beloved dog cost me $700 this morning.. she needed vaccine updates and she's going to need some dental. so we ordered some blood work and got her the tick/flea/heart worm meds that will last a year.
she was very very good she did do a lot of yelling but settled enough to get her heart listened to. when she was taken to the back for blood drawn we could hear her "im actually done now leave me alone" yell (she was fine for blood draw, she just hated them holding her arm to stop the bleeding lmao)
I'm always amazed and impressed with how well she bounces back from these stressful situations. The vet gave us back to her, went and grabbed a cookie and she immediately went up to him and sat nicely for him. even when we paid she poked her head around to see him in case he had cookies!
she can be awful but I do feel spoiled that she can handle stuff like this. and don't worry she got paid at home too

mia + stray kids
mia has to say goodbye to a good friend.
hey my lovely peeps! don’t hate me for this, sorry!!! but hope you guys enjoy reading the post. as always, feedback is always welcomed :)
[9th member of stray kids]
Tumblr media
mia threw herself on the floor, legs and arms spread out as she closed her eyes. “no more please!” she exclaimed. with kcon la coming up, the group had began rehearsals and they had been doing so almost the whole day.
chan chuckled as he went to stand next to the girl. she opened one eye then instantly closing it. “get away bang chan.” she huffed. “actually, I’m here to tell you it’s your lucky day.” he said.
now mia opened both of her eyes, “hm?”
chan continued to chuckle. “rehearsals are over.” he stated. “you guys did great today.”
everyone cheered and clapped and mia stood up straightaway. “yes! that means we get to go home!” the girl ran to gather her belongings and rushed out the door, leaving everyone behind.
but the girl came back in, laughing along. “come on team!”
everyone was walking together and that’s when mia heard her stomach growling. “oof, I’m starving.” she said. “channie! can we get food?”
chan nodded. “of course. all of us at our place for dinner.”
“I want pizza!” jisung shouted. “no! we had pizza last night.” minho said. “how about fried chicken?”
“no.” mia shook her head. “we had that two nights ago.” minho groaned. “so? we can have it again.”
“mmm, what about sushi?” mia suggested. hyunjin snorted. “do you not remember the last time you had sushi?”
mia made a grossed out face, remembering the last time she ate sushi she ended up with food poisoning. and she definitely didn’t want to relive going in and out of the bathroom the whole night. “okay, never mind.” she said. “so what?”
“how about a home cooked meal?” chan then said after the group entered the dorms. “not a bad idea.” seungmin said. “thanks for deciding to cook for us.” he smiled.
“yeah, leader. gracias!” mia chuckled, making her way to her bedroom.
chan sighed. “I guess I’m cooking tonight.” changbin stood next to him. “and you’re helping.” he said to changbin.
the group was making themselves at home, getting comfortable and chan and changbin in the kitchen to start prepping for dinner. felix it went ahead to join them.
but they soon became startled as mia let out a loud, crying scream. the boys rushed to mia to see what was wrong and when they entered the girl had her back facing them. “mia?” chan questioned. he was the one moving closer to her.
the girl turned around, red face, and tears running down her cheeks. she was sobbing and her lips were quivering as she began to speak. “he’s not breathing.” she choked out. chan looked down to see what mia was holding in her hands. his face suddenly changing to shock. “m-my flash!” she cried. “he’s not breathing or moving!” she cried louder.
jisung rushed to mia, grabbing their pet from her hands. “what do you mean?” he was in denial, didn’t want to think their furry friend was actually dead. jisung shook flash a little to see if he would wake up and nothing. now it was jisung to began crying.
“I don’t get it.” mia cried. “this morning he was fine when we left for rehearsals. what went wrong?” everyone else was silent as both mia and jisung were the only two crying. they felt bad for their two members, knowing how much they loved flash.
“he just can’t be gone.” mia’s face was covered with tears. “I’m sorry, noona.” jeongin hugged mia which made her cry even harder.
mia couldn’t believe it, her first pet ever who she loved deeply was gone.
the girl sat quietly in her bed after everyone had left her room. she needed a moment to herself. chan and jisung took charge of taking away flash to the vet to see what was next. mia didn’t want to go at all, still heartbroken of what happened.
she kept thinking of what went wrong for her pet to pass. was it her fault? did he eat something he shouldn’t? was it just his time to go? the possibilities were endless and mia would probably never know the right answer.
mia heard a small knock on her door, she didn’t notice she was crying until she was rubbing tears away from her face. “yes?”
jisung came in. “how are you feeling?”
mia shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. it just hurts.” she said. jisung sat next to mia on her bed. “I know. very upsetting seeing his little body not moving.” he sighed.
mia nodded, the thoughts coming back in mind from when she entered her room to check up on flash like she always did to picking him and instantly noticing something wasn’t right. then feeling her stomach drop when flash didn’t move and she noticed he wasn’t breathing either.
she shook the thoughts away. there was a silence between to the two as mia then remembered something else. she slightly smiled. “remember when we got him?”
jisung chuckled a little. “yeah, I do.”
“it was so easy to convince channie on keeping him.” mia said. “well he didn’t have much of a choice since we had already gotten him-“
“dinner is ready!” chan barged in. “sorry, didn’t mean to startle you two.” he softly smiled at mia, “you doing okay?”
mia slowly nodded. “I’ll manage.” she said. “you guys go. I’ll catch up.”
after jisung and chan left her room, mia slowly got out her bed. before she stepped out room, mia looked over at where flash’s cage was. he had his own little spot in her room. she softly smiled when seeing the photo next to his cage of her and jisung with him when they decided to do a little family photoshoot for fun.
mia was definitely going to miss her little best friend.

Tiny | Rooster x Reader
A/N: Guys, there's so much fluff in this—I can't.
Summary: When deciding on what to name the newest addition to your family, you have some pretty creative ideas.
Warnings: fluff
Tumblr media
"Come on, Bradley, just hear me out—" You said, struggling to keep up with him as he climbed your small but steep stairs.
He shook his head, "We are not naming our dog Rooster!"
"But it's perfect for him!" You grinned, skipping the last step, "You know, you guys really favor."
Bradley rolled his eyes, but nothing could mask the smile on his face as he turned towards you, pulling your body into his.
"You're a real pain in my ass, you know that?" He let out a breathy sigh, his hands settling on your hips.
"Would you have me any other way?" You asked, tilting your head to look up at him.
He shook his head, "No, I wouldn't."
With a groan, you gave in, "Fine, we don't have to name the dog Rooster."
Raising a brow, Bradley was almost afraid to ask why you'd changed your mind, "And what name is on your mind now?"
You leaned into him, whispering a single word into his ear.
His jaw nearly dropped and he lifted you up in his arms, spinning you around in a circle, "God, I love you."
------------------------------------------------------------
You arrived outside of The Hard Deck at half past seven, carrying your puppy in your arms as Bradley held the door open for you.
The puppy squirmed in your arms, burying it's nose in your hair, licking your cheek, and surveying the room for anything he break later.
Penny spotted you immediately, shaking her head with a smile on her face.
"Didn't you know we have enough dogs in this place?" She said, gesturing to all the men filling the space.
You looked up at Bradley, "Figured two more wouldn't hurt."
She nodded, "Rooster and Mav are the worst ones."
Bradley scoffed teasingly, "Good to see you, too, Pen."
She jerked her head back to the piano, "Your throne is waiting for you."
"Don't mind if I do."
He made his way over to the piano, already stretching out his fingers to warm up.
As soon as the rest of Top Gun saw him, they broke out into a cheer, slapping him on the back and saying their hellos as he sat down on the bench in front of the piano.
He began playing one of his many songs, this time the remixed version of "Rocketman", which he had been practicing on your little keyboard for weeks.
As he sang, you saw Jake walking towards you from the corner of your eye.
"Y/N Bradshaw..." He trailed off, "As I live and breathe."
You laughed, throwing your head back and giving him a one armed hug, "Not a Bradshaw yet, Jake."
"Knowing Rooster, it won't be too much longer."
Trying to mask the smile on your face, you rolled your eyes, "Good to see you, Hangman."
Your puppy nipped at his arm, letting out a small bark.
"And who's this little guy?" He asked, scruffing it's head.
"This," You smiled, "Is the next step in our relationship."
He laughed, "What's his name?"
"Jake."
Before he could respond, Bradley was motioning for you to join him at the piano.
Smiling, you began walking towards him, "Good talkin' to you."
Sliding onto Bradley's lap with dog Jake, or "Tiny" as you both called him, you began singing along. Even Tiny began howling, but the sound was drowned out by the rest of the bar belting out the lyrics to Rocketman.
At the end of the song, you, Bradley, and Tiny got up from the bench, making your way over to the corner table where the Top Gun pilote sat.
"Rooster!" A voice called out, causing him to turn his head, his arm still around your waist.
Jake had his arms crossed, brows raised, "Really?"
"Hey, it was her idea, not mine." Rooster grinned.
He shook his head, his face breaking into a smile, "I don't know whether I should take it as a compliment or be offended."
You shook your head, "That's just the name on his official papers at the vet. We usually call him tiny."
Jake's tilt his head, "Why tiny? He's not going to be that little forever."
"No, but you are." You smiled, tilting your head to the side and handing the puppy to Jake.
Looking at Bradley, you nodded towards the piano, "Round two?"
"I thought you'd never ask."

hey. discussion and details of pet death including burial under the readmore.
this ones a long one. It's my blog and I can cry if I want tlo
And its.melodramatic. no its not shut up its sentimental. Man I have loved this cat since I was 6. She was born under my bed. What can you do. What can you do but publicly journal and document it on the internet foreever.
We said our goodbyes over the weekend as we realized she was only getting weaker.
I woke up at midnight for no reason and been up since then. Couldn't fall back asleep even if I tried, listened to music, had a good cry about it all, finally got to get some of the feelings out.
Called the vet and asked if we could come in earlier than scheduled, they told us they could see us "as soon as we needed" which was so wonderful and such a relief. They also allowed us to bring Blue along so he could see her body and understand she was gone. Wonderful, compassionate team. Even our vet teared up with us as she was administering the euthanasia at the end.
Mystery was already so lax even before she received the sedative. So out of it, so ready to be done. She hardly moved at all in the past 24 hours.
But for a moment, before the IV was in, as she was lying there on the table she stretched her arm out and reached with her paw spread wide for me and my mom, like she always used to do when she begged for head scratches. We were already softly crying and then that just tipped the water bucket over. Completely blind, weak, disoriented, she felt our breath, her whiskers touching our wrists and noses, she reached out! One last little "I love you. I want you [comfort]"
As the final shot went in I rubbed her chin, her cheek, her jaw, her favorite places to be scratched, and I was able to feel the softest subtlest purr as she faded away.
We cried, we kissed and pet her throughout the whole thing.
The vet gave us a box to transport her in. Brought Blue back home and kept Mystery in the box for about an hour where I sat on the floor and gently cleaned her fur, her dry cracked paws, the drool on her chin, the oil buildup on the parts she couldn't reach to groom... she was as soft as she was in her prime. I wrapped her in the towel we took her to the vet in. My mom kept saying how beautiful and peaceful she looked. She really did. She'll always be beautiful and sweet.
It was completely psychological but it almost felt like I could still feel her breathing when I put my hand on her side. All in my head. I kept expecting her to twitch or wiggle away when I cleaned her nose. Rigor mortis set in after about half an hour of grooming her. Being able to care for her body after she was gone really really really helped. Helped me process it all much easier. Like, "she's not in there anymore."
Months ago my aunt had kindly offered to let us bury her in her backyard when the time came. When we arrived she offered us food and drink, I hadn't eaten all day and we all caught up for a little bit until it was time to pick a spot to dig. My cousin and I chose a little spot where the soil was soft under some thin trees.
Digging took about an hour, half hour? Not sure. We chatted as we dug and genuinely had a nice time, or at least I did. For a few moments I felt like a kid with him again. You usually wouldn't expect to laugh with someone while digging a grave for a beloved pet. But that's probably the best case scenario.
We buried her wrapped in the towel along with flowers from my aunt's garden. Echinacea, mostly. My aunt chose a small statue of Saint Francis she had as a headstone.
I'm so tired. She really did look so beautiful. So sweet. Thought I was done crying for the night but I can feel my eyes stinging. I want to hold her. I didn't really think about the last time I would ever pick her up and hold her and the last time I would ever put her down. Walking out the door, cradling her in the passenger seat, waiting in the exam room.
God she was the best cat. She was the best. This demure, finicky, pretty little princess of a kitty with an incredibly ferocious feisty side. So dainty and regal and POWERFUL. Delicate and soft and sweet and lovey-dovey and loved to lick lick lick lick lick you all over your whole face and hands and give you head butts and stick you with her claws when you weren't giving her adequate attention, but also the baddest bitch of a cat I've ever met in my life.
I almost forgot to write this. Right after she died, she shed a single whisker. Of course I took it with me. I want to frame it with a letter written to her. Or at the very least, her name, birth and death date.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I miss her so bad already. I wish I could tell her "up up!" and feel her settle in on my lap. She was the best lap kitty as she got older.
I'm just happy she's at peace. I'm happy we got to bury her naturally the way we wanted. I'm happy she stayed with us for 16 years. I'm happy I ever had her.

DCC Part 2- Jake Seresin
Tumblr media
A/N: As far as I know, the Chiefs and Cowboys have never played each other in a season opener, but Glen is a Cowboys man and I’m a Chiefs girl so it works. Also, I have a lot of personal stuff going on, but I’ll do my best to update when I can.
When Taylor woke up, Rooster changed her diaper and we got her ready for the event. Y/N had laid out a “Biggest Dallas Fan” onesie and gray joggers with tennis shoes. We got her ready and fed her some leftover chicken nuggets per Y/N’s instructions. When Taylor was in her chair, Rooster cornered me in the kitchen. “Okay, be real with me. What are your intentions?” I rolled my eyes at him. “You know as well as I do that I don’t normally go for women with children. If my intentions were just to sleep with her, I wouldn’t be putting out all this effort.” He smiled at me, patting my shoulder. “Fine. But if you break her, you deal with me. Understood?” I nodded. I may not have been scared of Bradley in the air? But on the ground, I know he can take me. Especially when it comes to the only family he has left. We got done feeding Tay, and left to go to the Meet the Team event. When we got there, we met up with Rooster’s aunt and uncle who had a huge sign ready and they were all decked out in Cowboys gear. As we walked the stairs, I made conversation with her mom while Rooster talked to his uncle. “So, you’re the one my nephew talks about all the time. Jake, right?” I laugh, nodding my head. “Well, it’s nice to meet you. My daughter mentioned that you’re watching my granddaughter tomorrow?” I nod again, “Yes ma’am. I promise I will take great care of her.” She turns her head and smiles at me. “I have no doubt. You seem like a southern gentleman. You and my daughter should get along great if Bradley doesn’t scare you off.” “Ma’am, Bradley could never scare me. But ultimately, that will be up to your daughter. I personally think she’s gorgeous but I also want to let her lead the way.” She nods, smiling at me as we take our seats. A few minutes after we sat down, the coaches came out to introduce the team. I watched as the girls did their entrance, my eyes immediately falling to Y/N. It’s like she was made for this. She was smiling and sassy and absolutely killing it. They did they’re first routine in the triangle and I leaned down to talk to her mom. “She’s pretty darn good for a rookie!” Her mom shook her head and looked at me. “She’s a returning vet. They’re calling her a rookie because she left and had a baby and came back. But she has been on the team before.” I nodded along to what her mom said and watched as she danced her heart out on the field. After the event, we made our way down to the field, waiting for them to leave the locker room. I was engrossed in a conversation with her dad when we heard Y/N behind us. “Jake, Dad, there’s someone I want you to meet!” We turned around and my jaw dropped, next to her stood the Cowboys head coach, Mike McCarthy. I was in awe. “Hello sir! Nice to meet you!” I said, shaking his hand and looking at the both of them in shock. Mike turned to shake Y/N’s dads hand. “Jake, we would like you to be on the sideline tomorrow with Bradley. We appreciate and love our service members. We feel like it’s the least we can do.” Once again, my jaw hit the floor. “Ummm yes sir! I’d be honored, thank you!” He nodded, giving Y/N a side hug and walking away. “Ho- what- what just happened? You KNOW coach McCarthy?!” Y/N giggled, “of course. He came to training camp this year at training camp. He’s so excited to have you guys here tomorrow! Let’s get back so everyone can get some rest.”
———-
The next morning we woke up and Y/N was already gone. There was a note on the kitchen cabinet. “Morning gentlemen! There is breakfast already made and sitting in the microwave, I left everything out for coffee and Taylor’s breakfast. No need to wake her, she sleeps in on Saturday’s. Enjoy your morning and see you soon!” I couldn’t help but smile at the note she left for us. I went to throw it back on the counter when I noticed something on the back. “P.S. Jake, here’s my number. You said you’d send updates. ;)” I bit my lip and tried to fight off the smile making its way across my lips. Rooster walked out not long after, running a hand through his hair and I handed him a cup of coffee. He picked up the note and began to read it, smiling to himself. “She’s such a good mom. I’m so proud of her.” “Sounds like you guys are pretty close.” I asked him, taking a sip of my coffee. “Yeah, she’s like the sister I never had. We’ve been close our whole lives. That’s why I’m so protective of her.” I nod my head, finally understanding. “I get that. I promise to be good to them. I won’t do anything to hurt her, especially with Taylor involved.” He nods, patting me on the back and going to sit on the couch. I texted Y/N and let her know we were awake and listening for Taylor to wake up. She texted me back saying thank you and to keep an eye on Rooster too since he can bee a pain. I laughed at that, going to sit next to Rooster on the couch, deciding to watch tv until Taylor woke up. About twenty minutes later she walked out of her room and rubbed her eyes, walking straight to Rooster and crawling into his lap. I. Took that as my hint to go make her breakfast. I sat it on the table and she came in and sat down to eat. “You’re the one my mom likes?” She asked, casually taking a bite of her cereal. My eyes widened at that, “I must be, but it’s good to meet you. You ready to hang out with me today? I have lots of fun stuff planned for today. Rooster and your mom should be back this afternoon. She smiled up at me, nodding her head and digging into her cereal. I took a photo of giving a thumbs up and sent it to Y/N. Today is going to be a test for sure but I’m ready

talent that runs in the family ~ machine gun kelly

“Thanks so much for doing this (Y/N),” Rook said over the phone. “I appreciate it.”
“Yeah, no problem,” I said. “But does Colson know that I’m...y’know...not a seasoned vet?”
“You’ll do fine.”
I refrained from reminding him that he didn’t actually answer my question.
After Rook’s accident left him out of commission for some time, he came to me to ask if I’d fill in for him. I jumped at the opportunity. Rook had taught me how to drum when I was young and, much like my big brother, it became a passion of mine. How could I turn down working with one of the biggest artists of the year, even if it were just for a short while?
Well, my nerves were definitely telling me I should’ve said no as I walked into soundcheck that day.
“Whatever,” I said. “I’ll call you after the soundcheck.”
“Hey, don’t be nervous. You’re gonna do great.”
I said my goodbyes and hung up. I tried not to focus on how big the venue we were playing in was as I made my way to the otherwise empty stage. I thought I was the first person to arrive until I heard someone calling my name.
“(Y/N), up here!”
I looked up to see the guys sat in a booth in the balcony. Colson was all but leaning over the railing, waving for me to join them. I had no idea how to get up there on my own, but luckily a security guard showed me the way.
The guys were eating pizza and drinking from plastic cups as if they were the ones attending the concert and not performing in it.
“Pre-show ritual,” Colson told me. “Especially when we have someone new joining the band. Sit! Have a slice!”
“Shouldn’t we be practicing?” I asked, but still sat with them. I didn’t want to completely mess up my first day.
“We have hours to practice,” one of the other guys I remembered as Slim said. “And we don’t really need to. We do this every night. A soundcheck is basically just to make sure everything is working tech wise.”
I just nodded, not wanting to point out that I hadn’t been doing this every night. I hoped that I’d have some time to figure out the songs before the shows.
Colson nudged me, bringing my attention to him. “Don’t stress. You’ll do great.”
I smiled at him, wishing I’d believe him.
After our small feast of pizza and beer in plastic glasses, we finally got to our soundcheck. I was so nervous that I kept messing up during the first song. My hands were shaking and I kept hitting the wrong drum by accident. My face was burning with embarrassment as I buried it in my hands and groaned.
Colson walked up to me, a sympathetic smile on his face.
“I’m sorry,” I sighed. “I can get this, I know I can.”
“I know you can, too,” he said. “Just take a breath, relax. We’ll try again when you’re ready. And remember, it’s just drumming. Rook says you’re great at it.”
I smiled at him and nodded. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I pictured myself back in my bedroom from my childhood, playing my drums super loud until my parents had to call out for me to keep it down.
When we started practicing again, it went off without a hitch. We did most of the setlist all the way through and did quick takes on the last few songs before our time was up.
I was proud of myself as the soundcheck came to an end. I was still nervous about performing during the actual show, but I felt confident enough in myself not to make too many noticeable mistakes when we actually had an audience that night.
I was walking to my car when I heard someone calling for me. I turned to see Colson running to catch up with me. Or rather he was taking long strides to catch up with me considering he was so tall.
“I told you you would do great!” he said, putting an arm around my shoulder and giving it a light squeeze. “It’s like drumming runs in your blood or something.”
I chuckled. “That’s what mom and dad always said too, but neither one of them can keep a beat to save their lives and no one else in our immediate family plays either.”
“You and Rook are the start of a long line of drummers then I guess.”
I shrugged in response. We both stood awkwardly for a moment. I wasn’t sure what else to say. His arm was still around my shoulder and I didn’t want to pull away and make it seem like I didn’t enjoy the contact because I definitely was not complaining about it.
I guess Colson also realized that he was still touching me, though, because he pulled his arm away and awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
“Do you need a run to the hotel or anything?” he asked. “We have the tour bus.”
I shook my head. “I’m good, thanks. I have my car, and besides I haven’t even checked into the hotel yet so I should probably go do that.”
“Oh, yeah you definitely should. Get some rest before the show, too. It’s a lot more physically demanding when it’s an actual show, even if you’re just sitting at a drum set the entire time. I’ll see you tonight then I guess.” He turned to walk away, but paused and turned back to add, “What were you planning on wearing tonight?”
I looked at him, confused. “Uh...this I guess.”
I was wearing a hoodie and a pair baggy jeans and my most comfortable pair of sneakers.
Colson raised an eyebrow at my outfit before looking back up at me. “I mean, it’s definitely comfy, but I would recommend something a little less...well, just less. It’s going to be hot as fuck on that stage, especially with all the lights on you and shit.”
I nodded, taking note of this as I got into my car and internally panicked a little because I didn’t know if I even had anything to wear.
~~~~~~
A few hours later, after checking into my hotel room and promptly wrecking it by throwing my clothes everywhere, I was heading back down to the lobby to meet up with the guys. We were going to the show together, which would’ve been my first tour bus ride. I couldn’t lie, I was super stoked for it.
I was the last one to the lobby. All the guys were stood around, loudly talking to one another. You’d think they were just a normal group of guys and not a group about to play a sold out show in a massive arena.
Colson spotted me first. I smiled at waved at him. His eyes widened and his jaw basically dropped, which prompted all the guys to turn. Their reactions immediately matched his as they looked me up and down.
“Rook would kill you guys if he could see you right now,” I teased.
“Damn (Y/N),” Colson dared to say first. “You look...you look hot as fuck.”
I had decided on a loose muscle shirt with a bralette underneath since the shirt showed a little more than what I was used to, a pair of ripped skinny jeans, and kept on the comfortable sneakers I had been wearing earlier that day.
I giggled. “Thanks, but again, Rook would kill you for saying that. Also, it’s not anything super attractive.”
“You got a nice body,” Baze pointed out. “Anything showing it off even a little is hot.”
I could feel my face burning as I waved their comments away. “Okay, enough with this. We have a show to get to.”
We boarded the tour bus and started towards the arena. The guys were distracted amongst one another again, completely forgetting about me and my “hot outfit”. Besides Colson, who had come to sit next to me on the couch while the rest of the guys were already drinking whatever was in the mini fridge.
“Do you guys always get drunk before your shows?” I asked.
“Not always. Usually we get high,” Colson responded.
“Now that I can get behind. I’ll probably be less afraid if I’m high.”
Colson held out the joint in his hand to me. I took it and took a quick puff, the smoke immediately burning my throat and lungs as I tried to inhale it. Colson laughed as I started to cough.
“I still say you have nothing to worry about,” he told me. “You’re gonna do great tonight. You can’t even really see or hear the audience with all the lights and the inner ear pieces.”
“That’s even worse cause then I’ll just imagine how big the audience is.”
He put a hand on my leg, something I assume was just instinct for him to do to comfort someone, but the minute he made the contact I felt a jolt of electricity run through me. Colson quickly pulled his hand away and I wondered if he had felt that too.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that without asking,” he said.
“You can if you want,” I assured him. “I wasn’t mad about it or anything.”
Colson looked at me and I realized how blue his eyes were. Rook had always made jokes about how Colson could seduce any woman with just his eyes because they were such baby blues, but I didn’t really believe him until the moment I was looking in them myself. Now I was lost, completely forgetting everyone around me as I felt myself moving closer towards him.
The bus jerked to a stop, causing Colson and I to nearly be thrown from our seats. The guys started off the bus first, running towards the entrance to the arena as I could hear the waiting fans screaming outside.
Colson stood and offered a hand to me. “It’s showtime.”
~~~~~~
After the first song went perfectly, I stopped feeling nervous. Colson was right, I couldn’t see the audience in front of me, but I could faintly hear their screams of excitement over my inner ear piece. It was weird to have it in and not only hear all of us playing, but also the crew talking backstage. It was almost distracting, but it became easy to tune them out.
During one of Colson’s talking points in the show, I reached for my water bottle to take a sip. Colson was hyping the audience up, which made me smile a little.
“Before we continue the show,” he said into his mic, “you guys may have noticed that we do not have our regular drummer tonight.”
I immediately knew what he was about to do and I wanted to hurtle my drumstick at him before he went there.
“As you’ve probably heard, Rook was in a bit of an accident and is off recovering for the time being,” he continued. “So, we decided to get some family to fill in for him for the time being. Everyone, I want to hear y’all make some noise for Rook’s little sister, (Y/N)!”
The crowd cheered loudly. Colson turned to me and waved for me to stand. I glared at him, which I hoped he could see, before standing and awkwardly smiling and waving at the audience.
“All the cool drum shit you guys have been hearing all night has been (Y/N),” Colson said as he started to approach me. “She’s a bad ass fucking drummer, and she’s a pretty fucking cool chick, too.”
I was confused where he was going with this as he came to stand next to me, slinging an arm around my shoulder the way he had earlier that day after soundcheck.
“Which is why, (Y/N), I gotta ask: will you go on a date with me sometime?”
Slight embarrassment was swelling somewhere inside of me at being asked out in such a public way, but that embarrassment was overshadowed by the fuzzy feeling of excitement inside of me. I looked up at Colson, my eyes wide and a smile on my lips.
He lowered the mic so he could privately add, “I’m being serious. I wanna take you out on a real date. Just the two of us.”
My words were stuck in my throat, but I was able to nod in response. The smile on Colson’s face stretched so wide that I could’ve been convinced he was the one lighting the show.
“Okay,” he said, then lifted the mic to say to his audience, “Let’s get back to the show guys!”

The Worries and Woes of Heroic Hair
Y'all were busting out hair headcannons before I left, so I saved a few and wrote a fic for them.
Featuring:
Pre-maturely grey Twilight
Curly haired Legend
Long haired Four
(As well as a reference to long hair Sky)
Warriors had gained the unfortunate title of ‘pretty boy’.
In a group of beautiful men and boys that literally sent women swooning, no matter what world they were in, he’d somehow been labeled the “pretty” one. Never mind he was more mature looking than half of their number. Never mind that Legend and Hyrule looked like a pair of porcelain dolls hand painted by a master artist. Never mind that Wild literally had half of his world falling heels over head for him. No matter how many women in the War of Ages had gushed about the adult Hero of Time (much to Mask’s annoyance). And sure, let’s just forget that Wars had heard not one, but two princess’s complimenting Twilight’s ass.
Yeah, okay, he was the pretty boy, sure.
Maybe that was because he was the only one in the group that actually had any understanding of a little thing called personal hygiene! Honestly! Had no one introduced the vet to a bathtub when he was younger? Or Wild to a hairbrush? And Hyrule... oh Hyrule...
Honestly, it was a pain, trying to not say something to his brothers that might be taken as rude or offensive. At least his own two boys were a bit better. During the war he’d pounded some sense into their heads after scrubbing their ears clean enough that they could actually hear him when he spoke, and Time and Wind both showed some (although not much more than the others) level of personal grooming, even if it was the basic wash and brush that Wars had required of all of his soldiers.
The others though? He had been beginning to think they might be hopeless, but then he’d had a chance to do something about it.
“Wars?”
“Hmm?” Bright blue darted up from the journal Warriors had been writing in, meeting Wind’s pout with a soft chuckle at his baby-faced brother. One day, Wind would be as grizzled and scruffy as his grandfather (would be his grandfather) but for now he would take him time teasing the kid for his baby-face. After all, it wasn’t like he’d be getting another chance to get revenge on the man who’d teased him up to his wedding day for his “lack of masculine charm”.
“My hair is knotted. In the back.” Wind didn’t even bother waiting for a signal, instead just plopping down in the captain's lap and dropping a brush by his knee. And really, with how the war had gone, Warriors should have expected that.
Any injury that impeded movement meant Wars was helping his two boys with whatever was needed during the war, and near the top of that list had been brushing hair. Broken arm or sprained wrist or whatever Hyrule had diagnosed it as (he’d been a bit too wrapped up in helping hold Wild still so he and Legend could treat the kid’s crushed hand to hear the healer’s final word), he was always happy to help the younger hero sort out his problems.
At least Wind let him help, instead of sending him scandalized looks and rude signs at the mere mention of a bath, like Legend did, or simply darting away like Hyrule.
“Wind,” Sky frowned slightly. “You didn’t have to disturb Wars, any of us would have been willing to help.”
The sailor cocked a brow, leaning back into his touch as he worked over the knot with nimble fingers well accustomed to working through tangled golden curls. “Says the Hero of Eternal Bedhead.”
Crystal blue eyes darted up to messy bangs. “Is it really that bad?”
“Yes.” Sailor and captain deadpanned together, matching grins on their faces as they stared at the Skyloftian.
“Oh feathers.” Sky huffed, running his hands through his hair and looking at the two expectantly. “Is that better?”
Wind snorted. “Sky, you need a hairbrush for your bird’s nest.”
“But,” Sky cocked his head like a confused puppy. “I don’t have a bird’s nest?”
“He means that your hair is a mess.” He chuckled, pausing in his work to pat the ground at his side. “Here, I’ll do you next, ‘kay?” And bless Sky for being a patient and reasonable person, because at the very least the Skyloftian just sauntered over easily and sat hot-cross-buns on the ground beside him, watching lazily as he worked at the sailor’s messy hair.
“It’s not that bad,” The Sailor huffed. “You can’t honestly be taking this long.” The kid wasn’t fooling him though, Wind was leaning into the touch, almost slumped against his chest in a boneless pile of teenager.
“You’re dry as a desert.” He scolded softly in response, rubbing some of the bristly hair between his fingers. “I’ve told you salt water dries your hair out, you need to take care of it or it’ll never grow out properly.”
Wind shifted awkwardly. “I didn’t have time. I did try, I mean it! It just... We’re always so busy and...”
His hands were already reaching for his pack. “You’re lucky mine dries out too. I’ll need to get more in the next town, but I think this oil can last us both long enough to get you some again.”
“Oil?” Sky frowned thoughtfully. “What for?”
“Split ends and dry hair.” Came the practiced answer as he rubbed the substance in question over his hands and began to card it through the sailor’s parched curls. “I suppose you could say it’s like with birds. They have to oil their feathers to stay healthy, right?”
“Oh! Okay, yeah, that makes sense.” The Skyloftian mulled over the concept for a moment. “We need to do that to our hair?”
Long fingers stopped mid stroke, royal blue blinking slowly in the clueless sky child’s direction. “Oh, you poor, clueless bird-boy you, your hair must be parched!”
Wind’s giggles shook them both, but Sky simply looked hurt. “I try. How was I supposed to know?”
Fingers slick with hair oil curled to point at the other hero. “I am massaging this stuff into your thirsty scalp right now. Wind, move.”
The sailor tumbled, giggling from Wars’ lap, leaving Sky to stare down at the captain’s crossed legs. “I’m- Warriors I am not sitting in your lap.”
“I don’t expect you to.” Brush in one hand and bottle of hair oil in the other, Warriors moved to stand behind the Skyloftain. “Just stay right there and let me work, and I swear if someone else tells me to my face that they’re not taking care of themselves- Sky! Look at this!”
The Skyloftian shifted, trying to look for only a moment before huffing. “Warriors, I can’t see the top of my own-”
“When’s the last time you trimmed this?” Brittle tips crinkled under his fingers as he stared at the mess that was Sky’s hair. “Your split ends are horrible!”
“Crimson usually trims it for me.” Came the softly mumbled response, and Wars had to hold back an affronted squawk at the words.
“You’re entrusting the care of your hair to a bird? Sky, my lovely, my dear friend, my brother, what the actual Ladies?”
“He does a good job!”
“If you call this rat’s nest a good job! Honestly, it’s no wonder Legend finally agreed to let you cuddle him, he must feel right at home with this mess!”
“Ouch.” Sky huffed, crossing his arms loosely and pouting.
“That aside,” He began working the first knot out, fluffing Sky’s hair lightly in his fingers. “It’s a good color, nice volume too. Have you ever considered growing it out? Without the split ends?”
“Huh?”
Caramel hair parted easily in his hands, springy and soft despite the brittle ends. “You’d look fetching with long hair, Chosen One. My, imagine what Sun would say if she saw you!” Sky stiffened as the soldier ducked down, voice lowering and eyes glinting with mischief as he whispered in his friend’s ear. “If she wasn’t already swooning at seeing you again, she’d be dizzy at the sheer beauty.”
“Wars!” Long ears twitched, tellingly red as the Skyloftian battled a fierce blush.
But the captain was already lost in his rant, taking pleasure in making Wind continue to giggle as Sky whined softly in protest at his teasing. “I can see it now! You arrive fresh out of battle, sword in hand and hair whipping in the wind, cape swirling like the wings of the goddess herself! She sees you. Your eyes meet. You shoot her one of your dashing smiles and she stumbles back, breathless, and you have to dart forwards to catch her before she swoons away altogether, so bedazzled she is by your handsome visage!” He flourished with a smile, letting oiled locks fall over Sky’s eyes with a laugh as the Skyloftian blushed brighter, not bothering to shift his bangs and instead hiding behind them, trying and failing to hide a pleased smile.
Wind didn’t stop giggling until Sky had had to punch the captain in the leg to make him finally cease the teasing.
“Smithy,” Twilight’s laughter rung through camp as he brushed long bangs out of the smithy’s eyes, the younger hero still smushed against the rancher's side sleepily, headband askew and half hanging in his eyes. The boy’s hair curtained his face, falling back into place the moment Twilight lifted his hand again, producing rumbling laughter form the farm-hand. “Four, you- when in Ordonia’s name did you last trim your hair?”
“’s not that long.” Came the murmured reply as Four pressed his face further into Twilight’s side, nestling closer with an irritable huff. “Leave ‘lone, Twi.”
The smithy might have denied it but... his hair really had grown out.
It wasn’t really that apparent with the headband keeping it back, and Four was decent enough at keeping his hair out of his face. But headbands, no matter how trusty, didn’t stay up forever, and when one was as active as a Hero of Courage, it wasn’t uncommon to find one’s self with their hair swinging loose in battle. Not that most of them minded, Wild kept his hair tied carefully and Legend tucked all of his under a hat, meanwhile the others all had shorter locks that, other than the swishing of their bangs, mostly stayed out of their faces.
Four on the other hand...
Four’s headband had fallen loose into a mud puddle, and until he was able to clean it the smithy had been walking around like a sheepdog, bangs fluffing into his eyes and making the shortest hero huff in an annoyed manner as he kept swiping his bangs aside. Unfortunately, they weren’t long enough to tuck behind his ears, only to hang in his face and send him stumbling over and into all sorts of things with sharp yelps and soft swears as the hero closest to him would have to offer a hand or scoop up the small smithy again.
Wars didn’t say anything, but when Four finally approached him one evening, eyes flickering icy blue as he dashed his bangs out of the way and tugged at the scarf draped around the captain’s neck (the others’ favorite way of getting his attention he had found).
“Hey there, smithy, what’s up?”
“Cut them.” Four huffed, pushing the loose hair back again only to have them drift back over his glinting eyes, and then, as if an afterthought, he tacked on ‘Please?’.
Royal blue darted up to Sky, who smiled on the edge of the campfire, a knowing look in his eyes. “Did Sky tell you I could help?”
“No. I figured that out myself. He just... pushed me.”
Laughter bubbled up in his chest. “Ah.”
“So, can you help? Or do I need to wander around looking like a Mogma?” Sky could be heard muttering across the camp at that, and Four’s ears twitched as he huffed, clearly having taken offense at whatever had been said.
He nodded, a bit unsure why Four glared across the fire at Sky, but willing to help. Oh goddesses, was he willing to help; Four’s hair bugged him nearly as much as Wild’s did, and he had been dying to fix it for the smithy. He wasn’t sure what Sky had said, but he was thankful for the other knight’s willingness to aid him in his battle against poor hygiene, and if he could turn another hero with the power of a good haircut, well! “Anything you have in mind? Just what you had before, or...?”
“Bangs.” Four dropped down hot-cross-buns, just like Sky had the other day, in front of him, arms crossed and expectant as he huffed at his long bangs.
“Right.” His brush and scissors were already sitting at the ready as he reached out to gently push the hair out of his friend’s eyes. “You good?”
“Annoyed.” Four sulked. “I can’t see anything and Twilight has been called me a sheep-dog.” Accurate. “I just want my hair short again, but the last time I cut it, it looked like I was attacked by a cat.” The smithy shivered, clutching at his sleeves as he shook his head, hair falling back into his eyes as he did so. “I just let it grow after that, but the bangs bother me if I can’t push them back.”
“Noted.”
Four’s hair was a bit silkier than the others’, but similarly brittle, although that was likely due to the heat of the forge rather than sea salt and extended time in the sky. He didn’t even bother asking about oiling the locks as he worked, brushing out all of Four’s hair with care and sectioning out the bangs with the same amount of agonizing detail Legend put into his paintings or Wild put into his cooking.
“Hair cut?” Twilight called from across camp.
“You could use one too,” Four huffed, unmoving save for his eyes darted to glance over his shoulder. “Your hair is beginning to look like wolf ears, rancher. Wolfie might take offense that you’re stealing his look and come maul you.”
Chuckles sounded around the camp, Legend wheezing lightly while Time and Wild shared a look. Wars didn’t know what that was about, but he smiled as he worked, humming lightly under his breath as he clipped a bit here and a touch there, releasing the hair to stare at it, adjusting it a bit, taking another section in hand and snipping it, and repeating the whole process.
Four was still as a statue the whole time, occasionally humming along to whatever tune happened to be on Warriors’ mind at the moment, but otherwise as poised and picturesque as a statue as the captain worked over the smithy’s blond locks.
This close up, Warriors was beginning to wonder why they never met any lovely admirers of the smithy, Four was certainly not lacking in the looks department, and had the kid lived in his time he’d find himself having to beat off girls with a stick. Honestly, how was he the pretty boy here?
“Nearly done?” Came the patient hum, and he snapped himself back to reality as he brushed Four’s bangs back into place, trimmed and tidy, along with the rest of his short hair.
“Yep.” The scissors finally came to rest in his lap as he whisked away the cloak that he’d used to catch the trimmed hairs. “My, my, smithy, you almost look as if you were going courting! Legend, lend a man your shield for a tick, would you? Four needs to see his new cut.”
The veteran rolled his eyes, but the shield was offered readily enough when Four trotted his way over, and while the smithy looked a bit surprised that Wars had bothered to braid most of his hair out of the way during the cut, he didn’t look at all displeased.
Wars counted that as a win.
He’d run out of oil a few days ago, and already his hair was beginning to frizz in this thrice-forsaken heat.
Being born with curly hair was nothing of the blessing his mother had made it out to be, no matter how she liked playing with her ‘baby boy’s’ hair. Of course, his beloved liked it too, but he was going to chalk that up to being a woman thing, curls were a pain if they weren’t on kids, especially if they were eon him.
Thank Hylia that Lilith had taught him to straighten it all out, he would have been driven half out of his mind if he hadn’t been able to control it on his way through basic, and the teasing would have been so much worse than it actually had been.
As was, the captain was only too happy when they next came to his Castletown, and after he’d made sure the others were settled in the castle with his cousin, he’d gracefully made his exit and headed out to the town. Getting through the streets was a pain, his armor and scarf giving him away as the hero and practically inviting the whole market to start competing for his attention, along with the hundreds of shoppers who surged close with questions and thanks and admiration. Not for the first time, Warriors found himself thankful that he handled crowds better than many of his fellow soldiers, and even if all the attention was a bit much, he wasn’t overwhelmed like poor Wild would have been.
Oh heavens, the day they finally figured out how to explain the portals and heroes nonsense to the public to excuse the sudden aging of the Hyrulian Hero’s child, Wild was likely going to have to start wearing a hood or something when they went into town.
The dye shop was a way into the market, and it had taken quite the bit of fancy footwork to avoid stepping on anyone as he’d answered questions and received thanks from the enthusiastic, if not slightly push, people of Hyrule. If he closed the door of the shop after him with a sigh of relief though, that was between him and Gyssel, the shopkeeper.
“Back again, Link? Same materials as the last time?”
“If you please.” He nodded with a smile. “Though I might have a bit of a glance around, I’ve a friend in need of a few things.”
The old woman nodded with a chuckle. “Right then. Oh, and if you see those two lovely gents who popped in here earlier, would you be willing to lend ‘em a hand? Poor dears looked lost as two minish in a fairy pond when they stumbled in here, but I’ve been batting a thousand with the customers all day and haven’t had a chance to pop over and offer help. You know the shop same as I do, so, if you have a moment, could you check in on them while I wrap your things?”
“Of course.” He nodded, smiling his best as he moved towards the back wall.
The other voices in the shop were mostly those of tittering ladies and mischief making pranksters, all too young and too high to belong to the ‘lovely gents’ that Gyssel had been speaking of, and it wasn’t hard to trail the rumble of a man’s voice to the back of the store where the hair dyes were. He grinned as he rounded the corner, but froze when he found himself face to face with a startled, and maybe somewhat abashed rancher.
“Twilight?”
“Warriors?”
“Shit, Wars is here?”
Royal blue darted down to meet the snapping violet of the veteran. “Legend? What are the two of you doing in here of all places? Are you lost?”
“No.” Legend huffed, foot tapping agitatedly at the floor as he gnawed his bottom lip, a sure sign of awkwardness if one knew the vet.
“What are you doing- oh.” Twilight’s face faded from confusion to understanding. “You’re the city boy, of course you shop in joints like this.”
He cocked a brow, hands coming to rest on his hips as he stared down the two other heroes. “Says the guy who’s been wandering around looking for something long enough the owners worried. Honestly, what could the two of you even need?”
Midnight and violet glanced warily at each other, and to his surprise, twin flushed lighted his friend’s faces as Legend had crossed his arms and Twi had rubbed at his neck.
“Hair dye.” The rancher admitted softly.
“And shampoo.” Legend had tacked on.
Warriors let his eyes blow wide an overdramatic gasp sounding in the small corner of the shop as he rested a hand on his collar. “Why, vet, you don’t mean to tell me you’re planning on actually taking a bath, are you! My heavens, what next? Will Hyrule somehow produce a wedding cake in time for Time and Malon to announce they’re having a baby?”
“They’re what!?!” Twilight yelped, sounding, ridiculously, like a dog that has just been kicked.
“I’m teasing, rancher.” He chortled. “Trust me, if Time knew of such a thing, he wouldn’t have shut up about it. Miss Malon’s still trim and terrifying as last we saw her; I have little doubt.” At the rancher’s breath of relief, he shook his head. “Honestly though, soap? Vet, last I checked-”
“It’s hot.” Legend interrupted, avoiding meeting his gaze by rolling his eyes.
“And?”
“And in case you didn’t know, our resident vet is a-”
“Don’t say it!” Legend huffed, glaring at Twilight and tugging his blue cap tighter over his head.
Come to think of it, Legend hadn’t taken the baby-blue cap off in ages...
“Is a what?”
Twilight looked down warily at the seething veteran, face twisted up between a playful grin and a wary frown, as if he didn’t yet know whether he wanted to tease and face the vet’s wrath or hold his tongue and avoid making a scene.
“Look,” Warriors sighed, glancing between the two country boys with a sigh. “I won’t tease at all, alright? But the sooner you own up to whatever nonsense you did to yourself, the sooner we can find you what you need and get ourselves out of here.”
The flush on Legend’s face darkened, eyes darting down as the vet shuffled his feet, and Wars found himself being reminded that for all the vet’s snark and sass, he really was as much of a kid as Wild and Wind were, just more accustomed at having to act otherwise.
Thin fingers rubbed at the rings on the vet’s pale hands. “Well, you see- that is- augh!”
Something inside him blossomed with warmth, a smile stretching across his face. Golden Three, Legend really was just an awkward teenager, wasn’t he? He even stumbled over his words when he was embarrassed, just like Time used to. Of course, Time had been twelve and Legend was nineteen, but that was beside the point.
“So-” The vet was nearly pouting as he struggled with his words, fingers rubbing steadily at his rings as he avoided Wars’ gaze. “You know how Ravio has curly hair?”
“Yes.”
“And you know how Ravio and I are- uh, each other's- reflect-”
A laugh bubbled out of his throat unexpectedly as he reached out to ruffle what could be seen of the vet’s frizzy bangs. “You’re a curly top! Why didn’t you say sooner?” Legend glared at him with a huff, but violet didn’t shift to indigo, so he knew it was all just an act. “Wind and I are too, I was actually in here to get some things for the two of us, and Sky too. I can help you as well if you don’t mind, just let me-” He motioned to the blue cap that was pulled snig down to Legend’s ears.
The vet huffed, but reached up to finger the blue fabric. “You won’t laugh, right?” Stern eyes met his own.
“Of course.” He smiled reassuringly.
Legend’s gaze searched his face for a moment, wary, but open, and even if it made him uncomfortable (the odd glint of gold at the edges of the vet’s eyes was a bit unsettling) he withstood it until Legend nodded, seemingly to himself, and pulled off his cap.
Pink curls spilled down to the vet’s shoulders as a bright blush colored pale cheeks. Twilight didn’t make it any better by reaching over to ruffle the vet’s head, chuckling soft and warm and surprisingly fond as Legend hissed back at him.
“Can I- that is- do you mind if I touch? I can help you find what you want better if I know what you need.”
A stiff nod.
The pink hair was just like fairy-floss, but less sticky (still dirty though) and he had to remind himself what he was doing once he got his fingers in it. A quick check at the texture and ends of Legend’s hair, as long as a quick check of the scalp and roots told him all he needed.
“Whatever dye you used to do this messed you up, vet. Honestly, I don’t know what you were thinking, but you’re dry as a mulduga’s arse. Did you bleach your hair before dying it or something?” There was a murmur in reply, but not anything he could really make out. “I’m sorry, what?”
“I said that’s me natural color.” Legend huffed, tensing under his hands. “I bleached it blonde a few months back, but no, I didn’t dye this shit, it just happened.”
Twilight, very unhelpfully, giggled.
Warriors blinked. “You have pink hair?”
“Yes.”
He fought the chuckle that built up in his chest, but it did little good as he ruffles the frizzy curls and let Legend replace his hat. “Alright then! Well, I’d avoid bleaching again if I was you. The pinks out and it’s healthier if you give it a rest between dyes. I have to admit though,” He settled his hands on his hips and looked between the two other heroes with a smirk. “I never took either of you two as the sort to dye your hair.”
“Throws off the guards.” Legend huffed, tugging his cap back over his hair and making Warriors wince. Ah yes, Legend’s Hyrule’s guards.
“Fair enough. I can find you something to help with the drying out and dye damage. Twi though...” He frowned, stroking his chin in thought. “Why do you even need hair dye? Trying something new?”
Now it was the rancher’s turn to look embarrassed, rubbing at his neck and ruffling his hair. “No, actually. I jist need- rather- want? I guess? I-”
Legend huffed, patting the rancher’s arm in a rare show of compassion. “He’s been greying early and it’s making him self-conscious. I told him we could look for a dye to hide it, since he didn’t want to go about stealing Time’s position as the resident Old Man.”
Oh. Well, that made sense. “Right! Fair enough. So, you want your natural shade, yes?” At the rancher's nod he pressed on, clapping his hands as he listed what they needed. “So, hair oil, some dye, and shampoo for Legend, preferably meant for damaged and curly hair. Anything else?”
Even though the two shook their heads, they all walked out with a bit more than what Warriors had listed, but despite the fact that Legend complained about it all, no one seemed to mind too much when he pulled the three of them together after the others had gone to bed and helped show them had to use the various toiletries without making too very much of a mess. It cost a pretty penny to get them all sorted, but Legend was clean, Twilight was a brunette again (the silver streaks were rather fetching though, and he’d made sure to make sure Twilight knew that before they dyed it all away) and Wind and Sky had what they needed to prevent their hair drying out again.
And even if it made a sizable dent in his wallet, he’d refused to be paid back. It was worth it anyway, since now he and Legend both had straight hair again (and the vet had actually washed!).
He could see now why Wild and Hyrule liked playing with their respective mentors’ hair though, it was almost addictive.
Time took one look at the three youngest and groaned, and Warriors almost echoed the action.
“What were you three even doing?” His now-eldest huffed, pinching the bridge of his nose with a heavy sigh as he tried not to look at the three teens, all of which were covered in mud and grass stains, and only looking slightly remorseful, despite their horrid clothing and scraped faces.
Had it been anyone but Wild and Wind, Wars would have sat back and watched as karma paid her long overdue visit to the mischievous mask-loving hero, but since it was his kids that caught up in paying back the silver in his own hair, Wars had to stand with Time and try his very hardest not to chuckle at the sight before him.
It took no trouble at all to picture Mask sitting, unrepentant, amid the other youngsters, a challenging look on his face as he dared the captain to even try and ground him for running off again.
“We were exploring.” Hyrule grinned sheepishly, rubbing at the mud that had dried on the side of his neck. “We um-”
“We fell in a swamp.” Wild snorted, wrinkling his nose and shaking some gunk from his hands with a pout. “Even I think we stink.”
Time’s lips twitched, brows struggling to remain in a scowl as he answered, voice wavering with a hint of laughter that made Wars smile to himself. “Is that so, Cub?”
“We smell like boko guts.”
“Or boko crap!” Wind cackled, the only one not soaked in swamp goo but instead spattered with ordinary mud that came from likely tripping and falling in the dirt from laughing too hard.
“Bathe.” Time chuffed, shaking his head fondly. “All three of you. Rivers there and I’m sure Wars has soap aplenty to help.” Hang on, what? Time’s eye met his own, blinking- winking? with a bright and shit eating grin. “Have fun with you sons, dad.”
Oh Ladies, Karma messed up again, didn’t she?
“Mask, I swear-” He growled, glaring at his- was Time his eldest now? His middle child still? The youngest since he’d been the last to join the family?
“Don’t, you’ll set a bad example.” The overgrown forest gremlin chuckled, walking away with a condescending pat of the shoulder.
Some things really never changed, huh?
“Right then.” the captain turned to glare stillness back into the three youngsters, two of which were already trying to sneak away, and the third- of thank Hylia for Wind, the kid was standing at perfect attention with a smirk on his face that screamed ‘I’m the eldest and I’m about to watch my little brothers get scolded and I’m going to enjoy every second of it’, snotty little salt-bathed brat. “Jump in or I punt you.”
Hyrule and Wild exchanged a look, a sure sign of danger, and both sprinted in opposite directions.
He huffed a laugh. Amateurs. Mask and Wind had run him ragged during the war, but once you’ve fought to pre-teens on the daily, there's nothing a pair of teenagers can pull on you that will truly surprise you or throw you off. It was the work of moments to have Wild slung under one arm (wolf pups, honestly, Mask was the same way) and Hyrule by the back of his collar (Wind’s customary position).
“H-how?” Both boys stammered.
“Experience, mud moblins.”
“Do I weight anything to you?” Wild stammered, staring up at him with wide blue eyes.
The grin on his face was easier than usual in situations like these, but then again both teens had given up fighting against him sooner than the last two had ever done. “Hardly. You’ve always been a lightweight.” And with those words he promptly administered a light kick to Hyrule’s lower back, knocking the kid floundering into the stream, and following up with a well-practiced toss that send Wild rocketing in after.
Wind, already stripped down to his shorts and standing waist deep in the water, raised his hands with a shit eating grin. “Six out of Ten, Wild.” The little sea monster called to a spluttering Wild as the kid surfaced, only his face peeking above the surface as he treaded water with a pout. “You need to work on your form, but otherwise- ack!”
A wave splashed up from Hyrule’s direction and Wild sent an appreciative grin the other boy’s way while Wind’s grin melted into a playful one, eyes glinting dangerously.
“Oh, that’s it! You’re just asking for trouble now! Never start a water battle with a pirate, you two, you won’t like how it ends!”
Another, mischief filled, glance was exchanged and both feral heroes descended on the young sailor. It was like watching cucco’s descend on a bokoblin, and Warriors watched with laughter bubbling in his chest as he stripped off his gunk-stained tunic, courtesy of the mud-covered boys he’d wisely decided to pick up, and moved on to his chainmail. The sound of the three youngest heroes' shrieking and shouting sweet music to his ears as Time and the other older heroes made camp just off of the riverbank, teasing each other and generally messing around.
“Wars, why are you- are you joining us?” Wild cocked his dripping head with a curious look as he watched him.
The undershirt slipped off easily as he waded into the stream’s center. “Of course, you two got me muddy too after all, and it’s not like I trust y’all to actually clean up by-” At the slowly spreading grins on the faces of the three, the captain realizes his mistake. “I don’t trust you all to clean up properly, so I’m-”
“Warriors said ‘y’all’!” Wind chortled, eyes glinting madly as a grin stretched over his face. “Oh boy! Just wait ‘till I-”
“Slip of the tongue.” He clipped back, hands settling on his hips as he stared down the three teens. “You tell Twilight about this and I will personally wash your mouth out with soap.”
“You’re the one who said it!” Hyrule pointed out.
“And whoever tells the rancher is committing a verbal atrocity that will only lead to far more in the future.” He huffed. “No one tells, you hear me?”
Wild looked between the others, brows furrowed and lips pursed as he took in Wind’s triumphant grin and Warriors’ scowl. “What’s wrong with saying ‘y’all’?”
The captain staggered back dramatically, hand on his chest and a horrified expression on his face as he stared at his son. “No! Never say that word! That word is an abomination!”
“What word?” Hyrule cocked his head, eyes glinting knowingly, but the captain failed to recognize it in time.
“’Y’all’!” He spat with contempt. “We do not say ‘y’all’ in this house! ‘Y’all’ is a cursed word and the next person who says it is-” - ‘Is on Mask watching duty’ was his go to consequence, but that wouldn’t exactly work right now; Time was a bit old to actually need a supervisor- “is on clothes washing duty with Legend.” He settled on at last, choosing the chore that everyone except, surprisingly, the veteran minded.
“Say the man who just said it four times in a row.” Wind teased, darting out of his grasp with a wide grin.
“Wind! I was trying to see how many times I could make him say it!” Hyrule huffed, pouting at his brother adorably.
“I still don’t get it.” Wild grumbled. “It’s a word? There’s nothing wrong with it as far as I know, ‘y’a-” The captain’s hand was clamped around the kid’s mouth before he could finish his sentence.
“Let's just not.” Warriors huffed; he was beginning to mourn Twilight’s mentor position at the moment. Fortunately, Wild was willing enough to still in is hands and not push the topic, unlike the other two who just egged each other on with ever widening grins. “Right.” He rolled his eyes. “First one with a clean face gets the strawberry scented soap; go.”
Silence fell as nothing save splashing rang over the stream as faces ducked beneath the water, all three boys falling for his favorite trick of all time. Heck, even the old man would probably still cave to the offer of strawberry soap, even now that he was an adult, and Wars couldn’t blame him at all; strawberry scented bubbles were the best bubbles and Twilight and his goat-milk soap could go sniff a skunk if they wanted to contest that.
It took hardly any time at all for all three to emerge, fresh faces and glowing, three sets of eyes al sparkling up at him as a warm chuckle blossomed in his throat. Naturally, he gave the promised soap to all three, citing the ‘I can’t tell who finished first so you all win’ excuse that Grandfather had taught him ages ago.
Wind dutifully set about scrubbing himself clean, and in the meantime, he guided the less experienced duo. “Take so much,” He dolloped a generous potion into Hyrule’s cupped hands. “And rub your hands together, yes, just like that, work it up to a nice lather and just scrub it all over. Take care you get the smelliest bits first so you don’t run out of soap before you get there, yeah?” Both forest children nodded, dutifully following his instructions as he moved to help scrub the traveler’s sopping curls.
It was an easy pattern to fall into, scrubbing the two heads with especial care to remove any sticks and twigs he found along the way. Hyrule was the easier of the two, but Wild held still better while he worked, almost melting under his fingers as he messaged suds into his son’s long locks, a light smile playing over both their faces as he worked, content to sit in the cooling water of the stream as the sun began to set, hands buried in his kid’s long hair as he worked out mud and filth and who knows what else.
Rinsing the sweet-scented bubbles started out innocently enough, but Wars was given a front row seat to watching an accidental splash descend into a full-on war on the water as he scrubbed his own hair clean, and well, if he joined in once he was finished, well, someone had to show Wind that he wasn’t the only hero with some experience on the water.
Wars sighed as he watched Time stirring quietly on his bedroll.
Honestly, his middle kid (he’d finally settled on letting Wind retain his position on oldest, since there was no way Time could be the eldest brother with his gremlin behavior) was something of an idiot. Oh, he loved all three of his boys dearly, but Time was an ass and everyone who knew him well knew it (except maybe Twilight, but that guy was an ass too).
Time hadn’t been sleeping recently, and it was easy to see in the dark bags around his eyes and the almost drifting expression on his face at nights. It was for lack of trying either, the kid- man? - the hero would settle down on his bedroll every night same as the others, but even with sharp eyes shut tight and blanket pulled to his ears, the ‘Old Man’ couldn’t lie still for more than thirty minutes, constantly shifting and fidgeting on his bedroll even as the other heroes steadily dropped off to sleep.
It was just the two of them now, the captain on watch and their leader trying to pretend he was asleep with a scowl on his face.
He was scratching again.
“Alright, that’s enough of that.” war clapped his hands against his knees and pushed himself p, staling over to stand over the largest of the bedrolls and staring down at the lump within. “What’s up, Sprout? You normally snore like a hinox all night long, what’s eating you?”
A single blue eye stared up at him wearily. “If I knew, I would have killed it by now.”
Oof, bad night then. “Do you have any idea what it could be?” He was already settling down next to the group leader’s head, hands reaching to grasp Time’s own and bring them down from where he was, likely unconsciously, clawing at the sides of his face.
“No.” Came the frustrated huff.
“Missing Miss Malon?” He suggested, running his fingers through short blonde hair thoughtfully, mind miles away in a two-story house at castle town as he fell into the all too familiar trap of playing with one of his boys’ hair.
“I thought so at first, and while I do, it doesn’t usually stop me from sleeping.” Time grumbled, staring up at the night sky with pursed lips. “It’s not nightmares or visions either, if anything my dreams have been normal for once.”
“Anxiety perhaps? Are you worrying about the others? Twilight, maybe? Wild?” At the questioning glance he received he shrugged. “Kept me up enough nights, even if you two were there. A bad thing happens once and you're not likely to forget it.”
“Hmm.” Time hummed, leaning unconsciously into his hands and settling on his bed-roll, shoulders falling lax as his single good eyes fluttered softly. “Maybe.”
Whatever it was, it wasn’t bad enough that War’s fingers didn’t put it to rest, and time was asleep in mere minutes, soft snores rumbling over the camp as the captain continued his ministrations, eyes and ears sharp and alert for any disturbance near in within the camp, but body relaxed as he kept the steady rhythm of his fingers through short and silky hair.
When his watch was over though, and it was time to wake the veteran to take his, Wars found himself stuck. Time's fingers were curled tightly in his blue scarf, the man’s head resting easy against his thigh, and any motion small of subtle, would likely send majestic blue fluttering open again with an exhausted air.
Ah well, time to be creative.
Legend grumbled, as usual, at being woken by having his feet touched, and the captain echoed his discomfort as he wrings is sore and likely sprained hand. Time was still asleep though, so there was that at least. Now just to figure out how best to position himself so he could sleep.
Soldier’s experience won over logic, and Wars was asleep in seconds, leaving the camp under Legend’s watch and Time snoozing blissfully at his side.

Riley was awoken, not by Max, but Drake knocking on her door early the next morning. “Rise and shine sleepyhead!”
She glared at him as she held the door open, “Fuck you Walker. No one has the right be so god damn cheerful this early in the morning!”
“Early?! It’s after seven!” He exclaimed.
Riley groaned as she moved away from the door, letting him in, and fell back into bed.
“You said you wanted to be at this meeting.”
“Ugh. Fine!” She kicked out of the covers and started gathering clothes, “Do I have time for a quick shower?”
He gave her a skeptical look, “Are you capable of taking a quick shower?”
She threw a shirt at him, and he laughed as he grabbed it out of the air before it could hit him.
“So, I’m going to assume you haven’t had breakfast?” He smirked at her.
She looked at him like he was insane, “Breakfast? It’s too damn early to eat, what’s wrong with you?”
He shook his head and smiled indulgently, “Go get a shower, I’ll have Liam order some food for you, you can eat in his office when we get there.”
“Thank you!” She ducked into the bathroom feeling a little weird but also a little giddy about Drake and Liam conspiring to take care of her. It was cute, and sweet. And she supposed she would need to eat eventually.
They were the last ones there. Bastien was already seated across the desk from Liam. Riley took the chair against the far wall and Drake took the seat next to Bastien.
“I thought this meeting was concerning some sensitive, classified information?” Bastien shot a pointed look at Riley.
“It is.” Liam answered, “But it concerns her.”
“But she doesn’t have clearance-“
“She has whatever clearance I say she has.” Liam said in a tone that brooked no further discussion. Then he turned and gave her a smile so full of warmth, it felt like the sun had just come out from behind a cloud, “How are you this morning?”
She couldn’t help but smile back, “I’m good, thank you.”
“Drake said you hadn’t eaten yet, so I took the liberty of having some breakfast sent over.” He gestured at a cart filled with covered dishes.
“Thank you, that was very thoughtful.”
“Anything for you, my love.” He told her.
Bastien shifted uncomfortably in his chair. He cleared his throat, “May I ask what this is about your majesty?”
“Yes.” Liam turned back toward Bastien and sighed. “I’ve called you and Drake here as the heads of the King’s Guard because it’s come to my attention that we have a traitor within the guard.”
Bastien sat bolt upright, “No, that isn’t possible! At least not in my division, I have a very thorough vetting processing, I trust all of my men implicitly!”
“As do I.” Drake affirmed, “Yet we still have a traitor.”
Bastien gave him a skeptical look, “How do we know that?”
“Because,” Liam leaned forward, dropping the folder Jason had given him onto his desk and pushing it towards Bastien, “we have proof that Kiara Theron arranged to have Duke Lambros enter Lady Riley’s room that night at Applewood, ensured that the lock was disabled and paid off a reporter to capture the whole thing on camera. She has confessed to everything and provided us with her laptop. The email soliciting her help was encrypted.”
“Ok,” Bastien shifted in his seat nervously, “I still don’t see what any of that has to do with the guard.”
“Because it was our encryption.” Liam told him, “Lieutenant Toussaint traced it, it came from within the guard itself.”
“I-“ Bastien paled as he looked back and forth between Liam and Drake, certain that he had been caught. Even if he hadn’t, it was only a matter of time before Toussaint figured it out. There was a reason they had coaxed him away from the military. His cyber ops skill set was formidable.
“We’re going to need to start by doing deep dives into everyone’s finances, known associates and-“
Bastien’s shoulders slumped, “That won’t be necessary.”
Drake and Liam turned to him in surprise. “Why not?” Liam inquired.
Taking a deep breath, he looked at Liam, because he couldn’t look Drake in the eye, and said, “Because it was me. I sent the email.”
“What?” Liam’s mouth fell open.
“Why?!” Drake looked like someone had just punched him in the gut. Which, metaphorically, they had.
“Your Majesty, please, I was merely following orders, It wasn’t personal, I have always been loyal to my king!”
“To your king….” Liam processed that. Since it clearly hadn’t been on his orders and he was still just a crown prince at the time, that meant…. “My father. That fucking bastard!”
“Shit!” Drake breathed. As blindsided as he was by Bastien, it had to be ten times worse for Liam knowing that his own father had conspired to take his happiness from him, to separate him from the woman he loved. At least Bastien had the dubious defense of following orders.
Bastien continued his explanation, “He ordered it and I set it up through Lady Kiara. There was no one else involved.”
“So dragging her out of the ball that night and trying to force her on a plane to New York, that was all part of his orders?”
“Yes, and he was pissed when he found out she was still here. He wanted me to ensure that she left the country, but by then, he was no longer king, and I refused his order. I followed yours, remember?” He was desperate to make sure Liam understood that he was loyal to him now. “I made sure she didn’t get on the plane, I released the Beaumont’s from custody, just like you told me to!”
“Yes, you did, that’s true.” Liam narrowed his eyes as he struggled to retain his composure, “But Bastien, if your loyalty had switched to me upon my coronation, why didn’t you tell me then? You could have saved us weeks of investigations, this…all this….could have been avoided! You’ve had weeks to come clean!”
If he had known, if he could have started damage control that very night, maybe he wouldn’t have had to send her away at all! They could be engaged right now; all the heartache could have been avoided. It made his head spin.
“My loyalty did switch to you upon your coronation! I have followed your orders implicitly! But I-I….I guess part of me was ashamed of my part in it and part of me wanted to protect your relationship with your father.”
Liam scoffed, “You should be ashamed and my relationship with my father is not your job! Serving and protecting the crown is your job!”
“That’s what I was doing! Constantine said you needing protecting from her!” He pointed accusingly at Riley.
“Me?” Riley gasped in confusion, “But why? I would never do anything to hurt Liam!”
“Wouldn’t you?” Bastien spat as he looked pointedly between her and Drake. “Everyone at court can see-“
“That’s enough!” Drake barked at him, “You don’t get to judge her!”
Liam laughed but it was a bitter sound. “The irony is that you caused the very thing you’re accusing her of.”
Bastien blinked, “What do you mean?”
“He means that I didn’t have feelings for Drake until after the events of the coronation ball. I was devastated, and Drake was there to pick up the pieces.”
Bastien looked at Drake in confusion, “But, it was clear that you-“
“Yeah, me. I had feelings for her, but she didn’t even realize it.” He looked around the room and said, “Jesus. This is all my fault. Riley, Liam, apparently everyone in the world could tell.”
“This is not your fault Drake!” Riley told him.
“But I-“
“She’s right.” Liam interrupted, “It’s my father’s fault.”
Turning to Bastien Liam continued, “I don’t like it, but I understand why you followed the order. Following the king’s orders is you job.”
“Thank you, your-“
Liam held up a hand, “I’m not done. You have followed orders but not without consistently questioning my authority.”
Bastien tried to protest but Liam shut him down, “Stop. This is what I’m talking about. You question me at every turn. I had to threaten you the night of the coronation ball to get you to follow my orders. I had to spend weeks investigating this when you could have told me at any point over the last month and a half. I know you’re not an idiot, you know how I feel about Riley. Yet you let me suffer. You knew she was innocent. Not just innocent, but the victim of an attempted sexual assault and you stood by and let the press vilify her. These were choices that you made; these were moral failings on your part. And even if you believed she was in love with Drake… how does that justify it? That just means that you did all of those things to the woman he loves. The man you claim to love like a son.”
Bastien lifted his eyes from his lap to look guiltily at Drake. He took in the stormy expression on Drake’s face and closed his eyes in defeat.
Liam fixed Bastien with a steely glare and asked, “And the blackmail against Olivia? Was that also on my father’s orders?”
Bastien nodded dejectedly. “All I did was deliver it. He’s had that file for years.”
“And all of this was for what? To ensure I picked Madeleine?”
“To ensure you picked someone appropriate.”
Liam stared at him in consternation, “I understand my father’s objects to Lady Riley. What was his objection to Lady Olivia?”
Bastien sighed, “Her parents’ transgressions were enough. You don’t understand how his mind works, Liam. Your mother was the only reason Olivia wasn’t banished to some third world country, stripped of her titles and lands.”
Liam’s mouth fell open, “She was a child!”
Bastien shrugged, “Children grow up. Sometimes they avenge or carry on their parent’s objectives.”
“Was Regina aware of any of this?” Liam’s jaw was clenched, his voice tight. He had to know how many members of his own family had conspired to betray him. It was no secret that Regina had favored Madeleine.
Bastien shook his head, “To the best of my knowledge, no. Your father trusts very little.”
That was an understatement. After Eleanor’s death, he had become increasingly paranoid and secretive. Everyone chocked it up to grief. He had seemed to mellow a little after marrying Regina, but maybe he never let himself fully trust in her.
“What about Madeleine herself?” Liam’s voice was soft, but whatever undertone Bastien heard in it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up.
“Again, your majesty, to the best of my knowledge, I was the only one involved.”
“How can I trust your word?” Liam asked him.
“I have never lied to you, your majesty.”
“Just omitted crucial information. You may have followed the letter of the law, but you certainly did not have my back and that’s a pretty important quality in the head of the King’s Guard, don’t you think?”
“I-“ Bastien stopped, realizing there was nothing he could say to excuse himself.
Drake had stood up and was pacing back and forth across the floor, his mind already spinning with actions that needed to be taken but unwilling to speak in front of Bastien. The man he had considered a father figure.
Liam’s eyes flicked up to take Drake in. “Do you have any questions for him, Drake?”
“Nope.”
“Drake….”
“What? What could you possibly have to say to me right now?”
Bastien’s eyes darted around the room. “I…I’m sorry. I truly am. I should have come clean the night of the coronation. I had no choice but to follow orders when Constantine was still king, but I could have mitigated some of the damage.”
“But you didn’t!” Drake exploded, “You sat by and watched all three of us struggle with an impossible situation and you said nothing!”
“What can I do to make this right? I’ll help with the investigation to clear her name, I’ll-“
“You’ve done enough.” Liam’s voice managed to be quite but commanding at the same time.
“Your Majesty?”
“As of this moment, you’re on administrative leave, pending a full investigation. You will hand over your duties to your second in command immediately. You will surrender your badge and crown issued firearm before you leave this room. But make no mistake, leave means you are still a member of the guard, with all the requisite rules and responsibilities that entails. Since you are so good at following the letter of the law, let me be clear that I am commanding you not to give my father, or anyone else, a head’s up that we know any of this. In fact, you are not to tell anyone anything about any matters pertaining to security, the crown or Lady Riley without my express consent. That is a direct order. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Bastien hung his head.
“I want you to look at this woman.” Liam gestured to Riley, “Take a good look. Because I will be breaking my engagement to Madeleine within the week. All of this was for nothing. Riley will be your queen, assuming she’ll still have me after all this, and I cannot have a head of security that she can’t trust, that I can’t trust with her safety and wellbeing. You chose the wrong side, Bas.”
“Your Majesty, Liam, I… I didn’t choose sides! I merely followed orders! You have to understand-“
“I understand that you were compelled to follow orders, but again, you have not given sufficient, nor really any, reason for your failure to disclose pertinent information that you knew damn good and well I would want to know! Information that directly affected me, your king, the one you swore to serve. Your loyalty to my father was commendable, but I need men in my employee that are loyal to me. Now please hand in your badge and firearm. You will return home to Cordonia immediately. If anyone asks why, cite personal health concerns requiring you to take some time off. You will not remove any files from the security offices. I trust you won’t need to be escorted off the train?”
“No, Your Majesty. I’m good.” He said dejectedly as he placed his badge and SIG Sauer pistol on the desk in front of Liam.
He stopped on his way to the door and turned toward Riley, “For what it’s worth, I am sorry, and I deeply regret the pain I’ve caused you.” He glanced at Drake then dropped his head and exited the room.
Liam broke the tense silence in the room that Bastien had left in his wake by leaning back and blowing out a loud breath, “Well, did not expect the meeting to go like that!”
“Yeah.” Drake snorted, conflicting emotions still colliding inside him. He dropped into the chair across from Liam and gave him a helpless look, “What the fuck now?”
“Now you go make sure he actually leaves the train with no issues, have Lt. Toussaint lock him out of all our systems then place a tail on him. I want him followed, I want to know where he goes and who he talks to. Tap his phones, get someone that’s still back at home to bug his house before he gets there. We have to be certain he was working alone. I’ll find Mara and brief her on her new responsibilities and alert all the proper people to the change. Then let’s meet back here to discuss how we’re going to proceed. My father has to be neutralized before we can do anything else.”.
“On it!” Drake jumped up, happy to have something to do. “Riley, do you want to come with me, or go back to your room, or stay here, or….?”
“Um…can I just stay here?” She asked.
Drake glanced at Liam who nodded. “Ok, yeah. I’ll be back.”
After he left the room, Liam turned to Riley, “How are you holding up?”
“I mean, I just found out the person that set me up was your father! Someone I thought liked me!”
“I understand. It’s quiet a shock for me as well. But Riley, love, you don’t have to worry. He’s not king anymore and he’s dying. He can easily be neutralized and contained.”
“Liam, I don’t know what any of that means.”
“It’s ok, love, once Drake gets back, I’ll explain it all.” He reached for the phone and summoned Mara to his office.

Part five of marriage AU. Sorry for being gone for so long, I'm moving rn and my dog had to go the vet so I been busy. Hope you enjoy. Part six should out later this week.. net part will have more hypnos x reader.
🌙💤💤🌙
Time passed much quickly here. Almost too fast. Weeks had passed into a full month before You knew it.
Dusa came every other day to dust and You looked forward to your chats.
The library was coming together nicely. Even though You did have to read every scroll since no one, not even Nyx knew what they held.
Nyx had been surprised by how much there was. You thought you even saw the faintest of blush on her cheeks.
"I knew I had a big collection but I didn't realize how many I've picked over the years." Nyx murmured. "I was so busy raising several children along with Zagreus once he came later with Hypnos and his brother."
You also found out that Hypnos had way more siblings, way way more than you had sisters. But you haven't quite gotten the story about why he talked only about two of his brothers.
You peeked over the scroll you were reading in hopes that maybe somehow it had gotten smaller.
The pile still loomed threatenly the corner.
You tsk when you saw it was still the same as before.
Slowly, the gods and shades of the underworld were becoming friends of sorts.
Zagreus, much like Hypnos, had also become a regular to your library. Often with questions about your former home and any advice you may have.
You knew you weren't getting the full story of why he really wanted out but all in due time.
Charon, a god that Hermes often talked about, was nerve wracking to meet at first but he warmed up quickly to You when sharing stories of Hermes.
Nyx, even as your mother in law, had become someone who You looked forward to having the chats with. The both of you talked over the scrolls and you quite enjoyed the stories of her youth, the rare times she talked about it.
And there was Dusa, Achilles (even after that embarrassing day), even Cerberus would give you a small single wag in greeting.
And so many others. They felt more… honest. Your old home had rules and politics that you were never able to quite grasp.
You never felt right at home, with a different father than all of your sisters and a different power from all of them.
But they loved you and you loved them in return.
Homesick as you were, You were embarrassed to admit there was someone else on your mind.
Hypnos.
You haven't seen Hypnos since that night he slept in your bed. Not really anyway.
He came once a day for a few minutes, made a quick comment on the library or at Zagreus if the prince was going through the scrolls when he came in. But that's it. You felt almost like a pet that Hypnos just made sure was still alive before taking off to wherever.
You blinked at the scroll as you realized that you didn't read a single word. Your mind had drifted away from the scrolls and back to Hypnos.
Again.
🌙💤💤🌙
"Do you have anything on a thing called a Bone Hydra?" Zagreus had asked one day out of the blue, his desperation was clear in his voice.
You put down your tasks list to look at him. "I know what a hydra is but what do you mean by a bone hydra?"
Zagreus slumped, "It is this horrible thing that-"
"Didn't I already tell you what you needed to do?" Hypnos interrupted. "Just don't get hit or die!" He floated to the pile and plucked some scrolls from the top.
Zagreus sighed, "I know, I know. Don't die. It doesn't help as much as you think, Hypnos."
Hypnos dropped the scrolls on the table for you. Slowly but surely the piles had been going down. However, it was helpful to have someone who can easily get to the top.
"Maybe the issue is that you're not moving fast enough." Hypnos said.
"Yes, I am sure that is exactly why, Hypnos. Thank you, all my problems are now solved." Zagreus rolled his eyes.
"Fantastic! Glad to be of service!" Hypnos laughed.
You had to cover a smile before you looked back at Zagreus.
"Zagreus, if I find anything on this bone hydra you will be the first to know." You said.
"Y/N, you're being too kind to Zagreus. Like I said, just move faster."
You laughed at Zagreus' eye roll.
"So this is where you been hiding boy." Hades stepped in the room despite being almost too tall to do.
The energy in the room changed in a way you never felt before. The sheer anger that came from both father and son made the room feel so small.
All three of you stood but it was Hypnos who moved toward you. He blocked you from Hades' sight, his smile never leaving his face. But there was a tightness to his smile. You peeked around him, eyes focused on Zagreus and his father.
Zagreus scoffed, "Oh good Father you were able find the library, would you like some help reading or -"
"Watch your mouth, boy." Hades growled. Then he turned to look directly at you and Hypnos.
You tighten your hands, hoping your nervousness won't show.
"Y/N. Correct?" Hades asked but not in a way that was a question.
You pushed past Hypnos and You ignored his look, you did tell him you couldn't hide from Hades forever.
"Yes. It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Hades."
For a moment, no one said anything.
Then finally Hades spoke, "I heard from Nix about your work on the library."
"Yes, I have some experience with libraries and thank you for the opportunity." You replied, grateful that your voice stayed calm.
"Hmm." Hades looked around the library and You wanted to hide behind Hypnos but resisted the urge.
"Father, what is it that you want?" Zagreus sighed, "Can't you tell you are making everyone uncomfortable?"
Hades' eyes snapped back to Zagreus, "Silent! Your rudeness is what makes people uncomfortable."
Without taking his eyes off his son, Hades said to You. "Y/N, you may continue your work."
"Yes sir, t-thank you." You said, your heart racing, still not convinced father and son will start fighting in the library.
You felt Hypnos' hand on your back, warm and steady, and you let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding in.
"Well!" Hypnos said cheerfully, "Y/N needs to get back to work and I know I certainly do."
Hades sighed, "Yes You do. In fact, Hypnos. I need to have a word with you. Alone."
Without waiting for Hypnos' agreement, Hades turned and walked off.
"I'm sorry about my Father." Zagreus' hands in
"No. It's fine. Went as well as it could have." You said, glad the whole event was over.
Zagreus murmured his excuses and quickly left the library.
A moment passed and you turned your head to look up at Hypnos, his hand still on your back.
"Thank you." You whispered, a blush on your cheeks.
"Oh, sure. Hades takes some getting used to." Hypnos grinned. "I've to go see what Hades wants from me."
"Are you okay with being alone with...him?" You asked. You would happily never share a room with Hades ever again, let alone a one on one meeting.
His hand moved away and you found yourself already missing the warmth.
"Of course, he loves my charming wit." Hypnos waved a hand in farewell.
You laughed and watched Hypnos floated off.
With a sigh, you fell into your chair. Not even the underworld gods were spared of politics and drama.
🌙💤💤🌙
"So- so could I ask you a question?" Dusa asked, her duster moved in quick, neat movements.
You pulled your eyes away from the new take list you made. Since the library was getting closer and closer to being done, you had thought about opening it up but there was still much to do. Also you weren't sure of the best to keep track of who borrowed what. And you still needed to ask Nix but you pushed the thoughts out.
"Of course, Dusa. Is there a scroll you're looking for?"
"Well, no. I wanted to ask… how did you and Hypnos meet? I wasn't aware he was seeing anyone let alone getting married." Dusa bit her lip, "But don't feel like you have to talk about it if you don't want to! I know it is not any of my business."
"No. No, it's fine. I didn't meet him until our wedding or at least I think so." You put down your quill. You couldn't help but feel like you met him before that but for the life of you, you couldn't remember. "It was an arranged marriage. I… I've been told he did a favor for my mother during a war, one she would have lost if not for him."
Dusa bobbed next to you, "I'm sorry. I don't know why people or gods act like their daughters are things to trade. It's like they don't even see their daughters as full people."
You blinked, surprised at Dusa's tone. But you smiled, liking the more fiery side of your friend.
"I don't know either. But at least he is kind to me. And he hasn't been pushy if you know what I mean or anything like that. It could have been worse."
"That's good!" Dusa sighed, "Hypnos and I don't exactly get along really but I'm glad to know he has been kind to you."
"You don't? Is there a reason?" You cupped your face in your hands, elbows eyes on Dusa.
Hypnos didn't talk about other people in the house, other than his mother and brother. You wanted to know more but couldn't get him to crack in the few minutes you saw him every day.
"Well I mean." Dusa paused as if trying to find the words. "He isn't mean but you can tell he doesn't care about his work. And he doesn't seem to understand why anyone else cares. He… I don't know. I'm making it sound worse than it is. I'm sorry, Y/N."
She bobbed again nervously. "He is a good guy! He and I just don't click at all."
You smiled even as a knot formed in your chest. Is that what Hades wanted with Hypnos a few weeks ago? Again you cursed yourself for not being able to get Hypnosis to talk to you.
"It's okay, Dusa. It is not a big deal."
After a few more minutes of chitchat, Dusa left, her duster still working madly.
You sat down and stared down at your list. The words might as well be scribbles for all of the sense it made to you.
With a sigh, you pushed away the papers. Why in the world do you care that Hypnos wouldn't talk to you? Or that you still didn't understand a bloody thing about the god.
Why do you care at all?

The Crown Found in Rose Thorns - fic
Characters: Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Talia al Ghul, Jon Kent, Cassandra Cain, Bruce Wayne Pairing: jondami Summary: “My name is Jonathan Kent, of the Kingdom of Krypton. And I’m here to marry Prince Damian of the Kingdom of Gotham.” A/N: I told @berryfartsart some medieval jondami headcanons inspired by the DKOS announcement and they cyberbullied me into writing the AU for it. (Kidding, of course.) Anyway get ready for some old fashion slow burns and smoopy goopy love~ (but like...eventually, this won’t be fast updated haha)
~~
Damian huffed, crossing his arms, wincing as the Cassandra pulled the brush through his curls once more.
“This is a farce.” He droned. “A complete jester act.”
Talia chuckled, but didn’t look back at her son. Continued brushing her own hair.
“It’s going to be the same as the past three days.” Damian warned. “They’re all simpletons not worthy of my time, or anyone else’s.”
“Then I would at least like to remind you, my dear precious boy.” Talia hummed, effortlessly twirling her hair into a braid. “That I am not asking you to marry today. I am asking you to explore what traits might appeal to you, what kingdoms you trust, or don’t.”
Damian winced as his sister tugged gently at his hair, and scoffed. “It shouldn’t be up to me. My marriage is unimportant.” He mumbled. “You should be focusing on the heir’s marriage.”
Talia sighed, dropping her brush onto her vanity and standing. She stared into the mirror for a moment before leaning over and plucking Damian’s crown off its stand. She turned and slowly walked across the room, staring warmly down at Damian as she approached him.
“Richard does not have a threat hanging over his life.” She murmured, pushing his bangs back before carefully placing the crown on his head. “Richard does not need all the protection he can get.”
“And our brother already has a suitor.” Cassandra chimed in with a giggle. “That warrior princess from the Tamaranean lands.”
“Indeed.” Talia agreed. “So even if he needed any protection from something he could not handle himself, it appears he already has it.”
“Jason then.” Damian tried. He twisted to look at Cassandra. “Or you.” He sat up. “You’re already betrothed to that bard woman!” He turned back to his mother. “Why can’t we make a big deal about her nuptials instead!”
“Because her grandfather is not threatening to steal her away and hold her prisoner and eventually murder her for power.” Talia laughed, holding Damian’s face with a hand on his cheek. “And I am not above a political marriage if that means you have two kingdoms protecting you instead of just ours.”
Damian pursed his lips, ignored the heat rising through his face. “…And if I pick no one to attempt a courtship?”
“Like I said, my beloved.” Talia leaned down and kissed his forehead. “I am not above political marriage to protect you.” She smiled, eyes darting between his. “Even if you forever hate me for it.”
She stood back up, adjusted his crown, then Cassandra’s, then her own, and turned to glide out of the room.
~~
The throne room was abuzz with citizens of the town, and even visitors who had come to try their luck and win Prince Damian’s hand.
Damian sighed as he followed Richard onto their altar. Scanning the room, he could already see no one of merit, and no one of interest. So it was going to be another boring, pointless, wasted day.
“This should be for you.” Damian mumbled again.
Richard snorted, plopping into his seat. “Sorry I found love on my own, little one. Without Mother and Father’s help.” He smirked. “Besides, you should be nice to me. I don’t have to sit here with you all day. I’m just here out of the goodness of my heart, and fondness for my poor, sorrowful, lonely little brother.”
“Piss off. You’re here to amuse yourself at my expense.” Damian rolled his eyes, sitting more politely in the throne next to him. “And so you can go cackle at my misfortune with our brothers later.”
“Nonsense. We cackle at your misfortune on a normal day too.” Richard promised with a wink. “How’s that growth spurt treating you anyway?”
Damian frowned, tugging at his sleeves. “…I have requested a new fitting with Alfred after today’s…festivities.”
Dick smiled again, running his fingers through Damian’s neatly combed curls. “Your clothes will fit for longer than a week one day soon, kiddo.” He let his fingers fall from Damian’s hair to his cheek. “…I’m not just here to keep you company, you know.”
“…Oh?”
“Mhm.” Richard nodded. Damian watched as his blue eyes darted around the room. “I’m here to vet your potential suitors. Make sure they are good enough for you, strong enough to protect you-”
“I can protect myself, thank you.”
“-and this is the fourth day of the festivities. No doubt your grandfather has heard of them by now. Someone has to make sure no undesirables have snuck in, or attempt to make a move.”
“Do you truly think he would be so brash?” Damian questioned. “Besides, this whole thing was Mother’s doing. So, I thought that was why Father keeps attending, to keep watch.”
“He is. But like I said, this is the fourth day. Enough time to get word and move to strike. And forgive me if I’d rather be safe than sorry.” Richard smiled apologetically. “So Father and I are in here, Jason and Cassandra are running the perimeter and Timothy is monitoring the guard towers.”
Damian sighed, staring out into the crowd once more. A few of the guests were glancing their way now. Giggling and falling back into their whispers. Some of the less modest ones outright stared, giving Damian as flirty a smile as they could.
“…Well, as much as I appreciate your concern, I’m afraid it will all be for naught.” Damian drooped in his chair and crossed his arms. “If today is anything like the past three, it will be the most boring day of your life, and nothing will come to fruition.”
“Never say never, little one.” Richard offered dreamily. “Love strikes when you least expect it.”
“Love.” Damian scoffed, glancing over as Bruce and Talia entered the room, hands clasped between them. “Who said any of this was for love?”
“Well.” Richard hummed. “It is because we love you.” He offered. “And we’re hoping not to make this an arranged affair. That we can find you happiness in a partner as well as protection. That’s why we want you to choose.”
“And if I never choose anyone?”
Richard blinked, then offered a smile. But it was sad, almost pitying.
Damian crossed his arms tighter, glancing towards their parents as the King and Queen sat next to them.
“As I keep telling you all, I can protect myself.” Damian mumbled. “And I’m content being alone.”
Richard kept his sad smile. Damian refused to look at him anymore.
~~
Damian wanted to rip his hair out.
As he had predicted many times that day, it was just more of the same.
A blacksmith offering the best weapons, and the safest house on the continent.
A nomad promising a life of adventure and delicious foods.
A group of sisters offering as many heirs as they could carry, and their father as the sole brave knight to protect them all.
A witch and a wizard together, offering magic as protection and endless fertility to continue the kingdom’s bloodline.
A princess offering the best clothes and parties.
A duke who…wasn’t even sure why he was there. He was sent by his father, and didn’t even know Damian’s name.
A young woman who merely offered her humor and loyalty. She could make him laugh, and made it clear that was all she had.
Damian almost agreed to meet with her, if only because he appreciated her honesty.
The sun was dipping in the sky outside the western window, and Damian could feel his stomach starting to growl. He glanced to his brother, who had sat all but stock-still all day, doing exactly as he’d said he would. Watching the room, vetting the visitors. Making sure these potential suitors were good enough for his littlest brother.
“…How many more do you think Mother will have stroll through here?” Damian whispered. “I don’t think I can take much more of this mind-numbing torture.”
Richard chuckled. “I’ll give her four more, then push for a recess. Alright?”
“Thank you.” Damian breathed in relief, glancing out towards the room. The crowd had thinned slightly, with some parties departing when their candidate was politely rejected. Others were just the local townsfolk, remaining purely to stick their noses in royal business.
Talia called for the next suitor to step up, and on the far side of the room, Damian saw three people stepping forward. But before they could make it even a yard, one of the large doors across from the thrones groaned open.
“Am I late?” A male voice called. A wave of chuckles swam around the room, and even Damian found himself smirking.
“Depends on what you’re looking for, son.” Bruce called. Despite the normal nature of the interruption, Damian could already see both his father and brother had put their hands on the hilt of their swords.
“Apologies, Your Highnesses,” Alfred appeared behind the man. He sent a glare over his shoulder as he passed by him. “I had asked him to wait a few moments, but he clearly refused. I do hope we aren’t interrupting.”
“No.” Bruce waved to three people apologetically, who nodded and disappeared back into the crowd. “If he is here for Damian, then we can hear him out.”
“I am!” The stranger called. When he moved, the sound of armor clanked around him. “Um, yes. I mean. I am. I am here for Prince Damian.”
“…Though tardiness is not a good first impression, I must say.” Talia scolded quietly. Bruce gave her a gentle smile and patted her hand. “Bring him forward.”
“Great!” The man – young, by the sound of it, probably closer to a boy – called, leaping past Alfred. “I mean, uh, thank you, Your Highness. For the opportunity.”
Damian watched the man as he walked the long carpet forward, and he felt his eyes narrowing in curiosity. He had dark hair that seemed permanently windblown framing his face, and an awkward smile that almost seemed like it was about to burst from his face.
What really struck Damian’s interest, however, were his eyes. They were a sharp violet, a color Damian didn’t recall ever seeing on a human being before. They were fascinating. Beautiful, even, if he really had to describe them.
As he approached, Damian realized the man – boy, he truly was a boy – was around his age. Seventeen like himself at most, but more likely a year or two younger. What surprised him about that, though, was the armour he wore. While a sparkling silver and recently cleaned, Damian could see nicks and dents in it, even a few shadows that could easily be blood stains, if he got close enough to look.
Barely seventeen and already a battle-worn war veteran?
Attached to the shoulder plate of his armour was a brooch that fastened his bright red cloak together around his neck. It was gold, shaped like a freshly cut diamond, with a large S painted blue on the inside.
Damian didn’t recognize the coat of arms. And Damian knew all the coat of arms of every kingdom and town on the continent.
That was suspicious.
He glanced to his side again. Richard had not taken his hand off his sword.
The boy had reached their feet now, that large smile still adorning his face.
“Hello.” He said plainly. “My name is Jonathan Kent, of the Kingdom of Krypton.”
Talia huffed, raising her head. “And what are you here for, Sir Jonathan?”
Jonathan’s smile, impossibly, seemed to widen.
“Well, Your Highness.” He started, turning his head to stare directly at Damian. Damian found himself flinching under the intense gaze. “I’m here to marry Prince Damian of the Kingdom of Gotham.”
A wave of gasps rolled through the room, followed by an almost deathly silence. While they were all here to propose a courtship and future with the prince, no one had dared to be so forward! Just as no one should have. It was presumptuous and out of place. Everyone knew that. Everyone.
Bruce and Talia glanced at each other, and Richard had the gall to stifle a laugh in his fist.
But Damian.
He was tired, he was annoyed. He was fed up with this charade that had not only taken up almost a week of his life, but one he did not want to partake in, in the first place. He was fed up with people looking at him. Fed up with being treated like a thing, a prize.
So as his parents glanced at each other, and the court calmed themselves over the offense, Damian stood, moving to the front of the altar.
“I beg your pardon?” He spat, brushing off Richard’s fingers as he tried to grab him. “How dare you think I’d want to marry a nameless peasant such as yourself.”
“Well, past experience says you wouldn’t be that against it.” Jonathan shrugged, armor clanking. “But that also is a moot point, because I’m not a peasant. I’m Jonathan, from the Kingdom of Krypto-”
“I’ve never heard of it.” Damian declared. “And I know every kingdom here to the coasts. Which makes you a liar, dear knight.”
The moniker was all but sneered, but Jonathan just let his smile grow a little wider, a little…fonder.
Suddenly Jonathan glanced over Damian’s shoulder. “My father’s name is Clark Kent, but he also sometimes goes by Kal. You’ve fought at his side before, King Bruce.”
Damian whirled around to find his father nodding. “Indeed I have.” Bruce frowned. “I don’t recall him being from any kingdom though. He called himself a traveler.”
“A…recent development.” Jonathan admitted. “One we are still getting used to. But Krypton is his – our – home, and once the truth was discovered, they welcomed us back with open arms.”
“Your father is king?” Jonathan nodded. “Quite the…development, as you said.” Bruce murmured. He glanced at Dick, who shook his head. “He never mentioned a son.”
“He has two. Myself and my older brother, Connor.” A nervous chuckle. “He was…very protective of us as we traveled. Hid us in forests and with witches when he and mother had dealings in towns and villages. Apparently whatever ousted him from Krypton all those years ago, he was afraid we would be its next target.”
“None of this is relevant to today.” Damian cut in, whirling back around to face the suitor. “How long have you been under the title of prince?”
“A few years.”
“And in a few years you did not learn any manners?” Damian scolded, crossing his arms. “You do not enter another’s kingdom and demand someone’s hand in marriage.”
“I did not demand.” Jonathan countered. “I promised.”
Damian felt heat rise to his cheeks. “And who said I would choose you? How do you know I have not chosen anyone to court yet?”
“Past experience.”
“Past experience with who?”
“You.”
The room’s silence grew tense. Damian’s hands balled into fists.
“I have never met you for a second in my life.”
Jonathan lowered his voice. “Are you so sure?”
Damian narrowed his eyes, and opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by his mother.
“Damian.” She hummed. “…What do you think of this…gentleman? Are you interested in him?”
“I think he’s a complete buffoon.” Damian answered instantly. Jonathan chuckled to himself. “An arrogant, deceptive moron.”
Jonathan merely blinked. “Your Highness, that doesn’t answer her question.”
Damian felt a blush blossoming on his face. “You-”
“And if we’re going to marry within the year, perhaps you should answer quickly, so we can begin our courtship.”
“Again, who said I would ever want to marry you?” Damian demanded.
Jonathan shrugged again. “Well, so far, you haven’t said you don’t.”
Damian felt his jaw go rigid. This idiot. This disrespectful, uneducated boy who claims he fell into power. So sure of himself, so narcissistic. And he already thought Damian belonged to him? That Damian was already his?
That smile was still plastered to his face. It was mischievous, and held a secret.
Held a challenge.
Say no, it said. I dare you. Let me embarrass you in front of your court and walk away with your tail between your legs. I dare you.
Damian never could turn down a dare. A test. And if it was a challenge Jonathan Kent of Krypton wanted, it was a challenge he would get.
He wanted to court Damian? Fine. Let him court Damian. Damian would eat him alive. Emotionally tear him limb from limb. Send him crawling back to Krypton wondering why he ever even bothered with the youngest Prince of Gotham.
After a moment, Damian returned the smile, slowly walked down the altar steps, and moved towards the knight. Stopped only inches away, and stared up into those mystical purple eyes.
There was something in those eyes, Damian noted. Something just out of reach. Purposefully hidden. Hidden from everyone? Or just Damian?
This close, and Damian was reminded once more of the marks on his armor. The red shadows he’d noticed before, he could now confirm were blood. Old and flaking, and much more of it than he first realized. Not his own, Damian decided, based on their locations. Blood from others.
Mischievous…and dangerous.
(And beautiful!, his brain supplied. But he ignored that part. Stayed focused on the challenge at hand.)
He glanced down between them when he noticed Jonathan’s fingers twitch, like he wanted to reach out. Want to touch him. Damian let his gaze rise. Smirked, and reveled in the scene of Jonathan biting his lip, just slightly.
“Yes, Mother.” He whispered. But his voice was heard through the whole room. “I think I am interested.”
Jonathan kept his gaze. Whispered back, “I knew you would be.”
“Your arrogance will be the death of you, Traveler.” Damian hummed, turning away. He began back up the steps, was almost to the top, when he heard the quietest words ever spoken.
“No, I do believe only you will be, love.”
Damian spun back around at the tender sound, his face heating up. Jonathan was still staring, but now his gaze was softer, more adoring. Like he’d known Damian for years.
Like he really was here just to profess his eternal love and marry him on the spot.
…Curious.
Suddenly, a hand was on Damian’s shoulder, and he turned to find Richard above him, watching Jonathan as he tugged Damian back to his seat.
Talia began speaking to Jonathan, Bruce adding a word or two, as Richard and Damian sat back down. That look was gone from Jonathan’s face now, back to business as the queen set a time for him to return the next day to spend time with her son.
“…First impression?” Damian murmured to his brother. He felt himself twitching every so often, when Jonathan would glance his way.
“Honestly? Suspicious.” Richard returned. “I’ll need to look deeper into this history he’s claiming. See if Father and I can get a hold of Clark. Find out about the status of Krypton.” Richard paused, then looked over at him. “Are you honestly interested in him?”
Damian shrugged. “If not for love, then for my personal entertainment.”
“That’s cruel, if he’s genuine.”
“Do you think he is?”
Richard looked back. The knight was bowing to their parents now. Stood, and turned to the two of them to bow again. When he stood upright once more, he gave Damian a wink, then turned to walk back down the aisle and out of the room.
Richard clicked his tongue as Jonathan disappeared out the large door. Glanced at Damian with a sly smile. “…Ask me again after your first date tomorrow.”
Damian groaned and slumped in his throne.

Cowgirl and Engineer
Chapter 3
Warnings: DUBCON, coercion, Swearing, angst, vaguely described dubcon sex
After the Brock debacle, Y/N decided to lay low for awhile. She spent all her time in her room, in class or with Frostie.
Wanda and Nat tried to get her to hang out with them but she always declined, not wanting to deal with Sharon.
A couple of weeks later she was feeling stir crazy so finally caved and went to Weber's with them.
Sharon and Bucky were supposed to be on a date so Y/N wasn't feeling as stressed at the idea. Of course they just had to stop by the bar after dinner.
Sharon headed straight for the bathroom and Bucky came over to say hello, sitting next to Y/N. Everyone chatted until Sharon came out from the bathroom looking pissed as soon as she saw who Bucky was sitting by. She came up, made Bucky move and sat between them looking very pleased with herself.
Y/N rolled her eyes and turned to talk to Sam on her other side.
Of course Sharon couldn't leave well enough alone "You know, Y/N I've seen how you look at Bucky and it's not ok. You need to find your own man".
Y/N's eyes almost rolled back into her head. "I look at Bucky like an acquaintance. Anyone who was into a person like you wouldn't be my type anyhow".
Sharon snorted "Glad you know he's out of your league"
Y/N laughed, "That's not what I said but if it makes you feel better, whatever."
A guy Y/N didn't know came up to the table said hi and looked right at her. "I'm Jack. We haven't met but I've seen you at the cafe and wanted to know if you would like to go out with me" Y/N smiled "That's very sweet but-"
Sharon interrupted "She'd love to." And gave Jack Y/N's phone number. Y/N just grimaced and nodded as Jack walked away.
Nat turned to Sharon 'What the fuck Sharon? You can't just accept dates and give out other peoples phone numbers without permission"
Sharon scoffed "It'll be good for her. You want to go, right Y/N? I'll help you get dressed up. We could even go shopping for a date outfit"
Y/N was very uncomfortable with the whole thing, especially since it was Sharon asking "I don't know-"
Sharon interrupted, "Don't be so shy, it'll be fun."
Jack called a few days later and Y/N agreed to a date. Sharon was true to her word and helped her find an outfit and get ready. The date was good. Jack was very sweet and a perfect gentleman. Over the next month they went on a few dates and spent a lot of time talking on the phone and texting. Y/N started feeling like this might be something real.
One night while he was walking her home Jack asked her to a party "It's a thing my fraternity does every quarter, bring our best girls and maybe even pin them"
"Wow, really? Uh sure I'd love to."
"I can't wait, I promise it will be a night you never forget. It's pretty dressy so wear your best dress. Saturday night, I'll pick you up at 7." He kissed her goodnight when they reached the front of her building and she floated up the stairs.
The day of the party she was so nervous, Wanda helped her with her hair while Nat did her make up. She had bought a new dress and couldn't believe her eyes when she looked in the mirror.
"You look beautiful, Y/N. Just remember there will probably be some sorority girls there and don't let the bitchy ones get to you. You are just as good as any of them." Nat reminded her.
When Jack saw her he whistled "Wow, sweetheart. You look beautiful. I can't wait to show you off".
At the party she saw a few girls she knew from the vet program so she had a few people to talk to. Then she saw Brock "Jack, I didn't know Brock was in your fraternity, we had a very bad date awhile back."
Jack gave Brock a dirty look "Yeah, he's a real dick but a legacy so we are stuck with him. Don't worry, he won't bother you tonite."
After that Y/N had the best night, Jack was sweet and attentive, they drank and danced and when it started getting late he asked her to his room. She was nervous but didn't want the night to end so agreed. They sat on his bed and started making out.
When he leaned her back and tried to unzip her dress she stopped him "Jack, I don't know if I'm ready for that."
Jack kept kissing on her neck "But Baby, we've been dating for awhile and I'm falling for you hard. I just want to be close to you." He pushed, his hand ghosting over her breast
"Jack, please. I don't want to do this tonite"
"C'mon baby. I need you"
"Well, I, um-"
he kissed her and reached back to unzip her dress "Trust me baby, I'm gonna make you feel so good."
She lost her will power when he started nibbling on her ear and down her neck "Ok, Jack just please use a condom because I'm not on any birth control"
"Of course, Baby, anything you want" he promised. He had her naked in what seemed like seconds and was thrusting into her before she was ready but he didn't use a condom and came inside her before she even knew what was happening.
"Um, Jack. I didn't finish" she nervously told him.
He looked at her coldly "I did. Finish yourself when you get home. It's time for you to leave."
"But Jack-"
He interrupted "Look, you made me lose the Dogfight when your roommates helped you get ready, you're almost pretty, but Sharon gave me $200 to woo and fuck you so it evens out. So go before you embarrass yourself even more, Loser"
Y/N was shocked and quickly dressed while holding back her tears. She left his room and went down the stairs to find Brock and Sharon together on the couch.
When they saw her Sharon started laughing "I can't believe you thought you were good enough for one of the brothers here. Or someone like my Bucky. I hope you have learned your place."
Brock just laughed "Not so high and mighty now are you. Wait till the pics I took while Jack was fucking you get out. Can't see his face to tell who he is but yours is crystal clear. I told you I would ruin you" Y/N ran out of the house and back to her apartment crying.
The next day she woke up to multiple messages, most from an unknown number with pics from last nite and the message "You better keep your fucking mouth shut or this will be sent the dean and anyone else we can think of."
She sobbed, why can't people just leave her alone. She wanted to tell Bucky his girlfriend was a cheat but was afraid of that video getting out. Nat knocked on her door to tell her they had breakfast ready if she wanted some. Y/N threw on some riding clothes and rushed out before they could see her and headed to the stable, stopping at the pharmacy for Plan B along the way.
After a week of Y/N avoiding them, Nat and Wanda confronted her "What's going on? Did we do something to upset you? Did something happen at the party with Jack?"
She couldn't help but start crying "I can't say anything, I'll be in a lot of trouble and, and" she couldn't say anymore.
Nat soothed "It's ok, we will keep your secrets. You know you can trust us"
When she finally calmed down Wanda gave her some water and they waited for her to talk.
"Please don't think any less of me, I don't know how I ended up here." She sighed "It wasn't a pin party, it was a dog fight. Where all the guys bring the ugliest girl they can find and the one with the worst date wins a pot they all pitch into. But I didn't find out until after I slept with him. I didn't even want to but he told me he was falling for me. I asked him to use a condom and he said he would but didn't. It was all over before I knew it and when I told him I didn't finish he told me about the dog fight and how Sharon was paying him to fuck me. Sharon was downstairs with Brock when I left and he told me he had pictures. I got a bunch of texts with pics the next morning with a note telling me to keep my mouth shut or they will send them to the dean and anyone else they felt like."
Nat was incensed "We are going to the dean"
Y/N shouted "NO! I mean you can't, I'm on a scholarship and if those pics get out I could lose my funding. I'll have to drop out without it."
Wanda looked at her "But you can't just let them get away with it. And we have to tell Bucky that Sharon is cheating on him."
Y/N shook her head "I'm not doing anything. I appreciate your support but I cant take a chance. As far as Bucky, he's never stuck up for me when she attacks me so he gets whatever he deserves"
Wanda and Nat looked at each other "Are you sure?" Wanda asked gently
"Absolutely. I want to just forget any of it ever happened."

Your safari au. Please. I need it. Water my crops with tigers and hyenas and witchers. Grabby hands and pleading faces in abundance here.
You are after my heart, Nonnie. And considering I've only talked about the Safari AU on Novigrad, I will happily assume you're lurking on there and I love you for it. Tweaked a little to add in a hyena just for you.
Lions and Tigers and Bears
Taking over a park was no easy feat, especially not when it came with a reputation like Nilfgaard had. Eskel scratched his head as he poured over the various financial reports, wondering just how much of it could be trusted. The problem was Nilfgaard had been a shining beacon in the animal conservation world, exceptional facilities, high enrichment for the animals and a successful rehabilitation rate. If there was ever an animal in need of a place, Nilfgaard had been first choice for years. All that came tumbling down in light of the revelation that Nilfgaard had been trading illegally, their animals sold to private owners as exotic pets or, even worse, hunters who wanted a guaranteed, easy kill. The place had been shut down immediately, a skeleton crew kept on to tend to the animals but nothing more. Management was on trial and Kaer Morhen had won the bid to take over. Though small and mostly unknown, nobody else had wanted to touch the remnants of Nilfgaard so they were quite uncontested in their bid. What had seemed like a good idea at the time, an noble because it was in the interest of the animals, now was an absolute headache.
Between the three of them, Geralt, Eskel and Lambert could split most of the urgent work. They had Jaskier working on rebranding, Yennefer managing the board and Vesemir as the head. It left them free to run the day to day of the park, learning the animals as well as the people who they had kept on. But they were going to need more people to actually help the place flourish and regain its standing in the community. Which meant asking the heads of departments for who should be kept on and what roles to recruit for from scratch. The easy ones were things like hospitality, Zoltan had a firm grip on the needs of the park and its visitors, knew all the catering firms and how to run a tight ship. So it was one less headache for them. Eredin had stepped up as Head of Security readily once it was proven he had no knowledge of the animal smuggling. Again, his familiarity with the park was a boon, as were his connections, putting together a security team that could be trusted. Much more messy was the animal welfare section. Fringilla, much like Eredin, had stepped up to become interim Head Zookeeper and was doing her best. While they were understaffed, Geralt, Eskel and Lambert helped out where they could but much of their time was spent getting to know the routine of the park and its many animals.
"We need to know who we can trust," Lambert grumbled, leaning over the table where they had personnel files open. "It's impossible to know who was in on things and who wasn't."
Though, in all likelihood, none of the lower level workers knew that when they helped usher one of their beloved animals into a crate, they weren't sending them off to another facility or a happily ever after. But it was something they just couldn't risk.
"May I?" Fringilla asked, eyes roving over all the files. At Geralt's gesture, she began pulling some of them out. "You'll want Triss, she was a vet here, promote her to senior or chief or whatever you call it. She's solid. And Sabrina, she's great, works well with Triss. Retain Istredd, Mousesack, Calanthe and Eist too. oh, and Letho for the reptile house." As she spoke, she kept looking with a small frown.
"Missing someone?" Eskel asked. Nodding, Fringilla frowned. Without much care for manners, she walked to the cupboards and began pulling out files until she hit the folder of resignations and terminations. From there, she pulled out one last file.
"You'll want him."
The folder was taken from her and the three peered at it with varying levels of frowns.
"You want us to hire someone who was terminated for gross misconduct? Whose notes suggest he abused animals and has blacklisted from working with animals?"
"No. I want you to meet the whistle-blower. Cahir's the one who found out about the trafficking and reported it. Nilfgaard didn't take kindly to it and retaliated."
Not sold on the idea, Lambert crossed his arms over his chest. "His file doesn't look exceptional. Personally, if he applied for a job, I'm not sure he shines enough to even be called in for an interview."
It was a sentiment echoed by the other two and Fringilla had to fight to hold back a sneer. "Invite him in and judge for yourselves. Just because his record doesn't have a quantifiable or gradable measure of commitment doesn't mean he won't be fantastic. If we ever have a new animal in that doesn't need to stay hospitalised, I wouldn't want anyone but Cahir to help settle it in. Especially the younger ones and babies."
Against their better judgement, the three decided to follow Fringilla's advice and e-mailed Cahir an interview offer. The reply was terse but assured them that he would be there at the agreed time.
First impressions were, to put gently, not great. Cahir looked rumpled, bags under his eyes and his attitude was rather sullen. It didn't bode well as they sat in the office, Cahir an odd mix of defiant and subservient. At least Fringilla had the grace to push the interview forward as much as she could until even she sighed and leaned back.
"Why don't we walk through some of the enclosures? Make sure you still remember what's where."
As they walked, Eskel ended up next to Cahir, who seemed content to not talk. That didn't stop Eskel from trying to initiate conversation.
"So, what have you been doing in the three months since you left here?"
"Tried to survive."
The blunt answer had Eskel blinking, there were many things he expected but not that. "Oh?"
For the first time Cahir actually looked at him, sadness bleeding through his half glare. "I used to live on site, worked for Nilfgaard from the age of 15, took a full time post at 18 and moved into the small cottage in the southern corner of the land. They fired me, I lost everything."
An uncomfortable silence settled between them as Eskel tried to figure out just how much of Cahir's so story was an exaggeration. "Have you been living with friends then?"
"For a few weeks, yeah." Cahir actually scoffed. "I've been trying to get a job and living in a hostel off savings. Turns out, only having in-house qualifications does not bode well for prospects in the world at large."
Fringilla led them into an enclosure where the grass was high. From the looks and smells, Eskel would have guessed it was a tiger's habitat but he wasn't familiar enough with the park yet to know. He would have hesitated going in, especially in a group like they were but Eskel had to trust Fringilla as she came to a stop and they stood in a loose circle.
The house Cahir had mentioned was one Eskel was familiar with. They had often wondered why it was empty yet well kept. It had felt like a life interrupted when they had a look round, nothing personal there yet it didn't have the empty, unlived-in feel of a show home. In a way, Eskel was regretting just how poorly Cahir's interview was going because he could easily see them offering his house back as part of a contract.
"So why are we here?" Lambert's words broke Eskel's reverie. "I thought we wanted to go on a walk."
It was by pure chance that Eskel caught Fringilla's smirk at Cahir and the slightest softening of that stern expression in return. Clicking his tongue, Cahir shot Lambert a look. "Tell me, have you ever been stalked by a tiger before?"
"No."
"You sure about that?" Cahir clicked his tongue twice and the world burst into motion. From the long grass a tiger pounced and Eskel was not ashamed to admit he let out a surprised yell. He wasn't the only one though, Lambert gasping, hand at his mouth and shoulders up as the tiger took Cahir out. They went tumbling and only Geralt looked like he might lurch into action, taking half a step towards the animal and Cahir. It would have been hopeless though, the two were wrestling on the ground until Cahir was on his back, tiger hunched above him.
The first thing Eskel noticed was how Cahir's face was creased into a happy grin. He looked younger, relaxed and happy ever as the tiger licked a large stripe from jaw, up his chin to his hairline. All Cahir did was laugh.
"Yes, yes, I missed you too, Princess," he said. fingers loosened from the fur in the tiger's neck and petted along her nose with the ease of familiarity.
"What the actual fuck?!" Lambert all but screeched. "What the fuckity fucking fuck?"
Eskel had the sense to look to Fringilla for answers, even if he wanted to watch Cahir with the tiger. The change in the man wasn't something he could have predicted. Gone was the sullen, defensive and standoffish air, replaced by an easy smile and a look of serene happiness as Cahir looked at the tiger, checking her over out of habit, muttering about dirty ears and mucky paws as he went.
"That is what you won't ever learn from a CV and qualifications," Fringilla said. She was absolutely looking smug. "Princess came to us at 9 months old, from a circus. Had terrible separation anxiety and a host of other issues too. She wasn't doing well despite our best efforts. At least, not until Cahir took her home and cared for her during the nights rather than leave her in a hospital cage. He introduced her to independence, slept out in the open with her for a few weeks when she was ready to transition to outdoors." Much more quietly, she added, "She's not the only animal he'd done that for. To find out some of his beloved children have been sold hit him hard. I don't think I'd ever seen him cry before then."
Turning back, Eskel watched as Cahir was sat on the ground, tiger with her back to him. The slightly strained "oh no you don't" from Cahir was lost as the tiger pushed up onto her hind legs and flopped backwards. Had she been smaller, Cahir would have probably caught her like a baby. As it was, he grunted as the weight crashed across his legs and he had a happily chuffing tiger's belly to tickle.
"I assume you'd vouch for him?" Geralt asked.
"In a heartbeat." Fringilla grinned at Cahir but it was lost on him, so focused on Princess as he was. The others might as well have stopped existing. That was the moment Eskel knew his heart was in danger. It didn't get easier as time went on. Hiring Cahir was proving to be a good decision. He just got on with the work, never finding anything distasteful or below him to do. If it needed doing, he got it done.
Over time he opened up too, Eskel found himself wandering down to the southern corner of the park to the little house that was now full of life. He got used to Cahir usually having a baby or two in his care. Sometimes he babysat for Letho's hatchlings, content to have baby snakes trying to look around his arms as they learned how to cope with being handled. The friendship between the two was one Eskel couldn't claim to understand but they seemed to make it work.
"Knock knock," he announced himself by the open back door.
"Come on in," Cahir called as he wandered out of the kitchen. "I'm just finishing making dinner, care to join me?"
That was new too, Cahir was inviting Eskel into his life more and more. It made Eskel feel even better about what he was planning to ask at Fringilla's instructions.
"I wanted to talk to you about tomorrow. There's a new arrival that we think will need your assistance."
Cahir cocked an eyebrow and held up an empty plate in question again. At Eskel's nod he began loading. "Anything you can tell me about it?"
"Not much. Private collector got raided, had a few animals in his less than tender care."
"So they'll be part socialised, part traumatised. I can work with that."
Somehow, Eskel had no doubts about that. But he was holding back some information because Fringilla had told him to keep it a surprise. The next morning the transport van rolled in, a small group of them ready to handle the newest arrivals. There were a couple of pythons for Letho to bring into his fold, a parrot for Guxart to train into swearing. Last was a large crate. As interesting as it was, Eskel's eyes were on Cahir, the way his nostrils flared as he caught scent of the hyena. The box opened and the animal cautiously peered out.
"Dave!" Cahir exclaimed, all semblance of quiet professionalism gone as he hopped off the top of the crate he'd helped open.
If his reaction had been exuberant, it was nothing compared to the hyena's. They collided next to the box, all over each other.
"I missed you buddy." There were tears running down Cahir's cheeks as Dave alternated between butting into him and running tight, excited circles around him before settling down and trying to bodily press into him. Glancing up, Cahir gave Fringilla a wobbly smile. "How did you find her?"
Her? Last Eskel checked, Dave was a male name. Still, he wasn't going to interrupt the tender reunion with such a dumb question.
"She was part of a collector's hoard. Didn't have the right permits so he was made to give her up to those who could offer her proper care."
A broken "thank you" was whispered in her direction before Cahir buried his face in the hyena's neck. Eskel watched with so many questions. Thankfully Fringilla didn't miss that fact.
"She was born in captivity, originally assumed to be a boy, needed to be hand reared after mum rejected her. She never understood that she wasn't human and as a result has spent most of her life living with Cahir. We've tried so often to introduce her to a pack but she never took to them, content to stay with them for a day, two at a push before she starts pining. When Nilfgaard sold her, that's when Cahir got suspicious, did some digging and realised she hadn't gone to another park. So Dave is a catalyst for this whole fiasco if you will."
Watching them, Eskel nodded. He had a hyena to befriend if he wanted to keep Cahir in his life it would seem.

Summary: Having saved your own injured hybrid, you were determined to try and help any other hybrid that crossed your path who needed saving. But being a vet in a small hospital wasn’t enough for you. You wanted to do more, you wanted to make a difference. You wanted to give them a home.
Unlike Hoseok, Jungkook still hasn’t adjusted to life in your house with the other hybrids. You try your best and take small approaches to make him comfortable and trust you.

“Hoseok, I told you no playing with your tennis ball in the house.” You chuckled as you came out of the room. He had been obsessed with throwing it and chasing it around the house. Hoseok let out a whine, his head hanging low. You ruffled his hair.
“Everyone ready to go?” You asked.
“Can I-”
“Yes, Hoseok. You can bring your ball.” You giggled and he grinned. As he ran down the stairs, you couldn’t help but adore the way his golden brown ears flopped against his head.
“Chim? You feeling alright?” You poked your head into his room. As per Dr Lee’s request, you have been slowly weening Jimin off his medications. It was good but that also meant that Jimin may experience some side effects or slight withdrawals so you have been keeping an eye on him.
“I am.” He nodded with a small smile. Although he’s still shy and jumps at loud sounds or voices, he has been improving so much.
“I know I tell you this all the time but I’m so proud of you, Chim.” You ran a hand through his hair.
“Really? You’re proud of me?”
“So proud. A small step is still a step, isn’t it?” You hugged him. He let out purrs of content as he hugged you back, his orange, black and white tail curling itself around you.
“Let’s go.” You held his hand and led him out. The others were all waiting there. Today was going to be the first time they went to The Field, except for Jin and Yoongi. The boys could all sense how tired you were after your 20 hours shift yesterday but you assured them you were fine and insisted on going today. You wanted them to get some fresh air and run.
Everyone climbed into the 8-seater van with you in the driver’s seat. Jin was in the passenger seat beside you.
“Tomorrow, when I go to the nursery, I’ll pick up more fertiliser for our backyard.” Jin said and you nodded. The government had not retracted the hybrid rules yet so boys were still working in shorter shifts.
“We’re here.” You parked the car.
“Woah!” Taehyung gasped at the big field that covered a few acres of land. You laughed and went to sign all of them in at the reception.
“Hey, Ann.”
“Hey, (y/n). It’s been a while! I see that you now have an army with you.” She nodded over to your 7 hybrids. You laughed and nodded your head. After paying for everyone, she placed wristbands around all of your wrists and opened the door for you to enter.
“I’ll be sitting here. Go ahead.” You told them. Hoseok was the first to take off, followed by Jungkook and Taehyung.
“Go have fun. Yoongi will stay here with me.” You smiled at Namjoon and Jin. Beside you, Yoongi lazily raised a hand and nodded in confirmation.
“Alright. Stay warm.” Namjoon patted your head. They removed their jackets and ran to chase the others. Hybrids like Namjoon and Jin loved the cold since wolves and arctic foxes naturally live in cold climates.
“I guess it’s nap time.” Yoongi yawned, putting his head in your lap. You chuckled, shaking your head.
“Umm...” Jimin stood beside you.
“Do you want to go too? Taehyung is there.” You asked him, looking at Taehyung, who was rolling around in the grass.
“Can I stay here?” Jimin squeaked.
“Of course you can.” You smiled, patting the empty space beside you. Jimin sat down and cuddled your side since Yoongi already claimed your lap as his pillow. You put an arm around him. It didn’t take long for Jimin to fall asleep with his head on your shoulder. With two hybrids so close to you, you didn’t even need extra jackets for warmth.
You watched as the 5 hybrids chased after each other, rolling around in the grass happily. Jungkook had yet to warm up to you but you could see he was really enjoying himself.
“Have some hot chocolate.” You gave the cups out to them as they came to take a break.
“Excuse me, miss?” Someone stood in front of you. You looked up at the stranger with a hybrid standing behind him with his head down. All 7 hybrids looked up at him as well.
“Yes?” You looked at him oddly.
“Where did you buy your bunny hybrid?” He smiled. You frowned and noticed that Jungkook tensed up.
“I didn’t buy him.”
“Ah... I see. Well, he is exactly the colour I’m looking for and I would love for him to be a present for my daughter. How much do you want for him? I can offer a lot. Is 1 million enough?” He reached out to pet Jungkook’s ears but you were quick to stand up in front of him, preventing the man from having any non-consented physical contact with Jungkook.
“He’s not for sale, sir.” You said warningly.
“I see that you have 6 other hybrids to care for. It must be hard supporting them yourself. I’ll take him off your hands. How about 2 million? Then you could use the money for your other hybrids.” He smiled.
“I don’t know if you’re deaf or dumb but I already said, he’s not for sale. I don’t need a stranger worrying if I can support my hybrids or not. That’s none of your business. They are all staying with me. I’m not giving them up for any amount in the world.” You crossed your arms.
“Now, there’s no need to be rude.” He frowned.
“You were rude the moment you opened your mouth to speak to me. Now leave before I call security.” You threatened.
“Let me tell you, little girl-”
“No, let me tell you, sir, that you really do not want to mess with me or my hybrids.” You cut him off. The male took a step towards you menacingly.
“I would back away if I were you.” Namjoon finally stepped in, showing his canines. The man looked and saw your other hybrids. He knew he was outnumbered, even with his own hybrid next to him. Sending you a final glare, he stormed off with his hybrid. You glared at him, your whole body shaking with anger. Humans are just so ignorant and dumb.
“Easy, kitten.” Yoongi calmed you down.
“Hey, (y/n)! I ran over when my colleague told me what was going on. Is everything okay?” Ann ran over, worry written all over her face.
“That guy harassed Jungkook.” You frowned.
“I know. We kicked him out and banned him and his hybrid from coming back. I’m sorry that happened.” Ann sighed. You shook your head, knowing it wasn’t her fault.
“We should go home.” Jin spoke. Everyone agreed and you piled into the van. Namjoon drove while Yoongi sat beside you, trying to keep you calm. You bit your lip, refusing to say anything. Everyone knew you were beyond pissed.
Jungkook also remained quiet. He was dumbfounded by your actions. No one has ever defended him like that before and to see you so obviously affected by it made him surprised. Even when you pulled up, you stormed into the house, pacing around the living room.
“(y/n), calm down. You’re scaring, Jimin.” Namjoon reminded.
“I’m just so... Ugh!” You pulled your hair in frustration. Jimin let out a soft whine and you turned to him.
“Sorry, Chim.” You apologised and went out to the backyard, stomping around. The 7 boys watched you in amusement. Yoongi couldn’t help but chuckle. The way you got angry never failed to amuse him and make him laugh.
“How is she’s so adorable when she gets mad?” Jin raised an eyebrow. Yoongi and Namjoon nodded in agreement.
“Tae.” Yoongi nodded over to your back. The younger saluted, walking over.
“(y/n).” Taehyung jumped towards you.
“The audacity the guy had! I mean, who does he think he is? So what if he’s rich and can offer millions of dollars? Geez, I wanted to stomp his face into the ground. And did you see how he just wanted to pet Jungkook when he’s just a stranger? Who the hell does that?!” You continued to pace as you ranted. Taehyung sat on the bed, eyes following you back and forth.
“I’m getting dizzy from your pacing.” Taehyung stated innocently, breaking your rant. You stopped walking and blinked at him
“Oh, sorry, Tae.” You chuckled.
“Don’t be angry anymore.” Taehyung said.
“You know, sometimes, I just think humans should be the one treated like pets, not hybrids. Humans should be leashed and be in shelters. Most of them just disgust me with their entitled attitudes.” You shook your head.
“If that happens, the hyungs and I definitely adopt you! So you won’t have to be in a shelter.” Taehyung grinned.
“Thanks, Taetae. Glad to know I won’t be abandoned.” You laughed. Taehyung was always sent out by your other hybrids to deal with your anger for a reason. His innocent personality and boxy smile was able to calm you down and make you forget your anger instantly.
“We know that you’ll never give any of us up.” Taehyung said.
“Of course, you’re my boys. All of you take up your own special place in my heart.” You cupped his cheeks.
Just looking at Taehyung made tears fill up in your eyes. You couldn’t imagine your life without any of them. Even if Jungkook and Hoseok were not obligated to stay with you after the winter, they have still made an impact on you.
“Why are you crying?!” Taehyung panicked, seeing tears trail down your cheeks.
“Nothing. I just love all of you so much.” You smiled through your tears. Taehyung stood up, enveloping your body with his as his own tears threatened to fall.
“We sent you out here to cheer her up, not make her cry.” Jin stood there, chuckling with an eyebrow raised.
“Jagi, are you crying because you love us?” Jin gave you a knowing look. You nodded your head like a little child and Jin’s face showed just how used he was to this. He made you and Taehyung go back into the house, not wanting you to get sick from the cold weather You looked at all the hybrids, sending them a small smile.
“I’m going to rest. Please have dinner first if you’re hungry.” You yawned and headed up to your room. You took a shower first.
“What’s wrong with her?” Jungkook asked with a scoff.
“(y/n) gets angry when hybrids are disrespected. You could at least be grateful that she protected you today. When you’re not even her hybrid.” Taehyung frowned slightly.
“I didn’t ask her to do that.” Jungkook snorted.
“Why would you say that?” Yoongi said in disbelief. He couldn’t believe how disrespectful Jungkook was.
“I’m not some weak damsel in distress. I don’t need her to come save me or protect me. She should have just minded her business.” Jungkook crossed her arms. Now that made Jin and Namjoon frown too. Hoseok gulped, knowing that Jungkook was crossing the line with his words.
“If you’re so strong, why are you here the? Staying here and eating our food for free.” Jin crossed his arms.
“Because my hyung is gullible enough to buy into your whole charade about how she’s the best human ever and that all of you are one big happy family!” Jungkook yelled. Jimin was already curled up into a ball on the ground, having an anxiety attack.
“You do not yell in front of Jimin.” Yoongi pushed Jungkook back.
“I can do whatever the hell I want! I don’t need to listen to you.” Jungkook glared, his long ears twitching slightly.
“Then leave. You don’t like it here and honestly, we don’t want you here as well. You have been nothing but rude and cold. You can’t even appreciate what (y/n) is doing for you and your brother.” Jin growled.
“I think all of you need to go and cool down.” Namjoon stepped up into his alpha role.
The slamming of the bedroom doors was what woke you up. You came downstairs to see all the hybrids tense, Taehyung sitting next to Jimin on the ground to calm him down as he has an anxiety attack.
“What the hell is going on here?” You frowned.
“Jungkook, Yoongi hyung and Jin hyung...” Hoseok looked down then at the staircase where the three hybrids disappeared off to. That was when you knew that there was a fight. Fighting between the hybrids wasn’t something you tolerated in the house, especially with Jimin around. You decided to give Jungkook, Jin and Yoongi time to cool down before finding them.
“Come here, Chim.” You sat on the couch. Jimin immediately jumped up and leapt into your welcoming arms.
“Breathe, Chim. I’ve got you. Follow my breathing. It’s okay, take your time. In and out.” You ran your fingers through his hair with a soft smile.
“Better?” You asked. He pressed his face into your shoulder but nodded nonetheless. As you continued to comfort Jimin, you looked to the 3 hybrids with you.
“Jungkook disrespected you. Jin hyung and Yoongi hyung got angry.” Taehyung explained briefly. You were surprised that Jin was involved too.
“Hoseok, get Jungkook down. Namjoon, get Yoongi and Jin down too.” You sighed and the two scrambled up. Yoongi and Jin came down but Hoseok relayed that Jungkook wan’t ready to do the same yet. Yoongi was stand offish, arms crossed with a small frown on his face. Jin was quiet but had his head lowered with guilt.
“I’m not going to say who was right and who is wrong but you guys should know better than to fight in front of Jimin.” You said.
You knew that talking to Jungkook was going to be more difficult. Jungkook was still young and he was abandoned at such a young age with only his adopted older brother to be by his side.
“Sorry, (y/n). We shouldn’t have-”
“I’m not asking you to apologise to me.” You said.
“Sorry, Chim. We shouldn’t have done that. We weren’t being considerate” Jin said softly. Yoongi nodded in agreement and patted his head.
“It’s okay, hyungs. Sorry.” Jimin’s ears lowered in guilt.
“No, it was our faults. Don’t apologise when you did nothing wrong. That’s not a good habit to have.” Yoongi said, casting you a look. That was a bad habit of yours too and the boys never failed to remind you of it. You just looked elsewhere, whistling innocently.
“I’ll go get started on dinner.” You stood up.
“I want to help!” Taehyung was quick to trail after you into the kitchen with Jimin by his side. The two were becoming inseparable and it was honestly quite adorable.
“Hoseok, you’re not gullible, alright? Sorry you had to hear that from your brother. He doesn’t mean that and only said it in a fit of anger.” Namjoon told the golden retriever.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry Jungkook has been nothing but trouble since he has been here. In our previous house, he was always being babied and the favourite.”
“Can we ask what happened with your previous owner?” Jin asked.
“Sure. There was actually another border collie hybrid and tabby hybrid with us but our owner said they ran away the week before. But I heard the owners gave them to a shelter. I didn’t know why but didn’t ask. We were playing in the park one day and when we turned our backs, she ran off. Jungkook saw her get in a car and leave.” Hoseok bit his lip.
“We went back to the house only to find it abandoned. Our owner’s stuff was gone and we didn’t know where she went. There was no letter, no money, no nothing.” Hoseok shook his head.
“Was that why you were out that night?” Yoongi asked.
“Yeah, we usually take turns to go find food but as the oldest, I go out more often.” Hoseok nodded.
“I’m sorry that happened to the both of you and Jungkook is still so young.” Namjoon sighed. From the kitchen, you watched the 4 oldest hybrids of the house talk and converse comfortably.
“Shall we make some hot chocolate?” You asked the two as you wiped your hands. Taehyung and Jimin blinked at you in confusion.
“Hot chocolate?”
“Come on, you’re in for a treat.” You smiled as you took out the ingredients out to make hot chocolate. The two were in awe as they watched you blend the chocolate and hot milk together, topping it with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and marshmallows.
“Does Yoongi hyung not like hot chocolate?” Jimin asked.
“He does but most of the time, he prefers warm milk instead.” You patted his head and they helped you bring all the cups out. The stew for dinner was left to simmer on the stove before it was eaten.
“Yours.” You handed Yoongi his mug of plain, warm milk.
“I’ll go deliver Jungkook his mug.” You went to his door and placed the mug on the ground. You knocked and left, not wanting him to feel awkward.
When you returned, you sat next to Jin. You reached up to rub his ears, something Jin has always liked since he started living with you. Everyone was chatting and interacting with one another, even Jimin was nodding along with the conversations. You couldn’t help but feel for Jungkook. He was alone upstairs while everyone else was here.
“Hoseok, is there anything Jungkook likes? Like what makes him happy.” You asked.
“Our owner used to get these Chicago style hotdogs from a cart stall. The guy opens at the farmer’s market across town.” He informed.
“If I bring you to that market, do you think you can bring me to that stall?” Your eyes brightened. Hoseok nodded his head with a smile. Yoongi frowned slightly. Jungkook didn’t deserve your efforts.
“Why do you want to do that for him?” Yoongi asked.
“Jungkook is just closed off because he’s in an unfamiliar environment. Let’s just try to be more understanding towards him. He was abandoned and he feels hurt by that, we can help him overcome it and open up without being forceful. Let’s just be patient.” You smiled.
“Thank you for helping him.” Hoseok teared up and hugged you.
“He’s not going to show any appreciation for your efforts, (y/n).” Namjoon pointed out.
“That’s okay. He doesn’t have to like me or look to me as an owner. As long as he can live here comfortably without having to feel so guarded, I’m content.” You grinned. Taehyung moved to nuzzle against your neck.
“Hoseok, the next weekend, when the farmer’s market opens, shall we take a drive down?” You suggested.
“Can I come too?” Jimin tugged on your pant leg.
“Of course you can.” You kissed the top of his head. When everyone was done with the hot chocolate, you went to serve up dinner. Taehyung and Yoongi stayed by your side to help with what they could. Jin and Hoseok took out the side dishes from the fridge. Namjoon and Jimin took the bowls and cutlery out. Yoongi started scooping the rice.
“Less rice for me.” You told him. When you said that, he purposely added another scoop.
“Sorry, can you repeat what you said?” He looked at you, threatening to get another scoop from the rice cooker. You pouted and glared at him.
“Nothing.” You mumbled.
“That’s what I thought.” He smirked. You placed a portion of rice, spicy stew and side dishes on the tray for Jungkook.
“Okay, this is where I step in. Sorry, snowflake, I know you said patience t he’s still not a king that needs to be waited on. You are not his servant. If he wants to eat, he will come down, alright?” Jin wrapped his hand around your wrist. The others, even Hoseok, nodded in agreement.
“Alright. Hoseok, please make sure he comes down to eat later. It’s not good to skip meals.” You told him.
“You’re one to talk.” Yoongi snorted.
“Yah, Min Yoongi. I can still cancel the shipment for that scratching post that you ordered online.” You threatened. Yoongi gave you a look.
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me.” You smirked.

Malchance
Jasonette July prompt 19: mistakes
Prompt applies to the beginning
Final part of Cocorico
My masterlist
Malchance sat on the roof overlooking the roof where Nightwing and Red Hood had been engaged in a fight for several minutes. They either knew each other's fighting style very well or they were evenly matched. She should have brought popcorn. Red Hood got a lucky hit before Nightwing could dodge and managed to lift him up by the back of the neck.
She dropped down behind them, losing sight of the lovely double view of them from behind when Red Hood turned to face her. Nightwing broke away from the hold while Red Hood was distracted. Malchance walked up to them carefully swinging her cat tail around, seeming relaxed. She was not relaxed. She had escaped one only to be nearly caught by the other so she was definitely on her guard.
"You were right about Black Mask. He is a nasty piece of work."
"See I tried to protect you from him."
"You kidnapped me."
"I told you it was temporary. You were a guest and I let you go."
"I escaped and then was immediately chased by him."
She pointed at Nightwing who had been watching them argue.
“I have so many questions. You kidnapped her?” Nightwing looked over at Red Hood when he asked that but then turned back to Malchance. “What is going on with Black Mask? That is what I was trying to find out before but you ran off.”
“I don’t remember any questions. You just started chasing me and then got out your cuffs.”
She sauntered over and winked at him, but looked back over to see Red Hood’s reaction. As she approached, she moved her hand to her staff in case she needed to make a quick get away. She couldn’t see Red Hood’s face to gauge his reaction but he had tensed. She laughed at them.
“You cuffed her? You aren’t trying to tell me we are after the same girl are you. I think she is warming up to me.” He took a step toward her.
“Maybe I am. I was even thinking about holding your hand.” She looked up at him seductively through her long cat eyelashes the suit gave her and whispered. “Cataclysm.”
She brushed her hand against a discarded box on the rooftop and the men watched it disintegrate and both of them took a step away when she turned back to them and reached out her hand.
“What are you?” Nightwing asked.
“Finally getting to some interesting questions. But I don’t answer interesting questions.”
“Why are you dealing with Black Mask?” Red Hood asked, changing the subject.
“Bonus points to you for bringing us back to the topic of the day.”
“What do I get with my bonus points? I might want to cash them in.”
“You destroyed my business. You will never get enough points to get yourself out of the hole.”
“I feel like I’m missing a whole lot of history here, and I’m definitely curious. But Black Mask. That seems to be the issue to focus on right now instead of your weird version of flirting.”
“Jealous?” Red Hood said.
Marinette ignored them and instead explained her actual purpose for being in Gotham and her former business. She omitted plenty of details that were more sensitive in nature but was able to give them an overview of the magic that was at the core of Gotham and how she thought Black Mask was utilizing it. She would not be able to stop him all on her own as she had found out in her dealings with him. He had too many people working for him that may not be loyal to his goal but still supported the goal of removing her from the picture. She was more offended that he tried to kill her instead of paying her what he owed.
“So you what, need our help to take him down?” Nightwing asked.
“Yes. If he harnesses this magic it would hurt the balance of the whole world. Gotham is surrounded by the miasma but it would extend far beyond that.”
“So you just want us to trust you? There is a system. You haven’t even been vetted.” Nightwing argued.
“I don’t need your approval. My authority spans far beyond Gotham and far beyond your plane of existence. You are inconsequential.”
She turned away from him when she was finished and Red Hood followed. She glanced back at him and he didn’t seem to be making a move so she just stayed vigilant in case that changed.
“I’ll be in touch,” she told him.
“Wait, can we talk?” Red Hood asked.
She motioned with her head and jumped away; he followed. They crossed several rooftops and made sure they were not being followed by anyone, Nightwing included, before Marinette led them to a rooftop that felt surprisingly calm for Gotham. You couldn’t hear the noise from the street or the docks and no sounds of fighting. It was like a calm in the storm. It was her favorite place to hang out when she needed to get away from everything.
“What did you want?” she asked.
“To apologize.” Red Hood said. He paused for a moment and removed his helmet. She could see his hair and facial features but his eyes and the surrounding skin were still covered by a lensed domino mask. He reached out for her hand.
“I’m listening,” she said.
“I guess it’s not enough to say I need to apologize, I actually have to follow through.”
“That is how apologies work.”
“I’m sorry. I should have handled the threats against you differently. It would have been better if I had convinced you to come with me.”
“That is your apology? You are not admitting the mistakes.”
“I mean I’m sorry for kidnapping you.” It sounded more like a question than a statement.
“It wasn’t just the kidnapping. You didn’t trust me to handle my own affairs and you ruined my business."
“I still have plenty of business for you. You gave up on it. Also, clearly something happened with Black Mask so maybe I was right.”
“This is the worst apology ever. The biggest mistake was listening to you at all. I’ve changed my mind, I don’t need help, not from you.”
“Just hold on a minute. You are twisting everything. It was my fault that anyone was after you. Someone made a joke about me flirting with you and word got out. I just wanted to take responsibility to make sure that you didn’t suffer because of it.”
“Maybe employ fewer gossips and don’t flirt with everyone you meet.”
“I employ at least one less gossip, and I don’t flirt with everyone I meet. It just happened with one person. There is a reason it was noteworthy gossip worth making such a large bounty for.
Malchance turned back to him and watched him without responding. He did appear contrite. Usually she would have a sense of someone to know whether they were a danger to her. She thought it just didn’t work with him because she never felt in danger. She may feel adrenaline or nervousness but it hadn’t tripped her internal sense of self preservation.
She stepped towards him and kept watching him. He looked down at her and she could tell he was making eye contact before he took off his mask. Her eyes searched his, looking for answers she was too afraid to ask. She reached up and pushed the shock of white hair away from his face. He closed his eyes as her fingers slipped through his hair. Her hand slid down to his cheek and she finally spoke.
“Why me?”
"Because I feel like you see me how am, and you don't recoil. There is attraction; you are gorgeous. But more than that, I feel drawn to you."
He stepped close and cupped her face. She was suddenly remembering his measurements and exactly how she felt being close to him to take them. She couldn't keep meeting his eyes. She looked away.
"I'm not sure what you see is actually there. I'm just a broken person with a mission to complete."
He lifted her chin to have their eyes meet again. She closed her eyes for the moment. His thumb brushed across her jaw before he dropped his hand and shuffled his feet. She looked back at him, but sure what she felt.
"I can get Nightwing and Batman to help take care of Black Mask."
"You and Nightwing were just fighting. Batman is one of your enemies. How does that even work?"
"We have to play by their rules but it sounds like this is a threat to us all. We can get along for a moment and fight later."
"I did not agree to anyone else's rules. This is my mission and I'm not just letting them take over."
"I should clarify. I meant his no killing rule. It's a restriction for me that I doubt changes things for you."
"It doesn't. I won't work harder to protect the life but I won't attempt to take lives."
"That should be close enough. Can we meet here in one week to discuss details?"
She nodded her assent. She was turning to go when he stepped towards her. She allowed him to turn her face slightly and put a gentle kiss on her cheek. She reached out and squeezed his forearm slightly. She tried to pass it off as a comforting gesture for him rather than to keep herself from melting off her feet.
---
It was the day of the planned assault on Black Mask’s operation. As far as Cocorico could tell they were at the location of the magical manipulation. Groups of Red Hood’s militia were prepared all around to breach but right now Cocorico was gathered with Red Hood and Nightwing to discuss the final details. It was all going as expected until Batman showed up and Cocorico suddenly wondered if this was a good idea. Red Hood and Batman were clearly far from okay with working with each other. Cocorico thought they might kill each other before the battle even started. Batman stepped towards Red Hood so Hood had removed his helmet and was stepping right back in some display of aggressive dominance.
Cocorico would not allow them to ruin her plan. She had gotten them to help a few weeks ago but she had been working toward this for almost 2 years and she wasn’t going to let them ruin it. She pulled Red Hood away and turned to scold Batman but she had pulled Red Hood too hard and when he spun to adjust they both stumbled towards the wall. Just before her head connected with the wall Red Hood slipped his hand behind it. Her back hit the wall and she looked up at him as he was suddenly pressed against her. His other hand had planted against the wall and he was pushing back, probably to continue his argument with Batman.
It was just a thought. She wasn’t planning to do anything about her errant thoughts about Red Hood. She had a mission and she had worked hard to have no distractions. But their eyes met for that brief second and she couldn’t bear to have him turn away. She grabbed the front of his jacket to turn him back toward her. She told herself she just wanted to see his eyes again but without thinking she moved toward him. He was shocked when she kissed him but he recovered quickly. He pressed her back into the wall and kissed her back. It was desperate and brief. Being interrupted by Batman clearing his throat. If looks could kill Red Hood’s would have killed Batman in that instant that Cocorico pulled away.
“For luck,” she said and reached back up to put a peck on his cheek.
“I could use some luck,” Nightwing said.
Red Hood’s eyes narrowed at him but Cocorico responded before anything else happened.
“Batman is right there,” she pointed at him. “Pucker up.”
That effectively ended any further comments about luck or kissing. Red Hood put his helmet back on and Cocorico took a moment to merge Orikko and Plagg as added protection during the battle. Then they moved in.
It was far longer than they expected before anyone noticed their presence. They had fully infiltrated the building before anyone sounded the alarm. Chatcorico thought that must be due to the training of the militia. They had found guards but they were neutralized, brutally in some cases, but they were still alive per Batman’s insistence.
She was shocked by the glow over the compound when they reached the hub. It was otherworldly. She stumbled under the weight of the magic that hit her. Red Hood turned to her in concern. No one else seemed to be affected. She could feel it though. It was not only the ancient sorcery of the city. There was miraculous magic here.
Whatever they were planning was going on now. They paused while everyone gathered at their appointed locations. Chatcorico looked around to decide how best to proceed but what she saw caused her to jump into action and charge out without alerting anyone. Black Mask was there as well as an unknown person bound at the center of all the activity. She was on her knees with her hand bound behind her and a gag in her mouth. In front of her was Black Mask walking towards her with a knife.
That was all bad for the person, which they would endeavor to protect when the assault began but she saw more. There was something in front of them that was drawing in all of the ethereal light seeping from somewhere below. Marinette didn’t know what they were trying to accomplish but she knew it would be bad. She rushed Black Mask from behind. He turned just as she reached him and knocked her over. She used her kite to block. But he didn’t have time to keep after her Red Hood was already behind him.
Chatcorico saw the rest of the group moving in to attack but she focused on removing the bindings from the woman. She undid the bindings on the hand first and then focused on the ones binding the feet together. The woman pulled the binding from her mouth and immediately transferred guardianship of the box to Monk. Marinette remembered that he was the guardian she had met in New York. The box seemed to shed the magic that was attempting to infect it and then floated up. It seemed to mask itself as it exited the building. Chatcorico assumed that it would go to the new guardian of the box, as had happened when she gained the guardianship. Then woman in front of her would have no memory of it.
The battle was long. By the end, they had claimed the building but Black Mask retreated and got away along with many of his men. Those left were behind she suspected would be arrested. Red Hood had his crew filtering out quickly. There was nothing to say they would not be arrested too when the time came. She didn’t expect that Batman’s generosity to work with the man would extend to keeping him out of jail when the time came. The partnership was very limited.
She started to get concerned that the same could be said of her own partnership with him. She was an unknown and she could tell he didn’t trust magic users. He knew enough to suggest a couple other magic users who he trusted enough with the magic seeping out. That didn't seem to include her and she wasn't sure she could handle it anyway. It had become clear that her involvement was to recover and protect the miraculous magic and the former guardian. She could leave the woman to their questioning.
She released Orikko, who had been active longer and she would have an easier time traveling as Malchance. She nodded at Batman and Nightwing, giving them no chance to stop her before she scooped up the woman and vaulted out of there. She took her to her apartment and left her sleeping in the spare room. She would have to find out about contacting the new guardian soon. The order would have some way to care for the woman who lost her memories to the cause.
Malchance would return to her shortly but she had to check. She landed on the roof and as she suspected Red Hood was waiting for her there. He looked up and watched her land and walk toward him. He stood and reached out for her. She was shocked at how right it felt to go into his arms. Maybe it had been too long since she had allowed herself to form any connections. She didn't want to bother with the 'why' of anything tonight. She just craved the connection. She knew it wasn't love and probably wouldn't last. Maybe he only liked the chase and maybe she didn't care. She pulled him down and kissed him. The only thing that mattered was it was right now.

How danganronpa characters act with kittens with their S/O.
Tumblr media
Kazuichu Souda
I think he would like hanging out with kittens
I just think you would have to remind him to tone done his volume and excitement
You also have to tell him to be gentle with them
“Their so cute! I thought cats were just jerks. Looks like I was wrong!”
“Why did you think cats are jerks?”
“Well I see people talk or post about how cats are, kinda entitled or mean.”
“Hehehe well that can be true. Cats can be like that. It might be because of the breed or the way their raised. I should know I have had plenty of cats.”
“Ooh! Babe! How about we get a cat!”
“I don’t know you know their a big responsibility.”
“Please babe!”
“Fine I guess.”
“Aw thank you babe!”
“Which one should we get?”
“How about this one!”
Tumblr media
“Yeah! What should his name be?”
“How about Garfield?”
“Basic.”
“Ok ok. Stripes?”
“Nah.”
“Ok.…Ginger!”
“I kinda like that name!”
“Ok, Ginger! Your coming home with us!”
You to leave the pet store with cat food, cat bed, a small scratching post, some toys, water and food bowl, litter box, and a collar that says ginger.
You guys absolutely adore the cat. He actually very well train, he uses the litter box, the scratching post, never scratches furniture.
When you get home from your part time job you find Kazuichu playing with the kitten or him petting it while it takes a nap on him.
Your friends were surprised that the two of you got a cat. Most of them thought Kazuichu was more of a dog person. He claims that he likes cat and dogs. But for now he had just a cat.
“Hey babe, thanks for letting me get ginger.”
“No thank you for convincing me to get ginger.”
“Hehehe, I love this little guy!”
“I just hope he doesn’t steal you away from me.”
“Of course not! I have enough love for both of you.”
“Good to know.”
Tumblr media
Makoto Naegi
You guys decided to visit a friend who’s cat just had kittens. You guys just went to look at them but makoto got a little to attached to all the kittens.
“S/O do we have to go so soon!”
“Naegi we can’t stay here forever.”
“But their all so cute!”
“Naegi…”
“Oh come on! Just a little longer. Pleeeaassee!”
“Ok a little longer.”
25 minutes later...
“Naegi, my friend is saying we have to leave.”
“Nnnoooo!!!”
“Come on cutie let’s start getting ready to leave.”
“S/O how about we adopt them.”
The cat in question had 3 kittens.
“Naegi I don’t think that’s a good idea. If you didn’t know cats can be quiet a challenge to take care of. Not mentioning 3”
Your friend came in and said you can take them, but she just had to mention whatever kittens we didn’t take she would put in an animal shelter.
You mentally screamed in your head
“S/O! We can’t let them go there! These sweet babies wouldn’t survive!”
“Naegi-“
He had a cute sad puppy dog face. It looks like you have three kittens now
So when you guys got home you put some tuna on a plate and used a bowl nobody used for water. And used a blanket for them to bundle up in
Tumblr media
“Ok naegi. How about you name the black and white one, I name the orange and grey one, and both think of a name for the gray one.”
He nodded his head in agreement
He named the black and white one ace
You named the grey and orange one mochi
And the gray one you both agreed on the name faith
Funny enough, you actually spent most the time with the cats.
Naegi would sometime joke and say
“I think you love those cats more than me.”
But then he would also lay down and play with them.
Faith was a very friendly cat, she got along with your friends fine, she loved affection, she often slept with you guys
Mochi was kinda territorial, she would growl at your friends at first, maybe fiercely scratch them or loudly meow at them, she was also a little adventurous, one time you guys couldn’t find her until you heard a meow from the window and saw she had a mouse in her mouth, still alive mind you. You quickly took it out her mouth and let it outside.
Ace was a very lazy cat, he only really got up if you had food or he wanted to lay in the sun, he would let you pet him. He would also lay in your lap if your not doing anything and would pet him.
You guys loved your cats and don’t regret your decision getting all three
Tumblr media
Hajime Hinata
Hajime was a bit skeptical when you brought a kitten home and said “come on honey, let’s just take care of it for at least a week or two. You might like it.”
While your at your job he just took care of it, feed it, gave it water. That’s it.
For the first like three days
After a while the kitten would jump on Hajime’s lap and just curl up and sleep. He found it so cute.
He would also start petting it
Using a laser pointer and playing with it
He would softly laugh when playing with it.
You were starting to think Hajime didn’t like the cat. Cause you never saw him do anything with it when you got home.
You came home on the last day to take it back cause you thought Hajime didn’t like it. But you couldn’t find him or the kitten
To your surprises you found Hajime sitting on the bed and playing with it. With one of those dangling cat toys.
“So you do like the kitten?”
He turned to you surprised and then his face went a little red with embarrassment. He slowly nodded.
“So do you want to keep her? If not I can take her back.”
“No I really like her! She cute and fun!”
“Ok let’s decide if a name for her!”
Tumblr media
“Hhhmm how about muffin?”
“I do like it. But what about other names?”
“Kitten, missy, misty, mocha, Roxie, muffin-“
You about to tell Hajime he already said muffin before the cat meowed and looked at both of you
“…Muffin.”
The cat crawled towards Hajime after he said muffin.
“I guess our cat name is muffin.”
After playing with muffin for a while, you both got ready to sleep and mitten sat in between both of your faces
Who knew Hajime would like cats
Tumblr media
Kokichi oma
Kokichi was just walking around minding his own business when he saw a kitten, covered in dirt, crying and very skinny. Now Kokichi can be a jerk but he isn’t heartless. He picked up the kitten and ran straight home. He got some soap (the kind that is safe for animals.) and turned on the sink and washed it, not to hard to hurt but enough to get the dirt off. Then he got a towel and put him on the floor. Then got a plate put some tuna on it and then got then a bowl of water. He let it do it’s own thing but after it was done the kitten rub against Kokichi leg. Throughout the day the kitten would follow him wherever he went around the house.
“Kichi, babe I’m home.”
“Hey S/O look what I found in the in the alley!”
He came in and showed you pure white cat.
“Can we keep him please!”
“Kichi, I don’t know.”
He started shedding some tears. Of course they were crocodile tears. But the fact that he acted sad, must mean he really wants it.
“Ok kichi we can keep him-“
“YAAAY!”
“But we have to take it to the vet to get him nurtured, and make sure it gets all his shots”
Kokichi agreed to you term and the next day you guys go get him nurtured and make sure to get his shots. Well you did. He went to go buy some toys, cat food, a bed, etc. after you guys were done you brought him home and started thinking of a name for the pure white cat
Tumblr media
“How about snowball?”
“No that’s too generic.”
“Casper?”
“No, he’s not dead.”
“Alaska?”
“If it was girl maybe.”
“Glacier?”
“No.”
“How about blanco?”
“What’s that even mean?”
“It means white in Spanish.”
“Blanco…blanco…blanco”
“I think I like it!”
“Alright blanco it is.”
Kokichi loved the cat. He always feed it, gave it water, and he loved to play with it.
Funny thing about blanco he was quite the mischievous cat. He loved to push things off shelves and scratch up furniture. But he was so cute
Sometimes Kokichi takes him to DICE meetings. he has him in his laps. While talking about whatever plans he pets him like a super villain
You and Kokichi also loves it when he cuddles up with both you when you prepare to go to bed
Kokichi sometimes walks around and on his shoulders is blanco.
As we all know mui and Kokichi. Hate each other. So anytime he walking around with blanco with his shoulder and mui insults him or something. Blanco will jump off his shoulders and attack mui until she runs away. Which Kokichi praises him for(even though you tell him multiples times it’s not ok for blanco to do that).
I saved the best fact for last. Kokichi had somebody make a mini scarf like the one he has. Which when you saw, it felt like you heart almost exploded.
You both love blanco so much!
Tumblr media
Nagito Komeada
You were leaving for a trip in two months, and Nagito wasn’t too happy about that. He didn’t voice the fact that he was really gonna miss you. But you knew anyway. He was always kinda lonely when you go away. Sure he has…friends…or whatever he has with his classmates.
So you decided to get him a pet, you thought a dog might be to much. So why not a kitten.
Tumblr media
A black kitten with yellow eyes caught your eye. You thought how funny it would be to get her since black cats are bad luck. You also wanted to get her cause the owner said that kitten would go to a different shelter soon.
You poked a holes in a box and put her in with a bow on top
“Nagi!”
“My hope! What’s that in your hand?”
“It’s a gift! For you my love!”
“Oh! My hope! Getting trash like me a gift. Your too good for me!”
“Nagi, my love, your not trash. Come on open it!”
He opened it and the kitten jumped right out onto his chest. He was quite surprised
“My hope! You got me a kitten!”
“Yeah! I know how lonely you get when I go away. So I got you this kitten! Do you like her?”
He picked her up and looked at her. He titled his head sideways and the cat copied him. Then he smiled and hugged the cat.
“I love her!!”
You squealed cause it was so cute.
“What do you want to name her?”
“Mmhhh…Lucky! I want to name her lucky!”
“Hehehe I’m not to surprised.”
Nagito was really happy. He wasn’t too sad when you had to leave.
Him and lucky were always together. He loves that kitten like his own child. He always let her sleep with him, eats with her and sometimes walks around with her.
His classmates notice the kitten and they asked question about it. He told them how you got him this kitten.
Lucky was a very interesting cat, he seemed to bring Nagito such good luck, but others not so much.
Like for example, fuyuhiko said something not to nice to Nagito, lucky was just there sitting on Nagito’s shoulders. When fuyuhiko walked away he tripped on some stairs. It was a lot of steps but it he was still kinda hurt. A couple of bruises and scraps.
He sometimes likes to pick up lucky and boop their noses together.
Ibuki took a picture of the moment and sent it to you. That picture become your new phone background.
He like to call lucky his good luck charm.
When you get back from your trip he at the airport with lucky on his shoulders.
“It’s seems you two got close.”
“Yeah! My hope! Lucky is the best gift I’ve ever gotten! Thank you so much!”
“Gotten any bad luck lately?”
“Nope quite the opposite!”
“Really?”
“Yeah! She’s my good luck charm!”
“I’m glad you that she brings you that much happiness.”
“Yup! now that your back and with lucky here. I feel on top of the world!”
“Heheh I love you nagi!”
“I love you more.”
*meow*
“We love you too lucky!”
You all got in the car and snuggled up together. Lying your head on Nagito’s shoulders and putting his head on top of yours. With lucky on top of your laps. How cute!
