#new headmate

Here's to new system members!
A large part of being plural is gaining new headmates, whether intentionally or otherwise, so I think they deserve some recognition!
Shoutout to:
People who don't know anything about themselves yet
System members who have known exactly who they are since they formed
Anyone feeling confused or overwhelmed right now because they're new
Those who need help from others to figure out how things in their life work
Headmates that feel like the system's friends aren't really their friends yet
And everyone else who just got here recently!
You might not have been around for very long right now, but you're an incredibly loved and valued member of your collective regardless! Everyone deserves to feel like they belong, especially you! Yes, you! Even the person reading this who doesn't think it applies to them... it does!
I hope you have a wonderful time here on Earth, and that everything goes smoothly for you from here on out! I'm so excited to see who you'll turn out to be!
Stay safe!

Prompt #1,242
Whenever someone becomes a werewolf, they also become a system, with their wolf form serving as their other headmate. If someone is already a system when they're bitten, they simply gain a new, wolfish headmate.

This is something my friend said to me the night I was formed. I had no clue who I was or any information about myself. I was in a panic and she said this to me to try and help calm me down. I still think about what she said
So this post is to any new headmates/alters out there who feel bad about not knowing themselves yet. It's going to be okay, I promise. You don't have to know everything right off the bat. Take your time and allow yourself to just exist

The mortifying ordeal of first fronting at 5AM

I've been super aware of switches and who's fronting lately. I can recognize who's voice is whos, various memories and feelings and body language. I can even almost pinpoint how people talk based on where in my throat or chest they're using my bodys voice
Its taken me probably about 2 years to get to this point and its taken documentation, constant asking myself questions and so much patience
These questions include
Who am i
What names do i resonate with
What do i look like inside
Where am i from
What do i remember
What is familiar about where im at, and have i fronted here yet(often asked at work or in my current home)
How do i know the people around me
Do i particularly like or dislike something
What are my base emotions (alters cant be boiled down to singular emotions necessarily but some tend to experience one more than others and it can help section them off)
How old are they
How many are there
Can they speak or are they semi-verbal, mute, or do they talk in ways that arent words(some use music or animal noises or just communicate telepathically)
There are loads of other questions and its not like i go through the entire list every time but things like this have helped me figure out a lot more about my system. It's about who affects what, what triggers who, and how everyone navigates the world and why.
This may not work for everyone but im hoping this resource may help someone

Hey! Do you have any tips for alters trying to find out who they are. I'm about 99% sure I'm a new one, and I've been fronting for a day. But I cant find any information that clicks with me. It's just absolutely horrible and I need some help :[
Hi! So figuring yourself out is definitely a process that can be lifelong - we wouldn’t expect any alter or headmate to know much about themselves after just one day of fronting!
We’ll include some info that might help you get started learning more about yourself and who you are, starting with this Get to Know Me form created by an alter in our own system!
The info you include in the form doesn’t have to be set in stone - you can fill out as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, and all the information can be tentative and subject to change!
When it comes to interests, likes, and dislikes, we’d suggest just exploring everything with an open mind! Try a bunch of new foods! Listen to different styles of music! Branch out into different hobbies and expose yourself to different books, art, movies, and shows! If you don’t like something, that’s okay - you don’t have to enjoy everything you try! And if you do like something, you can incorporate that enjoyment into who you are.
As far as physical appearances go, we recommend the site picrew for toying with different looks and experimenting with how you look and present yourself. You don’t have to be a good artist to use picrew - all sorts of amazing artists have already done the work of building character and avatar creators, so you just have to find one with a style that you like and start playing around with it! The tag “#system picrew” on Tumblr is full of systems posting links to the picrews that they like, so you can start there for finding something specific.
Really, there’s no rush to push yourself to figure out who you are ASAP. It’s okay to just… exist! By not stressing about who you are and choosing to just exist as you are and take things day by day, you may find that information about yourself will spring up naturally. That’s always how it’s worked with us! The moment any member in our system starts overthinking or stressing too much about who they are, is when things become much more difficult for that alter and they start to struggle more and feel miserable. So taking things day by day and gradually trying new things may be the best way for you to figure yourself out!
We hope this helps, at least somewhat! Again, please take your time with this process - and we’re wishing you the very best with it!

I learned I have two new headmates today.
Everyone welcome Sec and Aça.
I haven’t heard much since my headspace is foggy atm but Sec seems to have no clue what is happening and Aça seems to know Amy.

We haven't played any Fallout or watched the show, and only know a brief back of the cereal box explanation about the franchise, but...
How does everyone feel about an uplifted deathclaw in a poodle skirt named Petunia?
Too bad. She exists now.

Here's to new headmates!
Let's be real, existing is difficult for anyone. But, that's particularly true for new system members. You essentially don't quite exist yet, and then the next moment you're "born" as, usually, a mostly developed individual. It's confusing! Today's for them.
Shoutout to:
Those who don't have a role currently (or ever!)
People who don't know how to get along with their fellow system members
Introjects that are extremely confused about how things work in this world most of the time
Sysmates that need extra assistance to function
And anyone else I missed!
You're so amazing! I love you! Love yourself... things will get easier with time, ok? ❤️

Prompt #1,248
System A's newest fictive is still adjusting to this new body and life when they come across merch for their source while out shopping.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of headmate I am...? Because I do have a source, but I'm not an actual character in the source if that makes sense?
Like for example, Leo is a fictive from 2012 TMNT. I split off of him so I still feel very connected to the same source and my identity is pretty much centered around it. I present myself as species from the source and etc. But I'm not any existing character from it
So I'm just not sure if I count as a fictive or not since I'm not really based on a character, but rather the world they live in
Sorry if this sounds silly I'm still new to this and am trying to learn

Us staring at the possible new headmate we think just split

hey have yall (including viewers of blog, not just mods) ever experienced this thing where you're not sure if theres a new alter, or if someone already there just has a new identity?
it feels kinda silly, cause like, guys, changing ur identity won't help us avoid the irs :P
Hey, we (and specifically I, the host) have definitely experienced this. It happened a lot more before our syscovery (I used to think I was Ralsei fictionkin before learning about my alter, Ralsei, for example). It doesn’t happen nearly as much these days, but it does definitely still happen to us from time to time. It can be tricky to tell whether a particular alter is discovering a new kintype, gender, sexuality, or other aspect of their identity, or if there actually is a new alter that we’re interacting with.
We also experience this sometimes with like, well established alters who have been in the system for a long time. Like occasionally I’ll be like “wtf am I werewolfkin? Am I actually mlm and not a lesbian??” But in reality I was just cofronting or blending with Toby and just didn’t notice lol. Usually when we start having thoughts like this, one of us will speak up to clarify the situation.
So yeah, you’re definitely not alone in experiencing this. And as always, if anyone who reads this wants to share their own experiences with confusing new identities for new alters or headmates, you’re welcome to share.
