Is Jason actually good with kids, or is that fanon?

Oh, that's definitely a canon thing. Jason has always cared deeply about children and taken great efforts to protect them. Hell, the first comic he showed up in as Red Hood showed him taking control of Gotham's drug dealers and telling them that if they dealed to kids, they'd be swiftly and painfully murdered.

It can be assumed that the reason Jason's so passionate about protecting children and teenagers is because he himself had a crappy childhood. He had to take care of his drug addict mom, then lived on the streets, and then became a child soldier who died before his sixteenth birthday. Jason knows what it's like to have your childhood taken away, so he does what he can to protect the kids of Gotham. It’s like what Selina said about Bruce that one time: “When you take away the cape and the cowl and the capital ‘T’ in ‘The Batman’...he’s all about protecting the innocent.” Bruce and Jason have this in common.

Then there's Jason's relationship with Duela Dent, which I’ve always loved. Jason was the only person who always believed in Duela and genuinely tried to help her, even when she screwed up or seemed "unfixable". No matter how many times she stumbled, he never gave up on her because he has personal experience with needing second, third, and fourth chances. And it worked in the end; Duela gave up the life and went back home to try being a normal girl again.

Okay, so, silly thought, but taking the idea of Duela Dent as Jason's adoptive daughter...Damian has next to no respect for Jason. So, I'm imagining Damian hearing about this, and immediately tracking Duela down for training.

He's an uncle now, and the Joker has already used Duela to hurt Jason once, so it's time for him to take an interest in his niece's wellbeing and education.

Duela's down to learn how to punch things better, and it's fun to mess with the kid anyway, so she just rolls with it.

Dick follows with popcorn and some books on teaching.

Headcanon doodle for a potential take on Duela Dent, aka The Joker’s Daughter, later The Harlequin.

I’m building on the original thing where she’s a prankster nuisance turned member of the Teen Titans, except I don’t think my version would stay in the Teen Titans for very long, retiring the persona and going back to civilian life to deal with her own issues. My version would also be conceived BEFORE Harvey became Two-Face, and the thing about being hated by her father for not being twins is a cruel running joke the kids had at school after her parentage leaked out, and would in turn help inspire the “claiming various supervillains as her parents” thing, and her semi-malicious but ultimately not too harmful pranks is her attempting to lash out at society a little while having some fun with it.

Brain has been having Duela Dent thoughts and just... Like... It's SUCH a shame that when they decided to make a sequel to The Long Halloween that they didn't decide to make it at least partially be about Duela!

Like... Gilda and Harvey did what they did in the Long Halloween in the pursuit of having a family- namely the chance to have children. Well... Then in a sequel, wouldn't it be interesting to explore the aftermath and consequences of them having gotten what they wanted, but in these less than ideal circumstances...? What if Duela was concieved just a short time before Harvey got his face scarred by acid and he went missing (and insane)? I personally would LOVE to see Harvey trying his damndest to be a good father to Duela all while he's become a permenant fixture of Batman's Rogues Gallery. Him always trying to visit and spend time with her, all while being in the revolving door that is Arkham. Him fighting incredibly hard against his compulsions for her sake because he does want to make Duela feel safe and loved. His struggling with the fear of becoming abusive like his own father, but ultimately never actually directly harming her. Because he does love his daughter and wife more than anything in the world and in spite of everything, he somehow manages to be an okay father and husband, even if he is considered to be a bad person. But Duela still growing up to deeply resent him, so much that she denies being related to Two-Face in every capacity and always lies about their relationship.

Like... There's actually such a genuinely interesting story to be told here! But I guess that the DC writers just don't care about Gilda and don't want to use Duela's relationship with Harvey to any interesting effect. :/
