Sending hugs always!
Time After Time: Send me a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of [that fic], or sometime in the past before the story started, and I’ll tell you what happened then
A few years later!
For living donation, please and thank you!
five years later
Jay glances at Hailey with tired eyes before turning back and knocking on the door.
It’s been a busy couple of days in the city and there just aren’t patrol officers available to canvas the street for them which means they get to do it themselves.
Which isn’t the worst thing in the world but it does take a lot of time away from the hundreds of other things they need to do today.
He pushes down those thoughts as the door opens, a teenage girl standing behind the screen door.
“Hi.” he says, plastering a smile across his face. “I’m -”
“Mr. Jay!” she says, eyes lighting up.
He stutters to a stop, studying her face and trying to figure out where he knows her from.
“J-Jennifer?” he asks, his own eyes going wide. “How are you doing?”
“It’s been amazing!” she says, swinging open the screen door and motioning them inside. “The liver has been incredible. I was able to start taking dance lessons after I recovered and now I do dance, cheer and tennis.”
“Yeah?” Jay asks, glancing around the room at the photos and trophies. “You look a lot more energetic and just healthy than I remember.”
She nods.
“Absolutely.” she agrees. “And it’s all thanks to you. I can’t thank you enough.”
“I was happy to help.” he tells her. “And even more happy to see how well you’ve been able to use it.”
“I knew that I was getting such an incredible gift and it was very important to me to make sure that I made good use of it.” she says, cheeks filling with color.
“Jennifer.” he says seriously. “This is all incredible but you know that all I wanted for you was that you lived past the age of nine. Everything else is you going above and beyond and living your best life and I am so happy for you.”
“Can I hug you?” she asks with a shy smile and he’s quick to nod, opening his arms for her to step into them.
When she steps back, he bites his lip.
“As much as I’d love to spend the rest of the day catching up,” he says reluctantly. “We are here for work. Is your mom here?”
“You guys are here about the home invasion down the street, right?” she asks.
“That’s right.” he confirms. “We’re talking to everyone on the street to see if anyone saw anything or maybe has outdoor cameras that might have picked something up.”
“I was away at cheer camp when it happened.” she says. “Just got home this morning but let me grab mom. Even if she didn’t see anything she can get you the tapes from the cameras.”
He nods and she hurries down the hall.
Hailey steps up, putting a hand on his arm.
“You okay?” she says quietly.
“I never even thought about how different her life would be after the transplant.” he whispers. “But she’s so… so happy and healthy.”
“You did something so special and beautiful.” she tells him. “And in case I haven’t told you lately, I am so proud of you. And not just for what you did for Jennifer.”
He offers her a slightly overwhelmed smile and she squeezes his arm before letting her hand fall as Jennifer and her mother come back into the room.
“Detective Halstead.” Eleanor says warmly, her face lighting up. “It’s so wonderful to see you.”
“Call me Jay.” he insists, smiling at her. “It’s amazing to see how well you guys are doing. And I so wish that I wasn’t here for work because I have a case to solve or I really would love to stay and catch up.”
“You’ll need my number for your report.” she says easily. “We can make plans to do dinner another time. Jennifer said you guys were asking about the home invasion.”
“We are.” Hailey confirms. “Did you see or hear anything out of the ordinary last night?”
“There was an unusual truck that spent a lot of time up and down the street.” she says. “Some early in the morning but it showed up again just after dinner. There wasn’t a logo and I didn’t get a plate but it was a blue pickup truck. And I can get you the outdoor cameras from the last couple of days and hopefully you can get more of what you need from that.”
“Thank you.” Jay says, taking the flash drive that she’s holding out. “I’ll reach out about dinner. It’ll be great to catch up properly.”
“Agreed.” she says, stepping forward to hug him quickly, stepping back before he has a chance to truly respond.
He and Hailey step toward the door, knowing that they have a lot more people to talk to before they can get back to the district and start piecing together what they might have found on the canvas but he feels a lot better about this canvas already.
“Bye Jay.” Jennifer calls and he glances back to wave at her, breaking into a wide smile when he sees her holding a familiar teddy bear, waving it’s little hand at him.
“Bye Jay.” he echoes, shaking his head at the bear that she’d named after him.
She’s laughing when he finally steps out of the door and the sound fills him with unbelievable warmth.
It had been a difficult recovery but he’d never once stopped believing that it had been one hundred percent worth it.
And seeing the happy, thriving life that Jennifer is living just makes it even more so.

Hello everyone,
Brazil is underwater, and we come here asking you for your help.
As some of you may know, the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has been getting torrential rains since last Monday (29/04/24).
In four days, it has rained 436,2 millimeters (17,2 inches), which’s triple the normal amount in a month, which is 140 millimeters (5,5 inches)
More than two great rivers in our region had their volume duplicated, or sometimes, triplicated in size.
This means all the cities that are close to these rivers ended up completely underwater
There were more than 110 towns flooded and the estimate is that more than half a million people have been affected by this climate disaster. There are also thousands of people who are arriving in my city (the state capital, Porto Alegre) as climate refugees, coming from communities displaced by the floods.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through this unprecedented tragedy we have been really happy to see entire communities mobilizing to help others. Still, there are people who have lost everything, especially those in marginalized communities living in precarious, unsafe and unsanitary housing.
That’s where you come in. We need money. Money to buy food, clothes, medicine, basic hygiene products, mattresses so that refugees have a place to sleep, basically everything.
Right now, the biggest demand is drinkable water: my city is almost completely out of water, because the water treatment stations have been flooded.
We understand that you may be able to give very little, but also what is little to you means A Lot more to us. Just a dollar is enough to buy 5 liters of fresh water.
Here are the links for international donations:
(these donations are managed by people I know and trust. if you can, donate to them and not the government, but I’ll include that below as well. we don't trust the government to do anything right now, basically)
This is another option:
Government donations:

And here is some international news coverage of what’s happening:
PLEASE share and donate anything you can. Everything is greatly appreciated.

These are Omar(2) and Salah(5), Bilal's nephews. 8 months ago, they were enjoying the warmth of their home and being pampered by their parents and everyone in the family. The pictures below are from Omar's first birthday. Bilal told me how he was the one who prepared everything for the surprise party. He was, then, so excited to gather the whole family and give Omar a memorable first birthday and bring joy to everybody.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Omar and Salah are going through hardships no child should be experiencing. They are surrounded by rubble and unsanitary conditions wherever they go; not to mention the random bombings that threaten their lives every moment of every day. Omar took his first steps while being displaced in a tent in Rafah. Imagine your baby learning to walk in a refugee camp under the constant buzzing of drones! The children and the whole family had to endure the cold winter and being drenched by rain in their flimsy tent, and now they have to go through the unbearable heat in the same inhumane circumstances. As if all this suffering wasn't enough, the occupation is currently asking everyone in Rafah to evacuate again, even the hospitals!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The survival of Omar, Salah, and the whole family in now more than ever at stake. Bilal has been in Germany for a year or so now. The thought that he might never get to see his beloved nephews again haunts him every day. He humbly asks for your support to help him keep his loved ones safe until he has the chance to reunite with them, hopefully as soon as possible. Please donate any amount you can spare and reblog this post. Every contribution can make a difference and restore the family's hope!

Marine Donates Half His Liver To Total Stranger
A U.S. Marine donates half his liver to a complete stranger battling liver disease. When Corey Weber learned that you could donate a portion of your liver to save someone’s life, he started filling out the paperwork to become a living donor. In the middle of his application process, his wife shared the story of a woman who lived in their town, Katie Sproull. She’s a mother of two who was battling chronic liver disease, desperately needed a new liver, and just happened to be O negative blood type, the same as Corey.
After a series of tests, Corey was found to be a perfect match and cleared to donate a portion of his liver. He went out to dinner with Katie so they could meet and two weeks later they had the procedure done. They both spent less than a week in the hospital and Katie reports that she’s feeling great and already symptoms she’s been struggling with for years have cleared up.
Medical experts say that the liver can fully regenerate for both the donor and the recipient. Corey’s liver is expected to be back to full-size within two months and Katie’s within three. The two hope their story will inspire others to consider being a living donor. "There are thousands of people that die on [the donor] list every year and there are billions of people out there with healthy livers," says Katie. "Nobody has to be on that list, there doesn't even need to be a list."

The morning goes slightly differently this time. There are already a few people out for morning walks themselves when they leave the apartment to train and Beatrice makes a decision and reaches out and takes Ava’s hand.
...
Ava seems more delighted than surprised by the action, grinning as she bumps Beatrice’s shoulder while they walk, far from the usual grumpiness she gets from Ava this early in the morning.

My friend Bilal, from Gaza,is reaching out to the free people of the world to help him evacuate his family to safety before it's too late.
Bilal's family consists of 18 members including 4 children and 3 newborns. Two of the babies are currently in hospital. Their health is deteriorating due to the harsh conditions in their tent. The hospital they're in is overcrowded and lacks necessary equipment and medication. The doctors are doing their best but they say the babies won't fully recover if they carry on living in the same hazardous conditions.
Bilal's family had just finished building their new house in Northern Gaza when the war broke out and destroyed everything they had including his father's shoe business, which was their family's only source of income.
Trying to escape the ongoing attacks, Bilal's family kept moving from one place to another but nowhere is safe in Gaza. They are now living in a tent in Rafah city where basic amenities and adequate healthcare are denied to them. Unfortunately, the city previously described as a "safe zone" is currently under heavy bombardment and the ground invasion they have been dreading is already underway. They have been asked to evacuate once again and have nowhere to go.
With no ceasefire in sight, Bilal is endeavouring to rescue his family from the unbearable ordeal they have been experiencing. Bilal has been doing everything within his power to provide for his family but the evacuation costs have proven to be a challenge. That is why, He is humbly asking for help in raising the necessary funds to get his loved ones to safety.
Every donation, no matter the amount, can make a difference.
Sharing the link to Bilal's fundraiser campaign as widely as possible is also tremendously helpful.
Your unwavering support is the only way to achieve some sense of normalcy and stability Bilal's family desperately longs for and deserves.

PRO PALESTINIANS 🇵🇸 we must also bring awareness to Congo ! They are going through a silent genocide
LINK TO DONATE ⬇️ to fund doctors who will directly help women who are being r@ped daily and help them heal physically so they can have dignity and as normal a life as humanly possible
What is happening is barbaric and disgusting and I’m ashamed that I have only just learnt about this so recently. I’m sure like me none of you knew about this either (in the West) but now we know we have to talk about it. Keep talking about Palestine but talk about Congo too and Sudan

I'm in endangered of being kicked out of school for lack of fund. After working a full time job and unable to get a loan, I've exhausted every other avenue. I know as a black queer woman the importance of having a degree and really don't want this to be the end for my academic career so any help would be much appreciated. I’m trying to raise some of the funds by January 10th to be able to attend the spring semester. Thank you for reading and please share if you can.
