing but tolerable”. Or at least we hope she does even though she proves to us again and again that she’s not phased by it in the slightest and might actually be just as bad. TYL and she’s still running around helping them do god knows what. She follows them on this massacre pridefully, she “believes in” them ( its sweet actually. They’re what she thinks of when Mukuro asks what she believes in and makes a young kokuyo gang.)
In fanfics when people write her to be a double edge sword it’s hilarious, and it should’ve been the character depicted in the Anime and manga instead. But I guess if she hadn’t been the quiet, breathy & compliant 14 year old people wouldn’t have morphed her into the fanon I enjoy now. Here’s some stuff i love and HC abt Chrome  and the things I absolutely hated.
1. When she actually speaks not just when spoken to. She voices her concerns although she has no intent of not doing what’s asked of her. Who knew she could speak and still be the obedient gang member Mukuro trusts her to be. And when she does this it’s funny. She is the conscience he buries underneath disgust and amusement for chaos, but that’s not her entire character. She’s not reduced to the mom friend either because of this, she’s too passive on the matter. She indulges/Enables it just the same as Chikusa or Ken, although she knows better meanwhile the thought never occurs to them. To summarize :
Tumblr media
she’s Brian
Tumblr media
2. She’s unhinged and the best part is nobody knows even though it’s blatantly obvious. She may not have the same bloodlust or violent disposition as her peers but there are other ways to showcase this. To Allow Mukuro the leader of this little fearsome Five-some to possess you whenever he feels like and witness whatever horrors he decides to inflict upon someone that day means she’s accepting of literally everything he does. She never resists or expresses distaste/fear for him or anything he does. We assume she would in some capacity because she was depicted as this wide eyed innocent girl trying her best to repay the man that got her to join a gang under the guise of a found family. She quite literally signed up for guts n glory. She knew this and never had second thoughts. Mind you she doesn’t share the same hatred for the mafia as the boys, theirs is blind hatred regardless of who you are. Hers is through them, they are her looking glass rightfully so, so if they say it then their word is law. I’m not sure about you but I would definitely be mindful of the girl who was raised semi normal and willingly turned into a killer for Mukuro of all people. They’re killing adults not shaking them up, they aren’t Tsuna and his friends they finish the job when necessary. The body count is unimaginable. She is just as loyal as Ken and Chikusa and would probably strike you where you stand for speaking ill of him. (She wouldn’t but would definitely be opposed to whatever you’re saying, unless it’s name calling. He takes no offense to that and welcomes it in fact.)
3. The fact that she’s a person apart from Mukuro (physically speaking.) and the Vongola team at all is a blessing in few fics. Although she was made to stand in for Mukuro, when he is released it’s not necessary hence him pushing her to be apart from him and his duties. He did this in the future as well when he possessed Guidio Greco no longer using chrome which lets us know she was successful in becoming a useful comrade and not just a vessel and vongola stand in. She had to otherwise he would’ve left her alone whether she was keeping his Vongola ring warm or not. She is just as aloof as Hibari, always off with her own people only engaging when it’s asked of her. I adore when people keep that in mind and don’t lump her with following behind the vongola as if she were one of them. She shows up for them when asked but her main focus is ultimately committing felonies with Ken and Chikusa per Mukuro’s orders. let her be with the kokuyo gang and let her contribute in the way she’s meant to as a fighter. figure her out give her something cool
ik that’s hard considering what we got in the manga. warning things i hate ahead
what we got in the Anime and Manga:
so we know Chromes entire purpose was to be Rokudo Mukuro’s stand in, while holding the Vongola ring he soon takes back she is just the girl that is able to get him to come fight their battles when necessary. The Anime and Manga rarely let Chrome fend for herself. We all knew he was coming the second it got serious. By giving chrome that ring she ended up being the one thing to keep him loyal to his contract with being their guardian. If she’s in danger he comes and saves her, the Vongola put her in danger because he will show up and do his job it’s like a rat trap. She is not meant to be a Vongola guardian but more like a Mukuro whistle. They never openly admit it but in the show they will expect/ask her to do things that her track record doesn’t imply she can do and just silently expect Mukuro to show up like always. SKSJDWDN they’ll be like “oh yeah call the girl who passed out and all her organs disappeared I believe in her to do this job even though i’ve never seen her make it to the end of a fight ever not worried at all” sksksjjd They never actually expect chrome to do a job they expect her to go there and manage to get Mukuro to come out and play and we should acknowledge it was just an unspoken thing.  Now I know that despite what I just implied about her not being that great a fighter but just good enough there are two comments made in all 400 chapters that are supposed to negate this.
Mammon says her illusions are powerful just not enough to fool him , and reborn says she could turn the tide if she were to fight against Mukuro but with confidence, these mean nothing to me because amano throws in so many useless comments like this and then fails to develop it further to make it believable.  and she made powerful characters make note of this so it would be non negotiable and we would just take it at face value because its them but hello ?? ofc we want to see it just like we had to see Tsuna grow before we even considered taking him seriously. hell Dino got a quicker rise to his title than chrome bc its that easy to say oh he can come into his own when needed they just never meant to do it for chrome.
it’s so irritating when they try to say she’s powerful or could be but give no actual footing for anyone to take those comments seriously when they make her pass out for thirty chapters after doing the bare minimum.
let chrome win on her own not just start strong then step out of the way then have some character say “no really she could be powerful we aren’t going to show you though” .
when she helped them sneak in the base on her own and even makes those illusions of them fighting we should have gotten more of that!!!
literally every character is fighting the funeral wreaths and chrome is running in the woods out of breath...even Lambo got to fight.
you made her sit out of the rep battle to focus on making organs like that wasn’t something she already accomplished in the future and suddenly can’t do anymore ?.....
Chrome finally makes one fighting decision and its to make a mist forcefield that’s dangerous but hell yeah we think she will finally pull through with something powerful and prove herself and then they have mukuro come in a panel later saying “your flames are far too weak to do that I will make it better and help you not die” BYE  that was a perfect time to have her come in to her own seeing as she was powerful and confident enough to initiate it in the first place.
breaking the barrier daemon spade makes * chefs kiss * give me more
when they’re not blindly robbing chrome of character development  she’s just getting kidnapped, passing out  or helping them with small things like making a fake Yamamoto for a party or sneaking in the base with illusions to disguise them. Hello she’s training under mukuro right ??? why did we ever get to see her get stronger each fight and have them say ‘she’s learning quick” instead.
enough abt what we got, back to what I’ve managed to make out of the scraps we were given..
4. Mukuro is the only one who reassures that she actually is a fighter and she eventually grows to be a good one bc of this and you should write about that dynamic and why it exists more. this one is long.
the whole dynamic I was referring to exploring is the one where Mukuro and chrome are meant to be equals. He meets this girl whose been neglected and left for dead, another kid messed up by adults neglectful selfish behavior. she willingly follows the boy who is plagued by the same demons and made a small group dedicated to getting revenge for it.  Mukuro & Chrome know they’re two sides of the same coin. he is anger and she is acceptance. He probably finds it amusing she isn’t as angry as them wants to draw it out of her  where as chrome wants to pull out the peace that comes with moving on once you’re in a better place. the girl is so happy to not be near her mom and grateful for this little family while the boys are quite literally holding a grudge against the world.  and like none of them even see it the way she does but she wants them to.  Mukuro and chrome didn’t go through the same things but it doesn’t matter to either of them because its the same story, nobody loved or valued them enough to protect them. In the end chrome will learn to be angry abt things that happen and use that to find a will to fight for something and Mukuro will learn to be at peace because they’re not in that lab anymore and those people are gone from their life. as fighters they’re so important to each others balance Mukuro’s rage cannot be left to be so blind and hers unattended and i know it’s supposed to be Tsuna that cleans his soul but i think chrome definitely plays a more active role in that.  I think he sees a better him in her, he makes her his second gives her his name because she’s the good he knows he can never fully be. she posses a peace he’s not hopeful enough to believe he can achieve or want and ultimately it will make her far more capable of the change he wants. in believing this it means he also believes she will be just as powerful as him with the right training. he’s literally training his demise and her name is Chrome. he wont take over a (mafia) world he wants her to save.  we all know he’s like annoyingly stupid when it comes to showing his emotions, he rather pretend he’s sending you to die when he’s quite literally ushering you to what he thinks is safe and sacrificing himself. so I can totally see him being like  “okay Tsuna might really change the mafia and I want to see that but I've already dug my own grave here's a better newer me that will be way easier to accept than me turning over a new leaf 40 dead families later.”
5. in the future Hibari is much more happy to help and be around because he knows what a powerful fighter Tsuna turns out to be, i think this is the exact same reason why he goes and helps chrome save herself. Kyoya knows and possibly even respects future chrome enough to save her when she’s at her weakest which he usually detests. Chrome grows to be much more in the future and that’s exactly why he even gives this sick chrome a push. everyone likes to think it’s a Mukuro thing for him but what if it actually is a chrome thing. in the show he’s never been present to witness her show any kind of power so we can only assume that at some point he saw her in action.
  6. it’s implied in the future that Mukuro fights alongside her, he views her as more than just a vessel and doesn’t baby her in the slightest when he pushes her to become her own being. I won’t call it respect per say but he doesn’t look at her as a doll even though that’s the part she played for him. He still trains her the way he eventually does Fran. We all know he just wants Mini Mukuros to aid him in his endeavors but the fact that he chooses her says a lot about how she’s meant to be viewed. He also chooses a nine year old brat with an apple hat but hey he must see something everyone else doesn’t until he’s done with them seeing as Fran was kidnapped by the freaking Varia once Mukuro’s teachings were for the most part implemented. “Oh you learned under Mukuro ? We can’t have Mukuro you need to join us immediately” (I’ve just realized Mukuro gave the vongola their strongest mist guardians all while claiming to hate them. Funny man). imagine how powerful Chrome gets, even better when Mukuro is actually there in the flesh to teach her where as Fran got some illusionary version of him. WRITE ABOUT IT.
7. for the love of god give that girl her own fighting style. yamamoto has his sword gokudera is literally baby genius ryohei is a boxer and hibari has like the most random weapon ever. go crazy. i love it when chrome isn’t pulling a trident from her bag. because she’s not mukuro anymore. she’s a reticent mist guardian, compliment that.  Mukuros trident has his own history with him. give her some history of her own.
in my fic Chrome uses a scythe and tears through reality with it.
reason:  because she is a grim reaper in her own right. she rose from the dead and is showing up to collect the souls of the wicked. a silent but fearsome person.
her style ? :  personally I like to believe chrome dabbles in profiling, hear me out. Her parents were neglectful and in turn she really has little experience with relationships in general, i think her curiosity would lead her to constantly study peoples relationships and behaviors and see how they affect her target. aka she fights by showing up getting in your head and haunting you with your own past because even if they see through it damn what a nasty wound or insecurity to bring up in the form of a hell loop illusion. this also ties into her being Mukuro 2.0 he’s known to just be eerily in the know of everything going on even when he’s not there. this would be a great way of her matching that aspect of him and possibly surpassing it.

Racism on PokeFarm Q
So! This is gonna be a long post, so i’ll be putting all of the content below a read more cut. The gist is that the staff of PokeFarm Q are racist and do not give a single fuck about the Indigenous communities, and explicitly stated they will not even attempt to do anything about cultural appropriation. In the past staff members have also voiced their lack of support for the BLM movement. I’ve gathered transcripts and screenshots from the conversation between myself and the member that started this and between myself and staff.
tw for below the cut: ment. of r*pe, ment. of cannibalism, the word wendig*ag repeatedly uncensored, racism ment., cultural appropriation ment.
This morning I came across a user by the name of  TrüêWêndïgø, and they were messaged in regards to their username
ArdenInTheGarden 09/Jun/2020 08:13:03 (1 hour ago) Hey, are you Alqonquin/Anishinaabe? TrüêWêndïgø 09/Jun/2020 08:17:17 (1 hour ago) I am an Algonquian Wendigo if that is what you are asking. Why? ArdenInTheGarden 09/Jun/2020 08:20:10 (1 hour ago) Figured I'd ask. There a lot of non-Natives that use the term for Wendig*ag trivially, and I promised nA friends that if I saw it I'd check on it, and to help try and deter its usage TrüêWêndïgø 09/Jun/2020 08:23:39 (1 hour ago) I am kinda obsessed with the Wendigo, so I read about them a lot. I am Australian, so if I have gotten this wrong in any way, I would like to correct myself. I hope I am using it correctly ArdenInTheGarden 09/Jun/2020 08:26:59 (1 hour ago) Ahh, let me help you out then! They're, like, NOT something to mess with. They're feared, through and through, to the point where speaking or even writing the name is forbidden (which is why it's usually censored). They're not able to be befriended or tamed or worked with; they are the pure form of evil distilled into a physical being, often from greed or due to cannibalism! They're definitely not the kind of thing to be revered or messed with, they're just evil, straight up. I don't think you can change your username, but I'd discourage you from using it in the future, especially as a non-Native TrüêWêndïgø 09/Jun/2020 08:30:46 (1 hour ago) I have already accepted death because I got a wendigo oc. I only discovered the creature becuase my oc was made before I learnt about them. My unusual deerman with the taut skin and a thirst for blood. I apologise if I upset anyone with my username. ArdenInTheGarden 09/Jun/2020 08:34:52 (56 minutes ago) Fwiw the, like, "fanon" (not the right term but you know what I mean?) depiction of them has no root in any of the beliefs? No one really knows where that came from (except, like, white people trying to steal things that aren't theirs and mainstream religious figures for their own gain) So your OC can very well just be an angry bloodthirsty deer man that isn't infringing on First Nations beliefs and appropriating from a closed belief system not open to outsiders. I doubt you meant any harm, but I'd STRONGLY encourage you to not use the term or name in the future TrüêWêndïgø 09/Jun/2020 08:43:15 (47 minutes ago) I mean, I didn't try to steal anything, I just think the creature is awesome, kinda like the Sirenhead thing. I love to learn about mythology and legends. I think the only problem is that I've used the term Wendigo too much, and once again, I am sorry for that. I respect wishes and all that, but me learning about the creature and having my oc being a Wendigo kinda helped me through bad times. I like to create art [stories or drawings] keeps me happy. Again, sorry, but I would like to continue using the term. Only because of an oc. I understand how disresptectful I am, and I understand if you don't like this, but I'm not trying to upset anyone. ArdenInTheGarden 09/Jun/2020 08:50:10 (40 minutes ago) "but please sir, that's my comfort cultural appropriation and misuse of First Nations beliefs". Like,,,yeah, it is really disrespectful. You're using it wrong, and it's not open to you, and you can't use it. Comparing it to Sirenhead is also REALLY disrespectful? Like, you're taking a sacred piece of a belief system and equating it to a shitty Internet monster :/ I obviously can't force you but you're wrong and you're well aware that you are, and you're being selfish and unkind :// you need to stop, and I've been really nice about this and handling it because I know Natives are tired of having to do it, but please do not mistake my kindness and composure as a sign you can continue because you cannot.
Unfortunately I was unable to get screenshots of this conversation before my account was locked. Screenshots of the rest are available.
I filed a support ticket with the staff regarding it, which received no response
Tumblr media
About an hour later I was greeted with this error, stating my account had been locked indefinitely for harassment and violation of the PG rule
Tumblr media
I filed a second support ticket in order to appeal my account being locked and give an explanation to the staff. The following is the conversation between myself and Eltafez
It's 4:30 in the morning so forgive my ineloquence.
My language might have been slightly harsh in PMs with TrueWend*go, but they were violating the rules and have an inappropriate username and are flagrantly disregarding the racist roots their actions have. The Native community in every part of the world has faced consistent harassment and dealt with their culture being slandered, torn apart, erased, and what was left being stolen by people to use as a fun culture symbol or as a "sPoOkY mYtH". They are glorifying a being that is rooted entirely in evil and is the embodiment of the worst a person is capable of. They have created an identity around a creature of cannibalism, of r*pe, of greed, and of violence. They disregarded the polite explanations of the ramifications of their actions and the benefit of the doubt that they did not know what they were doing. By locking my account for this, you are sending the clear message that you care more for not rocking the boat than defending Native belief systems. As a US resident, I am already witnessing the brutal effects of silencing those speaking out against racism. You are aligning yourselves with oppressors. I will agree that my defense was perhaps overzealous. Moderators on many other sites I have been on have failed entirely in the past to defend the Native community and I was frightened this case would be the same and reacted strongly. I am still afraid this is the case as I am the one punished and they are, at last checked, still free to continue. Please unlock my account. If I am unavailable on the PMs, I can be reached at [REDACTED] for further discussion.
Eltafez — 09/Jun/2020 12:21 The staff of PFQ do not condone or support any form of racism. In fact, the team is comprised of people living all over the world. Quite a few among us (myself included) are from a different culture and/or race. You're offended by a name - I'd like to counter that by saying you're offending the staff team by accusing us of something we're not. Cultural appropriation is something we cannot (and will not) enforce due to the sheer magnitude of it. You see books, movies, games - everywhere really, that handle mythical creatures and even real gods (take Egypt, Greece, Rome, ... to name a few). Like human beings, they develop and change over time. We can't lock someone for having the name Anubis or Iuno because there once existed a civilization that coined these names or terms. There's a public beach called "Wendigo Beach Resort" - if the term is so inappropriate, then why is it called that? The user you reported has done nothing wrong - our rules, as they're written, have not been broken. The site is British and it follows British laws. You, however, have broken them by harassing the user and mentioning words that are actually inappropriate in the English language. We are fine with people spreading awareness, but it stops when they try to force their own beliefs unto others.
The name of W"ndigo Beach is actively being fought by the Native community. It's not the "gotcha!" you think it is. The term is used (inappropriately) by garbage human beings who have gotten away with it and will continue to do so because of people like you who will never uphold any kind of justice for anyone but themselves. You have failed. You have failed, and you have defended your failure by attempting to deflect it. This is not the same as having the name of Old Gods. This is having a name equivalent to celebrating the lynching of the African American community. This is a name equivalent to saying "I support Nazis". This is a name that is, at its core, supporting pure evil. Your staff may be "diverse" but it is obviously still filled with narrow minded individuals who will step on the nA community to try and boost themselves. I am saddened. I am disgusted. I hope none of you are in any real position of authority around children because you are teaching them to do that which the British have always done: destroy, disregard, deflect. You have failed, and will continue to do so until you are capable of looking past your own biases to realize that you are wrong and you are disgusting in your defense of the status quo instead of justice.
Eltafez — 09/Jun/2020 18:06 Since it doesn’t look like your mind is going to change, I’ll do us both a favor and bid you a good day.
Gargle my dick and balls
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And thus ended all communication with staff
Don’t let them get away with this, and don’t let them get away with thinking that they can do whatever they like (or nothing) without any consequence. Idleness is complicity, and they are sending the dangerous message that racism is tolerated. “We don’t support racism in any form” and “we’re not gonna do anything about cultural appropriation tho” cannot co-exist.

Katara!
KATARA KATARA KATARA
why I like them
oh god where do i even start. katara just contains so many multitudes - she's sweet and feminine and caring and attentive but she's never reduced to just that, she's never just 'the girl', she's also allowed to get mad, to be petty, to laugh at her brother, to be headstrong and stubborn, to express vulnerability, to cry and to laugh, to make ridiculous facial expressions and *be* very expressive. she's dealing with a lot of trauma not simply from the loss of her mother but that loss represents also how her tribe have been decimated by the fire nation, how she's the last waterbender, how all this pressure exists on her shoulders (but also pride, but also determination, to bring it back) and that is expressed subtly throughout the series with the same depth and love that male characters are afforded with regard to their respective traumatic experiences. and despite all this she never tries to stop making the world good? She's always pushing for change, she's always wanting to make things better, she's relentless and doesn't give up when it comes to her vision for a better world... she has such a big heart. and that coexists with a deep anger in her, and deep hurt. Not to make an ocean metaphor so early on but she's as deadly and deep as the ocean but she chooses to be kind and warm and that's so powerful.
why i don't
honnestly while katara's instincts to mother people are a sad symptom of how she was forced to grow up to soon and automaically asigns herself a role of emotional responsibility she has mixed feelings about, i know that if katara tried to mother me, i would be annoyed. but that sounds more like a me problem.
favourite episode
oh it's either the episode where she beats the fucking shit out of pakku or it's the southern raiders. the first one because it's so gratifying to see how she's grown and developed as a bender and really come into her own. the second because... god i love how *messy* the southern raiders is, and it really taps into what i love about katara - she's flawed, she runs off on an ill-thought out revenge mission with zuko, she's got a great capability for darkness as she quite seriously considers murdering a man she has every right to loathe and to kill - but she chooses against it, in the end. it would not be right for her, if not him. she chooses what's right for her in the end.
favourite season
I'm gonna be a wee bit controversial and say book 1 had the best conception of katara's arc from student to master and really saw her grow and flourish, from someone yelling at her brother' oafish prejudice to a real master, that really solidified her as an idealist and presented that as the strength that is, that showed her struggling with petty jealousy of aang's progress and had her stumble in ways that made her character comeplling and interesting - like what an introduction to her character! book 2 had some fantastic moments but i can't think of anything particularly remarkable about hee character arc - largely because it tied into aang's romantic arc i think at this point. book 3 had some absolutely fantastic moments (scam queens katara and toph!! painted lady!! southern raiders!! the final agni kai) that really shone but also book 3 lays a lot of groundwork for fanon i hate (e.g. katara as the mom friend - wish that headcanon would die tbh)
favourite line
fuck there's a lot of good ones but my underrated fave is when sokka says he's kissed a girl before but she's never met her and katara says 'Who? Gran-gran? I've met gran-gran' and it's bruuutaaall
but my favourite serious line is 'I will never ever give up on people who need me'. powerful.
favourite outfit
water tribe anything!! and i actually think her book one/book two braids are her best hair. underrated katara hair. personally she looks just adorable in her parka in the flashback to when she was like. eight.
OTP
katara/personal fulfilment
katara/happiness
katara/fulfilling her goals and dreams
katara/loving minor background character who is never named
there's some ships i like in AU situations - yuetara is actually one i lov, especially with waterbender yue, i just love the whole sea/moon thing as well as katara and yue rebelling in loud/quiet ways, being girlfriends who refuse to have their lives defined by the expectations of older men, who have a great sense of duty towards their nations and won’t let gendered expectations stop them.
and most of you know i like the messy drama of katara/azula in a lighter AU situation where they're like, school or academic rivals, and the legacy of imperialism isn’t quite so personal (and azula makes better choices, obviously), but it’s not as much as i “ship” them as i just find the potential dynamic interesting, they’re both driven by a sense of duty for their home, it’s just that means *very* different things depending if you’re SWT or FN.
none of them are OTPs though - they’re more just fun thought experiments
brotp
katara & sokka - absolutely love their sibling dynamic its amazing. both have been impacted negatively by the shit in their lives and are not always dealing with it in functional ways but theyre there for each other, through thick and thin, always have each other's backs, they roast each other and bicker and sometimes make stupid decisions and sometimes lash out but at the end of the day their love pulls through, they’re able to work past those conflicts.
katara & aang - honestly while i feel kataang was just so poorly executed in the show (listen guys I just can’t after ember island players, i know that was a bad episode, but i can’t) & i cant imagine katara wanting to leave the south pole after the war for long spells (it would have to be long distance love, lots of profound and heartfelt letters and occasional visits, if anything, but i dont know if that’s what katara wants or needs? so maybe it wouldn’t pan out?), but regardless, i really do think these two had a life-changing friendship where each really represented hope for each other, that's at the core of it, they both truly believe in each other, and inspired each other. katara & aang good.
a headcanon
chief katara anyone?? chief katara?!?!
oh oh OH i also think that katara, while primarily a combat bender during the war, actually takes to healing a lot more after the show and gets proper healing training at some point with the help of a trained medical expert and maybe yugoda. tbh i feel like the show was a bit dismissive of healing as an ability - i feel like having that is *extremely* useful in any combat situation, you always have a medic on hand - but i understand why katara, who wanted to be recognised as powerful regardless of her gender, and wanted to hold herself in a fight alongside sokka & aang, pushed for combat waterbending training because that is what 'powerful' looks like to her in the moment. obviously katara is capable of incredible healing feats (see: saving aang) but i think given we see her as a healer in lok (not a decision i necessarily disagree with) would mean a shift in focus. i think katara actually comes to realise she likes healing a great deal, but really she excels in all aspects of waterbending and is the south’s most respected master who helped rejuvenate southern style waterbending
unpopular opinion
the main reason people think katara is straight is because we see her have very few meaningful interactions with other girls outside of toph. ATLA as a show is a bit romance obsessed, and very heteronormative in that regard, and so interactions with minor characters almost always line up with a potential crush for sokka or katara, and later, zuko (suki, haru, jet, yue, song, jin....). we rarely see katara build friendships with other girls and it’s such a damn shame.
(anyway bi katara for life)
a wish
the version of the puppetmaster we saw was actually fire nation propaganda, i feel like katara would have felt deep compassion for a prisoner of war and after maybe some clashes, would have agreed to help smuggle her out of the fire nation and secure passage home for hama, and tried to assure her that she still has a place there. the treatment of hama in that episode was awful (but also hama was written to be almost cartoonishly evil, very much an evil witch in her cottage in the spooky woods? like the whole horror movie / spooky story opening was such a big tell) and tbh i reject the thesis that we saw ‘katara’s dark potential’ in that episode completely, or that bloodbending as a power is inherently dark, or katara’s use of it to stop hama ‘corrupted’ her. I feel like katara might feel this way as a teenager perhaps but with time (she can be a little black and white at times), and especially with more training as a healer, i think she might realise that’s not the case, she’ll realise that she was right to try and oppose hama, her elder (she was lashing out rather than really trying to oppose the fire nation), and it wasn’t a betrayal of her or her beliefs, but also her use of bloodbending wasn’t wrong or evil inherently at all? and maybe she’d find ways to use it for healing purposes? anyway my wish is that, i like the idea that they meet again, speak about their differences, reconcile a little / come to an understanding, and katara learns more from hama again
an oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen
anything where katara’s character is reduced to a comforter or a healing device for a man and his trauma. particularly zuko. (they don’t have that dynamic in canon thankfully, zuko would never, zuko respects her too much)
5 words to describe them:
idealistic, hard-working, powerful, headstrong, kind
my nickname for them:
chief. or comrade. :^)

️ + aerzora go
✒️ + a ship = summer talks about them. / selectively accepting.
this takes me a long time to get to the point of actually talking about the ship, i’m not sorry.
ah yozora and aeris. i feel like...they scratch an itch that none of aeris ‘canon’ ships ( and even her fanon ships ) do for me: they have depth that’s satisfying to me. obviously, that probably seems like an ‘unfair’ comparison due to the fact that this is roleplay - we’ve essentially created this ship and can do whatever we want. however, i feel like zeri.th and cleri.th at their base level are meant to be very ‘cute’ and tropey ( yes, there’s angst and death but the majority of their interactions can be summed up that way ) which isn’t inherently bad. i’ve grown to like both of these ships despite having my separate issues with them ( although with cle.rith, it was more so its fans than the actual ship itself ). for instance, i don’t like CC aeris or how her original character was undermined in that game. it’s hard for me to see the depth in a ship where i feel like one half of it was essentially watered down / heavily altered to support it ( again, this is just my opinion / how i bluntly feel about it ). overall, between the shipping wars, the constant essays about what is and isn’t canon, and the fact that cl.oti/zeri.th/cl.erith are all extremely common ‘types’ of romances in FF games, etc. it has just made me somewhat...bored of it all despite still liking and writing content for them.
it doesn’t help that aeris, for whatever reason, also isn’t ‘shipped’ as much with other characters outside of clou.d, ti.fa, and za.ck compared to how those three are with other characters so there’s not like...a taste of something else? the next person outside of that trio is probably seph.iroth ( and i’ll admit that i was super into sep.haeris as a teenager and i might still get a little emo seeing fanart of them ) but even then, that was never a hugely popular ship. i think people are also more vocally opposed to it now? although i feel like weirder / even more questionable ships such as sef.ikura and tse.rith that are popular / don’t get as much heat which is...strange. anyway, while sep.haeris was/is a thing, there’s not a lot of depth there either from what i remember as a teen. their relationship is usually written in 1). an au entirely, 2). an OG rewrite where se.phiroth isn’t crazy, 3). a fic where they come back post-death and sep.hiroth has to ‘redeem’ himself, or 4). a fic where seph.iroth is written as he canonically is throughout the OG and their relationship is toxic. this is somewhat reductive but this is usually the categories they’re in and in every one, aeris is typically written more so how she is in CC/AC/KH: innocent, pure, naive, the one who ‘believes’ in seph.iroth, his light, whatever.
aeris is often written as the emotionally supportive one to her partners which is honestly a too common role with many love interests in FF romances. again on its own, it’s fine but it becomes exhausting when it’s a repeated pattern, especially when the male characters are never written to be as emotionally supportive or caring back until like...a female character suffers, is hurt, or literally dies. the point of all this is that it provides a lot of context regarding how i write aeris in her interactions with yozora - some of its intentional / i’m actively aware of it when writing while some of it are things i just kind of realized while writing all of this. for instance, she doesn’t like him at first in my opinion ( and the feeling is probably mutual ) so there isn’t that instant ‘bonding’ process that cleri.th and zeri.th had over like...a span of a day. they have to actually grow to like each other while traveling together - even if it’s just as friends - so that it matters when she dies. i want their relationship to feel ‘earned’ so that when they’re finally in a place where they’re happy, they’ll actually both did the emotional work to get there rather than one side pushing the other to ‘do better’.
i don’t think we’ve ever decided ‘when’ they first officially meet (ex. the OG, remake, some other timeline, etc. ) but for the sake of this post, i’m going to say the remake. i don’t subscribe to the idea that aeris knows everything like seph.iroth does; i think she gets visions like cloud does but is able to better piece things together due to ‘what’ she is. so if her and yozora were to meet in the remake timeline, a timeline where aeris - a naturally guarded person who typically doesn’t tell people things until she has to - is even more guarded and secretive due to actively being aware of the fact that she’s going to die that that’s not going to be a great mix. canonically speaking, one of the few times OG aeris fully opens up to someone by choice is during her last conversation with cloud in his dreams. that conversation basically gets her killed ( sephiroth finds out where she’s going due to his connection with cloud ). basically, there is a real possibility that aeris would leave yozora to take care of meteor / sephiroth without a word; not even giving him that lasting memory of her like with what OG aeris did with cloud - even if she had already figured out that he had began to grow feelings for her.
as terrible for yozora as that might be: i like that.
i like female characters who are good and kind but are also allowed to make shitty decisions, be uncaring at times, etc. because that’s being human. aeris is a complicated person. she has a lot of layers that canon only touches on but will never commit to because they’re boring ( ex. her guarded nature and issues with abandonment, her friendly nature vs her loneliness, how she tends to not reciprocate the energy she gives out to people, how she was literally raised in a lab and has her abusers - that she has to play nice with - constantly stalking her, etc. ). to circle this back to the start, i guess that’s why the fighting over who aeris ‘loved’ in the end, whether it was za.ck or clo.ud, is silly to me. these men....truly don’t know her at all? how could they? she knew clo.ud for literally two weeks canonically and met za.ck when she was like...16. he didn’t even know one of the most important things about her: her own heritage. how can either one of them be the love of her life when they’ve only seen one side of her - a side that she wanted them to see at that?
it might take literal lifetimes but yozora will get to see those different sides of her as unpretty, uncomfortable, and even hurtful as those sides of her may be at times - yet he will choose to love her anyway and she’ll do the same with him. that hits:tm: different.
tl;dr: there is no tl;dr. read it all or keep scrolling.

Let’s talk about Hazbin Hotel
So, I finally sat down and watched Hazbin Hotel. I’d heard so much about it and felt the need to launch myself headfirst into having my own opinions about it instead of just listening to other people talking about it. This is gonna be a long post, so I’m gonna put it behind a neat little read more. Please note that this is coming from someone who genuinely enjoys adult humour and edgy humour and themes. I’ve got no problem with something that’s all swearing and raunchy jokes. It just needs to be done right.
Point 1 - The Plot The plot is describes as the Princess of Hell trying to open a new hotel to rehabilitate sinners so they don’t get exterminated during the yearly heavenly extermination to deal with Hell’s overpopulation problems. This plot is quickly undone through a few things that anyone can notice during the first viewing. 1 - Overpopulation? WHAT population? The scenery is most often noticeably devoid of any signs of life, outside of when background characters are called for. The scene where Charlie’s doing her news presentation is the most notable example of background characters. After this scene, we see almost nobody outside of the main cast and those weird little egg things. There are a few throwaway demons but outside of that, the streets are devoid of people. There aren’t even the corpses we had just seen during that opening scene. 2 - Charlie may as well be a total nobody what with all the power being the Princess of Hell holds. Just look at how the other characters treat her. You’d think the Princess of Hell would have some kind of benefit that would sway people towards agreeing with this whole idea. Instead, she gets mocked by just about everyone for reasons I can only guess involve winning her sympathy points from the audience. 3 - At no point does she give any proof that redemption would work. She basically says, “Hey guys! I hate seeing you all die, so I have this idea that has no backing evidence, that may or may not work, to try and get you guys into Heaven! Let me sing a song about it where I insult you all!”
Point 2 - Presentation I applaud the animators. Must’ve been hard, especially for Charlie’s overly fast song that really didn’t need to be nightcored, or literally any time Angel Dust was on-screen. Frame by frame. No rigs. All those stripes. All those colours that blend if you stare at them too hard or squint even slightly while watching. All that unnecessarily constant movement. It’s no wonder the thing took four bloody years to animate. Outside of animation, there are too many unneeded details and not enough needed details. Seriously. 1 - The turf war. We didn’t need this. We didn’t need this at all. If you take out the entire opening to it and the entire actual fight scene here, the episode still flows smoothly and we get the same amount of information and worldbuilding. In a pilot/first episode, you should only give the audience necessary details. Leave them wanting more, yes, but make sure they actually know what they’re getting into from the first episode. Make every scene count. Make it mean something. Don’t just shove every detail you can think of together and call it a day, especially if you don’t actually give the audience much information from it. 2 - Why is Hell overpopulated? Why isn’t Heaven? Why can angels go from Heaven to Hell, but demons can’t go from Hell to Heaven? Why does nobody care about being redeemed if Hell is so overpopulated that Angels annually come down and kill people because of it? Why does everyone treat the Princess of Hell like she’s worthless? Why doesn’t Angel Dust know about Alastor if they got into hell within 10 years of each other? Where is this supposed overpopulation problem? Would redemption even work in the first place? Why should I care about most of these characters (who are mostly complete jerks with no redeeming qualities other than “PROTAGONIST”, especially when two of the fan favourites repeatedly sexually assault other characters and, in one case, is both sexist and racist at one point)? Why are there turf wars? I should not be having to ask these questions. Don’t hold the audience’s hand, but don’t leave every single question you present in the show unanswered. Some of the questions presented make absolute sense to leave unanswered. Why does Alastor want to help with the hotel? Why are characters like Vaggie and Niffty, who do nothing all that bad, in Hell? These are questions that make total sense to leave unanswered for now. 3 - What crime is too terrible to be redeemed for? Charlie seems to think that literally everyone can be redeemed. That means murderers, rapists, abusers, tormentors... Certainly her song holds some kind of key to figuring it out! “Inside of every creepy hatchet-wielding maniac” Hmm... Okay... “All of you cretins, sluts and losers, sexual deviants and boozers” Uh... “So, all your cartoon porn addictions, vegan rants, psychic predictions Ancient Roman crucifixions end right here All you monsters, thieves and crazies, cannibals and crying babies" Oh... Also, did she imply that mental illness, alcoholism, drug dependency, plant-based diets/lifestyles, rabies and enjoyment of sex were sins in that song?
Point 3 - Edgy for the sake of edgy Hazbin Hotel tries to be an adult cartoon, but comes off as something a mentally disturbed teenager wrote during their emo/scene phase. 1 - The swearing and sex jokes. Oh boy. I’ve worked with children under the age of 15 who swear and crack sex jokes better than the adults in this show. The swearing and sex jokes are the only reasons this show couldn’t be aired as a Cartoon Network show aimed at edgy teenagers. It’s so poorly done that it in and of itself takes away from the quality of the show itself. Also, we have a character who’s name is an actual sex joke itself. Vaggie, full name Vagatha - a lesbian sex worker, of course. Fun fact for those who don’t know, but all of her previous character drafts had her name as some form of joke on the word vagina. This isn’t an accident, this is blatant and intentional. Also, here’s a pro tip for you! You can make an adult-oriented show without having swearing, slurs and sex jokes taking up a solid third or more of your script. 2 - The... “Representation”. Yes, Hazbin Hotel has LGBT+ characters! Yes, it has biracial and Latina characters! Charlie is bi, Vaggie is a Latina lesbian, Angel Dust is a gay man, Alastor is ace and biracial, Husk is pan, Niffty is Japanese (YIKES). Except none of it actually matters. No, really. Vivziepop was all like, “btw you can ship w/e, idc! also, i rlly like the fanon version of human alastor (who is whiter than marshmallow fluff even though he’s supposed to be half black)! :)” and threw all that out the window because... Who knows at this point. Now, if you look at the connected series, Helluva Boss, you get Moxie and Millie - an extremely obvious and loving couple. In Hazbin Hotel, you get Charlie and Vaggie who you probably couldn’t tell were a couple without somebody telling you that in the first place, what with all the loveydovey-ness going on with them. In fact, the biggest hint we even get is literally one line. “Life ain’t a musical, hun.” But then again, I’d be more apt to believe Charlie and Vaggie are friends, or Vaggie is pining after Charlie. Also, Charlie is a really bad girlfriend! She lets Vaggie get abused by practically the entire cast without so much as a single word in her defense and ignores everything Vaggie says. It came as no surprise when I remembered hearing about how the only reason these two are a couple is because one of the people on the team thought they were during storyboarding and Vivziepop just went with it. Also, fun fact, Vaggie fits both the angry lesbian and fiery Latina stereotypes. Charlie fits the stereotype for the bisexual cheater, what with how she seems to actually like Alastor more than her own bloody girlfriend. Alastor is canonically ace because he’s too full of himself to be with anyone else. Speaking as somebody who’s ace... WHAT?! As much as I don’t like Charlastor, it’s partially more popular than Chaggie because Vivziepop actually made them act like a couple for an entire musical number. Also, he’s annoying. He not only kept telling Vaggie to smile (heck you dude), he also smacked her butt, which is a form of sexual assault, people. This was all played for laughs, along with Vaggie’s (actually very reasonable) anger. Niffty is Japanese. A yellow-skinned demon who’s boy crazy and obsessed with cleaning... Big yikes. Finally, Angel Dust. The kinky gay man porn star/drag queen/drug addict/prostitute who verbally sexually assaulted two guys. Where do I begin. When it came to this guy, Vivziepop must’ve been like, “Imma throw every stereotype for gay men on this guy and call it a character!” If you look a Helluva Boss again, you get Stolas, who verbally sexually assaults Blitzo over the phone and also cheated on his wife with him in the first place, so this isn’t a one-off. Also, he was originally AFAB, so that whole line about “Why are you all women?” is more than a little heinous and in extremely poor taste.
In conclusion, this show is terrible. Everything about it. It needs some serious reworking, because as it stands, it’s really truly not that great of a creation.
tl;dr: Needs a lot of work and “ThEy’Re In HeLl!!1!!one!!!eleven!!!11″ isn’t even remotely an excuse for the genuine problems in it. Remember, at least one actual human being on Earth, not in Hell, wrote this garbage fire. Also, the animators deserve a higher wage than whatever they’re getting to deal with these designs. I shudder just thinking about animating them, with or without a rig.

A short Excerpt (500 words):
The deadly silence inside the car made Peter gulp in the nervousness inside his throat as Clint drove through the lonely forest road with Scott riding shotgun-making sad smileys on the foggy window- and Loki sitting at the back.
Finally mustering all his courage, Peter shifted forward in his seat.
“Can we put on some mus-”
“No,” Clint shut him down.
Loki, who was sitting stoically with his arms across his chest, deviated his glare towards Clint, who visibly felt a change in temperature around him, finally speaking. “Don’t take your falsely routed frustration out on a kid. He just wants to lighten the mood.” His dead yet smooth tone made Clint twitch for a second.
“Alright!” Peter announced, “okay! Stop! Aunt May says you have to think about what you’re going to say in anger because what you spew in the heat of the moment, you can never take back.”
“Oh, I never intended to tak-”
“Mr Barton, please shut up for a moment, would you?”
Three pairs of eyes shot wide open at the words the spiderling just spoke.
“And Mr Lang can you please stop wallowing in self-pity like a twelve-year-old?”
Scott’s hurt face was interrupted too.
“Y/N just found out something life changing! She was waiting for Mr and Mrs Stark to leave so that no one could stop her when she did. How hurt was she that she did not inform even one of us? And you all still have the audacity to fight amongst yourselves about your own problems. Yes, I know Mr Barton you are pissed at Loki for what he did but honestly now that’s none of your business. And Scott, oh my God, please, stop. Cassie knows how much you admire Mr Stephen and that’s the only reason she loves Mr Strange.”
Stephen: I know for a fact someone somewhere called me Mr Strange just now. *blank expression* *deep inhale*
“And Mr Loki. Tone down the sass and apologise to her the moment you see her. Seriously guys, get your shit together,” Peter finally concluded.
A silent moment passed in the car in which everyone contemplated Peter’s words when Scott’s brows suddenly constricted themselves and he looked in the rearview mirror towards the spiderling. “How many of those red cocktails did you have?”
Peter turned towards Scott’s reflection, feeling the rest of the eyes waiting for his answer, making him move uncomfortably as he tried to clear his throat.
“Seven…” He finally answered.
Clint and Scott arched their brows in amusement.
“…teen,” came a whisper.

Note
I find myself more worried about how people will react to my book, which has an anti-torture part, than focusing on the actual writing. I have already been in situations where I was dismissed as misinformed or overly empathetic in favor of torture working to accomplish this or that. Or told my credentials weren’t good enough, even by people who have none. How can I deal with this preoccupation? How can I deal with readers who might argue with or dismiss me? How do I avoid seeming preachy?
It’snormal to worry about how people will react to your story. Especiallywhen you’re tackling a difficult topic.
Toa certain extent I think that worry is a good thing.I think it drives us to research, to double check, to make sure ofwhat we’re writing. In my experience as a writer that leads tobetter stories.
ButI understand that it can also get to a point where it starts to feelcrippling and impedes your ability to actually write.
Tomy mind your first question is pretty distinct to the other two. Thelast two questions seem to be about dealing with readers’ responseswhereas the first question seems more focused on that permanentwriting problem: getting words on the damned page.
Whichcan feel a lot more difficult when you’re tackling something heavyfor the first time.
Findinga way to get writing really depends on how you write.
Ipersonally found that setting myself targets was useful. I also foundsetting time aside to write was useful.
Butnot everyone works in the same way. I don’t think you should try toforce yourself to write in my ‘style’ or to my work patterns ifthey’re not effective or helpful for you.
Thebest way to get through that anxiety is to write.
Evenif it’s bad. Even if you need to change it later. Even if you endup re-writing it a dozen times.
Write.
Ipersonally despiseediting. I feel like it kills my stories and like every re-writtenword is akin to pulling out teeth.
NowI know a lot of writers swear by editing and need multiple re-writesto get a story the way they want it. That’s perfectly OK, it’sjust another approach to writing.
Buteven if you’re like me and editing feels abysmal giveyourself permission to mess up.
That’show you learn.
Giveyourself permission to try out the scenes a couple of time. Giveyourself permission to make a mess of it.
Evenif you end up scraping the first hundred drafts you will have learntand the next time will be better.
Insome ways it’s like baking bread: the more you do it the more yeastcultures in the kitchen thrive and the better the next batch becomes.
Believeme it does get betterand it gets easier.
I’vebeen writing and making up stories since I was a child. I’ve beentrying to write seriously (though not necessarily professionally) forabout twenty years. And I’ve only recently started to feel asthough I’m happy with what I produce more often then not.
Ittakes time. It takes practice. It takes hard work. And that anxietywill never go away completely.
Butit can be used like fuel to drive you forward rather than like aweight on your back slowing you down.
Whenit comes to credentials- I’m honestly unsure who doescount as having credentials in this field.
Icertainly don’t. I have no training. My profession is completelyunrelated to human rights or abuse/injury of any kind. I’ve neverworked with survivors.
Ireally do just read a lot about awful stuff.
Butholistic programs on torture don’t really exist right now.
Kara’swork on slavery is groundbreaking in part for bringing in hisexperience in economics. But he isn’t a psychologist and hiswriting constantly references the idea that slaves are obedientbecause they’retortured rather than because they know perfectly well that constantdisobedience will get them killed.
Karahas probably not read Rejali.
Cobain, whose work as a journalist interviewing both survivors and torturersis incredibly useful, alsoparrots torture apologia and takes what torturers saytorture does at face value.
Thepeople publishing histories of torture and of law don’t seem toconsult with the people working with survivors and vice versa.
Andthe charity workers/activists don’t even seem to talk to eachother.
Thisfield is incredibly divided. I don’t think there areholistic credentials that cover everything.
Butthe thing is-
Wedon’t need to rely on our own credentials towrite fiction when there is awealth of publications by people with diverse experiences andcredentials out there who we can quote.
I’mnot a neuroscientist. So I reference O’Mara. I’m not a socialscientist. So I reference Rejali.
I’mnot a historian and wasn’t in Algeria during the Franco-Algerianwar. But I can still read what Fanon said about it and what Allegsaid about it. I can compare that to the statistics on torture duringthat period Rejali built up and presented.
Andfrom these things I can draw conclusions.
Therewill always be people who will tell you you are wrong.
Therewill always be people who will dismiss expert opinion when youpresent it to them.
Fundamentallyyou do not need toconvince everyone. You do not need to justify the idea that tortureis wrong.
Youdo not need to debate everyone who argues in support of torture. Youcan just give them a reading list.
It’salso important to try and keep things in perspective. I have foundthat there are usually morereaders who will praise your stance then there are readers who willargue with or dismiss it.
Andpet, I’m here as a resource: youcan always send them to me.
Asfor being preachy well personally I found the best antidote to thatwas listening to survivors.
Readingwhat Alleg, Fela, Searle and the combined anonymous survivors inMonroe’s ADarkling Plainhad to say showed me a more powerful ways to express thesesentiments.
There’sanger and wit and jet-dark humour in what survivors say. There’sstubbornness and rare kinds of courage.
There’snothing wrong with capturing that.
Listento Bobi Wine for a moment here.
Thisinterview was within about a week of Wine being tortured. ‘Ofcourse I’m going back to Uganda.’
We’reso used to anti-torture narratives being- taken from a formula thatcharities use. It’s a narrative that’s at a remove. That talksdown. That states ‘this is wrong, this doesn’t work’ but rarelystops to talk about why.
Wecan’t just rely on that formula. It hasgiven us some victories but it is foolish to think we can stick tojust one strategy and keep making gains.
There’snothing preachy about what survivors say for themselves.
Andthere’s nothing wrong with listening to what they say and trying tochannel some of that energy into your writing. Alleg’s demands fordignity. Fela’s grief and rage. Searle’s morbid humour and theway he used it to skewergender stereotypes.
Thereis power and sincerity there that rarely makes it into fiction. Evenas an echo.
Putsurvivors at the centre and let those characters speak the waysurvivors do in real life. Don’t be afraid of sincerity. Don’t beafraid of anger. Don’t be afraid of something seeming too ‘extra’or unrealistic.
Felamarched his murdered mother’s funeral procession past the militarybarracks that was probablyresponsible for the attack that killed her. He left the coffin on thesteps and wrote a song about it.
BobiWine went back to Uganda, is performing again and is still expressingthe views he was tortured for.
Weare all capable of incredible things. Remember that. Channel that.
Andgive yourself permission to take time getting that right. It willbe hard work. But I promise the results will be worth the effort.

@thatclumsysartanisbi reblogged this ask meme and instead of reblogging it and waiting for someone to ask me, I’m just gonna do it with the OT3 unprompted, because I feel like it.
Who would win tickle wars: I have two main impressions about this. First, between Haplo and Marit, one of them is completely immune to being tickled and the other one is completely and utterly ticklish, but I’m not sure which one is which. I’m inclined to say Marit’s the ticklish one, though. Either way, Alfred’s about in the middle. Second, a tickle fight with them would turn very violent very quickly. My mother WILL kick us in the face if we try to touch her feet. Does any of this actually answer the question? No, it does not. Moving on. (actually, my real answer is that the younger kids would get in on it and end up warring with themselves, making one of THEM the ultimate winner)
Who would draw pictures of the other in their sketchbook: This started as a high school AU thing, but Haplo+drawing is interesting to me? Initially it was cos I figured runes+required art credit for high school. I don’t think he’d really be interested in it, necessarily, but he IS a pretty fast learner in canon and he has the attention to detail for it, I think. Like, didn’t his journals have at least a few diagrams and things? Anyway, I just imagine Haplo sketching things on blank pieces of paper when he’s bored in Alfred’s study or between lessons with the kids or things like that. Not great, but better than either of the other two.
Who would holds hands while walking: Haplo is a chronic hand holder. It’s canon, basically. [Haplo has two hands dot meme]
Who would gives cheek kisses: I feel like all of them would, but I’m gonna give this one to Marit. Cheek kisses, along with pats on the shoulder and shoulder nudges, are a quick and easy way to show physical affection; just something quick that an onlooker might miss if they weren’t paying attention.
Who would start a snowball fight: [Is once again haunted by the fact that none of the worlds seem to have snow except MAYBE the High Realms in Arianus] Uh if I have to pick one I’m gonna vote it’s Alfred demonstrating what he used to see kids doing in Arianus after they made it snow there (assuming we’re going by my one fanon that the Sartan used to do that) and then the Patryns take it WAY too seriously.
Who would slip the most on a date to go ice skating: Is this even a question? I am terrified at the idea of Alfred + knife shoes + slick surface.
Who leaves letters in the others’ locker: HIGH SCHOOL AU HIGH SCHOOL AU HIGH SCHOOL AU I’m going to say leaving notes is a very Haplo thing to do. (Partially because Alfred opening his locker and being very surprised to see a piece of paper falling to the ground is very cute, 10/10 do recommend)
Who would bring lunch to school/work for the other: Hng, see this is another thing that I can see all of them doing. I do think Alfred gets food brought to him more often than the other two, because he gets distracted easier (hey @thatclumsysartanisbi that adhd alfred headcanon about hyperfocus). Between Haplo and Marit, Haplo usually does the actual bringing of the food, but that’s mostly because Marit will just delegate the task of bringing Alfred food to either him or one of the kids.
Who would want cuddle at the movie theater date: Alfred would, but would worry about it being too public. Haplo would, and wouldn’t care about the setting. Marit doesn’t care as long as the other two will quit talking about it and let her watch the dang movie.
Who would buy cheezy cliche gifts for each other on holidays: Hm. Alfred, I guess? Apologizing for being silly and cliche, but, well, he has a soft spot for a little cliche.
Who would start an argument about what color curtains they should have at home: Marit and Alfred. I’m going with Marit and Alfred here. Except really, it’s more like Alfred spending more than a little time mulling it over, Marit loudly and vocally Not Caring, except that Alfred’s somehow managed to get Haplo into his dithering too, so then it’s Marit vs Alfred, “it doesn’t matter and I want to go home” vs “just give me a few more minutes to think about this, hm” and it’s not even really a fight because they all agree to just leave it to Alfred pretty easily and just give him a nudge when it starts to take too long again.
Who would remember their anniversary: Alfred is the one to notice and point out that they’ve lived in the Nexus for a year now, shouldn’t they do something to celebrate, maybe just something small, and Haplo and Marit have never really celebrated annual dates like that before. Marit isn’t all that into it and won’t remember anything on her own, though she’ll go along with whatever they’re doing and end up enjoying it, but Haplo actually really likes marking anniversaries and kid’s birthdays and things like that, now that he has them.
Who would blurt out how much they love the other in front of people: Alfred “Unreliable Narrator” Montbank, Mr. “I met a man with a dog” himself, Mr. “I shouldn’t even be acting like I know you but I can’t resist shouting about the Chamber of the Damned stuff”. He would accidentally go on little rambles about the other two. That being said, Haplo is drinking “I love my spouse” juice 100% of the time, post canon, and it shows. Compared to them, Marit seems like the reserved one, but say something bad about Haplo or Alfred in front of her and she’ll be on you like a hawk tbh
Who would offer to wash the others’ back in the shower: Ugh, all of them again? Helping someone wash a kind of quiet, understated show of practical affection that makes me think of something Marit would do, but that goes for Haplo as well. And of course Alfred is all about being helpful too, but I’m pretty sure it’s also lowkey a thirst thing/an Intricate Ritual(tm) for him in a way it isn’t for the other two, because he’s just that repressed. Not that it’s that hard to see through.
Who would post up statuses about the other on facebook: I really really can’t see any of them being all that into social media, but I guess if I had to pick I guess I’d pick Alfred being the classic “Older Person On Facebook Who Doesn’t Quite Get It” trope.
Who would have the others’ picture as their phone background: Haplo. Because I have the phone as heart metaphor from Sherlock of all things in my head, and then I associate Haplo with heart metaphors because dog = heart, and... it makes sense in my brain, okay? So yeah, Haplo has a cute picture he snapped of Alfred and Marit doing something together and not noticing him take the picture. Possibly (probably) with some of the kids in there, too.
Who would take pictures of the other while they’re sleeping: That’s an Alfred thing, if only because I’m still emotional about that quote from Serpent Mage about him watching Haplo sleeping.
Who says I love you: What kind of question is this? They all do?? Haplo says the actual words most often, until he stops feeling proud of himself for managing to say them out loud. Alfred says “I love you” second most often, but when he talks he also uses a lot of little “my dears” and other terms of affection. Marit also says “I love you,” sometimes, but it’s always rarer than either of the other two and all the more special for it. But she’s also gentler when she speaks to the two of them compared to other people, will give and take more teasing from them, all those little things that Marit does for them that she doesn’t do for other people that make them know they’re loved!
