a love that’s intense, all-consuming, passionate, adoring, soul deep, violent in emotion, and possessing.

“Take Me to Church” is essentially about sex, but it’s a tongue-in-cheek attack at organizations that would ... well, it’s about sex and it’s about humanity, and obviously sex and humanity are incredibly tied. Sexuality, and sexual orientation — regardless of orientation — is just natural. An act of sex is one of the most human things. But an organization like the church, say, through its doctrine, would undermine humanity by successfully teaching shame about sexual orientation — that it is sinful, or that it offends God. The song is about asserting yourself and reclaiming your humanity through an act of love. Turning your back on the theoretical thing, something that’s not tangible, and choosing to worship or love something that is tangible and real — something that can be experienced.

thinking about how lestat is aggressively atheist and jaded towards god and church yet when he meets louis for the first time he calls him his saint and ends up turning him in a church. love is lestat’s religion, louis the highest idol to worship. the gods have always demanded a sacrifice in blood and that very night lestat’s spilled plenty to appease them. he kills the priests of the religion he rejected and the only two people left in the church are him and louis, the believers of a new faith of overwhelming love and terrifying intimacy, reclaiming this temple for themselves. there’s no need for confession here, they know each other viscerally. there’s no need for atonement, for their sins are embraced. it’s a transformation and it’s a communion and it’s transcendence. their axis mundi has shifted; they’re creating their own cosmogony

he has never known anything as beautiful, all-consuming, and powerful as you. he is utterly devoted. a disciple at your feet, he could drown in your love; within your gaze, he finds salvation, a reason to live and worship and adore. your touch is holy. your lips are sacred. your moans are sacrosanct. your cunt is divine.
he has never known a love like this, and he doesn’t want to discover any other. you are everything he needs—just as he is everything you need.

They asked do you love her to death?
I said “speak of her over my grave and watch how she brings me back to life.”
