One thing that Firefox can’t do is allow me to access my telehealth therapy appointments. Three different platforms now have rejected my use of Firefox. I use Safari instead bc that’s what works and at least it isn’t chrome, but for folks who rightfully use Firefox, be aware that many, if not all, telehealth platforms will not work on Firefox (something about the encryption/security not being up to their standard, I believe; if there are hacks that Firefox gurus know to bypass this, please share with the class?).

it’s very easy to tell the good satires and pastiches from the bad ones because the bad ones are too afraid to live within the form. like if you are doing work with fairy tales and you are refusing to look closer at the underlying logic and unspoken rules of what can seem at first to be a senseless form, you are not going to create meaningful work. to borrow a turn of phrase originally used by maria tatar, if you refuse to enter “the house of fairy tale” as anything more than a gawking tourist, you will miss the particular order to the way the table is set, the rooms that are locked vs the rooms that are simply difficult to enter, the set of the floorboards and the position of the furniture. whatever you build will then be a gilded imitation of how you believe the house of fairy tale ought to look, the table set according to your educated specifications and every door open. there can be no interrogation of themes from a writer who views the form as beneath them!

so! questions from the 1x12 promo:

Duela meets up with the batbrats.

the batbrats will learn Duela is Harvey's daughter from the news. will they believe it? will she admit she knew? maybe. Doubtful she'll admit to meeting Harvey because further questions will follow. she certainly won't admit to being a killer, killing her dad, killing Turner's only remaining parental figure. Steph saw Harvey at the precinct but then Turner saw him at the club and will likely have questions about what happened after that.

sidenote: fascinating that Duela's first "kill" is her newfound father. looking forward to seeing how that affects her, and how she'll react to Harvey being alive - will she meet dark!harvey ie. her real father next they meet? I have a sense she'll like him but she may also fear him?

she does this at the court of owls dinner, presumably where the batbrats are infiltrating and so they will see? let's not forget Brody knows his mom stabbed/killed him so he'll probably share that with the batbrats meaning they won't need to see a demasked Rebecca to believe it. and with the summary saying Harvey is following a lead to discover what really happened the night Bruce was killed, he might not see it either - unless the clue leads him to the secret dinner? but i'm thinking he won't find out about Rebecca until the finale and it might have something to do with the impending Two-Face incident. but his search might include flashbacks of Bruce.

sidenote: i don't think we'll see dark!harvey again until the disfigurement attack because Harvey "killed" him which was pretty significant, and because he didn't emerge when Jane drugged him or when Duela threatened to and then did "kill" him - and we know dark!harvey is a protector, so.

this year my challenge for everyone is to unlearn the association between love and morality. love is not something that is inherently morally good, and the absence of love is not something that is inherently bad. sex without love isn't morally bankrupt, it's just an action. people without love aren't less kind or less good, they're just people. when we can get past this false (and often unnoticed) dichotomy of good love/evil lovelessness then i think we are going to be able to take leaps and bounds in sex positivity, aro advocacy, certain discussions of mental health...
