A/n: first ever platonic boothill fic /j, also this is kinda lazy but whatever.

He would definitely be one of those annoying brothers that come into your room just to look at you, then leave without closing the door.

but he genuinely cares about you and your safety considering his job as a galaxy ranger.

Boothill also definitely calls you runt, squirt, & kid no matter how old you are or no matter how much you complain.

Frequently ruffles your hair as a sign of affection, although this ends in bickering when you do your hair before it.

Definitely can't cook for shit, every time he tries to make something for you out of the kindness of his heart, he absolutely wrecks it.

It ends up burnt and inedible, and a purple aura around in a cartoonish fashion. and oh, the poor kitchen, you can't count how many times you've had to fix something. it has gone through a lot.

The two of you have sleepovers where you do skincare, watch movies and gossip about anything and everything.

you would think that Boothill is more of a horror movie and/or action movies type guy but he has a soft spot for sappy romance movies and the saddest films possible.

and if you feel like it, both of you talk about your love life.

Trains you by sparring in hand-to-hand combat, he usually wins the sparring, but you've gotten close to beating him.

After your training session you flop on the floor like a dead fish and beg him to carry you back inside, he obliges but not before teasing you for falling to the ground.

he picks you up in a princess carry or in a piggy back ride.

Boothill gives you things at the most random times, "oh but it's not a holiday or anything special today!" you can say but he won't care. accept his gift.

If you just as much glance at something in a store for 1 millisecond you'll find said thing in a gift bag with a little note, handwritten by him.

Since he's part robot he can't drink water or even touch it or he will malfunction, even though he's made to sustain the harsh weather of the desert and attacks from the criminals he hunts down.

so if he's being stubborn and does go through with touching water, you're the one who (quite literally) brings him back to life.

and because of this you've become well-versed in technology. you constantly fix anything that is wrong, such as a jammed finger. Although can't seem to get rid of that swear filter that he's unfortunately stuck with.

Overall Boothill is a very fun elder brother who wants to keep you safe.

You woke up to the feeling of being moved from your spot on your desk. you had been working on one of your tech projects, spending hours on end tinkering away in your room. You cracked one eye open, sleep pulling at your eyes, wanting them to close one more. You were met with the familiar face of your brother above you. then you registered the feeling of his hand on your back and underneath your knees.

Boothill noticed your sleepy gaze on him, and he smiled cheekily, "Heya, runt. I see ya' woke up" he chuckled in amusement at your disheveled appearance. He laid you down on your bed and placed the covers over your body, you immediately sank into your mattress and the soft feeling of the blanket on top of you was making you sleepier.

"Jeez, how long have ya' been up?" His smile dropped a little as he noticed a faint outline of dark circles underneath your eyes. "dunno..." you slurred out and turned to your side, facing him. "Hey, big bro?" you quietly said, Boothill raised an eyebrow "yea?" he asked.

You softly grinned, "Love ya'" you said, then suddenly being interrupted by a yawn. there was silence as your eyes drooped and eventually closed as you fell into a deep slumber.

Boothill stared at your sleeping face, it wasn't exactly surprising that you had said that you loved him. It was just that you didn't say it often, it wasn't that you didn't want to. Boothill's schedule is almost always full, so spending time with him can be hard. A rare soft smile graced his features and he reached over to caress your head.

"I love ya' too, kid." He whispered.

He's the type who'll keep the relationship alive by sending you message 24/7, like, literally. He'll send you the most random pictures like what food he ate today or when he's in the middle of rehearsal, he'll never forget to update you. He's not the type who'll overthink when you don't reply in less than a minute because he knows that you're busy, but if you have time and so is he, you two will spend the remaining hours just chatting and flirting on text.  

Huang Renjun ; counts down the days you two will be together again.

Renjun is a very very clingy boyfriend, so I feel like he's the type who'll count down the days you two will be together again. He'll place it on his phone's calendar and he'll be all excited when the count is slowly turning into a few days. He's also the one who'll keeps on telling you that you two will meet in *insert number* days. He just couldn't wait to see you again.

Lee Jeno ; long hours of calls and silence.

Jeno would absolutely be chill with long-distance. He thinks that your relationship is low-maintenance that is why he's fine with being far away from you. Of course, he still misses you, that's why he would often call you and ask you about your day, then sometimes those calls will become silent but neither of you wanted to hang-up. The call will continue even when you two are fast asleep. 

Lee Donghyuck ; having a hard time bec. he's physically clingy!

Haechan will scream at your messages, constantly bugging you and asking to videocall him because he misses you! he misses your smile, your hug, and your kisses! He needs you and all the Dreamies HATE to share the hotel room with him because he'll just constantly whine at how he misses his girlfriend.

You'll randomly hear the doorbell of your apartment flat, and when you look at the peephole, it's a random NCT member. You'll be confused as to why they're at your place but they told you that Jaemin ordered you something. You'll apologize to them for disturbing their free day but they'll brush it off. When you receive the package, it's a care package with the most random things like chocolates and snacks up to cute accessories like necklace or a perfume! You'll call your boyfriend and then he said to enjoy the package while he's overseas. 

Zhong Chenle ; he needs you right now!

After their concert, Chenle stayed in China for another week to rest but it means that he won't be seeing you for another week. He just misses you so so much, so when you're on a call with him, you joke at how you can just book a flight to China so that he wouldn't complain anymore, then an impulsive idea popped onto his mind, and the next thing you knew, you're on the next flight going to China just to see your boyfriend. 

Park Jisung ; plushies as replacements

Jisung knows how clingy you are whenever he leaves for the tour, so he decided to give you tons of tons of plushie to compensate his leave. He'll give you that huge chestnut plushie that he made for his birthday md, so that you won't miss him when he's gone. Of course, it's not enough, but it'll suffice and sometimes you would bring the chestnut plushie around the house. Song Analysis - Children of the City

Part 0 - My Ramblings, or Whatever

Hello everyone, my name is Honret, and today I am going to be doing the long-awaited Children of the City analysis that I have been teasing for far too long.

Of course, this isn't my first rodeo with song analysis. I've analyzed quite a lot of mili songs on r/mili, over on Reddit. So why am I doing this on tumblr? Partially for reach/exposure (r/mili is tiny,) and partially because I'm liking using Reddit less and less every day.

If people like this post, I might do more, or even repost my old analysis pieces on r/mili over here so they can be archived in a neater way.

Anyway, let us get on to the actual song. This analysis will contain spoilers for Library of Ruina.

Part 1 - Analysis of the Lyrics

This song is arguably rather short in terms of number of lyrics for a mili song, so let's get right into it.

Also, to get this out of the way immediately, this is a Character Song for Yan Vismok from Library of Ruina. If you're reading this, you probably already know that, but if not then it is very important information to know.

Sleep for a total of eight-hundred hours per day And drink a liter of milk Warm-up before you go play

Immediately, this beginning part seems to be almost satirizing the nature of the Prescripts. Obviously, sleeping for 800 hours in a day isn't possible, and drinking an entire liter of milk is uncomfortable for most, but they feel like things a Prescript would order someone to do. After all, they frequently demand impossible and seemingly random actions from the recipient.

Only eat or write Or pull the trigger with your right hand Only thing that's left Is to work on following commands

This next section seems to be referencing the suppression of left-handed people in the past, and relating that to the oppressive nature of the Prescripts. They order you to do uncomfortable things you might not be skilled at, just like a left-handed person may have been ordered to eat or write with their right hand.

The second half ties it back into the main theme by making it about following commands. The people who follow the Prescripts are, in a way, constantly being commanded to do things, with the fear of death if they don't follow. In that way, they're constantly being trained to unquestioningly obey a higher power, just as left-handed people were made to obey the command to be right-handed.

(This part also makes me headcanon Yan as a leftie)

By the time you realize You'll be restrained to a desk And with your dreams on the floor, you comply Eyes chained to the test Find a groom or bride, bonus if brunette In ninety hours, spill their insides Paint your room picturesque

This section is long, so like the last part, I'll split it into two halves.

The first part seems to broadly reference life in The City itself. By the time you've realized you're being trained to follow random commands, you're already figuratively tied to a desk, your only option to comply further with the commands due to having already given up so much.

Yan himself seems to have given up a lot to the Prescripts. Its heavily implied he's killed loved ones, and done other horrible things just for the Prescripts, with his only reward being to become the Messenger who delivers Prescripts to others just like him.

With his dreams figuratively on the floor due to the Prescripts, all he can do is comply.

The next lines seem to continue to drive in the ludicrous nature of the Prescripts. Finding someone to marry within ninety hours is a tall order, especially if you're encouraged to focus on just brunettes. And of course, the typically-violent nature of the Prescripts is also brought up, with the next command in this sequence being to kill the very person you just married. Its also a massive tonal shift in the song.

Now it's time for another vendetta Going through the shelves, picking out my pre-written persona Children of the city sees only the neon stars Reflected upon the murky gutter sky Don't ask me why I desperately wish to be included in The City's night

The first line here might be referencing how Yan has picked up a lot of vendettas in his time delivering the Prescripts. Or at the very least, he feels like people hate him for delivering their Prescripts, just as he hates the Prescripts themselves. After that, the part about a pre-written persona seems to imply that Yan is never being his true self. All he can do to avoid the pain of what the Prescripts demand is to pretend to be someone else, a persona.

This next part is likely a metaphor, and one that I've still had trouble parsing. It could be implying that the "children of the city," which is likely those who work under the Index, or more broadly those who follow what The City desires, only see the bright neon stars, and not the dark murky gutters they're reflected in.

Finally, Yan says that he wishes to be included in The City's night, but he doesn't know why. This, to me, says that he has a secret desire to follow what The City wants of him, so that he may finally be included, rather than feel the same exclusion he's felt his entire life as a Messenger of the Index.

In four-hundred thousand meters, turn right

A nice little metaphor, comparing the Prescripts to a car's GPS system.

Pick up a knife and stab a familiar warm body Learned to fight before I knew love or bitterness of coffee Snippy scissors cut down the strings, I set myself free Only to figure out everything I chose was by proxy

The beginning of the second half of the song here seems to be implying that Yan has definitely killed people close to him before, almost definitely because the Prescripts ordered it. Furthermore, he has been doing this from a young age, as it was "before I knew love or coffee," which very much seems to be telling me he was young.

The next part of the song seems to focus on the events that led Yan to Distort. He forged Prescripts to cut himself free and establish his own free will, but everything he chose was "by proxy," as the real Prescripts told people to follow Yan's fake Prescripts. His betrayal was forseen and intended all along, and his will was never his own.

As we suckled upon the nine-millimeter pacifier Swallowing the fact that other than to expand, we had no purpose As my ever-burning will to stay afloat backfires I now know I must be comfortable Being who I considered worthless

I think the part at the start of this verse seems to be implying that suicide is a common thing among people in the Index. After all, when your will isn't your own for long enough, you may consider doing something drastic to get it back, or even just to rebel, such as committing suicide. There's also probably people who have been ordered to kill themselves by the Prescripts.

The next part is more about Yan in particular. His desire to stay afloat backfired, in the sense that the very act of clinging to his free will made it hurt him even more when he realized that his actions were all just controlled by the Prescripts, and by extension, The City. So in the end, the very people who he considered worthless, those who just follow orders like sheep without caring where they're from, are in fact just the same as him, even if he didn't realize.

Follow the city's ribbon To a heart nobody seems to listen It takes my heart being broken and broken again (Broken and broken again) To know that I am the reason why (The reason why) The sufferings never end

Yet again, let's take this from the top.

The first lines are probably referring to Yan finding the "God of The City" responsible for producing the Prescripts. After all, he was following a Prescript that led him straight there, and its a place that almost nobody else knows about.

The rest of this verse seems to be Yan talking about the pain he's felt delivering Prescripts. After all, he seems to blame himself for all the pain caused by people following the Prescripts he delivers as a Messenger, which is probably why he says that its partially his fault that the suffering in The City doesn't end.

It could also be referring to his own suffering. His internal struggle for free will, to prove that his actions are his own. Every time its disproven, his heart gets broken again. But in saying his will is his own, he's also saying that him delivering Prescripts that hurt people is his own decision.

This probably ties into why he's so willing to follow the voice telling him to Distort. Once he finally has confirmation that his will is just the will of the City, that its all determined by the Prescripts from the start, he can finally remove all the blame and pain that he's been pushing onto himself and just mindlessly follow the Prescripts.

Now it's time for another vendetta Going through the shelves, picking out my pre-written persona Children of the city sees only the neon stars Reflected upon the murky gutter sky Don't ask me why I desperately wish to be noticed by The City's eye

The only part of this chorus that is different from the first chorus is the final line. It seems to be saying that Yan wants The City to notice him, that he wants it to see his actions. Maybe he feels the The City noticing him would make all of his struggling worth it, or that it'd give his life some meaning.

This part is referencing Euler's Number, which is an irrational number, meaning it never ends. The value of this number can never be read in its entirety.

He's never going home.

Part 2 - Summary

Children of the City seems to describe Yan's thoughts and struggles in his life, as he's followed the Prescripts to both his own detriment and the detriment of those around him.

Yan wants his own free will, wants his actions and destiny to be his own. But at the same time, this desire is constantly at odds with Yan's desire to not be at fault for all the pain and suffering he feels like he's caused as a Messenger of the Index, delivering the same painful Prescripts to people that he's been following his entire life.

In short, Yan is in pain. And when he finally gets confirmation that he has no will of his own, that its all the work of the random generations of The City, he finally Distorts into a form that mindlessly follows the Prescripts, feeling no guilt or pain over anything he does.

Part 3 - More of My Ramblings

I hope this analysis makes sense, and that I'm not just hallucinating these meanings to these lines. Yan is one of my favorite new characters in LoR, and I wanted to do him justice by analyzing his Character Song to prove that I am the true Yan Scholar.

they get competitive so quickly. i can feel it.

theyre also the definition of a ‘ its only okay when i do it ‘ person. like , for example , if you played a +4 card , they’d mockingly let out a loud whine for giggles. but if they have a +4 or +2 too , get ready to see a mischievous grin paint their face. theyd take this as a competition they have to win.

i feel like theyd trick you with their facial expressions and actions. lets say , you switch the color to one they have lots of cards of. theyd let out a surprised gasp while laying down on you a reverse card, two skip cards and a +4 card. 

half of it , they’re determined to win. if theyre feeling nice tho , mizuki will play easy for you. that lasts the total of maximum 2 rounds tho , they have a streak to maintain.

most of the time , you cant win for your dear life. if you do get lucky tho , they will jokingly get upset , but is actually pleasantly surprised! guess their talent sticked off to you.

i kind of imagine mizuki remaking the whole decks design when bored. like your own version of uno. the jirai keified version. like those making [thing] coquette.

about how frequently you’ll play tho? i think atleast once a month. even more , if you ask. they mostly play whenever theyre feeling sad tho , one game of uno with you lifts their spirits up and boosts their ego for the day higher than an americans appetite.

kanade surely played uno before with nightcord in empty sekai. it being , ofcourse , mizukis idea. its not like shes an absolute pro at it tho.

but shes not incapable of not understanding the rules , either. she’d take a strategy and maximum beat you 3 times. maximum. i feel like you’d be the better one.

i feel like you wouldnt play so frequently , only when you so happen to be over while kanades taking a break from composing. so things wouldnt get awkward , you always bring a card deck of uno with you.

if your relationship is established after the ‘ saying goodbye to my masked self ‘ event , mafuyu would oftenly join your game by kanades invitation. if youre lucky enough to catch honami unoccupied , dont be shy to call her too! the more the merrier.

Hi, how are you? Before I started talking I wanted to say that I don't know if it's right because I'm using the translator, well I'm going to try to summarize my story in the void I discovered the empty state a year ago and in that one year I tried and every time I failed and I don't know what else I do, my first attempt was using a sub but I got scared and ended up leaving more so I heard everything or my surroundings and the other times I ended up sleeping!! So first of we need to understand WHAT the void is.

The void is a deep meditative state when your MIND is awake but your BODY is asleep and according to those who have entered it, it's the most peaceful experience they've ever had.

So now that we know what it is. How the hell do we enter it?

There are many many ways to enter this state and you can find soooo many ways to do so on Tumblr, personally I reblog a lot of ways to do so and not every method will work for everyone so you just gotta do a lot of them then stick with the one that you're gut tells you. "yh it's this one right here."

But there are sm that you just see complicating it and you're just so confused and lost because you'll be thinking 'you're preaching that it's easy to enter but you're here making a whole ritual? Babes bfr'

And it's so flipping annoying seeing this bc all it those is make them look like liars when in fact it CAN BE SO EASY. But its only easy when you make it easy. If you out it on a pedestal when the void IS IN YOU it'll be way harder to enter. Not impossible but way harder.

So first you need to remember YOU are the void, and YOU control ts it does NOT control YOU.

Now for the methods

I'm a simple person and I hate complicated methods bc it makes the void seem like flipping Jesus when it's in fact just...you.

For example this relatively new method byv@luckykiwiii101 the distraction method. Is basically just distracting yourself from the 3D by imagining ANYTHING. It could be singing a song in your head or a mental movie or you can be counting or affirming like it DOESN'T MATTER, as long as you're body ain't moving but your brain still working it's ENOUGH. Just anything that will distract you enough for your body to fall asleep because thinking a lot will make your mind stay active and awake (FYI it's better to do this in a sleepy state and if yk you're gonna fall asleep, sit up while doing it)

Like there's literally nothing to it?? Just lay down (or sit up) and try not to move then just be thinking ab random things like? It's so flipping simple yet it's almost gotten me into the void??? (but my ass got distracted 😭).

Let's start with just오래.

오래 by itself means a long period of time passing. Or just ~a long time~ I suppose.

It can be used alone:

오래 기다리고 있었어 - she'd been waiting for a long time

오래 머물거예요 - it's going to be here for a long time / to linger

Add 전 to make 'long ago':

그 극장은 오래 전에 헐렸어 - that theatre was pulled down a long time ago

오래되다 (lit. to become 오래) can be used to mean *old*:

그 오래된 극장이 헐렀나봐 - it seems they pulled down that old theatre

오랫동안 means during or while a long time is passing:

오랫동안 바라던 나의 소망이 마침내 이루어졌어 - my wish that I had desired for so long (for such a long period of time) finally came true

극장은 오랫동안 이 상태로 방치되어 있었어 - the theatre has been left in this state for (during) a long time

Now for the phrase from the question:

'오랜만' is short for 오래간만, meaning after a long period of time since (X something).

It's a very common word in Korean. You'll often hear it said by itself when you bump into an acquaintance: "오랜만!!", "It's been a while!". Sometimes I feel it's more so a greeting than literal.

While 오랫동안 is used to mean during the period of time, 오랜만 means after. Specifically after the time that's passed since the last time you did this thing. For example:

오랫동안 못 잤어요 - i didn't sleep well for (during) a long time

진짜 오랜만에 잘 잤더라 - i slept well for the first time in (since) so long!

So 지적당하다, in context = to suffer being corrected on your grammar lmaooo to get got by the grammar police

1./ 긴 시간 and 오래 can both translate to 'long time' in English. So what's the difference?

!! Full disclosure, I'm not entirely sure here! It's not gramatically wrong as a translation, but it's not used the same way - at least not commonly to my knowledge. It simply feels less natural (to me) than the idiomatic 오랜만, but it could just be more formal and direct. I couldn't find a clear answer online, and haven't checked with a native speaker yet. In any case, it's definitely less casual.

2./ 오랜만 vs. 오래 후

Besides being less common and casual, there is one more difference between specifically the "after" - 긴 시간 후 vs. 오랜만 - that's probably the main answer to Zesty's question.

As I wrote before, 오랫만 means something happens for the first time after a long gap since the last time it happened - so it's about a repeat action! It can't be used to talk about just anything that happened after an undefined long stretch of time has occurred.

But 뭐뭐~ 후 can! It's simply after a long time with no other nuance.

But whether 긴 시간 후 can be used in the same way as say 오래 후?? I dont know~ ! Check #1 haha.

It took me a while to figure this out myself!! It's not something I was able to read anywhere either, only halfway through writing this post, the specific nuance clicked. Even though I've used the phrase a billion times! Goes to show just how much you pick up on without having to study it, even in a new language :)

anyway here's my best guesses on how to use 긴 시간 logically that I will send off to my friend - don't take them as learning material haha:

긴 시간을 들여 이 작품을 완성했어요 - I invested a lot of time to complete this piece.

긴 시간 후에 완전히 회복되었어요. - It took a long time, but I've finally recovered.

yoo catie how is germany? what sights have you seen so far? hope you’re having a good time!!

It's only been like what, 10 days, and what can I say but: too much. Here's some recap :D

Kidding kidding, I'm having a lot of fun!! But my friends and I go out after class every day so we've just seen so many things and walked so much. There's too much to recap so I'll just try and talk about some particular fun things. I think I've liked the cathedrals most of all, there's a lot of really cool ones!! But Vienna is like, you'll turn the corner and whoops here's another gigantic, absolutely beautiful castle/building/statue!

I've eaten so much ice cream....my friend/roommate and I just keep getting it like every day. Literally yesterday, we ate ice cream 3x in 24 hours, it's a fun time. And so many pasteries and bread....I had 3 croissants this morning :D

Still I think the most fun was the amusement park we randomly went to. That's where the Kimi statue and Seb car pics that I posted were from!!(we're walking past and my friend just goes "is that fucking Kimi"????)We went on bumper cars and go-karts, and it was so fun but it felt so intense 😭 like slamming directly into each together and screaming. Great bonding activity tho :D

But omg funny that you ask about Germany. We were there for the wknd, and my two friends and I had the funniest experience. We were sitting in some random restaurant, and we look over and see these guys in lederhosen. And I'm trying to discreetly take a pic for my parents(bad ik sry) and the one guy acknowledged me 😭 but whatever. But then later they start pulling out these massive guns(Böllerschießen?) So my friends and I just keep looking over. And the guy waves at me, so my friend takes that as a cue to go ask him "we think you look so cool, can we take a photo with you?" And so they let us hold their guns and take a pic with them!!!!! So sickkkkkk, I still can't believe it actually happened !!

But the art I saw today which I was talking about is this one:

Well, it looks like we have a special case on our hands, as we have not one but TWO creatures for our fifth MI review. For this occasion, we'll do things a little differently than usual. Can our new ghouls beat the Crab Man as our current contender for best monster so far? No.

However, we still have to review them so let's talk about Que Horrifico and the use of Mayans in Horror Media. Yeah, we gotta address this at some point. Cultural influence is unavoidable in all genres, but there is a tendency to use a very quickly researched creature or even deity from other cultures to give a name to what might as well be an original demon or spirit in a kids cartoon or other horror media. This can range from passible, and sometimes informative, deep cuts in mythology getting representation in the mainstream for future creators to further research and enjoy - or it can result in what happened to many Indigenous Spirits I cannot name.

Not gonna' go deep into the Cannibal Deer furries white people call a name you aren't even supposed to state if you don't want to bring misfortune upon yourself but understand that I think the "let artists do what they want" mantra is a cowardly and reductive way to excuse poor research and abysmal treatment of Non-White folklore. Though sometimes, like today's episode, we're just talking about a fully original entity who's meant to "evoke" a culture rather than represent it.

Backstory: During a random stint of babysitting for Daphne (genuinely the weirdest member of the gang to use for this role, and she never does this again), she hears a pan flute being played outside of her kid's house. Before she can check it out, a commotion draws her to the boy she was sitting to find him transformed into a monster. Now "Spookified", as the show puts it, the child proceeds to attack Daph and chase her out of the house.

The kid doesn't follow her as she runs outside, but Daphne soon discovers that the entire neighborhood has had its children turned into monsters. Before the intro, we see the mummified pan flute player disappear into some mist.

Daphne draws the rest of the gang into the mystery, and they soon discover that the entire town of Crystal Cove has slowly been overrun by the monster kids. The adults in town - including those without children possibly? - are then literally driven away, unable to return to their homes as the kids remain Spookified even during daytime hours. Effectively abandoning their kids to their own bestial devices.

This will not be the worst parenting you'll see in this show.

The first suspect, and not just for the Mystery Gang, is Luis de Potrillo, an exchange teacher for Honor's Social Studies. It is through his class that the cast find out about the fictional "legend" of Que Horrifico, who has no real origin but acts as a Pied Piper-esque boogeyman for South America.

Mr. Potrillo also suspects himself, believing that he's turning into the monster like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Sometimes these weird one-off characters show up in future episodes, but it feels odd when some just drop off the face of the earth like this guy. Especially since he's one of the few adults in town who don't treat the gang like garbage.

Reveal: The culprit is fairly obvious since she's the only other newly introduced side character of the episode, child genius and Fred's current Civics tutor Mary Anne Gleardan. The children turn out to not be actual monsters, as a turned-on television eventually makes them break character just to sit down and watch a cartoon. The kids were merely dressing up as miniature ghouls at the behest of Mary Anne who promised them "Utopia" - before finally getting their full cooperation with the promise of free candy instead.

Jamie Neutron here wanted to be part of the Town's council, since she's obviously smart enough to actually run it, but was rejected for her age. And like most child geniuses, she had the technical skill and smarts to create a convulated scheme to scare every adult out of Crystal Cove to turn it into some kind of Kinderstate. However, she still retains the child-like logic of not realizing what that actually entails since she'd have to eventually create her own police state filled with nothing but toddlers in Halloween makeup.

They canonically throw this child into jail for how much money the town wasted on trying to merchandise Que Horrifico.

Design: Que Horrifico, which you can tell with a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish means "How Horrific", is a "Mayan inspired" monster that is otherwise a fully original creature. It wears a semi-golden mask and ragged poncho based on the South American culture. Its mask is evocative of a monkey, with those Rangda teeth that jut outwards and "earring"-like shapes built beneath its molded ears. There's a metal piece attached to the "hat" that's also part of the mask, resembling those antennae-shaped features you'd see on a samurai helmet.

The show surprisingly never makes an Egyptian mummy, which is a staple of Scooby-media, and instead makes Que Horrifico a mummified ghoul with dull blue skin, black nails, and tattered bandages wrapped around most of its body with a few gaps for easier movement. Its hair is also long and white, connecting its design to the Spookified kids in a cool way.

As for The Spookified, they all resemble the child extras under the makeup, but with longer white hair and eyebrows, clawed extremities, fangs, and glowing yellow eyes. They mostly act like Gremlins and use their youthful energy to leap and flip around like a swarm of fast zombies. They're clothing is also torn up a bit, and they resort to hissing and growling while in-character.

I'm at odds with Que Horrifico, though I think the creature kids are a decent design for what amounts to a non-zombie "Horde". It feels odd how they avoided actually drawing any inspiration from real mythology and mostly did a South American "take" on the Pied Piper. It's not even bad, just weird, but as a Horror enthusiast who's experienced the way media and their fandoms butcher cannibal spirits and Hoodoo it does make me more forgiving when a show plays it safe.

In a way, I feel like Que Horrifico WOULD exist as a folktale, but specifically one made up by locals to scare tourists into behaving better. ESPECIALLY, if they're dragging their kids along for the trip. It's design is also just really cool, I can't comment on the mask because it could just be utter nonsense from a Geographical or Historical standpoint - I'm not the crazy teacher, I don't know what those masks specifically mean.

From a quick glance though, the semblance to a monkey might be intentional because Howler Monkeys in Maya culture are considered wise and are often connected with artistry - fitting both the culprit and her gimmick.

I feel like the "don't explain, apologize" disagreement is confused by the vague wording of the original posts. Does "I didn't know" or "I didn't mean to" count as an explanation? Because it seems like a lot of apologies over legitimate misunderstandings or accidents would be dismissed as not genuine if you didn't give at least a brief "it wasn't my intention to hurt you" statement.

Like, you knock someone over by mistake; "sorry, I didn't see you there."

You use a word you didn't know was a slur, "Sorry, I didn't know that, I won't use that word going forward."

Or is it more, to build on the latter example, if you went on an explanation of how you watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame as a kid, and it was fine then, etc.? Like making the apology about you?

So this post is my life now apparently.

Okay, so let's break it down. When apologizing, you can say things like "I didn't mean to" or "it was never my intention" as long as you make it clear that you acknowledge that you did the harm, and you're not trying to excuse the harm.

Like saying something like "I never meant to hurt you -- but I know that what I meant doesn't matter, and I'm so sorry that I did" is perfectly fine in most situations (as long as you, y'know, actually mean it).

Also, things like "I was really overwhelmed and I took it out on you, and that's not fair" are also fine. In both of these cases the focus is on the harm done.

When we talk about explaining, I mean when you start giving a a full back story to your actions. Let's pick an extreme example for illustrative purposes -- say you're a sheltered suburban kid who hasn't been exposed to a lot of overt racism in your life. Say there's a word that has a normal, innocuous meaning -- but in specific contexts is very much a slur for a certain minority group.

But you don't know that. You have literally no idea.

And one day, a classmate does something that angers you. That classmate happens to be a member of that minority group. You, being the obnoxiously "unique" person you think you are have a habit of using random words as insults.

And today you pick that word to insult that person.

And, uh, the room turns 90 degrees on you. You're in a new reality now. You just did something awful on accident, and you are going to apologize, right?

When you apologize, are you going to sit there and try to explain to this person your whole back story of never being exposed to this word? On how you didn't know? How you're not really racist? Because, spoiler, they do not give a shit. And they are probably not going to believe you. Because while you weren't trying to use a slur, you were literally trying to insult them.

No, you're going to apologize. You'll say you didn't mean it, but you're not going to give them that whole story.

Now, that was obviously a (very specific) extreme example (and let's not ask Trae any follow ups about their high school years, okay?). But you can see how this principle applies.

final countdown: day 10

today was all about twitch. well, the fake twitch anyway. i spent most of my afternoon just finding random images for use, LEARNING how to make remove background, and have the image cut as a circle so i can make it as 'stream avatar' on the side... you'll see what i mean in a bit.

it was an extremely tedious work once i finally figured how to do it. and i had to do it like 11 times??? jfc. i dont think it's neccessary for the advancement of the story but it would DRIVE ME FUCKING CRAZY if i dont have accurate or semi accurate presentation of twitch layout so ofc i was going to make 11 fucking icons just for this single thing. ;AJSD;FJSF sometimes i wish i was this dedicated in other aspects of my life

anyway, i think it all came together pretty nicely. most of the skeleton of twitch live stream is done and i just need to fill in whatever detailed i missed and the important texts of course. after that i was exhausted and was like NAH im not working on this fucking fic anymore today BUT THEN in the middle of eating dinner i had an idea... like what if i did the twitch main page that lead into the livesstream and I LITERALLY SCREAMED. IN HORROR. because that's a fucking task. i was so livid with myself because once i got an idea in my head i cant shake it free.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE TWITCH MAIN PAGE??? IT IS NOT FUCKING EASY TO FORMAT THAT SHIT HOW LIKE FUCK ME WHYYYYY I CANT DO THIS MYSELF AHHHHHHHHHHHH. anyway, so i worked on it most of the evening and it as AGGRAVATING. i think i almost bang my head against the wall because it was so hard. i had to figure how to align a table, make thicker borders, and make sure it ya know it fit together NICELY so you can see the whole picture im trying to paint with my dollar tree brushes.

i got most of the harder stuff, i think, out of the way, so tmr i'll finish up whatever formatting i need to do and we'll see how far i've come.

The Blue Print!

How often do you get troubled with these questions - what's my purpose on earth? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do? What's the greater design? What's my role in this grand play of destinies?

If you're reading further to find out answers here, then I'm sorry, you'll never find those answers written anywhere, neither in any of the ancient manuscripts nor proposed by any of the modern day philosophers or saintly masters. For the simple reason that each individual comes with a blue print that can only be discovered by that particular individual and not anyone else. So if you're seeking to travel the entire lengths and breadths of the earth trying to find answers to the above questions, you'll only encounter failure or possibly taken for a ride by phonies & fake gurus.

However, there's one formula that I personally have adapted and though I may not be able to vouch for it to be the touchstone of success in finding those answers, to some extent this methodology aids me in getting from nowhere to somewhere. So what exactly it is?

Let's begin from the end! You see, people depart from this world in so many different ways. Some die while people literally curse them, thanking that they've left this earth. While some others depart this earth while leaving everyone else weeping for such a sad loss, as though something truly priceless & precious has been snatched away from them, an irreparable loss.

Now that's where we need to really begin our assessment. When YOU wave goodbye from this physical abode - what's the legacy you wish to leave behind? What's the permanent contribution you wish to leave in the pages of history even after decades and centuries? Where do you find your calling in leaving this earth a better place than the one in which you're right now?

Go to the finest of details - do you see yourself in a deathbed relaxing, with enough of monetary inheritance behind for your near ones, waiting eagerly for your demise to squander them once you're gone? Or is your existence more than a cheap goal of wealth accumulation that doesn't add a thing to the betterment of actual quality of life on earth?

You must begin from the end by clearly visualizing how you want to leave this world. Once that is fixed, then trust me, your every single effort right now, knowingly and unknowingly, consciously and subconsciously will be steered to that end.

Now you'll definitely find a large arena missing in between. A wide gap of oceans and deserts from where you are today to where you will eventually reach in the end. That's how it will always be. The blue print doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have the entire road map of your future. It only shows where the finishing line is and the only route to reach there is by guiding your heart to what's most demanding at the moment.

Like beautifully said, just enough light to know where I've to keep my next step. That's all that we need right now. We know our goal and the direction. Now all that we need is just enough light to place our feet. It can't be a manhole. It can't be a ditch. It can't be something sharp and thorny. It has to be a safe place that'll carry us forward and further. That's all that you need - enough insight to see what you need to do next, the most immediate and pressing call as demanded by time and the situation.

And when you start taking one step at a time, following the directives of your heart, you'll eventually be guided to that magnum opus ending which you had earlier visualised as though every atom in this universe is beautifully and amazingly guiding you to reach there.

So coming back to those questions - bother not much about them. Just see how you will wish to bid farewell to earth and to its people and where do you wish to be seen in the pages of this grand history of events.

Begin from the end and act on what's immediate - you'll do good!
